ODI #11743693ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER

The Around View Monitor (AVM) system failed. The rear backup camera image no longer functions properly due to a failed AVM control unit. The vehicle is a 2023 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum equipped with Nissan’s camera-based surround view and backup camera system. The vehicle has been diagnosed by an authorized Nissan dealership, and the failed component remains installed in the vehicle and is available for inspection. The failure disabled the vehicle’s backup camera and related camera-based visibility systems. This significantly reduces rearward visibility while backing up and increases the risk of striking pedestrians, children, pets, vehicles, or objects that may not be visible through mirrors alone. Drivers have come to rely on the backup camera system as an important safety feature, and its sudden failure creates a safety hazard during parking and low-speed maneuvers. The problem was diagnosed and confirmed by an authorized Nissan dealership. The dealership determined that the Around View Monitor (AVM) control unit had failed and advised that the module requires replacement. The vehicle has not been inspected by police or insurance representatives. Nissan corporate has not yet physically inspected the vehicle to my knowledge. The backup camera system functioned normally until it suddenly stopped working. There were no warning lights, messages, prior malfunctions, collisions, or damage that would have indicated a problem. The failure occurred without warning. I purchased this 2023 Nissan Pathfinder only one month ago, and the AVM system suddenly failed after just a few weeks of ownership. The dealership diagnosed a failed AVM control unit and quoted approximately $3,400 ($2800 parts and $600 labor) for repair. A critical rear-visibility safety system should not fail unexpectedly in a vehicle this new. The repair cost is prohibitive, leaving us owners without an important safety feature. Nissan should investigate and assist affected owners.

I am reporting a recurring defect involving the sunroof drain system in my 2023 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum that has caused multiple interior flooding incidents. The vehicle has flooded three separate times due to failure of the sunroof drainage system. Water enters the cabin during rain events and accumulates inside the vehicle, causing damage to the interior and raising concerns about potential electrical system exposure and safety hazards. This issue has been addressed by a Nissan dealership on multiple occasions; however, the defect has not been permanently resolved and continues to reoccur. The repeated failure of the drainage system indicates a potential design or manufacturing defect rather than normal wear or maintenance-related issues. Water intrusion into the cabin creates safety concerns including: Potential damage to electrical components Risk of mold and air quality issues inside the vehicle Driver distraction and reduced vehicle reliability Despite multiple repair attempts, the issue persists. Nissan has declined further assistance due to the vehicle being outside of the warranty period, even though the defect is ongoing and unresolved. I am submitting this complaint to document a potential systemic issue with the sunroof drainage system that may affect other vehicles of the same model.

My vehicle has the idle stop feature. When at a red light, the vehicle shut off and went into idle mode. However, when the light turned green, and I removed my foot from the brake and pressed the gas, nothing happened. The vehicle had shut off entirely and when I turned it back on, it was in neutral. I had to put the vehicle in drive. I had 2 children in the car with me and it was very nerve racking to have a plethora of vehicles stuck behind me honking their horns because I was not moving for a green light. Now mind you, the speed limit on this road is 45 mph. If traffic was flowing, we could of been rear ended. I think we got really lucky on this day. I purchased this vehicle 8 days ago. I researched this issue and it is a common issue, however, there is no recall for it. https://www.reddit.com/r/nissanpathfinder/comments/14ov95d/2023_pathfinder_auto_start_issue_shifts_to/

On my 2023 Nissan Pathfinder I have approximately 25000 miles on it. When I step on the brakes, there is a noticable vibration as if the rotors are warped and pads worn. The brakes and rotors should not be an issue this soon.

ODI #11713250UNKNOWN OR OTHER

I am reporting a failure of the Around View Monitor / camera system on my 2023 Nissan Pathfinder. The system stopped functioning completely without warning. Pressing the camera button does nothing, the camera cannot be activated through vehicle settings, and no camera views (rear, front, or surround) are available. Parking sensors and the infotainment screen continue to work, indicating a system-level electronic failure rather than user error or a single camera issue. This vehicle relies on the camera system for rear visibility and low-speed maneuvering. The loss of this system reduces driver visibility and increases the risk of collision, especially when reversing or parking. The failure occurred despite normal use and maintenance, with no prior warnings or messages to the driver. The vehicle is only a few years old, yet the repair involves replacement of a major electronic control module at significant cost. This appears to be a premature failure of a safety-related electronic system. I am concerned this may affect other vehicles of the same model year and configuration.

ODI #11712591FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM,BACK OVER PREVENTION

My vehicle has had 3 fuel pump failures in under a year, requiring 3 separate fuel pump replacements by an authorized Nissan dealership. The fuel pump failure causes the vehicle without warning to stall in active traffic, loss of power and the drivers seat to move back away from the steering wheel. The infotainment center has also failed 2 times and had to be replaced 2 separate times by an authorized Nissan dealership. The infotainment center failures also cause the back up and side view cameras to become inoperable. The vehicle and repair records are available for inspection upon request. My safety and the safety of others is put at risk because the repeated and unpredictable fuel pump failures cause the engine to stall in active traffic and the loss of power. This is unsafe because the stalling has happened in hazardous situations like while exiting the interstate. The drivers seat also moves away from the steering wheel and brake while the car is in motion creating a risk of loss of control. Additionally, when the infotainment system fails so do the side view and back up cameras increasing the risk of an accident. Although the vehicle is currently operational, the pattern of failures creates an ongoing safety risk. An authorized Nissan dealership confirmed the failures and replaced the fuel pump three times and the infotainment system twice. The vehicle was inspected and repaired multiple times by an authorized Nissan dealership, and the issues were reported to Nissan Consumer Affairs. The failures occurred intermittently and without warning.

ODI #11706465SERVICE BRAKES

I am reporting a concern regarding premature rear brake pad and rotor wear on a 2023 Nissan Pathfinder that appears inconsistent with mileage and normal driving conditions and may indicate a brake system design or control issue. The vehicle was purchased as Nissan Certified Pre-Owned with approximately 4,000 miles and has received multiple Nissan dealer inspections with no brake concerns noted. A Nissan Vehicle Health Report issued shortly before the issue indicated “No Action Required” for the brake system. At approximately 14,600 miles, a Nissan dealer measured the rear brake pads at approximately 3 mm, while the front brakes were still in good condition. A second inspection by an independent repair facility confirmed advanced rear brake wear and further determined that the rear brake rotors were damaged and not serviceable. The independent shop advised returning the vehicle to Nissan because the wear pattern was not consistent with mileage or normal driving behavior. Rear brakes wearing significantly faster than front brakes is atypical. The vehicle has not been used for aggressive driving, towing, or severe duty. A Nissan service advisor stated that they have seen early rear brake wear on Nissan Pathfinders and suggested it may be related to the Auto Hold brake feature. The Auto Hold feature is not used on this vehicle, raising concern that brake system logic, electronic parking brake behavior, or control software may be contributing to unintended brake application or drag. Premature rear brake and rotor wear could reduce braking effectiveness, increase stopping distance, and create a potential safety risk, especially if drivers are unaware of accelerated brake degradation. I am submitting this complaint to document a potential pattern of early rear brake system wear on this vehicle model for safety review.

Premature wear on rear brakes and dealers tells there fine each time I’ve taken it in for service I don’t think they even test driven the car is shakes and vibrates when you brake at speeds higher than 30-40 mph. They advised me the battery needs replacing on the last service that it’s showing some sort of signs that needs to be replaced. The heated seats on the passenger side just stopped working all of a sudden. From what I can see online from forums and people complains these are common issues on this vehicle and they are pushed on the customer. I will see what can be covered under warranty but it seems only the seat issue would be covered. This needs to be addressed the brakes are too small and under powered for this size of a vehicle especially if you are towing. It appear they wear out prematurely if your using the cruise control which I don’t use a often or drive down mountain sides or tow at the moment so it doesn’t make sense I have a 2023 Nissan pathfinder with less than 28000 miles. I will be taking the vehicle in soon to address these issues as the tech spoke to me about the battery only when I went in for an oil change and I refused the battery since the vehicle has not had any issue or sign or needing a battery and they would not cover it telling me it was more preventative.

Forward warning system dashboard light goes on and does not shut off. Module has been replaced at a cost of $2500 and this has not solved the problem. The control buttons located on the steering wheel of the newer model Nissan Pathfinder are malfunctioning. These buttons control numerous functions and sensors. What's happening is, the spring action of the buttons are failing and the button is loose. This causes the button to make contact as if it was pushed without touching it, simply driving over a bump. Some of these buttons control warning sensors for the vehicle, anti-collision, parking, blind spot, etc. Numerous people are complaining about this online. Several have said their dealer service department acknowledges that this is a known issue. I contacted Nissan customer service and they told me there is no information in their system about this problem and any repair would be out of pocket by the customer. This is a very expensive repair. This issue must be addressed. There are too many Pathfinder owners having the exact same problem. Please look into this. Thank you

Vehicle Year: 2023 Make: Nissan Model: Pathfinder Platinum 4WD VIN: [XXX] Mileage: 24,500 Date First Noticed: October 8, 2025 Problem: The panoramic sunroof drain system is defective, causing water to leak into the cabin during rain, dripping from the driver-side overhead console and door area. This matches Nissan TSB NTB23-073 (Oct 9, 2023), which admits a design flaw in the front drain grommets (Part #76938-5NA0A) leading to poor drainage and clogs—even from normal environmental debris like sand in Florida. The vehicle was built November 2022, well within the 3-year/36,000-mile warranty. Nissan dealer (Nissan of Naples) inspected (Oct 9, 2025) but performed an inadequate diagnosis: only a photo of sand in the tray, no water intrusion test, no drain line analysis, and no TSB verification. They charged $207.54 and denied warranty, claiming "environmental concern" and "outside influence" (sand clog, not defect)—contrary to the Owner's Manual (pp. 2-121/2-122), which requires zero drain maintenance. Nissan Consumer Affairs (Case XXX) upheld the denial, refusing written explanation. BBB complaint (NIS2519919) and FL Lemon Law Form 1A filed Nov 6—still unresolved. Safety Risks: - Mold/mildew growth in headliner (health hazard). - Electrical shorts in overhead console (lights, controls, airbags). - Driver distraction from water dripping near visor/windshield. This defect impairs safe operation and could affect others. Nissan must recall/fix under warranty. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I brought my 2023 Nissan Pathfinder in for an oil change and tire rotation at 33, 221 miles and was informed my rear brake pads were worn and my rotors needed to be re-surfaced. I understand this is a long standing issue with 2022 and 2023 Nissan Pathfinders. I rive 95% highway miles , never use my cruise control or electronic parking brake. I understand the rear brake pads are considerably smaller than the front pads causing an early wear issue. I also understand there is a class action law suit in the US District Court of Tennessee for this issue as well . Rear brakes needed to be replaced at 20,000 miles. Dealership stated it was normal for electronic brakes to go out that early, which is absurd. Took the car to another mechanic to have the work done, turns out it was a defect in the assembly of the car and the brakes were not fully releasing so we basically were riding our brakes for 20,000 miles. According to the dealership they were getting a lot of this model in for brakes needing replacement. This needs to be looked into for a recall. I have a video of the mechanic showing the issue that I can send in if need be. This is a major safety concern considering if the brakes were to go out because of this or if the brakes would have fully not released causing potential for being hit from behind.

ODI #11694737POWER TRAIN

Heard a high pitch whistle sound coming from front right of vehicle when accelerating. Mechanic confirmed it’s a vacuum leak in the intake manifold runner. Nissan says this is not part of powertrain warranty will not cover. Last I checked the intake is part of powertrain. Vehicle has 40,000 miles on it. Have seen multiple other complaints about this issue online. Part is on a national back order at the moment. The fact that their demand is that high for this part should speak volumes. I believe this should be looked into as a possible recall. If an intake runner vacuum leak is not repaired, it will lead to a lean air-fuel mixture causing engine misfires, a rough idle, poor acceleration, and potential stalling which could all contribute to a possible accident.

I had to cruise all the way across two lanes with NO acceleration, but my flashers and the grace of god. The issue appears related to the mass airflow sensor, which was already replaced six months ago. I’ve had repeated issues, and neither the dealership nor Nissan has resolved it. The dealership manager even told me rudely that he would unplug the mass air flow sensor and leave it up front for me to come pick it up, because of my attitude. I took the car in for the NYS inspection and was told that I need new rear brakes. The car is only a year old and has only 16,000 miles on it. Nissan’s own website says that brakes should last between 30-70k miles. I looked into this and found out that premature rear brake failure is a common issue with the new Pathfinder. Nissan is refusing to replace the brakes under warranty, even though it’s clearly a manufacturer’s defect for brakes to fail this quickly. This is a safety concern, because Pathfinder owners could be driving around with bad brakes, expecting them to last 2-4 times longer than they actually do. Brakes failing in one year is completely unacceptable for a modern vehicle. Nissan should recall all Pathfinders and replace the rear brakes for free for anyone affected by this. They should also figure out why the rear brakes are failing early on all of these cars and fix it. I found that there are several class action lawsuits forming around this issue. I filed a complaint with Nissan corporate and they completely dismissed me. They said that brakes are not covered under warranty, since it’s normal wear and tear. I’d argue that brakes failing at 16,000 miles is excessive and abnormal wear, even according to the standards that they set themselves. This is a manufacturer’s defect and a safety concern for drivers, who may not know that they are driving with faulty brakes.

Follow up to my prior complaint (NHTSA ID Number: 11568968). Sandy Sansing Nissan in Pensacola, Florida replaced the fuel pump and the front forward detection sensor. We also had to have the middle row, middle seatbelt replaced due the sensor not working. We have had the vehicle back for a week and the problems have continued, if not gotten worse. The vehicle has stalled out multiple times, 3 days in a row, nearly causing my wife and children to be rear-ended by a semi truck on 2 occasions. The issue is the vehicle gets to about 27 mph, revs up to 6K rpms, stops moving forward and begins to slow down (at 6K rpms), warning lights like the oil light kick on along with several other lights, and the vehicle stalls, forcing the driver to glide off the roadway. My wife took a photo of the dash as she was gliding off the road and it shows the vehicle still in D (drive) at 0 mph and 1k rpms, whatever that means since the car was still rolling. Once off the road, she has to turn the car off to get it to reset so she can move forward. She stated that at least 2 times, the car restarts with the shifter still in D. On one occasion, she could not get the car to restart for several minutes. Nissan, of course, says they haven't gotten any complaints and no error codes. My wife also states the info center and radio always fail right before the vehicle starts stalling. I going to have to have the car towed to Nissan due to us living over a hour from the dealership and the car not being safe to drive.

On 6/9/24 I was traveling South on Interstate 77. I had intelligent cruise control set. I heard a little chime noise go off and looked at my dash to see what it could be. I noticed the intelligent cruise control was turned off. So I gave my car gas to get it back up to speed. The engine just reved and that is when I noticed that my car was in neutral. This was not operator error. I had both of my hands on the steering wheel and nothing hit the shifter to put it in Neutral. I have an appointment with Nissan on Monday 6/17. Back in Feb 2023 this same car put itself in neutral at a stop light. I could not get it to go into drive. I shut it off and turned it back on and it was able to go into drive. I took it to the Nissan dealer on 2/14/23. They said it gave a code that they never saw and would look into it. They did nothing to the car at this time. They never got back to me and I never inquired about it because it never went into neutral again by itself until 6/9/14 while driving down a busy interstate. This time I was very scared and felt like this was a dangerous situation and a safety concern.

The driver's seat belt chime randomly goes off even when the seat belt is buckled. This has happened more than 15 times already. Every time I take it to the car dealer, they inspect it and cannot find what is wrong with it because it is not happening at the moment of my arrival. Today it started to chime at me again, and I decided to bring the car to the dealer without turning it off so that the code, if any, would be available. They checked it again and drove it around, but it did not go off, so there was nothing they could do to fix the problem. However, the problem is still happening, and I have shown them videos I captured with my cell phone when it happens to prove that it is not just me saying so. I don't know what else to do to get this fixed because they tell me that if there is no code or part broken they cannot replace it.

ODI #11591149ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Issue is related to insufficient starting and propulsion of the vehicle after the idle stop feature has stopped the engine. After the idle stop feature turns off the engine [upon stopping of the vehicle], the engine does not start quickly and efficiently. You take your foot off the brake, the vehicle begins to start, then you push on the gas, the engine/vehicle then hesitates and stutters, and then the engine finally fully engages and moves the vehicle. Engine doesn't seem to be getting sufficient fuel. NOTE: THE MOST CONCERNING ISSUE is that upon pushing on the gas after idle stop, the vehicle has automatically slipped into Neutral [two recent incidents], basically stalling the vehicle in traffic (until the RPMs reduced and it could be put back in Drive). This is a safety concern if I am beginning to take a left-hand turn or pulling out into oncoming traffic. I have to now turn off the idle stop feature each trip to avoid this safety concern (unless I forget). I will be bringing vehicle into the dealer for service soon - but I am not confident this is going to effectively diagnosed or resolved.

This is a new car with 30,000 miles on it. There are two issues, the brakes apparently do not distribute the braking workload evenly or the parts were counterfeit from manufacture. The rear brakes had to be replaced, pads and rotors resurfaced. The front brakes were unaffected and good. Back brakes should not need replacing before front brakes, yet the rotors were scarred with grooves. I have a photo of one of the rotors. Additionally, the (Auto-start & stop) at a halt does not kick in quickly enough to avoid a collision when moving and merging into traffic from a standstill.

When we purchased this vehicle in June 2023, one of the first things I noticed, was an unusual switch on the steering wheel to allow, selecting and viewing all of the vehicle display information. This switch is located on the left side of the steering wheel. It is labeled OK meaning OK to display the selected menu item when you depress the OK button. The switch consists of a thumb wheel to go up or down on the menu selection, and then you depress the thumb wheel to engage the item selected. We’ve had the vehicle nine months and we were driving and my wife attempted to select something by rotating the thumb wheel and pushing OK button. The OK button got stuck in the down position disabling the ok button and preventing her from changing anything on the vehicle info screen. We consider being unable to access vehicle information a safety issue. The switch was promptly replaced by Nissan under warranty. I am an electronics person and I consider this particular style switch too delicate for long term use, a bad design and one that will probably continue to fail. The issue with this switch is the “thumb wheel selector” for menu items instead of an up or down button like on our other three vehicles that do the same functions on those vehicles. Nissan made a very bad choice on using this type of switch.

This is a serious safety concern because if the system does malfunction can lead to a collision when driving and/or parking if the light is blinking. When I took it to the dealer they were quick to dismiss the issue saying it can be caused by an obstruction to the windshield camera by dirt, frost, ice, etc. They cleared the codes (C2582-97, C2506-49 and C1F05-49) and sent me on my way. I would like to submit a safety concern for a new vehicle that I purchased in April. The Nissan Pathfinder Platinum edition is indeed a very nice vehicle, but there are two issues that need to be addressed immediately. The first is that the windshield washer probe is located one- and one-half inches inside the hood near the windshield. This translates into a low stream of washer fluid that hits the 40-inch-tall windshield at the seven-inch mark from the bottom of it. This means that the wiper blades cannot and do not “catch and move the washer fluid” up to clean the entire windshield. I drove in a snowstorm recently, this proved to be extremely problematic for me and I had poor visibility looking out of the windshield.

The second issue that I have with my 2023 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum edition involves the ten-speed transmission, which desperately needs a software update. I pulled out at an intersection and gave the Pathfinder some gas. I did not come to a complete stop prior. Nothing happened because the transmission was busy searching for a gear. Thankfully no driver came up on me from behind, but if they had I would have been in trouble. I did not know what was going on, so I gave it a lot of gas, which forced the transmission into a gear and allowed me to move forward rapidly. When coming to a stop and giving it gas, the transmission always has difficulty quickly finding and selecting a gear.

When the start/stop auto function is engaged (idling stop system), about 1 out of 10 times it kicks the transmission into neutral when the break is released and the driver attempts to start driving again. The driver then has to put the transmission back into drive. The safety concern is that I am stuck in neutral with moving traffic. On rare occasion, I cannot put the vehicle back into drive without shutting the whole vehicle off and restarting it. This was reported to my local Nissan dealer who was unable to resolve and stated it had not been reported as an issue, although if you check the internet, there are plenty of reports of this issue. No safety alerts or warning lamps are triggered with this happens.

ODI #11545281UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Stop & start fuel saving system, which automatically engages while waiting in the traffic, is malfunctioning. In the best case scenario car switches the gear to Neutral when releasing the break pedal to auto-start the engine. Another variation is shutting down the engine when attempting to drive off from the traffic lights or intersection after even a short stop. In a occurrence of this issue engine must be manually started like if it was parked. Last scenario, which happens to be the most dangerous, combines both previously mentioned behaviors and the fact that before the engine stops or gear switches to Neutral, car may roll into the intersection and stop there, potentially leaving the car in a crash course with other cars. The last scenario is especially critical on left turns with no traffic lights. If driven by less skillful drivers this leads to some very nasty situations on the road. Nissan doesn't offer a menu option to permanently disengage start & stop system. One has to always remember to turn this function off after each car-start. Finally, turning stop & start system off results in significantly higher fuel consumption.

After several attempts, the car restarted and I could drive again. The car drive was sluggish at first but it made it the rest of the way just fine and later my return trip back home. The engine light is now illuminated indicating a fault/issue. The car is connected to an app on my phone and is recommended that I bring it in for service which I did to the Nissan dealership where I leased the vehicle from this morning. No determination has been made as of yet but based on my research of similar incidents online, it looks likely to be an issue involving the fuel pump. Dear NHTSA, I would like to report a safety issue while driving this vehicle on Interstate 35E North of downtown St Paul, MN. While driving in traffic I went to move into a lane to the right allowing us to move in a less congested lane of traffic. During the move I pushed the pedal to full and the engine just shut off/cut out and stalled while in the middle of moving lanes in fast moving traffic. The vehicle jerked and slowed then the engine can back to life (fired back up) and my wife was screaming at this point that we were going to get us killed with traffic behind us moving at 60 plus mph. First my wife blamed me for this issue and I explained the vehicle just shut off under load and I was doing nothing wrong. This issue needs further attention or intervention from a higher authority than a dealer. Also, the emergency braking does not work on this vehicle going forward or backwards with all systems turned on. It has been at the deal for 7 days as of today Sept 12, 2023. It is very difficult and sometimes impossible to shift it to the Neutral position even with your foot on the brakes. Sometimes you have to attempt it three or four times after it being in the drive position. You can move it forward strongly and softly it does not matter...this needs to be adjusted/corrected as sometimes we have to put it into neutral position and it will not work. I am reporting a serious safety issue with my new 2023 Nissan Pathfinder SL 4WD purchased in February 2023 from the Nissan dealership. I was happy with the vehicle, and it ran fine until June 2023. The issue first began in 2023, when I had the vehicle in economy mode and was driving with family. The car was stopped in Drive with my foot on the break when the car went from Drive to Neutral by itself. When this happened, I was entering from a parking lot onto a busy road. I almost got hit by oncoming traffic, as the front of the car was in the road while merging onto the roadway. I had both hands on the wheel when this happened. Passengers in the car were shocked and I was apprehensive about driving it on the highway home. No warning lights appeared on the vehicle. I brought the vehicle to the dealership, and they said there were problems in recent years, which I was unaware of, with the Pathfinder when the vehicle was redesigned. They said they had a patch to correct the issue I reported. The patch did not correct the issue and the problem got worse. Examples include, one day when the car was stopped at traffic lights, it went from Drive to Neutral four separate times. Three of those times the car stalled as well. Each time it happened I was stopped in traffic with my foot on the break in economy mode. It is alarming when you are looking at the dashboard and you can see it go from Drive to Neutral while both hands are on the wheel. The dealer was able to duplicate the problem and the Pathfinder has remained at the dealership since July 25, 2023 - more than four weeks from the date of this report. I am still waiting for a resolution. This is a very significant defect in the vehicle, and it is scary and dangerous. I have significant concerns that this defect, which could result in the loss of life or at a minimum serious harm.

I write to report the issues which are a safety hazard to me & whom ever operates it or I transport in it, Which creates a higher concern for my & their safety . I purchased a 2023 Nissan Pathfinder SL on July 6, 2023 an eight seater model 4WD with 8 miles on the speedometer manufactured by Nissan as per label on door April 2023.The problem I have experienced recently after a month & two weeks now. The vehicle starts are normal but once the vehicle is on the road and is within normal operation temperature. I noticed that I must start applying brakes earlier than usual on where the same roads which I have driven other vehicles in order to stop did not have to do this. Is like if I don't do so & ignore not applying the brakes earlier now I must use greater than before foot pedal pressure that when is stop the vehicle jerks forward like it wants to continue on. Also there is a lost of gas pedal power when trying to enter the highway flow traffic, That since I was almost rear-ended twice already is kind of depressing creepy feeling that now I wait longer or seat at a lane in order to safely enter the flow of traffic or passing. In fear that the lost of power of this vehicle if I try to pass or enter will stall out and put others in danger if it does happen. There is also hesitation, jerking form engine & transmission at high & lower speeds. That requires more attention on the early braking problem I have described above. It seems the pilot assist & stop/start when off are still operating in the background. I have returned to the dealer service center that when he inform that I am not the only one affected. Nissan engineers working on it. The dealer allowed me a temp rental replacement vehicle for now but for how long?

Just bought 2023 Pathfinder Platinum edition and drove it once. First time driving on the highway at 70 mph on cruise control, the engine stopped and a message came across the dash saying " Your engine has stalled. Please pull over to a safe area". This caused me to put my family's safety in jeopardy because we had to wait for 3 hrs for a tow in 100 plus degree heat in the desert with nothing to keep us cool except warm water. After getting it towed back to the dealer I bought it from ( Hi-Valley Nissan in Victorville, CA), the service department told me that the fuel pump went bad. Looking online, it's becoming more frequent with Pathfinders as of late and was told the same thing by some of the people at the dealer. It has been in the shop for diagnostics and awaiting parts for coming on 30 days. It is almost going to be a CA Lemon law issue. Now it is waiting on a gasket which more than one person at the dealer said that they might have to take from another vehicle to get the vehicle done. To me, bought a BRAND NEW 2023 NISSAN PATHFINDER PLATINUM; not a 2023 NISSAN PATHFINDER PLATINUM WITH USED PARTS. As far as I know, gaskets shouldn't be reused if at all possible. Nissan needs to get this problem fixed and fast.

I just bought my pathfinder and it has under 600 miles. As I drive the vehicle, it will automatically switch over to neutral right in the middle of the highway and has almost caused accidents and a loss of my life. I have done research on the internet and discovered that over a dozen 2023 Nissan Pathfinder owners experience the same issue and Nissan has refused to resolve the issue. I called Nissan America and they opened up a case which is Case#494-216-94 and they refused to provide me with a way forward. The vehicle has been with the Passport Nissan Dealership at 500 Auth Way, Suitland MD, 20746 Maryland for over a month now and whenever I try to obtain a status they get upset and continue to tell me that the vehicle has warranty and that I should purchase more warranty. I went to the Passport Nissan Dealership again this morning 8/9/2023 and asked to speak with the manager for more information. The manager told me that I am wasting his time. My vehicle is still with the dealer and Nissan American does not have any solution. At this juncture, this vehicle us unsafe and unfit for the road. NHTSA needs to act immediately before this becomes catastrophic and fatal.

My pathfinder alarm goes off several times an hour. It locks door then starts itself randomly throughout the day. there’s a security feature that car will not lock if the key is in the vehicle it still locks. Starts.

Vehicle has auto stop/start. When at a red light and vehicle stops moving engine will shut off. When light goes green and foot is removed from break, vehicle starts up. Sometimes when starting back up it goes into neutral automatically. Other times the vehicle attempts to start. But shifts into neutral and shuts down completely. At this point you must manually restart the engine. This has created safety concerns for my family

ODI #11535260VISIBILITY/WIPER

I just bought my Nissan Pathfinder SL about a month ago. On the first day while I was driving it home I noticed a shaky driver's side mirror. It has been persistent since then on highways, in a windy day, or most frequently when there are surface imperfections on the road. The mirror shakes so much that I cannot see clearly the image which in my belief is a safety hazard. I understand there should be a specification that each vehicle needs to meet, but to me this does not appear to be a normal characteristic of a car. As a matter of fact, the passenger's side mirror does not vibrate at all, regardless the speed, wind, or road imperfections. My other vehicles also do not behave like this. I took the vehicle in at my local dealership (Garber Nissan in Saginaw). After an hour's inspection, they said it was a normal characteristic of the vehicle, which is not acceptable to me. I am in a Facebook owner group in which many Pathfinder owners have experienced the same issue with their side mirror(s). I really hope Nissan can fix this issue for us soon. It is beyond disappointing.

While driving, the "AT" warning light came on, the vehicle was making a griding noise. Upon stopping for safety reasons, the vehicle would not engage into 'Park." Once turned off and back on, the vehicle would not engage into drive from park, then finally went into drive. In the next few minutes driving to work to get off the main road and to wait for AAA, the "AT" warning light was on again and the car was griniding gears and accelerating randomly. After arriving at my work, the vehicle would not engage into park again, had to shut it opff and turn it back on which then showed it in park. Was towed to the dealer who stated the shifter was malfunctioning and they replaced the shifter and cleared all codes. Peter's Nissan of Nashua stated that the vehicle tested fine now and was fine to drive.

Brand new 2023 pathfinder shuts off while driving. Car will turn off completely on the highway, while getting close to a light or trying to park. Once car is restarted it turns on again fine. One time the car did go crazy on the panel and it was fuzzy. The dealer has checked the car 3 times and keeps saying there’s no issue.

Water spilled onto console because cup the Lid was not sealed properly. The shifter became inoperable. The components around the cup hold need to be protected from water damage. As this is a safety issue. ESPECIALLY if it causes the car to not shift into gear? What if the spill happened at a stop light/intersection/railroad crossing for goodness sakes. And you can't freaking MOVE the car. (See my previous pictured post from another person). This smells of lawsuit in the "just right but HORRIFIC circumstances"

The airbag is rattling and clicking. Safety issue. Took to local Nissan dealership. They advise me the appointment they had an available was a month out. Issue raises serious concern for safety and possible airbag deployment.

Chart Analysis

The blue line shows 94 total NHTSA complaints filed over 5 years, with the worst year being 2023 (29 complaints, including 1 crash report).

The amber reliability line is declining — recent years score around 18/100, lower than earlier in the vehicle's life. This pattern indicates issues are accumulating over time rather than being resolved, which is a concern for used buyers.

Notably, despite 94 complaints on file, no recall has been issued — either the defect pattern has not met NHTSA's threshold for a formal campaign, or a recall may be forthcoming.

Red dots on the amber line flag 3 years (2023, 2024, 2025) where complaints included crash events — these are the highest-severity incidents in the dataset.
