The Center Display Audio / Infotainment Touchscreen unit continuously fails. The component is available for inspection upon request, as it remains installed in the vehicle in its malfunctioning state. Safety severely compromised due to extreme driver distraction caused by the unit erratically flashing, cycling through menus, and emitting continuous, loud audible beeps while operating the vehicle in active traffic. Additionally, the malfunction regularly causes the screen to freeze, completely disabling the rearview backup camera display and preventing the visual display of critical advanced driver-assist safety alerts. Yes. The failure was officially reproduced and confirmed by an authorized Honda dealership during a dedicated diagnostic appointment. The technician confirmed the erratic screen input behavior but noted it is a known manufacturer defect. Yes, it was inspected by the manufacturer's authorized dealership network. Furthermore, the manufacturer has inspected and documented this specific component failure at a corporate engineering level, tracking the defect under Honda Tech Line Summary Article AATS31549. There were no vehicle warning lamps or diagnostic trouble messages on the instrument cluster. The primary symptoms were rapid, unprompted audio beeping sounds and sudden menu changes occurring without anyone touching the screen. These symptoms began intermittently during periods of warmer weather and have since escalated into a permanent, continuous failure.

Vehicle: 2022 Honda Accord Hybrid Sport (VIN: [XXX]) Dealer: Rauli Auto Import LLC (Paterson, NJ, License [XXX]) Odometer at Sale: 141,836 miles Description of Severe Safety Defect and Resulting Accident: On October 16, 2026, this 2022 Honda Accord Hybrid was purchased from a used car dealership. The vehicle was delivered to the consumer with severe, pre-existing, and undisclosed braking system defects that made the vehicle an immediate safety hazard on public roads. On [XXX], just days after taking delivery, the vehicle was brought to an independent, licensed mechanic (Mega Auto Diagnostic Inc., Invoice [XXX]) due to severe handling and braking concerns. Following a certified inspection, the licensed technician officially documented catastrophic pre-existing safety failures on the vehicle. The mechanic certified that the vehicle had an active engine leak, completely failed front brakes, and completely worn-down rear brakes and rotors. The dealership sold the vehicle in a hazardous condition without performing mandatory safety inspections. Days after the mechanic's diagnosis, while attempting to park the vehicle, the pre-existing braking system failure caused a complete braking malfunction. The brakes did not respond as intended to slow down the vehicle, causing the driver to lose stopping control and collide with another parked vehicle. Furthermore, the dealership provided completely incorrect, mismatched insurance policy paperwork at the time of sale. When the consumer contacted the insurance provider to process the accident, the insurer flagged a profile error due to the mismatched data entered by the dealer, leaving the driver completely exposed at the moment of the mechanical failure and collision. The dealership has reacted with hostility, verbally insulted the consumer, and refused to accept the surrender of this dangerously defective vehicle or unwind the sales contract INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I am filing a complaint regarding a 2002 Honda Accord 2.0T purchased as a certified used vehicle in April 2026. The infotainment system is flawed and frequently malfunctions. I experience frequent, quick, sporadic display changes I am not commanding. The system will even turn itself back on after being turned off. These episodes continue for days and prove to be very distracting while operating the vehicle. I have contacted two different dealers in my area, both responded this is a "known issue" and Honda is no longer accepting warranty claims. I have contacted Honda corporate, received a response from an engineering contact which confirmed Honda is aware of the issues and does not have a solution. The vehicle is four years old this month, October 2026. It does not appear Honda is either actively pursuing a solution or willing to provide any type of financial compensation. Additionally, this vehicle is still covered by the certified warranty and extended warranty which cover electronics. Neither warranty is being honored for this issue. Judging from various online message board and social media accounts, this has been a widespread problem for owners of this and other Honda models manufactured during the same time. I determine this issue not only to be a safety hazard, but a breach of contract in reference to not honoring its two warranties. I have short video files of at least three instances I am able to share. Your site does not accept video files.

ODI #11771889UNKNOWN OR OTHER

The vehicle infotainment system has known issues to Honda and is glitchy to the point that it’s distracting to drive the vehicle. The system locks frequently, glitches between applications, engages Car Play applications like Apple’s Siri, and constantly takes my attention away from the road to deal with these issues. This constant distraction puts myself, my passengers, and other drivers at risk. This problem first started to appear ~ 2 years ago and has gotten significantly worse over time. The problem has been reproduced and confirmed by a Honda dealership and no resolution has been offered.

ODI #11771707ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

The touchscreen infotainment display in my 2022 Honda Accord is malfunctioning and is available for inspection on request. For many months it has registered touches I never made ("phantom touch"). It changes screens on its own, cancels active GPS navigation, closes or switches other features, and presses buttons, including the voice command button, while I'm using other functions. Safety risk: Because the screen acts on its own while the car is moving, navigation drops out mid-route and the voice assistant activates unexpectedly. I have to look at the screen and fix it instead of watching the road, which is a serious distraction, or I am forced to look at my phone for continuing the GPS navigation because it is no longer registering on the display screen. Dealer confirmation: I have not yet taken it to a dealer, as the dealership that I purchased the car at said it would cost $228.00 just for the diagnostic. Other inspections: Not yet inspected by police or insurance. Warning signs: No warning lamps or messages appear. The only symptom is the erratic touch behavior, which first appeared around 2023 and has become more frequent. I have photos/video of the behavior available. This matches many other owner complaints about 2021-2022 Accords, and I believe it should be investigated as a defect and the repair should be covered for free as a recall.

ODI #11771390ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

The infotainment touchscreen in my 2022 Honda Accord Sport experiences phantom or ghost touches. The screen changes menus on its own without driver input. It switches audio sources, changes settings, interrupts Apple CarPlay, and becomes unresponsive to touch commands. The problem occurs while driving and causes significant driver distraction because I must look away from the road to determine what the system is doing. The issue affects navigation, phone functions, and audio controls. This is a known problem affecting many 2018-2022 Honda Accords. Honda has acknowledged similar ghost-touch symptoms in technical communications, but no recall has been issued. The defect creates a safety risk by diverting driver attention from the roadway.

ODI #11770662ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

The infotainment system and center touchscreen display unit on my 2022 Honda Accord suffer a severe component failure commonly referred to as "Ghost Touch". The screen touches by itself so the radio, map, everything in the menu change by itself. Sometime, the radio turns on/off by itself too. When this happen, the touchscreen becomes unresponsive or freeze. This defect severely puts my safety and the safety of others at risk by creating extreme, unpredictable driver distractions. The sound of this "Ghost Touch" is pretty loud. I have brought it to the dealer, Vandergriff Honda, many times and they told me to wait for recall. They said if I would like to try by replacing the auto head unit and display, it will cost $6,511.31 as my car is over 3 years warranty. I contacted Honda Corporate, and they said replacing the auto head unit and display may still bring the same problems; therefore, they told me to wait. This is a severe manufacturing defect on my 2022 Honda Accord. It started on February 2026, often during summer when it is very hot. So far, I have not get into any accident but driving this car makes me worry and all I can do is wait for recall.

ODI #11770175ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

The infotainment system glitches and will not respond to touch or will have phantom “touches” where the system will make inputs on its own. This is worse when it’s really hot and was told by dealership that this is due to components overheating and malfunctioning, and it requires the full system to be replaced. This can be a major safety issue when driving the vehicle.

Oct.6 2026 Driving down Burbank Bl the car braked on its own with a huge jolt. I felt my neck whip. There was no danger of hitting a car in front and the weather was clear. The car behind me almost hit me. Oct.7, 2026 Driving up Magnolia bl with a passenger the car again braked unexpectedly jolting us whipping our necks. There was no danger of collision and there was no reason for the car to brake. Both times the orange brake light lit up on the dash. I will be taking the car in to the dealer. I became aware there's a federal investigation for this happening with multiple cars. I will also be going to the urgent care with my passenger tonight as the neck pain has increased.

ODI #11769178STEERING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES

While driving my Honda on a highway at approximately 65 mph after rainfall, I experienced a serious and potentially life-threatening safety failure. Without warning, the steering wheel suddenly became locked/restricted, making it extremely difficult to control the vehicle. At the same time, numerous warning lights and safety-system warnings appeared, including: - Brake system warning - Electric Power Steering (EPS) warning - Vehicle Stability Assist warning - Hill Start Assist warning - Adaptive Cruise Control warning - Lane Keeping Assist warning - Collision Mitigation Braking System warning - Road Departure Mitigation warning This incident occurred while I was traveling approximately 65 mph on the highway and nearly caused me to lose control and crash. The sudden loss/restriction of steering control combined with the simultaneous failure or disabling of multiple driver-assistance and safety systems created an extremely dangerous situation. The fact that this occurred after driving in rainy/wet conditions is also concerning. I have researched this issue online and found numerous reports from other Honda owners describing similar warning lights, steering/electric power steering problems, and multiple safety-system failures, particularly involving Honda Accord vehicles. I am extremely concerned that this may represent a recurring safety-related defect rather than an isolated incident. A steering system that can suddenly become locked or severely restricted while a vehicle is traveling at highway speed presents a serious risk of a crash, injury, or loss of life. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate this issue, review complaints involving similar Honda vehicles, and determine whether there is a common defect involving the electric power steering system, electrical system, water intrusion, or communication between the vehicle's safety-control modules. This problem needs to be investigated before someone is seriously injured or killed.Best regards.

The center display / infotainment touchscreen on my 2022 Honda Accord Hybrid Sport experiences repeated “phantom” or “ghost” touches. The screen registers inputs that are not being made by the driver or any passenger. This causes the system to randomly change audio sources (e.g., Bluetooth to AM/FM), open or close menus and apps, start or stop navigation, adjust volume, make unintended phone calls, and emit repeated beeping sounds. At the same time, the screen frequently becomes unresponsive or only partially responsive to actual intentional touches. This occurs most often (and most severely) when outside temperatures are hot. The display is mounted in the center of the dashboard and has a thin black plastic backing that absorbs heat, which appears to contribute to the malfunction. The problem was identified, demonstrated, and witnessed by the Honda dealership while the vehicle was still under the original factory warranty and had fewer than 20,000 miles. No parts have been replaced. The vehicle is now out of warranty. Dealership personnel indicated it is a known issue that has been escalated to regional Honda representatives and Honda engineering, that replacing the unit will not permanently fix the problem, and that no known permanent solution currently exists. This is a significant safety concern. The unexpected and continuous changes on the screen force the driver to look away from the road to try to correct the system or regain control of audio/navigation functions. There is no physical button or easy way to completely disable the touchscreen while driving. The distraction has created multiple near-miss situations. I have video documentation of the behavior occurring. Similar complaints from other 2018–2022 Honda Accord (including Hybrid) owners appear online and in public complaint databases. The design of the capacitive touchscreen / digitizer appears susceptible to heat-related failure or false inputs, and Honda has not issued a recall or effective techn

My 2022 Honda Accord has an ongoing issue with the infotainment touchscreen making selections on its own without being touched, commonly referred to as “ghost touch.” The screen randomly presses buttons, changes menus, changes audio/settings, and interferes with Apple CarPlay and normal touchscreen operation. The issue occurs repeatedly and can be very distracting while driving because the screen operates on its own and requires attention to correct or stop it. Restarting the system does not permanently resolve the problem. I am reporting this because it creates a driver-distraction/safety concern and I would like the issue documented and investigated.

ODI #11766065UNKNOWN OR OTHER

The infotainment center screen flickers and beeps and turns the radio on and off while I’m driving, creating a distraction that makes driving difficult and unsafe. I have reported this issue since I bought the car new in January 2022 to the dealer and they say the manufacturer is aware of it but has come up with no solution. The issue would temporarily stop for a few months at a time but has become consistent now. The navigation and GPS are nonfunctional. The issue has become so extreme that I am afraid of driving the car. The dealer has examined the car several times in The past theee years, always saying that that Honda is working in a solution.

ODI #11765892ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

The infotainment touchscreen/display system in my 2022 Honda Accord Hybrid is malfunctioning and experiences repeated false or “ghost/phantom” touches even though nobody is touching the screen. The system makes selections and changes functions on its own. The problem has gotten progressively worse over time, with a significant increase during the summer of 2026, particularly during hot weather. This creates a safety concern and significant driving distraction. When the phantom touches occur, I cannot reliably use the vehicle's hands-free phone system or map/navigation display. Because the map becomes unreliable, I sometimes have to look down at my phone rather than using the vehicle's display. The system has also initiated phone calls on its own. During phone calls, it will randomly activate the mute function without me touching the screen, causing me to look at the display and attempt to correct the problem while driving. These malfunctions interfere with hands-free features intended to reduce driver distraction. I showed a video of the malfunction to personnel at a Honda dealership. A service representative/manager told me that the dealership has seen this problem on multiple vehicles and has replaced screens and/or infotainment units without necessarily correcting the problem. He also indicated that the problem appears to occur more frequently or become worse with heat. My vehicle has not yet received a formal diagnostic inspection for this issue. There were no warning lamps or warning messages before the malfunction. The main symptom is the touchscreen registering inputs without being touched. The issue has become progressively worse, with a substantial increase during hot weather in the summer of 2026. During cooler conditions, it occurs less frequently. My vehicle and infotainment system are available for inspection upon request.

While I'm driving, it changes settings, opens menus, makes phone calls, and changes the volume or audio source on its own. This has happened about over 10 times since last year This is a safety issue. The sudden changes distract me while I'm driving, and I can't reliably control the screen, which also shows the backup camera. I request that NHTSA investigate this defect.

Touch screen on console has lots of ghost-touches .The audio screen keeps switching radio on when it was in off position. It goes into settings or prompts for factory reset while driving, and without touching it. Also, Android AutoPlay navigation keeps jumping around on the map, and giving excessive warnings for next turn, without touching it. This is an EXTREME driver distraction, esp. while trying to use navigation.

Driver safety issue. The touchscreen is nonrepsonsive and constantly glitches creating issues with navigation and also distraction. I have mad wrong turns, missed exits, and been completely distracted when dealing with this since I bought the vehicle. This is a common issue across this model with widespread complaints on the internet and dedicated discussion forums. The dealerships do patch jobs (sw updates) which does not directly resolve the issue. There are no actual diagnostics available that can identify a touchscreen issue to discern between an actual touch and a "ghost" touch. This is a driver safety issue and there are many videos online that show this type of glitching while driving. The technicians at the dealerships do not take the time to ever fully resolve this issue. I am taking my car back in for the 4th time tomorrow to get it reviewed. I imagine I am wasting more of my time and money to do this but it is not safe to drive like this. You have to experience it before you can say "it's just a touchscreen" issue. I've had passengers not understand how I can drive like this. And as mentioned above, it is not just me. Check the web. Honda should do a full recall on the infotainment system before someone, if it hasn't happened already, gets killed or injured. Thanks for reading. Very passionate on this issue. Can provide video of the issue if needed but there are plenty online if you should choose to search. It's bigger than my "touchscreen doesn't work."

The contact owns a 2022 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving 65 MPH, the infotainment screen unexpectedly started scrolling randomly. Additionally, there was a beeping sound during the failure. The failure was a recurring failure. The dealer was contacted and diagnosed the vehicle with an electrical failure. The contact stated that the manufacturer had not authorized the dealer to do the repair, even though the vehicle was under warranty. The manufacturer was contacted by phone and was made aware of the failure and stated there was no remedy available. The failure mileage was approximately 59,000.

My Honda Accord has a recurring infotainment/touchscreen malfunction commonly described as “phantom touch” or “ghost touch.” The touchscreen was replaced approximately one year ago under warranty for the same issue. The problem has now returned and is significantly worse. The infotainment system activates and changes functions without any input from the driver. The vehicle has experienced the following: Stereo turns on unexpectedly at an alarmingly high volume. Volume increases and decreases on its own. Radio stations change without driver input. The system automatically places phone calls without driver input. Phone connectivity turns off and back on by itself. Touchscreen selections and menus activate or change on their own. The backup camera does not always display when the vehicle is placed in reverse. These failures occur unpredictably, including while the vehicle is being operated, and create a significant driver distraction. The sudden high-volume audio and unexpected activation of phone, radio, and touchscreen functions can divert the driver’s attention from the road. I am particularly concerned that the backup camera intermittently fails to display when the vehicle is placed in reverse. Honda previously replaced the touchscreen under warranty because of the same malfunction. I recently returned the vehicle to Pensacola Honda in Pensacola, Florida, after the problem recurred. I was advised by the Service Manager that Honda considers the issue a programming problem and that no further repair or replacement would be performed. The problem remains unresolved and continues to occur. The prior touchscreen replacement did not provide a lasting correction. Because the system continues to activate functions without driver input and the backup camera does not consistently display when the vehicle is placed in reverse, I am reporting this recurring malfunction to NHTSA as a vehicle safety concern.

I have completely deleted and re-paired both Bluetooth and CarPlay; it works initially and then fails again after one or two ignition cycles. Re-pairing the phone is only a temporary fix. I'm also getting what I consider a safety hazard, where the Infotainment system cuts out phone calls, switches to the radio or changes radio stations without anybody touching it, sometimes several times in a 10-15 second period.

While driving, the infotainment screen unexpectedly resets, shuts down, switches audio channels/radio stations, and drops live navigation/maps. These spontaneous failures cause sudden, unpredictable driver distraction and eliminate essential turn-by-turn navigation during active trips. What is considered the “infotainment center” is what Honda is calling “ghosting”. It randomly selects things or doesn’t work. It makes it impossible to use maps via this device taking out the safe option to use directions. It is also highly distracting while driving as it could be randomly calling someone and you’re desperately trying to make it hang up while it’s also not responding so you have to dig out your phone which is not something that you should be grabbing while driving. It falsely reports crashes and cops etc to Google Maps. It randomly chooses what it does or doesn’t want to do and when. It’s chaotic and concerning on top of removing the ability to safely map places. Other times it doesn’t respond at all. Video available as needed. Too large to upload

I am writing because I am having an ongoing problem with my car stereo ghosting. I understand it to be the digitizer that Honda is fully aware of. When I called to speak with the service manager at the Honda dealership where I purchased my Honda Accord from in 2022, along with a Honda Care warranty, I received a well rehearsed and scripted response about Honda being aware of the problem. I was told that the issues they are experiencing with ghosting is a software issue and not a hardware issue, and for that reason Honda is no longer replacing the touchscreen or making any attempt to resolve these issues. According to the service manager at Hendrick Honda of Charleston, Gary Hamilton, their dealership has been instructed to stop switching out the hardware, as switching out the hardware has only made the problem worse than it already is. When I bought the 100K Honda Care extended warranty, with my vehicle in 2022, the key selling point that the sales manager used to sell me the warranty was all the things that could potentially go wrong with the vehicle’s electronics, including the Infotainment system and car computer. This problem that I have been experiencing with my car audio is NOT a new problem and has gotten progressively worse as time goes on. Honda has been having this same problem with all 10th generation Honda Accords (2018-2022). I pay for a monthly/annual subscription to SiriusXM radio, which I can no longer seem to enjoy because the infotainment system repeatedly kicks me out and goes completely haywire on me. I have a video that I took over a period of approximately one week and I am prepared to exercise my rights to getting this problem rectified and resolved if necessary. I am seeking a class action lawyer who may be willing to file a class action suit against American Honda Motor Corporation. In exercising due diligence, I’ve learned that the problems I am experiencing are the exact same kinds of problems that Honda Care is designed to protect us from

The infotainment touchscreen in my 2022 Honda Accord is malfunctioning and repeatedly registering phantom or “ghost” touches without any input from me. While I am driving, the system unpredictably changes screens, changes radio stations and audio settings, interferes with phone/CarPlay functions, and makes selections on its own. The malfunction can happen suddenly and repeatedly while the vehicle is in motion. This is frightening and creates a serious driving distraction because the unexpected activity draws my attention away from the road and causes me to try to determine what the system is doing or correct unwanted selections. I am concerned that this unpredictable malfunction could contribute to a crash. There is no warning before it occurs, and I cannot reliably predict or control when it will happen. The vehicle is available for inspection, and I am seeking evaluation by an authorized Honda dealership. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate whether this is a widespread safety-related defect because other owners have reported similar phantom-touch behavior.

Honda has told us in the past that the issue was with the USB cord being used but that is not it. This issue now happens anytime, not just when the USB is connected. All of the following has occurred: unexpected screen flashing/flickering; phantom or uncontrolled touchscreen inputs; unexpected menu changes; changes to radio stations or audio sources; sudden volume changes or unexpected sounds; navigation changes, cancellation, or rerouting; unexpected phone calls; loss of Android Auto functionality; freezing or failure to respond to the driver's actual input; system restarting or turning itself on; interference with other vehicle settings. The infotainment screen experiences “ghost touches” where random controls are pushed without a person actually touching it. It will switch views (maps to radio to settings), turn itself off and on, and becomes a major driver distraction and at times a safety hazard. Distraction? Quickly changing audio sources one after another. One second you hear map directions, then AM radio, Sirius XM, FM radio, etc…all changing rapidly. Safety hazard? Beyond the distraction, if one is using maps to navigate in the city, the system will leave maps to bounce to other views and sources leaving you with no directions or possibly delayed instructions. Honda has no fix. Dealer says if they can’t duplicate it they can’t do anything. This happens at very random times. A system reset can fix it temporarily, but it always comes back. A system reset requires you to stop, turn the vehicle off and know the exact convoluted procedure.

The car suddenly started to miss fire and lose power. This puts the driver and others in dangerous situations. If it happens when pulling out into traffic and the car misfired it could cause a serious crash. Honda service diagnosed that a blown head gasket causes coolant to leak into the cylinders, leading to engine misfires and a sudden loss of motive power at highway speeds. This issue is well documented on 2016 to 2022 honda Accords. There are many documented cases of this exact premature failure. Component Affected: Electrical System / Vehicle Speed Control / Forward Visibility / Navigation / Infotainment Description of Safety Hazard: I am experiencing a severe, highly unpredictable, and dangerous hardware defect involving the factory infotainment system on my 2022 Honda Accord Sport SE. The screen suffers from a hardware failure known as "ghost touching," where the digital interface registers rapid, erratic touch inputs completely on its own without being touched. This defect creates an immediate and severe driver distraction while the vehicle is in motion by automatically placing uncommanded phone calls to random contacts, changing settings, turning the radio on, and forcing sudden, loud audio spikes that startle the driver. Furthermore, these chaotic system glitches directly impact critical driving, navigation, and safety systems: GPS Navigation Failure: The ghost touches actively disrupt the GPS navigation system. The screen will randomly force the GPS map on when not in use, or it will glitch, freeze, and misroute while I am actively trying to navigate heavy traffic. This renders the primary navigation entirely useless, leaving me stranded and forcing my attention away from the road to attempt a manual override. Cruise Control Dropout & Auditory Panic Hazard: The system intermittently triggers a critical error on the dashboard that completely disables the vehicle’s Cruise Control / Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) systems at highway speeds. When this error flashes, the vehicle emits a loud, non-stop, continuous warning chime that refuses to turn off until the car's computer system randomly resets itself. This non-stop beeping creates an intense visual and auditory panic situation while driving at high speeds, completely shattering driver focus.

2022 Honda Accord Infotainment “Ghost Touch” Defect I am reporting a recurring safety defect involving the infotainment touchscreen in my 2022 Honda Accord. The touchscreen intermittently registers false inputs (“ghost touches”) without any user interaction. During operation, the screen randomly changes radio stations, switches applications, exits navigation, opens menus, changes settings, and becomes unresponsive. The issue occurs while driving and forces the driver to divert attention from the roadway in an effort to regain control of the system. This defect creates a significant distraction and increases the risk of a crash, particularly when navigation is being used in unfamiliar areas. In some instances, the screen becomes completely unusable for extended periods. My understanding is that many other 2021–2022 Honda Accord owners have reported identical symptoms, including screen replacements that failed to permanently resolve the problem. Numerous public complaints describe the same malfunction and indicate that the issue may be widespread. I believe this defect warrants investigation because it affects a driver interface that is relied upon during vehicle operation. Honda has not provided a permanent repair solution, and affected owners continue to experience recurring failures across multiple Honda models and trims. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate this defect and determine whether a recall or other corrective action is warranted. Vehicle: 2022 Honda Accord

I had brought my Honda Accord into Honda of Muskogee to have the touchscreen looked at for ghost touching while the car was still under warranty. On the very first visit, the morning I brought it in the temperature was low and it was nice outside and they could not reproduce the issue. They also did not complete the oil change properly on my car, nor rotated the tires, they also mangled the nuts that hold the positive battery post down. This was on a brand new car when it happened. Fast forward to 2026, my manufacturer's warranty is expired. I have contacted Honda Corporate probably 3 times to see if they would honor the warranty on my factory unmodified radio that came with the car. I advised them I wanted any other dealership that is certified to do the work, besides Muskogee. That location has a vendetta against me now because I am reporting them for stealing people's money and not doing the work their customers paid for. Their customers are ASKING for work that they pretend they have no idea about. PROBLEM: The digitizer is failing due to bad parts/delamination of some sort, it causes frequent ghost touching which can disrupt important safety information on the screen such as navigation data on a fast highway. It also ghost touches and turns off the HVAC system so the microphone can hear you, in the summertime this is incredibly dangerous as you cannot bypass it to ensure you stay cool in a heat wave if the radio keeps doing this. I am afraid this distraction is either going to cause myself, or anyone else with a 2022 Honda Accord that - for whatever reason they have NOT issued a manufacturers' recall for defective digitizers. The problem is a "known issue" according to the Honda dealership I bought it from and took in to look at for repair. Also I quick Google search of "2022 honda accord sport screen glitching" brings up tons of other people dealing with this same issue and there is apparently no fix for it. Honda said you can buy a new screen but it may still do it since there is no official fix for this. I am writing to file a complaint regarding a serious issue with my Honda vehicle involving the turbocharger system. The turbocharger appears to be failing, causing a significant reduction in vehicle speed and performance while driving. During operation, the vehicle suddenly loses power and acceleration, making it difficult and potentially unsafe to maintain normal traffic speeds. At the same time, multiple warning lights illuminate on the dashboard, indicating possible engine and system malfunctions. This issue creates a serious safety concern for both myself and other drivers, as the vehicle may unexpectedly slow down while traveling on highways or busy roadways. The condition has negatively impacted the reliability and dependability of my vehicle. I am requesting that Honda investigate this matter promptly and provide assistance in diagnosing and correcting the issue. If this problem is related to a known defect, recall, service bulletin, or warranty extension, I would appreciate being informed immediately.

The infotainment center in this 2022 Honda Accord has some sort of problem where the system constantly is changing itself from screen to screen and is constantly beeping. It is a significant distraction when driving and creates a hazardous situation. Although it is a known problem by Honda because they sent out an engineering request about this issue, they deny that there is any problem and they have no fix for this screen problem.

My radio is having ghost taps. It clicks random buttons the whole time the car is on. Goes from radio to CarPlay, turns off my maps, turns off the whole radio, just constantly is making its own clicks. This has been happening for about a year. I can not add videos but would be more than happy to email them.

The infotainment system is having ghost swipes and the touch screen at times is completely unresponsive. Looks like this is an ongoing issue among other Honda Accords from model year 2022. The issue is dangerous as it can cause the radio to switch screens rapidly due to the ghost touch, therefore, causing the driver to potentially try to return the screen to its original setting. This also causes issues with the hands free phone system which can also lead to driver safety issues.

My touchscreen is experiencing "ghost touch" per the dealership. They explained it as it refers to an issue where the infotainment screen registers random taps or clicks on its own. It is highly distracting as the screen beeps consistently and blinks randomly. I have 3 young drivers and see this as a big distraction. The dealership said Honda recommended not replacing it as they are fully aware of it and the fix doesn't fix it. It's definitely not a response you want to hear while you're still paying on the car and have young drivers. I fortunately have an extended warranty and they are willing to replace it but I'm concerned that the replacement will experience the same, that is why I am filing a complaint here. I called multiple Honda dealerships and they are aware of the problem but also said Honda is advising not to replace. I have seen many complaints where Honda owners had to pay for the replacement out of pocket and that's disappointing. It sure does seem like a manufacture error and hope Honda does the right thing. I have been a Honda owner for over 30 years but with my latest purchase and experience, I'm definitely rethinking my next purchase.

, I had MY Honda dealership replace my touchscreen and head unit due to issues with ghost touches and apps switching back and forth. Once I got my car back, which took two weeks, the problems seemed to be resolved. However, after a few weeks, the ghost touches started happening again, about once a week. I was planning to live with that, given the amount of time they had my car. Now, fast forward to the present time: the ghost touches are back, and the touchscreen refuses to function 95% of the time. I had contacted my service advisor at the dealership on 5/28/26 and replied that she would get with the Service manager and shop foreman. This is ashame that a company like Honda could not stand by their product better to fix this issue that has been known since 2024.

I am submitting this complaint regarding an apparent head gasket failure involving my 2022 Honda Accord Sport 1.5T equipped with Honda's 1.5-liter turbocharged engine. At approximately 143,000 miles, I began experiencing coolant loss without any visible external leak. I also noticed rough operation and shaking during startup. Concerned about the symptoms, I consulted a Honda specialist who advised that the vehicle is exhibiting signs consistent with a failing head gasket and will likely require head gasket replacement. This vehicle has been meticulously maintained and serviced throughout ownership. I retain maintenance records and have taken exceptional care of the vehicle. There has been no abuse, neglect, overheating event, or failure to maintain the vehicle. Through my research, I have found numerous reports from owners of Honda vehicles equipped with the 1.5-liter turbocharged engine describing similar symptoms, including coolant loss, startup misfires, rough cold starts, coolant intrusion into cylinders, and premature head gasket failures. The consistency of these reports suggests a possible design or manufacturing defect affecting the durability of the engine. A failing head gasket can lead to loss of engine power, engine damage, misfires, overheating, and potentially unsafe driving conditions. Given the volume of owner complaints involving Honda's 1.5-liter turbocharged engines, I request that NHTSA investigate whether a safety-related defect exists and whether corrective action, including a recall or service campaign, is warranted.

When I would go to accelerate onto the the interstate and would hit around 67-69 MPH my car would go lazy and the engine light would come on. This happened about 3 times and then 4th time every single check engine light came on. I took it to the mechanic and he replaced the battery, but said there might still be a fuel issue. I then took it to the dealership and they said I had “bad gas” and wanted to replace the spark plugs, remove the fuel, and do a fuel treatment for 1200 dollars. I was confused on how this could happen and the dealership stated that it only takes one time, so how can I prevent it? They didn’t say and so if I spend the 1200 due to “bad gas” and get “bad gas” again I owe another 1200?

While driving my vehicle suddenly would not accelerate above 20 mph and warning lights all over the dash lit up (check engine, abs brake system, adaptive cruise control, vehicle stability, power steering, hill assist, and brake hold). I took it for a diagnostic, it gave a code for cylinder 3 misfire. I got a tune up the next day along with a fuel system cleaning just to be safe. After about 35 miles of driving I had the same issue 2 days after the tune up, this time no warning lights. I took it back to the shop and this time the spark plug in cylinder 4 was bad. I believe I am at the beginning of what many others have complained about with these same symptoms. This problem makes operation of my vehicle unsafe and uncertain, at any time this issue can kick in and now you are limping along at 20 mph while cars zoom all around you. While trying to get the vehicle to the shop I created traffic buildups and was almost hit multiple times due to the vehicles diminished acceleration.

The touchscreen/head unit on my 2022 Honda Accord Sport SE (VIN: [XXX] ) consistently exhibits ghost touch behavior — the screen makes random phantom inputs while I am driving, without any physical contact. This causes the navigation to be rerouted or cancelled mid-drive, audio to change sources and volume unexpectedly, menus to open randomly, and CarPlay to become completely non-functional. This occurs every time I drive the vehicle and constitutes a significant safety distraction. I rely on GPS navigation for every drive. This vehicle is experiencing an aggressive, heat-accelerated hardware degradation of the central capacitive screen assembly commonly identified as ghost glitching, culminating in a total crash of the primary graphic interface and touch controller hardware. While your customer service infrastructure routinely classifies display anomalies as low-priority convenience or entertainment glitches, an objective systems analysis reveals that Honda has centralized critical safety telemetry, emergency communications, and vehicle calibration gateways into a single, unbacked hardware node. Consequently, the catastrophic failure of this infotainment module directly compromises the operational safety of this vehicle, presenting an immediate, unpredictable hazard not only to myself but to the general driving public sharing the roadway. The systematic failure modes of this defect are detailed as follows: 1 Multi-Module Network Failure and Primary Gauge Cluster Blindness The failure of the central display audio unit is not isolated to an entertainment screen. It acts as a network parasite that actively destabilizes the vehicle's primary Driver Information Interface DII on the steering wheel instrument cluster. Toggling the steering wheel controls to view Audio or System telemetry on the primary driver's dash gauge results in an immediate, total blackout of the left digital dashboard display. Because the central infotainment unit's microprocessor is frozen, degraded, or locked up, it fails to respond to high-priority internal Controller Area Network CAN bus data requests from the instrument cluster. This creates a severe data bottleneck that blinds the operator to system telemetry directly behind the steering wheel while traveling at highway speeds. Furthermore, while the vehicle's secondary hardwired communication circuit allows background audio streaming and steering wheel track-skipping overrides to function, the manual physical volume controls, dashboard knob,

You never know when it will happen so when it does, it immediately removes your eyes off the road where it should be while driving to try and attempt to get it to stop because the switching is loud and distracting especially with the volume adjustments. I purchased the vehicle new, the first owner and not even a three months later the nightmare began. I have taken it to the Honda dealership serval times when it is happening and the course of action is a screen reset and the issue still persist. There were no warnings or lights that came on prior to it to happening, it just began and has never stopped. The buttons still work on the blacked out screen but nothing will pop back up. I had my dealership take a look and this is an ongoing issue with Honda. I’ve seen car forums talk about the same thing for years and nothing is being resolved permanently. This can be a distraction safety hazard. My other issue is the lane keep assist. It doesn’t detect lanes very well, especially if it’s faded or has sealed cracks. I could be driving the freeway speed limit and then the car suddenly brakes hard. Hello, I am having issues with the infotainment system on my accord. It is suffering from the ghost touch issue. When this happens the car constantly makes an alert beep and then randomly starts going through the menus on the system. Here are a few of the issues that can result. Navigation changes or setting change, radio can change or even turn on or off or change inputs, the cars setting can change, it can start calls to any of your contacts including emergency #s. The only way to stop this from happening is to turn off the screen. However if the radio is on, you can not turn it off. This results in the driver constantly having to divert their attention to the radio /infotainment system from the road. It is extremely distracting and very unsafe. This is a known issue and there is no active recall. As far as I can tell this has not been fixed in replacements, simply a new version of the same radio is put into the car. I would expect that this has or will create accidents if is nor recalled. As these cars age, this will get worse for all of them. I did reach out to honda and they informed me there is no recall. Please help keep people on the road safe!

11686537 prior complaint #. I want to add to my prior complaint. I have has this car going on almost a year. During the winter months there was no issues with the informatic system. Once we experienced our first 80 degree day it immediately started again. This is becoming unsafe as it causes anyone driving the car to become distracted due to the constant switching of screens. If you try and use the GPS that becomes impossible because it switches on its own causing the driver to have to take their eyes off the road. This is also resetting your setting. I had my car set to autolock and at some point it reset that and then my car was broken into and stuff was stolen from inside. The informatic system is completely unusable when this happens and is pretty much every time you use the car when the weather is over a certain temperature. I have heard some people doing things to maybe help to prevent this but I have paid for a vehicle with a long standing history of safety and quality. So I do not believe I need to alter my vehicle in any way to prevent standard equipment from operating properly.

Cracked cylinder head coolant leak from bad head gasket known issues through multiple owners

ODI #11713017ENGINE

The engine cylinder head developed a crack causing coolant leak, causing the coolant system to lose fluid. The leak originated from a hairline crack in the cylinder head, which has been confirmed by an independent, certified mechanic. The vehicle remained drivable initially, but a loss of coolant could lead to engine overheating, and catch on fire or smoke creating a potential safety hazard for the driver and others on the road. The vehicle was inspected at an authorized dealership at the direction of the manufacturer, which performed a teardown to diagnose the issue. After this inspection, additional engine components (timing chain and head gasket) were identified as damaged, though these failures were not present prior to the teardown. Other users facing similar leak issues were treated the same by dealership blaming other component issue and disregarding the visible crack. This defect appears to affect multiple vehicles of the same engine, as reported by other owners nationwide. Warning signs included coolant loss, which could escalate into a larger safety risk if not addressed. I have attached few user complains but if needed I can provide lot more user complaints around the nation as it is never ending.

The infotainment screen glitches all the time while driving and while stopped. Examples of this include the screen zooming out of your navigation then no longer responding to your touches, leading you to take your eyes off the road and get distracted. The screen also makes random phone calls and hangs up calls. The screen will quickly change to another app or screen creating quick flashes and distractions especially driving at night. Also, while in reverse the different camera views are unavailable because the screen won’t respond to your touches. This is a huge distraction while driving and makes for an unsafe driving experience. The dealer said years ago that they could replace the screen but the parts are on back order and it’s been months of no response from them every time we ask about a replacement unit. Others have also reported replacing the screen doesn’t solve the issue as it just keeps happening again. Honda should recall all these defective units.

I purchased a 2022 Honda Accord Sport 2.0 in 2023 with less than 100 miles at the time of purchase. To this day it has 15,005 miles, I comply with recommended maintenence, however the car has been trying to kill me. I purchased Honda Care along with numerous other extended warranties. Mind you I paid for the ENTIRE car in cash. While driving, the car randomly slams on the breaks when no one is on the street and it also does in the middle of traffic. There have been several instances in which I have almost been rear ended because the vehicle slams on its breaks without notice. This happens even when the break assist is turned off. I turn it off everytime I start the car but it turns itself back on while the car is motion. One morning on my way to work there were no cars (5am), there was nothing in the road and the RED BRAKE DASH LIGHT Flashed then the car slammed on the brakes. I was traveling about 45-50 mph and the car abruptly stopped. I sustained multiple bruises from the seat belt shoulder strap and lap belt. I have previous chronic back issues that were aggrevated by this incident. I am still under a physicians care for my back issues (unrelated) but I do believe this occurrence aggrevated these issues even more. I did not want to make a huge deal out of this however the vehicle continues to slam on the brakes without notice and I am fearful that I will injure myself, my grandson, or someone else as a result of a defective vehicle. I took my car to Honda today 1/14/2026 and they were absolutely no help. There was no consistency when I was told how they could diagnose the problem & no time frame was given. There is nothing I could have done in order to make your automatic breaking system fail when Honda is the only one that does work on my car. I requested to speak to the GM Curtis Hensley and that request was ultimately denied. Honda care said the dealership could loan me a vehicle and the dealership said I had to rent it plus pay $180 diagnostic fee.

I noticed random misfires months ago. I've replace my spark plug three times in 6 months. My coils are good, etc. It started getting worse about a month ago. It goes into limp mode and suddenly slows to 20 mph. Some days it won't start. The dash lights flash and the cars computer goes crazy it won't go over 20 mph. This is a widespread issue causing ppl to spend thousands and no fix in sight. Usually it hits between 15-90k miles. Twice I was on the interstate and it just slowed to 20 mph. I have had it at the dealer twice. They are clueless and can't do much without Honda stepping up. Honda needs to address this. My car was built in 2021 and somehow missed a major recall. It's putting stress on my catalytic converter and other parts that cost thousands to fix. I'm taking it in on Monday for the third time. If they can pinpoint it this time I'm afraid it might cost me thousands. It's a Honda and it shouldn't be having issues from 15k to 90k.

am reporting a problem with the Forward Collision Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking system. The vehicle has repeatedly given collision warnings and applied braking when there was no vehicle, person, or obstacle in front of me. I purchased the vehicle used in July 2023 with approximately 30,000 miles. It now has approximately 108,000 miles. Over the time I have owned the vehicle, this issue has occurred about ten times while I was driving. Four of these incidents happened recently with a passenger in the vehicle, which confirmed the issue was not driver error. In several instances, the system gave rapid warning beeps and then applied braking even though the road ahead was clear. One time this occurred at highway speed with no traffic in front of me. Another time it occurred on a lightly traveled local road with no visible hazard. The braking was sudden and unexpected. On one occasion, a leaf may have passed in front of the sensor, but the majority of incidents occurred with no visible trigger. There were no warning lights or messages before the events, only the collision alert immediately followed by braking. This behavior creates a safety risk because the vehicle can brake unexpectedly without an actual obstruction, which could lead to a rear end collision or loss of control. The problem has not yet been inspected by a dealer or manufacturer.

The fuel system on my 2022 Honda Accord malfunctioned and caused a sudden loss of power while my teenage son was driving. On 12/03/2025 at approximately 4:50 PM, the vehicle went into reduced-power (limp) mode while traveling in heavy highway traffic on a busy highway in a metro-area of >450,000 people. There was no shoulder available in which he could navigate onto. He was unable to accelerate and had to coast approximately one mile at low speed while many, many cars were driving around him during rush hour traffic , which created a dangerous situation with vehicles traveling at normal highway speeds. A Honda dealership has previously inspected and confirmed the problem. On 07/28/2025, the service center documented lean fuel condition, misfire codes (P0301, P0304), failed fuel-rail pressure, and injector-related faults. They recommended replacement of fuel-system components. The printed report and repair estimate are available for inspection upon request. Prior to the safety incident, the vehicle intermittently displayed symptoms such as hesitation during acceleration and irregular engine operation, but no permanent warning light stayed on. The failure has progressed over time and the same loss-of-power condition can recur at any time. This poses a risk because loss of propulsion in moving traffic can lead to a collision. The component issue has been confirmed by the Honda dealer, and documentation is attached. I am filing this report because the failure creates a safety hazard, has been reproduced by a local dealership, and has not been resolved. The repair show suggested I return to Honda for repair. Furthermore, during my research of this problem, I discovered tens of thousands of complaints from others experiencing this exact issue, including new low mileage vehicles. These complaints are available on all social media platforms and search engines, with each complaint indicating problems with the fuel injectors on engines using direct fuel injection.

The problem is with the Infotainment system. It was replaced once under warranty but is again malfunctioning. The infotainment system controls some critical features of the vehicle. One instance is when trying to calibrate tpms after a low condition, it is impossible to get control of the display as it makes "Ghost" selections or is hung up. Resets both hard and soft do not work. Removing the negative battery cable doesn't work. Note that research shows many Accords and other models are effected. It also seems the manufacturer is aware of the situation and doing nothing to correct it. This is a safety issue. If it were just the radio effected, I really would care. But because the cars systems rely on the infotainment systems, its a concern. Symptoms are : Freezing & Crashing: The screen becomes unresponsive or shuts down unexpectedly. Phantom Touches: The screen registers touches that aren't happening, selecting things randomly on its own. Audio/Radio Malfunctions: Stations changing or Bluetooth disconnecting. System Restarts: The unit turns off and on by itself, even after the car is off.

My infotainment screen randomly registers phantom/ghost touches while I’m driving. It changes audio sources, turns the volume up, switches screens, opens apps, places phone calls on its own (including to coworkers), and becomes completely unresponsive to my actual touch inputs. It will also jump between menus and navigation screens without me touching anything. This takes my eyes off the road and has nearly caused multiple accidents. The dealership has already replaced the entire touchscreen unit, but the problem continues exactly the same. They told me Honda uses a third-party manufacturer for these units and that there is no known fix. Honda Care also has no resolution and sent me back to the dealership, creating a loop with no actual repair path. Both Honda and the dealer acknowledge this is a known issue affecting many Honda Accord owners, but no permanent fix exists. infotainment system is susceptible to intermittent ghost touches. This occurs when using any functionality of the screen of the infotainment system including navigation, music playing, apple car play, and hands free cell phone calls. The screen will open up new menus on its own, end a navigation route, place cell phone calls on hold, and not respond to touches from the driver. This creates a highly dangerous situaiton while driving as the driver must take their eyes off the road to attempt to remedy constant errors and glitches with the infotainment system. Particularly troublesome are instances occurring when using navigation as the driver will need to re-input a destination that was canceled or having a phone call placed on hold mid-conversation. Navigation systems are sometimes necessary to operate the vehicle. Phone calls are no longer hands free if the driver has to look down at their phone to try and disconnect it from the infotainment system to resume the call. This requires taking your eyes off the road for an extended period of time, potentially while traveling at highway speeds. Vehicle was returned to manufacture via dealership several times to address the issue. The Dealer confirmed a defective infotainment system in October 2024 and replaced it under warranty. Due to the part being on back-order it was not replaced until March 2025. The issue continues with the newly replaced screen. The vehicle has been returned several times to the dealer since replacing the screen. Dealer claims they cannot duplicate the issue and do not know what is causing it. Opened Case #: 15316225 with American Honda Motor Co. which went unresolved after several visits to the dealer.

Infotainment screen turning on/off randomly, restarting unexpectedly, and autonomously switching between radio stations (e.g., AM to FM), audio sources (e.g., Bluetooth), maps, or other apps—are a well-documented problem for the 2022 Honda Accord (and similar 10th-gen models). This is often linked to faulty touchscreens, software glitches, or hardware defects. I have had the infotainment system replace less than a year ago, the problem has returned. This become a safety issue because some of the cars "Systems" are run from the infotainment center. I am writing to formally express my concern regarding a persistent and potentially dangerous issue with the infotainment system in my 2022 Honda Accord. After 2.5 years of ownership, the system has begun malfunctioning on a daily basis while using Apple CarPlay. The issue presents as follows: the screen rapidly and uncontrollably cycles through applications, exits navigation, changes windows within the navigation app, and intermittently turns the radio on and off without any input. When this occurs, the screen freezes and becomes completely unresponsive. I am often forced to press the screen repeatedly for several minutes in an attempt to regain control—all while driving. This behavior significantly distracts from the task of operating the vehicle safely, particularly when relying on navigation in unfamiliar areas. It is not only frustrating, but poses a clear and unacceptable safety risk. Furthermore, this is not an isolated incident. Numerous owners have reported similar experiences in online forums, specifically related to the 2022 Accord model. Despite the prevalence of these complaints, the issue has not been formally inspected by Honda or confirmed by a dealership in my case. However, I do have video documentation of the malfunction and would be happy to provide it upon request. I urge Honda to take this matter seriously. A vehicle’s central screen seizing control during operation transforms a basic function—navigation—into a dangerous distraction. This is a significant safety issue that requires immediate investigation and resolution.

I am submitting this complaint to formally report a recurring safety issue with the infotainment system in my 2022 Honda Accord. The system is experiencing what is commonly referred to as "ghost touching"—where the screen registers false inputs and changes functions on its own without any user interaction. This issue causes the display to randomly switch between menus, adjust settings, and even interrupt or cancel navigation while the vehicle is in motion. At times, the screen rapidly flashes through various menus or changes audio sources, which is not only distracting but dangerously diverts the driver’s attention from the road. It has even placed random calls to people as my phone's contacts are synced. This is a known issue among owners of similar Honda vehicles, and I personally had the infotainment unit replaced under warranty last year for the exact same problem. However, the issue has returned, and despite it being a documented, recurring defect, Honda is now refusing to cover the cost of repair, citing that my vehicle is no longer under warranty. I am deeply concerned that this malfunction poses a serious safety risk to drivers, passengers, and others on the road. It forces drivers to interact with the system to regain control or restore lost navigation/audio functions—often while driving—thereby increasing the likelihood of distracted driving incidents. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate this issue further and consider whether a recall or formal action is warranted to ensure that affected vehicles are repaired at no cost to owners and without further compromise to safety. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Have had numerous occurrences of the Infotainment System having a mind of its own during the past several months. This issue has been commonly intermittent. Driving conditions, temperature, road conditions, time of day, or anything else have had an effect on when it happens or duration that it happens. I have taken my vehicle in to the Honda dealership to have it diagnosed. The dealership diagnosed the issue as "Ghost Touch" and their recommendation was to replace the Infotainment System screen. It was days after the replacement that the "Ghost Touch" happened again with the new system installed. Most recently I had the vehicle in to the dealership for the "Ghost Touch" issue. After hours of troubleshooting the dealership used their Tech Line to find more information about the "Ghost Touch" issue from Honda. The response was as follows: "Tech Line has been made aware of a false (Ghost/Phantom) touch with the display panel. This issue is under review by the vendor. As all parts in stock are affected, replacement of the display panel for this issue is not recommended at this time." As the Infotainment System becomes self aware and makes involuntary changes to maps, directories, and phone usage completely on its own and at random, it becomes a distraction to operating the vehicle in a safe manner. I called Honda Corporation to see if there was something that could be done and I was told to make sure that I went through the dealership and that they were aware of the issue. As this has become commonplace for the 2021 and 2022 Honda Accord models, that Honda has known about the issue for several years, and that there are apparently hundreds of owners of this vehicle that are having the same issue, that Honda would issue a recall or have a repair by this time. According to, and as of this date, the dealership is not aware of any recalls or repairs to this system by the manufacturer.

Safety concerns: the malfunction is distracting and forces me to use my phone for navigation when the screen freezes and I can’t access maps through the car reliably when needed. My state has a hands-free law prohibiting touching/holding a phone while driving, so this defect creates both a crash risk due to distractions caused by the radio malfunctioning and a risk of citations for something outside my control. I contacted my local Honda service department on August 5, 2025. They stated they’ve performed software updates and even radio replacements for other owners with the same issue, but customers return with the problem, and they are not offering an effective repair at this time. I also filed a complaint with Honda today, August 14, 2025. I personally know another Accord owner with identical symptoms, and I’ve found numerous similar reports online dating back to at least one year ago. No crash, fire, or injuries to date, but the issue occurs almost every time I drive.

The touchscreen will glitch nonstop and random buttons are selected. The screen will freeze so when it calls random people, cancels my directions and other inconvenient things. I have to take my eyes off the road to address it. It’s extremely dangerous as it occurs so often now. I purchased the Accord new and bought an extended warranty from Honda (Honda Care). My car started having intermittent glitches with the infotainment system about 8 or 9 months ago. The system experiences ghost touches, freezes up, disconnects from my phone, randomly makes calls, hangs up on calls I actually make, will not turn off. Basically, this thing controls the car's brain. I have taken the car to 2 different dealerships and gotten the same response: there is no known fix at this time. Keep in mind, Honda has know about this problem since 2019. I contacted Honda Corporation. I have spoken to them several times. The second to last time I spoke with them (7/31/25), I requested Honda buy the car back. Today Honda called and told me that my car does not qualify for repurchase because I haven't had an inordinate amount of issues with the car. They further said, as we as we have a fix they will contact me and there was nothing else they could do. Remember, they have know about this issue for better than 6 years and, according to information I gathered from the internet, it has been prevalent issue with many people. Not only is this issue a nuisance, it is a safety issue as well.

The screen is not working. In the middle of driving, the screen keeps changing and appears that someone is touching it, but no one is. It starts beeping, the audio switches, the GPS goes off, and will not change even when you try clicking the buttons. It is extremely distracting while driving, navigation does not respond, and interferes with the ability to focus on driving. The problem has been reproduced by the dealer, has happened to numerous other customers, and the dealers have done nothing to fix it. It has been inspected by the Honda dealership multiple times. No warning prior to failure. According to research, this has been an ongoing problem for various other people, yet there is still not a fix available for this safety issue. This is unacceptable.

The faulty touch screen infotainment system creates an environment that is not conducive to safe driving. This specific issue is referred to as the "ghost touch" across the industry which involves the system randomly rapidly pressing buttons autonomously and producing an audible beep with every press of the button. Not only is every random beep a distraction but this issue causes drivers to attempt to regain control of the infotainment system while driving due to the fact that most drivers now rely on these systems for navigation and to abide by hands-free traffic laws. You may ask "Why don't you simply turn the infotainment system off?". Well I tried and the system turns itself back on. This creates a scenario that is equivalent to the dangers presented by texting and driving. A simple google search of 'Honda Accord Ghost Touch' will yield a myriad of results with consumers experiencing this issue and sharing the same concerns. I have audio-video recording of this issue and have spoken to the service advisor at Pearson Honda located in Mildothian, VA and they are requesting that customers pay $180 for a diagnosis of this well known issue but they do not know the exact cause or solution. Customers have had their systems reset and even had the screen replaced and the issue still occurs. This issue has been present in my vehicle for at least 3 months but has progressively gotten worse overtime to the point that driving the vehicle is intolerable as it distracts me while I'm driving and causes a great amount of frustration which also effects my driving behavior.

I am writing to formally report a serious issue with the infotainment system in my 2022 Honda Accord. The touchscreen consistently exhibits “phantom touch” behavior — screens change on their own, controls do not respond properly, and essential features like navigation and audio become difficult or impossible to use. This issue has persisted since at least July 2025 and creates a significant distraction while driving, compromising safety. I have not yet taken the vehicle to a Honda dealership because I was informed there would be a $190 diagnostic fee just to assess the issue. Before proceeding, I conducted extensive research and discovered that this is a well-documented and widespread defect affecting many 2021–2022 Honda Accord models. Numerous owners have reported identical issues online and through NHTSA complaints. From what I’ve found, even when the screen is replaced, the problem often recurs — and Honda has reportedly advised some customers that no effective fix is available at this time. As a customer, I find this deeply concerning. This is clearly a known issue, yet no formal recall or technical service bulletin appears to have been issued. More importantly, it directly affects driver safety — particularly when it impairs the ability to use built-in navigation, manage phone calls, or adjust vehicle settings without distraction

ODI #11675122ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

My 2022 Honda Accord has a serious infotainment system malfunction, which has persisted since at least September 2023. The touch screen exhibits "phantom touch" issues — screens change erratically, and touch controls do not respond properly. This makes in-car navigation unreliable and forces me to use my phone for directions, which is unsafe and distracting. The dealership and Honda have acknowledged the problem and indicated it is a known defect affecting 2021–2022 Accord models. However, after nearly two years, no remedy or replacement has been provided, and all parts available are apparently affected. Honda has advised against replacing the display panels at this time. I believe this issue constitutes a safety concern due to the distraction and lack of dependable navigation, and I am requesting that the NHTSA investigate and prompt Honda to provide an effective fix.

While driving, the vehicle radio jumps screens without any user input. When you try to interact with it, it freezes and locks up for a period of time, and then catches up. It is especially worse if a phone is plugged into, leading to distracted driving and a potential safety hazard. According to the dealer it’s a known problem, but Honda has no fix.

Component: Infotainment system / touchscreen panel (Display Audio Unit) Description of Issue and Safety Concern: The infotainment touchscreen panel on my 2022 Honda Accord malfunctions intermittently and unpredictably. It rapidly and repeatedly switches between modes (e.g., FM, AM, Bluetooth, phone) in a spastic pattern, similar to Morse code. This behavior often renders the touchscreen non-responsive. Even when powered off manually, it will turn itself back on and continue cycling through modes uncontrollably. This poses a safety risk by: •Creating driver distraction due to constant flashing, sound changes, and alerts. •Interrupting navigation, Bluetooth phone calls, and backup camera use. •Making it difficult to adjust settings or audio without taking eyes off the road. •Forcing the driver to troubleshoot or disable the screen while driving. The issue has been confirmed and documented by an authorized Honda dealership, and the vehicle is still under warranty. However, the part needed for repair has been unavailable, on backorder, since 9/2024. Despite multiple attempts, the manufacturer has not resolved the issue. No warning lamps or diagnostic codes are present, but the defect remains ongoing and persistent. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. ________________________________________

I purchased my 2022 Honda Accord Sport 1.5 T in December 2021. Around 20k miles, I began experiencing issues with the steering. There was a sticky sensation that required exerting force. I took into the dealership on numerous occasions only to be told "there was nothing wrong" or that "the issue could not be duplicated". It eventually began to get worse around 52k miles, so around October of 2023, I began going back to the dealership, only for the same answers of "can not be duplicated". At 60k miles, the unfindable issue become discoverable (Not sure if they were being honest or they were waiting until my warranty expired to properly diagnose the issue). The service advisor informed me that I would need a steering rack replacement. I asked would Honda assist with the repair as I had began complaining about the issue well before my warranty expired. The advisor informed me that Honda would not assist. Fast forward, a week later, I reached out to Honda myself and they gave me a green light for assistance with the repair. They agreed to cover $2200 for the part itself and I was responsible for the labor, which left me with a balance of $1400. In December of 2023, I had the repair done and the vehicle was driving a little better at first, but still a little off. Of course the service department ensured that nothing was wrong and they could not do anything unless something breaks or the computer throws a code. Fast forward to around June of 2024, I began having the same issues with the steering wheel sticking, but was out of warranty as the dealership stated that the warranty was a 2 year/12k mile warranty. This is ridiculous to pay all this money for vehicles, have it repaired and have to deal with the same issue again. Honda is well aware of this issue, but instead of doing the right and ethical thing and issuing a recall on the steering racks, they'd rather sit and act clueless and oblivious to the issue.

Re: Distracted Driving Awareness Month To whom it may concern: A little over a year ago, my 17-year-old car “gave up the ghost” and I bought a new Honda Accord. With this new car came a host of new-to-me technology. One item, that screen in the middle of my dashboard, is a contributing factor to the Distracted Driving Problem. Push buttons on radios were a great safety feature when first introduced. They allow drivers to change stations while driving without fiddling with the dial. Now, however, a driver takes their eyes off the road to look at the screen and select a channel or band or podcast, etc. Driving my old car, when I needed directions, I’d ask Siri to give me directions to a particular place, and she would talk me through it, giving me plenty of notice regarding when to turn, which exit to use, etc. All the while I kept my eyes on the road. Regretfully now, Siri also shows me a map on the screen indicating when to turn. Yes, she still talks to me, but there is this great temptation to take my eyes off the road and see where I’m going. During this Distracted Driving Awareness Month, I encourage you to reflect on the unnecessary road hazard that exist in the middle of the dashboard and eliminate those screens in future cars. We drove very well without them for over a century. And we don’t need another reason to take our eyes off the road.

On multiple occasions, my 2022 Honda Accord has used the automatic braking system against my better judgement and almost caused traffic collisions. - It has braked when I was simply turning around in a parking lot, nearly causing a vehicle to hit me. - It brakes when I'm trying to park my vehicle in a narrow garage space, despite not being in danger of hitting anything. - It has braked at traffic intersections when it sees cars turning in front of me, almost causing vehicles behind to collide with the back of my car. I filed a complaint with Honda, but they were unhelpful. Since it's impossible to permamently disable this safety feature, their only resolution was for me to remember to temporarily disable it every time I use the vehicle. It appears that this technology is flawed and prone to malfunctioning and Honda implemented it in their vehicles to track the data by using involuntary test subjects. In my view, this warrants a federal investigation and lawsuit. Thank you.

The vehicle will sometimes brake even though no obstacle is present. This has occurred at highway speeds. The sudden brake event is jarring, and could cause me to be involved in a collision. The vehicle is relatively new, and covered by a factory warranty. I described the problem to the dealer's service department. The service department representative said he would not be able to repair the problem unless he could replicate it. The problem is intermittent, and is unlikely to be replicated. This means that the problem will likely remain unrepaired and dangerous.

There have been no other inspections of the cars braking system as far as I know. The problem was reported to my insurance company, Geico. The problem was reported to the police officer responding to the scene of the accident and the collision/towing company.

This occurred twice both happened on the highway going 65 mph. I accelerated as usual, suddenly the check engine light began blinking and I lost the ability to accelerate (limp mode). The car instantly dropped to 20 mph. After a minute, the check engine blinking light went away. Both times I was luckily able to get off of the highway going 20 mph. The first occurrence, I turned the car off for 30 minutes. After turning back on, car was fine as if nothing happened. The second occurrence, after calling Honda they recommended towing to dealership, which I did. At my dealership, they drove a lot, but could not duplicate issue. However, there was code DTC P0304 misfire. From the dealer paperwork "cylinder 4 swap spark plugs to known working plug misfire gone recommend replacing all plug random misfire. This is a VERY serious issue that could result in injury or death if it occurs to others!

We reached ~95mph, I was slightly applying brake pressure and this slowed down the rate of acceleration but did not stop it. I tried shifting to neutral but the car didn't respond. ODI #11520299VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

The Collision Mitigation Braking System is overly sensitive, aggressive, unpredictable and sometimes erratic causing extremely dangerous situations including almost causing traffic accidents due to unwarranted locking up of brakes sometimes on the freeway at very dangerous highway speeds. I've had about 5 scenarios where the system has terrified me by applying heavy stopping power in a dangerous and unexpected manner in situations where I would never apply the brakes! One of the occasions was on a 35mph roadway that had a small dip hardly anything, with no cars, pedestrians in front of me SLAMMED the brakes aggressively for 0 reason and with nothing in front of the car but a slight dip in the road. Another occasion was on a freeway at freeway speeds where the car dangerously slammed on the brakes causing unexpected and abrupt loss of speed which WOULD HAVE resulted in a car behind me rear-ending my vehicle, in this case luckily no vehicle was directly behind me in this instance, but in the future this can cause an accident and put myself and others at risk. This vehicle is brand new, less than 3,000 miles. I've contacted Honda Corporate who directed me to a Honda Dealer which they seemed to advise I will be out of pocket for a diagnosis fee for, on a car that randomly and unexpectedly SLAMS ON BRAKES. This is unacceptable, the system automatically turns back on as soon as the vehicle starts up, there's no way to permanently deactivate this dangerous feature. This needs to be resolved immediately!!!

The carplay keeps freezing, which causes a safety issue when attempting to fix the problem. For instance, the carplay froze while traveling long distances. I did not notice it stopped working and kept driving, assuming the exit was further away. Once I briefly looked again at the highway, I realized it was frozen, and I had to go to the shoulder of the road to restart the car play. I leased the car on 1/7/2023, and my carplay has frozen over seven times in 3 months. It causes a safety issue because I have to go on the shoulder of the highway, which leads to a random place (once in a hazardous area), and causes me to keep restarting the system and car.

I purchased a new 2022 Honda Accord EX-L back in March. Twice I've had something happen while driving. Yesterday it was snowing quite hard and getting slick. So on the way home I was merging onto the freeway and gradually speeding up. Suddenly the car braked hard for about a second as if I was coming up on someone too fast. There was no one in front of me, and fortunately the person behind me wasn't close enough that I got rear ended. Obviously the radar sensor thought I was about to hit a car immediately in front of me--a car that wasn't there. I've been in touch with the dealer where I purchased the car. I see that there was a recall on the 2018-2019 Accords for this very thing. I seem to remember that the other time it happened it may have been raining, but I can't remember for sure. In that case the car didn't brake as hard as this time. This time it actually threw me forward, and fortunately my tires managed to grip the snowy pavement.

The amber reliability line is declining — recent years score around 76/100, lower than earlier in the vehicle's life. This pattern indicates issues are accumulating over time rather than being resolved, which is a concern for used buyers.

The red dashed line marks recall issuance — the first recall came 3 years after owners began filing complaints, a lag that indicates the manufacturer was slow to formally acknowledge these problems.

Red dots on the amber line flag 2 years (2023, 2026) where complaints included crash events — these are the highest-severity incidents in the dataset.
