Lemon law eligibility depends on state law, number of repair attempts, and days out of service. Consult an attorney for actual eligibility.
Worn chain tensioners cause timing chain skip or snap — common on GM 5.3L/6.2L, Ford EcoBoost, VW/Audi EA888, BMW N47/N63. Listen for cold-start rattles.
Water pump failure causes rapid overheating. If the engine overheats even once, head gasket damage is likely — turning a $400 part into a $3,000+ repair.
Degraded transmission fluid destroys clutch packs and solenoids. CVT transmissions are especially sensitive — neglected fluid can result in a $4,000–$8,000 replacement.
On 4WD/AWD vehicles, neglected differential or transfer case fluid causes metal-on-metal wear. Replacement costs $1,500–$4,000.
Degraded coolant loses corrosion inhibitors and attacks aluminum engine components. Can cause head gasket failure and water pump corrosion.
Worn spark plugs cause misfires that can foul and crack catalytic converters. A $150 tune-up can prevent a $1,200 catalytic converter replacement.
Dirty or failing injectors cause rough idle, reduced fuel economy, and increased emissions. Cleaning costs $100–$200; replacement $800–$1,600.

The tires on this car are 215-55-R17 94 V, they were purchased through priority tire in September 2024 they were mounted by Mavis Tire in Lockport Illinois on April 28, 2026 while driving on the Illinois Tollway system at 7:30 in the morning the right rear tire started making a loud noise and then a pop sound. Where I proceeded to get over to the shoulder to get over to the shoulder. There was rubber trail all the way along the shoulder, where I pulled over from the tire after changing the tire and putting on the donut, I noticed a split in between the treads and the whole inner sidewall of their tire had blown out these tires were purchased as a set and when I got home, I noticed that three of the four tires were manufactured in 2023 and this tire in 2022. What concerns me is a week before this Card did a trip to Minnesota with a [XXX] grandson in the backseat. My cars are maintained meticulously, and these tires had an approximately 16,000 miles on them. I’ve never been XXX years of driving. Had a tire blowout like this. I contacted priority tire, which told me all they could do is try to help with contacting GT Radial as they are a third-party seller. I have pictures of the tire or it looks like the tire was almost destroyed. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

VEHICLE INFORMATION Year: 2018 Make: Honda Model: HR-V VIN: [XXX] Mileage at Time of Incident: 96,993 Incident Date: 03/10/2026 I am filing this complaint regarding the premature and complete failure of the CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) on my 2018 Honda HR-V with approximately 96,993 miles. DESCRIPTION OF FAILURE: The transmission on my 2018 Honda HR-V failed without prior warning. Symptoms included sudden loss of acceleration, vehicle unable to move under its own power, etc. The vehicle was taken to Page Honda of Bloomfield where it was diagnosed with a complete CVT transmission failure. The repair cost totaled $8,873. SAFETY CONCERN: This failure poses a serious safety risk. A sudden loss of transmission function while driving — particularly at highway speeds resulted in loss of vehicle control and created dangerous conditions. This is not a minor mechanical inconvenience; it is a critical safety defect. HONDA'S RESPONSE: I opened a case with Honda Customer Service; Case # XXX requesting goodwill assistance reimbursement for the repair costs. Honda denied my claim. After submitting a formal written demand, Honda agreed to reconsider, but has yet to provide full reimbursement. PATTERN OF FAILURE: I believe this is not an isolated incident. I am aware of other 2018 Honda HR-V owners who have reported the same CVT transmission failure pattern. I urge NHTSA to investigate this and help me with resolving this case. I am happy to provide additional documentation, repair invoices, and correspondence with Honda upon request. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
I was driving on the highway when all of a sudden, no warning signs, no sounds/car shaking, anything, my car started lighting up with break system, engine light, parking sign, etc. I didn't know what was going on so I pulled over. When I pulled over, I checked the parking break to see if I might have hit it and I didn't. Then the car wouldn't go. The check engine light and all the break system lights were on and my car wouldn't move. I was stuck on the side of the highway for an hour waiting for my vehicle to be towed to Dover Honda, where I always get my work completed on the car and I complete all my inspections there as well. They advised the CTV Belt snapped and when I asked how this could have happened, because I was just there a few months prior and nothing was said they advised "this just happens" and "there was no way to know". This vehicle has been inspected, multiple times over the past five years that I have owned the car and they never mentioned this could happen without warning.
On September 17. 2025 I was at a red light on Normandie Avenue and Exposition Blvd the light turned green and as I was entering the intersection going southbound my doors on the vehicle started locking and un locking, my dashboard went black and the car shut off, The Braking system malfunction, the airbag did not deploy, my knees hit the bottom part of the dashboard and my mouth hit the steering wheel knocking out several teeth. The dashboard only had an airbag code, a brake code and a vehicle with the doors opened on the screen. I had the car towed to my home and informed my insurance company of the incident, they referred me to a body shop who held my vehicle for 5 months after doing the body work, they labeled my vehicle unsafe to drive because the codes are still on the vehicle, not knowing that this body shop doesn't do electrical work. I reached out to Honda several times because they were the last ones to work on my vehicle for the fuel pump recall, but they noted VSA\ABS for the last couple of weeks I finally talked with Service Manager Marvin Cabrera and he directed me to American Honda Motors and after reaching out to them since the 3rd of February, they keep telling me about appointing an investigation inspection with the FTS (field technical specialist) and I have not received any updates about my vehicle. These are the codes that came up while using the scan tool U0416 Invalid Data Received from vehicle Dynamics Control Module, B00D5 Occupant Classification System Sensor Fault, B0090 Left Frontal Restraints Sensor Incorrect Component Installed
In a freezing cold parking lot car would not start. Had car towed to service center. Problem was gas gauge showing almost half a tank but car was out of gas. It is a bad sending unit. This is hazardous. There were no warnings or lights notifying me of a problem with the sending unit. I drive on highways at night. Potentially running out of gas on a busy highway with no warning is hazardous. Mechanic informed me this is a common problem with Honda. Over 500 dollars for a tow and diagnosis. Will cost $2200 to repair. If parts of the fuel pump were recalled why not the sending unit?????
I was driving to work and everything on the dashboard lit up. It actively showed that the car was changing gears while I was in traffic. I pulled over and the car reader gave me error - P0793. We have a 2018 Honda HRV with only 86,000 miles. The car became sluggish and sounded like something went wrong with the engine. There was no prior alarm or lights on dashboard before everything began blinking. There is a service bulletin for this issue by honda - 21-047 CVT belt deterioration warranty extension. Car is currently at Honda dealership and they denied us a good will request because we were 11 months and 29 days out of warranty.
The car after a while drives sluggish & brakes very badly even after replacing the brake pads & the roater. I have replacement everything that could affect any of these issues.
The instrument cluster within the dashboard cuts out in cold temperature preventing you from seeing your fuel, mileage, as well as oil life. It was inspected by 2 different dealerships and was told its a common problem with the Hrv's This is a common occurrence with this vehicle.
the fuel gauge, mileage don't show until the car is warmed up. this happens on a cold weather.
The dashboard light don't turn on on a cold weather day until the car is warm. The dealer charged me $215.97 in late October but it started again. Dealer says right software cluster must be replaced now.
Odometer and fuel gauge cluster on dashboard only working intermittently. Started in November 2025 in the cold weather the display would get blurry, then not work. Honda dealership confirmed problem but did not offer a recall or TSB. Only offered to replace that gauge cluster for $2,365. Safety concern as driver cannot know the amount of fuel left in the vehicle. If vehicle runs out of fuel, can cause crash.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda HR-V. The contact stated that the fuel gauge reading was intermittently inoperable. The contact stated that the failure mostly occurred while starting the vehicle, with the fuel gauge reading being displayed after driving for an extended period. The dealer was contacted and informed the contact that it was an instrument cluster failure, and there would be a charge for the repair. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
The instrument panel with the odometer and gas gauge goes out completely at random times. Before the panel goes dark, the display flickers chaotically. I always note the issue to the dealership when I service my car. On the 2nd occasion, I was told the entire panel would have to be replaced at a cost of $1800. I told the service tech that I could not afford that expense. His recommendation was to bang on an area close to the display with my fist to get it to reappear. He actually demonstrated how to do it. The Honda Dealerships are aware of the problem and admit it’s a manufacturing design flaw. I have tolerated this for several years thinking Honda would offer compensation for the problem. However, yesterday when it was working, an alert appeared in the middle of the display about an issue with my fuel cap. I’m aware that the fuel cap issue is related to a recall, but if the display had not been working I wouldn’t have seen the alert because I wasn’t aware that alerts appear on that display and I realize now that I can miss an urgent alert. To me that’s a huge safety issue! I’ve seen hundreds of complaints online about this, and I know it’s caused by cracks in the solder. I would like for Honda to be accountable and let customers have this repaired at no charge.
Just bought this car in a private party sale. As with other complaints posted on this site, the car has issues with its electrical system related to its Dashboard and specifically the right display showing the mileage, fuel gauge, outside temperature, etc. Intermittently (and possibly related to cold weather), the entire dashboard will either flicker with unintelligible information and/or go completely black where no info will show. This will happen upon start or after driving a short bit and last several minutes. Very concerning as you will not be able to view mileage and fuel levels. My guess is this has been happening for some time. There should be a recall to fix this as from looking at your complaints and internet research, this is affecting many, many vehicles.
On March 11, 2025 I took my car to Gardena Honda for a fuel pump recall for my 2018 Honda HR-v ex. On September 17, 2025 I had a system malfunction where the doors were locking and unlocking the dashboard went black and a car symbol with doors opened appear on the dash, the car shut off and I tried to brake but they did not work, I hit a car in front of me and when the airbags did not deploy I hit my mouth on the steering wheel and knock out 3 of 4 teeth that I had work done on. A scan tool was put on my vehicle when I got it home and there was two codes showing B00D5 occupant classification sensor fault and U0416 invalid data received from vehicle dynamic control module. I came to this website because i wanted to know was there any other recalls and found out there was 3 on the make model and year of my vehicle. # 135 Vehicle Brake System, low pressure fuel pump, and the fuel pump inside the fuel tank
On the driver's dashboard, the right side gauge of the dash blinks out and shows unreadable letters/characters. This makes it impossible to read this gauge and see how much fuel is remaining in the car. It is most problematic in colder months.
While driving my Honda HR-V under normal conditions around noon on Saturday on NC Highway 54, the vehicle suddenly illuminated multiple dashboard lights and began to decelerate despite pressing the accelerator. The steering became extremely hard to maneuver, the brakes did not respond, and I was unable to activate the hazard lights due to an electrical malfunction—putting my life and the lives of others in jeopardy. My car gave me no prior warning signs of this issue. It had been serviced at Autopark Honda Service Center on September 19, 2025, including a transmission service, and nothing abnormal (such as debris or metal) was noted or communicated to me. After the incident and I had my car towed to Autopark Honda, I was informed that the transmission had failed. I later learned of Honda Service Bulletin #21-047 (April 27, 2021) concerning premature CVT belt deterioration in 2016–2020 HR-V models. Despite this known issue, Honda has refused responsibility because my vehicle is about 10 months beyond the 7-year warranty extension. This sudden failure caused complete loss of power, steering, braking, and hazard functions, representing a serious safety risk that warrants investigation.
my name is [XXX] . My address is [XXX] , phone number [XXX] . I purchased a 2018 Honda HR-V and on yesterday I was driving on the beltway when my engine stalled. The car slowed down n the dashboard became black. It happened at 415pm and I put hazard lights on. Traffic was moving fast and I had just a small area to pull over. I turned the car key off and started the car again n proceeded to drive again. It was very scary. I looked for recalls with my vin number and didn’t see anything. I looked at the issues with my type car n that’s one issue with engine stalling for fuel pumps. I have a full tank of gas. I travel out of town a lot. I need you to add my car to the recall for fuel pump issue. Here is the vin number: [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
I am submitting this complaint regarding a severe and widespread paint peeling/delamination defect on my 2018 Honda HR-V, which is painted in the White Orchid Pearl (NH-788P) color. Nature of the Defect: The exterior clear coat and base coat are separating from the underlying primer, resulting in large, unsightly patches of paint peeling and flaking off the vehicle's body panels. This is a clear manufacturing adhesion failure, not damage due to wear, tear, or external environmental factors. Manufacturer Acknowledgment: American Honda Motor Co., Inc. previously acknowledged this defect by issuing a Warranty Extension (Technical Service Bulletin 19-064, issued August 29, 2019) for specific models, including the 2016-2018 HR-V, extending the warranty coverage for this specific paint problem to 7 years from the original date of purchase with no mileage limit. The Current Issue: My vehicle has recently begun exhibiting this peeling condition, which is consistent with the defect covered under TSB 19-064. However, I have been informed by the dealer/Honda Customer Service that the 7-year warranty extension period has expired as of 2024, and they are refusing to cover the cost of the necessary repainting, which can cost thousands of dollars. Request for Action: The underlying problem is a manufacturing defect that exists for the life of the vehicle and is only now manifesting due to premature failure. Limiting the remedy to a seven-year period is inadequate for a defect that is inherent to the production process and directly affects the vehicle's structural integrity over time (potential for rust exposure). I respectfully request that the Office of Defects Investigation review the data related to this known manufacturing defect (Honda White Pearl Paint Peeling, TSB 19-064) and consider the following actions: Re-open or Extend the Investigation: Investigate the ongoing nature of this failure and the adequacy of Honda’s limited remedy. Compel an Expanded Remedy: Pressure
We initially chose this Honda vehicle as we are Honda owners and valued their reliability. While driving with my six year old son in the car our HRV it started shaking anytime I accelerated. No check engine lights or other lights came on but I turned back home and drove my husbands car before taking my car into the shop where they diagnosed it as a CVT transmission failure. There was a recall issued for this vehicle due to transmission issues tied to the CVT and in 2022 we did have the software update that was supposed to resolve this issue. It did not and this transmission failed, our case for good will assistance was denied and we are left with a $9,000.00 problem in addition to the nearly $7,000.00 still owed on this vehicle that we purchased in 2021 (we are second . Any Honda owners looking to purchase the 2018 HRV should consider their probability of failure due to the CVT transmission that no longer falls under their extended recall warranty. It really is a disappointment to know that Honda does not standby their product seeing as their customers invest thousands of dollars into these purchases. In summary Honda acknowledged this CVT defect, extended coverage, and even performed their product update on my vehicle. Despite that, my CVT failed prematurely from the same issue, only months outside the time window but far under the mileage limit. Honda denied assistance for reasons unrelated to the defect itself (service history and number of Hondas in their system), refused to provide a written denial, and blocked escalation to higher review. My case number is 15868599.
2018 Honda HRV EX AWD premature CVT transmission failure at 68,314 miles. Problem diagnosed and confirmed by an independent mechanic on July 10th and by a Honda Dealership on July15th. I had to pay the Honda dealership to replace the transmission. I do not know where the old transmission was sent or if it was inspected, could contact Honda Dealership for further information. Safety of myself, passengers and other vehicles were at risk due to sluggish excelaration, jerky movements and at times unable to get the vehicle to move at all. These actions could have caused a rear end crash, front end crash or side crashes due to other vehicles not knowing what was happening. I did not have the control or the ability to move the vehicle off the road. July 3, 2025 dash lights unexpedtedly came on with no prior warning. Dashboard lights were a yellow P(parking) with an exclamation point, Red PARK light, yellow brake system light and a yellow check engine light. All lights led me to believe there was a problem with the braking system or the emergency brake was engaged. No lights indicating a transmission problem.
I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding a defect in my 2018 Honda HR-V, specifically with the White Orchid Pearl paint (paint code NH-788P). This issue appears to be widespread, as evidenced by a previous warranty extension issued by Honda in 2019 and ongoing class action lawsuits related to paint delamination on affected models. I purchased a 2018 Honda HR-V in June 2020, unaware of any pre-existing paint defects. Recently, I have noticed significant peeling of the paint on the roof in four distinct places. The affected paint is the White Orchid Pearl color with code NH-788P, which matches the vehicles covered under Honda's 2019 warranty extension for paint delamination issues. This extension was issued following reports of the clear coat and paint layers separating, leading to peeling, flaking, and exposure of the underlying primer or metal. This defect is not due to any fault of my own, such as improper maintenance or environmental damage beyond normal use. The vehicle has been garaged and maintained according to Honda's recommendations. Despite this, the paint failure has resulted in an estimated devaluation of my vehicle by up to $5,000, based on comparable market values for similar models without this issue. I have no recourse through Honda, leaving me with significant financial loss and a vehicle that is aesthetically compromised and potentially prone to further deterioration, such as rust if the peeling exposes metal. While paint peeling may not immediately present as a safety hazard, it could lead to other issues and Honda should be accountable for their vehicles. I request that NHTSA investigate this matter, review the existing warranty extension and TSB, and consider mandating a recall or further extension to cover repairs for affected owners like myself. Please contact me at [XXX] or [XXX] for any additional information.. Thank you for your attention to this complaint. I look forward to your response. The contact purchased a 2018 Honda HR-V for his daughter. The contact stated that while his daughter was driving approximately 55 MPH, the vehicle started losing motive power. The driver became aware of several unknown warning lights illuminated before the vehicle unintendedly decelerated to 15 MPH. The driver was able to pull over and stop the vehicle. The vehicle was then towed to a mechanic. The contact stated that the mechanic advised that there was a known issue with the CVT transmission and referred the contact to the dealer for assistance. The vehicle was towed to a dealer, where the vehicle was diagnosed, and it was determined that there were metal shavings found inside the transmission fluid. The contact called the manufacturer about a warranty coverage program for the CVT transmission. The contact was advised that his daughter's vehicle was not covered under warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified about the failure and filed a case for the contact. The failure mileage was approximately 112,000.
The odometer displays keeps lagging and the display goes out. This is a common problem with this vehicle. It should be addressed because the vehicle isn’t running at is fullest potential.
Fuel pump is failing and not properly propelling the fuel which is causing the car not to start correctly and failing during driving
I am writing to report a serious safety concern involving my vehicle. The car has exhibited repeated instances of unintended activation while parked and left untouched. Specifically, the entire electrical system—including the dashboard, infotainment, and other electronic components—powers on and off spontaneously without any user interaction. This behavior raises significant safety and reliability concerns, especially when the vehicle is unattended. I am requested for a thorough investigation into this issue to determine the root cause and to ensure that appropriate corrective measures are taken to prevent potential hazards. Honda service center identified the issue is caused by 'Body Control Module'. They even indicated that the fault is in the software and the unit and user has nothing to do with it and asked me to check with Honda company. When i asked the company they said no recalls for this VIN and asked me to file a complaint here. My car has driven only 36K miles and its like a brand new car still. This is not even my fault and its a big safety issue. I ended up paying $1400 for the whole thing since i am in need of a car right now for all the doctor appointments and i didn't even got a rental car while the repair is going on which is like 4 days. This costed me so much money and headache. Also i have seen the same issue reported online by many folks using Honda at that year. Please take the ticket forward as this is a major safety issue. Please help in recall and reimburse my money
While driving the car to work the instrument cluster LCD display began to glitch showing garbled information on the fuel as well as effecting the speedometer reading. Having inaccurate speedometer reading due to a faulty instrument cluster can put others at risk due to not knowing your exact speed. There were no indications of a problem prior to this incident. Upon discussion with several HRV owners and forums this issue is likely caused by cracked solder joints on the board for the instrument cluster. The leadfree solder used appears to fail causing connection issues for the pins on the board and erratic read outs and displays. I plan to have the dealer look at the vehicle shortly. This problem is known and reported prolifically on discussion boards. Honda has released several service notices internally related to this issue for CRVs and Civics, but no recalls and not for HRVs.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda HR-V. The contact stated that while his daughter attempted to start the vehicle, the vehicle was able to start after several attempts. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked overnight, the headlights and an alarm would independently engage, causing the battery to fail. The contact stated that the electrical systems had engaged independently. Additionally, the contact stated that vehicle had stalled while idling. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer to be diagnosed, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The vehicle remained at the dealer, where it was later diagnosed that the Body Control Module(BCM) had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not yet been repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and a case was filed. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000.
White pearl paint has started peeling off the roof of my car. It is not a safety issue. Honda is declining to cover the extended warranty on the paint although I brought it to the dealer before the warranty was up. The dealer took photos and informed me they would be contacting Honda Corporate. Honda Corporate states the dealer did not contact them.
On the driver's dashboard, the right side gauge of the dash blinks out and shows unreadable letters/characters. This makes it impossible to rear this gauge and see how much fuel is remaining in the car.
I am writing to report a serious issue with the paint on my white pearl Honda HR-V. The roof paint began peeling in 2023, and I initially attempted a minor repair using a paint pen from AutoZone. However, the problem has worsened significantly over the past six months. Recently, I took the vehicle to Maaco for an estimate, and they quoted approximately $2,400 to repaint the roof and side panels. I also contacted the dealership where I purchased the vehicle, and they confirmed that I had purchased an extended warranty which expired in October 2024. After researching the issue, I discovered that paint peeling is a common and widely reported problem for white pearl Honda models. I spoke with both American Honda and the dealership on July 2025, and while the Honda representative acknowledged that they are receiving many similar complaints, they stated that the company is still investigating the root cause and does not currently offer compensation. They classified the issue as normal wear and tear. I keep my vehicle well maintained, and it is only 8 years old. I strongly believe this is a manufacturing defect, not a result of neglect or environmental wear. I would like to formally file a complaint and request that Honda take responsibility for this issue. Thank you for your time and attention. I can provide additional photographs, repair estimates, and additional documentation upon request.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda HR-V. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The local dealer was contacted, and it was confirmed that the part was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to immediately start. The cause of the failure was not yet been determined. The failure mileage was 22,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
The instrument cluster, specifically the odometer, fuel gauge, etc. (Right side) Rarely lights up to show how much fuel is in the tank, oil life, or mileage, potentially leaving you stranded or running out of gas while driving. Dealership has confirmed and said it would be $1,500+ to replace the entire cluster.
Complaint to NHTSA – Honda HR-V Transmission Failure and Safety Risk I purchased a used 2018 Honda HR-V, and the day after purchase, I noticed unusual noises coming from the vehicle. I took it to a certified Honda dealer, where they updated the transmission software without my consent or prior notice. After the update, the car suddenly stalled on the highway, creating a serious safety risk. The dealership then informed me that the transmission is failing, and that this is a wider issue among HR-Vs. There is a known extended warranty (7 years/150,000 miles) on the CVT transmission, but my vehicle is only 6 months past the time limit and still under 110,000 miles. Honda Corporate has denied a goodwill claim, despite the safety issue and my history as a loyal Honda customer. I currently own four Honda vehicles, and this situation has raised major concerns about the safety and reliability of the HR-V’s transmission. I’m filing this complaint because I believe this is part of a systemic transmission defect that has not been adequately addressed, and the sudden failure after a dealer-initiated update poses a significant safety hazard.
I just want to get my recall done. It’s almost 2 years since the recall was announced and no one is able to do my car. I called Open Road Honda a bunch of times, last year they told me parts are not available. I have been following up since then every few months since honda sent a letter that parts are available. I just get sent to voicemail and no one calls back. I tried to call Honda to report but they just tell me to call local Honda dealerships. Something needs to be done with this before my car breaks.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda HR-V. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
Every honda I have had, civic, accord, Hrv, have had issues with the driver side sun visor. It will not stay up and it makes seeing out the windshield an issue. Also the rearview mirror developed black marks going across a big one portion of the bottom part of the mirror. Making it difficult to see everything.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda HR-V. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, a message was displayed to "Check fuel cap". After refueling the vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to the repair under NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The VIN was included, and the vehicle had been repaired by the dealer. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 102,000.
I was driving on the highway and suddenly my 2018 Honda HRV had a power failure, with the dash flashing and loss of acceleration. Luckily, I was able to coast off the highway with hazards on. After numerous power cycles, I was able to get the car into limp mode but could not go over 30mph. I took it to the dealer and was diagnosed to be the known Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) issue. My car is in great condition, with only 97k miles. I was at the dealership only a week before for the fuel injector recall, and this transmission issue was not mentioned. According to Service Bulletin 21-0467, the extended warranty to cover the CVT defect covers 7 years and 150k miles -- unfortunately, my car was is an 7 years and 1 month old according to the "delivery date" in Honda's system. I am still trying to verify this claim. I was denied all warranty and goodwill from Honda and quoted over $10,000 for the repair. I called the corporate contact (America Honda Motor Co.) to no avail. Both the dealer and corporate offices deny any liability for a known defect, after having brought the car to their service center just days before the warranty allegedly ended.
Odometer has been glitching due to freezing temps. Mileage seems to still be tallying but yesterday in temp of 10 degrees F, meter was glitching badly. Seems to be fine when warmed up but even button on dash to see trips becomes difficult to push. Sometimes turning car on the odometer is blank and will turn off the car and back on again to have it pull back up. Gas gauge and light still function even with glitching. Have read that other makes are having this issue as well.
Car completely died at a stop light while in drive but just stopped. Restarted it and it was sluggish. 2 red lights came on in middle of display but disappeared before I could see what they were.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda HR-V. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the local dealer for Technical Service Bulletin: 19-064. While at the dealer, the front windshield cracked. The vehicle was repaired. The contact became aware that the repair was completed with an aftermarket windshield. The contact stated that there was water leaking around the windshield. There was no warning lights illuminated. The local dealer was contacted again, but the vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

The rear camera produces distorted images during and after rain, snow, dust or other road or atmospheric conditions. The defect in the camera's design creates significant safety risks because the driver cannot see obstacles, including people, behind the car when backing up. The vehicle has not been taken to a dealer, independent service center, manufacturer, police or insurance representative. There are no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms (other than the distorted images) of the problem. Also, there does not appear to be a way to change the brightness of the video screen, which makes it difficult to see images at night.
The MPG gauge on the instrument cluster does not light up. This part of the instrument cluster also displays mileage, fuel levels and temperature. This is a safety risk due to not being able to determine fuel levels and mpg ranges at the minimum. This issue for me started 4 months ago on my 2018 Honda HRV with 80k miles on it. This issue has been reported to Honda for vehicles ranging from 2018-2023 models HRV, crv, pilots and fit. The issue has been determined to be that Honda manufacturers the instrument cluster by using lead free solder which over time, the solder cracks from exterior temperature rising and dropping. The damage is these cracks cause the instrument clusters sensors to not function properly and completely fail. Honda suggests buying a new instrument cluster however, the replacement instrument cluster is manufactured with the same lead free solder and this will only be an issue again down the road. Honda dealerships have not yet acknowledged that the lead free solder on the backside of instrument cluster is the problem. The instrument cluster is quoted at $1,300.00. I believe Honda should be investigating this and correcting it as this is a safety risk for a wide range of their vehicles.
Dangerous image quality of backup camera: The red arrow in the attached picture (taken at night and in light rain) points to the wheel of a vehicle. Looking only the camera's image, you would never know that it was there. Making matters worse, the display emits a very bright, white, low contrast image that blinds you. This prevents you from seeing anything in the side-view mirrors. While in REVERSE the brightness setting of the display has no effect, its always full brightness. The display cannot be turned off while in REVERSE. When backing up in the rain, you are only guessing where you are headed. Camera image in dry, daylight conditions is poor as well . It's been this way since I purchased the car in 2022. Back then, dealer said that it looked normal to them. I've backed into a car on one occasion doing only minimal damage.

I left my car in the Fort Lauderdale airport parking garage for one week. When I came back from vacation the car started, pulled out of the spot and then refused to move. I had to have it towed for $700 all the way to my home in palm beach gardens. 52 miles at 7pm. This happened in July of 2023 and there is still no parts available to replace the faulty fuel pump.

The component on the right of the dash regularly does not display anything which includes fuel level, odometer/mile range, temperature, and time among other information. This has been occurring for over a year. My two biggest issues are that I can't see how much gas I have left and that the odometer isn't always viewable. The gas tank is a constant issue because I worry about getting stranded somewhere because I didn't know. You have to be incredibly careful to catch the display on the occasion it does turn on and guess as to when you need to refuel because most of the time you can't see it on the dash. The odometer is the other issue. When getting my car serviced, I've had workers unable to read the odometer and this could be a huge issue with the DMV if they can't read my mileage. I won't be able to register my car if they need to inspect my car including for an emission test. My car will fail because the dashboard doesn't display correctly.

Vehicle stalled while driving. The fuel pump had failed and needed to be replaced. Car was otherwise in good working condition and we had no indication anything was wrong before the vehicle stalled- only about 43000 miles on vehicle.
The dial on the dashboard that gives gas tank I do, speed and time do not light up or appear all jumbled if it is below 60 degrees outside. This is not cool.
Car alarm keeps going off when left untouched, even when isolated in garage. After observance, the car will attempt to start itself when no one is in the car and when the car is off.

*How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? -YES. [XXX] Burbank, CA, intersection [XXX] and [XXX] [XXX] ) There was a huge rainfall this evening. I was heading east on [XXX] and was about to make a "U" going back opposite direction. Making sure there is no on going or opposite traffic, safely i made a "U" turn on a parking lot, the first parking spot..and some of a sudden i realised that my car was touched some obstacle. It was a street light pole but from that pole there was a supporting 45 degrees angle metal wire going across a parking spot! I was not able to see a metal wire because of a light reflection and working windshield wipers.! This metal wire went through my front of a car and cracked the front bumper, left fender i was not able to open my driver door. My speed by doing "U" turn was about 5 miles per hour.. I called to my insurance took a picture of an incident location they came up to me with an estimate $1.553.00... This is insane and might be definitely dangerous for motorcycles and scooters. I have all the pictures, and video as well. Thank you! INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Cluster gauge shuts off in cold weather. This gauge has the odometer and gas gauge.
Paint peeling for the 3rd time
Car slowed down during traveling out of town. It appeared to lose power and we had to pull over. After trying to restart it nothing happened which caused us to call for help via AAA assistance!
Instrument gauge cluster circuit holders are failing. As a result, the odometer screen, screen for oil and gas do not light up. This is dangerous as you are unable to know when you need to fill up or if your car has enough oil. It can result in running out of gas in an unsafe location or ceasing the engine.
Instrument panel periodically fails to display fuel information. Panel will either turn off entirely or flash in random patterns. At worst, this results in not knowing how much fuel is left in the vehicle (and not even being able to see a low gas warning), which could lead to running out of gas in unsafe situations. The odometer and warning display text indicators are also affected, which are potential safety hazards. Other non-essential functions (outside temperature, trip meter, clock, and instant fuel economy) are also affected. The problem was confirmed by a dealership, but has not been inspected by police or an insurance representative. There were no messages or symptoms prior to the failure, which began occurring around 3 years after purchase of the vehicle. The first time I documented the failure was March of 2022.
The HR-V is four years old, and in the past month, the LCD display, which shows the driver the current fuel level, current miles per gallon, and, most importantly, the odometer, has intermittently stopped working and gone completely blank while driving (see photo attached). The display sometimes stays off for ten or more minutes before showing gibberish numbers that do not correspond to the proper odometer, temperature, and miler per gallon readings. I reported the incident to the local Honda dealership during my normal tune up, but they were not able to reproduce the issue. There are an abundance of online Honda forums where this same issue is reported. This is an obvious defect with 2018 Honda HR-Vs. This is a safety concern as this problem can lead to the odometer not properly recording the accurate miles driven and may not accurately be showing the driver how much fuel is left. There are no other warning lamps or other symptoms of the problem other than it happens most often when the temperature is below 40 degrees Fahrenheit.
Fuel gauge screen goes out completely and randomly shows up glitches. Serious safety concern because you're unable to determine the fuel you have left in your tank. Also, unable to determine your vehicle mileage and trip mileage. Unable to determine the engine oil life and the maintenance minder.
Paint started peeling 2 months after I bought it from the Honda dealership. I have had 2 appointments with them about it and nothing has been done. No call or email. 6 months into buying the vehicle I was getting onto the highway and my vehicle wasn't excellerating then it picked up. The vehicle does that every month atleast 4 times. Also since I bought this car when I unlocked my doors they lock themselves when I open the door. Takes me 10 tries to get into the car. And if I leave the keys in the car the car will lock it self with the keys in it!
The odometer/gas gauge was shorting out, coming on sometimes and showing partial characters others. It would not come on and stay on as intended. Without the gas gauge it was near impossible to know when the gas had been depleted and I was unable to get the car inpescted without the odometer showing due to the mechanic needing to photograph the mileage for the inspection.
Fuel gauge instrument will sometimes show jumbled letters/numbers or be completely blank. Upon driving for a while it will go back to normal. Not able to recreate on command so the dealership will not help me other than charge me to look at it without guarantee they will fix it since they won’t be able to recreate it. I looked online many people are also complaining about this issue and had to have the instrument cluster replaced. I do not want to pay for someone to just look at it and not fix the issue. The car doesn’t even have 2000 miles on it yet, this has to be a factory issue or something. I am concerned that it will just stop working and that is not safe since I won’t be able to determine the fuel level.
The differential broke. I was unable to accelerate on the road; it froze up. I had to pull over and couldn't drive it. I was just outside of the HOnda dealer when it happened. I took it to the Honda Dealer Service Center in MD and this was their diagnosis.I didn't take it anywhere else. There were no warnings except I heard rattling when I was at a lower speed the same afternoon about 3 hours earlier. Otherwise, I had just completed a 100k service literally 2 weeks beforehand at Honda Service and the Honda Service Center didn't report anything wrong with the car.
Display console does not come on. After driving for about an hour, it comes on. It’s been going on for over a year.
On 8/10/2023, around 9:25 AM, at the parking lot of Jet Propulsion Laboratory, 4800 Oak Grove Drive, Pasadena, CA, I was pulling into a parking spot, moving very slowly. I was about to stop when the car suddenly took off in full speed, went over the concrete barrier toward hilly area covered with shrubs. That impact stopped the car, but half of my car was in the shrubs. It happened so fast that I didn't have a chance to break or anything. The car went into the shrub where nobody or no other car was around. Please see the attached photos. The bumper on the drive side is damaged and the car suffered some scratches and small broken parts. Prior to this incident, we experienced some minor incidents such as : - Car would not start at the first try and we had to try multiple times. We took the car to the dealer we purchased the vehicle and they replaced battery. Even after the replacement of the battery, it occurred couple more times. - Speaker announced to release the parking break when it was released and I was driving the car already. We took the car to the dealer and they ran diagnostics but didn't find anything. - The window on the front driver side gets sticky sometimes if left overnight. We took the car to the dealer and they ran diagnostics but didn't find anything. We took the car to the dealer again this morning (8/11/2023) and talked to the service representative. She looked at our record and we found out some of or complaints were not recorded. The contact stated that the dealer found that the electronic brake switch was turned on with no indication that it was on. The disc brake pads were also replaced since they were worn out.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda HR-V. The contact stated that while driving at 60 MPH, several unknown warning lights illuminated, and the vehicle inadvertently decelerated to 20 MPH. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was opened; however, no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 95,861.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the instrument cluster was randomly flickering off and on and sometimes became inoperable. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. During the failure, the fuel gauge and engine temperature gauge could not be viewed by the driver. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 18,000.
Fuel monitoring systems on dashboard going on and off while driving
Engine suddenly lost power on highway 5 times in last 6 months and would not restart for approximately 12 hours. To lose power at 75 mph on a busy highway risks accidents and injury to driver, passengers, and potentially other drivers on the road. Tow truck drivers and passengers are witnesses to this happening. We have had it towed to the dealer each time and they cannot find any problem. No warning prior to the problem.
1. The dealership assembled a new engine and pulse control module. 2. 1st issue was the car wasn’t in safe condition to drive due to knocking noise. 2nd issue is that the pedal wasn’t working properly as had to pull over to the shoulder and then the car wouldn’t leave from a parked state, brake light was on, and engine overheating. 3rd issue got car back with a smoke/cigarette/burn odor and jittering / stuttering when put in a stopped state transitioning to a moving state. 3. Yes, Bill Page Honda in Falls Church. 4. Yes 5. No warning prior to failure 07/28/22: car experienced loud knocking noise upon being turned on and got it towed to dealership on 07/29/22. Dealership got a new engine for the 1st issue and I picked up the car in September 2022 but upon driving it for the first time since the 1st issue, experienced pedal not functioning to accelerate and engine overheating causing me to get car towed back to dealership on 09/20/22. 10/02/22 picked up the car from the dealership and I noticed a burn / smoke odor left on the car. Let me be clear that neither I nor anyone who has stepped foot in my vehicle smokes so this was quire alarming. Also, while driving it I noticed my car started to jerk / stutter / hesitate whenever it was in a non-moving position transitioning to a moving position. 10/10/22 I returned my car back to the dealership due to the 3rd issue regarding the odor and jittering / stuttering issue. 11/30/22 picked up the car as the dealership informed me the car was ready with the issues resolved, however upon getting the car back and driving it back home I experienced the same issues and they didn’t resolve the odor problem. Even after the fact of bringing it to the dealership for the past 4 months, more issues keep surfacing making it more and more dangerous to handle my vehicle and I’m not trustworthy of it nor my dealership that’s been attempting to resolve issues under my active car warranty.
Multiple times per week recently, the car will not turn over when starting the car, while all dash lights light up like a Christmas tree. There is no pattern when it just decides to act up…recently 2-3 times a week, in the past 2-3 times a month, it seems random. Sometimes, after it will not start and I leave it alone for some time I.e.: 30-60 minutes, and try to start it again, the car starts right up with no issue. This has left this female driver of this 2018 HR-V stranded numerous times. Several times it happened while driving, the car shuts off at low speed, and won’t start again. It has become a major concern that it can become a death trap. This car has just over 10k miles on it… it’s barely broken in….And with brand new battery just replaced !!!!!!
Flashing light park & red check engine appeared. Car would not move & was jerking & lunging forward. Stopped on road with heavy traffic & very concerned for my safety.
THE PAINT ON THE ROOF IS PEELING AND GROWS BIGGER BY THE DAY...
The contact owns a 2018 Honda HR-V. The contact stated while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start immediately. The contact stated that the vehicle started after several attempts. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle and driving, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and diagnosed as alternator failure. The alternator was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The contact researched online and linked the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V314000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The dealer was notified of the information however, the contact was informed that the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.
A 27 mph head on collision. Drivers side door does not open. Approximately 6,500.00 worth of damage. Not 1 airbag deployed. Driver was wearing seat belt. The car is approx. 4 yrs old. well maintained. Inspected not long before the accident. I am very concerned at 27mph head on collision the air bags do not deploy, At what speed will they?? Or will they deploy at all? The HR-V has a 5 star rating. I will not even give my honda a 1/2 star at this point
While driving sometimes I would have to step harder than normal on the brakes to get the vehicle to slow down for some reason felt like it wasn't responding well. I feel the fuel pump isn't running properly. When I was at a stop light and even while driving several time I would accelerate and would feel like it wasn't reasoning to me pressing on the gas pedal. Please help get this fixed almost crashed!! Multiple times.
While at a stop light, we heard a very loud popping sound that came from above us. We instantly got out of the car and realized that the sunroof exploded. It seemed out of no where. There was a very large hole in the sunroof and there were pieces of glasswork everywhere.
The paint on my car has started to chip away and will eventually result in rust. I have contacted Honda multiple times and have heard back zero times.
Car started and stopped. After rain a puddle of water only on driver’s side
Leak thru rooftop and water coming thru the passenger side. Affected sensor transmission and brake system red lights turn on. Need to replace sensor transmission and rooftop
WHENEVER I STEP ON THE BRAKES WHILE DRIVING ON A BUMPY ROAD OR ANY TYPE OF BUMP THE BRAKE PEDAL JITTERS HEAVILY FEELING LIKE THE BRAKES GIVE OUT FOR THAT FEW SECONDS. SCARES ME TO THINK THAT THE BRAKES MIGHT GIVE OUT OR STOP WORKING.
I TRIED TO SWERVE TO AVOID HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME
WHILE DRIVING I NOTICED A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR. TOOK IT IN AND HONDA CHANGED OUT MY SHOCKS. I WENT IN A FEW MONTHS LATER AND THE EQUIPMENT THEY PUT ON IS NOW LEAKING AND THE LOUD NOISE IS BACK. HONDA NOW REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING WITH THIS PART BEING A 50-60,000 MILE PART AND I HAVE NOT DRIVEN THAT FAR.
DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED, THE CAR LOST POWER AND WOULD NOT DRIVE OVER 40 MPH. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE TRANSMISSION HAD METAL SHAVING IN THE FLUID AND THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED.
MY 2018 HONDA HR-V REAR BRAKES ARE WEARING UNEVENLY. IS THIS RELATED TO RECALL #18V777000 ON THE REAR BRAKE CALIPERS WITH INADEQUATE CYLINDER LINING? THE VEHICLE PASSED A NEW YORK STATE INSPECTION IN OCTOBER 2020.
THE PAINT ON MY 2018 HONDA HR-V IS CHIPPING ON ALMOST EVERY SURFACE OF THE VEHICLE. IT STARTED ON THE ROOF, WHICH HAS TURNED INTO ABOUT A 2FT IN LENGTH SURFACE, AND IT IS NOW PEELING ON ALL 4 DOORS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 HONDA HR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE PARKING LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHTS REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER POHANKA HONDA LOCATED AT 1772 RITCHIE STATION CT, CAPITOL HEIGHTS, MD 20743 WHO DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FAILURES WERE RELATED TO A PREVIOUS REPAIR PERFORMED UNDER THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V314000 (FUEL SYSTEM). NO FURTHER INFORMATION WAS AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000.
RCV'D RECALL NOTICE AT END OF JULY FOR FUEL PUMP MODULE WITH 'OUT OF SPECIFICATION IMPELLERS. OVERTIME, THESE IMPELLERS MAY ABSORB AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF FUEL AND DEFORM. A DEFORMED IMPELLER MAY CAUSE THE FUEL PUMP TO STOP WORKING'. DID NOT RECEIVE NOTIFICATION UNTIL THE END OF JULY 2020 WHEN THE RECALL WAS SET IN MAY 2020. DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED VEHICLE WAS UNAWARE OF THE RECALL AND CHECKED IN THE BEGINNING OF AUGUST SAYING THE PARTS WERE NOT YET RELEASED BY HONDA. FINALLY, ON 8/26/20 I CONTACTED CORPORATE WHO INDICATED THE PART HAD BEEN RELEASED A FEW WEEKS PRIOR. DEALER PUT IN A NEW FUEL PUMP WHICH APPARENTLY FIXES THE PROBLEM BUT UPON PICKING IT UP THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE SMELLED VERY STRONG OF GASOLINE. THE HONDA MECHANIC REASSURED IT WAS JUST FUMES FROM THE REPAIR SINCE THEY ACCESS PUMP TO THE FUEL TANK FROM INSIDE THE VEHICLE . HOWEVER, ON THE ROUGHLY 20 MILE RIDE HOME THE SMELL OF GASOLINE GOT WORSE SO MUCH THAT WE HAD TO ROLL THE WINDOWS DOWN BECAUSE WE WERE GETTING A HEADACHE AND OVER TAKEN BY THE GASOLINE SMELL. WE STOPPED AT A GAS STATION TO FILL THE VEHICLE TANK WHICH WAS DOWN TO ABOUT 1/4 TANK. WHEN THE GAS ATTENDANT FILLED THE TANK ALL THE GAS STARTED LEAKING OUT FROM UNDER THE CAR. CAR WAS PUSHED AWAY FROM THE PUMP. GAS CONTINUED TO POUR FROM UNDERNEATH AS A STEADY STREAM THEN AFTER ABOUT A HALF HOUR TO A DRIP. VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO DEALER WHO THE NEXT DAY THOUGHT THE WING NUT TO HOLD THE PUMP GASKET LOOSENED AND ASSURED IT WAS FIXED. THEY FILLED THE TANK DROVE IT , SAID IT WAS FINE. I LEFT IT OVERNIGHT, AND THE NEXT DAY THEY CHECKED THE VEHICLE AND SAW GASOLINE STILL WAS LEAKING OUT FROM AN UNDETERMINED AREA UNDER THE VEHICLE . WHY WAS THE PART NOT RELEASED FOR SO LONG?HONDA REPAIR GARAGE HAS NOT YET DETERMINED WHERE THE LEAK IS AND WHAT IS DEFECTIVE AT THE TIME THIS IS WRITTEN 3 DAYS AFTER THE RECALL 'REPAIR'
VIN: [XXX] YEAR: 2018 MAKE: HONDA MODEL: HR-V WHILE DRIVING THROUGH TOWN AT AROUND 35 MPH, THE CAR STARTED DOING A PULSATING SENSATION. AS WE GOT UP TO HIGHWAY SPEED AND DRIVING FROM (08/08/2020), BOISE, IDAHO TO BELLEVUE WASHINGTON THE "ORANGE LIGHT" CAME ON AND STARTED FLASHING AND LOST ALL POWER. PULLED OVER "SAFELY" ON THE SIDE OFF THE ROAD TO LET THE ENGINE COOL DOWN FOR ABOUT 1 HOUR. THERE WAS NO LIGHT THAT CAME ON INDICATING THAT THE ENGINE WAS OVERHEATING. (08/10/2020) HONDA OF KIRKLAND HAS HAD THE HRV FOR 1 WEEK NOW, AND THEY SAY THAT THEY CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR "NO CODES". WE ASKED THE "SERVICE ADVISOR THAT WORKS FOR HONDA OF KIRKLAND" IF IT IS SAFE AND OKAY TO DRIVE THE CAR, HE TOLD US IT IS SAFE AND OKAY TO DRIVE THE HRV. WE PICKED UP THE CAR, AND AGAIN WE FILL THE SAME PULSATION/HESITATION ISSUE AS BEFORE. THEY STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY CODES, EVEN THOUGH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS FLASHING WHEN THIS HAPPENED. THEY ALSO STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS DARK IN COLOR, AND TO ONLY CHANGE THE TRANSMISSION FLUID ONLY WHEN THE CARS COMPUTER MAINTENANCE INDICATOR SAYS TO. (NOTE THE MAINTENANCE INDICATOR NEVER CAME ON INDICATING TO SERVICE THE TRANSMISSION, BASED OFF THE CODE THAT WOULD COME ON THE DASH). INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 HONDA HR-V. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V314000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. BAY RIDGE HONDA (8801 4TH AVE, BROOKLYN, NY 11209) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PART WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE CV TRANSMISSION ON MY 2018 HR-V EXHIBITS AN OSCILLATORY INCREASING AND DECREASING SPEED BEHAVIOR AT AROUND 2500 ENGINE RPM WHEN UNDER MINIMAL LOAD, I.E.; GOING UP A SMALL HILL. THIS IS PROMINENT ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN GOING UP A VERY SLIGHT GRADE UNDER STEADY STATE THROTTLE, BUT ALSO NOTICEABLE AT LOW SPEED, LIKE 15 MPH, WHEN GOING UP A LITTLE BIT STEEPER HILL, LIKE MY DRIVEWAY. I HAD COMPLAINED REPEATEDLY TO HONDA DEALERS AND THE FACTORY ABOUT THIS, BUT THE TECHS WERE JUST DRIVING THE VEHICLE AROUND THE NEIGHBORHOOD AND DIDN'T NOTICE THE ISSUE BECAUSE THEY WEREN'T IN THE REGIME WHERE IT HAPPENS. THIS WILL CAUSE EXCESSIVE WEAR IN THE TRANSMISSION COMPONENTS DUE TO THE SLIDING OF THE CONNECTING CHAIN ACROSS THE VARIABLE DIAMETER DRUMS IT RIDES ON, EVENTUALLY LEADING TO PREMATURE TRANSMISSION FAILURE WHICH CAN EASILY BE A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE FROM MULTIPLE CONSIDERATIONS. THE CASE NUMBER THAT AMERICAN HONDA GENERATED FOR THIS TRANSMISSION "HUNTING" ISSUE WAS 09398275 REPORTED TO HONDA ON 3/5/19 (I USED THAT DATE BELOW BECAUSE THE CONDITION HAS BEEN CONSTANT WITH NO SPECIFIC FAILURE POINT)
TPMS LIGHT COMES ON FOR A FEW SECONDS AFTER THE CAR TURNS ON. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME THE TIRES OR ROTATED OR REPLACED. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES BUT ALL THEY DO IS RESET IT BUT THAT NEVER SOLVES THE PROBLEM. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING ON AND OFF FOR OVER A YEAR
AT AROUND 55K MILES I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN MY CAR BUCKED TWICE AND THEN SWITCHED INTO NEUTRAL, I PULLED OVER AND TURNED THE CAR OFF THEN ON AGAIN AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH STAYED ON BUT I COULD SWITCH GEARS, I CALLED HONDA THEY TOLD ME TO BRING IT IN AND THEY SAID IT WAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE PARKING BRAKE SENSOR AND PULLEY SYSTEM, THEY REPLACED IT AND SENT ME ON MY WAY. NOW 4 MONTHS LATER AT AROUND 65K MILES I'M DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AGAIN AND MY CAR JUST STARTS REVVING LIKE CRAZY AND SWITCHES INTO NEUTRAL. I PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY AGAIN, TURN THE CAR OFF AND TURN IT BACK ON AND ALL THE LIGHTS STAY LIT UP AGAIN. I CALL HONDA AND THEY SAY TO BRING IT IN AGAIN. THIS TIME THEY TELL ME METAL SHAVINGS GOT INTO THE TRANSMISSION (DUE TO THE SAME PARTS THAT WERE JUST REPLACED) BUT THAT I AM NOW NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND WILL HAVE TO PAY 40% OF THE COST TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION ON MY CAR THAT IS JUST OVER 2 YRS OLD. I LOOKED IT UP AND THIS IS SUCH A COMMON ISSUE THAT THEY HAVE EVEN CHANGED THE TRANSMISSIONS IN THE NEWER MODELS AND WHEN THEY REPLACE MY TRANSMISSION THEY WILL BE PUTTING THE NEWER VERSION IN. BUT THEY STILL DON'T WANT TO RECOGNIZE THAT IT IS AN ISSUE WITH THE CAR ITSELF AND WANT ME TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 HONDA HR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE DRIVER WAS SHIFTING THE GEAR SHIFTER TO PARK, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO CRASH INTO A POLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS NO INJURIES SUSTAINED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO BILLION AUTO - HONDA IN IOWA CITY (2641 MORMON TREK BLVD, IOWA CITY, IA 52240) WHERE THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT OF THE BODY REPAIR OF THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, WAS UNABLE TOP DIAGNOSE THE DEFECT FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED A CASE TO THE CONTACT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,116.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 HONDA HR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WATER LEAKED INTO THE TRUNK OF THE VEHICLE WHENEVER IT RAINED OR WHEN SNOW MELTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,000.
I FILLED OUT THIS FORM AND TRIED TO SUBMIT, BUT SAW AN ERROR ACCORDING TO YOUR SYSTEM. I HAVE A PAINT PROBLEM WITH MY 2018 HONDA HRV. I SEE ONLINE THAT THERE ARE PAINT PROBLEMS WITH THE 2018 HRV, FIT, & ACCORD. THE RECALL THAT I SAW WAS FOR A DIFFERENT COLOR THAN MY VEHICLE. WHAT I ALSO SAW WAS THAT THE MANUFACTURER PUT TOO THIN OF A CLEAR COAT ON THE VEHICLES. THE DEALERSHIP IS CLAIMING THAT MY PROBLEM IS NOT COVERED BECAUSE IT IS AN ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUE...TREE SAP OR BIRD DROPPINGS, WHICH IS THE OUT THAT HAS BEEN GIVEN TO THEM. GUESSING THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAS TOLD THEM TO USE THIS TO DISALLOW CLAIMS. THIS IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. I HAVE NEVER HAD A VEHICLE THAT HAS DONE THIS BECAUSE OF BIRD DROPPINGS OR TREE SAP. I HAVE ONLY HAD ONE VEHICLE THAT A MAKER VOLUNTEERED TO FIX... THAT WAS A TOYOTA VEHICLE. AL, OF THE REST OF THE MANUFACTURERS WANT TO MAKE YOU TAKE THEM TO COURT TO GET RESOLVE. I AM GIVING AN ESTIMATE OF THE TIME/MILEAGE OF THE NOTICE OF THE PROBLEM.
I PURCHASED THE CAR WITH 4,500 MILES IN IT IN MARCH 2019. I STARTED DRIVING IT IN MID APRIL ON HIGHWAY I 71, SINCE I HAVE TO COMMUTE TO MY WORK EVERYDAY FROM MILE 169 TO 119. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 14,000 AND HAD TO GET IT SERVICED AND THE TIRES WERE ROTATED TWO DAYS BEFORE THE INCIDENT. THE DAY OF THE INCIDENT WAS JULY 26TH 2019. I WAS DRIVING IN I 71 IN THE CENTRAL LANE WHEN THE SIGN OF LOW PRESSURE IN TIRES AND THEN I LOST CONTROL OF MY CAR, I TRIED TO USE THE BREAKS WHICH MADE IT EVEN MORE UNSTEADY. WITHOUT USING BREAKS, I MADE MY WAY TO THE RIGHT LANE AS BEST AS POSSIBLE AND WAITED UNTIL THE VEHICLE STOPPED BY ITSELF. WHEN THE SPEED WAS SLOW ENOUGH, I PULLED OVER TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER AND WAIT UNTIL IT COMPLETELY STOPPED. THIS WAS IN MILE 140.0 GOING SOUTH. AS SOON AS I PARKED TWO MORE CARS STOPPED IN ORDER TO FIGURE OUT IF I WAS OK. AND BOTH MENTIONED THAT MY TIRE FLEW AWAY AND HIT THEIR CARS, BUT DID NOT DAMAGE THEM. WHEN I STEPPED OUT OF MY VEHICLE I NOTICED THAT I WAS MISSING THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE (PASSENGER SIDE) TIRE COMPLETELY BUT THE RIM WAS INTACT SINCE PART OF THE RUBBER OF THE TIRE REMAINED. TIRE WAS MICHELIN RADIAL X TUBELESS M+S 215/55R17. I MADE A COMPLAINT TO MICHELIN WHICH ONLY WERE WILLING TO PAY 75% FOR A NEW TIRE. MY FINAL DECISION WAS TO CHANGE ALL THE TIRES AND SWITCH TO GOODYEAR BRAND SINCE MICHELIN COULD NOT WARRANTY THE QUALITY OF THEIR PRODUCTS AND WILL NOT ASSURE THAT THE OTHER 3 TIRES WERE NOT DEFECTIVE

I WAS DRIVING AT AROUND 40 MPH AND PREPARING TO STOP AT THE STOPLIGHT. HOWEVER, UPON GRADUALLY PRESSING ON MY BRAKES, MY CAR WOULD NOT STOP. INSTEAD, IT MADE LOUD NOISES WHILE STILL RUNNING. I HAD TO PRESS IT DOWN ALL THE WAY ONE OR TWO MORE TIMES FOR MY CAR TO ACTUALLY STOP. ONLY THEN WOULD IT STOP ABRUPTLY. I NOTICED MY MAKE WAS BEING RECALLED FOR BRAKE ISSUES, HOWEVER, MY SPECIFIC VIN [XXX] WAS NOT MARKED FOR RECALL. I WOULD LIKE FOR MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THIS AS THIS IS A VERY CONCERNING ISSUE AND I RELY ON MY CAR HEAVILY FOR WORK AND SERVICE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND HOPE TO HEAR FROM YOU SOON. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR

TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE IN WINTER WEATHER. BREAKS COMPLETELY FAIL TO STOP THE VEHICLE AT A SPEED OF 30 MILES IN WINTER. BREAKS COMPLETELY FAIL TO STOP THE VEHICLE CAUSING A SERIOUS CRASH. WHEN I APPLIED BREAKS TO STOP THE CAR AT A STOP SIGN THE VEHICLE FAILED TO COME TO STOP AS EXPECTED AND CAUSE A DANGEROUS ACCIDENT. UNABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE I ENDED UP CRASHING ON TO THE VEHICLE IN THE FRONT. THE VEHICLE SUFFERED SERIOUS DAMAGED MAKING IT A TOTAL LOSS.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 HONDA HR-V. WHILE REVERSING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOORBOARD WHEN IT WAS DEPRESSED. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP AND STRUCK THE HOUSE. THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO PIAZZA HONDA OF SPRINGFIELD (780 BALTIMORE PIKE, SPRINGFIELD, PA 19064) WHERE THEY KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR TWO WEEKS AND WERE NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE BODY DAMAGE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,800.

HONDA HR-V REAR CAMERA CANNOT SEE IN THE ABSOLUTE DARK CAUSING A SAFETY HAZARD BACKING UP. IN THE DAYTIME IT'S FINE BUT ON A DARK STREET ABSENT OF LIGHTS ALL YOU SEE IS A WHITE-OUT BLIZZARD ON SCREEN WHEN IN REVERSE.. SPOKE TO HONDA SERVICE AS WELL AS HONDA HQ AND THEY TELL ME THAT'S ALL THEY CAN DO. NO NIGHT VISION.
ABOUT A MONTH AND A HALF AFTER PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE I TOOK MY FAMILY (WIFE AND KIDS) ON A WEEKEND TRIP. IT WAS ABOUT AN 8-HOUR DRIVE THERE AND 8 HOURS BACK. ABOUT 3 HOURS INTO THE TRIP MY LEFT LEG STARTED ACHING WHERE IT MEETS THE SEAT CUSHION. I MADE MENTION OF IT TO MY WIFE AND DECIDED TO PUSH ON WITH OUR JOURNEY. ABOUT 20 MINUTES LATER THE PAIN HAD RADIATED INTO MY LEFT HIP, AND LOWER BACK. LUCKILY I HAD A PILLOW IN THE CAR THAT WAS BROUGHT FOR THE KIDS TO LEAN ON AS THEY USUALLY NAP ON THESE LONG TRIPS. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH THE DEALER AND HONDA CORPORATE. CORPORATE WANTS A REPAIR ESTIMATE TO MOVE FORWARD, AND THE DEALER WILL NOT PROVIDE ME WITH ONE BECAUSE AFTER A LENGTHY TEST WITH ANOTHER HR-V IT WAS CONCLUDED THAT THE ISSUE EXISTS IN ALL HR-V MODELS AND THEREFORE IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT/ISSUE. THIS PUTS ME BETWEEN A ROCK AND A HARD PLACE. I WISH I COULD DO WHAT OTHERS HAVE AND JUST TRADE THIS THING IN LEAVING HONDA AND LOOKING AT IT AS THE WORST DECISION I EVER MADE AND MOVE ON WITH MY LIFE, BUT I DO NOT HAVE THAT OPTION AT THE MOMENT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 HONDA HR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WERE SEVERAL FAILURES WITH THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WINDOW KEPT GOING UP AND DOWN, THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING (EPS) FAILED, THE EPS WARNING INDICATOR FLASHED, AND THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED WHILE REVERSING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF, RESTARTED, AND TAKEN TO GRAPPONE IMPORTS INC (519 ROUTE 3A, BOW, NH 03304, 800-528-8993), BUT THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE AND DIAGNOSE THE FAILURES. THERE WAS NO DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE PRESENT AT THE TIME. THE CONTACT WAS PROVIDED WITH A LOANER VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND REMAINED AT THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS RULED OUT AS A COMPLETE LOSS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 15. *TT UPDATED 10/15/18*JB
I HAD THE CAR FOR 9 MONTHS NOW, ONLY HAD 20000 MILES ON IT, WHENEVER I MAKE SHORT TRIPS LIKE 3 MILES, THEN TURN OFF THE ENGINE, REST FOR LIKE 6 MINS OR LESS, THEN TRY TO START THE CAR AGAIN; IT WILL NOT GO THROUGH.. I WENT TO AUTOZONE TO TEST THE BATTERY, AND THEY SAID THAT ITS WORKING FINE. THE BATTERY HAS POWER, BUT FOR SOME REASON IT CANT MAKE THE CAR START. ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD IS WORKING, EVEN HEADLIGHTS, AND ALL CONTROLS. BUT IT CANT MAKE THE CAR START, I KNOW THERE'S NO PROBLEM WITH THE ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY. IM HOPING THAT THERE'S NO PROBLEM WITH THE STARTER..
THE TWO FRONT WINDOWS AND REAR WINDOW HAVE FLOWER-LIKE PATTERNS WHEN YOU WEAR SUNGLASSES. I WAS REQUIRED TO WEAR SUNGLASSES BY MY EYE DOCTOR. THESE FLOWER-LIKE PATTERNS AFFECT MY VIEW TO BOTH SIDES WHILE I AM DRIVING OR MAKE THE TURNS. THE REAR VIEW IS AFFECTED BY THESE PATTERNS ALSO. THE WHOLE WINDOWS ARE LIKE THAT. I CAN ONLY PICTURE IT FROM MY SUNGLASSES. YOU HAVE TO IMAGE THE WHOLE WINDOWS WITH THESE PATTERNS.
I WAS EXPERIENCING AN ISSUE WITH A BRAND NEW LEASE I ACQUIRED 3 MONTHS AGO. THE SENORS ON THE DASHBOARD LIT UP AND THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO LOCK UP WHILE DRIVING. I PHONED HONDA AROUND 10 AM AND AFTER BEING TRANSFERRED SEVERAL TIMES WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO TO ACCOMMODATE ME UNTIL THE CAR WAS DIAGNOSED WHICH WAS UNDERSTANDABLE. 3 DAYS LATER I WAS TOLD RODENTS CHEWED THROUGH MY WIRES IN THE ENGINE HARNESS AND IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED BY MY 3-MONTH-OLD WARRANTY. UNFORTUNATELY FOR ME, I WAS UNAWARE THAT HONDA WRAPS ALL OF ITS WIRES WITH A SOY-BASED PRODUCT THAT ATTRACTS RODENTS BUT HONDA WILL NOT COVER THE EXPENSE NOR WILL THEY RE-WRAP THE WIRES WITH A REPELLANT THAT THEY SELL UNLESS YOU PURCHASE IT FIRST.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 HONDA HR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BOTTOM THREE INCHES OF THE WINDSHIELD LOOKED MAGNIFIED AND DISTORTED, WHICH WAS DISTRACTING WHILE DRIVING. GOT THE CAR ON OCTOBER 2017, DROVE IT OFF THE LOT BRAND NEW IS A 2018 CAR DRIVING TO MY HOUSE THE LIGHTS ON MY DASHBOARD LIGHTS UP BREAKS, MOTOR, OIL, AIR ON TIRES, ALL OF THEM LIGHT UP LIKE A CHRISTMAS TREE, I TOOK TO THE HONDA DEALER AND THE ASSISTANT MANAGER RESET THE CAR BECAUSE THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS CLOSED. A WEEK LATER THE LIGHTS CAME UP AGAIN. I CALL THEM AND THEY TOLD ME TO BRING IN THE CAR THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON SINCE THIS IS A NEW CAR WITH NO RECALLS. I GUESS THE RESET THE CAR AGAIN AND GAVE IT BACK TO ME. DECEMBER 2017 AGAIN THE LIGHTS CAME ON I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP NOW I'M WORRIED BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO DRIVE A CAR WHERE I DON'T KNOW IF MY BREAKS ARE WORKING OR ANY OTHER PART OF THE CAR SINCE I'M DRIVING THIS CAR EVERY DAY TO WORK. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE OIL PUMP THEY ORDER ONE AND CHANGED IT. HERE WE ARE ON MARCH 26, 2018, AND THE LIGHTS ARE ALL BACKLIGHTING MY DASHBOARD THERE MUST BE SOMETHING WRONG WITH THIS CAR. I AM SCARED TO DRIVE THIS CAR.
The blue line shows 146 total NHTSA complaints filed over 9 years, with the worst year being 2024 (37 complaints, including 1 crash report).
The amber reliability line is declining — recent years score around 16/100, lower than earlier in the vehicle's life. This pattern indicates issues are accumulating over time rather than being resolved, which is a concern for used buyers.
Notably, despite 146 complaints on file, no recall has been issued — either the defect pattern has not met NHTSA's threshold for a formal campaign, or a recall may be forthcoming.
Red dots on the amber line flag 9 years (2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026) where complaints included crash events — these are the highest-severity incidents in the dataset.
Estimates use EPA fuel economy data, AAA 2024 national averages for insurance and maintenance, and a standard depreciation curve. Actual costs vary by location, driving habits, and vehicle condition.
Estimated 5-year cost of ownership: $40,216 (~$670/mo). Repair risk buffer is standard due to vehicle risk profile.
Based on original MSRP of $21,720 with suv depreciation curve. Range reflects ±15% market variance. Actual value depends on condition, options, and local demand.
20% estimated recall probability — some indicators present but not alarming.
- ▸Accelerating complaint rate — increasing pressure on NHTSA to act
Maintenance intervals vary significantly by make, model, year, engine, and driving conditions. Always follow the manufacturer's official schedule — not generic industry estimates.
Tip: Request the seller's service records and compare against the manufacturer schedule. Missing intervals are a negotiation point.
Based on 2024 national avg ($2,011/yr full coverage). Individual rates vary by driver, location & insurer. Always compare 3+ quotes.
HONDA has been fined $93M+ by NHTSA. Most recently in 2016: Additional penalties related to Takata airbag recall management.
