Brake line failure. Front section of the line that feeds the rear wheels leaked while traveling. Warning light came on. Purchased brake fluid and drove to local service provider. The rear section left to right above subframe was found to be rotted, but not leaking yet. Local service provider replaced front and rear brake lines.

While it was being serviced they asked me if I wanted to replace brake lines for $1200 since they had this part out job would be easy. So this means Mercedes is well aware of the deterioration of these line the man at mb said the metal was inferior and this is result. On YouTube it was stated that individuals took mb to court or accountability for this but results were negative. Yet problem exists. If you breaks fail while driving it is very dangerous. Also I believe there is a recall for gas lines for my model 2014 manufactured from June and July. The brake lines on my vehicle are rusting as is gas tank. This also is dangerous condition should accidents occur the lines because compromised with rust can much easily rupture causing fuels to spew out causing possible explosive condition. Fuel smell in the rear of the car, it was checked by a indepent mechanic and the tank is leaking fuel. They said is the Fuel filter which is usually faulty in this model. It seems the car can catch fire according to the mechanig. No warnings of the leaking in the dashboard, only the strong smell.

Mercedes-Benz has always held a status. A great looking car. A great engineered car. And while this is a great looking car, it has a serious engineering flaw. I've had the car for 3 years and its all stock. It has 38,500 miles and today out of no where the driver side speaker in the door started making a crackling and popping noise. Car unexpectedly swerves while driving!!

Rear brake lines have rusted out causing a safety concern. Mercedes will not extend the warranty to repair the recognized inferior parts as they did for the rear subframe. The rusty rear brake lines are related to the rusted subframe which was repaired under extended warranty by Mercedes at no cost. The same should apply to the rear brake lines. I am currently having the rear brake lines replaced due to this rust and safety issue. Please require Mercedes to extend the warranty and related repair to the rear brake lines as it is systemic to these cars.

While driving in stop and go traffic I heard a loud popping noise from the dash area and smoke started filling the cabin. I called a DC area dealer service dept and was told to exit the DC beltway and un plug the audio amplifier in the trunk left access door That stopped the popping noise and the smoke .

The emergency brake often gets stuck, especially on cold days. I have to repeatedly push and release it or manually adjust it by pushing behind the brake to return it to the release position. This problem starts on 28000 Mile on this car

The heater temperature is not consistent and keeps fluctuating. When I set the temperature to 80°F, it initially blows hot air, but after about 10 seconds, it starts blowing colder air. To get consistently hot air, I have to set the temperature to the maximum.

Dealer reports that, in addition to the dangerous corrosion on rear subframe covered by the extended warranty program, the rear brake lines are dangerously corroded and may fail at any time. I inquired about how this is even possible as I am accustomed to vehicles with cupronickel brake lines that do not corrode. I was told they are merely enameled steel on this model and prone to premature corrosion where they are mounted to the chassis with plastic clips that wear off the enamel and allow premature corrosion and eventually catastrophic failure. I was also told the replacement parts are now cupronickel, indicating Mercedes understands the original design was defective. I believe this should have been covered under the same program as the rear subframe, not be used as an upsell tool to customers affected by that issue. I also believe steel brake lines should just be banned outright for all vehicles, the risk of rupture due to corrosion leading to brake failure is far too high.

10/14/21 Was cautioned that the rear brake lines and caliper hoses were very corroded. Mileage 43,185 10/19/22 Cautioned about rear brake lines. Mileage 48,459 12/11/23 Rear brake lines replacement cost $4497. Repair not done at that time. Mileage 53,375. Again cautioned. 10/30/24 service date- Was informed that the rear subframe was corroded and would be replaced by Mercedes-Benz. I have photos from the dealer. There are holes in the rear subframe.The brake lines could be replaced at the same time at a cost of $2820 due to the fact it is in same area. Mileage 58,597 I asked M-B Customer Service to cover the rear brake lines as the under coating was not sufficient to protect the rear subframe and brake lines. They rejected my claim. I was told others have also tried to get M-B to cover this cost and were rejected. My vehicle has very few miles for its age. I have never had to replace rear brake lines in the 40 years I have owned a Mercedes Benz vehicle. I believe that they have not adequately protected the undercarriage from weather. The rear subframe is my evidence. At some point these brake lines could fail. They will be replaced. I want the manufacturer to cover the cost of the brake lines when the rear subframe is replaced. Please advise.

As I went to have my vehicle inspected, the mechanic advised me that it could not be inspected, that the car is totaled because the rear subframe is all rotted and the brackets holding the trailing arms were broke off and said that this was a common problem with these vehicles.

Brake lines are rusted and corroded. It appears that the rust may have spread from rust on the rear subframe. The rear subframe warranty was extended for premature rust and failure, but the brake lines are not covered. This could have led to a dangerous situation. I've never had a vehicles brake lines rust like this. They should also extend the warranty coverage to cover rusted brake lines.

I have a 2014 E350 Coupe. It has a major fuel leak that is immensely dangerous and could cause immediate harm/death if I did not remove the seat and inspect the fuel line. There is a recall on the 4 door model for reference. 15V-792 / 2015110006 Recall Summary A fitting that joins the fuel hose and fuel feed line may develop a leak or completely disconnect. This can cause a fire hazard, fuel odor and potentially stall the engine while operating the vehicle. The fuel line fitting connecting the fuel hose and fuel feed line may be flared improperly, causing a possible leak or disconnection of the fuel line. Dealers will install the correct fuel line free of charge to resolve the concern. Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC. (MBUSA) is recalling certain model year 2014 E350 and E350 4Matic sedans manufactured June 4, 2014, to July 9, 2014. The affected vehicles were built with a fuel feed line that has a single flare fitting instead of a double flare fitting.

Brake pedal became "spongy" and then total brake failure with dashboard warnings to check brake fluid. Caused by corroded brake lines that failed and allowed all brake fluid to be lost in the system. Extremely dangerous as no braking was available.

Rear subframe snapped under hard braking on the highway and caused my to veer into leftmost lane. It was terrifying and a severe hazard on the highway. Had vehicle towed to my house. I lifted and inspected my car and found the rear subframe was rusted and a crack straight through. The rear brake lines were also severely corroded and are very close to failing. Front brake lines have no corrosion. It seems that the rear subframe and rear brake lines have the same anti rust coating which are clearly not sufficient.

Fuel Leakage from the top of the Fuel Tank, leaking underneath the back seat. I'm told there was a past campaign to fix these issues in the Sedan Mercedes Benz E350. took car in for an oil change. Have been hearing some noises in the rear. Mechanic just called telling us the rear sub frame rusted out. We have had the car 6 years. It has never been in a flood. we live in new jersey, no where near the shore.

Engine camshaft position sensors are leaking oil which has "wicked" into the engine wiring harness and ECU. This is a common safety issue on this year and I would like to urge Mercedes to issue a recall as oil contamination within the electrical system can lead to a host of other safety concerns.

I received a letter from Mercedes stating there was concern over 2010 to 2014 (est) that should be checked after 10 years. I can not find that letter. I have a 2014 EClass 350 model. Can you please tell me what is was? Thanks

Rear subframe rusted was covered under an extended warranty (after a lawsuit), but the rear brake lines are also very rusted and not covered by warranty. Rear springs also broken (rusted) and bolts seized.

Brake pedal went to floor and brake function became significantly impaired and dangerous. Took car to local shop who diagnosed as failed rear brake lines, and most of the entire length of the rear lines were in very bad condition. Car only has 104k on it. It doesn't take much searching on the internet to see how widespread of a problem this is, and even the dealer admits they do multiple of these per week on the W212 (and a few other platforms are affected). The front lines seem to be in good shape so there does seem to be a design issue here.

All of a sudden my brake error lights went on while driving to work. By the time I could stop at a garage on the way my brake fluid was very low and more was added. Had to again add more when I got home just so I could take the car to my repair shop. Independent repair specializing in mercedes identified 4 leaks in rear brake lines. Pictures show that all leaks are at or adjacent to clips attaching to the car. Something is wrong with the design or materials for this to happen consistently in the same car. Mechanic said this isn't expected until cars get at least 100k and shouldn't be consistently in the same connections. The fluid was draining so fast that if someone were driving a longer distance they may not have the ability to refill before brake failure. This is a safety hazard to have so many material failures at the same area of the brake lines.

Suspension Rear Sub-frame rusted through, rear Lower control arm disconnected from rear sub-frame due to rust/corrosion. It is available for inspection. While braking at highway speeds the car fishtailed and I almost lost control of the vehicle. This has not been confirmed or inspected by any service, Insurance or Police entity. No warning lights, messages etc. Brakes: Rear brake lines are severely corroded in the same area as the rear sub-frame. Electrical System: Battery continuously discharges and is dead after 5 hours.

I called Mercedes-Benz USA and they reported that they were not aware of this problem. This event was very alarming and could have caused an accident when the smoke was coming into the passenger compartment. I believe it qualifies for a recall.

I am losing brake fluid. Likely from rotted brake lines. Was given a quote attached below for repair of rotten brake lines 2 years ago. Both driver and front passenger headrest airbags have deployed for no cause. This is is the second time this has occurred on both sides. No collision occurred in both incidents. First time it occurred under warranty and Mercedes fixed the issue. This time it occurred again and the car is not in warranty. Without functional headrest airbags the safety is greatly compromised for the occupants of the car and can lead to fatal incidents. It seems like a recurring problem with this model as it has occurred twice over 9+ years and both times there was no collision etc.

Brake line failure , i have a 2014 E350 that the rear brake lines failed , all rusted and corroded , mercedes should extend the warranty on brake lines as they did with the subframe , this is a major safty concern , when you buy a mercedes you expect you are buying a top of the line car not all plastic .

My 2014 Mercedes started getting a fault light with multiple performance issues. Mercedes dealer where I can carry out my routine maintenance diagnosed the issue to the electrical harness being contaminated with engine oil and it needed to be replaced on the engine because of a known issue whereby oil from the upper camshaft sensors seep into the harness and makes its way to ECU and causes possible failure of the engine control, which could lead to shutting down or worse, incorrect engine timing which would lead to incorrect detonation at the compressors and subsequently engine failure at critical operational phase. Rear brake lines are rusting out prematurely caused by a defective rear sub frame

My vehicle is having the same issue as follows in quotes from a Mercedes recall Campaign No.2017020018 (attached) : Replace Steering Column Module. Here is the description of the problem from that Mercedes recall "This Recall Campaign has been initiated because Daimler AG (‘DAG’), the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has determined that on certain E-Class vehicles (213 platform) the column-mounted shift lever module might become inoperative due to possible damage to the internal circuit board. As a result, the vehicle might not move forward or rearward with the shift lever as selected by the driver. However, both the auto-P function and automatic parking brake will continue to operate as intended and prevent the vehicle from moving forward or rearward. If the vehicle does not move forward or rearward with the shift lever as selected by the driver, there is an increased risk of a crash" In my own words, on an intermittent basis, I could be in reverse, move the steering column shifter to drive, but the vehicle remains in reverse. Or, I could be in drive, put the steering column shifter in reverse, but the vehicle remains in drive. This problem is intermittent. It could happen many times in one day, and then not happen again for many weeks.

I’m getting a pre-safe inoperative message on my dashboard all the time, the Mercedes dealership is telling me the driver side seat belt needs to be replaced. This is a safety issue. This vehicle has 40,000 miles on it and it’s a family car that was extremely expensive this is unacceptable, Mercedes should pay for the seat belt replacement.

RE: VIN# [XXX] I am the owner of the above referenced vehicle, a 2014 E350 4matic sedan, showing 98,000 miles on the odometer. On Friday [XXX] I was alerted by Mercedes Benz of Portsmouth, NH that the rear brake line on my vehicle had ruptured. I asked if I could see the failure, and they were happy to show me. I was dismayed at what I saw and took photos which I have included here. The extensive amount of corrosion was shocking. I also own a 2003 chevy plow truck that was driven on salt covered roads that did not require brake line repair for 18 years. I would not expect brake hardline failure at 9 years for a Mercedes product. Disappointed that my car was not able to be driven, I asked for a price for the repair. It was explained to me that Mercedes could not repair just the area of the failure, but instead had to replace the entire line. I understood this as the line was impaired in other areas as well, and posed a safety issue. The quote for the repair was $3,500.00 dollars. The quote represented approximately one third of the vehicle's value, I opted to have it towed and repaired the failed sections myself. (photos of cutout failed sections enclosed here). The car is now drivable, however the remainder of the hardline is still very corroded in other areas of the vehicle. On 11/24/23 Mercedes Benz had replaced my subframe which was part of a safety recall. When I arrived home after picking up my vehicle, there was a loud bang from under the vehicle. I immediately called the service department and told them about what happened and also complained that the steering wheel was cocked to the left and pulling in that direction. My service advisor John advised me to bring it back the next day which I did. They never told me what caused the loud bang, but they did say another front end alignment was done. The vehicle still continued to pull and the steering wheel was still off center. On [XXX] I took my car to Mr. Tire for a tire rotation because the car continued to sway and jolt when going over bumps. It also made a popping noise when making a sharp turn. Then on [XXX] as I was driving, the car pulled or slid to the left. In order to keep from crashing into another vehicle, I pulled the wheel right causing me to run over the medium and almost crashing into a building. I was extremely shook up and in disbelief. Was driving the car with my family close to home and the brake light came on. I drove home and noticed break fluid under the car. I took the car to Leober Mercedes in Skokie Il where I purchased the car and where I sometimes had it serviced. They told me my rear brake lining was corroded and it would be close to $4k to repair. I had it repaired but new that had to be a product defect since that just doesn’t happen as part of normal wear and tear and especially not to a car that has 57773 miles and hasn’t been flooded and that was regularly serviced. I’ve also found out that others have had the same issue with their Mercedes.

Driving on a highway approximately 65 MPH. Had to break fairly hard due to unexpected traffic. When breaking, my car fishtailed and I thought I was going to hit the vehicle in front of me. I immediately took my car to my independent, Mercedes-certified repair shop. My mechanic informed me that it was a problem with the rear subframe. I then took it to Mercedes for an inspection. They confirmed that the rear subframe was rusted and needs immediate repair. I was told not to drive the vehicle as it is extremely unsafe. Mercedes is aware of this problem. There was a class action lawsuit filed in February of 2023. Mercedes supposedly informed owners of the potential problem, but I was never notified. I only became aware of this dangerous subframe problem as a result of this incident.

Purchased and installed OEM diesel fuel filter made by Mann part WK820/17 or 171103 on [XXX] and drove for 9500 miles. On [XXX] I checked fuel filter as I could smell diesel fuel near the car for the last 2 weeks. Fuel filter heating element/H2O sensor was cracked and seeping fuel once fuel pump was turned on. Unit is available for inspection Safety issue-leaking fuel No inspection by police, manufacturer. I did contact RM EUROPEAN Auto Parts in Colorado who sold the part and am waiting to hear back. No warning lamps or CEL illuminated, only the smell of fuel with top of filter and engine coated in diesel fuel. (Tried to upload photos but "Upload Files" button just goes blank.) The subframe corroded causing an unsafe potentially hazardous condition. Also the brake line was were corroded causing imminent brake failure. The rear springs rusted from the corrosion subframe defect..Mercedes required 2800 dollars from me to remedy the problem

The parking brake frequently gets stuck and will not release when prompted even while driving the vehicle. Usually takes several attempts before the parking brake will release and disengage. The vehicle cannot be driven with the parking brake engaged.

My Cars Fuel Sender/Pump unit is leaking and it was diagnosed by Mercedes-Benz of chandler. I will attach report for same. they have given estimate for 1800 to repair it. this is common problem across multiple Mercedes vehicles and they have done recall on other models on this but they have excluded my model. since the Problem is generic to many mercedez vehicles they should honor this in safety recall. please see this article about this recall on other models. they have highlighted to me that its a safety issue as there is strong fuel odor from car on this. While cruising , car stalled after it beeped intermittently for a few minutes . On checking , the shop found that ignition switch assembly module has failed & stopped working . Strangely , the Mercedes-Benz dealer on Montgomery Road , Cincinnati refused to fix this , though the car was initially towed to them . This is suspicious action on the part of Mercedes-Benz dealer . The dealer acted as if they do not want this problem to become public .

Rear brake hard lines are corroded and leaking. Loss of rear brakes and fluid while driving. Rear subframe corrosion is being addressed by recall/warranty extension but this coverage has not been extended to the premature failure of brake lines. The rest of the car is not rusted or corroded, only rear brake lines and recalled rear subframe are rusted and corroded. Attached photos show the condition of brake lines and additional photo shows the rest of the car in a rust free condition.

Car control was diminished and braking caused car to pull hard. Creaking noise from rear end. Removed rear wheel to find frame had perforation where rear wheel has linkage to frame.

Electrical burning smell and buzzing coming from car entertainment system speakers. Did not stop even when entertainment system was turned off. Had engineer diagnose and issue is the rear subwoofer. Had to remove fuse or disconnect cables to stop issue.

Rear electrical sunshade stopped retracting causing poor visibility at night.

While driving on a local road, my wife lost control over the steering wheel of our 2014 Mercedes-Benz (MB) E350 sedan (the instrumental panel showed "Power Steering Malfunction: see attached photo)". It was a very dangerous situation, but she somehow managed to find a place to pull over and call me. It could've been much more dangerous if this occurred on highway. We found some information about the Power Steering Failure recall and our 2014 E350 was included as an affected car. Motor mounts and transmission mounts continue to fail at intervals or 13,000 miles and again at 16,000 miles. Vibration of transmission is scary. Mercedes has replaced the mounts many times. They refuse to install new Transmission mount now after only 16,000 miles on the replacement. I have contacted MBUSA and they are telling me , they will not help with these substandard parts. Very well-known issue.

My electric power steering failed. It often resets and can be unpredictable when it wants to fail again. It’s an intermittent problem that local dealer tried to fix with a software update but did not work. I was told I need a new steering rack at $5-6k which is unacceptable for any vehicle that has been maintained it’s whole life . My car is 8 years old with 100,000 miles with full service records I feel like this is a premature failure of the electric power steering

The rear subframe of my vehicle failed at the lower trailing arm mounting point (passenger side). This resulted in the car swerving to the right when I applied pressure to the brake pedal, which was worse at higher speeds. This had been getting progressively worse for a few weeks until I almost spun out on the highway while braking. The next day, I randomly got a flat tire on the rear right side while driving at 30MPH near Valley Street in Providence. There were no warning lamps or messages prior to the failure. I immediately replaced the tire and brought it to Midas on Mineral Spring Ave in North Providence, RI, so that they could inspect the vehicle. They discovered that the rear subframe was almost completely disconnected at the lower trailing arm mounting point due to excessive rust that had wore a hole in the part from the inside-out, which was not visible at the time of the last inspection. Midas immediately informed me that the car was unsafe to drive more than the distance back to my house. They also informed me that 3 tires needed to be replaced, including the flat, as a result of excessive wear on the inner wall and the inner edge of the tread. None of these three tires had reached the wear bars yet, and Midas confirmed they would not have had to be replaced if not for the subframe defect. I had the car towed to Mercedes-Benz of Warwick after Midas replaced the 3 tires (RL, RR, FR) because I heard that Mercedes had recently extended the warranty period for rear subframes (only months after a class action lawsuit was filed about the issue). Mercedes inspected the vehicle and confirmed the issue, and is currently replacing the rear subframe under the new extended warranty program for rear subframes. However, they refuse to reimburse me for the other issues directly caused by the corroded rear subframe (which they admit liability for when they replace the part free of charge), stating they have been instructed by corporate that related issues are not covered.

Power steering went out while driving/malfunctioned. This apparently affects other E-Class models, but mine is not among those listed in the recall.

The failure recurred several times however, the contact could not recall how the parking brake was released. On one occasion AAA released the parking brake however, the contact was unsure how the AAA mechanic was able to release the parking brake. The contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the parking brake, and the brake cable had failed to disengage as designed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but had not yet responded. The approximate failure mileage was 36,400.

I notice a strong smell of gas inside my vehicle immensing from the back seat area of my car.and it's stronger everytime bi fill up the gas cap is placed back correctly and no top off ever

The vehicle was inspected during an alignment at a dealership. The sub-frame has rotted out. The car was swaying to the side. I believe this car is dangerous to drive. The repairs are around $5000.00 dollars. There should be a recall on this Mercedes Benz E-Class 350 SUB-FRAMES. It is not safe to be on the road. The dealer is no longer around. The subframe of my vehicle is prematurely rusting, creating the risk of unpredictable, catastrophic failure. This failure could cause loss of control of the vehicle and severe injury and/or death. The vehicle is available for inspection. My independent mechanic is aware this is a known problem with these vehicles, and has been monitoring mine, and his mother’s, for damage. By August 2023, my vehicle will fail Pennsylvania’s safety inspection. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by any entity other than my mechanic. There is no warning, from any system of the vehicle, of the deterioration, extent of deterioration, or impending failure of the subframe.

While driving down the road at 60mph, I hit the brakes to slow down. I heard a pop and thunk from the rear of the vehicle. I thought it was some boxes in the back of my car and forgot about it. I then brought my car into the dealer for an engine computer update and during the inspection they found that the passenger rear control arm mount broke away from the sub frame and that the rear brake lines were heavily rusted. They quoted a new rear subframe and brake lines. If I was on the freeway and this happened or I had to take evasive maneuvers I most likely would have crashed. The mechanic told me the weld broke where the control arm mounts to the subframe. He inspected the rest of the vehicle and everything looks good. On a less than 9 year old vehicle the subframe should not have rusted enough to break. Especially on a safety issue like the suspension and brakes. Mercedes should have done a better job with their welds and with their rust proofing especially on safety components.

I brought my car into Mercedes on 9/13/2022 and was told my brake lines and subframe were rusting. It's a 2014 with only 80k miles on it. I was told I had a year before it needed to be replaced/addressed. I brought the car in again on December 12, 2022 and they said on a scale of 1-10 the subframes and brake lines were a 7 and were a safety issue. After doing some research, I am clearly not the only owner of this model dealing with this issue. This is safety issue and should be recalled. Subframes and brake lines should not rust so quickly.

I own a 2014 Mercedes-Benz E350, 4matic. that yeah car has approximately 64,500 miles on it. I recently Took it in for service and was advised that the rear subframe has a whole rusted through on the left side. The dealers advice was to replace the rear subframe. I was advised that it is not presently a safety issue, but it was going to be a safety issue as the rust continued. I was dubious about this advice, so I took the vehicle to a second dealer, who also identified the rust issue in the same area. Both dealer representatives advised that they had seen these issues before with the 350 class, and that there had been many complaints about them. I am aware that MB has replaced subframes on this group of cars in Germany and in Canada already—this is a well-known issue. The repair will cost between 3,800-5,000, but my real concern is that the subframe will fail and cause injury or death before it can be repaired. I do not believe this to be ordinary wear and tear as the car is relatively young, and rust is a very controllable problem with current vehicle technology. I am concerned that the scope of this problem is widespread, as both dealer representatives said that they had seen many cars with this issue. It needs to be recalled and repaired before people are injured or die.

Very strong gas smell enters the cabin and surrounding exterior of the car after fill up. Seems to be a very common problem with this model and follows the same issues with previous years that were filed with the NHTSA and ultimately needed to be repaired by MB. The problem appears to be with the components of the fuel tank immediately under the rear seat. I am at the point where this has become a very dangerous hazard that consumers should know that the manufacturer should address and that consumers should not have to pay for repairs.

I own a 2014 E350 mercedes benz the transmission was recalled a while back but long story short my car has all the same exact problems a lot of e350 owners are having with the conductor plate witch causes rough shifts between 1st and 3rd gear car went to Mercedes’ for more testing now I’ve got a 13000 dollar estimate and problem is even though the vin doesn’t show it was recalled for that reason the problem is spread world wide cuz my car only has 60000 miles and every one’s Mercedes’ is giving same exact problems not just mine so it has to be a recall

The car lost the brakes as I was driving. This was very sudden and there was no prior sensor indication. Upon inspection, it was discovered that the brake line broke and leaked the brake fluid as I was driving, causing the car to loose braking ability. Inspection of the brake line also showed severe rust in multiple parts of the brake line.

Parking brake pedal assembly failed. Yes it's available for inspection. My home is on a hill, a functioning parking brake is required to prevent the vehicle from rolling. Personal mechanic identified issue and replaced part. There were no warning lights or lamps indicating an issue.

Brake line to rear completely rusted through. Lost brake control while driving. Upon further inspection, the entire rear subframe has significant rust damage that warrants replacement.

Driver's side rear subframe has rusted to the point metal is split open. This was found during routine maintenance service at dealer. While braking the vehicle pulls to the left. If not replaced, wheel can fall off.

Our mechanic reports a dime-sized rust hole in the rear subframe.

I was driving on the highway and braked for traffic ahead of me. My car swerved hard to the right; however, I got it under control and brought it into the Mercedes dealer as soon as they had an opening. Upon examination, the dealer told me that the sub-chassis had corroded and broken away, damaging the torsion bar and denting the gas tank. A search online quickly showed that this is a common issue with Mercedes, and in some countries, they have issued a recall. The dealer quoted $5,250 to fix the car. This easily could have been a tragedy on the road with a less experienced driver behind the wheel. Mercedes must issue a recall for the inspection and repair of all affected vehicles.

On my way to work lady Tuesday 11/1/22 just a few blocks from my AT&T office I started smelling fuel. I thought it was an lad car next to me. Looking at the rear mirror I noticed a line of fuel following me. By the time I pulled a side and shut down the vehicle I lost the full tank. The vehicle was towed and is still at Mercedes Benz of Plano, Plano, TX. The tech said the orings had gone bad and the hose deteriorated. When I took my vehicle to the dealership for service to have it inspected, I was told that it would not pass inspection due to the corrosion of the rear subframe. They told me this is a serious safety issue and that they are seeing a lot of Mercedes, especially in the last year and a half, that have this issue. The repair will cost me $4,500, Mercedes does not cover the cost even though it is a major structural issue. The subframe should last the life of the vehicle which is only 8 years old/60,000 miles and has been garage kept with all recommended services done by the dealer. My life and and the life of others is at risk as if the subframe fails, it causes loss of control of the car. Mercedes will not issue a recall. Mercedes owners don't even know to look out for this problem. Why do they have air bag recall and braking system recall but not a recall for this as Mercedes Benz in the UK does??

Owned the car for only ONE winter season and it failed to pass a vehicle safety inspection required in my state for operation. Mechanic reported a rear subframe deteriorating from winter road salts and related weather conditions, and that this was a common issue for my car in these particular climates, but Mercedes refuses to cover the cost in the US, but is currently covering the cost of repair in Europe and Canada. This us ridiculous my car warranty will not cover it and I can’t afford $3500 to repair and replace. The vehicle only had 58,000 miles on it at the time of diagnosis. What’s worse is it could technically happen again even when repaired because the subframe lacks the special coatings needed for winter protection. Now my beautiful car is not safe and I’m subject to municipal fines and penalties. OUTRAGEOUS.

Speaker(s) caught fire and sent smoke into car while driving. Dealer recognized issue immediately and said they have seen this before a few times. Mercedes said car is not in warranty son they will not support approx. bill of $4,000. The issue was discussed in various forums by several owners. I would like to see that Mercdes act responsibly and address the issue appropriately. Smoke coming into car while driving is hazardous in addition to hindering visibility and potentially cause serious accidents. Please make sure that Mercedes is reprimanded and have them recall vehicles to address the issue.

The rear sub-frame involving vehicle stability under braking and turning. A component that should remain attached to the vehicle has broken off due to corrosion. My vehicle is not that old that a key structural component of the car should break at the weld/attachment point. I have video of this defect. But its greater than 10MB and will not let me upload it is there an email I can send it to ?

The 2014 E350 4matic was diagnosed by the Dealer with a cracked rear subframe. When I questioned that is this common with a 2014 model EClass they were not sure. Calling MB USA they felt there weren't any complaints. When I called 9 different dealers in the USA looking for a NEW subframe for the E-Class, the common response was we are receiving many calls about replacing the subframe due to issues / cracked frame/rust, etc. They were all surprised and felt this is odd that this model would have so many subframe issues. MBUSA denied any issues as far as any structural issues. Very odd that my 2014 with approx 100k miles (garaged all the time) has subframe issues.

2014 E350 with 41,000 miles. Rusted subframe and was informed that it represented unsafe and risky driving conditions. Reported this to manufacturer as, apparently, it is a very common problem with certain Mercedes classes. No recall and very expensive fix ($4500)! Not my idea of a safe and reliable car, as Mercedes likes to advertise. Consumers should not be responsible for manufacturing defects/ poor quality of materials used ..... and should definitely not be exposed to unsafe conditions when operating their vehicle!

I brought in my car to M1 Mercedes, Fremont, CA for service after “check engine” light was on and running rough on idle. I told them I started using ethanol (E85) fuel recently but my car is spec for that. The shop replaced spark plugs and ignition coils but the issue didn’t go away. While the car is parked overnight at the shop garage, on Jun 21, 2022, around 11pm, the engine exploded. The incident was caught on camera by the shop. The intake manifold was blown open. The car was tolled to Fletcher Jones Mercedes Fremont, CA (authorized Mercedes dealer) for diagnostic. However, they didn’t offer any solution or attempt to find out what caused the explosion. They offered to replace the intake manifold for $1200. I declined as I believe this is a serious safety issue. What happen if it explodes again? Since the cause of the explosion is not found and address. It could happen again anywhere, anytime. Fletcher Jones Fremont charged me $265 for labor and I tolled my car back home. I attempted to contact Mercedes USA via their website to alert them about this problem and seek resolution. However I never hear back from them. Rear subframe crossmember that connects to rear suspension is cracked and rusted resulting in dangerous handling characteristics. Part is severely back-ordered due to volume of consumers facing this problem. When braking hard, car swerves to right and can cross lanes. While this part broke, the car is otherwise rust-free. Brakes have been recently updated. If this is a common complaint, there should be a recall. The severe parts back-order leads me to believe that there are significant failures in the field.

There have been three events, all the same. Each time a speaker in a door, while driving, has began to squeal, sputter and the smoke. The first occurred while sitting inside a car wash, with the windows up, obviously. I was able to open the window, drenching myself, but venting the acrid electrical smoke. The second was while driving home from a medical clinic. The third was while driving on the interstate, traveling from my mothers funeral in California to Wisconsin It was 2am, just outside of Vail, Colorado in the rain. My wife was driving, while I slept. I woke to her screaming that the car was on fire, she pulled over, taking advantage of the antilock brakes for the first time ever, striking some type of curb, ultimately not killing us, but we lost another speaker, and a tire and rim. I’m, needless to say, displeased with my expensive European wagon, but Mercedes’ does not consider melting and smoking speakers to be a safety issue. Look online, and you’ll see plenty of videos of people with the same issue.

This issue is pertaining to a 2014 E350 Mercedes Benz. The brake system is in jeopardy. The subframe has rotted and cracked. Mercedes Benz is aware that this is a problem for many of their vehicles. While the right side of the subframe is rusted and beginning to crack, the left side of the subframe is totally rusted and busted out. The vehicle is routinely brought to the Mercedes Benz dealership for maintenance visits. It was making cracking sound in 2021, we brought it in to be serviced for that reason on 11/23/21. This issue was not noted at that time. Mercedes Benz indicated the solution was a lube. The issue persisted post visit. The car is infrequently driven because the primary driver teleworks. We returned the car to the dealership for an assessment 8/6/2022 due to ongoing concerns for our safety. The first indicator that there was a problem was the unfamiliar cracking sound as if the car could snap in half, then hard pulling to the left when braking. There was never a warning light or any other indicator on the dashboard or otherwise. The owners initiated the visit to the Mercedes Benz dealership. Mercedes Benz reported that they did not see the rust when they assessed the car for the cracking sound in 11/2021, furthermore that the rust and deterioration happens rapidly. Had the right side of the subframe also rusted and rotted out, this could have resulted in a total loss of control over the vehicle and been needlessly catastrophic. Warning indicators necessary and routine free inspection are warranted. Repairs for the subframe alone will cost more than $4000. This is a hardship. Further, it's unclear if the malfunctioning rear left caliper resulted from the rotted subframe. The vehicle appears to be in otherwise pristine condition. Mercedes Benz has never indicated there were any issues with the vehicle's subframe despite routine class service visits at the dealership. An internet search confirms this issue is not uncommon and possibly negligible.

The Rear Subframe Unit of this 2014 E-Class E212 is diagnosed as rusted and rotted out on this 8 year old vehicle. The poor quality of this part from Mercedes Benz is known to be an underlying, hidden risk factor to the stability of the vehicle. This is a hidden/underlying area of the vehicle, not visible to the driver/owners, that without cause, can break free from the main frame structure of the vehicle and create a stability factor when cornering and braking, causing swaying of the rear and owner panic when abruptly stopping. I had this vehicle serviced at Catonsville Mercedes-Benz since I purchased the vehicle on April 14, 2017. On my last visit on December 19, 2019 having only 40,051 miles. No physical evidence know to me during this inspection. The vehicle has been hardly used. My next service was done on July 28,2022, having only 49,250 miles. That's just 9,299 miles and just over 2 years later, no harsh weather conditions, and the dealership has confirmed that this subframe has rotted out and rusted nearly thru. The service writer informed me that this is a serious condition that can break apart and lead to a very serious accident. Depending on certain driving conditions, if this breaks apart unknowingly, can be catastrophic. Mercedes Benz advertised greatly the ultimate safety features of its products, only to be realized, that it has used poor quality galvanized steel on a major structure of its framework to save cost. Mercedes provides a 3 year/36,000 mile and a 5 year 50,000 mile powertrain warranty which neither covers this. Galvanized steel has a life expectancy of 6 to 8 years resulting in deterioration, which Mercedes knowingly intends to pass this repair cost to the owners. This vehicle was inspected by a certified authorized Mercedes Benz dealership. Warning lights, message sensors are not installed on this part. No other parts surrounding this component show any signs of rust, rot or deterioration. I feel unsafe to drive or place family within.

Car was being driven at secondary road speed (~40MPH). Engine suddenly began to spudder and misfire terribly. Came to a stop light engine was idled roughly. Accelerated from stop, when check engine light turned on. Car went into limp MODE at a very dangerous rail road crossing and left turn intersection. Without acceleration, family was in danger of being hit by train and incoming traffic. Took car to Mercedes mechanic. Faulty parts were the Camshaft Position Solenoid valve, ignition cool. Short circuit in one part caused blown ignition fuse and cascading mechanical problems and safety risks. Repair cost so far is $1,100. Concern is the placement of the faulty part. It is exposed to high heat in the motor compartment and poses a fire hazard as well as a personal injury hazard to the occupants and driver.

Vehicle is 9 years old, with 73000 miles. Dealer Service has advised that the rear subframe and brake lines are rusting and need to be replaced as a safety issue. Cost quoted was $8800. Mercedes agreed to pick up the cost of the parts and the dealer offered to split the installation cost, bringing my total down to $3150. On-line research reveals this is a common problem across several product lines and has been an issue for 20+ years. Failure at this point could lead to uncontrolled movement of the the rear suspension structure, the rear suspension members, wheels, and electronic sensors in the ABS causing loss of control and brake failure.

Informed by local Mercedes dealer that the vehicle has severe rear brake line corrosion at 55K miles. Stated that the vehicle could suffer loss of braking power if the line(s) ruptured. This is unacceptable for a vehicle with this mileage. According to internet searches this is a widespread problem on 2014 models and earlier. Estimated cost to repair is $3600.

Have purchased a 2014 mercedes E350 59k miles. This vehicle has an issue as so do many Mercedes with their rear subframes rotted out at the control arm bracket which causes the rear link/thrust arm to detach from the subframe/axle carrier and posses a danger when breaking due to the rear spindle assembly flexing throwing the wheels out of alignment and could be at risk for a car crack. This vehicle has already been in a minor crash as a result of this issue. I personally have not brought it to Mercedes to get it diagnosed inspected or the police law enforcement but there are many cases online on the Mercedes Benz forums to which this has also happened to. My 2014 Mercedes E350 with 54k miles has a Harmon Kardon sound system. About 4 months ago there was static/popping sound from the rear deck speaker driver side. The radio was turned off but the static sound remained. The popping eventually went away. Today, the static sound came back along with plastic burning that filled the inside of the cabin. This is a safety concern that should be acknowledged as it can cause a fire or electrical shortage. The smoke and scent of burning plastic from the speaker can cause health issues, distract a driver, and lead to a potential fire. Please look into this matter and protect other drivers. Thank you.

Fuel smell really strong & a huge fuel leak started on 6/20/2022. The fuel smell was so strong inside the the car I couldn't stay in it. It started leaking before I fueled up my vehicle. Wen to the back of the car and notice a huge puddle of gas. I didn't know anything about this recall until today. I've owed the car for three years. I hope that Mercedes will fix this issue. Very dangerous.

Strong gas odor inside cabin,whenever gas tank is full I can smell gas for extended time period. May relate to faulty gas line under the back seat.

Intermittently, while driving several of the electrical systems will fail including the lane keep assist and abs. When this happens, it also causes the instrument cluster to rapidly change speeds, making the vehicle unsafe to operate as the driver is unable to tell what speed they are going, which can become extremely hazardous since this happens at random. The issue has been diagnosed to be a faulty Radar Sensor in the rear bumper, however the specific part has been on backorder since February 2022 and Mercedes-Benz has shown no signs of urgency with resolving this issue. I have a video of the ongoing hazard that I can submit as well, it's just too large to attach to this form.

Brake booster starting to squel and squeak. Brakes Not feeling as firm Driver seat leather was torn at stitching.

During state inspection (Pennsylvania) I was told that the rear subframe was rusted. If this part failed the vehicle could become uncontrollable and crash. They are not able to repair this since so many other vehicles have this problem. They have no idea when they could get a replacement subframe. The car is 8 years old but very low mileage (~34,000). Do to the frequent occurrence of this problem (by their report) and potential safety issues, I believe this should prompt a recall.

I want to report a structural issue with the Mercedes rear subframe rusting. Three Mercedes dealers told me that it is common but there is no recall. The mechanic told me that if this is not corrected the back wheel will fall off while you are driving. There are no warning lamps. Please help.

Rusted Rear Subframe presenting a safety hazard. Possible separation of suspension link could lead to loss of control. Brought the 2014 Mercedes Benz E350 (85000 miles) in to the local dealership today for spark plug replacement. Technician performed a visual inspection of the underside of the vehicle and found that the rear subframe had rusted completely through making the care unsafe to drive. Car has been driven in Maryland since new and never exposed to any extraordinary corrosive elements that you might find on roads in colder climates. Car is in otherwise excellent shape with no other visible rust and has never been involved in an accident. The failure of a major suspension component like this on a car in otherwise excellent condition leads me to believe that there is a defect in the manufacturing of the rear subframe component. A quick Google search shows that other Mercedes vehicles suffer from this same problem. NHTSA ID Number: 11456512 also reports the same problem on the same model car. I have not had the problem repaired yet as I am deciding on next steps. Replacement estimate is approximately $4000. If I have the work done, I will retain the old subframe for inspection by NHTSA.

The Height adjustment of electric steering column adjustment sticks in adjustment position at the top limit stop. This has been fixed twice!

I was driving in the Dallas area at highway speed (approx 70mph) during rush-hour traffic when a crackling sound presented in the dashboard area from what appeared to be the sound system (Harmon Kardon surround system). This was immediately followed by the unmistakable smell of burning plastic or something similar. Smoke coming from the center speaker in the dashboard followed subjecting car occupants to potentially hazardous smoke and chemicals resulting from the fire.All signs suggested an electrical fire which was alarming considering this occurred at highway speed. Turning off the sound system did not stop the issue. My safety and that of others on the highway were put at risk because a fire of unknown origin occurred while driving at highway speeds. No accident occurred. Further exploration of the issue from a safe area off of the highway confirmed the following: 1) possible electrical fire emanating from the center speaker of the dashboard 2) center speaker was damaged and appeared melted 3) the only way to stop the fire was to remove the fuse powering the sound amplifier which allowed the car to be driven to the local Mercedes Benz dealer/repair center The car was inspected by the local Mercedes Benz dealer who confirmed: 1) the center speaker was damaged and not repairable 2) the cause of the problem was a "shorted" and otherwise faulty amplifier. 3) the cost to replace the speaker estimated over $400 4) the cost to replace the amplifier estimated over $2700 There are no safety recalls on this particular issue. However, an investigation of the matter on NHTSA and Mercedes Benz user groups has identified numerous occurrences of a similar nature in the 2014 "e" class vehicles. The amplifier, which was confirmed to be the cause of the fire, would appear to have a documentable and reproduceable fault which: 1) presents a safety hazard to owners/drivers of the vehicle, 2) puts other drivers as risk drivers, 3) subjects vehicle occupants to hazardous fumes

The car was brought in for scheduled maintenance and they told me that my rear sub frame rusted out and had snapped. Car is only 7 years old, always garaged, basically a main part rusted out. Mercedes prides itself on durability and safety. There were no warning lights, alarms, nothing. Whenever I braked the rear end of the car would slide to the left and I had to try and adjust accordingly. Prior to bringing the car in for its maintenance I was reluctant to drive it on highways and at higher speeds. Now that I am aware of the problem, had the rear of the car given out while I was on a highway, I had the potential to roll over and possibly blown up had the gas tank been impacted. I researched the issue on Google and found many instances of others having the same issue, with the same part, luckily no one appears to have been killed as yet. As I mentioned this was never picked up during all the scheduled maintenance work, nor state inspections, all handled by this dealership. The dealership is in the process of replacing the part and all work associated with that replacement. I don't know if they kept the part or tossed it out, but will ask. No one else has seen the car or rusted part other than the dealership. I'm also sending you a copy of the letter I sent to he dealership and Mercedes-Benz Home Office.

Mercedes Benz had a previous recall Campaign # 2009100001 which affected vehicles until 2012 and mine is a 2014 model E350. It has the same issue with Engine severely misfiring and jerky on the road as if it is going to STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF FREEWAY while driving and cause a SAFETY RISK for my family and others on the road. Specific component is Oil leaks from transmission wiring harness and ECM connector. The leak is from camshaft hall sensors and transmission drain plug. Mercedes Benz dealer in Pleasanton, CA has confirmed the issue after I paid $218 for diagnosis.

Severe gasoline leak smell inside and outside the vehicle. Smell is so bad as to make it impossible to stand next to the vehicle without gasping for air and watering eyes. Due to a fire hazard situation, car can not be parked inside the garage as there is a gas water heater installed in the vicinity. Fuel leak in the feed system has been a known problem in Mercedes vehicles in the past. A recall was even issued on E350, 2014 model (Recall # 15V792000). However, my vehicle was excluded from the recall on account of mfg. date not matching with the recall notice. But here we are same problem showing up in the vehicle even after so called fuel leak probe was closed. Took it to the dealer for diagnosis and repair was quoted to be $2297. That's an outrageous amount of money to repair a problem which should not have happened as part of regular wear and tear and is most certainly a fire-hazard and safety issue. My wife and kids ride in this vehicle several times a day and currently I can't let them in this car due to the fear of fire. I would kindly request you to reopen the fuel leak matter with Mercedes and look into the matter while I seek a reimbursement of the repair cost from Mercedes Corporate.

Mercedes Benz E350 2014 - Panoramic Sunroof rattling and squeaking noise/sound: This issue has been reported by many online, and it is a well known problem with E350. It starts with a little bit of squeak and metallic rattle noise here and there, and then after a year or so it is almost happening all the time as you drive the car. Dealer states that Sunroof Frame bolts have to be retorqued and loose bolts which rattle around have to be put back on. Estimated cost $712. If not a safety risk causing Pano sunroof to eventually fly off, it should definitely be a recall as many E350 owners have reported the same issue, and it is a manufacturer defect.

MERCEDES HAS REFUSED TO REPLACE DEFECTIVE TAKATA AIRBAG SINCE FEBRUARY OF 2019 MAKING DIFFERENT EXCUSES WHY THEY CAN'T REPLACE THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG WITH KNOWLEDGE THAT IF ACCIDENT CAN BE LIFE THREATENING.

MY STEERING WHEEL WILL NOT TELESCOPE UP/DOWN. I HAVE HAD THIS REPAIRED 2X'S IN THE PAST 3 YEARS. 5/2017, 6/2018, 8/2019, 12/2020 ADDITIONALLY, THE BLIND SPOT ASSIST NOTIFICATION GOES OFF WHEN THERE'S NOT A CAR AROUND ME. TYPICALLY HAPPENS WHEN I'M DRIVING AND GO DOWN A SLIGHT DECLINE IN THE ROAD.

CAR WAS PURCHASED FROM MERCEDES DEALERSHIP IN 2016 AND HAS ONLY BEEN SEEN BY MERCEDES DEALERSHIPS FOR SERVICE. IN 2019, A OIL SEEPAGE WAS NOTED DURING ANNUAL MAINTENANCE HOWEVER NO REPAIR OR DIAGNOSIS WAS PERFORMED. AT THIS TIME, THE CAR ONLY HAD 36,000 MILES ON IT. IN NOV OF 2020, THE CAR WAS TAKEN IN TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP FOR ANNUAL SERVICE. THE CAR NOW ONLY HAD 40,000 MILES BUT WAS GIVEN A 50K SERVICE. AT THE TIME OF SERVICE, THE TECHNICIAN EXPLAINED THAT OIL WAS LEAKING FROM THE ENGINE COVER AND HAD ALSO CONTAMINATED THE DRIVE BELTS. REPAIRS TO ENGINE COVER, BELT AND TENSIONER CAME TO $3000+. DEALERSHIP HAD NO EXPLANATION FOR WHY AFTER SUCH A SHORT TIME WITH LIMITED DRIVING, THE CAR HAD SUCH SIGNIFICANT REPAIRS NEEDED. A TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR HAD ALSO FAILED. FROM MY RESEARCH THIS ISSUE IS KNOWN, HOWEVER SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING TO A CAR BEGINNING ONLY 5 YEARS AFTER OF MANUFACTURING WITH LESS THAN 37,000 MILES.

BMW TRIED THIS WITH ANOTHER CAR I OWNED AND AFTER SEVERAL CALLS THEY FINALLY SENT A REPLACEMENT TO THE DEALER AND REPLACED IT,. HOW IS IT MB CAN KEEP GOING ON ALMOST 3 YEARS WITHOUT DOING ANYTHING? IF MY CHILD GETS HURT DUE TO THIS I WOULD BE FORCED TO PURSUE LITIGATION. IT SEEMS LIKE THEY ARE JUST DRAGGING THEIR FEET.

TRUNK HAS OPENED 6 - 8 TIMES ON ITS OWN. IN JUST OVER 5,000 MILES OF OWNERSHIP AND TWO DOCUMENTED ATTEMPTS TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. I HAVE EVEN TRIED, WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION, TO DELIBERATELY OPEN THE TRUNK WITH THE KEY FOB AND WITH THE DOOR MOUNTED RELEASE. IT DID NOT OPEN WHEN I TRIED TO REPLICATE AN UNINTENTIONAL OPENING. MOST RECENT INCIDENT, 10/24/2020- WHILE IN MY GARAGE, TEMPERATURE COOL ~ 65 DEGREES, KEY IN IGNITION ENGINE AND RUNNING FOR ABOUT 1-2 MINUTES, BOTH CAR DOORS CLOSED, PUTTING ON SEAT BELT, EMERGENCY BRAKE STILL ON, STILL IN PARK, HEARD THE TRUNK POP OPEN. CONFIRMED THE OPEN TRUNK IN THE REAR-VIEW MIRROR. THE EIGHT + MONTHS BETWEEN THIS OCCURRENCE AND THE LAST ATTEMPT TO REPAIR IS MISLEADING AS THE CAR'S BEEN DRIVEN LESS THAN 500 MILES BETWEEN THE LAST REPAIR AND WHEN THE TRUNK OPENED ON ITS OWN THIS TIME.

DISCONNECTED AMPLIFIER FROM BATTERY AND TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER WHO CONFIRMED. DEALER RE-HOOKED AMPLIFIER TO BATTERY, CONFIRMED THAT AMPLIFIER WAS INDEED SMOKING AND SPEAKERS WOULD NEED REPLACING AS WELL. VEHICLE ONLY HAS 57,750 MILES AND IS OUT OF WARRANTEE. LOCAL DEALER MAINTENANCE REPRESENTATIVE AGREED THAT A VEHICLE WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE SHOULD NOT BE CATCHING FIRE BUT DEALER WOULD NOT COVER COST OF REPAIR.

WEATHER WAS HOT AND HAD BEEN DRIVING ON HIGHWAY FOR HOURS AT TIME OF INCIDENT. SPEAKERS STARTED POPPING WITH SOUND LIKE GUNFIRE. SMELLED LIKE ELECTRICAL FIRE WAS HAPPENING THEN SOME SMOKE SEEN. STOPPED CAR. STILL HEARD POPPING SEVERAL MINUTES AFTER CAR TURNED OFF AND EXITED CAR. MECHANIC WAS CALLED AND FOUND POPPING IN SPEAKERS AND ESPECIALLY REAR DECK BASS SPEAKERS. HE RECEIVED 2 SMALL 2ND DEGREE BURNS AFTER TOUCHING THEM WITH BACK OF HIS HAND. HE DISCONNECTED BASS SPEAKERS AND PROBLEM WAS MOSTLY SOLVED THOUGH SIMILAR BUT SINGLE POPS STILL PERIODICALLY CONTINUE ON/NEAR OTHER SPEAKERS IN CAR. WILL PROBABLY HAVE SAME FAILURE ISSUE ON REMAINING SPEAKERS IN NEAR FUTURE.

WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THERE WAS A BURNING SMELL COMING FROM INSIDE THE CAR. MY SON PULLED OVER AND OPENED THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR THERE WAS SMOKE COMING FROM THE FRONT DOOR SPEAKER. WE BROUGHT IT TO RAY CATENA IN EDISON NJ EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM AND THEY STATED IT WAS NOT COVERED EVEN THOUGH THEY STATED A FAULTY AMPLIFIER AFTER TRYING TO REPLACE THE SPEAKER WHICH MELTED ON THEM AS WELL. THIS IS A DEFINITE SAFETY ISSUE AS MY SON COULD HAVE BEEN INJURED BE SO HE WAS DRIVING AT THE TIME. THIS WAS NOT A NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR REPAIR.

MY 2014 MERCEDES-BENZ E350S WAGON HAS KNOWN DEFECTIVE WOOD TRIM THAT HAS FADED WITHIN 5 YEARS AND HAS BECAME CLOUDY, AND DETERIORATED OVER TIME DUE TO INADEQUATE UV RAY PROTECTION. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL LAW SUITES FOR MODELS 2009 TO 2016. THE DEALER AND MERCEDES-BENZ USA HEADQUARTERS TOLD ME THAT THAT THE WOOD WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED AT MY COST. AS THE SMELL PROGRESSED, I PULLED OVER IN FEAR OF A POTENTIAL FIRE AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED AFTER I WAS TOLD THAT IT COULD CATCH ON FIRE IF I CONTINUED DRIVING IT. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS ISSUE THAT COULD MORE SEVERELY EFFECT ANOTHER INDIVIDUAL SHOULD THEY NOT BE AS KEEN ON NOTICING CABIN SOUNDS AND OR THE SMELL OF SMOKE. SPEAKERS DO NOT MELT AS A PART OF NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR, BUT BECAUSE OF POOR WIRING, ADHESIVE AND/OR CRAFTSMANSHIP. MY SERVICE ADVISOR CALLED ME TODAY AND CONFIRMED MY SUSPICIONS THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SPEAKER HAD IN FACT MELTED AND MY FRONT DRIVER SIDE SPEAKER IS ALSO IN THE PROCESS OF SUFFERING THE SAME FATE. THE DEALER REPAIRED IT AND SAID THAT IT WAS A COMPUTER SYSTEM ISSUE AND THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF IT BUT HAD NOT NOTIFIED CUSTOMERS. AND APPARENTLY THEY HAVEN'T DONE SO YET OR NOTIFIED THE NTSB BECAUSE NOTHING SHOWS ON THIS WEBSITE. THE OCCURRED OVER 6 MONTHS AGO SO I AM SHOCKED THAT IT HASN'T BEEN DEALT WITH.

THE PASSENGER SEAT HAD BEEN MOVED FORWARD USING THE LEVER OR HANDLE ON THE UPPER SEAT BACK SIDE TO MOVE THE SEAT FORWARD TO ENABLE A WOMAN WHJO HAD RECENTLY HAD BILATERAL KNEE REPLACEMENT SURGERY TO BE SEATED IN THE BACK SEAT. WHEN THE SEAT BACK WAS ERETURNED TO ITS UPRIGHT POSITION IT MOVED BACK FORCEFULLY INTO THIS WOMAN'S KNEES AND DID NOT STOP UNTIL HER HUSBAND REACHED THE SEAT BACK LEVER RLELEASED IT AND MOVED THE SEAT FORWARD. THIS CAUSED HER PAIN SHE SCREAMED AND FLAILED ABOUT WITH HER ARMS DAMAGING A REAR WIND SCREEN IN THE CAR. THE CAR WAS NOT IN MOTION. IT WAS STATIONARY IN MY DRIVEWAY. THERE IS NO SAFETY SENSOR. I BELIEVE THAT THE MULTIPLE ERRORS INDICATED ON THE DASHBOARD ARE ALL ERRONEOUS TO THE CORE ISSUE OF A SUDDEN AND TOTAL LOSS OF POWER UPON HEAVY ACCELERATION. NARROWLY MISSED HITTING A TRACTOR TRAILER AS MY CAR SWERVED AS THE TIRE RAPIDLY DEFLATED. TWO TIRES WERE REPLACED IN THIS INCIDENT BECAUSE A REAR TIRE HAD A SIDEWALL BUBBLE DEVELOP AFTER HITTING THE POTHOLE.. ONE AMG BENT RIM WAS REPLACED.THIS IS NOT A COMPLAINT REVOLVING AROUND THE COST. I HAVE A TIRE AND WHEEL WARRANTY THAT COVERS ME FOR THE COST OF THESE BLOWOUTS. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. I AM ONLY CONCERNED WITH MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF OTHER MERCEDES E350 OWNERS AND OTHER DRIVERS WHO COULD BE INJURED OR KILLED BY A MERCEDES E350 LOSING CONTROL IN A BLOWOUT. WHILE DRIVING ON THE LIE IN NEW YORK I HIT A POT HOLE AND THE TIRE BLEW OUT THROUGH THE SIDEWALL. THIS IS THE 5TH TIRE WITHIN 7 MONTHS ALWAYS IN THE FRONT AND I HAVE REPLACED WITH NEW TRIES.I WENT TO MERCEDES SERVICE AND THERE WERE 9 OTHERS IN THE SERVICE AREA WITH SAME PROBLEM. VERY HOLE OR BUMP THE TIRE EXPLODES, CREATING A DANGEROUS CONDITION OF HAVING TO STOP ABRUPTLY ON A HIGHWAY WITH CARS AND TRUCKS. LAST TIME I WAS IN THE HOV LANE AND HAD TO CROSS THE ENTIRE HIGHWAY TO GET OFF ALMOST GETTING INTO AN ACCIDENT. CRUISING AT 65 MPH THE ESC LIGHTS CAME ON AND THE CAR LOST POWER. IT NO LONGER RESPONDED TO THE ACCELERATOR AND REQUIRED THAT YOU PULL OFF THE ROAD, COME TO A STOP, AND RESTART THE CAR. THIS SAME PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED 3 MORE TIMES ONCE AT 35 MPH ON A STRAIGHT ROAD; ONCE AT ABOUT 20 MPH MAKING A TURN AND AGAIN CRUISING ON AN EXPRESSWAY AT ~50 MPH. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS DEFECT, SINCE A FAILURE OF THIS TYPE WHEN ENTERING A HIGHWAY OR TRYING TO OVERTAKE ANOTHER VEHICLE COULD CAUSE A HIGH SPEED ACCIDENT, RESULTING IN SERIOUS INJURIES OR FATALITIES. SHUTTING AND RESTARTING THE CAR ELIMINATES THE PROBLEM FOR THE TIME BEING. IF THIS HAPPENS AGAIN AND I AM UNABLE TO PULL OVER SAFELY, IT WILL BE A LIFE-THREATENING EMERGENCY. CAR EXHIBITS A ROUGH/UNPREDICTABLE SHIFTING AND ACCELERATION AT INTERMITTENT INTERVALS. ISSUE PRESENTS ITSELF AT RANDOM TIMES AND AT RANDOM SPEEDS SO IT IS DIFFICULT TO RECREATE AT WILL. ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS WHEN ATTEMPTING TO PASS OR AVOID HAZARDS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS; WHEN YOU PRESS ON THE GAS SOMETIMES THERE IS A LONG DELAY BEFORE ACCELERATION BEGINS, AND THEN THE ACCELERATION IS MORE THAN EXPECTED FOR THE ACCELERATOR INPUT. OTHER TIMES THE CAR ACTS NORMALLY AND WILL RESPOND PROPERLY TO ACCELERATOR INPUTS. AT LOW SPEEDS SHIFTS FROM 3 TO 4 AND 4 TO 3 ARE SOMETIMES ABRUPT/ROUGH WHICH IS NOT CONSISTENT WITH A CAR OF THIS CALIBER. THE CAR ALSO HAD A REAR END SHAKE FROM NEW, SO DEALER REPLACED REAR TIRES, AND THEN WHEN SHAKING PERSISTED THEY REPLACED THE FRONT TIRES, BUT THERE IS STILL A NOTICEABLE REAR END SHAKE WHICH THE DEALER ATTRIBUTES TO "ROAD FEEL" DUE TO LOW PROFILE TIRES, BUT I'VE HAD AUTOMOBILES WITH LOW PROFILE TIRES AND I AM A MECHANICAL ENGINEER, SO I KNOW WHAT ROAD FEEL FROM A LOW PROFILE TIRE IS VS SHAKING WHICH WAS CLEARLY PRESENT OTHERWISE THEY WOULD NOT HAVE REPLACED ALL FOUR TIRES. CAR HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES, BUT THE SHAKING, AND TRANSMISSION ISSUES PERSIST. *TR

THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED OVERNIGHT AT MY HOME ON 12/25/13 AND UPON ENTERING THE VEHICLE ON 12/26/13, I NOTICED A LARGE CRACK EXTENDING APPROXIMATELY 15 INCHES FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDSHIELD WIPER AND UP TO THE CENTER PORTION OF THE WINDSHIELD. WHEN I PARKED THE VEHICLE AT MY HOME ON 12/25/13 THIS LARGE 15 INCH CRACK DID NOT EXIST. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE MERCEDES DEALERSHIP ON 12/27/13 AND WAS TOLD THE HUGE CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD WAS CAUSED BY A SMALL IMPACT, ABOUT THE DIAMETER OF A PENCIL POINT JUST BELOW THE WINDSHIELD WIPER. THE EXTREMELY SMALL PENCIL POINT DIAMETER IMPACT CAUSED THE WINDSHIELD TO DEVELOP THE CRACK OVERNIGHT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AT MY HOME, SINCE THE LARGE CRACK DIDN'T EXIST WHEN I LAST EXITED MY VEHICLE AT MY HOME ON 12/25/13. I BELIEVE THAT IF SUCH A SMALL PENCIL POINT SIZED IMPACT AS ALLEGED BY THE DEALER, COULD CAUSE SUCH A LARGE CRACK TO DEVELOP OVERNIGHT WHILE MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED AT MY HOME, THE WINDSHIELD ITSELF IS DEFECTIVE AND THE WEAKNESS OF THE E350 WINDSHIELD POSES A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED ON 11/27/13. ON 12/2/13 PULLING AWAY FROM A STOP SIGN THERE WAS A LOUD POP AND SUDDEN DROP TO THE CAR. AFTER GETTING OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND LOOKING TO SEE WHAT HAD HAPPENED WE NOTICED THAT THE WHEEL HAD DETACHED FROM THE CAR. POLICE WERE NOTIFIED RIGHT AWAY BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS STILL IN THE ROAD. MERCEDES BENZ EMBRACE WAS NOTIFIED DIRECTLY AFTERWARDS AND INFORMED AS TO WHAT HAD HAPPENED. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER HAD TO TAKE A BOLT OUT OF EACH REMAINING WHEEL TO RE-ATTACH THE ONE THAT CAME OFF TO LOAD THE VEHICLE ONTO THE FLAT BED. FOUR LUG BOLTS WERE MISSING. WE DID FIND A PIECE OF A BROKEN BOLT LAYING ON THE GROUND NOT FAR FROM THE CAR. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE MERCEDES BENZ IN MEMPHIS. I THINK THIS IS A SERIOUS DEFECT AND SHOULD BE THOROUGHLY INVESTIGATED TO SAVE THE LIFE OF OTHER DRIVERS, HAD THIS HAPPENED TO ME ON THE INTERSTATE WERE I WOULD HAVE BEEN DRIVING AT THE SPEED OF 70 MPH ALL OF US SITTING IN THE CAR WOULD HAVE BEEN DEAD AND NO ONE WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO FIND THE CAUSE.
