On 4 seperate occasions, my vehicle has completely shut off in the middle of the road. 3 times this has happened while traveling on the interstate. Every time with my 6 year old son in the car. The steering wheel locks up when it happens and you have to use all of your strength to get out of the road as soon as possible to avoid being smashed by oncoming traffic. On 8 seperate occasions, my vehicle randomly loses the majority of it's power, and takes over 6,000 rpms just to continue at 50mph. The issue fixes itself by the time I try to take it to the dealership and they tell me there is nothing they can do about any of these issues because it "isn't doing it now" - refusing to even look at it. If I don't take no for an answer, they said just a diagnostic will take 48 hours and they do not offer any sort of loaner vehicle. Both of these events happen without warning, at completely random times. Chevrolet service members each give me different advice and non of it is helpful. My car is a death trap. I bought it brand new with 5 miles on it. I had to order it and wait for it to be shipped to me. This has happened throughout the entire life of the vehicle.
The instrument cluster is blacking out again. There was a recall for this issue previously. While driving the instrument cluster along with the radio will go out for a period of time. It happening frequently
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer after the check engine warning light illuminated. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle with an EVAP purge valve failure. The contact was informed that the EVAP purge valve needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000. The VIN was not available.
On December 28, 2025, while driving normally with my children, my 2024 Chevrolet Trax displayed multiple warnings including Engine Power Reduced, Service ESC, Service Stability, and Steering Assist Reduced. The engine began sputtering and knocking. The next morning the vehicle would not start and was towed to Malcolm Cunningham Chevrolet. The dealership found the engine free-wheeling with no compression and denied my warranty claim alleging spark plug tampering. I never touched the engine. It went directly from my driveway to the dealership via tow. An active recall — A242435780, Engine Spark Timing Following Auto Stop Event — was noted on the repair order upon arrival but was not completed until February 17, 2026, seven weeks after the engine failed. GM’s own recall states engine knock and engine damage are the known risks of this unrepaired fault. The dealership told me verbally it was just a console update, directly contradicting GM’s published description. A second dealership performed a compression test showing Cylinder 1 at 10 PSI, Cylinder 2 at 90 PSI, and Cylinder 3 at 0 PSI. Normal compression is 150 to 200 PSI. No diagnostic codes were retrievable. This dealership initially found something different but reversed their position after speaking with the first dealership and receiving direction from GM. GM denied my warranty claim and offered only a 2,000 incentive toward a new vehicle. The vehicle remains completely unrepaired. I continue making monthly payments on a car I cannot drive. This aligns with class action Cook v. General Motors LLC, Case 1:26-cv-00229-RGA, filed March 4, 2026.
I was driving home I got a message on my dash about engine pressure and then heard a loud boom, pulled off on the shoulder called a tow and the guy used to be a mechanic, he stated there was a hole in my engine and that it looked like a rod broke off and shot through the engine, I did take it to a dealership to get a diagnostic and they called and said something happened internally not sure what at this point and time.
My engine failed with no warning on my 2024 Chevy Trax , at night in the express lanes of a very busy expressway in Chicago. I was able to get on an off ramp, but the car then stalled again and I was almost hit by other vehicles trying to exit the ramp. I did call 911 and was told to stay in my car because I would have a "better chance of survival". I had just had the car at the dealership for an oil change and check-up a few weeks before. The dealer explanation was the engine is defective and they replaced the engine, but I have no confidence in this car. I told the dealer and they did not seem to care. I have had nothing but problems with this car, it is a danger to myself and others driving this car.
17k miles, head a loud pop sound, engine light came and all the oil and coolant was on the ground, engine was smoking. Had the vehicle towed and was told by the service department the connecting Rod failed which caused the catastrophic engine failure. According to the service department and GM there is not Estimated time of arrival for an engine replacement and it’s already been a month.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for the windshield wiper blades to be replaced. The contact stated that the mechanic was unable to find aftermarket wiper blades to fit the wiper blade arms due to the design of the wiper blade arm attachment point. The design made it impossible to use an aftermarket wiper parts. The local dealer and the manufacturer were contacted and the contact was informed that the wiper blades were on a national back order. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 12,000.
Digital Dash went Black when I started my vehicle, remained black even when I turned off the vehicle and restarted.
My 2024 Chevy Trax’s engine (1.2L turbocharged I3 engine) went out while driving on the expressway (about 70mph) in the middle to left lane. I had to come to a complete stop and safely and immediately get my car on the left shoulder without injuring myself or others around me. My own safety was severely at risk as I was as close to the dividing wall on the left side as I possibly could be but cars are racing through right next to me. Another safety risk to be added is I was dropped off in the most sketchiest plaza and stranded from 12/1am-3am. I was left to lock myself in my non operating vehicle in a country I do not reside in. Issue was confirmed the following day or two at a dealership I got the car towed to, they found a hole in my engine block due to a rod. And all documents can be provided. Police and blocker trucks were unable to arrive to the scene for 40+ min and the car was fully investigated by GM. There were no engine lights or warnings on the Chevrolet app or car dash. The only thing I can mention is on my last documented oil change, the oil was low due to high consumption, no leaks were located. Dealership also found the fuse box blown, I assume hot oil gushed all over my wire harnesses or the oil switch flipped the sensor which caused further issues, or simply a power surge. Current cause is unknown.
On March 22, 2026, I was driving at approximately 45 mph, and my daughter was in the passenger seat, trying to connect her music to the car radio and the instrument panel (dashboard) screens went completely blank. For several seconds, I had not readings from the dashboard lighting. It went completely black. It then reset itself, much like a computer when you restart it. Within a short time (less than a minute) the instrument panel began working again. This was the third time this has happened to this vehicle. The first time was in July 2024 and the second time in November 2025. Both of those incidents were reported to NHTSA. There had been a software recall for NHTSA 23V744000 for this very problem in 2024 Chevrolet Trax, but my VIN was not included in the safety recall for increased risk of crash. I brought the Trax to the dealership after the third incident. They did a software update on 25-NA-071. I hope this remedies the problem.
I was driving on the highway going around a ramp when I went to press on the brakes to slow down the pedal just went to the floor and the car would not slow down, causing me to go off the road. My insurance company did an inspection and said the accident was caused by engine failure and won’t cover damage. GM did inspection said it wasn’t their fault but won’t release their inspection report
I was driving down the highway going with the flow of traffic and my car caught fire. I was told by the mechanic that “the turbo line combusted and put a hole in the engine” I’ve also been told “oil got on the turbo belt and caught fire” I’ve also been told “the software recall actually had nothing to do with the software and it was an issue with turbos and something was mechanically wrong with this car. I was in the car with my 9 month old daughter. In the middle lane in the highway. The car instantly stopped accelerating leaving us going very slow compared to others. We could’ve been killed! I had to figure out how to get over and then get my daughter out of the car safely and wait on the side of the highway with a baby for fire and police to come put the fire out. When I was driving it sounded like pressure popped under the car and then I could almost hear pieces flying out. And then the dash lights came on telling me to turn the engine off. It was extremely unsafe and now I’m afraid to even drive with my baby in any car.
My wife was driving her car in Maine on a narrow mountain road, it had been snowing and the roads had been plowed and treated but they were slushy and wet this is also a two lane road. She was driving and all of a sudden the warning lights came on and there was an immediate loss of power, she said that a logging truck was behind her and luckily he was paying attention or else he would have ran her over she could not accelerate and she could only go about 15 mph. There are no shoulders to pull off the road so she put on her flashers and drove it barely to a little gas station to pull off the road to call me. We had it towed to the closet Chevy dealership who had it for 39 days replacing the motor that had blown up, the dealership said that the #1 piston or rod broke and destroyed the engine. The car had only 28k miles on it and there were no motors to be found, they did after 39 days replace the motor and turbo in the car. Mine and her concern is with this immediate loss of power on these types of roads she could've been in an accident or even worse, there has to be answers as to why this happened and what is the long term solution to r his issue. We have seen on the GM forums of this happening to other Chevy Traxs vehicles. I do have the repair paperwork from the dealership.
Automatic headlight sensor flashes lights on and off even during sunny days
My car sometimes has a hard time catching a gear during acceleration and jerks hard when letting off the gas pedal. It has done it since I purchased my car brand new in November 2023. I've had the car in the shop numerous times since I've purchased it. For a variety of issues.
My noise cancelation malfunctioned from the first month of of purchasing it 11/2023. It took two years numerous dealership visits, update after update. I filed a lemon law claim. I had a GM claim. No one could fix it. They told me I could do 3 things. Update again, cut the wires (which of course voids the entire warranty) or have them disconnected (if they could even be disconnected). I finally found a dealership in Cayuga, Indiana that fixed the problem by actually disconnecting the noise cancelation. It got so loud you couldn't even hear anyone talking in the car. It gave anyone a headache if they ride more than 30 minutes at a time. The noise cancelation wouldn't shut off. It just sounded like
When it is too windy or rains my blindspot warning light will indicate there is something there when there isn't. I'm unsure of when I really started to notice it and watch for it to occur
It was about [XXX] {XXX} I was driving about seventy five miles an hour down [XXX] heading north to milwaukee, and there was a loud bang, and it seemed like the car went in reverse. And then it just stopped right on the road.I had to get off of the road.I and it said there was there was a message on the dashboard engine power reduced. My oil life was at sixty four percent at the time. And then it said, check oil pressure when I went into the dashboard.I sat on the side of the road and had it towed to lead chevrolet INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
I purchased the vehicle back in June of 2023, brand new, fresh off the lot and from then the issue began. I had a leak in the fuel line and the engine blew. That was all fixed. But the main issue was the loud vibrating noise that the service department tried to correct multiple times and couldn’t tell where it was coming from. Diagnostics were ran and the vehicle was in the shop multiple times because the noise was unbearable. I took it to 2 dealership service centers to see if anyone could locate it. From both service centers and other sales rep, the 2024 Chevrolet Trax 1RS has this issue and no matter the updates and corrections that were attempted it couldn’t be corrected. I submitted a complaint to corporate where they decided to send a “technician” from their office. Only the tech could not duplicate the issue but everyone else could. Because of that the buy back option was off the table and I was given a 2,000 certificate for another car, I still owed 21k for the trax. GM/Chervrolet technician failed to properly diagnose an issue that is common with those specific vehicles and now I am being ignored and looking for assistance
My 2024 Chevrolet Trax which has 51,000 miles on it recently developed what appear to be a low end engine knock. This was accompanied by an increased vibration and shakiness in the car. While trying to bring the car to the dealer for inspection in preparation for a incoming snow storm the vehicle which at the time was parked on a hill seemed sluggish and struggling move forward. I felt with road conditions and the noise becoming louder and accelerating as the vehicle accelerates that the safer option was to have the vehicle towed to the dealer. This car despite having 51,000 miles with more than 85% of those being highway travel, has been regularly maintained above what the manufacturer recommends. Ive since learned through others who own the same vehicle that around the same mileage they have had the exact same issue with a few having an official diagnosis of failed rod bearing requiring a full engine replacement. Many of these incidents including mine did not prompt any warning light on the dashboard. Upon here that I came across multiple complaints of individuals Chevrolet Trax with the 1.2l engine completely throwing rods some while driving at highways speeds, and even after engine replacements some report they replacement engine did the same thing. Some of these reports date back to as early as 2020 with this engine being used in the Trailblazer. Its a matter of time before this blatant issue causes engine failure at high speeds and resulting in a accident with injuries or fatalities, not including the financial issues this has on anyone buying a marketed “”affordable” vehicle if this happens outside of warranty. GM must already be aware of this issue yet it continues to persist especially on the back of ongoing lawsuits over their engines excessive oil consumption and failures. My dealer has now had the car for two days and has failed to call me or return mall calls on my vehicles issue. Im assuming based on others situation it is another case of bad bearings.
Vehicle randomly shuts down for few seconds and then restarts - occasionally it will not restart the engine and I have to manually turn the key. This occurs when I am driving and is a safety hazard. I have had battery checked several time and it always passes - I was directed to open a ticket for a recall - as this issue is known with other Chevy's. A couple times it occurred while turning the corner - luckily no accident occurred.
We have a 2024 Chevrolet Trax purchased in July 2024, brand new with 6 miles. On Jan 9, 2026, we towed it to Serra Chevrolet for service due to repetitive screen blackouts and the inability to start the car. On Jan 16, 2026, we picked up the car. The car was diagnosed with a radiator leak, a replacement of the high-pressure fuel pump, and an update to the information system. Within two hours, the car would not start again, and we had it towed back to the dealer. We have been told that it now requires an entirely new engine, and we have been renting a car since January 9th, with no reasonable solutions from the dealer or GM Customer Care. We have also been informed that the engine is on backorder, and we have no timeline for its repair.
I was driving on the highway at 60 miles per hourn, my car started shaking, my oil and engine light came on, if felt like little rock were hitting under my car and my car went out. I feared for my life. I was able to pull over on the median. When the tow truck came, the tow guy said my engine blew. I just had my oil changed by the dealer 12/26/2025.
I have been taking my 2024 Chevy Trax to jiffy Lube since I had it and they noted that my oil was low on had no oil on stick and another time had quart low I didnt that this chevy trax was using that much oil between oil changes the oil light did never show up It ran out of oil and engine blew even though I was changing oil every 4000 miles the vehicle is now setting at Gregg young chevy 17750 Burt St Omaha NE 68118 needing a new engine that cost $6700 I would say there is a defect with this engine loosing that much oil between oil changes
The issue involves the upper corners of all four door frames on my 2024 Chevrolet Trax, which are extremely sharp. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. On approximately May 13, 2024, and again on August 16, 2025, my passenger in the front seat was struck in the face by the sharp door frame corner, while exiting the vehicle. In both incidents, the corner cut my passenger's cheek below the eye, resulting in small open wounds, which needed to be cleaned and disinfected. The problem has occurred twice under normal use. I reported the first incident to General Motors (GM) on May 15, 2024, but did not receive a response. On Sept 22, 2025, I reported the second incident that occurred on Sept 2, 2025, to GM, at which time they asked several questions and requested photos of my vehicle, which I provided. On Sept 22, 2025, GM requested I take my vehicle to my dealership, J.B.A. Chevrolet, for inspection. I took my vehicle to JBA on Sept 29, 2025, and was told that GM wanted photos of my vehicle, as well as photos of another 2024 Trax on the Lot for comparison. At that time, JBA had to wait for another vehicle to come in. Unknown if JBA or GM attempted to reproduce the issue during an inspection. On Oct 24, 2025, GM telephoned and issued a final determination, which I requested in writing and received on Nov 11, 2025. GM stated that because the design was consistent across Trax vehicles, and based on the facts provided, they were unable to assume responsibility for damages and suggested I resolve the issue with my insurance company. I did not ask for damages, I asked for corrective measures to avoid future injuries. I submitted a request for reconsideration on Dec 2, 2025. On Dec 16, 2025, a totally different GM office contacted me, which did not yield any results. Although the injuries were minor, the repeated nature of the harm indicates a foreseeable risk to future passengers and to other Trax owners. Uploading 10 pages in PDF format
The contact's father owns a 2024 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and making a left, she observed a noise emanating from under the vehicle that sounded like loose gravel, and she observed smoke outside of the "turn off ignition" message displayed. The contact stated that she observed white/grey smoke coming through the vents in the cabin of the vehicle. The vehicle was turned off, and when the contact exited the vehicle, she observed fire under the engine compartment, and the fire spread rapidly. The fire department distinguished the fire. The police reported the incident, but there was no report taken. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was deemed inoperable. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure was 7,696.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle was jerking while depressing the accelerator pedal. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact also stated that while driving at various speeds, the instrument panel intermittently went blank. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed with a defective valve body and torque converter. The contact retrieved the vehicle, and the failure returned immediately upon exiting the parking lot. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and remained with the dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and the contact was referred to the dealer for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 1,900.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated that while driving 50 MPH and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle lost motive power. The contact was able to safely get the vehicle to the right side of the road and noticed smoke coming from the engine. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the turbocharger had failed and caused a leak coming from the engine. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and the contact was informed that the warranty had expired, but offered no assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 66,000.
The engine failed at approximately 44,000 miles. The vehicle uses a wet timing belt engine design, where the timing belt runs inside the engine oil. The engine suddenly stopped working and now requires a full engine replacement. This failure happened much earlier than expected for a modern vehicle and could be a safety risk if the engine fails while driving.
For the past 3 to 6 months I've been hearing a gear backlash sound while using the adaptive cruise control when it would slow down for a car in front of the vehicle then when it would start to speed up. Brought the vehicle to the dealership on October 20th, 2025. They said that the sound is normal and there's a service bulletin that says its normal in other Chevy models. Then on November 28th, 2025 I was driving home, turn right at a light, and started to accelerate. Then I heard the same backlash noise as before then the check engine light came on with the oil light. I pulled over immediately and turned off the engine just to see all the oil spilling out of the engine compartment onto the ground and white smoke. Got it towed to the dealership and they told me that "the engine had multiple components fail inside it and that I need a new engine assembly." Currently the engine is still in the vehicle awaiting a new engine assembly what is currently on backorder with no expected arrival time.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the passenger's side mirror blind spot detection system failed to operate. The message "Side Detection Temporarily Unavailable" was displayed. A dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the failure had occurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed, but the diagnostic information was unknown. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that it was an unknown failure. The approximate failure mileage was 29,953.
Serra Chevy has my trax. A mechanic checked it it is blown engine. No time frame for an engine. I believe a fail msg flashed after engine failed all systems stopped i pulled to side of road oil pouring out from under my vehical. I was driving on expressway (approx 70 mi per hour) approx 1 1/2 hour drive to dinner theater 120 miles away. I was 5 mins away from destination. I paid 120.00 plus ins covered miles towed. No fires just whitish grey smoke from engine...I was shocked my new car was failing.
I was driving at a low rate of speed after leaving my house and the instrument panel (dashboard) screens went completely blank. It was as if the computer system was resetting/rebooting. Within a few seconds, the instrument panel screen started working again and I could see the instrument panel readings. It was unnerving as I had my daughter with me. This is the second time the instrument panel has gone completely blank. The first time was in July 2024, and I filed a report with NHTSA in complaint number 11677778. That complaint generated no recall for my vehicle even though there is a recall NHTSA ID: 23V744000 for 2024 Chevrolet Trax vehicles with the same problem I have now have had twice. Since this problem has occurred twice, and there is already a recall on 2024 Trax vehicles for the problem I am reporting, there is an electrical system issue that should be corrected as it is clearly a safety issue.
Since the vehicle was purchased, the driver seat's height has slowly been lowering itself over time. After a typical week of driving over an hour per day, the seat is noticeably lower (~2 inches) than when I started. I can raise the height manually again, but this process repeats itself, becoming quite annoying. I brought the vehicle to the dealership, but they claim they were unable to recreate the issue. I called the customer support phone number (800-222-1020) and the rep stated he could not help me further since no service bulletin about the issue could be found. Call reference # XXX.
My car has been to the dealership over three times to have my digital dominator and my touchscreen looked at as a blackout in the middle of driving I could be using GPS or just talking on Bluetooth and it kicks it back onto my phone then I’m becoming a distracted driver because I have to use my GPS and now I have to pick up my phone and look at my phone until it decides to pick back up on my screen My screen would blackout. This has been three years of dealing with us. General Motors still has no solution to it refused to do a buyback in my car offered me an extra warranty on electrical components but that you can’t even figure out what the issue is. I’m paying almost $700 for a car that I have nothing but issues with.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the instrument panel cluster delayed to display the gauges. The contact stated while driving approximately 30 MPH, the instrument cluster turned black. The contact called an unknown local dealer and was advised to take the vehicle in for a diagnostic test. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and transferred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V744000(Electrical System); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 58,000.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Trax. My engine Light came on said I loss power car felt like I couldn't get up to speed . when I took it to the dealership they said my wastegate is cracked and I need a new turbo assembly my car has 76k miles & of course warranty expired at 75K said it will cost $2600 to repair
While accelerating from a tertiary road (45mph) to a highway (60mph), the engine suddenly produced a loud rhythmic clacking sound that increased in frequency based on rpms. No warnings or check engine light was activated. No increase in temp or change to oil pressure was noted. The vehicle was driven approximately 6 miles with no change in the sound. Vehicle was parked and sat for 2 hours. Vehicle was restarted. Sound continued. Vehicle was driven for approximately .3 miles when a warning came across the dash and an alarm sounded. It indicated no oil and to immediately halt driving. Continued for an additional .3 miles to a safe pull off point and parked the car. The oil level was checked and the dipstick measurement indicated a full oil reservoir. The following day the vehicle was towed to IG Burton Chevrolet in Lewes DE. Due to scheduling the vehicle was not diagnosed for 1 week. Initially the diagnosis was a faulty oil pump. Upon further exploration metal components were found within the oil pump that fell into it from the engine. The service department determined that a full engine replacement was required and would covered under warranty.
My speaker are blown out. They make a rumble noise when I’m driving doesn’t matter my speed.
The OEM Hankook Dynapro HP2 tires (size 225/60R17 99H, DOT 15MJF BU HA 2523) installed on a 2024 Chevrolet Trax developed premature tread wear and sidewall weakness well before half of their rated 65,000-mile life. At approximately 33,900 miles, one tire suffered a nail puncture in the sidewall and was confirmed irreparable by Discount Tire in Houston, TX. The shop also noted uneven tread wear consistent with early degradation. The condition creates an elevated risk of tire failure or blowout during regular driving. The tires have been properly maintained at recommended pressure, used under normal conditions, and never abused. No TPMS warnings or visual damage were noted before the incident. Hankook Tire America was contacted for warranty support but denied all coverage, citing an OEM exclusion despite earlier correspondence indicating potential incentive coverage. The company declined inspection or goodwill replacement. This outcome raises concerns about premature wear, sidewall durability, and the adequacy of manufacturer support for OEM-supplied tires. The affected tires remain available for inspection if requested by NHTSA.

•The instrument cluster in front of the driver seat went all black. Wouldn't show lane assistance icon, rpms, speedometer, turn signals, warning lights, adaptive speed control. It would show when I clicked the auto stop on/off button if the auto start was turned on or off. Currently is still installed on vehicle. I'm going to the dealership tomorrow after work to see what they will do. •Safety of myself by not knowing what speed I'm going or if any warning lights turn on including the brake warning light or the tcs light. Safety of others is the same as safety for myself. •so far the problem is intermittent for me. It happened for the first time today after I left the store, then got home and restarted the engine and it still was a completely black instrument panel. Then I turned it off and disconnected the battery and reconnected it and the instrument panel currently is working again after that. •the component hasn't been inspected by anyone yet but I'm bringing it to the dealership after I get off work. •there were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problems prior to the failure. I don't know if there were any when it first appeared because the instrument panel is the problem...

The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Trax. The contact had received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V744000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); and the vehicle was taken to a local dealer where the recall repair was performed; however, the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the instrument panel was blank and failed to display the speedometer. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the battery was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 41,000.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated that upon parking the vehicle on a downward angle, there was an abnormal popping sound coming from the engine. There was no warning light illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that the infotainment screen intermittently went blank while driving at various speeds. The contact stated that on one occasion, while driving 50 MPH and entering a highway, there was a banging sound coming from the vehicle, with white smoke coming from the engine. There was no warning light illuminated. Due to the failure, the contact immediately pulled over and had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and the vehicle was towed to a dealer. While at the dealer, the vehicle was diagnosed with engine failure. The contact was then informed that the engine was on backorder, and the vehicle remained with the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 19,000.
I purchased the vehicle Oct. 19, 2023. I use the vehicle likely more than 99% of other owners. I drive for Amazon flex and had 54546 miles when I did my last oil change. I have changed the oil every 5000-7500 miles, including changing air filters regularly and spark plugs at 50,000. I also have always used higher quality oils from Mobil1 and ACDelco in the engine. This past weekend, a check engine light appeared and reduced power was noticed. The following day after restarting the car, the check engine light went away. It came back the following morning on the way to work, and went away after restarting in the afternoon. Code P0325 was the DTC for a knock sensor fault. During this time the MIL was illuminated, a slight metallic rattle sound was present at certain RPMs, but not loud or consistent. The same day after the last oil change and after delivering when going to moderatly accelerate to highway speeds, a sound characterized as a loud pop and bang occurred and smoke started flooding out of the engine. Reduced engine power and check engine lights appeared on the dash and the screens when black. I immediately braked and pulled to the side of the highway, where coolant and oil were flooding the side of the road. The vehicle is currently at the dealership where it was purchased, where I am expecting the “Total Engine Faliure” diagnosis.
Purchased the 2024 Trax in April 2024 and immediately received a critical engine and transmission notification the same day we took delivery. Returned the vehicle to the dealership and was told it was an faulty oil sensor issue, which they took care of. The car now has ~9,500 miles and the engine failed yesterday. While accelerating on the freeway, we heard a loud pop, saw smoke coming from the engine and tail pipe, the engine light and oil light came on, and a message on the dashboard said to turn off the engine immediately. The engine seized and began leaking all of the oil/fluid out onto the pavement. We had to pull onto the left shoulder of the freeway because the engine seized, which is extremely dangerous (the tow truck driver was nearly hit trying to load the vehicle onto the flatbed tow truck). The Trax had just been serviced at a local dealership for scheduled maintenance (oil and filter change, tire rotation and 27-point vehicle Inspection) on Friday, August 8th. The car was towed back to the same dealership, at which time we were informed that a rod was loose inside the engine and created a hole, which caused the engine to run on 2 cylinders and fail. The dealer claims the damage is unrelated to the recent oil change and confirmed that they did NOT inspect the engine during the scheduled maintenance appointment. We pay for OnStar and receive monthly vehicle health reports. Besides the critical engine and transmission notice we received when we first picked up the vehicle and a recall notice - which we had resolved - there have been no other messages or symptoms before yesterday's engine failure. The vehicle is still at the dealership and we are waiting to hear how this situation will be resolved.
When my daughter and I were driving on the highway, the dash lights completely went out while driving at over 60 miles per hour. It was a scary experience. The dash lights came back on a few seconds later. This occurred in July 2024. I brought the vehicle into the dealership on July 23, 2024. I was informed there were no recalls on the vehicle and a computer scan of the vehicle revealed no problem codes. I was told since it is a new vehicle, it might just be a glitch in the system and to bring it in if there are any further problems. When I recently searched for recalls on 2024 Chevrolet Trax, I saw NHTSA ID: 23V744000 which addresses the issue I experienced. When I went to the dealership, I was informed that my specific vehicle (using the VIN) was not identified for recall. I expressed my concern because my daughter drives this car and the recall announcement indicates when the instrument panel goes blank, there is an increased risk of a crash, which I agree with. I would like to be included with the 2024 Chevrolet Trax vehicles already under recall for the experience I had when the car's instrument panel went blank. It is dangerous and I especially do not want my 18 year old daughter driving if it occurs again.
The chrome trim reflects the sunlight directly into the drivers eyes anytime the sun is overhead. The sun visors are no help. This can cause temporary blindness. Suggest Chevrolet replace the chrome with a subdued color.
The vehicle shut off completely while driving twice in 24 hours. Lost all power, brakes locked up, first incident on July 26, 2025. Vehicle did restart after and was able to drive home. Would not start, had no power on July 26, 2025. Tow truck came, jump started the vehicle. I pulled out of my driveway to take it to the dealer for service of issue, vehicle shut off as soon as I pressed the brake to stop at a stop sign and lost all power again. Brakes also locked up again after the vehicle lost power. Tow truck transported vehicle to the dealer from there.
The dash design has a high gloss smooth painted surface with highly polished aluminum trim. The dash is at an angle that reflects light badly blinding the driver. Because the dash is at a similar angle on a large area, sometimes it’s impossible to position your hand to block all of the glare. It’s extremely dangerous when conditions are right. The polished aluminum should be overlaid with a semi gloss plastic trim and the paint needs coated with a clear matting agent to make them safe.
Complete Bluetooth failure. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto constantly disconnect. Has happened since driving off of the lot.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power. The contact was able to pull over to the shoulder of the roadway, where the failure persisted. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the engine and observed a crack on the engine block. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (Engine and Engine Cooling), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 30,000.
I was on the expressway and going the speed limit at 70mph and I get an engine light and a message that says Engine power is reduced. I had to quickly get over and was almost hit because it wasn’t wanting to stay at speed. I was unable to go over 55mph. It was very dangerous situation.I drove to the next exit and called dealership and made appt for the following Monday. I get the car home and we put the ODMI reader on it and it says air intake problems. My car is at 28,882 miles there is no reason the turbo has already gone out.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power. The contact pulled over safely and was able to restart the vehicle and continued driving. While driving and making a turn, the vehicle turned off. The vehicle was restarted. The contact stated that while pulling into the driveway, the vehicle shut off unintendedly. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to restart. The contact stated that the following day, the vehicle restarted. The contact stated while driving for three blocks on a three-lane street, the vehicle stalled in traffic. The vehicle restarted and the contact continued driving. The contact stated that the ABS, the braking system, security, park, and traction control failure messages were displayed and flashing. The contact called the local dealer and scheduled an appointment. The manufacturer was contacted and scheduled a tow. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.
The instrument panel goes blank while driving.
Wiper blades are falling apart, less than a year old. No generic store brand will fit bracket and all wiper blades replacements are on back order.
Check engine light came on 5/22/25 sitting idle when I went on lunch at 1:00 pm. I left work and came home at 5:00 pm and made it home safely not sure what the failure is yet I will call the dealer in the morning. Car only has 28,000 miles on it and should not already be having engine issues. Also has dramatic drop in gas mileage.
My engine suffered catastrophic engine failure with less than 14,000 miles. I was travelling at highway speeds on a busy highway in rush hour. I heard what sounded like an explosion, lost all power, and had to steer across two lanes where I just made it onto the shoulder of the highway. The car was towed to the dealer who confirmed the catastrophic engine failure. There was absolutely no warning, no warning lights, no messages at all, I was driving and heard what sounded like an explosion and lost all power.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated that the rubber trim had detached from the front windshield wipers. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact called the dealer, who confirmed the parts were on backorder. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 41,000. The VIN was not available.
At random times and unexpectedly, my Onstar system drops completely, resulting in Onstar losing communication with my vehicle. This creates a hazard, as I am at risk of being in a collision and Onstar not being able to be notified
My car shuts down completely and everything goes black while I’m driving. Did it twice while I was driving on a busy highway. I almost got hit twice.
I am reporting a serious safety concern with my 2024 Chevrolet Trax, purchased on [XXX]. Within three weeks, I experienced a malfunction where the infotainment screen began glitching, and the audio volume surged to maximum without warning. I was unable to control the volume or turn off the system, forcing me to pull over and restart the vehicle to stop the distraction. This issue has recurred multiple times, creating a significant distraction and making me feel unsafe while driving. The loud, uncontrollable audio and erratic screen behavior divert my attention from the road, increasing the risk of an accident. I reported the problem to the dealership in June 2024. They acknowledged the issue but stated that no fix was available as GM had not developed the necessary software update. I was advised to wait for an update. Throughout the winter of 2025, the problem worsened. Despite repeated inquiries, the dealership informed me that no solution was available. In April 2025, I returned the vehicle to the dealership, but they still could not resolve the issue. The service manager recommended I report the problem to the NHTSA and contact GM customer service. I did so on April 11, 2025, and a case was opened. However, as of today, there is still no resolution. This ongoing problem is more than an inconvenience; it poses a safety risk by creating a distracting and uncontrollable environment while driving. Started car four times with no dashboard lights. The screen was blocked out. No speedometer or anything just black.
The contact owned a 2024 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated that while his girlfriend was driving through an intersection at 20 MPH, another vehicle ran a red light and crashed into the vehicle, causing a T-bone impact. The air bags did not deploy upon impact. The other driver was treated for an arm injury(arm unknown) by paramedics on the scene. The next morning, the contact's girlfriend went to a doctor, where she was treated for both back and neck pain. A police report was filed, and no property damage was reported. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was deemed a total loss. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle was destroyed. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
Electronic dashboard goes out while driving often and the radio. This has happened on several occasions. This is not safe for my teens.
While driving vehicle on the Interstate without warning the engine failed. When this occurred the vehicle was being driven at 65 MHP and a strong vibration began that was felt through the steering wheel. Additionally, the vehicle was in the inside lane and had to be maneuvered to get over and to the shoulder. The vehicle was towed to the dealership that it was purchased from which was approximately 150 miles from the breakdown. Dealer indicates a similar issue which I just read about today regarding a Chevy vehicle recall for bearings/cylinder issue. I am submitting this as I believe this recent recall that was announced may involve more Chevy models than were listed. We have been without the vehicle for over 2 months at this time. We have been informed that there are no engines available. This could also be tied to the other engine issue.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the stabili-trak system warning light illuminated. The stabili-trak not functioning, the engine, and steering was reduced. The vehicle was violently shaking and rumbling while driving. The information screen went black while driving. Intermittently, the rear driver's side window was inoperable. The service tire monitoring system was illuminated. Service side-detection system was displayed. The Lane Keep Assist not available warning light was illuminated. The adaptive control temporarily not available message was displayed. The contact called the dealer, who completed a software update and informed the contact that the vehicle might reset after restarting. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 1,000.
I was in a auto accident where I was hit at a high speed on my passenger front side resulting in my airbags to deploy along with my seatbelt failing to hold me in the seat where the seatbelt became fully extended and unlatched and won’t retract back into place resulting in me having a perforated small intestine and colon damage. I had to have trauma surgery to repair my small intestine where I had 22 staples in my stomach and a hospital stay of 5 days as a result. Vehicle has not been inspected by an inspector, but was inspected by adjuster with auto insurance which stated they felt the seatbelt failed. A lawyer wouldn’t take the case to look further into the vehicle. The vehicle was on hold with the insurance agency but will be released for auction shortly. Since purchasing the vehicle, there has been numerous issues, including driver side window, not rolling down radio staying on while the car is shut off and door open and Bluetooth issue along with jerking of vehicle in motion.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the instrument cluster failed to function as intended. The contact stated that the instrument cluster displayed a black screen. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The contact stated that the instrument cluster software was updated in 2023 under an unknown recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 37,357.
Sunroof keeps popping up when trying to close it, the radio defaults to original settings and won’t play will only play Apple CarPlay. And the instrument panel was black while driving.
Wipers from the dealer are on back order in some cases and in the cases that they do have they they are trash wipers streaks and smears that just block visibility in snow and heavy rain additionally the arm attachment is completely different than any wiper attachment so you cannot get wipers from any auto part stores
There are NO wiper blades available for the 2025 Chevy Trax. It utilizes a unique and propertiary wiper arm that accepts no brand of commercially available wiper blades and the OEM Wiper Blades have been "Sold Out" as long as the vehicle has been available. I've been reduced to using a wiper blade sharpener and universal wiper blade refills just to maintain basic visibility in rainy conditions. Multiple 2025 Trax owners are reporting this issue online: [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
OEM windshield wipers are failing after only 7000 miles of light use. Wipers smear the water across windshield making visibility extremely poor. There are zero compatible aftermarket wipers that fit the wiper arm. I have visited 3 auto parts stores and none fit. OEM replacements from dealerships are on long back order. I either have to try to use wipers that may fly off during use because the proprietary wiper arm design isn’t compatible with any aftermarket wipers or wait months for another set of poor quality OEM wipers.
My touch screen and odometer. They periodically go black while driving . This is a safety hazard to me and my family . Yes this affects the safety of my family due to the screens over heating and going black where I can’t see speed or anything . Yes the car has been taken to dealer ship for many issues I have had .no it has not only the dealership .no signals at all
Brake System malfunctioned. Brakes making horrible grinding noise at 25000 miles. Took to dealership under warranty and was told "that is just the sound that GM brakes make" and they refused warranty repair. Assured noise wouldnt worse, but continued. Paid to have brakes replaced and the SAME exact noise continues today. Brake fluid leaked everywhere and totally disabled the entire braking system while driving on the interstate. When the brakes went out, i loss power and it was difficult to steer. Tried receiving assistance from Chevrolet on many occasions until i gave up Car flashed a message suggesting vehicle was experiencing loss of power while driving down interstate, cleared the message and vehicle power remains weak. Code suggested turbo was going out. Car honks 2-3-4 times while in park only 5 minutes. Oil has to be changed constantly. Last oil change took 2 weeks before now having only 81% oil life. Forward collision warning warns when nothing is in front or around you. Lane keeping assistance cuts in and out and doesn't always work. Backup camera shows upside down often, and distorted. ECM warranty reset has been completed. Lane departure warning signals hazard where there is none and sometimes lane keeping assistance disallows me to remain in the middle of my lane so i have to cut it off. interior and exterior lights and radio have remained on for hours after locking vehicle and going inside my house.
An air duct above the brake pedal came loose from the heater and dropped down over the pedals. My wife said she could not get the car to stop at an intersection. The car rolled to a stop in the middle of the road and she could not get it to go as the accelerator was also blocked. A police officer pushed it off the road.
On Tues 11/19/24, my son left home about 10 mins prior headed back to school in our 2024 Chevy Trax purchased in 5/2023. On his way to school, he and his friend heard a loud pop sound, followed by all the lights on the instrument panel flickering like crazy, smoke coming from under the hood, and then the car slowing to a stop, still in the road. Luckily they were able to get out because all the doors, except the driver door, locked including the trunk. The smoke got worse until it caught on fire. Good Samaritans stopped to help my 17 yo son and his friend and there was an off duty responder that turned around to put out the fire with the extinguisher he had on him, ahead of the fire department arriving on scene. This could have been very detrimental and had a very different outcome and GM/Chevy need to make sure this doesn’t happen to another family. This car was serviced and had very low mileage of less than 12k in 1.5years.
Infotainment and dashboard system lags, freezes, loses connection and completely blacks out while a device connects to the vehicles WiFi.
Currently the Intrument Cluster and the Infotainment screens reboots roughly every 60 seconds. The screens would go black then reboots. Would temporary loose speed indicator as well as all other functions.
Passenger speaker went out and the dealership won't do anything until a recall happens
My wife was driving to work and a car cut in front of her stopped for some weird reason on a green light and with the automatic braking the car stopped and was driving 20mph to 0 mph this was not i deal for the emergency braking and this should slow your car but not violently brake my daughter could have been seriously hurt thank god I have a good car seat
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the brakes failed to respond as needed. The contact also stated that while attempting to open the doors, the contact heard an abnormal sound, and the radio was independently activated. The vehicle was driven to the dealer, and it was diagnosed that the software needed to be updated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 34,000.
While driving at approximately 60mph, the engine suffered a catastrophic failure. According to the licensed Chevy service repair shop, the engine “threw a rod that resulted in a hole in the engine block.” The car immediately lost power while driving on the highway with my wife and young child. The result of this scenario was lucky enough to avoid serious injury.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact became aware that the instrument panel was inoperable. The contact stated that the rearview camera randomly turned on while driving. The contact also became aware that the instrument panel would turn off unexpectedly while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 16,400.
The air-conditioning is not working confirmed by Chevy dealer. First time I was told it need refrigerant/freon; worked for approximately 2 weeks and then brought to another Chevy dealer and was told the AC Evaporator needed to be replaced. The AC Evaporator that needs to be replaced has been on order since 7/9/2024. We have had heatwave upon heatwave and still no part. I have a compliant in with GM and they have no date as to when the part will be made or where the order stands. Every week I get the same message "I am not seeing any status change. We are still experiencing a delay on the AC Evaporator". They have used the excuse of COVID and strike (which strike was 6 weeks). But we no longer have COVID or the strike. This is going on for two months. How many other AC evaporators are being made? I am sure the new cars are getting them. I can still drive vehicle, however in the afternoon hours it is extremely hot and I hope I don't pass out on way home. This is a safety concern.
I was driving on [XXX]. The engine lights came on and the message said to basically shut the car off. I was going 70 MPH. I slowed down and pulled over. I heard a loud bang as the car started smoking. Oil and coolant leaked out over the road, there were pieces of a frayed belts and a broken bolt near the car. I had it towed 50 miles to the dealer (Serpentini Chevy) that i bought the car from. They told me that the rod blew and that the engine is shot. They are searching for a new engine and cant guarantee that it wont happen again. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Running day lights flicker as well as the emergency lights on "Auto Day Light setting". I was driving in the daytime, and I had two people honk at me because they thought I was trying to get their attention with my lights. The cars behind me also looked concerned since the emergency lights were turning on and off.
Chevy Trax has chrome in the interior that reflects the sun and causes blinding effects making the car difficult to control during sunny days. Causes driver to look away creating safety hazard.
AC not working causing internal temperatures to be in excess of 105 degrees in the cabin during summer days in Florida. I am not longer able to transport child as well as myself because it causes us to get heat exhaustion making us ill. Reason for failure is so common apparently on newest generation of Chevy Trax that their is a national back order with no date of resolution. I am no longer able to use the car during the afternoon. Chevy has no resolution.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the daytime running lights was continuously blinking off and on, creating a visibility hazard for both the driver and oncoming motorist. Additionally, the OnStar feature intermittently malfunctioned, and the driver was unable to communicate. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 100.
Ambient light sensor malfunctioned on my 2024 Trax. It would flicker on and off in daylight when in the auto lighting headlight mode. After checking Reddit, many other owners are having the same issue. Chevrolet bulletin 24-an-001 has a direct fix. Avoiding flashing other drivers is important, as this indicates imminent danger is near.
The affected component is the design of the cruise control engagement button, and yes it is available for inspection. While the vehicle is below a certain (unknown) speed, if the cruise control engagement button is pressed, the cruse control engages at a relatively high rate of speed, and the vehicle lurches forward. This is especially problematic due to the design of the switch, which is a protruded lever-type mechanism that is easily swiped while the steering wheel turns. Due to this design, a significant risk is posed for injury and fatal accidents. I have had several instances where this has occurred and I was forced to react quickly to avoid an accident. And I've only owned the vehicle for 9 months. This problem seems to be inherent in the design, and is likely reproducible on any 2024 Chevy Trax, and perhaps other Chevy models with the same design. This vehicle has never been inspected. There are no warning lamps or other symptoms, besides the design of the cruise control system. This has happened since I bought the car brand new from the dealership.
Instrument panel went black and radio went black after starting up car or while driving. Will get stuck in a loop of turning on and off while driving after 5 min returns back to normal.
On [XXX] our nearly brand new ICE Chevy Trax spontaneously caught on fire and was destroyed. The check engine light had come on on May 30 and we had, as the manual said we should, set an appointment with our dealer to check it out. It was not flashing and the car was running fine. My wife took two of our grandkids out on [XXX] and drove a few miles doing kid things. Then I took the car for an 8-mile round trip and came home, parking in our driveway. The only unusual thing I noticed was that when I set the parking brake I did not hear the usual sound that function makes. About 15 minutes later my wife screamed that her car was smoking. I ran out and tried to get the garden hose to water the engine compartment, which the smoke was coming from, and growing quickly. Water didn't go down below the hood well and the paint started smoking then blistering. I tried to get water into the engine compartment from under the car but could not, and nothing was burning under the car that I could see at that point. (I could not discern the under-hood source of the original fire.) Then flames appeared and I had to back off. We had called 911 at once, of course, and the Saline fire department arrived and put the fire out with their big hose. By that time the entire engine compartment was destroyed, the windshield smashed, and both front tires had exploded. Note that there was a 15-20 mph wind blowing from the rear to the front of the car. Otherwise a nice day. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Headlights are flickering and blinking intermittently along with the green headlight indicator blinking in gauge cluster. Seems like the automatic headlight sensor is unable to detect outer darkness level and fails to keep headlights on or off. Issue happens in sunny and partially cloudy days after the car exposed to sun for 5-10 minutes depending on the strenght of sunlight. This seriously confuse the drivers of incoming traffic especially in the crossings and intersections as blinking headlights means "i give you way" and may lead to accidents and other incidents.
The car only have 4700 milles and the check engine light comes, I use a obd2 reader and the code P146D appear. Checking this code it’s associated to a old recall in others cars including the Chevy Trax years 2020 and up N232395300 bulletin I would like Chevrolet take responsibility for this recall it’s old and continue using parts with problems
I was driving on a busy expressway. My Trax began to lose power then there was a loud explosive sound and a cloud of black smoke. The Trax continued to lose power as I navigated across several lanes of traffic to the shoulder. There was oil everywhere. I was stranded with my dog in 100° heat. The Trax has been towed to the dealer and I am waiting on the official diagnosis.
Occasionally after reversing, the camera will get stuck on and the screen will continue to show the reverse camera while moving forward
Automatic headlight keep flickering on and off. Found out because the green dash light kept flickering and two drivers asked if I was ok because I was flashing the light, but I was not.
The automatic lighting control module is malfunctioning and causing my headlights to turn on/off rapidly in multiple different lighting conditions. Weather the sun is up/overcast or even at night if I’m close enough behind a vehicle from the reflection of my headlights it causes the sensor to turn the lights on and off. I was pulled over by a local sheriff the other day because he saw it happening during the day and that’s how I initially realized it was happening. If anything it’s an obvious safety risk for the distraction it causes to not only me but other drivers on the road. And I am always constantly checking the light on my dash to see if my headlights are actually functioning(lighting) when they should be. As another note there is many other people having this same issue that I’ve seen on Trax forums.
The auto lights during the day are defective. They work perfectly at night. On a sunny day they will be on, then turn off when I drive down a road with shade from a tree. Not only is the interior light flashing, my head and taillights do as well, causing concern and distraction for drivers around me. I took my Trax into the dealership shop several times. They changed a sensor, but that did not change anything. The sent a request to GM for a "fix" but there only suggestion, after more than 6 months was to drive a different Trax to show me all of them do that, that that is how they are made. I am just exasperated! Lights should not turn off when you drive under a shade tree, but stay on when it's bright and sunny.
When set to auto headlamps function, headlamp lights begin to flicker/flash on and off randomly while driving in sunny daylight conditions. This could be a distraction for drivers in front of vehicle. Dealership cannot repair problem as they claim not to have a Service Bulletin number from GM.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the brakes became inoperable. The braking system failure message was displayed. The vehicle failed to exceed 42 MPH. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where the codes were cleared, and the electrical system was updated. The dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. While driving, the failure recurred. The vehicle was towed to another local dealer, Shakopee Chevrolet (1206 1st Ave. E., Shakopee, MN 55379). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.

The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, she became aware that the computer was not working properly, since the welcome message displayed on the instrument panel had seized for several minutes. The contact was aware that the failure was related to an unknown recall. However, the local dealer refused to diagnose or repair the vehicle since the VIN was not included. The contact also stated that the automatic connection between the phone and the vehicle was not working properly, because callers could hear the contact; however, the contact could not hear caller. The contact stated that the rear passenger window switch was not working properly. The rearview camera was inoperable, affecting the visibility while reversing. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The Engine system including power train and electrical harnest. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? I was driving the engine light illuminated after i smelt burning. i immediately pulled over and called the dealership. The vehicle is brand new with less than 10 miles on the odometer. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes The dealership service department states Chevy is aware of the problem but has not issued a recall. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others?Yes by the Chevrolet company Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? the vehicle has less than 10 miles on the odometer. after possession of the vehicle while driving the engine light came on. i immediately notified the dealer and had car towed dor repair on 5/22. The car remains in the shop with no estimated date of repair.
Ambient light sensor defective since vehicle was new. It would turn the lights on at dusk and back off at dawn but was confused by direct sunlight on sunny days. The the lights would switch from DRLs to headlights/taillights whenever direct sunlight hit the sensor and then immediately switch back to DRLs when any shadow crossed over the sensor causing the lights to flash. this causes other drivers to flash their lights back and can be very distracting. After replacement of the sensor, the problem went away.
Since purchasing the car brand new, the wipers have stopped working mid snowstorm, one time in March and another in April here in Colorado. I have had to take the vehicle in 2x to the dealership and waste hours of my time.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started, the instrument panel and head unit went black and failed to illuminate for two hours. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 11,190.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times. The dealer lubricated the windows tract; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 900.
Driving down the highway at a normal speed and the engine made a loud noise and then quit. We took it to a dealership and they said the engine is blown. They said there was a huge hole in the side of the engine.
I was driving the car on a highway and there was a small muffled boom sound under the hood. The “low oil pressure light” came on simultaneous to the sound and the car suddenly lost power. I managed to put on brakes and pull to the shoulder of a very busy highway with semi trucks passing closely by. I was luckily able to get out of traffic because I happened to be in the right lane. The vehicle was towed to a GM dealer where it remains. The service mgr stated it had a sudden catastrophic engine failure and there was a huge hole in the side of the engine block. They have no other updates for me and will not discuss it at this time. I’m not aware of anyone else examining the vehicle.
Only have had this vehicle about a month but almost every day I drive it during the day if it's even just partly cloudy, cloudy, or raining the autoheadlights just constantly flash on and off. Sensor clearly isn't working properly. If it's completely dark lights come on correctly and if it's very sunny they stay off but anything in between is just a constant flash. Not safe due to sight, but also can cause road rage of other drivers thinking I'm flashing them....
When the auto headlight feature is on, the headlights keep flashing even when it is sunny outside. The intellibeam sensor seems to be too sensitive to any deviations in lighting. This could cause issues while driving if people think you are intentionally flashing your lights at them.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the vehicle was remotely started erroneously. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who determined that the infotainment system had been hacked. The infotainment center software was reloaded but the failure continued to occur. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 1.
I purchased this car on Feb 23, 2024 brand new - I have had trouble on numerous occasions trying to unbuckle my seat belt - the seat belt is too far down between the seat and the middle console making it difficult to manuever - if there were ever an emergency where I had to get out of the car fast - this would be extremely unsafe and problematic
02/16/2024 NOT abel to exit car. Driver door would not open ! Also window would not open. Turned car off & restarted. Driver door still would not open. Drove car around block & finally could exit car. Safety issue.
Day light running lights flicker on and off in the afteroon during partly cloudy and sunny days
When driving 70+ mph on a county highway a dog ran out in front of my vehicle. There had been a similar instance to this where a car pulled out in front of me on the same road and my car assisted in making a full stop to avoid the accident. However, this did not happen with the dog. There was full impact damage and vehicle has been in the shop for 3+ months awaiting parts for repair.
I’ve had problems with the headlights flickering for no reason and randomly (every day) With the green indicator on the dashboard turning on and off. It happens at different times of the day, in different weathers and for no reason. Seems to be worst on sunny and cloudy days and it happens at any speed, even parked. Already took to the dealership twice, first they did an update (it didn’t fix anything) and now they mentioned they have ordered a part to replace. I’ve talk in forums and groups with multiple people experiencing this issue. I had also problems with the back up camera staying on while driving and looking like it have “fish eye” effect. With the lane assist and forward collision warning not working. All this is also random, I’ve owned the car for a little over a week and seems like many people are talking about similar problems. The deactivation or failure of safety features is definitely dangerous. The dealership just mentioned they can’t replicate this. The problem with the flickering lights is a huge safety issue, other drivers gets confused and with the headlights going on and off you can’t really drive in safe way. I’ve documented with some videos and I have the dealership paper about The flickering lights problem. I’ve not been able to document the other problems since it happens while driving. I must mention I experienced this problems from the day one I got the car out of the lot (new). And the flickering lights problem KEEPS happening every day.
My car since I got it has been in service 3 times for the same issues. The infotainment screen keeps freezing and lagging randomly. It seems to happen more and more lately. It sometimes gets so bad where while I'm driving the reverse camera turns on and causes a huge distraction while driving. and when you turn the car off and take the key out fo the vehicle it will not shut off the radio for several minutes as it's intended to turn off when key is out of ignition and driver door opens. The next issue is with the remote start. The A/C will not turn on when remote starting the car. GM said it should but they can't seem to fix the issue. This almost caused my dog to have a heat stroke while I had to run into the store unexpectedly.
The contact owned a 2024 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated that while her son was driving at approximately 45 MPH, he observed smoke emanating from the engine compartment. The contact stated that as her son attempted to steer the vehicle off of the highway, the vehicle caught fire. The fire department extinguished the fire. It is unknown if there was a police report taken at that time. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard where it was diagnosed as totaled. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 6,455.
My day light running lights and headlights flicker on and off in the middle of the day , on sunny days. All I can do is turn them off.This is a regular problem {24-7}
Driver-side rear window has intermittently failed to open since vehicle purchase. When it doesn't open, I can still hear the motor click when the button is pressed. I confirmed no obstacles or sticky residue. Dealer ordered a replacement window motor months ago, but it has not arrived.
I was driving at 50mph when I lost power to my brakes. The brakes still worked well enough to get home, but I had to slow down well in advance of every turn and push hard on the brakes. Warning lights saying Brake System Failure (43 MPH Top Speed), Service Stabilitrak, and Steering Assist is Reduced Drive with Care. This problem has been talked about by other owners on Forums on the internet. Here's one of the websites: [XXX] One of the guys on that forum said the dealership found it to be a faulty brake fluid level sensor. The car's lane assist did seem to act a bit weird a couple of days before the warning lights came on. I felt like the car was trying to reposition despite being in the middle of the lane. I will be bringing the car to the dealership in the near future. They haven't had a chance to look at it. I could see an inexperienced driver panicking if faced with the multitude of warning lights and loss of proper brake function. The car only has 350 miles on it. Instrument panel goes blank and blacks out while driving, this poses a huge safety risk!! I am unable to use anything in the instrument panel. There was a recall for some Trax's but it says mine doesn't qualify, I don't know why!! Chevrolet has looked at it and everything but they are saying they cannot fix the problem. It has been happening for the past 6-7 months about once a week, ever since we purchased the vehicle. I have videos to show proof if needed.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated that the instrument cluster was flickering. The contact stated that the Forward Collision Avoidance system engaged without any objects nearby. While at a stop, the automatic STOP/START feature became inoperable. The vehicle was turned off with the key outside the vehicle, but the radio failed to turn off. Additionally, there was a lot of static on the radio. The steering wheel buttons were inoperable. The contact stated that the steering wheel was extremely hot. The high-beam headlights failed to engage while driving. The Back Over Prevention view was distorted and the touch screen was inoperable. The contact called the local dealer, where the system was rebooted, and the radio and camera were replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. While reversing from the garage and then shifting to park, the key was removed from the ignition, and the seat belt alarm continued to ring. The vehicle was shifted to drive but failed to move forward. While exiting the vehicle, the vehicle failed to lock with the fob or manually. The manufacturer was contacted and opened a case. The failure mileage was approximately 1,000.
Auto headlights turn headlights ON in sunshine. Then OFF in daytime shade. (when driving down a tree lined road, lights come on when not under tree shade, then off with every tree shade, gives the appearance I am "flashing" my headlights, same thing with underpasses, etc. Lights work properly at night.) Dealership said they had "no idea" what the problem was and would have to contact GM engineers in Korea. It has been 2 months so far with no information from dealer. I have to try and remember to turn AUTO HEADLIGHTS OFF every time I start the car, which also turns DRL off, a safety issue for certain.
I paid extra for the wireless Android system on my car so i would not be tempted to text while driving and stay hands free as 3,522 people were killed in 2021 by distracted driving. The wireless Android has not worked since I purchased the vehicle on 8/29/2023. The local dealership has identified the radio as the reason and has one on order. The part has been on order since mid-October and there is no expected delivery date. I tried contacting the Chevrolet Resolution Center directly and never received a response. I then contacted the BBB and after the BBB contacted Chevrolet received a response from the Chevrolet Resolution Center. The representative could not provide an expected delivery date and promised to check with the local dealership and keep me updated. I then contacted my state's Attorney General's Office and then sent in a complaint to Chevrolet. A Chevrolet representative contacted me but could not provide any helpful information. That representative informed me the radio was not made by Chevrolet and that Chevrolet has no control over that vendor and had no way to track the order. The rep also stated she would check with the local vendor and provide regular updates as well as give me some Chevrolet award points as an apology. Chevrolet is not taking care of issues with their vehicles. The Trax forum has many entries from owners with similar issues. Given the regularity of ads I see on television and billboards concerning the dangers of distracted driving, and the hands-free laws in effect, I feel passive connections such as wireless Android connections are an enhancement to driving safely. Chevrolet is trying to shift the responsibility to the local dealership even though the local dealership has done everything they have dome to order the part and are following Chevrolet's procedures. Chevrolet is not fixing their issues and neem motivation from a higher authority.
I bought my car in june of 2023 and after about 2 weeks of driving it i noticed when i drove 40-50 miles per hour my car would start to make a loud griding sounding noise... so last friday November 10 2023 the dealership replaced the noise cancellation moduler and the noise completely stopped... which is great, but now my radio will not connect to any device wirelessly on apple car play... it only connects to the devices through bluetooth only. we have tried 6 devices of mine, no luck, the dealership tried serval devices and they could not figure it out either... this is a major inconvenience because apple carplay was the main reason i bought the vehicle.

Driver side power window does not work intermittently
Unknown. On October 23,2023, at approximately 1:10am, Car was parked and off, received notification that alarm was going off. When I check the vehicle, it was in flames. Boston fire dept extinguished the fire. Police report was made the following morning, October 24,2023. I've contacted GM and I am still awaiting response. Car was a brand new 2024 chevy trax. Geico insurance reported it to be total loss.
I have had the car for two weeks and now the driver side window has completely stopped working. I can’t roll the window up or down.
My dash screen went blank several times.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated that while exiting or entering the vehicle, the doors failed to remain open. The contact stated that the doors closed independently if there was a slight wind or if the vehicle was parked on a slight incline with front of the vehicle pointed toward the incline. The contact stated that the doors had closed on his legs on several occasions while exiting or entering the vehicle. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 3,600.
This vehicle is programmed to shut off, if the driver leaves the vehicle with the key fob, after 15 minutes. This is very dangerous. I left my pet in the car, in the Florida sun, with the air conditioner running, while I stepped into a store briefly. When I got back to the car, I was surprised to discover my car had shut off. My pet was in a black SUV, in the Florida sun, without air. I researched the owner's manual. The owner's manual indicates the vehicle is designed to turn off, in this situation. I called Chevrolet customer service, and asked if this could be disabled, they said no it cannot be disabled. This is very dangerous for someone, if they leave a pet, an infirm person or a delicate item or product, which needs temperature control. The problem? Chevrolet will not permit an owner to change this feature. It is only a matter of time, before someone or something gets hurt, because the vehicle automatically shuts off, without the owner's knowledge. They do allow other safety features to be selectively disabled, why not this one?
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated that while activating the air conditioner, the front windshield fogged up impairing his vision. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that there was an excessive amount of condensation while activating the HVAC system. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was informed by the dealer that the failure had been reported by other Chevrolet Trax owners. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 200.
The vehicle Driver Side window intermittently does not function.
I was in a car accident where all of my airbags deployed. The seat airbag deployed, and the deflation vents were facing me. It melted my polyester shirt into me and burned my the skin across my ribs on my left side (nearest to the door). I was not aware of the location of the vents in the airbag until during the accident. This could be an issue for shorter people, who might have the airbags deploy closer to their face. I went to the hospital for the pain I was feeling in my ribs and difficulty breathing (some of which came from this airbag).
Going at speeds 60-70, transmission slips and is jerky, pulsating symptoms. Unsure if transmission slipping or brake malfunction. Going at speeds lower, very hard gear shifts. Using adaptive cruise control at speeds 60-70, car slammed on brakes for no apparent reason and remained using the break, would let off (clear and wide open in front of me).
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60-72 MPH, with the cruise control activated or turned off, the contact detected an intermittent pulsation. The contact stated it was like the brakes had engaged or the transmission was slipping. There were no warning lights illuminated. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 579.
