Lemon law eligibility depends on state law, number of repair attempts, and days out of service. Consult an attorney for actual eligibility.
Worn chain tensioners cause timing chain skip or snap — common on GM 5.3L/6.2L, Ford EcoBoost, VW/Audi EA888, BMW N47/N63. Listen for cold-start rattles.
Water pump failure causes rapid overheating. If the engine overheats even once, head gasket damage is likely — turning a $400 part into a $3,000+ repair.
Degraded transmission fluid destroys clutch packs and solenoids. CVT transmissions are especially sensitive — neglected fluid can result in a $4,000–$8,000 replacement.
Degraded coolant loses corrosion inhibitors and attacks aluminum engine components. Can cause head gasket failure and water pump corrosion.
Worn spark plugs cause misfires that can foul and crack catalytic converters. A $150 tune-up can prevent a $1,200 catalytic converter replacement.
Dirty or failing injectors cause rough idle, reduced fuel economy, and increased emissions. Cleaning costs $100–$200; replacement $800–$1,600.
A lot of times when I park even on flat surfaces my parking brake engages and It’s hell being able to leave because I have to turn the car off open the door close door start the again put in drive while my foot is on the brake and pull and push the parking brake button 4 times. Then I’m able to drive. This has been happening more frequently and there is an open recall for the parking brakes calLED ESP RECALL
2016 Mercedes-Benz C63 S AMG, M177 4.0L twin-turbo V8. This engine is marketed under Mercedes-Benz's "One Man, One Engine" philosophy — hand-assembled by a single master technician. It failed irreparably at 67,323 miles on a properly maintained vehicle owned by a 14-year Mercedes-Benz customer who has purchased six Mercedes-Benz vehicles. All maintenance performed on schedule with genuine OEM Mercedes-Benz parts at Mercedes-certified shops. At approximately 65,000 miles, check engine light illuminated with cylinder 7 misfire. A Mercedes-certified shop found and replaced a burnt spark plug and all 4 ignition coils with OEM parts. Misfire cleared. Three months later at 67,000 miles, shaking and check engine light returned. All 8 spark plugs replaced with OEM parts. Misfires returned within 100 miles — now on cylinders 1, 3, and 7 — accompanied by violent engine shaking and a fuel smell. Vehicle brought to authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer. Full diagnostic performed including borescope inspection. Confirmed: broken spark plug ceramic and unrepairable piston pitting in cylinder 4 and engine damage. Dealer confirmed engine is not repairable and recommends complete engine replacement. All findings documented on dealer repair order. Vehicle remains at the dealer and is available for inspection. Mercedes-Benz has published at least three Technical Service Bulletins on persistent misfires specific to this engine: LI54.21-P-062006 (multiple revisions — ECU ground faults, borescope protocol anticipating internal damage), LI07.61-P-073583 (post-turbo exhaust clamp failures), LI07.61-P-069688 (intake manifold cracks). Mercedes has acknowledged this defect pattern internally and has not issued a recall. Sudden power loss and violent shaking at highway speed is a direct safety hazard. NHTSA investigation warranted.
Spontaneous explosion of sunroof while car is in motion on the expressway 83 and could have caused an accident while my daughter was driving
The contact owns a 2016 Mercedes-Benz C300. The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 MPH and turning the steering wheel to the right or the left, there was an abnormal clicking sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the rear sub frame of the vehicle had severe corrosion and needed to be replaced. The contact was advised by a service technician that there had been a recall for corrosion failures, but the year and the model were not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
Strong fuel smell in cabin Can maybe cause a fire
fuel lines/ clamps defective causing a fuel leak. vehicle could catch on fire and fumes are extremely strong inside the cabin. issue confirmed by Mercedes dealer, mentioned there is an extended warranty up to 120,000 miles. rejected mine because i was at 120,300 miles. had to pay out of pocket. no warning lights or anything just the really strong smell of fuel and fuel range dropping. this is a very common issue thats known and should be a recall.
The contact owns a 2016 Mercedes-Benz C300. The contact stated that whenever the fuel tank was full, there was a fuel-burning odor coming from the engine and entered the vehicle through the A/C vents. In addition, when the vehicle was cold, the odor was entering the vehicle through the A/C vents. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a collision center specializing in foreign vehicles, where it was diagnosed that the fuel rail and injectors had a fuel leak. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure persisted. Upon further investigation, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V961000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). However, the VIN was not included. The contact stated that his mother owned the vehicle in the past and gave the vehicle to the contact two years ago. The contact's mother remembered receiving a recall letter; however, the contact's mother was unsure if the vehicle had been repaired in the past. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHSTA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
I am writing to formally report the premature failure and subsequent replacement of the electronic rack and pinion on my 2016 Mercedes-Benz C300 4Matic sedan. This repair was performed at Sears Imported Autos on 4/19/2024, at a cost of $5,840.14. Invoice number at Sears Imported Autos is XXX. My vehicle, VIN [XXX] , had only 74,427 miles at the time of the failure. The failure of a critical steering component at such a low mileage is highly unusual and, I believe, directly attributable to a latent manufacturing defect. I have recently become aware of a prior recall (NHTSA Campaign Number 18V850000) concerning the electronic power steering rack on these EXACT vehicles. While I acknowledge that my vehicle VIN was not included in the official scope of the previous NHTSA recall, the nature and timing of my component's failure strongly mirror the documented issues of MY power steering failure. Mercedes-Benz USA Customer Care Center just informed me that my VIN does NOT qualify for the recall, but they did NOT say the failure on my car was a different part. The fact that the very same exact part failed so prematurely, a component that is expected to last for the lifetime of the vehicle under normal conditions, points to a systemic quality control issue beyond the scope of the original recall. The recall should be expanded to include my VIN and likely a few others. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Vehicle developed OBD-II code P052E related to crankcase ventilation/PCV system malfunction. Issue causes improper crankcase pressure, rough idle, oil vapor smells, and check engine light. Independent research shows this is a common failure on 2015–2017 Mercedes C300 models. Repair requires replacement of crankcase vent/PCV assembly. This appears to be a premature emissions system failure.
An independent service center diagnosed my car as having a fuel leak stemming from the fuel rail and fuel injectors. This is a fire hazard due to a gas leak. There is a gas smell in the interior cabin that I noticed approximately one month ago. I believe this pertains to NHTSA ID #21V961, and I would like NHTSA to consider including my VIN in this recall.
My 2016 Mercedes Benz C300 started giving off funky fumes last year in 2024, now the fumes have turned into the smell of gas in 2025. Everytime that I call the dealership on Rockside Rd./ Broadway, located in Bedford Ohio, they give me an excuse as to why it's not their responsibility to correct the issue. What can I do?
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT appeared on dash at approximately 72k miles. Had code read and diagnosed by certified mechanic and he had an active code P06DA00(this code signifies an electrical fault, open circuit, or high resistance in the circuit for the oil pump control valve on vehicles with two stage oil pump, which can lead to incorrect oil pressure, which can cause engine damage if not addressed). Vehicle was taken to Harriman Mercedes in New York. They did not acknowledge an active code but wanted to diagnose and repair a stored code for a small evap leak, which was rectified with a new gas cap. After prying about the P06DA00 code, they finally admitted it did have a stored code but to ignore it because it had something to do with domestic and foreign car engine computers issues. How do you ignore an active code with a potentially serious engine issue and told to ignore it. I know for a fact that this is a common problem with these 2.0L engines in these cars for many years.
IT'S RIDICULOUS I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALER (MERCEDES-BENZ OF NOVI, MI) YESTERDAY 2016 MERCEDES C300 4MATIC FOR EXTENDED WARRANTY ON LOW PRESSURE FUEL HOSE AS THE CAR CABIN SMELLS LIKE GAS FUMES TO THE POINT WHERE IT GOT ME DIZZY AND NAUSEOUS AND THREW ME IN BED FOR A DAY. WHEN I ARRIVED THERE I WAS TOLD YEAH THIS IS COMMON ON THESE CARS AND WARRANTY WILL TAKE CARE OF IT. GOT A CALL LATER SAYING IT WILL NOT BE COVERED AS THE 10 YEAR EXTENDED WARRANTY SURPASSED MY CAR AS MY CAR PRODUCTION DATE IS 09/15, I WAS LIKE PLEASE ITS ONLY A COUPLE MONTH AFTER AND ITS A FIRE HAZARDOUS AND HEALTH MATTER THEY WERE LIKE NO, NOW MY CAR IS THERE AND I HAVE TO PAY THEM $850 TO CHANGE AN ISSUE THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE TAKEN CARE FROM THE BEGINNING FROM THE MANUFACTURER.
The contact owns a 2016 Mercedes-Benz C300. The contact stated that there was a gasoline odor inside and outside the vehicle on several occasions, while driving at various speeds and while parked. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to accelerate as needed. The contact stated that there was no warning light illuminated, the fuel consumption increased, with the fuel gauge lowered more quickly. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who saw gasoline pooling near the fuel injector, and the coils were leaking between the fuel injector and the fuel rail, and the fuel rail or possibly the injector seals needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact believed that the vehicle should be included in a recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 98,000.
EPS- Electric Power Steering failed while driving causing hazardous and dangerous conditions. While unable to steer the vehicle it crossed the median into oncoming traffic barely avoiding an accident and endangering my life and life of other drivers and passengers. Unlike on hydraulic systems where in case of defective pump it is still possible to steer the car, this electric steering it was impossible to control even to load the vehicle on the tow truck. Terrible technology or design, most importantly it is NOT SAFE !
The contact owns a 2016 Mercedes-Benz C300. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact smelled a gasoline odor in the interior of the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that the fuel hose downstream of the fuel pump was leaking. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V837000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owns a 2016 Mercedes-Benz C300. The contact stated that while at a stoplight, the energy saver START/STOP feature engaged, but the vehicle stalled and failed to restart. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who determined that the START/STOP function failed to operate as designed. The mechanic informed the contact about NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V114000 (Electrical System, Engine and Engine Cooling). The local dealer was not contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 56,000.
Upon purchasing my 2016 C300, I starting experiencing a right pull whenever I press on the brakes. I was very concerned as I use this vehicle to assist with dropping and pick up of my 2 grandchildren. The more I drove the car, the more unsafe especially when I attempt to bring my car to a stop. I took the car to a local mechanic and I was advice to take it to a Mercedes dealership. The mechanic also advice that it was an issue with the REAR SUB FRAME. A week later I took the car in to Mercedes as suggested and a day later I received a call and video from Mercedes that the subframe was broken and that is why I am getting that hard pull whenever I brake. Mercedes also stated that the control arm bracket is barely on and it is causing the vehicle to flex.
Picked my 5 year old Granddaughter up from camp we had a down tornado warning and we were driving home suddenly the sunroof opens it starts raining on us I hurried and pushed the button to close it when I did it made a loud crunch noise and almost shut but stayed vented and one side is higher than the other. When you try to close it or open it it does move a like but I’m scared it will break on us

While driving my 2016 Mercedes-Benz C300 on Route 12 in Utica, NY around 8:10 PM on May 29, 2025, the panoramic sunroof spontaneously exploded while in the tilted vent position. It sounded like a gunshot and sent glass raining into the cabin, causing multiple cuts to my hand, ear, arm, and lower back while I was driving. The shock nearly caused me to lose control of the vehicle. Conditions were clear and dry, around 60°F, and I was driving about 50–55 mph. I have reported the incident to Mercedes-Benz USA (Case #14443457). This is a serious safety hazard, and I am concerned about residual glass in the vehicle’s ventilation system and potential future injuries. I am also concerned about paint and interior damage from the explosion.
While driving, my vehicle suddenly shut down in the middle of traffic without any prior warning. I was left stranded in the hot sun, fearing for my safety and praying that I wouldn’t be rear-ended. The incident was not only terrifying but also unacceptable for a vehicle of this caliber. I contact Mercedes customer service. I spoke to a representative name Stephanie. She called the Mercedes dealership service department in Columbus, Ga and received confirmation that my car did shut completely down on me without warning. Stephanie stated she will notate the incident. I told her there should be more than just a notation because this put me in grave danger, not only was my life in jeopardy this is a serious potential threat to others.
* Component Failed / Malfunction - Panoramic Sunroof Separation. The front roof panel located between the windshield and the panoramic sunroof has separated from the windshield panel. * Sun roof glass panel is at risk of separating for car and becoming airborne causing injury to driver and others. * Problem has been confirmed by independent service center. * First appeared on approximately April 21, 2025.
When I was driving down the road my car got a message on the dash that said power steering malfunction see owners manual. My steering wheel got locked up and tight it was hard to keep control of my car at 60 miles per hour. When I took it to the repair shop, I asked about the repair and if my Vin had a recall and when I looked up the production date of my car it's 2 numbers off the Vin numbers that were recalled for your. same issue with hat happened in 2016 when my car was produced in 2015, it says the same thing. It will cost like 5k to fix the problem due to the fact that its a sensor, and when I looked up the recall it was the same sensor that the recall was on with my Vin only being 2 numbers off I find it odd that my car is not affected by this bc its the same problem of the recall the part of that controls the power steering in the car
The panoramic sunroof is locked in an open position and will no longer close.
Just purchased this vehicle in Utah, was driving from Utah to Idaho on the interstate at 80mph when all of a sudden my sunroof opened up with high winds and blew right off. Luckily nobody was behind me but I’ve been driving 2 hours without a sunroof due to weak glue/manufacturing defect

--The sunroof glass suddenly shattered without any prior warning while the vehicle was in driving on the road. Some of the broken glass pieces scattered throughout the interior of the car. --The sudden shattering of the glass roof created a hazardous situation for the driver and passengers. Although no one was injured, we were shocked and initially thought it might be an explosion or gunfire. Additionally, the tiny glass shards is very dangerous. --We have called dealer and they said there might be several similar cases reported. --The vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives, but I have called dealer and insurance company. --There were no warning lights, messages, or symptoms indicating a potential failure before the incident. The glass shattered unexpectedly and spontaneously while driving.

The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V961000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE); as a possible cause for the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 53,000.
During cold weather there is always a gasoline smell when starting the engine that eventually goes away. On 01/20/2025 the smell was so intense that I decided to stop the engine and leave the car outside the garage just in case. Upon opening the hood, I noticed an amount of a type of liquid similar to gasoline right on the undercarriage protector covers. I could not reach with my hands but instead I used a wood stick that I had in the garage. I reached the liquid and submerged the stick for like 10 seconds and pulled it out. When I smelled it, it indeed smelled like gasoline. I took the stick to the back patio and lighted it up and as I suspected, the tip of the stick lighted up like a torch. I called a nearby mechanic and made an appointment to check it out and today (01/23/2025) I am bringing it in. I went to Youtube and found numerous videos showing this "well known issue" with some of the fuel lines in this type of vehicle which I believe is a tremendous hazard. Just imagine that when I turned the engine up on 01/20/25 the engine could had gone up in flames burning not only the vehicle, but my entire house with maybe my family inside? Please take serious note on this issue and try to come up with a mandatory solution for the problem. I will let you guys know the findings from the Mercedes mechanic once the job if completed in case you need more information. Thanks
My driver seat bottom has a rip in the seam . It is exposing the heat wires for the heated seats . I can’t use the heated seats because of the wire exposed .
The contact owns a 2016 Mercedes-Benz C300. The contact stated while reversing at approximately 10 MPH, there was a clunking sound coming from the steering wheel. The contact shifted into drive and while driving approximately 15-20 MPH, the clunking sound persisted, and the steering wheel seized. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a certified mechanic who diagnosed that the aluminum bolts in the drive shaft had corroded and sheared off. The contact was informed that the steering rack and bolts needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The dealer had been informed of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included in the Service Campaign Number: 2019080019 (Steering). The manufacturer was informed of the failure and confirmed the Service Campaign Number: 2019080019 (Steering). The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 78,000.
The roof fabric headliner getting separated from its foam backing. That created two sagging fabric pockets on both ends near the rear windshield.
Smells like gas and my auto group gave me a recall campaign bulletin showing recall for my make model and year (Mercedes c300 2016), but my VIN doesn’t show it as being covered by that recall.
My check engine light came on and I got it tested. The code came back as P052E. The power train system valve.
The rear differential failed, causing both rear axles to be broken and the vehicle to lose all propulsion on a city road. A noise in the drivetrain under acceleration was first reported to a dealership in Nov 2023 about five months prior to the failure, but the report was dismissed as tire slippage and not addressed further. Then the failure occured in April 2024, and the vehicle was towed to a dealership and repaired out of warranty at great expense. There were no warning lights or symptoms immediately prior to the failure.
The contact owns a 2016 Mercedes-Benz C300. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the driving assist and another unknown warning light were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was determined that the turn signal and steering wheel modules needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was unknown.
the roof panel cracked straight down the middle
Fuel is leaking inside cabin whenever I turn on my heat
I have noticed a recurring issue during the colder months where there is a strong gas smell inside the cabin, and I have also observed fuel dripping into the engine compartment. This issue seems to occur primarily in winter conditions. I was surprised to find that there has been no official recall or service bulletin addressing this concern, especially given the potential safety implications.
PCV fault
My car on has 80,000 miles and the camshaft position sprockets needs to be replaced. I went to a Mercedes dealer and this was the diagnostic. This causes the engine light to come on, hesitant engine, low acceleration while driving. The dealer said it will cost $8,000 to be replaced and still can go bad. There was a recall for this issue before. RecallCampaign2015100007

This vehicle was 2nd owner via Mercedes CPO. Note I bought this 2016 in 2018 on CPO, so recalls and technical notes were confirmed to be resolved. Had last taken to Mercedes dealership. Vehicle was always running fine until about 64,000+ miles when a check engine light came on while just entering the freeway and the vehicle started shaking violently. Continue to drive the vehicle for a few miles to get to the destination. Had the vehicle towed to the dealership and the dealership declared that cylinder 1 had lost 80% compression and had a cylinder 1 piston crack. This is consistent with numerous claims on Mercedes message boards. Mercedes dealership said that this vehicle was not drivable and was not covered under warranty. Requested $11,000 for single piston repair or $15,000 for full engine rebuild replacement. Please note that M274 engine has this complaint. The engine is apparently a Nissan collaboration designed i-4 turbocharged engine and car is assembled in Alabama. Internal Mercedes technical bulletins talk about piston wrist pins. So Mercedes know there is an issue and they know status on my vehicle. Mercedes dealers have sent me documents on piston wrist pins replacement status. The recommendation is to rebuild or buy new motor. So i have no confidence that an engine rebuild will fix the issue. All oil change maintenance records show proper oil at proper intervals and multi-point inspections. Correct use of premium gas was used. Vehicle had been inspected and given all green remarks on multipoint review before the incident. - Got It ? Requesting investigation as I have 3 vehicles, Toyota (2002), Honda(2008), and YES a Mercedes(2005) with 216K miles. So don't tell me that this is my fault.

On [XXX] I was on my way home from running errands and proceeded to open my panoramic sunroof using the button inside of my car. When I arrived home, I pressed the button again to close the sunroof. As it began closing and went into the forward position, once it reached the top of my roof, the back of the sunroof would not go down back into place. This left the sunroof open in the venting position. On [XXX], I went to RBM of Atlanta where I purchased the vehicle [XXX] to report and resolve the issue. The service center was rude and brushed off my concerns. They were able to manually close the sunroof as a temporary fix and informed me not to use the sunroof button, but they were unable to assist with my diagnostic or repair inquires. However, one of the service employees advised that this was a common issue that was previously recalled. I immediately contacted MBUSA where I was connected to a Sales rep at RBM of Atlanta who also informed me that this was a common issue. Today, 07/24/2024, I went to a diagnostic appt. at RBM of Alpharetta and was told by the service advisor that there had been at least 9 recalls for this issue and my sunroof has all of the defective parts that were supposed to be replaced when these recalls took place. He also informed me that I should have been advised of this issue before the vehicle was sold to me. I have attempted to resolve the issue with RBM on five different occasions to no avail. My vehicle is available for inspection upon request. I believe this issue puts myself and others at risk because if the entire sunroof is defective, it can detach at anytime and possibly hit and injure someone while I'm driving, which would make me liable. As stated previously, I have received confirmation that my sunroof is defective and should have been added to one of the several recalls. The last multi-point inspection was done nearly a year before I bought the car and a repair diagnosis was done today. There were no other signs. Panoramic sunroof has not worked since I bought my car. Today it started making a weird sound . My sunshade started opening and closing on its own . I have had enough with this sunroof . I feel is no longer safe . There needs to be a recall on it . I have seen other complaints about the sunroofs . I don’t want my sunroof to fly off and cause and injuries to anyone !
So many Mercedes Benz owner have issues with the code p052e code postive crankcase ventilation regulator valve This should be a recall
The vehicle is not passing emission inspection because the Positive Crank Case Valve/Ventilation failed to work after 48K miles.

P052e positive crankcase ventilation valve. Check engine light triggered by this code.
I opened my panoramic sunroof it didn’t open all the way and slammed shut . It didn’t break but if it had there would have been injuries. This is a known problem with this years car . And it needs to corrected .
The complaint is about the sunroof which has an open recall with all warning signs and risks exactly identical to my make, year and model (2016 mercedes benz c300). More than 15,000 vehicles have been affected by this problem and the warning signs suddenly appear with the vehicle. Mercedes Benz after their investigation after several reports were filed, later found that the sunroof glass panels were installed without prior application of the primer (bonding agent) which was supposed to ensure the specified strength of the bonded joint. NHTSA received several complaints concerning this issue where the sunroof suddenly began shaking and rattling which began with the driver noticing excessive wind noises in the area of the sunroof while driving indicating that the panel might be partially separated from the vehicle. I began noticing this on Tuesday May 28th, 2024, when my sunroof tilted open on the left side and failed to open properly. Upon closing it, I began to drive, and the wind noise and excessive rattling was immediately noticeable. It sounded like the wind was forcing open my sunroof and was almost like the wind was about to pull it out. In fear, I slowed down to about 20mph, but it was still very noticeable. I got scared and immediately pulled to the side of the freeway and parked. Then I immediately looked up the issue on google and noticed that there was an open recall for the exact same issue, for my make, model and year. It was noted that the roofs if not fixed will eventually pull out and flyaway posing a safety risk to the driver and other motorists who may crash as they try to avoid the debris or if the panel hits them. Luckily, I pulled over quicky out of fear for it felt like my sunroof was literally about to pull off by the wind. Now I am unable to drive my vehicle because of fear for my safety. Please I would appreciate if this were resolved and for my vehicle to be recalled and fixed immediately as soon as possible. Thanks.
While driving on the highway, I tried to open my panoramic sunroof, it made a grinding sound and was stuck in the open position with one corner for the sunroof slanted higher than the other. I was afraid that the sunroof would shatter or that the wind would blow off components. Afterward, the sunroof would not close even after I took it to the dealership. They informed me that they could not close the sunroof and my only option was to repair it for $4,000 or buy another car. After looking at the costs of replacement cars, I decided to pay for the repairs out of pocket. I found on multiple reddit and mercedes forums that this is a common issue in Mercedes C class vehicles made on and around 2016. My service advisor told me that he has so many customers from these panoramic sunroofs failing due to a cost cutting measure from Mercedes who decided to use plastic tracks instead of metal. He also informed me that they went back to metal a few years after my car was manufactured. This leads me to believe that Mercedes acknowledged the issue and is trying to hide it from NHTSA. Here is a link to a forum post that has a similar picture to how mine looked, notice that one side is stuck in a higher position. [XXX] Here is another post with others with similar issues [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
My brother was driving his car on the highway and out of no where the sunroof literally exploded causing the glass to shatter on him and the front panel to detach from the vehicle. Swinging and hanging on the side of the car causing dents, scratches, and chips making this a safety hazard. Thank god my brother was able to safely merge over to the emergency lane without causing any accidents my brother was shocked with glass raining down on him when this happened but he wasn’t injured glad no one was injured in this incident because anything could’ve happened. A lot of Mercedes have a recall for the sunroofs front panel which causes it to detach from the vehicle while driving which I believe is what happened here this can cause a significant safety risk because the person might get jump scared causing him/her to swerve into other cars beside them. My brothers year and model is on the same recall list but his vin number was not included on the recall. Which leads me to think this was a mistake on the manufacturer end. We spoke to Mercedes USA (Manufacturer) And a Mercedes dealership said they cannot help us out or do anything for us to help us fix the sunroof because his vin doesn’t have that recall I asked if there could be a possibility that the car has that recall but it’s just not listed under and the recall they said that could be a possibility but they won’t fix it unless it’s under the vin which just now leaves us to pay 6-7 thousand dollars out of pocket to fix the sunroof, dents, and scratches that were causes by the sunroofs front panel flying off the car. There was not any warning lights or symptoms of this happening and I know for a fact a rock did not hit because the sunroof was closed at the time that this happened and we would have felt and heard it. Our only option now is to file claim with NHTSA and wait to hear back. The vehicle is available to see upon request.
Panel between windshield and sunroof is peeling off loosing the clear coat even when the car is only 40.000 miles and is inside the garage
A couple years back I had an engine light pop up and it was the code P052E which as I’ve done my research and read a lot of forums this is a common problem with the W205 Mercedes Motors. As of today 04/18/24 the engine light came on and I got it diagnosed to find out it is the same problem again. This repair is almost $2000 and it is due to Mercedes faulty manufacturing of the PCV valve. I have read things that say there has been extended warranty on it and a lot of submissions for recalls, that I’m not exactly sure of.
The contact owns a 2016 Mercedes-Benz C300. The contact stated that while driving at various highway speeds, the message "Check Power Steering" was displayed, and the steering wheel became stiff and very difficult to turn in either direction. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V850000 (Steering). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The local dealer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 96,000.
I need Positive Crankcase ventilation valve replace It's a common repair that comes up with these makes/models
I was taking my son to work and I heard my sunroof open and close when the controls were not being touched . I’m afraid if it opens and it closes on its own that it could fly off my car and hit someone else’s car and possibly injure some one .
Front Stationary Sunroof Panel (between the windshield and the sunroof) deteriorating and cracking in the middle. I've read about a recall on previous year models that will extend to this year model or even further year but waiting on this recall to reach my vin number. I've seen same model year in other states have this issue resolved with the recall update in Feb 2024. This is related to the NHTSA Recall ID: 23V854.
I received a warning that my left front headlight was not working. I took the car to my dealer to have the light replaced. I was told that because this is an LCG assembly the entire assembly unit needed to be replaced and the cost would be $3,500.
There is a fuel leak in the engine area and as well.as.undermeath the vehicle and Mercedes only covers a extended warranty which is not fully fixing the issues gas is a dangerous thing and I would.wjy haven't there been a recall on this know.issue with these w205 Mercedes
Pcv valve has gone bad, and it seems like everyone i ask that is mercedes technician they all say these parts are terribly made and always break.
The Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve is crucial for regulating the flow of gases in the engine's crankcase. If the PCV valve malfunctions or becomes clogged in a car like the 2016 Mercedes Benz C300 4-matic, several problems can arise: 1. **Increased Pressure:** A malfunctioning PCV valve can cause pressure to build up in the crankcase. This increased pressure can lead to oil leaks, gasket failures, or even engine seals blowing out. 2. **Poor Engine Performance:** When the PCV valve fails, it can disrupt the air-fuel mixture in the engine, leading to rough idling, stalling, or decreased fuel efficiency. This can result in a loss of power and overall poor engine performance. 3. **Contamination:** A faulty PCV valve may not properly route harmful gases, like unburned fuel and moisture, out of the crankcase. This can lead to contamination of the engine oil, reducing its effectiveness in lubricating engine components and potentially causing premature wear and damage. 4. **Increased Emissions:** A malfunctioning PCV valve can result in increased emissions from the vehicle, as it may not properly recirculate harmful gases back into the combustion chamber for burning. Overall, a nonfunctional PCV valve can negatively impact both the car's performance and the environment, potentially leading to costly repairs and increased pollution. Additionally, prolonged exposure to increased emissions from the vehicle can be harmful to both the environment and the health of individuals. Therefore, it's essential to regularly inspect and maintain the PCV valve to ensure proper functioning of the vehicle.
PCV Valve Malfunction, common in my model year.
My Mercedes has a P052E check engine light code for its PCV value performance. I do see that many other drivers are having this issue and that repairs are around $2,000.
There is a gas smell pervasive in the driving compartment of the car. My mechanic identified a recall campaign for almost every other 2016 C 300 class vehicle. For some reason, my “platform quote number is not listed, but the problem is exactly the same as described in campaign description number. 21P2197456 released on December 17, 2021.
The contact owns a 2016 Mercedes-Benz C300W. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started, the power steering warning light illuminated and the power steering seized. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Electronic power steering failed. The electronic power steering on this vehicle has failed several times, making it almost impossible to steer. When this occurs, steering requires a tremendous amount of force and puts the vehicle and driver at enormous risk of an accident.

Electric power steering lost power and failed while driving on drive way. The steering became very difficult to turn and the car became very hard to control if not impossible. If it had failed while on the road with other cars, especially while turning, the car could be in a crash with serious accident that could have injured me and others. The problem was reproduced by the dealer. The dealer examined the car and steering components and has confirmed that the electric power steering rack failed. There was a recall done (17V243000) some time ago, however, my VIN is not included in the recall. The problem that my car is having is exactly the same as is described in this recall, 17V243000. It seems that more cars are having this same issue.
Positive Crankcase ventilation regularly Valve. This issue is in so many c300s and should be recalled for that reason.

The sunroof locked open during a road trip. I am mechanically inclined, so adding lubricant and driving through a low pressure air front caused the sunroof to shut. Had I been in an emergency, not mechanically inclined, or if this happen during inclement weather or to a little old lady this would have been a severe issue causing the vehicle to become inoperable due to rain or snow entering the cabin and reducing visibility, and damaging the electronic components in the vehicle's cabin. This is also a safety hazard to the the drivers health in conditions of smog, extreme low temperature, animal attack or if there was an assault from a criminal with ill intentions.

I took my car for service "B" at the dealership. They told me the rear subframe is rusting and there is a hole forming already. Apparently, this is a known problem that Mercedes Benz provided warranty extension up to 20 years with unlimited mileage. However, they stopped at 2015 models. Mine was bought from the same dealership in October 2015, but it is a 2016 model, but actually has the exact same problem earlier models have and they cover with their voluntary extended warranty. I am told to replace it, it will cost at least $4600. They are refusing to cover it under warranty because I my car is at around 60,000. The car did not even reach 100K and well maintained, but has rusted frame already that can be a serious safety hazard according to Mercedes Benz associate.

Power Train System - P052E Positive Crankcase Ventilation Regulator Valve Indicates a fault in the Positive Crankcase Ventilation Regulator Valve. I repaired my car for the same issue in 2019 January and it failed again in 2024 January. It costs $2000 to repair and it has a warranty of two. It failed after 3 years. Same issue is occurring in Mercedes C300 and GLC 300 and multiple times. But company isnt taking any responsibility to fix the issue or at least extend the warranty. 1. My coils are faulty and needing to be replaced, but not part of the existing recall for C63s coils. On the message forums for C63s I’ve come across a lot of owners that are having issues not being part of the recall. Campaign No. 2017060008.
While driving past, close proximity or even going 30-40mph on a local road or even 60-70 on a highway the break assist function will repeatedly beep, and most times it will stop my car for me. This occurs also, when there are no cars near me! It’s very sudden, and unpredictable. on more occasions than few, if i’m driving in the middle of a 3- lane road, and cars are stopping in the far right lane, or making a turn my break assist will malfunction and automatically break. Multiple occasions I feared that a car may rear-end me. It happens alot. Very scary. This has been occurring for more than 2 years.
Mercedes Benz Selma, Texas Dearlership refuses to service known issue with fuel system leaks on C300 because they cannot reproduce problem. Problem is that don't have the correct environment to test for this know problem. “There is a short rubber fuel line/hose in the engine compartment that is attached with compression clamps; the hose connects the fuel line from the gas tank to the high pressure fuel pump. When it gets cold outside (below ~40 degrees Fahrenheit) the clamps loosen a bit and the hose will leak gas. This is what you will smell in the cabin. Once it gets warmer outside or the engine bay warms up, the smell will tend to go away. No clue how they've gone all this time without a safety recall, but I did make a report to the NHTSB last month when it started happening to me.” The fix is to have the rubber line w/clamps replaced. If you still have warranty the dealer can take care of it. (Provided they are configured to test for this defect properly which they are not. Bottom line, fuel leaks in garages like mine with a gas water heater are a BIG issue. I alerted the dealership that they and MB would be liable if something were to happen since they refused to repair vehicle.
Pcv valve broke and it emits all sorts of poisonous gases to the cabin!
Ac/heater smells like mold/musty/mildew inside the cabin. Took for the extended warranty but will not honor unless you have proof of cabin filters purchased every year. This is their way of finding a loop of not fixing the issue.
Mercedes C300 4Matic Engine light off. The diagnostic tool showed P052E error, which seems like a common problem with MB C300 models built from 2015. Is there a manufacturer recall for this issue? This warning came a few weeks ago and disappeared by itself shortly. It came again.
My panoramic sunroof has an extreme amount wind coming through it while driving 40 miles per hour . I can also hear my panoramic sunroof sliding back and forth . I’m terrified that that it will fly off while driving and cause a road hazard .
Engine light with code P052E
In the past few months while driving this car in the Washington DC metro area at normal road speed, the car has suddenly and unexpectedly lost driver power. Each time, I have pushed down on the gas pedal, and after some hesitation the car has moved forward, and then continued to operate normally. This has happened three times in the past 3-4 months.
Engine code P052E has come on at 60k miles. After researching the problems this is a very common problem with the 2016 c300 that mercedes refuses to address. To add insult to injury the part needed to be replaced is a sensor worth 100 dollars but mercedes charges over $2500 because you need specialty tools to get to it. This is a very common problem with owners around 40-80k miles and has no cause other than faulty parts on Mercedes end.
My mercedes c300 Check engine light came on for P052e positive crankcase ventilation and after doing research, this sounds like a common problem for this car / model
Had to have crankcase ventilation system replacement at 74k miles. $2,032.98 to replace. Did get a check engine light.
Had an oil change at a Mercedes dealership after driving for a couple hours. Check engine was on for a code P052E, being crankcase ventilation system. Had the car diagnosed, cost to repair 1,600 dollars. Went through with repair, the code pop up again (P052E). Having to bring vehicle constantly to Mercedes dealerships.
P052E - PCV Regulator Valve Performance: Actuator Stuck P06DA - Engine Oil Pressure Control Circuit/Open no sub type information My understanding is these are common issues and Mercedes and anyone who works on them know it is a common issue for all lines. I also have a broken sunroof that seems to be common on all lines. There are some recalls out for the sunroof but not for the C-Class C300, although all of the videos I have found match the same issues that were recalled on other models. The dealer confirmed these are known issues.
Engine light on smells gas constantly tried to change oil that did not work light came back on
i have been noticing a hissing sound coming from the brake paddle for almost 3 weeks. upon some online research i found out it could be a brake booster and there was a recall for the same car brand due to issues with brake booster in past but not included year 2016. vehicle not inspected yet.
CRANKCASE VENTILATION- code: P052E came up and I had just bought from the dealership with 87k miles
Started smelling gas then check engine light came on took it to mercedes they did diagnostic which said low boost and that I needed to replace the turbocharger at a cost of over $7000
My check engine light popped on with code p052E for the Positive Crankcase Ventilation Regulator Valve Performance.
Check engine light comes up. The crankcase ventilation has to be replaced. This is a well known defect in design by Mercedes Benz and there are hundreds of people who have had to replaced the crank case costing thousands of dollar to only have it happen again due to its faulty design. It’s well documented all over the Internet.
It is such a common issue reported by many 2016 c300 owner who experienced error code p052e bad Pve valve. My car only has 40,000 miles. I think the manufacture should be responsible for a recall. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The code P052E reads at only 49.000 miles....Mercedes wants $3000.00 to repait ir (replace PCV valve ). Car runs and drives normally....its probably a faulty sensor. I have seen a lot of posts with owners havins same issue.
PVC valve replacement Engine light off and on Started about 3 months ago
Panoramic sunroof is closing right way. While when i drove air comes in .
The small plastic located inside the sliding panoramic sunroof explode and the Panasonic sunroof can be open/close or up/down normally but when I hit close it will stop where the broken pieces was and the roof will automatically move back to the fully open position Dealer said need the rail replaced -2057800175 -2057800275 Motor is broken, need to be replaced , he said after saying the roof can go forward and backward, up and down but can’t close completely. I was gullible to believe what the technician and sale guy said. Technically technician can check the voltage and say it for sure if it is broken. Also, a technician already knew that the sliding rail is damaged. He jumped to the conclusion that motor is broken because of sunburn. I have asked my nephew what he would do in this situation. He innocently said he would replace new sliding rails first and try to run if the “alleged motor “ is really broken. If it is broken, he can just switch to a new motor before testing to confirm it working. He wouldn’t decide to buy a new motor that cost $1,400 extra while the old one might be working properly. Anyway, labor with rails and “motor” cost $3500. Then later I learn I’m not alone. How many affected from this defective parts that Mercedes doesn’t sell it separately. Owner must buy 2 set of rails- a left set and a right set. Cost $1100 total. I was just driving normally boom engine light comes on take it to the dealership and it come up as crank case vent line which they quoted me 2300$. I think this should be recalled I have seen so many people with the same issue I have actually had someone tell me this was the only major problems with the w205 c300 before this happened. I think it should be recalled because from what I’ve seen it happens to every single c300 just at different mileages. Hopefully this will get a recall because it seems to be a very common issue and should be covered by the dealer.
I have a problem that happened with a trouble code: P052E. It appears for now reason so the problem is in a faulty positive crankcase ventilation regulator valve. It costs a lot and not all the mechanics can do this type of work.
My car had a problem about starting so I went to see a dealership. They got the job done and charged me $320. I just realized that in the invoice they used recall campaign to cover my car. However, they charged me $320 for no reason. Also, I never got any letter regarding to recall. How did they used recall campaign on my car?? And I recently had a sunroof derailed and they used the campaign again but charge me $2700 for it. And of course my car isn’t in their recall list?? I never got a letter as well
Engine misfire, rough idle, shake when come to red light stop, burnt smell inside cabin, loss of power
Vent valve failed and needs repair. I could smell gasoline from my car weeks up to the check engine light going off. These leaking fumes are a hazard to the population and environment. This problem is quite common on Mercedes forums such as MBWorld. This car was diagnosed at an official Mercedes Benz dealership (New London, CT). The check engine light came on weeks after symptoms started to appear (on and off).
This auto has approximately 45,000 miles on it and was found to have a fuel leakage issue on a high pressure pump and a fuel hose. Gas smell was very bad and upon inspection, gas was leaking at the hose / pump connection directly onto the engine. I had the defect repaired for a total of $1288.57 and tried to submit the claim to Mercedes. I found out that this issue has been a problem for Mercedes and they have published an extended warranty rather than issue a recall. Mercedes has now declined the complaint and because this seems to be a major issue I wanted to press this with your agency. Please let me know if you would like any additional documentation regarding this matter. Thank you - [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
Check engine light P052E, PVC valve. Dealer wants $2,500 for this repair and people are complaining that around 30k-50k it does it. Thats ridiculous. My dealer said its a common issue but Mercedes is not issuing a recall.
I was driving on the local freeway and the strip of glass between the windshield and the sunroof flew off and landed on the pavement behind me. Thankfully the car behind me was far enough away that it didn't hit it--but it could have if it had been. If that had happened I shudder to think what the result would have been. The risk is to those behind me--not to me. The only indication that there was a problem before the event was only a few seconds before the piece flew off when it started to become unattached and the noise from the wind catching it raised my concern. I took the car to Mercedes and had to pay $2300 to have the piece replaced.
Fuel smell in cab of car. Strong smell. Took it to dealer and they said they were damp with fuel
I bought my 2016 merecedes Benz c 300 4 matic with an engine light on . I took it the dealership and is the positive crankshaft failed . The crankshaft could reduce power on car . At 73000 mile the crankshaft should have not failed .
The PCV Valve/crankcase has broken 3 times on this car with different repairs and parts. This is happening very commonly to these cars and may cause significant safety issues. The code is P052E
my engine light came on. When I took the car to get diagnosticated message P052E showed.
My car failed smog test due to code P052e positive crankcase ventilation regularly valve. Upon some research, I found that this is very common issue with this car. The repair costs +$2000 before tax at the dealership. Please consider this complain as this issue is very common with this make model and unfortunately many drivers don’t realize that it’s due to faulty system.
PCV Valve causing contamination and shortening the life of the engine oil.
Check engine light keeps coming on and off.
This car is currently stolen out of bishopville south Carolina.
When i would turn the car to warm up, it has a hefty gasoline smell. Ive seen a lot of people online talk about the same issue. It seems there is a leak somewhere and it is definitely not safe. Especially when i turn on the heat, it just blows the gasoline into my face. This cant be safe and should definitely be fixed
I bought the car with 51k miles . Engine failed at 71k miles , due to piston #1 cracking . Almost caused me to get rear ended on a busy street . I went to the dealership and they charged me $10250 to replace the engine with a remanned long block and they offered a 2 year warranty. 9 months, only 19k miles on “new motor” the “new” engine fails again … same reason piston # 1 cracked failed suddenly on the highway and I had to push the car to safety to the emergency lane while cars where coming.. I went back to dealer demanding a replacement and told them this is a common occurrence and they refused to help me . I called corporate. They refused to help me saying I would have to purchase an engine for the second time out of pocket when it only lasted 9 months. This is a big fault in the m274 engine … it’s also a safety hazard that can cause serious injury, fire , or even a deadly accident. I read that it’s a common issue with these engines.
Panoramic sunroof pillars/rails detaching while operating vehicle. The front roof panel located between the windshield and the panoramic sunroof may not have been bonded correctly to the vehicle during a prior repair. When operating the vehicle at a moderate speed, the sunroof continued to adjust itself on its own. Belive that there is a risk of the sunroof detaching from the stock plastic rails and that it may not be properly bonded. I do not feel comfortable usuing the Panoramic sunroof for fear of it detaching during driving conditions, putting other motorist and myself in danger.
Check engine light appeared this morning, had the code scanned and found it to be P052E. This code is in reference to the Positive Crankcase Ventilation valve, which is responsible for routing excessive crankcase gases. After extensive research online, it would seem this is a known issue for Mercedes once they reach 50,000 miles, right outside of warranty. This is a very costly fix due to it being labor intensive. This should be a recall as it is a known mechanical issue, and even the dealers echo the same.
I made 2 engine stalling complaints at the dealership in 2021/2022.. the dealership kept my vehicle for 2 days and said nothing was wrong. My vehicle recently in stalled in drive gear, I had to cut the car off & turn it back on
PO52E code showed was the code pulled on my 2016 Mercedes c 300 4 matic . My car had 73000 miles on when I bought it and that code was pulled when I bought it . At 73000 miles my car shouldn’t have this problem .
Gas smell inside the cabin. Check engine light on . Took to dealer, stated P052e code came up. Positive crankcase ventilation valve went bad. The dealer says it is a pretty common problem for this vehicle and engine. Quote came back close to $2900 for parts and labor
A fuel smell can be detected at idle inside the vehicle and around the engine area. A recall for some VIN's of this model in this year was enacted but not this particular model. No visible fuel moisture can be detected. A repair facility stated it might be a faulty clamp on the return fuel line. The recall was for dirt on manufacturing between the fuel injectors/fuel rail. This is a safety / emissions problem that hopefully does not lead into a fire. No warning lights are present. This started about 2 months ago
My check engine light came on at about 68,800 miles. The OBD code shows that I need the Positive Crankcase Ventilation valve replaced. The repair for this is approximately $2,300 and requires about six hours of shop labor, and the part costing over $425. I’ve never known a PCV replacement on any vehicle to be more than $60, with the part itself being about $10-$20. Most times, the part can be simply cleaned and replaced. This is very disappointing. Especially given that the engine design, just two years prior, would have been less than $200 for the same repair, with part costing about $60. The vehicle does not show any symptoms of the part being blocked, as indicated in the code. There is no hesitation, loss a power or decline in fuel efficiency. However, the engine light cannot be turned off until the part is replaced. I think that $2300 to replace a part on seven year old car, well under 100,000 miles is indicative of either poor design or predatory. Hopefully, something can been done to address this. Thank you!
The contact owns a 2016 Mercedes-Benz C300. The contact stated that the sunroof failed to open. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.
Strong smell of gasoline on a daily basis for 3 months. Took vehicle to mechanic's and was informed that the fuel lines were leaking. Was shown the cracked lines.
Crankcase Ventilation Valve malfunction at under 50k. Check engine light is on and I took it into the shop after gas fumes were coming into the car through the ventilation system. I was informed that has been an ongoing issue with Mercedes and I was referred to fill out this document to try and kickstart a recall process. This is a problem that is very costly, and seemingly is happening to most recent models at around the 50k mark. Beyond that is is also a safety hazard as it is causing gas fumes to enter the cabin of the vehicle.
code P052E on 71000 miles. The crankcase vent valve replacement.
MY VEHICLE (2016 C-CLASS 300) HAS A STRONG GAS SMELL WHEN THE VEHICLE IS COLD AND IDLING. SEEMS LIKE IT'S COMMON PROBLEM IN W205 C300 CARS. TAKING TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSTICS THERE IS A CLASS ACTION INVESTIGATION: HTTPS://WWW.SAUDERSCHELKOPF.COM/INVESTIGATIONS/AUTOMOTI VE/MERCEDES-C300-AND-GLA250- FUEL -SMELL-CLASS-ACTIONINVESTIGATION/ YOU CAN SEE MULTIPLE PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME FUEL LINES;
The contact owns a 2016 Mercedes-Benz C300. The contact stated he noticed an abnormal fume odor entering through the air vents of the vehicle. The contact self-diagnosed the vehicle as having a fuel leak from the fuel pump. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 83,000.
CEL on, P052e code for crankcase ventilation/PCV failure. Vehicle has about 55k miles. Extremely common failure on these vehicles at this mileage and expensive/complicated to repair. Will not pass state emissions because of this. Given extensive anecdotal evidence of the pervasiveness of this problem, recall should be issue.

2016 MERCEDES BENZ C300. When I start the car , you smell gas inside and outside of the car. Also the fumes come the vent when the heat is turned on. I have approximately 69,700 miles on my car
2016 MB C300 41000 miles. Check engine light went on. Autozone code reader said p052e positive crankcase ventilationregulation value performance.
There is a strong fuel smells in the interior of my vehicle during a cold start of the vehicle, this is a 2016 Mercedes Benz C300, i called the Mercedes Benz customer service at 800-367-6372 and i was told my vehicle didn't qualify for a free repair. Thank you. Manuel
I have owned the vehicle for only about 4 months. My wife took the car out for a short errand and returned to tell me that the engine light was on. I took the vehicle to AutoZone and had the code ran on their diagnostic computer and it returned a P052E code for “Positve Crankcase Ventilation Regulation Valve Performance”. I have done a lot of research and have learned that this is a common problem and incurs huge financial impact to unsuspecting buyers. Mercedes has even made improvements to the part because of this issue. It’s not safe due to the possibility of oxygen build occurring in the combustion chamber. This part should be recalled and repaired by Mercedes.
Car smells like gasoline especially when the s/c or heater is in use.
The contact called on behalf of her daughter who owned a 2016 Mercedes-Benz C300. The contact stated the vehicle had an abnormally strong fuel odor coming from the inside and outside of the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact had not taken the vehicle to the dealer. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 72,000.
Cylinder 1 misfire initially, after taking it to an independent shop it was a piston 1 failure and required the small block to be replaced at 80,000 miles with a cost of $7000.
Car cabin continuously smells like gas after several repairs to the AC. AC was repaired because of mold issue a few months back, however, issues with the AC is always a problem with this car and model.
The crank case ventilation valve is bad. This part should be easily changed but the dealer wants over $3000. Happened at 62,000 miles.
The contact owns a 2016 Mercedes-Benz C300. The contact stated after starting the vehicle with the heater running, there was an abnormally strong gasoline odor coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted or informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 90,000.
the Burl wood trim panel on the interior doors are deteriorating , the drivers side panel is deteriorating to the point that it looks like acid is eating away at the material there is red markings showing .. i find this could be a safety hazard as it could eat away at the door itself. i have pictures of evidence. there was a recall on Mercedes E class during the same years i purchased my car, my car is the C-class which was not part of the recall, but falls into the same category as time frame of purchase. Mercedes told me to contact you. i look forward to your response as this is a safety concern thank you
(P052e) positive crankcase ventilation regularly valve
Horrible fuel smell coming through Air conditioning vents on cold start up. This presents a safety hazard as there is an obvious fuel leak on a still late model vehicle with no safety recall in sight.

Crank case ventilation system malfunction
Crank case to be replaced.
I have a 2016 C300 that was diagnosed with a severe brake booster issue. Last week, I had to brake hard while traveling 65 mph on a highway and they failed; luckily I was able to avoid catastrophe by maneuvering around the obstacle. I researched to see if this was a known issue and learned that some Mercedes models between 2008-2012 had recalls due to brake booster corrosion issues, but Mercedes might have a worse issue than just a few models prior to 2012, based on my experience!
At approximately 65K miles, my PCV valve is bad and needs to be replaced at a cost of $1600. I saw lots of customer complaints for the same issue online, I think Mercedes should cover this item under recall.
The contact owns a 2016 Mercedes-Benz C300. The contact stated that upon purchasing the vehicle, the driver's side sunroof corner was slightly raised. The contact stated while driving at 40 MPH, she heard the panoramic sunroof glass sliding back and forth. The contact stated that she held the sunroof glass while driving. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring. Additionally, the contact stated while attempting to open the sunroof, it slightly opened and the force itself closed. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 73,000.
The check engine light came on. I pulled the code and it was P052E, and requires the replacement of the crankcase ventilation system. I am told that this happens on virtually all C300s and (and maybe the GLC300 also). I think this should be recalled.
The contact owns a 2016 Mercedes-Benz C300. The contact stated while driving 45-60 MPH, the vehicle began to stall. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal several times but the vehicle failed to respond. The vehicle stalled. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The check engine warning light and several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the contact’s residence. The vehicle was then towed to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump and fuel tank needed to be replaced. The vehicle was being repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 61,000.
CEL light- with code P052e positive crankcase ventilation regularly valve. Vehicle only has 62,000 miles
Check engine light came in so I took it to a local auto shop. They ran the diagnostics and the code that appeared was P052E(Positive Crankcase Ventilation Regulation Valve Performance).
I was moving my car from one parking space to another space in front of my house. As I was pulling into the new space, I stopped to check the position of my car. As I lifted my foot off the brake, the car unexpectedly started to lurch forward. When I released the brake pedal, the car suddenly accelerated and proceeded to jump the curb and run into the front of my house. Luckily, no one was injured. There was some damage to the exterior of my house. I have reported this issue to the car manufacturer, Mercedes Benz. In response, they have opened a case to research it further.
PCV valve causing check engine light to come on. 50,000 miles on vehicle.
Engine light was up at around 48700mile, diagnosis reading stated "PCV Regulator Valve Performance"
The contact owns a 2016 Mercedes-Benz C300. The contact stated while crossing a pay toll, she was depressing the brake pedal to the floorboard but the vehicle failed to decelerate and rear-ended into a truck. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated no one was injured nor sought medical attention. The contact stated there was no need to call and report the incident, no police report was filed. The contact stated she continued driving to her destination. The contact stated when she stepped out of the vehicle, she noticed the bumper, the grill, and the Mercedes-Benz logo and bracket were fractured. The contact took the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the brake pads, the rotors, the bumper, the Mercedes-Benz logo, and the bracket to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact asked the dealer what was the cause of the failure but the dealer did not have a diagnosis for the failure. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 49,900.
This is a plug-in hybrid car and twice in the last two weeks, the car while in motion on the road, has randomly turned off the engine and lost power. The gas pedal is unresponsive and all the alarms on screen flash and I have to coast to a stop. Most recently it was on a busy road and I barely missed being rear-ended. This is an unsafe situation and has happened twice and the only thing which I can do is come to complete stop, turn off the car and restart it and the problem goes away.
Check Engine light came on. Upon running the scan from three different reputed repair shops, they show same P052e Positive Crankcase ventilation valve replace message. It first came two months back, reset the code but it still came up.
This is a known problem with The Mercedes cars from 2015 through 2018. The Service advisor said this is a know issue with this year, I asked can you do it for free because it is a Merc issue. He said he cannot do it. The cost for this repair is $2500 in Mercedes show room. These should be recalled and repair it for free for the customers.
Hello, I have 2016 Mercedes Benz c300(W205). Recently I got a Check Engine Light with P052E71. And the solution is to replace the Crankcase Ventilation Valve/Oil Separator, Intake Manifold. These parts are positioned on the right side bottom of the engine. It was a labor intensive work which required to remove multiple parts to gain access to the oil Separator. Considering the Issue Persists from W205 and Mercedes Benz has not done anything to rectify it, the cost is actually burdened upon the customer.
P052E emissions code
While driving the check engine light came on. The inside of the car started to smell like gas. A diagnostic check was performed at the Mercedes dealership and it was determined that there were 2 faults: low boost signal & ME control unit this was due to oil leaking from the crankcase vent line through the engine wiring harness and into the ME (engine module).
The contact owns a 2016 Mercedes-Benz C300. The contact stated that after turning off the vehicle and locking the doors; after a while, the vehicle would independently unlock the doors and then start up without driver input. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 43,000.
After locking car and walking away, engine starts, lights go on, and car doors become unlocked.
Failure in the performance of the Crankcase Ventilation Regulator valve, research online indicates this is a very common issue especially in w205s. Mercedes has omitted this from their gasoline powered, emissions control warranty, but is listed under the BLUtech/ Diesel warranty. The car will fail the emissions test, and Mercedes Models have a recurring problem with this part which is charged out of pocket once vehicle warranty is up.
When I go to put my car in reverse, or drive the gear control is malfunctioning and I’m afraid this can be deadly or cause serious injury.
I was driving my 2016 MB C300 on a clear sunny day (approx 85 degrees outside) going around 50 mph when out of nowhere my pano sunroof exploded (extremely terrifying sound might I add!)! I never open my sunroof and it did not have any chips or cracks at all so there is no explanation. Almost the entire sunroof shattered! Mind you I was driving on an open road (no trees, overpasses, bridges, etc). No cars in front of me and closest car was around 1/4 behind me. Shards of glass fell on top of me and went all over the interior of my car. I almost drove off the road and could have gotten glass in my eyes! After inspecting, it almost appears as if the glass exploded outwards. This is a major safety concern and needs to be addressed ASAP by Mercedes Benz before someone gets killed!
Check engine light and error code P052E - Positive Crankcase Ventilation regulator Valve Performance. Within a year of having the same error code repaired using warranty, I'm again getting the same error code. This is a very expensive repair costing upwards of $2000 as per dealer and I'm having to do this repair again. This should be some kind of manufacturing defect and needs to be recalled.
exterior fixed front roof panel cracking and causes potential roadway dangerous situation if pulls off roof while driving
- CRANK CASE VENT VALVE malfunctioned, it was available for inspection upon request with fee - It made oil burning smell - The problem has been confirmed by a dealer and replaced with an expensive fee - Engine check light was on
The vehicle lost power on the Freeway, coasted the off-ramp, and came to a stop, the dealership after describing the issue said that it sounded like a bad piston. Said they have had a couple come in with the same problem. Their diagnosis was a bad piston a day later. The mileage is less than 50,000 miles and the car was driven daily to work 4 miles each way. There were no warnings or symptoms of failure prior to happening. The warranty on the vehicle has expired on 7/1/2021
The contact owns a 2016 Mercedes-Benz C300. The contact stated the sunroof failed to close and was stuck open. The vehicle was taken to dealer and was diagnosed that the sunroof rail, motor and rods needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated while driving at 15-20 MPH, she noticed that the sunroof was lifting up. The contact decreased her speed to 10-15 MPH and moved to the shoulder of the road. The contact stated that sunroof flew off and landed on the ground. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle would be repaired at her own expense. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist as the vehicle was out of warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 82,000. The VIN was not available.
Check engine light Crankcase ventilation valve failure Mercedes dealer diagnostic
Gas smell while driving.Not reported
Around the 58,000 mile mark my check engine light on my 2016 Mercedes C300 4MATIC came on . I checked the gas cap, as that can set off the check engine light, and the check engine light went off the next day. 3 days later the check engine light comes on again, so I repeated the steps of taking the gas cap off and putting back on. The light did not go off the next day. 5 days later the light goes off again. This happened several times over a span of 2-3 weeks. I then take my car to be checked with an OBD-II Scanner. It read off every time the check engine light had been on, which was several times. The error code the scanner displayed was "P052E" and a description of "Positive Crankcase Ventilation Regulator Valve Performance". It was the same code multiple times. At this point I did a little research to see if this was something I could repair. While researching the issue, I found that case after case of the very same issue was being reported by owners of cars like mine. I then came across a post that said they had reported the issue to NHTSA and was told that it was such a widespread issue that if "A few more cars are reported to have this issue then a recall would potentially be issued because of the amount of cars that are having the exact same issue at very similar mileages, and it is a very expensive repair. I just feel that this is too common of a problem by the same cars, at the same mileages from the same Manufacturer.
P052e positive crankcase ventilation
Fuel leak from fuel lines from high pressure fuel pump. This is a common problem for C300s from 2015 to 2019, especially in cold weather. Fumes in cabin and fire risk in engine compartment.
My vehicle: (1) smells of gasoline through the vents. The smell of gasoline is SO STRONG that I have had to pull over and get out of the vehicle. My car has 104,000 miles on it. Not a lot of miles for a 2016. There are NO warning lights on indicating a problem with the vehicle. (2) The silver trim/coating that covers the window buttons and around the entire dashboard has bubbled overnight and is flaking off. It constantly cuts fingers and arms. (3) Approximately 5 months ago the headliner in the car started buckling.
The system that failed is the rear backup camera. The dash screen becomes black after initiating the car into reverse. The screen also glitches green and other times black. I have also received a “no camera” circle behind my rear backup camera with the 360 degree camera. I cannot use my rear backup camera as designed because of the issue. Even putting the vehicle back in park and then back to reverse does not remove the issue. This has happened on multiple occasions just this week. This started this week in my car. 1/21/2022 was the first time it happened. It has happened every day since and multiple times. I have photos and videos of the issue. The photos are attached to this report of the safety issue. I am unable to upload the video but can send upon request to an email.
With cold weather most w205 Mercedes, and specifically the one I have which is a C300 2016 starts having a strong Gas smell when I start the car at cold, and with the cold weather, the smell is getting stronger. There is already a class action going on in a different state concerning that issue, and it is probably a major and safety concern issue in those cars as a hose is a leaking fuel whenever the weather is cold. I ried with the dealership and they said no recall or anything for that issue yet.
Mercedes-Benz comes with ECO Start/Stop feature. This feature automatically activates when you start the vehicle and have your seat belt fastened with the door closed. When this function is activated, your vehicle’s engine will shut off when you are at a complete stop, like at a stoplight or in standstill traffic. Once it’s time to start moving again, the vehicle’s engine will automatically restart as soon as you lift your foot off the brake. Randomly experiencing an issue with this feature, vehicle will not restart or it will shutdown in the middle of the road, on the busy road or freeway, it is very unsafe or dangerous. In last two years, we experienced this issue for at least 10 times, at least 5 times vehicle was towed to Mercedes Benz service center in Pleasanton, CA. They replaced the battery, starter, relay but issue still exists and service center also do not have any clue on how to resolve this issue. Reported this issue to Mercedes Benz Customer Support but response has not been favorable. I am not the only one facing this issue, several people reported this issue on online blogs, online channels and discussion boards. Mercedes Benz is ignoring the issue and not serious on addressing it. I request NTSB to investigate this issue, it is risky and dangerous. I personally had couple of close calls with other vehicles rear ending, and I am sure others must have found in this situation. Appreciate your help. Thanks, [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
2016 MB 300 C, AWD at 87000 miles started giving gas fuel smell when parked in our garage after driving. I took to a local Foreign Car Repair facility and they found a fuel leak at the fuel injector pump. The mechanic changed the Fuel Injector Pump (Bosch) at a total cost of $745.31. Since the change in the pump, the smell has stopped and I feel safe. Who is responsible to reimburse this cost to me?
Car lost all throtle on the highway, and when pressed on gas pedal nothing would happen. A death trap. it was very dangerous and car behind me almost hit me. Happened many times and the dealer could not fix it. Car just went out of warranty couple months ago
Steering wheel will not adjust up and down, only in and out, Not correct position for driving safely.
The part attaching the sunroof to the rails comes off and could cause the sunroof to come detached.
My car's stationary roof panel (part no. 205-780-00-22) that's located between the windshield and the panoramic sunroof started to come off while driving. The panel started to flick off and I had to tape it temporarily, so it doesn't fly off when driving. It looks like the adhesive holding the panel gave out on the driver’s side. Panel was previously replaced at Mercedes Benz of Tysons Corner.
Panoramic Sunroof deterioration, which caused the sunroof to get stuck due to fragments in the sliding area. Sunroof unstable. Unable to ride with it open and makes a whistling sound when closed.
while driving on a highway a part of my roof panoramic fell risking my life and other people's life, I then sent an email to Mercedes Benz and they told me that this part is a subject of a recall. I took the car for two days and they told me that the part is not available for the moment and they need to order it from Germany with no ETA but at least 2 weeks. I asked them if I can safely drive without that part and they said it is ok. Yesterday while driving under light rain, water went in the car through the roof and through the missing part place onto the dashboard. And suddenly the panoramic roof opened alone and did not want to close while I was driving on the highway under the rain. I had to leave my car with an open roof. This roof issue is a repercussion of that item subject of the recall in addition to telling me that driving was safe without that part and turned out to be unsafe. I sent Mercedes Benz an email asking to fix all this mess for free and still waiting for an answer! Much appreciated, Ali
I bought a car that had an light accident and turns out to be missing the collision sensor in addition to bad battery that i had to change and had issues with recoding the airbags which are not working now.
The contact owns a 2016 Mercedes-Benz C300. The contact stated while driving approximately 50 mph, an abnormal sound was heard as a section of the glass roof panel detached from the roof of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the missing panel. The cause of the failure was not determined. The contact later received notification of NHTSA campaign number 21V197000 (Structure) however, the part to do the recall repair was not available. The local dealer was contacted, and it was confirmed that the part was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 31,000. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

The steering wheel won’t go up or down The auxiliary ratidator keeps getting damaged from road debris my 3 time replacing it
Steering failed at low speeds. Something broke. Caused me to lose complete steering. Very scary and dangerous
The panoramic sunroof does not properly seal to car, allowing the glass to detach and fall from the vehicle during operation and likely to impair the operator during use. Furthermore, without properly sealing the internal cabin is exposed to the environment (i.e. rain, snow, ect.) causing further damage to the internal safety and electrical features.
Panoramic sunroof exploded spontaneously while driving. There was no previous warning. Glass shattered onto driver and passenger. The loud sound and glass shattering onto us could have caused self injury or accident to occur. Auto insurance was notified at time of incident. Vehicle was taken to Mercedes benz dealership for repair.
PLASTIC PANEL BETWEEN WINDSHIELD AND PANORAMIC SUNROOF DETACHES. ADHESIVE DEGRADES OVER TIME CAUSING PANEL TO NOT BOND WITH THE BODY.
SUNROOF WILL NOT OPEN OR CLOSE, THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE! SUNROOF IS CURRENTLY OPEN. ALSO, DEFROST DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY DURING SEVERE WEATHER CONDITIONS. WHEN IT IS RAINING, MY WINDOWS WILL NOT UNFOG, THIS IS DANGEROUS AND MAY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT!
A STRONG FUEL ODOR COMING FROM THE CAR, WE TRIED TO GET THE DEALER TO REPAIR IT UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY SAID, OVER FUELING WAS CAUSING IT, HOWEVER WITH THE TANK HALF FULL IT DOES STILL SMELL A LOT LIKE GAS, A STRONG ODOR YOU CAN SMELL IT OUTSIDE, THEY DON'T WANT TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY ON IT, AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRED THEY CAME UP SAYING SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH MY FUEL SYSTEM THAT NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED BUT ITS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY, THERE ARE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS BUT THEY WANT PEOPLE TO PAY FOR THIS, WE ARE AFRAID THIS COULD START A FIRE WHILE DRIVING, OR EVEN WORSE BURN MY HOUSE DOWN
TALK TO DEALER VEHICLE HAS FUEL LINE LEAK NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY JUST PURCHASED VEHICLE WITHIN 30 DAYS OF NOTICING THIS ISSUE AND I BELIEVE IT SHOULD BE RECALLED SAFETY ISSUES FUEL SMELL AND COULD CAUSE FIRE
THERE IS A RAW FUEL SMELL INSIDE THE CABIN OF THE CAR WHEN DRIVING. I LOOKED ONLINE AND FOUND THAT THERE IS A LAWSUIT AGAINST MERCEDES-BENZ FOR FAULTY FUEL LINES THAT THEY ARE REFUSING TO REPAIR. I AM HAVING THE SAME ISSUES WITH THE FUEL LINES AS COUNTLESS OTHER PEOPLE HAVE WHERE THE RUBBER HOSES ARE FAILING PREMATURELY. I HAVE A 2016 C300 WITH ONLY 37,100 MILES ON IT THAT IS KEPT UP ON AND THE DEALERSHIP IS SAYING THAT THE FUEL LINES ARE TYPICAL WEAR ITEMS AND THAT THE CPO WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER THE REPAIR. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS IT COULD CAUSE A FIRE AND LEAKING FUEL INTO THE ENVIRONMENT AND FUEL LINES SHOULD NOT NEED TO BE REPLACED ALREADY.
MY 2016 C300 4MATIC, WHICH HAS BEEN SERVICED EXCEPTIONALLY WELL, TURNED 57,000 MILES (7K MILES OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY), HAD THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURN ON. I WENT TO MY MECHANIC, WHO HAS A STATE OF THE ART DIAGNOSTIC UNIT, AND IT WAS DIAGNOSED AS CODE P052E WHICH MEANS THAT THE CRANKCASE VENTILATION REGULATOR VALVE INCLUDING THE FUEL RAIL NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. MERCEDES HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS BEING A MAJOR PROBLEM AS THEY MODIFIED ONE OF THE PARTS. MY DEALERSHIP QUOTED ME OVER $ 2100.00 TO FIX IT AND DEEMED IT NOT COVERED BY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. I HAVE GONE ONLINE TO SEVERAL MERCEDES BENZ FORUMS AND HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN WITH THIS PART FAILING AROUND 52K MARK. SINCE MERCEDES KNEW ABOUT THIS - ISSUED AN IMPROVED PART TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE ONE - NHTSA SHOULD MANDATE A RECALL. THIS IS NOT SOME SIMPLE DYI MATTER. IT IS A COMPLICATED REPAIR CONSUMING MANY HOURS. IT IS WRONG THAT DRIVING THIS, WITH THIS CODE, COULD LITERALLY KILL YOU. I IMPLORE NHTSA TO MANDATE A RECALL BASED ON THE FACTS SPECIFIED HEREIN. BY THE WAY I HAVE A 1999 ML320 THAT I HAVE METICULOUSLY MAINTAINED AND DRIVES PERFECT AND I HAVE OWNED MANY OTHER MERCEDES BENZ. I AM 58 YEARS OLD AND I HAVE NEVER FILED A COMPLAINT WITH NHTSA BEFORE. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS MATTER. PLEASE HELP
PANORAMIC SUNROOF IS LOOSE NOT PROPERLY BONDED.

RECURRING ISSUE OF SEVERE PULSATION WHEN BRAKING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. PULSATION EXACERBATED BY REPEATED STOPPING (RED LIGHTS) OR SLOWING FROM HIGH SPEEDS (FREEWAY EXIT RAMPS). THE PROBLEM MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO MAINTAIN PROPER CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO USE MIRRORS DUE TO SHAKING. I HAVE DRIVEN THE VEHICLE LESS THAN 40,000 MILES AND HAVE NEEDED TO REPLACE THE ROTORS TWICE DUE TO THIS ISSUE.

2016 C300 4MATIC AT ABOUT 50K MILES, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THEN AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY THE CAR JUST STOPPED ACCELERATING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY AND HAD TO TAKE MY CAR TO THE SIDE AND TOWED IT TO THE DEALER IN WEST COVINA. LUCKILY THERE WAS NO ONE ON THE FREEWAY SINCE IT WAS EARLY SUNDAY MORNING. DEALER IS NOW SAYING THE CAR MIGHT NEED ENGINE REPLACEMENT WHICH WILL COST ME $20K BUT THEY WANT $3000 TO DO A TEAR DOWN TO MAKE SURE. OPENED A CASE WITH THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE BUT THEY SAID THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT SINCE THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY. I AM INCREDIBLY UPSET WITH MERCEDES BENZ - I HAVE NOT USED THE CAR THAT MUCH AND MAINTAINED IT MYSELF ACCORDING TO THEIR MAINTENANCE BOOKLETS. I BELIEVE THIS IS AN ENGINE DEFECT PROBLEM THAT MERCEDES NEEDS TO TAKE CARE OF.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, I HEARD A LOUD NOISE THAT, ON FIRST IMPRESSION, LED ME TO BELIEVE SOMEONE FIRED A GUNSHOT AT AND STRUCK MY VEHICLE. UPON LOOKING UP, I IMMEDIATELY NOTICED IT WAS NOT A GUNSHOT BUT INSTEAD THE GLASS TO THE FRONT PORTION OF MY PANORAMIC SUNROOF HAD SPONTANEOUSLY SHATTERED AND FLEW COMPLETELY OFF THE VEHICLE. THIS FLYING GLASS FLEW DIRECTLY BACKWARDS AND COULD HAVE POSED A DEADLY RESULT FOR THE NUMEROUS DRIVERS TRAVELING BEHIND ME. THERE WERE NO FLYING OBJECTS OR OTHER DANGEROUS INSTRUMENTS THAT STRUCK THE VEHICLE BUT THE SUNROOF SPONTANEOUSLY, ON ITS OWN, SHATTERED AND COMPLETELY DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. UPON SUBSEQUENT ONLINE INVESTIGATION, I LEARNED THIS VERY ISSUE HAS BEEN EXPERIENCED BY OTHER MERCEDES BENZ DRIVERS, WITH THE SUNROOFS SPONTANEOUSLY SHATTERING AND FLYING OFF. DESPITE PURCHASING A EXTENSIVE WARRANTY AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE, BODY WORK, INCLUSIVE OF GLASS REPLACEMENT, IS NOT COVERED. CONSEQUENTLY, I WAS FORCED TO FILE AN AUTO INSURANCE CLAIM, WHICH REQUIRED AN IMMEDIATE $500 DEDUCTIBLE TO BE PAID TO ENABLE THE REPAIR COMPANY TO ORDER THE REPLACEMENT GLASS. THIS REOCCURRING ISSUE MOST CERTAINLY REQUIRES A RECALL FOR VEHICLES CONTAINING THIS PROBLEMATIC SUNROOF. IT IS NOT ONLY A DANGER TO THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE, BUT ALSO TO ALL OTHERS TRAVELING ON THE ROAD.
GAS SMELL COMING THROUGH THE VENTS STARTED OFF EVERY NOW AND THEN AND BECAME MORE FREQUENT. PULLED IT IN THE GARAGE AND THE GAS FUMES MADE THE TOTAL GARAGE SMELL. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT IS FUEL LINE, THAT SITS NEAR THE ENGINE. IT IS IN THE SHOP NOW. AFTER GOOGLING I SEE SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE WITH THIS CAR. THEY CANNOT TELL ME YET WHAT CAUSED THE PROBLEM, I AM WAITING TO HEAR THAT
THERE WAS AN ODOR OF FUEL INSIDE THE CABIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, AND THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS AN STRONG ODOR OF FUEL WHEN HE LIFTED THE HOOD AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A MERCEDES DEALER BECAUSE HE WAS NOT CERTIFIED TO SERVICE THE VEHICLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 MERCEDES BENZ C300. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN SHE STARTED THE VEHICLE, THERE WAS AN ODOR OF FUEL INSIDE THE CABIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, AND THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL ODOR OF FUEL WHEN HE LIFTED THE HOOD AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A MERCEDES DEALER BECAUSE HE WAS NOT CERTIFIED TO SERVICE THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT CALLED ATLANTA CLASSIC CARS (1705 BOGGS RD NW, DULUTH, GA 30096) AND INFORMED THEM OF THE FAILURE AND SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 86,000. ## VIN PASSED ## MERCEDES-BENZ C300 2016 ##
FRONT GLASS PANEL ON PANORAMA ROOF DETACHED WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY ON A STRAIGHT SEGMENT AND FLEW OFF. I IT APPEARS THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH ADHESION THAT IS USED TO SECURE AND THERE ARE A NUMBER OF MERCEDES MODELS WITH PANORAMA ROOFS OF VARIOUS YEARS ALL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. IT COST OVER $2000 IN DEALER REPAIR AND REPLACEMENTS.
I PURCHASED MY MB C300 USED CERTIFIED AND HAD NOTICED A FUEL SMELL. I SPOKE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT WAS NORMAL WITH MB AND NOTHING TO BE CONCERNED WITH. I HAVE NOW HAD THE CAR FOR ABOUT 5 MONTHS AND TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL MB DEALERSHIP TO FIND OUT WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE SMELL AND THEY SAID IT WAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS MAKE MODEL AND YEAR AND IT IS NOTHING THAT WILL CAUSE HARM.WELL IT IS NOW COLD OUTSIDE AND THE MORE I USE MY HEAT THE MORE THE SMELL COMES.I CAN LITERALLY SMELL GAS IN MY HOUSE FROM THE CAR JUST BEING (NOT ON OR RUNNING) IN MY ATTACHED GARAGE. THIS IS DEFINITELY A HEALTH ISSUE BECAUSE I FEEL LIKE I MAY PASS OUT IF I STAY TOO LONG IN THE CAR WITH THE HEAT ON. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS BESIDES BEING TOLD IT'S A KNOWN ISSUE. IF ITS WIDELY KNOWN WHY HAS THERE NOT BEEN A RECALL ON IT YET. I ALSO DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY MY WARRANTY /EXTENDED WARRANTY DOES NOT APPLY TO THIS
GLASS PIECE IN FRONT OF SUNROOF OF PANORAMA ROOF FLEW DETACHED AND FLEW OFF WHILE DRIVING. I WAS DRIVING ON FREEWAY ABOUT 80 MILES PER HOUR ON A STRAIGHT STRETCH. IT WAS NOT HIT BY ANYTHING. JUST THE WIND. COST TO REPAIR $2178 AT MB AUTHORIZED DEALER.
THE PANORAMIC SUNROOF SLIDING CLIPS ARE PLASTIC AND BREAK. WHILE GOING DOWN THE ROAD THE ROOF LIFTED WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO CLOSE IT. THE PLASTIC CLIPS BROKE THAT SECURE THE SLIDE RAIL AND GLASS TOGETHER.
ON OCTOBER 15, 2019 AND ON JULY 1, 2020 THE GLASS PANEL WHICH IS LOCATED IN FRONT OF THE PANORAMIC SUNROOF BLEW OFF THE CAR WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS PIECE OF GLASS DOES NOT MOVE AND BECAME A DANGEROUS PROJECTILE ENDANGERING OTHER VEHICLES. I WOULD GUESS THE GLUE IS NOT BONDING PROPERLY
I WASN'T SPEEDING BUT I DID HIT MY BRAKES BECAUSE I WAS ABOUT TO MISS MY EXIT AND MY AIR BAG JUST EXPLODED.
HEARD SOMETHING CRACK AND THE FOUND LATER PLASTIC PIECES OF THE SHOE ON THE RIGHT SIDE ON THE SUNROOF IN THE RAIL OF THE SUNROOF. IT WAS THE RAIL GUIDE SHOE. THE MECHANIC ADVISED ME THE ENTIRE ROOF WOULD NEED TO COME UP, INCLUDING HEADLINER. HE ALSO SAID YOU'D NEED TO REPLACE RAILS, WHICH SOUNDS A BIT MUCH FOR A PLASTIC SHOE. I AGREED, IT'S RIDICULOUS THAT THESE ARE MADE OF PLASTIC. 4 THOUSAND DOLLARS TO FIX IT. I BEEN SEEING A LOT PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM.
THE VEHICLE HAS A PANORAMIC SUNROOF AND I HAD OPENED THE ROOF WHILE I WAS PARKED AND WHEN I STARTED DRIVING SOMETHING POPPED AND THE FRONT OF THE SUNROOF LIFTED A LITTLE CAUSING IT TO IT THE BACK GLASS PORTION OF THE PANORAMIC ROOF. I PULLED OVER TO CHECK IT OUT AND SAW THE THE FRONT GUIDES WERE BROKEN/DETATCHED. I HAD TO FIND A WAY TO FORCE THE SUNROOF TO CLOSE. I WAS ONLY GOING AROUND 25 MPH WHEN THE GUIDES GAVE UP. IF I WOULD'VE BEEN GOING FASTER, THE FORCE WOULD HAVE BROKEN THE BACK GLASS.
I WAS DRIVING THEN THE STARTED BEEN HARD NOW IT'S SAYING POWER STEERING MALFUNCTION
THERE IS A VERY STRONG GAS SMELL WHEN THE HEAT AND/OR DEFROSTER IS TURNED ON. THE HIGHER THE HEAT IS TURNED UP'THE HIGHER THE GAS SMELLS. THE SMELL LINGERS WHEN THE CAR IS NOT RUNNING/CUT-OFF. I HAVE NOTICED THAT THE STRONG SMELL OF GAS DOES NOT OCCUR WHEN THE AIR IS TURNED ON'IT ONLY SMELLS WHEN THE HEAT IS TURNED ON. IT IS SO STRONG'IT WOULD LITERALLY KNOCK YOU OUT.

AS PER THIS RECALL LISTED 2016 MERCEDES-BENZ C300, C450 AMG 4MATIC RECALLED FOR PANORAMIC SUNROOF DEFECT. I BOUGHT THIS CAR AS A CERTIFIED USED MODEL FROM A MERCEDES DEALERSHIP AND WHILE DRIVING THE PANORAMIC SUNROOF ATTEMPTED TO STAND UP VERTICALLY BUT I QUICKLY CAUGHT IT. I PULLED OVER AND MANAGED TO GET IT TO CLOSE AND LATCH AND TOOK IT TO THE DEALER NAMED IN THE REPAIR ESTIMATE. I PROVIDED THEM WITH THE PLASTIC PIECES SHOWN IN THE PICTURE THAT I FOUND BROKEN INSIDE THE FRAME AND THEY WOULD NOT REMEDY THE DEFECT WITHOUT A CHARGE OF OVER $3200 WHICH INCLUDED PARTS THAT ARE NOT MALFUNCTIONING. INSTEAD I WAS SENT BACK OUT WITH THE VEHICLE IN THE SAME CONDITION
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 MERCEDES BENZ C300. THE CONTACT STATED UPON ENTERING THE VEHICLE, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL FUEL ODOR IN THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PARK PLACE MOTORCARS MERCEDES-BENZ GRAPEVINE LOCATED AT (1300 TEXAN TRAIL, GRAPEVINE, TX 76051) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE HIGH-PRESSURE FUEL LINES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,000.
FUEL SMELL IN CABIN - FUEL LEAK IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT. FROM DEALER INVOICE: FOUND FUEL LINE LEAKING FROM RUBBER LINE THAT COMES FROM BELL HOUSING FUEL LINE CONNECTOR TO HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP ON ENGINE HEAD.. R AND R BATTERY GROUND.. R AND R BELLY PANELS.. DEPRESSURIZE FUEL SYSTEM.. REPLACED RUBBER FUEL LINE THAT COMES FROM BELL HOUSING FUEL LINE CONNECTOR TO HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP ON ENGINE HEAD.. CLEANED AWAY CONTRAST SPRAY AND TEST DROVE AGAIN,, PROBLEM IS RESOLVED.
THE CAR HAS A STRONG GAS SMELL INSIDE THE CABIN AFTER FIRST START COLD,AND ALSO SSECOND COLD START. THE PASSENGER AIR BAG ON MESSAGE CONSTANTLY COMES ON.
FUEL LINE LEAK, SMELLS LIKE GASOLINE WHEN HEATER IS TURNED ON.
ON FOUR OCCASIONS, THE ELECTRONIC DASHBOARD GOES COMPLETELY BLACK AND WILL STAY THAT WAY FOR QUITE SOMETIME. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT THE VEHICLE IS 'DOWNLOADING SOFTWARE', BUT THIS HAS HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY WITHOUT ANY WARNING FROM M-B. IT HAPPENS AFTER I PARK IT AND THEN RESTARTED IT.
HOSE CLAMPS ATTACHING THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL LINE LEADING FROM THE FIREWALL-MOUNTED FUEL PUMP TO THE CENTRAL FUEL RAIL FAILED TO MAINTAIN A TIGHT CONNECTION. THIS LEADS TO FUEL LEAKING PAST THE HOSE CLAMP CONNECTION INTO THE OPEN ENGINE COMPARTMENT DURING COLD WEATHER (SUB-40 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT) WHILE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING. WHEN THE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT RISES, EITHER BY ENVIRONMENT OR BY HEAT GENERATED FROM THE ENGINE, THE FUEL LEAK SUBSIDES. SYMPTOMS WHEN THIS OCCURS ARE A VERY STRONG FUEL SMELL IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT AND ALSO, UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, OBSERVATION OF LIQUID FUEL POOLING ON THE TOP SIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT UNDER TRAY. INTERNET RESEARCH ALSO INDICATE THAT THIS IS A FAIRLY WIDESPREAD PROBLEM AFFECTING AT LEAST 2015-16 W205 MODEL VEHICLES, AND THAT MULTIPLE MERCEDES-BENZ DEALERSHIPS IN THE UNITED STATES HAVE COMMUNICATED VERBALLY TO OTHER CUSTOMERS THAT THIS IS A "KNOWN ISSUE".

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE ODOR RETURNED THE FOLLOWING DAY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 MERCEDES BENZ C300. THE CONTACT WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL BY AMBULANCE AND TREATED FOR A FRACTURED RIGHT WRIST AND A FRACTURED LEFT CLAVICLE, HEAD INJURIES, AND NECK INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN IMPOUND LOT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. IN FEBRUARY 2019 THE C300 ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS A BAD CATALYTIC CONVERTOR, AND THE DEALER TOOK THREE DAYS TO REPAIR IT. THREE WEEKS LATER IN MARCH 2019, WHILE DRIVING 25 MILES PER HOUR STRAIGHT ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET THE CAR SHUT OFF WITHOUT A SOUND, ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER LIT UP, AND THE CAR COASTED TO A STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I TRIE TO RESTART THE CAR, THE STARTER MADE NOISE BUT THE ENGINE WOULD NOT TURN OVER. I CALLED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND DID THE THREE TIME LOCK AND UNLOCK ROUTINE, AND THE CAR WOULD NOT START. AFTER TOWING THE CAR BACK TO THE SAME DEALER, THEY TOLD ME THE CAR WAS SHOWING NO CODES, THE ISSUE COULD NOT BE REPLICATED AND THE CAR SHOULD BE FINE TO DRIVE AGAIN! I'M NOW AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE, AND THE DEALER IS REFUSING TO FIX IT.
TAKATA RECALL - HAVE TWO RECALLS ON THIS AUTOMOBILE. MERCEDES DEALERSHIP SAID THEY CANNOT REPLACE. WHAT ARE OPTIONS. HAVE BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE INVOLVED.
SINCE I BOUGHT THE MY 2016 C450 AMG IN 2016 BRAND NEW I STARTED HAVING ISSUES WITH THE RIMS A MONTH LATER AFTER PURCHASING THE CAR. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS A CRACKED RIM ,I RESPONDED BY LETTING THEM KNOW I NEVER RAN OVER ANY POTHOLES.THE RIM WAS REPAIRED, BUT A MONTH LATER AGAIN THE PROBLEM ACCURRED.MY CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOR THE SAME PROBLEM EVERY OTHER MONTH FOR THE SAME PROBLEM ON EACH OF MY TIRES ,ALL OF MY TIRES HAVE BEEN CRACKED WITHOUT ME RUNNING INTO POTHOLES.JUST YESTERDAY I RECEIVED MY CAR BACK FROM SERVICE AFTER A WEEK OF THEM HAVING IT FOR A CRACKED RIM AGAIN ON THE FRONT RIGHT SIDE.WHEN I LEFT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THE TIRE PRESSURE WAS AT 36 PERCENT THIS MORNING ALL THE TIRES ARE AT THEIR NORMAL PRESSURE EXCEPT THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE IT'S AT 30 PERCENT. IT IS LOSING AIR AGAIN. MY CAR HAS BEEN TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OVER 15 TIME FOR PROBLEMS WITH CRACK RIMS WITHOUT ME RUNNING INTO POTHOLES. IS THERE A MANUFACTURING PROBLEM WITH THE RIMS?
THERE'S A CONSTANT GAS SMELL IN MY CAR. THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMED IT WAS A LEAK TWICE, BUT THAT CAN'T BE THE PROBLEM BECAUSE IT STILL CARRIES THE SMELL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 MERCEDES-BENZ C300. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, A LOUD NOISE SUDDENLY OCCURRED. THE DRIVER PULLED OVER AND DISCOVERED THAT THE SUN ROOF HAD ERRONEOUSLY SHATTERED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE MERCEDES-BENZ OF LITTLETON (8070 SOUTH BROADWAY, LITTLETON, CO) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SUN ROOF WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,000.
IN ADDITION TO A STRONG, NOXIOUS, MOLDY ODOR, VEHICLE'S FRONT WINDSHIELD FOGS OVER SO TOTALLY THAT IT BECOMES DANGEROUS IN HIGHWAY DRIVING. THE HVAC/CLIMATE-CONTROL SYSTEM'S DEFROSTER IS UNABLE TO CLEAR MORE THAN THE BOTTOM FEW INCHES OF THE WINDSHIELD: THE ONLY WAY I CAN SEE THROUGH IT IS TO WIPE AWAY THE FOG WITH MY HAND. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION BUT PERSISTS WHEN IT IS STATIONARY. THIS HAPPENS IN ALMOST ANY WEATHER, BUT ESPECIALLY IF THERE IS MOISTURE IN THE AIR(FOG, RAIN).
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE 405 FREEWAY VEHICLE LOST POWER STEERING ASSIST AT 65MPH, VEHICLE STEERING WAS VERY HARD TO STEER & STEERING WHEEL LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH HAD TO FIGHT WITH THE STEERING TO PULL THE VEHICLE OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY. TRY TO RESTART VEHICLE ALL LIGHT CAME ON NO-START. BATTERY CABLE HAD TO BE REMOVED WAIT 30MIN AND VEHICLE RESTARTED. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER IN BEVERLY HILLS, DEALER DIAGNOSIS AND FOUND SOME DTC'S CODES AND RESET AND RETURN VEHICLE
I BOUGHT MY 2016 MERCEDES C63S AMG FROM A DEALER IN EDMOND, OKLAHOMA (JACKIE COOPER BMW) AND THEY SOLD ME THE CAR WITH LESS THAN 10% TREAD LEFT ON THE TIRES. SHORTLY AFTER THE PURCHASE I CALLED THE DEALER FOR ASSISTANCE AND THEY FLAT OUT DENIED ANY WRONG DOING. THEY CLAIMED THEY DID A "RIGOROUS INSPECTION" BUT SOMEHOW THE TIRES THAT WERE DOWN TO THEIR WEAR BARS PASSED IT. TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE, I PURCHASED A $4100 TIRE/WHEEL PACKAGE FROM THEM AND THEY ALSO HAVE NOT ACTIVATED THE SERVICE (AFTER 23 DAYS OF PURCHASE) SO I CANNOT GET NEW TIRES PUT ON WITHOUT PAYING AN EXTRA $1200 OUT OF POCKET FOR THE HIGH PERFORMANCE TIRES THAT THE CAR REQUIRES. MANAGEMENT HAS NOT RETURNED ANY OF THE CALLS & THE SALES AGENT (BRYAN LEONARD) ALSO HAVE NOT BEEN VERY HELPFUL. NEARLY A MONTH LATER AFTER THE PURCHASE THE CAR IS STILL SITTING IN THE GARAGE WITH TWO BUSTED TIRES & NO WAY TO REPLACE THEM UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE THE DEALER IS REFUSING TO EXPEDITE THE WARRANTY ACTIVATION. I FINALLY GOT TIRED OF WAITING SO I TOOK THE HIT FOR THE FRONT TWO TIRES AND PAID A MOBILE SERVICE TO COME OUT AND REPLACE THEM. THE DEALER IS REFUSING TO REIMBURSING ME FOR THOSE 2 & ALSO REFUSING TO ACTIVATE THE WARRANTY SERVICE IN A TIMELY MANNER. I'VE ATTACHED THE PICTURES OF THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT TIRE THAT IS ON IT'S LAST THREAD & ALSO THE RECEIPT FOR THE FRONT TWO THAT I REPLACED OUT OF POCKET. IT'S DECEMBER 21ST NOW AND STILL NO ACTIVATION ON THE WARRANTY. I'VE NEVER FELT A BIGGER BAIT & SWITCH FROM A DEALER BEFORE.

PANORAMIC SUNROOF SHATTERED WHILE DRIVING NORMALLY IN HIGHWAY, SHARDS OF GLASS FROM THE SUNROOF ALSO DAMAGED/CHIPPED REAR PART OF THE CAR. CAUSE UNKNOWN. VEHICLE WAS NOT INVOLVED IN COLLISION.
I HAD BEEN DRIVING FOR 5-7 MINUTES I WAS GOING DOWN A SLIGHT INCLINE ON A RURAL ROAD AND TOOK A RIGHT HAND TURN. THE DRIVER'S DOOR OPENED AND A RED WARNING LIGHT CAME UP ON THE DASH. I IMMEDIATELY APPLIED THE BRAKES TO STOP MY VEHICLE AND LOOKED AT THE DOOR. I NOTICED THAT THE DOOR LOCK BUTTON WAS STILL DOWN. I WAS ABLE TO PULL THE DOOR CLOSED. MY SON WAS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AND WITNESSED THIS, WE WERE SHOCKED TO SAY THE LEAST. CARRIAGE HOUSE OF NEW LONDON 488 COLMAN STREET, NEW LONDON CT 06320 PH# 860-447-3361 PICKED UP MY CAR AND RAN DIAGNOSTICS THEY SAID THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG. THE INVOICE NUMBER ASSOCIATED WITH THAT SERVICE CALL IS 79121
THE TIRES SUPPLIED ON THIS CAR ARE UNSUITABLE FOR INTENDED USE. LOW PROFILE TIRES ARE EASILY DAMAGED BY POTHOLES (WE LIVE IN CHICAGO) AND WITHOUT CONSTANT INSPECTION FOR "BUBBLES" PRESENT A HAZARD. THIS CAR IS TWO YEARS OLD WITH 8800 MILES ON IT AND IS ON IT'S 4TH FRONT TIRE. IN AS THIS IS HOW THE CAR COMES, AND THE DEALER AS ACKNOWLEDGED THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THEY HAVE CLEARLY SOLD TIRES THAT ARE IN THE LONG RUN NOT SAFE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 MERCEDES-BENZ C450. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FRONT AND REAR PASSENGER TIRES WERE DEFLATING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH AND THE PANORAMIC SUNROOF ON MY MERCEDES C300 EXPLODED. I SAY "EXPLODED" BECAUSE NOTHING STRUCK THE GLASS AND MOST OF THE GLASS BLEW OUT AND OFF THE CAR, NOT IN. THE SUNROOF WAS CLOSED AT THE TIME, SO THERE WAS NO WIND PRESSURE. AFTER I STOPPED, YOU CAN EVEN SEE WHERE THE GLASS REMAINING IS STICKING UP, NOT DOWN. THE SHADE WAS OPEN SO GLASS DID FALL INTO MY CAR, CUTTING MY ARM. IF KIDS OR OTHERS WERE IN THE CAR, IT WOULD LIKELY HAVE CUT THEM OR COULD HAVE RESULTED IN GLASS DUST IN THEIR EYES, ETC. IT ALSO COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT BY SCARING ME BUT ALSO SINCE MUCH OF IT BLEW OFF MY CAR, IT PUT THE CARS BEHIND ME IN DANGER AND COULD HAVE CAUSED THEM TO CRASH. MERCEDES HAS NOT TAKEN RESPONSIBILITY OF THIS YET, BUT I HAVE BROUGHT THIS TO THEIR ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS ONLY A LITTLE OVER 1 YEAR OLD AND ONLY ABOUT 17,000 MILES ON IT. NO WAY SHOULD THIS HAVE HAPPENED. I HAVE MORE PICTURES, IF YOU WANT THEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 MERCEDES-BENZ C300. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 71 MPH, A KNOCKING SOUND WAS PRESENT COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO THRUST BACK AND FORTH AS IF IT WERE RUNNING OUT OF FUEL. ALSO, A BURNING ODOR WAS PRESENT BEFORE THE SPEED SUDDENLY REDUCED TO APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH. THE SPEED WOULD NOT INCREASE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE LOCAL DEALER (SMITH MOTORS IN HAVERHILL, MA) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE WAS FAULTY. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. AFTER THREE MONTHS AT THE DEALER, THE MOTOR WAS REPLACED TO REMEDY THE FAILURE. WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, A SCREECHING NOISE WAS PRESENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE BRAKE PADS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 354.
LEFT REAR SEAT BELT JAMMED UP, TRAPPING MY DISTRESSED 3 YEAR OLD SON. IT WAS NECESSARY TO PHYSICAL CUT THE SEATBELT IN ORDER TO FREE THE CHILD. MID SECTION OF THE SEATBELT CONTRAPTION WAS PULLING PRESSURE ON THE CHILD BODY.

WHEN TRAVELING AT SPEED OVER 65 , CAR WILL BEGIN SHAKING VIOLENTLY AND HESITATION OCCURS. THIS IS ERRATIC-3 INSTANCES. TERRIFYING! ANOTHER PROBLEM -STARTED CAR BEGAN HESITATING ,UNABLE TO GO OVER 30MPH AND SMELLED A BURNING ODOR. COULD NOT DRIVE CAR.THE CAR HAS BEEN CHECKED BY DEALER TWICE-NOTHING FOUND.
WHEN AT A RED LIGHT AND THE CAR IS IDLING, ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR JERKS FORWARD. IF THE BRAKE IS NOT ENGAGED HARD, I HAVE EXPERIENCED THE CAR FEELING LIKE IT WILL LUNGE FORWARD. THIS OCCURS EACH AND EVERY TIME I AM IDLING AT A RED LIGHT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 MERCEDES-BENZ C350E. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE'S AVERAGE MPG RANGED BETWEEN 25 TO 34 MPH. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE RECHARGED EVERY 11 MILES TO KEEP THE ELECTRIC CHARGE GOING ASSOCIATED WITH THE MPG. THE MANUFACTURER INDICATED 51 MPG ON THE STICKER AND IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL. THE CONTACT WAS WAITING FOR THE MANUFACTURER TO PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WHENEVER CAR IS PUT IN REVERSE, THERE IS A LOUD SCREECHING NOISE WHEN BACKING OUT.
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING HER CAR ON A PAVED, AND DRY, ROAD. SHE WAS FOLLOWING BEHIND A SUV, THAT APPLIED THE BRAKES ABRUPTLY. SHE HAD DIFFICULTY STOPPING HER CAR AND SHE WOUND UP HITTING THE SUV IN FRONT OF HER. WHILE THIS DOES SOUND UNUSUAL, IT IS FOR THIS CAR (2016 MERCEDES BENZ C300). THE SALESMAN TOLD US THAT THIS CAR WAS EQUIPPED WITH AN ANTI-COLLISION. SYSTEM CALLED "COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST PLUS". IT IS SUPPOSED TO ACTIVATE A LIGHT ON THE DASH. IF THE CAR GETS EVEN CLOSER YET, IT IS SUPPOSED GIVE AN AUDIBLE ALARM. IF THE DRIVER DOESN'T RESPOND AND THE CAR GETS EVEN CLOSER TO THE CAR IN FRONT, THE SYSTEM SHOULD DEPLOY THE BRAKING SYSTEM UNTIL THE DRIVER ENGAGES. EVEN IF THE DRIVER DOESN'T DEPLOY THE BRAKES, THE CAR IS SUPPOSED TO STOP BEFORE A COLLISION. IN OUR CAR, THIS SYSTEM DID NOT FUNCTION. THERE WAS NO LIGHT, NO AUDIBLE ALARM, AND NO DEPLOYMENT OF THE BRAKES. THE CAR WAS INVOLVED IN A REAR END COLLISION WITH A MAZDA CRV. SO FAR, MERCEDES BENZ HAS NOT CALLED ME BACK. I FILLED OUT A QUESTIONNAIRE TWO WEEKS AGO TO INFORM THEM OF THE PROBLEM. OUR CAR HAS BEEN SITTING AT THE BODY SHOP AWAITING MERCEDES TO GET BACK TO US. I HAVE DONE EVERYTHING I KNOW TO TRY AND GET MERCEDES TO CONTACT ME. THIS FEATURE WAS GROSSLY MISREPRESENTED BY THE SALESMAN AT ANAHEIM HILLS MERCEDES AND HE HAS BEEN REPRIMANDED FOR IT. WHAT IS WORSE, THE CAR COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST PLUS SYSTEM COMPLETELY FAILED. *TR
ON OCT 14TH AT NIGHT CAR WAS DRIVEN IN HEAVY RAIN OFF INTERSTATE I5 OFF RAMP TO EXIT INTERSTATE. THERE WERE CARS BOTH IN FRONT AND BEHIND US EXITING AND UPON DRIVING FURTHER NOTICED THERE WAS STANDING WATER. OTHER CARS WERE MAKING IT THROUGH SLOWLY, THERE WAS NO ROOM TO TURN AROUND. THIS CAR ALMOST MADE IT TO THE END OF THE OFFRAMP AND THEN STALLLED. OTHER CARS WERE FORCED TO GO AROUND. TRIED TO RESTART THE CAR TO NO AVAIL. CALLED FOR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE HOOD AND THEN ALL LIGHTING WENT DARK IN CAR. THEN SAW FLAMES FROM THE HOOD. QUICKLY RAN THROUGH WATER TO ESCAPE AND FLAMES GOT SEVERAL FEET HIGH. PASSER BY'S HAD CALLED 911 AS ENTIRE FRONT OF CAR WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. FIRE DEPARTMENT HAD TO CUT OPEN CAR HOOD TO PUT OUT FIRE. CAR DAMAGED BEYOND REPAIR AND THEY TOO WERE INCREDULOUS THAT A NEW CAR WOULD BE ENGULFED IN FLAMES AFTER STALLING IN THE RAIN.
AFTER STOPPING AND WAITING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT FOR 15-30 SECONDS, I HAD MY FEET ON THE BRAKES AND LEFT TURN INDICATOR ON. THE "HOLD" OPTION TO LOCK MY BRAKES WAS NOT ENGAGED. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY. WITHOUT WARNING, THE CAR SHIFTED INTO DRIVE AND JOLTED FORWARD INTO THE VEHICLE AHEAD OF ME AT THE LIGHT. (I WAS THE SECOND CAR IN LINE, AND I STOPPED ABOUT A HALF CAR LENGTH BEHIND THE OTHER DRIVER.) THE ACCELERATION WAS NOT A TYPICAL, GRADUAL MOVEMENT ASSOCIATED WITH WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I RELEASE MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE TO DRIVE. IT WAS A SUDDEN AND JARRING JUMP REGARDLESS OF THE FACT THAT MY FOOT NEVER LEFT THE BRAKE. I TRIED TO PRESS THE BRAKES MULTIPLE TIMES TO STOP THE FORWARD MOVEMENT, BUT MY CAR HIT THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME TWICE. THE STEEL BUMPER OF THE OTHER VEHICLE WAS NOT DAMAGED. THE FRONT AREA OF MY HOOD (EMBLEM AND GRILL) WERE CRUSHED. I REPORTED EARLIER ELECTRONIC ISSUES TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP AS NOTABLE ODDITIES, BUT NONE MADE ME THIS CONCERNED ABOUT SAFETY OF OTHERS, MY PASSENGERS, AND MYSELF. AS RECENTLY AS A WEEK EARLIER, MY REAR-VIEW CAMERA FROZE AND LOCKED AS I WAS REVERSING INTO MY GARAGE, SO HAD I TRUSTED THE SCREEN IN MY CAR, I WOULD HAVE REVERSED ANOTHER 5-10 FEET INTO MY GARAGE. I COULD NOT UNFREEZE IT WITHOUT PUTTING THE CAR BACK INTO DRIVE AND RESTARTING MY CAR. MONTHS EARLIER, THE SENSOR ON MY SIDE MIRRORS STARTED TO GO OFF WITHOUT ANY OTHER SOURCE OF DANGER OR COLLISION ON VACANT STREETS. THE AIR PRESSURE ALERT WARNED THAT MY TIRES WERE BECOMING DANGEROUSLY FLAT; HOWEVER, EN ROUTE TO THE GAS STATION, THE PRESSURE MONITOR NOTED THAT ALL TIRES WERE NOW RETURNING TO NORMAL PRESSURE LEVELS AND NO INFLATION WAS NEEDED. THERE HAVE BEEN MANY PECULIAR EVENTS WITH THIS NEW C300 IN RECENT MONTHS, BUT MY PRIMARY CONCERN AS A CAREGIVER IS THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION FROM A STOPPED POSITION--OR FROM ANY POSITION--WITHOUT MY DIRECTION OR INTENT.
C300 ANTI COLLISION SENSOR MALFUNCTION LIGHT DISPLAYED AND LOSS ENGINE POWER FOR SEVERAL SECONDS. THE CAR WAS TRAVELING APROX 20 MPH AT THE TIME ON CITY STREET. THEN POWER RESUMED, THE WARNING LIGHT WENT OUT. MERCEDES-BENZ OF TEMECULA, CA COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM. WORKORDER 229423, 9/13/16
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 MERCEDES-BENZ C300. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN EXTENSIVE GLARE THAT IMPACTED THE CONTACT'S VISIBILITY PERTAINING TO THE MIRRORS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO HAVE A DEALER INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE SERVICE CENTER MANAGER AT THE DEALER TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND INDICATED THAT THERE WAS A HIGH GLARE CAUSING POOR VISIBILITY. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED NO REPAIR SOLUTION. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE IF THE VEHICLE WOULD BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. SINCE THE PURCHASE OF OUR 2016 MERCEDES IN DECEMBER OF 2015, WE HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING THE WARNING DISPLAY OF THE TIRE PRESSURE ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE FIRST OCCURRENCE PRIOR TO TAKING IT TO A DEALERSHIP MY WIFE TOOK IT A LOCAL TIRE SHOP WHERE THE OWNER PUT AIR IN THE TIRES AND THE LIGHT WENT OFF. IT OCCURRED SEVERAL MORE TIMES AND I ALWAYS WENT TO LOCAL GAS STATIONS AND PUT AIR IN. AFTER GETTING FRUSTRATED WE DROVE TO THE DEALERSHIP IN VALENCIA CALIFORNIA SHOWED THE SERVICE ATTENDANT THE ALERT ON THE DASH. HE RETRIEVED AN AIR PUMP AND PUT AIR IN ALL THE TIRES ACCORDING TO THE SPECS AND SENT US ON OUR WAY WITHOUT DISCUSSING THE WARNING ALERT WHICH WENT OFF. AFTER APPX A WEEK AND A HALF OF DRIVING WE RETURNED WITH THE SAME PROBLEM.. MY WIFE SPENT 4 HOURS WAITING AND ACCORDING TO THE SERVICE RECEIPT THEY SAID THE TIRES WERE ROTATED AT THE CLIENT'S REQUEST AND NEVER MENTIONED THE ALERT ON THE DASH BEING REPORTED BY THE OWNER. WE HAVE TAKEN IT A COUPLE OF MORE TIMES ONE OF WHICH THE CHECKED AND SUBMERGED ALL THE TIRES TO CHECK FOR LEAKS AND RIM DAMAGE WHICH THEY ALL CHECK OUT PROBLEM FREE. AND AS USUAL THE ALERT CAME BACK ON AFTER APPX. A WEEK AND A HALF OF DRIVING. TODAY THE ALERT IS BACK ON WITH ANOTHER RED WARNING SIGN AND WE ARE GOING TO DRIVE IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP IN VALENCIA TOMORROW SINCE THEY WILL NOT SEND A TOW SERVICE OUT WHEN THE OWNER'S MANUAL CLEARLY STATES "IN DANGER OF AN ACCIDENT PULL OVER AND DO NOT DRIVE". THIS IS THE SECOND RED LIGHT WARNING ON THE VEHICLE AND IT APPEARS THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. ON THE FIRST OCCASION WHEN THE RED LIGHT CAME ON WE WERE INSTRUCTED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE IN REGARDLESS OF THE RED LIGHT WARNING. I CONTACTED THE MERCEDES BENZ USA COMPLAINT DEPARTMENT THIS MORNING AND FILED A COMPLAINT. THE DEPT OF CONSUMER AFFAIRS INSTRUCTED ME TO FOLLOW THE ARBITRATION GUIDELINES IN THE BACK OF THE MANUAL.
I BOUGHT A NEW 2016 C-CLASS MERCEDES BENZ . I HAD THE CAR FOR LESS THAN 24 HOURS WHEN THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE VEHICLE IN AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE A FIX FOR THE PROBLEM. IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE AMBIENT AIRFLOW. THE ENGINE DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY, CAUSING A ROUGH RIDE. WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE THE ENGINE WILL STALL AND THEN SHOOT FORWARD.
The blue line shows 309 total NHTSA complaints filed over 11 years, with the worst year being 2023 (57 complaints, including 1 crash report).
The amber reliability line averaged 20/100 across the vehicle's life — dropping as low as 10 in 2017 when complaint severity peaked.
Notably, despite 309 complaints on file, no recall has been issued — either the defect pattern has not met NHTSA's threshold for a formal campaign, or a recall may be forthcoming.
Red dots on the amber line flag 5 years (2016, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023) where complaints included crash events — these are the highest-severity incidents in the dataset.
Mercedes-Benz BlueTEC diesel vehicles were found to contain defeat device software that enabled NOx emissions to exceed legal limits in real-world driving. As part of a consent decree with the FTC, EPA, and state attorneys general, Mercedes extended the warranty on emissions components and NOx sensors.
