Lemon law eligibility depends on state law, number of repair attempts, and days out of service. Consult an attorney for actual eligibility.
Worn chain tensioners cause timing chain skip or snap — common on GM 5.3L/6.2L, Ford EcoBoost, VW/Audi EA888, BMW N47/N63. Listen for cold-start rattles.
Water pump failure causes rapid overheating. If the engine overheats even once, head gasket damage is likely — turning a $400 part into a $3,000+ repair.
Degraded transmission fluid destroys clutch packs and solenoids. CVT transmissions are especially sensitive — neglected fluid can result in a $4,000–$8,000 replacement.
Degraded coolant loses corrosion inhibitors and attacks aluminum engine components. Can cause head gasket failure and water pump corrosion.
Worn spark plugs cause misfires that can foul and crack catalytic converters. A $150 tune-up can prevent a $1,200 catalytic converter replacement.
Dirty or failing injectors cause rough idle, reduced fuel economy, and increased emissions. Cleaning costs $100–$200; replacement $800–$1,600.
Documented systemic defect with class action or NHTSA investigation. These issues are often unrepaired at point of sale.
1 death reported across 178 complaints — a rate of 1 in 178 complaints involving a fatality.
The transmission started slipping in 1st and 2nd gear.
I have come to find that this vehicle suffers from premature slave cylinder failure, there are roughly 62,000 miles on the vehicle. Typical failure is reported to Ford between 70,000 and 80,000 miles. First symptoms appeared at roughly 58,000 miles. As I am a single father and a full time communications worker, I was not able to address this issue immediately upon discovering the initial symptoms as it would need further diagnosis. Clutch hydraulic fluids appear to be well sealed and clean. The design flaw with this system should be relatively obvious to a major automobile manufacturer such as Ford. The excessive temperatures caused by the transmission can and will affect any hydraulic systems severely. There are no avenues in which the temperatures can escape due to the bell housing of the transmission encasing the slave cylinder. In my experience as a prior automotive technician, most manual transmission automobiles place the cylinder in a more reasonable location, for example, beside the break booster in a 1991 Dodge Stealth. When observing the firewall in this location on this model of vehicle I can confidently say there is enough room to place a clutch slave cylinder in this location. The current placement appears to be for no other reason then planned obsolescence. Vehicle has stalled in traffic multiple times, cannot complete shifts due to clutch pedal sticking to floor. Inability to properly operate transmission as expected per mileage with a manual vehicle is a safety hazard. This is a safety concern due to limited ability to engage warning lights being that the shifter needs to be operated as well as the vehicle needing to be steered. Inability to depress the clutch to mechanical certainty limits the drivers ability to confidently navigate to a safe area to assess the vehicle's possible malfunctions. This limits the ability to warn other motorists on the roadways, which can cause accidents that may also cause injury/fatality depending on the speeds driven.

Customer satisfaction program 16B11 covers a faulty high speed cooling fan relay. This bulletin was issued on April 5, 2016. I purchased the vehicle on [XXX]. An incorrect relay was installed at the factory, and the program should have replaced the relay with the correct part. This was not performed on my vehicle before I purchased it from Sheehy Ford of Ashland. The faulty relay failed, melting the fuse box in the process and causing the vehicle to overheat and cause permanent severe engine damage. Remnants of the melted relay show the part number, which matches the obsolete part number. Visual comparison of the faulty relay matches the obsolete part as well, and differs from the correct superseded part number relay outlined in the 16B11 bulletin. Ford Motor Company insists my vehicle was not a part of this program and any repairs will not be covered. The build date, make/model/engine, assembly plant and most importantly, part number of the relay and mode of failure exactly match the 16B11 CSP bulletin. Ford denies that there is any issue with my vehicle. Local Ford dealers refer me to Ford Motor Company to escalate this problem, but Ford refuses to investigate. Symptoms: No-start condition (wouldn't crank w/o jump); delayed or harsh shifting; lost power (stalled going up tiny hill). Warning lights: transmission malfunction - service now; check engine light. Our symptoms and warning lights are consistent with Ford's Fiesta Transmission Control Module recall, however the VIN for our car is not part of the original recall. We meet all of Ford's recall eligibility criteria: reported before June 30, 2025; vehicle is less than 10 years old; vehicle has fewer than 150,000 miles. By virtue of the symptoms, warning lights and meeting Ford's other criteria strongly suggest our VIN should be included in the recall.

The TCM was defective. It has been known that the TCM, transmission control modules are defective for Ford Fiestas and Focus. My daughter was driving the car and it stalled. If she was in heavy traffic are making a turn when this happened she could have been seriously injured. Ford said that they fixed this issue in the 2015 editions, that's why they stop the recall for 2016 models, but they really did not fix the problem. The vehicle was taken to a Ford dealership in Wisconsin and they confirmed all this information to me. And eight hundred dollars was paid to fix a problem that is on a recall for most models except the 2016, because they supposedly fixed the problem.

Trunk latch releases randomly. Like so many other people with this generation of Ford Fiesta. They have taken them in for the same issue and told they don't by the shop that they don't know what the problem is. The problem is random so getting to to happen while at the shop is next to impossible. If the problem can't be reproduced by a garage mechanic, how would Insurance, or police have any luck? There needs to be a recall, because some people are having them pop open while driving at night, and all of a sudden the interior lights come on, safety hazard!!! Some will pop open and kill the battery because the dome light comes on when the trunk opens. Then you're standing in subzero temperatures trying to jump start the car. That in and of itself is a safety issue. No warning lights are associated with this.

Vehicle was traveling on an interstate highway when the oil indicator lamp lit, and the car immediately lost power, putting it in danger of being rear-ended. I researched any recalls and found "Part 573 Safety Recall Report 23V-905", which only covers two different models, the Focus and the Eco Sport, with precisely the same EcoBoost 1.0 Liter engine. I recently sent it to an independent service station to perform that which the recall describes, as a recall notice did not happen, but the service foreman stated it cannot be successfully repaired, as the oiling system was completely compromised, causing catastrophic damage to the valves, cylinders, turbo system, and vacuum pump.

This car has a double clutch transmission that was done overseas evidently this car's transmission does not run right and I've had it tested out at a mechanic shop the transmission slips gears does not operate correctly I was told by the mechanic that is not a normal transmission it can cause an accident you put your foot on the gas the car will rev into the wrong speed stay keep the tachometer running in the red and could cause a serious accident to other people and that Ford will not fix it as it was manufactured incorrectly the first time this car is dangerous and now I'm stuck paying for a used car that could cause an accident Ford denies any culpability.
2016 Ford Fiesta with vin: [XXX] with build date of 7/20/2015 at Cuautitlan plant with 6 speed Powershift auto transmission. Current miles on vehicle are 128,842. Ford Motor Company issued Customer Satisfaction Program (CSP) 14M02 on 6/14/2015. Since this date there have been 7 supplements to this program. The changes are that they are covering more vehicles with this KNOWN defective transmission. The first supplement covers vehicles with build date before 10/15/2014 and the most up to date supplement covers vehicles with build date before 6/30/2015. All of the supplements cover the same transmission. This is the transmission that my Fiesta has. I have spoken with the Ford Vehicle Concern team numerous times requesting to speak with Stacy Balzer, Operating Director, service Engineering Operations, Ford Customer Service Division since she is the one that has been signing the updated supplements. Ford has issued Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) 16-0129 that includes my specific vehicle. My complaint is that Ford Motor Company knows that my transmission is defective per TSB 16-0129 but the latest CSP 14M02 supplement dates don’t currently cover my vehicle. My Fiesta would be covered if it was built 20 days earlier. I see this as an extremely shady form of business and instead of waiting until they issue another supplement that would probably cover my vehicle I have chosen to make a written complaint. The NHTSA website has 88 power train complaints towards a 2015 Ford Fiesta (currently being covered in CSP 14M02) and has 86 power train complaints towards a 2016 Ford Fiesta. I have had the vehicle inspected at my local Ford dealership and they have stated that the issue is a defective transmission. A defective transmission that IS NOT covered under CSP 14M02 because of build date ONLY. Thank you for your time. The vehicle is experiencing a common know issue with the TCM. After power loss, after having the battery replaced, the vehicle was having transmission issues. The Codes pulled from the car were P06B8 and P0606. These codes are well know with the Ford Fiesta for failure of the TCM. There is an extended warranty coverage for 2011-2015 Fiestas that should clearly extend to this year as well. It has the same transmission. Ford claims they corrected the issue with new parts. The part number on the cars PCM matches those of the extended warranty. The warranty is to extend to 100,000 miles or 10 years. The vehicle meets both those requirements. The vehicle was manufactured in the same facility in Mexico that the other faulty modules were installed. It was manufactured only a few months after the supposed change in part.
I just had the TCM updated by the local Ford dealership and the transmission is still kicking out of gear while I am driving down the interstate! The engine light did not come back on yet. This costed $410.00 I think it’s Fords responsibility to make this right seeings there’s been lawsuits over this issue!
At 90,000 miles the Engine Timing Crankshaft Sprocket (i.e Crankshaft Gear,Part #: BE8Z6306AD) holding the timing belt on the vehicle has failed. This resulted in the timing belt backing off the cam gears and coming in contact with and melting through the plastic timing belt cover. Luckily, there was an audible grinding noise coming from the engine that alerted us the problem before the timing belt became dislodged. On further review there are numerous cases on the internet of this situation occurring. Please see examples at: [XXX] , [XXX] , and [XXX] . The service interval for this component established by Ford is 150,000 miles. Therefore, these situations represent an early failure of this engine component and poses a safety risk to drivers if the belt comes off track or breaks during operation because the vehicle could immediately lose power. The attached image shows the timing belt melting through the plastic timing cover. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Parked vehicle in space and in 1st gear. Clutch engages while fully depressed causing car to lose control and not able to stop.
The car started to not reverse. Then took several times to start. Started shuddering while driving very slowly and it is extremely dangerous! I have two young children. I have been with out a vehicle for 2 months and its really affecting our lives. Ford charged me $283 to diagnosis it has a faulty clutch. Quoted $4100. I cant afford that since I cant even get to work with out my car. IT SHOULD HAVE A RECALL FOR MY VIN. I HAVE SEEN OTHERS WITH THIS SAME ISSUE. PLEASE take my complaint seriously and please help!!!!!

I turned my car on July, 14, 2023 , I put my foot on the break to put in reverse, and when I put it in reverse it would not reverse and my brakes locked up and my car would start to roll forward while I was in reverse gear . My car drives forward but will not go in reverse and my engine light is not own. I took it two different shops , both with the same diagnois's , said it is my transmission and to contact Ford dealership directly for any possible recalls.
Transmision suddenly started making a grinding noise.
I was in Michigan and my car, which had been in great shape, unexpectedly failed to start after sitting for two days. After jump-starting the battery, the maintenance light turned on and my display showed a transmission malfunction. So while I traveled in my car to Columbus, unaware of the potential danger that my car could catch fire and explode because it couldn't shift beyond third gear, I stopped at AutoZone for an inspection where the man informed me about a specific error code called P0606. The car dealership, Holmes Motors, was well aware of the issues with my car because we had informed them about another defective Ford Fiesta they had in stock. However, they made a deliberate decision not to reveal any of this important information to me or my family. I’ve been had problems when my car failed to start after refueling last year. One of the two main issues I've encountered with Them. Firstly, they advised me that they had repaired my vehicle; that was not the case. Secondly, they never upheld the warranty and argued that my recurring issue was not eligible for coverage, after they just worked on it. The other Ford Fiesta that we saw coincidentally ended up being my ex-roommate's car, and it still had the same problems. At AACMO in Columbus, They confirmed that my dual clutch assembly transmission had malfunctioned and overwhelmed my TCM. This exact same incident was also mentioned in the lawsuit filed against Ford, and from numerous people who faced the same issue. I’m stuck in Ohio with insufficient funds for repairs or a replacement, which means I have no way home and zero source of income to sustain myself. It sucks that the entire burden of repairs falls on us while these companies neglect to accept any accountability for their faults. Has not been brought to the manufacture yet. If there is any other actions to help assist in my situation, please feel welcome to contact me. Thank you.
The battery in the car died which caused the TCM to fail requiring a new replacement. My car was built in May of 2016 which leaves it outside the recall date per this article which forced me to cover all the costs: Customer Satisfaction Program 14M02 https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2022/MC-10226944-0001.pdf Although my car is outside of this window, it failed due to the same DPS6 automatic transmission TCM listed in this recall and I would want to see my car's model year added to this recall.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Fiesta. The contact stated that the transmission was not working as designed. While driving at various speeds, the vehicle accelerated abruptly. While changing gears at low speed, the vehicle was shaking and shuddering. While driving approximately 30 MPH, the RPM raised up to 3,000 RPM. It seems the clutch is bypassing when stopped at a stoplight or sign. You can pull out but you have to let the clutch pedal all the way up and then push it in again. If you set too long it will try to inch forward. The car only had 46,000 miles when it started. I have talked to other people and obviously Ford has a problem and doesn’t want to fix it.
2016 ford fiesta se has had a transmission/clutch problem. It is doing everything that the recall says it's suppose to cover and Ford is not willing to honor and fix it. It's jerking, shaking, and not accelerating properly.

New vehicle was sold with 2 manufacturing defects: 1) Defective front left shock absorber with made steering unstable. 2) Leaking value cover gasket with created a fire risk. 3) Both defects where confirmed by a dealer. 4) Vehicle has not been inspected by manufacturer, police, insurance representative or others. 5) No warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of problem were presented prior to first dealer inspection. 6) The dealer who discovered the 2 manufacturing defects within the 3 year warranty period, held the vehicle over the weekend and claimed to have fixed both. However the next time I took it to a service center I was told the value cover gasket was leaking. 7) I eventually returned to the original dealer who sold me the vehicle and they confirmed that the value cover gasket was leaking and apparently was not repaired under warranty as expected. 8) The original dealer repaired the value cover gasket off-premise in local parking lot and over charge me based on previous warranty price.
On Sunday December 4th 2022 my car battery died. I called aaa and they sent out a tow company to jump the battery. I noticed for about a month the car made a "ticking" noise. The noise would sound like a "sighing" when parking the vehicle. The passenger side door latch is broken and will no longer lock my door. My minor daughter used to sit up there but now because the door flys open she can no longer sit there. This is a serious safety hazard and needs to be recalled on Ford Fiesta 2016 as well.

In September 2022, my vehicle wouldn’t shift. I took it to Leith Ford in Wendell, NC, who stated it was a faulty Transmission Control Module, and that part is backordered, up to a year! I was told I could park it next to the others who had the same problem. I took the car to my home rather than leaving it at the company for a year, and it stalled out twice while driving. Now it will have to be towed when the part comes in.
Two years ago, a Ford Service person said 2 lug nuts needed to be replaced in order to rotate the tires. Later, I learned that this was a safety hazard because I would not have been able to change a flat tire. This time, I was told at the Ford dealer that all 16 needed to be replaced in order to rotate the tires. Also, I had to pay $110. to have this fixed. Once again, I was in danger of having a flat tire and being unable to remove the tire because of faulty lug nuts. This is a serious safety issue and should be recalled by Ford. I should also be reimbursed by Ford for this expense. No one should have to pay for replacing original Ford parts with parts that are still faulty.

THE 2016 FORD FIESTA SEATBELT DOES NOT RETRACT PROPERLY AND THE SEATBELT HANG TO THE DRIVER SEAT WHILE THE SEATBELT METAL BUCKLE POINTING UP AND THE DRIVER COULD SAT TO IT AND INJURED THE BACK RIBS OF THE DRIVER JUST LIKE HOW I INJURED MY SELF BECAUSE OF LACK OF WARNINGS FROM OWNERS' MANUAL FROM FORD MOTOR THAT THESE SEATBELT PROBLEM SHOULD HAVE BEEN FORSEABLE BY THE MANUFACTURED TO WARNED THE CONSUMERS.
I bought my 2016 Ford Fiesta in 2019 at 49k miles. Since I have had my car, my car battery would die randomly and my car would fail to detect my key. Recently, when my car hit about 98k miles, my car died again and I needed to buy another new battery. Once the battery was replaced, the “service transmission now” sign began to show on the dash. My car will refuse to accelerate past 35 mph and will slow down to 0 mph. Found this out the hard way, on the freeway. My mechanic said I need a Transmission Control Module but the dealerships say the part I need is on back order. Another mechanic said the part itself is faulty and to NOT BUY another TCM. These are the following codes that returned on my car: P0606-00, P0702-00, UO401-00, UO131-00, UO420-86, UO101-00, UO140-00, U3003-16, UO193-00, U3006-16, V0427-68, B1007-94, UO121-87, VO127-87, UO140-87, B1C45-24, P0606 As of right now, there is no recall, so my car isn’t covered under the warranty. My 2016 Ford Fiesta was manufactured in November 2015.

Car stopped shifting in middle of highway. My safety was put at risk as it stopped moving on a busy road. Had to have towed to nearest shop, was told dual clutch system failed. Warning was “transmission malfunction service now”.vehicle is available for inspection, Ford refuses to compensate for faulty parts. Plenty of recalls for other models with same parts. Transmission control module failed and driving is unsafe as lurching pick up in traffic and complete failure of transmission. No reverse or forward gear.
I should have an open recall for the coolant reservoir however it isn’t coming up at any Ford dealerships. There’s an issue with the OEM Khalid reservoir that comes in this vehicle and it’s leaking fluid.

The lug studs have "swollen" making it impossible to change a tire. I was told both by the tow truck driver who showed up to change the tire, and the tire shop where I took the car, that this is a known issue with this make/model and that you have to take it to a Ford dealership to be addressed.

Driving at highway speeds and transmission goes into neutral unexpectedly. Loses power steering at this time also. This also occurs now at any speed. With this occurring there is a high probability of an accident that can lead to serious injury including death. Ford has known of this issue with these vehicles and will not recall them and fix the problems. The government needs to take this matter up and force Ford to fix the unsafe vehicles.
Defected transmissions were installed on these cars. Ford recalled the least number with the least loss, but they kept the rest with their defected transmissions which cost more money than the car’s value. Ford sold their cars with defected transmissions and they knew it!

Transmission shutters and shifts late sometimes during acceleration from a stop. Lawsuit settled with Ford states 2016's are covered but dealership says its only up to 2015, which is the date of manufacturer on my vehicle. Vin check also does not show recall, but clearly states in lawsuit 2011 to 2016 are affected.
Lug Nuts! They have swelled due to cheap product putting chrome over steel. Have to replace as mechanic can't get tires off. These could have cracked while driving, which would have put pressure on other lug nuts, maybe causing tires to fall off while driving. Being replaced with manufacturers lug nuts so it's going to happen again.
While driving car suddenly jerked wheel out of drivers hands and almost pulled the car into a ditch on the right side. Lights on the dash say steering assist unavailable service now. There has been a recall on Ford cards with this EPAS system but somehow this system has still not been fixed and is going to kill more people if your agency keeps allowing it to not be a total recall on all vehicles with this system installed.
My Ford fiesta suddenly exploded the seat's ventilation and my seatbelts tore off, so i crashed into a semi at the speed of 191 km/h

Car shutoff while driving on the highway
There is a problem with certain module of the transmission, whenever you change/replace the battery, once you start the car again, it shows a system alert telling you " damaged transmission, immediate maintenance required". The car starts to act weird, it is not capable to switch gears and the transmission is not working properly overall. I've tried to approach the car dealer which is an official representative/branch of Ford and they are charging for the programming of the module whenever this happens( twice already). I strongly believe that we as a Ford owner shouldn't have to pay for something that is an error from the manufacturer.
TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING
MY 2016 VEHICLE WAS NOT ON A RECALL LIST AND I HAVE NOT (NEVER) MISSED A FORD MAINTAINENCE SERVICE OR OIL CHANGE ETC. ON THIS CAR. 85,000 MILES - NOW MY TRANSMISSION IS GOING BAD, JUMPS OUT OF GEAR, WON'T START SOMETIMES, WON'T BACK UP IN REVERSE AND IN FORWARD STUTTERS AND JERKS. IT IS SCARY AND THE LOCAL FORD DEALER SAID IT WILL COST ABOUT $2000.00 DEPENDING ON THAT THEY FIND. I DON'T HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY TO SPEND AND MY EXTENDED SERVICE WARRANTY JUST EXPIRED. WHY WASN'T MY CAN RECALLED LIKE MANY OF THE SIMILAR. ITS ELECTRONIC? I HAVE NO SAFE VEHICLE AND I AM AT A TERRIBLE LOSS AS TO WHAT TO DO. I LIKE THE CAR BUT THIS IS GOING TO KILL ME. PARIS MCNENY
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY MY CARS THROTTLE BODY STOPPED FUNCTIONING. HAVING TO TRY AND PULL OVER I GOT STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND STARTED IT AGAIN AND EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE. DURING THE SAME TRIP HOME I GOT STUCK ON A SMALL TWO LANE BRIDGE TWICE FOR THE SAME REASON. AFTER GETTING OFF THE BRIDGE IT HAPPENED A FOURTH TIME ON THE HIGHWAY AGAIN DOING 70MPH.
ORIGINALLY, SINCE PURCHASE, EVERY TIME I FILLED UP THE VEHICLE IT WILL SUDDENLY JOLT OR JERK AND THE RPMS WOULD DROP TO THE HALF MARK THEN IT WOULD RUMBLE WHILE NOT IN MOTION. RECENTLY, THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING THE ABOVE ISSUES WHEN THE TANK IS NEAR EMPTY. I HAVE NOT NOTICED IT AT ANY OTHER TIME AS OF YET BUT I AM ASSUMING THAT IT WILL GET WORSE. FORD DEALERSHIP HAS TOLD ME IN THE PAST THAT THEY WILL NOT ATTEMPT TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE UNLESS THE ISSUE IS PRESENT DURING THERE CHECK IN PROCESS.
WHEN FUEL IS ADDED TO THE VEHICLE, IT WILL NOT START FOR 5-20 MINUTES AFTER FUEL IS ADDED AND REQUIRES 3-5 ATTEMPTS TO START. ADDITIONALLY, THERE HAVE BEEN TIMES WHERE ONCE IT STARTS AND BEGINS OPERATING, IT WILL LOSE POWER AND SHUT OFF. THIS POWER LOSS HAS OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES AFTER LEAVING THE GAS STATION PARKING LOSS, LEADING TO BEING STALLED WHILE IN MOTION ON A ROADWAY. THIS IS A INCREDIBLY SCARY EXPERIENCE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD FIESTA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL UPON DEPRESSION OF THE ACCELERATOR WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO TWO SEPARATE INDEPENDENT MECHANICS WHO BOTH STATED THAT THE DUAL CLUTCH SYSTEM HAD FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT CALLED PERRY FORD OF NATIONAL CITY (2050 NATIONAL CITY BLVD, NATIONAL CITY, CA 91950) WHERE HE WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,000.
IT WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO ENGAGE INTO 1ST AND 2ND GEAR; THE CLUTCH JUST FELT LOSE AND IT JERKS
THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH FAILED. NO LONGER HOLDS THE DOOR CLOSED. WHEN CLOSED, THE DOOR CAN BE PUSHED OPEN FROM THE INSIDE WITHOUT TOUCHING THE DOOR HANDLE. THE CAR RECOGNIZES THE DOOR AS ALWAYS OPEN. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY.
I HAVE A 2016 FORD FIESTA THIS MODEL CAR DOES NOT COME WITH A GAS CAP. I'VE NOTICED AFTER I FILLED MY CAR UP WITH GAS MY CAR STUTTERS AND STALLS OUT AND SOMETIMES DOESN'T START RIGHT AWAY THIS GOES AWAY AFTER 3 OR 4 TIMES IS STARTING THE CAR BACK UP I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THAT MY PURGE VALVE FOR THE FORD FIESTA WAS DEFECTIVE I'VE ALREADY HAD THIS REPAIRED AND BELIEVE THIS REPAIR HAS FIXED THE PROBLEM I'VE READ OF OTHER PEOPLE OF THE SAME YEAR MAKE AND MODEL HAVING SIMILAR ISSUES APPARENTLY BECAUSE THE HAS A CAPLESS GAS TANK THIS CREATES AIR POCKETS IN THE FUEL TANK WHICH MESSES UP THE PURGE VALVE OVER TIME.
I BOUGHT MY 2016 FORD FIESTA WITH 31K MILES ON IT. AT THE TIME I DIDN'T RESEARCH TOO DEEPLY INTO THE TRANSMISSION ISSUES THESE MODELS HAVE. SINCE MY CAR HIT ABOUT 45K MILES I'VE EXPERIENCED SHUTTERING, JUMPING, CLICKING, AND ROUGH SHIFTING OR COMPLETE LACK OF SHIFTING IN THE TRANSMISSION WHILE DRIVING SAFELY AND NORMALLY. I'VE EXPERIENCED MY CAR DYING RANDOMLY BECAUSE THE TCM IS FAULTY AND USES ALL THE CAR'S POWER EVEN WHEN THE CAR ISN'T ON. DURING A PERIOD MY CAR WAS HAVING LOTS OF TROUBLE TURNING OVER THE ENGINE TO START. HAD A BUNCH OF VACUUMS AND WIRING REPLACED AND THIS HELPED A BIT WITH THE CAR STARTING. NOW IT'S AT 67K MILES AND I'M COMPLETELY SCARED TO DRIVE IT. IT NEVER FEELS RELIABLE GIVEN THE FAULTY TCM, I'VE HAD TO BUY AN EXTRA PORTABLE CAR JUMP STARTER JUST SO I CAN MAKE SURE I'LL BE ABLE TO DRIVE HOME, AND NOW I JUST WANT FORD TO BUY IT BACK. IT'S OVERALL A FAULTY CAR THAT IS FORESHADOWING A FUTURE OF REPLACING SOMETHING RELATED TO THE TRANSMISSION EVERY 5K MILES WHICH IS RIDICULOUS AND COMPLETELY UNAFFORDABLE. PLEASE REMEDY THIS CATASTROPHIC ISSUE FORD!

THE LUGNUTS SWELL AND THE LUG HUT WRENCH WITH THE CAR WILL NOT REMOVE THE LUG NUTS. MY WIFE GOT A FLAT TIRE, SHE WAS ALONE ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND COULD NOT GET THE TIRE OFF BECAUSE THE WRENCH WOULD NOT FIT. THE ROAD SIDE SERVICE COULD NOT GET IT OFF ALSO. WE HAD TO GET THE CAR TO A SERVICE CENTER AND THEY HAD TO HAMMER A LARGER SOCKET ON IT TO BACK THE NUTS OFF. THEY SAY THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. REALLY? A COMMON PROBLEM THAT LUG NUTS FAIL??? THIS IS NOT RIGHT. I CALLED THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID SORRY BUT THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO. I CALLED FORD DIRECTLY AND THEY SAID THE SAME THING. POOR SERVICE.

MY TRUNK POPS OPEN ON ITS OWN. AT LEAST 3 TIMES A DAY AT RANDOM. GIVING ACCESS INTO THE VEHICLE. THIS HAPPENS WHILE I'M DRIVING AND WHILE THE CAR IS STATIONARY. I HAVE WOKEN UP AT 4 AM AND MY TRUNK BE OPEN. I'VE BEEN DRIVING AT 60MPH AND THE TRUNK OPEN. BEEN IN A DRIVE THROUGH AND THE TRUNK OPEN. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR MONTHS. MY SON SEEN THE TRUNK WAS OPEN AND SHUT IT REPEATEDLY JUST FOR IT TO OPEN EVERY FEW MINUTES. THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THESE AND SIMILAR FORD VEHICLES.
WHILE DRIVING TO A TRAFFIC LIGHT BEFORE COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP MY CAR SEEMED TO REV UP AFTER THE SHIFTING DOWN THEN ENGINE GETS HIGH WHEN RELEASING BRAKE AND GOING ABOUT 15 MPH BEFORE COMING TO THE NEXT TRAFFIC LIGHT THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARS AND IS STEADY AS I'M DRIVING TO WORK THERE IS A "HARD SHIFT" WHILE GOING ABOUT 15-20 MPH IN CITY DRIVING.. THE CLUTCH PEDAL GETS STUCK ABOUT AN INCH OFF THE FLOOR AFTER BEING DEPRESSED AT SEEMINGLY RANDOM TIMES USUALLY IN THE WARMER WEATHER MONTHS. THIS HAS CAUSED ME TO LOSE THE ABILITY TO CHANGE GEARS AND LOSS OF ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. IT DOES NOT COME OUT OF THIS POSITION UNTIL I PHYSICALLY PULL THE PEDAL OFF THE FLOOR. I HAVE HAD INCIDENTS WHERE I HAVE BEEN STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION UNABLE TO MOVE WHERE I HAVE ALMOST BEEN HIT BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THIS IS NOT AN UNCOMMON ISSUE AND IS NOTED IN MANY FIESTA ST FORUMS.
I TRIED TO START MY CAR TO GET TO WORK AND IT MADE SOME FUNNY NOISES AND WOULD NOT START. AFTER ABOUT THE FIFTH TIME IT STARTED AND IMMEDIATELY A TRANSMISSION SERVICE NOW WARNING CAME UP.
WHEN PUTTING THE CAR INTO REVERSE OUT OF A PARKING SPACE OR GOING FROM DRIVE TO REVERSE THE CAR WILL JERK AND/OR NOT MOVE. TAPPING THE GAS DOESN'T HELP. ALSO WHEN TURNING AROUND CORNERS WHEN PUSHING DOWN ON THE ACCELERATOR THE CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE UNTIL THE WHEEL IS ENTIRELY STRAIGHTENED.
ON FRIDAY JUNE 19TH MY SON AND I WERE EXITING A PARKING LOT OF A SHOPPING CENTER. AS WE WERE MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN. THE DRIVETRAIN IN MY 2016 FORD FIESTA WENT OUT. LEAVING US STUCK IN TRAFFIC AND NEARLY GETTING REAR ENDED. SOME OTHER MOTORIST HELPED US PUSH THE CAR BACK INTO THE SHOPPING CENTER. I CALLED MY FORD DEALERSHIP AND EXPLAINED THE ISSUE. I WAS TOLD THAT MY V.I.N. NUMBER WAS NOT PART OF THE 100,000 MILE EXTENDED WARRANTY PROGRAM. BECAUSE IT CAME FROM A DIFFERENT PLANT. I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER CARE, AND WAS TOLD THE SAME THING. NOW, I MAY HAVE TO COME UP WITH $3,500 TO $4,000 TO GET THE TRANSMISSION FIXED. *TR
ON FRIDAY JUNE 19TH, MY SON AND I WERE MAKING A RIGHT TURN ONTO A MAIN STREET FROM A PARKING LOT. THE CAR HESITATED, THEN STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. I COULD HAVE THE CAR IDLE UP. BUT IT WOULDN'T MOVE. MYSELF AND ANOTHER GUY HELPED ME PUSH THE CAR BACK INTO THE STRIP MALL PARKING LOT. WE ALMOST GOT HIT TWICE TRYING TO PUSH THE CAR. I HAD THE CAR TOWED HOME. I CALLED MY FORD DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT MY CAR'S VIN NUMBER WAS ELIGIBLE FOR THE 100,000 MILE EXTENDED WARRANTY. I HAVE LESS THAN 100, 000 MILES. *TR
MY BATTERY WENT DEAD ON 5/26/20, IT WAS UNABLE TO BE JUMPED OFF AT AUTO ZONE. I BOUGHT A NEW BATTERY FOR $108. AFTER INSTALLING MY DASH APPEARED TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION SERVICE NOW, PRIOR TO THIS I HAD NO ISSUES OTHER THAN MY PURGE CONTROL VALVE HAS WENT OUT TWICE. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND HE IMMEDIATELY STATED THE BATTERY DYING CAUSED THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE TO BURN OUT AND THAT IT IS A COMMON ISSUE. HE SAID MY VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN A RECALL/EXTENDED WARRANTY BUT MY VINTAGE WAS NOT INCLUDED AND HE WASN'T SURE WHY. HE SAID IT WOULD BE A $600 FIX TO REACH OUT TO FORD MOTOR COMPANY ABOUT INCLUDING MY VEHICLE WHICH THEY REFUSED AFTER CALLING TWICE. I WAS AT AUTO ZONE WHEN THIS HAPPENED TO HAVE MY BATTERY TESTED BECAUSE 3 TIMES IN THE LAST MONTH I HAVE HAD TROUBLE STARTING MY CAR. I CALLED JENKINS AND WYNN IN CLARKSVILLE TN AS WELL AS FORD MOTOR COMPANY RECALL CUSTOMER RELATIONS TWICE. *BF*JB
MY VEHICLE IS A 2016 FORD FIESTA ST WITH A SUNROOF. I LIVE IN AN AREA WHERE THERE IS NOT MUCH FLAT LAND TO PARK VEHICLES. MY DRIVEWAY IS GREATER THAN A 20% GRADE. THIS COMPLAINT IS RELATED TO SUNROOF SEAL LEAKS IN ANY MODE OF OPERATION. THE SUNROOF SEAL IS A SINGLE STRIP OF RUBBER WITH A DISCONNECTED SEAM THAT IS ORIENTED AT THE TOP OF THE SUNROOF. AS THE RUBBER AGES, THE RUBBER SHRINKS AND THE SEAM CAN DEVELOP INTO A GAP THAT LETS WATER INSIDE THE SUNROOF DRAINAGE TRAY. IF THE SUNROOF SEAL LEAKS OR FAILS, THE CAR IS DESIGNED TO COLLECT THE WATER AND DRAIN IT TO A LOCATION NEAR THE FRONT WHEEL WELLS. THIS WORKS PERFECTLY AS LONG AS THE CAR IS LEVEL. IF THE CAR IS PARKED AT A 15% GRADE OR STEEPER WITH THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE POINTING UPWARDS, THE SUNROOF SEAL WILL LEAK, BUT THE WATER COLLECTED WILL NOT DRAIN TOWARD THE INTENDED DRAINS. THE WATER WILL INSTEAD FLOW DOWN THE SIDES OF THE ROOFLINE INSIDE PLASTIC TROUGHS. THESE TROUGHS ARE NOT WELL DRAINED TO THE EXTERIOR. THE WATER WILL FLOW THROUGH THE TROUGHS AND EXIT INTO THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE NEAR THE HEAD LINER AND THE REAR PLASTIC TRIM OF THE INTERIOR NEXT TO THE REAR WINDOW. THIS WILL EVENTUALLY FILL UP THE SEALED SPARE TIRE WELL, AND WILL CAUSE CORROSION OVER TIME. THIS CORROSION MAY AFFECT THE CAR'S STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY AND MAY AFFECT THE CAR'S CRASH WORTHINESS IF ALLOWED TO CONTINUE. THE WATER IS ONLY NOTICEABLE IF THE TRUNK SHELF IS REMOVED, WHICH IN MANY VEHICLES WILL NEVER HAPPEN. THE WATER ALSO HAS A TENDENCY TO COLLECT ON THE REAR SEATBELT SPOOL AND THE SPOOL SUPPORT FASTENERS. IF THE WATER IS LEFT ON THE SEATBELT SPOOLS FOR LONG ENOUGH TIME, THE SEATBELTS FOR THE REAR SEATS CAN BE WEAKENED OVER TIME BY CORROSION. THE SEATBELT ISSUE MAY NOT BECOME A SAFETY CONCERN UNTIL SOMETIME IN THE CAR'S FUTURE IN THE SECONDHAND MARKET. BLACK MOLD GROWTH MAY BECOME AN ISSUE AS WELL.
PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW CONTROL DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY. BLUETOOTH AUDIO SOMETIMES PAUSES FOR NO REASON. CONDITIONS HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING OR STATIONARY.
WHEN I PUT GAS IN MY 2016 FORD FIESTA IT WANT START RIGHT AFTER THE CAR STALL WHICH I'M TOLD BY MY MECHANIC THAT THE VAPOR CANISTER PURGE VALVE IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND FORD HAS THIS SAME ISSUE WITH THE FORD FOCUS BUT WANT PUT THE FIESTA ON THE TO BE RECALLED LIST

I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT ON THE FREEWAY THE VEHICLE WAS STRUCK TWICE AND CAREENED INTO THE CENTER DIVIDER ONCE BEFORE COMING TO REST. THE AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. I SUSTAINED A BROKEN NECK BY HYPER EXTENDING MY NECK OVER THE STEERING WHEEL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD FIESTA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE OR SHIFT GEARS IN CORRECT ORDER WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL DEPRESSED. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE TO THE RESIDENCE, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AIRPORT MARINA FORD LOCATED AT (5880 W CENTINELA AVE, LOS ANGELES, CA 90045) WHERE IT WAS ALSO DIAGNOSED WITH A TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AT AIRPORT MARINA FORD. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 112,000. *DT*JB
WHILE DRIVING I HEAR LIKE A KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT END, WHILE DRIVING DOWN MAIN STREETS AND SIDE STREETS.
THE TCM LIGHT COMES ON WHEN CAR IS STARTED. WHILE THE CAR IS MOVING IT SEEM TO SLIP OUT OF GEAR. THIS HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING ON A STRAIGHT ROAD OR TURNING OR SLOWING DOWN. THE RPM REVS UP BUT THE CAR IS SLOWING DOWN. THIS HAPPENS WHEN DRIVING 30 MPH OR 50 MPH.
WHEN ACCELERATING AFTER STOPPING MY 2016 FIESTA SE SHUDDERS QUITE HARD MOVING FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR AND THEN ALSO FROM 2ND TO 3RD. I'VE NOTICED THAT THE LENGTH OF TIME THE CAR SHUDDERS IS INCREASING. THE SHUDDER IS ACCOMPANIED BY A LOUD RATTLING SOUND LIKE IF YOU SHOOK A BUNCH OF SCREWS IN A METAL CONTAINER. SOMETIMES LOSS OF POWER AND HIGH RPM'S OCCUR. I WILL TAKE IT BACK IN AND THIS WILL BE THE 4TH TIME. THE FORD DEALERSHIP TELLS ME THAT THE SHUDDER DOESN'T HARM THE TRANSMISSION. I DON 'T BELIEVE THAT. CAN'T EVEN SELL THE CAR (I TRIED) BECAUSE THIS CAR'S RESALE VALUE IS ZERO. NEXT I'M THINKING OF PURSUING A LEMON LAW RESOLUTION.
TPS LIGHT STAYS ON. AIR LOSE IN FRONT DRIVER TIRE AND BACK DRIVER SIDE TIRE. I HAVE TO PUT AIR IN BOTH TIRES EVERY DAY. ABOUT 15 LBS OF AIR IN THE FRONT DRIVER TIRE AND ABOUT 8 LBS OF AIR IN THE BACK DRIVER SIDE TIRE
TRANSMISSION HESITATES, DOESN'T ALWAYS MOVE FROM GEAR TO GEAR AND OFTEN MAKES STRANGE NOISES
REAR PASSENGER STRUT SNAPPED ON 5 HOUR HIGHWAY DRIVE. WHEN LIFTED AT THE GARAGE IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT WOOD SCREWS WERE USED TO SECURE THE STRUT BRACKETS INSTEAD OF BOLTS. ONE OF THE SCREWS HAD ALREADY FALLEN OUT OF THE STRUT THAT HAD SNAPPED AND ON THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE, ONE OF THE WOOD SCREWS USED WAS LOOSE AND HALF WAY OUT. THE TYPE OF SCREWS USED WERE WRONG BECAUSE THERE WAS NOTHING TO TIGHTEN THEM OR HOLD THEM IN PLACE SECURELY AS A BOLT WITH A NUT WOULD AND THEY TURNED AND LOOSENED AS VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN. 2016 PURCHASED FROM A DEALERSHIP ON 9/7/2019 WITH 30K MILES.
TRANSMISSION RECALLS
WE TRIED TURNING THE CAR ON. THE LIGHTS STARTED BLINKING RAPIDLY THE. IT SAID THE TRACTION CONTROL WAS OFF. EVEN THOUGH WE DID NOT TURN IT OFF. WE JUMP STARTED THE CAR AND IT WENT ON BUT ONLY FOR THE DASHBOARD TO SAY 'TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION SERVICE NOW'. WHEN DRIVING ON THE STREET AND FREEWAY TO THE NEXT EXIT. IT FELT AND SOUND LIKE THE ENGINE IS REVVING THE ENTIRE TIME NO MATTER WHAT SPEED. THE RPM IS RUNNING HIGH GOING STRAIGHT PAST 3
THE HORN DOES NOT WORK. I NEVER TESTED THE HORN WHEN I TOOK THE CAR FOR A TEST DRIVE, AND ONLY DISCOVERED THIS FACT 2 WEEKS AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE.. THE DEALER CLAIMS THEY DID A THOROUGH SAFETY CHECK WHICH IS NOT THE CASE. I SIGNED THE 'SOLD AS IS' WAIVER SO I DON'T HAVE MUCH RECOURSE HERE, BUT THE DEALER SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR SELLING A VEHICLE THAT DOES NOT MEET THE BASIC SAFETY STANDARDS.
OVER THE SUMMER 2019, PASSENGER LEFT SIDE DOOR DID NOT LATCH. CHILD LOCK WAS ON. UPON DISCOVERY OF DEFECT, IT WAS TAKEN TO FORD TO REPAIR. ON NOVEMBER 12, 2019, DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR DID NOT WANT TO LATCH. WENT TO CHECK ON THE CAR NEXT DAY, AND THE DOOR LATCHES WITHOUT PROBLEMS MORE THAN ONCE. FILING A COMPLAINT BECAUSE IT HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN THE SAME YEAR WITH DIFFERENT CAR DOORS. WILL TAKE TO FORD AGAIN ON NOVEMBER 15TH TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT TO MAKE SURE THERE ARE NO ADDITIONAL PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR. BOTH TIMES THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN THIS OCCURRED.
TRANSMISSION NOISE JUST BEFORE THE #3 SHIFT RATHER IT UP A UPSHIFT OR DOWNSHIFT. THE VEHICLE HAS A FAULTY CLUTCH AND THE SLAVE CYLINDER IS NOISY. THE #3 SHIFT NOISE MAY BE FAULTY SHIFT SYNCHRONIZER OR A DAMAGED SHIFT FORK
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD FIESTA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT EVERY TIME FUEL WAS PLACED IN THE TANK, THE VEHICLE SHUDDERED. ALSO, WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, IT STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE VACUUM FUEL LINE WAS UNABLE TO BLEED UP THE FUEL TANK VACUUM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,298.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD FIESTA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ACTUATORS REPEATEDLY FAILED ON THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE AIR COMPRESSORS MALFUNCTIONED, WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. FURTHERMORE, THE VEHICLE LEAKED OIL FROM THE TRANSMISSION. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO RUSSELL AND SMITH FORD (3440 S LOOP W, HOUSTON, TX 77025, (713) 230-8368) WHERE IT WAS SERVICED MULTIPLE TIMES FOR THE FAILURES UNDER WARRANTY. ON ONE OCCASION, WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT, IT SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, BUT THE ENGINE BEGAN TO SCREECH. UPON DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE CONTINUE TO SCREECH AND STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO RANDALL REED'S PLANET FORD (19000 EASTEX FWY, HUMBLE, TX 77338, (866) 844-5995) WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR THE AIR COMPRESSOR AND NUMEROUS OTHER FAILURES; HOWEVER, THE FAILURES CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
WHEN I REFUEL IT TAKES SEVERAL TRIES TO GET VEHICLE RESTARTED AND NEED TO PUMP ACCELERATOR TO KEEP IT FROM DYING. THE SMELL OF GAS IS BAD. COME TO A RED LIGHT STALLS AND HARD TO RESTART. AIR BAG LIGHT ON DASH AND NEVER GOES OUT. RPM SURGE AND CAR WILL LUNGE, VERY SCARY. JUST STARTED A LOUD CLICKING/THUMPING NOISE, FOUND OUT COULD BE ACTUATOR. AC WILL STOP BLOWING COOL AND BEGIN AGAIN. REPAIR SHOP CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHY. FOR A NEW CAR HAS MANY ISSUES FOR BEING OUT FOR SUCH A SHORT TIME.
ENGINE FLUID LEAK ..ADD ON DURING REPAIRS FOUND VEHICLE LEAKING OIL HITTING EXHAUST SYSTEM. VALVE COVER GASKET FOUND LEAKING. REPLACE VALUE COVER GASKET.
NOISE FROM RIGHT FRONT STRUT AREA. VERIFY NOISE FROM OUTSIDE STRUT FOUND TO BE LEAKING PASS SIDE STRUT LEAKING. REPLACE STRUT AND HARDWARE.
FORD DEALERSHIP "FIXED" THE TRANSMISSION ON 7-24-19 EXCEPT IT'S NOT FIXED. AT A STOP WHEN PRESSING THE GAS THE CAR WON'T MOVE THEN SUDDENLY LAUNCH FORWARD RANDOMLY. IT ALSO STILL LOSES ALL ENGINE POWER WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THESE WERE THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS BEFORE THE "FIX". THIS ISSUE HAS CAUSED A MINOR ACCIDENT AS WELL. WE GOT LIGHTLY REAR ENDED WHEN A LIGHT TURNED GREEN, WE STARTED MOVING FORWARD AND AT ABOUT 7-10MPH WE LOST ALL POWER AND THE PERSON BEHIND US COULDN'T STOP QUICK ENOUGH. DAMAGE WAS MINOR, JUST SOME CHIPPED PAINT BUT IT COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE.
VEHICLE HAS RANDOM SUDDEN LOSS OF ACCELERATION WHILE IN MOTION, LURCHES AHEAD RANDOMLY, SHUDDERS AND SHAKES WHEN CHANGING GEARS, CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL IN VARIOUS MOVING SITUATIONS. THIS HAPPENS REGULARLY IN ALL DRIVING CONDITIONS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD FIESTA. WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO LUNGE FORWARD WITHOUT WARNING. AT TIMES, WHILE APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL AND THEN SLOWLY PICK UP SPEED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED DURING THE FAILURES. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL WHILE IN DRIVE, WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO OVERHEAT WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GALPIN FORD (1000 SANDRETTO DR, PRESCOTT, AZ 86305, (877) 826-2935) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A FAULTY TRANSMISSION. SINCE OWNING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT HAD THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE REPLACED TWICE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES AND PROVIDED THE REPAIR COST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000.
SINCE WEEK 1 THE CAR (WHEN AT A STOP AND IN GEAR) IF YOU PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR AT ANY LEVEL THE CAR WOULD DO NOTHING THEN AFTER ROUGHLY 3-6 SECONDS IT WOULD RANDOMLY LAUNCH FORWARD. IT WOULD ALSO SEEMINGLY GO INTO NEUTRAL ON THE HIGHWAY WHICH LED TO A COMPLETE LOSS OF ENGINE POWER. THIS ALSO HAPPENS WHEN ON A NORMAL ROAD AT ANY SPEED AND IS COMPLETELY RANDOM AND ONE TIME AT A RED LIGHT WE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE THEN POWER SUDDENLY CUT OUT AND WE GOT REAR ENDED LIGHTLY. I TOLD PETER'S FORD IN NASHUA NH DURING OUR 1ST 3 OIL CHANGES ABOUT THE ISSUE AND WAS TOLD IMPLICITLY THAT IT WAS COMPLETELY NORMAL AND I SHOULDN'T WORRY ABOUT IT AS IT WILL JUST GO AWAY ON ITS OWN. ESSENTIALLY I WAS BRUSHED OFF DESPITE 3 COMPLAINTS THAT NEVER LED TO THE DEALER CHECKING THE CAR. THESE ISSUES HAVE BEEN CONSTANT SINCE WE BOUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW IN 2016.
CAR STALLS, DOESN'T PICK UP SPEED, HESITATES TO START, ENGINE LIGHT IS ON BECAUSE THE GAS VALVE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. GAS WARNING COMES ON WHEN HALF FULL. GAS SMELL THROUGHOUT CAR. HAS A LOAD HUMMING SOUND WHEN DRIVING OR IDLED. JUMPS WHEN ACCELERATE. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO A DEALERSHIP IN SAINT LOUIS (RELOCATED RECENTLY) AND THEY WON'T TOUCH IT.
AT 2600 MILES MY TRANSMISSION WENT AND WAS FIXED BY FORD, BUT THE CAR IS SO NOISY NOW AND THE FLOOR BOARDS VIBRATE, I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS CAR
MY CAR STALLS WHEN I COME TO A RED LIGHT ..ITS LIKE IT DONT WANA MOVE..SLOW ACCLER ATION
LUNGES FORWARD ANY TIME IT WANTS, ANYPLACE IT WANTS TOO.
TRANSMISSION ACTING UP. WHEN I TEST DROVE THE CAR IN MARCH 2017 I ACTUALLY QUESTIONED THE SALESPERSON BECAUSE I DID NOT FEEL IT WAS SHIFTING NORMALLY - HIS RESPONSE WAS "NO THIS IS THE NEW TRANSMISSION FORD IS PUTTING IN, THE BEST ONE THERE IS." UNFORTUNATELY MY PROBLEMS DID NOT START RIGHT AWAY BUT AFTER ABOUT 18 MONTHS. THE CAR OCCASIONALLY WOULD JUMP OR ACCELERATE WHILE I WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT OR STOP SIGN. I WOULD HAVE TO SLAM ON THE BRAKE TO KEEP FROM HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY THE CAR WOULD ACCELERATE LIKE THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS RESETTING TO A HIGHER SPEED, AGAIN HAD TO USE THE BRAKES. OTHER TIMES IT WOULD SLOW DOWN LIKE IT WAS GOING TO STOP AND THEN SUDDENLY GO. IT IS AT A POINT NOW WHERE IT SOMETIMES WILL NOT SHIFT AND I LITERALLY FEEL LIKE I AM IN LOW GEAR FOR A MINUTE OR TWO EVEN THOUGH I AM GOING 60 MPH. I GOT IN IT THIS WEEK AND THE CAR WOULD NOT GO INTO DRIVE. I PUT IT IN REVERSE AND IT MOVED, PUT IT BACK IN DRIVE AND NOTHING, PUT IT IN REVERSE AGAIN AND FINALLY IT WENT INTO DRIVE. NOW IT HESITATES SOMETIMES WHEN I AM AT A STOP SIGN AND GETTING READY TO RESUME DRIVING, I HAVE HAD HORNS HONKED AT ME AND GESTURES MADE BECAUSE IT TAKES THE CAR SOMETIMES 2 MINUTES TO GO INTO GEAR. I HAVE CALLED FORD ON A FEW OCCASIONS TO TRY AND SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT WITH A MECHANIC BUT ONCE I TELL THEM WHAT THE PROBLEM IS I AM TOLD THAT IT IS NORMAL AND TO NOT WORRY ABOUT IT. I AM NOW UPSIDE DOWN IN A CAR FINANCIALLY THAT IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE SO AM EITHER LOOKING AT HAVING A CAR REPOSSESSED IN ORDER TO GET ANOTHER ONE OR JUST LETTING IT SET AND PURCHASING A GOOD USED CAR UNTIL I CAN AFFORD TO FIX THIS ONE. I CERTAINLY CANNOT SELL IT TO AN INDIVIDUAL BECAUSE OF ALL THE PUBLICITY ABOUT THE TRANSMISSIONS, NO ONE WOULD PURCHASE IT AND I WOULD NOT WANT TO SELL MY PROBLEM TO ANYONE ELSE
WHEN I STEP ON THE GAS, THE CAR SPORADICALLY WILL NOT GO. SO I WILL STEP ON THE GAS LITTLE BIT MORE AND THE CAR WILL STILL NOT GO. SO I WILL STEP ON THE GAS A LITTLE MORE AND THEN SOMETHING WILL ENGAGE AND I WILL SHOOT FORWARD. THIS HAPPENS IN PLACES WHERE IT COULD BE CATASTROPHIC. FOR EXAMPLE, ONCE I WAS AT A STOP SIGN AND THIS WAS HAPPENING AND BECAUSE MY CAR WASN'T MOVING, ANOTHER CAR STARTED TO GO AND MY CAR FINALLY ENGAGED AND SHOT FORWARD AND I NARROWLY MISSED HITTING THAT OTHER VEHICLE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD FIESTA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO LEAVE HER PLACE OF RESIDENCE, THE GEAR SHIFT LEVER WAS PLACED IN DRIVE HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO GO BACKWARDS AND STRUCK THE SIDING OF THE RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HERITAGE FORD LOCATED AT 1600 SHELBURNE RD, SOUTH BURLINGTON, VT 05403, (802) 865-8100, TO BE DIAGNOSED, WHICH WAS STILL PENDING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD FIESTA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED NUMEROUS TIMES AFTER A COLD START. THE CLUTCH WAS APPLIED AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED, IN MOST INSTANCES, WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS PROGRESSING TO THE POINT THAT THE VEHICLE MAY NOT RESTART. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000. *BF CONSUMER STATED AFTER A COLD START TEN OR MORE HOURS, ALWAYS DURING THE FIRST 1/3 MILE AT SPEEDS LESS THAN OR UP TO 25 MPH AND IN THE FIRST 3 GEARS OF NY MANUAL TRANSMISSION WHEN I APPLY THE CLUTCH INSTEAD OF THE CLUTCH MAINTAINING ENGINE REVS, THE REV COUNTER WILL JUMP UP AND THEN DIP DOWN AND THE ENGINE SOMETIMES STALLS. ONCE THE CAR IS WARM AND HIGHER SPEEDS HAVE BEEN REACHED THIS PROBLEM DOES NOT REOCCUR EVEN AT THE LOWER GEARS AND SPEEDS. *JB
AFTER FILLING UP, THE CAR IDLES ROUGHLY. RPMS DROP UNEXPECTEDLY, AND SOMETIMES KILL THE ENGINE. THIS HAS RESULTED IN THE CAR SPORADICALLY DYING AT INTERSECTIONS WHILE IDLING AND WHILE SHIFTING INTO FIRST GEAR. THE CAR HAS BEEN DOING IT CONSISTENTLY AFTER FILLING UP WITH GAS. DOES NOT MATTER THE GAS STATION OR FUEL TYPE (87, 91, 93 OCTANE). NO CODES ARE THROWN AND DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN UNABLE TO DUPLICATE PROBLEM.
RECENTLY AT 48,000 MILES MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON FOR A CODE P1450 AND P0456 WHICH IS FOR THE EVAP SYSTEM. MY VEHICLE NOW STALLS WHEN GAS IS FILLED UP AND EVEN LOSES PERFORMANCE AT HIGH SPEEDS.
I HAVE A 2016 FORD FIESTA SE AND WHILE DRIVING CAR ON FREEWAY IT KEPT TRYING TO TURN OFF ON ME, IT WAS A VERY SCARY EXPERIENCE. AND VERY DANGEROUS.
TAKATA RECALL. EVERY TIME I PUT FUEL IN MY CAR IT HESITATES. SOMETIMES IT CUTS OFF AND SOMETIMES IT JUST SHAKES AND ALMOST CUTS OFF. IT HESITATES WHEN I DON'T PUT FUEL IN IT BUT IT DOES IT WORSE EVERYTIME I PUT FUEL IN IT. THE TRANSMISSION DOESN'T CHANGE GEARS SOMETIMES. I HAVE TO LET IT COAST TO GET IT TO CHANGE GEARS OR I HAVE TO STOP THEN GO. IF I YIELD THEN GO WITH OUT COMPLETELY STOPPING THE TRANSMISSION WON'T CHANGE GEARS UNLESS I LET IT COAST UNTIL IT CHANGES OR STOP AND LET IT CHANGE BEFORE I PROCEED.
MY AIRBAG LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON. ALSO TIRE LOW LIGHT IS COMING ON I ALSO HEAR A BANGING NOISE WHEN I USE THE HEAT OR AIR., THIS HAPPENS WHETHER DRIVING OR PARKED.
THE CAR WILL NOT START PROPERLY AFTER REFUELING. YOU HAVE TO PRESS ON THE GAS SEVERAL TIMES AND THEN THE BRAKE TO START IT. WHEN IT DOES START, YOU NEED TO REV THE ENGINE A COUPLE TIMES TO MAKE SURE IT WON'T DIE AGAIN. THE TRANSMISSION IS NOW SLIPPING AND DROPS TO NEUTRAL WHILE DRIVING AT ANY GIVEN TIME. IT HAPPENED TO ME TWICE THIS MORNING WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE. WHEN IT FINALLY GETS BACK INTO GEAR, IT LURCHES FORWARD. THIS MORNING I WAS NEARLY IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THIS NEW DEVELOPMENT IN A 2 YEAR OLD CAR. I WILL NEVER BUY A FORD AGAIN, THIS IS TOO DANGEROUS FOR ANYONE VALUING THEIR LIVES.
WHEN FUELING CAR WANT START WITHOUT DELAY. CODES P2196,P1450
WHILE IDLING AT STOP LIGHTS OR CITY DRIVING THE CAR WILL DROP RPM'S OR STALL OUT ON IT'S OWN. HAS HAPPENED WHILE MAKING A U-TURN, TURNING, AND IDLING. IT HAPPENS RANDOMLY AND FORD WILL NOT TAKE THE ISSUE SERIOUSLY
MY CAR HAS LESS THAN 50000 MILES AND ALREADY BEEN TO THE SHOP DUE TO NOT STARTING. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE BATTERY HAD A BAD CELL. GOT THE BATTERY REPLACED AND ALL WORKED FINE. 2 MONTHS LATER THE SAME ISSUES ARE HAPPENING AGAIN. WILL GO TO THE SHOP THIS WEEK. HOPEFULLY THEY VAN FIND OUT WHAT'S WRONG.
THE CAR JERKS AND SHUTTERS WHEN THE GAS IS FIRST PRESSED FROM A STOP. THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN "FIXED" 3 TIMES AND STILL HAS ISSUES.
WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED AND I LET MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE THE CAR LUNGES FORWARD THE MAJORITY OF THE TIME. FROM A STOP, WHEN I RELEASE THE BRAKE AND USE THE ACCELERATOR THERE'S A HESITATION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2016 FORD FIESTA. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, FLAMES APPEARED UNDER THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. I HAVE REPORTED THIS PROBLEM BEFORE.. THE LEVER FOR THE ENGAGE/DISENGAGE FOR THE TILT TELESCOPIC WHEEL IS VERY HARD FOR ME TO ENGAGE I'M 76 & IT TAKES A LOT OF HAND STRENGTH TO MOVE IT UP & DOWN. I COMPLAINED TO THE SERVICE PERSON AT THE DEALER ABOUT THIS BUT SHE CLAIMED THEY COULDN'T TOUCH THAT IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE; WELL I KNEW ABOUT THE SAFETY & I'M NOT ASKING TO REMOVE THE LEVER JUST MAKE IT EASIER FOR ME TO USE... SO HERE I AM ONE YEAR LATER & MY HAND & THUMB ARE PERMANENTLY DAMAGED & THE PAIN IS HORRENDOUS.. ANOTHER DEFAULT OR DEFECT FROM FORD & IN ADDITION THIS VEHICLE SHOULDN'T EVEN HAVE BEEN ON THE LOT FORD HAD ALREADY NOTIFIED DEALERS ABOUT THE PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION IN THESE MODELS SO NOW IN ADDITION TO THIS ISSUE I'M IN A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT WITH THIS NEW CAR..
NOW SECOND OCCURRANCE OF A PROBLEM WITH THE POWER STEERING. POWER ASSIST FAILS ON STARTUP WITH CAR STATIONARY AND IN MOTION. BOTH TIMES THE CAR HAD BEEN PARKED IN COLD WEATHER FOR A FEW HOURS. UNASSISTED STEERING IS VERY HIGH EFFORT AND RENDERS THE CAR ALMOST UNUSABLE. THE FIRST TIME THIS OCCURRED THE DASH WARNING LIGHT WAS ON; DEALER SERVICE FOLLOW-UP HAD THE CAR FOR FOUR DAYS BUT FAILED TO TRACE THE PROBLEM OR DOCUMENT THE FAILURE CODE. DURING LAST OCCURRENCE THE WARNING LIGHT DID NOT APPEAR. IN BOTH CASES STOPPING AND RE-STARTING THE VEHICLE CAUSED THE POWER STEERING TO FUNCTION PROPERLY AGAIN.

HELLO, I JUST BOUGHT MY 2016 FORD FIESTA ST AND I HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH IT OVERHEATING. PLEASE ADVISE. IT HAPPEN TO ME THREE TIMES NOW WHILE DRIVING.
I PICKED UP THIS NEW FORD FIESTA 5DR (AUTO TRANSMISSION) 9/29/16 & THE VEHICLE NOW HAS 1979 MILES ON ODOMETER. I NOTICED THIS TRANSMISSION ISSUE RIGHT AFTER I PICKED UP THE CAR & REPORTED THIS TO THE DEALER. THE CAR/TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO HAVE A MIND OF IT'S OWN. THE DEALER AT THE TIME COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM & TOLD ME WHEN I COULD DUPLICATE IT TO RETURN & HAVE IT CHECKED; WELL THAT'S A LITTLE HARD SINCE THE ISSUE IS NOT PRE-DETERMINED. ON 7/12/2017 AS I WAS STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT I REALIZED MY SIDE VISION WAS OBSCURED SLIGHTLY SO I THOUGHT I WOULD EASE UP TOWARDS THE STOP LINE TO CLEAR THE OBSTRUCTED VIEW, I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE SLIGHTLY IN AN EFFORT TO JUST LET THE CAR ROLL A LITTLE UNTIL I CLEARED THE OBSTRUCTED VIEW BUT INSTEAD OF MY CAR JUST ROLLING IT LUNGED FORWARD & SCARED THE LIFE OUT OF ME SO I PRESSED DOWN ON THE BRAKE TO STOP THE CAR. THERE WAS NO ONE IN FRONT OF ME & LUCKILY NO ONE IN BACK OF ME EITHER WHEN THIS HAPPENED.
I PICKED UP THIS FORD FIESTA 5DR VEHICLE 9/29/2016 (AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION) NEW & AT THAT TIME I NOTICED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN LOCK/UNLOCK LEVER FOR THE TILT/ TELESCOPIC WHEEL WAS VERY HARD FOR ME TO ENGAGE/DISENGAGE TO ADJUST THE HEIGHT OF THE STEERING WHEEL.. I ASKED AT THAT TIME IF THE LEVER COULD BE ADJUSTED FOR EASE SINCE I AM A 76 Y/O FEMALE WITH NOT MUCH STRENGTH IN MY HANDS, PERHAPS IF I WERE A 20 Y/O AGILE MALE IT WOULDN'T BE SUCH AN ISSUE.. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THEY COULD NOT ADJUST THAT SINCE IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE TO CHANGE THAT; WHILE I UNDERSTAND THE SAFETY THING I ALSO KNOW THAT MY HAND, THUMB, ARM & WRIST ARE SUFFERING FROM THIS 'DESIGN FLAW' & I WILL SPEAK WITH MY DOCTOR NEXT WEEK IN REGARD TO THIS PAIN.. I'M NOT SURE WHO DESIGNED THIS LEVER TO BE SO HARD FOR SOME PEOPLE TO USE & ADJUST BUT OBVIOUSLY THEY DIDN'T TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION OLDER FEMALE DRIVERS .. WHILE I PAID FOR THIS FEATURE OF THE TILT/ TELESCOPIC WHEEL I'M HAVING A DIFFICULT TIME TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THIS FEATURE BECAUSE OF THE LEVER ISSUE; IN ADDITION I AM SHORT SO NEED TO GET CLOSER TO THE STEERING WHEEL TO DRIVE COMFORTABLY.. SHAME ON THE AUTO DESIGNER FOR WHAT I CONSIDER A DESIGN FLAW DONE WITHOUT TESTING BEFORE RELEASING TO THE ENTIRE PUBLIC..
HAS A HESITATION WHEN YOU PRESS THE GAS PEDAL ALMOST LIKE TOO MUCH FUEL AT ONE TIME AND THEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN IT WILL LAUNCH FORWARD. WHEN THIS HAPPENS WHILE TURNING IT WILL CAUSE YOU TO REDIRECT YOUR STEERING QUICKLY OR YOU WILL END UP ON SOMEONE ELSE'S SIDE OF THE ROAD.AND WHEN PULLING OUT FROM STOP SIGNS OR SIGNAL LIGHTS IS VERY SCARY AND IS A SAFETY CONCERN FOR ME.NOT HAVING POWER WHEN NEEDED IS VERY UNSAFE FOR ME AND THE OTHER SURROUNDING DRIVERS.
CAR SHUDDERS/SHAKES WHEN I START TO DRIVE AFTER A STOPLIGHT. USUALLY HAPPENS AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN ON FOR A WHILE AND THE ENGINE IS HOT. TOOK CAR FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND NOTICED A LOT OF OIL DRIPPING FROM UNDERNEATH THE CAR LATER THAT DAY (2 INCH DIAMETER SPOTS). TOOK THE CAR TO A MECHANIC, AND THEY SAID THE SHUDDERING/SHAKING IS CAUSED BY AN ISSUE WITH THE CLUTCH. I JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW, AND DID NOT EXPECT TO HAVE AN ISSUE ALREADY. THIS IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD FIESTA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE IN AN INTERSECTION. THE FAILURE OCCURED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON TWO OTHER OCCATIONS. MANUAL TRANSMISSION VEHICLE SEEMS TO HAVE OCCASIONAL HESITATION UNDER LOAD WHEN MAINTAINING SPEED, ALL OBSERVED SPEEDS, ALL OBSERVED GEARS (ROUGHLY 30MPH TO 70MPH IN GEARS 3-5). VEHICLE HAS DONE IS SINCE NEW, (DECEMBER 26, 2016 TO PRESENT) LESS THAN 4,500 MILES ON IT AT PRESENT. BRINGING TO DEALER IN NEXT WEEK OR TWO FOR FIRST SCHEDULED OIL CHANGE, WILL HAVE THEM CHECK IT.
STEERING WHEEL PLASTIC COVER CATCHES FINGER AT 5 O'CLOCK AND 7 O'CLOCK WHEN TRYING TO TURN. PLACING FINGER AND TURNING STEERING WHEEL CATCHES FINGER AND COULD LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT. PLASTIC STICKS OUT FROM THE BLACK BACK PLASTIC THAT IT TOUCHES. IN MY CAR IT'S A GRAY ACCENT U SHAPED THAT STARTS ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE AIRBAG AND GOES DOWN AND AROUND TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE AIRBAG. THE TOUGH PART OF THE U-SHAPED GOES FROM THE LEFT AND YOU HAVE THE TELEPHONE BUTTONS RADIO BUTTONS ON ONE SIDE AND THEN YOUR CRUISE CONTROL BUTTONS ON THE OTHER IN THE CENTER OF THE TOP OF THE U-SHAP. DOWN ALONG THE BOTTOM WHEN IT TOUCHES THE OUTSIDE OF STEERING WHEEL THAT'S WHERE YOUR FINGER CAN GET CAUGHT WHEN TRYING TO TURN IT WHILE DRIVING. IF YOU REACH YOUR HAND IN THROUGH THE SMALL BOTTOM HOLES AND PULL OUT YOU CAN FILL THE EXTRA PLASTIC AND ALMOST A SHAPNESS DOWN ALONG THE BOTTOM WHEN IT TOUCHES THE OUTSIDE OF STEERING WELL THAT'S WHERE YOUR FINGER TO GET CAUGHT WHEN TRYING TO TURN IT WHILE DRIVING. IF YOU REACH YOUR HAND IN THROUGH THE SMALL BOTTOM HOLES AND PULL OUT YOU CAN FILL THE EXTRA PLASTIC AND ALMOST A SHARPNESS FROM IT .
I HAD THE HOOD ON MY FORD OPEN TODAY TO CLEAR OUT LEAVES THAT HAD GOTTEN STUCK AROUND THE VENTS UNDER THE HOOD. WHILE I HAD THE HOOD UP I NOTICED "TIN FOIL" AROUND THE WINDSHIELD WHERE IT MEETS THE FRAME OF FRONT WINDOWS.. I'M STRUCK BY THAT TIN FOIL & ON BOTH SIDES THE PASSENGER SIDE & THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD HOW SAFE IS THAT .. (TOOK THREE PICS & HOPE YOU CAN SEE IT) UPLOADED ALL 3 PICTURES.. AUTO WAS STATIONARY AT THE TIME..
CLUNK NOISE SHIFTING FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR... I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS FROM THE DAY I PICKED UP THE CAR FROM THE DEALER ON 9/29/16 (45 MILES ON CAR THEN).. I THOUGHT AT FIRST I IMAGINED IT OR JUST NEEDED TO GET USED TO THIS CAR SINCE I HAD JUST TURNED IN A 2014 LEASE CAR BACK TO TOYOTA SO BIG DIFFERENCE IN THESE 2 CARS..
DAYLIGHT RUNNING LAMPS INOPERATIVE AT TIME OF PURCHASE. PAID FOR TX INSPECTION. DISCOVERED AFTER LEAVING DEALERSHIP.
MAYBE THIS IS AN OVERSITE ON MY PART, BUT I WAS TAKING SOMEONE HOME THEY WERE SEATED IN BACKSEAT, THE DOOR WAS LOCKED, THINKING THEY COULD UNLOCK DOOR FROM THE BACK, THEY WERE UNABLE TO, I HAD TO UNLOCK BACKDOOR FROM THE FRONT (WITH BUTTON NEAR FRON CONSOLE OF CAR). I SAT IN THE BACK AND COULD NOT FIND A BUTTON TO LOCK OR UNLOCK THE BACK DOOR EXCEPT TO ASK DRIVER OR HIS PASSENGER TO UNLOCK DOOR FROM THE FRONT.. I THINK THIS IS DANGEROUS, ESPECIALLY IN AN ACCIDENT, IF SOMETHING WOULD TO HAPPEN TO THE DRIVER AND BACK PASSENGER IS TRAPPED. I STILL DO NOT KNOW WHERE A BUTTON FOR. HAD I GOTTEN OUT OF CAR AND LEFT PASSENGER IN CAR, HE WOULD HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO UNLOCK DOORS
The blue line shows 178 total NHTSA complaints filed over 10 years, with the worst year being 2022 (29 complaints, including 3 crash reports).
The amber reliability line averaged 28/100 across the vehicle's life — dropping as low as 10 in 2017 when complaint severity peaked.
Notably, despite 178 complaints on file, no recall has been issued — either the defect pattern has not met NHTSA's threshold for a formal campaign, or a recall may be forthcoming.
Red dots on the amber line flag 5 years (2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2022) where complaints included crash events — these are the highest-severity incidents in the dataset.
The 6-speed PowerShift (DPS6) dual-clutch automatic transmission suffers from shuddering, jerking, hesitation, and slipping — particularly at low speeds. Ford extended the transmission warranty as part of a class action settlement (Benkle v. Ford). Owners may be eligible for a buyback, reimbursement, or extended warranty repair depending on their state and repair history.
Coverage eligibility depends on your VIN, original sale date, and current mileage. Always verify with an authorized dealer or manufacturer customer service — programs may have been updated since this database was compiled.
