Critical Deferred Risk
Critical deferred failure risk — 4 safety-critical or high-cost components are past their service interval. Without immediate attention, repair costs will compound significantly.
No odometer data on record. Mileage is estimated at ~132,000 mi based on average annual driving. Items marked EST. OVERDUE may already be due — verify service history with the seller. Items marked OVERDUE are confirmed past-due based on vehicle age alone.
EST. OVERDUECriticalTiming Chain Tensioner
Service interval: 10 yr · Vehicle age: 11 yr · Past due by age
Service Timing Chain Tensioner immediately — already past the 120,000 mi / 10 yr interval
Worn chain tensioners cause timing chain skip or snap — common on GM 5.3L/6.2L, Ford EcoBoost, VW/Audi EA888, BMW N47/N63. Listen for cold-start rattles.
EST. OVERDUECriticalWater Pump
Service interval: 8 yr · Vehicle age: 11 yr · Past due by age
Service Water Pump immediately — already past the 100,000 mi / 8 yr interval
Water pump failure causes rapid overheating. If the engine overheats even once, head gasket damage is likely — turning a $400 part into a $3,000+ repair.
EST. OVERDUEHighTransmission Fluid / Service
Service interval: 5 yr · Vehicle age: 11 yr · Past due by age
Service Transmission Fluid / Service immediately — already past the 60,000 mi / 5 yr interval
Degraded transmission fluid destroys clutch packs and solenoids. CVT transmissions are especially sensitive — neglected fluid can result in a $4,000–$8,000 replacement.
EST. OVERDUEHighCoolant Flush
Service interval: 5 yr · Vehicle age: 11 yr · Past due by age
Service Coolant Flush immediately — already past the 100,000 mi / 5 yr interval
Degraded coolant loses corrosion inhibitors and attacks aluminum engine components. Can cause head gasket failure and water pump corrosion.
EST. OVERDUEModerateSpark Plugs (iridium/platinum)
Service interval: 8 yr · Vehicle age: 11 yr · Past due by age
Service Spark Plugs (iridium/platinum) immediately — already past the 100,000 mi / 8 yr interval
Worn spark plugs cause misfires that can foul and crack catalytic converters. A $150 tune-up can prevent a $1,200 catalytic converter replacement.
EST. OVERDUEModerateFuel Injectors
Service interval: 10 yr · Vehicle age: 11 yr · Past due by age
Service Fuel Injectors immediately — already past the 120,000 mi / 10 yr interval
Dirty or failing injectors cause rough idle, reduced fuel economy, and increased emissions. Cleaning costs $100–$200; replacement $800–$1,600.

My car was involved with an accident regarding a pothole and had an immediate loss of electronic power steering upon impact. Upon inspection by multiple certified technicians and adjusters, they noticed corrosion around the same bolts related to a recall for the same vehicle, but a different model/lot production: 15S14/19S26. This was a known corrosion defect, which is allegedly now causing the same issue with this model vehicle, causing extremely dangerous driving conditions which could lead to potential major incidents such as these. This now makes me question every vehicle from Ford Lincoln, or steering component related assembly recalls from corrosion when hitting any kind of potholes or larger contact areas.

I noticed that Ford issued recalls for select 2015 vehicles in May for issues with the backup camera. I have a 2015 Lincoln MKZ that just started experiencing the same issues that were mentioned in the May 2025 Ford backup camera recall. My camera will work for the first few seconds while in reverse, then the screen will go black. It has happened all 4 times I have driven my car today and put it in reverse. I occasionally receive a message on my display screen to "contact my dealership." I have 3 children [XXX] , [XXX] and [XXX]) and it is extremely scary to back out of my driveway with the possibility that one of them could be back there and I would not be able to see them. I would be more than happy to provide my vehicle for inspection. I have not had time to take the vehicle into the dealership but I am hoping to do that within the next week. I did not receive any warning messages and no warning lights appeared. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

After reading about the numerous complaints about this vehicles transmission issues I have decided to come here. The PCM and TCM need to be changed in the vehicle. Causing rough shifts from 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th which essentially will cause you to replace the transmission because of the damage it causes. Also constantly having drive control malfunction, check headlamp system messages popping up. There is also horrendous noise from the rear suspension any time you go over any type of anomaly in the road.

I called the dealership I bought the car from, Oxmoor Ford, Louisville, Ky and they said they don’t service Lincoln products anymore and referred me to Bill Collins Ford. I called them this morning and they haven’t called me back. I do have AAA, so I can have the car towed to the dealership. I need my car, what do I do?

I have previously filed complaint on this vehicle with no satisfaction. I have a Lincoln 2015 MKZ. This vehicle has a low front end clearance which I believe to be a serious safety concern. The front bumper is only 7 1/2 inches off the ground. Most cars are at least 9 plus inches off the ground. This car can not traverse any type of graded driveway or access road. The front bumper constantly hits the ground which inevitably can and has caused damage to the vehicle. I.E. damage to wheels, radiator, lights, engine not to mention the bumper itself. I have contacted Lincoln and they are indifferent to my complaint. This should have been rectified years ago but was ignored by Lincoln. The company probably should have provided all owners of record of a Lincoln MKZ with a factory authorized lift kit which could have raised the bumper at least 1 1/2 inches. I have contacted Lincoln several times but they ignore my complaints. I believe there should be a recall to rectify this problem. This is certainly a potentially dangerous situation. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

I drove my 2015 Lincoln MKZ in to my driveway which is not steep grade and the front bumper hit the drive way and ripped the bumper. This car has very low front end. I called Lincoln up and complained about this low bumper problem. Lincoln customer service just blew me off. They acted like I was first person ever to complain. When I told them that You Tube Video has this problem listed they ignored me. This would not be a big deal if the bumper was 2 piece and all that had to be replaced was a bumper guard but the replacemrnt bumper covers the whole front end. Replacement bumper runs between $500 - $700. Labor to replace bumper runs from $500 - $1000 depending on shop. This is outrageous. Lincoln knew of this problem for years and did nothing to fix the problem. The least Lincoln should do is replace the bumper at no charge and provide me with discounted installation charge. What can I do? I covered the crack with tape so it would not spread but this looks terrible!

While driving, the right front brake hose ruptured, releasing a large amount of brake fluid, dropping the brake pedal to the floor and causing a sudden loss of braking power. I have the faulty hose in my possession. I was not able to brake while driving out of the mountains in Tennessee. My wife and I consider ourselves lucky to be alive. Had it happened minutes earlier, we would not be here to tell you about it or to show you the faulty part. The faulty hose was inspected and replaced by an auto mechanic. I advised our local Lincoln dealer/service and I also spoke to the Lincoln Concierge service about what should be considered an ongoing safety hazard. I am hoping to show it to you and anyone else that may be familiar with an identical issue regarding the Ford Edge/MKX version of the same brake hoses. MY 2015 MKZ STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS IN SEPTEMBER 2020 WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AS WELL AS THE INDICATOR FOR LOW ENGINE OIL PRESSURE, BOTH COMING ON WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION. WE PURCHASED THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WITH THE VEHICLE AND AFTER TAKING IT TO FORD AUTO NATION IN PANAMA CITY, THEY TOLD US IT WAS THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. THEY DID NOT TEST WHY THE LOW ENGINE OIL PRESSURE INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON, ONLY STATING IT WAS DUE TO THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. I HAD TO CALL THEM TWICE TO EVEN GET AN UPDATE ON MY VEHICLE AS NO ONE WOULD CALL ME REGARDING THE ISSUES. WE THEN BROUGHT IT TO THE LOCAL MECHANIC WE USUALLY USE AND THEY STATED THE CAR HAD TWO EMISSION RECALLS/BULLETINS; ONE FOR THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND THE SECOND FOR THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE REPROGRAMMING ( WHICH I HAVE COPIES OF). AFTER TAKING IT BACK TO FORD AUTO NATION PANAMA CITY, THEY STATED THESE TWO RECALLS DID NOT APPLY TO MY VEHICLE AND WOULD NOT HELP US, EVEN AFTER GIVING THEM COPIES OF SUCH PAPERWORK. THEY STATED THAT JUST BECAUSE THE RECALLS/BULLETINS PULLED UP WITH MY VIN NUMBER, IT DID NOT MEAN THOSE WERE APPLICABLE TO MY VEHICLE. SINCE THE INCIDENT WITH FORD AUTO NATION PANAMA CITY, MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE LOCAL MECHANICS SHOP 3 TIMES FOR REPAIR TO THE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH, 2 DIFFERENT O2 SENSORS (FRONT LEFT AND BACK RIGHT) ALONG WITH CHANGING OUT OF SPARK PLUGS AS THE CORRECT ONES WERE NEVER INSTALLED AND A HUGE GAP WAS FOUND BETWEEN THEM ( I PURCHASED THIS CAR ONE YEAR AGO). THE CODES FOR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ALL THREE TIMES HAVE SHOWN THE O2 SENSORS AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER. I WANT MY CAR REPAIRED PROPERLY AND MY FUNDS REIMBURSED AS THIS WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED IF FORD AUTO NATION PANAMA CITY WOULD HAVE REPAIRED MY VEHICLE PROPERLY WHEN WE PROVIDED THEM THE PAPERWORK REGARDING THE EMISSION RECALLS/BULLETINS.

TWICE THE SEAT AND STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT ADJUST TO THE MEMORY SETTINGS. THE SEAT STAYED RECLINED AND THE STEERING WHEEL REMAINED UPWARD. I PUSH THE LEVERS TO MOVE THE SEAT AND STEERING WHEEL MANUALLY IN ORDER TO DRIVE AND REACH THE PEDALS, AND TO SEE ABOVE THE STEERING WHEEL BUT NEITHER WOULD MOVE. I HAD TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE CAREFULLY TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP, BARELY REACHING THE ACCELERATOR AND BRAKE PEDALS WITH THE STEERING WHEEL RAISED, PARTIALLY COVERING MY VISION. 2) THE MOST CRITICAL RECENT SAFETY RISK (WHICH MADE ITS VISIT #14 TO THE FORD SERVICE DEPT) IS WHEN THE VEHICLE ABRUPTLY SHUTT OFF WHILE IN MOTION IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET AS I WAS ABOUT TO ENTER THE FREEWAY. WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED COMPLETELY IN THE STREET, I WAS DRIVING APPROX 30MPH AND A RED "POWER ACCESSORY" LIGHT LIT UP. I DID NOT UPLOAD ALL THE REPAIR INVOICES. THERE ARE TOO MANY TO UPLOAD; HOWEVER I DO KEEP COPIES.

IN 20K MILES ENTIRE CAR STOPPED WORKING AFTER IN GARAGE OVER WEEKEND AND NO LIGHTS WERE ON, NO ISSUE WAS FOUND INITIALLY BUT BATTERY WAS CHANGED ONCE IN A NEW CAR IN LESS THAN 2 YEARS. CAN CAN SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING?

ODI #10852217EXTERIOR LIGHTING

I BOUGHT A NEW 2015 LINCOLN MKZ. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALER FOR SOME ROUTINE SERVICE AND MENTIONED THAT THE SINGLE BACK UP LIGHT IS WAY TOO DIM. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID THAT THERE IS NO ADJUSTMENT TO IT. NO ACCIDENT JUST SOMETHING THAT I NOTICED WHEN BACKING UP IN THE DARK.

ODI #10748240VISIBILITY/WIPER

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 LINCOLN MKZ. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WERE AIR BUBBLES IN THE WINDSHIELD AND ALL WINDOWS OF THE VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THERE WAS A GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD DIMINISHING THE CONTACT'S VISION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS AWARE OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V484000 (VISIBILITY); HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6.

ODI #10677105VEHICLE SPEED CONTROLCRASH

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 LINCOLN MKZ. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT A LOW SPEED ATTEMPTING TO ENGAGE THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A BUILDING AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,200. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

Chart Analysis

The blue line shows 73 total NHTSA complaints filed over 12 years, with the worst year being 2022 (10 complaints, including 1 crash report).

The amber reliability line averaged 59/100 across the vehicle's life — dropping as low as 26 in 2022 when complaint severity peaked.

The recalls (red dashed lines) followed the first complaints by 1 year — a typical response window; neither unusually fast nor a pattern of denial.

Red dots on the amber line flag 4 years (2015, 2017, 2018, 2022) where complaints included crash events — these are the highest-severity incidents in the dataset.
