ODI #11737966VISIBILITY/WIPER

On Wednesday, May 13, 2026, I turned off the highway and came to a stoplight. While preparing to accelerate as the stoplight turned green, I heard what sounded like a gunshot and saw that my entire rear window had spontaneously shattered. There was no external impact which caused this to occur. I have photos of the incident. Although my one year old son was not in his rear facing car seat at the time, if he had been, he would have been at risk of injury due to glass fragments. I was at risk as the sound startled me into breaking when I should have been accelerating with the rest of traffic and it left my interior exposed to the elements. I am scheduled with Safelite repairs through my insurance company to repair the window on Monday, May 18th. There were absolutely no messages or any symptoms prior to the spontaneous shattering of my window. After researching, according to Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith LLP, there is currently an investigation for a potential class action lawsuit regarding an alleged defect of my make and model causing spontaneous rear window shattering.

Hyundai Recall 290 was performed on my vehicle by an authorized dealer. The Dealer has stated "CAMPAIGN COMPLETE" and has no plans to get the necessary cable.

ODI #11736842VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

The Manual Speed Limit Assist, or MSLA, feature unintendedly activated while I was driving, nearly causing a collision. I was initially unable to deactivate this steering-wheel based feature, as: (1) I did not intentionally press any buttons to activate it, and: (2) I had to balance the need to visually monitor other vehicles on the highway to avoid a collision and simultaneously figure out how to cancel this feature, which places a limit on the speed that the vehicle can travel. Instead of claiming that this feature malfunctioned, I am claiming that it is an egregiously, poorly designed and dangerous feature. The button to activate it is located on the steering wheel; consequently, a driver can easily activate it without meaning to do so. This inadvertent activation happened to me twice, each time impeding, however briefly, my ability to safely navigate a busy road. This feature was not identified when I purchased the vehicle; however, earlier this year Hyundai belatedly sent a letter to its customers titled "Understanding Manual Speed Limit Assist (MSLA) Feature," pointing out how to activate and disengage the feature (and providing a link to a website for a tutorial with more information: [XXX] . (NHTSA Tracking Number 11726105) I am updating my existing complaint regarding my 2024 Hyundai Tucson (NHTSA Tracking Number 11726105) for an ongoing safety concern involving an intermittent warning chime while driving. This issue began shortly after I purchased the vehicle in Nov 2025 and has been reported to the dealership multiple times over several months. The warning chime occurs randomly while driving without any visible warning message or dashboard alert. This creates uncertainty because I do not know what the vehicle is trying to warn me about, which is distracting and creates a safety concern while driving. The dealership previously replaced both front seatbelt buckle assemblies after identifying intermittent high resistance as a possible cause. However, after that repair was completed, the warning chime occurred again while I was driving to the dealership for a follow-up visit. This confirmed that the issue was not fully resolved. I immediately returned the vehicle to the dealership, and they are now performing further diagnosis. I was advised that if the issue reoccurred, the next possible areas for diagnosis could involve the instrument cluster or the control module, both of which are safety-related systems connected to warning alerts and seatbelt functions. In addition, during this same visit, the dealership confirmed there is an actual oil leak requiring repair. This is significant because when I first raised this concern after an outside inspection in December 2025, I was told it was likely leftover residue from a prior oil change. The dealership has now confirmed it is a real leak and kept the vehicle for repair while providing a loaner vehicle. Because this vehicle was sold as Certified Pre-Owned and these safety and mechanical concerns continue shortly after purchase, I remain concerned about the reliability and safety of the vehicle.

While driving at approximately 70 mph on a highway under normal conditions, the vehicle experienced a sudden loss of engine power. A check engine light illuminated at the time of the failure, and the vehicle was unable to maintain normal acceleration or consistent speed. The loss of power created a hazardous situation in active traffic, as the vehicle could not safely maintain speed with surrounding vehicles. The vehicle was later inspected by an authorized dealership, which confirmed severe internal engine damage, including cylinder damage and engine misfire requiring major repair or replacement. No clear root cause has been provided. There were no prior warning signs or symptoms before the incident. WARNING SIGNS PRIOR TO FAILURE: NONE OBSERVED. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. DEALER CONFIRMATION: YES. MANUFACTURER INSPECTION: UNKNOWN.

ODI #11729169ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Component: Engine/Powertrain/Electrical System Incident Description: I am reporting a recurring, life-threatening "Loss of Motive Power" (Dead Pedal) in a 2024 Hyundai Tucson (Alabama-built). On multiple occasions, the vehicle has failed to respond to throttle input during high-risk maneuvers, specifically while merging into 45+ MPH traffic. The vehicle "chugs" and stalls, refusing to exceed 15 MPH despite full accelerator depression. This defect leaves the vehicle and its occupants stranded and defenseless in the path of oncoming high-speed traffic. Technical Context: This vehicle is currently subject to NHTSA Recall 23V-526 (Hyundai Campaign 246) for electronic controller damage that can cause "CAN communication disruptions." I believe the "Dead Pedal" failure is a direct result of these communication disruptions between the engine and transmission control modules. Furthermore, Hyundai has issued TSB #24-AT-001H-1 for "Hesitation when accelerating," yet the authorized dealer (Ed Voyles Hyundai) has been unable to remedy the defect after 84 cumulative days out of service. Safety Risk: This is not a convenience issue; it is a critical safety failure. The unpredictable nature of the power loss makes it impossible to safely judge gaps in traffic. The vehicle effectively becomes a stationary object on active roadways without warning. Manufacturer Response: The manufacturer has been formally notified via certified legal counsel. Despite 79 consecutive days in the current repair attempt (since Jan 16, 2026), the manufacturer has failed to provide a fix or acknowledge the severity of the safety risk. An informal third-party evaluator attempted to dismiss the claim despite the vehicle's documented inability to maintain motive power. We are requesting that NHTSA investigate the adequacy of Recall 23V-526 and TSB #24-AT-001H-1, as these measures have failed to resolve this life-threatening "Dead Pedal" condition in my vehicle.

I am submitting a vehicle safety complaint regarding my 2024 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid. The vehicle has a recurring engine warning issue (code P0471) that has not been resolved despite multiple repair attempts by an authorized Hyundai dealership. Additionally, there is a concerning discrepancy regarding vehicle usage while in dealership custody. My records indicate a substantial increase in mileage during service, which is not reflected in official service documentation. This raises concerns about vehicle handling and accountability. Hyundai has declined to escalate or properly address the issue and has advised that they will continue repair attempts without further resolution. Given the recurring nature of the issue and the lack of accountability, I am concerned about potential safety risks. I respectfully request that this matter be reviewed and recorded as part of any ongoing safety investigations.

While operating the vehicle, an intermittent audible warning sound occurs without any corresponding alert, message, or notification displayed on the dashboard or infotainment screen. The specific component or system causing the warning is unknown. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. This condition puts my safety at risk because the unexplained warning sound occurs while driving and causes me to divert my attention from the road in an attempt to identify the source or meaning of the alert, creating a driver distraction. The issue has been reproduced multiple times under normal driving conditions. I demonstrated the condition to the dealership and provided video evidence; however, the issue has not been diagnosed or confirmed, and no root cause has been identified. The vehicle has been inspected by the dealership, but no explanation or resolution has been provided. The manufacturer is aware of the issue through an open case. There were no warning lamps, messages, or prior indicators associated with this condition. The audible warning occurs without any visible alert or explanation. The condition began shortly after purchase in November 2025 and was later documented and demonstrated to the dealership in January 2026.

ODI #11725972SERVICE BRAKES

I am reporting a repeated brake system issue on my 2024 Hyundai Tucson involving premature rotor warping and brake failure at very low mileage. On April 30, 2025 (11,007 miles), I first noticed significant vibration and shaking when braking. On May 29, 2025, Colonial Hyundai diagnosed the issue and resurfaced the brakes under warranty (Hyundai case #40826529). The issue persisted immediately after repair, and on June 13, 2025, I was informed that both front and rear brakes and rotors needed replacement. On June 19, 2025, all brakes and rotors were replaced under warranty, resolving the issue temporarily. Less than 8 months later, on February 12, 2026 (under 10,000 additional miles), the same braking vibration returned. The original dealer attributed the issue to driving behavior. At Hyundai’s direction, I sought a second opinion on February 26, 2026 at Piazza Hyundai of West Chester. They confirmed that the brakes and rotors again required replacement and indicated this was unusual for such low mileage. On March 16, 2026, despite the dealer’s findings, Hyundai Corporate declined to cover the repair under warranty. This vehicle has now required three brake-related repairs within a short period and low mileage, including resurfacing and full rotor replacement, followed by another failure. This pattern suggests a potential defect in the braking system, materials, or related components, rather than normal wear. Component/System Failed: The failure involves the braking system, specifically repeated warping/failure of front and rear brake rotors and premature brake wear. The vehicle and components are available for inspection upon request. When braking, the vehicle experiences significant vibration and shaking in the steering wheel and chassis, which affects braking smoothness and control. This condition can reduce driver confidence, increase stopping distance, and may lead to loss of control during braking, particularly at highway speeds or in emergency stop.

I’d like to file a complaint regarding Hyundai Recall#290, a potential fire hazard with my cars “trailer wiring harness accessory module”, which Hyundai has not offered a remedy at this time. I spoke to Hyundai’s customer service representative yesterday (3/18/26) about this recall that’s now over a month old, and asked if I could get reimbursed for my out of pocket costs to remove the hitch’s wiring at a Hyundai dealership. The rep said Hyundai won’t pay for my out of pocket cost to remove the harness wiring because they don’t have an official “remedy” yet. My local Hyundai dealership said the cost to unplug/remove the wiring would be about $200, which in my opinion would solve the problem and certainly is a “remedy”. Hyundai refuses to reimburse me this cost even though they have a Hyundai recall reimbursement program for out of pocket expenses due to recall issues. My complaint: 1 - Hyundai has failed to provide a no cost recall remedy within a reasonable period of time. 2 - if I choose to pay for removal of the wiring, my out of pocket cost of $200 will not be reimbursed by Hyundai. 3 - Hyundai’s recall says I could continue to drive my 2024 Hyundai Tucson, but apparently if the car gets wet, the wiring could ignite and cause a fire, which I’m not very comfortable with. 4 - I don’t use the trailer harness module at all since I bought the car used from the original owner, so removing the entire harness would be a reasonable solution and allay the fire risk. Thank you.

Driving to work, going into a turn with no obstructions my car frequently alerts to a "collision warning" that is not there. Additionally, I have been driving on the highway, with no obstructions in front of me and my car emergency brake despite an emergency not being present. In both instances, it is extremely distracting and induces anxiety as I am alerted of a threat that is not there. Further at highway speeds (65-70 mph) on the highway, and braking despite having no emergency nearly caused an accident. I was able to push further down on the gas to force the car to keep going to not stop on the highway. The collision warning has been an issue since purchase of the car in June 2024, the emergency brake occurred in February 2026.

I am submitting this complaint regarding Hyundai Safety Recall #290 (NHTSA Recall No. 25V893) as it applies to my vehicle, VIN [XXX] . I received the official recall notice by mail on February 13, 2026. The recall identifies a defect involving the tow hitch wiring harness control module, which may allow water intrusion. According to the recall documentation, this defect can cause inoperative stop lamps and, in rare cases, an electrical short that could result in overheating or a vehicle fire. Since receiving the notice, I have contacted Hyundai Motor America corporate customer care three separate times seeking escalation and guidance on how to safely address this recall. During each call, Hyundai stated that no repair solution, parts availability, or timeline exists for remedying the defect. Despite the recall involving a documented fire risk and potential brake/stop lamp failure, Hyundai representatives advised me that I could continue driving the vehicle while waiting indefinitely for a remedy. No interim safety measures, inspections, alternative repairs, or mitigation steps were offered. I am concerned that Hyundai is failing to properly execute a federally mandated safety recall and is placing consumers in the position of operating vehicles with known, unresolved safety defects. Being advised to continue driving under these circumstances creates a risk to vehicle occupants and to other motorists. I am requesting that NHTSA review Hyundai’s handling of Recall #290, specifically regarding recall remedy delays, lack of escalation, and failure to mitigate an acknowledged safety risk, and take any enforcement or compliance action deemed appropriate. On October 8, 2025, my car's tachometer started to dip and my car began to shake like it was going to stall as I approached a traffic light. The check engine light came on. I was close to my destination (about a 1/4 mile) so I drove to the parking lot and turned off the car. I started it again and the check engine light turned off and the car was running fine. On October 13, 2025, I took my car in for a routine oil change to a local repair shop and when they tried to reset the oil change reminder, the system would not work. Within a day, the entire computer system for the radio, warning systems, air conditioner/heat, etc, would not work. I took it to Burlington Hyundai on October 15, 2025 and they had to replace the CPU in the car. I got my car back on October 22, 2025. They said the check engine light did not come on again. On Saturday January 31, 2026, I was driving and the tachometer started to go low like the car was going to stall out and the car began to shake. Then the check engine light came on. I was afraid to drive it, so I parked it in a church parking lot and had it towed to Burlington Hyundai on Sunday February 1, 2026. On Monday February 2, 2026 Burlington Hyundai said there was a problem with the spark plugs and that was why the check engine light came on. They replaced the spark plugs and it was covered under warranty. I got my car back on Tuesday February 3, 2026.

I had just gotten my car back from Burlington Hyundai the day before for the same problem. I drove it straight to the dealership for service. This time, they said it was a problem with the EGR system. They replaced some things and I got my car back on Friday February 13, 2026.

My car was parked, without any trees or other objects that could possibly damage my car near by, and the glass on my front windshield cracked for absolutely no reason. It starts where the glass attached to the car and spreads to the middle of my windshield. I believe there is an installation defect because this car is only 2 years old and has never had any damage to it. I also read that this is a common problem with other Hyundai models.

I was driving on the highway with no one in front of me. The car suddenly slammed on the brakes and flashed "emergency breaking system" on my dash. My car went from about 75 mpg down to 50. The car behind me almost rear-ended me. He then proceeded to pass me and brake check me because he thought I had deliberately brake checked him. This incident caused the man behind me to get road rage and react dangerously to me. I hit the gas and it finally stopped breaking and let me gain speed up again. It was terrifying. This is not the first time this has happened but it was the first time in the highway. It has happened several times on side roads for no reason either. I have an appointment with Hyundai to figure out what they can do because I don't feel safe driving this car.

My 2024 SEL hybrid has a very annoying acceleration delay after a full or partial stop. The delay has occurred many times. It is present no matter which mode the car is on. It is not a matter of slow acceleration, but a 1-2 second delay of anything happening after I press the pedal. this could be a safety issue when you're at a stop sign and you need to proceed and you can't go.

My wife was slowly pulling into a parking spot, when at about 10ft from curb the car suddenly accelerated faster than she even thought the car even was capable of (the AWD likely helped). It hopped the curb and hit a tree. She backed it up to the parking spot (it acted normally) and had it towed to dealer. In hindsight, the car had been having a progressive amount and frequency of delay in normal acceleration, sometimes having a pause of up to second or two from pedal input to car response. We asked the dealer to check the EDR (event data recorder). The tech first said he didn't even know what that was, then that he checked with all his fellow techs and they didn't know either, then the story changed to the model not having an EDR. We politely told him which page in the Hyundai manual he can find it, and he refused to look, as did his boss. Car was transferred to a body shop, and disposition was to total the vehicle. While the body shop was still evaluating the car, we contacted a second dealer, who said they don't have a reader. I inspected the floormats before the car was towed, as that was an initial suspect, but it was locked in and clearly there was no obstruction. She was wearing tennis shoes and doesn't recall ever having an instance of hitting the wrong pedal in any vehicle. She thinks she was only coasting, not even touching the brake yet.

I had to retrieve something from the back of my Hyundai Tucson Hybrid SUV, opened the back door. I retrieved several items and placed them in a safe area. Got back into my vehicle and proceeded to drive into my garage (with the rear door fully open). Next thing I heard was my Tucson crashing into my garage door. I had no warnings, flashing lights or audio sounds nothing that would help me avoid that collision. The reason I purchased this particular vehicle was because it comes with sensors and cameras completely around the vehicle (including the rear). In fact on the rear door is sensor and a camera. In fact I can park the Tucson out of the vehicle. The sensors will ensure that it will not collide with anything. Same is true in a very tight parking spot. Anyway the other 4 passenger doors have several warning signals. From low ibeeping to very loud annoying audio sounds that you cannot ignore. I’ve contacted Hyundai Motor America and they’ve denied my complaint. They claim that the extent of the “warning is a red light on the dash”. My local dealership kept my Tucson for 11 days not knowing what to do and how to resolve this problem. I’ve come to reply on the audio warning system, and as a Senior Citizen, not to look at the dash to prevent collisions. This is very serious ,especially, if that door is not locked while I’m driving, any thing can push open the door, resulting in injury or death to people in the vehicle or on the road. This is compounded by the fact that Hyundai produces many types of SUVs, including Genesis.

Hyundai dealership took the car in and returned it in two hours noting they could not duplicate. Several days ago, the same thing happened with the emergency brake system. Driving at approximately 40 mph the car slammed on brakes and the dash illuminated again.  No cars behind me. The dealership returned the car once again, noting they could not duplicate.   The car has less than 8000 miles.  I won’t allow my wife to drive more than 10 miles alone.  It’s unsafe. The manual states the car is not to be driven with any of the sys indicators on and to do so would cause serious injury or damage to the car.   I will send attachments of invoices, NHTSA complaints and Hyundai manual info about unsafe condition.

Forward Collision Emergency Braking. Have had this happen on 5 different occasions. Very dangerous. The vehicle without warning slams on the emergency brakes and issues a warning. Took into dealer and they could find NO error codes and did nothing. First time this happened I thought maybe a bag or something flew up and obscured the forward facing sensors. Pulled over and checked nothing. Then 3 times it happened within 5 minutes. Pulled over and sensors looked fine no dirt or anything on the sensors. Can not drive car with this and so have been disabling the system except for a warning tone. Today it activated it again. Usually when I approach something the sensors turn yellow and then red when getting real close to an object. But today when it activated when not close to anything and driving down the road all the forward sensors activated with the warning but it was gray. (not yellow or red) Since I had it on warning only the brakes did not activate. This is very dangerous and unless you disable the automatic emergency braking could lead someone to plow into the backend of the SUV and it evidentially does not cause error codes. Yes,someone can contact me concerning this. This has happened multiple times. Intermittently.

While driving my 2024 Hyundai Tucson at highway speeds on a clear day with no surrounding traffic, I was startled by an extremely loud bang that sounded like an explosion. Pieces of shattered glass rained down inside the passenger cabin, creating a potentially hazardous situation. This incident was a traumatic experience. The sudden and unexpected event had the potential to cause serious injury to the driver, as well as increase the risk of a collision due to the shock and distraction it caused. Additionally, other pieces of shattered glass were propelled from the vehicle, posing a risk of injury or damage to other drivers on the road. Upon physical inspection, it was noted that the glass from the panoramic sunroof was bowed upwards, which suggests the explosion originated from within the sunroof and NOT an external factor such as road debris or a rock. The vehicle, which is less than a year old, is currently at the Hyundai dealership pending an investigation. Given the severity of the incident and the potential risks to driver and passenger safety, I strongly recommend that a recall be issued or a comprehensive investigation be initiated by the NHTSA to prevent further occurrences of such dangerous incidents. Safety must be a priority, and swift action is necessary to ensure that no other drivers or passengers are at risk of similar events.

My wife and I were slightly injured when the car struck the tree and if the tree wasn’t there it could have continued on the sidewalk and struck a pedestrian or of the houses beyond the tree. •Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No. I reported it to the dealer the day it happened. They said I needed to take it to their service department to be looked at. The facility is closed on weekends – and I will take it in for inspection today, [XXX]. •Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No, it has not. •Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No, there was no warning that indicated there was a problem. After the incident, the car reported the front passenger side parking camera was obscured or broken (this was from the impact with the tree). we bought Tucson 2024 Sel from Stafford Hyundai January 1, 2024. We were happy new vehicle owner and yourself. Sales told us it will be good for at least few years without any problem after four months and 22 days the vehicle started not running call Chantilly service they connected me with the online service and they suggested us to call Roadside assistant and jumpstart. while we talk with them jumpstart vehicle rolled down the driveway the door was open bumped by the carport wall. Luckily the vehicle stop didn’t damage anything behind other houses or anything. The door was damaged. We don’t want this vehicle anymore. We want return or replace. It’s a brand new vehicle and it’s a life safety issue and I have a special son., bad battery after four months and rolled down the driveway, I want to mention the Service Manager instance of empathy he told us nothing last forever have a bad battery after four months and roll down the vehicle is very normal. He mentioned Manager checked the role down, but advisor from service said only repair happened bad battery and also he did inform Hyundai motor corporation. I spoke with the case manager after I spoke with service manager and he said he never spoke with Safford service and no one return his callsl. He tried to call multiple times. Gap communication, and false information is giving to us and we purchased this vehicle from here we do not want this vehicle we want return or replacement, otherwise someone has to sign a bond and saying this is safe to drive. If cause any trouble with my family or big acident or death Safford Hyundai service is reliable for it. They said send it to body shop but they didn’t Thank you so much. Bellow is case created with Hyundai corporation.

The heating system doesn’t work - have yo run at settings well over 80 yo get a modicum of warmth. Each time I took in, they’d give me a loaner and each loaner had same issue. Hyundai corporate claims that’s how it should be. Alerts keep resetting to off when car is turned off. That way since I bought car and never fixed

ODI #11576680EXTERIOR LIGHTING

The rear directionals on my 2024 Hyundai Tucson are only 2 feet off the ground and only about 2 inches wide. At this location and size I believe they can be difficult to see (unsafe) especially if a large truck is following to close to the Tuscon. This is a very uncommon location. Most other vehicles have the rear directionals located with the brake lights which are about 4 feet off the ground.

ODI #11574209FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

My vehicle has been malfunctioning with the automatic emergency brake. A total of 5 times. I am driving down the road going around 50-65 mph I am the only one in my vehicle and all of the sudden it puts the emergency brake on. It’s like someone else takes over my vehicle. Fortunately I have not been rear ended. Nobody has been in front of me when this happens the first time. It is not linked to or to be confused with the collision warning, it is wholly the emergency braking system that is put on with the light stating this & throws me forward into the steering wheel. I towed my vehicle into the Bakersfield Hyundai shop & they have been unable to duplicate my problem with the vehicle. I have lost ALL confidence in my vehicle due to it has done it a total of 5 times and I just got it in September 2023. It has been in the shop for this month. Was taken to them by tow truck on 2/7/24. Was told by tow truck driver that I would be in body bag if it happened again especially in front of a diesel truck. This is either a first of a major recall or a Lemon car. Either way not wanting to get in it again. Needs to be addressed and they can’t do anything about it. I do not have any pictures of my vehicle due to it is an internal issue but I do have the paperwork from the dealership shop.

Serious Safety Hazard: 2024 Hyundai Tucson Power Steering Failures I have had numerous power steering failures while this driving vehicle. During these incidents, the steering wheel is extremely difficult to turn. This is a serious safety hazard which could lead to a severe accident and loss of life. During each incident occurrence, I noted a red steering wheel with an exclamation point was displayed on the dashboard. The power steering function is restored once I have found a safe location to pull the car off the road and then I reset the car by switching it off completely and then starting it again. My local dealer has not been able to duplicate the problem nor determine the root cause. The dealership has escalated the issue to Hyundai America for technical assistance. I currently have an open case with Hyundai Motor America National Consumer Affairs. I have noted similar power steering failure incident reports posted on the NHTSA website for earlier model Hyundai Tuscon vehicles.

The forward collision avoidance system made me have accident. I was driving on the expressway, the forward collision made the car stop abruptly, then accelerate. As I was veering to the right, the car stopped again in the middle of the expressway causing me to have an accident. This is unacceptable and very unsafe. This vehicle is not safe to drive with the collision warnings.

The vehicle continues to leak water into the floor carpet even after a recall was supposed to fix the windshield leak problem for this car. This can cause mold.

A service bulletin for windshields leaking into 2024 Santa Cruz and Tucson vehicles was issued on 11/02/23 from Hyundai, causing passenger side flooding. The length of time these models were exposed to or held water could pose these safety risks: 1 Corrosion of various mechanical and electrical parts from water entry for months that could cause safety risks at a later time. Ex. Certain Hyundai vehicles were recalled in 2006-2015 for fires originating from the ABS system due to liquid leaks and corrosion caused by failing seals and leaking water. The electric systems could short out, spark, and cause a fire, posing a risk even when the car was not in operation. 2 The possibility of the presence of invisible mold spores that grow quickly inside a closed car environment is a serious health risk for those who have a high allergy to mold, allergic asthma, COPD or other lung problems. 3 Some vehicles also experienced water entry from a firewall separation from the windshield. If the firewall is part of the unibody construction and protection for components and passengers, this is concerning. 4 Inadequate or improper repair instructions cause new owner concerns regarding the integrity of their vehicle. A. Hyundai only authorized dealers to “...insert sealant in the area that has been improperly sealed.” An auto water leak tech reported such windshield leaks require a glass company for repairs. The dealer reported around eight other vehicles have experienced the leakage at their shop. I know of no inspections by Hyundai or other service techs but is available. I did not know my car had water in the passenger side for the two months I had it. These models have been exposed to water entry from their manufacture date from this defect that somehow slipped through inspection and quality control. A Hyundai forum reported that some models experienced windshield leaks back in 2020. I am very concerned that this continues to be a cost cutting practice passed on to consumers.

ODI #11551156SEAT BELTS

Due to the design of the middle seat belt receiver it is impossible to install any type of car seat using the seat belt. The receiver is so long, you cannot get the seat belt tight enough to prevent movement of the car seat. There are no anchors for the middle seat either to use the latch system instead of the seatbelt, and anchors cannot be borrowed from the other sides as per the owners manual. Furthermore when a passenger sits in the middle seat, the receiver is on their lap, not down by their hip. This is not only uncomfortable, but I feel like the seat belt is not worn properly. One week after leasing the vehicle I went back to the dealership and was told there was nothing they could do about it. No help was offered. I reached out to Hyundai on my own.

the entire computer system shorted out throughout the entire car. It did not let me select above all of what it affected. The entire car malfunction due to the dealer not doing predelivery inspection. They have the vehicle and have not given me a written explanation or reports as to what happened to cause this. This vehicle was defective and dangerous and should not have been sold.

Chart Analysis

The blue line shows 81 total NHTSA complaints filed over 4 years, with the worst year being 2026 (30 complaints, including 3 crash reports).

The amber reliability line is declining — recent years score around 10/100, lower than earlier in the vehicle's life. This pattern indicates issues are accumulating over time rather than being resolved, which is a concern for used buyers.

The recalls (red dashed lines) were issued in the same year or before complaints peaked, suggesting the manufacturer identified and acted on the defect relatively quickly.

Red dots on the amber line flag 3 years (2024, 2025, 2026) where complaints included crash events — these are the highest-severity incidents in the dataset.
