Deferred Failure Risk
Components and defects approaching or past their known service milestones
Worn chain tensioners cause timing chain skip or snap — common on GM 5.3L/6.2L, Ford EcoBoost, VW/Audi EA888, BMW N47/N63. Listen for cold-start rattles.
Water pump failure causes rapid overheating. If the engine overheats even once, head gasket damage is likely — turning a $400 part into a $3,000+ repair.
Degraded transmission fluid destroys clutch packs and solenoids. CVT transmissions are especially sensitive — neglected fluid can result in a $4,000–$8,000 replacement.
Degraded coolant loses corrosion inhibitors and attacks aluminum engine components. Can cause head gasket failure and water pump corrosion.
Worn spark plugs cause misfires that can foul and crack catalytic converters. A $150 tune-up can prevent a $1,200 catalytic converter replacement.
Dirty or failing injectors cause rough idle, reduced fuel economy, and increased emissions. Cleaning costs $100–$200; replacement $800–$1,600.
Documented systemic defect with class action or NHTSA investigation. These issues are often unrepaired at point of sale.

Vehicle has only 100,395 miles on it (Hondas are know for being long lasting), vehicle was burning radiator fluid and repair for new head gasket and cylinder head is over $6300! Hondas are known to last a long time, a 2020 model with 100,000 needing a repair that is nearly half the value of the vehicle is shocking - i have seen similar complaints online and want to file my complaint officially.
There is a known Recall for my vehicle and Honda has been negligent in attempting to fix the Recall.
My 2020 CR-v hybrid has suddenly lost power on the freeway a total of 4 times in the 6 years I've owned it. It is always at freeway speeds. The flashing engine light appears and the car loses power. After pulling over, turning off the car, and waiting a few minutes, the car can be turned on and driven with no more flashing engine light and no more problems for months. Each time I've taken it to the dealer and each time they haven't been able to replicate or find the problem. I've been told that error codes were not generated. I purchased my car new in July 2020, and the power-loss incidents were: - Fall 2020 - Summer 2022 - December 2024 - June 2026 A google search shows that many other crv hybrid owner have experienced the same problem, and also have had service technicians unable to find problem. This is a major safety concern.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed, however the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. In addition, several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with low fuel pressure. The contact was advised to contact the dealer. In addition, the contact was informed of an unknown recall; however, the VIN was not associated with a recall related to the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline and report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.
Almost all lightsnlitenup on dash and Honda attempted to claim i was in accident and daid the entire radar system had to be replaced at expense of 3300.oo dollars. The fault had to be intheir craftmenship not my handling car.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V064000 (Air Bags) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The dealer was contact multiple times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer confirmed that the remedy parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact had not experienced a failure.
On multiple occasions, this vehicle has initiated automated braking with no other vehicles in the immediate proximity. On 2 occasions, the automated braking has resulted in near misses of rear end collisions. This is an intermittently occurring fault that has become more frequent as of late. The vehicle has <100k on the odometer. The vehicle was taken to the local Honda dealer and their investigative procedure included an 8 min test drive of less than 5 miles and reported that there was nothing wrong with the system. No attempt to make any corrections or improvements was attempted.
My dealer won’t make the recall repair with the excuse the factory isn’t sending him the parts. That’s been his excuse for 2 years.
tHE VEHICLE IS ACTIVATING EMERGENCY BRAKE ASSIST WITH NO OBJECT IN FRONT OF IT CAUSING THE BRAKES TO SLAM ON WHILE DRIVING. LANE DEPARTURE WARNING IS TRYING TO CORRECT/MOVE VEHICLE INTO A DIFFERENT LANE
I am the second owner of this vehicle. Upon purchase, i chose to purchase all extended warranties so that I had minimal out of pocket costs to maintain and repair my vehicle. I had the vehicle maintained regularly at LaFontaine Honda in Dearborn. A couple days before my scheduled service in December 2025, several warning lights became lit on the dash. I called the LaFontaine Honda, expressed my concerns and asked if I could bring the vehicle in immediately. I brought the vehicle in on December 3, 2025, and after several hours of diagnostics, it was determined that the engine needed to be replaced. Vehicle mileage was 121,766 and I was informed that the warranty expired at 120,000. Tried to call Honda for assistance and they stated there was no assistance available, I would have to pay for the repairs. This Dealer serviced my vehicle the entire time that I owned it for 2 1/2 years. I purchased all extended warranties, and they would not help me. They only said they would put me in another vehicle put the negative equity in my new car loan. I was then ghosted by the service manager and sales manager. I had to go elsewhere and pay $8,595.76 for a used engine. I paid for the extended warranty and when I really needed it, Honda failed me.
Every summer, on particularly hot days—typically after driving for about 10 minutes—the steering wheel feels as if it is jammed; turning it becomes extremely stiff and difficult. However, when the weather cools down, the steering becomes perfectly smooth again, with no issues whatsoever. Since my English proficiency is limited, I visited the dealership's service department; unfortunately, because the weather happened to be cool at the time, they were unable to detect any problems during their inspection.
In November 2025 a new transmission was installed Curry Honda in Atlanta GA on my 2020 Honda CR-V. The new transmission came with a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty. In March 2026 my vehicle broke down and was towed to Tameron Honda in Daphne Al where a speed sensor was replaced at my expense of 388.44. The adaptive cruise control was not working prior to this repair. Within two weeks the vehicle experienced further issues and had to be driven in a compromised condition back to Curry Honda in Atlanta where the transmission wire harness was diagnosed as corroded and replaced at a cost of 1696.99. My vehicle has been garage-kept its entire life except when in the care of a dealership. Corrosion on a recently replaced transmission in a garage-kept vehicle cannot be attributed to environmental exposure or owner neglect. It points directly to a defective part of improper installation at Curry Honda. These failures occurred within months of a new transmission installation with no prior history of issues. I believe this is a safety defect as the vehicle broke down unexpectedly and had to be driven in a compromised condition posing a safety risk.
While driving the car at the speed limit on a flat, paved road the sunroof spontaineously shattered..
Last night I turned left out of an ally and heard a loud thunk like noise similar to when you run over a rock and it shoots out from under your tire. Noise was in the front passenger side. Thought nothing of it at the time. Then today I heard it again turning into the gas station. Then while driving I heard it once while just taking off from a stop sign and again pulling out of a parking lot. My husband has taken it for a drive of 12 miles and has been unable to recreate the noise. Sounds almost like the spring on the strut is broke or something in that area needs fixed.
Noticed problems with steering the vehicle. Initially the was not smooth when driving or turning and the steering would go through a very brief but light indecisive bump This problem started a week ago and has become worse. Plan to take car to dealer for diagnostics. Called Honda corporate and it looks like they may assist me with this
For the last two years, our CR-V has had random engine failures where the car will lose power and the ability to accelerate. If you're going uphill it will stop entirely, otherwise you can usually limp along at about 20mph. We've taken the car in to the Honda dealer multiple times with no fix. We've had to abandon the car since Honda won't fix it and it's a complete safety hazard. The final incident happened while I was driving in a tunnel in a 60mph zone. The car died and I had nowhere to pull off so I was forced to slowly crawl through the tunnel as cars flew by me going 70mph. I was finally able to get out of the tunnel and pull over in a remotely safe place. Once you turn the car off, the system resets and you can drive again until the issue happens again. Honda diagnosed the issue, reproduced and confirmed the issue and, despite having an 8-year full warranty we bought when we bought the car new, they refused to fix it stating that they simply aren't able to. Their recommendation was to take the car and monitor the issue, despite confirming the extreme danger the car poses to us. We've asked them to replace the car with anything of similar value that won't be a safety threat, or buy the car back since we can't drive it. It's been sitting at the dealership for the last month and a half. We've now been forced to hire an attorney to help resolve this since Honda is refusing to take accountability for selling a completely unsafe vehicle.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving in a parking lot and depressing the brake pedal, there was a clunking sound coming from the braking system before the brakes became inoperable. The contact forcefully depressed the brake pedal, and the vehicle eventually came to a stop. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with an electrical wiring short. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 13,000.
Vehicle slow cranks when engine is being turned on. When driving and rpm reaches over 2000, vehicle stalls and puts the owner at risk of crash or injury. All warning lights are turned on. Safety is at risk due to the vehicle stalling It has been confirmed by an independent service center. The Honda dealership has refused service and refused on honoring recall due to VIN not listed on recall number 22V-380 No All warning lights came on along with the symptoms is stalling and slow cranking
On April 13, 20026 while traveling on a divided highway at about 70 mph, the car suddenly experienced rapid de-acceleration, similar to if someone slammed on the brakes. At the same time all dashboard warning lights began flashing. The car had failed and couldn't be driven. The Honda dealer in Rochester Minnesota said the turbocharger had failed. This was a very dangerous situation as it posed a real risk of being hit from behind by others who were still travelling at high speed while the failed car was dramatically slowing and trying to get off the road. This an unreasonable risk of injury and death not only to the driver and occupants but also to the general public and other nearby drivers and occupants. The Honda dealer in Rochester inspected and repaired the failed turbocharger and flushed the system and oil as required. The charge was $5,042.41 to replace the turbocharger and $736.48 to flush and change with fresh oil. This is without tax. Full invoice is available upon request. The Honda dealer inspected the car. No police report was filed. The car was towed back into Rochester by AAA. There was no warning lamps prior to the incident. The cars maintenance was up-to-date and has only about 60,00 miles. For a [XXX] old car, an engine failure that creates a serious risk of injury or death to the driver and public would suggest a recall is necessary to maintain public safety and make owner's whole. Choppy steering ,sticking, not smooth. Getting worse. It started when it was new . I did not know how lane departure assist worked,or felt. BUT EVEN IN THE OFF POSITION MY STEERING WAS STILL STICKY,AND CHOPPY. So I thought that this STICKY ,CHOPPY STEERING WAS NORMAL . It slowly has gotton worse , it has progressed to the point ,that I kmow that somthing is very wrong with my HONDAS steering. . I HAVE LOOKED INTO THIS PROBLEM ,IT IS NOW WELL DOCUMENTED THAT HONDA ,NEEDS TO REPAIR THIS DEFECT UNDER A RECALL ORDER. THIS is definatly a Honda Factory Defect in THEIR STEERING. The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle hesitated while maintaining automotive power. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local independent mechanic, where the mechanic retrieved DTC: P219F, and there were misfires with cylinders #3 and #4. The local dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired due to the costs. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The fuel delivery system and engine power management. The vehicle suffers from sudden "Limp Mode" activation and total loss of acceleration. The vehicle is available for inspection. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? My safety was severely compromised when the vehicle suddenly lost power while traveling at highway speeds. This occurred twice in high-speed traffic, creating an immediate risk of a rear-end collision as the vehicle could no longer maintain the flow of traffic or accelerate away from danger. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No. The issue was reported to a dealer in 2024, but because the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) turned off after a restart, the dealer was unable to reproduce the failure or find stored error codes at that time. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Yes, it was inspected by an authorized Honda dealer in 2024, but no repairs or actions were taken as they could not replicate the fault. 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No. There were no prior symptoms or early warnings. In both incidents (2024 and yesterday), the engine light illuminated simultaneously with a sudden, localized loss of speed and a total inability to power up or accelerate while on the highway.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 MPH, the vehicle suddenly decelerated with the check engine warning light flashing off and on. The vehicle was slowly driven to a nearby gas station. The vehicle was restarted and operated normally and was immediately driven to the local dealer. The local dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure had occurred once before. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact was informed of the NHTSA Action Number: PE25016 (ENGINE); and associated the failure with the NHTSA Action Number. The failure mileage was 27,327.
All warning lights began going off in car as driving. No overheating and search indicated it may be due to battery needing replacement. Drove to Honda dealer/service to have vehicle inspected and was informed Turbo charger failed. Between research done and a call to our local dealer and was told this is a common issue. Diagnostic report and quote for new engine and turbo attached. Please note they did not perform the search to confirm there is metal in the engine.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle started losing automotive power. The check engine warning light started flashing and then remained illuminated, and the vehicle failed to accelerate above 15 MPH. The contact stated that the battery was drained and showed only one bar of battery charge on the instrument panel. The contact stated that after pulling over and restarting the vehicle, the vehicle returned to normal operation. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times; however, the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving at 30 MPH, the brake warning light flashed and illuminated, and the vehicle hesitated while depressing the brake pedal. Neither an independent mechanic nor a dealer was contacted. The failure had occurred four times. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 44,505.
I am experiencing intermittent loss of motive power. Without warning at highway speeds I get a flashing check engine light immediately before the loss of motive power occurs. Motive power can be restored by turning the ignition off and back on. However, this action also clears the check engine light and any fault codes that were set. I drive with a code reader in the car and have received a P0302 code. This has happened at least five times since May 2024. It is available for inspection. I have brought it into a Honda dealership for repairs, they have changed the fuel injectors and pistons and it is still occurring. I was told this time that they did not know what was wrong so they could not repair anything. The safety of myself, my husband, and my seven month old daughter was out at risk as it occurs when traveling over 55 miles/hour and we lose power. We have to try and navigate to the side of the road to turn on and off the car. This problem was reproduced by a dealer this last time it went into the shop and it is there currently. The vehicle has only been inspected by Keeler Honda in Latham, New York. There were no other warnings prior to this failure. It has occurred multiple times, May 2024, November 2024, Feb 2025, March 2026 I have a video of what happens but I cannot upload it. This is exactly what is happening in NHTSA Action Number: PE25016
I was driving on the freewayin the night time on several occasions and the Emissions light and check engine light comes on and the car lost speed and would not accelerate. I had to put my hazards on to exit the freeway slowly to pull over turn the car off, sometimes this corrects the problems. but this has happened on several occasions. the vehicle is now at the dealer being diagnostic, they end up keeping the vehicle and haven't told me yet what the issue is.
I was sitting in the car with the car cranked on and then all my warnings lights and messages started flashing and blinking. The car was also idling on it’s on. I was scared because this has never happened before. So after looking for leaks under the hood , looking online to make sense of what was happening, turning it off and back on . I slowly drove to the Honda dealer down the street with my hazards lights on. Also due to it acting as if it wasn’t about to restart when I turned it off, and the car seemed like it wanted to cut off in traffic, This just happened on Saturday 3/14. It was the only incident of this kind, and the following Monday I got a call it was my fuel pump or fuel injection, and I was told gas was in my oil . I don’t know how or why this happened. I believe my car got missed in the recall for the issues the model has. I have done research and it has displayed a few of the issues stated online. I do know I have had other issues with my car screen going completely black in the car and my car throwing on brakes and nothing was there. Just wanted you all to be aware of this since I read this make and model have these issues.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the vehicle was started, and the gear shifter was stuck in park(P). Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The contact researched and became aware of an unstated recall; however, the VIN was not under recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000.
I been trying to work with the manufacturer, to solve the problem, so far I only get emails and phone calls with nowhere to go, the problem starts one year after we bought the vehicle , when every warning ligth comes on the vehicle take to the dealer who's only reset the system on the car with out giving any specific reason the problem comes so often, that I learn to do it my self, since doesn't look honda company doesn't have a answer for
My issue seems consistent with NHTSA Action Number PE25016. On March 4, 2026, I was driving and my check engine light start flashing. Shortly thereafter, I lost motive power. I was driving approximately 50 mph at the time. I pulled over and turned my car off and then back on, at which point the check engine light turned off and motive power was restored. I brought my car into the dealership later that day and was told there was nothing wrong with my car as they could not find a fault code and did not experience the loss of motive power while test driving my car. On March 10, 2026, I was driving and my check engine started flashing but I did not lose motive power. On March 14, 2026, I was driving and my check engine light started flashing. Shortly thereafter, I lost motive power. I was driving approximately 50 mph at the time. I pulled over and turned my car off and then back on, at which point the check engine light turned off and motive power was restored.
The brake warning light remains illuminated on the dashboard even when the parking brake is fully disengaged and while the vehicle is in motion. Same when the car is on or turned off. The brake warning light remain on continuously. Because this warning light is associated with the braking system, it creates uncertainty about whether the braking system and related safety systems are functioning properly while the vehicle is being driven. This raises safety concerns. The vehicle currently has approximately 50,000 miles and has been regularly maintained. The vehicle was inspected by a Honda dealership. After evaluation, the dealership indicated the issue may be related to the VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist) modulator. However, they stated they cannot confirm with certainty that replacing this component will resolve the issue. This will be an expensive repair with no warranty that’s the issue. All other possible issues with pads brake system, wires…were discarded and no code showed on the initial test. Since this warning involves a critical safety system and the cause has not been clearly identified, I am concerned this may represent a potential defect or premature failure of a braking system component.
Twice this has happened after the car is running for a bit all the lights cycle through as errors parking assist, hill assist, power steering, etc... Took to a dealership was told it is the fuel injectors and gas leaking into engine oil. Had to have my fuel injectors replace and get a new oil change due to gas in the oil. I see there is recalls for 2021-2025 but 2020 are also having the same issues. I have only had this car for 2 years and had to buy all new fuel injectors.
While driving, multiple warning lights suddenly illuminated on the dashboard and the vehicle immediately began running sluggish with significantly reduced engine power. The vehicle was unable to maintain normal driving speed and was operating below the posted speed limit, creating a potential traffic hazard and increasing the risk of a rear-end collision from faster-moving vehicles. I was able to carefully drive the vehicle home, but the condition persisted. After arriving home, the vehicle required multiple attempts to start, indicating an ongoing issue. I scanned the vehicle using an OBD diagnostic tool and retrieved diagnostic trouble code P0087 (Fuel Rail/System Pressure Too Low), indicating a malfunction in the fuel delivery or fuel pressure system, which may involve the fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, or related components. There were no prior warning signs before this incident; the warnings and loss of performance occurred suddenly while the vehicle was being driven under normal conditions. The sudden reduction in engine power created a safety concern due to the inability to maintain normal traffic speed. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, dealer, police, insurance representatives, or other third parties, but the vehicle and affected components are available for inspection upon request.
Driving at highway speeds in passing lane. Car lost power immediately and all dash lights came on. Very dangerous and almost got hit trying to pull over. dealer diagnosed High pressure fuel rail pump. Honda dealer charging $1800 to replace high pressure fuel pump
The contact's daughter owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that upon taking the vehicle to an independent mechanic for an oil change, the contact was informed that there was a mixture of oil and fuel in the oil pan. The contact stated that while checking the engine compartment later, there was an abnormally strong fuel odor coming from the engine compartment. Several unknown warning lights were temporarily illuminated. Several unknown dealers were contacted and confirmed that the VIN was not under recall. The vehicle was not yet diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was unreachable. The failure mileage was 50,399.
The same issue has happened twice. I'm driving on the highway, going maybe 60 or 65, and with no warning, the check engine light starts flashing and the car won't respond to the gas pedal. The car immediately starts to rapidly decelerate, and I can only try to get to the breakdown lane before I get rear-ended. I've been lucky (especially since my child was in the backseat both times). But when I stop the car, turn it off, then turn it on again, everything is fine. I can get back on the highway, and no problems occur. The codes are not stored, however, so I can't know what caused the problem. When this happened the first time (last year), I took it to the Honda dealer where I bought it, and they said they had never heard of this happening. When it happened the second time in January, I called Honda, spoke to an agent who gave me a case number (XXX), and said she has heard of something like this from other drivers, but the solutions were all different, so she couldn't say what would fix it for me. I did some internet research, and found other drivers who describe the exact same issue: [XXX] I've switched to premium gasoline ($$) and won't let it get lower than 1/4 full, and have an OBDII scanner in my glove compartment ready to go if it happens again. That said, this is a very dangerous defect, and I feel unsafe in my car. I am disturbed that a problem of with such potentially serious consequences has no solution that anyone can offer me. (Note: When I go to submit this, the final form leaves off the last # of the VIN. I tried to correct, but it happened again. The VIN is [XXX] , 2020 Honda CRV Hybrid. Best VIN ever.) I was driving the vehicle when all of a sudden all of the lights appeared on the dashboard.i took it in to the dealership and was told it was due to PO172 code.
While operating a 2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid, the vehicle suddenly caught fire with flames originating from the rear seat/rear passenger compartment area. There was no crash involved. Smoke and flames rapidly spread inside the vehicle, creating an immediate safety hazard and risk of serious injury. I evacuated immediately and emergency services were contacted. The fire department responded and extinguished the fire. The vehicle sustained severe fire damage and was declared a total loss. The fire appeared to start from inside the cabin near/under the rear seating area. The incident occurred without warning and there were no prior signs of mechanical issues immediately before the fire. This failure put the safety of the occupants and the public at risk due to the sudden and aggressive nature of the fire. The vehicle is currently in storage and remains available for inspection upon request by the manufacturer, insurer, or investigators.
Vehicle was parked on a slight incline with transmission in Park and electronic parking brake engaged. Engine was running. While unloading groceries, driver leaned into vehicle and pressed the engine start/stop button to turn the vehicle off. Immediately after engine shutoff, the vehicle began rolling backward. Driver attempted to re-engage Park and electronic parking brake multiple times without effect. Vehicle continued rolling for approximately 20–30 seconds before stopping. Driver’s foot was run over by the vehicle, resulting in injury. No warning messages were observed prior to the incident. Cause unknown. Vehicle remains available for inspection.
Our steering rack has failed on our 2020 CRV with 23,000 miles on it. There are recalls out there for earlier CRV's as well as the 2023-2025 CRV'S. It cost us $5300 to repair it. If there is an obvious safety defect, why are the 2020's not covered in this recall. There is obviously a long standing safety issue here.
Traveling at 70 mph on I-5, Washington State, a warning message telling us the braking system was compromised, referencing "VSA", part so the stability control system. We pulled over and turned the car off, deleting the message. Within two miles of proceeding along the road the display presented a message saying the parking/emergency brake was malfunctioning, at 70 mph. Three days later my wife was backing up in the driveway and the car applied the brakes and would not proceed. When my wife engaged the forward gear the car did drive forward while cycling various error messages. It, via computer interpretation, determines how the brake fluid pressure is applied/distributed to all and any of the braking systems. Some systems are automatically initiated and others are initiated by the driver. These systems include the auto-emergency braking, the application of the electric foot brakes, the parking brake among others. We had the car delivered to the local dealership with the above information. The dealer ran an OBD scan and decided that the electric servo booster. I do not challenge this decision. My concern is that this malfunction has triggered a recall in Japan and that there are worldwide reports of the malfunction. Please have someone look into this system failure with Honda.
At approximately 75,000 miles, my 2020 Honda CR-V began experiencing serious engine performance issues, including jerking, hesitation, and rough operation while driving. The check engine warning light began flashing, indicating an active engine misfire. During these events, the vehicle’s acceleration and engine response became unpredictable. Only traveling at 5 mph. The ignition coils and spark plugs were replaced, and then replaced again, by an independent mechanic. After the most recent repair, the vehicle was test driven and the issue persisted. A diagnostic scan shows the engine is running rich, which mechanics stated points to a fuel injector malfunction. Based on diagnostic results, repeated test drives, and elimination of ignition components as the cause, the fuel injector system is the component believed to have failed. This malfunction poses a safety risk because a misfiring engine can cause sudden loss of power, hesitation during acceleration, and unpredictable vehicle behavior, especially during merging, passing, or driving in traffic. The issue has been reproduced and reviewed by multiple mechanics, who reached the same conclusion regarding a fuel injector related failure. Prior to and during the failure, the vehicle exhibited jerking, hesitation, rough operation, and a flashing check engine light. These symptoms have continued despite repairs. The fuel injector failure is the subject of an active recall affecting this make, model, and year, however my VIN is not included in the recall. Despite this exclusion, my vehicle is exhibiting the same symptoms, misfire behavior, and diagnostic indicators addressed by the recall. The exact reason my VIN is excluded from the recall is unknown, but the evidence indicates a fuel injector related defect affecting safe operation of the vehicle.
Every dashboard light came on. Engine, brake and all the adaptive controls were flashing. The whole dash was lit up and my cruise control and lane assist wouldn’t work. Among other things I’m sure. I want to know if this is going to happen again and what about the head gasket now? Can you do the update/ thermostat on my vehicle since obviously it is defective? The car only has 65,000 miles on it. I always heard Hondas were the best vehicles. This is now very concerning. Please advise.
This past year, on 10 occasions, the car misfires and loses power. All but 1 of these occurrences have been on the highway. The check engine light blinks, I pull over, turn the car off, wait a couple minutes, start the car, and the problem disappears. I have had the codes checked by both Honda and my personal mechanic - and neither can find a code that anything is wrong with the car. I have replaced the battery and 4 spark plugs but the issue keeps happening - more so recently as the weather is a little colder now. I am submitting the date of the most recent occurrence - but this has been happening since January of 2025.
The drivers front seatbelt latch has failed causing the driver to not be safely secured in the vehicle. This causes the airbag warning system to illuminate a warning indicator malfunction light on the dash display. The Honda dealership has refused to repair the item at Honda’s expense due to them stating the seatbelt latch is not on a recall list for my specific VIN although they did acknowledge that there is a problem with the seatbelt latches for that year model Honda CR-V.
I was driving this vehicle (2020 Honda CRV hybrid touring) and the brakes became very hard to stop. It was like standard braking without power assist and required great effort to stop the vehicle. Many warnings appeared on the dash including: 1. Brake system problem 2. Electric parking brake problem 3. Brake hold system problem 4. Hill start assist problem 5. Collision mitigation system problem 6. Vehicle stability assist (VSA) problem 7. Road departure mitigation problem 8. Adaptive cruise control problem The emergency brake light is on and won't go away. Sometimes when you start it, the warnings will clear after pressing the "!" button. Other times they won't clear making it not driveable because of the hard braking. I took it to First Class Halt and they found some code they had never seen. They cleared the code and 2 days later it started up with the same thing. I took it to Hendrick Honda and they also just cleared a code. A few days later it started all over making the car undriveable at least in a safe manner with full control over the brakes. It seems that neither an independent shop nor a Honda dealership can correct this dangerous problem.
The failure involves the Electric Brake Booster (EBB) / brake control system on my 2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid. The malfunction affected brake assist, ABS, Vehicle Stability Assist System Problem, Brake Hold System Problem, Brake System Problem,Electric Parking Brake Problem, Road Departure Mitigation System problem,Collision Mitigation System Problem, Adaptive Cruise Control Problem, Hill Start Assist problem. The vehicle and components are available for inspection upon request. This failure created a serious safety risk. Braking performance became inconsistent and unpredictable, increasing stopping distance and reducing vehicle control. This condition increased the risk of a crash during normal driving or emergency braking. The problem is persistent and reproducible. Multiple brake-related warning lights reappear every time the vehicle is driven. The symptoms are consistent with Electric Brake Booster failure reported on similar vehicles. Dealer diagnosis is pending / has identified a brake system fault related to the brake booster. The vehicle has not been inspected by Honda corporate. It has been / will be inspected by an authorized dealer or qualified service center. No police or insurance inspection occurred because no crash happened. Warning lamps appeared suddenly while driving, including Brake System, ABS, and VSA warnings. There were no prior symptoms such as noise, vibration, or gradual brake degradation before the failure. Once illuminated, the warnings remained active.
2020 Honda CR-V EXL would not start past week on two days (12/01/2025 and 12/03/2025). Auto mechanic (C&K Auto Clinic) has the following assessment: Check for key off draw. Found slightly excessive battery drain ranging from 75 milliamps to 150 milliamps. Found back up fuse #18 to be circuit causing draw. Will need additional time to continue tracing back up fuse circuit. Replace faulty battery.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that approximately four times while driving approximately 35 MPH, the brake warning light flashed on the instrument panel. The contact stated that the vehicle unexpectedly came to a complete stop for several seconds before unintendedly accelerating. The contact expressed concerns about driving the vehicle with his grandchildren inside the vehicle due to the failures. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic; however, the failure was not duplicated. The vehicle was then taken to a dealer who also failed to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 58,000.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V064000 (Air Bags). The local dealer was contacted, who confirmed that parts were not yet available. My car lost roughly half its power while traveling in heavy traffic on the interstate. The engine light in the lower left hand corner of the dash began blinking at the same time. I was able to get off the interstate whereupon I turned the car off and then restarted it. This cured the problem and it has not happened in the week since. No one has inspected the problem, but I have an appointment with the dealer on November 4, 2025.
When driving at highway speeds, the steering is sticky and can get locked into a certain position. It can be overcome with moderate effort, but will become dangerous to drive if it gets worse. There are no warning lamps or messages related to this issue. I have taken it to the dealer and they refused to accept manufacturer responsibility for this. I took it to a trusted local independent mechanic who confirmed the issue and estimated it would cost roughly $4K to replace the rack and address the issue. Note that this issue has been identified by many other 2020 CRV owners, and the same issue has prompted a recall on 2023-24 Honda CRV models.

Facing the sun, driving through an intersection with a green light. No cars ahead or behind me, and no pedestrians in sight. As I passed under the light, the car slammed on the brakes once, let up a little, and then slammed on the brakes again. It flashed the BRAKE indicator on the dash. Then driving resumed as normal. If there had been a vehicle behind me, it would have rear ended me, no question.
Honda hasn't sent the parts to fix the problem after 1 1/2 years form the recall. NHTSA Recall Number 24V-064

Although this 2020 Honda CR-V vehicle is not covered by the “sticky steering” recall we are experiencing the same symptoms reported by owners of newer model cars included in the recall. Our dealer says the only fix is to replace the entire steering box at a cost of $3,000. In addition the timeline to get and fix the problem is unknown because the part is on nationwide back order. The car has 60k miles on it. We have just had new tires and breaks installed, a front end alignment and all linkages checked. The problem unfortunately persists. Clearly there is a problem with the steering on this vehicle. We haven’t yet experienced an accident but the car pulls to the left at high speed and takes considerable force to get it corrected. The vehicle could easily veer into traffic in the other or oncoming lane on its own. The ability to recover in time to avoid an accident is questionable. I am unsure if other owners have reported similar problems with this model and year but I believe this is something the agency should be looking into and discussing with the manufacturer. Given the part is on nationwide back order is a clear indicator of a systemic problem
The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while her mom was driving 45 MPH and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to respond as intended. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The driver was able to pull to the side of the road. The driver turned off and restarted the vehicle several times, and the vehicle operated as needed. Additionally, the contact stated that the rear passenger's side seat belt had failed to retract. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign numbers: 23V858000(Fuel System, Gasoline), 22V380000(Fuel System, Gasoline), and 23V158000( Seat Belts); however, the VIN was not included in the recalls. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in the recalls. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 75,000.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that the vehicle was parked next to the home and under the carport. After starting the engine, the husband exited the vehicle, and moments later, flames were present inside the cabin of the vehicle. The fire department was called to the home and extinguished the flames. During the incident, the carport and carport driveway were damaged, the side of the home was damaged, and the home endured smoke inhalation. Also, the contact's personal oxygen tank was located inside the vehicle and was destroyed. The cause of the fire was not determined. A fire report was taken at the scene. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 127,000.

When driving at highway speeds, steering feels like it is stuck in particular position. Especially while navigating a slight left turn. Needing to use additional force to bring the steering back to center
The steering is binding up when turning and there is a clicking noise. I notice this a low speeds. Local mechanic inspected all suspension and drive train parts and said everything looked ok. He did not check the steering. I see this recall for later year models: The steering gearbox assembly may have been manufactured incorrectly, which can cause excessive internal friction and lead to difficulty steering the vehicle. Will Honda extend this recall to cover 2020 CRVs as it seems to be the same problem. This seems to be a known defect and should be covered. I look forward to your reply. Thank you
On 6/16/2025 I was driving home and my car dinged and a light came up on my dash All Wheel Drive System Problem and felt funny. I was almost home and when turning off and back on it went off. Two days later I was almost home and the same thing and did not drive right. I got it to a Honda dealer and they determined it was the rear differential pump motor based on the code. They replaced it yesterday and within 5 miles threw another code, which was stated that the full rear differential was needed. After some research of the All Wheel Drive System Problem it appears there are a lot of people out there with CRV's that are having this issue. My vehicle has less than 41,000 miles on it and should not have gone out. I also noticed when I googled rear differential for 2020 CRV's that the NHTSA is reviewing a case for this issue. I am thankful that I have extended warranty and will cover the repairs but I feel that this should be a recall and that Honda should take care of it instead of extended warranty. Please review this issue with CRV's and let me know if a recall is possible to be implemented.
Air bag is malfunctioning and Honda diagnosed and stated I was responsible because warranty has expired.
My 2020 CR-V has developed a problem with the steering. When turning the steering wheel even slightly, the force to turn it increases and there is a clicking sound. The dealership confirmed the steering rack and gearbox need to be replaced. There is a recall for Honda's 2022 and 2023 CR-Vs for this same issue, but there are reports of the this issue going all the way back to the 2017 model. My car only has 50,000 miles. This is a known issue that can affect safety and Honda should extend their recall to include older models with the same steering problem.
6/14/25 - automatic emergency braking system engaged twice without any impediments in road while driving 40 miles of non-freeway driving. Mileage of vehicle is 30460 miles. AEBS engaged at 45 mph and 50 mph. Scary incidents but no accident or injury today. Concerned about continued driving and future incidents. Will contact Honda dealership. Need to issue a recall.
Back in April 2025 my 2020 Honda CRV started having an issue with the steering where it would get stuck or it felt like a grab while driving, this happened while driving around 35 mph and on the interstate going around 78 mph, it felt like it could've made me over correct but it went back to "somewhat normal". It happened several times then took it to dealer, they were able to reconstruct the problem. Ended up that I had to put $3300.00 into replacing the steering rack assembly. NO recalls on the 2020 but there are on the newer models.
Sticking steering wheel.Steering wheel sticks causing me to jerk wheel when turning curve.Yes, I took to Honda dealer and they ran test confirming problem. They said I need steering gearbox replaced. No warning lights occurred. About May 2024. It has gotten so bad now that I am afraid to drive it over 10 miles.
While driving the vehicle the collision avoidance activated on its own. The brakes automatically applied when I was not near a vehicle in front of me. When over railroad crossing and the system activated. My speed was around 28 to 30 mph. The system slowed me down to 24 mph. This has occurred twice. First occurrence was on [XXX], and second on [XXX]. Dash camera footage inside and outside is available to both occurrences. Ide Honda in Penfield, NY was notified after the first instance. The vehicle was not brought in to have it looked at. The vehicle is scheduled for service on June 12, 2025 at Ide Honda in Penfield, NY. My paint is flaking off. I contacted the dealership and Honda was was told to buy touch up paint. Honda then refused to address it and told me to file a complaint with you if they recall I will be notified.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that upon entering the vehicle after it rained, rainwater had seeped into the vehicle from the rubber trim around the driver’s side door. The contact stated that upon inspection, the contact became aware that all 4 doors were allowing water to seep into the vehicle through cracks in the rubber trims around the doors. There was no warning light illuminated. The local dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The contact was informed that the VIN was not under recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 43,000.
Fuel pump. The mechanic did give me back the fuel pump. Independent mechanic documented repairs following Honda's instructions. There was no warning prior to the fuel pump stopping me dead in my tracks. I was at an intersection coming out of a busy parking lot. I was able to get to my nearby home in limp mode until the car could be looked at by my mobile mechanic. I called Honda and they said go ahead and have the mobile mechanic repair the vehicle.
The steering started having a sticky/pulling problem on 5/22/25. When driving and taking a left curved road at 30 mph, the steering tries to pull me back to the right. This can be felt in the steering wheel and another person confirmed this same issued that I described. I checked online and found that some 2020 Honda CRVs are on a recall for an issue with the worm gear expanding causing this same problem. My VIN doesn't show up on the recall list. I purchased the car new on 4/25/20 and have kept up on all maintenance, including fluid changes.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V064000 (Air Bags); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and opened a case. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
The contact's wife owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact's wife received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V064000 (Air Bags); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was made aware of the issue but confirmed that parts were not yet available and to wait for the second owner notification letter to be mailed. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The contact's wife had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
The past year vehicle drivers side signal light and mirror light stays on when vehicle is turned off causing the battery to drain on the vehicle. Independent mechanic ran test unable to find issue. Multiple owners of the Honda crv are experiencing the same issue with out any help from Honda causing dangerous situation in operations vehicle. Turn signal randomly will go off when driving the vehicle or turning left signal won’t turn on sometimes.
Recently ([XXX]) my wife was left stranded away from home when our 2020 CR-V started but would not go into any gear and had multiple warning messages about system failures including brake system problem (No Working Brakes), electric parking brake problem, tire pressure monitor problem, transmission system problem and auto engine idle stop system problem. If she had removed the [XXX] that cut the wires while driving the brakes would have stopped working. She had to call for a tow truck to take her to the Honda dealer. The Honda Technician found that wires running under the rear view mirror had been cut by the [XXX] she uses causing a short and a malfunction of the computer system. The repair cost was $2451. This is an obvious design flaw by Honda. My wife is a [XXX] and all [XXX] are designed to hang over the rear view mirror. Honda should not have left exposed wires there under the rearview mirror, they should have been enclosed and protected. Anyone using a [XXX] is at risk of cutting these wires which makes the vehicle undriveable. [XXX] people are most at risk of being stranded. Anyone with a 2020 Honda CR-V and using a [XXX] should be warned about this problem immediately. Our vehicle was repaired at Honda of Stevens Creek in San Jose CA and the repair bill was $2451. The technician even did a video showing how the [XXX] cut the wire. We request that Honda reimburse us for our repair cost of $2451 and for Honda to fix this issue before more [XXX] people are left stranded.
Subject: Recurring Steering Issue in Honda CR-V – Potential Inclusion in Recall In early 2023, we began experiencing a steering issue with our Honda CR-V. The steering would intermittently feel sticky or resistant, particularly at higher speeds and when navigating curves or corners. Over time, this issue was accompanied by a clicking noise. We took the vehicle to our local Honda dealership; however, they were unable to replicate the problem at that time. As the issue progressed, the vehicle became increasingly unsafe to drive. Eventually, the dealership acknowledged the problem and replaced the power steering rack under the manufacturer’s warranty. Approximately 18 months later, the same symptoms have reappeared: sticky steering at higher speeds, clicking noises, and an overall unsafe steering feel. Once again, the dealership has been unable to replicate the issue and has advised us to return when the problem becomes more consistent, which is concerning and unsafe. Upon researching, we discovered that Honda issued a recall (NHTSA Campaign#: 24V744000) affecting 1.7 million vehicles, including certain 2023–2025 CR-V models, due to a steering gearbox defect that can cause excessive internal friction and difficulty steering . While our vehicle’s model year is not currently included in this recall, the symptoms we are experiencing seem similar to those described. Request: We urge the NHTSA to investigate whether earlier model years of the Honda CR-V may also be affected by this steering defect. The recurrence of this issue, despite previous repairs, raises significant safety concerns. We believe our vehicle may warrant inclusion in the existing recall or prompt a separate investigation into similar steering-related safety issues in earlier CR-V models. Or at minimum help us resolve this continuous issue as we feel unsafe to drive our vehicle.
"ALL WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM PROBLEM" notification appears on dashboard of 2020 Honda CRV. Dashboard also indicates only FWD is operational rather than AWD which should be operational all the time. Honda Service Bulletin 23-031 dated April 7, 2023 states corrective action is to replace the rear differential pump motor. Per online postings this is a common problem with the 2020/2021 Honda CRV.
Driving at approx 45mph local road and suddenly the all warning lights (brake, check engine, hill descent, etc) started flashing. The car started to slow down and I immediately pulled over and turned the car off. Drove to local Honda dealership and they stated it was faulty fuel injector. 2020 Honda CRV @96k miles

My 2020 Honda CRV’s crankshaft front oil seal failed. Typically not a problem you see in five year old cars.
I received a recall notice a long time ago and I have checked multiple times with 2 different Honda dealerships (Located in Hickory, NC & Morganton, NC) about a remedy to fix and have been told every time they don't have the parts to fix and not sure when they will. It has been a long time now and I am concerned. NHTSA Recall Number 24V-064
All of the warning lights appeared on the dash. Car runs fine and does not impact driving. Battery has been tested and it's in working condition. Now the problem has gone away but this seems like an issue that should be addressed with Honda, at no charge. I looked the problem up online and multiple inquiries from customers. Do the right thing Honda. Treat this has a recall and take care of your loyal customers.
My car's estimated fuel remaining changed from 1/4 tank to dangerously low within a few minutes. It seemed to work ok after I filled it, but my car failed to run when the car insisted that about a quarter tank of fuel was present when I was driving on a highway after dark - I managed to get safely over to the edge before it stopped moving. The repair shop I towed it to checked and found that the fuel pump and attached sensor had failed, in a car that had only 42,961 miles. I would also add that the Honda dealer in Tulsa refused to give me and my husband any kind of estimate over the phone, saying only that the we had to bring the car there for them to inspect, and they were not permitted to give repair estimates over the phone.
While driving down the freeway at around 60 mph, I sharply accelerated to negotiate traffic and my vehicle lost power and the check engine light was flashing. I was able to roll to an exit ramp where i could barely get up a slight incline. I was able to get out of traffic but at speed of less than 5 mph. It sounded like the vehicle was running on two cylinders. I pulled over and turned the car off. I was able to re-start the car after which it ran normally. I went directly to the dealership where they were unable to reproduce or diagnose the issue.
There is an unrepaired recall and for some reason until now the dealership can’t get the parts they supposedly need to get it fixed.
NHTSA Recall Number -24V-064 - In the event of an accident front passenger frontal and knee airbags deployment. Safety Risk. I contacted Honda to resolve this issue yet I am unable to do so I was informed that to date no replacements parts are available to resolve this safety issue. They were unable to to provide a date for delivery of the replacement parts. I am following the safety precautions as I do not want an injury to occur in my vehicle. Is there a timeframe for the Honda to resolve this safety issue?
The vehicle seems to get a mind of its own and around turns on the highway or by curved roads with a barrier, the vehicle slows down. This has happened quite a few times in different scenarios.
Hi pressure fuel pump stopped working while driving. My mechanic gave me the defective part in case someone wanted to inspect it. At the time of failure, the car suddenly entered "limp" mode and fortunately I was able to pull over to the side. When I tried to get moving, the engine jerked and sputtered to a maximum speed of about 15 mph. All the lights on the dashboard lit up and flashed. Warnings for many different types of problems displayed, but nothing specific about the fuel pump. There were no warnings previous to the sudden part failure. On the phone, my mechanic immediately told me that it was likely a well-known problem with Honda CRV's. He'd repaired other CRVs with the same problem. A Honda agent told me on the phone "yes" this is a common problem. However she said my CRV is not within the range of VIN numbers under recall. Therefore, I am not eligible for reimbursement at this time. That Honda Agent told me to submit my problem through the NHTSA website and then keep checking to see if my VIN number is eventually within the numbers. Once that is the case I will be reimbursed. I had my trusted mechanic make the repair, per Honda's direction (they said since I'm far away from a dealership and the car is driveable, just have it repaired by my mobile mechanic). Since the repair was completed, it is working fine although I now average 3 mpg less than before the repair.
The fuel injectors failed and were leaking. All warning system lights displayed and scrolled thru dash. We took to Honda dealership and are awaiting repairs. A fire hazard was present from leaking fuel and hazardous condition from lose of power as engine running rough and misfiring.
Fuel Pump failed; the car cannot be driven. Took car to local mechanic and was told the fuel pump is part of major recall from Honda and I need to go back to the dealership and have Honda pay for repairs. I was told my car is not part of the recall, even though 2.5 million Hondas have been recalled with this problem.
While driving on the road and passing through an intersection, my car suddenly applied the brakes automatically, attempting to stop the vehicle. During this time, there were no obstacles in front of the car, and I did not step on the brakes.

Sticky steering wheel - the steering sticks making it difficult to keep the vehicle driving straight. Vehicle has been taken to a local Honda dealership and we we're told the gearbox needs to be replaced and it would cost $5,000 to repair but there is currently a recall on the same vehicle 2 years and older with the same issue.

Car suddenly breaks without my control, and wheels do not recognize new paved roads. Traction light stays on. Car pulls me outside of lane and I have to force the wheel to drive straight and stay in the lane.
1) “Collision Mitigation Braking System” (CMBS); CMBS still exists on this car. 2) Potential for getting rear-ended. 3) My brother with similar CR-V reports random CMBS braking. 4) No 5) CMBS first brake warning only after I started letting up off the brake pedal. CMBS produced 2nd brake warning just as it slammed on the brakes - AFTER distance between my car and car in front was already increasing (ie - no chance for collision). First appearance: I've been getting false CMBS brake alarms since purchase of car - this was the first time CMBS slammed on the brakes. I've heard other stories about CMBS type systems causing wrecks, etc... - I believe CMBS type systems need to be removed from all cars.
My car issue is the high presure fuel pump
This vehicle has 33k miles on it and both front axels make noise when the vehicle has been driven for about 20 minutes and one starts to make turns. Honda says it needs new axels but does not know why they have failed. Honda says the CV boots are intact. Seems like this part should not fail on such a new, low mileage vehicle and is likely indicative of a larger problem with the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving at approximately 4 MPH and pulling, head-on, into a parking space the vehicle unintentionally accelerated. The contact stated that she was depressing the brake pedal and needed to depress the brake pedal with more force in order to stop the vehicle. The contact noticed that a symbol that looked like the letter "I" was illuminated. The contact stated that she tried to move the vehicle forward, but she had not turned off the engine. The contact stated that the vehicle was not responding when she depressed the accelerator pedal. The contact turned the vehicle off and on several times and was able to regain normal vehicle function. The contact had the vehicle towed to a dealer. The dealer diagnosed and determined that the throttle was gummed up and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 36,000.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving at various speeds and making slight right turns, the steering wheel was sticking and required to be manually steered to the center. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring intermittently. Additionally, the contact stated that the failure had progressively gotten worse, requiring the driver to use more physical force to turn the steering wheel to the center. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times. The dealer replaced the ABS module and the rack and pinion; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the rack and pinion needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 29,000.
I get a random warning to brake when nothing is in front of me. It doesn't happen often, but it happens. P.S. I can not answer the questions below for some unknown reason. The dates vary and the car had approximately 30,000 miles.
The wiper system stops working at times. The arms just stop mostly in the delay wiper setting. This makes it extremely hard to see in rainy conditions. No lights on the dash, have not brought the car to the dealership yet. I am quite frustrated that a 4 year old vehicle has an issue like this. We bought a new car to avoid fixing problems as cars age. Thankfully no one was hurt. This has happened a few times. I told my wife I would drive the car in the rain to see what happens to better describe it to the dealership.
I received a notice in March 2024 regarding a recall for my 20 CRV involving a Seat Weight Sensor Circuit Board. I contacted my local Honda Dealer, Serra ,Honda Grand Blanc, Michigan to inquire about obtaining a time to service the recall. I was told at that time that they did not have the parts available and to call back in the fall to schedule. I spoke to the same dealership on September 27, 2024 and was told that they did not have the parts and had no idea when they would arrive. They continued to state Honda offers vague communication on when the parts will be available. This is unacceptable and is a definite safety issue.
Was told by dealer that fuel injector/s are bad. I was driving on the highway at 75mph, when the car suddenly lost power, all (9) warning lights on the dash came on. There was a truck behind me that almost crashed into me because of the sudden loss of speed.

A warning on the dash that read, "All Wheel System Drive Problem," came up several times during the past few days on my 2020 Honda CRV with only 70,000 miles. It came without any prior warning and power was diverted from all four wheels to just the front wheels. It posed a safety risk because it came so suddenly, but I was able to drive carefully to the dealership. There is a Service Bulletin with Honda with the NHTSA (#23-031) located at [XXX]. This is a known problem with both Honda and the NHTSA, yet there is no active recall. The dealership charged $1260 to have this repaired, even though it's a drivetrain issue and not a common maintenance item. I would like the NHTSA to request a recall with Honda so that I can be reimbursed for this. I have attached a copy of the invoice that Honda provided for the services rendered. The center display consul keeps changing the display. About 6 months ago it appeared to look like water was in the display. By the time I got to the dealer the screen was clear. I was told to take a picture if it happened again. I had approximately 26,000 miles on the car at the time. About a month later the screen went totally dark. I shut off the car and it restarted with a clear screen. About a month after that it went dark again. Restarting the car did not fix the problem but YouTube suggested a restart, which did fix the problem. Nox the A odometer will not reset. The reset option via the stalk or the dashboard computer option will fix the problem. Also, the text voice volume control will not operate. The car now has approximately 30,000 miles on it. I am going to the dealer tomorrow. This problem should not exist in a 4 year old car with 30,000 miles which I purchase new and have maintained meticulously

On August 15, 2024, around noon, I was stopped at a red light waiting for the light to turn green. When it finally did, I released my foot from the brake pedal and proceeded to accelerate. Not even 2 seconds later, I heard a beeping sound (from collision mitigation system) and my car abruptly stopped. There was no car in front of me and the car behind me was 2 car distances away. My car abruptly stopped on its own with no obstruction in sight in front or behind. I am very concerned to say the least and now feel unsafe driving my car especially since I drive my children around all the time. The automatic braking system/collision mitigation braking system on my 2020 Honda CRV, although meant to increase safety seems to do the exact opposite. I did some research and learned how to turned the collision mitigation braking system off. I trust my fight or flight response more than this automatic braking system. It seems this is more likely to cause an accident. My vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer for this matter, however, I do plan on scheduling a service appointment to ensure the ABS system is working properly. The vehicle only has 38000 miles and has been driving smoothly, no warning messages or vehicle problems that I am aware of. As a public health professional, I feel it is my duty to report this safety concern. This system seems so faulty and dangerous. Please please please investigate this matter, it's so scary. Sincerely, a public health advocate, wife, and mom of 2. Thank you
After warming up, the vehicle’s steering becomes a bit tight, and there's a spot where it feels sticky. At higher speeds, when I need to make slight adjustments to the steering, I notice this stickiness, which forces me to overcorrect momentarily. I'm concerned that if I have to overcorrect too much to compensate for the sticky steering, it could lead to a dangerous situation, especially on the highway.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 MPH, the vehicle almost stalled. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated, and the vehicle was losing motive power. The contact stated that the vehicle had decelerated to 5 MPH and failed to respond while depressing the accelerator pedal. The vehicle was driven to the residence and then towed to a local dealer. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the fuel pump had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact had researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 53,000.
Failed fuel injections issue caused the electrical system to crash
I was the first and only car waiting at a stop light, when the light turned green I began to accelerate and as I aproached the crosswalk line the car auto-braked hard. There were no other cars near by, nor pedestrians anywhere. The auto-braking only lasted a second, did not quite come to a full stop and has not repeated. If there had been a car behind me, I could have easily been rear ended. I notified the service department at the dealership and told them of the NHTSA investigation, he said this was the first he has heard of the problem and if it happens again to document it and bring it in for inspection. I will do so. There were no warning lamps or messages before or after the incident.
I was driving on the freeway [XXX] my car speed was slowing down even as I had the gas pedal pressed to the floor. I was heading off the freeway when the speed picked up and car was working again. On a separate incident March 2024 my daughter borrowed my car and she described the same issue and again. The car would not speed up despite her pressing the gas pedal. Most recent [XXX]. Put car in reverse and step on gas and zero movement. Put it back in park and back in reverse and car once again worked as normal. No check engine lights so I was told no diagnostics could be performed. I see all the recalls for these problems but my vin number is not included. Several vehicles of the same year, make, and model were recalled for the fuel injectors but mine was not included. My car would not accelerate and became unsafe as I would try to move from stop lights, etc. I took my car into a repair shop and was told it was the fuel injectors. I would like to have my vehicle covered under this same recall as it is a hazard and I do not feel I should have to replace these on a newer car, especially when it is a known issue.

I am filing a complaint against Honda regarding the infotainment system in my Honda CR-V. When I connect an Android device, the system crashes consistently. Despite informing Honda of this issue, their response has been dismissive. They stated, “We tested it with an iPhone and found no problems,” completely disregarding the issue with Android devices. Safety Concern: The infotainment system freezing when an Android device is connected poses a significant safety issue. Functional infotainment is crucial for navigation, hands-free communication, and other essential functions while driving. Frequent crashes disrupt these functionalities, potentially leading to distracted driving and increased risk of accidents. Honda’s failure to address this problem compromises driver and passenger safety. Misleading Advertising: Honda advertises that their infotainment system works with Android devices, which is not my experience. This misleading advertising is deceptive and unfair to consumers. Warranty Information: My vehicle is under a certified warranty, yet Honda has failed to provide the necessary support and repairs to resolve the issue. Desired Resolution: I seek a thorough investigation by the FTC into Honda’s misleading advertising and failure to address legitimate safety concerns with their infotainment system. I also request that Honda be required to fix my vehicle so that the infotainment system works reliably with Android devices. Additionally, Honda should formally acknowledge the problem and improve their customer support and product testing procedures.
While driving my crv about 40 miles away from home, an all wheel drive system error alert came on the dash. The car seemed to slow as I was driving. I pulled over and parked turned the car off and re started it and it was ok. The error came back on and did not go off and this time the car did not feel safe to drive while accelerating to 20 mph there seemed to be a delay and feeling of wobbling. Had my car stopped at any point on the road this could have caused a major accident. It also felt unsafe
LAST 2 MONTHS THE STEERING WHEEL IS LIKE CATCHING ON SOMETHING. IT'S BEST DESCRIBED AS A STICKY STEERING. IT'S A HARD TO MAINTAIN STRAIGHT LINE SPECIALLY ON THE HIGHWAY. CAR HAS 60K MILES. WHEN YOU TURN THE WHEELS YOU CAN HERE AND FEEL CRACKING NOISE COMING FROM THE STEERING RACK.
In 2 opportunities when I am going over a SPEED BUMP my SUV senses the bump as a possible hazard and stopped the car from 25 to 0 in a fraction of a second. BOTH Times I have had passengers with me. Almost got rear ended this last time. I went to the dealer the first time this happened and they did not give it enough importance and denied to disable it.

The high-pressure fuel pump in my vehicle failed. Unfortunately, this component is no longer available for inspection as it was repaired with a rebuild kit during repairs at the dealership. The failure of the fuel pump created a driving hazard. Due to insufficient fuel supply, the car exhibited erratic behavior, including the inability to maintain consistent speed. This caused the vehicle to drive at unusually low speeds, which impeded the flow of traffic. If this failure had occurred on the highway, it could have led to a fatal accident. To my knowledge, there has been no formal investigation into the failure of this component. The dealership rebuilt the high pressure fuel pump but did not conduct a thorough investigation into the root cause of the issue. The only indication of the impending failure was the activation of all warning lights on the dashboard when the car was started. Additionally, the vehicle became difficult to start. The first occurrence of this issue was on 06/08/2024, and the car became inoperable immediately after the initial warning signs.

It all begins with sticky steering wheel and got worse. Took to the dealership they first diagnosed as "transmission mount". After working on the car they said "Power Steering Rack" needs replacing. I am the single owner of this vehicle with only 28000 miles and just over 3 years of ownership. I am stunned at the cost of this repair (not covered by Honda) and the fact that this part may not be available for a long while according to dealership and it is unsafe to drive the vehicle. This is for sure a defective vehicle to lose a power steering rack at 28K miles and just over 3 years. Thank you!
My AWD system is lit up. I saw that this was a reported issue by Honda that there’s issues with the rear differential motor. AWD Light ON: DTC C1851-1E/DTC C1851-18 Stored They should consider this a recall.
Hello on or about April [XXX] I was driving my Honda CRV on the freeway. all of a sudden I felt the car sputter. It went down to 25 miles an hour. I pulled over and shut the car off. A couple hours later. Oh my dashboard lights went on. One after another, I called Honda and got the service department voicemail.. Then I called my mechanic and he suggested I reboot the computer Which I did. The next day it did the same thing. I called Honda again the same thing voicemail. I called my mechanic and he suggested that I bring it in to be diagnosed.. He said it was the fuel injectors. And suggested I get a hold of Honda. I made a 3rd call ,same thing voicemail. Finally five days later after emailing the service department manager. I finally got a phone call back. I basically was told there’s nothing they can do for me. The quote for the car was $600 more than my mechanic. So my mechanic fixed it. Two weeks later, the service manager called me and told me it was covered under warranty. But I had already had the car fixed. Brad Haag from Honda of Middleburg Heights told me to send my receipt to iHonda corporate, and they said they could not help me. After doing some research on the Internet this seems to be a very common problem with Honda CRV’s. I truly believe this is a safety issue. I could’ve been killed that day.. I bought this car for its safety and reliability. I believe these cars are not safe to be on the road with fuel injectors that just fail without warning. Thank you. This 2020 Honda CR-V has experienced 5 uncommanded automatic braking events so far. All 5 events were in wet conditions, with no apparent obstacle in front of the vehicle. One of these events occurred on I-35 at 70mph, and resulted in a full stop with the car facing oncoming traffic. The Collision Mitigation Braking System frequently provides false warnings in this vehicle.
The orange flashing rectangular "BRAKE" warning light on the dashboard display comes on intermittently and randomly while I am driving when there is NOTHING on the road or in front of the car warning me that the car will be braking itself. This has happened while driving 70 mph on the Interstate as well as on local roads going 30-40 mph and in all of these instances there has been nothing in the way of the car! No vehicles. No objects. Nothing. If I had not seen the warning light display on the dashboard and the automatic braking system would have stopped my car while driving 70 mph I could have been killed by a driver behind me on the road running into my car or by severe whiplash from stopping so fast unknowingly. I have reported this to my local Honda dealership where I bought the car (twice now in the last 10 months; once on 8/1/23 and again on 5/9/24). They said they have no knowledge of a potential recall even though I have told them I have read multiple articles in the past several months about a possible recall. I am taking my car to a local body shop to have it scanned to see if they can find anything wrong but the dealership refuses to check the codes as a courtesy free of charge. Honda has suggested I wash my car to clean the sensors of debris which I do very often and the issue just keeps happening. Thank you.

On 4/14/24, while driving ~45mph with no cars or other obstacles anywhere in sight, automatic braking engaged. It was out of the blue, and alarming. Fortunately, no car was behind me, so no accident occurred. I had no indication of any problem prior to this incident. This problem has not occurred again. The Honda dealer offered to run a diagnostic for $100, but seemed disbelieving that they would find anything, so I did not pursue, still thought it was dangerous enough that I should report this.
The contact owned a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving approximately 15 MPH and crossing an intersection to enter a school parking lot, the contact did not see that a vehicle had merged into the opposite lane heading straight across the intersection into the path of the contact. The contact stated that she crashed into the driver's side door. The contact's vehicle spun 180 degrees and remained in the lane she was driving in. The contact stated that the air bags did not deploy. The contact stated that the front end of her hood, and grill were crushed by the impact up to the front right and left tire wheel wells. The contact struck her head on the steering wheel but had no physical injuries. The contact was not sure of the disposition of the other vehicle. The police arrived on the scene and issued the contact a traffic violation for failing to yield at the intersection. The contact was attended by an EMS team and was offered to be taken to the ER. The contact declined and was advised by EMS team that if she suffered nausea or headaches later to go to an ER immediately. The contact stated that later that day she was driven to the ER by her husband. The ER physician determined that she had suffered a concussion. The contact's vehicle was towed to an impound lot and later declared a total loss by her insurance provider. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

I've owned this car for 4 years. The automatic braking has engaged a couple of times each year. There is never any traffic in front of me when this happens. It only happens on multi-lane highways. It has happend during the day and at night. Weather is always clear when it happens.
I’m not 100% sure but it seems like something to do with the power steering . When turning the steering wheel sometimes it feels stuck in place and needs a little force to free it . If making a turn you can let go and it will maintain the turn. I have tried it with lane assist on and off and it doesn’t seem to make a difference . Sometimes it drives normal without sticking. I’m taking it back to the dealer where it was purchased to have the service center see if they can pin point it. No warning lights or codes are on.
Car came to an emergency stop with no cars or other objects in it's path
There was an internal failure in the body control module, causing dysregulation of the internal electronic components and battery drainage. The battery was initially changed without effect, and after observation of the electronic component turned on with the vehicle turned off, the vehicle was driven to the shop, where the diagnosis was made. After diagnosis, the part was ordered and replaced within 2 days for approximately $777.
It is about Bubbles in the rear glass panel where I have 100 of bubbles and it is because of error in application (bed part –tint or worst work). It looks terrible and has impact on possibilities if I drive it when is the nighttime and increase the risk of crash. I start asking Honda to repair it long time ago and was denied. (Tint is dealership installed and 2 other dealership in Jacksonville have lifetime warranty on installed tint and also most of glass tint services in Jacksonville). I contacted American Honda CO and they told me that they do not have anything to do with it because it is not factory installed tint and they cannot commend to dealerships what to do.
The fuel pump system failed and did not accurately display the amount of fuel in tank. This caused car to run out of gas on busy highway, and shut down and all systems turned off. Was able to coast to side of road and from there was eventually towed to local dealership. They diagnosed the fuel system problem and repaired. This was second time it happened, first time was not diagnosed, just fill with gas.
While travelling home from Champaign, IL on [XXX] towards Springfield, IL, we had been on the road for approximately an hour, when there was a loud metallic bang & I lost all steering control. The CR-V violently jerked to the right and exited the interstate at approximately 70mph (I was on cruise control), travelled down an embankment hitting several trees and came to a stop in trees on the edge of a farm pond. All airbags deployed, and per the Tow company, the engine and transaxles departed the vehicle and were found a short distance in front of the vehicle. The car stayed upright and continued straight after departing the roadway. what component failed & is it available for inspection - steering, exact component unknown. unknown if available for inspection, vehicle released to state farm 1/29 how was safety put at risk - caused severe crash with serious injuries. total loss of control could have been fatal if traffic was heavier has the problem reproduced - no has the vehicle been inspected by manufacturer, police, insurance etc - unknown, vehicle was released to state farm 1/29 were there any warning lamps or symptoms? - no INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle lost motive power, decelerated, and entered LIMP Mode. During the failure, the check engine, ABS, and Emissions warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was approximately 51,000. The contact stated he has to pay $70 and says what?
The component(s) may be electrical in nature for fuel pumps don't produce electricity. On 1/9/2024 after the car been locked and off for a few hours noticed something running at the rear of the car. The fuel pump was running. Got the car fob, started and cut off. No fuel pump was running after shutdown. My father was with me, it's his car. For safety sakes, premature failure of the fuel pump or engine will cause a stall, and while driving, potentially cause a crash. (Big picture), This car line in general has major fuel pump failures, and downstream, motor failure (fuel intrusion, known fact). If a fuel injector had a problem (leak by), motor failure. These known problems may originate at the starting switch, computer, or other in-between components. Called this into Vicksburg Miss. Cannon Honda dealership 1/10/24. It was said there was at least one more with the same problem, fuel pump running after shutdown, killing the battery or running it down. This car was bought at this dealership a year and half ago. No one has looked at the car, but if contacted, may by agreement, look at the car if a loaner can be acquired.
When accelerating, the vehicle tends to lose power
The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving 10 MPH and coming to a stop, the steering wheel became loose. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed; however, no cause for the failure was found. The contact called the local dealer and was informed that the vehicle needed to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacture was not contacted. The failure mileage was 17,000.
When I am in adaptive cruise control mode, and I am in the left lane and a large vehicle like a semi-truck or a pickup truck pulling a large trailer is in the right lane passes me, from time to time it will engage the braking system even though there is nothing in front of my vehicle. Recently it has also been happening if I am in the right lane and vehicle exits the highway on an off ramp. I have been lucky to date that no vehicle was behind me when the braking system engaged, or there would have been an accident. This issue has been occurring ever since I bought the 2020 CRV new and have brought it to the attention of the dealer several times, and they say they could not find an issue. My last scheduled maintenance appointment they recommended recalibrating the system, and the issue is still there.
Driving about 35mph. Nearest vehicle ahead of me (semi trailer) was about a block ahead. My brake alert came on. I did not brake because there was no need to. Then the car applied the brakes automatically. No accident as no one was behind me. This occurred first week of Dec 2023. There was a prior incident about a month ago where the car ahead of me was about a car and a half length ahead. Brake alert came on, then Went off. I didn’t brake and really didn’t think too much of it. But after reading online, others having issues I thought it needs to be reported.
The break pedal felt stiff and I had hard time coming to a stop. That was going on for a few days until the car was dropped off for service. The reason was a break booster failure. We were told that it never happens. Even though the car only had about 15K miles we were out of warranty so had to pay $2400 to get it fixed. We filed a claim with Honda but were denied in reimbursement. Honda had break booster recalls in multiple models but not this one. However, there's no reason for the break booster failure other than a manufacturer's defect.
My rear fuel pump failed suddenly when we were driving in highway. No warning at all. We just completed our vehicle inspections by the Honda dealer 3 days prior. We also had them do oil change, replace brake and transmission fluid. It cost us about $2000 for towing and repairs. We found that there is a recall on other crv made the same year. How can I get my repairs reimbursed?
235/60R18 service bulletin 20-081 October 8 2020 after only 16000 miles and a trip to the dealership I advised that the wear and tear of every tire was different and need attention. I ask why the difference between the wear they suggested check the vehicle for problems with the suspension, nothing was found. I ask for replacement under warranty I even showed the service bulletin from honda mentioned at the top of this page , they ask me to contact the tire manufacturer witch I did, the manufacturer told me since I didn't purchase the tires directly from them warranty was denied, I went back to the manufacturer honda file a case which they denied because they didn't think my case fits the service bulletin from them. At the end I make the expense to replace the tires , what makes a huge difference in the handling of the vehicle. Case# 13736110 with honda
One year after I bought my new 2020 Honda crv the Torque Converter seal leaked and the oil seal was replaced. I had only 4670 miles on it. In August of this yr 2023 my battery died in the middle of no where and had to wait for AAA in 103 temp for 45 minutes. Today October 20th,2023 my car stalled in the middle of a 4 lane busy intersection. The car was towed to the dealership and the fuel pump was replaced at only 14,400 miles! this vin has had no recalls but im so disappointed since I bought a Honda for its reliability. I have a disabled 81 yr old husband and this has been more than stressful. My warranty expires this Dec 2023 and im afraid I bought a lemon. The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at an undisclosed speed, the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the air bag sensors. The vehicle was repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related it to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V383000 (Air Bags), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 45,000.
Driving down the highway and heard a loud “boom”. Thought it was a tire blowout, but realized that the sunroof exploded. I did not hit anything. The temperature was approximately 70 degrees. Was the car the day before and did not notice any damage to the sunroof. Luckily the cover was closed so no glass fell inside the vehicle compartment. Reading of multiple occasion of this occurring to Honda vehicles.
My dashboard continues to show the message, “Low Tire Pressure.” Even after air has been filled in the tire. I ran a diagnostic today and the report is pulling up anti-lock brakes issues. The sensor is not stating this on the dashboard.
Driving on the freeway with my foot on the accelerator, the car lost power even thought the engine was running. The engine light came on as a static light - it was not blinking. I pulled off the freeway, put the car in park, and shut the engine off. When I restarted the car the engine light was off and I was able to accelerate again. After the first incident, I took it to a Honda dealer who replaced the fuel injectors. This did not solve the problem as it happened on the drive back from the dealers when I was again driving on a freeway with my foot on the accelerator and I lost all power, the engine was still running and the engine light came on. I pulled off the freeway, put the car in park, and turned off the engine. The car is now at the second dealer to determine the cause. My car only has 46000 miles on it and there should not be these types of uses with the low mileage.
On Sep 19, 2023 at about 6:10pm I got into my car at the CVS parking lot to drive home. As I reared back to get out of my parking spot, I heard a loud sound as if I had hit something on the passenger side and I returned my car to the initial spot to get out of the car and check what had happened. When I put the car into parking and tried to stop the engine, the car refused to stop. My foot was on the break, I was trying to turn off the engine but the car accelerated, went forward, then backwards, and kept going back and forth in all directions without me being able to control it. At the end it headed on the road when finally another car hit my car and this caused the car to stop. When the car stopped, it was still on Park and I was then able to turn it off. This happened in the evening. In the morning when I was going to work, as I entered my garage I tried to turn off the radio because there was no reception but I was not able to turn off the radio or to lower the volume. At that time I did not think it was an issue but in retrospect, I think the two incidents might be connected. At the end of July 2023 (about a month and a half before the accident) I started getting multiple warning signals on the dashboard and then I took my car to Honda Dealership who fixed the electronics for $850 and the car was returned to me. I have a police report # 2023-09190211 with witnesses for the accident on 9/19/2023 and the Honda Dealership should have detailed records from their work because it was quite recent. It is a miracle that there were no injured people as a result of this accident. It was extremely scary and horrible to be in a car that cannot be controlled. This has to be investigated and measures should be taken to prevent this from happening to others. I have not received yet the assessment from the insurance and I can provide more details when they share their findings.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the contact heard an explosive sound coming from the vehicle without incident. The contact pulled over to inspect the vehicle but discovered no damage; however, upon resuming driving, she heard rushing wind coming from the panoramic sunroof. Upon pulling back the sunroof cover, the contact discovered a significant-sized hole in the sunroof. An unknown dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the repair was not covered under warranty. The vehicle was not inspected or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 28,000.
Brakes lock up intermittently when trying to start the car. Happened once when I was sitting in traffic.
BREAKS STOPPED WORKING AND ALL WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON ON THE DASHBOARD. RAN OFF THE ROAD AND RAN OVER A SIGN CAUSING DAMAGE TO Rf QUARTERPANEL. THE LEALER SIAD THAT MY HABNDICAP PLACKART HAD CUT THROUGH THE WIRING IN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR, SHORTING OUT THE SYSTEM. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE PLACKARD WAS BEIG HUNG AS INTENDED. PLACKARDAS ARE HARD PLASTIC AND COULD CUT THROUGH INSULATION.
I purchased my Honda CR-V new from a dealer in 2020. It seemed to work fine, but earlier this year strange things started to happen with the electrical systems. The Remote starter would not work, the door locks and various lights would act strangely. The initial three -year warranty was up, but I had purchased an additional 4-year warranty extension. I took it to the dealer for repair and they said it needed a new Body Management System, which was on back order. several weeks later, I had that replaced, but they said they also had to replace the door locks, so I had to come back and have them do that too. On Sep. 1, I needed something from the car, but the fob wouldn't open the door and I had to use the manual key. I made a service appointment for Sep. 5, however on Sep. 3 I tried to use the car and found that it is totally dead. No electrical or electronic systems are working at all. From what I have read, I am concerned that this is an electrical problem that has been exhibited in many other CR-Vs as well.
Oil Dultion issue. There are class action lawsuits on this. How is this not being addressed.
On multiple occasions, the car initiated the automated emergency braking, bringing the car to a full and sudden stop in the middle of traffic, despite there being no obstacle, and without first giving a forward collision warning. This easily could have resulted in a catastrophic crash, or at the very least whiplash, at higher speeds. I can provide dashcam footage of one of these events.
Had my car inspected on Aug 5 everything was good and as I was driving down the road on Monday Aug 7 that afternoon and my airbag system (SRS) problem light came on we called the dealership on Tuesday morning and they said that we could drop it off and leave it on Wednesday and they would look at it when they got to it. So they called on Thursday and said it was u3000-49 internal failure of srs system also said found to be communication issue with the seat sensor which is made onto the frame and said the seat will have to be replaced If isn’t replaced and if I was to get in. Wreck the air bag or seat belt could not work properly and could result in someone getting hurt.
on June 23, 2023, had all the dashboards' lights came on and rough running Mechanicville. Honda say it high-pressure fuel pump replaced it for 1800 dollars. Then on July 23, 2023, all dashboards' lights came on again then they say it's the fuel injectors need to be replaced at 1900 dollars. All this while driving at highway speed someone is going to get killed because the car has fuel problems
My car, a 2020 Honda CR-V EX 1.5T AWD, was totaled in a fatal accident on a rainy night on an interstate highway. It spun on the highway a couple of turns, hit the highway barrier at all of its corners and sides, caused the airbags to all came out, and eventually deadly stopped in the middle of the highway on a rainy night. My wife and I were in our undrivable vehicle, watching countless coming vehicles approaching us rapidly. We were just waiting in the dead car unmovable, just as in a coffin for our fate to come but can do nothing. Thank GOD who made someone call 911. Thanks to the emergency rescue team. The ambulance sent us to a nearby local hospital. We bought the vehicle, the 2020 Honda CR-V EX 1.5T AWD, as new, and we realized there could be a problem at a very earlier time. It has a serious problem with its AWD control system. The rear wheels are always engaged in all road conditions, as it is displayed on the instrument panel. This causes the two symptoms of the car, (1) the MPG (miles-per-gallon) is extremely lower than the standard 34 MPG on the highway. It is only 23 to 25 MPG because it always consumes about 32 to 36 gallons of gasoline on a trip of 810 miles distance (85% on interstate highways). (2) the rear tires are worn out extremely fast. It wore 86% of the usage range at 22,000 miles usage, which is about 2 to 3 times quicker than tires on other cars on average. We visited the Honda dealer in Troy, Michigan for the tire problems on May 9, 2022, which is about five months before the severe accident. The Honda dealer refused to give any compensation for changing new tires. The car is just over 25,000 mileage (see [XXX] ). They changed only 2 new tires in the front and put the old front tires on the rear wheels. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
My wife and family left Evans, Georgia, on 06-Apr-2023 for their first cruise that departed from Miami, Florida. As they traveled down the interstate on 07-Apr-2023, the cruise date, the vehicle's right brake came off. My daughter steered the CR-V to safety without causing a major accident on a major Interstate Highway. They contacted the local Honda, Brickell Honda, 690 S. W. 8th Street, Miami, Florida, who dispatched a tow truck. The Service Representative was [XXX]. She asked whether the brakes had been worked on before; they had never since purchased the CR-V. Also, she confirmed that the damage was not due to road debris. Brickell Honda repaired the CR-V for $1151.31. The communication with Brickell Honda was good while the CR-V was in the shop. However, when we tried to reach out to the Service Advisor after the repairs were completed, it differed from Honda's standards. She failed to respond to our calls, voicemail, and text message. On 23 Apr 2023, I decided to have my local Honda, Gerald Jones Honda, 4022 Washington Road, Martinez, GA, review the work completed by Brickell Honda. They did not know why the brakes would have came-off, but they noticed the right rear brake line tangled up and the bolt left loose. These were things that Brickell Honda left undone, putting my family at risk! According to Gerald Jones Honda, fixing those things would cost an additional $175.00. We paid $201.25 for Gerald Jones Honda Diagnostic. “INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).”
Hi - Thanks for your attention. I am reporting an issue that have been affected many Honda CR-V owners' safety: All Warnings Lights On Dash like Christmas tree, while driving slowly on private driveway on [XXX]. No particular reasons we could figure out: Only about 21,000 miles and < 3 years; no blocking of the sensors, good battery, no wire issue by eye inspection. Following some online suggestions, rebooted in Accessory Mode, not working; reconnected/disconnected battery, worked. However, it has been reported this issue will come back again in a short period, in an unexpected way, which poses significant safety issue. There are many online discussions, but Honda has not provided a solution for these severely defective vehicles, which surely has caused severe accidents and caused panic during HIGHWAY drive. Hope you could take some actions to protect the drivers' lives. HUGE Thanks. Car parked in driveway running, in park. Went inside for less than 5 sec, came out and car rolling backwards out of driveway, 15 month old inside. Car went across two yards, struck 3 trees and lamppost coming to stop in woods/creek. Car was in PARK when entered car and checked by bystander. By the grace of God child was not hurt. My wife driving it all light come on. Take it to shop high-pressure fuel intake had low pressure. Tool cost a lot for an independent shop. Had to tow it to the dealer to be fixed. At dealer found high-pressure fuel pump was bad 1300 dollars to fix. No way a 2020 Honda with 78,000 miles
Vehicle activated emergency braking system for no apparent reason. If a vehicle would have been behind us, it may have collided with us. The brake released at around 10 mph.
Five separate times when starting the car the brakes shake and a message shows up on the dashboard "Brake System" - "Brake System Problem" - "Electric Parking Brake Problem". The car had less than 25,000 miles when I first saw this message. I am not an expert but seems like an electrical problem.
i was driving 55 mph on north long lake road approaching the north long lake/west long lake intersection. A car was in the turn lane and almost turned to Lake Ann. Another car was approaching going east. The automatic braking suddenly came on for no reason Almost stopping the car in the middle of the road. The CRV slowed very quickly from 55 mph to 5 mph for no reason. Then it went off and I was able to speed back up. this is the second time the braking system has stopped the car for no reason. Luckily there was no one behind me. this is the second complaint I have filed to NHSTA for the same reason
While driving on the highway at 65 mph I heard what I describe as a very loud popping noise on the top of my car. I looked in my rearview mirror to see chunks of black falling behind my car. I immediately put my four ways on and made my way over to the shoulder of the road; this was during rush hour traffic. I had to wait until I could safely exit my car to see what had happened and I discovered my sun roof had shattered for no reason. Nothing had hit it, nothing bounced on the road in front of me and hit my roof, nothing had flown off of any vehicles near me.
Drivers side seat belt failure during accident. Noted by police and EMT
My seat belt has come undone many times in the last few months while I am driving. I reached out to the local dealership that repairs my car and inquired about it, they hadn't heard of a recall. 2-3 months later there has been a recall issued on my year and model of my car for this issue. I brought it in on May 24 to get it repaired and was told they couldn't repair it because there wasn't an actual recall on my car. Well later that day it has happened twice where my seatbelt came undone while I was driving.
Brake intermittently does not push down making it impossible to start the car. I have to open the door and close it then the brake will go down. Also, one time I was stopped while driving trying to get out in traffic and the brake came up and was hard as a rock. I quickly opened the door and closed it and the brake went back down. I have had it at the dealership about this 3 times. The third time the service department Forman had it happen to him but he said he didn’t know why. Nothing was done.
Airbag SRS system warning light. Dealership confirmed airbag inflator on driver side was faulty and airbags would not deploy if driver was in an accident.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving at approximately 35 MPH, the vehicle independently stopped. The contact stated that the brake pedal had not been depressed. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Action Number: PE22003 (Forward Collision Avoidance). The failure mileage was approximately 39,000.
AT A 4 WAY STOP INTERSECTION, WHEN IT WAS MY TURN, I DROVE THROUGH THE INTERSECTION AND SUDDENLY THE AUTOMATIC BRAKING SYSTEM STOPPED THE CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION BUT THERE WAS NOT ANYTHING i WAS GOING TO COLLIDE WITH. THE "BRAKE" WARNING CAME ON BUT AS SOON AS I STOPPED VERY ABRUPTLY, IT WENT OFF AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE AWAY. i AM TERRIFIED THAT THE CRV WILL BRAKE AGAIN WITHOUT WARNING AND A CAR WILL HIT ME.
On November 9, 2022, I was making a left turn while I had a green light. A car coming from the left did not stop at the red light he had and t-boned my car on the driver side. My airbags deployed as they should. However, when I came to, I smelled smoke which was coming from the airbags. I touched my forehead and realized that something had cut my face. However, no glass from my car (windows, mirrors) was broken. I have no idea where the piece of glass came from but suspect it came from one of the airbags that deployed. While this was a small piece of glass (simply noted as an abrasion by the ER), I was not severely injured by it (however, I do have a scar from the incision). But I think this is worth investigating in case there is glass in other vehicle airbags that could more seriously injure someone. The vehicle was totaled by the insurance company and was sold at auction. I am sure it could be tracked down if necessary. Because the car was totaled, it is not able to be tested. The vehicle was inspected by Honda for repair estimates only. There were no warning notices or other symptoms of the problem prior to the accident air bag deployment which shot a small piece of glass and other debris into my face and the vehicle. The debris shot into the vehicle consists or small pieces of paper or fabric.
The contact stated that his granddaughter owned a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while his granddaughter was driving approximately 40 MPH, the automatic braking system activated on the instrument panel and the vehicle stopped immediately after the failure. The driver had to wait several minutes before being able to continue driving. The failure recurred twice. The vehicle had not been taken to the dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 25,000. The dealer adjusted the cameras and sensors. The repairs were made at the owners expense.
Whenever it snows, the radar placement on the front grill of the vehicle gets covered in snow/ice, etc. and all advanced safety features are shut off while driving. This has been reported to Honda before over the last 2 years to no avail. This is a safety hazard and also very dangerous while driving in inclement weather.
The steering is sticking intermittently durning slight right turns. it takes a little effort to straighten out the wheel in those instances. This happens in only right hand maneuvers. unfounded by the dealer.
0n 03/29/2023 i took my car to the dealer for service ( 3rd time ) because my car has only 19000 miles on it . to my surprise the service manager told me that 2 of my tires where in need of attention because there where to close when the tires need to be replace. i ask what is the cause of the uneven wear of the tires ( 5/32,6/32,4/32,4/32) he said didn't know the cause.futher research on my side i find there is a service bulletin from honda ( bulletin 20-081)date from october 8 2020 . with paper in hand i went back to the dealer ,they refuse have any knowledge in regards to the service bulletin. for that reason they wont be able to help. on my search from help i contact HONDA headquarters they asignate a case number and require a mechanical report from the dealer , in which they didn't find any problems with the car , from that came to the conclusion that the tires where the problem , talk to the tire manufacture , what they told me that HONDA need to file a report for them to warranty the tires , so far HONDA deny any warranty on tires
The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, the collision mitigation braking system (CMBS) engaged inadvertently while there were no vehicles or objects nearby the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred several times while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who informed the contact that they could not duplicate the failure as there was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
Phantom Braking incident. This has changed continually happened since I took delivery of the vehicle. The brakes are autonomously applied for no apparent reason.
headlight assembly fogging from excess water entry reduces visibility of daytime running lights.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while at a complete stop, another vehicle going at high speeds crashed into the front end of the passenger's side of the vehicle, and the driver's side air bag deployed abnormally. The air bag exploded and propelled a chemical powder that burned the contact's right hand, throat, chest, and caused the contact ears to ring. Additionally, there was smoke inside the vehicle. A police report was filed. The contact was able to exit the vehicle. The contact was transported to the hospital with the assistance of the emergency units. The contact was still receiving medical assistance. The vehicle was towed to a an auto repair body shop. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 18,000.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that he buckled the car seat in the rear middle seat of the vehicle, and while attempting to buckle the driver’s side rear seat belt, the seat belt failed to buckle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer stated that the seat belt had malfunctioned; however, no additional assistance was provided. The contact was referred to the manufacturer for assistance. The manufacturer was contacted but offered no assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 8,000.
The car brakes have a delay to engage. My vehicle rolled forward 5 feet when brakes disengaged. The brake pedal makes a clunking sound after foot is removed. There is a slight delay between brake release and clunking sound. They stick and car slides forward.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving at various highway speeds, the vehicle intermittently downshifted without warning. The contact stated that on one occasion, he lost control of the vehicle as the vehicle drifted into another lane, which activated the lane assist warning feature. The contact took the vehicle to a dealer where he was informed that there were no recalls on the vehicle; the mechanic also could not diagnose or duplicate the failure. The dealer recommended that the contact disengage the STOP/START feature each time he started the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred him to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 23,000.
Several months ago, I was driving on the interstate with cruise control on. I passed a disabled vehicle parked on the shoulder of the highway. My car started to brake like crazy on its own when I passed this vehicle. Fortunately there were no other vehicles next to me or behind me or I could have had a very serious wreck. Last weekend, I was driving in town and already slowing down on my own for a vehicle in front of me. I was barely touching the brakes but the automatic braking slammed on the brakes for no apparent reason and almost caused the car behind me to rear end my vehicle.
1. Feb 1st. Vehicle stopped on a major highway while I was in fast lane at 70 mph. 2. I could have died. And most certainly would have caused a major accident if myself and others not been keeping proper distance. 3. No. I'm out of warranty. 4. No. 5. Most of the sensors flashed all random before vehicle stopped. I mean the warning sensors like tpms, mitigation, emergency braking system.
The check engine light on my 2020 Honda CRV illuminated on 1/24/2023 7am. The dealer inspected the vehicle on 1/26/2023 and found that a TSB 02-081 applied. The issue is that radio interference in the environment can trigger a fault in the evap syatem which then triggers the check engine light to come on. Seeing a check engine light on is scary and distracting. The owners manual states to drive the vehicle as little as possible and to have the vehicled serviced by a honda dealer ASAP. The vehicle is out of warranty and we had to pay over $330 to have the vehicle fixed. The fix entails ADDING a wiring harness. ADDING any part to remedy a problem means that the vehicle has a design defect/flaw that Honda should pay for. Not the customer.
1) BATTERY SYSTEM 2) IF YOU THINK BEING ABANDONED IN A DARK PARKING LOT FOR 2-3 HRS IS A SAFETY RISK - THE ANSWER IS YES! 3) NO - BUT ITS THE THIRD TIME IT HAPPENED RESULTING IN 2-3 WAITES IN PARKING LOTS AT NITE! . 4) YES. DEALERSHIP IN NAPLES, FL.. 5) NO, NO, NO.
Driving highway speed (65mph). Glass sunroof shattered for no reason. Nothing appears to have hit the sunroof, no debris on road and no trucks or other cars. Researching on web, it appears other people are also experiencing the same issue.
Driving on I-275 freeway along with my friend to Airport. Both Lane Keep Assistant and Adaptive Cruise Control were ON. I kept cruising at 65 miles/hour and drove about 7 miles with no issues. My vehicle slowed down by detecting a vehicle ahead of me driving in 55 m/h. As the next line was free, I moved to the left line and my vehicle started accelerating to 65 m/h. It had not detected a stopped vehicle ahead of me. I expected the ACC OR CMBS features to detect and slow down my car but no alert was received. Also Automatic Emergency Breaking system not slowed down or stopped my vehicle. I applied hard breaks but the vehicle hit the stopped vehicle and both airbags deployed. Lucky that we are safe and no injuries to us but car was totaled. Progressive Auto Policy: [XXX], Police Incident Number: [XXX], Ticket Number: [XXX], Honda complaint number [XXX]. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
The "passenger airbag off" light often stays on when the car is in motion and I am sitting properly in the passenger seat with the seatbelt buckled. I have tried adjusting the seat (which often doesn't work), or the light will stay on again the next time I get in even though the seat position hasn't changed. The dealer where we bought the vehicle says "nothing can be done" by them. This has happened in two rental vehicles as well (one was a CRV). I am over 65, female and weigh 95-105 lbs.
When I first purchased the vehicle (brand new in 2020), the condensation in the tail lights occurred but the Honda dealer replaced it since it was under warranty. It’s still happening and it’s even more severe now risking the brake and turn lights burning out. The same Honda dealer now refuses to replace them despite the tail lights still being under the 3 year 36,000 mile warranty.
In March/April 2020 I was driving at 65 miles per hour on a rural highway. The only vehicles on the road were my car, the pickup in front of me and the pickup behind me. Since the highway was so quiet, I decided to try Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC). I set it for 65 miles per hour (the speed limit). We had been driving for about 15 minutes, each car maintaining the same speed and distance. The pickup in front of me turned on his turn signal for a right turn and entered the right turn lane. As my car approached the pickup, in the turn lane, the automatic braking system activated. I lunged forward, the seat belt activated, braking warning was displayed on screen and there was an audible alarm. I managed to take control of the vehicle and to accelerate. I was afraid the vehicle behind me would collide with me. I turned off ACC and tried to regain my composure. When the pickup moved into the right hand lane, there was nothing in front of me as far as the eye could see; just open highway. I will never use ACC again. Yesterday, December 19, I was driving on a side street. I had just exited a school zone, speed limit 15, and my speed was now approximately 22, no vehicles in front of me just some cars parked at the curb ahead to my right. There was an audible tone and the word BRAKE displayed on the screen. The brakes did not activate.
The auto brake feature engaged on the beltway by itself and caused the car to come to a complete stop while cars behind us were forced to swerve out of the way to avoid a serious accident. My wife is afraid to keep driving the car and we are now figuring out a way to get rid of it. Reported to local dealer but did not get any response.
Phantom Braking Incident. As I was driving at approximately 35 mph, the vehicle applied brakes for no apparent reason. Luckily, the vehicle traveling behind me didn't crash into the rear of my vehicle but had this happened when traveling at higher speeds, there would have been a serious accident. This has happened numerous times since owning the vehicle, but only the 2nd time I've reported it here.
When driving at high speed on the highway, I have had instances of both FCW and/or AEB activating when there was no vehicle in front of me. This tends to happen without known cause and while I take the same route every day on my commute, the issue does not always occur. When FCW initiates with a large flashing BRAKE warning on the dash and loud beeping while at highway speeds, I am startled and second guess myself that I am not seeing something I am about to impact with. This creates confusion and can lead to making a maneuver or my braking in error which can cause a crash. This issue has occured numerous times and in speaking with other owners of the same vehicle, they have witnessed the same issue. I have also had AEB initiate at least twice while at highway speeds when there was no vehicle in front of me. This is the most frightening and dangerous issue that I've experienced in any vehicle I have driven. As with the above issue with FCW, there seems to be no way to reproduce the issue and it happens at random. While at highway speeds after receiving the FCW BRAKE warning, my vehicle instantaneously began emergency braking with no vehicle in front of me. This issue is unacceptable and can cause a serious crash on the highway. I speculate that these issues both may be caused by overhead highway signs or bridges but does not seem to occur in error consistently, even when driving the same route. I worry that these issues will cause myself or my family to be seriously injured due to failing safety technology and I have considered disabling these features in my vehicle. These issues have not been inspected nor verified independently as I have felt the issue is unresolvable based on feedback I have heard. At this point I consider myself lucky for not having been in a crash due to these systems failing.
I was driving and the automatic emergency breaking activated without warning. I was driving 40 miles per hour with no car near me and the car abruptly stopped without warning. This is the second time this has happened with a similar situation occurring
Automatic braking system engaging when no cars or objects are present. Has happened while on highway at relatively high speeds and on regular neighborhood streets.
August 13, I started my car and there was a loud noise. Then a alert on my dash, that there was a problem with my air bags. I could not get appointment with the Honda dealer until August 30. They determined that parts were defective. SRS Unit and weight sensor needs to be replaced. They ordered the parts but they are not available. So I am driving my newer Honda because I have no other car but they said if there was a wreck, the air bags would not function. Real disgusting that about that time, I got an email that they were getting in 17 NEW Honda CRV. If they can produce new ones, they have the parts I need to stay safe. They need to take care of this immediately! Winter will be here soon. Chances of accidents increase.
I have noticed multiple times that when i exit from highway it will suddenly deaccelerate. I wasn't following any cars on those days and luckily no car behind me those times.
too frequently the car automatically hard brakes & flashes "BRAKE" on the dash with no collision imminent but has almost caused accidents in doing so. This has happened turning slowly thru a busy intersection, driving moderate speed straight on a dappled sunlit road with no car around, driving in light traffic on a multi-lane highway at higher speeds. I have had the local Honda techs look at it last year and all they could do is ask if I want the sensitivity turned down. What good is the system if one thwarts what it is supposed to actually do?? Also there is no way to clean the front cameras which might have debris causing this. As it is happening more frequently, perhaps a debris collection is precisely the issue. Honda needs to take ownership of this faulty system & fix it!
The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that the fuel pump would remain activated after turning the vehicle off. The contact indicated that the failure was intermittent with a humming sound coming from the vehicle during the failure. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 30,000.
Driving north toward Lebanon, Ohio on Route 48. One passenger and one dog in backseat. No one in front passenger seat. Car beeped and alerted to BRAKE then suddenly braked very hard with no cars around or in front.
1. The vehicle will inadvertently and without warning, apply the brakes (phantom braking). 2. The Lane keeping assist will not follow the road, especially when the road curves. The vehicle will sometimes not negotiate the required turn to stay in the lane.
Sunroof window spontaneously exploded while driving. I was the only vehicle on the road when the window exploded. Happened at approximately 630am. Have searched but no recalls on this issue, only a class action lawsuit.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving 20 MPH, the Collision Mitigation Braking system engaged and the vehicle stopped abruptly. There were no other vehicles or objects nearby. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal and resumed normal driving. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred on four different occasions. The dealer was notified of the failure and an appointment was scheduled. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 4,000.
VEHICLE HEADLIGHTS -LOW BEAM OR HIGH BEAM ARE INADIQUATE AND DANGERIOUS. AN AUTOMOTIVE TECH CONFIRMED THE OEM HEADLIGHTS FAIL SAFE DRIVING AT NIGHT EVEN ON LIGHTED CITY STREETS. THE PLASTIC HEADLIGHT ASSMS DO NOT ALLOW LIGHT TO SAFELY SHOW THRU. EVEN AFTER NEW LED BULBS INSTALLED THE ASSEMBLYS DEFUSE LIGHTING. MY WIFE AND I NO LONGER CAN SAFELY DRIVE AT NIGHT WITH THIS VEHICLE. THIS SAFETY PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPORTED TO THE SELLING DEALER, TO NO AVAIL! MY SON HAS DRIVEN THIS VEHICLE AT NIGHT - AND WAS ALSO TERRIFIED. THE TECHNICIAN WHO INSTALLED "LED HEAD LIGHT BULBS" CONFIRMED THAT OUR 2020 HONDA CRV OUTER "REFLECTOR ASSEMBLYS ARE AT FAULT ! AND THIS IS A DANGEROUS VEHICLE TO DRIVE AT NIGHT.
My moonroof glass randomly shattered while driving on the highway. There was no sign of rocks or other debris that might have been the cause.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated his wife noticed an unknown warning light was illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle's oil was changed by a mechanic. On another occasion, the vehicle would not start. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis and they stated that the vehicle needed a new engine. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and they stated that they would contact him back. The failure mileage was 14,700.
I was in an accident this morning on the freeway where they are doing road construction. The lanes are VERY narrow due to cement wall placed for construction. The vehicle in front of me slammed on their brakes suddenly so when i did the Automatic brakes kicked in on my car surpassing the level of my own braking and took over. The car came to a compelete stop. IT was terrifying because i didnt have control to keep moving to try and get out of the way from the semi driving behind me. I moved over as much as i could even with a cement wall so close. I ended up getting rear ended by the Semi. This automatic braking system is DANGEROUS. With the car taking over my brakes lost me time to try and get out of the way even more which ccould have possibly prevented the accident from happening.
The passenger side airbag sensor is not working properly. There is a light that goes on and says "passenger airbag off" when a passenger under 65lbs is in the seat. The passenger side airbag in this car is being deactivated when there are passengers that weight 95-150lbs sitting in the seat. The passengers are always buckled and the car is driving forward between 10-65 mph. I filed a complaint with Honda and have brought it to 2 different dealerships. One dealership replaced the sensors but the issue continues to occur. I was told by Simon from Honda Corporation that I needed to bring it in when the problem was occurring, so I did. That dealership weighed several people on a scale and in the passenger seat with a computer hooked up to the car. The weight the seat was sensing was off by about 40lbs. The sensors was "recalibrated". After they were "recalibrated" the weight was still off by 20-30lbs when we weighed a person by scale and then compared it to the weight that the seat was sensing. I was told that there was nothing else they can do, that it was a 2 sensor system and that is the "best they can do". The dealership reported back to Honda that the system was "working without issues" despite it still being significantly off after calibration. I requested a regional engineer to examine my car and was denied by Simon. I requested to speak with a supervisor and was denied by Simon. I have multiple videos showing this malfunction and the discrepancies in weight. I offered to send them to Honda and Simon refused to accept them. The sensors clearly aren't weighing the passengers properly and disabling the passenger airbag inappropriately. This is a SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE! I am certain there are other CRV's with the same issue because the dealership hooked another CRV up to a computer and compared sensed weights vs actual weights right in front of me and that CRV seat sensor was off by 10-15lbs. I am concerned!! My car has had NO accidents/front damage.
When I was driving my vehicle on 7-21-22 at approximately 4:20pm my emergency breaking system was flashing and breaking on it's own. There was nothing in front of my vehicle at the time. Later at approximately 4:25pm a woman hit my passenger side after running a red light. My passenger side airbag did not deploy. However, about 5-10 seconds after impact my steering wheel airbag deployed and hit me in the left side of my face. The delayed reaction has caused lacerations on my face, burns on my hand, bruising and loss of part of my tooth. I am also suffering from head issues and pain in my chest from this delayed airbag deployment. Vehicle had to be towed away to a garage and is not drivable.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while her husband was driving 5 mph, the brakes were depressed by mitigation braking system. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The driver was depressing the accelerator pedal but failed to accelerate causing the vehicle behind him to rear end their vehicle. The contact stated no one was injured nor sought medical attention. A police report was not filed. The contact towed the vehicle to the local dealer but they were unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired and the driver deactivated the forward collision on the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a collision shop and had the rear bumper replaced. The manufacturer has been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 6,028.
I just leased my crv 2020 on May of 2019 and after a week or 2 I had my car battery die on me. Jump started it and took it to Honda and they said they will change the battery. After 2 weeks it happened again and they changed it again. Around March of this year 2022 it happened again and they changed it again. And today it won’t start again. Since it’s 4th of July weekend I have to take it to them Tuesday.
At 41,000 miles, my 2020 Honda CR-V door lock actuator on the driver’s side rear door quit working. When I would come to a stop at a stop sign/light, it would attempt to engage and make clicking sounds. I attempted to manually lock the door and use the key fob with no luck. The door lock absolutely would not lock. I have small children in the backseat so this had to be fixed ASAP. The dealer confirmed and I had to cover all costs.
On 5 separate occasions the CRV has automatically braked HARD while driving down the highway. On none of the occasions has another vehicle or obstacle warranted this automatic braking. We were about rear-ended while on the interstate driving 70 when the car automatically braked. I am including the latest automatic braking incident in this report.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, the vehicle unexpectedly came to a complete stop. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to drive the vehicle home safely. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 26,000.
While driving the vehicle on an interstate, the dashboard and infotainment system screens both went completely dark. Pulled the vehicle off the highway; shutting it off and restarting it did not resolve the issue. After using the steering wheel controls and screen brightness rotary control on the dashboard the displays eventually came back on. So far this is a one-time occurrence; however, a friend with the same year and model (2020 CR-V Ex) just experienced a similar problem. In his case the dashboard display continued to work but the infotainment system went dark. I took the vehicle in to a local Honda dealer. They were unable to find any issues with the vehicle displays and said there are no active recalls. Note that a similar problem resulted in a recall for 2017-2019 Honda CR-Vs. Apparently the 2020s have the same or similar issue which to date Honda has not addressed.
235/55/p19 tire blew ou,t and split on edge of tread at 65 miles an hour about all way around between tire tread and sidewall
Car brakes on its own when no vehicle in front of or around my vehicle.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving approximately 30 MPH with the cruise control engaged, the vehicle began to brake suddenly. The contact deactivated the cruise control and the vehicle began to function normally. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 8,000.
My car has been braking on its own the last 5 months. Today it braked for no reason. There was no car in front of us or to either side of us. There was nothing in front of us either. It braked super hard and there was someone behind us who luckily slammed on their brakes and didn’t hit us. It gave me and my kids whiplash. Other times it will brake on its own if there’s a shadow from a bridge or something. Again when it does that there are no cars in front or next to us or even remotely close to us. This is beginning to be a frequent thing happening once or more a week. It’s super dangerous and I don’t feel safe with it braking for no reason.
The contact's mother owned a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while her mother was driving at under 10 MPH, the accelerator pedal was stuck and the brake pedal failed to stop the vehicle while depressed. The vehicle went over an embankment and crashed into a house, then came to a complete stop after crashing into several trees. The air bags were deployed upon impact. There were no injuries to the residents inside of the house. The contact's mother suffered soreness in her right leg, but no medical attention was received. No police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a body shop and was not yet deemed totaled by the insurance company. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 7,000.
In September of 2020 I purchased a brand new 2020 Honda CR-V Touring with 235/55R19 CrossContact LX Sport M+S tires. On April 3, 2022 I was on a trip away (several hundred miles) from home when my 17 year old daughter (who drives the CR-V) contacted me about one tire that was low on air. She sent me a photo. I informed her to put air in the tire to see if it continued to leak and I would fix it when I got home. Taking initiative, she asked me if she could fix it while I was away. I gave her inspection instructions. She carefully inspected the tire and found no outside defects such as screw/nail/puncture foreign material. Since the leak was very slow, she filled the tire with air and safely drove the car to Firestone Tire at 395 Eisenhower Dr, Hanover, PA 17331. Once she got there the tire technician attempted to find the leak. He was unable to find any outside defect or leak and continued by removing the tire from the rim. I then got a phone call from my daughter who had the technician on speakerphone. He described the issue to me as a tire manufacturing defect that he has never seen before. My daughter then texted me photos of the issue. The defect is easily seen on the inside molded lines in the sidewall. It is where the bead rolls into the sidewall. In the molded lines there are areas where the lines are interrupted/missing and with what appears to be several small holes in the rubber. Firestone could not advise how to proceed. The tire was remounted. The technician put a little extra tire sealant on the bead. She then drove the vehicle home. I have since also read the these tires, of other sizes, have had a vulcanizing problem. My tire clearly has this issue and Continental needs to update their recall list to include these as well.
I was attempting to park in front of a medical professional building with my foot on the brake slowly rolling between the parking lines when the car experienced sudden unintended acceleration. Although I realized the car was accelerating and lurching forward, the brake was not stopping the vehicle. The car jumped the parking curb and crashed into the building causing damage to both the exterior and interior wall of the doctor's waiting room. While neither myself, my passenger, nor any patients in the waiting room were injured, someone could have been. The air bags did not deploy, and the Collision Mitigation system did not engage preventing the collision. Damage to the vehicle consisted of mostly front bumper and grill damage. When I called the local Honda dealership service department asking if I should have them evaluate the car before having body work completed, I was told that the dealership does not accept damaged cars until the body work has been completed. Consequently, I had the car towed to a body shop even though it was technically drivable. I did not feel safe driving the vehicle fearing it would suddenly accelerate again. I reported the incident to the Honda corporate office and a case was opened. I was again told that damage to the car had to be repaired by the body shop before the car would be evaluated by Honda. When the body shop completed the repairs, I had the car towed to the local Honda dealership for evaluation. I specifically requested that the Event Data Recorder be evaluated, but I received conflicting answers when I asked if it had been accessed during the inspection. I was told that the Honda District Representative reviewed the data from the inspection and invoice states, "no defects in materials or factory workmanship were found (NAME of tech) inspected and found no issues, relayed information to Honda and they advised the vehicle is ok to drive at this time". The vehicle was released back to me, but I refuse to drive it.
While driving the Automatic Braking System engaged even though there was nobody in front of me. The first time was on a freeway, it suddenly engaged even though there wasn’t a vehicle anywhere close to the front of my vehicle. This could have been bad and I could have been hit from behind if a driver behind me wasn’t paying attention and my vehicle stopped all of a sudden without warning. The second time it happened I was driving on a city road. My lane was empty ahead of me. The system automatically engaged and stopped my vehicle. I noticed the vehicle behind me had to stop quickly because of this. I have not had this checked by Honda yet. I did see that Honda has recalled other year model vehicles for having the same issues. If my vehicle is having the same problems then I would hope Honda would inspect it at no charge. There were no warning lights or advanced warnings that this was going to occur. I feel it is very dangerous because the vehicle just stops all of a sudden and as the driver you are jerked forward. The first occurrence was not very long ago, within the last month. The latest incident was 3/5/22.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Infotainment display. Yes it is available for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The display periodically freezes in rear camera view when the vehicle is moving forward. It also freezes in other views and crashes. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No, dealer could not reproduce. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No.
I have a 2020 Honda CR-V that is having a Phantom Braking issue. It has happened several times, 3 of which were while on the expressway and a tractor trailer was behind me. The CR-V warning system would flash "BRAKE" and then stop suddenly, there was nothing in front of me, nothing to either side of me. When I took it to the dealership, the technician could not replicate the issue and said 'it was a common issue with all vehicles' and recommended that I 'just turn it off, I did so on my vehicle.' After seeing the news I now know that I am not the only one with this issue. I purchased this vehicle from the dealer in June 2020, and this began in September 2021.
On multiple occasions during highway or other driving, the automatic emergency braking has engaged causing the car to either slow quickly or attempt to come to a stop which required immediate intervention to avoid potentially being rear ended. Driving was occurring during daylight hours and not in traffic.
Windshield has a significant refraction causing issues with visibility at night. Light passing through windshield is variably refracted depending on eye level and viewing angle. Issue has existed since car delivered. Vehicle was taken to dealer and advised of this several times with no fix attempted to date. Will continue to seek remediation from manufacturer and will consider lemon law if not resolved. This is becoming a common issue with more windshields as there are no real standards for windshield light refraction.
On several separate occasions our Honda 2020 CRV has applied braking in circumstances where it should not have. On one occasion the vehicle ahead was maintaining the same speed and distance and our car applied brakes although the vehicle ahead was more car lengths ahead than 1 per 10 MPH. On other occasions there were no vehicles ahead or beside, while we were traveling at highway speeds on open highway and the car abruptly applied brakes. In each instance the braking stopped after a short jerk. In other words, it behaved as if the driver had lightly tapped the brakes, although that was not the case.
My car has applied the automatic emergency braking 4 times with no emergency needed as no other cars were around. All events included shadows from either a highway sign or a group of trees and occurred throughout the summer/fall of 2021.
Almost 2 weeks ago I was driving on the Florida Turnpike (about 77mph) and suddenly the gas quit on the car. It slower down to about 50mph as I kept trying to give it gas but to no avail. Meanwhile I was lucky enough to be able to steer it into the right lane. This seemed to last a long time but in. truth it was probably only about 5 - 7 seconds. Then suddenly the gas came back on. This happened two more times during the same trip but these were shorter in duration amounting to a big hiccup on the gas. It has never happened to me again. I took it to the Honda dealer. They said they took it out for a spin and couldn't replicate it and had no idea what was wrong. Now I rarely drive on roads that are high speed so perhaps that is why it has not happened again. I see that you are investigating a similar issue for CRV's that are 2018 -19 but mine is 2020. It sounds as though it's the same problem. Luckily I was never in an accident with the car so the police and insurance was never involved.
The vehicle battery drains if parked for a week without driving. The battery needs to be boosted to start the vehicle if parked for a week without driving.
We were cruising along Rt 130 in New Jersey when suddenly the Automatic Emergency Braking System "Brake" flashed on my dashboard and my vehicle braked for a while (from 50mph to 30mph) although there were no cars or any obstacles ahead of us. I had to step on the gas pedal to avoid any rear-end collision on me. Luckily, there were no vehicle behind me at that time.
Following a car that then pulled over in to the breakdown lane the automatic braking engaged when there was nothing in front of us reducing the speed causing other cars behind us to have to lockup their brakes for no reason. This was very dangerous to myself and the cars behind us. The system does this often with nothing in the lane.
Automatic Braking applied even when nothing in front of vehicle, on freeway at freeway speeds.
My car was parked in my driveway all day and all night. At some point during the evening all of the windows and moon roof were opened without my knowledge (my keys were on the counter). It rained all night and my car obtained substantial water damage which cost approximately $18,000.00 to repair. I couldn’t drive my car until the repairs were made due to risk of electrical incident while driving. Honda has taken no responsibility. My car is a 2020 Honda CRV. It was recently brought to my attention that windows opening unexpectedly on Honda CRVs has been an issue since at least 2017 with the most recent incident that I know of happening on a 2021 model. Honda has been aware of this “glitch” for at least five years but has done nothing to correct it. It is a safety issue for many reasons. I would like this “glitch” to be corrected so that others will not have to suffer the loss and damages that I did. Insult to injury is I purchased my car from Honda in 2020 for $33,000.00 and then in 2021 I had to pay Honda almost $18,000.00 to fix damages sustained due to their negligence in addressing an issue that they knew about for at least 5 years.
Spontaneous sunroof shattering/explosion. While driving on a highway the sunroof on my Honda 2020 CRV AWD vehicle suddenly shattered and blew out completely. As I was on a two lane busy highway - I-80 going East 2 miles south of Colfax I had to slow down and exit after driving 2 miles and find the frontage road. There have been many owners of Honda's that have experienced the same event. Honda should be responsible for installing faulty glass in their sunroofs.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked with the engine on, the emergency parking brake was not engaged, she reached the vehicle to push the push/start button to turn off the vehicle, and the vehicle started to roll backward. The contact stated that the vehicle rolled over both legs and she required medical attention. A police report was filed. The contact stated that the vehicle stopped once it collided with the neighbor's house across the street. The vehicle was towed to a collision shop for diagnostic testing and body repairs. The diagnostic testing has not been performed on the vehicle. The dealer was contacted and advised the contact to call the Honda manufacturer. The contact stated that she has not been able to reach the manufacturer to make them aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 17,000.

The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while his wife was attempting to park the vehicle at 1 MPH, the vehicle independently accelerated without warning. The vehicle jumped a curb and crashed into a tree which stopped the acceleration; the contact, who was in the passenger seat, was able to place the vehicle into neutral and shut off the engine. The contact stated that the airbags did not deploy upon impact. The police were called the scene and a police report was filed. The contact was able to drive the vehicle back home despite the severe front-end damage. The contact was also able to drive the vehicle to an independent body shop as several warning lights had appeared on the instrument panel which he linked to the accident. They remained in the possession of the body shop for repair. The contact and his wife sought medical treatment from a doctor where his wife was treated for a large lump on the back of her head and the contact was diagnosed for chest contusion after having a chest X-ray. The dealer was notified of the contact of the failure and was informed that they do not perform body repairs. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 11,500. Consumer stated the total repair cost of the car was $10,446.10.
My 2020 honda cr-v will randomly auto brake on the hwy when approaching a shadow at a hwy overpass. It doesn't happen every time so not predictable. It is terrifying when it does happen as I am driving at hwy speeds and then my car randomly slams on the brakes. This is not ok! I have experienced this about 5 times in the last 6 months.
When I bought the car it had collision mitigation technology. Now it does not. I took it to Airport Honda in Alcoa TN yesterday for this problem along with regular service. They said they contacted Honda, who had no answer on why this system failed to work. I paid for a safety system that worked. Now it doesn't any Honda has not idea why and offers no solution or recourse. I consider this a safety issue that I hope you will take some involvement in. Thank you very much. This was my first explanation of my cars defect when submitting a claim to Honda through the NCDS. Good morning, I have had trouble with Apple Car Play since I purchased my new vehicle. I called the dealership in November and asked how to fix it. They suggested to try an apple USB/IPhone charger so I tried varies different USB cords and got them to work for awhile. In Jan. 2021 my Apple Car Play just stopped working all together. I would plug in my phone and the car would tell me that this function is not available. Then when I did occasionally get it to work, about 5 minutes into my drive. My touch screen monitor would turn completely black and I wouldn’t be able to use any other functions, even after turning my car off and back on, the screen would remain black until the next time I drove it. It works for a short period of time after doing a factory reset but only for about 12 hours, then it either turns black or the message “this function is unavailable” pops up and my device isn’t detected. I can’t even use the iPod function just to play music, it’s like it doesn’t recognize my phone, yet it will charge my phone. It just won’t recognize anything else. I have brought it into the dealer 6 times regarding this issue before the last two attempts to fix it, I even called apple support as recommended by the dealership. They were aware of the issue and told me to wait until the next update for it to be fixed. So I did... and it still didn’t work. That’s when I went in two more times and no one can seem to figure out what’s wrong. Thank you for your time, I hope we can resolve this issue soon. Have a great day! Cassie I had sent in multiple documents and a testimony explaining my cars defect and due to that defect the loss of use, value and safety to the vehicle. My request to fix this defect was denied. My case manager then notified me to move forward with my case and file a claim through the Minnesota Lemon Law and they recommend also submitting a claim to NHTSA
The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that the vehicle was serviced at a tire shop and failed to shift into reverse. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact towed the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing an unknown fuse to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred on July 23, 2021. The contact stated while driving 5 mph, she heard an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle before the vehicle stalled. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated she was unable to shift gears. The contact stated a bystander assisted her to manually shift the gear to be able to drive back to her residence. The contact towed the vehicle back to the local dealer. The vehicle was not repaired but was pending repairs. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 8,400.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that an abnormal, humming was heard intermittently coming from the passenger’s side rear wheel after turning off the vehicle. The contact believed that the fuel pump might have been the cause of the failure. The dealer was contacted about the issue and informed him that the Vin was not under recall. The contact was also informed that if the vehicle was inspected by the dealer and no failure was found, no action would be taken to repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown. The Vin was unavailable.
There is a wiring harness for automatic mirror dimming that runs out of the front headliner to the back of the rear-view mirror (P/N32155-TLA-A31 32119) that seems to be without sufficient strain relief inside the mirror. On 5/9/2021, I started my CR-V only to have multiple system failure warnings scrolling across the dash. On 5/10/2021, I took the vehicle to the dealership. They found a blown fuse (P/N 38221-SNA-A41) but were not able to determine why it blew. On 5/25/2021, the same problem reoccurred. I took the vehicle that day to the dealership. The only difference was that (at least as I knew at the time) was that both failures happened after I used the remote start function. On 5/26/2021, after many attempts to duplicate the problem using remote start, the dealership contacted me saying they needed to do more troubleshooting. On 5/27/2021, The dealership contacted me saying they had determined the problem was a short in the above-mentioned harness and asked if I had hung anything on it. I mentioned that I occasionally hung my Handicap Placard (net weight 0.7 ounces) on it, but it would also be bumped by the windshield sunshade I use. The service advisor said that the repairs were not covered under the warranty since it was something I did, and not the fault of the vehicle. I asked the dealership to provide me with the damaged harness for my inspection, and the service advisor agreed to that. When the vehicle was returned to me on 6/4/2021, the harness was not in the vehicle, nor, according to the service advisor, in the building. I am an engineer with years of experience in cabling and harnesses, I wanted to see the damage for myself, as well as what physical harness strain relief accommodations were made for it. When the second incident happened, we were near home, and the dealership. It could have happened a week later when we were on our vacation and driving through the middle of the wheat fields of Kansas - stranded.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while reversing out of a driveway, when depressing the brake pedal it failed to stop and crashed into a high voltage box. The contact stated she was unaware if any warning lights were illuminated. The air bags did not deploy. The contact sustain injuries on her neck and back but did not seek medical attention. A police report was filed. The contact was able to drive to her residence. The contact called the local dealer and they were made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 8,300.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated she added $38 of fuel into the fuel tank and after an hour of driving the low fuel warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled due to running low on fuel. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact towed the vehicle to local dealer. The repair was still pending. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 8,000.
had the very first oil change for my new 2020 Honda CRV at approx 6200 miles and was told there was gasoline mixed in with my oil. the shop brought out a sample and you could smell the gas. took to a Honda dealer and they did not find any problems. oil change was NOT done at a Honda dealer. was told by the shop that performed oil change that they have seen this problem with other Honda motors
Unknown: computer touch screen periodically shuts down. It also loses connection for unknown reason with Apple play. I’ve rebooted the computer and sometimes that helps but not as much as I’d hope for it to resolve the connecting issue.
SEAT BELT BUCKLES ON THE LEFT SIDE AND THE MIDDLE WILL MAKE THE SEAT BELTS CROSS OVER EACH OTHER.
THE COVER FOR THE UNDERCARRIAGE CAME LOOSE AND STARTED DRAGGING. I WAS DRIVING ON A BLACKTOP COUNTY ROAD.
MY SUNROOF EXPOLODED/SHATTERED SPONTANEOUSLY. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. I WAS MOSTLY ALONE ON THIS STRETCH OF HIGHWAY. I WAS NOT IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE, UNDER A BRIDGE/OVERPASS, OR OTHERWISE IN AN AREA THAT WOULD PRODUCE ANY KIND OF PROJECTILE. THERE WAS NOT A TRUCK OR VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME THAT COULD HAVE KICKED A PROJECTILE INTO THE AIR. THERE WAS NOTHING THAT CAME THROUGH THE SUNROOF INTO MY CAR THAT I COULD IDENTIFY AS A PROJECTILE. MY SUNROON SHATTERED AT RANDOM. I HAVE DISCOVERED OTHERS WITH THIS SAME ISSUE BOTH WITH HONDA AND OTHER MANUFACTURERS.
I GOT IN TO START THE CAR IN THE PARKING GARAGE AND IT WOULD NOT START BECAUSE THE BATTERY WAS DEAD. I WAS INFORMED THE BATTERY WAS DEAD BECAUSE I DID NOT DRIVE IT ENOUGH BY THE DEALERSHIP. I AM NEARLY 78 YEARS OLD. I DO NOT KNOW HOW MUCH I NEED TO DRIVE THE CAR TO KEEP IT CHARGED. I THINK THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW.
IF MY VEHICLE IS PARKED FOR A WEEK OR MORE, THE BATTERY HAS TO BE JUMP STARTED. THE CAR HAS UNDER 2000 MILES ON IT. THIS CREATES AN UNSAFE ENVIRONMENT WHEN THE CAR WON'T START AFTER THAT SHORT OF A PERIOD. THE DEALERSHIP SAID TO DRIVE IT MORE OFTEN! THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE.
DASH PANEL FREEZE RUNNING THE VEHICLE , CANT SEE SPEED UP OR DOWN , REVS ETC.. AND RADIO PANEL FREEZE TOO HAVE TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE EVERY TIME THIS HAPPEN.
AFTER FINISHING A 300 MILE TRIP, WE UNLOADED THE CAR AND PARKED IT. THIS VEHICLE IS A MONTH OLD, WITH 557 MILES AFTER THIS TRIP. I SPENT 60 MINUTES LOOKING FOR ROAD DINGS AND ANY SCRATCHES. FOUND NOTHING! I WENT BACK OUT TO BE SURE WE LOCKED AND FOUND A 5 INCH CRACK ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD. I SPENT ANOTHER 30 MINUTES LOOKING FOR A REASON/CAUSE. THERE WAS NO MARKS ON THIS VEHICLE WHEN ARRIVED AT OUR DESTINATION. AND AFTER SITTING PARKED FOR AT LEAST AN HOUR THE WINDSHIELD WAS CRACKED. IT APPEARS THAT BOTH LAYERS OF GLASS ARE DAMAGED!
THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK AND CAN'T BE CORRECTED. IT WILL COME ON SHOWING A TPM PROBLEM. THIS IS NOT MONITORING TIRE SAFETY. ON CITY STREETS IT WILL REMAIN CORRECT FOR SEVERAL MILES. ON THE HIGHWAY IT REGISTERS THE TPM PROBLEM AFTER TWO TO THREE MILES.
THE CAR LOOSES HEAT WHEN IDLING OR GOING DOWN A HILL. YOU LOOSE HEAT AND THE WINDOWS FOG UP AND YOU CANT SEE.
I USE MY VEHICLE REGULARLY ONCE A DAY O MAYBE TWICE, SHORT RIDES, SOMETIMES HIGHWAYS SHORT TIME 1H TOTAL IN A DAY. THE CAR IS ASKING ME A CHANGE OIL VERY OFTEN, AROUND 1500 MILES WHEN THE REGULAR IS 3-5K I ASKED ANOTHER DRIVERS AND THEY HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. COULD YOU PLEASE HELP US WITH THIS ?
ICE CAN GET STUCK IN THE EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLE, NOT ALLOWING YOU TO OPEN YOUR CAR DOOR FROM THE INSIDE. A SCARY ISSUE IN COLDER CLIMATES. I REPLICATED THE ISSUE WITH MY PASSENGER SIDE DOOR.
CRANKCASE FUEL/OIL DILUTION PROBLEM ON HONDA 1.5L DIRECT FUEL INJECTED, TURBO ENGINE. UPON THE FIRST OIL CHANGE ON OUR 2020 HONDA CR-V EXL AT ABOUT 6300 MILES WE FOUND THE OIL LEVEL IN THE CRANKCASE TO BE OVERFULL BY APPROXIMATELY 1 PINT. THE OIL SMELLED FAINTLY OF GASOLINE AND APPEARED THINNER THAN NORMAL. SEE ATTACHED PICTURE. WE LIVE IN A TOWN OF 22,000. MOST TRIPS AROUND TOWN ARE 2 MILES EACH WAY AT MOST, WHICH ACCORDING TO HONDA IS PART OF THE PROBLEM AS THE ENGINE DOES NOT RUN AT NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE LONG ENOUGH TO EVAPORATE FUEL IN THE CRANKCASE. WE DO TAKE OCCASIONAL TRIPS OF AN HOUR OR MORE EACH DIRECTION. HONDA SAYS THIS PROBLEM IS MADE WORSE BY COLD CLIMATES, HOWEVER, OUR WINTER WHERE WE LIVE HAD BEEN VERY MILD COMPARED TO MOST WINTERS WHEN OUR OIL WAS CHANGED. MOST DAYS THE OUTSIDE AIR TEMP HAD BEEN IN THE 30'S TO LOW 40'S. I'VE BEEN TOLD BY MY HONDA DEALER'S SERVICE MANAGER THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND HONDA HAS NO FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT HAVING PROPER OIL VISCOSITY. IF THE OIL LEVEL IN OUR HONDA ENGINE CRANKCASE WAS A PINT OVER FULL, THAT WOULD BE EQUIVALENT TO A 13% FUEL CONTENT SINCE THE ENGINE ONLY HOLDS 3.7 QUARTS OF OIL. THAT SEEMS EXCESSIVE AND VISCOSITY HAS TO SUFFER ALLOWING EXCESSIVE ENGINE WEAR. HONDA SAYS IT WILL BE FINE. I HAVE WRITTEN TO HONDA CORP. ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND HAVE NOT RECEIVED A REPLY.
WHILE IN MOTION, DASHBOARD AND RADIO DISPLAY GO DARK AND BECOME UNREADABLE. SO FAR HAS RECOVERED, BUT CAN TAKE MORE THAN AN HOUR. IN MEANTIME, CAN'T TELL SPEED OF CAR AND LOSE MAP DIRECTIONS. SAME THING HAPPENED ON 2017 HONDA CRV. HONDA HAS NO TECH BULLETINS ON THIS. HARD TO IMAGINE IF IT'S BEEN HAPPENING FOR AT LEAST 4 MODEL YEARS.
HOOD IS MISALIGNED FROM THE FACTORY RESULTING IN HOOD LATCH MISALIGNMENT AND BENDING. LATCH DRAGS ON MECHANISM WHEN CLOSING. PER HONDA CERTIFIED BODY TECH, METAL FATIGUE WILL EVENTUALLY CAUSE LATCH TO FAIL POSSIBLY LEADING TO HOOD COMING UNLATCHED DURING DRIVING. WE DIDN'T NOTICE UNTIL SEVERAL DAYS AFTER ACCEPTING DELIVERY
BOUGHT 2019 ACCORD NEW HAD THE ROTORS REPLACED AT 8,000 FIRST I WENT IN THEY TURNED THEM MADE IT WORSE HAD TO GO BACK THEY TURNED AGAIN STILL BAD SO THEY REPLACED WITH A NEW SET .I'M AT 16,800 AND IT'S STARTING TO DO IT AGAIN AND THE DEALER SAYS THEY CAN'T FEEL IT YET AND .NOW I HAVE TO SHOW THEM THE CHATTERING THAT'S JUST STARTING BUT IT SHOULDN'T BE THEY ONLY HAVE 8,000 MILES I HAVE 3 OTHER HONDA ALL MY BRAKES ARE FINE EXCEPT MY NEW CAR THAT'S A PROBLEM
MY VEHICLE ( 2020 HONDA CRV) WAS TRAVELING APPROX. 50 MPH ON A HIGHWAY WHEN HIT BY A FORD 350 VAN AS IT ATTEMPTED TO CROSS THE HIGHWAY. MY VEHICLE WAS HIT DIRECTLY ON THE DRIVERS SIDE DEMOLISHING DRIVERS SIDE BACK PASSENGER DOOR AND A PORTION TOWARD BACK END INCLUDING FUEL DOOR. NO AIR BAGS DEPLOYED !!! MY DRIVERS DOOR WAS JAMMED! I WAS UNABLE TO EXIT MY VEHICLE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE AND HAD TO CRAWL OUT FRONT PASSENGER SIDE . I WAS INJURED IN THIS ACCIDENT
MY 2020 HONDA CRV WAS ON A CITY STREET IN MOTION LESS THAN 50 MILES PER HOUR WHEN WE HEARD A VERY LOUD NOISE/ EXPLOSION. WE WERE NOT NEAR ANY OVERPASSES OR UNDERPASSES. NO OBJECT STRUCK THE VEHICLE. AT OUR DESTINATION, WE LOOKED OVER VEHICLE AND DISCOVERED THE SUNROOF/ MOONROOF HAD EXPLODED. THE TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE WAS AROUND 65 DEGREES TO 70 DEGREES. THIS VEHICLE HAD JUST CAME OUT OF THE GARAGE 10 MINUTES PRIOR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2020 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HIS WIFE WAS ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN FROM A STOP LIGHT, THE DRIVER'S AIR BAG FROM THE STEERING WHEEL SUDDENLY DEPLOYED RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF HER MAKING THE LEFT TURN. THE CONTACT'S WIFE WAS STUNNED AND IMPAIRED FROM SEEING AND THE VEHICLE COLLIDED WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE IN THE OPPOSITE LANE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES THAT REQUIRED BEING TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL WELL AND THE FRONT BUMPER WERE DAMAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED FROM THE CRASH SCENE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY GAVE THE CONTACT A CLAIM CASE NUMBER # 11744718 AND SAID THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO GO THROUGH AN INSURANCE COMPANY. THE CONTACT INQUIRED ABOUT A POSSIBLE BLACK BOX IN THE VEHICLE TO FIND OUT WHY THE AIR BAG DEPLOYED BUT THE MANUFACTURER STATED TO ASK THE INSURANCE COMPANY ABOUT THAT ISSUE. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,200.
APPROXIMATELY 80% OF THE FRONT WINDSCREEN IS COMPLETELY BLACK AND THE DRIVER CAN ONLY SEE THE ROAD AHEAD THROUGH THE LOWER 20% OF THE FIELD OF VIEW. THIS OCCURS AT NIGHT IN SITUATIONS WITH MINIMAL SURROUNDING LIGHTING (EG. NOT IN THE CITY). THE DISTANCE WHICH CAN BE SEEN IS LESS THAN 100 FT. THERE IS A STRAIGHT LINE WITH ABRUPT CHANGE FROM THE LOWER ILLUMINATED REGION TO THE UPPER COMPLETELY BLACK WINDSCREEN THROUGH WHICH HARDLY ANYTHING CAN BE VISUALIZED. I HAVE NEVER SEEN THIS COMPLETELY BLACK WINDSCREEN IN ANY OTHER VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THE HEADLIGHTS WERE AT FACTORY SPECIFICATIONS AND THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE THEY COULD DO. IT IS COMPLETELY UNSAFE TO DRIVE IN LOW LIGHT CONDITIONS WITH THE LOW BEAMS AND THE ILLUMINATED AREA BECOMES EVEN SMALLER ON INCLINES. VISIBILITY IS SLIGHTLY IMPROVED WITH HIGH BEAMS BUT THE UPPER 2/3RD TO 1/2 OF THE WINDSCREEN REMAINS DARKER. THE IIHS SAFETY TEST CONFIRMS MARGINAL ILLUMINATION ON HONDA CRV EX L MODEL WITH INADEQUATE LIGHTING ON CERTAIN TURNS, SO THE DEFICIENCY OF THE LOW BEAMS IS ALREADY DOCUMENTED HOWEVER TESTING APPARENTLY DID NOT OCCUR IN LOW LIGHT CONDITIONS BECAUSE THAT IS WHEN THE BLACK WINDSCREEN CONDITION OCCURS. THAT WOULD HAVE GIVEN THIS MODEL A POOR PERFORMANCE/FAILING GRADE. I HAVE FOUND OTHER SIMILAR COMPLAINTS WITH THIS PROBLEM ONLINE AND SO I AM SURPRISED THAT A FIX/RECALL HAS NOT BEEN ISSUED FOR THIS PROBLEM WITH THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2020 HONDA CR-V. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO EMIT A FUEL LIKE ODOR INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE ONLY OCCURRED WHILE THE VEHICLE SAT IDLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO URSE HONDA (772 BARNETTS RUN RD, BRIDGEPORT, WV 26330; (304) 842-5600) WHO STATED THEY WERE UNABLE TO RECREATE THE FAILURE AND THEREFORE WERE NOT ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE SAME DEALER THREE TIMES HOWEVER, THE INSPECTION RESULTS WERE THE SAME. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND SUGGESTED THE CONTACT GO TO ANOTHER DEALER FOR A SECOND OPINION. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,000.*DT*JB *JS
I PURCHASED A NEW 2020 HONDA CR-V'ECO IN FEBRUARY 2020. ON NOVEMBER 6 2020 I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED IT BECAUSE OF TIRE DISTURBANCE. THEIR DIAGNOSIS WAS THAT THE FRONT TIRES WERE WORN TO 4/32 AND REAR SWORN TO 6/32 AND TIRES WERE FEATHERED. TIRES ARE BRIDGESTONE ECOPIA FACTORY ORIGINALMTIRES WITH ONLYN16,481 MILES ON THEM . THE BRANDING INFO ON THE SIDE WALL STATES THESE AREV70,000 TREAD WEAR TIRES.DEALER ADVISED TO BUY 2 NEW TIRES TO REPLACE THE MOST WORN AND FEATHERED ONES AND DO NOTHING MORE : I BECAME AWARE THAT OEM TIRES ARE NOT WARRANTED BY THE TIRE COMPANY BECAUSE THE ARE BUILT TO SPECIAL SPECS FROM HONDA. ALSO ISN'T USING DIFFERENTLY WORN TIRES A SAFETY ISSUE ON AWD VEHICLES
THE CABIN OF MY CRV SMELLS NAUSEATINGLY LIKE GASOLINE CAUSING SEVERE HEADACHES. IT HAPPENS WHILE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING AT LOW AND HIGH SPEEDS, AND ALSO WHEN THE ENGINE IS NOT RUNNING. MY VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 4000 MILES ON IT. I THOUGHT THIS PROBLEM WAS FIXED IN THE 2020 MODELS.
CAR WAS ONLY TWO MONTHS OLD FROM THE SHOP AND HAD A SEVERE GAS LEAK FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HONDA CR-V 2020 DEALERSHIP TOLD ME IT WAS RODENTS THAT ATE THE FUEL PUMP AND THEN LENT ME THE EXACT SAME CARE HONDA CR-V 2020 AND AGAIN A WEEK LATER HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS WAS REVIEWED BY MY OWN MECHANIC AND SAID THAT THERE WAS WHOLE ON THE FUEL TANK. HONDA-CR-V LEAKS GAS WHEN TURNED ON. IT IS LEAKING LARGE AMOUNT OF GAS.
WE PURCHASED A 2020 HONDA CRV LESS THAN TWO MONTHS AGO. SINCE THEN WE HAVE FOUND OUT THAT ONE OF THE FEATURES OF THE KEY FOB IS THAT IF YOU PUSH THE UNLOCK BUTTON, THEN PUSH AND HOLD THE UNLOCK BUTTON, IT WILL ROLL DOWN ALL OF THE WINDOWS AND OPEN THE MOON ROOF. SO IF THIS HAPPENS ACCIDENTALLY WHILE THE KEYS ARE IN YOUR POCKET OR PUSRE YOU WILL GET UP THE NEXT MORNING WITH THE WINDOWS ROLLED DOWN. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO US MULTIPLEL TIMES ALREADY WITH NO WARNING OR ALERTS. THE DEALER SAYS THAT THIS FEATURE CAN NOT BE REPROGRAMMED. THIS MAY NOT BE A SAFETY ISSUE BUT IT IS DEFINITELY IS A SECURITY ISSUE IF YOUR SITS OUTSIDE IN A DRIVEWAY OR IN A PARKING LOT. OR IF HAPPENS WHEN IT IS RAINING IT WOULD MAKE A REAL MESS OF THE VEHICLE.
WHEN DRIVING ON A CITY STREET, THERE WAS A FLAT METAL PLATE ON THE STREET (A PLATE THAT IS COMMONLY FOUND WHEN A STREET IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION. SUDDENLY THE CAR CAME TO A VIOLENT, ABRUPT STOP BEFORE THE PLATE. THE CAR STOPPED SO SUDDENLY THAT THE WHOLE CAR SHOOK AS IF I WAS HIT BY 3 CARS. MY BODY JOLTED FORWARD AND MY GROCERIES FLEW OFF THE BACK SEAT. I WAS ON THE PHONE (HANDS FREE) AND THE PERSON I WAS SPEAKING WITH BECAME ALARMED SINCE THEY HEARD A LOUD, CONCERNING SOUND. I HAD TO SIT THERE FOR A FEW MINUTES IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET TO GET MY BEARINGS. IT WAS SO ALARMING THAT I COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT HAPPENED FOR A FEW MINUTES. I DID NOT APPLY THE BRAKES MYSELF, SO THIS MUST HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY THE HONDA COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM. THIS EXPERIENCE WAS SO JOLTING THAT IT STAYED WITH ME ALL NIGHT. THIS WAS VERY DANGEROUS. I'M LUCKY THERE WEREN'T CARS AROUND ME BECAUSE IT WOULD HAVE CAUSED A BAD ACCIDENT.
ALL 4 OF MY WINDOWS AND MY MOONROOF AUTOMATICALLY OPENED WHILE I WAS IN A STORE. IT WAS POURING DOWN RAIN AND ALL OF MY SEATS, CARPET, AND ENTIRE INSIDE OF MY 2030 HONDA CRV ARE COMPLETELY SOAKED. I LOCKED MY DOOR WHEN I PARKED IT AND EVERYTHING WAS CLOSED UP SINCE IT WAS STORMING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2020 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED SUDDEN DECELERATION WHILE DRIVING 75 DOWN TO 10 MPH. NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND AND THAT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM REMAINED FUNCTIONAL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT GENERATE ENOUGH POWER TO DRIVE ONTO THE FLATBED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WAS ABLE TO STEER TO THE LEFT BUT ALMOST WAS HIT AND WAS ABLE TO COAST ON THE GRASS AND WAITED A COUPLE OF HOURS UNTIL THE TOW TRUCK ARRIVED. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE ENGINE REMAINED RUNNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL UNKNOWN DEALER IN DELAWARE AND LATER WAS TOWED TO JOYCE KOONS HONDA (10640 AUTOMOTIVE DR, MANASSAS, VA 20109) WHERE THE DEALER WAS ABLE TO REPLICATE THE FAILURE BUT WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE A CAUSE FOR THE FAILURE. THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO RETRIEVE A FAULT CODE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEALER CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V865000 (STRUCTURE). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 950.
NAVIGATION HEAD UNIT SPONTANEOUSLY WENT ERRATIC DURING ROUTE NAVIGATION. DISPLAY FLASHING ON AND OFF, BRIGHTNESS CONTROL APPEARING AND DISAPPEARING. UNRESPONSIVE AND UNABLE TO REBOOT SYSTEM. DANGEROUS DISTRACTION FOR DRIVER BECAUSE OF SUDDEN NATURE OF SYSTEM FAILURE. STOPPING AND RESTARTING VEHICLE RETURNED NORMAL FUNCTION.
RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2020 HONDA CRV. I NOTICED THE BACK SEAT BELTS (LEFT AND CENTER) CRISSCROSS WHEN BUCKLED. I WENT BACK TO HONDA TO COMPLAIN AND SAW THAT ALL HONDA CRV'S HAD THIS CONFIGURATION. I LOOKED UP ON A HONDA COMPLAINT WEB SITE AND FOUND THE THREE SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. IT WAS ALSO A PROBLEM ON THE 2019 VEHICLES. IT APPEARS THAT WE ALL BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. IF YOU HAVE TO GET SOMEONE (POSSIBLY UNCONSCIOUS) OUT OF THE CAR THIS CONFIGURATION COULD PROVE TO BE A PROBLEM. HERE IS ONE EXAMPLE OF ANOTHER COMPLAINT: SEAT BELT PROBLEM #1 MY HUSBAND AND I WERE SITTING IN THE BACK SEAT OF OUR 2019 CR-V AND NOTICED THAT THE SEAT BELT INSERTS ON THE SEAT DIRECTLY BEHIND THE PASSENGER AND MIDDLE SEAT WERE IN THE WRONG POSITION. IN ORDER TO BUCKLE THE MIDDLE SEAT WE HAVE TO PULL DOWN THE STRAP FROM THE TOP AND CONNECT ONE BUCKLE DIRECTLY NEXT TO THE SEAT BELT INSERT FOR THE LEFT PASSENGER SEAT BELT. SO WHEN WE TRY BUCKLING BOTH THE MIDDLE SEAT AND THE REAR LEFT PASSENGER SEAT BELT THEY ARE TWISTED AROUND ONE ANOTHER, MAKING IT UNSAFE TO TRAVEL WITH THREE PASSENGERS IN THE BACK AT A TIME. WE HAVE GONE BACK TO HONDA IN ORDER TO GET THE ISSUE RESOLVED BUT WERE UNABLE TO DUE TO THE FACT THAT ALL OF THE 2019 CR-V MODELS WERE LIKE THAT. WE BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. WE OFTEN NEED TO TRAVEL WITH THREE PEOPLE IN THE BACK SEAT AND THIS IS TRULY AN INCONVENIENCE FOR US, ON TOP OF IT SIMPLY NOT BEING SAFE. WE DIDN'T THINK WE'D HAVE TO CHECK THE BACK SEAT SEATBELTS WHEN WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, WE'VE NEVER HAD AN ISSUE LIKE THIS IN ANY OF OUR PREVIOUS CARS.
THE CAR WAS PARKED IN A PRIVATE GARAGE. DURING THE NIGHT, A CRACK APPROXIMATELY 12 INCHES IN LENGTH SPONTANEOUSLY DEVELOPED IN THE FRONT WINDSHIELD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE CRACK APPEARS TO HAVE STARTED AT THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDHEILD. THE CAR WAS LESS THAN 1 WEEK OLD AT THIS POINT.
I BOUGHT THE CAR ON THE 22 OF MAY 2020.ON THE 17TH OF JULY 2020, I LOST ALL BRAKES, TPMS, LANE CONTROL, EMERGENCY BRAKING WARNING. I RETURNED THE CAR TO THE DEALER. THEY KEPT IF FOR 5 HOURS. THEY TOLD ME THE COMPUTER WAS UPDATED. ON MONDAY THE 19TH I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. I RETURNED TO THE DEALER ON TUESDAY THE 20TH OF JULY, I WENT BACK TO THE DEALER. THEY KEPT THE CAR AND GAVE ME A RENTAL TELLING THEY ORDERED THE PART FROM GHE MAINLAND(I AM IN HAWAII). THEY SAID IT WOULD TAKE 5 TO SIX DAYS TO GET THE PART AND FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A NEW CAR, WHAT'S GOING ON?
INSTRUMENT DISPLAY WENT DARK AND FAILED WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT. CAR STILL RAN AND WAS DRIVABLE, BUT I HAD NO IDEA ABOUT SPEED OR ENGINE STATUS. WHILE TAKING IT TO THE DEALER LATER THAT DAY, THE DISPLAY BECAME VISIBLE BUT ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON IN SEQUENCE REPEATEDLY. THE DEALERSHIP CONTACTED HONDA AND AFTER 2 DAYS IN THE SHOP DETERMINED IT WAS DUE TO AN INSTRUMENT DISPLAY CLUSTER FAILURE. I AM STILL AWAITING A FINAL RESOLUTION/REPAIR. NOTE THAT THE LIGHTS DID NOT FAIL DURING THIS EVENT, BUT IT STILL WAS VERY DISCONCERTING FOR NIGHT DRIVING. I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AT THE TIME OF THE EVENT AT ABOUT 30 MPH IN A STRAIGHT LINE. AC WAS ON BUT NO RADIO OR WIPERS. *TR
APPROXIMATELY 10-15% OF THE TIME, WHEN TRYING TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL BEFORE PRESSING THE 'START' BUTTON ON MY 2020 HONDA CR-V, THE BRAKE PEDAL CANNOT BE DEPRESSED. IT IS FIRMLY LOCKED/JAMMED IN PLACE. IN SOME INSTANCES, I CAN APPLY VERY FIRM PRESSURE ON THE PEDAL, JUST ENOUGH TO GET THE ENGINE TO START, BUT IN OTHER CASES, THE PEDAL CANNOT BE DEPRESSED AT ALL. WHEN THIS OCCURS, PRESSING THE 'START' BUTTON INITIATES THE ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS BUT DOES NOT START THE ENGINE. ONCE ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS ARE ON, THE PEDAL SOMETIMES REMAINS FIRMLY LOCKED, AND OTHER TIMES MAY SLIGHTLY SOFTEN TO THE POINT THAT I CAN PRESS THE START BUTTON AGAIN AND START THE ENGINE. DURING INSTANCES WHEN THE PEDAL REMAINS FIRMLY LOCKED, I MAY HAVE TO PRESS THE 'START' BUTTON SEVERAL TIMES, CYCLING ELECTRONICS ON AND OFF BEFORE THE PEDAL EVENTUALLY SOFTENS ENOUGH TO ALLOW THE ENGINE TO START. THE PEDAL ISSUE SEEMS RANDOM, REGARDLESS OF WARM OR COLD ENGINE, TERRAIN, WEATHER CONDITIONS, USE OF PARKING BRAKE, PRESSING THE PEDAL REPEATEDLY, ETC. BASED ON OTHER SIMILAR ONLINE REVIEWS, THERE IS GROWING CONCERN THAT THE PEDAL CAN LOCK WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, CAUSING A LOSS OF BRAKING CAPABILITY IN AFFECTED VEHICLES INCLUDING CR-V, PILOT, AND RIDGELINE. SPECULATIVE CAUSES MAY BE A BRAKE VACUUM/BOOSTER DEFECT. TWO LOCAL DEALERSHIPS CLAIMED THEY ARE UNFAMILIAR WITH THE PROBLEM AND A TECHNICIAN REVIEWING THE VEHICLE SAID EVERYTHING WAS WORKING FINE, SO THEY APPARENTLY HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED THE JAMMED BRAKE PEDAL IN PERSON. *TR
I PURCHASE A HONDA CR-V 2020 ON FEBRUARY 3 2020 TWO MONTH LATER I STARTED TO HEAR A CLICKING AND CLOCKING NOISE WHILE STEERING AND DRIVING ALONG ALSO ON BUMPS IT WAS TAKEN TO THE SHOP ON APRIL 22 2020 TO CURRY HONDA ON APRIL 23 2020 I RECEIVED A CALLED FROM CURRY THAT IT WAS THE FRONT SIDE AXLE THEY REPAIRED THE AXLE AND THE NOISE OCCURRED. CURRY HONDA CHECK SWAYBARLINK AND REMOVE THEM AND THE NOISE STILL OCCURRED THEN CURRY HONDA SAID IT WAS THE STRUCK ASSEMBLY AND THEY SAID THEY REINSTALLED THE STRUCK AND THE NOISE STILL HAPPENED CURRY HONDA THEN ADVISE ME THEY HAVE TO CONTACT TECH LINE TO SEE IF A ENGINEER CAN COME TO LOOK AT VEHICLE THE ENGINEER FOUND IT WAS A FAULTY TRANSMISSION MOUNT ON MAY 5 2020 I PICK UP MY HONDA CR-V STAYING THE VEHICLE WAS FIX ON MAY 9 2020 THE NOISE OCCURRED AGAIN I RETURNED THE VEHICLE AGAIN ON MAY 11 2020 [XXX] SERVICE MANAGER HAD MASTER TECH TEST DRIVE MY 2020 HONDA CR-V TO VERIFY THE NOISE THE TECHNICIAN DROVE AROUND THE PARKING LOT CAME BACK IN VERIFIED THE NOISE [XXX] SERVICE MANAGER SAID THEY NEED TO GET THE HONDA FILLED ENGINEER BACK TO CURRY TO LOOK AT MY VEHICLE SO ON MAY 14 2020 DROP MY CAR OFF FOR THE SAME NOISE CAR WAS THERE UNTIL MAY 20 2020 STATED IN WAS A FAULTY TRANSMISSION MOUNT THAT WAS REPLACED ON MAY 21 2020 I STARTED TO HEAR THE SAME NOISE SLIGHTLY WHEN STEERING AND HITTING BUMPS NOW I'M WAITING ON HONDA CORPORATION TO DO WITH THIS MATTER. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
THIS IS A 2020 HONDA CRV. THE PROBLEM IS AN INTERMITTENT ACCELERATION HESITATION. A DEFINITE SAFETY ISSUE.
SOON BEFORE DRIVING MY NEW VEHICLE, IN A PRELIMINARY INSPECTION, I FOUND EXTENSIVE RUSTING AROUND THE EXHAUST PIPES AND SYSTEM. THE MECHANIC FROM THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT WAS NORMAL. JUST BEFORE DRIVING, THE MILLAGE SCREEN READ AS 000019. THE DEALER TOLD US THIS IS 0.019 OF A MILE. SOON AFTER I DROVE MY CAR OUT OF THE DEALERSHIP, I EXPERIENCED 4 EPISODES OF CAR BECOMING UNSTABLE, FLIPPING FROM ONE SIDE OF ROAD TO THE OTHER. THIS OCCURRED OVER A 23 MILES OF DRIVING IN HIGH WAY. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP IMMEDIATELY. THEY DISMISSED IT AS NORMAL. AT ARRIVAL, AFTER DRIVING 23 MILES, THE MILEAGE SCREEN READ 42 MILES. THE DEALER THEN ADMITTED THE INITIAL READ WAS IN FACT 19 MILES NOT 0.019 MILE.
I AM EXPERIENCING THE ENGINE OIL DILUTION PROBLEM. I HAD THE OIL CHANGED AFTER LESS THAN 2000 MILES DRIVEN BECAUSE IT LOOKED LIKE SPENT OIL (DARK AND CLOUDY) AND SMELLED HEAVILY OF GASOLINE. TECHNICIANS AT HONDA ADVISED THAT I KEEP GETTING THE OIL CHANGED REGULARLY, BUT THAT THERE WAS NO FIX THAT THEY COULD MAKE TO THE OIL DILUTION PROBLEM.
WHILE PARKED AND LOCKED ALL FOUR WINDOWS ROLLED DOWN WITHOUT ANY ONE IN THE SUV
Component Failure Cascade Risk
Known patterns where one defect leads to more severe downstream failures
▸ Engine stalling at speed — fuel delivery failure can cause sudden loss of power in traffic or on highways
▸ Loss of brake assist and ABS in emergency — can significantly extend stopping distances
Complaint & Reliability Timeline
Annual complaints (blue) vs. composite reliability score (amber) — recall years marked in red
The blue line shows 324 total NHTSA complaints filed over 7 years, with the worst year being 2024 (66 complaints, including 2 crash reports).
The amber reliability line is declining — recent years score around 79/100, lower than earlier in the vehicle's life. This pattern indicates issues are accumulating over time rather than being resolved, which is a concern for used buyers.
The red dashed lines mark recall issuance — the first recall came 3 years after owners began filing complaints, a lag that indicates the manufacturer was slow to formally acknowledge these problems.
Red dots on the amber line flag 5 years (2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024) where complaints included crash events — these are the highest-severity incidents in the dataset.
Manufacturer Extended Warranties & Special Coverage
1 known program match this vehicle — verify current eligibility with dealer using your VIN
In cold climates, the 1.5L turbocharged engine allows gasoline to enter the engine oil during short trips, causing the oil level to rise above the maximum mark and reducing lubrication effectiveness. Honda issued a special warranty coverage program for vehicles primarily operated in Alaska, Colorado, Idaho, Iowa, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
Coverage eligibility depends on your VIN, original sale date, and current mileage. Always verify with an authorized dealer or manufacturer customer service — programs may have been updated since this database was compiled.
