While driving on April 11, 2026 at approximately 1:30 PM on [XXX] , the vehicle experienced a loss of steering response while the roadway curved to the right. The driver turned the steering wheel normally in order to follow the curve. The steering wheel moved freely and felt normal. However, the vehicle did not respond to the steering input and instead continued traveling straight. As a result, the vehicle struck the curb on the driver’s side. The impact with the curb slightly redirected the vehicle, but steering response was not restored. The driver continued attempting to steer the vehicle, and although the steering wheel continued to turn normally, the vehicle did not change direction. The vehicle did not appear to lose traction and was not described as sliding. Instead, it failed to respond to steering input. There were no warning indicators, messages, or prior signs of a problem before the incident. The driver was able to bring the vehicle to a stop in a nearby turn area and arranged for it to be towed. After the incident, the vehicle was taken to a Hyundai dealership for inspection. The dealership reported no diagnostic codes and did not identify any issue with the steering system. No corrective action has been taken. 1)Steering system malfunction (column, shaft, rack, and/or EPS). Steering input was not transmitted to vehicle direction. Vehicle available for inspection. 2)Loss of steering control caused curb impact and risk of collision with vehicles, pedestrians, or objects. Could have resulted in serious injury at higher speed or in traffic. 3)No. Dealer could not reproduce. 4)Inspected by Hyundai dealer. No steering-related codes found. No cause identified. No repair performed. Hyundai Consumer Affairs case opened. 5)No warning lights or prior symptoms. Failure was sudden and without warning. Dear Commissioner and DMV Officials: I am writing to formally address a serious financial and safety concern affecting vehicle owners in Connecticut. As a driver with over 50 years of experience—32 of those in CT—I have never experienced rodent damage to any vehicle until purchasing my 2023 Hyundai Tucson. Since acquiring this vehicle, I have suffered thousands of dollars in damage from rodents chewing through the wiring and wire housing. Multiple mechanics have confirmed this is due to manufacturers switching to soy-based and plant-derived biodegradable materials in wiring insulation. These materials are effectively edible, attracting rodents year-round—not just in cold months. This is not owner negligence. The root cause is a material deficiency in the vehicle's manufacturing. Consumers should not bear the financial burden of a known design choice made by the automaker. Repairs are costly, often excluded from warranties, and frequently not covered by insurance. I respectfully request the Department: Investigate the scope of rodent damage complaints linked to bio-based wiring in newer vehicles. Coordinate with NHTSA to evaluate whether this constitutes a safety defect warranting a recall. Advocate for regulatory standards requiring rodent-resistant wiring materials. Urge manufacturers like Hyundai to offer warranty coverage, reimbursement, or retrofits for affected vehicles. I am prepared to provide documentation of my repair expenses upon request. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Respectfully submitted, [XXX] cc: NHTSA, CT Attorney General, CT Consumer Protection, Hyundai Consumer Affairs INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

At dusk I was driving below the speed limit (40 MPH). I was at least 3 car lengths behind the vehicle in front of me when i saw the driver was braking because his brake lights came on and there was an intersection ahead with a stop light. There were at least two cars ahead of the vehicler I was behind. I braked but the car kept on going and appeared to accelerate. I was unable to stop the car with the brakes and collided with the car ahead. It was a sturdy vehicle with a strong bumper so I did not do much damage, if any, to the vehicle but my car requires 6,645.90 of repairs. No one was hurt and the air bags did not deploy. I was wearing my seat belt. There was no warning from ny vehicle that I was getting too close to the vehicle ahead and my car made no attempt to brake automatically. It was as though all warning indicators were not functioning. I have had two other incidents of the car surging ahead but did not report it because no one else was involved and I was able to correct the speed and I thought it was just my imagination.

Horn did not work. At about 67,000 miles on my vehicle my horn stopped working. I took it to the dealership to be replaced and paid for it. Then again at about 100,000 miles it stopped working. I took it back to the dealership and asked if there’s been any recalls they stated not at this time but there’s been a lot of people complaining about their horns and they told me to save my receipt receipts because I might be able to get reimbursed later. On two different occasions. I’ve been driving and had a car changing lanes into my lane and when I went to honk the horn to alert them, it didn’t work. Now I’m also concerned that I’ve got the same horn put on my vehicle for a third time and that I’m going to have to go back in and pay for a third one. I did reach out to Hyundai USA first and ask them to make this right but they stated they do not have an extended warranty for the 2023 vehicles even though they do have bills for 2020 through 2022. I can get copies of the receipts if they’re needed

1. Component and Availability: The panoramic sunroof shattered spontaneously. The failed component was replaced by Myrtle Beach Hyundai, but I have documented the damage with photos, and the vehicle is available for inspection to show the remaining glass debris inside the structure and the damaged headliner. 2. Safety Risk: The sunroof shattered with a loud, gunshot-like noise while driving at 60 mph on a highway (I-95), causing extreme driver distraction and potential loss of vehicle control. Furthermore, a large amount of glass shards fell into the cabin and remains trapped inside the headliner. These hidden fragments continue to rattle, causing ongoing distraction and posing a risk of injury to occupants if they fall through the damaged interior fabric. 3. Confirmation by Dealer: Yes, the problem was confirmed by Myrtle Beach Hyundai. They replaced the sunroof under a "goodwill" gesture, although they initially claimed it was not a warranty issue. 4. Inspection by Others: The vehicle was inspected and repaired by the authorized Hyundai dealer (Myrtle Beach Hyundai). No police or insurance reports were filed as it was a spontaneous failure without a collision. 5. Warning Symptoms: There were no warning lamps, unusual noises, or any symptoms prior to the failure. The shattering occurred suddenly and without any external impact or provocation on January 12th.

As I was pulling into a parking space in a parking garage, the vehicle's engine revved, tires squealed and then the vehicle propelled forward on its own, without my foot being on the accelerator. The vehicle only stopped when it hit a support column and the wall of the parking structure. There was extensive damage to my vehicle and to the parking structure wall. My safety and the safety of others was put at risk due to the car accelerating on its own. The problem has not been confirmed or reproduced by the dealer, but we did take the vehicle to the dealer for inspection and they said they could not find anything wrong with the vehicle that would have caused the unintended acceleration. The vehicle has been inspected by the manufacturer, the insurance company and an investigator for Hyundai. Hyundai infomed us that they are not taking any responsibility for anything that occurred and that they will not share their investigator's report with us. There were no warming lamps or messages related to the problem prior to the failure. However, there have been other occasions while driving on the open road when the engine has revved on its own and I told Hyundai about that. In doing our own research, we have found that there are other 2023 Hyundai Tucson drivers who have had this exact same problem (unintended acceleration causing a crash) while pulling into parking spaces. Additionally, the air bags did not deploy during the collision and therefore the incident was not recorded by the EDR.

The loud sound caused the driver to swerve and could have caused an accident if another vehicle was on either side of the car. The vehicle was taken to a dealership and shown the damage and the service advisor stated he never heard of a problem. The other car's passenger front door was badly damaged. The side curtain airbag on their car deployed and their vehicle (Volvo station wagon) was not driveable. The emergency braking system frequently engages unexpectedly when I back out of my driveway, even when there is no hazard. The unexpected braking is oftentimes dangerous. However, this time, when I needed it, it did not engage. An outside diagnostic inspection was done on the vehicle, and showed "no event." My 2023 Hyundai Tucson’s windshield has developed excessive pitting, multiple chips, and cracks despite only normal highway driving. I do not drive on gravel or dirt roads, yet the glass shows abnormal wear far beyond what would be expected for a vehicle this new. One of the larger chips was repaired by Safelite, and during the repair the windshield cracked further, suggesting the glass is unusually weak or defective. Visibility has become noticeably compromised due to the fine pitting across the entire windshield. Based on the number of similar complaints from other Tucson owners, this appears to be a recurring safety issue with Hyundai windshields.

On [XXX], while driving a 2023 Hyundai TUCSON SEL, the steering wheel suddenly and completely detached from the steering column and ended up in the driver's lap. This sudden and absolute loss of steering control is a catastrophic failure of a primary safety system that placed the driver's life and potentially the lives of others in immediate and extreme peril. It was only due to sheer luck that the vehicle was brought to a stop without an accident or injury. Following the incident, due to fear and anxiety, the driver is now in treatment and has been unable to work. The vehicle was transported to Ron Marhofer Hyundai on the same day. The following day, the driver was met with a profound lack of respect and professionalism from the service advisor, Declan McCready. The driver and her mother were implicitly told they did not know what they were talking about and were treated with a profound lack of respect. The service advisor initially asserted there was no warranty coverage for the issue and that it would cost nearly $500.00 to fix. He also claimed his entire shop of mechanics looked at the car and found nothing was broken. However, the very next day, the dealership abruptly reversed their diagnosis and instructed the driver to get a rental car, stating they would now be fixing the vehicle under warranty. While on the road, the sunroof just shattered completely. In this instance, nobody was hurt as the cover below the sunroof was open and that caught all the glass pieces. The car is hardly 2 year old and warranty covered the repairs. The complaint is that Hyundai never gave a clear answer as to why this happened and what can be done to prevent it. There is no consideration of the passengers getting hurt and startled by this incident. Also no consideration for the time it took for the repairs, the dealership never gave a loaner and we didn’t know we could rent it and Hyundai would reimburse. I feel Hyundai cannot just say sorry and move on as there has to be a reason for this and we pay extra for having a sunroof. I was driving straight when a vehicle coming from the opposite direction made a left turn without yielding, crossing into my lane. As a result, my vehicle collided with the other car at full speed. However, the airbag in my steering wheel did not deploy upon impact, as it should have. My injuries have been significantly more severe than they would have been had the airbag functioned properly. I reported this issue to the vehicle manufacturer, and they opened a case and conducted an inspection. During their inspection, they found that the airbag had since deployed. However, my vehicle was transported off a steep hill and moved to multiple lots before the inspection, any of which could have triggered a delayed deployment. Despite this, the manufacturer has refused to accept liability. Because the airbag failed to deploy at the time of impact, there was no buffer between me and the steering wheel. This resulted in excessive force against my chest from the seatbelt and direct impact with the steering wheel, leading to more severe injuries. There were no warning lights on in the vehicle before the crash, nor were there any recalls related to this issue at the time of the incident.

The entire dashboard lit up and the vehicle quickly died. She tried restarting it and the engine wouldn’t turn over. Anytime there was an attempt to restart, there was a potent odor of gasoline. The car died in the middle of the road. It would sort of start but then it wouldn't move and would just shake and smell of gas. After many minutes of trying to start the vehicle, barely got power but was able to pull to side of road around other cars. Hyundai app reported codes: P030300 and P217800. Had car towed to local dealer. Picked the car up and next day spoke to the service manager who indicated there was a 20%-25% chance this would reoccur. He said there was nothing he could do as Hyundai would only cover the cost for the existing issue. The paperwork from the dealer shows it was a P0303 for cylinder 3 misfire and system too rich caused by leaking fuel injector for cylinder 3 (low pressure). [XXX] (14,702 mi) I was driving the car, in middle of an intersection and the vehicle started to vibrate and all lights on dash lit up (check engine, battery, etc.) and smell of gasoline. Got to side of road and couldn't get vehicle to start. No error codes on app this time, but all symptoms were exactly the same. Called for tow, different dealership due to location. I was driving on a highway at 75 mph, on a clear day, with perfect visibility and driving conditions and my automatic emergency braking engaged. I was on cruise control with no one in front of me for approximately half a mile. There were cars behind me, so I had to swerve into another lane to avoid being rear ended. There was a sequence of beeps. If there were warning lights or messages, I was too busy dodging to see them. There may have been a squiggly line that came up, but I am unsure.

This vehicle has been taken in on four separate occasions now to have know faulty fuel injectors replaced. All dealer service people acknowledge this is a know defect, all tow truck drivers have also confirmed the same, as well as thousands of people online. Huandai has not issued a recall. When the injectors go out, the car dies and will not accelerate and then leaves me stranded on the side of the road. This happens with little to no warning so is extremely dangerous. Do people have to die to make this a safety recall?

I purchased the car in December of 2022 and within the first few months, it would shut down on the interstate. After a few minutes, it would crank back up and be fine. I immediately took it to the dealership (authorized Hyundai dealer) and they could not find an issue. A couple months later, it did it again. Again, I took it to the dealer, they didn't find anything, and I took it home. After a year, it stopped and would not start back up for a long time. I was stranded at a gas station for over an hour. I finally got it to crank, took it in, and they said they fixed a faulty fuel injector. Now it's October 2024 and it is back at the dealer because last week it left me stranded on the side of the interstate at night for a few hours. Again, they are replacing 2 fuel injectors.

Message appeared on speedometer, " Limit 20MPH" with green Speedometer. Shut the car off tried to find problem in the manual. Didnt find anything. Turned car back on, it ran normal. Took it to Hyundai, Fort Myers, Appointment, on 08/28/24. They diagnosed it as : "driver assist speed setting was turned on inside settings. Turned off setting, performed a DTC code scanning with no dtcs in any system. Attached stui photos, performed a 2 mile test drive with no further issues". I can only hope that the problem is solved. 2023 Tuscon Limited Gas - Multiple instances on Vehicle Forward collision warning system activating with alarms noted but no activation of emergency braking while sitting at stop light with cars in front and back that are not moving. Radio system going to show surround view and in some cases only front view even though at stop light. Biggest issue this weekend while taking a curve while merging onto another freeway the emergency braking system activated for no reason. First time occurrence. No one beside me or in front of me for some distance but did have someone behind me. It was a quick activation of the brakes and then release, I would say 1-2 second engagement. If had been longer and brought me to stop would of been an accident. I am taking the car to Westlake Hyundai to investigate this week and will report. Also having dealer investigate premature driver seat excessive wear. Car has 15.5K miles on it. I am concerned as this car is exhibiting same issues that my wife's 2018 Tuscon had that ended-up being successfully lemon lawed. I am also seeing way to many similar complaints and Hyundai needs to figure out what is going on with their emergency front collision sensing system and issue a fix or recall.

This Hyundai Tucson was 3 months old when the transmission started to shudder and miss gears. Traffic was flowing at normal speed. I wasn’t injured but was certainly startled and distracted for a moment to gauge what had just happened. The dealer is looking into it. We had it less than 2 weeks and a rock hit the windshield and caused a crack, which we had professionally repaired the next day. 3 weeks later another small rock hits the windshield and it cracks to the point we have to have it replaced. 5 weeks later another small item hits the windshield and it cracks and we have to have it replaced again. Today, a small rock hit the windshield and caused a crack that we will be having repaired tomorrow. I have never had a car where we had to have a repair or replacement of the windshield more than once every 1-2 years and this is the 3rd windshield in the car in less than 7 months. My insurance has covered the costs so far except for the time and trouble of me having to take time off of work to go to the windshield place and have it repaired or replaced. I complained to the Hyundai dealership about this situation and the service manager told me "maybe you should drive on a different road". We drive this car 2 times a week on well traveled paved freeways. This is insane and makes me concerned that the glass is too thin potentially being a danger in the case of an accident. Purchased car in January 2033. I noticed the radio failed to work so I took it in to the closest dealership on May 10th. Dealership said there was a problem with the navigation system and the car needed a software update. Also advised, the update would repair some other electrical and system issues as well. Was told on 5/17 update would not be available until the end of May and that my carcshould not be driven so I should maintain the rental they provided. Lsstly, I have noticed some performance issues with shifting and speed as well. I thought update might fix, but after reading other complaints I will be reporting it to the dealership as well.

I bought a 2023 Tucson SEL from Rohrman Auto in Lafayette, Indiana It had a major drive train failure from the factory This is Failure #1 and should have been caught at the factory upon inspections I did not want to buy a vehicle from Rohrman that had a problem This is Failure #2 as the dealer admitted that they should have caught this defect in their inspections before they sold it It took me over a week to get the dealer interested in the problem. I do not want this defective car. This is Failure #3 as the dealer has pushed the resolution of this problem on me and is generally unresponsive to my direct, clear, and respectful requests I made a case with Hyundai Customer service (Case # 21183458) requesting the same. This is Failure #4 as the customer service system seems to be broken, and left me stuck between a staff turnover problem there —> As you can clearly see, HMUSA's manufacturing and quality checks failures have been compounded by customer service failures by both the ROHRMAN and HMUSA that now leaving me stuck with a major problem. I simply want a new, defect free Tucson SEL in Amazon Green or Sea Blue. You can have this defective vehicle back.

I purchased a new vehicle in February 2023. After a month and a half, I traveled to Washington DC on a pleasure trip. After my work/vacation trip when I am returning back to home all of the sudden, there was heavy smoke from the hood and eventually tried to turn off the engine but the car didn't respond, and when I tried to open the Hood in order to cool down the engine I see fire already in the engine. So, there was no intimation on the dashboard about the fire or not even an alert. Moreover, the engine didn't turn off even after trying to turn it off 4- 5 times. I was really worried about what would happen if the door locks stops working

I leased my 2023 Hyundai Tucson from your Authorized Dealership South Shore Hyundai in NY March 18,2003. I received the vehicle with 34 miles on the digital Odometer at approximately 1750 eastern standard time. At approximately 2030 eastern standard time with the vehicle at 62 mile on the digital Odometer. I was Driving with my family, which is made up of my wife, daughter 22yrs old and son 14 years old on the Wantagh Parkway South approximately location 40.740739,-73.544842 at the speed limit of 55 MPH. I began to hear knocking noise from the front of the vehicle that progressively got louder. Then immediately the check engine, brake, oil, key with car, battery, open doors, every light that the dashboard has came on. Immediately the whole vehicle lost power and I could no longer accelerate. The steering wheel got stiff and the vehicle had no response to brakes. The vehicle started stuttering. The engine died, RPMs at 0 and no response on the accelerator, brakes and steering. The vehicle would not start.I tried push start several times start the vehicle, remote start, app start and putting the remote close to the push start with no results. I felt helpless and in a very dangerous situation that this brand new Hyundai vehicle put my family and me in. My family’s life was at the mercy of a 62 mile brand new 2023 Hyundai Tucson Sel that I received less than 2 and half hours ago from a certified dealership South Shore Hyundai in NY. We were stuck in the left lane in the middle of the Wantagh Parkway south bound with nowhere to go with the median divider to my left and to the right it was a fully active lane of on coming traffic in order to reach the safety of the shoulder. My family and I had to cross a full active lane of on coming traffic to get to the shoulder safely. We were able to get to the shoulder safely. The safety hazards presented by this vehicle created is dangerous to America Families. Brand New vehicle should not suddenly shut off.Put the public in danger.

I was driving on the highway & my sunroof exploded. Glass was shattered & rained down on me & my occupants. 1/The sun roof - I have since vacuumed the mess, but it is still not repaired. Available for inspection if needed until I get it into the shop. 2/ I was driving 65 mph when the loud noise (phone gave a warning of decibal level not safe) - broken glass & glass 'dust' blowing on us / breathed in by us. The shock of it happening when surrounded by busy traffic on a highway. 3/I have made many calls into Hyundai to get it taken care of - they are not returning my calls. 4/I initially took it into a dealership (Ken Garff-Surprise) & they did not seem interested in inspecting - had a glass company reach out to me to replace the sunroof thru my insurance. 5/No warning at all.

I leased this SUV 12/22/2023,upon driving it on 12/26 as i exited a major highway, leaving highway amd entering exit ramp the SUV lost brake funcrion as well as transmission function, absolute total loss of both brake and transmission systems, miraculously I was able to coast to safty with assistance from another motorist holding the car from rolling furthermore, needless to say this was a harrowing and dangerously close to a tragic accident due to this compmete failure of brake and transmission simultaneously failing,i had to incur a costly towing fee and also completely uninformed as to what the root/cause of problem was as well as any timeframe of repair,as of the time of myself writing this message and thirty plus days later ,I have recieved ZERO cooperation and even outwardly standoffish behavior towards myself,my hisband and my personal leasing agent,I am very concerned of the loaner car becoming a financial burden as my husband was forced to basically suffer rentL vetting and credit card deposit protocols upon paying for and delivering the damaged SUV,we have for weeks tried to ascertain any information on the extent and cause of damage to leased SUV as we are NOT INTRESTED in recieving original damaged because we are FEARFUL of our safety as we are STILL uninformed as of 1/31/2023 PLEASE NOTE LOCAL POLICE WERE ON THE SCENE AND CONFIRMED TOTAL BREAKDOWN STATUs/TOW NEEDED STATUS

Vehicle was purchased new from local Hyundai dealership in Dubuque, IA on November 17, 2022 and delivered November 22nd. Vehicle had just under 200 miles on odometer. Brake system was working well at that time. On January 21, 2023 I stopped for a red light. After a few seconds the brake pedal started going down and went completely down. Mileage at that time was just over 1700 miles. I took the car into the dealership on January 23rd and they checked the system and said that it was normal. The shop supervisor said that it was not a problem that when the pedal went down it was applying more pressure to the brake system. I disagreed with them as this is usually the fault of master cylinder seals leaking. They brought a newer vehicle into the shop and it had the same problem so no repairs were made. I believe this is an accident waiting to happen and I would like to have the problem corrected. This appears to be a problem with Hyundai vehicles. Our vehicle is a Hyundai Tucson.

I just bought the car, it was brand new off the lot. The check engine light came on followed by every emergency warning on my dash. After this my power steering failed, I was able to move over to the right lane a bit, but that’s it. I tried turning the car off at this point and turning it back on, but it would not turn back on. I could not even put on my emergency 4 way blinkers. The car would not even detect the key at this point. Thankfully we were on a small, low traffic road and not the freeway or a major accident would have been inevitable.

Twice in the past two months, I have been driving down the highway going 70 mph with no car in close proximity to the front of me and the automatic emergency braking has activated, suddenly braking for no reason. In the first instance, there was a car in the lane to the left of me, and the second time cars on both sides of me. But in neither instance was a vehicle close to them front of my vehicle. The second time the car felt like it was going into a skid when the braking activated. I took the car to the dealer (Irwin Hyundai) the first time and they told me the sensors on the car were not properly calibrated when the new car was delivered to me. When I called Irwin’s today after it happened a second time, I was told the car was “functioning as designed” but they would look at it. I am scared to drive the car at this point given that the brakes randomly were activated while at high speeds and without any basis for activation.

Two days after purchasing this vehicle BRAND NEW, I received a "Low Oil" alert. I took it to the nearest Hyundai dealership where a salesman filled the engine with oil. Only a couple hundred miles later I received another "Low Oil" alert. I have been attempting to solve this issue with Hyundai, however, they are insistent that I must complete an oil consumption test, which takes 3,000 miles of testing to complete. This vehicle is burning oil, and burning oil FAST. I do not know where the burnt oil is going, but if it is going through the exhaust system and catalytic converter this may be a FIRE HAZARD.

When driving in dark areas with low outdoor lighting, the instrument panel is reflected in the drivers window. Aside from being distracting, there is obstructed visibility where the reflection occurs. I have made repeated calls, that go ignored, to Hyndai Customer Care, brought it to my service dealer upon request for protocol, who could not react because it was daytime. The instrument panel happens not to be recessed as in other cars I have had. I simply want suggestions on how to alleviate the problem. Thank you
