Factory OEM Michelin Primacy All Season Tires (tire size 215/55R17) on a front-wheel drive 2024 Hyundai Sonata SEL with the 2.5L gasoline engine. At around 4,000 it had issues momentary issues with keeping traction in the rain when starting to accelerate after being stopped before regaining traction. Sometimes the traction control light would on the dash during the momentary loss of traction. Problem worsened over time and the tires are now very worn at 34,000 miles. At one point, I almost lost control of the car and almost crashed when slowing down after the steering wheel started moving to the left itself because of one of the front tires. Tires were properly maintained and rotated at scheduled maintenance intervals.

The entire dash cluster including the radio display cuts off and back on while driving. The only way I can describe it, is that the car seems to act like it was turned off then back on again. Initial lights when you start the car come on, seatbelt lights, initial startup dash lights, headlight indicator, headlights, radio, drive setting, everything turns off and back on while driving. Lasts for anywhere from 5-15 seconds. this has been going on for over a year now and the dealership has been made aware and have attempted to recreate the incident without success. It doesn't happen with any one way of driving, it happens at random times and so quickly, no photo evidence is able to be obtained. This most recent incident I did have a dashcam installed and it powered off and back on as it does when the vehicle is turned on and off. A different situation that my car has been having that is unable to be recreated is that the windows will lock up and not go down as well as when this happens the doors either remain locked unable to be unlocked or don't lock at all. This has also been reported to the dealership and they held my vehicle for a week attempting to recreate it without success even though I have multiple video evidence of this occurrence. I do not have pictures, but do have videos and it will not let me upload videos.

I was driving my 2024 Hyundai Sonata, where all of a sudden headlights went off and the infotainment center went off I couldn’t see anything on the road. Luckily I was right by a gas station (Circle K). This isn’t the first time this has happened with this car. Three different times, I was on the express way and almost crashed because the exterior lights and headlights shut off while driving.I couldn’t see a thing and I drifted off the road. Bluelink remote start with climate control is defective. When initiated, the vehicle starts but the climate control system comes on in the OFF state and does not apply the saved preset, including front and rear defroster settings. This defeats the intended pre-conditioning function in winter conditions, where a remote-activated defroster is a meaningful visibility/safety feature. The defect has persisted since early December 2025 and is documented widely on Hyundai's owner forums and on Reddit across multiple model lines. A recent Hyundai-issued app update removed the standalone remote stop button that owners had been using as a workaround, making the defect materially worse. Hyundai Consumer Affairs Case #[XXX] has been opened. As of this filing, no resolution or response timeline has been provided by Hyundai. We were backing up and leaving a parking space when the emergency braking system overrode our driving and forced a stop. This has happened many times, once while turning at a red light (which we had the right-of-way) and our car stopped on the middle of the intersection. Another time was during a turn in a non-traffic light turn lane where timing is important. Our car was again completely stopped in the middle of the road in oncoming traffic.

Driver side window switch that controls all the windows intermittently fails to operate at times which causes the window to not open or not close back again randomly. When wanting to close any window from the drivers seat the switches don’t work causing a safety hazard in a situation where the windows would require to be rolled up or opened immediately. Issue not brought up with Hyundai or any dealer because warranty doesn’t apply to 2nd owner. No warning lamps or errors. First incident happened August 2025 and has kept on happening intermittently.

The horn on my vehicle completely stop working. There were no alert messages and I found out that it wasn't working when I needed to use it. I was driving 55 miles per hr in a highway and another vehicle was about to switch lane to merge into my lane and driver did not see me and almost got into an accident. When I try to use the horn to alert tge other vehicle, horn did not work. It still doesn't work. Took my vehicle to Millenium Hyunday Dealership in Hempstead, NY and was told by service advisor that horn is only covered up to 60,000 Mike's because is an electronic feature. I disagree with that assessment and believe this is a safety feature that needs to be reevaluated.

While driving at an undisclosed speed, the seat belt warning light intermittently illuminated with an audible chime while the driver’s and passenger's side seat belts were properly buckled. Additionally, on two separate occasions, the horn was inoperable, and the anti-collision warning light illuminated while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and two other dealers, Alexandria Hyundai (1707 Mt Vernon Ave, Alexandria, VA 22301) and Sheehy Hyundai of Waldorf (2910 Crain Hwy, Waldorf, MD 20601), who were unable to duplicate the seat belt failures. The third dealer, Sheehy Hyundai of Waldorf (2910 Crain Hwy, Waldorf, MD 20601), determined that the horn needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 2,000.

Hello everyone. Since I purchased the vehicle new, the HVAC controls have never functioned properly. The A/C engages with the button off; this issue is only temporary solved by turning the button on and off again. The mode defaults to face and feet; this issue is only temporary solved by cycling through the modes until you reach your desired mode. Besides this being a very annoying problem, I found this to be dangerous for me because I like cool air blowing to my face, and I rarely catch this issue on time. Instead of cool air blowing to my face only as it's selected in my car, cool air is being blown to my face and feet instead. My feet get numb and my foot movements are slow when theyre too cold, and it takes a long time to warm back up. I usually pull over for a few minutes to warm my feet up to get back on the road, sometimes I'll get out of my car and walk back and forth to get the blood flow going. The dealership has inspected my vehicle twice to get it fixed under warranty, but so far their repairs have not solved the problem. In my opinion it is most likely a software bug that could be caused by a faulty module or program code, or something in the canbus system. I am almost certain that it is not a mechanical failure.

While driving the vehicle the other night, the cars electrical system completely shut off for a few seconds before popping back on. The whole car inside and out went completely black. It was around 10pm on a dark country road. I had the seat heater on high and the defrost on high because it was cold. It appeared to happen when the auto high beams were supposed to engage. Instead of them engaging, the whole cars electrical system just shut off. No headlights, no instruments, interior lighting, console display, nothing worked. The car was in battery mode at the time, and it sounded like the whole car just shutoff. I took my foot off the accelerator wondering what happened, and before I could understand what was going on, everything came back on. It did not prompt me to start the vehicle again. The auto on/off brights never worked like they were supposed to again either. I had to manually engage and disengage them. Thankfully it was just me on that stretch of road going 30mph at the time or it could have ended badly.

In morning dew/foggy winshield, the systems will disable easily. You get pop ups such as: Inattentive Driving Disabled, Camera Obscured. And forward collision warning disabled, camera obscured. I’ve had many vehicles in the past and the safety systems never disable this easily over slight fog or slight morning dew. Even with a lot of fog on the winshield my other cars are still fine. Complaint ID: 11667442 Vehicle: 2024 Hyundai Sonata Mileage: 20,000 (approx.). Update Summary: This update concerns the persistent, severe Electronic Stability Control (ESC) steering malfunction previously reported. Current Status of Issue: The ESC steering defect remains unresolved. The vehicle was taken to an authorized Hyundai dealership on July 15, 2025, for re-diagnosis. The technician reported being unable to find any fault, despite the clear, dangerous, and recurring symptoms of steering control loss and near-collisions. The vehicle is still unsafe to operate due to this unaddressed safety hazard. Manufacturer's Response: During this recent service visit, Hyundai continued to refuse to provide a loaner vehicle for the diagnostic and repair period. This refusal places the driver at extreme risk due to the necessity of driving a vehicle with a known, uncorrected safety defect that has already failed a previous recall repair (performed June 6, 2025, RO 41686321 ). Impact: The vehicle's safety is severely compromised. The persistent ESC defect, combined with the manufacturer's inability to diagnose/repair it and refusal to provide safe alternative transportation, necessitates immediate intervention.

Vehicle: 2024 Hyundai Sonata. Current Mileage: 17,804 Primary Safety Defect: Electronic Stability Control (ESC) Steering Malfunction The vehicle's ESC system has a severe, intermittent malfunction causing unpredictable loss of steering control. This defect creates an extreme safety hazard. Occurrences include the vehicle veering unexpectedly towards highway medians and losing steering precision during turns and roundabouts, leading to multiple near-collision incidents. The vehicle is currently considered unsafe to operate. Relevant History: This ESC concern was subject to a manufacturer recall. An authorized Hyundai dealership performed the "ESC SOFTWARE LOGIC UPDATE (24-01-065H-1)" on June 6, 2025. Despite this specific recall repair, the severe ESC steering issue has persisted and recurred multiple times since that date, indicating a failure of the repair to permanently resolve the safety defect. Secondary Safety Defect: Inaudible Parking Collision Assistance The vehicle's parking collision assistance system is non-functional. Its audible warnings are inaudible and have never worked as designed since vehicle acquisition. This eliminates a critical safety feature intended to prevent low-speed parking collisions. Finally, The combination of a critical, recurring ESC steering defect, unaddressed by a recall repair, and a continuously inaudible parking collision assistance system, renders this vehicle highly unsafe to drive. Immediate investigation and permanent resolution are required.

I have not had accident in vehicle. There is a driver attention warning feature in the 2024-2025 Hyaundai vehicles that can not be turned off. They were able to be turned off in previous models. Because of the over sensitivity of the feature it creates a distraction while driving. It triggers activation after 10 minutes of driving and goes off if you’re swerving or wearing sunglasses, etc. a number of reasons. However, while I have been driving perfectly fine, it continues to go off and beep every 5 or so minutes. No swerving. Both hands on wheel. The feature isn’t a bad idea but needs to be less sensitive and able to be turned off. Going off so consistently creates a distraction to me while driving. I could see there potentially being many lawsuits regarding this due to accidents. I have spoken to multiple Hyaundai dealerships and they all say there is nothing they can do.

I’m reporting a serious safety issue with my 2024 Hyundai Sonata. After a routine service at Koons Hyundai of Woodbridge in late February, the under-engine splash shield detached and dragged under the vehicle while I was driving on the highway. Upon inspection, it was clear that the splash shield was not secured with any screws or clips — it was either improperly installed during service or never fastened at all. This caused the shield to flap violently at high speeds before tearing off entirely. It posed a serious hazard to me and other drivers on the road. When I brought the issue to the dealership, they refused responsibility, falsely claimed it was caused by scratches (despite no such damage before the failure), and told me and my wife that we are no longer welcome for service. A part like this should never fall off a new vehicle, especially after a recent service. This could have caused a major accident if it hit another vehicle or interfered with my driving. I purchased this vehicle brand new off of the lot February 2024. Since then, I have had two incidents where in the middle of driving my vehicle has completely shut off. The first experience, I was driving 50+ mph. First my headlights went out, my engine shut off, my dashboard shut off, and I was cruising without power or control over my vehicle for about 5 seconds before everything turned back on. I took my car to the dealership where they “could not confirm concern” after driving around for 15 miles trying to recreate the issue. They stated no codes or issues were shown on their end and returned the car to me. 6 months later during late October, my car did the same thing. I was driving 40+ mph and my car shut off in the middle of me driving. I contacted my dealership to inform them it happened again. They told me they did not have any available appointments to bring my car in. Out of frustration I did not bring it in until a few weeks ago for a regular check up. I gave them the exact date and time that my vehicle shut off and they again could not find the issue that caused the car to turn off. I was informed by a Hyundai representative that he anticipates this issue getting worse as it happened twice in the first year of owning it. That when it happens again to get my car towed by Hyundai roadside assistance and straight to the dealership. As stated, I lose complete control of the vehicle. Luckily both instances I have been on a straight road but I have concerns that this could happen at the wrong time leaving my injured.

The DAW (Driver Attention Warning) system is obtrusive and a distraction to safe driving. The alert makes an audible "Beep" and the drivers display lights up with a warning to "Take a break". This alert will continue every 5 minutes if on a winding road until the car is stopped and the engine is turned off. When operating the vehicle in a safe manner keeping my eyes on the road and having the beeping and warning lights distracting me is quite the opposite of its intended purpose. In previous year models this could be turned off by the owner. This is not so with the 2024, 2025 models. This is not isolated to this vehicle but a search of the internet will find many frustrated owners all voicing their concerns. A safety alert system should not become a safety hazard. The dealer has no solution. The alert system cannot be turned off or it's sensitivity adjusted. The manufacturer has so far not responded to my complaints.

The automatic high beams feature seems to work through the camera by the rearview mirror. But the issue is when this camera is blocked, all of the safety systems that use the camera will be disabled as they normally will be since the camera cannot see, but the automatic high beams function will still stay on, the indicator light for it will be green meaning that the system is operating normally. As a result of this, the automatic high beam system keeps the high beams on at ALL times because it thinks that it is dark enough because it doesn’t see any light through the camera. This could potentially increase the risk of a crash because the driver may not realize that the high beams are NOT turning off when approaching another vehicle or when a vehicle is coming the opposite direction, which can blind other drivers on the road. This needs a recall to resolve this problem.

My vehicles speedometer is always reading 1-4 mph faster than the actual speed I am driving at. For example cars speedometer would read 67 but only actually going 63. I’ve noticed it’s always 1mph off but whenever driving the car and turning it off to say get gas and turn right back on, the speedometer will begging reading 3-4 mph faster until leaving the car off for a few hours then it would go back to only reading 1mph faster again.

I along with other people on various websites have noted that the 2024 N-Line has something wrong with the speedometer. I first noticed is on the waze that is was different. It must have something to do with the internal GPS of the car. I tested it alongside another car and it is indeed off. It happens after driving the car into a place that isn't obvious on the map. I brought the car to the dealership and they weren't able to help. I know there is a slight allowance for speedometer being off, but this is way off. For example, it can show one is going 25, while really going 20. This causes me to have to look at Waze to get proper speed. This is a real issue and if search hyundai sonate N-line speedometer being off, you can find other people talking about this issue. Please really look into this as this is a major concern that falls outside the allowed difference in speedomter and actual speed

Hello, thanks for reviewing. I recently bought a brand new Hyundai (VIN provided) and the speedometer intermittently is inaccurate. Maybe 50% of the time, which I would argue is less safe since I can’t reliably tell what my speed is. When it is an issue, it’s worse the faster I drive. It breaks the 10% threshold I’ve read about around 30mph, where it will say 26mph. I brought it to the Hyundai dealership and they claimed they couldn’t replicate the issue so they won’t fix it - but it’s intermittent and I have picture / video proof from multiple dates. I used various speed sources to be sure. I found some Hyundai forums online where many others have the same issue. The speedometer is an important safety feature, not to mention other dependent features, like cruise control. Happy to provide proof by request.

When driving early in the morning while it was still dark outside, the car had what seemed to have been a sudden loss of electrical power. The audio for the radio cut off, then the screen for the radio and speedometer went blank, and the headlights also went out. This all lasted for a couple seconds when this happened and then everything came back on fine. I normally would think that this is a defective alternator which it probably is and would be covered under warranty, but after researching this problem I found out that it is a common issue with the 2024 Sonata. I feel that this warrants a safety recall which I seriously doubt will happen but it needs to. If it causes problems with headlights shutting off at night then this is a safety issue. Who knows what will happen if the headlights shut off on you at night and you couldn’t see where you were going because of it?

ODI #11620012STRUCTURE

The front and rear bumpers of the 2024 Hyundai Sonata have an issue with the bumper brackets. The defective bumper brackets are causing many people's front and rear bumpers to pop out. While these have mostly been 1/8th inch popping off so far, my concern is this may become a bigger hazard as these cars age. Facebook groups with Hyundai Sonata owners have discussed this being a common issue. Those who have had their dealers replace the bumpers/bumper brackets still have recurring issues.

This has happened three or four times now while I have been driving. While driving, my electrical system will "black out"/"power down"/"shut off." Everything on my dashboard turns off/goes black. My lights turn off. It is like my car shuts down for 2-4 seconds, then turns back on and I can continue to drive. There is no warning, sound, or anything. My car will just abruptly shut off. It is random too. There is no pattern that could help me determine what could be potentially causing this issue. It just happened again last night, while I was on the highway going about 70 mph. This could not only hurt me, but other people on the road. What if the next time my car powers down for a longer period of time? Who is to say what could potentially happen? I intend on scheduling an appointment with a Hyundai dealership to take a look at this issue. But I figured that because this has happened three or four times now, it will probably happen again, and other people are probably having this issue too. It could be a potential defect with the electrical system.

ODI #11615888UNKNOWN OR OTHER

The speedometer is not always accurate. About 75-80% of the time at highway speeds the speedometer shows 4mph higher than WAZE. While I understand this could be a WAZE issue itself, I have completed the following test. I was driving at highway speed with my wife following me in her vehicle. My speedometer is 4MPH faster than WAZE in my car, WAZE in her car and her speedometer. My WAZE, her WAZE and her speedometer all matched exactly. This is not a 1 time thing, it happens way more often than not.

ODI #11615185VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

The vehicle speedometer is occasionally 5mph off. When I first get into the vehicle after it’s been sitting for a while and drive around, the speedometer works perfectly. If I shut the vehicle off while getting gas, running an errand or something similar that involves the vehicle sitting for a semi-short period of time, the speedometer will be 5mph off when driving. I initially detected this issue be noticing that my speedometer was different from the speed posted on a GPS based speedometer on my phone, who’s speed exactly matched those road side speed measuring signs found on the highway, but both of those measuring devices differed from my vehicles speedometer. I brought my vehicle into my local Hyundai dealership who verified the problem exists, but mentioned that this was a software issue which needs to be corrected my Hyundai Corporate. I contacted Hyundai Corporate at the number provided to my by the dealership, and was essentially told that there is nothing they are willing to do to fix the issue.

As I’m driving 75 MPH, my car slows down and on the dash board it reads 20 MPH LIMIT. I’m on the Expressway and, prayerfully, by putting on my HAZARD BLINKERS, I pull over, wherever it’s safe, turn car off, restart the car and then it’s fine. PLEASE HELP BECAUSE THIS IS A LIFE THREATENING SITUATION! SCARED This has occurred SEVERAL TIMES.. Approximately 1 month ago I took it into SERVICE DEPARTMENT (kept 1 week and never slowed down on them. Again, once the car is turned off, it drives fine. How can I turn off this 20 mph hour limit on dashboard. Any advice or help you can give me to put me at ease, is CRITICAL! Thank You in Advance.
