Lemon law eligibility depends on state law, number of repair attempts, and days out of service. Consult an attorney for actual eligibility.
The same components appear in both official NHTSA recalls and owner-filed complaints — a double-confirmed failure signal.
Worn chain tensioners cause timing chain skip or snap — common on GM 5.3L/6.2L, Ford EcoBoost, VW/Audi EA888, BMW N47/N63. Listen for cold-start rattles.
Water pump failure causes rapid overheating. If the engine overheats even once, head gasket damage is likely — turning a $400 part into a $3,000+ repair.
Degraded transmission fluid destroys clutch packs and solenoids. CVT transmissions are especially sensitive — neglected fluid can result in a $4,000–$8,000 replacement.
Degraded coolant loses corrosion inhibitors and attacks aluminum engine components. Can cause head gasket failure and water pump corrosion.
Worn spark plugs cause misfires that can foul and crack catalytic converters. A $150 tune-up can prevent a $1,200 catalytic converter replacement.
Dirty or failing injectors cause rough idle, reduced fuel economy, and increased emissions. Cleaning costs $100–$200; replacement $800–$1,600.
One failed component has created stress on connected systems. Repair costs compound quickly — a $500 fix can become $3,000+ if cascade damage is ignored.

22 injuries reported across 379 complaints — elevated injury rate for this class of vehicle.
The issue appears to involve the vehicle’s battery system. The issue is abnormal battery drain and corrosion buildup on the battery terminals. The failure results in the vehicle being unable to start without warning. The battery and affected components are available for inspection upon request. This issue creates a safety risk because the vehicle can become inoperable without warning, leaving me stranded. This could occur in unsafe or vulnerable situations, such as being stuck in traffic, in an isolated area, or during extreme weather conditions. The unpredictability of the failure increases the risk, as there is no reliable warning before the vehicle will not start. I've been stranded multiple times. Yes. An independent mechanic can confirm the issue. There were little to no warning indicators prior to failure. The issue primarily presents as unexpected battery drain and corrosion, followed by the vehicle failing to start. Any symptoms that did occur were inconsistent and did not provide sufficient warning of the impending failure.
Dear NHTSA, I am writing to formally report a dangerous design oversight and safety hazard regarding the trunk lid support mechanism on the Nissan Altima. On [Date of Incident], while the vehicle was parked, a gust of wind caused the trunk lid to slam shut unexpectedly. The metal door latch struck me directly in the frontal region of the skull, resulting in an injury that required medical monitoring for potential brain trauma. The current design relies exclusively on torsion bars or gas struts to maintain an open position. These components are prone to wear and environmental fatigue, and they lack a mechanical "positive lock" or secondary safety catch. Consequently, the trunk lid acts as a sail in windy conditions, easily overcoming the lift support and turning the heavy lid and metal latch assembly into a falling hazard for any consumer loading or unloading the vehicle. While Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) focus heavily on internal trunk releases (Standard No. 401), there is a significant gap regarding the prevention of sudden, gravity-induced or wind-induced lid collapse. I am requesting that the NHTSA: Investigate the frequency of "unintended closing" injuries related to Nissan Altima trunk lift systems. Evaluate whether the lift-support specifications for this model are sufficient to withstand common wind gusts. Mandate a mechanical locking mechanism or more robust secondary safety catches to prevent these lids from becoming dangerous projectiles. The passenger airbag system failed, specifically the occupant sensor and the pad beneath the passenger seat. These components are responsible for detecting whether a passenger is present and ensuring the airbag deploys correctly in a crash. I've also been told that I may be at risk of not having my airbag deploy in an accident. My vehicle is available for inspection upon request. I am a single mother. My child rides in the vehicle regularly, and my elderly parents occasionally ride in the passenger seat . Because the occupant sensor has failed, the passenger airbag may be suppressed entirely in the event of a collision. No passenger in the front seat would have airbag protection in an accident, and it's possible I would not either. We have been driving under these conditions for an extended period of time without a remedy. A trusted independent mechanic inspected the vehicle and confirmed the fault. They diagnosed the issue as a failure of the occupant classification sensor and seat pad, and noted that recalibration was attempted. The recalibration did not resolve the problem, and the airbag warning light remains on. I have not yet taken the vehicle to a Nissan dealership for diagnosis. It has not been inspected by Nissan, law enforcement, or insurance representatives. The airbag warning light on the dashboard has been illuminated continuously for many months. The light is solid, not flashing, which my mechanic indicated reflects a confirmed, persistent fault in the system rather than an intermittent issue. There were no prior symptoms before the light appeared.
I was hit by a school bus on the interstate and my air bags didn't deploy. My car is throwing a code that all 4 did.
I am submitting this complaint regarding a defective aftermarket Fuyao windshield installed by Safelite in my 2017 Nissan Altima. This windshield presents a serious safety hazard to drivers, passengers, and the public. Windshield Identification: [XXX] Solar Tint Hazard Description: • The Fuyao DOT-1038 windshield produces extreme glare, light scatter, and optical distortion, making driving hazardous in daylight, low-angle sunlight, and nighttime conditions. • During daytime, sunlight reflecting off vehicles, the hood, and surrounding surfaces produces a snow-like field of intense points of light, severely impairing road visibility. • At night, oncoming headlights generate starburst patterns, temporarily blinding the driver. • Interior reflections from the dashboard amplify these effects. • These hazards are not present in OEM Nissan windshields and have been consistently reported by other vehicle owners and automotive technicians in online forums and discussions involving Fuyao DOT-1038 windshields. (Do a quick Google Gemini search on Fuyao-1038 and optical distortions) Incident: • On March 6, 2026, the glare caused a collision in a Walmart parking lot in [XXX] , where I struck a cement stop post that was obscured by the glare. • While no injuries occurred, the potential for serious injury or death was high. Consumer Pattern: • Multiple drivers have reported similar optical defects with Fuyao [XXX] / AS-1 M147 / FW4160 windshields, including excessive glare, light scatter, starburst effects, and unsafe driving conditions. • These reports indicate a systemic manufacturing or optical defect, making this an urgent safety concern. Safety Standard Reference: The optical behavior of this windshield raises concerns regarding compliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 205 (FMVSS-205), which governs optical clarity and safety requirements for automotive glazing materials. The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. The vehicle lost motive power. The vehicle was driven to the shoulder of the roadway. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact referenced an unknown recall with a similar failure; however, the VIN was not associated with the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was informed that the VIN was not associated with the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000. The VIN was unavailable.
No initial incident created this problem. The airbag light randomly comes on for driver left side airbag. It has never been deployed, nor has the vehicle had any impact or damage. The computer shows fault code B0020-13 (AB Side Module Open). Despite resetting it, the light will only stay off for a while. It appears as occasional short in the sensor but I have been told to replace the whole seat. Several owners discuss the same issue on this car in Nissan forums. I've never gotten the code to show as "active" only "past" but nobody can tell me if this will impact whether the airbag will deploy in an accident.
The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Altima. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V315000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages). The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 MPH, the hood unexpectedly opened and struck and cracked the windshield. Additionally, the driver’s and passenger’s side fenders were damaged. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 134,217.
Just bought a 2017 Nissan Altima SR. Took it for a ride. Attempted to merge into traffic and the car had zero acceleration once I merged and then the transmission seemed to completely disengage. The RPMs week to around 3500 so I quickly had to pull off so as not to get rear ended. Brought the car to a stop and attempted several times to push the gas but the car would not pick up any momentum. I eventually turned the car off and waited a couple minutes. I restarted the car and placed it in drive and the car accelerated like a turtle but eventually got up to 30 mph. I turned around and headed back home and parked the car. Calling my mechanic to see if he has any knowledge related to these damn CVT transmission. Not sure why these cars aren't barred from being resold like they did with the Volkswagon. I feel raped.
The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that the vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V315000 (Latches/Locks/Linnkages) for the hood latch and was taken to the dealer, who completed the remedy on June 3, 2025. After the remedy had been completed, while decelerating and coming to a stop at approximately 20 MPH, the hood of the vehicle suddenly lifted, hitting the windshield, causing it to fracture in many places, with some pieces of glass completely detaching. The rear-view mirror had detached as a result. The contact received many cuts from the glass. The contact contacted the police and later filed a police report. The vehicle was towed to a friend's home. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer, who had not diagnosed the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 242,000.
Check engine light came on will not go off transmission fluid burnt replaced transmission fluid because transmission was slipping out of gear not finding the correct gear I do believe it was starting off in second gear instead of first. Drive slightly better in manual after fluid gets warm but not overheating the car will start jerking and threatening to kill losing power in the accelerator and going uphill also having trouble with the car going into reverse and drive. I had no choice but to replace the transmission fluid myself due to lack of funds and now dealership refuses to touch my vehicle for repairs. I called Nissan to make a complaint and they hung up on me. Car was just paid off October of 2024. This situation with my transmission began November of 2025.
Check engine light came on at approximately 96,000 miles in which vehicle would have a delayed acceleration upon stepping on gas pedal or going up hills. Took it to 3 different mechanics including Nissan dealer and all confirmed a CVT failure and need a replacement. Nissan of America is refusing to help even after there have been documented lawsuits and known issues with the CVT failing. This is unsafe and a recall is needed not just an extended warranty that doesn’t help consumers who are over the 7 years but still under 100,000 miles like me.
My CVT transmission has been replaced three times by Nissan. I am currently on the third CVT transmission and it has failed requiring a fourth CVT transmission replacement. I was in a few different situations each time the trasmission failed that were unsafe. I've been at intersections, trying to accelerate forward when the stop light turns green causing me to stop in the middle of intersections or accelerate slowly through the intersection which is very dangerous. I've been on the highway going normal highway speeds over 60mph when I would lose power and try to keep my speed and my car would stay in the 15mph - 40mph, having to turn my hazard lights on so other drivers know I'm having issues accelerating. The first time I took my car to the dealership, they could not recreate the issue after having my vehicle for 30 days. I received my car back and the engine light finally came on after some time and I immediately took my car to the dealership where they confirmed the CVT transmission was the issue.
The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the front headlights failed to function as intended. The contact stated that the front headlights were dim. The dealer was made aware of the failure. The contact referenced an Extended Warranty Program for the failure; however, the Extended Warranty had expired in 2023. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 87,850
The 2017 Nissan Altima has a delay in acceleration when the gas pedal is pressed. I couldn't accelerate pass 35-40 mph when I was driving. Thankfully it was bumper to bumper traffic.
The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 MPH, the overhead console dislodged from the ceiling and fell downward, striking the driver on the head. No injuries were reported. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic, who determined that the clips attaching the console to the interior ceiling of the vehicle had failed, causing the console to detach and fall. The contact was informed that the console needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The local dealer was not contacted regarding the failure. The failure mileage was 64,300.

As appears to be the case with many other 2017 Nissan Altima drivers, the light indicating the Passenger Side Air Bag is OFF remains on even when adults are in the seat. When the dealership took a look at the issue, they said the Occupant Control Sensor System required replacement, and quoted ~$1,000 to fix this issue. This is a cost we weren't able to bear, and so we have had to use the car with NO functional passenger side airbags for several years. The OCS failed approximately 5 years after the car was purchased. For a safety-critical feature, it is concerning that there is no remedy for the public. This issue appears identical to the OCS problem identified in NHTSA Campaign #16V-244 (Reference #NTB16-054b) from August 25, 2016. It appears that the 2017 Nissan Altima was excluded from this recall, despite suffering the same manufacturing issues.
The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the air bag warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed with a defective air bag sensor and was informed that the air bag needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The dealer reset the air bag warning light, but the warning light returned. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 82,000.

2017 Nissan Altima with CVT transmission losses acceleration while driving.
A few months ago, while at a stop light my car would not acceleration, I depressed the pedal all the way to the floor and there was no movement but rpm’s went up to 4000. I was almost rear ended as I was attempting to go. The car suddenly accelerated at a high rate of speed and drove normal. This occurrence happened intermittently a couple times, and is really dangerous while making left hand turns and almost being hit in the intersection. I took it to a shop to get a diagnostic but the mechanic said that since there was no check engine light or codes he’d “just be guessing.” I have been driving the car for sometime now without any issues. Last week I went an hour out of town and my car suddenly loss power on the highway while going 70 mph. It decelerated to 40 mph and would not go faster. I had to pull off the highway crossing 3 lanes of traffic barely going 40 mph. When I got to the shoulder, I turned my car off and waited a few minutes before turning it back on and the car drove fine for maybe 10 miles before it lost power again. I noticed a loud whining noise while accelerating and a smell of transmission fluid. It took me 2 hours to get home being I had to continue to pull over every 5-10 miles which seemed to reset the transmission. I had it towed to a different repair shop the next day and once again no check engine light, no codes and the car had not shown any reported symptoms, so the mechanics hands where tied but he did say that the CVT transmission in Nissan Altimas have been a major issue and of it is indeed the transmission it would cost 3k-6k for repairs. If this is truly an issue with Nissan’s CTV transmissions then there needs to be a recall and the repair should be covered. The sudden failure of engine mechanics is a safety risk for all drivers and needs to be investigated before Nissan is hit with a wrongful death suit.
The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the driver's side sun visor independently detached. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with sun visor failure. The contact was informed that the driver's side sun visor assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. In addition, the contact stated that the failure impaired driving visibility. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that the engine and oxygen sensor warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the oxygen sensor needed to be replaced. The contact stated that after the vehicle was repaired, the oxygen sensor warning light illuminated again. The vehicle was taken for an oil change and the certified mechanic determined that the spark plugs, and ignition coils needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the #4-cylinder head gasket needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the warning lights remained illuminated. The contact stated that the gear shifter seized, and the contact used a key to unlock the gear shifter. The contact also became aware that the oil level was continually low. The vehicle was taken to a Certified Mechanic again, who tested the cylinders and diagnosed and determined that the cylinders had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 148,000.
Transmission was completely replaced by Nissan 8/2023 after failing. June 2025 transmission fails again is needs yet another complete replacement. Nissan will not assist. Claims "warranty period" expired. BRAND NEW transmission fails in under 2 years and around 10k miles???
When driving down the street car shuts off lights flicker on and off continuously sometimes it don’t turn back on sometimes it does but I usually just coast until it turns back on very dangerous if on freeway or heavy traffic also the brake light and and trac lights go on when this happens. When stepping on gas the rpm’s go up really high like the transmission is going out
One month Insurance policy lapse and license plate surrender license suspension when I was in hospital emergency room bed time .
I need to preface this by stating I fundamentally don’t understand how an issue that directly results in the failure of inspection which dictates road safety/emissions quality and was identified by two mechanics as a part known to fail cannot be under a recall. The part addressed is #14001-3TA1E but more specifically it is an issue with the value position sensor. It is a small part which dicates whether the Swirl or tumble control activates which triggers the P2004. If you look up the code it’s common side effects are as follows: Decrease in low-end engine torque: You may notice a decrease in acceleration, particularly at low RPM levels. Engine surging or sputtering: The engine may run unevenly, particularly when starting up. Sluggishness: The vehicle may feel less responsive to the throttle. Difficulty reaching higher speeds: You may find it challenging to accelerate quickly or reach your desired speed. Rough idle: The engine may run unevenly and potentially stall at low speeds or while idling. 2. Decreased Fuel Economy: The IMRC system's primary function is to optimize the air/fuel mixture for different driving conditions. When it's not functioning correctly due to being stuck open, it can negatively impact fuel efficiency. 3. Check Engine Light (CEL) Illumination: The Check Engine Light (or Service Engine Soon Light) will likely illuminate when the P2004 code is triggered. This is often the first indicator that something is wrong. 4. Potential for Severe Engine Damage: This is the most critical side effect. If the hardware for the IMRC butterfly valve plates becomes loose and falls into the engine, it can cause severe engine damage or even engine failure. This being said you would think it would be an easily replacable part. Not in the slightest you have to buy an entire manifold 1300 msrp through nissan with no gurantee of it fixing the light. I have had instances of stalling / sluggishness since it has come on. This seems imparitive to vehicle safety.
The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and attempting to accelerate, the vehicle briefly hesitated before accelerating. The vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. An unknown warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. Then VIN was not available.
The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while her daughter was driving 25-30 MPH she crashed into a parked 2012 GMC Sierra 1500 that was parked illegally on the road. There were no warning lights illuminated. The air bags did not deploy. There were no reported fires. A police report. The driver hit her head on the steering wheel, sustaining a concussion, and medical attention was provided at the emergency room. The fire department was on the scene. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
I'm reaching out because my 2017 Nissan Altima has developed a serious issue with the passenger airbag system. The airbag warning light turned on recently (about a couple months ago now) and I took the vehicle to a Nissan dealership, twice, for diagnosis. They informed me that the passenger side seat airbag module is non functional and the repair would cost $2,667.29. I was shocked and disappointed to hear this. My car has never been in an accident, is well maintained, and is less than 10 years old. A critical safety feature like an airbag system should not fail without cause, especially in a relatively modern vehicle. After researching this issue, I discovered that other Altima owners have reported similar problems with the occupant classification system or related components. While I understand recalls vary by model year, I believe this issue is part of a broader trend and should be addressed accordingly. I'm requesting that Nissan provide assistance in covering the cost of this repair, whether through warranty extension, goodwill support, or by investigating whether this is a known defect taht merits broader action. This is a safety issue that I hope Nissan will take seriously. I look forward to your response and assistance in resolving this matter. Car loses acceleration while driving. Problems with CVT engine
There has been no accident. The car has 60k miles and I barely drive that car, twice a month, as I work from home. The airbag light appeared all of a sudden. When I check forums, I realize that hundreds of people are experiencing the same issue. There should be an investigation and Nissan needs to issue a recall on these airbags
When I push the start button my car sometimes won't start and it won't go in drive. There has not been any warning lamps, messages or symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. It started about 2 weeks ago, it doesn't always happen, but it's happening more frequently now. I had an emergency yesterday and I couldn't get my car started. After waiting about 10 minutes I was able to get it started, but I was afraid if I turned the car off it wouldn't start again. The problem has not been inspected by the dealership or confirmed by an independent service center. I'm interested in seeing if there has been a recall for this problem
My car is we don't have any problems

My vehicle has 55K miles, and you can not see your headlights shining out front of the vehicle at night. It looks like you only have on running lights. Please note the headlights do not have any problem with lens oxidation.
Warnining light stays on for airbag. Dealership confirmed seat needs to be replaced as airbag is defective and not working. Obviously not drivable unless a board member of Nissan would allow their loved ones to drive a vehicle without an airbag.
Failed component: drivers front coil spring broke. Yes available for inspection upon request. Does not appear to have signs of exterior corrosion. Could effect drivability of vehicle. I think Nissan issued a technical service bulletin for 2022 Altima but not for 2017 Altima. Part has not been inspected by manufacture, police, or any others. No warning indications to driver. Incident occurred pulling out of driveway.
No incident has happened yet. I am finding that there is a lot of discussion about faulty air bags on Nissan Altima's of all years. Mine is a 2017 Nissan Altima and my airbag light is on. There is a lot of discussion online of MANY people having the same issues and Nissan charging an arm and a leg to fix. If it is something that is wrong with so many cars then why is this not a recall? I have not taken it to a dealer as they want to charge over $200 to take a look at something that is obviously wrong with all of these cars. At what point does a recall go into effect? How many similar complaints have you received on this issue with Nissan Altima's?
Sun visor part number 96401-9HT2A needs replaced and Nissan has not had any available for this past year.
When first buying the car last year Jul 20,2023 the check engine light was on and I didn’t know that I had 149,000 miles because it read as 75,000. Every once in a while, while driving the car wouldn’t accelerate while pressing the gas but I wasn’t sure what the problem was because it’s my first car and only happen like ever 3-5 months. September 2024 a little over a year of having the car while driving to work the car kept jerking and the rpm was rising but my speed wasn’t changing. Eventually I turned around to go back home because it wasn’t safe to drive. I pulled over and turned the car off on my way home because I seemed as if it was getting worse once. I tried turning the car back on to go home and it wouldn’t crank up. Also when at red lights or stop signs after I stop the car will not go I will be stuck unless I’m continuously pressing the gas. I lost my job because I don’t have a car to get to and from work nor any money to pay $5,100 for this ridiculous repair. It’s even impossible to find a cheap transmission and install it yourself because all of them are over $1000.
Hello, I have a 2017 Nissan Altima, VIN# [XXX] and a few years ago there was a safety recall on the headlight system. The lights are very dim, they will not get bright after changing the bulbs multiple times and still not a fix. The lights are very dim at night and very hard to see. I tried scheduling an appointment and the Nissan dealership says this recall expired. My [XXX] daughter is driving the car and she keeps asking me that she cannot see with the lights on and working fine. Multiple times she has almost hit something close to the side of the road or another parked car because the lights are so dim but working fine. How can a safety recall expire, if an accident happens and Nissan refused to fix the safety issue and had a recall then Nissan Corporation may be liable for any injuries due to this accident. I just want to get the headlights fixed according to the safety recall but every time I call, it gets disconnected or I cannot get thru to anyone and they just keep me on hold. The airbag light turns on whenever someone else drives the car and moves the driver seat. The light stays on until we clear the code and then starts over again when someone moves the seat. The airbag code said that there was a problem with the sensor in the driver seat and the airbag may not deploy. The dealer wants more than $3,000 to fix this problem but I believe it is a manufacturer defect that affects safety and there should be a recall. I have read that there are many other drivers of 2017 Altimas who are having the exact same problem as I am having.
The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the air bag warning light remained illuminated. The contact stated that there not been an air bag deployment. The local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 65,150.
The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the front passenger’s seat air bag warning light remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic who diagnosed that the front passenger’s seat occupant sensor was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 65,000.
After coming to a complete stop at a stop light, the car fails to accelerate into the intersection. Its hesitation leaves you vulnerable in the intersection and could cause a head on collision or even a T-Bone accident. I feel like driving this vehicle puts the lives of my family at risk. After reading all the very similar complaints I don't understand how Nissan hasn't issued a recall yet. Nissan is leaving themselves open to a wrongful death lawsuit. How can they let this issue continue unresolved?
My passenger occupancy sensor has triggered an airbag off warning light. I took it to a Nissan dealer who told me a part needed to fix it (the module) is back ordered from Japan with an indefinite delivery date. My car as you can tell a 2017 Altima. The 2013-2016 Altimas were recalled for this same problem as well as the 2017 Maximas. I do believe that the occupancy sensor was defective from the manufacturer and should be recalled and that my car's value has been diminished because of this flaw. I am asked to pay for the part in advance not knowing when they will receive it. I cannot have anyone sit in the passenger seat of my car for fear the airbag will not deploy. Please help.
The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while exiting a car wash, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the residence where a handheld diagnostic scanner retrieved DTC code: P0130 (Oxygen Sensor). The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 153,000.
Engine control unit failure
Code has the transmission fluid pressure is bad
2017 Nissan Altima. First time it happened was November 2023. Air bag warning light came on and when reset it stayed off till August of 2024. Another reset and a few days later the light was right back on. Nissan has not been helpful with this problem to find a solution to this problem without big price tag. They want to replace the seat, other components etc. that will cost over $3,000. Other owners are complaining of this as well. Recall only goes up to 2016 models however I feel that the 2017 models probably have the 2016 parts. Time for Nissan to do a recall for this model as well.
My Nissan was bought Used. It has no damages and it drives well. I was told it was in an accident that affected the right side. The doors were replaced.
When pushing on the gas from a stop for a red light, the car did not go. Instead, I get a check engine light solid on the dash. When I read the code for the light it registered as a P-0776. Come to find out, there is a TSB that covers this exact same issue. If there was a vehicle coming in the other direction, there could have been a fatality.
In November 2023 vehicle had an airbag warning light, took to Nissan Dealer. Inspected by Nissan service. Diagnostic and "repair" performed on driver side airbag. 8 months later in mid July -SAME airbag warning light came on. Needed an oil change in a few weeks and was not driving the vehicle due to out of town vacation. Took Vehicle to the same Nissan Dealership on 8/5/2024. Nissan again inspected and we were again charged for a diagnostic and told needed to fix by replacing the entire seat for $3000. When we asked the service manager why it wasn't fixed he stated perhaps the service in 2023 caused "corrosion" or a faulty airbag or faulty electrical. This is an internal issue inside the seat. Dealership would not help fix. Called Nissan Corporate and filed a case. This vehicle has never had any accidents or damage. Half of the national average of mileage. Meticulously cared for and taken only to Nissan for oil changes. Never touched the seat . After owning this vehicle for less than 7 years it has 45,142 miles . Filed a report with BBB a week ago and have not had any response. Was hoping in good faith Nissan would do the honorable thing and replace this seat as this is our family car. We take our children. to school in it. Go to church in it. Drive to family for get together in it. Now we are worried that the airbag may randomly deploy, or not deploy at all. It is a huge safety concern. We are worried that there may be other 2017 Nissans out there with similar issues. And we cannot sell , as we would never want to put another family at risk . Bottom line , Nissan is being negligent. There is a vehicle that clearly has faulty manufacturing / parts - and they do not wish to do the right thing. We do not feel we should be responsible for something that is not our fault. We hope this can be investigated, as this is an extremely popular vehicle - and there may be many more families at risk. Thank you
The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while depressing the accelerator pedal, the engine RPM increased; however, the vehicle would not properly accelerate. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the transmission had failed. The contact stated that a transmission software update was performed, and the transmission fluid was flushed and refilled. The contact stated that after retrieving the vehicle, the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 97,000.
MY AIR BAG LIGHT STAY ON WHILE IM DRIVING
I left for work, acceleration at slow speed around 30 mph within 40 seconds, the car began to gain speed, I let off the gas pedal, still accelerated. I tried slowly using brakes to slow down - no response. At this point, I notice that cruise control light, was lit up, on the dashboard but not set. I'm now gaining speed of 72 MPH. Not even 1 mile, from turn off. I literally fish tailed three times, then the car slowed down and I ended up sideways, in a ditch. Chipped hubcap and some plastic piece hanging, from underneath the car. I had a bystander, whom was headed towards me - stop in fear of what happened. Got the car out of ditch. I parked, checked for leaks, nothing. Since this incident, I'm in fear of this happening again. I'm assumption was the accelerator stuck. No brakes is dangerous, let alone feeling like my life was gonna end. I cried. Thinking Jesus my children were home. I have noticed that both airbag "warning" signs have displayed and won't go off. I would hate to have or hear of a fatality, from this. Please look into other reports. I felt like I couldn't even explain this bizarre, unlikely/impossible event to happen but it did.
The airbag warning light began going off October/November 2023 and was intermittent at first and became constantly on. I took it to the dealership in December of 2023 and they said that the airbag sensor plug had become disconnected under the front passenger seat, they said they reconnected it and the warning light was out. It was also stated that this is a common issue when items get under the front passenger seat. In May 2024, the airbag warning light again started to come on intermittently and then became consistently on. Took the car back to the same dealership which diagnosed the fault as an airbag sending unit in the passenger seat. The dealership stated that there was no way to tell if the airbag would operate as intended. The repair would require a new seat as Nissan does not make a replacement airbag unit and would cost $2800. If this, by the dealership's own statement, is a common problem with an important safety feature it would seem that Nissan should be responsable for making any vehicle affected safe.
The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that on two separate occasions, the center light console located on the roof in between the front driver and passenger seat had fallen off while driving at various speeds. After the initial failure, the vehicle was taken to a dealer where the console was repaired free of charge. The contact stated that almost two years after the initial failure, the same failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and the contact was provided an estimate for the repair. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and informed the contact that there were no recalls or warranties on the vehicle. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline to file a complaint. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle was jerking, inadvertently shifting between gears, and then lost motive power. The contact was able to drive a short distance to the residence with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or local dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 136,960.
my transmission went bad at 80,000 miles it is a 4 cylinder cvt and my car shudders when shifting and at random times when i press on the gas from a stop the car slowly rolls forward. my safety is at risk because if it happens when I'm turning onto a road or major road it can cause me to get hit because the accelerator doesn't work at random times. it is because my transmission is slipping. But i don't understand why because i have taken great care of my Nissan Altima. this issue needs to be fixed with Nissan before someone gets seriously injured or killed. the least Nissan could do is help pay for a new transmission.
The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while the driver’s side seat belt was in use, the seat belt warning light remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed; however, the cause of the failure was not yet determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
Loss power on the interstate would not excell at all no warning lights on very dangerous with getting hit by several cars
The vehicle airbag light malfunctions and stays on. It can cause the airbag to deploy or on deploy in a crash. This is an issue with many 2017 Nissan Altimas.
In January 2024 my airbag light came on, I had purchased an extended warranty and the dealer replaced the Drivers Seat back assembly. April 2024, same airbag light came on, dealer diagnose it being the passenger seat back needing replaced this time. No longer covered by my extended warranty, wanted over $1000 to repair. This is obviously an ongoing issue and should not be a responsibility of the owner, this is a costly repair but more importantly a safety hazard!
Was driving and when we stopped and was ready to pull out the car wouldn’t move. The gas pedal was all the way to the floor after several seconds it shot across the road a then wouldn’t get above 20 mph. The rpm gauge shot all the way, pegged out. Drove for a few miles and pulled over. Turned the car off and then it took off just fine. Shortly afterwards it bogged down again and would get over 20mph again. Something needs to be fixed right away
Nissan had a extended warranty on their headlight assembly. I didn't know this until 2023. I than went to Riverhead Auto Mall and had it tested, they said it passed This was on 11/28/2023. Finally based on my disbelief they agreed to have it retested pro bono at Nissan 112. It did fail the test in May of 2024. I have a daughter with a condition that requires me to drive her to and from work in inclement weather. At night I can barely see and I am putting ourselves and others at risk. They are now claiming the warranty ended in 2024 and they want me to pay half of the replacement cost. My contention is that if the first dealer had done the right thing I wouldn't be in this position.
The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while driving at approximately 15 MPH, the interior dome light assembly detached from the ceiling of the vehicle and fell striking the head of the driver. No injury was reported. The vehicle was later taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the interior dome light assembly clip had failed, and the entire assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 42,000.
Last week, the air bag warning light came on in my 2017 Nissan Altima - the very same day as the recall was published about the recall on older Nissans - but my vin was not among those recalled - I called the dealership and was told it would have to be replaced at my cost - I have done nothing to cause this problem and do not feel I should be responsible for repairs concerning this matter - I regularing service my car and this is not among the items that require regular servicing .
While driving the care for a minutes to an hour. While stopped at a light or stop sign, the car does not want to accelerate. It takes about 3 sec for the car to finally go. When it does finally moves the car takes off and the RPM goes all the way to about 5 or 6 then drops back down. I will have to pull over and turn the car. I guess it restarts it self and I am good to drive again until it happens again. No check engin light come on.
I own a 2017 Nissan Altima. This vehicle has been having similar issues that other owners have reported with the vehicle failing to accelerate after stopping or sitting ideal while running the and you go too take off, barely moves to a crawl even if the gas pedal is to the floor. It will also loose power (speed) without warning while driving. The vehicle will not register any warning lights when this occurs not even a check engine light comes on when this occurs. It does not register any issues in a diagnostic test to which one was completed by a Nissan dealer in Lebanon Pa. (Moyer Nissan). Because of this the Service advisor/mechanic indicated that they would be "guessing" as to what the issue was even though it is clearly a issue with the 2017 models; it hasn't been the first time I'm sure that someone came to that Nissan dealer with the same problems and knowing that the 2017 have complaints with CVT Transmission. I'm no mechanic but I think it is a blatant disregard for human life if that they do NOT recall this vehicle or at the very least replace all equipment (transmission; throttle, pertaining to the accelerator) at no expense to the owner.
Subject: Urgent Complaint Regarding Nissan Altima CVT Transmission and Emergency Brake System Failure I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the recent failure of my Nissan Altima's CVT transmission and emergency brake system. This unexpected issue has jeopardized the safety of myself and others on the road, and I urgently need assistance in resolving these critical issues. The failure was confirmed by a trusted, who emphasized the seriousness of the situation. Without warning signs or symptoms leading up to the failure, the safety implications are even more concerning. I kindly request immediate action from the manufacturer to investigate and provide a solution to ensure the safety of all Nissan Altima owners. Additionally, I seek assistance from insurance representatives and other relevant parties in addressing this urgent matter, including guidance on replacing my transmission. Your prompt attention to this matter is greatly appreciated, and I look forward to a swift and satisfactory resolution. Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Transmission: this is the 2nd transmission in about 22,000 miles. Car will start to stall out and then high rev the rpm’s. This has caused significant power loss suddenly in traffic. Issue has been recreated by mechanic and has been inspected thoroughly. Previously transmission was rebuilt with the torque converter being replaced. No indicator lights have come on prior or during sudden loss, only check engine light once. Shutting off vehicle for approximately 5 or so minutes resolves the issue but only for a limited amount of time.
Airbag light came on randomly. Dealership says the unit needs to be replaced. 2900 dollar cost. No reason light came on, airbag was never deployed. Clear safety risk driving the vehicle if the airbag would not deploy.
The car has problems changing gears which also came with a weird sound. Eventually the car wouldn’t excel when pressing the gas, eventually the car stop working all together. This problem started at 95,000 miles and each service center I went to claim their wasn’t a problem until 107,962 miles it completely stopped and now I’m paying for a car that I can not drive and Nissan knows their is a problem but won’t fix it under the warranty.
The CVT transmission stopped working there was no warning or anything it just stopped. There was no warning light or anything, we took it to a mechanic and they confirmed that the transmission went out. I called the dealership where i bought it and they said they can’t do anything and i have no warranty. We were driving on the interstate and it just randomly stopped working which was incredibly dangerous.
The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was not functioning as intended. The contact stated that while depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle stalled. In addition, the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The contact stated that the failure continued and became persistent. The contact stated that due to the failure, the contact was almost rear-ended by a semi-trailer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was taken to several independent mechanics and was diagnosed with transmission failure. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 108,000.
The car had been acting odd and the dealership would not listen. I then noticed an engine light come on after my incidents. My transmission was failing in traffic!!!! I need a new transmission, I have had the diagnosis at Nissan. It needs a total replacement , $6000. This was right in the extended warranty period and Nissan refused to fix this at 100 % like they are supposed to My safety was at risk because I was on the freeway and my car was slowing down and joking around.
The contact's mom owns a 2017 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while his mom was at a stop light, a one-ton truck crashed into the vehicle. The driver attempted to reverse from the intersection. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact had previously reported an incident for acceleration and throttle issues. While his sister was driving and reversing, the vehicle was slow to accelerate. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The driver sustained facial injuries, and her forehead and eye were bruised. The patient was taken to the hospital for an MRI and ocular examination. The contact called the same local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was towed to an auto body shop. The insurance company informed him the vehicle would be towed to a salvage yard. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed. There was no reported fire. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 73,501.
low beam headlights extremely dim
Took vehicle to get an oil changed & was informed that air bag light was on. Driver side air bag light came on with no warning & noticed now that the air bag seems deployed in the seat. Shop inspected & reset computer but could not find issue.
Check Engine light is on and has been diagnosed twice at different Nissan dealerships. Once the car stops, it hesitates to accelerate. I have to press the gas more than once and then it zooms off. Cleaning the Mass Air Flow Sensor and Throttle Body worked for 3 days and light went out. I am back were I started with slower acceleration than before. Today I drove with my emergency flashers, after cars started honking at me for not moving. I have 3 kids with me most of the time and fear being rear ended. The car is being towed back to the dealership since its no longer safe to drive. This is a Safety Hazard due to the possibility of being rear-ended.
CVT transmission has gone out and it is a road Hazzard. The vehicle doesn't accelerate, jolts, and sputters. There was no warning or reason for a well maintained car under 97k mileage to be having this issue. Upon further investigation it is a common problem with Nissan but nothing is being done to get these cars fixed and off the road before there are bigger problems.
Airbag light came on with no previous conditions that should have caused that. Dealership in Dothan, AL originally said a bad connection under the passenger seat caused it. They supposedly cleaned the connection and reset the light. The airbag light came on again days later. The same dealership now says the entire passenger seat and airbags sensors/connections will have to be replaced at $2500+ out of pocket costs.
Driver search airbag warning light illuminated Took vehicle to authorized Central Houston Nissan whi SCANNED VEHICLE AND FOUND DTC B0020-13 STORED IN AIRBAG SYSTEM. PRINTED AND FOLLOWED THE ESM DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE AND PER ESM WILL NEED TO START REPLACING THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG MODULE WICH IS PART OF THE SEAT ASSY This is of no fault of my own and not the result of normal wear and tear. My car is not safe to drive and will not pass state inspection due to this safety hazard. Without costly repair which is not covered by Nissan, airbags will not function properly and pose significant road and passenger safety hazard
UNKNOWN; Someone rear-ended me Monday, Nov. 27, 2023 and damaged my driver side taillight/corner of bumper. It was an impact of about 20mph, and believed to be a result of black ice/the other driver following too closely. Today, Saturday, December 2, 2023 the airbag warning light appeared. It didn't come on with Monday's impact, so I am concerned that it could suddenly deploy while I am driving.
Multiple times the car will brake while triggering the forward collision warning, sending the car into a limp mode of 40mph. This occurs at a stop sign/light, or while passing a car. I had the part replaced and the problem continues.
The inspection i change lamps the head light 2023 this year my car Still no warning the police officer
My airbag malfunction light came on randomly. Never have I been involved in an accident. I have only had this vehicle for 2 years. I took it to Nissan dealership in Chandler AZ to have it inspected. They told me the recalls for Nissan Altimas only go up to 2016, mine is a 2017. This puts me, my passenger and my children at risk and it is not safe to drive. I have a teenager that was trying to learn how to drive with his permit and now due to this issue, it is not safe for him to do so. If there were recalls prior to the 2017 Nissan Altimas, obviously the 2017s are affected as well. Someone needs to address this issue asap.
When I am driving this vehicle, I get to a stop sign or red light or even stopping at a drive-through window and when I need to go the car will not accelerate I have to shut the car off and turn it back on to get it to accelerate and go. This keeps happening and is very dangerous especially when I have my children in the car. The car also has trouble shifting into gear and jerks when I get onto the hwy. The car dealership last year told me it was nothing that they could not locate any issue with the vehicle. No symptoms prior to failure of the car sometimes it does it and sometimes it doesn't
When driving my Nissan I had stop at light/ stop sign.My car notify me with a check engine light. It wouldn't accelerate in a matter of seconds I was able to continue driving. I notice it happens every time I have to stop at lights and or stop signs frequently. It first started at about 85,000 miles. I bought it at 65,000 miles I still owe for the car I took it to Nissan and they told me that it no longer had a warranty for the transmission. It has alittle over 100,000 just think that if there's alot of consumers complaining about the same issue it needs to be investigated and stop selling it until the issue is corrected.. In my opinion..
When operating my Nissan Altima 2017 I was alerted with warning lamp annd it notified me to check engine and then it went away. The car started to jerk, also the car rpm’s went up and took it awhile to reset while at a stop light…I then parked the car and when I tried to start it, the shift would shift to drive and reverse but the car wouldn’t move…so I towed the car home and after almost 3 weeks I was able to save money to tow it to a Nissan dealership and they confirmed I needed a new cvt transmission…quoted me 7,800 for replacing and labor fees. I have read about the 2017 Nissan settlement after doing a lot of research on the vehicle, I need help with the next steps. Cause that price to fix it isn’t affordable for me while making car payments still. Car is still in my possession currently, just have to pay it to be towed back to my residence
I experienced My 2017 Nissan Altima having a delay accelerating after I stop at lights then it took a couple of seconds of my foot pushing down on gas petal to get going with it taking off very fast! It happened 3 times in a 2 week timeframe, then on Sunday, 9/17/2023 my daughter was driving and I was the passenger and it happened 4 separate times in 1 hour! I took it into Nissan in Salem, NH , (where I purchased the vehicle), on 9/18/23 and it isn’t giving a Code so they say they can’t fix it until they get a code by replicating it! That is unacceptable because it happens sporadically so unless you give me a loaner car so they can drive it all the time that to see it happen. So right now my car is at that service place! I need a “loaner car” and for Nissan to FIX this problem NOW or I will be force to file a lawsuit and I will make sure everyone I know doesn’t buy a Nissan!
I purchased my 2017 Nissan new and have always serviced it according to recommended guidelines. It has 31,103 miles on it and my airbag light came on and was blinking. I took it to Faulkner Nissan and was told I would have to pay 179.00 for diagnostic test which showed 2 codes one 00 for blinking light and 12 which online states requires a reset but I was told I need a new seat back assembly which would be $2700.00 and not covered under warranty. I have never had an accident and never had them deploy. This sounds bizarre to me considering the age and condition of the vehicle but am now seeing this same issue on multiple sites and feel this should be recalled due to the nature of the safety concern. I also requested a copy of the diagnostics and my request was denied.
The transmission failed as I was entering a highway and accelerating. The speed went from 45 mph to 0 in a matter of seconds. Once the car died, I could not put it in any gear, drive or reverse, and get the car to move.
Lights just came on . Never had accident.
Called Nissan to advise them of how dangerous it was to drive my car because the transmission was not responding. All they read to me was it is your problem Nissan cannot repair your vehicle. I advice them of this problem way before my vehicle had 100k miles.
My vehicle had 46,765 miles on it when the airbag warning light came on. I contacted Nissan dealer in Oak Ridge TN (where I purchased the vehicle 1/18) and the stored code they found was B0020-13. I had purchased the extended warranty and my paperwork showed 72 months with replacement vehicle provided and 100.00 deductible. I was told they had to clear it through finance prior to ordering the part. I waited 5 days and had to contact Nissan to see if they were going to fix it. I was told it was approved and they had the part (but failed to contact me). When I asked about a replacement vehicle as I had already gone 5 days without a vehicle as I felt it was not safe to drive I was told unless the repair took over 4 hours it did not qualify for a replacement vehicle. They replaced the Left seat back/side air bag assembly. My concern is it was over 2200.00 for the part not including labor on a car that had less than 50,000 miles. I was lucky I had purchased the extended warranty so my out of pocket was 100.00. However, I should mention that the warranty at the time of purchase was 2,100.00. Had I driven the vehicle and been in an accident one of my airbags would not have deployed. This is a safety feature and should not need an extended warrranty to cover repair.
My car only has about 113,000 miles and the CVT transmission is completely ruined. It’ll cost me over $3,200 to repair, and this is a very common and known issue to Nissan. See other Class Action Lawsuits.
AIR BAG LIGHT is on and Dealer diagnosed and could not identify the problem Nissan dealer of Rolla charge me $145. Dealer irresponsiibly reset the airbag code ( erase code) and return the vehicle that there is no issues. But AIR BAG Light came back on in few days. It is showing code B0020 but with no additional information. Dealer is not taking responsibilty on faulty airbag system and it is recurring issue of 2016 Nissan Altima Air bag recall. You need to force the manufacturer to address this issue before safety is comprised. Nissan does not know the issue with AirBag problem of 2017 Nissan Altima
I changed the transmission fluid at 60K on my 2017 Nissan Altima SV. At 70,500 miles while driving on the highway my car started slipping, jerking off wears. I had no warning lights or signs that it was overheating. We pulled over for 30 minutes and continued. We were 45 minutes from home. It didn’t take long before it started again. The car would come out of wear and it would only run at 40mph going up hills. Once we got off the highway, the car wouldn’t go into gear. We didn’t make it home. I called my local Nissan dealership and they informed me I had no warranty at all. We had the car towed to a local transmission repair shop. My transmission was done. I put in a used transmission in for $3,300. 2 months later I get a notification from Nissan that the cvt transmission warranty has been extended to 84000 miles or 84 months, whichever came first. I called Nissan consumer affairs and they basically said, you repaired your car on your own there’s nothing we can do. Nissan has class action lawsuit which the time limit that has already expired. I still filled my paperwork proof with no answer what so ever. I can assure you I will not buy another Nissan vehicle again!
The airbag malfunction light has turned on, this puts me at risk as a driver. The airbag assembly on the drivers side has failed. It has been inspected by Auto Nation Nissan in Chandler, AZ. This car was not involved in any accident. I was simply told the airbag failed.
I was driving on the freeway 8/1/23. There was a bit of traffic so my speed varied. I was attempting to accelerate at one point and the car wouldn't go any faster than about 60 mph. I started hearing a sqealing / screeching noise too. I was scared my car was about to stop. I didn't know if I should pull to the shoulder or just continue to my offramp. I managed to get off the fwy and make it home a few miles away with some lurching / jerking. On 8/3/23, the next time I drove the car, I was trying to pull my car out of my garage for a mobile mechanic to look at. It wouldn't reverse, and was just still when I pressed the gas. It wouldn't do anything in drive but rev. The mobile mechanic got there and managed to drive it a bit and I heard it making a super load noise and saw the car lurching and jerking He told me the transmission was bad. The car is not safe to drive. It has 52,000 miles on it and I have barely drove in the 4 years I've had it. I spoke to Nissan Consumer affairs and they told me to take it to the dealer for a diagnosis. The car got towed to the dealer to see if it qualifies for the Nissan extended warranty for CVT transmissions. I am afraid to drive the car now. I thought I was buying a solid car. I didn't think I could go wrong with Nissan mechanically at such an early stage in the car's life.
The airbag light came on solid. I got it checked at the dealership and they informed me that my driver side airbag module which is located in the side/rear of the driver's seat needed to be replaced. This would include changing the entire top section of the driver's seat. Quoted me at $2,850 with tax. They said that none of my airbags would deploy if I was in an accident due to this one faulty module. The dealer mentioned that this is a very common occurrence they see a lot with the 2017 Altima. Based on research I've done so far, this seems to be a universal fact, many have this issue. I'm not sure why this isn't considered a recall, I hope this report leads to an investigation. My Altima, as many others report, is in great condition otherwise and all recommended maintenance and service is done according to the manufacturer. This doesn't seem like something that should be the fiscal burden of the consumer.
Was driving and came to a stop. Went to accelerate and car stuttered and acted like it didn’t want to accelerate. This is not the first time, but it was about a month ago when it last did it and almost caused me to wreck. Car is only at 99k miles.
Driving down the highway at 12AM the vehicle lost power and slowed immediately to 20MPH. I pulled over, shut off the engine and waited 5 minutes. Restarted the engine and the vehicle ran fine. Recently while driving the vehicle I have noticed delays of 2-3 seconds in throttle engagement before acceleration. My son, Preston Hodnett was on the freeway and the vehicle slowed down to 10MPH. He pulled over, turned the vehicle off and restarted the vehicle and was able to return to normal freeway speeds. This occurred with no check engine light at the time. The vehicle is a 2017 with 65.4K miles. The manufacture is saying it is a transmission issue and will take $6.2K to repair. I cannot afford the replacement cost and this is a continued known issue with Nissan vehicles and the Nissan representative advised a transmission shop separate from Nissan that they cannot replace my transmission due to a current lawsuit with consumers in the state of California. In my opinion, this vehicle is endangering me and my family and this appears to be a class issue. The first issue occurred over two years ago and then went away entirely. Recent issues have arisen that resemble or exceed the first incident which are causing severe safety concerns. No warning lights were present during these issues.
The rear O2 sensor failed on my 2017 Nissan Altimas with only 29,900 miles on it and it cost me almost $400.00 to replace it.This is a part that should easily last for 150,000 miles. The failure of this part affects public safety by causing abnormally high emissions if not replaced. This failed component is identical to the recall issued in 2022 which covers the rear O2 sensor for 2013 - 2016 Nissan Altimas for 20 years or 200,000 miles. 2017 models should be covered under the same recall as it is the same problem and same part (even the same part number) which was covered under the 2013 - 2016 recall and I hope the NHTSA will pursue this on my behalf.
The airbag light turned on and will stay on. The car was taken into the dealership for inspection and diagnose the problem. The vehicle has only 36,000 miles and it has not been involved in an accident. The dealership advised that the front driver side airbag module needs to be replaced. The price quoted for this is over $3k. The service advisor advised that even with replacing the part that we may need to replace further parts due to this problem. Nissan consumer affair was contacted, and they have denied helping with this problem due to the vehicle being out of warranty because of the age of the vehicle. Airbag may or may not deploy and that does NOT make me feel safe when driving.
My nissan altime 2017 has 35000 miles on it. My car has never been into any accident. The Airbag warning light was on June 2023 and I sent it to the Cost Mesa/CA dealer to check (if there was no issue identified, they would still charge $200 for examination; but if anything need to be fixed/replaced, the $200 would go to part of the repair fee). They reported that the battery was low and caused the issue. They replaced the battery ($280) and reset the warning light. But now, one week later, the airbag warning light is on again and I will sent it to the dealer to check again. Nissan should check/recall their 2017 Alitma airbag system given some many filed reports. It is hard to not relate this airbag problem with the airbag recall on previous 2013-2016 Altima models.
April-May, Key fob not being recognized so changed the battery in key fob 4 times. May, Driving at 55MPH on I495 beltway, pushed on gas and did not get gas. Immediately put on flasher and drifted to right curb. Dashboard was still lit. Turned the car off. Within minutes restarted the car and went where I was going. I had AutoZone run a diagnostic and they said the car was fine. Drove another couple of weeks before it happened again. This time the car would not restart and I was stopped in a very dangerous location so I had AAA tow it to my residence. The next day the car started. I drove another two weeks before reoccurring. I was able to drive it home and it has been parked. There are never any warning, check engine light, etc. A Nissan mechanic told me the symptoms I told him sounds like an issue with the sensor mobilizer. I Google searched and found a recall for the Nissan Rogue but not the Nissan Altima. I did a VIN report and it showed 0 recalls. I definitely have a serious safety issue. Without warning the car gets no response from the gas pedal.
I got this car 2 weeks ago and 4 days after i got it, I was driving on the free way when it started lunging forward and slowing down. There was a car behind me that almost hit me because the car was malfunctioning. This problem caused danger to me and others on the road.
I was driving my nissan altima when the recall hood latch let my hood open.Yes my car is available for inspection. I was driving on public road when the hood open with out any warning. It stop me from see the road and cars in front of me. Yes they replaced the recalled hood latch again. They did not fix the damages that happened to my car but give me the run a round. Now my windshield is broke, both finders are damaged and the hood is dented. Sutherlin Nissan in Cherokee County is where they replaced the recall hood latch and told me to get quote from ny body shop of choosing and send to Nissan Consumer affairs and they told me that Sutherlin Nissan should have runned it thru warranty. No warning lamps or messages appeared before the hood open.
Nissan has a very serious safety concern that if not remedied I will have to take action elsewhere. My 2017 altima lags and sputters randomly. I was almost hit today when I turned from an intersection and the car slowed down in the middle of the intersection. I demand more information about this issue and how to fix it within reasonable price range. The dealer couldn't find a problem. This is a huge problem that could cost many people their lives and money I do not have right now.
Both front springs broke at 30k miles.
The seat belt light stays on even when I have mines on and nobody is sitting in the passenger seat and the airbag light goes on and off for no reason
I was at work, the car was parked and off for more than 4 hours, came out and my car was on fire. Passenger driver side, at that point me and coworkers were rushing buckets of water and dumping them on my car. The fire department investigated and it was the cooling fan wiring that caused the fire.
The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while stopped at a traffic light, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate. Additionally, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact smelled an abnormal odor. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who informed the contact that the transmission had a defective solenoid. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 137,000.
Nissan of Cerritos knowingly and with malice sold me a defective car. The car has a delayed acceleration issue. It is the most helpless feeling to be in such danger everyday due to this ongoing CVT defect. My life and passenger lives is in danger because I never know when the issue will occur.
Headlights are continuing to get Dimmer. I was never notified by Nissan regarding the replacement campaign
My car is periodically not accelerating at a stop when I push on the gas pedal.
CVT Transmission issues The car looses power starts high RPM and will not shift then accelerator fails to respond altogether causing car to suddenly slowdown in traffic. This is second time this has happened; first occurrence was on 3/27/22. the dealership reprogramed the cars computer that time. 4/23/23 This time I had to have the car towed back to the dealership.
Transmission jerk and stalling
Air bag light continues to turn on, possibly making side air bag inoperable. The dealership tells us that dirt or debris getting under the front seat can cause the airbags to malfunction.
The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while making a left turn and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to accelerate as needed. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, but the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.
I was driving my 2017 Nissan Altima SV, today on 3/3/23, and had just got on to a busy highway. I had my foot on the gas pedal trying to get to 60 mph. However, the car wouldn't accelerate past 40mph and was making a humming noise, even as I floored it. I looked to see if the car was in another gear but it was in drive. I had to pull the to slow lane and try to find a place to turn off. I came to an intersection where I had to stop, and again, couldn't accelerate to the 60mph that other traffic was traveling. It would only go about 40mph. People were changing lanes to pass me in busy Friday afternoon traffic. I finally found a shopping center to stop as I didn't want to get on the freeway to get home. I stopped the car but ended up eventually getting on the freeway and didn't have the problem again for the 15 miles. No check engine light came on at all during the acceleration problems. I have been researching the problem and the car may have gone into limp mode. I am taking the car to the shop tomorrow. I don't drive the car a lot, and it doesn't have a lot of miles on it, so I'm very surprised and terrified now to drive the car. I've been reading people with Altimas saying they have had a hard time getting a diagnosis for this problem because it doesn't occur sometimes at the shop. It's distressing to think this problem may come and go and I could be in 70mph traffic on a busy freeway, which I often am. I have not been in an accident, so no inspections until tomorrow when I go to the mechanic. This if the first time this has happened and I had no indication there could be a problem. I have barely been driving my car for the past two years as I have been working remotely. I bought Nissan 100% because it had a good reputation, but now I'm reading about this weird and potentially deadly problem.
Passenger Air Bag light is on and is available for inspection. Concern: Safety of Passenger if air bag will not deploy. A Nissan dealership twice turned it off but the light keeps returning. Originally Nissan said the sensor was unplugged. The second time they didn't comment but the light was off when car was returned to me. I was happily not charged on either visit. The light first came on in January 2021 and I had less than 28,000 miles on the car and my car has never been in an accident. Please note there was a recall for a faulty air bag sensor on 2016 Nissan Altimas. My Altima was on the assembly line in 2016 but is a 2017 model. I requested help from Nissan's home office but was directed to your website. Since my car was on the assembly line in 2016, why isn't it included in the recall? Nissan will not honor the recall for my car.
Air bags have stop working
From a stop the car is delayed when trying to drive for 5 secs then takes off like a slingshot. I see a lot people have been complaining about this issue with no resolve. Last Nissan I will ever purchase.
The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where the warning light was reset; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where the diagnostic codes were cleared, and the vehicle was test driven; however, the failure persisted. A Nissan warranty inspector recommended the replacement of the front driver's side air bag module, the driver's air bag and the air bag sensor. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle could not be repaired under the warranty unless the driver's side air bag module completely failed. The failure mileage was approximately 29,000.
Headlights are dim. I am aware that there is a settlement in place where Nissan extended the warranty to 6 years. My car is in this warranty period. The headlights are dim and getting worse, I have taken it to the Nissan dealership and they test them and note that there is not a problem, but it is difficult to drive at night and it is a safety issue.
After stopping at red light, Vehicle could not go more than 10mph. Stop the vehicle, turn off and restarted, now Vehicle could not go further or reverse. Luckly, at the intersection, i did not get into accident. My Altima is at 65000 miles. Nissan Altima CVT had an issue and need to recall for this fix. I saw Nissan did recall up to 2016 Altima, some reason, they did not include 2017 Altima. Please take a look into 2017 Altima data from Repair and Dealers shop to find out how much consumers are paying out and got into safety issue.
235/45r18 there is a malfunction on this car the tire pressure keeps going out and blowing my tire also the car was giving to me with ran down tires which I was told was dangerous the company imperial auto mall switched the tires and said they was good but the car blew completely out while driving with my kids I alerted the company they did nothing to fix I reported the problem to different companies so they can fix but I was brushed off every time
In mid December LF airbag light went on. Dealer found no issues cleared the code and problem recurred in 2 weeks. Dealer states airbag has to be replaced and if problem recurs then the module needs replacement. Repair for replacement airbag is 2625 and module according to the dealer would also be 2500 estimate. Wrote to Nissan since it appears this problem is fairly new and widespread some remediation should be offered
The driver side airbag warning light appeared on dashboard approx 2 months ago. I took it to Piazza Nissan for service, where a 27 point vehicle inspection was performed. I was told the airbag needed to be replaced, as well as the LF seat back assembly. The parts would cost just over $2000.00, and with labor would be just over $3000.00. I was also told there is a national backorder for the parts, and the dealer would call me when they are available. The airbag does not work on the front driver’s side of the car anymore. My car has never been in an accident, the airbags were never deployed, and I have regularly had all of the maintenance checks done at Nissan dealers. I do not understand what would cause this problem except for faulty parts.
I was driving on the highway and lost all my speed it dropped from 70 to 30 on the highway had to pull over and shut my car down. I restarted it, and my RPMs went up but were not moving. After this happen I have been in almost 15 accidents. The stops and then happens again. I hear like a winding noise when I try to keep a safe distance from people on the highway. Now all of a sudden my car is shaking and feels like my tires are going to fall off they are not through. No lights came on before this happend.
After coming to a complete stop at a red light or stop sign, there is a delay of acceleration. It takes 3-4 seconds to even respond to me depressing the gas pedal, with no change in RPMs or response in the first 3-4 seconds. Then, the car accelerates very quickly like a sling-shot. This is dangerous particularly in stop-and-go traffic. I have videos of the issue. The dealership stated that they cannot replicate the problem in their shop so it can’t be fixed. This might cause an accident and this seems to be happening to multiple other Altima drivers but there is no recall. This has been occurring for over six months and three trips to the mechanic/dealership with no resolve.
Airbag is off and airbag indicator light is illuminated. The vehicle has not been in any accidents and Nissan states that this is an airbag issue (known). They refuse to warranty it even though the unit is under 100k miles. The dealership confirmed that the SRS Airbag system is not operational. A Google search for this provides many 2017 Altima drivers with the same issue and Nissan is not fixing this.
Airbags deployed with no collision, so I had an inspection done with Nissan, and they reported that there was no malfunction. It does not make sense because airbags are not supposed to deploy mid-driving without anything hitting them. I was at risk, and other people on the road were put at risk of an accident. If I were on the freeway instead of a rural road, there would have been a higher risk of an accident and people getting hurt and causing an accident from the airbags deploying. I was lucky enough to be on a rural road where I was not going as fast, so people could avoid hitting me because I had slowed down very abruptly; I thought I got hit when the airbags deployed from the loud noise that the airbags made when they deployed. Previously my vehicle has been serviced at the dealership for any issues it had prior, and it was in excellent condition. After removing myself from the vehicle in the middle of the road, I checked around the vehicle, and there was no other vehicle. I also went around my vehicle and checked for any damages; there was no physical damage, and it was exactly how it was before. I had two witnesses walking on the sidewalk that came towards me and talked to me, we had a police officer come check out the situation and talk to me; they were puzzled as well. Called my insurance company, and they will not cover airbags deploying on their own. I also have a police report as well. I checked for any recalls, and there are no recalls obtaining my vehicle via my VIN number. The VIN number and recall check was done by me through the website and Nissan consumer affairs. I got bruised and hurt and went to the emergency room the following day. There was no other warning signs on my dashboard prior.
The transmission. The scar started to slow down in the middle of the Highway. No warning lights ever appeared. Car was always serviced and well cared for. Car was checked by dealers to see what was going on and the transmission went bad. My life and children’s was put at risk! This was such a scary moment
I was driving for work and all the sudden the airbag light came on and stayed on. Was told I had an Error Code B0020 and that the LF drive side airbag needed to be replaced. It will be 3000 to fix, or I have NO AIRBAGS working in my car to drive my family. The car has been serviced every couple months since purchase. No accidents.
loose steering at highway speeds and going around a curve on the highway also have clunking from the rack and pinion but the dealer says the clunk is normal but it doesn't feel normal
Headlights are to dim to see the road at night. Very dangerous. This has gotten progressively worse. When researching I found their are class action lawsuits about this issue. While there does not appear to be an official recall, I was not notified of the lawsuit and wonder why there is not an official recall.
The locking mechanism on the rear passenger door has broken twice. The electric switching mechanism does not lock or unlock the door. Has to be done manually. Additionally the child safety lock also had to be replaced on the same door. Causing the door to only be able to be opened from the outside. Both are potentially very dangerous in the emergency situations.
On September 14, 2022 at about 7: 30 PM I attempted to shift from park to reverse and the gear shift would not move from park. I reset the park brake and released it once again thinking perhaps the brake did not fully release but it would not go into reverse. The gear shift was locked. I restarted the car and did everything I normally do and still nothing. I wiggled the shift after making sure I pressed the release lock on the shift at the same time and made sure the break was not the cause. Finally the shift released and I was able to put it into reverse. The next morning the same thing happened. I am taking it to the shop for an evaluation. My concern is that this situation is happening more than consumers are reporting and I suggest that NISSAN should look into having a recall for whatever the fix is to correct this so that wear and tear is not what it is considered as. As a result I would like to know what can be done to better address this inevitable problem with the gear shift
The transmission failed at around 44,000 miles. It started losing power on the Highway causing it to lunge forward at times and die out while pulling out and slowing down. Eventually the reverse gear stopped working . It would stall above1,000 RPMs and only operate at low speeds. Nissan knows good and well about this issue and does nothing to offer monitory assistance of replacing the transmission and not much of A guarantee on A replacement only A year warranty . They should be pulling these hazardous cvt transmissions out and pull these cars off the market before someone gets killed. The cost of replacing this transmission is over 5,000 and that’s only A limited 1 year warranty.
I was driving in the highway, and suddenly my hood flew open. I could not see I had to slow then and pull over to the side. Because of the hood coming up it cracked my windshield and the hinges damaged both sides of the front fenders. I have been trying to get an appointment for the recall at multiple Nissan service centers since January of 2022. This incident happened in December , it is now September 06 2022. I am sitting at a Nissan service center and they are telling me they are not responsible call the insurance. As I explain to the agent the insurance is not going to fix it due to the problem caused by a recall. Now the agent is telling me that I will have to make another appointment and it will be 8-9 months before they can get to it.
While driving down the highway at 70 mph approximately 23 miles from my house, my car began to jolt and the RPM on the instrument began to fluctuate up and down. I heard the sound of the car braking, but I was not on the brakes. There was no warning light (engine light was not lit at that time). I was able to drive the car 23 miles back to my house with it jolting and with the sounds of sudden braking. I was fearful that the car would stop on the road. I took the car in to a local repair shop on 07/29/22 because our local Nissan dealership was backup for two weeks and could not check it out. While driving I experienced the same problems then the engine light came on. My car began to rumble and shake. I was able to drive it to have it to have it checked out, not without some hesitation when putting the car in drive. The technician checked the OBD and it gave him a transmission code. I drove my car to the local Nissan dealership and they informed me several days later that the transmission has gone out and cost $6500 to repair. Of course the extended warranty is out. There should be no way the transmission should have gone out at 78,000 miles. I have a 2010 Nissan and have never experienced transmission issues and it has well over 120,000 miles.
The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while driving on the highway, the vehicle inadvertently accelerated and then independently decelerated. The contact stated that he was able to drive the vehicle back to the residence. The contact then stated that after he turned off and restarted the vehicle, the check engine warning light illuminated, and the gear shifter failed to engage. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was out of warranty. A case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 118,000.
Follow-up to issue #11479380 Just 6 days ago, I filed a complaint regarding acceleration issues with my 2017 Nissan Altima. Unfortunately, yesterday (8/20/2022), I was involved in an accident with the car as a direct result of these ongoing acceleration issues. I was the driver in the driveway of a friend’s house and as I tried to pull closer to the house (to perform a K-turn in a tight spot), with my foot (lightly) on the gas pedal, the car suddenly surged forward and hit the house. A passenger and I both experienced minor injuries (no medical attention required), and both the car and the house now require repairs. I’m in touch with both my insurance and Nissan about this accident, but no longer feel safe driving this vehicle (which is now pending repairs due to this accident). I wanted to post a follow-up since there was an accident directly related to this issue.
The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the driver-side heat would shine dimly without warning while in use. Due to the failure, the contact would have to use her high beam headlights to safely operate the vehicle at night. The contact had reached out to the dealer and was informed that both headlights would need replacement to repair the vehicle. The contact was informed that the parts were on backorder; the vehicle had yet to be serviced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and was given a case number. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
I own a 2017 Nissan Altima. It has 57,000 miles. About a week ago, I started the car after it was parked overnight and the air bag light illuminated and stayed on. This vehicle had not been in an accident and I am the only driver of this vehicle. I took the vehicle to a Nissan dealership. They diagnosed it and I was told it would be a $3,000.00 repair (although I have not seen a copy of the diagnostic findings). I did get a copy of a partial listing of the parts involved which included: pressure detection sensor, curtain module assembly, side air bag module assembly, air bag pressure detect module and to replace the left seat back frame assembly. Unfortunately, my extended warranty does not cover air bags. I am wondering if my car should have been included in the air bag recall that included the 2016 Nissan Altima. It is difficult for me to understand how my 5 year old car with no accidents has an airbag system that needs such and intensive and significant repair. I'm not a mechanic by any means, but I would think it should be no more than a faulty sensor causing the light to come on without a cause.
I've been experiencing ongoing transmission problems with my car for over 2 years now. The most common problem is when I come to a complete stop, then step on the gas, the car hesitates for about 5 seconds and then takes off very quickly. This happens intermittently, usually after the car has been running for about 15 minutes (or more) although I have had it happen after running for shorter periods of time. If I turn the car off and back on, it does solve the problem temporarily. I can't even count how many times this has happened to me - probably more than 100. My biggest concern with this issue is when I'm at a multi-way stop sign with at least 1 other car at the intersection. It may be my turn to go and I'm trying to go, but other cars may perceive that I'm waiting to let them go. I've taken it to 2 different dealerships and they have not been able to replicate the problem, but most recently, I did send one of those dealerships a video showing the problem. My first report to a dealership was on 6/24/2020 and I've reported it several times since, but they have not done anything to fix it since they were not able to replicate the problem themselves. I sent a video on 7/17/2022 but have yet to hear a response from Nissan. Another issue I've had is general loss of power or inability to shift out of low gear (which has only happened a handful of times, i.e., less than 5 times). For example, merging on a busy highway with a short merge lane and my car had very little power to merge in a small window. And once merged, the car wouldn't shift past 2nd gear, limiting my speed. The second example, I was stopped going up a hill and when I stepped on the gas, I had no power, then it seemed to have a little power but would not shift out of first gear. In both instances, I pulled over and turned the car off and back on and it was ok again. I listed a date below but this is an ongoing issue.
Delays in acceleration. When operating the vehicle. At a complete stop. When I depress the gas pedal there is a few seconds delay before the vehicle starts to accelerate. No warnings appear on dashboard. No check engine light, no visible indication of problem.
Class action suit letter received that on car headlights would be replaced as they are very dim. North Plainfield, nj Nissan has said for past 4 months they are on back order. Dangerous situation and I believe they do not want to spend money to comply with class action suit.
Delay acceleration at stop sign/red light : car moves very slow after pressing the gas paddle, engine revs 3-4K. It is really a safety issue when it comes to left turns with incoming traffic. Car move slow after complete stop with pressed gas paddle.
At around 85,000 miles transmission (CVT) started slipping at high speeds (60-70 on the highway). As time has went on, it now slips in every gear, jumps, shudders, and often times will leave me stranded. Now I cannot travel more than 15-20 miles and the car starts acting up (transmission slipping, not engaging, will nto shift gears, etc.) Contacted Nissan and they say it is not under warranty but it is a 2017 and they now include a 7 years warranty on all CVT's.
Know issue by Nissan with 2013-17 Altima. I experienced Pedal throttle delay response with no engine acceleration. They have identified the issue in the vehicles , but will not fix. I just took my vehicle to the dealer today and they said that they could not find anything wrong. I found many online forums and Nissan documents outlining the issue just as I have experienced. Nissan service bulletin NTB16-110L
After being stopped, waiting to turn left at an intersection, pressing on the gas pedal produced no acceleration for several seconds. This is not he first time that this has happened and could easily lead to an accident.
My problem began about a year to a year and a half ago. When I come to a full stop, and I press the accelerator pedal down, the engine does not rev, the RPM’s do not go up and the car does not move for about 3-5 seconds, and then the car just starts accelerating rapidly all of a sudden. This problem has been persistent and very random. It has occured countless times and at first I thought oh, that’s weird, maybe the car was just on an incline but that was not the case because it kept happening over and over. This problem has become more persistent and it is very scary, as whenever I am trying to turn left at a green light at a busy intersection, there have been times that I was almost hit by an on-coming car because my car would just roll for about 3-5 seconds, regardless of how far down I pressed the accelerator pedal, and then it would very rapidly accelerate all at once. I do not know what the issue could be, there has never been a check-engine light, nor any errors or codes. My mechanic can’t do anything for me as they do not know what the problem could be. I urge you, can you please, please help me with this by issuing a recall, or contact Nissan on me and many other Nissan Altima owners behalf as there is a lot of evidence that this problem is very wide-spread. My car currently has 47,000 miles on the odometer, and I have done regular maintenance as required in the owners manual. I simply do not know what to do, and I also do not want to keep driving a car that potentially puts my own life, as well as other road users at risk. Please I urge you to look into this problem and contact me as soon as possible. At this point I would really like to resplve this issue as soon as physically possible.
While driving down the highway at 70 mph, the transmission went out, no warning lights nothing. Vehicle RPM starting spiking then down to zero, engine sounded like it was in neutral, and the gas pedal being pushed. Got off the road and car would not go in drive or reverse, just stopped, had to have towed in. Cost $5000 to repair. Have owned many Altima’s and never a problem, this was awful.
Transmission failure at 78,000 miles.
Passenger seat belts does lock all the time. Front brakes I've had issues with since day one. Dealer tells me on 3 occasions there fine nothing wrong but have gone thur 5 brake pads sets. Now when I step on brakes or give gad to go it's like the throttle cable or something isn't working because it won't go. Have to either give it afew than try paddle or put in N than back to drive. Happens alot in traffic.
The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle sputtered and hesitated during acceleration with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with transmission failure. The dealer informed the contact that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000. The VIN was unavailable.
After I am sitting in park or at a stop light my acceleration delays when I try to take off and gives an abrupt jolt to take off. It doesn’t happen all the time, but started in the last few months.
The transmission on the vehicle failed to work causing me to be unable to accelerate while driving the vehicle. This put me in danger as I was driving on the highway and almost got hit. There were no warning signs prior to the issue occurring. No check engine light or anything came on.I called the Nissian customer care line and was told I needed to bring it in and pay money to get it looked at for them to decide if they would help me. I took it in, paid a substantial amount of money just for them to tell me they would not help. My case is not an anomaly. After researching online, thousands of individuals are having the same issue with their Nissan Altima transmissions after owning the vehicles for only a relatively short period of time. This is dangerous and irresponsible for Nissian to not take responsibility for a clear flaw in design that has put users of their vehicles at risk.
Car power train started to go out at 88K miles. Started with a coolant leak issue as it mysteriously drained on my way home from work. Seemed to “fix” itself as a month went by after I was told by 2 auto shops they couldn’t find a coolant leak. Car then started to overheat and not hold coolant at all. Took it back in, was told again “no coolant leak”. Keep being told the same thing over and over again. But I am the one buying coolant and putting it in almost daily. No warning light for low coolant came on nor did check engine light kick in. Didn’t notice car started to overheat until I couldn’t feel cold air anymore coming out from AC and looked at the car temp gauge. Car is now around 100K miles and still being told “it’s just water leaking out”. Car does not drive like it supposed to. Warranty ended at 85K miles and when it first happened I asked and begged them to replace everything and was told no even though mileage wasn’t even far from 85K at the time. Car now jerks when stopped at a light or beginning to accelerate again after coming to a stop.
This incident happened many times on the highway and normal streets, when I stepped on the pedal for gas not responding, and I needed to wait almost 40 seconds, and looked like I had lost power, like the transmission not working correctly
The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the air bag warning light illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer to be diagnosed and was informed that an unstated wiring harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 88,000.
The armbar connected to the front driver's side tire locked up during a left turn and then disconnected from the tire. I had no control over the steering and the car was still moving. I had two choices, run into the curb to stop the car or go over into a ditch about 30 feet down. When I ran into the curb it busted the tire and damaged my front bumper. I could've been seriously injured, injured someone else, died, or killed someone because I had no control over the steering. This is very dangerous and I have seen a few other people report similar instances like mine. the vehicle is currently at the Ancia Nissan in San Antonio and waiting for my insurance company to look at it. The mechanic said it may be totaled but he wasn't sure. There was no warning signs or anything. I am going to get to the bottom of this our lives were put in danger and I don't want this to happen to anyone else.
There is a headlight system error that pops up on dash
Since October 2021 I have been taking my car back and forth to the Nissan Dealer Bob Bell in Baltimore MD for a check engine light. They fix parts each time and the light still came back on . As of today this will be my 6th time taking the car back. I don’t feel safe driving it and don’t know if this light caused other issues that may put me and other drivers in immediate danger. I have anxiety that it may break down on the road while driving and I won’t have a way to get out of harms way. I don’t know what else to do. It’s my only means of transportation.
I was in the middle of an intersection turning left, and the car stalled and I was almost hit by oncoming traffic. The car has problems accelerating and shifting gears. It will get up to 4 rpm's and not shift. This has happened several times, and is a safety risk . Fortunately, I was never hit. Nissan says I need a need CVT transmission. There's a class action suit filed for this model and the CVT transmission. However, since my car is 103, 000, Nissan will not replace unless 85,000. This is a manufacturer defect that needs fixed ASAP before someone gets in a terrible crash!
Driving 2017 Altima (48000 miles)in the city Airbag light came on and stayed on.
HOOD LATCH RECALL 2017 NISSAN ALTIMA SR- CAUSED ACCIENT AND TOTAL DAMAGE TO MY CAR!!! 1.24.22 my 18yr daughter was getting on the on ramp to interstate 75 south, accelerating to merge onto the interstate. The hood flies up, breaking the windshield, hitting the roof, where the interior light falls smacking my daughter in the face, causing her to veer off the road, where she took out a reflector on the side of the ramp, where it damaged my front end and the car then sliding to a crashing stop over a steel grate or utility box in the ground, where it snatched the under carriage apart- my car is totalled! I have since filed a claim with Nissan and gap insurance apprasier should come to the house tomorrow. I really feel like we need a lawyer. Please let me know your thoughts. I work nights at the hospital from 7p to 7am. I can be reached by text or email as well. I have reported this to Nissan file number is 45641261, I have spoke with several reps since the accident and no one seems to want to do anything and has referred my case to a reginal dept., but I work nights 7p-7a and during the days I am sleeping, they leave a voicemail to notify me of there call and that's it! same customer number to call back into to have the same cycle repeated! I have GAP insurance on the vehicle and have an appraiser coming to the house tomorrow between noon/2am. no POLICE WERE CALLED, I DID A POLICE REPORT ON LINE- I DID NOT GO THRU MY INSURANCE AS I FEEL THIS SHOULD BE SOLVED BY NISSAN! I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY DEDUCTIBLES FOR REPAIR TO MY CAR ON A RECALL! THIS ACCIDENT HAPPEND WITH OUT WARNING! NO WARNING SIGNS!!
I have a clunking from the rear of my 2017 nissan altima when going over bumps and the front end of the car is also very unstable going around curves at highway speeds, the clunking is heard after going over bumps or dips in the road and it's the same noise that generated recall p9324 and I have attempted to get it fixed at the dealer to no prevail
Twice in one day, one hour apart, the xar would not accelerate, then accelrated wildly. First time, pulling onto a road from a stop, it hardly sped up, I put the pedal to the floor, and it did not increase speed as expected, in fact hardly at all. I was trying to merge with oncoming traffic so this would have caused a wreck if there wasn't as much space between me and the oncoming traffic. I kept trying to accelerate, pushing the pedal, letting it out, pushing it again, and it continued to not accelerate as expected. I then pulled off the road to let traffic pass and see if it revved in park, and it sounded fine. After traffic cleared, I tried again, and thia ti.e it functioned normally. I drove about 50 miles, stopped somewhere, and ha no problems. When I left that place, trying to pull onto the road and merge with oncoming traffic, it happened again. I once again tried to push the pedal further to speed up, and at first it would not, but then it SUDDENLY accelerated and I fishtailed in a busy road. Luckily there was not an accident. I let off the pedal and gained control, and it drove normally after that.
The transmission on my 2017 Nissan Altima is stalling. It stall when I accelerate and in the middle of driving. This is a safety issue and has caused me to be in a recent accident.
The BACKUP CAMERA LENSE has become blurry and makes it harder to recognize objects. My vehicle has only 38K + miles on it. I own a 2017 1/2 Nissan Altima SV.
I was on my way to work on Saturday 12/18 and as I was making a left turn my steering wheel locked and I actually hit a curb hopped it and went back into traffic. My axel broke on left hand side and blew my tire. Thankfully my children weren't in the car and a police officer happen to see the whole thing. I couldn't get my steering wheel to turn or come unlocked. That was very dangerous, and I could have been seriously injured and someone else also. I didn't get any warning lights or anything to this was going to happen. Clearly from the complaints this has been ongoing and there still hasn't been a recall to get the issue fixed or resolved. My insurance company will be looking into it.
On Sunday December 12th just north of Birmingham on I-65 there was a foreign object in the lane (appeared to be a fairly large piece on concrete). It was between 8-9p thus dark. Due to the amount of traffic driver could not swerve to avoid the object. The object bent the front driver wheel which resulted in needing to replace the driver front wheel and tire (OEM Nissan Wheel and cover, third party recycled tire). The object in the road could have caused far worse damage and bodily injury. We do not have a receipt for the $60.00 used tire.
The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.
The transmission seems to be going. Car will not accelerate accordingly and randomly slows down in traffic. Holding the accelerator to the floor on a small incline I could only reach 44mph. I live in an area that has no shoulders and this could be a very dangerous situation.
The car delays to accelerate from a stopped position. While sitting at traffic lights you can press the gas all the way to the floor and the car will not accelerate for a few seconds and then slingshot you forward. After this happens the car will not change gears and revs to 5000 RPMs while in the middle of traffic. If you can safely pull off to the side of the road and turn the car off for a few seconds and restart it, the car resumes to function normally. This is extremely dangerous, especially when making left hand turns with children in the car. In my research, this a known problem to Nissan and there has been no recall.
The system failure is the airbag I'm not sure if it is a malfunction or what. It started as staying on when I start car then would go away. Then I notice it just come up and would stay on. I made appointment for dealership to take a assessment and they would not look unless I pay ahead to have it seen. I don't feel safe to drive my vehicle that this could be a serious matter. It has been a while now about 3 months now.
Hello I’m not sure how to actually go about this. Just looking for a little clarification or guidance, I purchased my 2017 Nissan Altima from a dealership March 2020. Two weeks ago the airbag popped on that it’s no longer working and I’m not understanding why I haven’t been in any accidents or anything. It doesn’t make any sense to me that I took the car to Nissan and it cost 1700 just for the part that’s not including labor. Is this happening to all Nissans and where do I go from here? That’s a lot of money just for parts.
1. Air Bag: Car was released from towing company to Progressive as total loss vehicle. 2. Component did not deploy when hit by an 18 wheeler. 3. Unknown, being in the crash as well as post crash visual evidence proves non deployment. 4. Total loss was declared and car was released to Progressive. 5. No warning or error was present in dashboard.
I am driving for about 40min my nissan stop accelerating. I can floor the gas pedal. It will not increase speed. My speed starts to decline . I can't go faster. I have to put my hazard lights on and coast to get of freeway. No check engine lights no warning. I have taken it to nissan to get updated soft ware. Still no warnings no codes. I paid 150 for them to tell me nothings is wrong. Clearly something is wrong.
The transmission without any advance issue or problem began to shimmy and shake the entire car . The car slowed down to less than 10 mph while jerking forcefully . The car is and was serviced regularly at Nissan in Murfreesboro Tennessee. There was no warning. Nissan was called and they picked up car on roll back. They said transmission failed. This was at mileage less than 100,000 actual mileage was 93,404. The invoice number is 6088347/1 dated 5/16/20. This happened in traffic and is a definite safety issue. Nissan should not be permitted to continue building and selling these faulty c v t transmissions, continuing to put our life’s in jeopardy and financially devastating us. Your form will not allow us to put the date of incident 5/15/2020 the form will not change from sept 2021 you might want to fix this.
The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Altima. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V315000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages). The contact called the local dealer, but they failed to respond. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
Transmission stopped working while driving the car, at relatively low mileage. No warning lights. Car would just no longer accelerate.
I allege odometer tampering. I purchased the vehicle on 03/21/2021 with 74,826 miles. I found a smog document in the car which reflects the vehicle was smogged on 02/06/2021 with 75,526 miles.
The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that the airbag warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure but was unable to assist. The failure mileage was approximately 67,000.
I went to buckle my sons seat and as I went to tighten the belt the seat belt came completely out of buckle. And will not stop doing it everytime I go to tighten his seat its clean no debris i checked that but when i go to tighten it pops right out Its very unsafe and I fear that if a accident ever happened he could be ejected out the car now.
My airbag light came on 2 weeks ago. I took it to Nissan and was told I had no error codes, but if the airbag light came back on to bring it back. The light came on again yesterday. I returned to Nissan to be informed that the airbag has to be replaced. Meaning the entire passenger seat has to be replaced because that is where the airbag is located. Nearly $2,000 to repair it. All of the 17 Nissan models have the airbag recall except for the 17 Altima which is what I have.
At certain times the front impact radar will say it is blocked or not functioning. Twice it has actually applied the brakes with nothing in front of it. Now the air bag light is on and will not go off.
Transmission problems Brake system is horrible, constantly have to replace brakes and rotors Powertrain and other problems I've made several complaints to Nissan, I have put so much money in this car! Compressor went out almost 7 months after I purchased this car. I would give Nissan a 0 rating on the 2017 Nissan Altima
MY 2017 ALTIMA SR IS AGAIN EXPERIENCING A DELAY WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. IT REVS UP TO ABOUT 3500-4000 RPM’S FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS NO MATTER HOW FAR DOWN THE PEDAL IS. ONLY GETS UP TO ABOUT 20 MPH THOUGH. THEN IT WILL FINALLY GO. THERE IS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND NO CODES. IF I TURN THE CAR OFF, IT'S LIKE IT RESETS AND HAS MORE POWER AFTERWARDS. THIS HAPPENED 14 MONTHS AGO AS WELL. I HAD TO SERVICE THE TRANSMISSION AND IT WAS OK AFTER THAT. NOT EVEN 18,000 MILES LATER AND IT IS DOING IT AGAIN.
The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while the vehicle was in for routine maintenance, it was discovered that the hood could not be opened. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who confirmed that the vehicle was included in the NHTSA recall campaign number 20V315000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages) however, no repairs were performed. The manufacturer was not yet notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 78,000.
Had to replace rear brake pads at 21,100 miles…very odd to have to replace at such a low mileage. Also, the major issue I’m having is with water leaking into my car…the dealership first said they thought it was due to clogged sunroof drains….they were wrong…took it back after issue still happening, and now they are saying that the sunroof drains are deformed…the water is coming in from under the dash onto the passenger side of the floor and going to the back. Also, leaking from the top edge onto the passenger seat. There also is some water on the driver seat, and the driver’s seatbelt feels damp. Under both the passenger & driver’s seat there is rust….this car was brand new when I got it. The car has heated/power seats. I’m concerned that this water damage may cause other issues down the road..including safety issues. Rust and mold are not good. There also is a bad odor.
1).Sometimes I can smell exhaust gas inside the car room like in my previous car Nissan Maxima SE 2008, which is extremely dangerous. 2).The rear camera works no so well - sometimes rearview disappearing completely. Also, approximately a year ago, I received a letter regarding Nissan Altima SV 2017 recall(s). I contacted several different Nissan dealers in Miami but nobody knows about the recall. Could you explain please what is going on with recalls? Thanks.
The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while driving at low speeds and making a left turn, the vehicle stalled. Additionally, while accelerating from a complete stop, the vehicle was slow to respond. There was no warning light illuminated. The rpm increased to 4,000. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where the failure was undetermined. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 46,700.
Speakers randomly stop working during a drive. No longer will come. Back on. As well as the door button to unlock the vehicle on the door handle on the driver side doesn't work at all and constant stereo issues. Stereo doesn't always provide connected devices current song playing.
Car was parked luckily but when door was shut the sunroof exploded like a volcano
While driving, my car seems to lock up, for instance, I was driving down the highway, doing 70 mph, and my car suddenly locked up, slowing me down to 55 mph within seconds, before it finally unlocked. Also, while I was breaking, the car accelerated, almost shooting me through a stop sign.
Car purchased 5/21/2021 Experienced delayed acceleration twice after stopping, after approximately 2-4 seconds vehicle picked up momentum..Approximately 7days later engine light came on. 6/5/21 tool vehicle to Auto zone for diagnostic check received code P0776. Then took it took certified mechanic 6/7/2021 received same code report stating that belt is worn in the transmission and will eventually fail.
WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE RAPIDLY VEHICLE HAS LONG DELAY, EVEN WITH PEDAL PRESSED ALL THE WAY DOWN, AN INTERMITTENT DELAY AT A FULL STOP, WHEN TAKING OFF VEHICLE HAS A 5 SECOND DELAY, GURGLING SOUND COMING FROM TRANSMISSION DURING IDLE, RPMS REV WAY HIGHER THAN THEY SHOULD WHEN ACCELERATING, JERKING FROM TRANSMISSION WHEN AT A SLOW ACCELERATION THROUGH PARKING LOTS AND SUCH, DELAYED ACCELERATION ALSO CAUSED ME TO ALMOST HAVE A WRECK, PULLED OUT INTO TRAFFIC AT A SLOW ROLL BECAUSE VEHICLE WOULDN'T GO AND THEN VEHICLE TOOK OFF FULL SPEED
DELAYED ACCELERATION MY 2017 ALTIMA IS EXPERIENCING A DELAY WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. IT WON'T REV OR DO ANYTHING FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS NO MATTER HOW FAR DOWN THE PEDAL IS. THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT'LL GO. THERE IS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND NO CODES. IF I TURN THE CAR OFF, IT'S LIKE IT RESETS AND HAS MORE POWER AFTERWARDS.
MY VEHICLE PRODUCED A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. I PAID $1300 FOR A NEW MASS FLOW SENSOR AND MODIFICATION TO MY AIR FLOW. TWO DAYS LATER, I DROVE OUT OF TOWN AND THE CAR LOST POWER. RPM WAS JUMPING AND CAR STARTED JERKING AND WOULDN'T ACCELERATE. TOWED IT TO NISSAN AND THEY COULDN'T FIND A ISSUE! OBVIOUSLY THERE IS A ISSUE BECAUSE EVERYONE I'VE KNOW HAVE A NISSAN BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH THEIR CAR AND NISSAN HASN'T DONE NOTHING ABOUT IT! I PAID $1300 FOR A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, WHAT MAKES U THINK I'M GOING TO PAY $4000 FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION. THIS MY SECOND ALTIMA AND SAME ISSUE!
I HAVE A 2017 NISSAN ALTIMA SV, 4CYL, 2.5L... I AM HAVING WORSENING PROBLEMS WITH ACCELERATION. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO PULL OFF FROM A RED LIGHT FOR EXAMPLE, IT WILL HESITATE FOR ABOUT 4,5 SECONDS, RPMS INCREASE THEN A SURGE OF ACCELERATION. ALSO, WHILE DRIVING IT WILL LOSE SPEED WITH MY FOOT ON THE GAS, EVEN WITH THE RPMS UP AS IF IT WERE MOVING FASTER.. THANKFULLY THE DRIVERS BEHIND ME WERE ATTENTIVE OR IT COULD HAVE CAUSED ME AND OTHERS A GREAT DEAL OF DAMAGE, LIKE WHEN I WAS TRYING TO ACCELERATE FROM A CROSS STREET TURN LANE. IT WAS SPORADIC AT FIRST; I WENT TO VALVOLINE AND GOT REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION FLUID, AND THE GUY TURNED OFF THE ENGINE LIGHT. IT STARTED UP AGAIN A FEW WEEKS LATER, AND I GOT A NEW AIR FILTER AND WENT BACK FOR A FUEL SYSTEM CLEANING. ANOTHER GUY RESET THE ENGINE LIGHT AGAIN, AND NOW(ABOUT 3 WEEKS LATER)IT'S BACK WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. SOMETIMES, I'D PULL OVER AND TURN OFF THE CAR AND IT HELPED A BIT. NOW(YESTERDAY) THAT ISN'T HELPING AND THE SLOW ACCELERATION AND SPEED HAPPENS EVERY TIME. I USED THE DIAGNOSING TOOL AT AUTO ZONE WHICH READ, "P0776-PRESSURE CONTROL SOLENOID B PERFORMANCE OR STUCK OFF". I AM SEEING THAT THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE EXACT SAME THING, AND EVEN A RECALL ON THE MODELS UP TO 2016 REGARDING THIS, BUT 2017 AND AFTER SEEM TO BE GETTING IGNORED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AT A RED TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE VEHICLE STALLED AFTER THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING WAS LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO NISSAN OF MISSION HILLS (11000 SEPULVEDA BLVD, MISSION HILLS, CA 91345) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE SENSOR FOR THE BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,000.
VEHICLE KEEPS SHIFTING INTO SPORTS MODE WITHOUT ACTIVATING IT
THE AIRBAG LIGHT IN THE DASH CAME ON AND STAYS ON.
CVT TRANSMISSION IS JERKING, STALLING, SHUDDERING, AND HESITATING WHILE DRIVING. CAR ONLY HAS 65K MILES. ISSUE HAS BEEN HAPPENING RANDOMLY FOR ABOUT A WEEK. I DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE DRIVING IN THE CAR ANYMORE BECAUSE I FEEL THAT THIS MALFUNCTION CAN EVENTUALLY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.
WHEN I DRIVE MY VEHICLE SOMETIMES THE HOOD LATCH OPENS I DON'T KNOW WHY? VERY SCARY WHEN DRIVING ON FREEWAY
GEAR SHIFT GETS STUCK IN PARK.
ALL THE SUDEN I WILL START MY CAR AND GIVE IT GAS AND WILL NOT MOVE AS IF IT WAS BEING FORCE TO RUN. THIS HAS HAPPEN MANY TIME AFTER THIS DAY.
THE CAR DOESNT GO, IT STUTTERS, AND THEN SUDDENLY GOES. TAKE A LOT OF TIME TO CHANGE GEAR, IN SMALL HILLS DOESN'T GO UP, THE RPM AND SPEED JUST GO DOWN. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF. NISSAN DEALERS SAYS IT IT OUT OF GUARANTEE. A NISSAN ALTIMA 2017, 85K MILES AND ITS OUT OF NISSAN GUARANTEE ALREADY, AND THAT THEY CANT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. UNBELIEVABLE. SADDLY FOR ME THE CARE IS ALREADY PAYED OFF, THEY HAVE ALREADY ALL THEIR MONEY, SO NO NEED TO FIX MY PROBLEM. ALSO WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR, IN A NISSAN DEALER, THEY GAVE A FAKE CARFAX OF THE CAR, THEY OMIT AN CRASH REPORT, ALSO THEY ADVERTISED THE CAR FOR A VERY MUCH LOWER PRICE THAN THEY SOLD IT TO ME, THEY PUT A LOT OF FEES ON IT THAT THE PRICE WAS 2K OVER THAN THE ADVERTISED.
THERE IS A DELAY IN ACCELERATION FROM A COMPLETE STOP. STOPS FOR RED LIGHTS, STOP SIGNS AND TURNS ARE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS THE ISSUE OF DELAYED ACCELERATION OCCURS RANDOMLY AND WITHOUT WARNING.
NISSAN ALTIMA 2017 LOUD RATTLING FROM PASSENGER REAR SUSPENSION. VIBRATION OR TRAVELING OVER BUMPY CONDITIONS WOULD CREATE RATTLE NOISE. VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 16,000 MILES AND DEALER STATED THAT BOTH REAR SHOCKS NEED TO BE REPLACED. AFTER RESEARCHING MULTIPLE NISSAN FORUMS HAVE DISCOVERED THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM NOT ONLY WITH ALTIMA MODELS BUT WITH MAXIMA AS WELL. DEALER STATED DUE TO YEAR IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND RECEIVED REPAIR ESTIMATE FOR OVER $800. DEALER CHARGED $50 FOR DIAGNOSTIC EVEN THOUGH I TOLD THEM WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. HAD SHOCK MOUNT KIT REPLACED ON PASSENGER SIDE AT ANOTHER REPAIR FACILITY FOR LESS THAN $200. LOUD RATTLE IS NOW GONE BUT SHOCK WAS NOT REPLACED AND IS STILL MAKING SOME NOISE OVER BUMPY CONDITIONS. DRIVER SIDE IS CURRENTLY NOT MAKING ANY NOISE BUT PROBABLY WILL FAIL EVENTUALLY. CONTACTED NISSAN AND THEY WOULD NOT CREDIT ME FOR REPAIR COST I INCURRED AND WOULD ONLY COVER HALF OF THE COST IF I TOOK VEHICLE BACK TO DEALER TO HAVE BOTH SHOCKS REPLACED. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED BY NISSAN DUE TO HIGH FAILURE RATE ON PARTS WITH MINIMUM MILEAGE. THEY SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR 100% OF COSTS.
CAR STOPPED WHEN ON STOP LIGHT WAS IN MOTION AND NEVER CAME BACK HAVE TO TOWE THE CAR . SOME TIME IT START AND SOMETIME NOT . SO IT'S SCARY IF YOU PRESS THE BRAKE AND STOPS AND SOMEONE FROM BEHIND CAN HIT YOU .
WAS DRIVING AND THE STALL WHILE I PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC ACTING LIKE IT DON'T WANT TO GO
THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING, DOES NOT MAINTAIN A SOLID SPEED, INCREASES AND DECREASES SPEED ON IT OWN, WHEN STOPPED THE VEHICLE WITH NOT GO WHEN THE GAS PEDAL IS PRESSED, IT WILL TAKE A FEW MOMENTS AND THEN ACCELERATE AT A REALLY HIGH SPEED OR FORCE. THE WINDOWS RANDOMLY STOP WORKING, THE LIGHTS FLICKER ON AND OFF, THE STEERING COLUMN TIGHTENS AND THE VEHICLE RANDOMLY SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING IT ON THE ROAD. IT WILL DISPLAY THAT THE KEY IS MISSING AND TURN OFF. IT HAS TAKEN SEVERAL MINUTES TO RESTART THE CAR. THIS HAPPENS DURING IDLE AND IN MOTION, ON THE HIGHWAY OR IN THE CITY.
WHEN I WAS DRIVING MY CAR AND STOPPING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND WHEN I WOULD START TO DRIVE AGAIN THE CAR AT TIMES HAS A PROBLEM WITH ACCELERATION AND ALL OF SUDDENLY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON I SCANNED THE ENGINE CODE AND IT SHOWED A PO 776 TRANSMISSION PRESSURE CONTROL SOLENOID B PERFORMANCE OR STUCK OFF THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE BUT WHEN I TURNED IT OFF AFTER 10 MINUTES REST THE CAR WILL START TO DRIVE AGAIN BUT WITH VERY SLOW ACCELERATION AND THE RPM WAS VERY HIGH WHEN THE CAR WAS ONLY MOVING AT 20 MPH, MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT THIS HAPPENS TO A LOT OF THE CARS OWNERS BUT THESE NISSAN CARS NISSAN SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION THEY BUILT KNOW FULL WELL THAT THESE TRANSMISSIONS ARE NO GOOD ,CURRENTLY THERE'S NO RECALLS ON THE 2017 NISSAN ALTIMA SV WITH THIS ISSUE I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER NISSAN AGAIN TILL THEY FIX THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS COSTING THE CUSTOMERS MONEY AND NOT FIXING THE PROBLEMS WITH THEIR BAD TRANSMISSION THAT THEY KNOW ABOUT SHAME ON NISSAN THE TRASH VEHICLES OF THE CENTURY ONLY GOOD FOR A SHORT TIME THEN IT JUNK AFTERWARDS
MY 2017 ALTIMA HAD BEEN JERKING, ALMOST FELT LIKE THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING. THIS WOULD OCCUR AT RANDOM ACCELERATION CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STALL FOR BRIEF SECONDS BEFORE IT WOULD ACTUALLY ACCELERATE. ON TOP OF THAT VEHICLE HAS NOW STARTED A LOUD WINING SOUND THAT GETS LOUDER WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE. THE CAR WILL NOT MOVE FOR SEVERAL SECONDS AND THEN GRADUALLY IT WILL BEGIN TO TAKE OFF. THIS HAPPENS AT EVERY STOP OR SLOW DOWN MADE. MY CRUISE CONTROL NO LONGER WORKS EITHER. SEVERAL TIMES IN THE PAST I HAD ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE NOT WANTING TO SHIFT OUT OF FIRST GEAR. SINCE THEN THIS IS WHAT HAS OCCURED. AT THIS POINT I CAN NO LONGER DRIVE THE VEHICLE DUE TO NO ACCELERATION AND IM AFRAID THAT I MIGHT CAUSE AN ACCIDENT DUE TO EXTREMELY SLOW IF NOT ANY TAKE OFF FROM ANY STOP. I AM VERY UPSET OVER THIS ISSUE CONSIDERING EVERYTHING I HAVE READ UP ON ALL LEADS BACK TO THE CVT TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS FROM SEVERAL OTHER OWNERS, AND THE FACT THAT SEVERAL RECALLS HAVE BEEN MADE DUE TO THIS, BUT FOR SOME REASON NOT THE 2017 ALTIMA? IT IS APPARENT TO ME THAT THIS YEAR HAS ALSO BEEN AFFECTED. I AM A SINGLE MOTHER AND CAN'T AFFORD ANOTHER EXSPINCE AT THIS TIME ESPECIALLY SINCE I LOST MY JOB DUE TO COVID-19. NOW I AM UNEMPLOYED AND CANT DRIVE MY CAR DUE TO TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS THAT OBVIOUSLY SEEMS TO BE A REACCURING PROBLEM FOR NISSANS WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSIONS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V315000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. CEDAR PARK NISSAN (2121 S BELL BLVD, CEDAR PARK, TX 78613, (512) 620-7200) WAS CONTACTED BY PHONE AND IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT PARTS WERE NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE ISSUE HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES BUT SEEMS TO HAPPEN MORE, THE LONGER THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING. THE FIRST TIME I WAS WAITING IN A PARKING LOT WITH THE AIR CONDITION RUNNING. I WAS LEAVING THE PARKING LOT AND THE VEHICLE PAUSED AND LOST ACCELERTION POWER FOR A FEW SECONDS AND STARTED GOING. I THOUGH IT WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE AIR CONDITION SO I TURNED OFF THE AIR CONDITION TO SEE IF IT WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN. WHEN I GOT TO A STOP LIGHT AND STARTED TO ACCELERATE IT PAUSED AGAIN THEN ACCELERATED. THE PAUSE SEEMS TO BE FROM 5 TO 10 SECONDS BEFORE THE CAR WOULD MOVE.THE LONGER THE CAR WAS RUNNING THE MORE IT HAPPENED. AT THIS TIME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS NOT ON. ON SHORTER DISTANCES THE PROBLEM WOULD NOT START BUT ON LONG DISTANCES OR ON ACCELERATION, THE PAUSE WOULD CONTINUE. FINALLY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I WENT TO AUTO ZONE TO GET THE CODE CHECKED. IT WAS A P0776 CODE,"PRESSURE CONTROL SOLENOID B PERFORMANCE OR STUCK OFF" . I FINALLY TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO GET THE ISSUE CHECKED AND THEY STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED FOR $6000 ON A 3 YEAR OLD CAR WITH ONLY 74000 MILES. PROBLEMS 1. LOST ACCELERATION FOR A FEW SECONDS BEFORE THE VEHICLE WILL ACCELERATE AGAIN 2. COMPLETELY LOST ACCELERATION AND COULD NOT MOVE AND A HILL. 3. LOST ACCELERATION ON THE FREEWAY AND BARELY MADE TO THE SIDE TO TURN OFF THE CAR. SEEING THE ISSUES FOR THE NISSAN ALTIMA AND THE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION, NISSAN NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR A TRANSMISSION THEY KNOW HAS PROBLEMS AND REPAIR THE ISSUE. THEY UPDATED THE WARRANTY UP TO 2016 BUT NOT THE 2017 OR 2018 MODELS THAT STILL HAVE ISSUES, USING THE SAME TRANSMISSION AS THE 2016 MODELS. I WILL NOT BE BUYING ANOTHER NISSAN AGAIN BECAUSE OF THEIR KNOWLEDGE OF THE ISSUE AND NOT CORRECTING IT.
TRANSMISSION STARTED TO SLIP IN EARLY 2019. WENT TO DEALERSHIP IMMEDIATELY TO BE INFORMED THAT THE CVT TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. DEALERSHIP QUOTED US $5600 FOR THE REPAIR OF A REBUILT. WE LOOKED AT THE ERROR CODE AND SAW THAT ALL OTHER YEARS AND MODELS HAD ALREADY BEEN RECALLED DUE TO THE EXACT SAME ERROR. NISSAN TOLD US THEY WOULD GIVE US "ASSISTANCE" AT 60%, WHICH STILL WAS OVER $1600 EXPENSE, FOR A CAR JUST 2 YEARS OLD. THE CAR WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR 3 WEEKS. WHEN I PICKED UP THE VEHICLE, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. TOOK IT RIGHT BACK. NISSAN INFORMED ME IT WAS A FAULTY OXYGEN SENSOR. COST ANOTHER $800. WE WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER NISSAN AGAIN.

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V315000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE. AN UNKNOWN DEALER WAS CONTACTED IN REGARD TO THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED (75MPH), MY RPM'S SHOT UP. I LET OFF THE ACCELERATOR BRIEFLY AND WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO PUSH THE ACCELERATOR AGAIN, NOTHING HAPPENED. MY CAR CONTINUED TO SLOW DOWN AND I WAS ALMOST HIT FROM BEHIND. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. I HAD MY CAR TOWED TO A GARAGE AND THEY SAID THE CAR HAD 4 ERROR CODES, ALL HAVING TO DO WITH THE TRANSMISSION. I HAVE HAD MY CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AS I AM STILL COVERED UNDER MY 5 YEAR/ 60000 MILE WARRANTY.

SHORTY AFTER RECEIVING THE NOTIFICATION, THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE HOOD HAD INDEPENDENTLY OPENED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GLENDALE NISSAN (484 E NORTH AVE., GLENDALE HEIGHTS, IL 60139; (630) 469-6100) WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE PART WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE. I WAS DRIVING MY 2017 NISSAN ALTIMA, WHEN STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, ONCE THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, I WAS ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE WHEN MY CAR WOULDN'T MOVE OR GO. AS I'M ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE, MY GAUGES ARE JUMPING BUT STILL NO MOVEMENT. EVENTUALLY AFTER ME TRYING PARK/NEUTRAL, THEN BACK IN DRIVE, IT JERKED INTO GEAR. ONCE IN GEAR, MY RPM GAUGE STARTED SURGING UP AND DOWN, CAR JENKINS OUT OF CONTROL. I COASTED TO A NEARBY STORE WHERE MY DAD TOWED TO HOME, TO CHECK IT OUT. ATTEMPED TO TRY AND TAKE IT TO THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY, AND IT CONTINUED TO DO THE SAME EXACT THING. NISSAN HAS PUT A FAULTY CVT IN THE 2017 NISSAN ALTIMA. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS CAR TO NO ONE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2017 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING AT 35 MPH AND BRAKED TO STOP AT A STOP SIGN, WHEN THE VEHICLE UNINTENDEDLY ACCELERATED. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED WITH FORCE UT FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WENT THROUGH THE STOP SIGN AND FOUR LANES ON THE ROAD AND CRASHED INTO A TREE WHERE IT CAME TO A STOP. THE CONTACT'S FOOT WAS CRUSHED, HER NECK WAS BROKEN IN THREE PLACES , HER RIBS ON HER RIGHT SIDE WERE ALSO BROKEN. THE CONTACT'S LEFT WRIST WAS BROKEN AND THE RIGHT WRIST WAS SPRAINED. THE CONTACT WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL AND REQUIRED FOUR QUARTS OF BLOOD. THE VEHICLE ROLLED OVER ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE AND THE MOTOR WAS PUSHED INTO THE CAB ON ALSO THE PASSENGER'S SIDE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY AND THE WRECKAGE WAS TOWED AWAY. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000. *DT*JB
VEHICLE STARTED LEAKING OIL. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK IT TO FUCILLO NISSAN, WHERE I PURCHASED IT , NEW. THEY KEPT VEHICLE OVER ONE MONTH, RETURNED IT SUPPOSEDLY FIXED. THEY HAD MOTOR OUT, TO FIX A LEAK. STILL LEAKING IN MY DRIVEWAY. WE ARE IN OUR SEVENTIES AND AFRAID OF FIRE. PLEASE HELP!!
CAR WILL STOP ACCELERATING OUT OF NOWHERE, WHEN AT A STOP LIGHT YOU PRESS THE GAS AND IT JUST WANT GO ALSO CAR WILL SPIKE THE RPMS BUT THE CAR DOESN'T ACCELERATE WHILE DRIVING
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE HOOD INADVERTENTLY UNLATCHED AND OPENED, STRIKING THE FRONT WINDSHIELD AND CAUSING A VISIBILITY HAZARD FOR THE DRIVER. DURING THE INCIDENCE, THE DRIVER LOST CONTROL OF THE STEERING AND DROVE OFF THE ROADWAY BEFORE COMING TO A STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO PORTSMOUTH NISSAN LOCATED AT 120 SPAULDING TURNPIKE, PORTSMOUTH, NH 03801. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT YET DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V315000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES) HOWEVER, THE PARTS WERE NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000.
DELAY WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, IT WONT REV OR DO ANYTHING FOR A FEW MINUTES UNTIL THE CAR WILL FINALLY MOVE. VERY DANGEROUS WHEN IN AN INTERSECTION OR SWITCHING LANES. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, NO CODES WHEN THE DEALER TEST IT. DOESN'T ALWAYS HAPPEN, HAD TO THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES, NO HELP. ONCE I TURN OFF THE CAR IT RESETS ITSELF AND WILL WORK FINE UNTIL THE NEXT STOP.
THERE IS AN ACTIVE RECALL FOR THE HOOD LATCH WHICH NISSAN HAS NO RESOLUTION FOR AT THIS TIME. FIRST- THIS SAME RECALL EXISTED ON MY 2014 NISSAN ALTIMA AND WHILE THE CURRENT RECALL IS LISTED AT JUNE 2020 FOR THE 2017 ALTIMA THIS ISSUE IS NOT NEW OR UNKNOWN TO NISSAN. THEY SIMPLY DO NOT KNOW HOW TO PERMANENTLY AND SAFELY RESOLVE THE ISSUES. SECOND- THE CURRENT "FIX" IS TO PRESS DOWN FIRMLY ON THE HOOD EVERY TIME BEFORE DRIVING. THIS IS NOT A RESOLUTION AND OWNERS OF VEHICLES IMPACTED BY THIS RECALL SHOULD QUALIFY FOR A MANDATORY BUY BACK FROM THE MANUFACTURER.
OUR TRANSMISSION GAVE OUT ON 41,982 MILES, IT IS CURRENTLY GETTING "REBUILD" AT NISSAN. TOMORROW WILL MAKE IT A WEEK SINCE NISSAN HAS OUR CAR AND IT STILL HASN'T BEEN WORKED ON. WE WERE TOLD IT'S IN ROTATION. NISSAN WARRENTY SUCKS, THEY HAVE US A $105 VOUCHER THAT ONLY COVERS 3 DAYS. WE LIVE IN NYC, THERE ARE NO CAR RATE FOR $35 A DAY, IT IS $65 A DAY INCLUDING TAX. NISSAN WANTS TO CONTACT OUR EXTENDED WARRENTY TOSEE IF THEY CAN COVER A PORTION OF THE RENTAL, WHICH IS RIDICULOUS. IT'S THEIR FAULT FOR MAKING FAULTY TRANSMISSION, I SHOULD PAY THE COST TO RENT A CAR.
PURCHASED NEW IN 2017 NOTICED A SERIOUS OIL LEAK A COUPLE YEARS LATER. TOOK BACK TO DEALER , THEY KEPT IT FOR A MONTH. FINALLY AFTER ENGINE IN AND OUT OF CAR, THAT OIL LEAK WAS SILVED. NOT SO STILL LEAKING. WE ARE AFRAID OF FIRE.WE ARE IN OUR SEVENTIES. PLEASE HELP US.DRIVEWAY SHOWS OIL LEAK.
FOR THE PAST TWO WEEKS I NOTICED THAT MY VEHICLE STARTED LOOSING POWER AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS RANDOMLY. THERE WERE TIMES I DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR AND A SIGNIFICANT DELAY TOOK PLACE WITH THE CAR SPEEDING UP. YESTERDAY 10/09/2020 WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THE CAR FAILED TO ACCELERATE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND BEGAN SKIPPING BETWEEN GEARS. AFTER GETTING OFF MY EXIT FOR HOME, I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND WAITED FOR THE LIGHT TO TURN GREEN. I DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR AND NOTHING HAPPENED FOR ABOUT 5 SECONDS. THE CAR FINALLY DROVE FORWARD AND I SLOWLY DROVE THE REMAINING 4 MILES HOME WITH MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE GRAINGER NISSAN DEALER IN GARDEN CITY, GEORGIA FOR TODAY AT 9:00 AM. I EXPLAINED THE SITUATION TO THEM AND WAS INFORMED THAT IT WOULD TAKE A FEW DAYS TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. A COUPLE HOURS LATER I GOT A CALL FROM THE ADVISOR STATING THAT MY CARS TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED FOR $3800. I ASKED IF THIS WAS A COMMON ISSUE WITH NISSAN ALTIMA'S THAT HAVE 90K MILES ON THEM. HE STATED THAT THERE ARE SOME VEHICLES THAT HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED WITH THIS ISSUE BY THE MANUFACTURER AND OTHERS ARE NOT COVERED BY ANY WARRANTY. HE STATED THAT DURING PRODUCTION THEY LABELED SOME VEHICLES BY THE VIN NUMBER WITH THE ISSUE AND WOULD REPAIR THOSE VEHICLES AT NO COST TO OWNER. HOWEVER MY VEHICLE DID NOT RECEIVE THAT LABEL. MY CONCERN IS IF THEY ARE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WITH THEIR TRANSMISSION HOW DO THEY DETERMINE WHICH CARS THEY WILL FIX AND WHICH ONES THEY WILL NOT. WHAT ARE THE CRITERIA TO MEET ELIGIBILITY FOR REPAIR THEIR DEFECTIVE PRODUCT?

ON SEPT. 15TH 2020, I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT ON THE HIGHWAY, I WAS REAR ENDED BY A TRACTOR TRAILER AND FROM THERE PUSHED ACROSS FOUR LANES HEAD ON INTO MEDIAN CEMENT WALL THE CAR THEN ROLLED BACK INTO TRAFFIC WHERE I WAS HIT AGAIN BY ANOTHER TRUCK IN THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE WHEEL AND HOOD AREA, THIS SENT ME BACK INTO THE GUARD RAIL ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. DURING THIS COLLISION NONE OF AIRBAGS DEPLOYED IN THE FRONT OR REAR, THIS CAR HASN'T BEEN IN ANY ACCIDENTS, AND THERE ARE NO RECALLS LISTED FOR THE AIRBAGS, SYSTEM DID NOT ALERT ME TO TRAFFIC IN BLIND SPOT, SAFETY FEATURE FOR THIS WAS ON. REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR LOCK STOPPED WORKING INTERMITTENTLY THEN THE RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR LOCK STOPPED WORKING INTERMITTENTLY. I NEVER KNOW IF THE DOORS ARE LOCKED OR UNLOCKED. IF THE FOB WAS USED TO LOCK THE CAR AND THELOCK DID NOT FULLY LOCK, YOU CAN OPEN THE DOOR BUT THEN IT SETS OFF THE CAR ALARM. THE REMOTE START WILL NOT WORK ANYMORE WHICH I AM ALSO GUESSING IS DUE TO THE LOCKING ISSUE. SPOKE TO THE DEALER BUT MY CAR IS OVER 3 YEARS OLD AND I DID NOT PURCHASE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY, SO THEY SAY IT'S AN EXTREMELY COSTLY DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR. I FEEL THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE, ESPECIALLY FOR A CAR THATS ONLY A LITTLE OVER 3 YEARS OLD.
MY 2017 ALTIMA IS EXPERIENCING A SPORADIC DELAY WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. IT WON'T REV OR DO ANYTHING FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS NO MATTER HOW FAR DOWN THE PEDAL IS. THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT'LL GO. I'VE ALMOST DIED MULTIPLE TIMES NOW BECAUSE OF THIS, THIS IS GOING TO COST SOMEONE THEIR LIFE! I'VE NOW BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT IT TWICE FOR THEIR REVIEW AND EACH TIME THEY'VE CLAIMED THEY CAN'T FIND A PROBLEM. THIS SEEMS TO BE A WIDESPREAD ISSUE: HTTPS://WWW.CARGURUS.COM/CARS/DISCUSSION-T63248_DS999189
MY TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING AT 50K MILES. I'M EXPERIENCING HESITATION AND JERKING WHILE DRIVING. TODAY I HAD TO PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY BECAUSE I WAS SO SCARED THAT MY CAR GOING TO SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. I STOP AT A RED LIGHT AND MY CAR STALL & WOULDN'T MOVE FOR A FEW SECONDS. I HAD TO PUT MY EMERGENCY BLINKER ON. I'M SO SCARED OF DRIVING THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE IF MY CAR STOP WHILE DRIVING AND SOMEONE HIT ME FROM BEHIND, I MIGHT END UP DEAD.
I AM AN OWNER OF A 2017 NISSAN ALTIMA. WITHIN TWO WEEKS MY TRANSMISSION TENDS TO JUMP, JERK, WHILE ACCELERATING. THE CHECK ENGINE COMES ON. ACCORDING TO AUTO ZONE, IT'S A P0776 CODE. I SPENT $152 FOR TAKING IT TO BE CHECKED OUT AT A DEALERSHIP. I WAS TOLD THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING. I REACHED OUT TO SOMEONE AT NISSAN DEALER, WHEN I WAS INFORMED THAT THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE 2016 2016 TRANSMISSION AND THE 2017 TRANSMISSION. ON MY WAY HOME FROM THE DEALERSHIP, MY TRANSMISSION SLIPPED AGAIN. PRIOR TO ALL THIS, I HAD NO ISSUES OR COMPLAINT. CURRENTLY, MY VEHICLE HAS 72,475 MILES ON IT.

THE RECALL LETTER STATED THAT THE REMEDY WOULD BE AVAILABLE IN MID 2021. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
TRANSMISSION TENDS TO JUMP WHEN ACCELERATING AND CAR JERKS EVEN WHEN PRESSING ON THE GAS GRADUALLY. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL THEN FLICKER ON AND OFF BUT DOESN'T STAY ON LONG ENOUGH FOR ME TO MAKE IT TO THE SHOP.
THERE WAS A RECALL ON 2013 TO 2016 ON SUPPLEMENTAL AIRBAG WARNING LIGHTS, WHICH CAME OUT IN 2017,HOWEVER THEY NEVER FIXED THE 2017 MODELS THAT WERE ALREADY OUT UNDER THE NEW RECALL. THE SUPPLUMENTIAL WARNING G LIGHT STAYS ON, AND THE NISSIAN WILL CHARGE $2000 TO FIX.
CAR LOST POWER WHILE TURNING ON TO HIGHWAY CAR LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING FOWN INTERSTATE TRANSMISSIONBIS FAULTY NISSAN ADMITS TO KNOWING IT AND WON'T RECALL IT. I HAVE POWER TRAIN WARRNENTY AND THEY WON'T ACKNOWLEDGE IT. THE BILL IS 3600. THIS IS NOT SAFE THE CAR LOSES POWER WHILE DRIVING YOU HAVE NO ABILITY TO PRESS GAS. NO WARNING NO LIGHTS NO POWER SOME ONE COULD DIE
VEHICLE TRANSMISSION QUITE WORKING AT ONLY 92996. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE FOR 3 YEARS AND WELL MECHANICALLY MAINTAINED ALL THE TIME. DEALERSHIP AND MANUFACTURE COMPANY IS WILLING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE FAULTY TRANSMISSIONS THAT THEY KNOW THEY PUT IN THE VEHICLES. ALTIMAS UP TO 2016 HAS HAD THEIR WARRANTY EXTENDED BUT COMPANY REFUSES TO ADD THE 2017 TO THE LIST.
COLLISION LIGHT SHOWS UP ON DASH. THE LIGHT COMES ON ALL THE TIME WHEN DRIVING ON LITTLE BUMPY HIGHWAY STREETS AND / OR DRIVING DOWN ON BRIDGES. LIGHT TURNS OFF AFTER DRIVING FOR SOME TIME. NISSAN DEALERSHIP HAS CHECKED AND COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEM. NO DTC. WAS PRESENT WHEN SCANNED BY TECHNICIAN. CAR IS DRIVEN 17500 MILES ONLY AND NO ACCIDENTS.

MY TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING AT 80K MILES. MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN WELL-MAINTAINED AND I AM AWARE OF THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FOR TRANSMISSIONS THAT AFFECTS NISSANS OF MY SAME YEAR. MY VEHICLE SHAKES, I EXPERIENCE HESITATIONS AND JERKING WHILE DRIVING. POWER LOSS BUT NO STALLING YET.
I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR IN SERVAL TIMES TO HOPFULLY GET THIS PROBLEM FIXED BUT THEY CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT IT IS! MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP WHEN I'M ON THE ROAD OR TURNING AND I CAN'T TURN MY WHEEL WHEN IT LOCKS ON ME. I HAVE BLOWN A TIRE BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE IT PUSHED ME OFF THE ROAD AND I COULDN'T CORRECT IT UNTIL THE STEERING WHEEL LOOSENED UP. I HAVE 3 KIDS AND I DON'T FEEL SAFE IN MY OWN CAR NISSIAN CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT BUT IT DOES IT IN TOWN RANDOMLY AND EVEN ON THE INTERSTATE AND I CAN'T DO ANYTHING UNTIL IT UNLOCKS. LIKE I SAID IT'S BEEN DOING IT FOR OVER A YEAR NOW BUT HAS JUST BECAME MORE OFTEN OVER TIME AND MORE DANGEROUS I AM SCARED TO DRIVE MY OWN CAR
I BOUGHT THIS CAR FROM A DEALERSHIP AND THERE WAS A SAFETY RECALL DEALING WITH THE HOOD LATCH
MY CAR IS A 2017 NISSAN ALTIMA WITH ONLY 67,000 MILES ON IT. UNTIL 7/25/20, I HAD NO ISSUES OR COMPLAINTS. ON 7/25/20 THE GEAR STARTED DELAYING SO I IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT IN TO A LOCAL AUTO SHOP. I HAD TO PAY $130 FOR THEM TO TELL ME I NEEDED A BRAND NEW TRANSMISSION ON A 3 YEAR OLD CAR WITH EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION AND MAINTENANCE. NISSAN WAS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE BECAUSE THEY EXTENDED THE CVT TRANSMISSION WARRANTY ON THE 2015 ALTIMAS, BUT BECAUSE MINE WAS 7,000 MILES OUT OF THE STANDARD WARRANTY AND THE 2017 VEHICLES WEREN'T SPECIFICALLY INCLUDED IN THE EXTENSION, I WAS BEING ASKED TO PAY $6000 FOR THE REPLACEMENT. THEY ULTIMATELY OFFERED 60% OF COVERAGE BECAUSE OF THE FAULTY TRANSMISSIONS BUT NOW I AM DEALING WITH THE ALIGNMENT NOT WORKING AND THE CAR STILL JERKING AFTER PAYING AN ADDITIONAL $1650. I AM LIVID AND UPSET THAT THIS IS NOT ONLY A KNOWN ISSUE BUT THAT NISSAN IS NOT TAKING CARE OF THEIR CUSTOMERS. I HAVE CHILDREN I DRIVE AROUND AND IT'S NOT SAFE TO BE DOING SO WITH A CAR THAT HAS DEFECTIVE PARTS.
THE TRANSMISSION ON MY 2017 NISSAN ALTIMA FAILED AFTER 35,000 MILES. THE TRANIMSSION WAS REBUILT A WEEK AGO AND THE REBUILT CVT TRANSMISSION ALSO FAILED BEFORE THE CAR REACHED 36,000 MILES. I DO NOT TRUST NISSAN TRANSMISSIONS AND FEEL THAT THIS CAR WILL FAIL ON ME AGAIN STOPS ACCLERATING WHICH HAS HAPPENED TO ME TWICE ALREADY.

ON 30 JUNE, 2020, AT APPROXIMATELY 4:15 PM, MY 3 YEAR OLD NISSAN ALTIMA STOPPED ACCELERATING. I WAS ON INTERSTATE 64 EAST BOUND GOING UP THE HIGH RISE BRIDGE. ABOUT HALF WAY UP I WAS NO LONGER ABLE TO ACCELERATE. MY MOMENTUM ALLOWED ME TO REACH THE TOP AND COAST DOWN THE OTHER SIDE. DUE TO BEING IN THE LEFT LANE AND RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC THIS CAUSED A SAFETY ISSUE FOR MYSELF AND OTHER DRIVERS. ALTHOUGH NO ONE WAS HURT, THE POTENTIAL FOR IT WAS HIGH. AFTER GETTING TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AT THE BOTTOM OF THE BRIDGE NEAR MILE MARKER 294, I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF THEN BACK ON, NO CHANGE. I WAS ABLE TO BACK UP AND REV THE ENGINE IN NEUTRAL BUT NO REVVING/RPM INCREASE OR NON GRAVITY FORWARD MOTION WHILE IN DRIVE. AFTER GETTING TOWED TO THE DEALER, I WAS TOLD THE NEXT DAY THAT THE PROBLEM WAS A BAD THROTTLE BODY. I RESEARCHED IT AND THE SYMPTOMS DID NOT MATCH A THROTTLE BODY ISSUE. I ALSO RESEARCH TO SEE OF OTHERS HAD THIS ISSUE AND IT APPEARS TO BE COMMON WITH NISSAN VEHICLES. MY VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. SOME OTHERS WITH VEHICLES UNDER WARRANTY WERE ALSO TOLD THE SAME THING. OFTEN WHEN THIS SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED WITH OTHER VEHICLES AFTER THE WARRANTY WAS UP, AND REOCCURRED AFTER THE WARRANTY WAS OFF, THEY WERE TOLD IT WAS A TRANSMISSION ISSUE. DUE TO THE NATURE OF THIS ISSUE AND THE POTENTIAL FOR SERIOUS HARM, I THINK THIS SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO. I WAS ON A BRIDGE AND IN A CONSTRUCTION AREA. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A REALLY BAD ACCIDENT, AND HURT PEOPLE. NISSAN NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR EQUIPMENT THAT THEY KNOW IS DEFECTIVE.
I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE WHEN SUDDENLY IT LOST POWER AND WOULD HARDLY MOVE EVEN WITH THE GAS PEDAL PUSHED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A MECHANIC WHERE I WAS TOLD THAT I NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION.
MY NISSAN ALTIMA 2017 WILL JUST STOP ACCELERATING OUT OF NOWHERE WHILE OTHER VEHICLES ARE COMING BEHIND ME ON THE INTERSTATE ROAD THIS MAY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AND IT HAPPENS LIKE ALMOST EVERY 3 WEEKS BACK TO BACK, SINCE DECEMBER 2019 TILL DATE MY CAR DOESN'T ACCELERATE AND WILL BE MOVING TOO SLOW LIKE ITS ABOUT TO STOP ON THE ROAD WHILE STILL DRIVING AND ALL OF A SUDDEN IT WILL ACCELERATE SLOWLY AND MOVE BUT STILL NOT MOVING LIKE NORMAL.
THE TRANSMISSION ON MY ALTIMA WAS STRUGGLING TO SHIFT GEARS WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY. THE CAR DROVE AS THOUGH IT WAS STUCK BETWEEN DRIVE AND NEUTRAL. AFTER EXITING THE OFF-RAMP MY CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND WAS ADRIFT. SHIFTING FROM VARIOUS GEARS AND BACK TO DRIVE DID NOTHING. I HAD TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND THEN BACK ON AND SHIFT TO DRIVE AS LOWER DRIVE DID NOT WORK. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO A DEALERSHIP BUT COULD FEEL THE CAR'S TRANSMISSION DYING ALONG THE WAY. THE ALTIMA WAS 2017 WITH ONLY 35,000 MILES. I PURCHASED THE CAR USED WITH ONLY 5,000 MILES.
CAR WILL STOP ACCELERATING OUT OF NOWHERE . CAR WILL SPIKE THE RPMS BUT CAR DOESN'T ACCELERATE WHILE DRIVING I WAS ALMOST T-BONED WHEN MY CAR DELAYED FOR 4 SECONDS BEFORE IT ACCELERATED . NISSAN IS CLAIMING IT'S THE TRANSMISSION AND IT'S NOT FAULTY . THIS HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE . IF THEY DO NOT FIX NISSAN WILL ME LOSING MY BUSINESS . *TR
THE SOLENOID IN THE TRANSMISSION RESPONSIBLE FOR SHIFTING WENT BAD AT 67,000 MILES AND THE VALVE BODY HAD TO BE REPLACED IN THE TRANSMISSION. I WAS DRIVING AND WHEN IT WAS NEEDING TO MAINTAIN THE SPEED WITHOUT GAS OR BRAKE APPLIED IT WOULD JUMP BETWEEN GEARS WITHOUT REASON AND FELT LIKE A SHUDDER AS I WAS DRIVING IT. *TR
I HAVE A 2017 NISSAN ALTIMA AND THE ABS LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF. I REPORTED THE ISSUE TO NISSAN BUT I WAS TOLD THAT BECAUSE MY CAR WAS NOT LISTED IN THE CAMPAIGN THERE WAS NOTHING THAT THEY COULD DO. *TR
II NOTICED A WEIRD SMELL COMING FROM THE ENGINE FOR A ABOUT MONTH BUT DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING OF IT. I WAS DRIVING ON MY WAY TO WORK WHEN MY CAR STARTED SMOKING, SHUT OFF, AND CAUGHT ON FIRE! HAD THIS CAR FOR NOT EVEN 1 YEAR WHEN THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED. TOOK GOOD CARE OF THE CAR, TOOK IT TO GET OIL CHANGES. NOT SURE HOW THIS CAN RANDOMLY HAPPEN. *TR
TRANSMISSION HAS GONE OUT AT 76000 MILES ON THE FREEWAY. COULDN'T GET MY SPEED OVER 45 MPH. THOUGHT I WAS GONNA DIE! NISSAN REFUSES TO HELP ME. THEY WANT 4000 DOLLARS TO REPLACE THE CRAP CVT TYRANNY.
MY 2017 ALTIMA IS EXPERIENCING A SPORADIC DELAY WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. IT WON'T REV OR DO ANYTHING FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS NO MATTER HOW FAR DOWN THE PEDAL IS. THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT'LL GO. THERE IS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND NO CODES. IF I TURN THE CAR OFF, IT'S LIKE IT RESETS AND HAS MORE POWER AFTERWARDS. *TR
THE CAR HAS A DELAY WHEN ACCELERATING, WHEN STARTING FROM A STOP. YOU HAVE TO BE CAREFUL NOT TO PUSH TOO FAR ON THE ACCELERATOR SINCE THE CAR WILL EVENTUALLY ACCELERATE. THE TACHOMETER WILL ALSO GO UP TO 5000 RPM WHEN GOING BETWEEN 55 AND 60MPH. IT WILL NOT SHIFT DOWN AT HIGH WAY SPEED. THE ONLY WAY TO CORRECT EITHER ISSUE IS TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND ON. BOTH ISSUES ARE INTERMITTENT BUT IF ONE OCCURS THE OTHER DOES ALSO. THIS ONLY HAPPENS AFTER COME TO A STOP A FREE DRIVING FOR A PERIOD OF TIME. THE VEHICLE IS JUST UNDER THREE YEARS OLD WITH 54,000 MILES. RECENTLY I HAD THE DEALER LOOK AT IT AND I HAD TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION FLUID CHANGED/INSPECTED, CODES/COMPUTER CHECKED AND THE PROGRAM UPDATED FOR A GRAND TOTAL OF $330. TIME WILL TELL IF FIXED THE ISSUE. I HAD TO PAY FOR THIS EVEN THOUGH I AM UNDER THE 60000 POWERTRAIN WARRANT AND THE 60000 MILE RECOMMENDED TRANSMISSION FLUID CHANGE. *TR
THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR CAN'T BE OPENED FROM THE INSIDE. CABLING CAME LOOSE FROM THE HANDLE APPARENTLY. DOOR IS ABLE TO BE OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE. IT WAS LIKE THE CHILD SAFETY LOCK WAS ON. ALSO THE FRONT FLOOR MAT EYE HOOK RING TORE AWAY FROM THE FLOOR MAT ALLOWING IT TO MOVE UP UNDER THE GAS AND BREAK PEDAL. *TR
I BOUGHT A USED 2017 NISSAN ALTIMA WITH NO PROBLEMS WITH IT AND NO ACCIDENTS SINCE I'VE HAD IT. THERE'S QUITE COLLECTION OF WATER ON THE BACK PASSENGER SIDE. NO LEAKS FROM THE ROOF, DOORS, OR WINDOWS. *TR
THE FOB HAD STOPPED WORKING ONLY THING IT'S DOES IS START THE CAR NO REMOTE START NOT UNLOCK DOORS. AFTER PAYING 200 FOR A NEW PHONE TO BE PROGRAMMED NOT TO MUCH THE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS I HAVE SPENT IN GETTING LOCK OUT ASSISTANCE FOR LOCKING KEYS IN CAR A FOB IS EASILY LOST WHEN IT HAD TO BE UNATTACHED FROM THE DOOR KEY ITSELF. *TR
MY CAR GET CRAZY ELECTRICAL DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE TRANSMISSION SLEEP ALONE 5 MINUTES LATER CAR TURN ON BY SELF LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED WHEN STAR HAPPENED I TRY TO STOP THE CAR BRAKE DON'T WORK CAR STILL RUNNING ONLY THINK ITS WORK EMERGENCY BRAKE. *TR
IT WAS CLEAR FOR ME TO PULL OUT ON TO THE HIGHWAY FROM A COMPLETE STOP. AS I WAS ALMOST IN MY LANE OF TRAFFIC MY CAR STARTED JERKING, SLIPPING, AND WAS UNABLE TO DRIVE SAFELY. *TR
AFTER DRIVING HOME FROM A TRIP TO THE LAKE OUR CAR STARTED HAVING DIFFICULTY ACCELERATING FROM STOP LIGHTS IN DRIVE. . IT WOULD SEEM TO STALL OUT AND NOT ACCELERATE. LUCKILY IT WORKED ENOUGH TO GET US THE LAST MILE HOME. TODAY (THE NEXT DAY) MY HUSBAND WENT TO GO RUN ERRANDS AND AFTER PUTTING THE 2017 NISSAN ALTIMA INTO GEAR THE CAR WILL NOT MOVE. THE CAR IS PARKED IN OUT DRIVEWAY. THERE IS A WHINING SOUNDS THAT COMES OUT OF THE ENGINE WHILE IDLING. WHEN THE CAR IS PUT INTO GEAR THE WHINING GETS LOUDER AND THE RPMS WILL JUMP UP BUT THE CAR WILL NOT MOVE AT ALL. NO MATTER WHAT GEAR THE VEHICLE IS PUT IN. *TR

I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY BACK IN FEBRUARY AND MY CAR STOPPED AT A CERTAIN SPEED AND WHEN I TRIED TO GO FASTER THE CAR WOULDN'T PICK UP SPEED. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON.I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHERE I'VE STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT AND WHEN TIME TO GO THE CAR SEEM TO STALL FOR A MINUTE BEFORE MOVING. JUST A FEW DAYS AGO MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I TOOK IT BACK TO THE MECHANIC TO BE TOLD THE CODE THAT CAME UP WAS P0776 AND I WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE MY TRANSMISSION. THE MECHANIC CALLED NISSAN AND WAS TOLD THEY MY MODEL AND YEAR CAR DOES NOT HAVE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY AND THEY WILL NOT COVER IT. I HAVEN'T EVEN HAD THIS CAR FOR 3 YEARS YET. I'M CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY IN THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE 3 KIDS WHICH ONE IS A NEWBORN THAT I TRANSPORT IN THIS VEHICLE. NISSAN NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS.

THE RPMS GO UP REALLY HIGH AND THE CAR BARELY TAKES OFF. THIS OCCURS DURING ALL WEATHER CONDITIONS ON ALL TERRAINS.

I HAVE SINCE BEEN IN A REAR END COLLISION UNABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND A DRIVER LEFT TURN COLLISION AGAIN UNABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE, I WENT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND RECVD ANOTHER NEW BATTERY BUT BRAKES ARE FINE!! LAST NIGHT IN THE RAIN APPROACHING A RED LIGHT, NOT HYDROPLANING, AGAIN ALMOST HIT A STOPPED CAR & SWERVED. THEYKEEP INSISTING IT IS MY DRIVING CAUSING THE ISSUE, MY CAR HAS 20,00 MI I WANT A BRAND NEW ALTIMA WITH PROPERLY WORKING PARTS! I CALLED BOTH BRANCH & DISTRICT MANAGER WITH NO RETURN CALL! I WILL ESCALATE TO THE TOP OF NISSAN!
AS I PULLED OUT ONTO THE HIGHWAY FROM WORK AS I NORMALLY WOULD, MY CAR IMMEDIATELY STALLED AND WOULD NOT EVEN GO PAST 20 MILES PER HOUR EVEN THOUGH I HAD THE PEDAL DOWN TO THE FLOOR. I LIFTED MY FOOT SLOWLY UP FROM THE PEDAL HAVING TO PULL OVER TO THE RIGHT LANE AND IT STARTED TO ACCELERATE MORE AFTER A GOOD MINUTE. I GOT MAYBE 3 MILES UP THE ROAD AND SLOWED DOWN BEHIND A DIESEL AND MY CAR STALLED AGAIN WITH MY FOOT COMPLETELY ON THE FLOOR PUSHING MY GAS PEDAL, IT STAYED UNDER 40 MPH FOR A GOOD 30 SECONDS. IT TOOK ME A MINUTE TO UNDERSTAND WHAT WAS GOING ON. I KNOW THE SYMPTOMS BECAUSE I HAD PREVIOUSLY OWNED A NEWER 2017 CHEVY MALIBU, I WAS THE ONLY OWNER OF THE VEHICLE AND MY THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR WENT OUT AT 22,000 MILES. THEY SAID IT WASNT NORMAL FOR IT TO GO OUT THAT EARLY, BUT MINE DID. IT WASNT A RECALL WHEN IT WENT OUT, BUT BECAME A RECALL AFTERWARDS IN LESS THAN A MONTH. THAT COULD HAVE KILLED ME AS MY CAR SUDDENLY REDUCED ENGINE SPEED WHILE PULLING OUT OF A RESTAURANT, LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER SLIGHTLY TO A NEARBY GAS STATION.
VEHICLE FIRE STARTED FROM PASSENGER SIDE UNDER HOOD WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH ON BATTLEFIELD PARKWAY IN RINGGOLD, GA. CAR HAD 50,000 MILES. PULLED OVER AND GOT OUT TO CALL 911, CAR GOT ENGULFED IN FLAMES AND IS A TOTAL LOSS. CATOOSA COUNTY SHERIFF AND CATOOSA COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDED.
MY TRANSMISSON STARTED SHUDDERING THEN JUST QUIT PULLING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSTATE WHICH BOUT GOT ME RAN OVER, THIS WAS LIKE THE THIRD TIME, THERE IS COUNTLESS CASES OF THE SAME EXACT THING HAPPENING WITH THE SAME CAR FROM 2014 TO 2018 MODELS DUE TO CVT TRANSMISSONS, SOMEONE NEEDS TO DO SUM HOMEWORK AND SEE THIS IS GONNA GET SOMEBODY HURT. NISSAN DOESNT WANT TO ADMIT THE ISSUES AND COVER THE ISSUES.
WHEN DRIVING ON ROUGH TERRAIN GOING AT APPROXIMATELY 30 TO 35 MPH, MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP FOR ABOUT 3 SECONDS AND THEN RELEASES. WHEN THIS ISSUE HAPPENS I AM UNABLE TO CONTROL MY VEHICLE. THE FIRST 3 TIMES THIS PROBLEM HAPPENED I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS ISSUE HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 4 TIME SINCE I'VE PURCHASED MY VEHICLE ON 12/31/2019.
THE LOW BEAMS ARE DANGEROUSLY DIM. I WAS ALMOST IN A ONE CAR ACCIDENT (COULDN'T SEE UPCOMING TRAFFIC CIRCLE) AS A RESULT. I HAVE TO RELY ON HIGH BEAMS FOR VISIBILITY WHENEVER POSSIBLE . THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM FROM WHAT I'VE RESEARCHED. I AM POSITIVE THERE WILL BE ACCIDENTS IF THIS ISSUE IS NOT FIXED.
WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE, THE CAR WILL HESITATE TO GAIN POWER FROM A STOP POSITION. SOMETIMES THE RPMS WILL RAMP UP WITHOUT ME PRESSING HARD ON THE GAS PEDDLE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO ADVANCE AUTO AND THE CODE THAT COMES UP IS P0776 PRESSURE CONTROL SOLENOID. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THAT THE WARRANTY IS EXPIRED BUT I'VE ONLY HAD THIS CAR FOR 7 MONTHS. AND I'M SURE OTHERS ARE HAVING THIS ISSUES IF NOT NOW VERY SOON. CUSTOMER WILL VERY MUCH SOON BE VERY PISSED OFF AFTER 7 MONTHS OF HAVING THEIR VEHICLE OR WHEN THE TRANSMISSION HITS 60K. AT THIS POINT I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO AND THIS HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE AND I FEEL LIKE IT WAS A MISTAKE GETTING THIS CAR.
WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE WILL MAKE A VIBRATION NOISE, LOSES POWER. ABSOLUTELY NO THROTTLE RESPONSE. ALMOST LIKE GETTING NO FUEL, BUT YOU CAN HEAR THE ENGINE REVVING AND VEHICLE WILL NOT MOVE. THEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN IT WILL START TO MOVE SLOWLY. THEN IT WILL GO. THIS PROCESS WILL REPEAT OVER AND OVER. UNTIL STOP AND TURN THE CAR OFF. WHEN YOU COME BACK IT ACTS FINE. THEN STARTS OVER ONCE DRIVEN A WHILE. THIS HAPPEN WHEN CITY DRIVING OR HIGHWAY. I FINALLY GOT A LIGHT TO COME ON AFTER SEVERAL MONTHS OF DRIVING THIS WAY. CHECK ENGINE CODE P0776 PRESSURE CONTROL SOLENOID. THAT'S IN THE TRANSMISSION. DEALER SAYS ITS NOT COVERED EVEN THOUGH THERE HAVE BEEN COMPLAINTS AND RECALLS ON OTHER NISSAN MODELS WITH CVT TRANSMISSIONS.
AS I WAS DRIVING I NOTICED AS I WAS GIVING MY CAR GAS. IT WAS ACTING AS IF IT DIDN'T WANT TO PULL. IT WAS IDLING VERY HIGH AND WOULDN'T GO OVER 30MPH. I BEGAN TO PANIC BECAUSE THIS IS A NEW CAR. I'M LIKE IS IT THE TRANSMISSION. I PULLED OVER CUT THE CAR OFF AND STARTED IT BACK UP. THE CAR BEGAN TO DRIVE BACK NORMAL. IT HAS DONE THIS MANY TIMES BEFORE EVEN WHILE I HAD UBER RIDERS ACTING AS IF IT DOESN'T WANT TO PULL. IT'S WAS IN MOTION EACH TIME IT HAPPENED EVEN ON THE INTERSTATE IN BUSY TRAFFIC.
WHEN VEHICLES PUT IN REVERSE AND THE BACK UP CAMERA IS ENGAGED MOST OF THE TIME THE SCREEN IS VERY DARK YOU HAVE TO PUT THE CAR INTO PARK AND THEN BACK INTO REVERSE AGAIN TO SEE. WHEN VEHICLE IS PUT IN REVERSE AND THE BACK UP CAMERA IS ENGAGED MOST OF THE TIME THE SCREEN IS VERY DARK YOU HAVE TO PUT THE CAR INTO PARK AND THEN BACK INTO REVERSE AGAIN TO SEE. THIS CREATES A SAFETY HAZARD WHEN TRYING TO BACK UP OUT OF TIGHT AREAS AND HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE LAST FEW WEEKS FOR
ISSUES WITH CVT ON MY 17 ALTIMA. CURRENTLY AT THE SHOP FOR THE SECOND TIME. AT COMPLETE STOP THE CAR DOES NOT WANT TO ACCELERATE, I PUSH THE PETAL TO THE FLOOR AND THE RPMS RACE WHILE THE CAR BASICALLY CRAWLS. I HAVE TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND ON AGAIN TO GET IT TO RUN NORMAL. HAPPENS A LOT.
I HAVE A 2017 NISSAN ALTIMA AND MY TRANSMISSION HAS GONE OUT.I HAVE THE NEW CVT TRANSMISSION AND MY MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT THOSE NEW TRANSMISSIONS ARE HORRIBLE ONCE THEY GO BAD YOU HAVE TO GET A NEW ONE. ALSO THERE ARE TWO CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST THE SIZE FOR THOSE SPECIFIC TRANSMISSION. THE FIRST TIME I NOTICED SOMETHING WAS WRONG MY CAR IS WHEN I WAS HEADED TO MIAMI TO THE DOLPHINS STADIUM FOR MY DAUGHTER'S CHEER PERFORMANCE I WAS ON I 95 SOUTH AND MY CAR STARTED JERKING AS IF IT WANTED TO STOP THERE WAS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON TO INDICATE THAT'S SOMETHING WAS WRONG. I TOOK MY CAR TO AUTO ZONE FOR A FREE DIAGNOSTIC TEST. I CALL NISSAN AND ASKED HOW MUCH WOULD IT BE TO FIX MY CAR THEY REFUSE TO TAKE THE AUTO ZONE DIAGNOSTIC TEST RESULTS THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME $300 DOLLARS JUST TO LOOK AT MY CAR. THE SECOND TIME MY CAR STOPPED ON ME IT HAPPENED WHEN I WAS HEADED HOME FROM WORK SITTING AT A RED LIGHT ON 441 AND WHEN IT WAS TIME TO GO I PRESS DOWN ON THE GAS IN MY CAR WILL NOT MOVE I WAS SO SCARED I JUST SHUT OFF MY CAR TURNED IT BACK ON AND IT STARTED TO WORK AND THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED I WAS ON MY WAY COMING BACK FROM TAKING MY DAUGHTER TO SCHOOL I'M TAKING MY DAUGHTER AND I WAS BUSY INTERSECTION SOUTHERN BOULEVARD MY CAR JUST STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD I HAD TO PRESS DOWN ON THE GAS SO MANY TIMES IT'S AGO AND WHEN IT DIDN'T SHUT OFF LIKE A ROCKET I WAS SO SCARED.
BOTH THE DRIVE SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE FRONT BRAKES ON MY 2017 NISSAN ALTIMA SR SQUEAK ONLY WHEN GOING IN REVERSE. THE NOISE IS VERY PRONOUNCED WHEN THE CAR IS DRIVEN OUT OF THE GARAGE IN THE MORNING IN REVERSE. IT ALSO HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR HAS BEEN PARKED ANYWHERE ELSE FOR A WHILE. THE BOTTOM LINE IS WHEN THE BRAKES ARE COLD THEY ALWAYS SQUEAK WHEN THE CAR IS DRIVEN IN REVERSE. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED IN 2017 AND THE BRAKES HAVE BEEN SQUEAKING FOR YEARS.
MY CAR HAS BEEN HESITATING TO ACCELERATE AND GETS THIS WEIRD MOTION. IT STARTS SOUNDING LIKE THE ENGINE IS GOING FAST BUT IT DOES NOT GO MORE THAN 20 FOR TIMES.
THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS ARE SO DIM THAT DRIVING AT NIGHT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.
I WAS HEADING SOUTH BOUND ON RT 83. FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT & MY SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THIER WAS NO IMPACT TO THE VEHICLE
I HAVE MADE A COMPLAINT TO ATTORNEY GENERAL OFFICE ALSO.. I BOUGHT MY NISSAN BRAND NEW AUGUST 2017, NOT EVEN A YEAR OLD IT STARTED HAVING ISSUES , WITH THE PUSH BUTTON START AND THE BRAKES. I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AND MY CAR STOP. I COULD NOT MOVE IT THIS WAS 2018 WHERE YOU CANT MOVE THE CAR OR START IT . IT WAS TOWED TO NISSAN DEALER. THEY STATED THAT IT WAS THE BRAKE SWITCH SYSTEM FAILURE .THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM WITH 2017 NISSAN ALTIMAS. VERY DANGEROUS! IN 2019 THE SAME ISSUE HAPPEN AGAIN BRAKE SWITCH SYSTEM FAILURE. I ALSO HAVE RECEIPTS STATING THIS. THE CAR STOP ON A BUSY STREET. I WAITED 2 HOURS FOR NISSAN ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE , THEY TOWED IT TO NISSAN. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE. THER SHOULD BE A RECALL ABOUT THE BRAKE SWITCH SYSTEM FAILURE.THE TOWED IT TO KLINE NISSAN IN MAPLEWOOD. THIS ISSUE HAPPEN TWICE I DON'T KNOW I MAY HAPPEN AGAIN. I COULD HAVE BEEN ON THE FREEWAY CAR JUST STOPS!! I DID CONTACT NISSAN NORTH AMERICA,CONSUMER AFFAIRS. THEY DID NOTHING I STATED THAT VERY DANGEROUS BRAKE ISSUE AND THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL .
THE POWER STEERING PUMP (2017 NISSAN ALTIMA SR, 2.4L, 35,980 MILES) BEGAN TO PRODUCE WHINING NOISES (HIGH FREQUENCY PITCH SOUNDS) BOTH WHEN THE ENGINE RUNS WITH MOVING AND WHEN THE CAR MOVES. PARTICULARLY, WHEN I TURN THE STEERING WHEEL WHILE THE ENGINE IS ON, IT PRODUCES HIGHER NOISES. IF I DON'T TURN THE POWER STEERING WHEEL WHILE THE ENGINE IS ON, IT PRODUCES LOWER WHINING SOUNDS. THUS, BOULDER NISSAN IN COLORADO REPLACED THE PROBLEMATIC PUMP WITH A NEW ONE. HOWEVER, THE NEW ONE IS NOT THE SOLUTION AT ALL. I HAVE COMPLAINED THIS ISSUE AGAINST BOULDER NISSAN. THEY COULDN'T SOLVE THE ISSUE BECAUSE THE POWER STEERING PUMP ITSELF IS DEFECTIVE. I KNOW ALL OF 2011 ~ 2018 ALTIMA HAVE THE SAME ISSUE, WHICH HAS BEEN WELL KNOWN ON THE INTERNET. NISSAN COMPANY MUST RECALL THE POWER STEERING WHEEL PUMP AND REPLACE IT WITH A NEWLY DESIGNED PUMP (NOT THE SAME DEFECTIVE ONE). WHAT HAPPENS IF THE POWER STEERING WHEEL DOESN'T FUNCTION PROPERLY WHILE DRIVING?
CAR IS NOT SHIFTING PROPERLY BY ITSELF WHEN ACCELERATING GET STUCK IN THE FIRST GEAR. ALSO PERIODICALLY THE PEDAL HAS A THREE SECOND DELAY WHEN PRESSING ON IT TO ACCELERATE THIS HAPPENS ALMOST DAILY. THE ONLY REMEDY THAT FIXES IT IS TO SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RESTART IT. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS STOPPED AS FAR AS THE PEDAL GOES. THE ACCELERATION WHERE IT DOES NOT SHIFT CAN HAPPEN AT ANY TIME BUT AT LEAST HAPPENS 2 TO 3 TIMES A WEEK DOES IT MATTER IF I'M ON THE HIGHWAY OR ON A REGULAR ROAD.
THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AND THE CAR HAD NO POWER. IT HAPPENED TWICE WITHIN 3 MONTHS AND THE DEALER DIDN'T WANT TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY THE 2ND TIME, THEY CLAIMED I HAD RODENT DAMAGE TO THE TRANSMISSION SPEED SENSOR HARNESS. I HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET $450.00
WHEN MY CAR IS AT A STOP LIGHT AND THE LIGHT TURNS GREEN, IT TAKES A WHILE FOR MY CAR TO ACCELERATE WHEN I PRESS THE PEDAL. THIS HAPPENS EVERY NOW AND THEN, NOT EVERY TIME. ALSO SOMETIMES WHEN I'M TRYING TO ACCELERATE MY CAR'S RPM STALLS AT THE 3/4 AND STRUGGLES TO SHIFT DOWN LIKE NORMAL. I AM ABLE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM IF I TURN OFF THEN TURN MY CAR BACK ON. THESE ARE TWO LARGE ISSUES THAT I'M HAVING WITH MY 2017 NISSAN ALTIMA.
TUESDAY, NOV 12TH, APPROXIMATELY 7 PM, WHILE IN THE MIDDLE OF EVENING TRAFFIC ON A BUSY THOROUGHFARE, VEHICLE LOST COMPLETE POWER AND COASTED TO A STOP ON SIDE OF ROAD. PRIOR TO THIS, VEHICLE LOST POWER TEMPORARY ABOUT 20 MINUTES PRIOR ON ANOTHER VERY BUSY STRETCH OF ROAD BUT WAS ABLE TO RESTART. THROUGHOUT THE DAY, THE CAR WOULD SPUTTER WHILE IN MOTION. BY THE EVENING THE SPUTTERING BECAME MORE INTENSE AND WAS MORE INDICATIVE OF THE VEHICLE TRYING TO CUT OFF. THE SUDDEN SLOW DOWN, AND ALMOST STOPPING CAUSED DRIVER AND PASSENGER TO JERK FORWARD AND BACK AS THE VEHICLE WOULD SLOW ALMOST TO A COMPLETE STOP (EVEN WITH PRESSURE ON GAS PEDDLE). TO KEEP CAR FROM CUTTING OFF REQUIRED FLOORING GAS PEDDLE. VEHICLE PURCHASED AT APPROX 67,000 MILES ON NOV. 5TH. DISCOVERED HORN DID NOT WORK PROPERLY EITHER.
MY CAR ALWAYS QUIT OFF WHILE I AM DRIVING FOR WHATEVER REASON. I WAS DROPPING MY KIDS OFF AT SCHOOL ONE DAY IN TRAFFIC AND IT CUT OFF ON ME AND IT ALSO CUT OFF ON ME ON THE RAILROAD TRACKS, THERE WASN'T A TRAIN INSIGHT THANK GOD.... THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS...
MY CAR IS LESS THAN 3 YEARS OLD AND MAINTAINED PROPERLY. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR IT STARTS TO HESITATE WHILE TRYING TO ACCELERATE AND AT TIMES IT IT SHAKES VIOLENTLY. I HAVE CONTACTED NISSAN AND THEY SEEM IN NO RUSH TO ASSIST ME IN GETTING IT FIXED ALTHOUGH THE BIG ISSUE JUST OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING HOME WHERE MY CAR RPM SHOT ALL THE WAY UP BUT MY CAR HAD NO ACTUAL ACCELERATION TO IT IN A 55PMH ZONE WHERE I COULD HAVE BEEN CRASHED INTO BY CARS MOVING QUICKLY.
I HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR SPUTTERING, STALLING AND NOT SHIFTING IN GEAR FOR MONTHS BUT THOUGHT IT WAS A TRANSMISSION FUEL PROBLEM. AT THE END OF SEPT THE PROBLEMS GOT WORSE WHERE THE CAR WOULD HARDLY DRIVE. FINALLY DECIDED TO TAKE TO TRANSMISSION SHOP BUT THE CAR COMPLETELY STOPPED IN THE SHOP'S DRIVEWAY AND HAD TO BE PUSHED INTO THE STALL. WAS TOLD THE TRANSMISSION WAS BAD AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED ON A 2017 ALTIMA? DIDN'T HAVE THE $5000 NEEDED SO I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO MY AUNT'S HOUSE WHERE IT STILL SITS FOR REPOSSESSION. I HAVE SMALL CHILDREN AND DON'T NEED A CAR THAT STALLS IN TRAFFICE TO THIS EXTENT IN TRAFFIC!
TRUNK IS CLOSE BUT DASH BOARD SAYS OPEN WHILE DRIVING IT BEEPS AND PERIODICALLY HESITATES TO TAKE OFF AT NORMAL SPEED
IN MY DRIVEWAY AT HOME GETTING MY BAGS, PURSE FELL OVER WENT TO REACH TO GET ITEMS THAT FELL OUT BETWEEN THE SEAT ON DRIVER SIDE AND FINGER STUCK IN BRACKET, COULD NOT TAKE MY FINGER OUT BY MYSELF BECAUSE OF THE BRACKET HAS METAL RIGIDES AROUND IT HAD TO CALL 911 AND THEY SENT OUT THE PARAMEDIC THEY HAD TO CALL THE FIRE DEPT. TO CUT THE SEAT FRAME BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T REMOVE MY FINGER FROM BRACKET ALSO SO I WOULDN'T HAVE ANYMORE DAMAGES TO THE FINGER.*DT*JB
THE VEHICLE STALLS AND WON'T CATCH WHEN IT IS PUT INTO GEAR. I WAS ALMOST STUCK IN PARKING LOT WHILE TRYING TO BACK INTO A SPOT. THE CAR JUMPS/STUTTERS AND WHEN IT WAS PUT ON CRUISE CONTROL, IT WOULD LOSE SET SPEED AND THEN CATCH UP AGAIN. IF I GAVE THE CAR GAS, IT WOULDN'T GO EVEN WITH THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR.
MY CAR STOPPED RUNNING. THEN IT WOULD NOT CATCH IN DRIVE OR IN REVERSE. IT JUST STOPS RUNNING SOMETIMES AND SOMETIMES DOESN'T START AT ALL.
MY VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW FROM FRED HAAS NISSAN - TOMBALL, TX ON MARCH 5, 2018. THE VEHICLE NOW HAS 42,250 MILES ON IT AND HAS DEVELOPED A BRAKING ISSUE. THE MASTER CYLINDER OR BRAKE BOOSTER IS FAILING ON THE CAR WHICH IS CAUSING THE VEHICLE STOPPING DISTANCE TO ALMOST DOUBLE WHEN ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A COMPLETE STOP. THE DEALERSHIP IS UNWILLING TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS DUE TO IT BEING JUST OUTSIDE OF THE 36,000 MILE WARRANTY.
THE CVT TRANSMISSION IN THE ALTIMA STOPPED WORKING AND VERY VERY NEARLY CAUSED A BIG ACCIDENT WHICH WAS ALMOST NOT AVOIDED DUE TO THIS. IT WAS IN MOTION IN TRAFFIC PEOPLE ALMOST HIT ME BECAUSE I HAD NO POWER TO GO. I WAS ON A MAJOR BOULEVARD WITH RUSH HOUR.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY VEHICLE SUDDENLY BEGAN EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH ACCELERATION AND BEGAN A SLOW SHUDDERING OR SHAKING. 15 MINUTES LATER THE ENGINE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT CAME AND LUCKY FOR ME I WAS ALREADY HOME. HOWEVER BEGAN EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS KEEPING THE VEHICLE IN GEAR AND THE VEHICLE HESITATED TO REVERSE. TOOK IT IMMEDIATELY TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THE PROBLEM WAS A BAD SUB ASSEMBLY THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. "NISSAN IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM" THE TECH TOLD AND THEY WOULD REPLACE THE SUB ASSEMBLY AT NO COST TO ME AS I WISELY HAD DECIDED TO GET THE 150K WARRANTY. I WAS HURRIED INTO A LOANER -RENTAL VEHICLE AND TOLD IT MAY TAKE OVER TWO WEEKS JUST FOR THE SUB ASSEMBLY TO ARRIVE.
2017 NISSAN ALTIMA CVT TRANSMISSION STALLS AND JERK WHEN DRIVING AT 60-65 MILES PER HOUR HIGHWAY AND AT A RED LIGHT HAVE TO PUSH START TO CONTINUE DRIVING WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURIES OR DEATH
CVT - CONTINUOUS VARIABLE TRANSMISSION FAILURE AND NEEDS REPLACEMENT WITH 2017 NISSAN ALTIMA SL AND 37K MILES ON THE VEHICLE. ALL HIGHWAY MILES AND CAR IS EXACTLY 2 YEARS YOUNG. CAR WOULD NOT GO FORWARD OR IN REVERSE.
WHEN I STOP AT A RED LIGHT AND PUT MY FOOT ON THE GAS TO PROCEED IT WOULD BARELY MOVE AND THEN TAKE OFF. MY CAR HAS UNDER 19,500 MILES AND THE CAMERA IS MESSED UP, MY CAR WOULDN'T START BEFORE, MY BLUETOOTH HESITATES AT TIMES AND MY WARNING LIGHTS ARE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. NOW MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS AND I GET MY OIL CHANGES DONE AND JUST GOT MY BRAKES DONE AND MY CAR IS SQUEALING AGAIN.
I HAVE LESS THAT 8000 MILES ON VEHICLE. I'M A DISABLED VETERAN WITH A SERVICE RELATED DISABILITY. I'VE HAD THE CAR MAYBE TWO YEARS. I WAS ON THE I-12 AND THE CAR BEGIN TO DECELERATE OFF AND ON AND THEN STALLED ON ME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE OFF RAMP. I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED OR INJURED. CAR STILL ISNT PAID OFF. I'VE READ OTHER YEAR MODLES WITH SAME ISSUES AND NO FIXES EITHER HELP OR SOLVE THE PROBLEM. WHAT OR MY RIGHTS AND CURRENTLY AWAITING FOR DEALER TO LOOK AT CAR.
DIM HEADLIGHTS- BULBS HAVE BEEN CHANGED BUT NO DIFFERENCE. BASICALLY CAR CANNOT BE DRIVEN AFTER DUSK. BRIGHT LIGHTS WORK FINE BUT THE DIM ARE SO DIM YOU CANY TELL THEY ARE EVEN ON. NO VISIBILITY AT NIGHT- SAFETY PROBLEM FOR ALL INVOLVED.
I PURCHASED MY CAR IN 2018, IN FEBRUARY OF 2019 I HAD MY FRONT BRAKES CHANGED, NOT EVEN TWO MONTHS LATER THE SQUEAKING NOISE STARTED AGAIN ON THE SAME FRONT BRAKE MECHANIC TOLD ME THEY WAS DEFECTED BRAKE PADS SO HE CHANGED THEM AND PLACE SOME NEW ONES ON THE CAR. NOW I PICKED MY CAR UP FROM SHOP AND TWO DAYS LATER THE BRAKES ARE SQUEAKING AGAIN. I'VE INQUIRED WITH OTHERS WHO HAS THE SAME MODEL CAR AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY HAVE BEEN HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS AT THIS POINT I THINK THIS IS SOMETHING THAT NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO BECAUSE I SHOULDN'T GO THROUGH THAT MANY BRAKE PADS ON A NEW VEHICLE. THE SQUEAKING USUALLY TAKE PLACE WHEN I PRESS BRAKES TO COME TO A STOP.
NISSAN AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONING. THE ALARM GOES OFF 'FRONT RADAR UNAVAILABLE DUE TO OBSTRUCTION" AND LITTLE SYMBOL LIGHTS UP OF TWO CARS CRASHING ON DASHBOARD PANEL. MY VEHICLE STOPS SHORT INTERMITTENTLY WHEN THIS WARNING OCCURS. I HAVE NOTICED THE PROBLEM IS MORE FREQUENT WHEN I MAKE A TURN, GO OVER A SPEED BUMP OR IN INCLEMENT WEATHER IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN MORE FREQUENTLY... CAR COMES TO COMPLETE STOP WITHOUT ME TOUCHING THE BRAKE. I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED TWICE TODAY BECAUSE OF THIS. ON THE WAY HOME FROM WORK TODAY THE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON 3 TIMES AFTER MAKING SEVERAL RIGHT TURNS ON CITY STREET IT WAS ALSO RAINING. MY CAR STOPPED SHORT AND CAR BEHIND ME HAD TO SLAM ON THEIR BREAKS TO AVOID HITTING ME. .
MY SMART KEY STOP TO WORK, WHEN WORK IN THE DASH SHOWS UP KEY ERROR, CAR DON T WANT TO OPEN OR START, LOCK OR OPEN. I GOT TWO KEYS AND BOTH GOT SAME PROBLEM
THE FEB (FRONT RADAR OBSTRUCTION) READS UNAVAILABLE WHILE DRIVING EITHER IN THE CITY OR HIGHWAY. NOTE: THIS HAPPENS WHEN IS CLEAR OUTSIDE AND WHILE IS WINDY, RAINING, FOGGY. MIND YOU THE IDEA OF HAVING THIS SYSTEM IS TO AID THE DRIVER TO PREVENT ACCIDENTS. BUT IT WILL NOT DO SUCH IF IT IS NOT WORKING, SPECIALLY WHILE DRIVING ON THE ABOVEMENTIONED CONDITIONS. THIS FAULT STARTED ON 27 OCT 2018 AT 4:19PM AND IS OCCURRING ON A CONSISTENT BASIS EVEN SINCE. LAST DAY TO OCCUR WAS MONDAY 27 MAY 2019.
TAKAKA RECALL I HAVE A 2017 NISSAN ALTIMA THAT STOPS IN MIDLE OF THE HWAY. WHEN I DRIVE AROUND 60 MILES PER HOUR WITH MY 2 KIDS INSIDE. I HAVE TO STOP IN THE SIDE WITH HEAVI TRAFFIC AND WAIT UNTIL HELP ARRIVE. 2 HOURS LATER IN STILL STUCK WITH SCARE KIDS AND I DRIVE THE CAR WHIT SLIPPING TRANSMISION TO THE NISSAN DEALER WHERE OF COURSE THEY DONT WANT TAKE ANY RESPONSABILTY I FOUND ALL COMPLAINTS ONLINE AND LAWSUITS AGAINST NISSAN FOR THE CVT TRANSMISION AND RECALL HAS TO BE ENFORCED
TRANSMISSION FAILED ON INTERSTATE AT APPROXIMATELY 70MPH. I WAS TOLD BY THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP GARAGE MANAGER THAT THEY REALLY DON'T KNOW WHY THEY FAIL EXCEPT THAT THEY THINK THE TRANSMISSION OVERHEATS DUE TO UNDERSIZED PUMP AND MESH NOT ALLOWING ENOUGH CIRCULATION. EVERYTHING WAS REPLACED AT NISSAN'S EXPENSE, HOWEVER I HAVE NO CONFIDENCE IN THE REPAIR. WHEN THIS HAPPENED THERE WAS NOT A SINGLE WARNING LIGHT OR MESSAGE THAT APPEARED ON THE DASH.
MY 2017 NISSAN ALTIMA THAT CURRENTLY HAS 35,000 SIMPLY LOST ALL POWER. I COULDN'T USE THE FOB KEY TO OPEN THE DOOR, THERE WERE NO LIGHTS, NO RADIO, NOTHING. BECAUSE IT IS STILL UNDER MANUFACTURER WARRANTY, I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND LEFT IT WITH THEM FOR TWO DAYS FOR THEM TO FIGURE OUT WHAT'S WRONG. THEY WEREN'T ABLE TO SPECIFICALLY IDENTIFY WHAT WAS WRONG. THE CAR EVENTUALLY STARTED ONCE THEY HOOKED IT UP TO THE DIAGNOSTIC COMPUTER. THE LIGHTS CAME ON AND THE CAR ALARM WAS ACTIVATED. THE MECHANICS WERE TOTALLY DUMBFOUNDED BY THE EVENTS. THEY COULDN'T TELL ME WHAT WAS THE REASON FOR THE CAR LOSING ALL POWER. TWO DAYS LEADING UP TO THE CAR LOSING ALL POWER, I NOTICED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT A SPEED THAT IS WITH THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC, IF FOR WHATEVER REASON I HAVE TO SLOW OR COME TO A COMPLETE STOP, THE CAR SHUTTERS. IT FELT AS IF THE CAR WAS ABOUT LOSE POWER AND SHUTDOWN. I HAD A SIMILAR EXPERIENCE WITH MY 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. IT ACTUALLY SHUTDOWN A COUPLE OF TIMES IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC A COUPLE TIMES. THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED WITH A RECALL THAT UPDATED SOME SORT OF SOFTWARE FOR THAT CAR AND AFTER THAT UPDATE I NEVER HAD THE PROBLEM AGAIN. I GAVE THAT CAR TO MY PARENTS AND THEY HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED IT SHUTTING NOW. THE PROBLEM THAT I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING WITH THE 2017 CAR IS IDENTICAL TO THE PROBLEM I HAD WITH THE 2011 ALTIMA. IT IS FLAT OUT DANGEROUS AND I AM CONCERN IT COULD COST ME MY LIFE.
DISTRACTING WIND NOISE FROM DRIVER SIDE, POSSIBLY MIRROR PAST YEARS HAVE HAD DRIVER SIDE MIRROR RECALLS. THE NOISE DISTRACTS THE DRIVER AND CLOSING THE MIRROR STOPS THE NOISE BUT RENDERS THE MIRROR UNUSABLE AND DANGEROUS
CAR SLOWS DOWN WHILE DRIVING OR ACCELERATES GAS PEDALS GET STUCK
THE CVT TRANSMISSION FAILED WHICH TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY. CAR DECELERATED ON THE HIGHWAY. I DRIFTED TO AN EXIT AND MANAGED TO GET TO A PARK AND RIDE. THIS PRESENTED A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE ON THE HIGHWAY AS I TRIED TO DRIFT ACROSS A SIDE ROAD TO A PARK AND RIDE
PROBLEM WITH MY 2017 ALTIMA SL. KNOCKING NOISE IN STEERING AT LOW SPEED NOISE COMING FROM STEERING. WENT BACK TO MY NISSAN DEALER AND THEY INSPECTED AND FOUND THAT NOISE IS NORMALL. THEY TOLD ME THAT IF THE NOISE GETS LOAD OR A LEAK TO BRING IT BACK. I TOLD THEM THAT I FEEL THAT ITS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE KNOWING THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM BUT NISSAN WARRANTY DOESN'T WANT TO COVER IT AND IT'S THE OLD RUNNING AROUND UNTIL IT BREAKS AND PERHAPS IT'S ON SAFE FOR MY FAMILY TO RIDE IN THIS CAR KNOWING THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT'S WHY I'M WRITING FOR THIS COMPLAINT THANK YOU.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PARK THE VEHICLE, IT CAUGHT FIRE UNDER THE HOOD IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WITHOUT WARNING. THE PARKING ATTENDANT ATTEMPTED TO START THE VEHICLE AND IT EXPLODED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY TO AN IMPOUND LOT. THE VEHICLE NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
THE FRONT EMERGENCY BRAKING (FEB) WARNING LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING. THE WARNING STATES, " FRONT RADAR UNAVAILABLE DUE TO OBSTRUCTION". THIS HAS OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREETS, SHORT AND LONG DISTANCE DRIVING, AS WELL AS ON THE HIGHWAY AND WHILE TURNING. THIS WAS ESPECIALLY CONCERNING WHEN IT HAPPENED WHILE MAKING A TURN. THE WARNING WENT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF MAKING A TURN AND IT WAS DISORIENTING AS IT WAS COMPLETELY UNEXPECTED.. THIS WARNING NOW GOES OFF RANDOMLY ON A DAILY BASIS AND I JUST BOUGHT THE CAR 2 WEEKS AGO.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED AND THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. ALSO, WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THE GEAR DID NOT SHIFT INTO DRIVE UNTIL THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO NISSAN OF NEWNAN (678-552-4957, LOCATED AT 783 BULLSBORO DR, NEWNAN, GA 30265) WHERE IT WAS STATED THAT THE WARRANTY EXPIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000.
I WAS STANDING IN DINING ROOM WHEN I HEARD A LOUD SOUND. I WALKED OUTSIDE AND SAW METAL CABINET (WHICH CONTAINED VARIOUS CLEANING PRODUCTS, SPRAY PAINT, ETC) NEXT TO FRONT LEFT TIRE OF 2017 NISSAN ALTIMA ON FIRE. I DID NOT WALK FAR ENOUGH OFF PORCH TO EXAMINE IF CAR WAS ON FIRE AT THAT TIME. I RAN BACK INSIDE AND GOT MY SON AND HIS GIRLFRIEND OUT OF HOUSE. I CALLED 911 AND MOVED FRIENDS VEHICLE (WHICH WAS PARKED BEHIND MINE.) MY SON REPORTED SEEING FRONT LEFT TIRE OF THE PARKED ALTIMA LOCATED INSIDE CARPORT ON FIRE AND ATTEMPTED TO PUT IT OUT WITH FIRE EXTINGUISHER. CAR AND PART OF HOUSE BURNED UNTIL FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED AND PUT FIRE OUT. CAR WAS DEEMED TOTAL LOSS BY INSURANCE AND HOUSE IS UNLIVABLE DUE TO FIRE AND SMOKE DAMAGE. *DT VIN IS INVALID*JB
FRONT EMERGENCY BRAKING (FEB) WARNING LIGHTS COMES ON AND THEN OFF, STATES UNAVAILABLE OBSTRUCTION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2017 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS TRAVELING AS A PASSENGER AT APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE VEHICLE WAS STRUCK ON THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. ALL THE FRONTAL AND SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. POLICE REPORT NUMBER: 18002915 WAS FILED. THE DRIVER AND CONTACT WERE INJURED AND TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL VIA AMBULANCE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED WITH EXCESSIVE FORCE AND FRAGMENTS OF GLASS AND GRAVEL STRUCK HER FACE. BOTH OCCUPANTS WERE TREATED AND RELEASED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN IMPOUND LOT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,100. *DT*JB.*BF CONSUMER STATED THE OTHER VEHICLE FAILED TO YIELD RIGHT OF WAY ON A RED LIGHT. CONSUMER ALSO STATED SHE HAS ALMOST LOST HER RIGHT EYE AND HAS HAD 3 SURGERIES AND IS STILL UNDER DOCTOR'S CARE.*JB
SINCE THE START OF 2018 I HAVE HAD MY CAR SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE TAKEN IT MULTIPLE DEALERSHIPS TO HELP SOLVE THIS ISSUE. EVERY TIME THEY CAME BACK AND SAID THAT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND NOTHING COULD DO FOR ME. I HAVE REACHED OUT TO THE MANUFACTURE THEY ALSO SAID THE SAME THING THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY THAT I STATED. THIS IS STILL UNDER MANUFACTURE WARRANTY AND THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING.
THE RIGHT REAR WINDOW CLOSES VERY SLOWLY ALL THE TIME
THE COLLISION AVOIDANCE SYSYTEM COME ON WHEN THERE IS NOTHING IN THE AREA WHILE I AM DRIVING . IS NOW HAPPENING EVERY DAY .
MAKES A POPPING AND CLANKING NOISE WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS SLOWLY
VEHICLE WAS ABOUT 10,000 MILES WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON LOCAL TARSEAL ROAD THAT HAD NO CUBS TIRE GOT FLAT AND ITS WENT INTO BIG HOLES THAT CAN NOT BE REPAIRED.. TIRE GOT FLAT WITH BIG HOLES ABOUT 10 MONTHS BRAND NEW VEHICLE. TIRE CAME WITH 60,000 MILES WARRANTY OR 6 YEARS WARRANTY. MILEAGE ON THIS LOCAL ROAD WAS 40 MPH.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS CRANKED, THE CONTACT HEARD A DRILLING SOUND. THE NOISE OCCURRED FOR AT LEAST TWO MONTHS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ALL STAR NISSAN (27700 JUBAN ROAD, DENHAM SPRINGS, LA 70726) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TUBING THAT TRAVELED FROM THE POWER STEERING PUMP TO THE STEERING COLUMN WAS VIBRATING AND CAUSED THE SOUND. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND THAT IT WAS COMMON FOR THAT YEAR AND MODEL VEHICLE; HOWEVER, THERE WAS NO REMEDY AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,600.
AS I AM DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE MY VEHICLE STARTS SPIDER AND JERK AND LOSE POWER MAKING IT HARD TO ACCELERATE. THEN BEGINS TO ONLY REV AT A HIGH RPM AND NOT MOVE FORWARD SO I AUTOMATICALLY ASSUME TRANSMISSION AND AFTER FURTHER REVIEW OF CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS AND TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS, I REALIZE THAT THIS HAS BEEN A ISSUE WITH THIS MANUFACTURER FOR MANY YEARS. AND ALSO THAT MANY HAVE BEEN REFUSED SERVICE FROM POWERTAIN WARRANTIES THAT COVER TRANSMISSION ISSUES ON THE VEHICLE!!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE REFUELING THE VEHICLE WITH THE SHIFT LEVER IN PARK, THE VEHICLE ROLLED AWAY SEVERAL FEET FROM WHERE IT WAS PARKED. MY CAR IS RUNNING VERY HARD IT'S NOT SMOOTH ANYMORE I FEEL THE PRESSURE COMING FROM THE WHEEL AND THE STEERING WHEEL IS NOT STRAIGHT AS SUPPOSED TO.
I WAS INVOLVED IN A 8 CAR COLLISION ON THE INTERSTATE. THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF THEM, I HIT THEIR CAR AND WAS THEN HIT FROM BEHIND FOLLOWED BY 2 MORE VEHICLES. MY AIRBAG NEVER DEPLOYED. *DSY
THE FORWARD COLLISION WARNING SYSTEM STOPPED WORKING. THE DEALER 441 SOUTHERN NISSAN IN WELLINGTON, FL REFUSED TO TEST THE CAR AFTER THEIR COMPUTER SAID THE SYSTEM WAS WORKING. I CALLED NISSAN AND THEY REFERRED ME TO ANOTHER DEALER. THE OTHER DEALER, GREENACRES NISSAN INDICATED THEY KNEW THERE WAS A PROBLEM AFTER CHECKING IT OUT AND SAID THEY ORDERED THE PART. THE PART DID NOT ARRIVE AND NOW THEY SAY NO ONE IN THE AREA HAS THE PART. I BELIEVE THERE IS A BIGGER PROBLEM WITH THESE RADAR SENSORS. SOMEONE IN THE SERVICE DEPT TOLD ME THEY HEARD THERE IS A SOFTWARE FIX BEING WORKED ON. THIS IS A CRITICAL SAFETY FEATURE. THANKS,

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 NISSAN ALTIMA. SIX MONTHS AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE ELECTRONIC ONBOARD DISPLAY ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL DISPLAYED AN INACCURATE READING OF THE FUEL MILEAGE PER GALLON. THE DISPLAY WAS TEN PERCENT MORE THAN WHAT THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING AND WAS CONSISTENTLY HIGH. MY 2017 NISSAN ALTIMA IS NOT EVEN A YEAR OLD AND HAS LESS THEN 10,000 MILES ON IT. DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY I HEARD A POP AND IMMEDIATELY GOT OFF THE FREEWAY. MY TIRE, WHICH HAS GREAT TREAD, HAS BLOWN AND ONE OF THE LUGS SHOT BACK INTO THE WHEEL. I BELIEVE THIS IS DUE TO A DEFECT WITH THE PARTICULAR LUG. IT WAS NOT PROPERLY SECURED AND BECAME LOOSE CAUSING EXTENSIVE DAMAGE. THIS SHOULD BE COVERED BY NISSAN, BUT THEY ARE REFUSING TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DEFECT IN THEIR PRODUCT.
THE INSULATION THAT WRAPS THE ELECTRICAL CABLING TO ENGINE AND OTHER WORKING PARTS TO CAR ARE WRAPPED WITH A CORN AND SOIL PRODUCT AND RATS ATE THE INSIDE OF MY CAR TO THE POINT THAT THE CAR WOULD NOT WORK. IT IS 5 MONTHS OLD WITH 7,000 MILES.
MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE STALLS IN FRONT OF THE CASEY'S GENERAL STORE ENTRANCE IN EVANSVILLE, WISCONSIN. I WAS PARKED THERE FROM 8AM-5PM AND WHEN I RETURNED TO MY VEHICLE, THERE WAS DAMAGE TO THE REAR RIGHT BUMPER AS IF ANOTHER VEHICLE HAD SWIPED MINE BACKING IN OR OUT OF THE NEIGHBORING STALL. THERE WAS NO PREVIOUS DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE-IT WAS IN PERFECT CONDITION AS IT IS BRAND NEW.
TAKATA RECALL

NONE YET. RECEIVED A POSTCARD TO FILL IN INFORMATION FOR FUTURE RECALL TAKATA AIRBAGS/
WHEN THE BACK DRIVER SIDE WINDOW IS ROLLED DOWN, THE BACK DRIVER SIDE DOOR OPENS ON ITS OWN. THIS OCCURRED WHEN MY CHILD WAS SITTING IN THE BACK SEAT AND THE DOOR OPENED ON ITS OWN. THIS OCCURRED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY IN A PARKING LOT WITH THE DOORS UNLOCKED.
EMERGENCY FORWARD BRAKING DOES NOT DO ANYTHING THAT THE NISSAN BOOK OUTLINES OR THE ON LINE VIDEO OUTLINES . I HAVE TWO CASE NUMBERS 25746321 AND25772524 AND TWO DEALERSHIPS THE WORK REPORT SAYS NO CODE NO PROBLEM.
MY 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA COUPE HAS A DASHBOARD THAT IS MELTING AND BECOMING STICKY TO THE TOUCH. AS THE MELTING AND STICKINESS PROGRESS, THE DASHBOARD IS BECOMING SHINY AND THERE IS A GLARE OCCURRING MAKING IT HARD TO SEE THE ROAD. AS THE STICKINESS AND GLARE BECOME WORSE, THIS VEHICLE IS BECOMING DANGEROUS TO DRIVE.

The blue line shows 379 total NHTSA complaints filed over 10 years, with the worst year being 2020 (78 complaints, including 5 crash reports).
The amber reliability line averaged 13/100 across the vehicle's life — dropping as low as 10 in 2018 when complaint severity peaked.
Notably, despite 379 complaints on file, no recall has been issued — either the defect pattern has not met NHTSA's threshold for a formal campaign, or a recall may be forthcoming.
Red dots on the amber line flag 10 years (2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026) where complaints included crash events — these are the highest-severity incidents in the dataset.
Nissan's Jatco continuously variable transmissions (CVT) suffer from overheating, shuddering, sudden deceleration, and premature failure. Nissan extended the CVT warranty following class action lawsuits. In some cases the warranty was extended further to 84,000 miles for documented repeat-failure vehicles. A class action settlement (Ponzio v. Nissan) provided additional reimbursement rights.
