ODI #11731544ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING

The contact owns a 2022 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving at speeds above 50 MPH, the vehicle hesitated and lost automotive power. The check engine warning light was flashing. After restarting the vehicle, the failure was self-corrected. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that there was engine coolant inside the cylinders. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 288,000.

I purchased a 2022 Honda Accord Hybrid two years ago. On multiple occasions, I have been traveling at high speeds 70-75 MPH when the orange BRAKE signal appears across the screen, and the car abruptly slams on the brake with no other vehicles around me. It forcefully threw me forward. We have had Honda vehicle in for service many times, the dealership are never able to duplicate the problem because it happens sporadically. It is extremely dangerous, and I don't ever feel safe in the vehicle, and I don't feel comfortable using the adaptive cruise control. In the past we have always owned Honda's and never ever felt unsafe. This is a serious problem that needs to be addressed quickly.

On second week of February, 2026, I was driving my 2022 Honda Accord Hybrid from Elkridge, Maryland to North Beach, the car lost power with a flickering Check Engine Light on. I managed to drive between 25-30 MPH on 55 MPH Highway to my local Honda dealership. The diagnosed the lost power to HEAD GASKET failure. I did some research and found that NHTSA has issued a part collection on Head Gasket Failure on 2018-2022 Honda Accord Hybrid. The NHTSA ID: MC-11009200. I paid over $5,000 to replace the Head Gasket. I think these model years should be recalled.

I am deeply concerned about my safety and the safety of other drivers due to a serious and worsening infotainment system malfunction in my 2022 Honda Accord Hybrid. The system malfunctions spontaneously and repeatedly while I am driving, causing significant distraction and creating a serious risk of accident. Symptoms include the system switching between apps on its own, the radio turning on and off without any input, and the screen responding as if phantom touches are occurring. I cannot predict when this will happen and have been constantly distracted while driving. The problem first appeared approximately one year ago and has become significantly worse in recent weeks, occurring more frequently and more severely. The escalating nature of this defect is alarming and I believe it poses an imminent danger to myself, my passengers, and other drivers. This is a known defect. Honda has issued Technical Service Bulletins on this infotainment system and faced class action litigation covering 2020–2022 Honda models with this same system. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this defect and consider a mandatory recall so that Honda is required to repair this at no cost to affected owners.

Our car, only 3 years old (2022) had a check engine light come on about a week ago. We went and had the code read, said cylinder 3 was misfiring. We replaced all the spark plugs and coils. All the lights went off and the car drove fine for another week. Then all of a sudden after driving 60+ miles, we were accelerating up a hill in very heavy traffic, and the car wouldn't accelerate. It wouldn't go more than 20-25 in a 45 as we were pulling out and we were almost hit because we couldn't go. The engine got a tad above the middle of the oil heat gauge. We had it towed. The dealership stated that it had a head gasket issue, with other issues, and that the engine block might be cracked. Currently are trying to charge us almost 7k to fix it.

The contact owns a 2022 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal. Multiple warning lights illuminated intermittently: TPMS, ABS, Traction, brake system, power steering, Uphill, and Cruise Control. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) unexpectedly triggered, and the vehicle braked without warning. The contact had no control over the steering wheel; the wheel ended up doing a 180-degree turn, and the front driver-side wheel detached. The vehicle ended up going into a ditch, where it came to a stop. No air bags deployed. The contact went to urgent care afterward, and the doctor prescribed muscle relaxers for minor back injuries. The police were called; however, no police report was filed. The tire was attached back to the vehicle, and the vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the failure was related to an electrical issue. The dealer completed a full tune-up. The dealer test drove the vehicle, and multiple warning lights illuminated. The dealer reset the system on the vehicle. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that a month before the accident, while the vehicle had maintenance work done, the contact informed the dealer that the vehicle was "acting weird." No cause for the failure was found on the vehicle. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 2,000.

The radio doesn't stay on at times while the screen is flipping to numerous places on it's own. I read online that many people are having this problem so it should be covered as a defect, a recall. My car is garage kept and kept very clean. I tried resetting but didn't help.

ODI #11713297ENGINE

My car had a head gasket failure. I lost power and control of the vehicle. Mistlin Honda in Modesto confirmed it was a head gasket failure. No, all warning lamps came on at the sametime.

ODI #11713017ENGINE

The engine cylinder head developed a crack causing coolant leak, causing the coolant system to lose fluid. The leak originated from a hairline crack in the cylinder head, which has been confirmed by an independent, certified mechanic. The vehicle remained drivable initially, but a loss of coolant could lead to engine overheating, and catch on fire or smoke creating a potential safety hazard for the driver and others on the road. The vehicle was inspected at an authorized dealership at the direction of the manufacturer, which performed a teardown to diagnose the issue. After this inspection, additional engine components (timing chain and head gasket) were identified as damaged, though these failures were not present prior to the teardown. Other users facing similar leak issues were treated the same by dealership blaming other component issue and disregarding the visible crack. This defect appears to affect multiple vehicles of the same engine, as reported by other owners nationwide. Warning signs included coolant loss, which could escalate into a larger safety risk if not addressed. I have attached few user complains but if needed I can provide lot more user complaints around the nation as it is never ending.

The infotainment screen glitches all the time while driving and while stopped. Examples of this include the screen zooming out of your navigation then no longer responding to your touches, leading you to take your eyes off the road and get distracted. The screen also makes random phone calls and hangs up calls. The screen will quickly change to another app or screen creating quick flashes and distractions especially driving at night. Also, while in reverse the different camera views are unavailable because the screen won’t respond to your touches. This is a huge distraction while driving and makes for an unsafe driving experience. The dealer said years ago that they could replace the screen but the parts are on back order and it’s been months of no response from them every time we ask about a replacement unit. Others have also reported replacing the screen doesn’t solve the issue as it just keeps happening again. Honda should recall all these defective units.

I purchased a 2022 Honda Accord Sport 2.0 in 2023 with less than 100 miles at the time of purchase. To this day it has 15,005 miles, I comply with recommended maintenence, however the car has been trying to kill me. I purchased Honda Care along with numerous other extended warranties. Mind you I paid for the ENTIRE car in cash. While driving, the car randomly slams on the breaks when no one is on the street and it also does in the middle of traffic. There have been several instances in which I have almost been rear ended because the vehicle slams on its breaks without notice. This happens even when the break assist is turned off. I turn it off everytime I start the car but it turns itself back on while the car is motion. One morning on my way to work there were no cars (5am), there was nothing in the road and the RED BRAKE DASH LIGHT Flashed then the car slammed on the brakes. I was traveling about 45-50 mph and the car abruptly stopped. I sustained multiple bruises from the seat belt shoulder strap and lap belt. I have previous chronic back issues that were aggrevated by this incident. I am still under a physicians care for my back issues (unrelated) but I do believe this occurrence aggrevated these issues even more. I did not want to make a huge deal out of this however the vehicle continues to slam on the brakes without notice and I am fearful that I will injure myself, my grandson, or someone else as a result of a defective vehicle. I took my car to Honda today 1/14/2026 and they were absolutely no help. There was no consistency when I was told how they could diagnose the problem & no time frame was given. There is nothing I could have done in order to make your automatic breaking system fail when Honda is the only one that does work on my car. I requested to speak to the GM Curtis Hensley and that request was ultimately denied. Honda care said the dealership could loan me a vehicle and the dealership said I had to rent it plus pay $180 diagnostic fee.

I noticed random misfires months ago. I've replace my spark plug three times in 6 months. My coils are good, etc. It started getting worse about a month ago. It goes into limp mode and suddenly slows to 20 mph. Some days it won't start. The dash lights flash and the cars computer goes crazy it won't go over 20 mph. This is a widespread issue causing ppl to spend thousands and no fix in sight. Usually it hits between 15-90k miles. Twice I was on the interstate and it just slowed to 20 mph. I have had it at the dealer twice. They are clueless and can't do much without Honda stepping up. Honda needs to address this. My car was built in 2021 and somehow missed a major recall. It's putting stress on my catalytic converter and other parts that cost thousands to fix. I'm taking it in on Monday for the third time. If they can pinpoint it this time I'm afraid it might cost me thousands. It's a Honda and it shouldn't be having issues from 15k to 90k.

am reporting a problem with the Forward Collision Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking system. The vehicle has repeatedly given collision warnings and applied braking when there was no vehicle, person, or obstacle in front of me. I purchased the vehicle used in July 2023 with approximately 30,000 miles. It now has approximately 108,000 miles. Over the time I have owned the vehicle, this issue has occurred about ten times while I was driving. Four of these incidents happened recently with a passenger in the vehicle, which confirmed the issue was not driver error. In several instances, the system gave rapid warning beeps and then applied braking even though the road ahead was clear. One time this occurred at highway speed with no traffic in front of me. Another time it occurred on a lightly traveled local road with no visible hazard. The braking was sudden and unexpected. On one occasion, a leaf may have passed in front of the sensor, but the majority of incidents occurred with no visible trigger. There were no warning lights or messages before the events, only the collision alert immediately followed by braking. This behavior creates a safety risk because the vehicle can brake unexpectedly without an actual obstruction, which could lead to a rear end collision or loss of control. The problem has not yet been inspected by a dealer or manufacturer.

ODI #11704229ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

The fuel system on my 2022 Honda Accord malfunctioned and caused a sudden loss of power while my teenage son was driving. On 12/03/2025 at approximately 4:50 PM, the vehicle went into reduced-power (limp) mode while traveling in heavy highway traffic on a busy highway in a metro-area of >450,000 people. There was no shoulder available in which he could navigate onto. He was unable to accelerate and had to coast approximately one mile at low speed while many, many cars were driving around him during rush hour traffic , which created a dangerous situation with vehicles traveling at normal highway speeds. A Honda dealership has previously inspected and confirmed the problem. On 07/28/2025, the service center documented lean fuel condition, misfire codes (P0301, P0304), failed fuel-rail pressure, and injector-related faults. They recommended replacement of fuel-system components. The printed report and repair estimate are available for inspection upon request. Prior to the safety incident, the vehicle intermittently displayed symptoms such as hesitation during acceleration and irregular engine operation, but no permanent warning light stayed on. The failure has progressed over time and the same loss-of-power condition can recur at any time. This poses a risk because loss of propulsion in moving traffic can lead to a collision. The component issue has been confirmed by the Honda dealer, and documentation is attached. I am filing this report because the failure creates a safety hazard, has been reproduced by a local dealership, and has not been resolved. The repair show suggested I return to Honda for repair. Furthermore, during my research of this problem, I discovered tens of thousands of complaints from others experiencing this exact issue, including new low mileage vehicles. These complaints are available on all social media platforms and search engines, with each complaint indicating problems with the fuel injectors on engines using direct fuel injection.

The problem is with the Infotainment system. It was replaced once under warranty but is again malfunctioning. The infotainment system controls some critical features of the vehicle. One instance is when trying to calibrate tpms after a low condition, it is impossible to get control of the display as it makes "Ghost" selections or is hung up. Resets both hard and soft do not work. Removing the negative battery cable doesn't work. Note that research shows many Accords and other models are effected. It also seems the manufacturer is aware of the situation and doing nothing to correct it. This is a safety issue. If it were just the radio effected, I really would care. But because the cars systems rely on the infotainment systems, its a concern. Symptoms are : Freezing & Crashing: The screen becomes unresponsive or shuts down unexpectedly. Phantom Touches: The screen registers touches that aren't happening, selecting things randomly on its own. Audio/Radio Malfunctions: Stations changing or Bluetooth disconnecting. System Restarts: The unit turns off and on by itself, even after the car is off.

Over the past year, the infotainment/navigation screen on my 2022 Honda Accord was identified as faulty by the dealership as the screen would erratically freeze or select functions on my navigation without any prompting. This occurs often when I am driving the vehicle and is an unprompted distraction that takes my attention away from controlling the vehicle or requires me to pull over to reset my navigation. The dealership validated this as a known issue and confirmed the screen would be replaced. This part has been on backorder for months with some customers waiting nearly a year. The lack of response or escalation from Honda has been concerning. The dealership is in possession of photos and videos of the faulty screen.

My infotainment screen randomly registers phantom/ghost touches while I’m driving. It changes audio sources, turns the volume up, switches screens, opens apps, places phone calls on its own (including to coworkers), and becomes completely unresponsive to my actual touch inputs. It will also jump between menus and navigation screens without me touching anything. This takes my eyes off the road and has nearly caused multiple accidents. The dealership has already replaced the entire touchscreen unit, but the problem continues exactly the same. They told me Honda uses a third-party manufacturer for these units and that there is no known fix. Honda Care also has no resolution and sent me back to the dealership, creating a loop with no actual repair path. Both Honda and the dealer acknowledge this is a known issue affecting many Honda Accord owners, but no permanent fix exists. The system makes random phone calls, changes the map and audio menus while I’m driving, interferes with navigation, and prevents me from ending calls or controlling the screen. This is a major distraction and a direct safety hazard. The defect persists even after parts replacement. I am reporting this because it is a widespread, well-documented issue that Honda has not resolved, and it has the potential to cause serious accidents.

I purchased my Accord Sport Hybrid in October 2022. Within several months and intermittently thereafter, I would receive an alert to BRAKE on my dashboard--and most of the time, there would be no object in front of the vehicle. In the last 3 years since the purchase, there have been one or two times when the alert appeared and the vehicle actually slowed down spontaneously--much to my surprise. I spoke to the dealer, but was informed there was no recall about this issue. Now I am reading that Accord Hybrids 2023-25 are being recalled for this very problem! So, I am filing this notice because I believe my 2022 Accord Hybrid is also impacted and I would like this to be addressed. It is clearly a safety issue.

infotainment system is susceptible to intermittent ghost touches. This occurs when using any functionality of the screen of the infotainment system including navigation, music playing, apple car play, and hands free cell phone calls. The screen will open up new menus on its own, end a navigation route, place cell phone calls on hold, and not respond to touches from the driver. This creates a highly dangerous situaiton while driving as the driver must take their eyes off the road to attempt to remedy constant errors and glitches with the infotainment system. Particularly troublesome are instances occurring when using navigation as the driver will need to re-input a destination that was canceled or having a phone call placed on hold mid-conversation. Navigation systems are sometimes necessary to operate the vehicle. Phone calls are no longer hands free if the driver has to look down at their phone to try and disconnect it from the infotainment system to resume the call. This requires taking your eyes off the road for an extended period of time, potentially while traveling at highway speeds. Vehicle was returned to manufacture via dealership several times to address the issue. The Dealer confirmed a defective infotainment system in October 2024 and replaced it under warranty. Due to the part being on back-order it was not replaced until March 2025. The issue continues with the newly replaced screen. The vehicle has been returned several times to the dealer since replacing the screen. Dealer claims they cannot duplicate the issue and do not know what is causing it. Opened Case #: 15316225 with American Honda Motor Co. which went unresolved after several visits to the dealer.

this problem is related an Infotainment system problem. Infotainment screen turning on/off randomly, restarting unexpectedly, and autonomously switching between radio stations (e.g., AM to FM), audio sources (e.g., Bluetooth), maps, or other apps—are a well-documented problem for the 2022 Honda Accord (and similar 10th-gen models). This is often linked to faulty touchscreens, software glitches, or hardware defects. I have had the infotainment system replace less than a year ago, the problem has returned. This become a safety issue because some of the cars "Systems" are run from the infotainment center. When getting a low tire pressure alarm then refilling the tire to proper capacity, the tps cant be re-calibrated because the infotainment system is not responding to touch control.

I am writing to formally express my concern regarding a persistent and potentially dangerous issue with the infotainment system in my 2022 Honda Accord. After 2.5 years of ownership, the system has begun malfunctioning on a daily basis while using Apple CarPlay. The issue presents as follows: the screen rapidly and uncontrollably cycles through applications, exits navigation, changes windows within the navigation app, and intermittently turns the radio on and off without any input. When this occurs, the screen freezes and becomes completely unresponsive. I am often forced to press the screen repeatedly for several minutes in an attempt to regain control—all while driving. This behavior significantly distracts from the task of operating the vehicle safely, particularly when relying on navigation in unfamiliar areas. It is not only frustrating, but poses a clear and unacceptable safety risk. Furthermore, this is not an isolated incident. Numerous owners have reported similar experiences in online forums, specifically related to the 2022 Accord model. Despite the prevalence of these complaints, the issue has not been formally inspected by Honda or confirmed by a dealership in my case. However, I do have video documentation of the malfunction and would be happy to provide it upon request. I urge Honda to take this matter seriously. A vehicle’s central screen seizing control during operation transforms a basic function—navigation—into a dangerous distraction. This is a significant safety issue that requires immediate investigation and resolution.

I am submitting this complaint to formally report a recurring safety issue with the infotainment system in my 2022 Honda Accord. The system is experiencing what is commonly referred to as "ghost touching"—where the screen registers false inputs and changes functions on its own without any user interaction. This issue causes the display to randomly switch between menus, adjust settings, and even interrupt or cancel navigation while the vehicle is in motion. At times, the screen rapidly flashes through various menus or changes audio sources, which is not only distracting but dangerously diverts the driver’s attention from the road. It has even placed random calls to people as my phone's contacts are synced. This is a known issue among owners of similar Honda vehicles, and I personally had the infotainment unit replaced under warranty last year for the exact same problem. However, the issue has returned, and despite it being a documented, recurring defect, Honda is now refusing to cover the cost of repair, citing that my vehicle is no longer under warranty. I am deeply concerned that this malfunction poses a serious safety risk to drivers, passengers, and others on the road. It forces drivers to interact with the system to regain control or restore lost navigation/audio functions—often while driving—thereby increasing the likelihood of distracted driving incidents. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate this issue further and consider whether a recall or formal action is warranted to ensure that affected vehicles are repaired at no cost to owners and without further compromise to safety. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Have had numerous occurrences of the Infotainment System having a mind of its own during the past several months. This issue has been commonly intermittent. Driving conditions, temperature, road conditions, time of day, or anything else have had an effect on when it happens or duration that it happens. I have taken my vehicle in to the Honda dealership to have it diagnosed. The dealership diagnosed the issue as "Ghost Touch" and their recommendation was to replace the Infotainment System screen. It was days after the replacement that the "Ghost Touch" happened again with the new system installed. Most recently I had the vehicle in to the dealership for the "Ghost Touch" issue. After hours of troubleshooting the dealership used their Tech Line to find more information about the "Ghost Touch" issue from Honda. The response was as follows: "Tech Line has been made aware of a false (Ghost/Phantom) touch with the display panel. This issue is under review by the vendor. As all parts in stock are affected, replacement of the display panel for this issue is not recommended at this time." As the Infotainment System becomes self aware and makes involuntary changes to maps, directories, and phone usage completely on its own and at random, it becomes a distraction to operating the vehicle in a safe manner. I called Honda Corporation to see if there was something that could be done and I was told to make sure that I went through the dealership and that they were aware of the issue. As this has become commonplace for the 2021 and 2022 Honda Accord models, that Honda has known about the issue for several years, and that there are apparently hundreds of owners of this vehicle that are having the same issue, that Honda would issue a recall or have a repair by this time. According to, and as of this date, the dealership is not aware of any recalls or repairs to this system by the manufacturer.

For the last 4–6 months, the infotainment display touchscreen on my car has been malfunctioning on nearly every drive. The screen registers phantom touches (as if multiple buttons are being pressed) when no one is touching it. Typical behavior: the audio switches from Bluetooth to AM/FM on its own, opens random menus, and then the screen freezes and becomes unresponsive for several minutes or until I turn the car off and back on. During a freeze I cannot change audio sources or select functions. This began as an occasional issue but has become more and more frequent. I have tried cleaning the screen and removed items from the rearview mirror to rule out reflections/obstructions with no improvement. Safety concerns: the malfunction is distracting and forces me to use my phone for navigation when the screen freezes and I can’t access maps through the car reliably when needed. My state has a hands-free law prohibiting touching/holding a phone while driving, so this defect creates both a crash risk due to distractions caused by the radio malfunctioning and a risk of citations for something outside my control. I contacted my local Honda service department on August 5, 2025. They stated they’ve performed software updates and even radio replacements for other owners with the same issue, but customers return with the problem, and they are not offering an effective repair at this time. The faulty touch screen infotainment system creates an environment that is not conducive to safe driving. This specific issue is referred to as the "ghost touch" across the industry which involves the system randomly rapidly pressing buttons autonomously and producing an audible beep with every press of the button. Not only is every random beep a distraction but this issue causes drivers to attempt to regain control of the infotainment system while driving due to the fact that most drivers now rely on these systems for navigation and to abide by hands-free traffic laws. You may ask "Why don't you simply turn the infotainment system off?". Well I tried and the system turns itself back on. This creates a scenario that is equivalent to the dangers presented by texting and driving. A simple google search of 'Honda Accord Ghost Touch' will yield a myriad of results with consumers experiencing this issue and sharing the same concerns. I have audio-video recording of this issue and have spoken to the service advisor at Pearson Honda located in Mildothian, VA and they are requesting that customers pay $180 for a diagnosis of this well known issue but they do not know the exact cause or solution. Customers have had their systems reset and even had the screen replaced and the issue still occurs. Component: Infotainment system / touchscreen panel (Display Audio Unit) Description of Issue and Safety Concern: The infotainment touchscreen panel on my 2022 Honda Accord malfunctions intermittently and unpredictably. It rapidly and repeatedly switches between modes (e.g., FM, AM, Bluetooth, phone) in a spastic pattern, similar to Morse code. This behavior often renders the touchscreen non-responsive. Even when powered off manually, it will turn itself back on and continue cycling through modes uncontrollably. This poses a safety risk by: •Creating driver distraction due to constant flashing, sound changes, and alerts. •Interrupting navigation, Bluetooth phone calls, and backup camera use. •Making it difficult to adjust settings or audio without taking eyes off the road. •Forcing the driver to troubleshoot or disable the screen while driving. The issue has been confirmed and documented by an authorized Honda dealership, and the vehicle is still under warranty. However, the part needed for repair has been unavailable, on backorder, since 9/2024. Despite multiple attempts, the manufacturer has not resolved the issue. No warning lamps or diagnostic codes are present, but the defect remains ongoing and persistent. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. ________________________________________

I purchased my 2022 Honda Accord Sport 1.5 T in December 2021. Around 20k miles, I began experiencing issues with the steering. There was a sticky sensation that required exerting force. I took into the dealership on numerous occasions only to be told "there was nothing wrong" or that "the issue could not be duplicated". It eventually began to get worse around 52k miles, so around October of 2023, I began going back to the dealership, only for the same answers of "can not be duplicated". At 60k miles, the unfindable issue become discoverable (Not sure if they were being honest or they were waiting until my warranty expired to properly diagnose the issue). The service advisor informed me that I would need a steering rack replacement. I asked would Honda assist with the repair as I had began complaining about the issue well before my warranty expired. The advisor informed me that Honda would not assist. Fast forward, a week later, I reached out to Honda myself and they gave me a green light for assistance with the repair. They agreed to cover $2200 for the part itself and I was responsible for the labor, which left me with a balance of $1400. In December of 2023, I had the repair done and the vehicle was driving a little better at first, but still a little off. Of course the service department ensured that nothing was wrong and they could not do anything unless something breaks or the computer throws a code. Fast forward to around June of 2024, I began having the same issues with the steering wheel sticking, but was out of warranty as the dealership stated that the warranty was a 2 year/12k mile warranty. This is ridiculous to pay all this money for vehicles, have it repaired and have to deal with the same issue again. Honda is well aware of this issue, but instead of doing the right and ethical thing and issuing a recall on the steering racks, they'd rather sit and act clueless and oblivious to the issue.

As I was about to merge onto the right lane of the freeway, my vehicle slams to a stop. The BRAKE icon appeared on the control panel, and worried about the vehicle behind me maybe hitting me, I attempt to pull to the right to get off the road. Luckily there were no vehicles on the freeway at the time close to me, and the vehicle that was behind me when I got onto the freeway on ramp, was far enough back. My vehicle only braked for a moment, but it was a hard jerk. It all lasted seconds and I managed to merge onto the freeway and continue on my way. I have not told the dealership yet, where I purchased the vehicle from, but I'm going in for regular service in a week and will address it then. There have been other times the BRAKE icon shows up, but the vehicle had never stopped on it's own before. That was a first. I have, however, noticed NUMEROUS electrical related problems with this vehicle. Well, I'm assuming it's all electrical (braking, speed, AC/heating, backup camera not working due to outside temp). I purchased it new, I'm the sole owner, it has just over 8K miles on it. I didn't bring it up with the dealer because I just chalked it up to numerous other problems I have with this vehicle, and figured I had a lemon, so it's too late to do anything about it. And most of the time if the dealer can't replicate the problem, they feel like it doesn't exist, they won't do anything anyway. I have since disabled any driver assist abilities in the vehicle. I have no issues with anyone inspecting my vehicle.

Re: Distracted Driving Awareness Month To whom it may concern: A little over a year ago, my 17-year-old car “gave up the ghost” and I bought a new Honda Accord. With this new car came a host of new-to-me technology. One item, that screen in the middle of my dashboard, is a contributing factor to the Distracted Driving Problem. Push buttons on radios were a great safety feature when first introduced. They allow drivers to change stations while driving without fiddling with the dial. Now, however, a driver takes their eyes off the road to look at the screen and select a channel or band or podcast, etc. Driving my old car, when I needed directions, I’d ask Siri to give me directions to a particular place, and she would talk me through it, giving me plenty of notice regarding when to turn, which exit to use, etc. All the while I kept my eyes on the road. Regretfully now, Siri also shows me a map on the screen indicating when to turn. Yes, she still talks to me, but there is this great temptation to take my eyes off the road and see where I’m going. During this Distracted Driving Awareness Month, I encourage you to reflect on the unnecessary road hazard that exist in the middle of the dashboard and eliminate those screens in future cars. We drove very well without them for over a century. And we don’t need another reason to take our eyes off the road.

On multiple occasions, my 2022 Honda Accord has used the automatic braking system against my better judgement and almost caused traffic collisions. - It has braked when I was simply turning around in a parking lot, nearly causing a vehicle to hit me. - It brakes when I'm trying to park my vehicle in a narrow garage space, despite not being in danger of hitting anything. - It has braked at traffic intersections when it sees cars turning in front of me, almost causing vehicles behind to collide with the back of my car. I filed a complaint with Honda, but they were unhelpful. Since it's impossible to permamently disable this safety feature, their only resolution was for me to remember to temporarily disable it every time I use the vehicle. It appears that this technology is flawed and prone to malfunctioning and Honda implemented it in their vehicles to track the data by using involuntary test subjects. In my view, this warrants a federal investigation and lawsuit. Thank you.

The Collision Mitigation Braking System is overly sensitive, aggressive, unpredictable and sometimes erratic causing extremely dangerous situations including almost causing traffic accidents due to unwarranted locking up of brakes sometimes on the freeway at very dangerous highway speeds. I've had about 5 scenarios where the system has terrified me by applying heavy stopping power in a dangerous and unexpected manner in situations where I would never apply the brakes! One of the occasions was on a 35mph roadway that had a small dip hardly anything, with no cars, pedestrians in front of me SLAMMED the brakes aggressively for 0 reason and with nothing in front of the car but a slight dip in the road. Another occasion was on a freeway at freeway speeds where the car dangerously slammed on the brakes causing unexpected and abrupt loss of speed which WOULD HAVE resulted in a car behind me rear-ending my vehicle, in this case luckily no vehicle was directly behind me in this instance, but in the future this can cause an accident and put myself and others at risk. This vehicle is brand new, less than 3,000 miles. I've contacted Honda Corporate who directed me to a Honda Dealer which they seemed to advise I will be out of pocket for a diagnosis fee for, on a car that randomly and unexpectedly SLAMS ON BRAKES. This is unacceptable, the system automatically turns back on as soon as the vehicle starts up, there's no way to permanently deactivate this dangerous feature. This needs to be resolved immediately!!!

I was told they could not find anything and they were working with Hondas Engineers about this problem. They said they could not release the vehicle until they had answer as it was a safety issue. Their conclusion was debris from he sensors...and it could happen again if a bug or rock it the sensor areas I also reported it to Honda Motor Co. case #13364245

ODI #11483667FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

Experienced very hard and rapid braking from the Collision Mitigation Braking System when no obstruction or collision was imminent. The dashboard indicated "BRAKING" at the time of the event, but there was otherwise no other warning or indication before the event happened. Issue has happened several times. Sometimes when drifting over a dashed line when merging onto a highway, but also happened this week when driving in a straight line while it was raining. All hard braking was when vehicle was over 50 MPH and on a highway.

ODI #11481485VISIBILITY/WIPER

The front windshield of the vehicle keeps fogging up and obscuring visibility. I have the A\C to come on only on my feet and my windshield still fogs up. No matter how hot or cold

ODI #11481470POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Was waiting at a red light and when the light turned green I started to accelerate. All of the sudden the car lost power and I had to pull over to the side of the road. The car won't move in drive or go into reverse. I was almost hit do to the fact the car lost power to the power train.

ODI #11478012FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

Car applies emergency braking with no imminent danger ahead. Very sudden, without warning, and very startling. Very dangerous especially with with cars following behind. Feature can be disabled but will automatically reenable when the car is restarted.

ODI #11476510WHEELS,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

Within 15k miles the cars wheel bearing completely went and needed to be replaced. The steering in my opinion hasn’t been the same since. I’ve had it in the shop 3-4 different times in relation to the wheels/steering. The car will also randomly brake as if it’s going to hit something when forward collision assistance is on. It’s nearly got me rear ended 3 times. The original dealership I took it too since I was out of town put that something was hit when in truth i never said that and it was actually the tow trucks wench that damaged the dust shield.

ODI #11473533FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

When I set my cruise control and drive in the middle lane, the car brakes automatically even though there is no car or any object in front of me. This can endanger traffic.

ODI #11473060LANE DEPARTURE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

While driving on numerous occasions and my 2022 Honda Accord the automatic emergency braking is activated out of nowhere there will be either no cars ahead of me or cars in opposite lanes but nothing in mine. I've had this car for about 3 months an it has happened at least 4 times. No accidents have happened because of this however it easily could have resulted in one. Also I'm filling and complaining about the lane keeping assist. Multiple times ive be driving with the lane keeping assist on hands on the wheel and all of a sudden it'll try to jerk me off the road this is extremely dangerous. If I'd have been paying less attention I would have definitely ended up in a ditch or worse.

Car is only 5 months old and 1500 miles. All lights on dashboard are on. Check engine, check brake, check emissions, check collision mitigation, check ABS - literally all lights are on.

The car shuffles on the concrete highway and causes a safety issue, and we cannot drive safely in this new vehicle purchase. I contacted my dealer Smat Honda, and Honda.com within 3 days and told them that I cannot drive the car, and I want to return it. It’s a safety risk, and it causes vertigo for both me and my wife.

ODI #11455917SUSPENSION

The contact owns a 2022 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving at 70 MPH on a mildly rough road, the vehicle wobbled significantly. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact continued to drive the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who test drove the vehicle on a smooth road and diagnosed that no issues were found. The dealer advised the contact that the issue was with the road where he had driven the vehicle; however, the contact had driven three other vehicles on the same mildly rough road surface and the vehicles did not experience the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring increasingly while driving. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 500. The VIN was not available.

ODI #11454017TIRES

I have a photo of my car when I bought it people commented that the tires looked low however no sensors were on within 3 days of me buying the car and with less than 200 miles my tire started leaking air and became flat I believe the pressure in the tires was low and no sensors ever came on and after my tires were fixed the ride seemed stiffer leading me to believe the tire pressure may have been low.

ODI #11454059SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

I have a 2022 Honda Accord Sport. The automatic braking system activates at random times, even when nothing is around the car. I have almost been rear ended several times because of this issue.

ODI #11450748VISIBILITY

The contact owns a 2022 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving at 70 MPH, the sunroof exploded. The contact immediately pulled over to inspect the vehicle and discovered the failure. The next day, the contact took the vehicle to the dealer where they informed him that a rock had caused the sunroof to shatter. The contact refuted the diagnoses and stated that a rock could not have caused the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 700.

ODI #11442409ENGINE

The contact bought his goddaughter a 2022 Honda Accord. The contact stated while his goddaughter's husband was driving approximately 55 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated the brake system, the admission system, the TPMS, and vehicle assist stability warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not drivable. The owner towed the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the VTC to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the following day, the dealer informed the contact that the engine also needed to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 22.

Chart Analysis

The blue line shows 162 total NHTSA complaints filed over 6 years, with the worst year being 2025 (71 complaints).

The amber reliability line is declining — recent years score around 10/100, lower than earlier in the vehicle's life. This pattern indicates issues are accumulating over time rather than being resolved, which is a concern for used buyers.

The red dashed line marks recall issuance — the first recall came 3 years after owners began filing complaints, a lag that indicates the manufacturer was slow to formally acknowledge these problems.

Red dots on the amber line flag 2 years (2023, 2026) where complaints included crash events — these are the highest-severity incidents in the dataset.
