Lemon law eligibility depends on state law, number of repair attempts, and days out of service. Consult an attorney for actual eligibility.
The same components appear in both official NHTSA recalls and owner-filed complaints — a double-confirmed failure signal.
3.6L Pentastar V6: oil consumption and rocker arm failures on early builds — Chrysler issued customer satisfaction program
Worn chain tensioners cause timing chain skip or snap — common on GM 5.3L/6.2L, Ford EcoBoost, VW/Audi EA888, BMW N47/N63. Listen for cold-start rattles.
Water pump failure causes rapid overheating. If the engine overheats even once, head gasket damage is likely — turning a $400 part into a $3,000+ repair.
Degraded transmission fluid destroys clutch packs and solenoids. CVT transmissions are especially sensitive — neglected fluid can result in a $4,000–$8,000 replacement.
Degraded coolant loses corrosion inhibitors and attacks aluminum engine components. Can cause head gasket failure and water pump corrosion.
Worn spark plugs cause misfires that can foul and crack catalytic converters. A $150 tune-up can prevent a $1,200 catalytic converter replacement.
Dirty or failing injectors cause rough idle, reduced fuel economy, and increased emissions. Cleaning costs $100–$200; replacement $800–$1,600.

specifics unknown check engine light came on cpl seconds before it started overheating / leaking coolant and or transmission fluid and overheating. and I'm not sure what. started last year but I don't drive very often so the issue just started last year
The driver and passenger sliding door power lock actuator is not operating for my wife's 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan with about 44,000 miles. There is a Warranty Bulletin, number D-25-03, dated January 30, 2025 that extended the warranty to coverage to 10 years/ 100,000 miles. My wife's car should have been included in the cars with the problem and it is not included in the cars affected by the problem. Please include my wife's Dodge Grand Caravan in the recall for the extended warranty.
I am filing this complaint regarding the service department at Vaden Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram. My complaint concerns a failure to properly diagnose a mechanical issue with my vehicle, misleading statements about the condition of the vehicle after repairs, and poor communication during the repair process. The vehicle is a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. Before bringing it to the dealership, the vehicle was jerking when slowing or coming to a stop. On February 19, 2026, a diagnostic scan showed code P0420 – Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1). At that time the vehicle was still drivable. On March 2, 2026, I brought the vehicle to the dealership and reported the jerking issue. I also asked that the throttle body and transmission be inspected. The dealership stated that the technician could not determine the cause of the problem but recommended maintenance repairs including tires, brakes, and rotor service. Based on their professional recommendation, I approved the repairs. On March 6, 2026, I picked up the vehicle and paid 1,416.21. I was told the vehicle passed inspection and a safety test drive. However, within approximately thirty minutes of leaving the dealership, the vehicle began jerking violently and shut off while I was driving. The vehicle had to be returned to the dealership. After the vehicle was returned, I was informed that the catalytic converter needed to be replaced. This was concerning because I had asked the dealership to check that component during the initial inspection. I was originally quoted about 2,800, and after discussions with management including Jim Fife, I paid 2,165 on March 14, 2026 for the catalytic converter repair. Despite paying a total of 3,581.21, the vehicle continued to show drivability problems. A new diagnostic scan showed codes P0420 and P219B (air-fuel ratio imbalance), suggesting the underlying issue may not have been properly diagnosed before replacing the catalytic converter. I attempted to resolve the issue.
We purchased this car in 2019 at 55k miles. We had a transmission failed at 92k miles. My wife was left at a light and had to baby it home. It was replaced by a Mopar remanufactued unit that was supposed to be reinforced and have fixed parts from design flaws. A local dealership fixed it after several weeks and getting a loaned car. Next failure was 2 years later in 2023 at around 130k miles. This part was under Mopar 3 year 100k mile warranty and left my wife stranded on the road. The transmission was replaced by the local dealership this time cars were scarce and they didn't have a loaner. We had to get a rental and we're reimbursed. At 177k?miles it's happening again. I can't do this anymore. This transmission is defective and should be recalled. Timeline 92,000 miles – original transmission failed 130,000 miles – Mopar reman failed 180,000 miles – slipping, hard shifts, high RPM
The driver's side sliding door lock has seized up and will not let you open the door at all. It won't open with a remote or manually it is solid as a rock. The passenger side sliding door motor makes a horrible sound every time it locks or unlock. It did get stuck at one point , but then it unlocked. This is very dangerous when you have small children in car seats that you cannot get to. And because the door locks on the dodge grand caravans keep malfunctioning , you have to crawl through the back end of the vehicle , put the seats down to get to children in car seats to get them out of the vehicle. The cost to fix this is outrageous. Dodge grand caravan sliding door locks have thousands and thousands of complaints about malfunctioning, and not working. And needing to be replaced. Why are you not recalling this? This is a safety issue. Also , if this would have locked up when I was sitting in the back seat , I wouldn't have been able to get out because I am disabled. I would've been stuck in this dodge grand caravan. This is a safety issue that dodge needs to address immediately. When the door lock smell function and you can't get disabled adults out of a vehicle or small children out of a car seat that is a serious issue.
I believe my door actuator on the driver’s side has failed as of 2/23/26 The door will not unlock. I cannot open or close it. The court case that was open has closed as of September 2025 and the recall is no longer active.
Seized sliding door latch. In an emergency we cannot exit threw the door. There was a recall on the door lock latch. Dealer will not repair do to the mileage.
I am writing to formally request that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration review and consider an investigation into a potential safety-related defect affecting 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan vehicles. My vehicle recently experienced a failure of the engine oil filter housing, which cracked and leaked oil and required an expensive repair. According to the repair facility, Pro Auto Service, this failure is not isolated. I was advised that the shop has repaired a significant number of identical failures over the past year, to the extent that replacement parts have at times been difficult to obtain. The repair facility also indicated that many similar failures have occurred in recent weeks, coinciding with extreme cold weather conditions. The oil filter housing is a critical engine component responsible for maintaining proper oil circulation and pressure. Failure of this component can lead to oil loss, reduced lubrication, engine damage, or potential engine shutdown if not immediately addressed. Because this defect directly impacts engine operation, it presents a powertrain-related safety concern. Based on the frequency of reported failures, the consistency across the same model year, and the apparent correlation with cold weather conditions, this issue appears to be the result of a design or material defect rather than normal wear and tear. I respectfully request that NHTSA review this matter for possible investigation and recall consideration to protect vehicle owners from unexpected engine failure and costly repairs. Thank you for your attention to this concern and for your continued commitment to vehicle safety.
Both of my sliding passenger doors have become stuck closed due to failed lock actuators. (The doors do not open when placed in the "manual" option either. They cannot be opened in any way.) This happened a few years ago, but my vehicle was past the original warranty period for any repairs, and there were no recalls existing. Last spring (2025), I received notification of an extended warranty period to have this problem fixed. The issue is that my vehicle was not eligible because by that point it was over 100,000 miles. Doors not opening renders the vehicle unusable or unsafe for any passengers besides the front seat passenger. I bought my Dodge Grand Caravan to be a family car, and I can only have one child ride safely with me. In the event of a wreck, passengers would be trapped in the vehicle. I have submitted this concern before, and I have written to the warranty company associated with Dodge. Dodge recognizes this is a common safety problem with the vehicles, as evidenced by the extended warranty for this issue. However, this is not a warranty concern; it is a recall concern due to safety.
On December 29, 2025, my wife put her van in park, turned off the vehicle and proceeded to exit the vehicle. The drive is on an incline after exiting the vehicle it began to roll backwards. She was caught in the door and attempted to press the brake to no effect. She was drug about fifty feet before separating from the vehicle. The vehicle then rolled down a steep embankment and continued another hundred feet or so where it struck a building. Upon entering the vehicle, the gear shift was in the park position and the engine was turned off. The vehicle sustained over $5,000 in body damage from the impact to the building. And an unknown amount of damage to the steering and exhaust system from rolling down the embankment.
My engine has begun the "Pentastar tick", which is surprisingly well-known, but not recalled. This is a serious safety issue because it can cause engine failure, which would cause an accident. Dodge has known about this problem for years, but refuses to fix it. I cannot afford to replace the engine and my van is sitting at the dealership, as of today. Please make them fix this! Why is there not a recall on these engines!?! Thankfully, there was no accident and I had the vehicle towed to the dealership, only to be told they are aware of it and I'm looking at $3,000-5,000 to "fix" it. However, the replacement parts would be the same as the original parts, so it's just going to keep happening. They are willfully and knowingly endangering families by not fixing this!
Check engine light codes match possible recall for vehicle now I'm having the same issues
The Flex Plate comes loose and rattles really loud. Needs to get repaired so that it doesnt break loose and starter falls out. This is a well known issue with this type of vehicle and costs a couple thousand to get fixed. Dodge dealership said this happens a lot with their vans.
The lock actuators on my 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan sliding passenger doors are both frozen, so the doors are not able to be opened at all. The doors for the backseat are unusable, and passengers must climb in through the back hatch door of the van. My car began smoking from the engine (visible from the hood), and I had to pull my vehicle over. My children were unable to exit the vehicle in a swift manner, because they had to leave through the rear hatch of the vehicle instead of opening the doors next to their seats. This is extremely unsafe and seems to be a widespread safety risk with this vehicle. The company issued an extended warranty in 2025, but because my vehicle was purchased in 2018 and I commuted to my job, my vehicle is over the 100,000 mile qualifier now. It wasn't at 100,000 miles when the doors seized up. Dodge/Chrysler should recall this lock actuator part, because passenger safely should come first. An extended warranty that excludes drivers now over 100,000 miles is not acceptable. This defect could have caused my children to become trapped in a burning vehicle.
I purchased the vehicle on 9/15/2025 at approximately 103,900 miles. Around 10/6/25 at approximately 103,982 miles the driver side sliding door actuator has failed causing the door to get stuck in the lock position and creating a safety hazard. I reached out to Dodge today and spoke with a representative by the name of Lynn and they've declined to repair.
The engine began stalling and reving while driving. It is at the shop with an estimate of 2500.00 to 4000.00 to repair due to faulty cylinder #2. Researching this, we are not the first to have issues. As stated by my repair place, it’s a ticking time bomb waiting for it to cause a serious major incident and possible injuries. Vehicle is less than 8 years old and less than 100,000 miles
I first had this happen months ago and now I found another place to post about it. The locking and unlocking motor on the passenger sliding door is making a horrible noise and buzzing sound. This happens every time you lock or unlock it. It also happens when it locks automatically when you drive. It is horribly loud that it wakes up the baby and toddler every time. My mechanic has looked at it and knew exactly what was wrong right away. The motor is just and needs replaced. He said it's very common for the dodge motor in the sliding doors to need replacing. He's shocked it hasn't been recalled yet. He's also had many people have kids locked in the vans due to the motor basically burning out. He said it definitely needs replaced and should've been recalled by now. Also be prepared to climb over seats to get the baby and toddler out when they finally stop working all together. The fact that my small mechanics shop has seen many issues with the locking motor definitely tells me dodge isn't putting safety first at all.
SEAT HEADREST EXPLODED RANDOMLY. THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT OR CAUSE FOR THIS. IT JUST DEPLOYED OUT OF NOWHERE. THIS WAS THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT HEAD REST. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS SITTING IN THE SEAT AT THE TIME.
The contact owns 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that upon reversing and shifting to drive(D), the vehicle lost motive power. The contact turned off the vehicle, and four bystanders assisted the contact in pushing the vehicle into a parking spot. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that an unknown computer software chip needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V524000(Electrical System); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was 115,000.
The driver's side sliding door on this minivan became stuck shut. I had to remove my disabled son through the open window. Not being able to remove him quickly in an emergency because the door has become sealed shut is unacceptable. I cannot believe there is no manual override. I was able to solve this issue by forcing the unlock lever while pressing 'unlock' on the keyfob. However, the main reason I write this complaint, numerous people on various forums report an actuator shorting out in their doors causing this issue, meaning they cannot open the door, by any means, without this actuator being repaired. I cannot for the life of me believe that a system was engineered to not have a simple manual override on a car door. This is beyond me how this got cleared by any sort of regulatory body. If that actuator gets cooked in a fire, I guess the occupants of the car will too.
The headrest on the driver’s seat burst open and deployed while waiting in a parking lot.. A very loud and awful exploded to the back of my head and ringing of the ears.
Vehicle: 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan Component/System: Sliding door lock actuator Is the part available for inspection upon request? Yes Description of the Issue: The sliding door lock actuator failed, causing the door to remain locked at all times. The door cannot be opened manually or using the power door controls. This renders the door completely inoperable. Safety Risk: This is a significant safety hazard. In the event of an emergency, passengers—especially children seated in the rear—cannot exit the vehicle through this door. It severely limits evacuation routes and could result in injury or death if occupants are trapped during an accident or fire. Has the issue been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or service center? Not yet. Issue is ongoing and appointment is pending. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance, or others? No Were there any warning lamps, messages, or symptoms before the failure? No warning lamps or messages appeared. The door simply stopped responding to manual or power lock/unlock commands. When did the issue occur? June 2025. The door has remained inoperable since. Assessment: Based on consumer forums and other reports, this appears to be a known and widespread issue with this model, likely caused by a defective actuator design.
Transmission
Door lock actuator on passenger sliding door beginning to make noise before it likely will fail and not automatically lock door as vehicle accelerates. This is a recall item on the two prior years of this same vehicle.
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle experienced a loss of automotive power. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact pulled over to the shoulder of the road and shift the vehicle into park(P); however, the vehicle was stuck in reverse(R), and failed to shift to neutral(N). The vehicle was towed to a local independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed and DTC: P1602 (PCM not Programmed) and P0606 (Error with PCM) were retrieved. The local dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the front passenger's side headrest unexpectedly deployed. The contact stated that there was no impact to the vehicle that caused the headrest to deploy. There were no injuries sustained. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 123,244.
Driver side sliding door lock jammed shut! No way to use the door causing safety issue in an emergency. Lock will not release. There was no warning signs and dealer cannot get my car in for another month. Passenger side sliding door has done this intermittently.
Beginning at about 75,000 miles (1st lock actuator), my lock actuators seized and rendered the backseat passenger doors unusable. The second lock actuator on the passenger side followed at about 95,000 miles. This is extremely unsafe, because if I have my children as passengers, they must climb in through the back hatch of the minivan. In addition, passengers cannot exit the vehicle from their seats in case of a wreck. Dodge has issued an extended warranty recently, but I am not eligible because my vehicle is now over 100,000 miles. (It was under 100,000 miles at the time of malfunction, but there was no extended warranty or recall at the time.) This common issue with the Dodge Grand Caravan is extremely unsafe, and all defective lock actuators should be replaced/repaired as part of a recall. A warranty that excludes certain users is unsafe.
Power door is broke and won’t open. There was a notice sent out about it but no repairs appeared
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, his children attempted to exit the vehicle through the passenger's side and driver's side sliding doors; however, both sliding doors failed to open. The contact's children exited the vehicle though the front passenger's side and driver's side doors. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The dealer was notified of the failure and advised the contact to schedule an appointment for inspection. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact related the failure to Chrysler Warranty Extension: X98 (Driver and Passenger Sliding Door Power Lock Actuators). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 115,000.
The door lock actuators on BOTH sliding doors do not work properly. about 3 years ago the drivers side door lock actuator stopped unlocking and could not be used. about 7 or 8 months later, it suddenly unlocked but now makes a loud buzzing sound every time it locks. Then about a year later, the passenger side door stopped unlocking and has remained locked for many months now leaving that door unusable. if there were an emergency or accident where the drivers side could not be accessed, passengers in the back of the vehicle would not be able to exit the car safely without climbing over seats. We also are concerned that the drivers side door will fail again and the rear of the vehicle would no longer be accessible. This is a known issue through the manufacturer that they refuse to recall or repair. There is even a current class action lawsuit for this make and model. several similar makes and models through the manufacturer have been affected by this issue for many years. We have not had this inspected by anyone, we bought new door actuator mechanisms but have not replaced them ourselves yet. every indication is this is a difficult and lengthy repair at home and costly if done through an auto repair shop or dealership. With such a well known issue, this should have been investigated, resolved and corrected by the manufacturer and notices for recalls released to the public. This is completely unacceptable that the safety of passengers in these cars are not important to the manufacturer!
My driver's side rear sliding door will not open or unlock. The locking mechanism inside the door panel is seized up and will not release the lock, so the door cannot be opened. This is unsafe because I now only have one door that passengers can exit from the back and if something were to happen to the other back door, people could be trapped. I regularly transport my nieces that are [XXX] , [XXX] , and [XXX] and it makes it very difficult to reach them and if there were an accident on the right side of the car we would not be able to reach them from the left and they would not be able to get out due to the fact that they are in car seats and would need to be taken out by an adult. I have received documentation that states this is a known issue for my Year, Make, and Model, and there is apparently a class action lawsuit about it, but based on the mileage of my car, I won't qualify to have it fixed. I was just made aware that this is a known issue and the car had 70,000 miles on it when I bought it. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that the passenger's side sliding door failed to close properly. The contact had to force the door closed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000.
The vehicle has cut off twice since purchased two days ago while turning. No warning signs I almost hit a sign and another car. There's no way to control the car once the power stops.
I noticed some shifting issues, and some power loss along with an oil leak and the vehicle is not getting enough lubrication. The vehicle is only at 114010 miles and according to the dealership a new engine is needed. A new engine oil cooler was replaced however not the hoses and the problem still exists.
The rear sliding door lock actuator on the passenger stopped working. The door will not open or unlock.
A few weeks ago, our passenger side rear sliding door stopped locking. Yesterday when I unlocked the doors, a very loud noise came from the door. It has happened every time I have unlocked the doors since & it scares my kids every time. I assumed the issue was with the locking mechanism, also known as the actuator. Upon doing some more research I found that MOPAR had actually issued an extended warranty on this part but my VIN is not included in the extended warranty.
My rear passenger sliding door lock is stuck in the unlock position. My concern is my van is at all times unlocked. Also since it won’t lock at all even when I’m driving is that anyone could approach my van while I’m at a light or a parking lot and get inside. My biggest fear is that since it won’t lock it will just pop open one day while I’m driving. My grandchildren or my dogs could be severely injured if this happened. I’ve read online about this being an issue with the Dodge GCV. People suggested writing to you and try to get a recall done for this issue. The dealer wants around $1100 to fix problem. I don’t have that kind of money to spend. My other issue is if I disconnect the cable so I can lock the door is what if my passengers or animals need to get out of back of van in a emergency their going to be trapped back there. Also unrelated to the lock issues. My van is having a hard time shifting and has cut out multiple times on me. And when I turn on my blinkers it turns on the wipers. So possible electrical issue there.
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated while coming to a complete stop on an incline or on a leveled roadway, the vehicle stalled. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle jerked intermittently while depressing the brake pedal. The vehicle was taken to Triple A, where the radiator was replaced; however, the failure persisted. Additionally, the contact stated that the message "Oil Change" was displayed while there was sufficient oil in the vehicle. The dealer was contacted and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in a recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 95,500.
Driver side rear sliding door is stuck closed. Cannot be operated manually, will not lock or unlock with the other car door locks which work fine. My children’s safety is at risk. I bought a van because I have 3 children, and in the event of an accident could delay their rescue. One of my children is a Type 1 diabetic and in event of an accident he’s in even more danger if rescue teams cannot get to him. The problem has not been confirmed by a mechanic, as both Dodge dealerships I have reached out to told me I would have to pay a diagnostic fee, but it’s a known problem with their vehicles. The vehicle has not been inspected by police, or insurance. There was no warning to the part malfunctioning, just stopped opening and noticed when my children tried to use the door to get out at school. My car currently has 109,000 miles on it but there are is a recall for up to 100,000 miles but Dodge states it cannot extend the warranty although I’ve see ln that Mopar extended the warranty for this exact issue but Dodge says it’s misinformation and “good luck”.
My car is stalling. There is a recall for the same year as my car. I called and check if my car was a part of the recall and it wasn’t. Clearly I am having the same issue. They should put all 2017 dodge grand caravan in this recall.
The air bag for passenger tubes going off and on. I don't know why sometimes it will stay off and then other times it will ding all day long while I'm driving? I don't know if it's safe. Enough for anyone to write in it or not
I tried to stop the van and had no brakes. I went right through the intersection, luckily it was early in the morning with light traffic. It could have been deadly. The front flex brake line fitting rusted away and the brake line separated. There was no warning prior to the incident. I had it fixed and still have the part.
Van started to studder and not wanting to go while driving and starting the van. A current U87 Chrysler recall is in effect for my year of van. I called and they said that my vin is not currently affected even though I am having the same issues as this recall.
The issue is with the door locking system making a very loud buzzing noise when the doors either automatically lock/unlock or the lock/unlock buttons on the key fob are pressed. Not only is it irritating, but it is incredibly distracting as the loud noise is unexpected. This can be dangerous because the driver can be startled should someone accidentally press the button on the door while the vehicle is in motion, or when the doors automatically lock as the vehicle is starting to move. Sometimes not all of the doors lock or unlock and the buttons have to be pressed several times before all doors are locked or unlocked. This is also a safety issue.

While stopped at red lights, stopped in traffic or drive-thru services the vehicle to stall out and must be restarted to drive again. I took the vehicle to the auto repair shop, The KAR Shop in Rogers, AR. The board certified mechanic tried to diagnose the reason for the stall and stop and could not find a reason for the problem. The mechanic informed me of a recall on the make, model and year of the same I own. When I called the Dodge dealership they ran my VIN and informed me my particular Caravan is not part of the Electrical System:Wiring: Front Underhood recall that may be equipped with a voltage regulator chip in the circuit board that may fail, causing a stall or no start condition. Even though my specific vehicle is not part of the recall, the same description of defect is happening to mine.
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated while driving 5 MPH, the low oil pressure warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that upon pulling to the side of the road and checking the oil level, the contact noticed that the oil level was significantly low. The vehicle was taken to the nearby Jiffy Lube, where it was diagnosed that the engine oil cooler had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was being repaired. An unknown dealer was contacted. The manufacturer was contacted and denied a reimbursement claim because the VIN was not included in a related recall. The failure mileage was approximately 81,000.
In March 13, 2024, when unlocking the doors from the driver's side control panel there was an audible buzzing sound from the passenger side sliding door. The door was still able to unlock and lock. After doing some research online I found that there was a problem with the locking door actuator that would cause a buzzing sound when engaged. This continued to happen anytime that sliding door was either locked or unlocked. In June of 2024, using the driver's side control panel, I attempted to unlock the passenger sliding door. The door didn't make the buzzing sound, but it also would not unlock. The door was seized shut. I use this vehicle to transport my three children to and from school. Their drop offs are on the right hand side. With the passenger sliding door being seized shut, because of the faulty actuator, my children have to get out on the driver's side door and into incoming traffic! This is a great risk to my children. I called to get it repaired from the dealer I purchased it from with the actuator recall that was issued only to be told thaty vehicle wasn't covered in that recall, yet I still have a door that is seized shut from the recalled actuator part.
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while her sister was driving at an undisclosed speed, the front passenger's side headrest restraint system activated, causing the front passenger's side headrest to deploy. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by the dealer or an independent mechanic. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 103,000.
I bought my 2017 dodge grand caravan in 2019 with 20,000 miles on it. Shortly after I had problems with the key not doing the automatic start. Then the wipers no longer sprayed fluid, then I noticed the van used some radiator fluid when we went drivingg any distance. Then the door locks stopped working.then the passenger slide door stopped shutting and locking or would close on the kids getting in the van. Now when I took it to the dodge dealership about a month th ago to fix the front seat trim that fell off, they said I had a leaky transmission hose. They fixed it a d charged for the flush and hose. One month later I'm getting an error code for the tranny. Had it flushed and paid again. They said they don't know maybe I need a new transmission. I ha e always done the up keep on this van oil changes and such. I looked up recalls a d everything happening to my van happened to the 2016 models. They were recalled for the same transmission problems. It only has 90000 miles. Now the dealership wa ts me to buy a transmission. Please help.
My headrest, on the passenger side of my minivan, decided that it wanted to act as though the airbags had been deployed and the plastic snapped that holds the metal rod and now my headrest is deployed as though I was in an accident even though I wasn't.
originally coding a cylinder 2 misfire, I had spark plugs and coil packs replaced but the engine light continues to stay on. Have done multiple compression tests and it looks like the cylinder needs to be replaced and maybe the engine rebuilt. It wont pass inspection with the light on and the light is permanently on. already paid almost 1,000 to get spark plugs and coil packs replaced and diagnostics.
The lock mechanism on the driver side sliding door is stuck in the lock position. From what I’m reading online this is a VERY common issue. It seems to me that being unable to open the door could be a huge safety concern.
The front passenger active head restraint deployed without being involved in an accident and without warning. Upon inspection, we found that the plastic used to hold the metal rod under tension (until released by the crash sensor) broke. No one was hurt but could have been as this happened just as we were getting into the vehicle.
The sliding doors in my van are not functional. One side does not open at all which is a safety hazard for my children/other passengers to be able to get out of the back seat if an accident occurred. The other side does not lock so it is a safety concern too because someone could enter my vehicle without my knowledge. I would like these fixed so that I can feel safe in my van.
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that the rear driver's side sliding door failed to open as needed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact related the failure to Warranty Extension: X98 (Driver and Passenger Sliding Door Power Lock Actuators); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while driving at various highway speeds, the vehicle intermittently shifted into neutral(N) without warning. In addition, the contact stated that the instrument panel failed to provide correct gear selection. The contact stated that the gear indicator would show that the transmission was in reverse(R) while the transmission was in drive(D). The vehicle was taken to a dealer and the contact was referred to the manufacturer for assistance. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 112,000.
Sudden total transmission failure while in traffic. Took a while to coax it through intersection. After a while able to coax it the mile home at about 10 mph with transmission screaming. Towed to dealer and full transmission replacement at 50,000 miles. 07
Sliding door lock stuck. Door will not open in emergency.
As I was driving home on a city street, the entire car locked. I had no steering control. My brakes didn’t work the Entire vehicle locked. In the middle of the street. I turned the ignition off, put it in park and restarted the car only then did it work properly. This is the second time this vehicle has locked. This is very dangerous as I had a child in the car with me and I was in traffic. My brakes didn’t work, I had to use two feet really hard then I was able to stop the vehicle. The steering wheel didn’t work. Nothing worked. I don’t know What’s the problem. The very first time this happened, while dropping the child off at school, I put the car in park, I was not able to get the shifter out of park. The car locked. I sat in my car, wondering what to do decided to go on the web and check out problems with this particular vehicle, then I noticed there is a little door leading to the shifter to change it manually. But when you are in traffic, there is no time to look for a screwdriver to open the door to do anything manually. This is a safety hazard and I really don’t know why there is not a recall on this vehicle.
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that the rear driver's and passenger's side sliding doors failed to unlock as needed. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where an unknown assessment was made, and the contact was provided an estimate for the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to an unknown recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
The driver’s side sliding door is stuck in the locked position. It can not be manually unlocked or unlocked using the fob or unlock button. There was no indication the system was failing.
We found a warranty extension for Dodge Caravan Driver and Passenger Sliding Door Power Lock Actuators, but when I searched for our VIN, it is not included, but we are having the same problem. All of a sudden, our driver side sliding door was stuck shut, and would not open manually or with the key fob. I found a workaround from an online forum to hold the manual lock to open position, while pressing the unlock button either on the driver door or the key fob. Since then, when the sliding door shuts and wouldn't open, this is what we do. And then shortly after that, we noticed a loud buzzing sound coming from the same door when accelerating and the automatic lock activates.
Lock actuator malfunction. Unable to open side door.
This weekend both passenger and driver side power sliding doors seized shut, in the locked position. The doors will not manually unlock with applying a lot of force to the locking lever. Looking online there is a manufacturers warranty that was extended to 15 years or 150,000 miles for this specific problem, pointing out the locking actuator as a faulty product, only on certain models, and years. My make and year qualify but the manufacturer has not added my model to the list of affected parts. I have verified my model has the same actuator MPN as the one affected, but still not added to the list. This is a safety issue as how do we get our kids out in a safe and timely manner in an event of an emergency? This weekend we had to crawl back to the back to safely buckle them in and get them out. Would like for this issue to be forced to add the 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT model to the extension of the manufacturers warranty known problem with rear power sliding and locking door actuators. The manufacturer is aware of the problem and is at risk of a lawsuit of this issue.
Driver's side passenger door will not open due to a faulty actuator. Other vehicles with the same make/model and year have this exact issue covered under warranty, but for some reason this one is not. I believe the warranty should be expanded to cover more dodge vehicles. This is a Safety issue as it prevents a safe and timely evacuation from the vehicle.
Hello, My van is having a pcm issue that some vins have that theres a recall is on. U87. While driving the vechile will randomly shut off and turn back on. This has almost cause a accident with my kids in the car. My vin isn't covered by this recall but i would like it to be covered.
Sliding automatic door makes loud buzzing noise when opening. Apparently this is a known problem and Dodge has done nothing about it. After doing some research it seems everyone that has this model has this issue after a few years. It will eventually be a safety issue when the door stops working and we can’t get out in an emergency. Do the right thing and make this a recall. It’s a known issue.
The car stalls and shuts off when coming to a stop. When attempting to stop, sometimes it keeps moving forward as if the breaks weren’t working properly. It only happens when I’m slowing down. No codes comes up nor does the check engine light turn on. It had been checked by different mechanis and they cant figure out what is wrong with the car.
Driver side passenger door is stuck in lock. Can not manuallly unlock from inside or outside. Have tried with key entry and that isn't working either. Had mechanic check and he thinks it could be a mechanical issue and could be very costly to fix because unable to unlock manually and would not be able to remove door to fix. This could possible be a safety issue if ever in an accident. Our daughter has the same year and is experiencing the same issue.
The driver side sliding door lock actuator has failed. I found MOPAR Warranty Bulletin number D-21-15, dated November 10, 2021 that indicates Dodge has extended the warranty for this part to 2015-2017 year Grand Caravans because this part commonly fails. However, Dodge is refusing to cover the replacement of this part for my vehicle. Mileage is 72,000.
Unable to open rear left sliding door, lock actuator is failed. Burning smell from left sliding door 1 year ago. Right sliding door make buzzing noice from the lock actuator area, sometimes unable to open sliding door.
Both sliding door actuators are malfunctioning. The door locks have to be manually locked and unlock. Searching the internet, I found that if the door is not lock, the door can disengage and fly open. This has not occurred and we keep the doors locked. I was told by the dealership that because my 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan was manufactured in Canada that the RT warranty does not pertain to my vehicle. This is a very expensive repair. Since both of my doors are affected, it could cost around $1,300 to repair both. If this was an isolated incident, I could understand having to pay for the repair. However, it seems to be a common problem. The part is defective and the cost should not be bared by the consumer.
It started off as the can stalling occasionally when I came to a stop. Then it became more and more frequent. Video is available to see the RPM move and then drop to 0. I then have to restart the vehicle which causes a delay which other drivers are not patient about. They immediately want to go and I have to flash my hazards and restart the van. Mechanical issue is unknown by the mechanic and dealer service department.
KEY FOB WILL NOT FUNCTION. NO ACESS TO INSIDE VEHICLE.
Travelling at the speed of 55 miles per hour the vehicle seemed to completely shut off on its own, thus causing immediate loss of power steering and power brakes. I was able to very carefully bring the vehicle to a complete stop after a half a mile or so. Fortunately, I was travelling on a long straight county road without any surrounding traffic. Once I turned the ignition totally off and back on again at the side of the road, everything seems to operate as normal. No check engine light, no other warnings came on thereafter. After doing some research online I found customer complaints experiencing the very same issues with certain Dodge Grand Caravan vehicles, however Dodge doesn’t seem to have any sort of recall for this extremely hazardous issue. It seems like it may be a faulty ignition switch problem!
The driver's side sliding door is stuck in the locked position and the passenger side sliding door is making a loud buzzing noise when unlocked which means that one is next to go out from what I read. If both of them get locked this poses a major safety issue getting small passengers out of the back in case of emergency. There have been many instances of this reported on these vehicles and even extended warranties issued but only for a select amount of vans even though it seems to happen on every one ever made.
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that the driver's side rear sliding door was stuck and failed to open. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.
The automatic sliding rear door is stuck in the lock position causing it to not be able to open automatically or manually. This poses a huge risk of there was a vehicle fire or other incident that wouldn't allow my back seat passengers to get out of the car. The door will not lock or unlock.
There appears to be an electrical problem when locking/unlocking the doors, and a loud buzz occurs and at times, the doors hesitate to lock or unlock, which in my opinion, is a safety hazard.
Both electrical doors don't want to open.
Car randomly stalled out without warning or signs of issues. We just purchased this used from Automax Hyundai. It has happened a total of 4 times this week.
*The passenger side sliding door will no longer lock. It will not lock with the clicker, the indoor power lock or manually. *This is a dangerous risk as an intruder may be able to access the interior of my van even if my kids or I are in it. Also, because it doesn't lock it could open while the car is driving injuring someone, etc... *I have not yet had it checked at a dealer. I found MANY other complaints from people saying the same thing. I assumed there was already a recall for this and was very disappointed that is not the case. I did not check with insurance, etc.. as our warranty has already expired and it wasn't caused by an accident, etc. *There was no warning that this was going to occur. It worked one day and didn't the next. I first noticed the problem about 3/4 weeks ago and have been looking for information, etc.. on recalls or what to do with this. It is obviously a safety hazard and it was not caused by anything we did.
The drivers side door remained locked when all other door are set to unlock. The drivers side door will not come unlocked whether by remote or manually pushing unlock. This happened on its own. A mechanic looked at it and said he would not mess with it because he was scared he we break the door and suggested going to a dealer. The car manufacturer issued a recall (Mopar X98) for this very same issue but it didn't include my car serial number. So, they don't want to honor the recall on my car. This is a serious safety concern on this vehicle as it is used for the transportation of several children and should an accident happen the chance of being trapped is very high since the door will not open at all. I located a service bulletin 23-036-21 that was issued and a Mopar Warranty Extension bulletin which states it includes this model year but Dodge has stated this particular VIN is not part of it. How does a VIN determine whether the actuator is going to go bad?
2017 Grand Caravan - check engine light came on at about 90000 miles. Confirmed that it is a cylinder 2 misfire. Repair shop indicates that the cylinder needs to be re-machined (or the entire engine replaced) and also indicated that the cylinder 2 issue is well-known with the Chrysler/Dodge engines and was part of a recall for earlier models. Estimated repair cost is $4K - $5K.
Cylinder 2 misfire and breaking
The passenger headrest busted open. There was no warning or anything like that. Also prior to that my window fell in the door well. I took it to the dealership and paid for repairs. I am glad the window did not break while I was in the car. I am taking the car to the dealership this week concerning the passenger headrest.
door lock actuator failed - driver side sliding door - door stuck closed will not open
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that upon entering the vehicle, the passenger’s side headrest opened without impact or a crash. There were no warning lights illuminated prior to the failure. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 90,787.
Passenger seat neck head rest exploded without any warning or no vehicle accident. I was at a stop light when this happens.
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated when she attempted to start the vehicle there was no sound of the starter motor and the instrument cluster remained black when she turned the ignition on. The contact had attempted to jump start the vehicle and had to have the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic. The mechanic diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the TIPM panel had failed. The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact had researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V813000 (Electrical System). The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 46,000.
The passenger sliding door starting making a squeaky noise and now won’t open or even unlock. The lock actuator is not working causing this to be a safety issue. I know it was a recall on certain caravan but mine was not. Trying to figure out how it can be added in the recall.
2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. Check engine light reading code P0302 (cylinder 2 misfire). Mechanic replaced spark plugs and coils, but car is still throwing same code. This is appears to also be an issue with a recall on other year models of Dodge Grand Caravans. Mechanics unsure what to do as components have already been replaced and engine light comes back on after clearing code repeatedly.
Was on vacation and when I returned from a 9 day trip my car, which had not been drove at all, the drivers side head rest had popped out. This is part of the air bag system. That happened July 2023. September 13, 2023 at 6:01 pm I was driving down the road and my passenger head rest popped out hitting my daughter in the back of the head. The noise it made scared me to death. I am no longer covered under any type of warranty and now expected to pay for something that is a manufactured defect.
The drivers side door remained locked when all other door are set to unlock. The drivers side door will not come unlocked whether by remote or manually pushing unlock. This happened on its own. A mechanic looked at it and said he would not mess with it because he was scared he we break the door and suggested going to a dealer.
Cylinder 2 Random mis-fire. Began fall 2022. Multiple attempts to repair failed. Cylinder head replaced in Feb/Mar 2023. September 10, 2023 same issue reoccurred. Engine began to mis-fire violently, needed to be towed back to Dodge dealership where original repair was completed. Mileage at the time of the head replacement 91205. Mileage when problem reoccurred 97108.
When locking and unlocking the doors or using the automatic lock when the car is in drive, the driver side sliding door either will not unlock at all (even manually) or when it automatically locks and unlocks it makes an aggressive vibration sound and does not work. I have to go through the passenger side sliding door to take the car seat out of the van. If it were an emergency and I needed to open the rear door it would cause a serious safety issue
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that the sliding door on the driver’s failed to close as needed. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer to be diagnosed and the contact was informed that the sliding door actuator had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact learned of an Extended Warranty Coverage; however, the vehicle was not included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 113,000.
I had just finished a 45 minute drive to work without incident. The vehicle was in park and idling in a parking lot, while I sat in the driver's seat. All the sudden the headrest smacked me in the back of my head and made a loud popping noise. After getting out to see what happened, I discovered my headrest had deployed the safety feature, of popping forward.
The left (driver's side) passenger sliding door will not open. The lock actuator seems to be frozen. It is available for inspection as needed. Safety concern is the limited egress from the vehicle. The problem has been confirmed by a dealer and is persistent. No warnings of any kind were present prior to the failure. The failure appeared in August of 2023. An appeal to MOPAR for a repair has been denied, in spite of the fact that other vehicles have had similar problems.
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, the driver's side window collapsed into the door panel and failed to roll up. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the window regulator. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 29,800.
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that the passenger’s side sliding door failed to open as designed. The contact stated that the driver’s side sliding door made a buzzing sound while coming from the power lock actuator. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failures, but no assistance was offered. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in an Extended Coverage for the failure. The failure mileage was 86,000.
Transmission Went out Last year I just found out I could report it this seems to be a common issue with these Vans and would be nice to get some help with repair costs as I was told around 6k to repair. Also the flywheel has a crack in it I ordered a new oem replacement hoping the transmission shop can replace that while they do the repairs.
The rear drivers side slider door has locked shut and no amount of tries to release the lock will work. This is a major safety concern being that we cannot open the door manually or otherwise in case of emergency
The passenger's side sliding door lock switch is stuck in the locked position, so I can't open that door. There is a huge safety issue because the passengers can't open that door to exit, in case of an emergency. The car manufacturer issued a recall (Mopar X98) for this very same issue but it didn't include my car serial number, because my car is newer by about a month. So, they don't want to honor the recall on my car.
My 2017 Dodge Grand caravan gt left sliding door has a faulty door actuator. Had the van for 6 years, I read that the 2016 had the same problem. I hear the funny sound when locking the door. It has started May 2023.
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that the passenger’s side sliding door failed to open from inside or outside. The contact stated that he was unable to open the door manually. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the door lock actuator had failed and needed to be replaced. Additionally, the contact was informed that the VIN was not included in a recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
On 7/2/2023 at approximately 12:04pm my family and I were driving home from church. My husband was driving and the driver's side head rest exploded, punching him in the back of the head while driving. We were very fortunate and no vehicle accident occurred. We were on the on ramp of Judge Tanner Blvd. in Covington, LA traveling to get onto Hwy 190 going north. First thing Monday morning on 7/3/2023, I called Dodge Corporation to report the incident and was given a case number (Case #86604720) and was told there was no recall on the head rest but to go to the dealership immediately. I brought my van to Rainbow Chrysler Dodge Jeep at 301 River Highland Blvd, Covington, LA 70433. At the dealership I was told this is a "common occurrence" and was covered under the extended warranty. I asked since it is a "common occurrence" why was it not recalled. I was told it is not deemed a safety hazard by Dodge. Seriously? Being punched in the back of the head while driving is not a safety concern by Dodge? My husband did have a headache for the rest of the day but his situation could have been much worse plus we could have been in an accident endangering our entire family (myself and 3 kids). I asked if I could get the passenger seat head rest replaced too and was told it's not covered unless it explodes. A recall needs to be made on these headrest before a fatal accident occurs.
The sliding door power lock actuators fail. Making the door totally inoperable. This is the same issue that prompted Mopar warranty bulletin D-21-15. The dealer Jeff Belzer's Dodge of Lakeville MN. Service writer [XXX] says that this vin of vehicles is not in the bulletin. The vehicle is in the coverage period. It should be in the bulletin, should there be a fire or other emergency required to exit the vehicle. The safety issue is the same as the bulletin D-21-15, one could be trapped in the vehicle. I think that the not being able to open a vehicle door due to poor components would be a safety issue. And not just a warranty issue. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
The headrest on the front passenger seat randomly deployed due to design defect. The plastic housing that holds the pin broke under the regular stress of the spring causing the headrest to deploy without warning.
The rear drivers side door is locked shut. This is is serious safety issue in an emergency. Especially with small children. This needs to be recalled immediately
My center doors on my mini van are inoperable. About 3 months ago, I tried to open the door to get my grandchild out of her carseat, and the door wouldn't open by the outside handle or the button on the control above. My dash would light up staying door must be unlocked to open...I pressed to unlock..and nothing happened. I had to enter through the drivers side to get her out. Today i went to the grocery store and i went to open the door with the remote keyfob and nothing happened. I tried to open the door manually with the outside handle and nothing ... so now both sides of my vehicle cannot open, very dangerous and now my van is useless carrying grandkids to and from . The Chrysler mini van had this same problem, and my friend had her automatic door accentuators replaced for free...there was a recall for this problem on earlier YEAR mini vans. This car is only 6 years old and its A Very dangerous situation now and a big inconvience as i cant enter the vehicle in tbe center to use the seats or stow away for transportiong large items. I called the dealership they want $1000-1500 .could be more couldbe less they said, .this is unacceptable
I bought my car in 2022 and am about to have to fix the transmission for the SECOND time for 3,000 dollars and am also being told the motor is going out. My neighbor had my same car and had the same issues. Transmission and motor failure.
Sliding door lock actuator failed to open door. I noticed a buzzing sound when opening recently and now it is shut down, it cannot open. I provided these two reports for your reference, and I need you to help me for Dodge to repair my vehicle. I filed complaint with the Texas Office of the Attorney General.
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to properly shift gear. The vehicle started to shift gear at approximately 50 MPH. There was an abnormal winding sound detected. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the third and fourth gear were inoperable. There were no shavings in the engine. The dealer recommended that the transmission be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 131,000.
The rear driver side sliding door locks seized and the door can not be unlocked via the power locks nor can it be unlocked manually. The door is stuck shut. This issue occured under 60k miles and the door is no longer functional at all. The same issue occured 3 years prior on the passenger side and it was repaired under warranty. The vehicle is no longer under warranty for the second failure. I owned a 2012 Dodge caravan previously and the exact same issue occured on both sliding door locks about a year apart from each other. The repair bill for each was 1,000 dollars to replace a defective actuator. The door locks actuators on the dodge Grand caravan are defective and present a risk of siezing at any time, trapping rear passengers in the vehicle. There is no known way to unlock the doors either manually or electronically outside of a 1,000 dollar repair once the issue occurs. There was no audible or visual warning prior to the occurance in all four cases. The locks just suddenly seized. Google search reveals the issue happens at a high frequency with the dodge Grand caravan. Age of vehicle does not seem to be a determing factor.
The rear drivers sliding door would not unlock or open, both manually, or with the electronics. If I were carrying passengers, they would have not been able to exit the vehicle through that door (except the window). The actuator was bad, and I ended up having to take it to the dealer to have it repaired. This is a known issue with the 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan RT . I have a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan XLT (better trim package/enhancements) and yet, this was not covered under the NHTSA "Extended Warranty" for this van. My van has less than 70 miles on it, and is in great condition with no accidents. The door on the van had the "chattering" noise described, and occassionally not close. This is similar to other Dodge owner experiences. I find it hard to believe that my Van isn't covered under this warranty, and so it cost me over $1100.00 for the repair. I would like to be reimbursed for this issue and am attaching my invoice from the dealer as proof.
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that the rear driver's side door failed to open as needed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the rear driver's side door actuator motor had seized and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 126,000.
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that the rear passenger’s side sliding door failed to open using the remote or manually. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the failure cause was not diagnosed due to the cost of the diagnostic fee. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 42,900.
The front passenger door started to not unlock when using the fob. Now it won't lock or unlock at all. Starting this week the front driver-side door started to have the same issue. Will not lock or unlock when using the fob.
My rear sliding back van door stopped working on 4/18/2023. It switched to the locked position and cannot be opened manual or by any of the buttons on the van. There was a recall for this but for some reason my van was not included. The dealer said to have the recall attached to my vin so the issue can be fixed. It is a safety problem because I have 4 young kids in car seats that ride in the back and if there’s an emergency it is not easy to get to them or get them out.
This appears to be a known problem in these but my vehicle was built AFTER the period Chrysler acknowledged a problem for. My van was built in June 2017 whereas the settlement states vehicles built until January of 2017. I paid $400 to have the dealer replace the lock actuator in the passenger sliding door in July 2021. The door would not lock or unlock without manually moving the switch. Since the "fix" that door seems to rattle and has gotten worse over time but it does lock now. In the recent weeks, the driver side now no longer works. I have just contacted Chrysler about this and am awaiting a response. But a) I should not have paid for the first repair and b) I shouldn't have to for the second considering this is a known issue. I use this vehicle for my family and having doors that don't lock or unlock is a HUGE concern for me.
Every time I open the door - either from the inside, or the outside, or even using the automatic opener from the keyring there is a loud buzzing sound. It's a risk as I am not sure that the door is working properly.
We own a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan with 72k miles on it. In February of 2023 we started to notice it did not seem as responsive on acceleration; it was especially noticeable on highway entrances ramps. Shortly after, the check engine light came on. We took it in to a local repair shop and were advised we needed spark plugs and coils replaced, but that did not solve the issue, and said we would need to take it to a dealer. We took the vehicle to our local Dodge dealership, and after ~$900 in diagnostics, they advised we would need an entire new cylinder, as the old one had been warped. A vehicle with only 72k miles should not need a new cylinder, the folks at the dealership even admitted as much. The total repair ended up costing ~$4k. I did some research and found the 2011-2013 Grand Caravans had a recall for the exact same issue, and after searching through the various complaints on the NHTSA website for the 2017 model, it seems clear this is still an issue. This is clearly an issue with the manufacturing process that has existed since 2011, and a new recall should be issued for Grand Caravans through at least 2017.
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the driver’s side headrest air bag deployed. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated no one was injured nor sought medical attention. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 71,501.
Our vehicles right sliding door has been making a buzzing sound when unlocking said door. Many other caravans have had this problem with the same part, the lock actuator. Our buzzed until one day the door completely stopped unlocking and now we cannot use the door for entry or exit.
Driver side sliding door is locked and will not open electronically or manually. This is a known problem covered by Technical Service Bulletin (TSB 10177524) for Dodge Caravan vehicles built on or after November 01, 2015 (MDH 1101XX) and on or before June 30, 2017 (MDH 0630XX). According to the VIN on my vehicle it was built 23 Sept 2017 and does not fall within the range of the TSB. Both the dealer and Chrysler Customer service refuses to repair the problem because my vehicle doesn't fall within the range of the TSB. Please add my vehicle to the other approx 500 complaints already on file with your office.
Driver's side power door has completely seized and will not open. This is a serious safety concern on this vehicle as it is used for the transportation of several children and should an accident happen the chance of being trapped is 50% since the door will not open at all. I located a service bulletin 23-036-21 that was issued and a Mopar Warranty Extension bulletin which states it includes this model year but Dodge has stated this particular VIN is not part of it. How does a VIN determine whether the actuator is going to go bad?
van sliding door lock actuator failure - door is stuck shut and can't be opened in emergency previous extended warranties did not cover this vehicle even though it's a 2017 model year
As is common with Dodge Caravans, this 2017 model has had a door lock actuator fail and the sliding door is inoperable and will not open - it is stuck closed. This prevents safe exit of the vehicle in the event of an accident or fire or other emergency endangering the lives of the passengers.
Front driver head on collision passenger curtain airbags failed to deploy and passenger front air bag exploded also third row drivers side passenger seat belt failed. Passenger flew to passenger side of seat and head shattered window and sustained head injuries which could've possibly been prevented by curtain air bag deployment 55mph head on collision driverside focused due to veering vehicle hasn't been inspected by insurance company yet only personal mechanic.
Loud buzzing on driver side sliding door when locked. Door failed to open.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The passenger sliding power door lock will not release electronically or manually. It can be available for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? This leaves the passenger on that side trapped in the vehicle. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, by an independent service center. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No warning of the problem. Failed to function 12/27/2022
I have 2017 Dodge Caravan, I loves this van I recently went to the shop to do routine repairs. Also get the engine light checked, the mechanic stated I need a tune up. A few days later after getting the tune up check engine light came back on, and van begin to ride rough and shake. The van was struggling to keep up with city speed limit and engine light came back on so I took the van back to the shop they checked engine light and it read cylinder 2 is back firing and get a tune up. That did't seemed right so the mechanic checked previous work, there was no problems with the parts they used for the tune up, the mechanic looked a little further to find out why the engine light still on. The mechanic said I need a cylinder, they told me to go to the dealer because they don't have that special tools to fix the cylinder. I said how much to replace the cylinder the mechanic said about 2,000 dollars or depending on the damages to the engine because of bad cylinder. They also said there were some coolant and other substance leaking onto the coil, wires causing damage to the engine, also in a short time the spark plugs and coils will be effected again. The mechanic said this can be very expensive to repair and I can't use my remote starter while the engine light is on this is so inconvenience. I am so upset I worked hard at keeping up repairs, keeping van nice and clean inside and out, I was just to the point of paying off my car loan off finally owning the van. Now this situation forcing me to make a decision keep my investment or trade it off, get back into debt and having a large car note, I don't want that I am so heart broken over this situation and not having the money to fix the van it's just to much. I was blind sided never, I would never thought this would happen to me and my family of six. OMG!
Passenger side sliding door will not open. It is stuck in the lock position and will not unlock even after attempting both manual and electronic unlocking. Faulty lock actuator likely cause.
Driver's side door is stuck and locked shut. This puts my precious cargo, my children, at risk of having to exit the vehicle on a potentially more dangerous side with traffic. In the event of an accident this door locked shut can't be used to escape the vehicle if need be. No warning lights. Online this appears to be a very common issue in Chrysler/Dodge vans.
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle was stalling despite depressing the accelerator pedal. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that he replaced the coils and spark plugs; however, the failure recurred, and the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and after performing a compression test, the contact was made aware of a misfire in cylinder #2. The vehicle was taken to another independent mechanic and the previous diagnosis was confirmed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated her children were able to open the passenger’s side sliding door while the vehicle was locked, and the contact noticed that the door would not lock securely as designed. On another occasion, while trying to open the driver’s side sliding door, the door would not unlock. The contact unlocked the vehicle with the key fob, but the door would not unlock. The contact also attempted to unlock the door manually, but the door failed to unlock. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the vehicle needed to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vehicle was not under recall. No additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 110,000.
Airbag light is constantly on. Took vehicle to a repair shop. They scanned code B1C27-13 and found that drivers side wiring harness needs to be replaced. They contacted Chrysler and was told part wouldn't be available for at least a year. Airbags will not deploy if an accident should occur. This is a definite safety issue that should be fixed immediately.
The rear sway bar mount on frame had completely broken off and the sway bar was making a loud clunking sound as we were driving which caused difficulty to control the vehicle. Upon inspection, mechanic found that the sway bar had broken away from the bottom axle area. This caused the body of the vehicle to be off center which caused the vehicle to rub the left tire which in turn rubbed the fuel neck and rubbed off the protected rubber coating. It was advised to not drive the vehicle as it was not safe. We have an independent mechanics report.
About 7 months ago the drivers side rear door would not open , after about 2 months I took my Van to Bryden's dealer in Beloit WI. The people in the repair area, said it would cost $800 or more to repair. I could not afford that. So the door still won't open, Family came to town and wanted me to drive them around, which I refused saying with the sliding door not working , that could be dangerous. Well today the passengers rear sliding door quit opening , so now anybody in the back would be in real danger if the Van got in an accident. I guess I will take the van back to the dealer and ask them to please fix it free of charge because of the danger it causes, I could use some help from you , to see that this van doors get repaired, thank you.Mike
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that the passenger’s side sliding door could not be opened electronically or manually. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000. The VIN was not available.
The van slid backwards then accelerated at a higher speed going from a stop to slowly with a light tap on the gas pedal. The speed does not go higher than 15mph with the rmp too high when this occurs. It jerks back when trying to drive it forward. Has not left the dealership parking lot. Drove out 3mile out with this occuring. 3 attempts to fix. Still not driving well and can't leave the dealership lot.
The driver rear sliding door locking mechanism failed in the locked position preventing the door from functioning. The passenger front door lock actuator has failed preventing normal functioning of the door lock causing the car to remain unlocked after pressing the door lock buttons as well as preventing the door from unlocking if the door lock was manually locked. The van is available upon request for inspection and has not been repaired due to high cost and repair time necessary. We’ve also been unable to find replacement parts locally. Malfunctioning of the locking mechanisms puts passengers of the vehicle at risk if there was to be an emergency or accident and the door is unable to be opened. We are concerned about experiencing further issues with locking mechanism failures in the unaffected doors. We have not had the issue inspected by the dealer as our vehicle is outside of the warranty period. There are no warning lights or indicators for this problem.
Buzzing sound when passenger side sliding door should unlock after removing key from dash (actuator failed/failing), door stays locked. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer to be inspected. The manufacturer was not informed of this common failure.
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated while driving at various speeds and coming to a complete stop, the vehicle would shut off. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle would restart, however, the vehicle would stall when driving from the complete stop at higher speed. The contact stated that he would shift into neutral (N) while at a complete stop and would then drive at approximately 15 MPH to prevent the vehicle from stalling. The vehicle was taken to two different independent mechanics who diagnosed that the torque converter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 93,000.
Sliding door power lock actuator failure. A buzzing sound is heard when locking and unlocking the doors of the vehicle. The locking mechanism of the vehicle is failing to properly lock and unlock the rear sliding doors. A nhtsa bulletin (attached) has already been issued for this issue covering certian 2015 to 2017 Dodge Grand Caravans. My vehicle is a 2017 model with the affected door lock actuators. Upon contacting FCA I was informed my vehicle does not show this extended warranty covering this defect.
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated the driver's side and passenger’s side sliding side doors and locks failed to lock as designed. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact called the local dealer but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised him to have the vehicle diagnosed. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
Passenger sliding door buzzing and locking shut, creating a major safety issue not being able to get out quickly in an emergency. The door actuator on same year grand caravans were affected according to NHTSA recent probe. Chrysler is repairing those with inoperable doors, but my vin is not included in the 2022 bulletin! I have the same year van and same problem. The sliding door components are supposed to last the life of the vehicle and not break or jam doors within 4 years.
Driver side back sliding door stuck in lock position, does not open automatically or manually
When I shut my car off and open the driver's side door there is a loud buzzing sound in the passenger side sliding door. Very annoying. I noticed there are quite a number of complaints with this problem on different websites. One person had to pay $680 to the dealership to have it repaired. It seems that this should be a recall issue. That is a lot of money.
The passenger side sliding door lock is stuck in the unlock position, so I can't lock the door. The driver side sliding door lock is stuck in the locked position, so I cannot open that door. Both locks cannot be changed manually. In case of emergency a passenger would be locked in the car. Especially a child in a car seat. With the door that is stuck in the unlock position, this invites theft. I am seeing hundreds of complaints online with owners of Chrysler and Dodge Van's 2013 through 2018 experiencing the same issues. Why hasn't there been a recall on this safety issue?
The passenger sliding door open and closes with no warning, hatch opens and closes with no warning, dogs were closed in and died due to this malfunction because they thought we were going somewhere. Horn goes off and on for no reason, ac in rear does comes on and off. Drivers side sliding door does not operate at this point. Now transmission is malfunction.
The driver side sliding door of the van is stuck in a locked position. It cannot be unlocked manually or remotely. There is no way for a passenger to open that door in event of emergency.
I attempted to turn off my engine and removed and key as usual and walked away. Fire department calls me and says my van is smoking. Turns out even though I removed the key the engine kept running but the fans turned off causing my van to over heat and parts of my engine cracked leaking oil and coolant. My van is not drivable now.
The driver side sliding door imakes a loud buzzing sound when the door locks. This occurs when the locks are manually activated (by door button or remote) and when the door locks are activated due to movement/speed. This is a potential safety issue as if the door fails to open in an event of an emergency, this could put life in danger. This is a family vehicle made for children that shouldn't have to take the risk of not being able to get out of a vehicle in a timely matter. I am uncomfortable and do not want to risk my children or other passengers with a door that would not open in an emergency due to one failed component. In doing research I see that this is an issue that have plagued many owners of Grand Caravans produced during the same time period. The door actuator inside of the door has failed. This should be recalled and fixed appropriately.
PASSENGER DOOR WONT LOCK OR OPEN ELECT. DRIVERS SIDE IS LOCKED AND WILL NOT OPEN AT ALL TOTALLY LOCKED A BIG SAFETY HAZARD THE ACUATORS ON BOTH DOORS ARE FAULTY AND ARE A BIG DANGER IF YOU CAN NOT GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THIS HAS BEEN KNOWN FOR YEARS BY DODGE AND NOTHING HAS HAPPENED . PLEASE RECALL THIS MAJOR PROBLEM THERE ARE THOUSANDS ON THE INTERNET THAT HAS SAME PROBLEM BOTH SLIDING DOORS THANK YOU
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated there was an abnormal clicking noise detected from the driver's side rear sliding door. The sliding door had seized and failed to open. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact called the local dealer however, the vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 59,000.
The passenger side sliding rear door just suddenly doesn't open, doesn't unlock, you are unable to open it even manually.
The passenger side automatic sliding door has stopped working. Can’t open it manually either. The door is stuck in a closed position and can’t even unlock the door. This is a safety issue due to in an emergency we can get out of the vehicle using that door.
I came to a stop sign and my 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan was making a whining noise. When I pressed the gas the van hesitated to go then it jumped . It kept skipping . Then-it accelerated while I was driving. I came to a four way stop and when it was my turn to go my van hesitated before it would go.
I'VE NOTICED SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SLIDING DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR FAILING, MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO OPEN DOOR. MINE HASNT FAILED COMPLETELY YET, ALTHOUGH THE GEARS ARE MAKING A LOUD BUZZING.JUST REPORTING.
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated while driving approximately 55 MPH and attempting to accelerate to overtake another vehicle, the vehicle accelerated abruptly. The contact depressed the brake pedal but the vehicle continued to accelerate independently. The contact stated that the cruise control light fluctuated on and off. There was smoke detected coming from the brakes. The contact shifted into neutral. The contact stated that the tachometer display revved up and the vehicle was idling; then revved up to 4000 RPM and then back to idle. The contact was able to shift the vehicle to drive and the vehicle drove as designed. The contact called the local dealer but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified but no additional assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 62,500.
Component: Front Drivers Window Regulator Safety: Window popped and fell straight down while driving. Me, and my children where put at risk of it breaking and glass flying everywhere. It has happened not only once to me but twice, in my other Van of the same style different make (Chrysler Town & Country). No warning ligts or anything.
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle hesitated upon depression of the accelerator pedal without warning. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V524000 (Electrical System) which she linked to the failure. The contact also stated that an abnormal whining sound was coming from the vehicle while the vehicle was stationary. Additionally, the contact stated that the air bag warning light was intermittently flashing on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that an air bag sensor needed to be replaced; however, the parts for the repair were on backorder. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
1. The engine failed, and the engine light came on. It is available for inspection upon request. 2. It started shaking, slowing down, and it felt like it was going to stall, therefore, putting myself and others at risk. To this day, once in awhile I continue to feel it shake. 3. I've spoken to a mechanic about it, and he knew of this issue. He gave me information about it and referred me to the manufacturer. No others have inspected it. 4. The Dept of Motor Vehicles, and it failed inspection today on 7/2/22. 5. Check engine light appeared when the problem first started. They first appeared back around November 2021. Note: The spark plugs and coils were replaced 3 times in an effort to resolve this issue, and after that I found out that there was an issue reported with this back in 2011-2013 and is still occurring even though the company has stated that they fixed the problem according to my research.
Lock actuator on passenger side sliding door broke. Can not open door. This is a known problem on the Dodge Caravans. Although I have a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan, the Dodge hotline said my vin # is not included. But yet lock actuator is broken. There has been a service advisor issued just not for my vin #.
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start with message "NO FUSE" displayed. The contact stated that the vehicle was jump-started however, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the failure as voltage B sensor low, system voltage low, and two unknown manufacturer fault codes. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the independent mechanic advised him to contact the manufacturer for recall information. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not under recall. The contact researched recalls on NHTSA.gov and found NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V524000 (Electrical System) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The approximate failure mileage was 70,158.
Drivers side rear door wouldn't open by using buttons on key fob, buttons in vehicle or by manually opening it. The door unable to be opened. I had to take it to the dealer.
Two days after getting the vehicle inspected prior to a long road trip; the check engine light came on. Apparently, Dodge Vans commonly have a cylinder two misfire. My online research indicates this is an expensive repair and isn’t covered under warranty. We have 89k miles.
Our 2017 back sliding doors won’t open we had to get people out by the front passenger door. It will not open manually. This was very scary! Especially when the kids are freaking out.
Drivers sliding back door stuck in lock position. Will not unlock or open even manually. I have two special needs kids and I bought the double doors for safety in a crash. (Previous vehicle I had to climb through the window to get kiddo). Will not manually open. Used a fix of pushing the lock to unlock position and hitting the unlock on my key fob and it finally unlocked and opened. Need to at least be able to manually open door for kids!!
The sliding door on the passenger side will not open at all. It is due to a failing actuator. It is a well known issue and a great safety concern.
The driver's side automatic rear door will not open or close. The locking mechanism appears to be stuck and will not lock or unlock.
A loud buzzing noise when locking or unlocking doors. Sounds like it’s coming from the automatic sliding door on drivers side.
The component that failed are the passenger sliding doors. The actuator has failed. Both passenger sliding doors do not close automatically. Sometimes the door will lock and remain stuck. Sometimes the doors do not lock at all. This poses a safety threat if door can not be closed properly. Vehicle can not be driven until doors close. The failure of the mechanical issue also poses a higher theft risk since I can not lock my sliding doors at times. This is sliding door issue is a well known issue according to research via web. Many Grand caravan owners are experiencing the sliding door actuator problem. YouTube videos has acknowledged this problem. I have been to Ontario, CA Dodge dealership and had my driver door actuator repaired as this was also the cause of my driver door not locking. Dodge denied this is a issue. As of 2021, Dodge has discontinued the Grand Caravan model.
The driver's side door will no longer open, whether automatically or manually. You cannot manually unlock the door from the inside or open it from the inside, which poses a safety issue, in my opinion.
The lock actuator on the sliding door is stuck in the lock position and the other side is going out making a loud sound. Only 63k miles. If both go out how could a person who can’t walk get out? You could be trapped or get hurt getting out the trunk or front. Or what it is was stuck open?
Driver side sliding door will not open. Will not unlock either manually or with the keyfob or the unlock/lock within the car. This is a safety issue for my 3 kids in the back. Unable to use one exit jn case of emergency.
Three months ago my left passenger sliding door just stopped working. It can no longer be opened via keyfob or manually. I'm afraid to let my family ride in the back now for fear they'll be trapped due to this door or the other door failing. There are no warning lamps or anything activated and when I inquired about repair the dealer said it would be about 1500+ per door to replace the actuators and locking mechanism.
Drivers side sliding door locked after passenger entered vehicle. Door would not unlock both electrically and manually. Passengers needed to exit vehicle thru passenger side. What would the result have been if vehicle were in an accident? This could still happen. I called dealer and was informed this is a common problem. A Technical Service Bulletin has been issued, but is not a covered repair. Cost of repair is around $500 per door. TSB number is 23-017-20
Passenger side rear sliding door is stuck closed. I transport my grandchildren in this vehicle and this poses a SERIOUS safety hazard if involve in an accident or fire!
In January 2022,at approximately 75,000 miles, vehicle began to have a major oil leak and smell of oil in the cabin. A mechanic determined the oil filter housing had failed and it was replaced for $808.63.Mechanic also stated this is a very common issue with Dodge 3.6L engines. No warning lamps illuminated. Dodge customer service was contacted about the problem and stated there were no open recalls and would not reimburse me for the repairs.
The passenger sliding door power lock has failed, and will not operate. Yes it is available for inspection upon request. The lack of power locks on the passenger sliding door is a danger because it's supposed to lock automatically when you get up to speed to prevent accidental openings. Those back seats are also where young children in car seats are placed (it's a minivan, after all), and they can be unable to operate the door manually. In addition, I only recently noticed it would not lock, but I have no idea when it started failing, so having an unlocked door when you THINK it's locked is also dangerous. Yes, the problem has been reproduced. Yes, the vehicle has been inspected by a dealership. No, there were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms, and I do not know when it may have started. I only noticed it in January 2022, when one of my passengers (a child) was impatient to get into the car, and simply happened to start pulling on what we THOUGHT was a locked door. I hadn't unlocked the vehicle yet, so I checked, and, indeed, all the other doors were still locked. I eventually figured out the problem, that this door, the passenger sliding door, has a malfunctioning power lock.
The driver's side sliding door is stuck and locked. Unable to manually unlock nor use key fob nor use button above the rearview mirror. My children were unable to exit out that side and now fear it happening to the passenger side as well. Upon googling and reading many different websites it seems that this has been happening out of the blue for years and with MANY different years of this van. We were given no warnings, no noises, nothing to make us aware there could be a problem with the door.
Left sliding door is stuck. Unable to open inside and outside. Some times the smell of burned plastic. In state of emergency it is impossible to evacuate from the car.
Passenger rear sliding door will not open even manually
Drive side sliding door doesn't work,a safety problem if get in accident people could be trapped . Worked 2 days ago, Nothing will make it open Says need to unlock door but won't unlock, Carry my grand kids ,worry about get in crash an can't get them out .
MY HUSBAND PULLED INTO A PARKING SPACE. HE PLACED THE CARAVAN IN PARK AND LEFT IT RUNNING. I HAD TO RUN INTO THE RESTAURANT TO GRAB THE PIZZA. AFTER I HAD CLOSED THE PASSENGER DOOR THE HEADREST POPPED APART. I KNOW THAT IT IS A SAFETY FEATURE AND ONLY GOES OFF IF THERE IS AN IMPACT. THERE WERE ZERO IMPACTS OR ACCIDENTS. THERE WAS A PARKED CAR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE BUT NO ONE WAS IN IT.
Driver side passenger door will not open locked or not will not budge open.
Drivers side passenger door lock stuck in locked position. Door will not open automatically and can not be opened manually.
Rear sliding door actuator for the door lock seized causing the door to be permanently shut with no way to manually open it. This is a safety issue that should be addressed.
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that both the driver’s and passenger’s side sliding door locks would remain stuck in the locked position. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer to be inspected. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
Door lock actuator and latch failed rendering sliding doors in operable. In the even of a crash this can result in fatalities from not being able to exit the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that the rear passenger's sliding door would not open as needed. Additionally, the front driver's side window would not roll up as needed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for the passenger's side sliding door and diagnosed that the door actuator was positioned upside down. The vehicle was repaired, however, there was an abnormal buzzing sound coming from the passenger's side door. The vehicle was taken back to the mechanic, who diagnosed that the door actuator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was later taken to an independent mechanic for the front driver's side window and diagnosed with a faulty window regulator. The window regulator was replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in the X98 (Sliding Door Actuator) Extended Warranty. The manufacturer referred the contact to file a complaint with NHTSA. The failure mileage was 59,943.
Rear sliding door is stuck shut and will jot open with any power buttons nor manually. This poses a safety hazard should there be an emergency.
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that after driving to her residence and parking the vehicle, she attempted to unlock the rear passenger’s sliding doors however, the doors failed to unlock. The contact attempted to use the key fob as well as manually attempting to unlock the doors however, the doors failed to open. The contact stated that the rear seat passengers climbed into the front of the vehicle to exit the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.
I purchased the vehicle in February 2019 and within a year the passenger-side sliding door would not unlock and would not open. Through research, I learned it was the actuator that had gone out in the door. In November of 2021, the driver-side sliding door started making a grinding noise every time the doors were locked, indicating the actuator on that door was about to go out as well. Not having access to open the back doors of a minivan negates the benefits of driving a van, plus can cause a serious safety concern if individuals aren't able to exit the vehicle if needed.
The driver side passenger door is stuck on lock, it will not open from outside or inside or with the fob, this creates a safety issue for removing my children in case of an accident or being able to get to them in case of an emergency.
The sliding door drivers side has malfunctioned. Stuck in lock position. Cannot unlock or lock. The door is stuck closed. I’ve tried everything to try to open it. Will not open. Passengers cannot get out. I presume it’s the acutater that I cannot afford to get fixed. This is a safety issue.
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that the rear driver’s side sliding door would not open manually or electronically. Additionally, the door failed to lock securely. The contact took the vehicle to a local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the rod in the door was loose and needed to be replaced. The rod clips were replaced however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
Rear door makes a buzzing sound when door is unlocked. Door also does not seem to function properly when closing and opening.
The sliding door on the passenger side stopped working and will not open manually or with the buttons on the remote or the buttons in the car.
The passenger side electronic locks stopped working and will not allow the doors to open. Passengers could be trapped in car and unable to be removed from inside
Since I purchased my 2017 Dodge Caravan, a piece of the door panel came off while driving down the road. The rear air cuts in and out. The horn cuts in and out. The driver side sliding door will stick shut and not open and when it does open it makes a loud buzzing sound every time the door opens or locks. Now at 110,000 miles, the car not starting, then starting but acting like its about to die. Battery and alternator both tested good and we are being told it is probably a faulty computer system.
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that the driver's side rear sliding door would not unlock or open. The door lever was inoperable. The dealer was made aware of the failure and the contact was on his way to have the vehicle diagnosed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The manufacturer informed the contact to take the vehicle to a dealer for diagnosis. The failure mileage was approximately 64,000.
Our drivers side back sliding door lock mares a loud buzzing sound but doesn’t lock. This is a huge safety issue as my 3year child sits by that door and could potentially open the door. There has been no warning signs. Our van is only 4 years old it should be having expensive issues like this.
The Driver side sliding door does not open, and the passenger side sliding door does not lock. Both pose a danger in the event of an emergency or can cause an emergency when a passenger opens door in moving vehicle. The stow and go seats in second row do not always latch and can begin closing when a passenger is sitting on the seat.
The rear passenger driver side door of my 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan is stuck in the "locked" position. It will not open automatically when I press any of the buttons and I cannot manually open because it is stuck in the locked position. I called my Dodge dealer today, October 28th, and they said they would have to diagnose the problem and the earliest diagnostic appointment they have is December 7th! I told them it is a safety issue and I have kids that sit in the back and need to be able to get out in case of an emergency, so is there any way they can just get it "unstuck" so I can manually do it. I don't care if they can't get it to work automatically, but physically so we can open and close it. He said "no"! It sounds like an "actuator problem", but without diagnosing, there is nothing they can really do. So now I am stuck with what I consider a very unsafe vehicle and they're not too concerned about it. Is there anything you can do to help me with this problem?
While coming out of a curve I stepped on the throttle but the car didn’t respond. It acted like the transmission had failed. I then swerved to the shoulder so we wouldn’t be rear ended but a semi which was following us. I put the vehicle in park and turned it off. When I restarted the vehicle it wouldn’t come out of 1st gear. I have since had the vehicle inspected and was told the tans axle pump was bad which is a known recall for the previous 2 years. But can’t find out if the 2017 is part of the recall. The vehicle on has 88,000 miles on it so the transmission shouldn’t have any issue.
While driving the car will not shift through the gears. No warning lights came on and all fluids are at proper levels. Vehicle is making a whining noise.
The door lock actuator on the sliding drivers side door is making a loud buzzing sound when the doors are locked and unlocked. The door lock actuator on the passenger side sliding door has quit working.
Airbag light came on and will not go off. Two separate cases. P066DD code causes check engine light to come on from ti.e to time.
The right door electric lock actuator makes bussing noise when you unlock the door. This seems to be a common problem with many vans . I have 65000 Klms on the vehicle from my research it will cost around $600 to fix . I am concerned that eventually the lock will fail and compromise my vehicle. From what I have seen you need to take the door totally apart to get to the actuator. I find it very odd that all the vans have the same actuator go faulty passenger side
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Caravan. The contact stated that the rear driver’s and passenger’s side sliding doors would not unlock with the fob key or manually. The contact stated that the sliding doors appeared that the latches were stuck in locked position. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 64,760.
Driver side rear automatic sliding door will not unlock automatically or manually inside or outside the vehicle
the rear passenger side door will not unlock or open. upon searching for possible solutions, I found that this is not an uncommon issue. This is an issue as if there is an accident, the door will not unlock or open to evacuate.
We just bought a 2017 Grand Caravan from a dealer. The door makes a loud buzzing sound when you use the lock or try to open the door. After research, it seems to be the lock actuator and is happening to many people. If the locking mechanism is malfunctioning, that is a safety concern. Especially when you have children in the car often. The doors also stall and jam when opening and closing and get stuck. Since they aren't manual, but electric this causes a problem.
Engine/Transmission: Transmission was replaced by Manufacture. P/T Not shifting into gear properly. Hard shifting into gear. Slow start climbing incline in hills, speeds up drastically when the car is starting to decline, knocking noise. Dash lights, odometer, and warning lights come on and off without warning. The car has to be turned on and off to make the odometer, dash lights and warning lights rest and work. Safety: 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan will suddenly stop while driving at 65--70 mph in traffic without notice. The vehicle is unable to be physically moved out of the drive gear or any gear. The vehicle has been inspected by Doge dealership and found nothing wrong several times. Transmission light is on. No warning lamps, or messages to tell the driver the vehicle will suddenly stop at a high rate of speed or any speed. All of the gauges including lights will turn off without any warning while driving at any speed. There is a burning smell. Started from 2019 to present date.
Passenger front seat headrest deployed while vehicle was parked. No collision occurred to initiate this. I see this is a huge issue online with to s of caravan owners. This really should be recalled before someone gets really hurt if sitting in one of these seats and it occurs without reason!
The driver side rear sliding door does not open manually or by the buttons. The door is stuck closed and this is a huge safety issue. My 10 year old sits by this door and could be trapped inside. This is not ok.
My right slider door will not lock with the fob or manually leaving my car unlocked at all times. I have not taken the vehicle to the dealer yet as I just learned of this problem today. There was no indication or lights on before this problem occurred.
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that after having an oil change, the check engine warning light illuminated continuously. In addition, the rear passenger’s side door failed to open from the inside or outside of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the contact was informed that the vehicle needed a tune-up. The dealer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 78,400.
My rear driver side door stopped opening. One day (without any cause) the door would not open or unlock. When I turned off the electric sliding feature, the door would not open manually either. For about 7 months (beginning of 2021) the driver side sliding door has been inoperable. When I researched the problem, I saw that this is a common issue with the vehicle. It is unsafe. I have 4 children who are passengers in this minivan. My decision to purchase this vehicle was based solely on the fact that I needed to transport children. In the event that we are in a collision, I'm afraid I will not be able to get to my children from that entire side of the vehicle. Due to the safety features of back seat windows that do not go down all the way, children would also not be able to escape the vehicle this way. There were no warning lights or signs about this issue. I would give permission for this vehicle's door to be inspected regarding this problem. I have not yet gotten a quote from a dealership to fix the problem, but I have read many other consumer quotes online. This should not be my expense to bear.
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle lost motive power and electrical functions. The vehicle was able to be restarted and functionality was restored. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 11V139000 (Electrical System) however, the Vin was not included. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was informed of failure and confirmed that the Vin was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 58,667.
When car is stopped, turn off key, open door then I hear a loud BUZZ. Only lasts a second or so. But believe it has to do with the POWER LOCKS. I see many complaints online like this
The Contact owns a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that the passenger’s side rear door failed to unlatch while using the key fob. Additionally, the contact was unable to unlatch the door manually from the inside or the outside. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was not available.
Driver side sliding door stuck in lock position. Will not open manually or with fob. Can not open door lock from inside. There were no signs this issue was going to happen. One day it works, next day it doesn’t. From what I’ve seen, this is an on going problem which needs to be addressed. This can be a huge safety problem in a accident.
Drivers side rear sliding door will not open. Completely stuck shut and will not unlock manually or electronically. My child was stuck inside until I could open the other door.
Both sliding door locks on my Dodge Caravan are not working. The driver’s sliding door will not lock with the key fob or with the button inside the car. On the passanger’s sliding door side, the door is stuck in the unlocked position. The key fob or the button inside the car will not unlock it. Also, it I manually lock the drivers side sliding door, it will not unlock with the key fob or inside button. This is dangerous Bc I’m driving around in an unlocked car. Also I’m leaving my car unlocked. I have 4 young children. I have seen many, many complaints of this online. It is a common issue with the 2017 Dodge Caravan. I have called Dodge and they did not deny that they knew about this. I got a quote from the dodge dealership. The lock actuators need to be replaced. I have the quote and it’s $1,800 to fix. This should be recalled!
The vehicle passage side sliding door will not open. I called the dealer and they said about $3000 dollars to repair the problem with the door. If there is a accident it will slow for the person the passage side to get out of the vehicle. Before the warranty ran out I had the car in the shop twice about the door slowly opening.
Passenger side sliding door actuator stopped working and is stuck in the locked position preventing opening of the door from the outside or inside or with the key fob. Door will not open at all which is a huge safety risk in case of emergencies and someone needs to get inside or out of the vehicle quickly. No inspection has been done except by me though I have seen hundreds of others complaining of the same issue with this make and model. No warnings or messages for this either. This needs to be a recall fix for obvious safety reasons.
Rear driver's side sliding door will not open. It is stuck in the locked position. Research shows this is a common problem with the 2017 and other years of Dodge Grand Caravan. This is a safety issue for anyone sitting in that rear passenger seat, as that door will not open from the inside. In the event of an accident blocking the rear passenger side door, anyone in the rear would have to climb up to the front to exit. There is no check engine light. I have not yet taken it to a dealer, because it is not warranty work and I cannot afford to have it fixed.
Driver’s side sliding door is stuck shut and will not unlock with key FOB, the unlock buttons on the passenger and driver side doors, and also will not unlock manually. Tried opening the door with automatically with key FOB button, the button located by the rearview mirror, and also opening it manually from the inside and outside, but door does not open. It was functioning properly the day before, and there were no warning signs ahead of time that there was going to be an issue with the locking mechanism. Safety concern since this could potentially happen to the other sliding door, and if in an emergency back passengers have no immediate access to an exit.
The rear sliding door on the driver side is stuck in the locked position and cannot be opened either manually or electronically.
There is a loud buzzing sound coming from the passenger sliding door whenever the vehicle is locked or unlocked. Door actuator is failing.
I have a 2017 vehicle with approximately 75,000 miles. The cylinder head on cylinder 2 is faulty and needs to be replaced. This is approximately a $3000 fix that is being repaired right now. My mechanic told me that this part and/or previous generations of this vehicle have been recalled due to faulty parts. They also encouraged me to file this complaint.
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated while attempting to enter the vehicle, the driver’s side sliding door failed to unlock and open electronically. The contact attempted to manually unlock the door but the door failed to open. The local dealer was contacted and informed the contact that there would be an out-of-pocket cost to repair the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacture was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that a bolt connected to the front passenger seat had come loose causing the seat belt to become detached from the front passenger seat. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 54,000.
I was sitting in my van, with it running at Sonic, and i started smelling a terrible smell. I thought the smell was coming form outside so I rolled up the windows and the van started filling up with smoke. My daughter looked at the back seat and noticed the back charger, USB, 12 volt area was the source of smoke and we got out immediately, saw that it was on fire from the inside, it could be seen through the charger, the usb ports, and the 12 volt plug because there was nothing plugged in. My daughter threw a pop on it to put it out and we called my husband to come help us. He pulled the cover off and all of the wires were melted all of the way down the inside of the panel. I have seen recalls for previous year models for this same type of occurrence, but not for this year model. I am thankful my other children and grandson were not in the car in the backseats where the fire started. This area is on the gas tank side as well and that was a scary thought as i was supposed to travel tomorrow in this van.
The drivers side rear passenger sliding door is stuck in lock mode. The locking mechanism is stuck shut and cannot be unlocked either manually or with the remote unlock button. Therefore the door is stuck closed and can not open. It’s dangerous that any backseat passenger cannot exit the vehicle through that door if they need to. Also, the passenger side door does not lock or unlock with the remote; it only locks and unlocks when the locking mechanism on the door is pushed manually. When the alarm is turned on with the remote, pulling this door open manually sets off the alarm when the door is pulled open. There were no warning lights or indicators set off prior to these issues. These issues manifested in September 2020.
DRIVERS SIDE PASSANGER DOOR IS STUCK IN THE LOCK POSITION AND WON'T OPEN OR UNLOCK
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR FAILED TO UNLOCK AS NEEDED. THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CORONET DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM FIAT (3705 FRONTAGE RD, PERU, IL 61354, (844) 801-3239) AND THE DEALER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 97,000.
THE ENGINE STOPS FOR NO REASON AND DOES NOT SHOW A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THE ENGINE CAN BE RE-STARTED, BUT CAN THEN STOP AGAIN FOR NO REASON. WE HAVE HAD THE TRANSMISSION WORKED ON, BUT THERE ARE STILL ISSUES.
THE DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR WILL NOT UNLOCK TO OPEN. I HAVE PAID 725 AT A MECHANIC FOR AN ACTUATOR AND LABOR, WHEN I GOT HOME THE DOOR STILL DODNT OPEN. I TOOK IT TO AN AUTO BODY SHOP AND PAID $89.00 FOR IT TO OPEN ONCE AFTER GREASED THEN IT JAMMED AGAIN. TOOK IT BACK TO AUTO BODY SHOP AFTER 4 HOURS OF LABOR TURNS OUT TO BE AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE. THE PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR IS STARTING TO JAM AS WELL.. BODY SHOP SAID VERY SOON IT WILL CLOSE AND NOT OPEN AS WELL.THAT'S WHERE I'M AT NOW. . NOT SURE IF I WANT.TO PAY FOR AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE. I'VE PAID ENOUGH TO COME THIS FAR. SO MAYBE THIS WILL SAVE SOMEONE ELSE THE STEPS.
I WAS TRAVELING WITH MY FAMILY OF 4, BACK FROM A VACATION. TRAVELING AT ABOUT 65 MPH WITH TRAFFIC ON WET INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. 2 LANE HIGHWAY TRANSITIONED FROM BLACK TOP TO A CONCRETE BRIDGE, SLIGHT BUMP. WE HEARD A LOUD CRACK AND THUD, AND THE REAR OF VEHICLE BEGAN TO GO SIDEWAYS, AS I FOUGHT FOR CONTROL. BRAKING CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO FURTHER BECOME UNSTABLE UNTIL I REDUCED SPEED AND SLOWLY PULLED OFF THE BUSY ROAD AND FOUND THE DAMAGE. THE LEFT SIDE CONTROL ARM OF THE BEAM AXEL ASSEMBLY CRACKED AND THE SUSPENSION ON THE LEFT SIDE WAS ONLY ATTACHED VIA THE SHOCK AND COIL SPRING. WE SLOWLY EXITED THE HIGHWAY AND LIMPED TO A GAS STATION TO PARK AND CALL FOR A LONG DISTANCE TOW TO MY SERVICING DEALER BY MY HOME 135 MILES AWAY. WE NEEDED AN UBER AND A RENTAL CAR TO GET BACK HOME. VAN IS CURRENTLY PARKED AT MY DEALER, AWAITING FOR A TECHNICIAN TO GET IT LOOKED AT AS OF 4/12/2021
THE DRIVE SIDE SLIDING DOOR THE DOOR WON'T UNLOCK.
THE DRIVERS SIDE PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR IS STUCK IN THE LOCK POSITION. I CAN NOT MANUALLY UNLOCK IT, IT WILL NOT UNLOCK WITH MY KEY FOB OR THE BUTTONS ON THE INTERIOR. THE DOOR IS STUCK CLOSED AND LOCKED.
THE REAR SLIDING DOORS OPENED, I LOADED MY CHILD AND GEAR INTO THE VAN. WHEN WE REACHED OUR DESTINATION, THE DIES WOULD NOT UNLOCK OR OPEN, TRAPPING HER IN THE CAR. WE HAD TO HAVE HER CLIMB INTO THE PASSENGER SEAT AND EXIT THAT WAY. THE VAN WAS PARKED, ENGINE OFF.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SLIDING DOOR FAILED TO OPEN FROM INSIDE OR OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 77,724.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT UPON INSPECTION, OIL WAS FOUND ON THE FLOOR OF THE GARAGE THAT HAD LEAKED FROM THE ENGINE. THE LOCAL DEALER TELEGRAPH CHRYSLER LOCATED AT 12000 TELEGRAPH RD, TAYLOR, MI 48180 WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE OIL HOUSING ASSEMBLY HAD FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED HOWEVER, THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.
OIL FILTER ADAPTER/OIL COOLER. WHILE GETTING THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED THAT HAD A TOTAL FAILURE AT 110,000 MILES WHILE ENROUTE TO GET THE RECOMMENDED 120,000 MILE SERVICE, THE DEALER INFORMED US THAT THE OIL COOLER HAD A DECENT SIZED CRACK NEAR THE BASE AND REQUIRED REPLACING. THEY TOLD US THE COULD ORDER THE PART BUT WOULDN'T KNOW WHEN IT WOULD BE IN BECAUSE THERE WERE 14,772 UNITS ON BACK ORDER. HE SEARCHED THE SYSTEM AND FOUND 1 AVAILABLE 2 HOURS AWAY. I LEFT THE DEALER AND DRIVE STRAIGHT THERE AND IT TOO WAS GONE WITH NO PROJECTED ARRIVAL OF MORE. I WAS TOLD IF I KEPT THE OIL TOPPED UP AND KEPT AN EYE ON IT, IT WOULD BE OK AND NOT CAUSE ENGINE DAMAGE. I HAVE NOT SPENT ENOUGH ON OIL TO KEEP IT TOPPED UP THAT I COULD HAVE PAID FOR THE PART OF IT WE'RE AVAILABLE. ONLINE AFTERMARKET SOURCES ARE SOLD OUT WITH NO IDEA WHEN THEY'LL GET MORE. AS OF 09:30, 15 MARCH 2021, THE PARTS DEPARTMENT OF LANDERS CDJR IN BOSSIER CITY, LOUISIANA CONFIRMED THAT THERE ARE NOW OVER 15,000 UNITS ON BACK ORDER AND WHEN REQUESTING TO ORDER, THEY DON'T EVEN HAVE AN ESTIMATED WAIT TIME. WENT DIRECT WITH DODGE AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD 'ESCALATE THE REVIEW TO TRY AND GET THE PART TO THE DEALER'. NOT SURE HOW THAT WILL HAPPEN WHEN THEY DON'T HAVE A SUPPLY TO MEET THE DEMAND. EACH DEALER I'VE CALLED IN A 6 HOUR RADIUS FROM MY LOCATION HAS SAID IT SHOULD BE A RECALL WITH IT BEING SUCH A FAULTY DESIGN OF PLASTIC RESTING DIRECTLY ON TOP OF THE MOTOR BUT THAT FIAT WON'T DO THAT. MY BIGGEST CONCERN IS THE OIL LEAKING DOWN, SPRAYS ON TO THE EXHAUST CREATING THE POTENTIAL FOR A FIRE HAZARD.
VEHICLE MAKES LOUD WINDING NOISE WHEN ACCELERATING.
I'VE HAD THE VEHICLE SINCE LITERALLY 1 YEAR 6 MONTHS AGO THE PASSENGER REAR DOOR STOPPED LOCKING/UNLOCKING I SEARCHED FOR ANSWERS ONLINE AND FOUND FORUMS WITH THIS DOOR ACTUATOR ISSUE I SEE IT AS A HAZARD BECAUSE DUE BELOW AVERAGE USE IT WENT OUT WHAT IF THE OTHER 1 GOES OUT THEN I LOSE ACCESS TO THE REAR OF MY VEHICLE IN AN EMERGENCY OR ANYTHING MOST PEOPLE SAYS IT'S AT LEAST $650 FIX WHICH IS 2 MONTHS WORTH OF CAR PAYMENTS I CAN'T AFFORD
TRANSMISSION STARTED SLIPPING AT 85000 MILES NOW ON THE DATE OF 02-27-2021 I'M SITTING BROKE DOWN BECAUSE MY VEHICLE WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF 1ST GEAR. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 86,858 MILES
DRIVERS SIDE SLIDING DOOR IS STUCK IN THE LOCK POSITION AND WILL NOT OPEN
OIL HOUSING UNIT FAILED AT 72,000 MILES. DODGE STATED IT SHOULD BE A RECALL, THEY CAN'T EVEN KEEP UP WITH THE PARTS TO REPLACE IT WHEN IT FAILS. THEY TOLD ME TO USE AN AFTER MARKET PART THAT WOULD FAIL BUT IT WOULD AT LEAST GET THE CAR BACK IN MY POSSESSION.
VAN ENGINE STOPS PERIODICALLY IF THERE IS AN ABRUPT/PANIC STOP. ON A FAST STOP, THE ENGINE RPM IS ERRATIC, AND SOMETIMES FEELS LIKE IT IS GOING TO STOP. PUTTING THE VAN IN PARK OR NEUTRAL, AND YOU CAN START THE ENGINE AGAIN. SO FAR, THIS HAS ONLY HAPPENED IN CITY DRIVING.
THE DRIVER'S SIDE SLIDING DOOR BECAME STUCK IN THE LOCK POSITION. IT WILL NOT UNLOCK MANUALLY OR ELECTRICALLY WITH THE POWER LOCK BUTTON OR KEY FOB. THE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN AT ALL.
EVERYTIME I UNLOCK THE DOOR OR OPEN THE DOOR (SLIDING LEFT PASSENGER DOOR IN THE BACKSEAT) IT MAKES A LOUD BUZZING NOISE. IT SEEMS TO BE GETTING LOUDER AND LOUDER AND IS SO LOUD IT IS A DISTRACTION AND CAN BE HEARD FROM OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE.
IN DEC, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE CAR WOULD DO LIKE GOING OVER SPEED TACKS, SHAKE, WHEN IT WAS BETWEEN 45 TO 60 MPH. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP FOR READING, THEY COULDN'T GET A GOOD READING, IT STOPPED. THEN I PAID EXTRA FOR THEM TO TAKE TRANSMISSION PAN OFF. TOLD I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION. THIS VEHICLE IS A 2017. THIS WAS DEC 2020. HAD TRANSMISSION DONE. ABOUT 3 WEEKS LATER, ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. WHEN I CAME BACK , 180 MILES TO VISIT FAMILY, I HAD IT LOOKED AT AGAIN. SHOWING 6 COIL, MISFIRE. THE CAR HAD 85000 MILES. HAD THE 6 COIL REPLACED, ALL PLUGS AND WIRES. LEFT, DROVE 180 MILES , NEXT DAY LIGHT CAME ON. I WASN'T DRIVING THE CAR MUCH AND WAS COMING BACK , ENGINE LIGHT ON, CAR RAN FIND. NEXT DAY, WAS AT A RED LIGHT, GAVE GAS AND THE CAR SPUTTER LIKE IT WASN'T GETTING GAS AND WANTED TO DIED. I PUSH ON THE GAS PADDLE AND HURRIED TO GET TO MY DAD'S. HAD A READING SAYING IT WAS CATALYTIC CONVERTED. AFTER THE WEEKEND I TOOK IT TO MUFFLER SHOP. SAID IT WASN'T GIVING THEM THAT READING, BUT MISFIRE AND 6 COIL. TOOK TO A MECHANIC, HE REPLACE 6 COIL AND SAID PLUGS WHERE GOOD, THAT THEY WERE NEW. BUT, I DID NEED AN AIR FILTER. GOT CAR. FEW HOURS LATER, ENGINE LIGHT WAS BACK ON. READING SHOWED COIL AND MISFIRE. GOING BACK TO MECHANIC, AGAIN. AFTER A RED LIGHT STOP, IT FELT LIKE IT WAS GOING TO DIED AS IF IT WASN'T GETTING GAS. I GAVE IT MORE GAS. THEY CHANGE EVERYTHING AGAIN, EVEN CROSS PARTS TO MAKE SURE. IT IDLES HARD IN PARK OR SITTING IN DRIVE. MORE GAS IT SEEMS TO DO OK. ALSO, ABOUT 6 MONTHS AFTER BUYING IT, HAD TO REPLACE BATTERY. 2013 WAS IN IT. SO, MUCH FOR WANTING TO RETIRE, THIS CAR HAS PUT ME INTO DEBT. I WISH I HAD STAYED WITH A TOYOTA. OWN 6 AND NEVER , COST ME MORE THAN REGULAR SERVICE. AND AGAIN, MISFIRE READING, COIL 6. WITHIN A MONTH ,TWICE ITS BEEN REPLACED AND PLUGS AND STILL BACK LIKE IT WAS. SINCE END OF DEC, BEEN IN SHOP 4 XS, SAME READING,SAME CRAP.
I GOT THE VEHICLE YESTERDAY AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON SO THE DEALER DO A OBD 2 SCAN AND IT SHOW A MISS FIRE IN THE NUMBER 2 CINDERS SO WE WAS THINK IT JUST NEED SPARK PLUGS SO I TOOK IT TO DODGE AND HAD NEW SPARK PLUGS PUT ON AND IT DID NOTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM SO THEY SUGGESTED IT WAS THE FUEL INJECTER FOR THE NUMBER 2 CINDERS SO I HAD THEM REPLACED IT AND THAT DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM SO THEY CAME BACK TO TOLD ME THEY THINK IT IS THE HEADS IN THE VAN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON AND I ONLY FEEL THE MISS FIRE WHEN I AM IDLING NO OTHER TIME THE GUY AT DODGE SAID THEY RUN INTO THIS ALOT WITH THIS YEAR AND OTHERS I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH AND FIND ALOT OF PEOPLE R HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM I AM STARTING TO THINK IS COULD BE A MANUFACTURING PROBLEM TOMORROW I AM TAKING THE VAN SOMEWHERE ELSE TO HAVE A SECOND OPINION DONE
OIL FILTER HOUSING UNIT FAILS BECAUSE OF OVER TIGHTENING DONE BY PERSON THAT IS DOING THE OIL CHANGE. DODGE PERSONNEL TOLD ME DIRECTLY THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL BECAUSE THE PART IS DEFECTIVE BUT DODGE REFUSES TO DO IT. PART ISN'T EVEN IN STOCK BECAUSE THEY CAN'T KEEP UP WITH THE DEMAND TO REPLACE THEM.
83000 MILES AND TORQUE CONVERTER IS GOING OUT I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY TRANSMISSION GUY COMMON ISSUE WILL REQUIRE A REBUILD DUE TO PARTICLES INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION. THEY ARE REPAIRING 2-3 A WEEK WITH THIS ISSUE , AND I LIVE IN SMALL TOWN,.WITH AS FEW AS 70000 MILES UP TO 120000 MILES ON REPAIRED VANS . THIS HAPPENED ON MY WAY HOME ON MAIN ROAD DRIVING UP HILL ON ALMOST DIDN'T MAKE IT TO TOP.
CYLINDER 2 MISFIRE DUE TO BROKEN CYLINDER HEAD. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM FROM CHRYSLER/DODGE AND HAS BEEN FOR YEARS. THE PROBLEM WAS CAUSED FROM A FAULTY MOLD USED TO CAST THE ENGINE WHEN THEY WERE MANUFACTURED. MY CAR IS ONLY 4 YEARS OLD WITH 71K MILES, CLEAN TITLE AND THIS REPAIR IS ESTIMATED TO COST $3200.
2017 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN DRIVER SIDE DOOR JUST STOPPED OPERATING. CANNOT OPEN WITH KEY FOB OR MANUALLY INSIDE OR OUT. THIS POSES A SAFETY CONCERN AS YOU CANNOT GET IN OR OUR OF VEHICLE ON THAT SIDE IN THE BACK SEATS. THIS HAPPENED ALL OF A SUDDEN. JUST STOPPED WORKING AS SITTING IN DRIVEWAY.
THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON MY CAR'S FRONT SEAT ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINTS. I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FIAT CHRYSLER AUTOMOBILES (FAC) STATING THAT MY FRONT SEAT ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINTS MAY INADVERTENTLY DEPLOY. FAC OFFERED ME AN EXTENDED 10 YEAR WARRANTY. I CONSIDER THEIR OFFER OF A 10 YEAR WARRANTY TO BE NEGLIGENT. THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL. I CONSIDER IT SERIOUS THAT I COULD BE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND GET BUMPED IN THE HEAD BY MY ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINT.
FOR NO REASON MY RIGHT SLIDING DOOR STARTED MAKING A BUZZING SOUND WHEN UNLOCKING IT. SO, NOW EVERY TIME I OPEN OR UNLOCK THE DOOR I HEAR THIS VERY LOUD BUZZING SOUND. I HAVE READ THAT THIS IS VERY COMMON WITH DODGE GRAND CARAVANS. VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND HAS NEVER BEEN HIT IN THE SIDE. THIS STARTED IN THE FALL OF 2020 WHILE IN MY DRIVEWAY.
I HAVE A 2017 DODGE CARAVAN ABOUT A YEAR AFTER I BOUGHT IT MY HAZARD LIGHTS STARTED ACTIVATING WHEN MY MIDDLE SLIDING DOORS WOULD OPEN. I THOUGHT IT WAS A GREAT SAFETY FEATURE, WHILE BEING CONFUSED WHY IT HAD JUST STARTED HAPPENING 1 DAY. THEN A FEW MONTHS LATER MY LOCKS WOULD AND STILL MAKE A DISTRACTING BUZZING SOUND WHEN THE DOORS GET LOCKED OR UNLOCKED. IS THERE A SAFETY RECALL ON ANY OF THESE ISSUES?
I RECENTLY PURCHASED A USED 2017 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN IN NOV 2020. I WENT IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND WAS INFORMED OF A SMALL OIL LEAK. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THE OIL FILTER ADAPTER HOUSING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THEY ARE UNABLE TO GET THE PART AT THIS TIME SAID THEY ARE NOT SURE WHEN IT WILL COME IN. MEANWHILE I AM DRIVING IN A VAN THAT IS STILL LEAKING AND TOLD JUST TO CHECK IT WEEKLY AND TO IT OFF IN THE MEANTIME. I'M NOT SURE IF YOU CAN HELP OUT IF I SHOULD DIRECT THIS TO YOU OR SOMEONE ELSE. I SAW THIS INFO ON NHTSA.GOV. ANY GUIDANCE HOW TO REPORT THIS ISSUE WOULD HELP. I HAVE SEEN VIDEOS THAT SAY THIS USUALLY OCCURS IF SOMEONE TORQUES THE FILTER TO TIGHT. THIS IS THE FIRST OIL CHANGE SINCE I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE AND THE LAST PAGE THAT DID THE OIL CHANGE WAS THE DEALERSHIP IN OCT 2020. I'M SO FRUSTRATED RIGHT NOW BECAUSE THE WARRANTY THE DEALERSHIP SOLD ME DOESN'T COVER THIS ISSUE. I DON'T KNOW WHEN IT WILL EVEN BE RESOLVED. I DON'T WANT TO RISK THE LEAK GETTING WORSE AND I DON'T CATCH IT OR MY VAN CATCHING ON FIRE. PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN.
THE RPM IS INESTABLE, THE TRANSMISSION HARD SHIFT, COOLANT SISTEM OF ENGINE HAVE PROBLEM
I OWN A 2017 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN GT AND MY REAR SLIDING DRIVER SIDE DOOR JUST STOPPED WORKING FOR NO REASON. IT IS LOCKED IN POSITION AND THE DOOR WON'T OPEN. I GOT IN THE VEHICLE ONE MORNING AND WHILE WARMING IT UP I WENT TO OPEN THE DOOR AND IT JUST WOULD NOT OPEN. SO I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT I PURCHASED THE VAN AT AND THEY CHECKED IT OUT AND TOLD ME THAT THE LEFT SIDE SLIDING DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR IS BROKEN.
DRIVER'S SIDE REAR SLIDING DOOR WON'T OPEN. IT IS STUCK IN PLACE. THE LOCK WON'T LOCK OR UNLOCK. IT WAS WORKING ONE DAY AND THEN THE NEXT IT STOPPED. NOTHING IS BLOCKING ITS PATH.
COULD MEAN THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LIFE AND DEATH. 2017 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN DRIVER'S SIDE SLIDING DOOR WILL NOT UNLOCK. THIS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IT PREVENTS THE PASSENGERS IN THE BACK FROM EXITING QUICKLY IN CASE OF EMERGENCY. IN THE CASE OF PARENTS WITH CHILDREN IN CAR SEATS THEY ARE UNABLE TO GET THE CHILD OUT SAFELY.
PASSENGER SIDE DOOR WILL NOT UNLOCK AND IS STUCK I LOCK MODE. I CANNOT OPEN THE DOOR.
MY WIFE HIT A DEER GOING 70 MPH DRIVING NORTHBOUND ON I65 RIGHT AFTER CROSSING THE TENN. STATE LINE. THE DEER HIT THE FRONT CENTER AND PASSENGER FRONT OF THE VAN AND THE AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. THE AIRBAG LIGHTS CAME ON AND STAYED ON BUT THE AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. THE FENDER MOLDING WAS RIPPED APART, RADIATOR WAS PUSHED INTO THE THE ENGINE BLOCK, PASSENGER LIGHT WAS DEMOLISHED AND PUSHED IN TO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, ALL THE ELECTRIC WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON EXCEPT THE ENGINE LIGHT AND THE FENDER WELL WAS PUSHED BACK 1/4 INCH AND IN 1 INCH INTO THE PASSENGER DOOR. A RED LIGHTNING BOLT CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE STOPPED RUNNING. TOW TRUCK CAME AND THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE OUT OF PARK.
OUR 2017 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN GT SUFFERED A TORQUE CONVERTER FAILURE AT 63,095 MILES WHILE DRIVING IN GEAR AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, CREATING A WHINING SOUND WHILE MOVING UNTIL WE WERE ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO A STOP, AND THEN SHUDDERING AND REVVING HIGH WITHOUT POWER WHILE WE MOVED IT BRIEFLY TO A SAFE LOCATION TO PARK IT FOR TOWING. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO A DEALER BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION WAS INOPERATIVE. UPON DIAGNOSIS, DODGE DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED TORQUE CONVERTOR HAD FAILED AND THAT THE MATERIAL FROM THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE DISASSEMBLED AND OVERHAULED TO REMOVE THE MATERIAL FROM THE TRANSMISSION. WE WERE VERY FORTUNATE TO HAVE BEEN TRAVELING AT A LOW SPEED AND NEAR A PARKING LOT THAT WE COULD PULL OF INTO AND IMMEDIATELY STOP THE VEHICLE, AS I HAD MY WIFE AND TWO CHILDREN IN THE CAR. DODGE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY EXTENDS TO 60,000 MILES AND DOES NOT COVER THIS REPAIR UNDER A WARRANTY REPAIR (3,095 MILES OUT OF WARRANTY).
DRIVER SIDE DOOR DOES NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK WITH BUTTON INSIDE OR BUTTON ON KEY FOB
REAR POWER SLIDING DOOR STUCK CLOSED. THE REAR POWER SLIDING DOOR APPEARS TO HAVE NO MANUAL METHOD OF OPENING. WHEN ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS FAIL THE PASSENGERS HAVE NO WAY OF FORCING OPEN. THE DEALERSHIP HAD THE VEHICLE FOR 2 DAYS BEFORE BEING ABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR.
MY PROBLEM WITH MY CAR IS THAT THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER AIRBAGS EXPLODED WITHOUT HAVING A CAR OR A CAR THAT CRASHED ME I WAS DRIVING MY NORMAL CAR AND SUDDENLY THE AIR BAGS EXPLODED. AND THE MOST UNBELIEVABLE THING IS THAT IT IS A FACTORY FAULT BECAUSE THE DAY THE AIRBAGS EXPLODED THEY EXPLODED I HAD NO PASSENGER NEXT TO ME AND THE PASSENGER AIRBAG AND SEAT BELTS ALL DAMAGED AND MY PASSENGER WINDOW IS ALL BROKEN. I HAVE ALREADY CALLED THE DODGE DEPARTMENT AND THEY DO NOT GIVE ME ANY RESULTS SINCE AN IMPECTOR FROM THE DODGE COMPANY ALREADY WENT TO SEE MY CAR AND HE SAID THAT IT IS A FACTORY FAULT AND I DON'T KNOW WHY THEY CAN'T HELP ME WITH THIS FAULT I MAKE MY CAR AND I CAN'T DRIVE IT AND I'M PAYING FOR THE CAR AND I KEEP LOSING MY MONEY WITHOUT USING MY CAR PLEASE HELP ME PLEASE
VEHICLE HAD PRIOR ISSUES OF STALLING WHEN STOPPED IN TRAFFIC WHICH RESULTED IN TRANSMISSION BEING REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. SEVERAL MONTHS AFTER TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT TURN ON AT ALL AFTER JUST HAVING DRIVEN THE VEHICLE 30 MINUTES PRIOR. BOTH THE BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR HAD TO BE REPLACED. VEHICLE IS 3 YEARS OLD AND HAS JUST UNDER 60,000 MILES.
LOUD BUZZING NOISE WHEN LOCKING AND UNLOCKING REAR PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR. YOU HEAR THE NOISE 100% OF THE TIME WHEN DEPRESSING THE ELECTRIC DOOR LOCK BUTTON, EITHER TO LOCK OR UNLOCK.
DOORS WON'T OPEN OR UNLOCK WITH KEY FOB, ROOF PANEL BUTTONS OR MANUALLY. THIS HAPPENS RANDOMLY. BACK SLIDING DOORS WILL ALSO RANDOMLY OPEN WHEN VAN IS PARKED AND TURNED OFF.
DRIVER'S SIDE PASSENGER DOOR LOCKING MECHANISM BUZZES WHEN LOCKING. IT MUST BE MANUALLY UNLOCKED TO OPEN DOOR.
COOLING SYSTEM STOPPED WORKING, FREON WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY, REFILLED THEN EMPTY AGAIN THE NEXT DAY. RUNNING DEFROST OR HEAT MAKES THE CAR SMELL LIKE ELECTRIC FIRE.
SLIDING DOOR ON SIDE GOT STUCK AND IS STUCK IN THE LOCK POSITION AND WON'T OPEN MANUALLY OR ELECTRONICALLY OR BY BUTTON. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY.
THE ACTUATOR ON THE SLIDING BACK DOOR HAS STOPPED WORKING PROPERLY. THE DOOR WILL NOT UNLOCK OR OPEN, CAUSING A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. THIS COULD POTENTIALLY TRAP ME OR MY FAMILY IN THE CAR DURING A FIRE OR WRECK. UPON RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE, IT IS A COMMON ISSUE FOR DOGE CARAVANS, YET DODGE REFUSES TO RECALL THESE FAULTY ACTUATORS. THE REPAIR RUNS UPWARDS OF $1000 TO $1500, NOT SOMETHING MANY PEOPLE CAN AFFORD. NOT ONLY THAT, BUT CONSUMERS SHOULDNT HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS SINCE DODGE IS KNOWINGLY INSTALLING FAULTY ACTUATORS. THIS COULD CAUSE SOMEONE'S DEATH IF THEY ARE UNABLE TO GET OUT OF THEIR CAR DURING AN EMERGENCY. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT IT.
ARRIVING HOME FROM A DR. APPOINTMENT THE DOOR DIRECTLY BEHIND THE PASSENGER SEAT QUICK WORKING COMPLETELY. THERE WAS/IS ABSOLUTELY NO WAY OF OPENING THIS DOOR. THE PASSENGER IN THAT SEAT WAS A 92 YEAR OLD MAN WHO HAD EXTREME DIFFICULTY EXITING IN AN ALTERNATIVE MANNER THROUGH THE DOOR BEHIND THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. FORTUNATELY IT ONLY CAUSED HIM PAIN AND DISCOMFORT FOR A FEW DAYS. THIS PRESENTS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD IN THE EVENT OF AND ACCIDENT / FIRE AND THE OCCUPANT IS UNABLE TO ESCAPE. PLEASE RECALL ALL VEHICLES WITH THIS ISSUE.
DRIVERS SIDE SLIDING DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM INSIDE OR OUTSIDE EITHER MANUALLY, BY KEY FOB, OR INSIDE BUTTONS.
DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR IS STUCK IN THE LOCKED POSITION.SUDDENLY STOPPED RESPONDING T TO THE THE KEY FOB OR THE CONTROL INSIDE OF THE VAN. IT CANNOT BE OPENED MANUALLY EITHER. FIRST NOTED IN LATE JUNE OF 2020
EACH AND EVERY TIME MY VEHICLE IS LOCKED OR UNLOCKED IT MAKES A HIGH PITCHED BUZZING SOUND. THIS ALSO OCCURS WHEN DOORS ARE OPENED AFTER THE DOORS HAVE BEEN LOCKED AS PART OF THE AUTOMATIC SECURITY WHEN IT HAS BEEN OPERATED OR WHEN THEY WERE LOCKED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY THE WHOLE TIME.
THE TEMP CONTROL PANEL TURNED ON BY ITSELF, I CAN SHUT IT OFF AND IT WILL COME BACK ON. I CAN TURN IT DOWN AND IT WILL TURN THE FAN ON FULL POWER AGAIN AUTOMATICALLY. I HAVE A 3 MINUTE VIDEO OF IT HAPPENING ALL ON ITS OWN.
PASSANGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR LOCK IS STUCK IN THE LOCKED POSOTION. IT WILL NOT UNLOCK MANUELLY, KEY FOB OR USING THE UNLOCK BUTTONS IN HT FRONT OF THE VAN.
MY VAN SHUT OFF FOR NO APPARENT REASON . I COULDN'T STEER IT AND THE BRAKES WOULDN'T WORK . TRIED TO TURN IT BACK ON AND IT DID . I HAVE A BRAND NEW BATTERY ON THERE .
DOOR STUCK IN LOCKED POSITION, 78000 MILES. CAN NOT MANUALLY UNLOCK OR UNLOCK WITH AUTOMATIC OPENER.
THE DRIVERS SIDE SLIDING DOOR ACTUATOR HAS STUCK IN THE LOCKED POSITION. I AM UNABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR, AND IF THERE WAS AN ACCIDENT OR FIRE, I WOULD HAVE TO GO AROUND TO THE OTHER SIDE TO GET MY INFANT OUT OF HER CAR SEAT.*DT
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY,, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON ALONG WITH THE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHT. ALSO, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT COME OUT OF THE PARK POSITION AND THE BRAKE PEDAL COULD NOT BE USED TO CANCEL THE CRUISE CONTROL. WHEN THIS WAS INVESTIGATED IT WAS FOUND THE BRAKE SWITCH/CIRCUIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.
PASSENGER SIDE REAR SLIDING DOOR WOULD NOT LOCK. HAD TO GET A NEW ACTUATOR. ONE MONTH LATER, THE DRIVER SIDE REAR SLIDING DOOR WAS STUCK IN THE LOCK POSITION. OFF TO GET ANOTHER NEW ACTUATOR.
MY DRIVER'S SIDE REAR DOOR IS STUCK IN THE LOCK POSITION. I CAN'T UN LOCK IT MANUALLY, I CAN'T UN LOCK IT WITH THE KEY FOB OR THE PANEL BUTTON ON THE ROOF. THE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IF I'M IN AN ACCIDENT MY KIDS COULD BECOME TRAPPED BECAUSE I CAN'T OPEN THE DOOR.
REAR PASSENGER DOOR ACTUATOR BUZZES, DOOR STICKS OPEN AND WON'T CLOSE. STARTED RANDOMLY.
DRIVERS SIDE SLIDING DOOR STUCK SHUT WITH MY MOM IN THE SEAT, SHE IS HIGHLY CLAUSTROPHOBIC, SHE ALMOST HAD A PANIC ATTACK BY THE TIME WE WERE ABLE TO GET THE OTHER SIDE UNLOADED SO SHE COULD SLIDE OUT OF THE BACK SEAT. THIS WAS A SERIOUS HEALTH ISSUE FOR MY 76 YEAR OLD MOTHER, WHAT IF BOTH SIDES HAD STUCK SHUT, SHE PROBABLY WOULD HAVE HAD A HEART ATTACK BEFORE WE WERE ABLE TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET HER OUT. THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED AND NOW. DOOR STILL STUCK LOCKED SHUT AND THERE WAS NO WARNING WHEN IT HAPPENED, IT JUST DID. SHE IS SCARED TO RIDE IN MY VEHICLE NOW BECAUSE SHE DOESN'T WANT TO BE STUCK INSIDE AGAIN.
THE DRIVE SIDE SLIDING DOOR LOCKING MECHANISM GETS STUCK AND WILL NOT OPEN, CLOSE, OR UNLOCK CORRECTLY, PRESENTING A SAFETY ISSUE IF SOMETHING WERE TO HAPPEN AND YOU COULD NOT GET OUT QUICKLY AND SAFELY. THE ONLY WAY TO GET THE DOOR WORKING PROPERLY IS TO HOLD DOWN THE MANUAL LOCK AND PRESS THE BUTTON ON THE FOB TO OPEN THE DOOR AT THE SAME TIME. IT WILL WORK FINE FOR A BIT BUT THEN THE SAME ISSUE WILL HAPPEN. THIS DOES NOT SEEM TO BE AN ISOLATED INCIDENT IN READING ONLINE REPORTS.
BUZZING NOISE FROM PASSENGER RIGHT SIDE DOOR WHEN UNLOCKING VEHICLES
CYLINDER 6 MISFIRE DUE TO A COMPRESSION ISSUE DUE TO FAULTY HEAD. ONLY HAS 56K MILES ON IT. RESULTING IN STALLING OUT AND LACK OF POWER WHEN ACCELERATING.
SMELL OF GAS EMITTING FROM UNDER VEHICLE. WHEN STOPPED AT A LIGHT AND WINDOWS UP, IT CAN BE SMELLED, WHEN PARKED AFTER DRIVING CAN SMELL GAS ALL THE WAY AROUND THE VEHICLE, WHEN IDLE TO COOL OFF INTERIOR. FUEL CAN BE SMELLED ON FIRST APPROACH. MY WIFE AND KIDS HAVE ALL SMELLED IT IN VARIOUS LOCATIONS OF VEHICLE
I WAS DRIVING DOWN LOCAL HIGHWAY WHERE SPEED LIMIT IS 50MPH AND ROAD CONDITIONS ARE BUMPY AND UNEVEN. ALSO THERE IS A RAILWAY CROSSING. I WAS GOING ABOUT 48MPH WHEN MY LOW TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON. I DID NOT FEEL A DIFFERENCE IN THE WAY MY VEHICLE WAS DRIVING OR HEAR ANYTHING SUCH AS FLAT. I WENT DIRECTLY TO THE GAS STATION STRAIGHT AHEAD OF ME. WHEN I GOT OUT TO INSPECT MY VEHICLE I NOTICED MY BACK DRIVERS SIDE TIRE WAS FLAT. AFTER FURTHER EXAMINATION I NOTICED IT LOOKED TO ALMOST HAVE A SLIT LIKE PUNCTURE TO THE SIDE WALL. NOTE I HAD NOT HIT ANY CURBS AND MY VEHICLE IS KEPT IN A GARAGE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO EXCEED 30 MPH WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO RAY CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (23 N US-12, FOX LAKE, IL 60020) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED OR REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000. *LN*JB
THE FRONT LOCKS FOR FOR THE TWO FRONT DOORS DOES NOT LOCK PROPERLY. THE LATCHING LOCK MECHANISM DOES NOT ENGAGE. THE ALARM WILL SET AND GO OFF IF EITHER OF THE DOORS IS OPENED BUT THEY ARE NOT LOCKED. WHEN DRIVING AND THE SPEED GOES OVER 25MPH THE AUTOMATIC LOCKS DO NOT ENGAGE AND LOCK THE VEHICLE. I WILL INVESTIGATE FURTHER TO SEE IF THERE IS A PART IN NEED OF REPLACING.
SLIDING DOOR LOCKS AND WON'T OPEN OR UNLOCK. DOORS ARE AUTOMATIC DOORS. DOOR WILL NOT UNLOCK OR OPEN MANUALLY OR AUTOMATICALLY. *TR
MY REAR DOOR MAKES A LOUD BUZZ WHEN I UNLOCK IT AND APPARENTLY IT IS A REOCCURRING ISSUE IN THE CARAVAN AND WON'T OPEN FROM THE AUTOMATIC BUTTONS.
THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR IS STRUCK IN THE LOCK POSITION. ONCE CLOSED IT IS UNABLE TO OPEN. THERE IS NO WAY TO OPEN IT WITH THE FOB OR INSIDE UNLOCK BUTTON. *TR
SLIDING DOOR ON DRIVER'S SIDE WILL NOT UNLOCK AND THEREFORE WILL NOT OPEN. NOTHING HAPPENED, JUST STOPPED WORKING. CANNOT UNLOCK IT USING ANY OF THE BUTTONS AND CANNOT MANUALLY UNLOCK IT. VAN IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD AND THERE HAS BEEN NO DAMAGE TO THE DOOR OR VAN. MAY CREATE UNSAFE SITUATION IF UNABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE, ESPECIALLY IF THERE IS AN ACCIDENT THAT DAMAGES OTHER DOORS. *TR
THE DRIVERS SIDE PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR WAS STUCK SHUT IN THE LOCKED POSITION FOR 3 MONTHS. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME ALMOST $1000 TO BASICALLY REPLACE MOST OF THE DOOR, THIS DIAGNOSIS WAS DONE WHILE DOOR WAS STUCK SHUT. I FINALLY GOT IT OPEN BY PUSHING ON THE UNLOCK BUTTON AND PRESSING THE KEY FAB UNLOCK AT THE SAME TIME (SOMETHING I READ ON THE INTERNET). NOW IT OPENS AND CLOSES, BUT MAKES A BUZZING, CRUNCHING SOUND WHEN THE AUTO LOCK KICKS IN WHEN DRIVING, AND PERIODICALLY MAKES THE NOISE FOR NO REASON. ONLY BEEN 2 DAYS SINCE IT WOULD OPEN AND WAITING FOR IT TO BECOME STUCK OR ANOTHER ISSUE. SURE IS LOUD.
THE RIGHT SLIDING DOOR MAKES A LOUD BUZZING SOUND WHENEVER IT IS UNLOCKED. *TR
THE PASSENGER REAR SLIDING DOOR IS STUCK IN THE LOCKED POSITION, CANNOT MANUALLY UNLOCK, AND WILL NOT OPEN. THE PROBLEM WAS NOTICED IN THE PARK POSITION AND COULD NOT EXIT THE VEHICLE FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE. *TR
THE PASSENGER DRIVER SIDE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN. IT IS POWER IT WILL NOT OPEN WITH ANY OF THE BUTTON IT WILL ALSO NOT OPEN MANUALLY. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. IF I WAS IN A ACCIDENT OR ANYTHING AND NEEDED TO GET THAT DOOR OPEN I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO GET MY CHILDREN OUT OF THE CAR. IF THE OTHER DOOR BREAKS I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO USE MY CAR AT ALL. I'M EXTREMELY WORRIED ABOUT NEEDED THAT DOOR AND NOT BEING ABLE TO AND SOMETHING HAPPENING TO MY CHILDREN. I CALLED DODGE CUSTOMER SERVICE THEY TOLD ME I WAS OUT OF LUCK AND WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT TO GET FIXED MY SELF. I WOULD NEED TO FIRST PAY FOR THE DEALER TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IT IS AND PAY AROUND 1,000 DOLLARS FOR IT TO BE FIXED. I HAVE SEEN HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS HAPPENED TO VANS. PLEASE HELP WITH PROBLEM MANY FAMILIES IN DANGER WITH THESE DOOR NOT OPENING AT ALL. I'M TERRIFIED FOR MY CHILDREN WITH THIS DOOR NOT OPENING AT ALL. *TR
DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR WILL NOT OPEN AND IS IN THE UNLOCK POSITION. SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM ON THESE. HAVE 4 KIDS SO THIS VERY UNSAFE/ HUG INCONVENIENCE. DEALER WANTS A UNREASONABLE AMOUNT. FIGURED THEY WOULD FIX THIS BY NOW. SAME PROBLEM IN OTHER DODGE VAN I HAVE HAD. *TR
MY AC WENT OUT ONLY IN THE FRONT 1/3 OF THE VAN ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO AND STARTED TO HAVE A SLIGHT BUZZING SOUND UNDER MY DASH A COUPLE WEEKS AGO WHEN ANY ELECTRICAL DEVICE IS PLUGGED INTO AN OUTLET OR THE AC IS TURNED ON. *TR
THE VAN JUST SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING, NO WARNING, NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, NO CODES PULLING UP. IT JUST TURNS OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I'M GREATFUL I WASN'T ON THE FREEWAY OR TRAVELING AT A FAST SPEED. PUT IT IN PARK AND RESTARTED IT FINE AND DROVE FOR AWHILE AND IT JUST SHUTS OFF AGAIN. I HAVE SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS OF THESE VAN'S JUST SHUTTING DOWN....IT SHOULD REALLY BE LOOKED INTO FOR THIS YEAR NAKE AND MODEL CONSIDERING THAT THERE IS A RECALL FOR OTHER YEARS MAKES AND MODELS FOR THE SAME REASON. HOPEFULLY NO ONE HAS TO DIE BEFORE THIS IS LOOKED INTO. THERE IS NO WARNING , NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, NO CODES. VERY DANGEROUS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER'S SIDE SLIDING DOOR FAILED TO OPERATE AS DESIGNED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH SIMILAR VEHICLES. THE DEALER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE DRIVERS SIDE POWER SLIDER DOOR WILL NOT OPEN, IT LITERALLY JUST STOP WORKING. NONE OF THE BUTTONS IN THE CAR WORK TO OPEN IT OR THE KEY FOB. THE DOOR IS STUCK IN THE "LOCKED" POSITION. I READ ABOUT THE SAME ISSUES FROM HUNDREDS OF OTHER PEOPLE. THIS NEEDS RECALLED AND IS A SAFETY HAZARD. HOW AM I SUPPOSE TO GET MY KIDS OUT OF THE CAR IN AN EMERGENCY?!?! *TR
DRIVERS SIDE SLIDING BACK DOOR WILL NOT OPEN. LATCH WILL NOT AUTOMATICALLY OR MANUALLY UNLOCK. SAFETY HAZARD AS NOBODY CAN GET OUT THAT BACK DOOR. 2017 CARAVAN GT 66K MI
THE OIL COOLER WHICH HOLDS THE OIL TEMPERATURE SWITCH AND OIL PRESSURE SWITCH AND OIL FILTER HOUSING IS MADE OF PLASTIC AND SEALED TO ALUMINUM INTAKE MANIFOLD WITH BOLTS AND RUBBER O-RINGS. THIS PART IS CRACKED AND LEAKING OIL AT TOP END ON A HOT ENGINE; OIL LEAKS DOWN ONTO BOTTOM OF TRANSMISSION AND ONTO ROADWAY/DRIVEWAY. CAR HAS ONLY 60,000 MILES. FROM LOOKING AT YOU TUBE VIDEOS AND GOOGLE SEARCHES, I FOUND MANY CASES OF THIS. HARD TO UNDERSTAND WHY RECALL HAS NOT ALREADY BEEN MADE FOR SOMETHING SO POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS AND OBVIOUSLY A DEFECTIVE PART. EXPENSES TO REPAIR SHOULD BE PAID FOR BY CHRYSLER/DODGE IF RECALL COMES AFTER US OWNERS SPEND THE THOUSAND DOLLARS TO SO FOR PARTS AND LABOR. ENGINE LEAKS WHEN RUNNING WHETHER PARKED OR MOVING ON STREET OR HIGHWAY. *TR
LOCK ACTUATOR IS STUCK IN THE UNLOCK POSITION WHICH MEANS MY KIDS COULD OPEN THE DOOR MANUAL WHILE DRIVING. DOOR WILL NOT LOCK AT ALL ON THAT DOOR. ONLY NOTICE IT TODAY WHEN MY SON TRIED TO OPEN THE DOOR WHILE THAT CAR WAS LOCKED AND HAD SET OFF THE ALARM. SO I HAVE NO IDEA ON WHEN THIS PROBLEM ORIGINATED. *TR
THE AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY

BOTH SLIDING DOORS ARE STUCK IN LOCKED POSITION. CANNOT BE OPENED WITH KEYFOB, MANUALLY, OR WITH THE OVERHEAD BUTTON IN THE CABIN. THE DOORS MAKE A CLICKING NOISE EVEN WHEN THEY TRY TO OPEN.
BOTH REAR DOORS WILL NOT OPEN AT TIMES FROM ANY SOURCE (IE. HANDLE, KEY, OR BUTTON ON UPPER DASH). WORKED FINE THEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN THE DOOR WON'T OPEN. I AM WORRIED THAT IF SOMETHING WAS TO HAPPEN MY YOUNG DAUGHTER WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE CAR.
THE VAN STALLS WHILE RUNNING AND SOMETIMES WON'T START WHILE THE INTERIOR LIGHTS FLICKER. WHILE DRIVING, THE HEADLIGHTS DIM AND FLICKER WHILE THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ARE NORMAL. I CHECKED MY BATTERY, STARTER, AND ALTERNATOR AND THE MECHANIC TESTED THEM AND SAID THEY WERE ALL GOOD. THEY RECOMMENDED ME TO GO TO THE MANUFACTURER AND CHECK FOR RECALLS. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT TO DO.
VAN MAY OR MAY NOT START, OR SHUTS OFF RANDOMLY. I HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERY 3 TIMES AND CHANGED AN ALTERNATOR. I HAVE NOTICED THAT OTHER VANS HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR A NON START, BUT FOR SOME REASON MY FAN ISN'T INCLUDED. ALSO MY UCONNECT DOES NOT WORK. IT DOESN'T EVEN RECOGNIZE THAT I HAVE BLUE TOOTH IN THE CAR. NOT HAPPY WITH THIS VAN AT ALL, I GOT A LEMON!
I BOUGHT THIS DODGE CARVAN 2017 IT HAS 41700 MILES AFTER I START THE VAN AND MOVE IT ABOUT 20 FEET IT AUTOMATICALLY LOCKS THE DOORS AND THE RIGHT SIDE SLIDING DOOR IN THE BACK MAKES A BIG NOISE THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A WEEK NOW THE BACK SLIDING DOOR IS STUCK AND CANNOT BE MOVED , TOOK IT TO DEALER SAID IT WILL COST $1100 . IT I HAVE AN ACCIDENT AND MY CHILD IS TRYING TO GET OUT AND CANT . I DONT KNOW WHAT I WILL DO WITH MY ANGER IF I LOSE MY CHILD!! I NOTICE THAT THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON WITH DODGE CARVANS AND NOTHING HAS HAPPEN I WANT A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE, DOES A LIFE HAS TO BE LOST IN ORDER FOR THIS TO HAPPEN OR WHAT ?
2017 DODGE CARAVAN REAR DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR IS STUCK IN THE LOCK POSITION. IT WON'T OPEN OR UNLOCK AUTOMATICALLY OR MANUALLY. IT WAS FINE WHEN I WENT TO BED THE NIGHT BEFORE. WENT TO PUT THE KIDS IN THE CAR THE NEXT MORNING IT WOULDN'T OPEN.
VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, HAD THE CAR FOR NOT EVEN ONE YEAR. THE DRIVER'S SIDE BACK SLIDING DOOR IS STUCK IN THE LOCK POSITION. IT WILL NOT UNLOCK MANUALLY OR ELECTRONICALLY. WE HAVE 2 LITTLE KIDS AND THIS WOULD BE A DANGEROUS SITUATION IF AN ACCIDENT OCCURRED AND WE HAD TO GET OUR KIDS OUT QUICKLY.
THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT IS BEING RIPPED AND SHREDDED BY A SHARP METAL PART OF THE SEAT FRAME THAT PROTRUDES INTO THE SIDE OF THE SEAT CUSHION. THE FRAME IS COVERED BY THE PLASTIC SEAT BASE.
FRONT PASSENGER DOOR UNLATCHED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND WILL NOT LATCH. DOOR CAN NOT BE SHUT AND REMAIN LATCHED RENDERING THE VEHICLE INOPERABLE. THIS ALSO HAPPENED TO THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR AND WAS REPAIRED ON 01/06/20

IF WE WOULD OF BEEN HIT, WE COULD NOT HAVE GOTTEN OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THIS HAPPENED ON HIGHWAY WHILE WE WERE MOVING.
WHILE STATIONARY, PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR WILL NOT RELIABLY OPEN; MANUALLY OR WITH KEYLESS ENTRY. KEY FOB DOES NOT ACTIVATE THE ACTUATOR TO UNLOCK THE DOOR. UNABLE TO GET INTO THE VEHICLE IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY. DOOR CAN ONLY BE OPENED FROM INSIDE.
THE SLIDING BACK PASSENGER DOORS DO NOT OPEN WITH THE REMOTES. THEY ALSO LOCK UP AND CANNOT BE UNLOCKED OR EVEN OPENED MANUALLY. THIS IS A HUGE DANGER AS IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY PASSENGERS CANNOT GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE.
PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR STUCK IN LOCK POSITION CAN NOT OPEN WITH FOB, INSIDE BUTTON OR MANUALLY. THIS OCCURRED AT APPROXIMATELY 66,756 MILES. THE VEHICLE HAS AUTOMATIC LOCKS AND LOCKS WHEN DRIVING.

THE DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR IS STUCK SHUT IN LOCKED POSITION. WE ARE UNABLE TO MANUALLY OR ELECTRONICALLY UNLOCK. WE ALSO CANNOT OPEN THE DOOR ELECTRONICALLY OR MANUALLY. DOOR WAS WORKING PROPERLY WITH NO ISSUES UNTIL THIS POINT.
ABOUT 1 WEEK AGO MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE CODE READER SAID IT WAS A P302, MISFIRE IN #2. THE VEHICLE IDLES ROUGH AND SOMETIMES STALLS WHILE DRIVING. OTHER 2017 GRAND CARAVANS HAVE HAD A RECALL FOR A VERY SIMILAR REASON, BUT MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THAT. I FEEL IT SHOULD BE. ALSO THE COMPANY HAS EXTEND ITS ENGINE WARRANTY ON CYLINDER HEADS TO 10 YEARS OR 150,000 MILES ON 2012 CARAVANS WITH SAME ENGINE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. NOW THE WANT $3,600 TO FIX WHAT SEEMS TO BE A INHERENT PROBLEM WITH THAT ENGINE. NOT FAIR! 1 AFFECTED PRODUCT
LOSS OF ENGINE POWER WHILE DRIVING. WHEN IT HAPPENS, THERE'S ALSO LOSS OF POWERING STEERING AND BRAKES. THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN A DOZEN TIMES ON CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS. IT'S BEEN TAKEN TO A DODGE DEALERSHIP. I'M TOLD THEY CAN'T FIND THE PROBLEM. IT'S HAPPENED TWICE THIS WEEK GOING TO WORK ON JANUARY 28 & 29, 2020.
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE RADIO JUST RANDOMLY SHUTS DOWN. SCREEN GOES BLACK FOR ABOUT 10 SECONDS, THEN RESTARTS ITSELF. ALL PRE-SAVED STATIONS ARE STILL THERE BUT IT'S ALMOST LIKE WE TURNED THE CAR OFF, THEN TURNED IT BACK ON. HAPPENS QUITE A BIT - ABOUT ONCE A WEEK OR MORE.

I BOUGHT A 2017 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN IN FEBRUARY 2019. DECEMBER 20, 2019 I WAS DRIVING HOME AND ALL OF MY DASH LIGHTS AND WARNINGS CAME ON, MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS CAME ON, AND THE ODOMETER AND GAS GAUGE WENT DOWN WHILE TURNING ONTO MY HOME STREET. . WE TOOK IT TO A DODGE DEALERSHIP AND AFTER LOOKING AND TESTING THINGS THEY SAID IT WAS THE INSTRUMENTAL CLUSTER PANEL.
AIRBAG SENSOR LIGHT TURNS ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY. I HAVE TRIED TO FIGURE OT WHAT IS CAUSING THIS BUT CANT SEEM TO FIND ANYTHING. ITS HAPPENED ALOT OVER THE LAST 6 MONTHS. NERVOUS THE AIRBAGS MIGHT DEPLOY FOR NO REASON.
THE BRAKE SWITCHES ON THESE VEHICLES MAY MALFUNCTION, KEEPING THE BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THIS IS THE SAME WARNING IN THE RECALL FOR 2017 DODGE CARAVANS, YET MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL, AND CHRYSLER IS REFUSING TO FIX. THE CURRENT RECALL SAYS " CHRYSLER (FCA US LLC) IS RECALLING CERTAIN 2017 DODGE CARAVAN AND JEEP WRANGLER VEHICLES. THE BRAKE SWITCHES ON THESE VEHICLES MAY MALFUNCTION, KEEPING THE BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AND/OR ALLOWING THE VEHICLE TO BE SHIFTED OUT OF THE PARK POSITION WITHOUT THE BRAKE PEDAL BEING PUSHED."
DRIVING ON HIGHWAY ABOUT 75 MPH WITH CRUISE SET. IT WAS ALMOST AS IF THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF, I LOST ALL CONNECTION AND MY COMPUTER WENT WHACK. ALL THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS CAME ON ETC . IT SLOWED MY CAR DOWN, AND RESET MY RADIO ETC . BUT THAN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT ALL CAME BACK ON AND I PROCEEDED . BUT SCARED ME AND THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS WRECK. IT'S SCHEDULED TO GO INTO THE SHOP AND BE CHECKED OVER THIS WEEK.
WHILE ENTERING FREEWAY ONRAMP ENGINE POWER REDUCED AND VEHICLE FOLLOWING HAD TO SWERVE TO AVOID COLLISION. BELIEVE ENGINE OUTPUT LESSENED BY CYLINDER 2 MISFIRE ISSUE COMMON WITH DODGE ENGINES CREATING FAILURES AND LOSS OF COMPRESSION AND REDUCED POWER WITH SPORADIC LOSS OF ACCELERATION WHEN NEEDED.

PARKED IN DRIVEWAY, TRIED TO OPEN REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR AND IT IS LOCKED AND I CANNOT UNLOCK IT. MY HUSBAND SUFFERED A MASSIVE STROKE AND THIS VAN IS HOW WE GET AROUND. IT IS IMPERATIVE THIS BE FIXED AS HE IS IN A WHEELCHAIR PERMANENTLY AND WOULD BE STUCK INSIDE IF, GOD FORBID, AN ACCIDENT OR FIRE HAPPENED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 38 MPH, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO MISFIRE AND HESITATE. ALSO, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. A RED FLASHING LIGHTNING SIGN ILLUMINATED AND THEN WENT AWAY. THE VAN THEN STOPPED ACCELERATING. I CALLED A TOW TRUCK TO TAKE TO DEALERSHIP AND NOW LIGHTS ARE ON AT ALL. USER MANUAL STATES THAT IT IS AN ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL INDICATOR LIGHT.
VEHICAL HAS A CODE FOR CYLANDER 4 MISFIRE. THIS CAUSES MY REMOTE START TO NOT WORK AND THE VEHICAL IS RUNNING ROUGH. NEW SPARK PLUGS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. FOR A TWO YEAR OLD VEHICAL IT SHOULD BE RELIABLE BUT I FIND MYSELF RELYING ON MY 88 S10 MORE THAN OUR TWO YEAR OLD VAN. READING UP ON THE 3.6L ENGINE I AM CONCERNED THAT IT MAY HAVE THE PROBLEM WITH THE CYLINDER HEAD AS WITH MANY OTHER CARAVAN 3.6L BUT MY VINTAGE IS SOMEHOW NOT AFFECTED. I CAN RESET THE CODE AND DRIVE BUT AS SOON AS I PARK THE CODE COMES BACK
OUR 2017 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN DRIVERS SIDE SLIDING DOOR IS LOCKED AND WON'T IPEN WITH ANY REMOTES, BUTTONS OR MANUALLY. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN IF WE NEED TO GET OUT THAT DOOR. I NOTICED A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE ON THE INTERNET ARE STATING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH BACK TO 2014. THE OTHER CONSUMERS ENCOURAGE US TO REPORT. WE HAVE JUST HAD THAT SEAT STUCK AND WON'T STOW/ FIXED TO TUNE OF $800, SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT SAME PROBLEM AND SAME SIDE, REPLACED A BATTERY ON 2 YEAR OLD VAN!!?? DODGE NEEDS TO MAKE THIS ONE RIGHT- IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE!!
I WAS DRIVING DOWN A MAIN ROAD ALL THE LIGHTS CAME ON IN MY DASH CAR STARTED BEEPING, RADIO CAME ON, WINDSHIELD WHIPPERS CAME ON AT HIGH SPEED, AC CAME ON, LOST THE ABILITY TO STEER VEHICLE OR BRAKE WITH MILEAGE SCREEN SWITCHING TO DIFFERENT OPTIONS WITHIN THAT SCREEN. CAR BEEN AT DEALER SINCE THE DAY AFTER STILL DO NOT HAVE VEHICLE BACK OR A DIAGNOSIS OF WHAT OR WHY VEHICLE WENT INTO THIS STATE.
DRIVING ON HIGHWAY, HEARD FLAPPING NOISE. PULLED OVER, OPENED PASSENGER DOOR, TRIM WAS HANGING OFF. TOOK IT OFF. FOUND OUT IT IS CALLED APPLIQUE/MOLDING/ TAPE DOOR PILLAR FRONT DOOR. WENT TO DEALERSHIP IN SAN ANTONIO YESTERDAY, WAS TOLD THAT EVEN WITH MAXIMUM CARE PLAN THIS TRIM WAS NOT COVERED BECAUSE IT WAS CONSIDERED COSMETIC. THIS IS MY 3RD DODGE GRAND CARAVAN AND THE SECOND ONE TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE SLIDING DOOR FAILED TO OPEN. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. A DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
SLIDING DOOR BEHIND DRIVERS SIDE STUCK IN "LOCK" POSITION. WILL NOT UNLOCK. THIS IS A VERY WIDESPREAD PROBLEM WITH 100S OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE.
DRIVER SIDE REAR SLIDING DOOR GOT STUCK IN A LOCKED AND CLOSED POSITION RENDERING THE DOOR UNABLE TO OPEN WHILE IN A STATIONARY POSITION (IN PARK). MECHANISM TO LOCK/UNLOCK THE DOOR STUCK IN THE MIDDLE POSITION UNABLE TO BE ENGAGED INTO EITHER A FIRM LOCKED OR LOCKED POSITION. PROBLEM IS SUSPECTED TO BE WITH THE DOOR ACTUATOR. PASSENGERS ARE UNABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE FROM THIS DOOR CAUSING A POSSIBLE UNSAFE CONDITION DURING AN EMERGENCY.
THIS 2017 GRAND CARAVAN HAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE ROCKER ARMS BECOMING LOOSE WHICH CAUSES A TICKING SOUND. THIS SEEMS TO BE COMMON WITH THE ENGINE SIZE AND IN DODGE PRODUCTS. I'M NOT MECHANIC BUT FAILING ROCKER ARMS SEEMS VERY UNSAFE!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE SLIDING DOOR FAILED TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
VEHICLE'S POWERTRAIN STALLED ON TWO OCCASSIONS. ONCE AFTER STOPPING AT RED LIGHT, AND SECOND TIME (WEEKS LATER) ON INTERSTATE IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. ON EACH OCCASION ENGINE CONTINUED TO RUN BUT TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT ENGAGE. I HAD TO STOP, PUT IN NEUTRAL OR PARK SETTING, THEN SHIFT TO DRIVE TO GET POWERTRAIN TO RE-ENGAGE.
ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE CODE READER SAID IT WAS A MISFIRE IN #2. THE VEHICLE IDLES ROUGH AND SOMETIMES STALLS WHILE DRIVING. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WE GOT STUCK IN TRAFFIC, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THANKFULLY IT STARTED RIGHT BACK UP. ANOTHER INSTANCE, I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY, I STOPPED BECAUSE A CAR WAS COMING, WHEN I PROCEEDING TO BACK OUT THE CAR STALLED. SPARK PLUGS AND ENGINE COAL WERE CHANGED. DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. OTHER 2017 GRAND CARAVANS HAS A RECALL FOR A VERY SIMILAR REASON, BUT MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THAT. I FEEL IT SHOULD BE.
DRIVER SEAT BELT WOULD NOT FASTEN . LOWER SECTION OF SEAT BELT WAS REPLACED BY DEALER ON 07/23/2019..
TAKATA RECALL ENGINE OIL COOLER CRACKED AT THE BASE CAUSING ENGINE OIL TO LEAK OVER THE TOP OF THE ENGINE AND DOWN THE MANIFOLD. THIS MAY CAUSE A FIRE AT THE MANIFOLD AREA RESULTING IN A POSSIBLE INJURY TO THE DRIVER. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS MOVING AND AT IDLE.
ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON, CODE READ AS A MISFIRE IN COIL #2, PAID $400 TO HAVE COIL REPLACED AND THE LIGHT IS STILL ON. THE VAN STILL SHAKES WHILE DRIVING AND WHILE IN IDLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE WOULD SUDDENLY SHUT OFF AND COULD NOT BE IMMEDIATELY RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND LOCAL DEALER (EAST CHESTER CHRYSLER DODGE, 4007 BOSTON RD, BRONX, NY) WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,000.
I DRIVE A 2017 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. LAST WEEK, AS I WAS DRIVING MY CHILDREN TO THEIR GRANDMOTHERS HOUSE, I NOTICED THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKING. I REGAINED CONTROL AND MADE IT TO MY MOMS HOUSE AND DROPPED OFF THE CHILDREN. AS I LEFT HER HOUSE AND MADE IT BACK TO THE ROAD, THE VAN BECAME HARD TO STEER. IT STARTED JERKING TO ONE SIDE AND WOBBLING. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED MY VAN AND WAS TOLD TO BRING IT IN IMMEDIATELY. THE DAY AFTER BRINGING THE VAN IN, I RETURNED TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY SHOWED ME WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE VAN. IT WAS LIFTED UP INTO THE AIR AND I WAS SHOWED THAT THE REAR AXLE ON THE DRIVER SIDE HAD BEEN BROKEN. THERE WAS 2 MECHANICS THERE AND ONE SUGGESTED THAT I HAD BEEN IN A COLLISION OR HIT A BIG POTHOLE. THE OTHER SAID THAT IT COULDN'T HAVE BEEN A DRIVER ERROR BECAUSE OF THE WAY THE BREAK ON THE AXLE WAS BENT AS WELL AS THE LACK OF ANY SCRATCHES OR DAMAGE TO ANY OTHER AREA OF THE VAN. MY TIRES AND RIMS SHOW NO DAMAGE, AND THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF THE VAN ALSO SHOWS NO SIGN OF HITTING A POTHOLE, AS THERE ARE NO SCRATCHES ANYWHERE UNDER THE VAN. ONE OF THE MECHANICS SAID IT COULD HAVE BEEN SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE AXLE BECAUSE OF THE BENT WAY IT WAS BROKEN AND HE ALSO NOTICED THAT IT SHOWED SIGNS OF IT BEING ALREADY CRACKED BECAUSE THE METAL APPEARED TO BE OLD ON ONE SPOT AND FRESH ON ANOTHER. I HIGHLY DENY HITTING ANYTHING LIKE A POT HOLE OR HAVING BEEN IN A COLLISION THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO DAMAGE TO ANY PART OF MY VEHICLE SAVE THE BROKEN AXLE. *DT*JB
DRIVER SIDE PASSENGER DOOR IS STUCK IN THE LOCKED POSITION. IT CANNOT BE UNLOCKED MANUALLY, WITH THE KEY FOB, OR THE UNLOCK BUTTONS ON THE DOORS. THE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN. THIS IS A HORRIBLE SAFETY HAZARD!!!
VEHICLE PURCHASED USED 3/3/19, SUPPOSEDLY WITH NO PROBLEMS WITH BRAKE SYSTEM. TWO MONTHS LATER REAR BRAKES ARE GRINDING AWAY AT ROTORS, CALIPERS ARE GETTING STUCK, AND THERE WAS A FIRE ON DRIVER'S SIDE REAR BRAKES.
ARE 2017 DODGE GRAND CANAVAN HAS SHUT OF WHEN WE ARE DRIVING ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THE FIRST MAJOR ISSUE WE HAD WITH THE VAN, WAS WHEN MY WIFE PARK AT THE LOCAL RETAILER STORE AND REMOVED THE KEY AND IT DID NOT SHUT OFF. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. IT HAS SHUT OF ON MY WIFE ON A BUSY INTERSECTION AND WHILE JUST DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD; IT SHUT OF ON ME WAITING IN LINE FOR A CAR WASH. WE HAVE TAKEN IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY "CAN NOT FIND" ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT.
I BOUGHT THE CAR MONTH AGO WITH 34900 MILES ON IT AND WITHIN THE MONTH MY AC STARTED BLOWING HOT AIR WHILE DRIVING, MY PASSENGER REAR DOOR WAS MAKING GRINDING NOISE ON OPENING/CLOSING/LOCKING AND THE WINDSHIRLD WIPER FLUID LINE CAME UNDONE WITHIN 3 WEEKS. AS I DIDN'T KNOW THAT THE WARRANTY ENDED AT 36000 MILES, I WAS TOLD 65,000, I WAITED TO TAKE THE CAR IN TO THE SHOP INTELL I GOT OUT OF WORK, ONE MONTH TO THE DAY FROM DATE OF PURCHASE, AND TOOK IT INTO THE DODGE DEALERSHIP. A CAR THEN HAD 36200 MILES AND I WAS NOT TOLD I NEEDED TO PAY JUST TO GET IT CHECKED OUT AT THE DODGE DEALERSHIP. IT TURNS OUT THAT THE LATCH TO THE DOOR WAS BROKEN AND THE REAR AC PUMP IS LEAKING AND THAT I NEED TO PAY $2000 TO FIX THESE ISSUES. THESE ISSUES WHERE THERE BEFORE I WENT OVER WARRANTY BUT THAT DOESN'T MATTER TO DODGE.
VEHICLE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK VEHICLE TO LICENSED GARAGE FOR ANALYSIS. THE CODE 2 INDICATED A REPLACEMENT OF THE COIL AND SPARKPLUGS NEED TO BE DONE. AFTER MECHANIC CHANGED ITEMS, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. TOOK VEHICLE BACK TO MECHANIC AND AFTER RESEARCH AND SPENDING $604.71 IN REPAIR CHARGES, MY MECHANIC, AFTER CONFERRING WITH DEALERSHIP PERSONNEL WAS ADVISED THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE #2 CYLINDER. TOOK VEHICLE TO ORCHARD DEALERSHIP AND AFTER ADDITIONAL EXPENSE FOUND THAT THEY DID WARRANTY WORK ON THE CYLINDER. MY MECHANIC ADVISED THAT THE INITIAL REPAIRS WERE UNNECESSARY AS THE PLUGS AND COIL WERE FINE. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER FOR REIMBURSEMENT. THEY DENIED SAME STATING THAT I DID NOT HAVE THE VEHICLE SERVICED AT A DEALERSHIP INITIALLY. PRIOR TO THE REPAIR THE VEHICLE WOULD HESITATE AND BALK WHEN DRIVING. THIS IS MY DAUGHTERS VEHICLE [XXX] ALONG WITH OUR 2 GRANDCHILDREN. CHRYSLER DID NOT ADMIT TO A VEHICLE PROBLEM WITH THIS ENGINE UNTIL MY MECHANIC WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP. WARRANTY REPAIRS WERE THEN MADE. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR STOPPED LOCKING AND UNLOCKING CAUSING A SAFETY HAZARD FOR CHILDREN AND PASSENGERS IN THE BACK SEAT.
DRIVER SIDE REAR PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR WILL NOT OPEN. IT SEEMS TO BE LOCKED AND WON'T UNLOCK ELECTRICALLY OR MANUALLY. VEHICLE IS STATIONARY.
SES FOR P0306 MISFIRE CYLINDER 6 DURABLE TO PREMATURE HEAD WARPING. DODGE STATES A KNOWN PROBLEM. THIS COULD CAUSE POWER LOSS DURING ACCELERATION.
I BOUGHT 2017 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. NOW, THE CAR HAS 34,940 MILES. WHEN I PUS THE BRAKE WHEN THE CAR SPEED ABOVE 40 MILES/HOUR, THE CAR VIBRATES. I THINK THE ROTOR IS WARPED. IT IS DANGEROUS ON THE HIGHWAY BECAUSE THIS PROBLEM. TALKED TO DODGE DEALERSHIP AND CALLED DODGE CUSTOMER CARE. THEY BOTH TOLD ME IT IS NOT COVERED BY THE 36MONTH/36,000MILE WARRANTY. SEARCHED ON THE INTERNET, A LOT OF OWNER COMPLAINED THE BRAKE PROBLEM ABOUT DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. EXPERIENCED MECHANICS INDICATED THIS IS A DESIGN ISSUE. DODGE DOESN'T HAVE A GOOD ENOUGH BRAKE FOR THIS CAR. THIS PROBLEM EXISTS FOR MANY YEARS AND DODGE STILL UNWILLING TO REDESIGN OR COVER THIS DESIGN FLAW. DODGE SHOULD PROVIDE SPECIAL WARRANTY TO COVER THIS DESIGN FLAW AND IT IS A GREAT SAFETY ISSUE NHTSA TAKE THE LEADERSHIP TO ASK DODGE FIX THIS COMMON PROBLEM RELATED TO THEIR DESIGN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND UNOCCUPIED, IT ROLLED DOWN A HILL AND CRASHED INTO A HOME AND TREE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO FERRARIO CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP (LOCATED AT 2463 CORNING RD, ELMIRA, NY 14903, (607) 733-9108), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. *BF ..*JB *DT*JB
THIS HAS OCCURRED NOW AT LEAST 12 TIMES IN THE LAST YEAR. THE MIDDLE ROW SEATS. AFTER FASTENING THE SEAT BELTS, THEY UNBUCKLE. I HAD CAR SEATS WITH CHILDREN BUCKLED AND ALL A SUDDEN THEY TELL ME IT CAME UNBUCKLED WHILE DRIVING AND I HAVE TO STOP AND LOCK IT AGAIN. IN FACT ONE TIME IT WOULDNT LOCK AGAIN AND HAD TO PUT THEM IN THE BACK ROW. I TESTED IT MYSELF AND BUCKLED THEM AND PULLED SLIGHTLY ON THEM AND THEY CAME UNBUCKLED WITHOUT PRESSING THE UNBUCKLE BUTTON.THIS IS A SERIOUSLY DANGEROUS PROBLEM IN AN ACCIDENT WITH CHILDREN IN CAR SEATS THAT THE BELTS COME UNDONE. IT JUST HAPPENED YESTERDAY AGAIN.
WHILE COMING TO A STOP THE VEHICLE WILL SHUT DOWN. THERE IS A DING LIKE THE A SEATBELT ISN'T BUCKLED, THE LIGHTS FLASH AND THE VEHICLE JUST SHUTS DOWN LIKE SOMEONE TURNED THE KEY OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED BOTH WHEN THE VEHICLE IS COLD AND WARM IT STARTS BACK UP BUT WHEN IT DOES THE TIME ON THE RADIO IS HAS TO RESET IT SELF AND THE ATC UNIT IS ALL OFF AND HAS TO BE MANUALLY RESET AS OF NOW IT'S ONLY HAPPENED WHILE I WAS APPLYING THE BRAKES SCARED THIS COULD HAPPEN ON THE HIGHWAY. I'VE ONLY HAD THE VEHICLE 2 WEEKS BOUGHT IS USED WITH 48000 MILES ON IT.
ON 01/28/2019,, AFTER I OPENED THE HOOD TO EXAM THE POWER/TRAIN AND OTHER COMPONENTS UNDER THE HOOD. I IMMEDIATELY NOTICED THREE WIRES AND A YELLOW FUSE ATTACHED TO MY BATTERY/ I IMMEDIATELY ASKED "TIMMY" WHAT THESE WERE AND WHY IS THE ENGINE SO LOUD? HE STATED THAT HE DID NOT KNOW. I ASKED, "MAY I SPEAK TO THE TECH THAT INSTALLED MY TRANSMISSION?" HE REPLIED, "I'M REALLY BUSY.." HE WALKED AWAY WHILE I WAS ASKING HIM QUESTIONS, WITHOUT ANY EXPLANATION OR REPAIRS. THE DODGE DEALER INSTALLED AFTERMARKET WIRING AND A FUSE ON MY VEHICLE WITHOUT MY PERMISSION AND REFUSED TO TELL ME WHAT IT CONTROLS AND WHY IT IS NEEDED. "TIMMY" ALSO STATED TO ME THE LOUD RUMBLING NOISES WERE NORMAL. I INFORMED HIM, THAT IS NOT HOW MY CAR SOUNDED PRIOR TO THE TRANSMISSION FAILING.
THE TRANSMISSION STOPPED SHIFTING INTO GEAR (REVERSE AND DRIVE). THE VAN STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY, DIRECTLY IN TRAFFIC. THE VEHICLE WAS IN DRIVE WHEN T STOPPED COMPLETELY. THE VEHICLE WAS SCREAMING LOUDLY AND WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR AT ALL. MY LIFE WAS IN IMMEDIATE DANGER! THE ELECTRICAL IS TURNING ON AND OFF WITHOUT ASSISTANCE INCLUDING WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES PRIOR. THE DODGE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED IN PERSON OF MY ISSUES AND CONCERNS. NOTHING WAS DONE TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE AT ANY TIME. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN OUT OF SERVICE FOR 30 DAYS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. WHILE DRIVING UNKNOWN SPEEDS, THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT SHOOK AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. ALL THE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO GWINNETT CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (5054 US-78, STONE MOUNTAIN, GA 30087, (678) 384-4774) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE WAS SHORTING OUT THE FUEL PUMP. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FUEL PUMP WAS COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000.
I WAS ON HIGHWAY 87 IN I WAS IN MOTION ALL OF A SUDDEN THE WHEEL JERKED TO THE LEFT I TRIED TO KEEP STREERING WHEEL STRIGHT AND THEN IT JERKED TO THE RIGHT, AND THEN IT GOT STUCK MOTOR STILLN RUNNING AND THEN IT WENT INTO REVERSE BY ITSELF WITHOUT ME TOUCHING ANYTHING THERE WAS A LOT OF DAMAGE DUNE TO MY VAN. COLLISION LOCATION SR-87 & MP-214 REPORT #2018-052783 DATE 10/24/18 THE AIRBAGS DID NOTE OPERATE AT ALL
IGNITION SWITCH FAIL TO STAR .WHEN YOU INITIAL IS FREQUENT ALMOST MOST THE TIME
MY SON WAS ALMOST CLOSED IN THE DOOR GETTING IN THE VAN DOORS FAILED TO OPEN BACK UP AND LITERALLY ALMOST CLOSED HIM IN. I HAD TO TELL HIM TO MOVE QUICKLY
VEHICLE WAS IN A PARKING LOT RUNNING BUT PARKED. IT SHIFTED OUT OF PARK AND STARTED ROLLING BY ITSELF.
THE REAR POWER OUTLET (BETWEEN THE MIDDLE REAR SET AND REAR SET ON DRIVER SIDE) CAUGHT FIRE. WE WERE DRIVING IN OCALA, FL ENTERING THE I75 HIGHWAY ON RAMP WHEN WE SAW SMOKE AND THEN FLAMES SHOOTING FROM THE REAR POWER OUTLET. WE GOT THE KIDS OUT OF THE VAN AND THE FIRE TOOK OVER THE ENTIRE VAN. I WAS TOLD AN INVESTIGATION WAS COMPLETED IN JUNE BY DODGE BUT HAVE NOT BEEN TOLD THE OPINION FROM THE INVESTIGATION. *TT*DT*TP
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IN A 2017 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN WITH CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED AT THE POSTED SPEED OF 70MPH, THE CRUISE FAILED TO DISENGAGE WITH THE DEPRESSION OF THE BRAKE, OR BY TRYING TO TURN THE CRUISE OFF. THE ACCELERATOR WAS STUCK; AND THE FLOOR MAT WAS CHECKED TO SEE IF THIS WAS JAMMING THE SYSTEM. IT WAS NOT. REPEATED DEPRESSION OF BRAKE PEDAL FAILED TO DISENGAGE CRUISE CONTROL. REPEATED ATTEMPTS TO SHUT OFF CRUISE CONTROL FAILED. FINALLY I PRAYED, AND THE CRUISE DISENGAGED. USED THE CRUISE AGAIN THE NEXT DAY AT LOWER SPEED OF 45 MPH ON BACK HIGHWAY AND NOTICED SOME STICKING. WAS ABLE TO BRAKE AND DISENGAGE AT LOWER SPEED AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. HAVE NOT USED THE CRUISE CONTROL AGAIN. THE VEHICLE HAD LESS THAN 30,000 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME. IN BOTH INSTANCES THE VEHICLE WAS GOING STRAIGHT. *TT *JS *TR
THE BLOWER ONLY WORKS ON HEAT, AND ONLY REAR CONTROLS. STILL NOT NORMAL AMOUNT OF HEAT. FRONT DO NOT NOT WORK UNLESS IT IS ON DEFROST, BARELY ENOUGH HEAT DISPLACED ON WIND SHIELD CAUSING VISIBILITY IN THE WINTER TO BE HORRIBLE. THE AMOUNT OF VISIBILITY IS LESS THAN 45% OF WINDSHIELD. 10550 MILES CURRENTLY.
▸ Engine stalling at speed — fuel delivery failure can cause sudden loss of power in traffic or on highways
▸ Complete transmission failure — repair costs $3,000–$8,000+; vehicle may become undriveable
The blue line shows 400 total NHTSA complaints filed over 9 years, with the worst year being 2021 (77 complaints).
The amber reliability line is declining — recent years score around 10/100, lower than earlier in the vehicle's life. This pattern indicates issues are accumulating over time rather than being resolved, which is a concern for used buyers.
The recall (red dashed line) were issued in the same year or before complaints peaked, suggesting the manufacturer identified and acted on the defect relatively quickly.
Red dots on the amber line flag 5 years (2018, 2019, 2020, 2023, 2026) where complaints included crash events — these are the highest-severity incidents in the dataset.
Estimates use EPA fuel economy data, AAA 2024 national averages for insurance and maintenance, and a standard depreciation curve. Actual costs vary by location, driving habits, and vehicle condition.
Estimated 5-year cost of ownership: $42,239 (~$704/mo). Repair risk buffer is standard due to vehicle risk profile.
Based on original MSRP of $34,395 with suv depreciation curve. Range reflects ±15% market variance. Actual value depends on condition, options, and local demand.
5% baseline recall probability — no strong indicators of an imminent recall.
Maintenance intervals vary significantly by make, model, year, engine, and driving conditions. Always follow the manufacturer's official schedule — not generic industry estimates.
Tip: Request the seller's service records and compare against the manufacturer schedule. Missing intervals are a negotiation point.
Based on 2024 national avg ($2,011/yr full coverage). Individual rates vary by driver, location & insurer. Always compare 3+ quotes.
