My 2022 Honda Odyssey experienced a sudden catastrophic engine failure at approximately 154,000 miles while driving under normal conditions. The failure involved the vehicle’s engine and resulted in a loud knocking noise followed by loss of engine power and the vehicle becoming inoperable. The Honda dealership diagnosed the engine as having internal engine failure with metal contamination present in the oil, indicating severe internal engine damage. Based on the symptoms and the diagnosis, the failure appears consistent with possible connecting rod or connecting rod bearing failure. The failed engine remains installed in the vehicle and should be available for inspection upon request. Prior to the failure there were no warning lights or messages, and the oil pressure warning light never illuminated. The vehicle had proper oil levels and no indication of low oil pressure before the failure occurred. A sudden internal engine failure that causes loss of engine power while driving presents a safety concern because it can occur without warning and may leave the driver unable to maintain speed or safely maneuver in traffic, particularly at highway speeds. The problem has been confirmed by a Honda dealership, which documented the condition as internal engine failure with metal contamination in the oil and advised that the engine must be replaced. The estimated repair cost exceeds 6,000. The manufacturer has been notified of the failure through a customer assistance case, but the vehicle has not been physically inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. This complaint is being submitted to document the sudden internal engine failure and possible connecting rod bearing failure in case similar failures are occurring in other vehicles equipped with the same engine design.

No overpasses were nearby, nor were any projectiles witnessed. Thankfully, the interior sunroof shade was completely closed, preventing the thousands of pieces of broken glass from falling into the vehicle. Thankfully, we were also able to avoid an accident in the moment. Talked to local dealership and Honda Americas. Both simply said I was out of warranty, even though this is a massive safety failure. The idle start stop feature constantly doesn’t work on our 2022 Honda Odyssey Touring. When stopped at a light or stop sign the engine will turn off COMPLETELY, causing me to have to put the car in park and restart the car. Also, sometimes the van will start, sometimes it won't. I replaced the battery and now it starts but it is still turning itself off in traffic. There have been several incidents where this is during rush hour traffic causing traffic jams and we have been very close to being rear ended. Sometimes I have to wait a few minutes before it will actually turn over. This is EXTREMELY unsafe and should be addressed by Honda with a FREE fix for all owners. The liftgate on my vehicle stopped functioning in March 2024, one month after the warranty expired. On June 24, 2025, the vehicle underwent a power tailgate unit replacement and water leak repair at Ocean Honda of Brockton. Water had leaked into the tailgate unit and caused it to short out. The total cost for this repair was $1,776.18. I have attached a copy of the paid service repair summary and proof of payment. My primary concern, beyond the financial burden, is the inherent safety risk posed by this malfunction. As a parent of three children, we specifically chose the Honda Odyssey for its reputation for safety and reliability as a family vehicle. A power tailgate unit that can fail due to water infiltration presents a serious hazard, as it could cause the tailgate to unexpectedly open while the vehicle is in motion. This could lead to items falling out onto the road, creating a dangerous road hazard for other drivers, or potentially compromising the safety of passengers if the vehicle is involved in an accident. Right before the tailgate stopped working, we noticed a "low battery" warning upon starting the van. This is probably due to the electrical short. I sent a letter to American Honda Motor Company on July 2, 2025, detailing the issue, but have yet to hear a response.

On October 31, 2025, I brought my vehicle to the dealer for several issues, including an Auto Engine Idle Stop System problem, a memory seat malfunction, and other concerns that were discussed with the service advisor and are listed in the invoice. I was charged almost $1,000, including a new battery. Initially, some of the problems appeared to be resolved, but shortly after the service, the Auto Engine Idle Stop System problem reappeared, and the memory seat stopped working again. Even more concerning, a new and dangerous issue began immediately after the repair: while driving at night, the headlights suddenly turn off for a few seconds and then turn back on, and the “Auto Engine Idle Stop System Problem” warning appears at the same time. This issue never occurred before the dealer performed the repair. This situation is extremely unsafe, especially when driving in dark conditions with my family. I contacted the dealership through their “Contact Us” form on November 2, 2025, and again via live chat on November 5, 2025. I was told that someone would reach out to me, but as of November 9, 2025, I have received no response.

The Honda High Pressure Fuel Pump Recall is an ongoing and critical safety campaign impacting numerous Honda and Acura models primarily from the 2017-2022 model years. The defective fuel pump component can fail unexpectedly, causing sudden loss of engine power while driving, significantly increasing the risk of a crash or fire. I am the manager and co-owner in an automotive mechanic workshop in Miami, and in the last year several Honda Odyssey have arrived at my workshop with this problem with the high-pressure fuel pump. All of these cars were manufactured in 2022 and 2023. Symptoms begin after accumulating more than 80,000 miles traveled. The main symptoms are: Problems and delay when starting, loss of power, vibration, noise and tapping of the fuel lines at the inlet of the engine. This vibration and noise are felt much louder from inside the cabin, because the fuel lines are attached to the fire wall of the engine compartment. High fuel consumption, reducing the autonomy of the vehicle up to about 12 to 14 miles per gallon, when the Odyssey has a proven autonomy between 19 and 21 miles per gallon under normal conditions. Strong smell of fuel. The vibration increases by increasing the revolutions per minute of the engine, causing the connections of the fuel lines to suffer deterioration, cracking and loss of pressure, causing fuel leaks that could be the main cause of fire of the engine and the vehicle, in turn putting the life of the driver and his occupants at risk. For a few weeks I wanted to submit this request for extension of Recall to Honda for the Odyssey models of the years 2022 and 2023 through the NHTSA. But it was not until today that I decided to do it because I also own a 2022 Honda Odyssey EX-L with more than 90,000 accumulated miles, just 2 weeks ago my vehicle began to present all these symptoms mentioned above.

Honda has issued a Service Bulletin (SERVICE BULLETIN 22-018 [XXX] ) for the issue stating that "After powering open, the tailgate either slowly sags down or the power tailgate control unit sounds a warning tone before powering the tailgate closed" This is a danger as the liftgate closes aggressively and anyone standing under it can be hit in the head and severely injured. The force required to reverse the closure is significant and requires active attention. If one had opened the liftgate and started removing items from the trunk, as has happened to both my wife and myself, the liftgate can hit very hard. If a child is there the risk is significant. Vehicle Make/Model/Year: 2022 Honda Odyssey Date of Incident: 5-1-25 Mileage at Incident: 30,000 Summary of Incident: While my 2022 Honda Odyssey was fully stopped in traffic with my foot firmly on the brake pedal, the vehicle unexpectedly lurched forward and struck the car in front of me. Just before or during the lurch, the brake system warning light appeared on the dashboard. I did not have my foot on the accelerator at any time. The road was flat and weather conditions were normal. The Idle Stop system has not been functioning for several months, so the vehicle was operating in normal engine-on mode. Despite this, the car surged forward from a full stop, indicating a possible failure in the brake system, electronic throttle control, or a software/ECU malfunction. This was a dangerous, uncommanded movement of the vehicle while stopped, which resulted in a minor collision. Thankfully, no one was injured, but this poses a serious safety hazard, especially if it were to occur in crosswalks or at intersections. I will report the issue to Honda the dealership and requested a full diagnostic inspection. During these outages the display is completely unavailable and presents a hazard since the rear camera is unavailable. Since the display reboots and only happens intermittently the dealer was unable to reproduce the error and believes the vehicle is "operating to Honda specifications." I am writing to file a safety complaint about the 2022 Honda Odyssey Elite concerning critical infotainment and electrical system failures that present significant safety risks. These failures include power cycling, freezing, and complete system shutdowns, which impair essential vehicle functions like navigation, climate control, and communication. The random nature of the failures makes it difficult for technicians to replicate the problem, but it occurs intermittently while driving. Normally, the infotainment system just fails, requiring the car to be parked and power cycled, including opening and closing a door. On one occasion, the vehicle catastrophically failed during operation and would not restart. The car had to be towed to the dealer, but when it arrived, it was able to start without any jump-start. The dealer stated they could not replicate the issue so there was nothing that would be done beyond replacing the battery.

The Anti-Theft System on the car randomly looses power. This causes the car's power to cut out when you are slowing down and apply the brakes to stop. Once the power cuts, you have to wait about 30 seconds before the ignition Start button illuminates again to restart the car. Once you restart the car the screen on the center dash (stereo/navigation screen) states the Anti-Theft System lost power and you must push the power button in on the stereo for a few seconds to reset it. When it occurs while at a stop sign, traffic signal or during stop and go traffic, other drivers have to wait for you to reset the car so you can proceed and get out of the way. When it occurs during parking, you get out of the car and when you attempt to lock the car it will not since the system lost power. You have to get back in the car, restart it, reset the Anti-Theft system, stop the car and then get out to lock it. With this issue, the system loosing power while in the flow of traffic is a safety hazard. This issue did not start to occur until after my Honda was serviced and had its system updated for the Auto Start safety recall.

Immediately after picking up my vehicle following the replacement of the front bumper, I noticed the keyless entry system started to malfunction. When I touched the driver’s door handle, it didn’t respond as it should. Instead, I had to use the rear left passenger door handle to unlock the driver’s door. Additionally, the vehicle used to emit a warning buzz if any doors were not properly closed. However, after the repair, this warning sound no longer functions. When the doors are properly closed, the vehicle typically beeps twice in quick succession, but these beeps are sometimes too faint to hear due to background noise. Three days ago, I returned home after dark and unknowingly left my vehicle unlocked in the driveway because I didn’t hear the usual warning sound. That night, a burglar entered the vehicle, ransacked it in search of cash or valuables, and stole my $100 jumpstarter/tire inflator. Alarmingly, my garage door opener was on the sun visor, which could have led to a much worse situation. This malfunction has caused serious concerns, as the lack of clear audible warnings creates opportunities for oversights and security risks. It also "gently" brakes at times when the lane markings on one side or the other are faint or missing, we think the system sees this as a lane departure. The most recent sharp sudden braking almost caused us to be rear-ended. Along with this there are various issues with proximity sensors around the vehicle. We believe all of these issues are related.

Was issued a safety recall, called local Honda dealership, spoke to Tony on 9/7/23 would not see us for several months. Said service would not be available until April 2024. The safety issue could cause a crash according to the recall notice, but the dealership and person I spoke to at Honda manufacturer main number said we would be fine and they can’t force the dealer to get us in sooner. We got an earlier appointment for 7 Feb 2024. This is a leased vehicle and I feel our rights are being violated. They are not trying to fix it in a timely manner. This is a Braun adapted wheelchair vehicle. It has a lowered floor with a protective under floor. When making a slow turn into a parking lot, a curb was brushed. The passenger side airbag deployed. There was no damage except for cosmetic scratch on outside. There were no injuries. The police attended and couldn't see why the bag deployed. It was examined by Honda mechanic who claimed there was structural damage. The Braun mechanic contested this, finding no structural damage just a superficial scrape to the lowered floor plate. Both the doors and the ramp work properly. The ramp would not work properly if the frame was bent but it works fine. There were no warning signs. Our safety is compromised by driving the van without side airbags. There are a number of complaints on Honda forums about others who have had the bags deploy in slow moving impacts with curbs, speed bumps and potholes. This seems to be a problem in these vans.

Intermittently, my 2022 Honda Odyssey with less than 16,000 miles will “stall” after the idle stop/start system is enacted. The first time it happened, I was waiting to turn left out of a parking lot onto a busy road. The idle stop kicked in, and when I went to go, my car lurched about 5 feet and the engine cut out completely requiring me to turn off the car with the push button start, restart the car, and put the car into drive. Luckily, people going both directions on the crossroad were able to go around me. This has happened probably 10 times before I was able to get it into the car dealership for service. It has no rhyme or reason for when it happens. The car dealership replaced the battery and said that it should fix the issue. When I went to leave the dealership after the “fix” the car again “stalled” as I was leaving the driveway of the dealership. I turned right back around, and returned the car to be serviced. Now, when talking to the service department at the dealership, I am being told that because “there is no code, and they cannot reproduce the issue, there is no fix.” I am not willing to drive an unsafe car, and additionally, the idle stop/start was one of the reasons this van gets good gas milage. So, I should not have to turn off that feature every time I get in the vehicle. My vehicle is currently sitting at the dealership because I have no other recourse to get it fixed. Driver's side outdoor mirror is defective - a) On irregular payment ("not smooth") at any speed, this mirror vibrates and loses its vertical and horizontal position. Needs constant re-adjustment with power controls while driving or after vehicle is parked. Or both. b) At freeway speeds 45mph+ on smooth roads, it vibrates excessively and rapidly loses its viewing angle. c) At night on the freeway, mirror is unusable because of severe vibration with headlights in view. According to local Honda dealer's service department (Honda of Thousand Oaks, CA) this is a "known problem" and no repair or replacement is available since even replacement mirrors distributed by Honda have the same problem. Also, going back at least 2-3 years, all Honda vehicles with 6-cylinder engines have the same issue - Odysseys, Passports, Pilots, Ridgelines, etc. Only the driver side mirror - the outside passenger mirror does not have these issues. I contacted American Honda Corporate at the CEO level (see attached docs) and they eventually referred me to their Customer Car representative, "Jocelyn" - she informed me that Honda Engineering has no knowledge of this issue and therefore there's no service bulletin or "fix" under consideration. She said my only course of action is to have my local Honda dealer resolve the issue. Per the enclosed doc, I am in contact with the Service Manager at Honda Thousand Oaks, Mr. Max Picado, to arrange a visit so I can document their official response.

Problem: While driving on the interstate (in a construction zone with no shoulders), and with no prior indications the van gave numerous alerts to include blind spot monitoring and transmission service. The gear indicator on the dash (“D”) began flashing. I had zero throttle response and began coasting. I was able to gain some forward response by cycling between sport mode and drive while fluttered the gas pedal to match when the gear indicator would flash. If I miss timed it, the engine would rev as if it was in neutral. Using this method, I was only able to maintain 40 MPH. Luckily the next available exit had a Honda dealership and I was able to limp the van into the service department. Safety concern: Without the quick troubleshooting to at least maintain speed for a viable exit/shoulder, the van would of stopped on a very busy interstate that has average speeds of 75+ MPH. It would have surely caused an accident that could of led to serious injuries or death. Diagnosis: Numerous service techs came out to look at the van since I pulled in with my hazards on. At least 2 stated they had seen the problem previously on 2022+ Odyssey’s and to expect it to need a full transmission replacement. Service advisor is suppose to call on Monday with more details and I will update here accordingly. Other information: 13.5k miles on the vehicle and no major mechanical issues prior to this event. As I did this I noticed that a white smoke had begun to enter the car through the AC diffusers. When I first purchased my ‘22 Honda Odyssey a few months ago, the Apple CarPlay wouldn’t work, then the main center screen started black screening and not turning on. I took it in to the dealer and they ordered the part almost 4 weeks ago. It’s still not in. Anyways, about 2 weeks ago, my van randomly braked while I was going 70 mph on SRT. Fortunately, we didn’t get in an accident. There were no shadows, no other cars in front of us, not any reason for it to flash BRAKE and stop. My mom was next to me and yelled, “What are you doing there are cars behind us.” I said I didn’t know what was happening and started pushing on the gas to go again. I immediately took it to the dealer and told them I don’t feel safe driving it until they can fix the brake issue. The manager told me this happened to another lady in a ‘22 CRV from the same dealership, but she was on surface streets. It started w the black screening and than the random braking. Long story short, they replaced the tuner on her car and she hasn’t had issues in about 5-6 weeks. They told me to wait for the part, and while I wait, they can turn the safety features off. I said no thanks, I’ll leave it until they are sure it’s fixed. They won’t give me a loaner so I’ve been borrowing my parents’ car. Out of nowhere, the gears began slipping and when pressing the accelerator, RPMs revved to high levels but there was no acceleration as if we were driving in neutral. We were able to coast to the side of the interstate and down an off ramp. After restarting the vehicle, a litany of orange warning lights came on. Gears continued to slip resulting in the car being towed to a nearby Honda dealership where the transmission was completed replaced (Again, with less than 1500 miles on the car). This was a significant safety issue with three children in the car where we could not accelerate while driving at 70 MPH on the interstate. Numerous instances of this problem have been identified in the last 4 months alone.

We purchased our 2022 Honda Odyssey mini van less than a month ago. We drove it off the lot at I think 20 miles? All was great, we love the van. Until… I drove from The Colony to Justin. We were having our floors redone and I needed to take our toddler and infant away each day while our house was worked on. I was going to go back and forth Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. It was our first “long” trip as we don’t really go anywhere due to Covid. The van drove great Until we came home Thursday evening. I was 25 miles into our trip, driving 75 mph keeping up with the traffic on 121 and all a sudden my van had a huge thud jerk like as if I hit a curb and then I lost all acceleration. I hit the gas and all that happened was the RPMs would skyrocket but no power. My speed went from 75 to 40 to 20 within seconds. I’m in the middle lane with cars speeding past and a semi coming up behind me. I AM SCARED!! I quickly call my husband while I attempt to get to to shoulder. I finally get over and I put the van in park. Cars are going so fast that the van is shaking anytime a car goes by. I put the van in drive in hopes to get to an exit. Absolutely NO acceleration. I KNEW this was a transmission issue. I was able to coast off to the next exit and into a parking lot. I had it towed to the dealer. Upon first inspection they said nothing was wrong with it. I told them to keep checking because there was something major wrong with it. A few hours later they called and said my transmission was being replaced and that Honda was aware of some issues with this year’s transmission. I asked if there was a recall yet as this was dangerous. They said no. I feel that’s extremely unsafe to continue to sell these vans without disclosing the known transmission issue. I feel quite cheated that I was allowed to buy a $40000 without any disclosure of a potential issue. We would have waited to buy a van then. Very very unethical

After driving for only 2000 miles, the car suddenly went into limp mode where the engine shut off. All system warning lights came on in the vehicle and we could not drive the car. The car was towed to a nearby Honda dealer and was inspected. The accelerator pedal was replaced and all error codes were cleared. While we were fortunate that this did not happen on the highway or where there were other vehicles, it is very concerning that a brand new vehicle malfunctions in this way. If my children were in the car, their safety would be put at risk. This incident also makes me question the reliability of this vehicle. There were no warning signs for this issue, as one would not expect anything to happen to a car that was purchased only a month ago. Since we were scheduled to drive 16+ hours back home in a few days, the unreliability of the car also caused unnecessary stress and anxiety. Additionally, a loose bolt was found on the driver's side after the vehicle was returned to us from the dealer.

We were driving our 2022 Honda Odessey Elite Van going 70 mph when the transmission shifted into neutral without warning on a busy interstate causing the van to no longer accelerate. We thankfully were able to coast to the shoulder, but we were unable to get the car to accelerate after the fact. There were no warning lights or indicator lights of any kind that went off leading up to the transmission failing. The car was towed to a local dealer (we were 4 hours from home) who confirmed that there was an issue with the transmission gears "miss numbering" and the transmission needed to be fully replaced after only 2,000 miles on the car. This is a significant safety issue given this occurred without warning and while the car was traveling at a high rate of speed. It not only put us as the drivers of the car at risk, but others on the road. Our car is still in the shop and the replacement of the transmission is in progress. I have seen others post of the exact same issue in online forums and it does not appear to be an isolated incident with the 2022 models.

Car won't shift gear. We were stuck on the highway which was obviously not safe. Turned off the engine, after a while started it and car was able to shift partially with lots of weird noises and only drove slowly. When we wanted to put in reverse to enter the driveway it did not respond once again and we were stuck in the middle of the road for a few minutes. Luckily no cars went by at the time. The car is ONE AND A HALF MONTHS OLD and has less than 500 MILES on it. This was crazy scary

I got a 2022 Honda Odessy towing only for 1 month with $1,500. Today, it started to shake when I tried to perform on the oil pedals. The rpm needles on the dashboard starting oscillating very quickly between gears. I can not accelerate rather than hearing a loud noise. The infotainment system froze at least 2 to 3 xs. 3. the rpm needles started oscillating very quickly, the car started shifting gears and making loud sounds. "Transmission system problem" shows on the dashboard and "blink spot information system failed problem" shows up as well. Eventually, I successfully moved the car to the sidewalk grass. It would be very dangerous if there were more traffic since it was responding to the oil pedal. The car was towered to my local Honda dealer this evening. I just can not believe a new honda odyssey broke down on the way in the first 1,500 miles. Luckily, it did not happen on the highway.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The transmission malfunctioned and is currently being replaced by the dealership. New transmission was ordered from Honda. Case ticket (12339737) has been opened with Honda America regarding this issue. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Driving on highway going 80 MPH. Van slows down to 50 MPH without warning and won't go any faster during rush hour. Luckily, no cars were behind us which they could have rear ended us. Was able to exit highway and pull into gas station. Test drive on local street and van won't go beyond 4th gear even with manual settings. Go back to gas station to park and van won't go in reverse. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, dealership confirm issue. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? UNKNOWN. Dealership is replacing transmission but don't know if Honda will come to inspect the part or not. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Cruise control was on at the time of issue and appear it wasn't able to pick up cars in front so it would slow down at random times.

The driver’s side rear-view mirror glass started to vibrate two weeks ago. While driving at freeway speed, I noticed the mirror glass tilt/drop down and it looks as if it had come detached from the mirror body itself. I pulled over and was able to “click” the mirror glass back in, but it has vibrated again a few times since. I’m concerned that the glass will detach while on the road.

On 6-10-21, we purchased a 2022 Honda Odyssey from Millennium Honda, Hempstead, NY. On the drive home, my husband immediately noticed a strong odor & felt the car acting strange on gear (like a shift that was out of place) but thought it was just part of being a new car. On 6-11-21, I drove the car with my 2 kids (2 & 5) and mom and she noticed a strong odor like "burnt rubber". The infotainment system froze & shut down twice. The car felt strange when I was accelerating. On 6-12-21, I was driving with my children on the NJ Garden State Parkway & approximately 40 minutes into the ride, the RPM needles starting oscillating very quickly between gears. The car felt strange when I was trying to accelerate. The infotainment system froze at least 2 to 3 xs. We arrived at our destination, parked the car and turned it off. That evening as I was driving back home on the Parkway approx. 20 minutes into the drive the RPM needles started oscillating very quickly, the car started shifting gears and making loud sounds. I tried to move to the right shoulder as there was a lot of traffic but the car would not accelerate despite pressing hard on the gas pedal. A few minutes later a warning message displayed "Transmission temperature near limit. Performance may be reduced." I pulled the car over horrified. We called the dealership & Honda roadside service but they could send a tow truck because I was on a state highway. My husband came to get us and after an hour he was able to slowly drive the car on "sport mode" at about 25 m/p/h. We reported the incident to our dealership and Honda America operations & they have opened a case number. The vehicle was towed today to a local Honda dealer for assessment. THIS IS A SIGNFICANT SAFETY ISSUE THAT POSES RISK OF HARM AND DEATH TO DRIVERS. HONDA MARKETS THIS VEHICLE TO FAMILIES & MY FAMILY'S LIFE WAS PUT IN JEOPARDY IMMEDIATELY UPON PURCHASE. THIS CAR WAS OUT OF SERVICE WITHIN 48 HOURS OF SALE.

We were driving on M-14 EB, merging onto I-275 N. As we approached the exit ramp, the vehicle began to decelerate as the engine wildly revved. We pulled over the the very narrow shoulder of the exit ramp, as to allow traffic to pass and turned the vehicle off, in hopes that it was simply a computer glitch. We re-started the vehicle and encountered the same problem. There were no warning lamps or indications of a problem. We managed to limp it slowly to the end of the ramp where we called Honda Roadside Assistance. We had it towed to the dealer we bought it from. Their service department called 3 days later, saying they had driven it, had the same problem, and verified that the entire transmission had failed and required replacement. We had taken deliver of this vehicle just a week earlier. It only had 212 miles on it. Had that transmission failed while we were in the center lane, with the amount of traffic at the time, it would have likely caused an accident. We were VERY lucky.

We were exiting from one freeway to another. As we approached the exit ramp, the vehicle began to decelerate and the engine began revving. We managed to pull over to the narrow shoulder, to allow traffic to pass. We turned the vehicle off, hoping is was a simple glitch in the computer. We restarted the car and encountered the same problem. We managed to limp the vehicle to the end of the entrance ramp and called Honda Roadside Assistance. They had the vehicle towed to the dealer we had purchased it from. There were no warning lamps or indications of an issue prior to this 4 days later, the service department called. The had driven it, encountered the same issue, inspected it, and determined that the entire transmission needed to be replaced. Had this occurred while we were in the middle lane rather than the exit lane, given the amount of traffic at the time, it would likely have caused multiple accidents.
