I believe my 2022 CRV has the same issue as the 23 to 25 recall for the steering gearbox issue. My car steering wheel gets stuck and can be hard to turn and I’m worried about the safety for me and my family in my car. Please investigate this issue and I believe it should be extended to 2022 year model for recall. I see online other people with 2022 also face this issue. PLEASE HELP IM CONCERNED. Can Honda answer if the same parts and manufacturing process was used on 2022? I have noticed this more in the last year I have owned this vehicle.

ODI #11743925UNKNOWN OR OTHER

To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to express my concern regarding the windshield quality on my Honda CR-V. I recently purchased this vehicle and have already experienced three separate chips in the windshield caused by small rocks during normal driving conditions. I have owned several vehicles over the years including Honda SUV, and have encountered similar road conditions without experiencing this level of damage. The frequency with which the windshield has chipped has led me to question the durability and quality of the glass used in my Honda CR-V. While I understand that windshields can be damaged by road debris, it is concerning that a vehicle has sustained multiple chips in such a short period of time. This has resulted in inconvenience, concern about the windshield's long-term integrity, and the potential for costly repairs or replacement. I am requesting that Honda review this matter and advise whether there are any known issues regarding windshield durability for my vehicle. I would also appreciate any assistance or goodwill consideration Honda may be able to provide. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. I look forward to your response. Sincerely, [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

When going a higher speed on freeway, steering “sticks” when on curves. This problem was recalled for 2023-2025 Honda CRV’s, but the same problem is happening with 2022’s.

ODI #11743374STEERING

I have experienced all of the following: "Sticky" Steering: A momentary feeling that the steering wheel catches or sticks when trying to turn it, often requiring extra force to break it loose, Notchy or Jerky Feel: When breaking through the sticky point, the car may jerk slightly, Abnormal Noises: You may hear clicking, grinding, or rubbing noises coming from the front of the vehicle when turning and Increased Effort: It becomes noticeably harder or stiffer to turn the steering wheel. There are no issues when driving straight but when I turn the wheel, into a curve or exiting or entering a ramp for example the wheel can stick and I have to apply additional force to complete the turn. I have also experienced a notch or jerky when completing wider turns, the steering seems to stick in muliple places while the turn is being made. There is also a clicking or popping sound that occurs at each sticking point. There have been no warning lights and I have tried turning on and off all the various lane assist features thinking that the issue was with the technology. Family members have verified these issues but I just found out about this issue after searching on the internet and checking to see that my vehicle was not included even though many of the searches said 2022 was included. If I can get my dealership to look at this issue or another professional I will make an additional complaint.

ODI #11742316STEERING

The steering system made clicking noises and while turning would lock up. I took this to Honda, and they replaced the steering rack. This was extremely unsafe, especially at higher speeds. I did not feel safe driving this vehicle with the steering system failing. This VIN was not included in a Honda recall for the steering system and the steering system failed. The cost of repair was $3400.00. Honda agreed to pay approximately $1100.00.

ODI #11742089STEERING

The rack and pinion steering system failed. This was a definite safety issue, with vehicle being unsafe to drive. There were no warning messages but the steering itself was sticking and binding at travel speeds. This vehicle had 40525 miles at the time of repair and just fallen out of warranty.

ODI #11741953STEERING,POWER TRAIN,ENGINE

While driving my 2022 Honda CRV at highway speeds and at operating temperature, the steering sticks and/or pauses then releases causing the steering to jerk back in the opposite direction. This creates a major safety issue while driving on the highway and can potentially cause an accident. Additionally, when turning the vehicle left at slow speeds, we would periodically hear a clicking noise. These problems began at the beginning of 2024 and have progressively gotten worse. Initial attempts to have Honda identify the problems failed as they could not replicate the problems at the time of diagnostics. During this time, our warranty expired. On May 20, 2026, we once again had the vehicle inspected by Pohanka Honda of Salisbury, MD for the same issues. This time the lead mechanic technician was able to replicate and pinpoint the problem. He noted the problem was the "Electrical Power Steering System Assembly and Gearbox Assembly", which contained the worm gear and worm wheel assembly. The dealership quoted us a price of $2,153.00 for parts, labor, and a full alignment, which is required during this type of repair. The service technician advised there are no current recalls to cover the cost of this repair. The Honda Corporation has suggested we apply for their “Goodwill Assistance Program”, to help cover cost for out-of-warranty repairs, but there was no guarantee that we would qualify for any monetary relief. We believe Honda Corporation is ignoring a major defect and safety issue regarding the electrical power steering assembly and gearbox, on older CRV models. This same part has been deemed as defective and a major safety issue on newer CRV models between 2023-2025 and has recalled those vehicles for repair. I believe the company should be required to recall all vehicles with the defective electrical power steering assembly and gearbox. Fortunately for us, Honda made the repair and covered the full cost through the Goodwill Assistance Program.

ODI #11741291STEERING

We are experiencing the dangerous 'Sticky/Notchy' electric power steering (EPS) conditions in our 2022 Honda CR-V, identical to the symptoms described in NHTSA Recall 24V-744. The steering wheel momentarily binds or sticks, particularly at highway speeds and when attempting to complete or recover from a turn. It requires noticeable extra physical effort to 'break' the wheel free from this sticky center point, which frequently causes the vehicle to momentarily jerk or overcorrect. The issue has become progressively worse with the onset of warmer summer weather. Our independent mechanic verified the issue but confirmed our specific 2022 VIN falls just outside the current recall parameters. Because the 2022 CR-V shares similar EPS components and exhibits the exact manufacturing defect, safety risk, and component degradation as the 2023–2025 models, the NHTSA should expand the recall population to include these earlier production dates before a serious incident occurs.

I was driving on the highway and I wanted to pass someone the car cut power and was not accelerating and the car slowed down. I went to a mechanic shop and they said there was an internal brake sensor failed and brake booster failure.

ODI #11741064STEERING

Abnormal sound when turning the steering wheel specially at stationary state. Notice that steering the wheel feels heavy.

ODI #11740776LANE DEPARTURE

The issue involves the driver’s-side blind spot monitoring system. In my experience, the system does not recognize or alert me to vehicles approaching from behind in the adjacent lane until they are nearly even with the driver’s door. In many situations, the blind spot warning light does not illuminate while a vehicle is occupying what most drivers would reasonably consider the blind spot area. Instead, the alert often appears only after the vehicle is already alongside my vehicle. This creates a significant safety concern. The purpose of a blind spot monitoring system is to provide advance warning of vehicles approaching from behind before a lane change is initiated. When the system does not recognize a vehicle until it is already beside the driver’s door, the warning is delayed to the point that it provides limited practical value in helping prevent a collision. I have discussed this concern with Honda dealership personnel and have been advised that the system is operating as designed and that there is no repair, adjustment, or calibration available to improve its performance. While I appreciate their efforts, I find it concerning that a safety-related feature may be functioning exactly as intended while still failing to provide what I believe is adequate advance warning for drivers. As a driver, I would expect the system to provide earlier notification when another vehicle is occupying the adjacent lane and approaching from the rear.

Car started to lurch a bit, I had to put increased pressure on the brake to hold it. I wasn’t sure the brake would hold, so I shifted to neutral, engine revved up over 4k. It settled back down and I was able to drive to the Honda dealer on [XXX] (less than a mile from where the incident occurred.) Left the car there to be worked on. Car was in the engine idle shutoff mode. I don’t recall if it started revving coming out of that mode, but I don’t think so since my foot would have been off the brake at that point. Other than the lurch that occurred while I was pressing hard on the brake, I didn’t move the car until after I had put it in neutral and it settled down. Then I put it in drive and moved forward. Honda 2022 CR-V - Rear Differential (RD) locking up, jerking, slipping, not moving smoothly. When backing up and turning the RD has been jerking and slipping for more than 2 years. I had the vehicle in the shop 2+ years ago and explained the problem and they claimed they could not find a problem and gave the car back to me. Now it's back in the shop again as the problem is worse. The powertrain is still under warranty so I assumed they would cover it, however they said it's my fault so they won't cover it. Honda dealer wants $4000 to fix. So next i contacted American Honda and explained it to them. After a week of waiting they came back and said we will give you a discount to $2500. My response it this should be under warranty. They will not admit they had defective Rear Differentials as I saw NHTSA had an open inquiry of these RDs. NHTSA Action Number: PE22011. Now I am waiting to get my CR-V back and pay the hefty bill even though this is clearly a Honda defect. Can you help me get a Recall opened to American Honda to fix these Rear Differentials? The Honda company and the Luther dealer have not been honest and they need to be held accountable.

My 2022 Honda CRV is experiencing a "STICKY or CATCHING" steering wheel under normal driving conditions. The vehicle will not self-correct to the center unless some manual effort is attempted. (Especially when re-centering from a left-hand curve). The issue has become increasingly more pronounced over time. It became apparent that this was a design flaw once I began to investigate the problem online. Apparently, Honda has issued a recall for the problem in the 2023-2024 model years. (Over 1.7 million vehicles) However, I am experiencing the exact symptoms in my 2022 CRV. I greatly fear in driving the vehicle, we may attempt to OVER-CORRECT the steering and cause a potential accident or worse. I am reaching out to my local Honda dealership this week to seek advice. I wanted to register my concern with the NHTSA first. Thank you for your consideration of my serious concern.

While driving, especially on the highway over the last few months, my steering has seemed to catch or stick to where you have to turn the wheel harder than you should have to in order to stay in the lane. It seems to be worse in warmer weather or on longer trips. Needless to say, both of these issues have created great safety concerns especially when trying to stay in my lane on a curve with a car next to me. After my husband did some research online he found out that there is already a recall (NHTSA Recall# 24V-744) for this "sticky steering" on the 22-25 Civic and 23-25 Honda CRV, HRV, and Acura Integra. I called the dealership and they said that although they know about this issue, since it is not under warranty, car has 60000 miles, and is not included in the recall, I would have to pay $120 for them to diagnose it. The serviceman recommended I fix it soon because it is a mechanical part that could fail causing a serious safety issue putting me and others on the road at risk. He said that I would have to pay the entire amount to fix it though since it is out of warranty and not included in the recall. Please encourage Honda to include the 2022 CRV in the recall!

Subject: Safety Concern: Electronic System/BCM Failure – 2022 Honda CR-V Hybrid Vehicle Information: Year/Make/Model: 2022 Honda CR-V Hybrid VIN: [XXX] ] Approximate Mileage: [45,200] Component: Electrical System / Body Control Module (BCM) Description of Incident: On [04/13/2026], my vehicle experienced a sudden and total failure of the Body Control Module (BCM). The vehicle’s security alarm began triggered randomly and could not be silenced or deactivated. Simultaneously, the key fobs became completely unresponsive, preventing me from locking, unlocking, or disarming the vehicle. Upon entering, the dashboard displayed a "Christmas Tree" effect with all warning lights illuminated (ABS, Brake, TPMS, etc.) accompanied by a persistent audible beep. Safety Risk: This failure creates a significant safety hazard. Because the key fob and locking systems failed, I was unable to secure the vehicle. Furthermore, the loss of communication between the BCM and other safety modules (like ABS and Traction Control) puts the driver at risk of losing critical safety features while in motion. Prior History: This issue is identical to the symptoms found in NHTSA Recall 20V771 (affecting 2018–2020 Honda models). It appears the defect persists in the 2022 CR-V Hybrid model year, yet no recall has been issued for this specific VIN range. Requested Action: I am requesting that NHTSA investigate the 2022 Honda CR-V Hybrid for BCM-related electrical failures to determine if a safety recall is necessary to prevent further incidents of driver stranding and safety system malfunctions. When driving long distance (car is warmed up), and taking a left turn or a left curve on freeway, the steering wheel sticks, and does not return to center. When doing it manually, there is a popping sound before it returns to center. Its the same thing when taking the car out of parking lot after it is standing there overnight. This is not the first time this happened, as it has happened many times before but we assumed it is the tires going bad.

Difficulties with steering for a month, progressively getting worse and did not present dashboard warnings. A grabbing sensation and clicking noise occurs in steering wheel while turning when driving both high and slow speeds. Certified dealer service center able to replicate the problem. They provided me with a copy of a service Bulletin issued in September 2024 on the problem but stated there’s no active recall for my VIN and thus would cost $4700. I had to sign off releasing them of any liability before driving away as I chose not to get the costly repair at this time. Was told to drive it as little as possible The car is fairly new and only 86k in mileage. There are various documented sources for a similar problem that qualifies as a recall for several other models including mine but a different year. This is clearly a safety concern leaving the consumer with a hefty repair cost just to feel safe.

2022 Honda CRV with 39,000 miles: When driving at high speeds (55+) when coming out of a turn/curve in the road, the steering wheel sticks/grabs for a split second, then releases, making steering seem unsafe. Issue seems more likely to happen in warmer temperatures 60 degrees and above. Also gets worse if car is driven for longer time. Since first noticing the issue in early April, now sometimes even going straight, the wheel will grab and steering has to be corrected. No warning lights have come on. Steering is sticky (resistant as though in a notch) when turning the steering wheel to the right or left beyond 30 degrees at highway speeds, or beyond 90 degrees at parking speeds. Issue seems more prevalent when turning left than right. Lane keep assist is off at all times. The steering system issue is a safety concern, as loss of control at highway speeds could cause a crash. Diagnostic by local Honda service center would cost ~$199. Was told by service consultant that a steering system repair (if necessary) would not be covered by warranty. Have not taken to non-Honda service center for inspection, estimate, or repair yet. There are no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem. Experiencing reoccurring “sticky steering” when making left hands turns at highway speeds (as when taking off ramps). When the steering wheel is turned it will notch or stick at a certain point in its travel and not freely return to center. You have to apply a small amount of force to free it from the stuck position. If the wheel was to lock up when driving at high speed it could cause a significant safety issue. I have contacted Honda about the issue and I’m awaiting their response. I am aware there is a recall for 2023-25 CR-Vs for the same sticky steering issue. The problem I’m experiencing has not been inspected by anyone yet. No warning lamps or other symptoms were present prior or during the steering malfunction.

I had driven may a mile and was turning right onto a street. As soon as I turned onto the street my car just stopped and would not move. I had no power -- I put my gas pedal all the way down and it would only inch along. I was so scared that I would get rear ended. I immediately put on my flashers and prayed no one would hit me. I finally inched my way into the grass. I kept trying to get power to my car but it would not get any power. I sat there for about a half hour and kept trying. I finally got enough power to be able to turn around and get back home. The next morning I went to start my car and it was a very very rough start to get it started. I decided then to take it to the Honda dealer. On my way to the Honda dealer, my car did the "lose power" again. I had to sit there for about 15 minutes before I finally had enough power. I "inched" my way to the dealer. They called and said it was the fuel injectors and that they needed to be replaced. My car is a 2022 with 56,000 miles on it. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN with that low of mileage. Honda has said this was not a covered repair even though I had no power to my vehicle. I did research and have found that there is a definite issue with the 2022 Honda CRV fuel injectors but they only have covered certain VIN numbers. My VIN number is not in that replacement -- which I don't understand. This should be a recall on ALL Honda 2022 CRV's. This is a very expensive repair and I feel Honda should cover the replacement of these fuel injectors.

We purchased this vehicle as a Honda Certified Pre-Owned vehicle. I have included a copy of the 182-Point Inspection Checklist that I received when I/we purchased the vehicle. The issue is the weatherstripping on both sides of the middle row. The material does not fit the area and causes wind and weather to effect the interior of the vehivcle. We feel that this issue is a manufacturer defect and should have been detected/rectified during that 182-Point Inspection. My wife and myself are the only user of the vehicle and we never have a reason to sit in the middle row. Per chance, our daughter's dog was in the middle row and when I turned to check on him, I noticed that weatherstripping issue. Upon reaching home, I further noticed that the issue existed on both the passenger and driver side - middle row doors. I also found a Technical Information & Support Group bulletin addressed to "All Honda Service Managers/Advisors", "RE: Request for Parts: 2023-2024 Accord & CR-V Rear Door Weatherstrip". I realize this bulletin does not address my year vehicle but wanted to bring to light that this seems to be an issue that is prevalent on the CR-V. We notified the dealer who inspected and confirmed that the issue exists but were told that because the care is not longer under original warranty, the repair would cost us $600+. We have since notified American Honda USA under the extended warranty we purchased and feel that they are dragging their feet on this issue. I received a call from American Honda USA and agreed to a settlement to have the issue resolved at the dealer where we bought the vehicle for a total out-of-pocket to me of $200 + taxes. On Wednesday, November 26, 2025, I took my 2022 Honda CR-V Hybrid to the dealership for a routine oil change. The service team told me that all systems showed the vehicle was in good condition. They advised me to return for my next oil change and regular maintenance. I did not drive anywhere on Thursday, November 27, which was Thanksgiving Day. On Friday, November 28, while driving to work on the highway, the engine warning light turned on and my car began to slow down. Pressing the accelerator did not help—the vehicle would not speed up and lost power while I was driving on the highway. This was a very stressful and unsafe situation. I had to pull over onto the shoulder with a line of cars behind me. My car was towed to the dealership. The dealership said they could not find anything wrong with it. However, I experienced a clear and serious problem. Not only did I miss work, but I also had to pay $238.95 for the towing service. After researching, I found there was a recall issued on December 18, 2023, for a fuel pump failure that can cause the engine to stall while driving, which increases the risk of a crash. However, this recall did not include the 2022 model year, which is the year of my vehicle. The recall describes exactly what happened to me. Honda should include the 2022 CR-V Hybrid in the recall and therefore; replace the fuel pump module at no cost to help ensure everyone’s safety.

The most urgent issue with my vehicle is the automatic braking system. During several instances driving during the day and at night, my car has done what’s referred to as “phantom braking” where it detects something in the road, though the road is completely clear and open and the brakes engage and suddenly stop my car. It’s happened on occasions where it triggers the brakes lightly and it’s happened so intensely that my seat buckle has locked up throwing my head forward and my car comes to a near stop on the FREEWAY. It happens on regular roads as well, but the freeway is especially dangerous especially traveling at a higher rate of speed for the breaks to be engaged and rapidly slow my car down. I have been so fortunate that the times it has happened the people behind me had enough reaction time or there was no one behind me. This has happened on numerous occasions and for almost every incident it occurred I’ve had a witness (my parter at the time) they saw how jarring, intense and dangerous the braking was and how it happened out of nowhere. I brought this up to my dealership but they kept shooing me away saying that it’s not a problem and if I wanted to I could turn the automatic braking system off every single time I start my car (because that resets once your car is off and will be active the next time it’s in use) after an extreme incident on the freeway that almost got me into an accident (with a witness) I brought it to them again to which they told me my warranty was up and if I wanted to “check it out” for problems I would need to pay out of pocket and again recommended that I turn it off every time I start my vehicle. They said they wanted to see the problem themselves but it does not happen every drive. You have no idea when it is going to happen so it’s impossible to test with the intention of seeing for yourself. It’s completely random. I’ve also had electrical issues but the brake system is my priority.

Initially the issue happened when the car had 31k miles on it and was repaired by Honda under warranty. Now, at 51k the same steering issue is happening again and they are charging me to fix it. The first part replacement only last one year and 5 months. There is a well known issue with Honda CRV steering - why isn’t my 2022 CRV included in the recall? The steering wheel also feels like it becomes detached and loose when steering in a parking lot and knocks/pops with hard turns. The drivers side seatbelt doesn’t roll back up when disconnected causing it to stay loose and fall in the door way which has caused several large dents in my car due to the seatbelt falling in the door way as I close the door.

Since this a wide spread issue well documented online, I would expect for there to be a recall - but there is not one on my 2022 CRV even though I have experienced the issue twice now. The dealership and Honda Corp is agreeing to pay a large portion of the $3000+ bill but I am still stuck paying nearly $200 for a defect that should be covered fully due to obvious manufacturing defects in the part. I was driving at 10am today on a local road, about 35mph, with no car in front of me, nor behind me. I was the only car in the area. Suddenly both the automatic emergency braking (AEB) system and the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) were activated. I was concerned when it happened, not knowing if the car would come to a stop. I called my local Honda Dealer Service Department, asking if they could check it out. He said they could take it for a test drive to see if it would happen again. Since this was the only time it happened we agreed to wait to see if it happens again before bringing it in. Once home I searched the NHTSA database and discovered similar instances, and an open Investigation, EA24002. I wanted to be sure to add my incident to the others to help in finding a resolution.

At approximately 37,000 miles, the steering wheel developed a sticking issue. After researching the issue, we learned that Honda issued a recall involving the steering rack. Somehow, our VIN is not part of the recall. It falls under the years, and models, of the recall. This is a safety issue, especially at highway speeds. It appears to be the exact same issue as those on the recall. We have not yet had it officially diagnosed ($200 cost) and, a replacement would be $3,000-$4,000. Car now has 42,000 miles.

Steering catches when turning like it gets stuck. I will have to apply extra pressure to come out of a turn. ODI #11663500STEERING

I am writing to formally report a concerning issue I’ve experienced with my vehicle's power steering system. The steering intermittently "sticks" or resists turning, requiring slight but deliberate manual force to free it while driving. This occurs unexpectedly and is especially noticeable when taking a slight curve at a lower-speed. The sticking sensation feels as if the steering wheel momentarily locks in place or becomes unusually resistant, which can compromise driver control and response time. While the resistance is not extreme, it is persistent and potentially hazardous, particularly in situations that require quick or precise steering input to avoid obstacles or maintain lane position. This issue raises significant safety concerns, and I believe it may indicate a defect in the power steering system—whether mechanical, electronic, or software-related. I urge the NHTSA to investigate this matter, as even minor delays or inconsistencies in steering performance could increase the risk of an accident. I have talked with a couple of local dealerships who acknowledge that they have seen this issue in the newer CR-Vs but no recalls have been issued. Vehicle Details: Make/Model: Honda CR-V Year: 2022 VIN: [XXX] Vehicle has never been involved in any wrecks or accidents. I started experiencing the 'sticky steering' issue about 3 weeks ago. I thought it could be low power steering fluid, and after a quick research I came to know that new CRVs use EPAS instead. After some research I found that 'sticky steering' is a known issue and there is a TSB and recall by honda. I checked the recall using my VIN, abd came to know that my CRV wasn't listead for that recall. I called honda customer service at 8009991009 and they confirned that the recall exists for 2022 Honda CRV but my vehicle is not included. I asked how they can exclude my vehicle when I am experiencing the same issue, I was advised that the recall is based on certain production and parts origin. I was advised to go to a honda dealership and pay out-of-pocket. I asked if they can add my VIN to the recall list and they said no. Instead of smoothly returning to center, the steering wheel sticks in the left position and has to be forced right to center or to turn back right. Obviously having steering that is stuck or that has to be forced can be dangerous, especially at highway speeds. It also sometimes makes a knocking sound when turned all the way to the left. Vehicle has steering issues that act up intermittently and sporadic. The steering issue has been intermittent for the past 8 months or so. When I am going around a right-hand curve in the road the steering wheel will get "sticky" or stuck in a certain spot and require more force than is generally required to turn the wheel. In other words, normally the steering is like butter and moves easily and freely in any direction. But when this issue occurs the steering is no longer easy to move but gets stiff or "sticky" in a certain location. Also, if I am making a sharp right hand turn from one street onto another the steering sometimes makes a click noise and I get a vibration and leftwards tugging sensation feeling to the left in the steering wheel. This is also a very intermittent and sporadic problem. I feel this is a safety issue because the "sticky steering" is alarming while you are driving and there is the potential for one to overcompensate and possibly crash. I took the vehicle back to where I bought it in April 2024 for this steering issue. I bought it at JONES HONDA, MANHEIM PIKE, LANCASTER PA. Jones simply told me that they could not duplicate the problem and I should return when the vehicle is experiencing these issues. I returned one week later when the car was acting up for me but the technician rode along and I could not get the car to act up again on our ride. The problem is very intermittent and that makes it especially difficult to get fixed. However, having said that, I don't feel Jones Honda has been honest with me about what they know about similar complaints and I don't feel Jones has made a good faith effort to do what is required to fix the issue. There are no odd warning lights or anything that comes on which might help pinpoint the issue.

I am experiencing steering wheel sticking and clunkig after the car warms up and typically 40 minutes into the drive. The dealership has denied this and claimed it was a low voltage issue with the battery. While turning in a gentle curve it sticks and requires more effort to steer and also makes a clucking sound. I am concerned about the ability to control my vehicle and that if the steering sticks I may crash. I have reported the issue with Honda but they say that all I can do is take the car to the dealership for diagnostics. Two different dealerships have had it for extended times and claimed nothing is wrong however I have video of me driving and this occuring on multiple occassions. Honda's denial of this issue will cause injuries to bystanders. No warning lights have come on. The issues began in november of 2023 and are progressively getting worse.

“Sticky steering” Seems like there is an investigation into this already but no recall for the 2022 cr-v. Sticky steering causes the wheel to stick in place and require more force to turn the wheel resulting in dangerous jerky steering at high speeds.

Lately there is resistance in the steering. When driving with wheel in "fixed" position such as straight lane or gradual turn on exit ramp, it is more difficult to turn the wheel out of this fixed position. The problem seems to be getting worse, and I am concerned about safety. What if at some point it resists moving all together and I am unable to steer? Since fall 2023 the steering has been sticking and jerky, originally at highway speeds but now at nearly all speeds. It feels like lane-assist is engaging but it’s not. This becomes dangerous when the steering requires more pressure than anticipated, potentially resulting in overcompensation. For example, when traveling 70 hours mph and navigating a slight curve in the road, the steering wheel will stick and nearly cause a lane change which requires a quick turn of the wheel. The vehicle was taken to a Honda dealer and I participated in a ride-along with the technician, who could not reproduce the issue. There are no warning lamps or codes visible.

Had my 3rd service done on my 2022 Honda CR-V EX-L 5/24/21 and for the third time the rear end was out of alignment. When I researched the issue online I found that this was an issue with this body style CR-V and a TSB was issued for this due to the excessive tire wear that is happening due to this alignment issue. My tires had been making a whomping sound since after my second service at 15000 miles. My vehicle now has 22750 miles on the tires and has worn unevenly causing the whomping sound and need to be replaced prematurely. They have worn down from 10.1/32nds to between 5/32nd to 6/32nds depending where on the tire you measure. This is due to the alignment being out and causing this uneven wear. After showing the dealership the TSB about this they reached out to their American Honda district rep who graciously agreed to assist in helping with the cost of replacing my tires due to this issue. I had also contacted Honda Consumer Affairs to report my unhappiness with this issue and they informed me that my year model was not covered by the issued TSB 20-081 and 20-048 and refused to honor the repair under 20-081 and pay to have the alignment done to the new specs described in TSB 20-048. They stated It only covers through model year 2018-2021 which is the same body style as the 2022 and I am having the same issue that was reported as the previous years vehicle. The alignment should not be going out in that short of time and causing excessive tire wear. I did not have this issues with my two previous Honda's being driven over the same roads. The 2022 model CR-V should be included in the TSB's.

ODI #11589397STEERING

While exiting the highway the steering wheel stuck in a turn and it extra took force to straighten to stay within the limits of the roadway. The care swerved form due to over correcting and took work to keep it on the road. The steering seems to have a sticking point in it causing to over correct to get past this point in the gearbox. I have also noticed a clicking noise at low speeds when moving the steering wheel from side to side. I had originally thought that this was due to the lane keep assist but this was turned off at the time of the near accident.

ODI #11589011STEERING

Steering wheel becomes "jerky" and sticks, then suddenly releases causing car to move quickly in one direction. Difficult to keep in place. Also makes loud popping sound when turning. This can cause car to come in contact with whatever is beside you, a car in another lane, or a barrier or ditch on the opposite side. This can obviously cause an accident putting driver and passengers in danger and also those not in the vehicle. The problem has been confirmed by the dealer I purchased the car from and they have stated it is unsafe for highway travel. They said I could drive around town, but that prohibits my driving to other areas. Also, feels unsafe driving even locally. They have ordered new system but says part is on backorder and they don't know when it will be in. There were no warning lights regarding this issue. Car has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance or others, just the Honda dealer where purchased.

Problem with car was first noticed around 16,300 miles. The severity of the problem is intermittent. Sometimes it happens about 15- 20 times in a mile and at other times just a few. The steering wheel is pulled to the right when not steering in that direction. It almost feels like the lane assist is on, but it is not. Also, when backing out of a parking spot and the wheel is pulled at a sharp angle there is a creaking sound and the steering wheel has intermittent resistance. The car was brought to a Honda service center at 16,598 and they could not reproduce the problem until I drove the car with them and then they agreed that there is a problem. When driving 25-45 mph on winding roads, the front right tire feels like it's grabbing the road when I'm following a slight right hand curve in the road - then the steering wheel bounces back when I straighten the wheels to follow the road. The steering wheel feels twitchy while I'm driving at speeds under 50 mph. No one has been injured or put in danger to this point in time when this happens. I had the car serviced on 5/1/2024 and a Tech drove the car but wasn't able to duplicate the experience. The tires were rotated and a 4 wheel alignment was done. However, the same issue appeared after leaving the dealership. It's listed as a 45HOZ05 - Suspension Concern. I leased this 2022 CRV Touring AWD on October 28, 2022 and the Steering Problem started occurring in late 2023. I called my salesman while I was driving and experiencing the problem in late 2023 and told him about the weird steering. The first year I drove the car, there weren't any issues. The steering sticks/binds when making small corrections in turns. When sticking it requires extra effort to turn, and then will over-correct. Problem seems worst when the steering wheel is turned between 15 degrees or more from center. Problem is intermittent and seems to get worse the farther the car is driven without stopping. Left hand decreasing radius curves seem to be the worst with the wheel sometime snapping/popping back when the accelerator is applied at the exit end of a curve. Maintaining control within my lane in a left turn at 30-70 mph is difficult when problem is most acute. This is definitely a safety issue which is disconcerting at best and dangerous at worst. Sometimes can feel the stickiness even when sitting still and turning the wheel past 20 degrees off-center, with occasional popping noises coming from the steering box. I am very concerned since this problem has gotten markedly worse in the last six months, even though it is still not consistent each time driven. There is definitely something wrong in the steering gearbox with something causing it to bind intermittently.

I contacted Honda and let them know about it and they refused to look more into it as well. They said since they don't know the reason, its environmental. I think this is a safety issue since it could be related to faulty glass or improper installation, maybe a defect. I had to cover the opening with plastic sheeting and painters tape to keep the area dry.

Automatic Emergency Braking\Forward Collision Warning. I've got this vehicle as a brand-new about 10 months ago. Since fall 2022 there were several wrong BRAKE notifications on IP cluster screen with beeping signal while the road was clear, empty with no no precipitation weather. Probably the hill-like road surface can be a reason. Today it is sunny. My lane was clean and empty. In the left U-turn lane was a Chevrolet Tahoe or similar GMC vehicle with rear radar device noticable by rear bumper shape (it could be a reason of incident). When I was accelerating and getting closer to that vehicle but staying in my lane, my vehicle unexpectedely automatically used brackes for couple seconds until - I assume - the left vehicle has been passed or it just drove out. Several hours later my chest still aching besause of seatbelt hit. I saw similar complains at NHTSA so I was kind of ready to that...

Driving N on Hwy US-24 in Redford MI near Detroit Diesel at approx 45mph on Sun morning 4/30/2023, the moonroof exploded and shattered glass fell onto driver and front seat passenger. Shattered glass also broke loose and fell to rear of vehicle, causing car behind us to avoid debris by changing lane. The sudden failure of sun/moonroof was without warning, no apparent object struck it, we were not passing under a bridge. The loud boom of explosion was alarming to driver and passenger. The shade was open and we quickly closed it to stop more broken glass from falling onto us. It was raining, approximately 40-45 deg F outside, the car interior temp was 68 deg F. We made temporary repair with cardboard and emergency rain poncho to close opening in roof. We proceeded home at 30-40mph. I collected broken glass by hand, then vacuumed all interior surfaces thoroughly; found no foreign object that could have struck glass. We contacted dealer Monday reporting problem. Dealer stated Honda unlikely to cover glass under warranty claim. Dealer stated there was no recall, technical bulletin or product update concerning sun/moonroofs spontaneously exploding. Dealer did contact Honda and replacement was made under warranty as 'goodwill.' We are happy Honda covered cost of replacement, but did not acknowledge any material defect, workmanship or safety issue. Vehicle is kept in garage when home and open parking lot at work; to our knowledge the roof glass panel was not compromised by any object hitting or scratching it. This is a safety issue: roof glass panels should not explode without warning and broken glass fall on driver or passengers under normal vehicle operation. The loud noise at failure is distracting to driver. Further, broken glass may fall to rear of vehicle. These glass panels' failure mode should be similar to that of front windshield where broken glass retains some integrity. Until then, consumers should be advised, shades closed and emergency closure kits issued.

I was driving in slow-moving traffic (about 10 or 15 mph) as there were several police officers walking in the shoulder to the right of traffic. The brakes suddenly and strongly engaged for no reason. There was no steel plate in the road, no slowed or stopped vehicle or pedestrian in my path. As far as I know the brake warning light did not come on. The abrupt braking caused my neck and back to hurt, and I thought I had hit a child or a dog. As I looked behind me there was clearly nothing in my lane. I could have been rear-ended but was not.

The car intermittently slams on the brakes, often at high speeds, and the brakes sticks, leaving me potentially unable to avoid a rear-end collision. This has happened twice with no obstacle in front of the vehicle in the last month and once within the last month where an obstacle was ahead but at a far enough distance the AES should not have been triggered, let alone stick. The front sensors (behind the rear view mirror and behind the Honda logo on the grill) have been inspected for damage by the dealership and user. They are in perceivably good working condition. This problem appears to be connected to a similar malfunction with LKAS, in which the system is turned off (according to the vehicle displays and verified by following owner manual instructions) and the car is driven on a surface with no lanes (I.e. a dirt road) and LKAS indicates there is a lane departure. There is no option to turn either system completely off, which leaves the driver with no recourse in the event these systems malfunction.

While driving with a passenger across Salt Lake City on I-15 yesterday, going the speed limit and no surrounding vehicles, the passenger window imploded into a million tiny pieces sending glass all over the passenger and even as far as the driver (me). We did not see any evidence of a rock or other object hitting the window and there wasn't anything unusual inside the car. The outside temperature was 30 degrees and the car had been in a heated garage all night. The passenger had cuts on his hands, but he was wearing sun glasses which protected his eyes. He had glass pieces all over him. I honestly believe this was a spontaneous event, but I suppose there is a remote chance that a rock could have hit the window. But there weren't any cars in the area or overpasses.

They told me it was ok to drive and to bring it in to the dealer. I did that. Had to get ride so I could leave the car. The alarm stopped on the way to the dealer. The next day they told me they could not find what was wrong with the car, but it was ok to drive, and it if happened again, take a video. If they didn't know what was wrong with the car, HOW DID THEY KNOW IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE? I picked up the car and a couple days later it did the same thing. Even turning the car off and cranking it back up would not make it stop. I did stop and take videos of the flashing messages, which are attached here, and also sent them to the dealer. I took the car in and they said they got the videos, and they would now be able to fix it. The next day they said come pick it up, but said they THOUGHT it needed the front radar/camera replaced but they did not have one. They said it would be July before they could get the part. But they continued to say it is safe to drive. Since then, it had done this several more times, and I took videos again. Those are attached as well. They called today and said it would be August before they could get the parts. I strongly suspect that they do not actually know what it wrong, and that they have not done any actual microelectronic or software troubleshooting, and they are just guessing that this part will fix it. I am now forced to drive a car that is questionably safe. I mean, when an alarm sounds and a warning light flashes that says "BRAKE SYSTEM" how can it be safe to drive?

I purchased a new Honda CR-V EXL AWD in Jan 2022 and it has only 1971 miles. Now, the transmission is completely dead with these miles. The dealership informed me that this requires a new transmission which is covered under Honda warranty. The strange thing is that I didn't receive any warning or notification in my dashboard that transmission is getting bad/worse. Luckily, the car was stopped on a residential county road but I can't imagine if the power is getting dropped and stopped on the freeway without any warning. This is one of the biggest safety concerns and this would be a life threatening incident. I have already owned a Honda civic in the past and never had any issue, but I was highly disappointed with this incident and lost confidence with Honda. Please refund my money back :-( What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request ? Ans: Transmission failed. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Ans: The transmission failed without any warning and the vehicle stopped completely on the road, which is a life threatening issue, if that happens on the freeway/highways. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center?  Ans: UNKNOWN Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Ans: This is a brand new vehicle which was bought in Jan 2022 and has 1971 miles on it. I just bought (last month) a new, 2022 Honda CR-V-EX-L. I have always been a Honda girl, and decided it was time for a new car and bought another Honda…..my 3rd CR-V (I also had a pilot). Anyways, I just bought this car last month. It is a beautiful car, but I feel it’s dangerous for two reasons. The biggest concern is that the hood was redesigned from previous models that I had, and now the sides of the hood protrudes higher than the rest of the hood, making it quite difficult to see over the hood, particularly going around turns and up hills. Which is a huge safety issue. And you may be thinking, why don’t I just lift the seat……well the seat is as high as it goes (a definite flaw), so that is of no help. Secondly, the audio system is definitely a hazard. The touch screen does not always work, and you may have to push on the screen several times before getting it to work, thus distracting the driver. Additionally, when talking to people on Bluetooth and one party hangs up, the phone does not go back to the radio automatically, and you have to keep touching the touchscreen to get you back to what you were on prior to the call. Definitely another safety issue. That being said, I am mostly worried about the hood issue. I do not feel safe continuing to drive my brand new Honda, which is really sad, since I buy Honda's because of their safety ratings. If this is an issue for me, I am sure this an issue for others, and likely has already contributed to accidents. Thank-you, [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

The heating system on the vehicle is insufficient. The cabin does not warm up when idling in the winter. Defrosting on cold days becomes an issue which creates a potential hazard for visibility. The red bar on the temperature guage will not appear when idling and the temperature rises and the red bar appears only after the car has been driven. Searching online on this issue indicates this is an issue where many CRV owners have had this weak heating system issue. I contacted the dealer and they said "Yes we are aware of that. And that's the way it is and nothing can be done about it." So there appears to be no intent by Honda to address this weak heating system issue which is a big problem in winter weather. Thus my filing this complaint. Honda should perform a recall and correct this problem.
