The tire separated after only 20k miles. Mechanic stated that I still had half of the tires life left. Was advised not to drive more than a mile on it as it could blow out and cause harm to myself and 2 young children. I had two new tires put on the vehicle. My mechanic will be checking the two remaining at every oil change I have in the future. There was no warning, my vehicle started violently shaking and veering heavily to the right, so much I had to fight it with both hands. Kumho (tire manufacturer) has ignored my calls and emails. Kia told me they cannot help me and to reach out to Kumho.
Jan 2026 I was driving into my workplace that is an inclined driveway. Released pressure from gas pedal and telluride began accelerating despite release of gas pedal. I ended up going through the building and lots of damage to both vehicle and building. After it was repaired there were two more instances this happened once while in a parking lot and at a slow speed. Vehicle has been at dealership since March and is in an active case due to kia saying they found nothing wrong with it although it is unsafe to drive
While driving the LCD screens would go blank intermittently. Sometimes staying off for 30 secs or more. I could still hear sound and could control volume. This has happened on two different occasions while traveling to work. I have a 35 minute commute on interstate highways.
The car seat styrofoam has detached from car seat and was previously held down by GLUE. The styrofoam has detached from shell that was previously attached by glue. Car seat was used previously for 6 months from October 2024 to April 2025 then stored in proper areas to prevent damage.
I was operating a 2024 Kia Telluride and was fully stopped in traffic when my vehicle was rear-ended by another vehicle. Immediately after the impact, my vehicle experienced apparent unintended forward propulsion/movement despite my braking attempts. Following the collision, the vehicle continued moving/driving forward for approximately 20 seconds and did not respond normally to brake input. The behavior created a loss-of-control situation and significantly increased the risk of secondary collisions, injury to vehicle occupants, nearby motorists, and pedestrians. I was unable to immediately stop the vehicle despite attempting to do so. The exact failed component has not yet been definitively identified; however, the incident appears potentially related to malfunction or unintended operation of one or more of the following systems: * drivetrain/transmission engagement, * electronic throttle control, * braking system, * powertrain control module, * or Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). The vehicle should be inspected for: * Event Data Recorder (EDR) data, * diagnostic trouble codes, * throttle/brake command activity, * drivetrain engagement data, * and post-collision electronic system behavior. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. At this time, the issue has not yet been reproduced intentionally. The vehicle has not yet been fully evaluated or confirmed by a Kia dealer or independent repair facility for the specific unintended movement condition. The vehicle is expected to undergo inspection and diagnostic review as soon as the Progressive adjuster issues the acceptance/approval letter. The vehicle will then be observed by insurance representatives, and collision repair personnel, as part of the accident and claim process. Prior to the collision and unintended movement event, there were no known warning lamps, dashboard alerts, or noticeable drivability symptoms indicating
Multiple door belt molding trims from two doors on my 2024 Kia Telluride detached from the vehicle, which is the subject of safety recall SC347 (NHTSA 25V494). The detached trim piece falls onto the roadway while driving, creating a road hazard for other vehicles and increasing the risk of a crash. The defect was confirmed by a Kia dealership, which documented the issue and acknowledged it falls under the active safety recall. I first brought the vehicle to the dealer on February 10, 2026 to have the recall repair performed. The dealer informed me the replacement parts are on backorder and didn’t provide or recommend a temporary rental. As of today, May 11, 2026 — over three months later — the repair has not been completed and no estimated completion date has been given. I have called back to ask the parts department at my service center for an ETA but they are only able to tell me that the replacement parts are still on back order. The failed component is the exterior door belt molding face plate, which is available for inspection at the dealership. Prior to full detachment, symptoms included the trim appearing visually loose and producing rattling and wind noise. My safety concern is that I am being forced to drive an unrepaired vehicle with a known safety defect because Kia has failed to supply adequate parts to complete this federally mandated recall repair in a timely manner.
Dashboard display is black. Therefore, the odometer and speedometer are not visible. I cannot tell how fast I’m driving which is unsafe. I called the Naperville and Elmhurst locations and they did not deem the issue a priority to diagnose today.
brakes weren’t working when trying to stop. Loud noise, braking pedals vibrated, when pushing down to attempt to break the brakes got soft, the steering wheel started to shake. Emergency parking lights and ASB lights on the dashboard came on. The vehicle was towed to the dealership and was unable to find the problem. They did a brake fluid exchange. Video of my driveway was provided to the dealership from this incident. Gear corporation was also contacted letting them know of the safety concerns I had. Third row and front passenger seatbelts not buckling.
I was notified of a recall on my vehicle related to door trim. I contacted my authorized Kia dealership to have the recall repaired and was told the required parts are unavailable, with no estimated timeline for resolution. I have been on a waitlist for over one year with no update. The unrepaired defect causes excessive noise that makes the vehicle unsafe and unsuitable for highway travel. I have submitted a formal demand letter to Kia America requesting either expedited repair, a vehicle buyback, or compensation for damages — and have received no response after 17 days.
The information cluster behind the steering wheel is not turning on. Started all of a sudden. Can’t show speed, none of the advance driving features are working , and not showing gas level.
I have been waiting for KIA to repair this recall for over 4 weeks. The local dealership states that the part is on backorder and hasn't arrived yet.
The Kia has an active recall sc347a because the side pieces can fall off. Two of ours already have, one of which flew off of our car and was definitely a hazard when it happened. Kia South Atlanta , 7310 Jonesboro road Morrow Road has repeatedly refused to fix it and have made it clear they have no plans to ever fix it despite the recall.
To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally complain about an ongoing issue with my 2024 Kia Telluride, which has experienced four separate windshield cracks in a little over two years of ownership. This frequency is excessive and well beyond what I would consider normal wear and tear for a vehicle of this class and price point. Each incident occurred during routine driving conditions, such as normal highway or city travel. In all cases, the impacts involved very small rocks or road debris, not large objects, construction hazards, or extreme driving situations. These are conditions that most vehicles encounter regularly without sustaining immediate windshield damage. The repeated cracking raises serious concerns about the durability, thickness, or overall quality of the windshield glass used in the Telluride. Having to repair or replace a windshield this often is both inconvenient and costly, and it undermines confidence in the vehicle’s design and materials. A windshield should be able to withstand minor impacts from small debris without cracking so easily. I chose the Kia Telluride based on its reputation for safety, quality, and reliability. However, this recurring issue has been frustrating and disappointing, especially given the relatively short ownership period and normal driving conditions involved. I respectfully request that Kia review this matter and consider whether there is a known defect or design issue with the windshield on the Telluride. I would also appreciate assistance, goodwill consideration, or guidance on how Kia plans to address this concern for customers experiencing similar problems. Thank you for your time and attention. I look forward to your response and a resolution that reflects Kia’s commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
I bought my 2024 Kia Telluride new and have been trying to get Kia to update the navigation system maps since I bought it. The maps and driving/turning instructions provided by their navigation systems are currently (and have been) out-of-date causing a significant safety risk for anyone driving Kia vehicles with these an non-updated maps. A prime example which is becoming more and more prevalent is where cities have completed changed major intersections (many adjacent to interstate highways) whereby they reversed the flow of traffic completely opposite of normal traffic flow. Although I have found these changes to be many places along the east coast, 2 local examples for me are the intersections of 1) [XXX] where is crosses [XXX] and 2) [XXX] where it crosses [XXX] Sarasota. Since both of these [XXX] exits in FL now have reversed traffic flows immediately after exiting this major highway (which is counter-intuitive to begin with), Kia's nav system is warning you that you are going in the wrong direction and telling you to turn head-on into oncoming traffic. For 2 years since I've been attempting to get Kia's attention on this matter, their response has consistently been (from their customer service dept, dealer and website which provides the updates) that the updates are currently unavailable and to continue to check back for updates. Please look into this issue and assist in getting Kia to recognize the risk they have created so they can provide a fix for the affected vehicles. Thank You. The contact owns a 2024 Kia Telluride. The contact stated that while attempting to enter the vehicle, it was discovered that the doors failed to open electronically while using the key fob. While attempting to use the key to manually unlock the doors, the contact was unable to unlock the doors. The contact indicated that the hatch back door also failed to open. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 25,000.
The contact owns a 2024 Kia Telluride. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V494000 (STRUCTURE); and then received notification that the remedy was available. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the dealer informed the contact that the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.
Dashboard / cluster screen went completely black on two separate occasions while driving.
See attached document for complaint. My trim is falling off my kia. I called Kia pursuant to the enclosed recall and I was told there is no remedy yet. Are you kidding. Glue! This is not rocket science. I went to my Kia dealer and they merely stuck the trim back on and it flaps in the wind. Very dangerous! Must someone be killed by the debris? Also the value of the vehicle for resale plummets. It looks terrible with rubber exposed and rubber is falling off. Do something or sue Kia as a class action for refund on all vehicles affected.
We were driving on interstate at 70 mph. It was sunny and 45 degrees outside. Suddenly with no warning, our front sunroof glass exploded. The bang was so loud that my ear was ringing hours after. Fortunately no car was following closely so no other vehicle was hit with flying debris. Also, our interior visor was closed so we were not struck by any of the flying glass. We pulled off and removed any loose glass that could fly off and proceeded to the dealership. They were submitting warranty information, etc. and provided a rental while we await the repairs. They did mention they had seen this before in a case where the visor was not closed and glass poured into the cabin and implied that it was a worse case than ours.
I leased this vehicle brand new in 2023 within a month my screen with my speedometer went black and I had called the dealership and they told me to unhook the neutral on my battery to reset the computer, it did work. And then anytime it rained got cold snowed or the roads were wet All my accident on avoided systems would say there's a problem and they would be disabled. I text the sales manager several times so between that and me having to unhook the neutral in the battery to reset my speedometer I was getting a little upset I took it to the dealership and they said there's no trouble codes and I said exactly because I unhooked the neutral which clears the trouble codes they had it for over a week and put 300 mi on it and told me they couldn't find anything wrong and because there was no trouble codes Kia would not do anything about it. I had it down there again for a recall told the service manager and he said just think of it this way it's like having your truck back where you didn't have all those when it goes out and laughed. I had emailed Kia corporate several times and they said I needed to take it to the dealer and the dealer said there's nothing they could do because there's no error codes but even this morning January 20th 2026 on my way to work no snow rain or anything and everything shut down again. The dealer sells manager has many text messages with the images of my dashboard and the warning lights. It just amazes me how the dealer in State college blames Kia and Kia tells me to have the dealer look at it because I've only had it there once which is absolutely not true I had it there a few times discussing it but because one was a recall and the other was an oil change they're not counting that
I am submitting this complaint to report multiple unresolved safety-related issues involving my 2024 Kia Telluride that have not been properly addressed by either the authorized dealership or Kia corporate. Issue #1: Front Bumper Sensor / Mounting Bracket Failure The front bumper sensor mounting bracket failed and detached without any impact, collision, or customer-caused damage. I did not strike anything, and there is no evidence of accident-related damage. This appears to be a manufacturing defect. This component is part of the vehicle’s front driver-assistance and safety sensor system. Because the bracket is damaged, I am concerned the sensor may be misaligned, inoperative, or providing inaccurate data, which presents a potential safety risk while driving. Issue #2: Unrepaired Safety Recall – Door Belt Molding I brought the vehicle to an authorized Kia dealership (Fred Beans Kia of Langhorne) to have recall work completed, including a recall involving the door belt molding. After the service visit, I received conflicting information indicating that I may need to bring the vehicle back in for the same recall, and to date I have not received confirmation that this recall repair was completed. This recall involves door belt molding trim that can delaminate and detach from the vehicle, creating a road hazard and increasing the risk of a crash to myself and other motorists. I am concerned that I may currently be operating a vehicle with an open and unresolved safety recall. Despite multiple attempts to obtain clarification and direction from both the dealership and Kia corporate customer care, I have received no clear confirmation of recall completion, no resolution of the sensor bracket failure, and no assurance that my vehicle is safe to operate. These unresolved issues raise serious concerns regarding: •The integrity and functionality of safety-related sensor systems •Proper execution and documentation of safety recall repairs •Manufacturer and dealer respons
My INSTRUMENT GAUGE CLUSTER WENT OUT. Black! No speedometer, no gas gauge and it didn’t increase the mileage when I drive the vehicle. No safety gauges working. Kia dealerships will not accommodate me that day to fix it.
The contact owns a 2024 Kia Telluride. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 MPH, the driver's side rear door belt molded trim detached from the vehicle. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that it was a known failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated wthat hile driving approximately 45 MPH, two years later, the trim detached from the driver's side front door. The contact had previously heard the trim becoming loose while going through a car wash. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V494000 (Structure), which the contact related to the failure; however, the part needed for the recall repair was unavailable. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that the recall remedy was not available. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the recall remedy was not available. The failure mileage was approximately 5,000.
Summary of Defect and Repair History My 2024 Kia Telluride EX AWD has experienced repeated and ongoing transmission failures. The failures include the vehicle becoming stuck in 5th gear, unsafe acceleration characteristics, and loss of normal drivability. Two transmissions have been replaced, and the same defect continues to occur. The vehicle remains at the dealership today with the defect unresolved. Repair Attempts and Days Out of Service 1 Transmission replacement 30 days Returned but defect recurred. A warning lamp (check engine) did illumiinate after the first transmission failure, however did not for the second nor third failure. Failure was confirmed by Kia dealership. 2 Transmission replacement 47 days. Returned but defect recurred. Failure was confirmed by Kia dealership. 3 Current repair attempt 24+ Not repaired. The vehicle has incurred three repair attempts and 101+ days out of service for the same defect. Failure was confirmed by Kia dealership. Substantial Impairment: Use, Value, and Safety 1. Impairment of Use The vehicle has been in the dealership’s possession for more than three months in 2025, making it unavailable for normal use Driving attempts prior to service demonstrated lack of shifting, hesitation, clunking, and unsafe behavior The defect continues to occur despite repeated major repairs 2. Impairment of Value A newer model vehicle requiring two full transmission replacement in one year and still malfunctioning has demonstrably reduced value Transmission replacement history is discoverable and materially reduces market value 3. Impairment of Safety Transmission failure compromises safe acceleration, speed regulation, and predictable power delivery The failures occurred at low mileage, indicating a systemic nonconformity rather than normal wear, presenting an ongoing risk As a engineer with 20+ years of experience, I do believe the root cause is a wiring issue (e.g. shorted wiring harness), not a transmission failure.
0n 12-23-2025 I left our Kia Telluride with the engine running for 4 hours in our cul-de-sac. Eventually our neighbors told us the vehicle was running. The car was unlocked and the key fob was not inside. I know, stupid thing to do. I had to move the vehicle for an appliance delivery and accidentally left it is running. Approx nine months prior my wife thought she had pushed the button to turn vehicle off after parking in the garage and shutting the door. I was not home, but I received a notification on my phone from KIA Connect that the engine had been running for nearly an hour. I immediately contacted my wife, and she turned the car off. This is an extremely dangerous condition to ignore. For today's occurrence in the cul-de-sac, I did not receive a notification. I've learned that was because I let the Kia Connect App, Ultimate Tier package expires after the 1-year free trial subscription ended. It's my opinion that the extended, unattended run detection feature should be part of the vehicle and not behind a pay-walling APP. My GMC 2024 Yukon has 15 minute unattended shut down integrated into the vehicle. So, a precedence of a safety concern and of available engineering has been recognized by some auto manufacturers. Please don't ignore this condition.
This car has a feature that will automatically detect the speed limit and sets the cruise control to an amount relative to it. If speed limit detected is 45, for example, it can automatically set the cruise setting to a configurable amount, say +5mph, and when detected, sets the limit to 50mph. Generally that works fine. However, near us is hwy 190 and is marked with road signs as a junction. Often times when we approach that junction the car "thinks" the speed limit has changed to 90mph and causes the cruise control setting to say, 95mph, causing immediate unexpected acceleration! This has now happened many times for me, at various intersections approaching hwy 190, in various directions.
The Display stops working or goes blank. Speed sometimes shows incorrectly on display. Today with a full tank of fuel it showed the Telluride was empty. Dealer service is scheduled for next week. No warnings.
My rear shocks are making bumping and rattling noise at slow speeds. It also has a stiff ride in some situations.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? I put the car in park, then turned off the vehicle, and removed my seatbelt. The car then began rolling back on its own. When I hit the break, it did not work to stop or slow the vehicle. Instead, the break hit the floor, and was "floppy". The car then crashed. The vehicle appears to have experienced a "roll-away event" despite being in Park and off. (a term I learned from the prior 2024 Telluride recall, my VIN was not included). • The brake pedal went to the floor and did not stop or slow the vehicle as expected, and felt “floppy” with no normal resistance. • The electronic parking brake / brake actuator did not appear to engage (no sound, no holding force). How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? I had removed my seatbelt, so I sustained whiplash and other bodily harm from crashing into our house. Had I stepped out of the car, i could have been pulled underneath it. It also crashed/crushed into our grill which could have caused an explosion. And most importantly, it could have been fatal to my daughters (22 months and 4yr) who usually stand (95% of the time or more) where the car crashed, waiting for me to get out of the car. My dogs also roam the drive way and it could have runover them as well. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? I have notified KIA customer support and am waiting their response for further steps. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? NO, not yet. (see above) Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? The brakes have malfunctioned a few times during reversing or driving. The auto stop has engaged itself when there was no danger of hitting anything, and has once stopped in the middle of an intersection, on its own.
Vehicle was part of the NHTSA 24V077 recall for faulty valve springs and took into dealership in April 2024 and engine was not replaced as it was listed as ok. Subsequently took for other recalls and maintenance, each time the vehicle was released back. Took vehicle in for oil change in Apr 2025 and stated evidence of noise in rear end, repair records indicate spare tire loose so tightened and given back. Noise was still evident so I tightened and in mid August, noise got worse and could feel while driving. Took in 29 Aug 2025 for oil change and mentioned noise. At this point after 6 or more visits, Kia flagged the vehicle under 24V077 and directed engine change saying unsafe to drive. So they allowed me to drive 30K miles and finally replaced engine which was performing satisfactory. The rear end noise was determined to be rear differential which was replaced, noise remained, techline case opened, shocks changed, noise remained, Field engineer visit scheduled 6 weeks out then canceled with direction to change rear cross member which was changed, noise still there. Now existing case re-opened with request for another engineer to visit. More money spent in rear end repairs which noise started in April 2025, then the cost of engine replacement which has only 65 miles all by dealership. Vehicle at dealership since 29 August 2025. Not confident engine replacement is satisfactory as fuel pump also required replacement and the inability to fix rear end is keeping from checking engine replacement is fixed. Wife no longer feels safe ever driving this vehicle again. Furthermore, Kia put us at risk by failing to direct dealership to change engine in April 2024 and all subsequent visits before finally flagging. My guess is lack of new engines available and did not want me to wait so allowed us to continue to drive extra miles and addl time took out of state Lemon Law timeframe likely. All repair records avail on request. Demanding buyback from Kia of America
Electronic speedometer does not display. Unable to see speed while driving.
I activated the windshield wipers and noticed no fluid spraying from the nozzles. Upon checking the washer fluid reservoir under the hood, it was nearly empty despite being refilled just two days prior. There were no visible external spills, but I discovered a significant puddle of washer fluid accumulating behind the front-right wheel well liner, indicating an internal leak. Further inspection (guided by online owner forums reporting the same issue) revealed that the ribbed plastic section of the windshield washer hose—specifically at the connection point near the firewall—had cracked and separated. This hose runs as a single assembly from the reservoir, through the engine bay, to both front and rear nozzles. The crack appears to be a manufacturing defect in the brittle plastic material, which is prone to fracturing under normal temperature fluctuations or minor vibrations, rather than wear from high mileage. The failure eliminates the ability to clear the windshield of rain, bugs, or debris, creating a hazardous blind spot and directly contributing to reduced visibility.
The contact owned a 2024 Kia Telluride. The contact stated that, while the vehicle was turned off in her driveway, she observed flames emanating from the interior of the vehicle on the driver's side. No warning lights were illuminated. Local emergency services arrived and were able to extinguish the flames. The contact was later informed that firefighters on scene believed that the fire originated at the driver's seat. The vehicle was towed to a storage facility and deemed a total loss by the contact's insurance provider. A fire report was filed. A police report was filed, and injuries were not reported. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V407000 (Seats); the VIN was included, but the vehicle had been repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 50,000.

Summary: Emergency collision warning system activated unexpectedly at highway speed, causing sudden braking and loss of vehicle control. Details: While traveling approximately 65 mph on [XXX] , the emergency collision warning system in my Kia activated suddenly and without cause. There were no vehicles in front, beside, or near me at the time. The system automatically engaged the brakes, causing the rear of my vehicle to jackknife. The vehicle did not slow gradually—it braked abruptly, creating a serious risk of rear-end collision. Afterward, the car would not shift back into drive, leaving me stranded in a dangerous location in the middle of the highway. This is the third time I have contacted Kia regarding the same malfunction with the emergency collision warning system. The issue remains unresolved and continues to pose a severe safety hazard to myself and other motorists. Date of most recent incident: [XXX] Vehicle information: 2024 KIA telluride Vin: Est.mileage: 37,000 Location: [XXX] Summary of concern: This malfunction causes the vehicle to brake unexpectedly and lose drivability, with no valid reason for system activation. This could easily result in a rear-end crash or multi-vehicle collision. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate whether other Kia owners have experienced similar incidents and whether this issue warrants a safety recall or software fix. This is my third experience with this warning system malfunctioning I have reached out to Kia previously before. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.
This vehicle only has 31,000 miles on it and I've already had one door trim molding replaced. (now the rest of the trim doesn't match so that's great for aesthetics) The interior door panel replaced because it was loose. This car developed a "thumping" noise around 25K miles when turning at low speeds. Took it to the dealer, told them it is probably the AWD coupler, and they said the self-leveling rear shocks were leaking. So those got replaced. Thumping was still there. I mentioned to the dealer that it is probably still the AWD coupler. Dealer decides to replace the rear differential because they found metal shavings in the diff fluid. Sound is still there but now not as loud. Car is currently back at the dealer for diagnostics to remedy the situation. I don't understand how a car with only 30k miles on it should be having these kinds of major issues. Kia seems to know about these issues because they do not argue about replacing anything. The car looks great, and the size is great. But I cannot imagine the nightmares I'm going to have for the next 30K. Or how bad the nightmare will be once I am out of factory warranty.
The contact owns a 2024 Kia Telluride. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V494000 (STRUCTURE); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the vehicle was purchased in June 2025. While driving back to the residence after the vehicle was purchased, the cover behind the rearview mirror detached and was hanging loose. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer for repairs, and the dealer refused to repair the vehicle. The contact was informed that the vehicle had an aftermarket windshield, which caused the glue to melt. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, while closing the front driver’s side door, the door molding trim had delaminated and detached from the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 18,000.

The contact owns a 2024 Kia Telluride. The contact stated that while attempting to open and close the door, there was an abnormal popping sound coming from the rear driver’s side door. No warning light was illuminated. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was diagnosed with a stripped bolt. The dealer was unable to replace the bolt and referred the contact to an Auto Body Shop for assistance. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and opened a case. The approximate failure mileage was 25,000.
On several occasions in city traffic the vehicle notified the drive to "check surround area for safety." This warning is normally associated with a potential for impending collision. In at least one case, the vehicle was stationary at stoplight. In one case, the vehicle was moving slowly (< 10 mph) and was either starting or stopping at a stoplight. The vehicle automatically braked with the same warning as above for no apparent danger visible to the driver. Additionally, while driving at highway speed, the vehicle's adaptive cruise control (ACC) was unable to identify that it was approaching vehicle until it was < 2 car lengths from that vehicle. The automated systems had no trouble identifying vehicles in adjacent lanes (as evidenced by the electronic display). The ACC appeared better able to identify cars in front if they changed into the vehicle's lane from an adjacent lane. In other words, the ACC could more easily track an identified vehicle changing lanes into this vehicle's lane from an adjacent lane rather than identifying a vehicle in the same lane that this vehicle was approaching.
Air conditioner quit working and dealership said a small rock or bug hit the AC condenser and caused the freon to leak out. After researching this seems to be a very common issue with the Kia Tellurides and there should be a recall issued for the design flaw. Vehicle only has 5,200 miles on it.
I am writing to bring to your attention several safety issues with my vehicle that have not been addressed despite my previous attempts to have them resolved. The first issue concerns the brake system on my vehicle, specifically the brake failure that I have been experiencing. The brakes on my vehicle are not functioning properly, and as a result, I have had multiple instances of brake failure which have put not only my safety but the safety of others at risk. Despite bringing this issue to the attention of your team, the necessary repairs have not been carried out, and the problem persists. This is extremely concerning as the continued malfunction of the brakes poses a significant threat to the safety of both myself and other road users. I urge you to take immediate action to rectify this issue and ensure that the brakes on my vehicle are functioning correctly. Furthermore, I would also like to highlight another safety issue with the seatbelt system in my vehicle. There have been instances where the seatbelt, the third row seat and passenger seat, fails to latch properly sometimes. I have personally experienced difficulties with the latching mechanism and have had to pay for the third-row seatbelt to be fixed as well. Given the critical role that seatbelts play in ensuring the safety of passengers in a vehicle, it is imperative that this issue is addressed promptly to prevent any potential accidents or injuries. I request that the seatbelt system in my vehicle be thoroughly inspected and repaired to ensure that it is functioning correctly and reliably. I trust that you will take the necessary steps to address these safety concerns promptly and effectively. Failure to do so not only compromises my safety but also places the lives of others at risk. I appreciate your prompt attention to these
While driving on a surface street the sunroof glass shattered all on its own. The glass was in the closed position. No rock or debris was located in the sunshade portion. No one else was around us on the road when it happened. There are numerous complaints about this happening within other forums. The dealer claimed the warranty will not cover broken glass and I was told to file an insurance claim. The estimate to repair the sunroof assembly is $8260.
We were departing [XXX]in Barnstable, Mass on [XXX]. As he entered the main road from the parking lot, my husband thought the driver on his left on the main road had a stop sign so he pulled out onto the street. The other driver did not have a stop sign and my husband hit him. We were going under 10mph so the air bags did not deploy. The “forward collision warning” did not activate nor did the “emergency braking system” function yet the plastic front end of our car was totally smashed and the side of the other car had just a large scratch and a flat tire. We had the car shipped back to Denver where we live and Emich Kia declared it a “total” because they said the frame might be bent. I have contacted Kia Corporation and their CEO repeatedly to point out that their car malfunctioned and did not stop when it was supposed to stop. They do not care and did state that the car had only sustained damage to “crushable material”. Since the damage was to crushable material and the air bags did not deploy, it is obvious that it was a slow speed crash and the emergency braking system and the warning system should have functioned. This 2024 Kia was our second 2024. The first new one we purchased stuttered violently and the check engine light illuminated each time we drove down from the Colorado mountains. Once again, Kia took no responsibility for this issue for over a year so our local dealer finally bought back that lemon and sold us the one that malfunctioned in the crash. Two faulty Kia Tellurides in one year points to serious problems with this car and the Kia corporation because they will not acknowledge problems nor attempt to solve them in a timely manner. Navigation system shows the directional cursor moving sideways or upside down. This causes the vehicle to constantly alert loudly and with large red DO NOT ENTER Signs on my dash and heads up display. The system audibly alerts over and over for the driver to turn around “Wrong way detected check driving direction immediately!” This has been going on since I drove off the lot. The Kia service agent have me waiting for a navigation update that has never come or have not given me a date when to expect this fix. I am confident that the repair will not fix this problem.
Paint on the hood is peeling back in two front areas. There may have been chip from road debris, but the loss of paint in excessive, indicating defective adhesion in the paint used by the manufacturer.
am the owner of a 2024 Kia Telluride, VIN [XXX] . This is the 2nd Telluride we have and total 3rd Kia we have. I am writing to formally report a design defect in the rear seatbelt system that poses a serious child passenger safety hazard. In the second row, where my child’s car seat is installed, the seatbelt buckle is positioned extremely low and close to the seat base. This placement makes it nearly impossible for a child to buckle themselves in and causes delays in securing them quickly. In emergency situations, this design could also prevent a child from unbuckling themselves promptly, creating a serious risk if rapid evacuation is needed. Both in everyday use and urgent scenarios, this flaw can lead to improper restraint or dangerous delays in ensuring a child’s safety. I called Kia Consumer Affairs on Tuesday August, 12th 2025 Case # [XXX] and was told there were no available solutions or suggestions. I am not satisfied with this response, as this is not a matter of convenience but of safety compliance and proper usability for child passengers. As a loyal Kia customer, I expected a resolution or at the very least a clear commitment to investigate this issue. I am requesting that Kia: Document this as an official safety complaint. Inform me if there are any existing Technical Service Bulletins, engineering reviews, or pending design changes related to this issue. Provide an explanation of how Kia intends to address this safety concern for current and future Telluride owners and particularly to me as I have a 2 year lease. I am also submitting this report to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) so it is on record for investigation. Photos and video of the defect can be provided upon request. Thank you for your prompt attention to this serious safety matter. Sincerely, INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Subject: Urgent Complaint Regarding Unresolved Safety Recall – NHTSA Recall #25V494 / VIN [XXX] To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding an unresolved safety recall affecting my 2024 Kia Telluride (VIN: [XXX] ), associated with NHTSA Recall Number 25V494 and Kia Manufacturer Recall Number SC347. As of August 19, 2025, the recall status remains incomplete, and the remedy part is still unavailable, despite the recall being issued on July 28, 2025. The defect involves the door belt molding trim, which may delaminate and detach, posing a serious road hazard and increasing the risk of crash for other vehicles. This vehicle is not only a personal asset—it is a primary source of income through the Turo platform. Every day that the vehicle remains unrepaired results in direct financial losses, as I am unable to rent it out due to the unresolved safety issue. I am deeply concerned about the lack of timely remedy and the absence of a clear resolution timeline from Kia America. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate this delay and take appropriate action to ensure Kia provides a remedy within a reasonable timeframe. I am prepared to provide documentation of income loss and correspondence with Kia, if needed. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your guidance and support in resolving this issue promptly. Sincerely, [XXX] [XXX] Phone: [XXX] Email: [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The upper edge of the car door and the lower edge of the window. Recently, part of the vehicle is coming off on its own, apparently it is a problem with the glue on the metal sheets of the doors.
Driver's exterior key door lock fell off. Cannot use key door lock.
While driving on [XXX] the check engine light came on and engine started shaking and making abnormal noise. I was afraid to keep driving so requested a tow to Bramlett Kia in Decatur, AL. I told the service dept the issue as well as the issue listed below that I've been experiencing, and they told me it would be 3 weeks before they could even assess it as they are extremely backed up. I'm hoping the dealer service dept. can reproduce the issue once they assess it. It has not been inspected by anyone else. I looked up my VIN # to make sure I had not missed a recall but there is no recall on my VIN #. Another issue I'm having is while using the Lane Keeping Assistance the vehicle responds with the Forward Collision Warning and brakes automatically when there is nothing in front of the vehicle. If this were to happen when a vehicle was behind me this would put all of our safety at risk. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The piece under my back door window came off. The same piece came off under my passenger door window. I saw it was a problem for other makes and models, but want the Telluride 2024 included since the exact same thing has happened to me. I don’t know where the pieces came off, but it happened this month. I think the glue holding them on melted in the Texas heat and they just blew off.
The vehicle’s windshield was hit by road debri/gravel while driving on a paved freeway. The impact caused the windshield to shatter at the impact site and crack about 1/2 of the way across the windshield. I had the windshield replaced with an original Kia windshield at Safelite AutoGlass. Three months later another tiny piece of road debri/gravel hit the new windshield while driving on the paved freeway. The impact also caused a localized shatter at the impact site with a crack 1/3 of the way across the windshield. These were the only two times the vehicle was hit by road debris. Over the last 10 years my other cars have been hit by road debris 20 times and this shattering of the windshield has never occurred with any other vehicle. I am concerned about the safety and integrity of the windshield.
Dash is black & does not show anything when car is started and/or moving
The entire instrument display panel (which includes things like gear, speed, fuel level, auto hold status, etc.) was completely black with no information displayed. The navigation system still illuminated, but the gps was not working properly and resulted in the car thinking (and telling me) that I was driving on the wrong side of the road. My safety was at risk and the safety of other drivers because I had zero feedback about the operation of my vehicle. I was able to drive it, but only able to rely on visual cues (going with pace of traffic). It's currently at the dealer now, but yes I recreated it several times. The only possible warning sign is that a few weeks prior, the vehicle gave me a message stating 'Battery discharging due to external electrical devices', despite no external electrical devices being plugged in. I took it to the dealer, and they had no idea what the cause was but said my battery tested fine.
The vehicle was parked(placed in park on gear shift) in a friends driveway, facing upward on approx. 15Deg incline with the engine idling. My wife exited the vehicle and walked around the front of the vehicle to the houses front entrance where she spoke briefly with the owner inside the front door. On leaving the house the car was gone from where it was left parked. My wife found that it had rolled up the driveway incline until it hit a couple of pine trees at the top end of the drive and stopped. She opened the door and found the gear shift still in the parked position at which point she entered the car, placed it in reverse and backed out of the tree branches and took photos. The incident was immediately reported to KIA America and the dealer. The vehicle has been at the dealer for 3 weeks now with no resolution, undergoing "testing". They say it is not operating the way it should be, but they have not been able to identify or correct the issue. KIA America has told me the issue has been elevated to KIA factory tech support. Other than scratches there appears to be no major damage. Photos show driveway, trees that stopped the vehicle and debris and scratches.
The contact owns a 2024 Kia Telluride. The contact stated that while driving 45 MPH, a small rock struck the front windshield, creating a bullet-sized hole in the windshield. Additionally, while driving on the Interstate on two separate occasions, rocks struck the front windshield and caused chips in the windshield. The vehicle was taken to a glass center, where the windshield was replaced. The technician informed the contact that the glass was thin. The contact called the local dealer and was informed that the windshield was thin and there was no recall for the failure. The dealer informed the contact that the glass needed to be replaced and recalibrated. The contact called two other dealers in Texas and retrieved similar information. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 42.
On Thursday, June 5, 2025, I discovered a 2-inch crack at the bottom center of my windshield after my vehicle had been parked in my garage for three consecutive days without being driven. There was no known impact or external force that could have caused the crack. The vehicle remained stationary and protected from environmental elements during this time. On Tuesday, June 10, 2025, I drove the vehicle to a glass repair company at the request of the dealership. While en route, I observed the crack rapidly expand from 2 inches to over 12 inches in length, extending upward and curving toward the driver’s side view area. The glass company inspected the windshield and confirmed there was no evidence of impact damage (e.g., from a rock or debris). Safety Risk: The expanding crack compromised the structural integrity of the windshield and obstructed the driver’s field of vision, posing a potential safety hazard. A weakened windshield may also reduce the effectiveness of airbag deployment and roof support in the event of a collision. Inspection and Confirmation: The issue was evaluated by an independent glass repair company, which confirmed the absence of any impact damage. The dealership referred me to this inspection. The manufacturer has not yet inspected the vehicle directly. Availability for Inspection: Yes, the cracked windshield is still available for inspection upon request. Warning Signs or Symptoms Prior to Failure: There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms prior to the appearance of the crack. The crack was first noticed after the vehicle had been parked and unused for several days.

3rd sear Buckle RH - 3rd row Rear bench right side rear passenger seatbelt anchor/buckle assembly (Right of 3RD Position) is damaged when rear seat is in down-folded position and soft length of seat buckle has slipped back under rear back rest. Receiving buckle is being crushed when seat is in folded position - KIA dealer argues misuse by customer - but fault is with manufacturer as rear buckle can slip below elastic tether because there is no stable anchor length between fixing bolt and tether point. Result is that seat buckle coupling becomes crushed when seat is in folded position. Part Replaced with K 89843 S9510WK
The sunroof spontaneously exploded while I was driving my kids to practice. Luckily we had the sunshade closed, so that prevented us from getting covered in glass. I have found several claims online from other Kia Telluride owners experiencing this same issue. There were no prior issues or warnings.
The cluster display on the vehicle has went black. I am unable to see my speed, gas level, nor use cruise control. This is now the second time this has happened and Kia has no solutions for repair.
Vehicle was turned on and the dashboard displaying speedometer and RPMs is completely black.
Car is parked, off and locked tailgate has automatically opened. This has happened 3 or 4 times now.
The contact owns a 2024 Kia Telluride. The contact stated while driving at undisclosed speeds, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer for a routine oil change prior to the failure. The vehicle was taken to another local dealer, Van Nuys Kia (6115 Van Nuys Blvd., Van Nuys, CA 91401); where it was diagnosed that the evaporator cooler and charcoal canister were leaking emissions. There was a small leak in the evaporator system. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and confirmed that there were no recalls or warranty coverage on the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.
During normal driving conditions, the windshield started cracking halfway up the drivers side horizontally. The crack begins from the edge under the trim and goes almost halfway across. The windshield does not appear to have been damaged in any way and no impacts from rocks. I saw the crack start from the outer edge and travel across the windshield as I was driving. The vehicle is kept in a garage. I contacted the dealer and they told me to contact Kia Customer Service which I am doing later today. This certainly appears to be a defect and is a safety hazard as the glass cracked without any direct cause. The vehicle is available for inspection.
The front passenger seat of my 2024 Kia Telluride began emitting smoke while I was driving it. It quickly incapsulated the entire interior of my vehicle in thick smoke. The fire department had to be called to extinguish the fire. Prior to a fire starting while I was driving my vehicle, my vehicle had been in for a recall where they allegedly fixed the problem. The Kia telluride is not safe for anyone to drive when the product they’re producing starts a fire while it’s being driven.
Windshield made a popping noise while stopped at a signal light and a crack began to spread from the bottom left side of the drivers side, up the middle of the glass towards the passenger side. There are two cracks forming,
Instrument cluster above the steering wheel is black and will not work. No way to know speed as well as other important things.
The trim on my passenger door is coming off! The adhesive is obviously defective. The piece flops when driving and is a risk to others as it may pop off. I’ve read that thousands of 2024 Telluride models have this problem! It is dangerous problem that kia needs to fix!
My SUV was sitting in the driveway and a crack appeared out of nowhere.
Software malfunction left the primary dashboard and all associated systems inoperable and in an unresposive state.
Driver's instrument panel goes black and fails to show any vehicle info i. E. Speedometer, gauges, etc.
The manufactured seat belt and alarm system failed. My seat belt alarm for the 3rd row rear seat fires intermittently while driving when the seat is empty (no one or no items are in the seat) since I purchased the vehicle. I had this issue evaluated at a Kia Dealership, but they ran diagnostics and "no codes" came up so they did not fix anything. The issue persists. Recently, I had my rear passenger side window broken by a thief and they entered my vehicle when it was locked. The manufacturers alarm did not fire at all.
Transmission constantly slipping after driving and transmission gets warmed up. Vehicle continues to rev up and enter high RPMS before changing gears and then jolts the vehicle as changing gears. Also steadily leaking coolant fluids, have taken vehicle to the dealership as of now THREE times to have the coolant issue serviced. Repairs are still not complete to date.
I have owned the vehicle for less than a month, 750 miles to date and the windshield is cracked down the center possing a safety risk while driving.
2 Electrical Related Issues: 1. The car's ON/OFF button will not engage with key fob inside the vehicle. Can only start the car with remote start (this first occurred on 2/3/25; Peak Kia Service was called on 2/4/2025 and service scheduled for 2/12/2025) 2. Car battery died unexpectedly and within 3 months of ownership (2/11/2025) - Put my own safety at risk as I was in a dark parking lot and my car, while it would unlock, would not turn on - Car battery dying unexpectedly puts my and my children's safety at risk particularly when confronted with cold temperatures and the inability to use the vehicle unexpectedly AAA was called on 2/11/25 and they found the battery had an unusual drain registering 340/800. The car was jumped and left running for 30 minutes. Peak Kia was made aware of the issue with the non-start issue on 2/4/2025, they gave me verbal confirmation they have had no known issues with this, specific to the Kia Telluride. No warning signs prior to either issue.
Window trim flew off on expressway. This is a known issue with Kia.

As I was driving to work my sunroof exploded. I was miles away from an overpass and nothing flew out of any vehicle around me. It just randomly exploded. I could hear glass shuffling around on my sunshade. Thankfully the sunshade wasn't open or else I would have been covered in glass. Took it to a dealership and they told me it wasn't covered under any warranty and to tell my insurance it was "due to weather and wind causing the sunroof to bend and flex".
When you are stuck in the snow and start to spin, the AWD kicks out and you cannot move. Very big issue for anyone that lives in an area that snow accumulates.
The window trim on all four of my windows has come or is coming apart. There is a hazard to having these items fly off my car. I went into Kia reported the issue and they stated the parts are in back order. The existing trim has been taped down as this can impact other vehicles on the road. I am supposed to get a call with the parts like many others on this forum and have heard nothing back. FYI it’s not just the plastic of the trim that has come loose but the whole trim panel under the windows.
A rock (a small one) was kicked up on my window by a passenger truck that was traveling in front of me that was going on to the shoulder of the road to make a turn into a parking lot. I went into the store and came back outside to see that a Crack formed in my window. I continued on my way to work, worked my 12 hour shift and then came outside to a bigger Crack in my window. While I was driving home from work the following morning the Crack actively spread further in a U shape WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. In no way should a small rock hit my windshield and in less than 15 minutes a Crack appears that only gets bigger and eventually spreads across the ENTIRE WINDSHIELD in less than 24 hours. I've never in my life seen something like this. I've driven cars for years with a chip in the windshield that never progressed or if it DID progress it was a MINIMAL Crack, nothing at all like this. This is insanity. It makes me question the safety of the windshield in general. Is the glass going to break while I'm driving down the highway?
The trim is coming off on my vehicle and before it comes off while driving and impacting another vehicle like someone else has reported on a community board I took it in to be replaced. I drive a lot but I'm lucky I'm still under 36k but this will only address the 2 pieces that are currently coming off. My concern is after 36k the rest will fall off and while driving so not only will it not be covered but it could impact other drivers if it flies off while driving.
When active cruise control is active the forward collection activates when their are shades and sun breaks in the road. Also when cruise control is activated, the forward colition should slow down and or stop the vehicle whne it approuches a vehicle in front of it. Often when approuching a stoped car etc infront or foward of the telluride it does not break or slow down, it acts as if their are no obsticials in front of it. I have brought the vehicle to dealer when it had less than 3000 miles for this issue and will be bringing it back again on 1/28/2025 for this reacuring issue. Just today 1/17/25 it happened 7 times within a 5 mile travel.
Found crack in windshield while parked in garage, approximately 8 inches long on passenger side about 6" up from bottom of glass starting at the A pillar. Crack doubled in size by following day. There was no impact, it just cracked in a single line horizontal to the middle of the glass.
Fixed rear skylight exploded
The contact owns a 2024 Kia Telluride. The contact stated that all four windows' exterior B-pillar trims had detached. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was determined that the B-pillars needed to be replaced; however, the parts were on backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and confirmed being aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.
The dashboard will turn black while driving. It will reset after disconnecting the battery, but it will do the same thing a few days later. Also, with cruise control, the car will suddenly slow down on the highway when no vehicles are in front of the car.
When driving with my speed control set at 35 to 45 mph, I will sporadically and without warning get a forward collision warning, and the car brakes. When this occurs, there is absolutely nothing around that should cause this warning. The warning occurs for no reason at all. I took the car to my Kia dealership and also provided them with videos taken at two different times. They kept my car for seven weeks and just returned it to me having done nothing to fix the problem. The reason stated was that the Kia engineers felt that they needed to have the dealer reproduce the problem. Because it is sporadic one, the dealer was not able to reproduce the problem. However, the dealer did acknowledge that I had a problem, but said there was nothing more they could do. The danger is that if someone is following you closely behind and all of a sudden you get this forward collision warning that breaks the car, the car behind has to break suddenly in order to avoid a rear end collision. I have researched online and find that there are other owners of this same car that have had the same problem. I found only one instance where Kia accepted the videos as evidence of the problem, and apparently gave the dealer instructions that when accomplished, seem to have fixed the problem. I have tried to include several videos of these incidents but can’t figure out how to send them to you.
The contact owns a 2024 Kia Telluride. The contact stated that while driving with the vehicle in Snow Mode and depressing the accelerator pedal while making a left turn, the vehicle stopped. The contact stated that after taking the vehicle out of Snow Mode, the vehicle worked as designed. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the local dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 3,898.
Sunroof spontaneously exploded while driving.
The contact owns a 2024 Kia Telluride. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 40 MPH, he observed a metal trim on the driver's window detached partially. The contact inspected the vehicle and observed a big jagged metal sticking out from the bottom of the driver's window. The vehicle was taken to a dealer twice where the dealer taped the trim, but the failure re-occurred within hours each time. On one occasion while parked, a friend's child ran near the vehicle, was caught by the protruding metal trim, and seriously scratched. Medical attention was not needed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 13,000.
I parked in a covered parking garage for about two hours. When I came out there was a crack about a foot long on my passenger side windshield. The crack quickly spread over the next couple of hours while driving almost double the size. There was not a rock that hit my car and it looks like tiny hold in my windshield very strange looking and then spread quickly. I believe my windshield is defective.
The Brakes on this car had a failure. As the car was approaching a stop, the pedal went to the floor without any notable slowing of the vehicle. Fortunately, there was not a car immediately in front my Telluride or approaching from the side, so there was no impact. The car was then towed to the Robert Brogden Olathe, Kia and inspected. They reported that the ABS light was on and that their was air in the brake line. Using a manual bleeding procedure, the air was removed, but they have not found how their air got into the line during the last mile. Obviously, Root Cause for the air getting into the sealed system must be identified for this car to be considered safe to drive. We took delivery of this vehicle on [XXX] with fewer than 50 miles on the odometer and it was inspected and tested for 100% of all systems fully operational. During the first 700+ miles, the brakes worked perfectly. Kia Service ticket it [XXX]. Kia Customer Service Case Number [XXX]. Intermittently, the forward collision system engages (including self-braking) inappropriately when car is moving and there are no objects that should engage system. Happens at lower cruise control speeds most often. I started noticing after an update was installed to my vehicle in late Aug 2024. I went to Jeff Wyler Fairfield Kia, 5815 Dixie Highway, Fairfield, OH 45014. They refused to fix issue for unknown reasons. Obviously, a car braking suddenly without warning when moving is a serious issue that can result in serious injury, death.
I have trim pieces around side windows falling off my new vehicle or in process of falling off my vehicle. This seems to be possible safety hazard to other vehicles on the road.
The vehicle fails to accelerate from a stop in snow mode. Engine does not respond to acceleration pedal. My wife was stuck halfway in a intersection of a state highway. She had to shut off engine and restart the vehicle to get the car to function. No warning lights appeared. This has happened twice in the last week and after some research on the internet, it seems like this is not an isolated incident. Others have reported this same problem. Here is one particular case ID i saw was #11560843 with the same problem.
I was driving at on the highway at 65 MPH in 60-65 degree temperatures on an open highway with minimal traffic on clean roads with no road debris. A loud explosion followed by observing through the rearview mirror shattered sunroof glass shower over the back of the car. There was no damage to the shade cover nor remainder of the roof to suggest something struck the top of the car.
The contact owns a 2024 Kia Telluride. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the driver's side rear window independently fractured. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic; however, the cause for the failure was not yet determined. The window was replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The dealer was made aware of the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 8,400.
Gauge cluster is completely black. I am unable to tell the speed I am going, see how much gas I have or use features like the blind spot detection.
I was driving on the highway, heard a pop noise, assume a rock hit windshield but did not see anything, I got off on my exit, went into a store and came back out a few mins later and saw windshield had a long crack from the top down approx 14 inches.
Windshield cracked.
Sunroof shattered while driving. Nothing struck the glass, we were not around any other vehicles, etc. it just exploded. The slide was closed, so no glass fell in vehicle.
Subject: Urgent Safety Concern Regarding 2024 Kia Telluride – Defective Trim/Molding Adhesive Dear National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), I am writing to report a significant safety concern regarding my 2024 Kia Telluride. Specifically, the horizontal trim/molding located under the windows has defective adhesive, causing these pieces to detach from the vehicle. I am deeply concerned that if these pieces fall off while I am driving, especially on the highway, they could potentially strike another vehicle, leading to an accident. I have brought this issue to the attention of Kia, and they are aware of the problem. In fact, the necessary parts are currently on back order, which indicates that Kia recognizes the widespread nature of the defect. However, despite this acknowledgment, no interim solution has been provided. At this point, I have had to resort to using tape, at my own expense, to temporarily secure the trim pieces and prevent them from falling off. This situation is not only an inconvenience but also poses a serious safety risk to myself and others on the road. My question is: who would bear the liability if a piece were to detach and cause damage or injury to another driver? I believe that Kia, knowing about this defect, should be taking proactive measures to prevent such incidents from occurring. I urge the NHTSA to investigate this issue, as it needs to be escalated due to the potential danger it presents to public safety. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt response.
On multiple occasions, the forward automatic breaking system has forced the breaks to turn on when there was no potential collision, causing the car to auto break/slow down in the flow of traffic and nearly get rear ended. The collision warning system triggers and the breaks quickly come on, out of my/the driver’s control. It has happened multiple times with family members in the car including young kids/infants/while I was pregnant and getting rear ended would be very dangerous. I’ve taken the vehicle to the dealership twice and have been told they are unable to replicate the issue and therefore unable to help.
Turned car on to go to work and cluster infotainment screen with speedometer and gas gage was blank.
The contact owns a 2024 Kia Telluride. The contact stated while the vehicle was at the local dealer for routine maintenance, the mechanic discovered a crack in the oil pan. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 5,066.
I was backing out of a parking space and the automatic emergency brake kicked in. It scared the daylights out of me. I was actively using my mirrors and there was nothing behind me and nothing else moving for that to have happened.
When I parked my vehicle I had a little less than half a tank of gas. I started my vehicle again 2 hours later and a low fuel warning appeared. I immediately looked at the instrument panel confused and the fuel gauge had no illumination as if the tank was completely empty and miles to empty showed 121. I turned off the vehicle, waited a minute and turned it back on. Again, the low fuel warning appeared, no illumination on the fuel gauge and this time the miles to empty was a dash line. I parked the vehicle nervous to drive it anywhere in this condition. I checked it again in a couple of hours with the same result. I put 1 liter of gas in the tank and the errors disappeared and the fuel gauge now shows half tank and 140 miles to empty. There is definitely something wrong somewhere.
The contact owns a 2024 Kia Telluride. The contact stated that the vehicle had seized in 5th gear and failed to accelerate as intended. The contact stated that on several occasions while stopping at stop lights or stop signs, the vehicle failed to operate as intended. The contact stated that on another occasion, the check engine warning light illuminated and then disappeared. The vehicle was steered to the side of the roadway and restarted intermittently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure was not able to be replicated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Inferior windshield and door safety glass. Had to replace drivers side window twice and now our front windshield has a chip not caused by any object and is starting to spider crack and will need replacement for what will be the 3rd glass replacement needed in less than a year. 1st incident drivers door $503.00 09/25/2023. 2nd Driver window replaced 05/06/2024 warranty covered. 3rd incident windshield chip and cracked. Dealer appointment not until 09/16/2024
The vehicle will randomly hit the brakes hard and the collision warning system goes off. This happens when there is no obstacle or vehicle near the vehicle. It happens on 6 lane highways and the interstate. It almost caused numerous accidents before Paramount Kia's solution was to disable the navigation assisted automatic braking system.
Our telluride was less than a week after purchase and driving down the street when my wife heard a crack and a small crack appeared in lower driver side of the windshield. Before reaching home within the hour, the crack has spread across half the windshield. I dont believe there was a point of impact to cause the crack. It just happened spontaneously.
Kia has failed to remedy this in a timely manner. From the day I called to schedule when I received recall, appt was 3 weeks out. Kia then cancelled the appt and when I asked why they said they needed VIN to order part which I provided and they rescheduled the appt. I showed up for appt and they said they needed to look at car for which part (which they were to order a week prior when I provided vin and recall info). Stated it would be a week and they’d have the part and it fixed. Now are saying they have no clue when they can get us in and are not telling us if they have the part or not. This is our only vehicle and cannot drive it as it states it can catch on fire parked or while driving. I have two small children, one with medical needs. We need our vehicle and when I explained this to Kia Diehl in hermitage the manager laughed in my face. Every time I call it’s a different story. Kia is refusing to fix in a timely manner or provided rentals. I am making my car payment on a brand new 2024 vehicle that I cannot drive without reimbursement or able to receive service for a vehicle that can catch on fire. We have contacted the Kia Diehl parts 3x with no returned call on an update on when the part will be in. We were told today even if they had the part they have no upcoming appts open to fix it.
Instrument cluster went black. No sensors when changing lanes can't tell MPH, fuel levels. Car said I was driving the wrong direction.
My entire instrument cluster/dashboard display is blank. I cannot see my speed, how fast I am going, collision warnings, if my lights are on, etc. I have called the dealership, and they indicated there is no active recall. They said they cannot diagnose and fix the issue for a month. This is a major safety issue, since I have no indication of my speed or gas or anything else. It is all controlled by the dash that is blank.
Dealership (kings Kia in mason, Ohio) failed to respond to nhtsa recall. (SC316). Despite recommendation to “park outside due to risk of vehicle catching on fire” refused to fix recall in timely manner (refused to fix in next 3+ months). Unacceptable.
I was driving my 2024 KIA Telluride when the sunroof just exploded outward. It was very load and luckily I had the sunroof cover closed so no glass came inside the car. Talked with Wilde KIA in Waukesha and they said this was not covered under the warrantee and there where no recalls or safety bulletins regarding this issue. I looked online and there were numerous people that had experienced the same problem.
Dashboard not illuminating when car is turned on. I am able to drive the car without knowing what speed the car is going or how much fuel is remaining. I drove the car two hours turned it off prior to this issue. No warning lights were shown in the previous drive.
The contact owns a 2024 Kia Telluride. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V407000 (Seats); however, the contact was informed by two local dealers that the vehicle could not be taken in for the recall until late fall. The contact stated that the dealer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
The contact owns a 2024 Kia Telluride. The contact received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 24V214000 (Power Train) and 24V407000 (Seats); however, the parts to do the recall repairs were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The contact stated that after parking the vehicle, the vehicle started rolling backwards while the contact and spouse were standing outside of the vehicle securing their children in the rear seats. The contact’s spouse quickly jumped into the vehicle to activate the parking brake to stop the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The dealer was contacted where the vehicle had remained for approximately 2 1/2 months. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was unknown. Parts distribution disconnect.
The electronic instrument panel stopped working suddenly. I am unable to see important gauges including speed, gas in the tank, etc...
Upon starting car, display control cluster was black. No visibility of speedometer, turn signals, or any other vehicle control are visible. Restarting vehicle did not correct issue.
I took delivery of my new Telluride on 9/27/2023. On 11/22/2023 I started getting a warning message on my dashboard that my battery was discharging due to external electrical devices. There was nothing on in the vehicle, nor was there anything plugged into the vehicle. This message would come up after the vehicle had been sitting for a number of hours. This message came on on 4 or 5 different occasions. Then on 11/29/2023 my entire dashboard went blank. Nothing would show on it, not even the speedometer. The car was running, and everything else was working fine. I called the dealership where I bought the vehicle and I was able to get it in that day. I picked up the vehicle the next day. It was some sort of computer problem and they were able to fix it quickly. What makes me most irritated is it happened when my vehicle was less than 2 months old. And my son and daughter-in-law also bought a Telluride at the same time as I did, and they just had to bring it in to the dealership for the exact same issue. Two out of two vehicles with that same issue is scary, and very frustrating that we spend that much money on a vehicle and it has these types of computer problems before they are even a year old. Including the safety recall that has been issued for the vehicle, another computer problem.
THE CAR HAS A SURROUND VIEW MONITOR THAT TURNS OFF AT 7 MILES INSTREAD OF THE 9 MILES ADVERTISED. THE MONITOR IS DESIGNED TO HELP WITH PARKING AND SHOW A 3D VIEW. HELPS WITH PARKING ASSISTANCE.
I bought a Kia Telluride on [XXX]. I drove it to Michigan on [XXX]. During the trip, a highway pebble kicked up from the tire of a truck in front of me and hit the windshield. The chip from the rock cracked the windshield from the passenger side to the driver side of the vehicle in a matter of minutes. I researched this Kia Telluride windshield incident via the internet, and there is evidence that it is due to manufacturer negligence. The windshield is defective, and a class action lawsuit has been filed. In 2020, Kia even sent letters to owners offering to correct the problem. The windshield failed and it is available for inspection. The crack in the windshield is a visual impairment for the driver. The problem hasn't been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or mechanic. The vehicle component hasn't been inspected by the manufacturer or others. There were no warning lights or messages. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The dash above the steering wheel is not lighting up to show me the speed, gas, rpm. Or any other lights. My safety and others is at risk because I am not able to know my speed or any malfunctions that would other wise be displayed on the dash. This just happened and I cannot reach the dealership until tomorrow. This has not been inspected by anyone as of now. No other warning lights or symptoms prior to this.
The contact owns a 2024 Kia Telluride. The contact stated that while reversing the back over prevention camera failed to display an image, creating a visibility hazard for the driver. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 22,000. The VIN was not available.
Trim is coming off below windows. Can be a hazard if it comes off in traffic and flys into another vehicle.
The contact owns a 2024 Kia Telluride. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V077000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and a case was opened. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
The windshield on my 2024 Kia Telluride developed a small crack while driving on an highway. There was no construction vehicles in front of us or any construction happening on the road and were driving with significant distance from the vehicle in front. The windshield cracked by itself and upon inspecting the crack it’s clear that the crack was more within the glass instead of an external element. This could be potentially related to the known issue with kia’s defective windshields for model years till 2023. I believe 2024 model year also exhibits the same issue. I request Kia to look into 2024 model years and initiate a recall to replace the defective windshields.
All 4 windows have an Auto up/down feature on the driver door switches. Intermittently the auto up/down feature does not work on 1 of the 4 windows randomly. If I roll all 4 windows down for example and then decide to roll all 4 up, sometimes 3 out of the 4 windows will roll up auto with 1 touch, and the random 1 window that decides to not roll up automatically will work by holding the button up manually and then resetting it by continuing to hold up while the window is all the up for 3-5 seconds. This fixes it temporarily until the next time. I can not recreate the problem, if I use the key fob and hold the unlock bottom to open all 4 windows, sometimes 3 out of the 4 windows will open and the last one has to be manually reset. The dealership looked at it and reset the window they mentioned, the problem still exists. Could go without an issue for a few days or multiple times a day and it's any of the 4 windows at any time.
Was driving on highway. Did hear a pebble/rock impact the right side of my windshield. No visible signs of a chip or damage. Finished trip. Hours later, took a short trip, still no visible signs of damage. 2 hours later, returned to car to find a crack had appeared that went from bottom right corner of windshield to about 1/3 of the way across. Don’t believe the impact should have been significant to crack the windshield
While driving the digital instrument panel has gone completely black and nothing is showing. In turn making it dangerous as I have no idea how fast I am going, how much gas in the car, etc. The radio side is fine but its just where your old school odometers etc use to be ,back when the world wasn't all digital. I have called and they acted like its the first time they have heard about it , but it seems to be an issue when researching online. From 2022 all the way up to now. I am taking the car in today but wanted to report this as this issue is still an issue with the Kia Telluride.
The contact owns a 2024 Kia Telluride. The contact stated while driving at approximately 25 MPH with the Snow Mode activated, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to respond. The contact stated that the accelerator pedal failure only occurred while driving with the Snow Mode feature activated. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was test-driven with the service manager and the failure was replicated. The contact stated that the vehicle remained with the local dealer, but the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 450.
The hold display went black , stop vehicle turn off car and restart everything came back up . Had to go back into the control settings to turn on radio& lost all stations that was saved also lost all my saved place on navigation system . A few days late try to start the car it wouldn’t start by pushing the start button, it said I had to use my key Bob to push the start button to start it . Then it started
The front passenger power seat folded in on my son while I was driving yesterday without warning. The back rest moved forward causing my son to have to bend over to move with it. At first, the seat would not move but he was able to after a few minutes. I immediately pulled over to ensure there was nothing in the way to cause this to happen, but I did not see anything there. I'm not sure if this is related to the recent recall, but it is a safety risk not only to my passenger but also to me as the driver. I have not had it inspected, and I am available to have it inspected upon request. I called the dealership that I purchased my vehicle from, and they stated that they have no knowledge of this incident happening with any other vehicle.
I purchased my 2024 Kia LX AWD Telluride on 2/29/24, it had approximately 2,100 miles when my cluster screen went black. This occurred on 5/25/24 without warning. I went to turn my truck on and was unable to read the speedometer, RPM, gas gauge, mileage, and engine temperature. The blindspots warning, or other safety warnings were not working properly. When using the navigation system it wouldn't work properly. It seemed as though it was confused on the direction I was going. I called the dealership where I purchased the vehicle and they were able to get me in for a service repair in 1.5 weeks. Dropped my vehicle off and came back for it a couple hours later. They mentioned the electrical was fine, and could have been that it was loose, and a bump in the road could have caused it. Although, the screen didn't go out while I was driving. They also fixed other items that it has recalls for, such as, radiator cover, and ABS. I was not charged for any of these repairs/services. The dealership was very friendly and responsive.
When I was sitting in my vehicle with the car running, the entire electronic dashboard (panoramic and front view dash) went completely dark. The car was still running but the vehicle did not have any information on display.
Windshield Cracking with minor damage. Vehicle has 7,500 miles

[XXX] Driving down [XXX] towards Jackson, MS, a fine line crack appeared in windshield approximately 6 inches up from the dash starting at pillar on driver side of windshield with a small peck less than a 1/4 inch about 1 inch from the pillar and extending horizontally approximately 4 inches across the windshield. By the time we arrived in Jackson the crack extended 12" across. By the time we arrived back home the crack was approximately 16" across. We never saw or heard anything related to the crack until we noticed it. This was first trip in the car since engine was replaced under SC296 recall. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Windshield was chipped on two separate occasions in a less than 24 hour period.
Purchased new vehicle (Kia Telluride) 4/27/24 and on 5/1/24 the windshield has a crack on the passenger side. Not even a week in or 100 miles and already a problem, how is this not covered under any warranty. 3rd time driving the car. Awful quality
The drivers screen has gone black and the odometer, speedometer, gas guage won't work. The odometer has been stuck at 5570 according to the app since the event even though I was able to drive to and from work that same day. The blind spot warnings are not working and either is the navigation. The light for the shift is also not working. The car is only 5 months old.

There was a small impact on windshield and huge crack appeared on it
I have a few issues: 1. I can be driving on an empty road and I get alerted that I am about to hit someone and it brakes on its own. With no one in sight in either direction. 2. My alarm keeps going off when I leave the vehicle due to motion being detected but no one is in the vehicle and it is locked. 3. My lane assistance has tried running me off the road multiple times. 4. When I park my car continues to rolls
The display in front of the steering wheel when out yesterday. It is completely black. We have only had the vehicle for three months. There is no way to know what speed you are driving, how much fuel you have, see any warnings or anything! The KIA dealer said they can check out the problem next Wednesday, April 3, which is one week from when the problem occurred. This is a major hazard to not know your speed or be able to receive any warnings.
The instrument panel in front of the driver is black. I’m unable to see the speed limit, warnings, safety or collision warnings, etc. The vehicle is not making any noise or beeping to allude to the fact that there might be an issue but the Kia app is stating that there is an issue. I have used the vehicle yesterday 3/23/24 with no issues and when I went to drive this morning (3/24/24) it’s not working.
Second day we owned this brand new vehicle we had a small rock hit the windshield at highway speed. The impact created an immediate chip and small star in the glass. Within 2 hours it had cracked over 6 inches. I have never had a windshield crack so fast and large after a rock impact. The size of the chip would not lead you to believe the windshield would crack. I have read multiple complaints of this exact same issue.
My dashboard keeps producing these errors 1. Check lane change assist 2. Check blind sport safety system 3. Check forward safety system 4. Check parking collision avoidance assist system 5. Check lane safety system Also, My engine light is on and it’s not shifting right and I can’t drive it now. There's also a burning rubber smell. The driving speed isn't working correctly and will say I'm going 0mph when I'm going 25. When driving, it sometimes jolts.
Digital dash that displays speed, ROM etc is blank
The Forward Collision Warning has been turning on and off for no reason. River Oak Kia has checked the system once. My windshield has cracked twice. I am having a third windshield installed when I obtain the funds. I purchased the car on 12/30/2023. The windshield has cracked two time and I am about to install third windshield. I am having the same problem with my 2021 palisade.
On multiple occasions, the automatic braking has engaged while reversing even though there has been no risk of collision. It has happened with no cars, pedestrians, or other obstacles in sight. The brakes engage suddenly and with no warning causing the car to come to a violent stop. In one case it happened while reversing off a main road into our driveway. The sudden and unnecessary stop meant that the front of car was jutting into the main road with oncoming traffic. In other cases, it has just caused immediate unnecessary concern that we have hit something. It is possible to disable this functionality but the setting cannot be saved - so it needs to be disabled every time you turn on the car. We have engaged with the dealer and with KIA directly and neither have offered any solution to the problem. The suggestion seems to be that this is normal behavior for the car. From my perspective this is a defective system and is dangerous. At a minimum, it should be possible to disable it completely.
There is a design defect in my 2024 Kia Telluride. There is no protection for the condenser/radiator. My air conditioner did not work. Brought it to dealer, dealer said a foreign object penetrated the condenser. I asked how it happened, dealer said there is no protection for the radiator or condenser so this problem may happen again and again. Kia does not offer a screen to be installed in front of condenser/radiator. My bill to repair was $2,400. Plus car rental of $100.. I have Asthma and it was almost impossible for me to drive the 200 miles to get the car to service. I contacted Kia claim # 16235056 and was told they will not help.
I went into the dealership to have the air condition system looked at because on 2/27/2024, the weather was warm enough to have the ac on while driving home. The ac was not working as far as cooling, it was just blowing hot air. No indication of any issue with the coolant system at all. I call and make an appointment to the dealership to have this looked at on 3/02/2024 and they said that the condenser was damaged. They said that they thought it might be from debris from the road, I said at that point I believe it to be a defect on design. They gave a song and dance in regards to my logic but then did say that KIA is aware of the issue but it doesn't happen to much. I have also checked to see if this was and is a design problem, seeing that this particular issue has been going on for several years it should be corrected. This item and the rest of the front of the vehicle go through a lot of stuff over it's time on the road or off-road. Which brings up the other issue that this is an off-road SUV made to not be on regular road conditions whatever they are. This SUV has never been off-road and I have not done anything to the vehicle to cause this issue. It is a design defect and needs to be corrected.
The contact's father owns a 2024 Kia Telluride. The contact stated that after parking the vehicle while away from home, the entire instrument panel had gone blank upon the start of the engine without warning. Due to the failure, the contact could not view the gear position, speedometer, odometer, and several other safety-related features. The dealer was notified of the failure and an appointment was scheduled. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 1,600.
My windshield just split across the driver side in my brand new 2024. I just made the first payment last week. My 2021 did the same thing and had 11 different places it cracked. It's as if anything touches them they split!
A rock hit the windshield for 1000 miles and completely shattered the front windshield. The rock was the size of a small pebble.
When in snow mode the Vehicle basically shuts all power down when going up an incline from a complete stop. You can’t accelerate at all the gas pedal just goes flat and feels like you’ve lost control of the vehicle completely. This is the third time this has happened. This time The vehicle behind me was inches away from slamming into the back of me. This is a huge safety issue.
After owning this brand new car for less than 2 months, I've had 2 rocks hit my windshield and resulting in cracks. Those rocks were not big and I wouldn't have expected those to result in actual windshield cracks. After looking this up, it seems that this is a common issues with Kia Telluride and that the quality of the windshields is not great.
VEHICLE has 650 miles now. It was leased from Kia. I noticed the brakes fading when at a long stop light or stop sign. Vehicle would start to roll/creep forward and brake pedal would drop slightly. The longer the stop light the more this would happen. When this happened as I was parking I left the vehicle and called the Kia help number and had the vehicle transported to Kia dealership. This was 10JAN2024. The dealership notified me that the could find no problem. I picked the vehicle up and drove home. The same problem occurred and I had the vehicle transported to the dealership. They replaced the brake master cylinder and ABS module. They notified me it was repaired. When I check the brakes the pedal still slowly went down. I refused to take the vehicle and left it at the dealership. The vehicle had been at the dealership for over 30 days before they notified me it was repaired.
Windshield cracked 12 days after purchase
Incident 1: Seatbelt was fastened as I returned from picking a child up from school. As we turned into our driveway my seatbelt unlatched unexpectedly. In addition, none of the warnings sounded that typically notify you when someone has taken off their seatbelt prematurely. Incident 2: I was pulling onto a main road from a side road when my seatbelt unlatched. None of the safety warning sounds came on. In both situations there was nothing near my seatbelt that could have accidentally depressed the button (and if there had been there should have been a seatbelt warning). Both incidents occurred close to or as I was making a right turn at slow speed.
Vehicle has 6k miles. Upon starting for the evening commute, dashboard is blank screen - will not give speedometer, odometer readings or fuel levels. Other lights on gearshifter not working. GPS not reading correctly. Blind spot detection not functioning. Can get the screen to display the brightness indicator, but that refuses to leave the display, even when car turned off - assumedly a drain on the battery. This left us unable to identify our speed or how much fuel we had. The dealership indicated that this problem was seen in 2022 Tellurides and was typically fixed by a reset + system update. The dealership did fix the problem, but not sure of what the root cause is.
The contact owns a 2024 Kia Telluride. The contact stated that while driving at 5 MPH, the contact enabled the snow traction feature. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal and the vehicle lost motive power. The contact stated that the failure had occurred twice. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 4,201.
I purchased this vehicle brand new and has the panoramic screen. It blacks out and when that happens I am not able to use any of my safety features. I have taken it back to Kia service 3 times and it still happens. I don't know what to do. I have heard some other owners have the same problems. I have a video. It started the first week I bought it on 7/24/2023.
Windshield crack appeared spontaneously while driving at 20mph in parking lot. No known impact with rock or other projectile, I had been driving the car for 3 hours at that point. Crack is approximately 10 inches long, from passenger side lower edge toward center of windshield.
The panoramic instrument cluster would not display any information. Since the entire instrument cluster is electronic, no information on vehicle speed, rpms, gas, battery, etc. could be shown. Vehicle would still start fine and drive fine, but vital driving information could not be displayed
The contact owns a 2024 Kia Telluride. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 MPH in snow mode, the vehicle failed to accelerate as needed. The vehicle was started but was unable to drive as needed for approximately 30 minutes. The contact stated that after turning off and restarting the vehicle, the vehicle returned to normal operation. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and had the vehicle towed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 1,748.
Within the first 1000 miles my windshield chipped. Now at 8000 miles, there is another crack. Seems to be a common issue with this vehicle that the windshield is soft and not durable.
I purchased my new Kia Telluride on 10/28. On 11/10 I was driving on the highway when I heard a rattling noise from the engine and realized I was losing speed, with an unresponsive gas pedal. I was in a construction zone and managed to find a safe place to pull over - but it was an extremely dangerous situation. As I sat on the side of the highway, I realized the steering wheel had locked and all electricals had also gone down. There were only 300 miles on the car at the time. The diagnosis is that the “engine seized” but there is no known cause - likely a manufacturer’s defect.
Kia connect safety services are not available in Massachusetts due to Kia not complying with the right to repair law. When in an accident emergency services are not called and this poses a big safety threat as there is a delay to services arriving to help in the case of an accident. Kia should be forced to separate the telematics service information from key emergency services capabilities so that this car and every Kia in Massachusetts has the equivalent safety capabilites to others
The contact owns a 2024 Kia Telluride. The contact stated that while driving with the vehicle in Snow Mode, the vehicle failed to accelerate as needed. The contact switched to Sport Mode for the vehicle to respond and accelerate as needed. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that while his wife was driving and switching to Snow Mode, the accelerator pedal was depressed, and depressed to the floorboard but the vehicle failed to accelerate. The driver switched to Sport Mode to drive the vehicle as needed. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 5,800. The VIN was not available.
We bought a 2024 Kia Telluride and had it literally 2 weeks long with about 684 miles. My husband and I were driving on a major highway and suddenly we hear a noise and engine line pops up on screen. Car proceeds to literally shut off, the wheel locked up, and we barely made it to shoulder of highway. This was huge safety issue, we had cars honking and speeding by us at 70+. We called the Kia roadside assistance who didn’t get a tow truck there till 3 hours later. We don’t have anything paper wise yet from the service department . They called and said engine was seized and needing replacement. We are very concerned about getting new engine that could potentially do this again.
The windsheild easily cracks. Less than 1000 miles and it cracked.
Within a week of taking delivery of my car after purchase the lower right corner of my windshield developed a 16" crack. To my knowledge, my windshield had not been struck by any object and I had only driven it 300 miles since picking it up. The crack is a safety issue as it limits or inhibits visibility through the windshield.
The bottom bolt that attaches the second row driver side seatbelt to the side of the car came loose and fell out when a passenger tried to buckle up.
Car was traveling down the road at 45 miles an hour. The windshield cracked under normal driving conditions. Living in Iowa this would fall under the class action.
Brand new 2024 Kia Telluride. Came outside this morning to see a nice crack across the drivers side of the windshield happen before my eyes when I turned on defrost and windshield wipers for the rain. I see this was a common problem with 2023 Kia's. Also after speaking to Service dept (Gay Kia, Dickinson, TX). I truly get the feeling this is still an issue. Biggest down side to this, is they tell me they cant even get me a 2024 telluride windshield right now. if you rub your finger across windshield you definitely can feel a extremely small chip feeling in the glass.
I was driving down the highway at 65mph and my 2024 Kia Telluride sunroof violently imploded. I pulled over thinking I was shot at by a gun, but there was no evidence that I was hit by something. It felt like an explosion next to my face. Very loud! I have 490 miles on this vehicle. I have called Kia dealership and they are going to investigate and call me back. No warnings went off in the vehicle and I was not harmed but I do have anxiety now. Worried it will happen again once fixed. I honestly felt like this was a safety issue and so I went online only to find this has happened to others all over. Not sure how this has happened to so many others and there is no recalls. Please help me understand. This was very scary.
UNKNOWN - We have discovered a substantial amount of water coming up from the flooring behind the passenger seat under the second row of our 2024 KIA Telluride purchased 2 months ago. Took the dealership this morning and after 4 hours attempting to diagnose where the water was coming from, they were unsuccessful. They checked AC lines, making sure nothing was disconnected or clogged, checked seals on doors, etc. They got the vehicle lifted to look underneath and were able to remove a panel to expose a rubber gasket that they removed under the second row passenger flooring and water gushed out! Additionally, the vehicle has begun to smell of mildew/mold and I am concerned for my young families safety, as I have three children under the age of 5 that spend a significant part of their day in the vehicle between drop-off and pick-up at school, to and from extra curricular activities, errands, etc. The dealership is attempting to obtain a loaner vehicle large enough for our three car seats so that they can have the vehicle for a day or two to officially diagnose the issue, but I am devastated that the significant amount of water we’ve been removing from the car has caused mold in the cabin and will cause burnout of wiring/electronics in the future. We are a military family, this is our first brand new vehicle and the primary vehicle for our large family. We purchased the vehicle in July and it had less than 3,000 miles when the issue was reported. It’s terrifying to think that this issue could potentially cost us thousands on the devaluation of our vehicle in addition to the risk to our family’s health and safety.
WINOW SATIN TRIM - Rust spots showing on the satin trim around vehicle windows upon receipt of vehicle. Contacted original dealership that sold us the vehicle about the issue immediately, no assistance was given. Took the vehicle to another dealership this morning to notify them of the issue, have it officially documented, and request a warranty request be submitted. The vehicle had never been washed or detailed prior to the appearance of the spots. Unfortunately, the vehicle arrived from the dealership with the rust-looking defect. After some quick research, this seems to be an ongoing issue with some KIAs, regardless of model. I have owned this vehicle for 2 months and notified the same dealership that it was purchased from immediately upon receipt and no assistance has been given, just a suggestion to clean it. The spots have not lessened. I would like my brand new car purchase to look like a new vehicle, sans rust-like defects on satin trim.
Vehicle at 700 miles is having suspension issues causing bumping and shaking during the ride making it unsafe.
4 days after I bought the car brand new on an off ramp going about 30mph a car sent a pebble into my windshield. It made a chip and then a crack about 12” long. Called Kia dealership and they said they won’t repair because rock hit windshield. There is a class action lawsuit against Kia and their windshields cracking. Upon waiting for insurance and a new windshield 3 days later the crack has gotten bigger without driving. It is a hazard because glass could shatter and now the crack is disturbing visibility
Only had vehicle 2 weeks and a small debris (pebble or dirt) hit windshield only going around 30mph and windshield chipped. When trying to do windshield repair kit on chip, the chip turned into a long crack. I had seen class action lawsuits where telluride windshields were weak/defective and this still seems to be the case.
While driving under normal conditions and with significant distance from another vehicle in front of me, a small rock/pebble hit the windshield of my vehicle, which caused a rock chip. The rock chip quickly "spidered" out and spread within a matter of an hour. Currently there are known and report manufacturer defects with regards to Kia windshields, specific but not limited to the Telluride model. In my case I have a 2024 Kia Telluride SX-Prestige X-Pro. I have also discovered a chip in the rear passenger side window. My vehicle is approximately 23 days from the date of purchase (7/8/2024). I am aware that there is an open Class Action Lawsuit against Kia for 2019-2022 Telluride model vehicles. This needs to be extended through to the 2024 model years.
Component Failure Cascade Risk
Known patterns where one defect leads to more severe downstream failures
▸ Head gasket failure and engine overheating — EGR cooler failure is the leading cause of catastrophic engine failure on diesel engines
Complaint & Reliability Timeline
Annual complaints (blue) vs. composite reliability score (amber) — recall years marked in red
The blue line shows 195 total NHTSA complaints filed over 4 years, with the worst year being 2024 (86 complaints).
The amber reliability line averaged 10/100 across the vehicle's life — dropping as low as 10 in 2023 when complaint severity peaked.
The recall (red dashed line) followed the first complaints by 1 year — a typical response window; neither unusually fast nor a pattern of denial.
Red dots on the amber line flag 2 years (2025, 2026) where complaints included crash events — these are the highest-severity incidents in the dataset.
