Upon inspection, found brake fluid dripping down from what appears to be brake booster. Leaking brake booster should be a safety recall with replacement covered by Toyota.
Truck has 116k miles, started losing power and acceleration diminished. CEL and Trac Off light came on. Pulled over twice after experiencing same issue. Took to mechanic and diagnostic code P0301 (cylinder 1 misfire). Replaced 6 spark plugs to be safe, and replaced broken coil in cylinder 1. Drove less than a mile and CEL came back on. Brought to dealership this time and they found a leak in the head gasket and noticed warping in cylinder 1, along with code P0301 still present. They reported back to me stating it needed a machinist to resurface the the cylinder head, that the repair is mechanical. Even outside of warranty this fix should not be costing $13,000. The truck has been properly maintained for the past 9 years, all oil services and replacing any wear and tear items. Mechanical (warping) is manufacturing issues.
Clear coat and paint began to oxidize and fade after 4 years of ownership even when maintaining with wax

Two independent repair facilities confirmed the head unit as the probable cause. Symptoms resolved upon removal of the head unit and reinstallation of the factory OEM unit. The product is currently listed as unavailable on Amazon. Injury or accident: None, but describe it as a near-safety incident since the vehicle was braking itself while in motion.
Vehicle stalled on highway bridge. Took to mechanic shop. They put the diagnostic code machine on and the code indicated fuel pump failure. Toyota does have a recall notice for the year, make, and model of my vehicle. But not showing on my VIN.
My 2017 Tacoma extra cab has paint peeling around the both windows and both fenders. Toyota states the four door trucks are covered under the customer support program 23TE08 but the extra cabs are not. My truck currently has 13,500 miles. They need to include the extra cabs.
On Tuesday, April 14, 2026 I was looking for something in my rear seat and noticed the seat was damp. I couldn't figure out the cause so I goggled it and found out that Toyota had a limited service campaign called LSC21TD03 on my 2017 Tacoma because of the third brake light having a gasket issue causing water to enter the vehicle. I called a local Toyota dealer and was told that the fix for my vehicle had expired in 2025. This water intrusion from the high third brake light can cause mold, interior damage, or electrical issues. This is an issue that Toyota previously acknowledged but has now stopped covering it. I called Toyota Corporate and was again told yes the repair fix was expired. I asked why wasn't I notified and was told that Toyota sent out letters. I told the representative that I never received a letter and was told the mailing was done by an outside company. I asked what could Toyota do to help me and was told to go back to the dealer and maybe they "would give me a discount or reduced price on the fix". The dealer offered nothing. Upon further research I found that several Toyota Tacoma owners state they were not aware of the service campaign and ended up changing the light themselves or paying out of pocket to have it repaired. I feel that this is an issue that Toyota is aware of and they should take care of it. This should have been a recall issue rather than just a service campaign that the public was not fully aware of. I still don't know the extent of damage to my vehicle because the dealer gave me a quote of $690 to repair. I questioned why so much to change a light and gasket and was told they have to take the panels down and clean the vehicle to make sure no mold was there. The quote was given without even examining the vehicle. I'm asking you to please look into this situation.
2017 Toyota Tacoma painted in MGM (MG1). The trucks paint/clearcoat are quickly failing from the factory paint application. This is a garage kept vehicle with 75k miles. Toyota refuses to accept any ownership of the factory paint application. This is a common issue amongst all Tacoma's, regardless of year or color.

I was driving on the highway when my vehicle suddenly lost power. The engine light and traction control light came on, and I lost power, and the engine started sputtering. I had to pull off to the side and put on hazards. My Tacoma would only drive about 25 MPH after this happened. Based on a quick search, this is a very common problem in 3rd-generation Tacomas!

Clock spring has failed. I've lost all steering wheel button controls as well as cruise control. Air bag light has now come on. I am afraid that if I get into a wreck, the airbag will not deploy. This seems to be a common issue with this select year for this Tacoma.

I was driving my 2017 Toyota Tacoma and I my car suddenly was lurching and running rough. I had to put on hazards on a main road and pull over immediately and was not even able to let it run for air conditioning. It was 108 degrees out that day, waited for 1 hour 30 minutes in heat. Had truck towed to mechanic that stated my fuel pump was bad and there was a federal mandate recall on this. I have the paperwork for this (attached), when I called dealership they said it was not covered so I called advocate for Toyota that stated my truck was built in June and the mandate was only for September of 2017 and forward. So I have the exact same problem that they have a federal mandate to fix but won't fix mine. If I had been on the freeway I could have been killed. I have attached estimate to fix.

I contacted the dealership and they told me my vehicle wasn't eligible for this recall to reach out to cooperate, in which I did and they told me it was only for certain vehicles. However I have been texting with the service dept at Capital Toyota and they are saying it was apart of the recall but it has expired. 2017 Tacoma TRD Pro Water has been leaking through the rear air-pressure vents for quite some time. I have had a moldy/musty smell in the truck after a good rain for at least 6 months. Then I started noticing mold coming up on the driver's side kick plate. We went through all the diagnostic steps with Toyota dealership, who kept telling us it was the windshield leaking. We had the windshield removed and reset. The windshield people told us it was the cowl under the windshield allowing water to come in through the air filter behind the glovebox. We took it back to Toyota dealer and they could not find the problem. I paid them $165 to "not" diagnose my truck. They also handed me an estimate for $11,000 to remediate the mold. When we got the truck home, we started looking up the problem on Tacoma forums and YouTube and finally discovered it was the air vents behind the rear seat. I pulled the plastic molding back and there was tons on mold. I took it back to the dealership for repair. The dealership has now said they will replace the air vents but will not remediate the mold. I have had sinus trouble for more than a year and did not know why. I believe this is the reason.

The contact, who is an independent mechanic, diagnosed the vehicle and retrieved a DTC code for a cylinder #3 misfire. The contact swapped the spark plugs and the code indicated misfires in four cylinders. The contact stated while inspecting around the top intake manifold, the contact noticed that the flap used to regulate the air to the engine had detached. The contact was afraid of driving the vehicle and was concerned that the unknown plastic piece could cause engine failure, was also detached. The dealer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact research the instructions. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.
2017 (manufactured in June) model year Tacoma vehicles painted with 8T0 Blue Metallic exhibit clear-coat peeling on one or more panels. The peeling occurs in the clear coat layer, exposing the base coat to the sunlight and fading the color to white. There is a current TSB #T-SB-0004-20, but Toyota says my vehicle was manufactured outside the affected Production range, as you can see in the attached, my vehicle's clear coat peeling looks exactly as described in the TSB. I have seen online other people are experiencing this pushback as well from Toyota. This TSB should be extended at least through June of 2017 if not through the end of the year. Toyota is REFUSING to make the repairs.
Master cylinder or some part near brake pedal inside the cab is leaking oil or a oil like substance on to floor mats and floor.
I had noticed my heated seat stopped working. Upon investigation and searching the web for similar issues I found that a relay for the seats located under each front seat was the issue. I saw pictures online of others and when I pulled my seat out I found the connection between the wires and relay had been completely burned and melted. This is Toyota part number 87501-0C020. When looking up this part it is discontinued with no replacement. There’s no recall or warning from Toyota for this issue. This same part is also installed on Tundra too. By the amount of burning this is definitely a safety issue and I don’t know why it has not been addressed.
Seat heater not working. i looked online to see what the issue could be and learned there was issues with the seat heater amp burning up from being defective. I pulled the amp and noticed the amp was burnt up and so was the wiring. This is a fire hazard.
Noticed that my floor is getting soaked for no reason. After bring my truck to Arlington Toyota I found out that is was the cabin pressure vent that was leaking. The cabin pressure vent is found between the truck bed and cab. They recalled the third break light in 2019 for leaking water into the cabin but Toyota won’t recognize this pressure vent as a recall which is also leaking water into the cabin. After pulling up all of the carpet I have black mold all under the carpet where my newborn baby was riding. Black mold is a huge health concern. Looking online this is a known issue with Toyota tacomas. My parts to fix this issue have been back ordered for two mths so far, still with no ETA on when they will be available. According to The service rep, I am one of nine people currently dealing with this same issue at Arlington Toyotas dealership alone. so no time frames have been provided. When I was quoted the 5800 to fix this issue they suggested I go through insurance. This seems to be a known issue with product quality and instead of recalling they are pushing it to insurance Companies. Seems to be a shady practice Toyota is pulling and no one is big enough to stop them.
Paint is peeling around doors on both sides of the vehicle. Both front and rear doors of the cab. Common known issue.
Unit 1 vehicle ran a red light at approximately 45mph and impacted the passenger side door of the Tacoma (unit 2) pushing the Tacoma into a stop vehicle (unit 3) in the turning lane. Unit 1 and unit 3 air bags deployed but none of the air bags in the Tacoma deployed. One of the pictures taken show the front driver side air bag sensor in the wreck frame.
BRAKE FLUID LEAK SEEPING FROM BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER, LEAKING FROM ACTUATOR TO BRAKE PEADAL AND DRIPS OF FLUID FOUND ON FLOOR OF VEHICLE. This is an obvious safety risk as not only is oil/fluid dripping on to the brake pedal, if the master cylinder goes out the brakes could stop working completely. This component has been inspected and confirmed by a Toyota dealership and there are other examples of this same issue happening to other Tacoma owners. This issue has been recalled on 2018 Toyota Tacomas, however, the recall needs to be expanded to more years as it is obvious that other Tacomas are being effected.
2017 Toyota Tacoma double cab-V6 with 62K approx miles. On or around April 29th 2024, I was traveling in this truck when there was a sudden and complete loss of power, two check engine lights came on-The "trac off" light and the check engine light came on. I needed to pull over immediately for safety. I ended up driving the vehicle to the Toyota dealership in limp mode. The vehicle has sat at Tustin Toyota now for weeks with the Toyota dealership initially suggesting that a ACIS Flap broke off inside the intake manifold of the car. This was replaced and the vehicle is still providing the same alarms and still in limp mode. The initial fix(whihc did not fix the problem was a full replacement of the intake manifold). Now the dealer is suggesting that a piece(s) broke off the intake manifold and ended up inside the engine so now dealer is recommending and entire engine break down to attempt to further diagnose the situation. Again it looks to be a complete failuure of the ACIS system and the intake manifold. This problem has presented a EXTREME safety issue due to comp[lete loss for power initially then truck sits in LIMP Mode. Very dangerous!
Brake fluid leaking on drivers side floor mat because of master cylinder. Brakes are now less responsive even though pads have been replaced. 2018 -2019 Tacomas were recalled for the same issue. This is a pretty big safety concern.

The Tacoma still has only 10,000 original miles. We yearly replace the oil when we have our annual vehicle inspection. The truck has been trouble since the beginning. Early on I noticed when going downhill, the automatic transmission seems to slip when applying the gas. I have taken the truck back to the dealer in Kona to be told that it is not part of the rear end differential recall some years ago. I asked them to make a notation of this should the transmission or rear end differential fail in the future. Recently, we received an informational letter from Toyota regarding something about a possible faulty high pressure fuel pump. I made an appointment at the dealer and since I was there asked them for tire rotation, oil change and annual vehicle inspection. I explained to the service writer that I still believe there is a rear end or transmission problem. At first, she said, the recall was never done and later said it was done. More importantly, I have been smelling gasoline when I exit the truck although I see no visible fuel on the ground. I believe that this is related to the fuel pump issue which I received the letter from you. I was told several hours after I dropped off the truck that the fuel smell was not related to the letter I received.

The brake master cylinder is leaking to the inside of the cab floor.
I have started to notice that my 2017 Toyota Tacoma Off-Road has started to leak what seems brake fluid on my carpet. After inspecting my vehicle, I have noticed that the leak is coming from the Brake Master Cylinder. This situation has me worried now that this could lead to a serious accident. There is an apparent recall for this same exact issue for the 2018-2019 Tacoma models but, not for the 2017 model year.
Brake system is leaking fluid into the cab, and collects on the floor mat. Brake fluid level has dropped below minimum cold level. Mileage 42,164 Leaking brake fluid can cause decreased brake performance, or complete failure of the braking system. Which can result in loss of vehicle control and collisions with other vehicles, structures, or pedestrians. The dealer has not yet confirmed the issue. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by anyone other than the owner (myself). No warning lamps or messages. Leaking brake fluid was seen on the driver floor mat within the last few months, and continues.
Rear coolant bypass joint leak. This is a plastic defective pipe that has leaked on my truck and thousands of others! The dealership wants 2000 dollars to repair their cheap mistake! I have pictures and invoice to upload, but the site will not allow it.
Brake pedal spongy and when pushed and held it continuously goes slowly to the floor. I believe the recall for the master cylinder should have been extended back further.

The 2018-2019 Toyota Tacomas have been recalled for having a bad Master Cylinder and leaking internally within the truck. The 2017 Tacomas have the same issue. My 2017 Tacoma has been leaking brake fluid on my floormat. I'm sure I am not the only one having an issue with this and because it involved the brakes it does pose a risk on the road If the brakes were to fail due to a Master Cylinder that again has been recalled with the 2018-19 Tacomas. Why not include the 2017 Tacomas as well?
I have noticed brake fluid leaking inside the cab coming from the master cylinder. I see that 2018-2019 models have a defective master cylinder, and a recall has been issued. Truck has 80,000 miles, thinking the 2017 model should be added to the recall. Very unusual for this to be leaking under normal use. Thanks for your time
BOUGHT THIS TACOMA TRUCK NEW FROM THE DEALER. IT NOW HAS 16,885 MILES ON THE TRUCK AND THE DEALER TELLS ME THE FRONT BRAKES ARE IN THE RED, BAD RANGE, 3/32" OR LESS IN THICKNESS AND THEY NEED TO BE REPLACED SOON. I BELIEVE IT'S COMMON KNOWLEDGE THAT BRAKES ON A NEW VEHICLE REALLY OUGHT TO LAST TWICE THAT MANY MILES. NOW IT BEING A SAFETY ISSUE I WAS NOT SURE IF I SHOULD REPORT THIS TYPE OF ISSUE?

Purchased 4 new Firestone Destination LE3 P245/75/R16 tires. I immediately noticed my truck vibrating a lot. The higher rhe speed , the bigger vibration. I took it back twice. The service tech. Indicated that he balanced them, so i took them to another service station. Two front tires wrre determined to be egg-shaped and could not be balanced. They were also noticably a different color than the back two tires as well. I am taking them back to the original seller and having them replaced under the warranty.
Transmission line was described by two auto mechanics (one from a Toyota dealership) as “rusted out” and “porous”, “low pressure/fluid” and “needs to be fixed”. I was totally unaware of the issue until I had to get my AC recharged. Note: this is a 2017 truck with 82,000 miles driven in Massachusetts. No warning lights went off.
Paint is chipping off around rear passenger door On my White 2017 Tacoma, and Toyota wont do anything about it. Paid for paint protection coating for no reason i guess. I am not the only owner going through this there are petitions and forums all over internet too. Toyota should have to fix this problem. We noticed it about 6 months ago and it is steadily getting worse, I am afraid to wash it fear it would get even worse.
It has been well established among 2016 and up Toyota Tacoma owners and clubs that the Rear Coolant Bypass Joint leaks at different mileages, If the loss of coolant happens rapidly enough the engine could overheat and siez up and cause the pistions to weld to the cylinders along with causing extensive engine damage not to mention how the driver would handel the truck, Toyota dealerships and Manufacture also know of This Coolant Bypass joint leak and how common it is. Also the corrosive build up from the antifreeze will cause other parts and wires to not work, Attached is my part and the build up of antifreez before the leak,
We purchased a set of these tires at the end of June and have only about 15,000mi on them now. The embossed tire wear indicators show more than the 80% tread life left. About two weeks or so ago, I noticed a blister on the tire. Looking at it, there were a few tread blocks separating from the carcass. Yes, separation like what caused issues with Firestone and Ford Explorers a while ago! Pictures attached. I tried reaching out directly to Nokian and received no reply. I then tried to contact the seller (Budget Center) and Amazon. Initially, Amazon was helpful and the seller told me to go check at a local store. Now, Amazon says there is nothing that they will do and I have to go through Nokian on my own. Note that I was not asking for a refund, only help contacting Nokian. We have purchased several sets of tires from Amazon and will never again if this is how they handle warrantable defects. Shameful! The consumer was able to get in contact with the manufacture and the new tire is now installed.

Water leaked through the third brake light gasket at the rear, top of the cabin. There is a service campaign, I believe, for 2016-2018 Double Cab Tacomas. However, this issue is present in my Access Cab Tacoma. I have water leaking through onto the rear windshield.
The paint is chipping/flaking around the windows and along the edges on both rear doors. I have taken my Tacoma into two dealerships, Santa Maria Toyota, Santa Maria, CA and Arlington Toyota, Jacksonville, FL. I first reported this to The Service Manager Stacy at Santa Maria Toyota in July 2021 for the rear driver side door paint damage. Then on 16 March 2022 I reported the rear passenger side door damage to Body Shop Arlington Toyota. Both inspected my vehicle and stated this is a common problem with the Super white paint. I contacted Toyota Corporate both times and today they advised me to file this with you guys. I bought this 2017 Tacoma new and it has been garaged.
Mileage 64000: Vehicle went in for oil change and the mechanic noticed an issue with the differential mounts. The right bolt was corroded and broken leaving that side unsecured. The other bolt was heavily corroded also but still "intact". I had the support bolts, nuts and washers replaced on both sides for safety. These bolts were in a bad condition in relationship to a everything else under the vehicle. I want to make sure there isn't an issue with the bolts failing this early.

I went to the gas station to fill up my tank and once I was done. I had trouble closing my fuel filler door. Fuel filler door is now broken and won’t close at all.
Roof top shark fin antenna leaking water. First suspected the leak from high mount stop light, changed gasket for it. Water intrusion continued and ceiling higher than high mount brake light wet. Upon inspection of roof top antenna, white axidation found around the base of roof top antenna cabin/inside side.
My Tacoma has the super white color paint. It has been peeling for several months from the 2 passenger doors and both front fenders. Toyota acknowledges paint issues with the super white on several models but not the Tacoma. I’ve seen a lot of the same exact issue on the internet. I went to my local Toyota dealer and they said to go to their collision center for them to make a report and send to Toyota. Toyota then told me they are not covering that yet. The paint is getting much worse. I would like to file a complaint in hopes other Toyota owners are doing the same and they will finally acknowledge and correct the issue
When fully stopped, in drive, and applying constant pressure on the brake pedal, the brake pedal loses firmness and starts to move further forward. If the operator doesn't apply more pressure to the now moving pedal, the vehicle will start to roll forward. I was able to recreate this issue on several occasions.
•The heated seat amp connections melted under the front seats during use, it is available and a I have taken pictures. •The melting amp could have caused a fire, it did cause some smoke with a strong smell of burning plastic. •They are aware of this issue at the dealership but did not look at vehicle. •No they did not inspect it, stating this is a common issue. •No warnings or messages. The contact stated that after shutting off the vehicle with the push-button keyless ignition, the vehicle was parked inside of the garage with the garage door remaining opened and the contact exited the vehicle. When the contact came back to the garage, he noticed that the vehicle was missing as it had reversed down the driveway inadvertently while the engine was off. However, the transmission gear shifter was on the drive position. The vehicle had crashed into two trees in the woods. No police report was filed. The vehicle was taken to a body shop and remained at the body shop, waiting for repairs to the front and rear passenger side doors, rear windshield, rear fender, and passenger side mirror. The high mount rear stop lamp leaks water into the cab. The water channels in through a cheap gasket, down the inside of the frame, destroying the cushions and plastic through moisture and mildew. Toyota Corporation and Precision Toyota of Tucson (service) AZ, both say the problem is only covered by the regular 36,000 mileage, 3 year warranty. They want to charge me $575 to replace the light. However, the known issue doesn't occur because of miles driven or even age of the vehicle. I live in the desert and it has not rained significantly since I bought the truck new in 2017, according to the National Weather Service. This year, with record rains, water is freely seeping in to the cab. Toyota should recall Tacomas with this issue and replace the cheap gasket it used to manufacture these trucks.
Airbags did Not deploy during car accident. This was the 2nd time, but 1st accident was minor because it was with a deer. The vehicle is available in the Towing company per police instruction. Driver had several bruises. Insurance companies are involved, have not hear anything about this specific situation. No warnings and all switches for airbags were ON
I have been having several intermittent issue with the automatic transmission on my 2017 Tacoma TRD off Road with 43000 miles. Among them are as follows: It fails to shift correctly (hunting for gears) on the highway and hesitates to accelerate when needed, Also the transmission sometimes has a delayed engagement when putting it into reverse or drive from a standstill. The engine will rev up like it was in neutral then abruptly catch the reverse gear causing a loud and disturbing “BANG” and even some tire spin on the pavement. I also intermittently experience a loud “CLUNK” when slowing down to a stop in traffic as if the transmission is not downshifting properly from the higher gears to the lower ones and is forced to come to an abrupt halt. The dealer has performed a software update but this has not helped. The dealer also cannot replicate these problems because the issues are intermittent. I understand that a lot of 3’rd generation Tacoma owners are experiencing the same exact issues but it seems that Toyota is not issuing a recall for some reason. I believe this is a potential safety hazard and should be addressed.
I had to have a leaking third brake light assembly replaced for water pouring into the cab. The total cost for repairs were 496.00. My truck has only 40,000 miles and it has been leaking for a long time from the previous owner. It would have been replaced by Toyota if under 36,000 miles. There is multiple complaints on the website and a Toyota service bulletin involved with this repair. I think a recall should be introduced and a refund issued. I had the local Toyota dealer fix the leak with genuine parts.
THE TACH SHOWS THE ENGINE IS BOUNCING ALL OVER THE PLACE WHICH IS ESPECIALLY EVIDENT WHEN IDLING, BUT ALSO NOTICIBLE WHILE IN MOTION. I BELIEVE MY TRUCK SHOULD HAVE THE FUEL PUMP REPLACED. THE ENGINE RPMS JUMP ALL OVER WHEN DRIVING, WHEN BACKING UP OR JUST ROLLING WITHOUT PRESSURE ON THE GAS PEDAL, THE TRUCK JUMPS & DROPS IN SPEED. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR SOME TIME NOW. WE HAVE TRIED ADDING DETERGENTS & USING BETTER QUALITY GAS BUT IT DOESN'T SEEM TO HELP.
LEFT TURN SIGNAL QUIT WORKING WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET MAKING A LEFT TURN. TOYOTA TOOK 4.5 HOURS TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. SAID IT WAS IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AFFECTING THE TURN SIGNAL AND ODOMETER. SAID IT WOULD TAKE A WEEK TO GET PART AND THEY NEEDED TO KNOW HOW MANY MILES I WOULD DRIVE IN THAT WEEK BECAUSE THE ODOMETER HAD TO BE SET TO EXISTING MILES PLUS THE MILES I DRIVE DURING THE WEEK. ONE WEEK LATER WAS TOLD THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER AND IT WOULD BE 30 TO 60 DAYS FOR THE PART. I GOOGLED THE PROBLEM AND FOUND MANY COMPLAINTS OF "LEFT TURN SIGNAL GOING OUT" ON TOYOTA TACOMAS DATING AS FAR BACK AS 2012. OBVIOUSLY TOYOTA KNOWS OF THE PROBLEM. HAVE THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM ON THE REPLACEMENT PART OR IS IT PRON TO GO OUT AGAIN. HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD TO DRIVE FOR ONE OR TWO MONTHS WITHOUT A LEFT TURN SIGNAL, HOW MANY ACCIDENTS HAVE OCCURED BECAUSE OF NOT HAVING A LEFT TURN SIGNAL, HOW MANY CITATIONS HAVE BEEN ISSUED FOR FAILURE TO USE TURN SIGNAL. HOW MANY VEHICLES DO NOT HAVE THE CORRECT MILEAGE ON THE ODOMETER, MINE WONT UNLESS THEY CONTACT ME AND ASK HOW MANY MILES I HAVE DRIVEN PRIOR TO SHIPPING THE PART AS I WAS TOLD IT HAD TO BE SET AT THE FACTORY BEFORE SHIPPING. IN ADDITION THE DIAGNOSTIC COAST WAS $150.00 THE PART WILL BE $750.00 PLUS LABOR TO INSTALL. I FEED TOYOTA SHOULD HAVE KNOWN EXACTLY WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS WHEN TOLD THE LEFT TURN SIGNAL QUIT. I GOOGLED IT IN LESS THAT 5 MINUTES. SO FAR NO INVOICES TO SHARE.

THE LEAK DETECTION PUMP SUB-ASSEMBLY, CHARCOAL CANISTER (PART # 90910-AF006) LOCATED ABOVE THE REAR AXLE WILL START "PUMPING" VERY LOUDLY EVEN AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DRIVEN IN EXCESS OF 8 HOURS. CONTINUES FOR APPROX 10 MINUTES, THEN SHUTS OFF. I WENT TO MY DEALERSHIP AND ASKED WHY THIS IS HAPPENING AND I WAS TOLD THAT "IT SEEMS UNUSUAL" AND THEN ASKED ME IF I PUMP GAS "BEYOND THE NORMAL CLICK TO STOP" - I SAID "NO", AND THAT I HADN'T GASSED UP IN OVER A WEEK. SO HE SAID TO JUST KEEP "AN EYE ON IT". DIFFICULT TO DETERMINE JUST HOW OFTEN THIS IS HAPPENING SINCE CLEARLY I'M NOT GOING TO BE IN THE GARAGE AT THE TIME THIS MAY BE OCCURRING. HAVING SAID THAT, A WEEK LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENED. I'M AFRAID THAT THERE'S SOME SORT OF ELECTRICAL ISSUE AT PLAY HERE, BUT I GET THE FEELING THAT THE DEALERSHIP WON'T DO ANYTHING BECAUSE OF THE SPORADIC NATURE OF THIS.

EVERY SO OFTEN I HEARD A BANG COMING FROM THE DRIVETRAIN WHILE I'M DRIVING AND ALSO WHEN I PUT THE TRUCK ON REVERSE THE SOUND IT'S LOUD. I DON'T KNOW IT'S A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM OR THE JOINTS WITH THE DIFFERENTIAL. BUT IT'S GETTING BAD. VEHICLE LOOSES TRACKTION WHEN MAKING TURNS ON A CURVE. HAPPENS FREQUENTLY AND TIRES ARE STILL WITHIN LIFECYCLE. THE TIRES CURRENTLY ARE FROM ORIGINAL PURCHASE OF NEW TACOMA. ALSO, THE RECALL FOR PROBLEM WITH FUEL PROPULSION SYSTEM HAS BEEN ONGOING AND NO REMEDY HAS BEEN MADE AVAILABLE. THIS IS PUTTING MY FAMILY AT RISK.
CERTAIN TOYOTA'S HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR A FUEL PUMP ISSUE AND I WOULD LIKE TO ADDMINE TO THAT LIST BECAUSE IT SOMETIMES HESITATES FROM A STOP POSITION TO A GO POSITION. I UNDERSTAND THERE IS A RECALL AND I HAVE CONTACTED TOYOTA AND THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING AND TOLD ME THAT I WOULD BE CHARGED A DIAGNOSTIC FEE. I BOUGHT THE TRUCK IN MARCH 2020 WITH A LITTLE OVER 14,000 MILES ON THE TRUCK THE PROBLEM BEGAN IN SEPTEMBER 2020
I TOOK MY TOYOTA (WHICH IS A MANUAL TRANSMISSION) THROUGH A CAR WASH PARKED IT AT HOME DIRECTLY AFTER. WENT TO DRIVE IT 24 HOURS LATER AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WOULD NOT DISENGAGE. I JUST HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED FOR THE SECOND TIME AFTER ATTEMPTING TO UNLOCK IT WITHOUT DEALERSHIP HELP. IT UNLOCKED SOMEWHAT VIA THE METHOD I HAVE USED BEFORE. IT IS NOW DRIVING LIKE THE BRAKE IS STILL TRYING TO ENGAGE EVEN THOUGH THE HANDBRAKE IS NOT ENGAGED.

AFTER STOPPING AT A GAS STATION, I ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE TRUCK. TRUCK WOULD NOT IDLE AND WAS NOT DRIVE-ABLE. THE MOTOR HAD NEW SPARK PLUGS AND A NEW CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. TRUCK WAS TOWED TO A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP, WHO DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS BEING ZERO COMPRESSION ON CYLINDER #5 & 6. NEW MOTOR NEEDED :(
TRUCK HESITATES OR LOSES POWER AND TRIANGLE APPEARS ON DASH FOR AN INSTANT WHILE DRIVING ON STREET OR HIGHWAY . ONLY HAPPENS NOW AND THEN. REPORTED IT TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY PUT IT ON A COMPUTER BUT COULDN'T FIND THE PROBLEM. THIS WAS DONE BEFORE THE WARRANTY EXPIRED SO THEY WOULD HAVE A RECORD OF THE ISSUE. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION.

THE CONTACT SPOKE TO THE HEAD MECHANIC AND THEY ARE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THEY SAID THE BRAKE SYSTEM NEEDS A SEAL TO PREVENT MOISTURE FROM GETTING INTO THE SYSTEM. THEY WOULD NOT LOOK AT THE SYSTEM UNLESS THERE WAS A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED YET. THE VEHICLE REMAINS UNREPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,500.
TRANSMISSION WHEN IN COLD WEATHER. HAS A VERY SLIGHT THUMP WHEN COMING TO A STOP AS IF THE TRANSMISSION IS NOT SHIFTING DOWN SMOOTHLY IN GEARS. YOU SOMETIMES HEAR AND FEEL THIS THUMB WHEN DRIVING AROUND CITY STREETS . NOT AS MUCH AS WHEN THE WEATHER IS COLD OR AT STARTUP.
BRAKE OVERRIDE MALFUNCTION ERROR CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO SUDDENLY COME TO A STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THIS SAFETY FUNCTION IS DANGEROUS AS IT CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO BOTH FAIL TO OPERATE OR ALLOW FOR ANY KIND OF CONTROL VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION MOVING AT ABOUT 35 MPH IN WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS. THIS SEEMS TO BE A CONSISTENT PROBLEM WITH 2016- 2018 TOYOTA TRUCK MODELS FOR WHAT WAS FOUND ONLINE AFTER HAVING THE PROBLEM.

ALSO THE AIR CONDITIONING FAN MOTOR HAS CRACKED AND WHEN TURNED ON SOUNDS LIKE A MOTORCYCLE REVING IT'S ENGINE.

THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO ROCHESTER TOYOTA (48 FARMINGTON RD, ROCHESTER, NH 03867) WHERE HE WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.

WATER CAME IN THROUGH THE BACK OF THE CAB FROM THE OUTSIDE CAB LIGHT I NOTICED IT WHILE GOING THROUGH A TOUCHLESS DRIVE THROUGH CAR WASH. THE WATER SOAKED THROUGH ON THE HEADLINER AND SEAT LEAVING A WATER STAIN AND POSSIBLE MOLD. I TOOK THE CAR IN TO A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE WATER WAS COMING THROUGH THE CAB LIGHT ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE TRUCK. THIS PROBLEM WAS POSTED ON TOYOTA'S BULLETIN BY OTHER 2017 TACOMA OWNERS.
OXIDATION ON THE UPPER PART OF THE FRONT GLASS, BEING SUCH A MODERN VEHICLE AND HAVING SUCH PROBLEMS IN THE BODYWORK. I WENT TO MY TOYOTA DEALERSHIP TO CLAIM WHAT HAPPENED AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THIS WAS NOT A FAULT THAT IT MUST HAVE BEEN SOME KIND OF FAULT, BUT IF WE SEARCH THE ENTIRE ROOF OF MY VEHICLE WE FIND MANY PINTS OF OXIDATION THAT ARE NOT WORKED ON, THEY CAN TURN INTO THE SAME THING THAT IS COMING OUT NOW.

FREEWAY TRAFFIC WAS SLOWING. EDGE OF SOLE OF SHOE CAUGHT UNDER BRAKE PEDAL WHEN TRYING TO STOP ON WHEN THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME SUDDENLY AND UNNECESSARILY STOPPED COMPLETELY. THE DELAY IN BRAKING WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN A CRASH INTO REAR OF CAR IN FRONT HAD I NOT SWERVED INTO MEDIAN WHEN FINALLY ABLE TO START BRAKING. SOLE OF MY ATHLETIC SHOE FLARES OUT A LITTLE WHICH MAY BE PART OF THE PROBLEM. SEAT WAS AS FAR BACK AS IT GOES. PERHAPS DISTANCE TO PEDALS IS TOO SHORT. OTHERWISE, BRAKE PEDAL IS ONE-HALF INCH HIGHER THAN ACCELERATOR.

THE VEHICLE EMITS A TAPPING SOUND WHILE IDLING, THE NOISE INCREASES WITH ACCELERATION. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD US IT WAS THE VACUUM PUMP AND WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. I DID A GOOGLE SEARCH FOR VACUUM PUMP, 2017 TACOMA AND THE FIRST THING THAT POPPED UP WAS A RECALL FOR THE VACUUM PUMP ON SOME 2017 TACOMAS BUT NOT MINE SPECIFICALLY. THERE HAS NOT BEEN AN ACCIDENT BUT I SEE THAT THE VACUUM PUMP HAS IS CONNECTED TO THE BRAKING SYSTEM. STRANGE COINCIDENCE. *TR
WENT THROUGH A CAR WASH AND BOTH REAR CORNERS OF THE CAB LEAKED ENOUGH THAT THE WATER WAS GUSHING IN. THE HEADLINER GOT SOAKED, IF THIS HITS ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS IT COULD SHORT AN ELECTRICAL SYSTEM POSSIBLY RESULTING IN AFFECTED ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS SHUTTING DOWN INCREASING THE POSSIBILITY OF AN ACCIDENT. OR WORSE, COULD DAMAGE THE SRS AIRBAG LOCATED IN THE NEXT TO THE REAR SEATS. THE FILE TYPE OF THE PICTURES I HAVE ARE NOT THE FORMAT ACCEPTED SO THEY WILL NOT UPLOAD.

UNFORTUNATELY THE SAME PROBLEMS ARE STILL OCCURRING. MY TRUCK HAS BEEN AT MAUI TOYOTA FOR MONTHS NOW. THEY ARE NOW SAYING THAT THEY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION AND THEY AGREE THAT IT'S NO BETTER BUT THA IT'S IN RUNNING CONDITION. I HAVE BEEN TOLD TO ALL SERVICE HONOLULU WHERE I HAVE BEEN BASICALLY LEFT BLIND. I UNDERSTAND THAT THERE IS A CRITICAL SITUATION GOING ON SO I FIGURED THAT HAS PART TO DO WITH NOT GETTING ANY UPDATES. YESTERDAY MAUI TOYOTA CALLS AND INFORMED ME THAT THEY WILL HAVE MY TRUCK TOWED ON TUESDAY. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE TO SAY THE LEAST. DRIVERS SIDE SEAT HEATER STOPPED WORKING. I RESEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND THIS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE AND WAS PROBABLY DUE TO A BURNT UP CONNECTION AT SEAT HEATER AMP LOCATED UNDER THE DRIVER SEAT. I CONTACTED MY DEALER AND TOLD THEM THERE IS A VISIBLY BURNT CONNECTION BUT WAS ADVISED THAT SINCE I WAS 600 MILES PAST WARRANTY, THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. I CALLED TOYOTA USA AND GOT A CASE NUMBER AND WAS AGAIN TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO.WITH ALL THE IMAGES OF BURNT CONNECTORS THIS SEEMS TO BE A FIRE HAZARD.
I STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE SHIFTING FROM 4TH OR 5TH GEAR WHEN ATTEMPTING TO REACH HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHICH IN THIS AREA IS 70 MPH. THE TRUCK WOULD STICK AND THE RPMS WOULD GO ABOVE 3000 RPM. I HAD TOYOTA OF MIDLAND LOOK AT THIS ON 03/07/19. IN APRIL I CONTACTED TOYOTA CORPORATE AND TOLD THEM OF THE PROBLEM AND THEY ASSIGNED CASE #1904152129 AND SENT A CORPORATE REPRESENTATIVE HERE ON 04/24/19. THE CORPORATE REP, ALONG WITH A LOCAL TECHNICIAN, HOOKED UP A COMPUTER AND RODE WITH ME AND WITNESSED THE SHIFTING PROBLEM. THE CORPORATE REP. SAID THAT THIS WASN'T ANY FAULT OF THE VEHICLE AND THE LOCAL TECHINICIAN SAID THAT HIS 2017 TACOMA WAS DOING THE SAME THING. ON 01/22/2020 I BROUGHT MY TACOMA IN FOR IT'S 30K MAINTANCE AND TOLD THE SEVICE WRITER ABOUT THIS ISSUE AGAIN. THE SERVICE WRITER SAID THAT HE HAD EXPERIENCED THE SAME THING WHEN HE OWNED A 2017 & 2019 TACOMA, AND REMEDED THE PROBLEM WHEN HE TRADED FOR A 2020 TACOMA.. THIS IS MY FAMILIES 5TH TOYOTA VEHICLE; IT WILL BE MY LAST TOYOTA.
AFTER SMELLING GAS IN THE CABIN OF THE TRUCK FOR SEVERAL MONTHS, WITH NO APPARENT PROBLEMS WITH VEHICLE HANDLING AND PERFORMANCE, THE TRUCK WAS TAKEN IN FOR IT'S REGULAR SERVICE. FUEL LINES GOING INTO THE ENGINE ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE WERE LEAKING AT A COUPLING JUST BEFORE THE INJECTORS. THE FIRST HALF INCH OF THE HOSE BEFORE THE COUPLING WAS DELAMINATED DUE TO FUEL BEING FORCED BETWEEN THE SHEATHING AND THE HOSE. TOYOTA SERVICE CENTER HAD NOT SEEN THIS ISSUE BEFORE AND DID NOT KNOW WHAT WOULD HAVE CAUSED IT.

I HAVE A 2017 TOYOTA TACOMA WITH 90,000 MILES ON IT. THE WIND SHIELD IS NOT VERY RESISTANT TO ABRASION, AS THE WINDOW HAS NOW BECOME CLOUDY DUE TO THE ABRASIVENESS OF ROAD DUST, ETC., ESPECIALLY WHEN THE SUN IS AT A LOW ANGLE. SEE THE ATTACHED PICTURE. TWO MAJOR ISSUES ON MY TRUCK: 1) THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE SUSPENSION HAS BEEN SQUEAKING WHETHER THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION OR NOT. 2) THE RADIO UNIT REBOOTS ITSELF RANDOMLY AND MULTIPLE TIMES DURING A SHORT DRIVE RENDERING THE BACKUP CAMERA USELESS.
WATER LEAK INTO THE REAR OF THE CAB. TOYOTA KNOWS IS A KNOWN ISSUE BUT THEY DECLINE WARRANTY ON IT. THEY ONLY HAVE A T-SB-0055-18 BUT IF THE CUSTOMER DOESNT RESEARCH FOR IT ONLINE THEY WILL NOT EVEN TELL THE CUSTOMER. THE WATER LEAK CAUSE MOLD IN THE CAR AND EVERYTHING IS WET ON IT. OUR CAR HAS NOW 38000 MILES. THIS IS AN EXPENSIVE CAR AND THE MOLD WILL CAUSE PEOPLE TO GET SICK. TOYOTA WANTS A CUSTOMER TO PAY MORE THAN $10,000 TO FIX AN ISSUE THAT IS CAUSE BY THEM. TRANSMISSION FAILS TO START OFF IN 1ST GEAR ESPECIALLY WHEN UNDER A LOAD SUCH AS A/C ON DURING A HOT DAY. ALSO CONSTANTLY SHIFTING FROM 6TH TO 4TH THEN HOLDING 4TH FOR A SHORT DURATION THEN SHIFTING TO 5TH AND IMMEDIATE BACK TO 6TH THEN STARTS THE PROCESS OVER AGAIN. I HAVE VERIFIED THIS IS THE CASE WITH EVEN NEW 2018 MODELS THE DEALER AND TOYOTA STATE THIS IS NORMAL OPERATION. THE ISSUE IS WE NEVER KNOW WHEN IT IS GOING TO OCCUR. WE CAN DRIVE FROM LIGHT TO LIGHT AND SOMETIMES IT LEAVES IN FIRST FROM A COMPLETE STOP AND OTHER TIMES IT DOES NOT. THIS IS DANGEROUS WHEN MAKING UNPROTECTED TURNS IN FRONT OF TRAFFIC. AS STATED THIS ISSUE IS MORE APPARENT IN THE SUMMER HEAT OF LAS VEGAS NV. FELLOW CONSUMERS SUGGEST THAT I INVEST IN A 3RD PARTY "TUNE" THAT RESOLVES THIS ERRATIC SHIFTING BEHAVIOR BUT THE COST IS NEARLY $800 AND I DON'T WANT TO VOID MY MANUFACTURER WARRANTY BY APPLYING A 3RD PARTY SOFTWARE REPAIR BUT THIS IS DESCRIBED BY FELLOW OWNERS AS "THE ONLY FIX". THE ISSUE IS WELL DOCUMENTED IN TOYOTA OWNERS FORUMS AS WELL AS OTHER SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS BUT TOYOTA HAS THEIR HEAD IN THE SAND AFTER RELEASE OF THEIR 2ND REVISION TO THE SHIFTING PROGRAM OVER A YEAR AGO. REAR BRAKES LOCKING UP. I DROVE THE TRUCK A COUPLE MILE AND WE HAD A LOT OF RAIN AND WHEN I PARKED THE CAR I SET THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AS ALWAYS SINCE IT IS A STICK SHIFT/ MANUAL TRANSMISSION. I WENT TO GO TO THE STORE THE NEXT DAY AND THE TRUCK WOULD NOT MOVE SINCE THE REAR LEFT WHEEL WAS LOCKED UP. I CALLED TOYOTA ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE AND THIS WAS MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND AND THEY WOULDN'T COME TO GET THE CAR BECAUSE THE DEALER WAS CLOSED AND SOMEONE HAD TO SIGN FOR THE CAR. I WAS FORTUNATELY HOME AT THE TIME BUT DID HAVE TO GO TO WORK ON TUESDAY AND THAT WOULD BE WHEN THEY CAME. I DID SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND OUT THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS ISSUE. THIS IS NOT CALLED AN EMERGENCY BRAKE FOR NO REASON!!! I RECENTLY ATTEMPTED RAPID ACCELERATION WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN TO AVOID A COLLISION WHERE AN ONCOMING DRIVER RAN A RED LIGHT. THE ENGINE STALLED. I HAVE EXPERIENCED OTHER SIMILAR INCIDENTS. I HAVE REPORTED THIS TO MY TOYOTA SERVICE CENTER TWICE. THE FIRST TIME I WAS TOLD TOYOTA IS AWARE OF THE CONDITION, WHICH WOULD BE ADDRESSED IN A SOFTWARE UPDATE. THE SECOND TIME I WAS TOLD MY ENGINE WAS OPERATING WITHIN NORMAL SPECIFICATION PARAMETERS, AND NO SUCH SOFTWARE UPDATE WAS FORTHCOMING. THIS RESULTS IN A 3 OR MORE SECOND DELAY OR STALL WHILE THE TRANSMISSION FINDS AN APPROPRIATE GEAR FOR THE CURRENT SPEED. MOST OF THE TIME, WHEN IT FINALLY DOES FIND A GEAR, IT IS OFTEN TOO LOW, RESULTING IN EXTREME ENGINE REVVING FOLLOWED BY COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER. WHEN LOADED WITH 10- 90LB. BAGS OF CONCRETE (900LBS.), THE TRUCK FEELS EXTREMELY UNSTABLE. I WON'T DRIVE IT ON THE FREEWAY UNDER SUCH WEIGHT. THE MANUFACTURER STATED WEIGHT LIMIT IS TON (1000LBS.) VEHICLE WAS RESCHEDULED TO CHECK FOR SOURCE OF HOT ENGINE SMELL, AT 10,000 MILE CHECKUP/OIL CHANGE 4 DAYS AFTER FIRE OCCURRED. NO RECALLS OR PENDING NOTICES KNOWN AT TIME OF INCIDENT. VEHICLE HAD STARTING PROBLEMS EVEN DURING WARM WEATHER. IN TOWN MPG SHOWED ON DASHBOARD AT 5-9.5 MPG, HWY AT 16-19.5.
THE TRANSMISSION IN THIS TRUCK SHIFTS ERRATICALLY. THE FIRST SECOND SHIFT ALTERNATES BETWEEN EXTREMELY SLOW AND HARSH ENOUGH TO MAKE THE TRUCK BUCK AND SHAKE. BECAUSE OF THIS SHIFT ISSUE POWER APPLIED AT LOW SPEEDS IS INCONSISTENT. THE TRANSMISSION SEARCHES FOR GEAR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND DOWNSHIFTS EXCESSIVELY. THE TRANSMISSION ISSUES STARTED AT APPROXIMATELY 2000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE AND ARE ONGOING. THE ISSUES OCCUR AT SPEEDS FROM 2MPH THROUGH 75MPH THESE ISSUES MAKE THE VEHICLE UNPREDICTABLE AND MORE DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. ADDITONALY THE U BOLTS HOLDING THE AXLE ONTO THE VEHICLE WERE NOT TORQUED PROPERLY FROM THE FACTORY. THE BOLTS WERE TORQUED TO APPROXIMALTY 30 FTLBS, NOT THE 52 FTLBS TOYOTA SPECIFIES, WHICH CAUSED AXLE WRAP ISSUES AND MADE THE TRANSMISSION ISSUES LISTED ABOVE WORSE.

TRANSMISSION DOES THIS ON A RANDOM BASIS IT IS TOO QUICK TO UPSHIFT CAUSING THE ENGINE TO BOG DOWN. -TRANSMISSION CAUSES THE TUCK TO LURCH FORWARD AT LOW SPEEDS. -SHIFTING FROM R TO D ON A HILL CAN SOMETIMES CAUSE THE TRUCK TO ROLL BACK AS IF THE TRUCK WAS IN NEUTRAL -IN GENERAL, THE TRANSMISSION IS INCONSISTENT IN OPERATION. IN THE SAME SITUATION, IT MAY REACT DIFFERENTLY -DURING HARD ACCELERATION AFTER YOU LET UP ON THE GAS, THE ENGINE RPM'S WILL STAY HIGH AND SLOWLY COME BACK DOWN. IF YOU PRESS THE GAS AGAIN DURING THIS TIME THE TRANSMISSION WILL EITHER CAUSE THE ENGINE TO REV BUT THE TRUCK WON'T ACCELERATE OR WILL SLAM INTO A GEAR CAUSING THE TRUCK TO LURCH. IT ALSO DOES THIS RANDOMLY THE TRANSMISSION BEING SLOW TO DOWNSHIFT TO A LOWER GEAR WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE OR IT WOULD UPSHIFT TO A HIGHER GEAR WHILE ACCELERATING/MERGING RESULTING IN AN UNEXPECTED CHANGE IN ACCELERATION.THE VEHICLE WILL ALSO "NOTICEABLY" DOWN SHIFT WHILE THE FOOT IS OFF THE ACCELERATOR RESULTING IN AN UNEXPECTED CHANGE IN DECELERATION. THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE AND NOW THE SHIFTING IS STARTING TO JOLT THE VEHICLE. WHILE DRIVING AT CONSTANT SPEEDS THE VEHICLE WILL RANDOMLY SURGE HIGH IN RPMS THEN COME RIGHT BACK DOWN. THE VEHICLE IS PRESENTING UNSAFE CONDITIONS. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES. 1ST TIME THEY TOPPED OFF THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AS IT WAS LOW FROM THE FACTORY. 2ND TIME THEY ARE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND OTHERS WERE HAVING IT AS WELL AND THE TRANSMISSION ECU WAS RE-FLASHED. THIS STILL DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. BROUGHT THE VEHICLE BACK A 3RD TIME AND THEY DIDN'T SEE A PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE. VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS LESS THAN 2500 MILES ON IT. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION TRYING TO ACCELERATE FROM A SLOW SPEED TO A HIGHER SPEED ENTERING A HIGH SPEED ROAD. THE TRUCK FAILED TO ACCELERATE AND WOULD NOT GO OVER 20 MILES AN HOUR. I HAD TO SWERVE OFF THE ROAD TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. THE TRUCK WAS TOWED TO TOYOTA SINCE ITS UNDER WARRANTY. IT WAS DIAGNOSED AND WAS TOLD I HAVE ONE OF SEVERAL TRUCKS OUT THERE THAT HAVE THIS COMPUTER ISSUE THE CAUSES THIS. 12/9/17 THERE WAS A SMALL AMOUNT OF SNOW ON MY DRIVEWAY. I ASKED HIM TO CHECK THE ATF LEVEL BECAUSE MANY PEOPLE WROTE ONLINE ABOUT LOW ATF LEVELS CAUSING THE PROBLEMS. TECH SAID THEY DO NOT SEND OUT VEHICLES WITHOUT PROPER LEVELS OF FLUIDS AND IT COULD NOT BE. I ASKED MANAGER TO MAKE SOMEONE CHECK. THEY OF COURSE WOULD NOT LET ME WATCH THEM IN THE SERVICE BAY WHEN THEY TOOK IT BACK BUT LATER INSISTED THEY DID CHECK MY ATF AND IT WAS FULL.
