My 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe RST Performance Edition equipped with the 6.2-liter V8 experienced a catastrophic engine failure at approximately 28,400 miles. The Tahoe was towed to an authorized Chevrolet dealership. The dealer confirmed an internal engine failure requiring complete engine replacement. The vehicle and failed engine are currently at the dealership in Lawrence, Kansas, and should be available for inspection upon request. The precise internal cause has not yet been provided to me in writing. I was advised that obtaining and installing the replacement engine is expected to take approximately 60 to 90 days or longer. The scheduled 30,000-mile maintenance was performed by the Chevrolet dealership on June 29, 2026, when the odometer read 27,607 miles. The engine failed less than two weeks later, after approximately 800 additional miles. Two days before the failure, I noticed a knocking or ticking sound from the engine. Immediately before the failure, I heard loud squeaking or screeching followed by a severe metallic clanking sound, as though loose metal components were being thrown around inside the engine. The engine then shut off and the vehicle became immobilized in Park at an intersection. I was the first vehicle in a left-turn lane and could not shift the Tahoe into Neutral to push or coast it out of the roadway. Heavy traffic turning toward the highway was forced to maneuver around the disabled vehicle, creating a significant risk of a collision. The outside temperature was approximately 95 degrees, with a heat index of approximately 109 degrees. My dog was with me, and it took more than an hour to arrange transportation for him to a safe location before I could return to the disabled vehicle and continue waiting for the tow truck.
An Over-The-Air / Chevrolet Dealership software update removed a physical, hands-on-wheel control function, forcing me to divert my eyes from the road to the central touchscreen to perform a basic driving task (channel surfing) on the radio. Specifically, the right front steering wheel toggle used to allow you to scroll sequentially up or down from one radio station / frequency / SiriusXM channel to the next. The new functionality only allows you to select preset stations, duplicating the functionality on the left rear (back side of the wheel) steering wheel toggle button. The only way you can now scroll sequentially up/down from one channel to the next is by taking your eyes off the road, reaching over to the center console, and swiping left or right to move from one channel to the next. This is far more dangerous as it is a distraction to the driver and it takes the driver's eyes off their forward view.
This 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe has experienced three separate and recurring engine-related failures. The first failure occurred at approximately 41,350 miles and required replacement or repair of the lifters and camshaft. The vehicle remained at the dealership for approximately 15 days. The second failure occurred at approximately 54,619 miles and involved another lifter failure along with traction control problems. The third failure occurred at approximately 65,140 miles. The Check Engine warning light illuminated while the vehicle was being driven, and the vehicle again experienced engine-related problems. The vehicle has now been at the dealership for more than one week, and no repair or permanent solution has been provided. I am concerned that these repeated engine failures and traction control problems create a serious safety risk, particularly because the vehicle is driven on public roads and highways. Despite previous repairs, the engine problems continue to recur. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate these repeated safety-related failures.

ON JUNE 2ND 2026, the air conditioning in my 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe failed without warning. The system began blowing warm air instead of cold air, making the vehicle uncomfortable to drive. At the same time, I noticed that both front ventilated (cooled) seats had also stopped working. Although the seat cooling indicator lights illuminated when activated, the seats did not produce any cooling. I called to schedule an appt and took the vehicle to the dealership for diagnosis and repair on june 4, 2026. The dealership determined that the A/C condenser had failed and replaced it. I was advised that the repair had been completed, and I picked up the vehicle believing the issue had been resolved. Shortly after the repair, it became apparent that the problems had not been fully corrected. While the air conditioning initially appeared to function, the ventilated seats continued to provide no cooling despite appearing to operate normally. This marked the beginning of an ongoing series of HVAC-related failures that ultimately required multiple return visits to the dealership.
Driving in bumper to bumper traffic in my 2025 Tahoe and the automatic braking system slammed on the brakes at 10 mph causing me to get rear ended.The light turned green and traffic started moving forward and I'm hitting the gas pedal when my truck just slams on the brakes causing the girl behind to rear end me. The car in front of me was moving forward and never hit their brakes but my car still slammed on the brakes for no reason. I was probably 6 or 7 feet away from the car in front. This isn't the first time this car has slammed on the brakes for no reason. It always seems to happen in the summer during sunny mornings as I'm headed east driving towards the sun. I got lucky the other 6 or 7 times this has happened up until today
On May 19, 2026, my 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe suffered a sudden, catastrophic engine failure while traveling at 60 mph on a public roadway. I originally took retail delivery of this vehicle brand new on October 29, 2025, with only 14 miles on the odometer; at the time of the failure, the vehicle had only accumulated 10,049 total miles. The failure resulted in an immediate, complete loss of motive power at highway speeds, creating a severe, life-threatening safety hazard to myself, my passenger, and surrounding traffic. The vehicle was towed to an authorized GM dealership for emergency service. Upon removing the oil pan, dealership technicians discovered a high volume of metal debris and fragments, indicating a severe internal mechanical failure (likely failed engine bearings). General Motors corporate subsequently mandated secondary diagnostic teardowns. Following these tests, GM confirmed a total, non-repairable engine failure requiring a complete engine assembly replacement. This vehicle has remained entirely out of service and non-operational since the date of the incident. On June 24, 2026, with the vehicle out of service for 36 consecutive days, I issued a formal demand letter to General Motors Customer Relations, demanding that they adhere to New York State Lemon Law statutory requirements and initiate an immediate vehicle buyback. Due to this severe defect, this vehicle is now deemed entirely unsafe and unreliable for my family, as our confidence in its mechanical integrity is permanently destroyed. Furthermore, a vehicle requiring a complete engine replacement at this mileage has suffered severe diminished financial value. A catastrophic engine failure on a low-mileage, current-generation vehicle poses an immediate, critical manufacturing defect and an unacceptable risk of high-speed collisions.
The air conditioning/climate control system failed. I initially brought the vehicle to the dealership on June 4, 2026, because it was blowing hot air. The dealership replaced the condenser on June 5, 2026. On June 12, 2026, the driver's side again began blowing hot air while the passenger side remained cold. By June 13, 2026, both sides were blowing hot air. The vehicle is being returned to the dealership on June 15, 2026, for an additional repair attempt related to the recurring air conditioning failure. The excessive heat created a safety concern because the cabin temperature exceeded 100°F despite the air conditioning being turned on. I developed hives and a rash on my face, neck, trunk, and arms from the heat exposure. Excessive cabin temperatures can impair driver concentration and increase the risk of heat-related illness. Yes. An authorized Chevrolet dealership diagnosed the issue and replaced the condenser on June 5, 2026. The problem reoccurred within approximately one week of that repair. The vehicle has been inspected by an authorized Chevrolet dealership and remains available for inspection by the manufacturer or its representatives. There were no warning lights or messages. The only symptom was the air conditioning blowing hot air instead of cold air.
On June 12, 2026, while operating my 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe, I experienced an apparent powertrain or transmission-related issue. At the time, the vehicle was already exhibiting another defect involving the air conditioning system, with the driver's side blowing hot air and the passenger side blowing cold air. While attempting to accelerate and pass another vehicle, the engine RPM suddenly increased to approximately 6,000 RPM. The RPM remained elevated momentarily before gradually decreasing. The vehicle's response was abnormal and inconsistent with normal acceleration. Because I was close to home, I continued driving but remained concerned about the vehicle's operation. Since that incident, the same condition has occurred approximately two to three additional times. The problem is intermittent and does not occur every time I accelerate, making it difficult to predict when it will happen. This condition creates a safety concern because sudden, unexpected increases in engine RPM while attempting to accelerate can affect vehicle performance and driver confidence, particularly when passing other vehicles or merging into traffic. The vehicle is being returned to the dealership for evaluation, and the defect remains unresolved.
***SAFETY/DANGER*** On April 12th at around 5:30 p.m. my family of five, to include three minor children were returning home from visiting family which live about an hour and a half away and as we're traveling on the freeway at highway speeds, in traffic, our new Tahoe unexpectedly and without warning went into reduced power mode and cut speed down to approximately 35 MPH in active traffic, which out my family and every other car around me in danger and in jeopardy of causing a collision and even worse, a multiple car pile-up as I dodged full speed traffic in front and behind me while traveling at approximately half their speed. I managed to exit the freeway and heard a loud knocking noise from the engine and saw the reduced power mode indicator, all of which had not happened before but again, the Tahoe is relatively new and was just over 5 months and at 8,889 miles at failure. I proceeded to contact GM roadside assistance. They sent a tow truck and I had to make arrangements for my family to return home, an hour away. I made it to the dealership with the tow truck driver after 9 p.m. ***CATASTROPHIC DAMAGE**" After the dealership inspected close to a week later they did determine that the entire engine and turbocharger had to be replaced, which they did in a little over a month, the dealership did their part but confidence is lost. Now I am hesitant to drive the Tahoe as it's the family vehicle but really put my kids, wife, myself and everyone around us on the road in danger as it, out of nowhere, cut speed drastically in active highway traffic.
I was leaving my neighborhood on Saturday night 5/16 around 5:30 and on the way out all of a sudden the dashboard started lighting up and the speed was dropping despite me being on the gas. The screens kept flashing then the car stopped and went into park and I could not get it out of park. I was at the front of my nieghborhood entrance and it made it hard for others to come in and out. I tried to restart it. My husband tried to jump it. I tow truck came about two hours later only to realize it could not tow it since the vehicle was stuck in park and could not be powered to move it to neutral. They had to call a new tow truck. I was sitting in my car stuck in the entrance of my neighborhood impeding traffic for close to 4.5 hours. A new tow truck finally arrived at close to 9:45pm. It was towed on dollies to the dealership. They inspected it today and said the starter and the engine had both failed/blown and needed full replacement. I am waiting to hear back from them on the estimated time for replacement biut could take weeks which is devastating. My vehicle is the 2025 Chevy Tahoe High Country with the 6.2 L V8 engine that I now understand has issues prior to 2025 and was recalled but nothing yet for the 2025. My car is only 9 months old and has 12,100 miles on it. I am devastated. Prior to this I had no issues and there were no sounds or issues it just happened. It was dark by the end and I was sitting in the middle of the road and the lighting in the area is limited so I had to have someone bring me lamps so other drivers could see me as the car is black and it was very dark. Someone almost hit me pulling into the neighborhood as a result thankfully I was able to get lamps.
The issue is related to Super Cruise hands free driving. During a recent long trip multiple times the Super Cruise signaled for lane change and tried to move into the passing lane with a car directly beside me. I have 8,500 miles on this car and have used Super Cruise extensively on highway driving only and until this last trip never had any issue with the system seeing cars in lanes beside me before. I only avoided a collision because I prevented the lane change by grabbing the steering wheel. This software bug will end up with injury or death of individuals unless Chevy fixes this immediately. Your help in investigating this is appreciated. I will add my son has a 2025 Suburban and has experienced the car trying to pull into traffic beside him.
On Friday May 1, 2026 while parked at my home, the rear glass lift gate burst into multiple shards. I have taken a few photos of the outside as I found it. In my surprise, I failed to photograph the glass in the interior of the vehicle. I have owned this car since new, since near the end of July of 2025. I had unloaded some groceries from the back area, raising and lowering the large metal lift gate. The glass lift gate was NOT used. As a matter of recording, I have only lifted the glass once or twice since owning the vehicle. The main metal lift gate is the unit used most often. Apparently, this is a known issue with several reports online. What I found online seems similar in that no impact or accident occurred to cause the glass to shatter. What is odd, instead of a typical safety glass experience of a "spider web" type of fracture and the glass staying intact, this was "exploded" with the glass found in multiple shards both in the car and outside on the ground. When I called my local Chevrolet dealer, they denied knowledge of this as a problem within the fleet. Because this is a use issue and weather issue, I am having to personally pay for repair. The new window will cost almost $1000.00 to repair.
As i was driving down the road at approximately 40-45mph the sunroof spontaneously exploded. Sounded like a shotgun going off. Fortunately i had the sun shade shut but still tiny glass shards came in and fell on my child and the entire interior in the mid section of vehicle. There was no vehicle in front of me, it was night time with temps in mid 70’s no reason it should've exploded outward as if a gun shot from inside of vehicle which also implies nothing hit glass. Vehicle is at mcconnel automotive dealership where they are telling us that warranty will not cover this and we must claim on our insurance. I also called GM headquarters and they denied claim as well (case# 95312600) have spoke with several other owners on a facebook group this has happened to and GM has and is denying warranty coverage on them as well.
I am filing a safety complaint regarding my 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe Premier for repeated brake assist/braking failures. Most recent incident: While driving, the check engine light came on. I turned the vehicle off for approximately 10 minutes and restarted it, but the check engine light remained on. Approximately 20 minutes later, multiple warnings appeared on the dash including: “Brake Assist Failure Press Hard to Brake,” “Speed Limited,” and “Service ESC.” At that point, braking ability was severely reduced. I was close to my destination and approached a stop sign. I intended to roll through the stop sign because the brakes were not functioning normally, but another vehicle suddenly approached. I pressed the brake pedal with both feet. The brakes were stiff and hard to press. The vehicle still did not stop properly and came to a stop in the middle of the road past the stop sign. After arriving at my destination, the vehicle sat for approximately 1–2 hours. When restarted, the brakes appeared normal again, but the check engine light remained on. In the MyChevrolet diagnostics app, it then showed warnings for Engine and Transmission System, Transmission System, and Four Wheel Drive System. While driving to the dealership afterward, the vehicle also began shaking. This same issue previously occurred on April 16, 2026. I was driving on the interstate when the brakes lost assist and the dash displayed “Service ESC,” “Brake Assist Failure Press Hard to Brake,” and “Speed Limited.” After reaching my destination, I was told by someone at the dealership to turn the vehicle off for 10 minutes to see if that would fix things, so I turned the vehicle off for about 10 minutes. When restarted, all warning lights were gone and braking returned to normal. I still drove the vehicle to the dealership that same day for service. This is a repeated, intermittent brake failure / brake assist failure creating a serious safety hazard and near collision risk.

I backed out of my driveway put it in drive stepped on the gas and the car hesitated and just shut down. Steering wheel locked up I had no time to even stair it out of the road. Try to start it and would not start but the dash and radio would come on. Tried to get in neutral to get it out of the road but everything is electronic so we could not do it. We had to have the car towed to the closet dealership. It took them two weeks to even diagnose the problem working along side GM service. Two weeks could have been saved with GM knowing they had a bulleting and problem with the LZO 3.0 Duramax diesel motors. It is not week 5 I still do not have a car and they have not even started putting the new motor in. GM has not been helpful AT ALL! It has been a miserable 5 weeks. They told me I could rent a car myself with a cap of $44 per day with all taxes and fees included and I MAY be reimbursed. So I have to put the money out of my pocket first and they may reimburse me. At this point I would be already out $1540.00 which is not in my budget. I purchased a brank new 2025 Chevy Tahoe 3.0 Duramax diesel motor car and it only has 8k miles on it and the motor is blown. I also paid for the car in full. I have asked GM numerous times to tell me where I went wrong and they have no answers as usual. It has been a horrible experience to this point and I have no idea when it is going to end. The dealership is trying to tell me that my car would not have dies going at higher speeds. I am so luck it happened in my neighborhood and not while on the highway. I could have been killed!
On March 21, 2026, I rented a Chevrolet Tahoe (approx. 24,450 mileage driven). While operating the vehicle on a freeway at approximately 40–50 mph, the braking system and ABS failed suddenly without any warning. Barely no brakes were able to apply to stop the vehicle. It also started to show that ECS service (Electronic Stability Control) and Service Brake Pad Monitor. Many faults started to show.
I have a 2025 Chevy Tahoe and the automatic braking system is way too sensitive. When I’m reversing, it constantly slams on the brakes even when I still have enough space and nothing is in my way. It also brakes when people are nearby but not actually in my path. One time I was stopped and about to move forward, and the car suddenly braked because a construction worker was a few feet away, not in front of me. It caught me off guard and didn’t feel safe. The braking is very sudden and aggressive, and it makes normal driving and parking difficult. It feels unreliable and could cause a dangerous situation.
Pulled into a pharmacy, vehicle died and completely shut off while driving. 3400 miles, towed to dealership, March 5, 2026. Still no answer from dealership for why this happened and no loaner vehicle yet because they cannot confirm it's a warranty issue
While driving on the highway, the vehicle suddenly downshifted and shut down and would not restart. All lights appeared on the cluster and showed "conditions not correct for shift". Had to have vehicle towed from the side of the road and wasn't even able to shift into neutral.
I was driving when I noticed my vehicle lagging and possibly misfiring, and then the "Service Four-Wheel-Drive" warning appeared. I was just down the road from my house, so I pulled into the driveway and put the car in park, but it wouldn’t turn off. I realized the parking brake was engaged and wouldn’t release either. I was stuck in two-wheel drive and couldn’t switch to four-wheel drive, and the emergency brake wouldn't disengage when I pressed the button, so the vehicle still wouldn't shut off. I had to put it in reverse physically step on the gas, which Is the only way The parking brake finally disengaged And allowed the vehicle to shut off.
While I was driving, my vehicle suddenly lost all power I encountered a misfire with the engine light flashing, and diagnostic codes P0353 and P0300 indicated a misfire on cylinder three. The coil pack and spark plugs for that cylinder were replaced, yet issues persist and problems continue. There is a strange popping and cracking noise coming from my dash. My brakes are also making it loud sound randomly when pressing on breaks yet brake pads are fine

Dealer grounded vehicle for excessive crankshaft play due to thrust bearing failure. Been without vehicle since 1-20-2026 and although I have received 2 text from service manager I have not been told when I will get vehicle back. Mileage was at 4,820. Vehicle build date 7/25

My 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe Z71 3.0L LZO Duramax with approx. 3,380 miles experienced a sudden and complete engine failure while towing my camper on the interstate at night, in the rain, while traveling alone 375 miles from home. The vehicle lost power, displayed warnings, and became inoperable, forcing me onto the shoulder in unsafe conditions. The engine has been diagnosed as requiring full replacement due to a defective crank end play / thrust bearing, under Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) 25-NA-307. This is a significant safety concern for a new vehicle and could have caused a crash. GM has multiple documented issues with this model year, and the car has also experienced unresolved infotainment defects, as outlined in TSB #PIT6393F. Requesting NHTSA to investigate a potential safety defect.
2025 Chevy Tahoe: While approaching a traffic stop I hit the brake pedal and this would not work nor stopped the car. The pedal went all the way to the floor and would not work anymore. I believe the Emergency Brake activated and managed to stop the car. i was driving at The Check Engine warning light was immediately activated along with the following warnings: *Service Brake Assist *Check trailer Brake Lamps *Service Steering Column Lock *Service Traction Control *Service ESC *Service Brake Pad Monitor *Trailer Brake Disabled Service Required
I was driving up to a border check point and slowed down at the guard shack. Once cleared I released the brake and tried to accelerate. The vehicle shut down completely. I tried to restart it and the check transmission warning came on. The vehicle would not restart. I was blocking the lane at the border check. After a few minutes I was able to start the vehicle and limp over to the shoulder of the freeway. There was no power and loud knocking and squealing from the engine compartment. Engine light came on and several other warning lights that I don't recall. I was in the desert with 3 dogs in an unsafe area for 7 hours until I could get help. Vehicle was towed to the dealership and is currently under diagnosis but so far code P0016 and metal pieces in the oil.
When backing up the auto braking brakes very hard sudden stop without warning even though no objects near by. Appears to be from shadows and made worse when it is raining and the camera has water on the lense. I turned off the backup auto braking and it still does it. It brakes hard enough that it pinched a nerve in my neck causing sudden pain which chipped a tooth
After my vehicle experienced a brake system failure 3 weeks ago and I got my vehicle back from the dealership. I noticed that my vehicle has no emergency brake so in the event of this failure and/or future brake system failures there was no way to stop my vehicle. Their emergency brake is technically a parking brake that can only be applied when the vehicle is completely stopped. I'm not sure how a vehicle this unsafe would be even legally sold or allowed to operate on the roads.

I am reporting a critical safety design defect in my 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe Z71 (VIN: [XXX] ), involving the Brake Pedal Assembly geometry. Bought vehicle in January this year and within a few days of driving I noticed my foot repeatedly catching or hanging up on the brake pedal when moving from the accelerator to brake, which severely delays braking application (regardless of my footwear). This momentary obstruction creates an imminent risk of collision during sudden stops. This happens at least once a week when commuting to work. The component malfunctioning is the fixed brake pedal placement itself. No warning lamps or symptoms precede the issue; it is a physical interference defect. The problem was reported to Courtesy Chevrolet in Phoenix, Arizona on 10/02/2025 (Service R.O. 694801). The service advisor verbally acknowledged the issue but stated it was a "factory design issue" they could not fix, explicitly referring me to GM for resolution. Driving along the highway in cruise control at about 70mph without any trailer being pulled. Suddenly I got brake errors. ABS, ESC, Trailer brake error failures all popped on the dash warnings. Brakes were unresponsive only applying hard pressure to the brake pedal was effective. There was zero feedback from the brake pedal to myself on it engaging and braking effectively. If this happened in a situation requiring more immediate braking, I would not have been able to figure out the braking capability of my vehicle in time. There were no issues with my vehicle at the time. I see that similar issues have been reported on Facebook "Chevy Tahoe Owners Group". Unknown whether it's a sensors glitch or a SW issue. After a few hours of being parked the car brake system started to work properly again. Made an appointment to check out they system at the dealership.
The vehicle is making a loud ticking noise which leads me to suspect this car has similar, if not the same issue as the 21-24 recalled L87 6.2 engines. I took it in the first time, they couldn’t reproduce the noise but I already have video documented footage over a few days with the sound of knocking/ticking from the motor. After they did an early oil change at the same mileage I brought the vehicle in for diagnosis, the sound completely went away. A few hundred miles later the sound has come back and the engine is knocking at idle. I have another inspection/ appointment this coming week for the vehicle. Additionally, the vehicle makes loud noises from the steering column after it has been turned off. It also seems to wander when driving the vehicle and the steering wheel assists cause the wandering within lane. It is very unsafe to drive this vehicle due to these two issues.
4/24 The check engine light was flashing and the car went into limp mode and the display noted to pull over for safety. On 4/25 We took the car to the dealer they did some reprogramming. On 4/26 the vehicle keeps loosing power when driving.. Scheduled another appointment on 4/28 to have vehicle looked at.
Bought the 2025 Chevy Tahoe, had about 680 miles on it. 400 of which were from the dealership. Had the pleasure of driving it for a week. Check engine light came on and was told that the transmission valve body had gone bad. The issue regarding that particular transmission has existed since 2019. However the part needed is allegedly on back order, and GM has no idea when they will get that part in.
I was driving and the driver dash frozen. I couldn't tell my speed, it didn't indicate blinker or hazards. It would say i was in "D" when the car was parked. The center dash shut down completely. The seat belt indicator didn't work, none of the charging ports worked. **THIS IS A RENTAL CAR**** I do have video of the dash.
