48/100
Warning Deferred Risk
The safety systems system is the most-reported problem for the 2010 HONDA Ridgeline — 19 NHTSA complaints (45% of all filings). Prioritize it in a pre-purchase inspection.
⚠No odometer data on record. Items marked VERIFY below are age-based maintenance reminders — general guidance, not confirmed findings for this specific vehicle. Confirm actual mileage and service history with the seller.
CASCADECriticalFailure Cascade
Cascade already triggered — downstream damage likely in progress
Have a specialist inspect all systems connected to the failed component before purchase
One failed component has created stress on connected systems. Repair costs compound quickly — a $500 fix can become $3,000+ if cascade damage is ignored.

VERIFYCriticalTiming Belt
Typical interval: 90,000 mi / 7 yr · Verify service records (no odometer on file)
Verify timing belt service history with the seller
✓ Timing type per published engine specification
A snapped timing belt causes immediate, catastrophic engine damage — bent valves, destroyed pistons. No warning. Replace before the interval, not after.
VERIFYCriticalWater Pump
Typical interval: 100,000 mi / 8 yr · Verify service records (no odometer on file)
Verify water pump service history with the seller
Water pump failure causes rapid overheating. If the engine overheats even once, head gasket damage is likely — turning a $400 part into a $3,000+ repair.
VERIFYHighTransmission Fluid / Service
Typical interval: 60,000 mi / 5 yr · Verify service records (no odometer on file)
Verify transmission fluid / service service history with the seller
Degraded transmission fluid destroys clutch packs and solenoids. CVT transmissions are especially sensitive — neglected fluid can result in a $4,000–$8,000 replacement.
VERIFYHighCoolant Flush
Manufacturer interval: 120,000 mi / 10 yr · Verify service records (no odometer on file)
Verify coolant flush service history with the seller
✓ per Honda owner's manual maintenance schedule
Degraded coolant loses corrosion inhibitors and attacks aluminum engine components. Can cause head gasket failure and water pump corrosion.
VERIFYModerateSpark Plugs (iridium/platinum)
Typical interval: 100,000 mi / 8 yr · Verify service records (no odometer on file)
Verify spark plugs (iridium/platinum) service history with the seller
Worn spark plugs cause misfires that can foul and crack catalytic converters. A $150 tune-up can prevent a $1,200 catalytic converter replacement.
VERIFYModerateFuel Injectors
Typical interval: 120,000 mi / 10 yr · Verify service records (no odometer on file)
Verify fuel injectors service history with the seller
Dirty or failing injectors cause rough idle, reduced fuel economy, and increased emissions. Cleaning costs $100–$200; replacement $800–$1,600.

The contact owns a 2010 Honda Ridgeline. The contact stated water was entering the cabin of the vehicle causing the windows to become foggy. The contact stated that the failure happened every time it rained. The contact said there was a strong mildew odor inside the vehicle. Additionally, the headliner separated inside the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with a crack on the roof of the vehicle on the driver’s side. The contact was notified by the dealer that the vehicle needed to be spot welded to repair the crack. The manufacturer was contacted by the dealer and made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer told the contact that the manufacturer did not spot weld the section of the roof since it could impact the integrity of the sub-frame. The failure mileage was approximately 74,570.

ODI #11452956VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,SERVICE BRAKESCRASH

On Friday 2/18/2022 I was pulling into a parking space with my 2010 Honda Ridgeline. When applying the brake, the vehicle suddenly accelerated unintentionally and hit the car in the opposing parking space. I stood on the brake harder when I sensed the vehicle lurching forward. After I struck the opposing car, I confirmed that my foot was on the brake and not touching the accelerator. Also, oddly the vehicle immediately stopped running and I noticed the car was in Reverse. I took pictures and video immediately after the incident both inside the car and outside before I touched anything. I then put the car in Park, started the car, and backed it up. I inspected both cars for damage and did not find any damage. I left a note for the other car. The owner later called and confirmed she did not find any damage. One interesting thing that I noticed is that the parking space had a sewer drain in the front left corner that had a large slope and snow/ice surrounding it. The unintended acceleration occurred right when the front left tire hit that sloping ice patch.

FOR THE PAST THREE WEEKS, AND ONLY WHEN IT RAINS, I HAVE NOTICED, WHILE SEATED IN MY VEHICLE (DIVERS SIDE FRONT SEAT) THAT WATER IS ENTERING MY VEHICLE FROM AN UNKNOWN LOCATION AND POOLING ALONG THE ROOF HEADLINER AND A PILLAR PLASTIC COVER. WHEN I TRY TO REPLICATE THE LEAK BY POURING WATER IN VARIOUS LOCATIONS NO WATER ENTERS. WHEN IT RAINS, I SEE THE ROOF HEADLINER NEAREST THE A PILLAR IS SOAKED. WHEN I PARTIALLY REMOVED THE WEATHER STRIPPING FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AND PARTIALLY REMOVED THE HEADLINE,R I COULD FEEL THAT THE ROOF LINER IN THE AREA WAS STILL WET AS WAS A PORTION OF THE SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAG. I CALLED MY LOCAL HONDA DEALER (VALLEY HONDA MONROEVILLE PA SERVICE DEPT.) ON 01/18/17 AND WAS TOLD "WE CAN'T HELP YOU. CALL A BODY SHOP." I AM CONCERNED THAT THE WATER ENTERING THE VEHICLE WILL DAMAGE OR AFFECT THE SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAG. TAKATA RECALL: I RECEIVED THE FIRST LETTER OF RECALL FROM AMERICAN HONDA ON MAR 29, 2016 FOLLOWED BY ANOTHER LETTER ON JULY 19, 2016. ENOUGH TO MENTION THAT I HAVE HARDLY DRIVEN MY TRUCK SINCE APR 1, 2016! THESE TWO LETTERS WERE FOLLOWED BY SEVERAL CALLS BY THE AMERICAN HONDA ON JUNE 30, JULY 07, JULY 18, JULY 29, & AUG 17; 2016 INFORMING ME THAT MY NEAREST HONDA DEALER WOULD CALL ME TO OFFER A RENTAL VEHICLE BEFORE BOTH -- DRIVER'S SIDE & PASSENGER SIDE -- AIRBAG INFLATORS ARE REPLACED. EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THAT THEY REPLACED MY DRIVER'S SIDE INFLATOR ON JULY 20, 2016, NOTHING HAS BEEN OFFERED TO ME SO FAR. IT WAS THE ONLY VEHICLE THAT I HAD UNTIL JULY 6TH, 2016 -- AFTER WHICH I HAD TO BUY A SMALL CAR ON MY OWN AS A REMEDY BECAUSE I DIDN'T WANT TO TAKE THE RISK -- EXPLAINED TO ME BY THE AMERICAN HONDA ON THE ABOVE-LISTED DATES. THE QUESTION IS: IS IT WHAT THEY CALL 'THE TRICK OF THE TRADE' TO ABUSE THE CUSTOMERS IN THE NAME OF FULFILLING THEIR OBLIGATIONS? THE ONLY FAVOR THEY DID TO ME WAS THAT A GUY -- NAMELY, DONALD IN THE HONDA OF SPRING -- APOLOGIZED TO ME FOR NOT OFFERING ANY VEHICLE ON JULY 19, 2016. THAT'S ALL WHAT I HAVE HEARD FROM THEM. THIS IS WHILE I GENERALLY GO THERE EVERY MONTH FOR THE ELEMENTARY CHECKUPS SUCH AS OIL, AIR PRESSURE, ETC.. AND THEY KNOW ME QUITE WELL... SHAME ON THE CUSTODIANS OF THE RULE OF LAW!!!

MY VEHICLE IS NOW ONLY GIVING ME ABOUT 10/11 MILES PER GALLON WHEN IT USED TO AVERAGE ABOUT 18/19--THE STEERING WHEEL CAME BACK ALL FULL OF SCRATCHES AND WITH TWO EXTRA SCREWS/NUTS BY DOOR FOR WHICH THERE IS NO EXPLANATION AS TO WHY-I AM NOW CONCERNED THAT THE FIRST RECALL REPAIRS WERE MAYBE NOT DONE PROPERLY--NOT SURE WHAT OTHER OPTIONS I HAVE AS A CONSUMER-AND HOW LONG I HAVE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE UNTIL PARTS BECOME AVAILABLE.

The blue line shows 42 total NHTSA complaints filed over 13 years, with the worst year being 2016 (17 complaints).

The amber reliability line averaged 97/100 across the vehicle's life — relatively stable, with the lowest point of 90/100 in 2022.

The red dashed lines mark recall issuance — the first recall came 6 years after owners began filing complaints, a lag that indicates the manufacturer was slow to formally acknowledge these problems.

Red dots on the amber line flag 3 years (2012, 2015, 2022) where complaints included crash events — these are the highest-severity incidents in the dataset.
