UNKNOWN INCIDENT. I had a 2016 VW Tiguan with just over 80k miles (approximately 80,200 mi). On 1/6/2026 about 10 min after driving home from the gym, I heard a small explosion from the garage where my car was parked. The garage was filled with smoke and large flames were visible from under the front end of the vehicle. We called 911 and tried to put it out with a fire extinguisher but it continued to re-ignite. The fire burned down our entire garage with all its contents and made it's way into the home completely destroying our laundry room and adjoining bathroom. I had no previous issues with the vehicle, no warnings or check engine lights.

The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic who discovered that coolant was leaking into the engine and discovered various engine leaks. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 88,000. The VIN was invalid.

I’ll be driving for 2-10 minutes and power steering cuts out. Wheel will jerk a little and alarm will sound with the alert light remaining red through remainder of drive. Sometimes it will not work at all while driving, but I’ve found the it usually works for the first few minutes until I speed up a little more.

My car has never been in an accident. One day while turning into my driveway, I heard a large clicking sound. Since then, my airbag malfunction light is on and my car horn does not sound/work. All steering wheel controls are broken. This has been an issue for about 6 months. I've been waiting on a recall impacting my specific VIN/year/make/model, however I am being informed that I will need to pay out of pocket to have this major safety concern taken care of. I will be taking this car to the dealership this week in hopes to have a repair quote that I will have to save a significant amount of money over an extended period of time to complete.

This raises several serious concerns: •Carbon buildup this severe at such low mileage is not typical wear and tear. It indicates a design flaw in the TSI direct-injection engine. •My extended warranty provider refuses to cover the repair, citing that it is a maintenance issue—conveniently shifting the responsibility away from the manufacturer. •This type of engine failure can result in dangerous performance issues, including: •Sudden engine misfires •Loss of power while accelerating •Poor fuel economy •Stalling or hesitation while merging or turning •Catalytic converter damage •Potential long-term engine failure I am stunned that this is not considered a safety issue worthy of recall, especially given the number of reports online and in service centers regarding this exact problem. The symptoms of carbon buildup can easily result in on-road danger to the driver and others. What’s most disheartening is that Volkswagen has long been aware of this flaw, yet no recall or extended warranty has been offered for affected consumers. I previously owned a 2015 Passat and was a loyal VW owner—but now, as a single mother, I am expected to pay nearly $3,300 for a repair tied to poor engineering and design, not misuse or neglect.

My hood latch has failed. It sometimes appears latched, but actually is not and other times it doesn’t even look like it’s latched at all. There is in fact, a hood latch recall for this year make and model of vehicle, however, my vehicle is not on the list recalled. I believe the current recall for this year making model is not inclusive of all affected VIN numbers!!!!

During cold winter months in below freezing temperatures, a red warning light will turn on when the electronic steering fails and the electronic steering will randomly lock up while driving. Making it extremely difficult to steer and nearly impossible to use at a stop or slow speeds. When inspected, the entire steering rack with the steering electronic module needs replacing.

Electronic Power Steering fails and there is a loss of control with turning the wheel (left/right). This is a hazard especially on the road as it not only puts myself at risk but other drivers lives at risk. There is a red steering wheel that lights up on the dash which indicates loss of power steering. There have been multiple reports already of Electronic Power Steering Failure with Volkswagen vehicles. They have yet to issue a massive recall on anything which can turn potentially hazardous to peoples lives. The electronic power steering failure always seems to persist no matter if it’s too cold or too hot.

The vehicle was towed to another dealer, Royal Volkswagen, 3010 Columbiana Rd B, Vestavia Hills, AL 35216, where it was diagnosed that the water pump and fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.

My check engine light keeps turning on and off. I took it to the dealership and they gave me a list of things to fix in the future but nothing too serious. They fixed the intake manifold, which I was not aware or informed that it had a recall on it, and they cleaned the valves. They turned off the check engine light and when I picked up the car, it came back on. I informed them about it and they turned it off again. Then again it turned back on as soon as I left the dealership. They told me I had to change the oil and so I did but it turned on again. I tested it at auto zone and the reader said to change the camshaft position sensor and I did. The check engine light turned off and on again quickly. Then recently the steering wheel light turned on and locked the steering wheel.

The 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan has a problem with the sunroof leaking and floors being filled with puddles of water in entire car. This have caused the water to cause electrical problems with the vehicle as well as meadow and mold.

The car died while driving 3 times in 2 weeks. The gas pedal loses pressure, the vehicle is still on. I had to slow down put the car in park and restart the engine. This happened at speeds around 25-40 miles an hour, including on the freeway and when my [XXX] permitted daughter was driving. This problem has been taken to a WV dealership, they are not able to find the problem and are still looking. The way they are trying to discover the issue is by driving the car until it happens to them. Obviously a car stopping while driving is an insane danger to everyone on the road. I bought a 2016 VW Tiguan in 2019 from the Audi Rockville dealership. Recently I had an oil leak issue that requires a substantial repair. I first took it to a certified VW mechanic, Ourisman VW of Rockville, and they diagnosed the issue to be a 4,109.19 dollar repair. Following this, I took it to get a second look at an independent mechanic shop, Wilniq Auto Body & Mechanical Repairs, and the mechanic came to the conclusion that the engine head gasket needs to be replaced and that it should be covered under the manufacturers power train warranty. Unfortunately my car is out of warranty by just 241 miles (Warranty is up until 60,000 miles and my car is at 60,241). Based on what the mechanic saw while diagnosing the issue (The color and consistency of the leaked oil and where it was located), he alluded to this oil leak issue definitely starting prior to my car hitting 60,000 miles and that the other mechanics who worked on my car prior should have noticed this issue. They also mentioned that from what they can tell this issue has nothing to do with how I maintained the car but an issue with the car itself. I regularly maintained the car with all scheduled oil changes on time. The last three oil changes I had were at 51, 256 mi, 54,404 mi, and lastly at 58,075 mi (The recommendation is every 10,000 mi). When I brought all this up to a Volkswagen of America representative via chat they mentioned that because I brought the car to an independent shop the warranty would not be applicable anyway. My independent mechanic told me that this is not the case and in fact illegal. I bought this car in good faith with my hard earned money expecting it to be a durable and reliable product for years to come. Now I am getting hit with serious repairs at just over 60,000 miles and I do not trust that there won't be more in the future. Leaking panoramic sunroof only when it rains. I have taken it for the 5th time and you can’t drive it in the morning or when any condensation comes inside because u can’t see out of the windows at all. It smells awful and it’s a lot of water! It has ruined the touchscreen . I have been paying out of pocket trying to get this fixed. There should be a recall!

Airbag error light on dashboard, passenger seat shorted out water pooled under passenger seats front and rear soaking wet coming up through carpets with moldy smell. You tube says it may be the panoramic roof drains.

The electric connection for the air bag has malfunctioned . The same vehicle with different VIN numbers have already been recalled for the exact same reason. Not sure why my car was not included. Many people on the VW forums are having the same issues. Please recall.

Every time it rains it gets in my vehicle! I have taken it in to an auto shop and they can’t find the leak . I just noticed a smell and finally found that the floor board gets wet . Now I see mildew inside and I don’t know what to do…. I have an idea that it could be the panoramic sunroof, but I don’t know it only gets wet at the bottom of the car and depending on how bad it rains that’s how much water is inside and I think there should be a recall on this matter, it’s beyond ridiculous, and I have read so much about it and I think it’s the sunroof and the tubes shrunk. I don’t know how to fix that and I haven’t gotten any help from any other shop. They cannot tell me what it is and the only thing that is left is for me to have it ripped apart but if they have shrunk I can’t do anything about that. Also, I’ve heard this by so many different people that own the same kind of vehicle. Please.help!

Turbocharger went out on this vehicle rendering it unsafe to drive. Check engine light came on and after several opinions, it was determined that the Turbocharger went out and needed replacement in order for the vehicle to safely run. This was confirmed via a independent service center. Upon further research on the internet and VW chat forums, there are several other people with this year and model Volkswagen that have had similar issues with low mileage. The turbo charger should not have went out on a vehicle with 39,000 miles on it.

The sunroof/moonroof glass shattered while my daughter was driving on the highway, causing glass to fall down on her while driving. She stated that it sounded like a gunshot, then glass was breaking while driving. She was upset and crying, which could easily have caused an accident if it weren't that it happened in the evening. The car scheduled to be repaired I contacted the VW dealership and they stated there were no recalls. No warning

Steering Wheel Clock Spring has gone out on my VW Tiguan, driver air bag is on which means the airbag wont come if we get in a accident. Pressure light is on as well. This will be the 3rd Steering Wheel Clock Spring installed.

Oil consumption issue. “Normal” oil consumption is 1 quart per 1200 miles according to VW. My Tiguan with 70k miles is burning 3 quarts every 2,000 miles. No obvious oil leak or burning of oil. I’m told I need a new engine and this is a known issue for VW. Car no longer under warranty after 60k miles.

I had a coolant leak and needed to replace the water pump. My control arms were corroded out at 67k miles and needed to be replaced.

The clock spring part of the steering wheel has failed rendering all steering wheel controls and most importantly the air bag inoperable. This is a major safety hazard for the driver and ultimately passengers as well. This part has been a well known problem with this vehicle and has been covered under an extended warranty, yet Volkswagen refuses to make the part readily available to their customers who are under extended warranty coverage for said part. This is a major safety risk in that they are showing months long delays in getting parts forcing people to choose ability to get to work over safety. Volkswagen is wilfully exposing customers to undue safety compromises. Recall the car and make them fix this. And compensate owners.

Front portion of panoramic sunroof shattered-sounded like an explosion. Had the fabric sunscreen not been in place, vehicle occupants would have been severely cut by glass shards. The vehicle has not been inspected by dealer, repair facility, law enforcement or insurance. This happened in a rural part of Iowa and we chose to make it home (to beat incoming rain). There was no impact and no previous damage on this sunroof. Unit was in the closed position and no mechanical or physical defects visible. There were no warning lights and symptoms of the problem prior to failure.

The clockspring has failed, and all electronics in the steering column do not work, including the horn (as well as cruise control, radio volume, channel, etc). It is also believed the air bag(s) will not deploy in a crash. The clockspring failure has been verified by the local VW dealership. The part has not been available from VW for over 2 months(!), and now my vehicle's safety inspection has expired and the car is not legally drivable on public roads (in Virginia) (and VW will not provide or pay for alternative transportation). VW can not provide and ETA for when this critical safety part will be available.

The clockspring failed at under 62,000 miles. Air bag light came on, steering controls stopped working, and horn stopped working. Lots of other VWs have had clockspring issues--wondering why this is not included yet?

I have taken my 2016 VW Tiguan to a VW service center, and they have notified me of a faulty water pump in my car that is leaking coolant. This is endangering the engine of the car and its safety. There has been a class action lawsuit regarding this exact issue with VW in the case Zhao, et al. v. Volkswagen Group of America, Inc., et al., Civil Action No. 2:21-cv-11251. I have contacted the manufacturer VW several times regarding this issue, but they refuse to cover the costs of my repair as the mileage on my car is above their current warranty period. However, if this is a known issue with a faulty part, the manufacturer VW should be responsible for the costs of repairing the issue and maintaining the drivability of my car.

Clock spring in steering wheel failed and the airbag, horn and steering wheel controls no longer work on my daughter's Tiguan which is still under warranty. ( a very expensive extended warranty) Volkswagon is no longer manufacturing the part, so the only way to repair the car is to replace the whole steering wheel column which costs 5 times as much.(So they don't want to fix it that way) I was told they have multiple cars sitting on their lot since last year waiting for that part, but from what I heard from a mechanic/parts guy is VW is just simply no longer making that part and stringing their customers along saying it is "backordered". The warranty is not being honored. The car is sitting at the dealership collecting dust. They will not provide me with a loaner, or reimburse me for a rental car.

Issues related to the vehicles airbag light being on and no sound when horn is pushed, the dealer has stated is due to a bad clock spring. they said it could be replaced under warranty but they don’t know if they will ever receive a clock spring from VW. This vehicle is unsafe to drive without a horn.

The clock spring in my vehicle broke back in December of 2021. This was diagnosed by a Volkswagen dealership service department. It is now 5 1/2 months after the part was ordered and still no part. This makes the car undriveable. The air bag and horn do not work and the entire dash is unusable. It is a safety issue that has rendered my car undriveable for the past 5 months. We can’t get dealership to answer calls. We have found many others complaining of same thing being wrong with their Tiguan and have all been told the part is indefinitely delayed with thousands of people needing the part but none are being made. Volkswagen needs to do something to help people who purchased their product and can’t even use them. My daughter was driving the vehicle when she heard a crunch and her air bag light came on and the steering was affected. Thankfully she pulled over until someone could help her. We are still paying monthly for a car that is not driveable.

I had my clockspring replaced in March 2021 and it broke again January 2022 (less than a year and only 10k miles added) The part is nationally backordered, there has been a 7+ month wait time and no end in sight. The clockspring causes clicking in the steering wheel, the buttons and HORN do not function, and the airbag light goes on. VW just tells you it’s fine to drive even though this is a safety issue. I was not able to pass my inspection, it was over the 30 day extension so my registration was revoked! Corporate said there was nothing they can do so my car was just sitting in my driveway undrivable. I traded it in for a Honda after 4 months because this was stressful not having a car to drive. VW needs to be held responsible and this needs to go public.

I turned my steering wheel while pulling into a parking space and heard a crackling sound. My airbag light went off and the horn and controls on the steering wheel stopped working. I was told it was an issue with the clock spring when I took it into the shop. This happened almost 4 months ago and it cannot be repaired do to inability to obtain a new clock spring. I have found forums of other people complaining about the same issue. This is atrocious. My car is up for inspection this month and will therefore be undriveable until the issue is fixed. The clock spring has failed and confirmed by a local dealer, part number 5K0-953-569-AL. After talking with several dealers, I found out VW has a "hit list / back order list. This part is on it. I have also been told there are 1000 currently on back order and it may be 6 months before I receive a replacement. I have no horn and my air bag may or may not work. I have no way to warn a pedestrian or another vehicle should an issue arise, safety issue. No air bag could cause severe personal injury or death. Both are unacceptable and this part failure has been on going for more than 4 years. The sign of this failure is no horn, air bag light "ON" and no controls on the steering wheel function. I asked VW Customer Care twice what is VWs protocol for driving with a broken clock spring in writing, no response. I asked to speak with a manager, none got back to me. At the dealership I indicated I thought this was a safety issue as I have no horn. The service counter person said no one has ever brought this up in the 4 years they have been at the dealership. HUGE SAFTEY ISSUE which has been ongoing for years, no safety response on protocol, none, and no solution in sight, maybe months down the road. I do have copies of emails from VW Customer Care.

2016 Volkswagen Tiguan - CLOCK SPRING IS BROKEN & THE PART IS BACKORDERED "INDEFINITELY”. MY AIRBAGS, HORN, AND STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS NO LONGER WORK. VW WANTED TO CHARGE ME THE DIAGNOSTIC FEE ( A LITTLE OVER $100) TO PUT ME ON THE WAITING LIST FOR A REPLACEMENT PART. THEN TOLD ME I WAS OVER 3000TH ON THE "WAITING LIST". ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE & A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD. MY CAR IS BASICALLY WORTHLESS UNTIL THEY START REMANUFACTURING THE PART. NO TIMELINE GIVEN FOR THIS PROCESS. WILL VW COVER THIS? I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS IS BEING ALLOWED & APPARENTLY IGNORED. Check engine light came on early March 2022. Took it to VW to have checked out. Spent $465 on an intake valve hand cleaning, 4 new spark plugs, and a vehicle inspection. No more than a week later I started hearing clicking noises coming from the steering wheel when I turned. One turn caused a loud pop....after that pop, my airbag light dinged on. My airbags do not work (but can deploy at any time?? WHAT), my horn doesn't work, and neither do any steering controls. In sum: No replacement parts are available / Told I was over 3000th in line for when they start “remanufacturing” the part / Given no timeline of manufacture / Told there was nothing I can do. Took the car to a place that specializes in Audis & VWs. He scanned the car for free and repeated the same thing as VW but put me on two different waiting lists. He said that there are some clock springs available that are made in china and are crap/will not last. He mentioned they could put the “wrong part” in as a replacement for $700 and only the airbag would work, but I would still need to get the correct steering clock from VW put in whenever it’s available. I haven’t decided if I’m going to have that done yet….but in regards to the correct part, they will call when they have the part but that it would probably be 1.5- 2 YEARS. UNREAL. HOW IS THIS ALLOWED? WHAT DO I DO? WILL THE CAR EVEN PASS INSPECTION? CAN IT STILL BE INSURED? HELP!!!

Air back failure due to clockspring. No replacement parts available, VW North America is giving no ETA for when/if they can fix the vehicle. VW North America is offering no rental car or loaner car to deal with the issue. Airbag light has been on since October 2021. Dealership indicated the clockspring needs to be replaced. Was giving a 2-3 week window for replacement to arrive. I have felt unsafe operating my vehicle not know if my airbags would deloy if needed. Rental car was not offered nor provide upon request. Dealership has not ETA. In addition to the airbag, the horn is nonfunctioning which is a safety hazard as well.

My airbag light is on and all the controls on the steering wheel are not working. Per the dealer, the car needs a new "clock spring" but they are back-ordered and they have no idea when they will receive replacement parts. How can Volkswagen let people drive around with no airbags. The part needs to be replaced and Volkswagen should be able to supply the part so I can fix my car. I am not asking for a free part, I just want to purchase the part and repair my car.

Volkswagen dealer diagnosed my car with a failed clockspring in October of 2021, which results in a failed driver's airbag, no horn, and failed steering wheel control buttons. Volkswagen currently has this part on backorder with no ETA and there are 3000 customers without this part. I have no way of obtaining this part, and therefore have no airbag or horn which is extremely unsafe. Volkswagen refuses to provide alternative transportation or a rental vehicle for me saying that it is not covered under the warranty. In addition, the car would not pass inspection in several states, and I can't sell it because it is not safe. So I'm paying for a useless car.

My 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan has only 49,000 and the water pumps went bad already never heard of this I brought many cars and never had any problems with water pumps especially so soon. I couldn’t drive for days because water pumps are so expensive and my is more than 30 mile away which causes my car to over heat and the antifreeze was leaking so much I didn’t want to get stranded out there so I didn’t drive much until I was able to replace the water pumps. It’s to my knowledge Volkswagens had water pumps defects issues and I feel Volkswagen needs to recall 2016 models because water pumps should last for over 100,000 miles or more. I brought this car used in good condition with only 34,000 on the car and now water pumps goes bad. I hope someone looks into this matter because this parts are very expensive on consumers and Volkswagen needs to pick up the bill not consumers..Thanks for your time.

While driving on the freeway, the car came to a sudden stop in the fast line. I tried multiple things.....moving it in and out of gear, and flipping the parking brake switch off and on. After maybe a minutes, the brakes unlocked and I was able to move the car over to the shoulder. There was not warning, the car just stopped. I have just recently had the car inspected, 50,000 mile service. No issues were detected by the service group. The service dept at VW diagnosed the problem as being a short in the emergency parking brake. Thankfully we were not hit. Am very concerned someone else won't be as lucky.

The clock spring has broken. When the wheel turns, this results in a loud clicking from the steering wheel post. The airbag light is on, the horn does not work, and the electrical controls on the wheel do not either. This is a known issue on VW Tiguans. Earlier years have a recall while the 2016 is only covered by an extended warranty. Dealer confirmed the clock spring is the issue. This is the real problem: VWs response is unacceptable. There are no replacement clock springs available in the country. There is no time estimate for the delivery of the replacement part. According to the service center, they are not even in production. I have been waiting weeks for VW to fix a known issue - affecting the horn, airbag and electrical controls - and there is no estimate for when it will be fixed.

Parking Brake locks up and renders vehicle immobile- has occurred twice and parking switch has been replaced three times.

I own a 2016 VW Tiguan.I bought in mid 2018 w/30k miles.The clock spring,which controls the drivers airbag,horn & all steering controls has broken 3 times.It has broken once per year since I have had.This is obviously due to a faulty part that keeps being reinstalled.I see years ago that over 1.2 million people w/VW's were affected.This issue should have been fixed the FIRST time when I brought it in w/74,000 miles on 12/18/2019 or perhaps fixed the SECOND time I brought it in w/95,000 miles on 7/31/2020.Now, it is broken AGAIN, a THIRD time and now I'm told too bad, its over 120,000 miles & no longer covered,when I came to bring in on 11/3/2021 (contacted you originally on 9/30/21).No one ever informed me of there being an extended warranty that only lasts until 120,000 miles. I drive 2.5 hours to make my appt & when I email you to notify you that I am going to be 15 minutes late,only then do I get a call from the service rep when I am down the block from the dealership. He proceeds to tell me that he doesn't have the part for the clock spring.That they are using something "new".I said why couldn't you have told me this earlier?Then the rep says, why don't you take your vehicle somewhere closer?I explained that I live in a rural area & that I have always brought my car to this facility & that this is the 3rd time for the same issue.Only then did he ask me the mileage of my vehicle & then began to say VW no longer covers the part.Well, it should have been fixed properly the 2 previous times.The clock ring has broken every year I have had the vehicle.If VW is indeed using a "new" part as the rep stated, then there must be a reason why. This is a safety issue.Due to reinstallation of a faulty part the clock spring continually breaks each year.VW & the dealership are aware that the part is faulty & this is why VW created an extended warranty on just the clock spring.When I stated this to the VW rep he stated that they cannot do anything about bad parts.Shame on VW

2016 volkswagen tiguan 2.0 L combination timing chain and timing chain tensioner failure as diagnosed by the Volkswagen dealership. Caused the car to lose power immediately and misfire

The contact owns a 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 40 MPH, the sunroof exploded and shattered inside the vehicle. There were no injuries sustained from the falling glass. The local dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 112,000.

Unknown Water leaking from sunroof affecting the electrical components and now sunroof won’t open or close at all.

2016 Tiguan - 75k Miles. Steering wheel starting making clicking noises when taking sharper turns, a few days later, the airbag light came on along with an airbag "error" message. That same day, all buttons on the steering wheel stopped working, along with the horn. I took the car into the dealership and they IMMEDIATELY knew what was wrong. The clockspring. Quite frankly, this is absurd... If this is a known issue why isn't this a recall? I was told by the service representative that they see 2-3 CASES OF THIS A DAY... What the heck? Comeon.... This is a serious safety issue... Do something about it.

WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, DECREASING THE SET SPEED USING CRUISE CONTROL MULTIPLE TIMES IN SUCCESSION LED TO AN INCREASE IN THE SET SPEED.

WAS INVOLVED IN A COLLISION, REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 45MPH. THE ONLY INJURY SUSTAINED WAS A BROKEN HEEL BY THE DRIVER, ALL OTHER PARTY'S DID NOT RECEIVE MEDICAL TREATMENT AND ONLY COSMETIC DAMAGE TO THEIR VEHICLES. MOMENTS AFTER THE COLLISION, THE TIGUAN BURST INTO FLAMES. THE BRAKE PETAL HAD TRAPPED THE DRIVERS FOOT AND THE DOOR WAS JAMMED. FORTUNATELY THE OTHER PARTY WAS ABLE TO JERK THE DOOR UNTIL IT OPENED TO FREE THE DRIVER. THE TIGUAN WAS A TOTAL LOSS, BECOMING COMPLETELY ENGULFED IN FLAMES.

DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW WILL NOT ROLL DOWN WHEN THE TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE IS WARM OR HOT. ALSO WILL NOT WORK WHEN THE TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE IS COLD BUT THE HEAT INSIDE THE CAR IS BEING USED. IF IT STOPS WORKING WHEN THE WINDOW IS OPEN I CAN CLOSE IT BUT IT WILL NOT ROLL BACK DOWN.

MY VEHICLE EXPERIENCED AN INTAKE MANIFOLD FAILURE AND REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. THIS IS A WIDELY KNOWN AND DOCUMENTED ISSUE WITH OLDER VERSION VW INTAKE MANIFOLDS. THERE IS ALSO AN EXTENDED WARRANTY APPLIED TO VW INTAKE MANIFOLDS WHICH I HAVE ADDED AS A DOCUMENT BELOW. VW CLAIMS THAT MY INTAKE MANIFOLD IS NOT COVERED BY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH MY CAR HAS THE SAME CCTA ENGINE AND SAME INTAKE MANIFOLD AS THE ONES DESCRIBED IN THE NOTICE. NOTHING HIT IT, IT WAS NOT IN USE, NO ONE WAS IN FRONT OF ME. THE MOONROOF EXPLODED AND SHATTERED INTO A GAZILLION LITTLE GLASS PIECES SENDING SHARDS OF GLASS LITERALLY EVERYWHERE, INCLUDING EMBEDDED IN MY ARMS, NECK, BACK, HANDS, LEGS, AND FEET AND COVERING MY SCALP AND COVERING EVERY SURFACE AND CREVICE WITH TINY SHARDS OF GLASS. I WAS STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF SC WITH NO SUPPORT FROM VW, AND NEEDED TO PURCHASE A HOTEL FOR 2 NIGHTS STAY. THE CLAIM WAS DENIED WITH A GENERIC RESPONSE AND VW BLATANTLY IGNORED MY CONCERNS OF SAFTEY WHILE OPERATING THIS VEHICLE. APRIL 24TH THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START AGAIN AND IS CURRENTLY BEING LOOKED AT, AT THE VW DEALERSHIP. I CONTACTED THE VW CORPORATION OF AMERICA, INC. CASE MANAGER AGAIN AND AGREED TO OPEN A CLAIM OF RETRIBUTION ON THE VEHICLE AFTER THEY CONFIRM THE FAILURE TO START FOR THIS INSTANCE. MID-NOVEMBER 2019 I LEAVE HOME AROUND LUNCH TIME, BACK OUT OF GARAGE AND PULL UP TO TURN ON TO THE ROAD, THE BATTERY LIGHT COMES ON AND I CAN'T ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE. TRY JUMPING IT, STILL WON'T START. TOW IT TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO WORKS ON VW/AUDIS TURNS OUT IT IS A FUEL PUMP MODULE FAILURE. GETS REPLACED AND EVERYTHING SEEMS TO BE IN ORDER. END OF JANUARY 2020, TRY TO LEAVE FOR WORK, BATTERY AND EPC LIGHT COME ON. TRY TO JUMP THE BATTERY,NOTHING. GET THE BATTERY TESTED AND IT TESTED GOOD. TOWED IT TO VW DEALERSHIP, AGAIN, FUEL PUMP MODULE. THIS TIGUAN IS A CPO BUT THE FUEL PUMP MODULE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY DUE TO MAINTENANCE OUTSIDE OF VW DEALERSHIP. GET THE TIGUAN BACK, EVERYTHING SEEMS TO AGAIN BE IN ORDER BUT TOOK EXTRA PRECAUTIONS DRIVING AND THE LOCATIONS I DRIVE TO DUE TO LIVING IN ALASKA (AKA A VERY REMOTE PLACE) BECAUSE I DID NOT WANT TO BE STRANDED SOMEWHERE WITHOUT CELL SERVICE, WHICH OCCURS FREQUENTLY. NOT EVEN TWO WEEKS LATER, LEAVING WORK TO GO HOME AND AS I BACK OUT, THE VEHICLE BATTERY LIGHT AGAIN COMES ON AND I CAN'T MOVE THE VEHICLE. TRY JUMPING THE BATTERY, NOTHING. TOWED IT TO VW DEALERSHIP YET AGAIN (CLOSEST VW DEALERSHIP IS APPROX. 50 MILES, SO TOWING BECOMES PRICEY THIRD TIME AROUND) AND IS CURRENTLY BEING FIXED FOR THE FUEL PUMP WITHIN THE FUEL TANK WHICH IS APPARENTLY SEPARATE FROM THE FUEL PUMP MODULE. I AM NEARING A POTENTIAL $2,000 IN MAINTENANCE (TWO FUEL PUMPS AND LABOR + POTENTIAL MAINTENANCE AND LABOR FOR FUEL PUMP IN FUEL TANK IF NOT COVERED UNDER CPO WARRANTY). STEERING WHEEL BEGAN MAKING A CLICKING NOISE EVERY TIME I WOULD TURN THE WHEEL EITHER RIGHT OR LEFT. THEN THE VOLUME AND SKIP BUTTONS STOPPED WORKING ON THE STEERING WHEEL, LEFT SIDE ONLY, THE RIGHT SIDE CONTROL BUTTONS ARE WORKING JUST FINE. A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER, THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON THE DASHBOARD AND MY STEERING WHEEL IS STILL CLICKING WHEN I TURN THE WHEEL. DOESN'T MATTER IF I'M ON THE FREEWAY OR IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA, IT CLICKS NO MATTER WHAT AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT HAS NOT GONE OFF SINCE.

I PARKED MY VEHICLE IN THE YMCA PARKING . I TURNED OFF THE PUSH BUTTON KEYLESS ENTRY.I EXITED THE VEHICLE AND LOCKED THE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM AND ENTERED THE YMCA. I COMPLETED MY BUSINESS AND EXITED THE Y APPROXIMATELY 3 MINUTES LATER. MY VEHICLE HAD ROLLED LEFT STRIKING THE REAR CORNER OF A PARKED VEHICLE,THEN EXITED THE PARKING LOT AND STRIKING ANOTHER VEHICLE PARKED ON THE STREET. IF WE ASSUME I LEFT MY VEHICLE IN DRIVE POSITION,THERE IS NO ALARM,BELL,WHISTLE OR SAFETY SYSTEM IN PLACE ON A 2016 VOLKSWAGEN TIGUAN TO PREVENT DRIVERS FROM A SIMILAR ACCIDENT. VOLKSWAGEN HAS A RECALL ON 679,000 VEHICLES WITH WHAT APPEARS TO BE THE SAME PROBLEM. THE 2016 TIGUAN SHOULD BE ,BUT IS NOT ON THIS RECALL LIST. A PERSON FROM VW INFORMED ME THAT RECALL WAS FAIRLY NEW AND THE TIGUAN COULD END UP UNDER RECALL YET . SHOULD THEY WAIT UNTIL MORE TIGUANS HAVE ACCIDENTS? MY RESEARCH SHOWS THAT MANY MAKES AND MODEL VEHICLES HAVE LIGHTS OR ALARMS IN PLACE,INCLUDING SOME WHEN THE VEHICLE DOOR IS OPENED.

CAR DOES NOT GIVE WARNING IF THE CAR IS NOT IN PARK SO IT ROLLED DOWN MY DRIVE INTIO THE STREET. HIT NEIGHBORS FENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY PARKED IN MY DRIVE THE ENGINE WAS OFFF. I REMOVE ITEMS THE CAR AND IT WAS NOT MOVING WENT INSIDE TO GET MY DOG CAME OUT AND MY CAR WAS ACCROSS THE STREET AND HAD TO HIT A FENCE. ALSO THE CAR SLIDES ON WET PAVEMENT. L

TURNING WHEEL TO PARK HEARD CLICKING NOISE COMING FROM STEERING WHEEL AND THEN AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. ALSO DISCOVERED THAT CONTROLS ON STEERING WHEEL STOPPED FUNCTIONING INCLUDING HORN.

CLICKING NOISE FROM STEERING WHEEL WHILE TURNING. ERROR AIRBAG MESSAGE LATER APPEARED ALONG WITH AIRBAG NOTIFICATION LIGHT. FUNCTIONS IN STEERING WHEEL CEASE TO WORK INCLUDING THE HORN. NOTICED IN MOTION ON A NEIGHBORHOOD STREET.

THE CAR WAS SHUT DOWN BY KEYLESS IGNITION AND THE FOB WAS REMOVED WHEN I ENTERED A BUILDING. AFTER 15 MINUTES IT ROLLED AWAY AND HIT A SCULPTURE AND ROLLED OVER. I AS THE DRIVER FAILED TO PLACE THE TRANSMISSION IN PARK OR SOMEONE TAMPERED WITH THE CAR AS SOMEONE WAS SPOTTED IN THE CAR AFTER IT FLIPPED OVER. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT WHEN THE CAR IS SHUT DOWN I BELIEVE IT SHOULD HAVE IMMOBILIZED REGARDLESS OF THE SHIFTER AS I SHUT OFF THE ENGINE EXITED THE VEHICLE. KEYLESS IGNITION SAFETY IN RELATION TO ROLLAWAYS IN THIS MODEL IS NOT SUFFICIENT.

'TAKATA RECALL' GAS FUEL GAGE WAS ON E WHEN I HAD JUST FUEL MY CAR THAT SAME DAY. NO RED LIGHT POPED UP. EVERY TIME I TURN ON THE CAR GAS FUEL GAGE WOULD BE ON A DIFFERENT POSITION. COUPLE DAYS AFTER IT WAS BACK TO NORMAL

MY VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND TURNING ONTO THE STREET WHEN THE STEERING FAILED COMPLETELY AND I WAS UNABLE TO DIRECT MY CAR. TO AVOID BLOCKING TRAFFIC I HAD TO PULL INTO MY NEIGHBORS FRONT YARD. THE CAR WAS IN MOTION AND AROUND OTHER CARS WHEN I LOST CONTROL. THIS IS THE SECOND INCIDENT WITH THIS VEHICLE.

MY VOLKSWAGEN TIGUAN 2016 WITH 28,00 MILES DRIVER'S SEAT IS PEELING/CRACKING. IT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY.VOLKSWAGEN WILL NOT PAY FOR ITS REPAIR. I PAID $3000 EXTRA FOR EXTENDED WARRANTY VIA THE DEALER OURISMAN OF BETHESDA-THEY INFORMED ME THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WILL NOT COVER IT. VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED FOR SEVERAL DAYS. UPON PULLING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE, HEARD A SNAPPING NOISE FROM THE STEERING WHEEL. IMMEDIATELY RECEIVED AN AIRBAG ERROR WARNING, HORN CEASED TO FUNCTION, AND ALL STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS STOPPED WORKING.

CODE P2015 PROBLEM IN INTAKE MANIFOLD. REQUIRES REPLACEMENT OF THE INTAKE MANIFOLD. VOLKSWAGEN HAS EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR PREVIOUS YEAR MODELS WITH THIS EXACT PROBLEM AND ARE REFUSING TO EXTEND THE WARRANTY FOR THE 2016 TIGUAN.

WHILE IN THE MIDDLE A A 5 WAY BOSTON INTERSECTION MY POWER STEERING FAILED WITHOUT WARNING AND I WAS UNABLE TO DIRECT MY CAR IN BUSY TRAFFIC. I WAS ABLE TO REMAIN CALM AND TURN ON HAZARD LIGHTS TO GET MYSELF OUT OF HARMS WAY, BUT WAS EXTREMELY LUCKY. THE STEERING LIGHT CAME ON IMMEDIATE, BUT THERE WERE NO NOISES, NO PREVIOUS ISSUES, AND NO WAY OTHER THAN LUCK FOR ME TO PREVENT A SERIOUS ACCIDENT.

I BOUGHT MY CAR JULY 6TH, 2018, GOT THE OIL CHANGED IN AUGUST 2018, AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE UNTIL OCTOBER 1,2018 WHEN THE EPC LIGHT CAME ON AND ABOUT 1MINUTE LATER THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS TURNING ONTO MY STREET IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD WHEN IT HAPPENED AND IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE AUTO SHOP WHERE I'D RECENTLY GOTTEN MY OIL CHANGED. THEY TOLD ME TO BRING IT THE NEXT DAY BUT I LOOKED IN THE USERS MANUAL AND IT SAID TO DRIVE TO MY NEAREST DEALERSHIP. SO I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID TO BRING IT AT 8:15 ON OCTOBER 3RD. I TOOK IT AND DROPPED IT OFF. I CALLED BEFORE THEY CLOSED TO GET AN UPDATE ON THE DIAGNOSIS AND THEY TOLD ME THEY SUGGESTED A 100K MAINTENANCE SERVICE AND NEW BATTERY. THEY SAID THE BATTERY CAUSED THE SLOW START AND THEY CHECKED THE CODES AND IT SAID FAULT IN TIMING CORRELATION' WHICH WAS CAUSED BY LOW OIL PRESSURE AND THEY DIDN'T SEE OIL ON THE DIPSTICK. SO, I ASKED IF THE SUGGESTED MAINTENANCE WOULD FIX THE ISSUES AND IF THAT'S WHY THE SERVICE LIGHTS CAME ON AND SHE TOLD ME YES! I THEN WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO GET FINAL CLARIFICATION OF WHAT WAS GOING ON AND SHE TOLD ME AFTER THE MAINTENANCE EVERYTHING WAS FINE AND HE JUST NEEDED TO TEST DRIVE IT AND I COULD COME BACK IN AN HOUR. SO SHE CALLED AFTER AN HOUR AND SAID THEY FINISHED AND I COULD GET MY CAR. I PAID THEM AND SHE TOLD ME THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS AND I WOULD PROBABLY NEED REAR TIRES AND BRAKES AND AN OIL CHANGE AND THE 110K MILE SERVICE IN A YEAR OR 10K MILES- WHICHEVER COMES FIRST. I GOT IN THE CAR AND BEFORE I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP THE EPC LIGHT CAME ON. I GOT OUT, WENT BACK INSIDE AND TOLD HER AND SHE TOLD ME THEY NEEDED TO PULL IT BACK AROUND AND I LEFT WITH MY MOM AND SHE CALLED HOURS LATER AND SAID I NEEDED A TIMING CHAIN AND TENSIONER. I ASKED WHY THEY DIDN'T SEE THAT BEFORE AND SHE SAID THEY HADN'T LOOKED AT IT CLOSELY ENOUGH. THEN SAID SHE'LL CALL BACK TOMORROW

MY VEHICLE HAD A FAULTY CLOCK SPRING IN THE STEERING COLUMN. THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM FOR VW SINCE 2011 AND THEY ARE NOT COVERING IT UNDER WARRANTY. IT HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING. THE STEERING COLUMN MADE A CRACKING NOISE THEN STARTED MAKING A GRINDING NOISE. AT THAT POINT THE STEERING BUTTON CONTROLS STOPPED WORKING AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON.

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON FOR NO APPARENT REASON. HAD TAKEN MY CAR FOR A BATTERY RECALL ISSUE AND WAS TOLD BY VW SERVICE PROVIDER THAT THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE PROBLEM. NEXT DAY CHECK ENGINE SIGN POPPED UP. I HAVE NEVER DRIVEN A WORSE CAR IN MY ENTIRE 20 YEARS.

USED ONLY -20F WINDSHIELD WASHER FLUID BUT FLUID STILL FROZE IN RESERVOIR EVEN THOUGH OUTSIDE TEMPERATURES DID NOT FALL BELOW 0 DEGREES F. DEALER INFORMED ME THAT THIS IS HAPPENING WITH NEWER VEHICLES HE THOUGHT DUE TO THINNER PLASTIC USED FOR RESERVOIR OR LACK OF RESERVOIR INSULATION. THIS BECOMES A NHTS ISSUE WHEN YOU'RE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT SPEED AND THE MIST FROM TRUCK TIRES HITS YOUR WINDSHIELD, YOU TRY TO USE YOUR WIPERS/FLUID TO WASH THE MUCK OFF BUT NO FLUID WILL SPRAY AND THE MUCK IS JUST SMEARED ACROSS YOUR WINDSHIELD MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE ANYTHING AND COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.

WHEN PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY, I HEARD A TEARING SOUND COMING FROM MY STEERING WHEEL. FOLLOWING THE NOISE, MY AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. THE AIRBAG IS DEACTIVATED PER THE OWNERS MANUAL AND WILL NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY IN AN ACCIDENT. I REALIZED LATER ON IN MY DRIVE THAT THE CONTROLS ON THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE HORN ALSO DO NOT WORK. IT IS QUITE DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AS ANOTHER DRIVER THAT DAY SWERVED INTO MY LANE WITHOUT CHECKING AND I HAD NO METHOD OF ALERTING THE DRIVER BECAUSE MY HORN DOESNT WORK NOR DO I HAVE THE PROTECTION OF AN AIRBAG. I GOT MY CAR DIAGNOSED WITH VW AND THEY CONFIRMED THAT THE CLOCK SPRING HAS MALFUNCTIONED AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE THAT CAUSED VW TO RECALL HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF VEHICLES UP TO I BELIEVE THE 2012 MODEL YEAR. THIS RECALL WAS SUBSEQUENTLY INVESTIGATED BY THE NHTSA UP TO I BELIEVE MODEL YEAR 2014 BUT I DO NOT KNOW THE RESULTS OF THAT INVESTIGATION, CLEARLY VW HAS NOT ADDRESSED THIS PREVAILING ISSUE OR PROPERLY ENCOMPASSED ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES AS MY MODEL IS 2016 AND IT IS STILL HAPPENING.

THE EMERGENCY FLASHERS OR HAZARD LIGHTS ARE INOPERATIVE. ALSO WIPERS TURN ON BY ITSELF OCASSIONALY.

WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY DURING RUSH HOUR THE SUNROOF SPONTANESOUSLY SHATTERED. THE SUNROOF WAS CLOSED AND THE CLOTH SHIELD WAS TUCKED AWAY. IT SOUNDED LIKE A GUNSHOT AND DEAFENED MY EARS FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES. I THOUGHT SOMEONE FIRED A GUN OR A NEARBY CAR GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT SINCE I FELT NO IMPACT OTHER THAN SOUND. BECAUSE I WAS DRIVING I WAS EXTREMELY STARTLED WHEN I LOOKED UP AND SAW AN OPEN WINDOW AND GLASS HAD FALLEN ALL OVER ME. IT HAD HAPPENED SO QUICKLY. I TRIED TO PULL OVER IN THE NEAREST EXIT AND WHILE GETTING OUT OF THE CAR AND MANEUVERING OUT, HAD CUT MYSELF SEVERAL TIMES.

SIDE WALL BUBBLING ON THE CONTINENTAL TIRES TWICE. TIRES HAD TO BE REPLACED TWICE. I BARELY SCRAPED A CURB AND THE TIRE HAD A HUGE BUBBLE ON THE SIDE WALL THAT GREW EACH DAY. THE TIRES ARE DEFECTIVE A SMALL I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH TIRES ON ANY CAR EVER.

AFTER GETTING IN TO THE DRIVERS SEAT ON 11/24/2016 I SHUT THE DOOR AND THE WINDOW SHATTERED ONTO ME.THERE WAS PREVIOUSLY NOTHING WRONG WITH THE WINDOW. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY AND WAS PARKED ON A CITY STREET. I DO NOT HAVE AN INVOICE YET BECAUSE I DROPPED OFF MY CAR TODAY TO THE DEALERSHIP.

REAR DOOR THE REAR DOOR (LEFT) HAS A DEFECT. SINCE NEW IT HASN'T BEEN FIXED PROPERLY. LAST WEEK IT OPENED BY ITSELF WHILE RIDING OVER 45 MPH. WHEN IT HAPPENED THE DOOR INDICATOR WASN'T ON. NO INDICATION TO ME. EXCEPT FOR MY DAUGHTER SCREAMINGS. MY DAUGHTER WAS SITTING NEXT TO THE DEFECTIVE DOOR WHEN IT HAPPENED. IT WAS SERVICED AT THE DELEARSHIP FOR THAT DOOR BUT IT STAYED THE SAME. IT DOESN'T CLOSE COMPLETELY.

SAFETY ISSUE! LEASED THE VEHICLE IN JANUARY. TWO INCIDENTS WHEN ALL VEHICLE LIGHTS TURN OFF WHILE DRIVING IN THE DARK. HAPPENS WHEN IN MOTION AND WHEN IT IS DARK OR FOGGY OUT. HAVE BROUGHT IN TO VOLKSWAGEN DEALER 2 TIMES FOR REPAIR AND HAPPENED AGAIN FOR THE THIRD TIME WHILE DRIVING IN THE DARK. WHEN THIS OCCURS THE WIPERS ALSO GO OFF AUTOMATICALLY YET IT IS NOT RAINING. THEN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PARKED, THE HEADLIGHTS STAY ON AND WILL NOT TURN OFF AND KILLS THE BATTERY.

BROUGHT 2016 TIGUAN LESS THAN 10 MONTHS, NOTICED SCRAPING NOISES WHEN BREAKING AT LOCAL SPEED. ALSO HEAR CLANKING NOISE OCCASIONALLY FROM BOTTOM OF THE VEHICLE. SENT CAR TO VOLKSWAGEN SERVICE CENTER AND FOUND THE REAR ROTORS PITTED AND RUSTED. SERVICE CENTER JUST CLEAN THE SURFACE AND SUGGEST TO REPLACEMENT WHEN NOISE RETURN. CALL VOLKSWAGEN CUSTOMER SERVICE OPEN A CASE. ACCORDING TO THE CUSTOMER SERVICE MY CAR HAS LOW MILEAGES, CAUSE RUST DEVELOPED AND SUGGESTED TO DRIVE MY CAR AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK. THIS IS AN UNACCEPTABLE REASON BECAUSE I USE MY CAR AVERAGE 2 DAYS A WEEK. WHEN SENT IN FOR SERVICE, MY CARS HAD 3943 MILES WITH DRIVING WITH LESS THAN 10 MONTHS. ON AVERAGE DRIVE ABOUT 394 PER MONTH AND ~100 PER WEEK. I STRONGLY QUESTION ON WHAT KIND OF MATERIAL VOLKSWAGEN USE CAUSING THE PAD AND ROTORS RUST EASILY. PLUS VOLKSWAGEN STATED ROTORS AND PADS ARE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, REPLACEMENT IS UNDER OWNER EXPENSE.

I HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE SEATBELT REPLACED TWICE IN THE LAST MONTH ON MY NEW VW TIGUAN. THE FEMALE CONNECTOR THAT THE TONGUE OF THE BELT FITS INTO HAS BROKEN APART TWICE, REQUIRING AN ENTIRE REPLACEMENT OF THE BELT. THIS WORK WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE FIRST TIME IT BROKE WHEN THE LOOP OF MY POCKET BOOK CAUGHT ON IT. THE SECOND TIME IT BROKE, ALL I DID WAS MOVE THE DRIVER'S SEAT BACK IN ORDER TO GET OUT.
