SummaryNissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Altima vehicles manufactured January 3, 2013, to July 29, 2013, 2015-2016 Rogue vehicles manufactured October 14, 2014, to August 12, 2016, and 2016 Maxima vehicles manufactured June 4, 2015, to August 19, 2015. An incorrect Occupant Classification System (OCS) Electronic Control Unit (ECU) may have been installed in the front passenger seat. The incorrect ECU and seat combination may misclassify the front passenger seat occupant.

Nissan CVT Extended Warranty (Jatco JF016 / JF017)
Transmission – CVT (Jatco JF016E / JF017E)
COVERAGE:Extended to 5 years / 60,000 miles; some class action settlements provide additional coverage

Nissan's Jatco continuously variable transmissions (CVT) suffer from overheating, shuddering, sudden deceleration, and premature failure. Nissan extended the CVT warranty following class action lawsuits. In some cases the warranty was extended further to 84,000 miles for documented repeat-failure vehicles. A class action settlement (Ponzio v. Nissan) provided additional reimbursement rights.

HOW TO CLAIM: Contact Nissan Consumer Affairs (1-800-647-7261) and provide your VIN to check for any CVT extended warranty applicable to your specific model year and variant. Ask the dealer to check for any open special coverage authorizations in their warranty system.

Coverage eligibility depends on your VIN, original sale date, and current mileage. Always verify with an authorized dealer or manufacturer customer service — programs may have been updated since this database was compiled.
