By accessing or using VinCheckEngine.com ("the Platform," "we," "us," or "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Platform. We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance.

VinCheckEngine provides free vehicle history and safety intelligence reports based on publicly available data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and public auction records. Reports include vehicle specifications, recall campaigns, owner complaints, auction history, and proprietary risk analysis.

All content, software, algorithms, scoring methodologies, risk intelligence signals, proprietary databases, and presentation of data on this Platform are the exclusive intellectual property of VinCheckEngine and are protected by United States copyright law, trade secret law, and applicable international intellectual property treaties.

The underlying government data (NHTSA, EPA) is public domain. However, the selection, arrangement, analysis, scoring, weighting, risk computation, and all derived intelligence is original proprietary work and may not be copied, reproduced, or replicated.

The "VinCheckEngine" name, brand mark, and the distinctive presentation of vehicle risk reports are protected trademarks and trade dress.

You may NOT:

• Scrape, crawl, harvest, or systematically download data from the Platform using automated tools, bots, scripts, or any non-human means • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract proprietary scoring algorithms, weighting formulas, or calculation methodologies • Reproduce, republish, redistribute, or resell any report, data point, risk score, or derived intelligence from the Platform without express written permission • Use the Platform to build a competing product or service • Remove, obscure, or alter any copyright, trademark, or attribution notices • Circumvent any access controls, rate limits, or security measures • Use the Platform for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law • Make bulk or automated VIN lookups for commercial data aggregation purposes • Frame, mirror, or embed any portion of the Platform without permission

You MAY:

• Look up any VIN for personal research, pre-purchase due diligence, or informational purposes • Share individual report links with other people for non-commercial purposes • Print or save a report for your own personal records • Reference specific data points (e.g., recall counts) when crediting VinCheckEngine.com as the source • Link to any page on the Platform from your own website

Data is sourced from NHTSA public APIs, EPA data, and public auction records. While we strive for accuracy, we make no warranties regarding completeness, timeliness, or fitness for any particular purpose.

Risk scores, purchase recommendations, repair cost estimates, recall completion rates, and all derived intelligence are proprietary estimates for informational purposes only. They are NOT a substitute for:

• A professional pre-purchase mechanical inspection • A paid vehicle history report from NMVTIS-certified providers • Legal advice regarding lemon law rights • An independent appraisal for insurance or financing purposes

We are not responsible for any purchase decision, financial loss, or damages arising from reliance on information provided by the Platform.

The Platform exposes limited API functionality. API access is subject to rate limits and these Terms. Automated bulk access, commercial use of API responses, or use of API data to build competing services is expressly prohibited and may result in IP blocking and legal action.

We do not require account registration. VIN lookup queries may be logged for abuse prevention, service improvement, and analytics. We do not sell personal data. See our Privacy Policy for details.

If you believe your copyrighted work has been reproduced on this Platform without authorization, please contact us with a description of the work, the URL where it appears, and your contact information. We will respond promptly to valid DMCA notices.

Violations of these Terms — including unauthorized scraping, algorithm extraction, or commercial reproduction — may result in immediate access termination, IP blocking, and civil or criminal legal action under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (18 U.S.C. § 1030), the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, and applicable state and federal IP law. We actively monitor for unauthorized use and will pursue remedies available at law and in equity, including injunctive relief and damages.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, VinCheckEngine shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Platform.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which the operator is domiciled, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any dispute arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the applicable federal or state courts.
