I was driving on freeway and went to pass a semi. The suv hesitated and had terrible turbo lag. It almost caused an accident if it hadn’t been for the truck behind me taking action to avoid a collision.

The vehicle experienced multiple instances of sudden engine stall and loss of motive power while navigating active downtown intersections and airport terminal lanes in Atlanta, GA. These failures occurred without warning, leaving the vehicle immobilized in high-traffic areas, including a turn in a multi-lane roadway. This defect creates an unreasonable risk of a rear-end collision or being stranded in hazardous traffic conditions. Incident Chronology: Initial Failure: In February 2026, the vehicle stalled in an intersection. After a manual reset of the Check Engine Light (CEL), the vehicle stalled again during a turn. Diagnostic codes P228C (Fuel Pressure Regulator 1 Exceeded Control Limits) and P0089 (Fuel Pressure Regulator 1 Performance) were present. First Attempted Repair: The dealership performed a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB)/recall procedure to calibrate the fuel pump and pressure sensors. Recurrence: Immediately upon retrieval, the vehicle stalled again in a "no parking" zone at a major airport after 45 minutes of operation. The vehicle would not restart or maintain idle, necessitating a second tow. Final Repair: The dealership replaced the fuel pump assembly. Additional Safety Concerns: Approximately 4,000 miles prior to the fuel pump failure, the vehicle experienced multiple "Reduced Engine Power" events and "Service ESC" flashes while traveling at highway speeds (approx. 70 mph) in rainy conditions. The dealership replaced all fuel injectors and spark plugs at that time. Manufacturer Response: Despite the "Engine" designation of the diagnostic codes, GM initially claimed the fuel pump was not covered under the powertrain warranty. While partial assistance was provided for repairs, the recurring nature of these stalls suggests a significant reliability issue with the high-pressure fuel system components and engine.

Within the past two months, I have experienced multiple significant mechanical failures that raise serious concerns about the reliability and safety of this vehicle. First, the air conditioning compressor failed at approximately 55,000 miles. This was an unexpected and costly repair for a vehicle that is only two years old and has been properly maintained. Shortly thereafter, the fuel pump failed. I became aware there was a recall related to the fuel system; however, when the dealership ran my VIN, it did not populate under the recall campaign. Despite this, the component still failed. Now, I am experiencing continued stalling and drivability issues, particularly when coming to a stop or when the automatic start/stop system engages at traffic lights. Based on the symptoms, I believe the secondary fuel pump may also be malfunctioning. A vehicle stalling in traffic creates a clear safety hazard. I rely on this vehicle daily, and repeated fuel system failures at this mileage are unacceptable. I am requesting the following: A full diagnostic review of the fuel system under manufacturer oversight Consideration for coverage or reimbursement of recent repairs Investigation into whether my vehicle should have been included in the applicable recall Assurance that this vehicle is safe to operate I have maintained this vehicle appropriately and did not expect major component failures at 55,000 miles. I am extremely concerned about both reliability and safety moving forward. Please advise on next steps and how Chevrolet intends to address this matter.

Luckily there was a pull off on the freeway or I would have been on a blind turn with cars going 70mph. Had to have pump replaced at a local shop as there was no recall for 2023. 2021 and 2022 have the recall for this specific component.

The contact stated that while driving at approximately 65 MPH, he observed a "reduced engine power " message appear and the check engine warning light illuminated. Additionally, the vehicle lost power. The vehicle was steered to the side of the road, where the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was not able to restart immediately, but it restarted 45 minutes later, the failure persisted. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred approximately five months later. The contact stated that during the last failure the vehicle was not able to be restarted. The vehicle was towed to the same independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump and the entire fuel pump system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the parts being on a national backorder. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000.

My car has a vibration, I went to the dealer after one week of buying it, they first told me it has a learning transmission and after it learns how I drive it will go away. I later found out there is not such thing, the vibration at first was at slow speeds 30 t0 40 mph. I made a complaint to gm and the dealer, the dealer felt the vibration but could find what was the cause and said gm has to receive several complaints and considered this normal, I have taken it back for service a advised them gain of the ,problem and was told they could not fine the problem to wait until it get worse . I took it back over 6 times with no answers. My last time they said there was slippage in the torque converter but gm would not do anything and told me to wait until it gets worse, it now vibrates from 2 mph to 60 mph and makes a low growling noise, the dealer has felt the vibration every time I had them drive it, I new from the start if was in transmission it now will be three years with no correction, I know vibration can cause other problems which could loosen something else, I do not feal safe and will not drive it out of town. All I get from the dealer is they now know it is in the trans, but keeps telling me to bring it back when it gets worse. I cannot accept that, they keep using this as a excuse not to fix the problem. What else can I do?, I know other gm suv have the same problem but gm will not admit to the problem until they get more complaints. what

I have had injector and pipe replaced, ecm updated and now its going back to dealer as it is currently broke down again.

Car has only 58,249 miles on it. I refused repair and told them there were several recalls, but not for my year. Apparently this is a major problem with the Chevy Equinox.

Myself and my children’s safety was put at risk multiple times when the vehicle shut off multiple times and sputtering going into reduced power mode and the vehicle shutting off multiple times after it is started for at least 5-10 seconds. Yea the issue was fixed through a local Chevrolet dealership after having the vehicle for only two months and now the issues has reproduced after three months of being repaired the vehicle is back at the dealership with the same issues and awaiting a diagnostic. Vehicle is now at the dealership to be inspected and GM has been contacted regarding the issue Yes after the vehicle sputtered and died displaying the check engine light afterwards with the smell of fuel immediately after this was the first time this happens two months after vehicle purchase and the second time was 90 days after vehicle was fixed

[XXX], my vehicle suddenly stopped at a speed of 55 miles on [XXX] in Miami and the car dashboard showed a lack of gasoline power that the gas pump stopped working, braking the car abruptly and with a high risk that a vehicle could collide with me at high speed. I had to pay for a tow truck to the Chevrolet Auto National Doral dealership in Miami. The vehicle only had 28,000 miles and it took a month to repair the vehicle. Time passes and on [XXX] the same thing happens to me at a speed of 60 miles on [XXX] in the city of West Palm Beach, the vehicle failed and braked abruptly and stopped working with the same risk that a vehicle could hit me. I had to request a tow truck for the area dealership AutoNation Chevrolet Greenacres and they tell me that the warranty had expired because the vehicle has 54,000 miles explaining that the car has had the same problem on several occasions and that it was a factory problem and that it had been repaired recently in a year and they tell me that I have to pay $ 1,000 dollars for the repair and I want to file this complaint so that an inspection is done on that entire vehicle because they all have the same problem and they should not charge the customer for a problem due to factory defects in this vehicle. The fuel pump on my 2023 Chevrolet Equinox began malfunctioning on [XXX] when the check engine light came on. Less than 24 hours later, the light went out. On [XXX], while leaving a CVS pharmacy, the vehicle jerked, then the engine shut off. After putting the car in park, I was able to restart the car and continue on. On [XXX], the check engine light illuminated again. While sitting at a stop light in the turn lane, as I began to push the accelerator, the vehicle once again jerked and the engine shut-off, almost causing the vehicle behind me to collide. I was able to restart the car and continue on my way. On 3/21/25, I took the car to the local Chevrolet dealership (Integrity Chevrolet in Chattanooga, TN). After inspecting the car, the dealer informed me the high-pressure fuel pump and fuel pump module was bad and had to be replaced. The service manager agreed this failure was not the result of operator error and should NOT have failed after only 2.5 years of normal use. The conditions/symptoms are almost exactly the same as those described in GM recall notice N222372310 (dated 5/23/23). Fuel pump. It’s available for inspection. Left me stuck on the side of a busy highway with cars flying past. Check engine light. A message said engine power reduced had to take side streets home with hazard lights. Car would not accelerate or go over 40 mph on a 45 mph road. I had the check engine light checked at auto zone. No the vehicle has not been inspected. No warning lights before. I pushed the gas pedal down and the car had no power, started to sputter message popped up on the dash that said engine power reduced and check engine light was on. Blower cuts out. Random vents will work, others don’t or struggle. Zero airflow out of the rear vents. Excessive water drips out of vehicle from several spots while either minimal or no exhaust coming from tailpipe. Sometimes exhaust comes from under the hood. Transmission shifts when it shouldn’t and doesn’t when it should. Grinding sensation from gas pedal upon accelerating. Very sluggish. No power. Rpms reach 3000-4000 trying to accelerate down steep inclines. Gravity is no match for this vehicle. Long shifts cause vehicle to remain in a state of constant braking. Getting only 18 mpg. Can’t maintain speed. Every shift is felt in pedals and steering wheel. Pulls to different sides after each shift. Power steering much too tight and difficult to turn. Numerous times fuel has failed to reach the engine. Not having control of acceleration, steering and no winter warmth is dangerous. At best. It’s downright deadly. DePaula Chevrolet will do absolutely nothing. GM corporate was also no help. This vehicle is destroying me financially and cost me my job. These problems have been happening daily since two miles after I left the lot on the date of purchase.

Entering a freeway off-ramp at about 65 mph, I depressed the brakes and the brake pedal went to the floor with little resistance. Two error messages were displayed on the dashboard: "Brake System Failure - 62 MPH Top Speed" and "Service ESC". The following dashboard lights came on: Check Engine, Brake, ESC, ABS. I held the brake pedal to the floor and coasted to a complete stop at the intersection, then proceeded slowly into a nearby parking lot and stopped. Braking effort did not become difficult, rather it was reduced to a small fraction of normal braking power. An online search indicated that disconnecting/reconnecting the negative battery terminal might resolve the problem, and it did, allowing me to carefully drive home with full braking. The local Chevrolet dealer replaced the brake system control module based on GM document 5081450.

I was able to pull a drain plug in the rear spare tire well to remove that water. The moisture in the vehicle condensates on the inside windshield, moon/sunroof and the rear back glass making it difficult to leave in an emergency without first wiping all the window down with a towel. FYI: I am the brother of the vehicle owner. She has stage 4 lung cancer and I am handling things for her.

Unable to turn the car over after a few attempts, the car finally started back up after 5 seconds of cranking. Tow to certified Dealer where they confirmed 4 codes were being presented by the car. The codes are: P0089 - fuel pressure regulator performance P00C6 - fuel rail pressure low during engine cranking P228C - fuel pressure regulator 1 low pressure P0171 - fuel trim system lean The Dealer was unable to replicate the issue and is unable to fix or repair any part. On November 15th 2023 I reported ongoing issue and scheduled to return the vehicle for November 16, 2023, as I was driving to the dealership my car started stalling as I was going around a semi truck and a on coming car almost hit my car, Engine Light says Engine power reduced came on and I had to slowly drive the car in. Later the following day I was told my vehicle has a defective fuel pump. Vehicle has been at the dealership more than 15 days with no ETA of repair. General Motors has been notified and working to resolve again with no ETA. From what I was told this is not the only vehicle that has a defective fuel pump.

I intended to pull the vehicle behind my RV using a tow dolly. I loaded the vehicle on the tow dolly per the owner’s manual and left the key fob in my RV. After about 15 mins, we began our trip and the vehicle pulled behind without issue. About 10 miles down the road, I stopped to check the securement straps to make sure they were still tight and I also needed to check the steering strap to make sure it was still tight as well. After doing so, we proceeded down the road for a very short distance (approx 100 feet or so) when we noticed smoke behind us. We immediately pulled over and observed that the rear tires were locked up by the emergency brake setting on the vehicle. We tried several times to get the vehicle to release the emergency brakes, only to have the emergency brake reset on its own after pulling the vehicle forward only a couple of feet. We ended up taking the vehicle off the dolly only to discover that the two rear tires had already been ruined by flat spots on them. Come to find later, by reading on the vehicle forums of our particular year and model, that others were experiencing the same issue. It was discovered through reading the forums the vehicles electronics need to go to sleep (approx 10-15 minutes) before you can safely tow the vehicle. This makes sense to me now, because we had no issue when we first started on our trip. The issue didn’t occur until we had to get into the vehicle using the key fob. My main concern here is that this should be included in the owner’s manual as part of the steps or at least a cautionary to tow on a dolly. This is definitely a safety issue, as the tires could have blown or started a fire if I continued down the road without notice.As it stands, I will be required to purchase two new tires to replace the rear tires that only had 2,000 miles on them. I made contact with Chevrolet customer service on 11/13/2023 to advise them of the issue and they should consider including more detail in the owner’s manual.

The issue has occurred on numerous occasions and could be easily reproduced under actual towing conditions. The written Owners Manual that came with the vehicle when purchased new states clearly the that dinghy towing is allowed. We purchased specifically with that in mind and talked to the dealer at length about our intention of dinghy towing it. A case has been opened with GM and the vehicle has been assessed by 2 different Chevrolet dealers. No obvious defects have been found by the dealers. The issue is unresolved and offers to reproduce the problem under actual towing conditions has not been accepted by the dealers or GM. This should be viewed a significant safety issue with possible damage risks to the tow and towed vehicles, towing equipment as well as safety of those driving/riding in the RV and also for other drivers around us.

When towing it, we have noticed that when going around certain turns such as a cloverleaf on or off ramp, as you are in the turn, the tires start screeching loudly, you can smell burning rubber, and the RV feels like it's being tugged on by the car. As soon as the RV goes straight again, the screeching and tugging stop. This does not happen when turning a corner at a stop sign or stop light. We did not notice any warning lights on in the car after stopping to check on the vehicle. I feel this is a big safety issue for those driving/riding in the RV and also for other drivers around us as we do not know the stress this is putting on our Equinox tow connection setup, the frame of the Equinox or the RV hitch system. This issue is happening to other 2023 Equinox owners and we all have different RV's and various tow equipment setups. The common factor is the Equinox. I have not reported this to the dealer yet but plan to do so today.

MY 2023 Equinox owner's manual states that the Equinox can be safely flat towed behind a motorhome with all four wheels on the ground. I bought the vehicle based on this statement in the owners manual. However, when flat towing the Equinox behind a motorhome through turns such as cloverleaf offramp of freeways that have a banked side to the turn the brakes on the car lock and the car loses traction and slides. The Equinox tires make a loud screeching noise and the smell of burning rubber is noticed. This condition begins shortly after the Equinox enters the turn and ends once the Equinox completes the turn. This happens at or below the posted speed limit on these off-ramps. The loss of controlled traction of the Equinox in a freeway offramp presents a safety hazard because I can no longer ensure that the Equinox is moving in a controlled path. I am also concerned that the stresses being applied to the hitch of the motorhome and the structure of the Equinox from being dragged around a freeway curve may result in damage to structural elements of both vehicles that are designed to prevent disconnection of the car from the motorhome. This might result in a failure of the hitch connection resulting in a runaway vehicle. I brought this issue to GM's attention and there has been no fix to date.

The 2023 Equinox owner's manual states that the Equinox can be flat towed behind a motorhome with all four wheels on the ground. I bought the vehicle based on this representation for towing behind our motorhome. When towing thorough turns at certain speeds and of certain radius and duration, the Equinox tires make a loud screeching noise and the smell of burning rubber is noticed. This condition begins shortly after the Equinox enters the turn and ends once the Equinox completes the turn. A video camera inside the Equinox shows the steering wheel vibrating strongly left/right accompanied by the screeching noise, and the degree to which the steering wheel rotates during the turn is LESS than when the Equinox is driven through the same turn. (See video at https://youtu.be/vEMAQiKWW64?t=14). The driver of the motorhome feels a lagging or pulling sensation against the motorhome, as if the Equinox is applying its brakes throughout the turn. I am concerned that a vehicle that applies its brakes while being towed through a turn is a safety hazard to those in the motorhome and to other drivers on the road. It may be causing unknown damage to components of the Equinox, its towing base plate, as well as to the motorhome towing equipment, tow hitch, and chassis. I brought this issue to GM's attention and there has been no fix to date.

While four wheel down towing my 2023 Equinox behind my motorhome, under certain road conditions, the tires can be heard squealing and burnt rubber can be seen and smelt. I put a camera in the car to record the event and during the described events the steering wheel can be seen shaking violently. This type of event occurs consistently on cloverleaf type on and off ramps and other roads that have somewhat tight turns that are banked. I am correctly towing the car per GM's published dingy towing instructions for the 2023 Equinox. I have ten years experience towing a 2011 Equinox with the same set up that have been trouble free. In May of 2023 I reported the issue to my dealer and sent the videos. GM opened a case, 9-9951144997, but to date no resolution for the problem. This is a serious safety concern for me and my family travelling in the motorhome and my concern extends to others on the highway. When you can hear the tires squealing from inside a diesel pusher motorhome and view on video how violent the event is, the safety of towing the 2023 Equinox has to be questioned.

2023 Equinox tires lock up on cloverleaf on/off ramps when being flat towed behind a motorhome. The safety concern has occurred several times on cloverleaf on/off ramps. Proper procedures for flat towing per GM user manual do not resolve the problem. The Blue Ox towing package was installed by professionals. Dealership has been in contact with General Motors technician and no solution has been found. Safety of passengers in motorhome as well as other vehicles on the roadways are put at risk for accident due to skidding and visible tire smoke of Equinox. The skidding and visible smoke tire are concerns as excessive forces to the hitch, tow bar and baseplate as well as the Equinox front suspension and electronic system could compromise safety. It's likely a cumulative effect of repeated tire lock ups could accelerate and compromise safety even further. Internet research has yielded similar safety concerns for this same problem with no solution from GM. On September 7, a phone call complaint was filed with GM; we are awaiting a case number. Letters including a detailed chronology were mailed to the Chevrolet dealership and GM on September 9. Please contact me if you wish to see this information.

On Aug 6, I started my car and tried to apply the brakes. My foot went all the way to the floorboards. The Brake warning lamp and stability warning lamps came on and would not go away. I tried restarting the car and the problem remained. The brakes were not properly functioning. On August 7, I took my car to the dealership. They saw the warning lamps, but the brakes were working. GM told them to just clear the codes and let me drive it. The service manager would not and is waiting for a part (5 weeks later). I will also include the information from OnStar with the codes.

Vehicle was set up per manual to be flat towed behind our motorhome. We followed the set-up steps according to the manual exactly. When driving and applying the brakes for more than a few seconds the front tires would lock up and squeal. This same situation happened when making a hard curve like a cloverleaf exit ramp.

Went to the grocery store, bought $300 worth of stuff, loaded it all in the back. Driving home, one of the bags full of bottles of wine fell over. Upon arriving home, tried to slowly and partially open the lift gate to prevent items from falling out. Hit button to open lift gate. With left hand, tried to slow down the opening while with right hand, reached in to catch loose bottles. Apparently my providing resistance to slow the opening was interpreted as some kind of "problem" causing the opening to reverse and causing the lift gate to close on my right arm. I now have a large abrasion and bruise on my right arm where the lift gate tried to eat my arm. If the lift gate had a manual opening, I could have opened it at my desired speed but there is only an automatic opening with its default speed. When this is combined with the automatic reversal, you have a people eater. I tried to report this to Chevrolet but could not find anything in their many websites where a safety issue can be reported.

While attempting accelerate on the highway at 70 MPH the car entered "Engine power reduced" mode resulting in the car to slow down. This reduced speed resulted in a few near misses on the highway. The check engine light than began to flash for about 15 seconds before all the messages went away and normal driving conditions occurred. Taking it into the dealership they pulled from the computer the issue of "multiple cylinder misfire" but could not replicate the issue. I also filed a ticket with GM letting them know of a potentially deadly issue but they sided with the dealer stating the car was operating within normal parameters since they could not duplicate the issue. The weather prior to the issue was rainy.

The contact's wife owns a 2023 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the check engine, ECM, and traction control warning lights illuminated. The contact also stated that the vehicle failed to accelerate above 60 MPH, with the accelerator pedal depressed to the floorboard. The contact stated that on several occasions, the vehicle failed to turn off or start up while depressing the START/STOP button. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed with a loss of communication codes; however, the dealer was not certain of how to repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired and remained in the possession of the dealer. The failure mileage was 5,321.

Getting vibration and loud noise at 35 to 40 mph since taking delivery. Have contacted dealership and they are waiting for GM to respond. I have seen similar complaints about drive line and drive axle complaints for earlier model year Chevrolet equinox.

I went to the gas station to fill the car with gas. I pulled along the pumps and put on the brakes but they failed and I applied again failed again so I put into netural and ran into a pole. I called GM and they checked the brakes could not find any problem. I ask if they checked the computer but they didn't know. the Equinox only had 170 miles on it. That is my problem.
