Since purchasing my 2022 Honda HR-V in 2024, I have experienced ongoing unintended or “phantom” braking while driving at highway speeds with adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, and the Collision Mitigation Braking System activated. When a vehicle is traveling in an adjacent lane—most frequently on the right side—the dashboard displays an orange brake warning, and the vehicle abruptly brakes without driver input despite no obstruction in my lane. This issue occurs approximately four times per week, and the vehicle currently has about 75,000 miles. During each incident, I disengage adaptive cruise control using the steering wheel controls to regain manual control. Although no accidents or injuries have occurred, these sudden braking events have resulted in multiple near-miss situations and present a significant safety concern.

Subject: Safety Defect Report – Steering Wheel Lock-Up & Lack of Notification – 2022 Honda HR-V Description of Incident: I am reporting a severe, life-threatening safety defect regarding the steering system of my 2022 Honda HR-V. While driving, the steering wheel suddenly and unexpectedly locks up, making it nearly impossible to steer. This has occurred more than three times recently, with increasing frequency. Key Safety Concerns: •Sudden Loss of Control: The steering becomes rigid without warning, creating an immediate risk of a crash. This has occurred during each of my last three trips. •Lack of Manufacturer Notification: According to official NHTSA Recall 24V-744, the "sticky steering" gearbox recall includes certain 2022–2025 Honda models. However, I never received a recall notice for my vehicle. •Contradictory Information: My research confirms that the 2022 model year and the HR-V model are specifically named in the broad recall for this steering gearbox defect. Despite my vehicle exhibiting the exact "sticky" and locking behavior identified in the recall, I have not been contacted by Honda for the free repair. •Manufacturer Acknowledgment: Both my local dealer and Honda corporate have confirmed that 2023 and newer models are being recalled, yet my 2022 model—built within the same production window and using the same faulty supplier parts—is not being prioritized for service. Request for Action: I request that NHTSA investigate why 2022 HR-V models experiencing these dangerous failures were not included in the primary notification mailing. I urge NHTSA to ensure that all 2022 HR-V owners experiencing this steering gearbox failure are granted access to the free repair (gearbox or worm gear spring replacement) Google Search Yes, a significant "sticky steering" issue affecting nearly 1.7 million Honda and Acura vehicles from the 2022–2025 model years is being addressed through a massive NHTSA recall (Campaign 24V-744), initiated in October 2024. I bought the car at the dealership with 50,000 miles on it and purchased an extended warranty as well. I drive for a living with this car and after a few months noticed it would rev high before shifting. When I brought it back to the dealership they did something to it but did not say what. It smelled like they put catalyst cleaner in it though not confirmed. I then had the issue again and the car smelled like burning rubber. I took it to a honda dealership and had the transmission fluid as well as the rear differential fluid changed but they did could not find any issues. Now that my warranty has run out and I have over 150,000 I had a tire shop where I was buying new tires inform me that the rear differential carrier bracket bushings were in need of being replaced as soon as possible. I could not afford for them to do it for me. I have researched online and have found this very well could have been the problem with the shifting and rubber smell the entire time. My car was under warranty and now it is not. Why is Honda not replacing this to prevent even bigger failure and repair issues. My son owns a 2019 Honda C RV as well and he says his car is experiencing the exact same issue.

ODI #11726506POWER TRAIN

I am reporting a transmission failure in my 2022 Honda HR-V at approximately 129,000 miles. While driving on the interstate highway at normal speed, the vehicle suddenly began revving excessively without accelerating. The engine RPM increased, but the vehicle failed to maintain proper speed or respond as expected. This occurred without any prior warning signs or indicators. Shortly after, the vehicle continued to have issues where it would shift into gear but not properly move or engage. All dashboard warning lights became illuminated following the incident. I took the vehicle to a dealership for diagnosis, and they confirmed that the transmission is failing. They reported finding metal shavings inside the transmission, indicating internal mechanical damage and premature wear. This sudden loss of power and inability to accelerate properly while driving at highway speeds created a serious safety hazard. The vehicle could have been rear-ended or caused an accident due to the unexpected loss of performance. A major component like the transmission should not fail in this manner, especially without warning, as it poses a significant safety risk to the driver and others on the road.

My transmission went before the car hit 100 thousand miles. It put me at risk because I was in the middle of the road and my car wouldn’t move. The problem was confirmed by the Honda dealer. There were zero warning signs before this happened.

I've been the only owner to this 22' Honda HRV and I have serviced it at the dealer 90% of the time. All oil changes, coolant flush, transmission services etc. done on time. I recently got it diagnosed at my local Honda dealer because it was starting to make a noise when you stepped on the gas. The noise started at about 95k miles and becomes louder as you increase the speed of the vehicle. The dealer diagnosed it with an internal transmission failure. There were no warning lights or messages ever. No prior check engine lights on or mechanical issues prior to this. I am very disappointed with this vehicle. Hopefully this issue is looked into. I do not hope for this to happen to anyone with this vehicle.

I am writing to formally report a recurring safety defect regarding the infotainment system in my 2022 Honda HR-V. For over a month, the system has remained completely non-functional (blank screen). Prior to this total failure, the unit exhibited intermittent power cycles since the date of purchase around February 2024. Upon inspection by an authorized Honda dealership, technicians confirmed that this is a known computer hardware issue frequent in this model year. Despite their admission that they "see this a lot," there is currently no active recall to address the defect. Safety Implications This failure is not merely a convenience issue; it creates several significant safety hazards: • Loss of Driver Assistance: The rearview camera and LaneWatch camera are completely disabled, significantly increasing the risk of collisions during reversing or lane changes. • Distracted Driving: I am unable to use integrated navigation, forcing reliance on handheld devices for directions. • Emergency Communication: The internal USB ports have failed along with the unit, preventing phone charging. This leaves me at risk of having no communication during a roadside emergency or breakdown. Evidence I have documented video evidence of a certified Honda technician stating that this is a pervasive and "very common" issue with this vehicle's architecture. I urge the association to investigate these systemic failures. A safety-critical component like the rearview camera should not be subject to such widespread hardware instability without a manufacturer-led remedy.

While driving, multiple warning lights suddenly illuminated and the vehicle immediately lost power and became undriveable with no prior warning signs. I had to pull over for safety and the vehicle was towed to the dealership. The dealership diagnosed CVT belt deterioration and advised the transmission requires replacement. This sudden loss of drivability created a safety hazard because the vehicle became disabled while on the road.

On Sunday, 02/08/2026, I parked briefly to drop something off. When I tried to restart the car, it was clicking but would not start. An engine light came on, and a flashing message appeared saying “Park.” I initially thought it was a battery issue, but the warning light remained on. The next morning, the car started, but the engine was locked and the vehicle would not move forward or backward. I called the Honda dealer, and the technician advised me to tow and bring the vehicle in as soon as possible. I restarted the vehicle, and the message on the screen cleared and the vehicle was engaged. I then dropped the vehicle off at the dealership. After inspection, they told me the front passenger seat weight sensor needed to be replaced, which is very expensive ($1,300) When I researched the, Honda has already recalled their vehicles for this same issue, and I am not sure I need to pay all this money for something that is caused by an identified defect of the vehicle system. My car was impacted by the exact issue impacting Honda HRV's manufactured in 2022, but my VIN does not show that I am eligible. This is a mistake and I would ask NHTSA to investigate other 2022 HRVs which may be impacted by this recall (information posted below). Summary American Honda Motor Co., Inc. (Honda) is recalling certain 2019-2022 model year HR-V vehicles. The power circuit in the display audio unit was improperly designed. When the engine is started with an ignition key, the cranking can cause the battery's state of charge to drop, which may prevent the display audio from booting up, resulting in the failure to display the rearview camera image. Additionally, vehicles previously repaired with the initial software update received a version that insufficiently corrected the display audio unit boot up procedure, resulting in the failure to display the rearview camera image. Safety Risk If the display audio unit does not boot up, the rearview camera image will not display, which may affect the driver's view and increase the risk of a crash or injury. Remedy Registered owners of all affected vehicles (including previously repaired vehicles) will be contacted by mail and asked to take their vehicle to an authorized Honda dealer. The dealer will reprogram the display audio unit with updated software containing the proper boot up procedure. Owners who have paid to have these repairs completed at their own expense may be eligible for reimbursement, in accord with the recall reimbursement plan on file with NHTSA. For additional questions, owners may contact American Honda's Customer Support & Campaign Center at [XXX] . INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Subject: Safety Complaint – 2022 Honda HR‑V – Intermittent Unintended Acceleration While Braking I am submitting this complaint regarding a serious safety defect in my 2022 Honda HR‑V. On multiple occasions, the vehicle has unexpectedly accelerated while I was pressing the brake pedal. This behavior is intermittent, unpredictable, and dangerous. Description of the Issue: While slowing down or coming to a stop, the vehicle will occasionally surge forward despite my foot being firmly on the brake. The engine revs and the vehicle attempts to move forward against braking force. This is not driver error. It occurs without any warning lights, alerts, or diagnostic messages. Operating Conditions When the Problem Occurs: - Low‑speed braking (parking lots, stop signs, traffic - Foot fully on the brake pedal - No cruise control active - No pedals obstructed - Normal road and weather conditions Safety Concerns: This defect creates a clear risk of: - Rear‑end collisions - Pedestrian injury - Property damage Loss of vehicle control The behavior is consistent with an electronic brake/throttle control malfunction, including possible issues with the brake pedal position sensor, accelerator pedal sensor, brake booster pressure sensor, or driver‑assist modules (ABS, ESC, CMBS). Other HR‑V owners have reported similar incidents. Dealer Response: The issue is intermittent, and the dealership has been unable to reproduce it. No repairs have been performed. No diagnostic codes were stored. Requested Action: I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this issue as a potential unintended acceleration defect affecting the 2022 Honda HR‑V. This problem poses a significant safety hazard to me and to the public. Thank you for your attention to this matter. When I turned my car on, the airbag system (SRS) Problem light was on. I was worried if it was an airbag problem, or sensor problem, so I brought the vehicle in for inspection at two locations. The first location was an independent service center, in which I was told it was a sensor problem. They weren't available to repair or needed an appointment to thoroughly check the problem. Therefore, I made an appointment for the next day at a Honda dealership. I thought that my vehicle may have been a part of the safety recall from the service bulletin 24-036. Upon inspection and a partial diagnosis (they didn't took apart my vehicle near the wheel or touch screen/audio for the sensor underneath), I was told I had a sensor problem under the front passenger seat with the code error U3000-49. However, I was told that my vehicle was not covered under the safety recall. I'm afraid of whether my airbags will be working properly if the sensor isn't working. There was no warning lights, symptoms of problems, or messages prior to the sensor light turning on.

A catastrophic failure occurred in the continuously variable transmission (CVT) of a 2022 model year vehicle at approximately 81,000 miles. While driving on the highway, the vehicle suddenly lost motive power; the engine revved rapidly without transferring any power to the wheels. The failure was diagnosed by an authorized dealership service center (documented on Repair Order #349133). The diagnosis confirmed that the transmission failed due to an internal component breakdown, stating: "FOUND SEVERAL METAL DEBRIS FOUND WHEN DRAINING AND STRAINING FLUID." The manufacturer (American Honda) has since confirmed in writing that the root cause was a manufacturing defect, effectively acknowledging that the failure was not due to wear, tear, or maintenance neglect. The problem has been reproduced and confirmed by the dealer. The component is available for inspection. This premature, total failure of a major powertrain component on a relatively new vehicle poses a safety risk due to the sudden loss of power while operating at highway speeds.

I was driving to work when suddenly my car lost motor function and just stopped, despite me pushing the gas pedal. This has happened to me at least 4 times now since owning the car for less than two years. I have almost been rear-ended each time. This time, however, my car did not want to start back up again. It flashed the battery and oil light on my dash and proceeded to tell me to hit the brake and push button to start (even though it was running), so I turned the vehicle off and attempted to start it again like I have in the past when encountering this issue. When I went to re-start the car, it sputtered and wouldn't start until I waited and tried again. I am very concerned, as I have a dog that I have in the backseat and if I get rear-ended, I will sue if there are injuries. I want a call about this immediately, as it is often pushed aside and I am fed up.

I was fortunate that there were no cars in the immediate area, otherwise I would have been hit. The car would not move in any gear. I took the car to the Honda dealership and they confirmed the transmission was shot. It will need to be replaced. The vehicle has 56,000. On [XXX] while driving on [XXX] , the driver’s airbag in my 2022 Honda HR-V suddenly deployed without any impact or collision. This created a major safety hazard, obstructing vision and forcing the driver to pull over immediately. The seat belt tensioner also engaged, restricting movement. There were no warning lights, no forward collision warnings, and no external factors that could have caused deployment. A diagnostic inspection at Larry Hopkins Honda (Sunnyvale, CA) confirmed that the vehicle’s Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) recorded NO impact prior to deployment. This exact issue aligns with Honda’s Safety Recall 24-036 (Seat Weight Sensor Defect) for the 2020-2022 HR-V, yet my vehicle's VIN is not included in the recall. Despite multiple attempts to escalate with Honda Corporate and the dealership, Honda has refused to acknowledge this as a defect or cover the repair. This is a critical safety failure that could have caused a serious accident or injury. I request NHTSA to investigate this issue, as other 2022 HR-Vs may also be at risk for random airbag deployment. After filling up the gas tank, the next morning when started the electric parking brake and check engine warning lights appeared with flashing red parking light on. Everything seemed to be working fine. The parking brake worked, and engine was fine. After internet research I narrowed it down to either a battery (3-years old), or a bad tank of gas, I checked the gas cap, ok. I hooked up my OBE engine monitor and it coded P2DE1, with its 5 potential issues. The internet has many complaints and issues about this dating back to 2016. People have replaced fuel injectors, O2 sensors, etc., costing a lot of money on unnecessary repairs. I replaced the battery, and all the dashboard lights went out. The OEM battery lasts about 3-years. Apparently, if the voltage drops below what is needed numerous warning lights come on. It is unsafe. Mandatory software upgrade for pcm U0155, or other safety recall to rectify?

On Thursday last week, I went out to my car that I have parked in the garage the day before I had no issues with the vehicle drove it all day, but on Thursday, I left home to go out to make some errands hopped in my car and I tried to start it. First car wouldn’t turn on, so I thought maybe I should turn off headlights and interior lights. Then I waited a few minutes and thought maybe the cold temperatures was messing with the car. So I just walked away from the car and I got a battery slow drip thinking that the battery might be dead but battery said it had a full charge at 100% charge. So I tried my battery tester battery said battery was about 100% fully charged. So I waited until my friends got home so they could witness that I wasn’t crazy. The only thing the car did after trying to start again was make a clicking sound for about three minutes then the dash lit up like a Christmas tree. Every light came on every hazard that was built into the car was on saying that it needs a dealer to be checked or fixed so I called my local Honda dealership and they said that I should call roadside assistance because the car wouldn’t start. So before I could call roadside, I tried to jumpstart the car and nothing happened. So I went back in the house and about a two minutes later, the car crank and started itself, and it stayed on, but when I tried to turn it off, it told me that it could not be turned off due to some reason, I can’t remember from what it said on Thursday. So Thursday afternoon, I drove it up to our local Honda dealership and on the way up there the car shut off twice on the highway in motion which scared the mess out of me because I thought I was going to have an accident then about a mile from the dealership, the dashboard went black and so did the touchscreen, but then it came back on. But long story short local dealership said there’s nothing they can do to duplicate the issue in the car would not be fixed so I’m concerned that something else might happen

All sensor warning lights came on the dashboard. Car would not move. Code showed no gas (tank was full). code for emergency brake (not engaged). Service department. of Honda dealer finally diagnosed fuel sensor getting stuck. Dealer said they would order part and replace it. They never ordered part and will not return our phone calls. They said they would talk to Honda to see if this model Honda was having this problem. No feedback. This situation has happened several times over the last 10 months. Usually happens when parked with engine running or moving very slowly. We turn off car for a few minutes. We are then able to move vehicle. Sensor lights eventually go off. We are afraid to go far from home because we never know when this will happen and if we can get it moving again. This car has about 31000 miles on it.

When driving on the highway at around 76 mph, the vehicle suddenly presents power loss and won't accelerate nor rev even if I step into the pedal all the way (No light in the dashboard). Going in the high speed lane, I had to stop in the shoulder lane and turn off the vehicle. After turning it on again, a couple of minutes later the problem was back. This would be the third time I have had the problem. Took it to Honda for a checkup and told them that no light came on in the dashboard, and also told them that the problem has been present when going over 70mph, and what they did is try to replicate the problem at 70mph.

ODI #11594606POWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

Vehicle loses throttle response multiple times a day while traveling on the highway or roads where slowing/stopping isn't frequent. Vehicle will be traveling 50-80mph and will not accelerate even with the pedal on the floor. Vehicle will either maintain speed or start slowing down, occasionally it will rapidly slow down. I will have to fully release the accelerator pedal and lightly slam it all the way to the floor and then the vehicle will decide to respond. A few times while driving in moderate traffic (30-45mph) the throttle will lose all response and will not respond to any pedal input at all for about 5-8 seconds and then will all of a sudden start functioning as intended again. I assume the third issue the vehicle is having with acceleration is related to the first two as well, occasionally it will have very slow acceleration when trying to get up to speed to merge onto the highway. It will take about ¼-⅓ of a mile or about 45-60 seconds to reach 60-70mph. When this occurs I will have the pedal all the way to the floor from the beginning of a fairly long on ramp and by the end of the ramp I will be going no faster than 50mph maybe 55mph. I assume all of this is caused by the CVT transmission or possibly the ECU. I have contacted Honda regarding these issues and they stated that they are aware of these issues and that they are fairly common, and that they also believe that it is a transmission or computer issue, but there is nothing they can nor will do about it because Honda corperate requires them to diagnose every issue through the vehicles computer. So if the vehicle doesn't have a warning light or any DTCs (diagnostic trouble codes) set in the computer they can't (or wont) do anything about it eventhough there is clearly an issue that is entirely able to be diagnosed without a DTC. 90% of the time a bad CVT will never set a DTC. I don't speak on all this because I THINK I know, I speak on this because KNOW I know as I am an ASE certified master technician

Use this vehicle as a daily commuter for work/school/other personal trips in good faith it would be a solid, reliable car. Had it since February 2022, brand new right off the lot no issues. One morning driving to work, the tire pressure, parking brake, and check engine light indicators all come on while I'm on the highway. I exit to an off ramp and pull into a parking lot to go through the different gears and everything seems okay, so I proceed to return to my commute. Start coming to a stop light at an intersection and the vehicle stalls completely as I decelerate. I go to start the vehicle again as I'm in an active lane of traffic and it won't start. Try starting it again and it starts but the parking brake is fully engaged (not by me setting it but the vehicle self-engaged it) and I can't move the vehicle as it won't dis-engage the parking brake when I hit the gas. I had to get it towed to the dealership and mechanics told me later it was a fuel canister failure, and it isn't uncommon for the sensor in that element to fail which certainly didn't inspire great comfort. I drive it 5 miles after they assured me it was taken care of and all the same indicators come back on. Return to the dealership and they re-assessed the issue is farther down near the tank. Been driving it since the second repair attempt and so far no issues. Very disappointed and hesitant about this model's safety and reliability especially hearing about the rear-differential investigation and others having it decelerate at highway speeds suddenly. As this is my first car, I had hoped this was the right choice and would be solid for years to come, but now I question whether I trust the HRV model and Honda in general.

Engine failed to start when turning the key in the ignition. Occurred three separate occasions within 30 days @ 18,000. Engine light and electronic steering system lights remained on. Vehicle started after waiting one hour. On the third occasion, the car was towed to the dealer, and a service advisor experienced the same issue. However, 30 minutes later, a mechanic was able to start the engine at every attempt. There were no warning lights, other than the lights remaining on the dashboard when attempting to turn the key. (I have video of the experience - please see photo). I am submitting this notice because on all 3 occasions, Honda dealer performed diagnostics, but could not find an issue that caused the failed start. I was reluctant to keep a car with a problem that statistically would reoccur in the future, or perhaps might experience an even worse electrical problem. The dealer "bought" the car back, and sold me a 2024 - same model. There were some additional costs and of course the interest rate was higher. I agreed to all of the conditions for the new purchase, and I believe the dealer did right by me with the purchase of the newer model. HOWEVER, 3 days after I purchased the 2024 HR-V, the dealer put the 2022 HR-V on the lot and is attempting to resell it. I find this wrong and possibly a risk to the new owner. I have every reason to believe the issue for the faulty electrical system was not discovered over the short time (3 days) from when I turned in the car, and when I saw it on the lot for resell. Other than the electrical issue, the vehicle was very reliable and I took very good care with it. If not for anticipating the problem would reoccur when I was driving or wouldn't start in an emergency, or perhaps reoccur after the warranty expired, I traded it in to the dealer and purchased a new 2024 model. Thank you.

After a while, while driving on flat land, my RPM's shot up to almost 6000 and the speed got up to 88mph in less than 10 seconds. I pulled over, shut the car off so I could calm down before driving again. Later that day, I was driving around 77mph on the interstate again but this time I was NOT using cruise control and my car dropped to around 50mph almost immediately, even with my foot on the pedal all the way to the floor but the car would not accelerate. During this time the car jerked forward really hard (I was told the CVT is why) but also multiple dash lights came on. I had picture and video proof of this, took it to the dealership but they could not find any reason. Since this day, my car has lost speed multiple times while driving but the steering wheel has started locking up the last few times making it impossible to even steer and get off of the roadway while the car is dropping speed. The vehicle started to encounter mechanical issues 10 days after delivery. The vehicle's radio, Apple Carplay, Bluetooth, and anti-theft system/radio unit started to encounter electrical issues, stating it had lost power. The issues were not as common at first but, grew to be persistent as the vehicle continued to be driven. The vehicle was in for service approximately 1-2 weeks ago from today's date and all the issues have started again. The issues that persist are the vehicle not being able to start multiple times in a week (does not depend if the vehicle is hot or cold, and/or if the vehicle has been recently driven or sitting), Apple Carplay consistently disconnecting, the anti-theft system/radio unit continually losing power and needing to acquire GPS satellites. The dealership did conclude that the battery was at fault for the no-start issues and replaced the battery, unfortunately, that did not solve the issues and they continue to arise on a consistent basis thereafter. The other issues could not be replicated and were recommended that the phones connected via Apple Carplay be updated & repaired, the phones that were connected were already up to date in the IOS version, and the Hondailink version, and were using Apple oem cables. Just bought This 2022 HRV AWD EX back in October 2021. I already have one prior issue with the emissions problems and the brake system. When I took it to Honda they said they would take care of it and they did. Something about calibration and getting a part for my car. This morning I tried driving it when out of nowhere I get all the parking lights emissions problems and parking lights flashing and the car won’t even go faster than 10 mph while white smoke coming out of the exhaust and starts pulling and yanking it’s pretty scary when you driving and it happens out of nowhere. Now the I can’t even drive my brand new car that I bought. it shows me on the dash for me to pull over and park. Take to dealer sign on dash.

Our 2022 HR-V continues to have a problem with the windows fogging up after driving a few miles. This happens when it is very cold outside. (Below freezing) I have also had two incidents when the inside of the front windshield has had a thin layer of ice and I have had to scrap the inside before being able to drive. The front brakes seem to grab when first applied when wet or iced.

The SUV decelerated rapidly while driving uphill on the grapevine in Los Angeles. I was driving 70 mph and then the SUV's speed just started to drop and I was pressing down hard on the accelerator. This may haven been an issue with the engine or the transmission. My daughter and I could have been seriously injured or killed since we were surrounded by cars going 70+ mph and no one could have expected our SUV to decelerate so quickly on this stretch of highway. We really could not figure out what to do. The dealer said they could not replicate it, but I have had this happen more than once. I told them how serious this was, but they said they could not help me. I have read online of others complaining about the same issue for both the CRV and the HRV (www.thedrive.com) and I read that this issue has been reported to the NHTSA before so I wonder how the Honda dealer has never heard about this before. The SUV has not been inspected by anyone but the dealer. The SUV also intermittently shakes on the highway as it picks up speed. This also appears to be an issue others have experienced. No warning lamps, messages or other symptoms appeared for either issue. Both issues present safety concerns.

Car parked. When I went to drive, engine light, ((P))! Light and park light remained on. The car would NOT go into reverse. Turned car off. Turned car back on. After 15-20 mins car went into reverse. While driving on I-95 all 3 lights turned on with the Park light blinking. I pulled onto shoulder. Googled causes. I checked gas cap which was on tightly. This is extremely concerning as it states there is a problem with the electrical braking system. I purchased the car on December 11th 2021 and it’s already having issues. I was driving with an infant in the car. Someone needs to investigate why this happened and how to fix it before people end up in an accident.

Chart Analysis

The blue line shows 74 total NHTSA complaints filed over 6 years, with the worst year being 2023 (18 complaints, including 4 crash reports).

The amber reliability line is declining — recent years score around 18/100, lower than earlier in the vehicle's life. This pattern indicates issues are accumulating over time rather than being resolved, which is a concern for used buyers.

The recalls (red dashed lines) followed the first complaints by 2 years — a typical response window; neither unusually fast nor a pattern of denial.

Red dots on the amber line flag 3 years (2022, 2023, 2024) where complaints included crash events — these are the highest-severity incidents in the dataset.
