VERIFYCriticalTiming Chain Tensioner
Typical interval: 120,000 mi / 10 yr · Verify service records (no odometer on file)
Verify timing chain tensioner service history with the seller
Worn chain tensioners cause timing chain skip or snap — common on GM 5.3L/6.2L, Ford EcoBoost, VW/Audi EA888, BMW N47/N63. Listen for cold-start rattles.
VERIFYCriticalWater Pump
Typical interval: 100,000 mi / 8 yr · Verify service records (no odometer on file)

I have now had 3 transmissions and 3 torque converters put in my car and GM refuses to do anything to fix this issue.

ODI #11764051POWER TRAIN,SERVICE BRAKESCRASH1 INJURY

The contact owned a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while driving 3 MPH, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to stop as intended. The vehicle decelerated, and the vehicle was uncontrollable. The vehicle crashed into the brother's vehicle parked in the driveway and pushed the vehicle forward. The vehicle then crashed into a desk before stopping. The contact stated that the failure had occurred while parking the vehicle in the driveway at the brother’s residence. The contact and her husband were inside the vehicle at the time of the failure. The vehicle was towed to a local tow yard. The contact was taken to the local medical center. The contact sustained pain in the right knee. The vehicle was inspected by the insurance company and deemed a total loss. A Police report was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 60,324.

While parking the vehicle, after putting the transmission lever to park, and turning off the ignition, the doors unlocked and I started to exit, at that moment the vehicle started to roll backwards. I was able to avoid running over myself and got back into the driver's seat when I saw a "shift to park" message on the dashboard display. It took multiple cycles of restarting and stopping the engine and shifting to park to actually have the transmission shift to park. The problem continues and is becoming much more frequent and taking more attempts to actually put the car in park. This is obviously a safety issue, because drivers may exit their vehicles and may or may not realize that the ignition is on, that the battery can run down and strand them, possibly in a dangerous location, or the vehicle can move, injuring themselves or others. Also the door locks won't work. This is a well-known problem among multiple General Motors models. It is a systemic design flaw of the switch, not a random breakdown and not caused by abuse or misuse. Some vehicles have been recalled, some of the same model and year as mine. But, the recalls are specific according to VIN, and yet for some unknown reason, my specific VIN is not recalled. The problem is known and well documented. The solution is known. The safety problem is known, but apparently only if the VIN is in a certain range. All VINs matter. I will take my vehicle to an authorized dealer for repair. But there should be a recall and repair for all vehicles with this known (defective by design) switch. Also there should be full reimbursement to those who have already paid for repairs.

ODI #11760075STEERING,POWER TRAINCRASH3 INJURIES

When driving at about 50 mph on a highway, there was a loud noise from the rear of the vehicle (something breaking) and the vehicle immediately veered into the oncoming lane (thankfully there was no traffic coming towards us, it is typically a busy road). While braking, I was able to steer it back towards the right, but soon after lost complete control of the vehicle and could not steer. The traverse went into a ditch and rolled with myself and two young passengers. Two vehicles that were behind us stopped to aid. The driver immediately behind me said there was nothing unusual (no smoke, sparks, etc) until we lost control. He checked the roadway where it happened and found a sheered off bolt. When we got the traverse to the wreckers, they lifted it up and within a minute or two found the location the bolt came from. It was the rear passenger side upper control arm knuckle bolt. I didn't see any recalls on something like this, but I do not believe something like this should have happened in a vehicle that has just 49,510 miles and barely any rust on it. I need answers. My family and friends could have been attending a funeral this week had circumstances been slightly different. I can provide pictures, but the upload link would not work for photos even after converting to proper size and file type. I have the collision report number but not the actual report on hand just yet.

The exhaust clamp rusted and broke, causing a hole in the exhaust which set off the engine light and eventually poisoned my catalytic converter costing $4000 to replace. GM's extended warranty exception for the admitted defect is to replace the clamp and flex pipe only, about $100 worth but they refused to cover the peripheral damage caused by the faulty clamp.

ODI #11752996POWER TRAIN

My transmission is said to be failing. I plan to get it looked at again this week. Safety of me and my two children are at risk when driving. The car shakes and could lose control. An independent I tried reporting it to my insurance but they told me to go to a mechanic and they won’t do anything to help me. There are no warning signals or lights or anything. It just started shaking and it’s scary to drive. I was told by an independent mechanic that it is my transmission. There was a recall in 2020 for transmission and he thinks it was never fixed and that’s most likely the issue. I have not gotten it fixed yet. It’s sitting in my driveway because I’m scared to drive my kids in it and it’s too expensive. So we had to get a rental car.

ODI #11752521POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

My car WILL not register that it is in park even though the dash says it’s in P and my gear shift is pushed all the way up in the park gear. It has taken hours some days for it to finally acknowledge that it is indeed in the park gear. I do NOT have time for that! And if it gets to the point where I have a dead battery because I didn’t “shift to park”, Chevrolet WILL be paying for it. This is insane and apparently has been an ongoing issue for a decade! FIX IT!

The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle experienced hard shifting. No warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was examined, and the contact was informed that the transmission or the transmission valve body had failed. The cause of the failure was not yet determined, and the vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in an extended warranty coverage related to the failure. The failure mileage was 140,000.

The contact owned a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for an inspection, where a leaking oil pan gasket was diagnosed. Although the vehicle had been taken to the dealer two months prior, the dealer did not find the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 74,000.

The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while shifting into park(P), the “Shift to Park” warning light illuminated, even though the vehicle was already shifted to park(P). The contact stated that the gear selector was shifted back and forth several times before it was recognized that the vehicle was in park(P). During the failures, the warning light remained illuminated, causing the battery to drain and the following day the vehicle was unable to start. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

I bought my traverse in 2024 it’s now two year later and my entire transmission needs replaced no longer shifting between 1000& 2000rpms this is a known issue with these vehicles and there hasn’t been a recall yet. Also the button in my shift knob tells me it is not in park (shift to park) even though it’s clearly in park. Along with the transmission issue the stabilitrack warning comes on every time the car comes out of auto shut off and jumps forward. How is this safe?

My 2019 Chevy Traverse prior to "The Storm" when I left work and approached my vehicle someone left a not in my windshield wipers stating that my horn was honking every 15 seconds it was a long shift so by the time I got to my vehicle my battery was dead. I got a jump from a co-worker allowed my alternator to charge my battery, and it was fine (so I thought). Then the day after "The Storm" happened, my Traverse went haywire displaying multiple signs of electronic failures while driving on a major highway: Service ESC, ABS disabled, Traction control disabled, Power steering disabled, Horn honked continuously, windows won't roll down, Key fob unresponsive, Manual lock/ unlock switch unresponsive, A/C on but doesn't blow cold, infotainment system on, Cluster Hazard light indicators on but lights aren't illuminated, Windshield Wipers on max speed unprompted while spraying continuously. I pulled over, placed the vehicle in "park", turned the vehicle off, safely exited to realize my vehicle was still running, got back into the vehicle where I was greeted by a prompt that said to place the vehicle in park to turn it off. I attempted to shift but it was immovable, called a tow truck. Every time after dealership visits/ repairs my vehicle shutoff while moving. It's been to the dealership 3 times (4 to include tomorrow) I've also connected an OBD2 Scanner to run a diagnostic after the last visit and these faults appeared almost instantly. Work done so far: x2 BCM replacements (w/ flashed software) x1 Battery replacement x1 Keyless Entry Module replacement x1 Driver door lock/unlock switch replacement x3-->4 tow trucks Over $3,000 in expenses

Exhaust bracket broke, created a hole in pipe, which then resulted in cracked catalytic converter. Dealership and GM denied repairs due to the hole being on the "wrong pipe" but the same bracket that is covered broke resulting in the consequential damage. Check engine light came on, loud exhaust noise. Threw codes P219A, P2097, P0171. Bulletin even outlines that broken bracket/hole can cause cracks in converter, still denied. This is a known issue with the welding on this pipe/bracket, why they didn't extend the coverage to BOTH pipes is beyond me.

The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that the "Shift to Park" message was displayed after shifting the vehicle into park(P). The bells and whistles failed to go off, and the vehicle made a continuous beeping sound. The failure required the contact to restart the vehicle 14 times. The contact was concerned that the battery would die. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the "Shift to Park" light needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and offered cost assistance. A case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

My car started making a sound similar to a cracked muffler but it was a very quiet sound that lasted a minute or two and went away. I thought something was loose and took to repair shop. My catalytic converter was cracked & the mechanic said it was in a place he had never seen before. Very high up. He tried to go through GM but my issue isn’t the same as any other that had been reported. My car only has 53,536 miles on it and I bought it new in October of 2019. I maintain consistent maintenance on it at the same repair shop. There is a recall on this car about emissions and possibly affecting the catalytic converter. If I do not fall into that recall so be it but maybe I am not the only person reporting this issue. I just want to have it on record in case it ever does become a recall.

The contact discovered the discrepancy when he tried to trade in the vehicle and the dealer ran the Carfax. The mileage was listed on Carfax back on August 14, 2025.

ODI #11734489STEERING,POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Our 2019 traverse transmission around 130,000 miles started shuddering when slowly accelerating or driving. Not sure what causes this but I do know that it should be doing this as well as getting the Shift to Park message. I looked online and found that it's supposed to be the torque converter. I then contacted a transmission repair specialist and he stated that changing the fluid may make it worse or make it possibly fail altogether. Then I found a video about Shudder Fix and I added one of those packets to the transmission and it stopped the shudder but it now seems to be trying to creep back. This is a known issue with most people not being able to afford the $9000+ repair costs. The Shift to park issue is another issue that shouldn't be happening and the dealership will charge an arm and a leg for the repairs on this as well. Pressing the gear shift button about 5 to 10 times after shifting to park is a short term solution because that issue is tied to a spring action underneath the shifter to tell the car I'm in park. I found a bypass piece that is required to resolve the issue but I shouldn't have to do that to get this vehicle to work properly. Chevy needs to do a recall on this or they run the risk of having a bunch of them on the market where we all got rid of them and won't buy anymore Chevrolet vehicles. This is the second newer model vehicle I had from them. The first one was an Impala and the dealership didn't know why the screen would go black and cause the car to start hesitating horribly. So I left it with the dealership, they can have it back.

Vehicle: 2019 Chevrolet Traverse Issue: “Shift to Park” warning – vehicle fails to recognize it is in Park I am filing a complaint regarding a persistent &dangerous defect with my 2019 Chevrolet Traverse involving the “Shift to Park” warning system. For the past several years, my vehicle has repeatedly failed to recognize that it is in Park, even when it clearly is. This issue has escalated into a serious safety and reliability concern. Most recently, I was stranded in a store parking lot for over two hours because my vehicle would not properly shut off or restart due to the false “Shift to Park” warning. I had to call someone to disconnect the battery to prevent it from draining completely, which caused additional cost and inconvenience. After reconnecting the battery, the vehicle still would not start for another 2hours. This defect leaves me at risk of being stranded at any time, including in unsafe or isolated. As a single parent of 4 young children, this creates a significant safety concern for my family. This problem has been ongoing since Oct 2023 and has occurred repeatedly since then, and consistently every month since then, often four or more times per month. I have brought this issue to a Chevrolet dealership, Reed-Lallier Chevrolet in Fayetteville, NC, multiple times. Despite being charged diagnostic fees, no permanent fix has been provided. This is a known issue with this vehicle model related to a faulty shifter assembly or park detection system. This defect impacts the vehicle’s ability to shut off, restart, & function reliably, creating a serious safety hazard. I am requesting that this issue be formally investigated & that appropriate action be taken to require a recall or manufacturer-covered repair. This problem is widespread among similar vehicles & should not continue to leave drivers stranded or at risk. Mileage: 44,410 miles Dates of occurrences: Oct 2023-present Dealer contacted: Reed-Lallier Chevrolet on Raeford rd Fayetteville NC

To the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, I am submitting this letter as a **formal safety complaint** regarding repeated transmission failure in my **2019 Chevrolet Traverse**, which poses a potential risk to vehicle safety. In **December 2024**, while the vehicle was still covered under General Motors’ factory powertrain warranty, an authorized GM dealership diagnosed a serious transmission defect. Due to parts being on national backorder, the repair was delayed. When the repair was eventually performed, only partial components (torque converter and valve body) were replaced rather than the full transmission. Despite this repair, the transmission **failed again less than one year later**. In **November 2025**, a second authorized GM dealership confirmed that the transmission now requires **full replacement** and that the prior repair did not correct the underlying defect. The transmission failure has resulted in **slipping, hesitation, and loss of proper power delivery**, which creates a **potential safety hazard**, particularly during acceleration, merging, and highway driving. A loss of propulsion or delayed response in traffic significantly increases the risk of an accident. This issue was identified while the vehicle was under warranty and was not properly resolved. The repeat failure suggests a **systemic defect** rather than normal wear. General Motors has declined further assistance. I am requesting that NHTSA review this complaint as part of its monitoring of potential **powertrain defects** affecting vehicle safety. Vehicle Information: * Make/Model: 2019 Chevrolet Traverse * Manufacturer: General Motors * Component: Transmission / Powertrain Thank you for your attention

The transmission just went out while I was on the highway and abruptly begin reducing speed and I was unable to accelerate. This could have caused an accident on the highway due to me not having control to accelerate and vehicle de-accelerated without warning. Also the passenger seat belt stop working and would not click. The dealer told me this is a common issue and after review of hundreds of complaints it appears it is. It is out of warranty by a year. Apparently the issue is likely the torque converter. However GM, requires I do a transmission flush and reprogram followed by driving 500 miles. If it does not work then I have to replace the torque converter. The transmission flush is $980 dollars and a torque converter is quoted at $3,400. If this is a known issue and no fault of the driver it should be covered by GM. Why would I pay 1,000 dollars to then pay another 3,400 for a total of $4,400 dollars for a repair for a car with 27k miles. I feel like this should be a recall based on the number of complaints and cost to buyer. This seems ridiculous. I have agreed that the initial 980 dollars as I have no choice. I have been experiencing an intermittent issue where the vehicle displays a “Shift to Park” message, even though the gear shift lever is clearly in the Park position. When this happens, the vehicle will not fully shut off, and I have to repeatedly move the shifter back and forth or restart the vehicle to clear the message. This issue began around January 2024, and it has become more frequent over time. I understand that this is a known defect in GM vehicles, and that GM issued Technical Service Bulletin #19-NA-206 to address it. According to the TSB and owner reports, this problem is caused by a faulty park switch or microswitch inside the shifter assembly, and the solution involves installing a jumper harness and/or replacing the shift control assembly. This is both a functional and safety concern, as the vehicle may not recognize it's in Park and could potentially result in a failure to turn off or secure properly. I’m requesting that General Motors or an authorized dealer perform the recommended repair per TSB #19-NA-206 at no cost, as this is a widely reported manufacturing defect. Please advise how this issue can be resolved as soon as possible. I am attempting at uploading a photo and a video. The system does not allow videos and it is rejecting the photo.

On [XXX], my 2019 Chevrolet Traverse (VIN [XXX] ) experienced a complete transmission failure. The vehicle began to hesitate, jerk during acceleration, and then completely lost the ability to shift or drive. It had to be towed, and the dealership confirmed that the transmission must be replaced. This is extremely concerning because GM previously issued Recall 20V668000 involving missing bolts in the start-stop accumulator of the transmission, which can cause fluid leaks and loss of propulsion—a potential safety hazard. Although my VIN does not show this recall as active, the symptoms and failure seem directly related to this known defect. I am requesting NHTSA investigate whether this recall should be expanded or reopened to include more affected vehicles. In addition to the transmission failure, I have had to replace the purge solenoid valve three times due to persistent check engine lights and fuel system issues, which suggests deeper reliability issues with emissions and vapor management. Lastly, there is now a hole in the exhaust pipe, which is affecting performance and may pose a safety or environmental concern due to potential carbon monoxide exposure. These multiple powertrain and emissions-related failures within the same vehicle raise serious concerns about the long-term safety, reliability, and manufacturing quality of the 2019 Chevrolet Traverse. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate this model year and VIN range further. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The dealership has confirmed this is an ongoing inssue with the Traverse, and Chevy Customer service also confirmed on the phone that this is a weel known issue and she was not sure why they did not recall or take care of this issue already. Official problem is "Internal Failure to Shifter/Solenoid Assembly". This has caused issues 3 times and our vehicle is not even at 90K miles. On this 3 row SUV, the middle row has a bench seat vs captain seats in some models. In order to let passengers in the 3rd row, you must lean the middle row end seats up. When doing this from the left side of the vehicle, the middle seat in the middle row's seatbelt buckle falls back a little. So then when you lean the seat back after leaning it forward to let passengers in the 3rd row, the buckle gets caught up and over time, internal mechanisms inside the buckle break to where you can not fasten the seatbelt into the buckle any more. The shift to park constantly appears when you go to park the vehicle only to be resolved with shaking the stick and clicking the button to get it to park fully. Additionally this car has had to have the alternator replaced after only 4 years of having it which I find to be ridiculous and have heard many other customers have had the same issue of it failing early on I think there must be something deeper to that.

One time I just "jiggled" the shifter and the messaged disappeared. The message did not appear whenever I turned off the vehicle, only sometimes. However, it appeared more often than not. It did appear when the service representative at the dealer moved the vehicle and turned it off. The remedy was to replace an SL-N-Switch (04054-CT) and a N-Harness (02480-CT). The cost to remove the shifter and installed these parts was $360.26. The service representative advised me that this problem could run down the battery. At 37368 miles my 2019 Traverse had a message Shift to Park. This message does not throw a code so there is no record of the message. When the Shift to Park happened, the car has a beeping sound and even though the car is showing on the shift control it is in park, the car appears to believe it isn't. The dealership repair was to replace the switch in the shift control and added the jumper harness. The cost was covered under warranty. The problem stopped. Now at 69424 miles the Shift to Park message came back on again. When I put the car in park it appears to be in park but the car is beeping reminding me to shift it to park. I started the car, put the car into Drive with the car running, put my foot on the brake and then the red parking brake light came on the dash. The car would not move forward although it was in drive and I had never put the parking brake on. I immediately put the car back in park, leaving it running I pulled the parking brake up and down on the console it did remove the parking brake red command from the dash. I put the car back in drive and it did move forward so I could pull it in garage. The next day I took the car to the dealership. The car did not show the Shift to Park message at the dealership and the mechanic could not get the car to give him the Shift to Park message (even though the day before it was consistently giving me the message on the dash including the red parking brake light.) The dealership replaced the switch harness in the transmission shift control. The replacement part is the same that was installed at 37368 miles. This part is a Genuine GM Part since I have the box and the old switch that I requested. I had to pay $209.91 for the repair that I thought was taken care of at 37368 miles. The vehicle is equipped with auto stop technology that the driver can’t disable. While driving, the system is designed to initiate auto stop when vehicle comes to a stop. When my foot lifts off the brake to proceed, the engine kicks back in and vehicle moves forward. Two weeks ago at a stop, the engine did not kick back in. I had to put the car in park at the light and after several attempts to push the ignition button, the engine finally kicked back on. The vehicle had the same issue later that day so I scheduled with the dealer for 4 days out. No warning lights came on. My onstar app did not produce any error notice. Meanwhile, I saw a video to override auto stop, put vehicle in low gear 6. That’s what I did to get through to appointment. By day 3 (dealer is day 4), I returned to vehicle after an hour meeting and it didn’t start at all. The check engine light turned on, NOT the battery light. Had vehicle towed to dealer who said the only alert was a bad battery. (Battery is 16 mo with 36 mo warranty & alternator 5 mo old). I replaced the battery. Picked up vehicle from dealer and 5 miles away at a stop, vehicle shut off. I put vehicle in park, pushed ignition button and engine turned back on. I thought it was a fluke. 6 days later the vehicle turned off at stops on four separate occasions. Each time the battery was fully charged. On one last instance at an intersection stop, the vehicle shut off, would not restart when I pushed the ignition button, brake pedal became stiff, and dash lights and radio were completely off, as if the battery died. I let the vehicle sit at the intersection for 30 seconds before trying the ignition button, and it finally fired up. To get home, I put it in neutral at each stop to keep it from going into auto stop. This issue is not generating an “error” on the computer so dealer techs have no idea what to do. When I bypass auto stop by shifting to neutral at stops or driving in L6, there is no issue whatsoever with the vehicle.

The sound become worst over time, and I had to take the car to the dealer on 2022, after inspection the technician told me that both rear toe links were bad and need a replacement. He told me this is very serious safety issue. It cost me around $400 dollar; this is not acceptable from a brand new vehicle. The Dealer told me this a normal issue known for this model and other models. After 6 months, the sound come back and I took it again to the dealer, same issue they did find; both rear toe links were going bad again. less than a year the same part go bad. The shift to park error message has been appearing on my Chevy Traverse. It first started to appear 3 months ago. I've always been able to get rid of the error by moving the shifter harder and wiggling it a little. But, one day last week when I came home and started to park my car, the shift to park error once again appeared. I have tried the trick that I have done in the past numerous times, but this time around it won't work. I called my Chevy dealership and made an appointment that same day since I can't even get out of my car since it will not let me turn off the vehicle. Even though I only have 22, 500 miles on my vehicle, but since my car is a 2019, it's no longer covered by the warranty, so I had to pay $740.00 to get my vehicle repaired. I researched online and found out that there has been a lot of cases like mine and there has been some class action lawsuit against Chevy. Chevrolet should issue a recall on all the models that has this same problem. Apparently they've known about this problem for years. If I have known that they have this issue, I would not have purchased my car.

Our Traverse shows a message “shift to park”. This happens after we have already shifted in park. This causes a continuous ding until we are able to trick the vehicle into park. The after concern is we leave the vehicle because we can’t get it to shift to park and it rolls damaging property or another person. This problem has left us stranded because we can not shift it.

“shift to park” alert on the dash constantly comes on when you are actually parked. You then must re-start the car and put it into park again. You must do this up to TEN times to park without this signal going on. Within the last week, this has happened each and every time I have had my vehicle out. Over the last few months it has happened intermittently. Dealer says they are seeing a lot of this on my make and model when I took my car in this morning. This seems to be a VERY common problem in internet forums as to my make and model. THIS SHOULD BE A CLEAR RECALL. I can attach the invoice once the repairs are made today.

I had this same issue 2 years ago and the dealership fixed the issue. This issue has come up again and this time I had to pay almost $500 for the fix. Dealer says this may occur again and next time will be an $800 fix. This is not a normal wear and tear issue this is a manufacture defect and should be covered by the manufacturer.

On September 29, I took my 2019 Traverse to the dealer for its annual state inspection for Virginia at Radley Chevrolet in Fredericksburg. The dealer failed the car due to needing a rear toe link replacement. The dealer told me that this is common in the 2019 Traverse and are replacing quite a few of them. The cost for the repair is going to be about $600. It only has 41,500 miles and has been a very dependable vehicle. What concerns me is that reading other online forums, many owners are lamenting the same thing being told that this is common amongst the Traverse, yet there are no recalls on it. There are a few other GM models that have a recall for the rear suspension, but I don't understand why the Traverse isn't one of them. I am asking for a review of this to see how many toe links have been repaired on the Traverse, specifically among 2019 models, compared to how many have been sold. if a recall is decided to be implemented, it would save a lot of people the hassle of being blindsided or at least thinking they are being scammed by the dealer. If there will be a recall, I would then seek reimbursement from GM as this should have been done long ago and just replaced on all vehicles, not just when it's being taken in for an inspection. Thank you very much. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Listed on a Chevy website as a recall for 2018-2019 Traverse “shift to park”. It isn’t listed on your website or with the dealership. Over 170 complaints for the car not recognizing that you put it in park, which can drain the battery or worse cause your vehicle to move when it shouldn’t. I just paid $100 (luckily I had coverage), but this should be recalled. Dealership stated the part was on back order, which means a lot of people are having the same issue. This should be recalled and money refunded to customers.

There are apparently 2 holes in my exhaust from the front exhaust pipe issue. The mounting bracket on the front exhaust pipe separated from the pipe, a hole developed because of this. This is a 2019 traverse, 54,000 miles. Should not have exhaust pipe issues. I took it in the dealer, they said they can fix part of this under warranty but the other part of this fix cost $1,600. I've had this car 1 year and again it's a 2019. Curious why GM would only cover part of this fix and make us pay for the other part. This was ALL caused by the same issue, confirmed by the dealer. GM is looking to see if they can assist in paying for this but I would like to still report this because people should not have to pay out of pocket for a terrible design flaw. And is this going to happen again? will it be covered?

After one shifts the car in park and stops engine, a display warning and beeping sound starts stating "shift to park". Even though car is already in park. The beeping sound and message does not go away or quits. One cannot exit vehicle. Incorrect error and display messages and audio warnings are misleading and can lead to unknown safety concerns... The problem is repeatable and is occuring more frequently. The only way we have been able to "leave/stop" the car, is to repeatedly start car, shift into gear, shift into park and stop car engine. After 4 or 5 times, the car finally stops with no incorrect safety warning and beeping, and we can exit the car. Sometimes we have to drive a short distance to clear up this safety concern/issue.

I just had the vehicle inspected and was shocked to find out that the rear trailing arms links or toe links failed inspection. Both the right and left side in the rear failed inspection. This was also causing the vehicle to be out of alignment. From these failed parts could've also caused a potential accident. The vehicle is only 4 years old and it has less than 40,000 miles on it. I believe these rear suspension parts failing this early is unacceptable. I also heard from my local dealership that this is a common problem among a couple models as well.

Both rear toe links and alignment. Vehicle has had a slight clicking or clinking sound coming from back. (Very quiet). During high speeds, such as highway use, vehicle appears to move back and forth more than expected while driving, and feels like its "rough running" as if something on suspension system is working harder at a higher speed. Dealer said this can cause excessive swaying of vehicle at higher speeds and therefore can cause accidents at these high speeds, especially on a highway road system. History: Bought pre-owned vehicle back in June 2022. Within 6 weeks, took into dealer FIRST time to have diagnosed amd repaired (both rear toe links and alignment). Dealer did replace the toe links, and stated vehicle was required to have a 4-wheel alignment after replacing, but that we as the owners were liable for cost of alignment. Extended warranty said that alignment should have been covered, dealer again said "No, wasn't part of the warranty or repair". I confirmed that it was absolutely necessary to perform this alignment. 12 months later, we took vehicle into dealer again for same sounds (soft or quiet clinking in back of vehicle) who stated both rear toe links are loose (again) and vehicle is required to have a 4-wheel alignment. Our warranty will again cover the rear toe links, but NOT THE alignment. Per the labor guide that the dealer uses for repairs and per our warranty, if a 4 wheel alignment is REQUIRED in order to replace the rear toe links, the alignment is supposed to be covered under warranty. DEALER is stating No. Both dealer and warranty company have access to the same Labor Guide information. This is a problem, and we heard from one other Chevy traverse owner that they had the same repeating issue. Why isn't there a recall for this?? Owners shouldn't have to pay for constant repair of the same issue if this is occuring, even multiple times on a yearly basis. It's expensive, several hundred dollars alone.

The car was checked by a Chevy dealer and it was found that there was a bad purge valve creating this issue. This had previously been recalled on earlier model year Traverses, but not for 2019. It appears this is still an issue for this model year and should be addressed.

The issue is that after driving the vehicle when it is shifted into park the transmission fails to recognize that it is in park and sends a message to the screen to shift into park. About one month ago, I began receiving a "Shift to Park" message in error when powering off my car and in park. There is no way to override the message, during which the car remains on and there is a loud beeping noise. I have to power the car back on and manipulate the sensors to make the "Shift to Park" message go away - and this doesn't always work or takes several times. In addition to the obvious concern, I'm also concerned about my car's battery every time this happens. I have young children and am afraid to drive my car right now because of this issue. We bought out our lease in May and our Warranty expired about three months ago and Chevy is refusing to fix the defected part. Chevy is aware of this problem in older and other 2019 vehicles, they have yet to recall the 2019 Traverse. On June 12, 2022, after stopping for gas, my car did not want to start back up. I put my foot on the brake and pushed the start/stop button, but the engine struggled to come on. It did a similar thing a week before, but on that time when I pushed the button to start the car, all of my lights came on and my radio, but my air conditioner delayed in coming on. When I put the car in drive to go, nothing happened and I realized the engine never started. I pushed the start/stop button again and everything shut off and then back on and I was able to drive. For almost a year now, I have had issues with the auto stop feature when I'm at a stop light/sign. When I try to take off again, it delays on letting me move. This is also when my car will jerk or jolt as I start to drive. I took it to the dealership to look at the problem and was told there may be something with the fuel system. All they did was flush the system, but the problem didn't stop. I am seeing reports online of similar things happening to other 2019 Traverse owners. This concerns me because what happens when my car decides not to start again and I'm in a busy area? What happens when my family is with me and it doesn't want to go or it shuts off at a stop sign or light and we're in crash? My complaint is in regard to the climate control system on my 2019 Chevy Traverse. I chatted with Will of the Chevrolet Customer Service Center on October 10, 2021. The problem is that the system will not keep the windshield clear of fog in certain weather conditions. During the chat, Will said that he couldn't do anything unless I had taken the car to the dealer. I believed it is a design flaw, because my son owns the same model and year of Traverse and has the same complaint. (I have previously owned 2009 and 2012 Traverses and did not experience this problem.) The next time I took the car to my dealer for service 12/14/2021, I told the service dept about the problem. According to the service request: "All functions working as designed at this time." The service manager told me that this is a common complaint. He suggested using the "Max Defrost" button (which bombs the driver with air), turning on the AC to take the humidity out of the air, and turning up the temperature. We have had this fogging happen at many times. but is not something that can be replicated, because it is dependent on the weather. The time I complained in October 2021 was particularly scary, because I was bringing my husband home from surgery late at night from Montefiore Hospital in Pittsburgh. The hospital is about 2 hours from our home and is not a trip we make on a regular basis. It happened on Friday, May 6, 2022 again, when my husband was going to Monroeville, PA for a check-up with the vascular surgeon. It was one of those "all day rains" and the temperature was in the 52-58 degree range. I think we both had a stiff neck the next day after having the Max Defrost blasting all the way to Pittsburgh and back.

After doing some research, this seems to be a common issue with various 2016-2020 Chevrolet vehicles. I am hopeful that this will be covered under my vehicle warranty from the dealer, but we should not have to hassle with that if GM is well aware of the issue in many vehicles. A recall should be issued and GM should cover to replace and repair back to proper working order. When many people spend a year's salary or more on a brand new vehicle and it doesn't even last them two years, that is not right. I only have 24,000 miles on my vehicle and this should not be an issue I am having to deal with right now. GM needs to step up and take care of this issue immediately.

The shifter assembly is not recognizing that I in fact do not have it in gear and the car is in Park. The error does not go away until I re-start the car, put it in gear, shift back to park, wait a few seconds, and then shut the car off again.

ODI #11436253UNKNOWN OR OTHER

I get a “shift to park” message after I have turned my car off even though it is in park. The warning does not shut off so I have to remain in my car and turn the car on/off and switch it into gear and out of gear in an attempt to get the warning to stop. At times, I have had to leave the parking spot and drive around more then park again to get the warning to stop. My car is three years old. This should NOT be happening on a three year old car. My car not recognizing what gear it’s in certainly isn’t safe.

The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that upon placing the vehicle into PARK, the shift to park warning message would appear on the instrument panel. Due to the failure, the contact had to readjust the gear shifter or restart the vehicle to correct the failure; however, those options do not correct the failure every time. The dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was given an estimate for the repair. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and informed her that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

I kept getting a shift to park error. The dealership diagnosed it as a problem with the gear shift wiring harness. It was a few thousand miles passed warranty so I had to pay about $300 out of pocket for it. It's been less than 2 weeks since it was "fixed" and I am now having the same issue.

Intermittent "Action Required" alert on the display to "Shift to Park" after already shifting into park and turning off the car. Sometimes after jiggling the gearshift it will stop. Sometimes have to turn the car back on and shift into reverse and park again. Sometimes have to do this several times. Appears, after research online, this is a known issue under TSB 19-NA-206, September 2019. I have scheduled to take to the dealership for inspection. But it also sounds like the recommended repair is only a band-aid that will require a further repair.

The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that after slowing down and coming to a stop, the START/STOP function activated however, the vehicle failed to restart. The contact had the vehicle towed to the dealer who diagnosed that either the starter or 350 Amp Fuse had failed and needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that the bearings were also loose and needed to be tightened. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 22,200.

On Thursday 9/9/21, I found my car's alarm going off while parked in a parking lot. I was able to silence the alarm and enter the vehicle and turn it on. As I was driving toward the exit of the parking lot the windshield wipers went on, on their own and I was unable to turn them off. Then I lost control of my steering, several warnings and alerts went off on the dashboard and the car powered off in the middle of the road without any warning. Shortly after was able to turn the car on again and reverse and get it into a spot in the parking lot where again I lost steering, several alerts came on the dashboard and the car powered down again. I had my two young children in the car and we could have been hit, if this occurred on a highway this could have been deadly! I was able to start the car again, drove it around the parking lot safely for a few minutes and then the incident occurred a third time in the exit lane of the parking lot. We called for a tow truck. The car would not turn on again for several hours. When it did turn on it was moved to a safe location where it powered off spontaneously a 4th time. When the car was picked up by the tow truck the following morning the car alarm was going off again and the doors were locking and unlocking spontaneously on their own. Onstar sent a diagnostic report indicating an issue with the Engine and Transmission System. The vehicle was towed to Millenium Chevrolet in Hempstead. They were not able to check the car until Monday 9/13/21. They replaced the battery, but were unable to identify the source of the problem. After the battery was replaced, we were alerted that the horn was not working and the doors were locking and unlocking spontaneously.

When car is put into park and I turn off the car with the push button, I get a message of “shift to park”. The car is in park but the car doesn’t think it’s in park and won’t fully shut down. Warning chimes continue. Tapping the shifter control forward to the radio seems to kick it back in and the car shuts down with no more warning chimes. Looked this up online and there are numerous people complaining about this and it happening to them. Sounds like the whole shifter assembly needs replacing. It doesn’t matter if I’m close to home or a thousand miles away, what happens when I can’t tap the shifter to get it to shut down completely? Safety and mechanical issue that has to be addressed and fixed. Thank you.

Car began to not shift to park when attempting to park. Dealer said it was a common problem and it is a huge safety issue as if the car is not engaging in park it could be in an unsafe condition on an incline and begin to roll. There maybe other issues I'm not even aware of but I feel gm should recall this defect if it especially a known issue among many vehicles.

ODI #11430528UNKNOWN OR OTHER

After shifting my 2019 Chevrolet Traverse into park, an “Action Required” message appears on the dash that says, “Shift to Park”. But, the car is already in park. Due to this action required message the car will not properly shut off.The only way I am able to shut the car off is by restarting it and shifting into reverse or drive, back to park. Sometimes it takes up to six times of going through this process to get the car to shut off. This issue has been going on for over a month. I arrived at the dealership for a scheduled oil change and the car did the same as I parked in their garage. I had a tech come out to see what was going on. He told me that Chevrolet was aware that this was happening in at least 4 models, including my Traverse. He immediately knew what the fix was. It was explained to me that there was a bulletin, but not a recall for this issue. The dealership said they could fix it for $140, and because I was 7,000 out of my bumper to bumper I had no choice but to pay the amount. If Chevrolet knows this is an issue then they should be covering the cost to repair it. It is bulletin #19-NA-206. They installed a SL-N-Switch and an N-Harness. They also removed transmission range selector and removed and replaced wiring harness on the selector to a newer design, that’s supposed to stop the issue.

My 2019 Chevy Traverse was purchased new in August of 2018. It has approx 34,500 miles on it as of 7/26/21. Tire size: 255/55 R 20 107H. The vehicle has been in for regular maintenance/service at the original dealership since it was purchased. Around March 2021, I noticed the outside tread on all 4 tires becoming brittle and breaking off. There are small chunks of the tread missing and some type of thread showing where the chunks have come off. I went to my local Costco and the associate in the tire department told me that I should not be driving on it because the tires could blow. I wanted a second opinion and went to my local Discount Tire. The associate told me that what was happening was called "chunking" and it was not common (actually rare to happen) and I should call Continental Tire. No alarms/warning lamps have gone off due to this issue.

ODI #11424312POWER TRAIN

When placing the car in park, a "shift into park" warning appears on the dashboard even though the vehicle is actually in park. The problem appears to be a shift relay that is not making contact with the metal tab that depresses the sensor telling the computer the vehicle is in fact in park. Not thinking the car is in park can cause a driver to panic the car is going to roll into another car, fixed object or another person. This problem has been confirmed multiple times and there is currently a GM bulletin out on the problem. The fix is to replace the entire shift assembly at the owner's cost - $500. The only warning message received is '"shift into park".

TO THIS DATE THEY HAVE NOT FIGURED OUT WHAT IS CAUSING IT, BUT IT CAUSES THE BRAKE SYSTEM TO LOSE POWER MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO BRAKE. WE WERE TOLD BY THE DEALER JUST TO KEEP DRIVING IT UNTIL THEY FIGURE OUT WHAT IS GOING ON.

ODI #11254266STEERING

WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL, THERE IS A LOW WHINING SOUND. THE DEALER SAYS THIS IS "NORMAL". THE STEERING COLUMN SHOULD NOT MAKE ANY NOISE. NOISES COMING FROM A STEERING COLUMN USUALLY INDICATE TROUBLE.

ODI #11254269VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

WHILE TRYING TO PRESS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, IT HANGS UP MID-TRAVEL. APPLYING ADDITIONAL PRESSURE CAUSES THE PEDAL TO TRAVEL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. THE DEALER SAYS THIS IS "NORMAL". ACCELERATOR PEDAL TRAVEL SHOULD BE SMOOTH AND LINEAR; ANYTHING ELSE IS UNACCEPTABLE. JUST ASK TOYOTA.

ODI #11254271STRUCTURE1 INJURY

THE EDGE OF THE SECONDARY HOOD LATCH HAND RELEASE LEVER IS VERY SHARP. I CUT MY FINGER TRYING TO FIND THE LEAVER TO OPEN THE HOOD. THIS PART SHOULD HAVE SMOOTH EDGES TO PREVENT INJURY.

ON JUNE 20, 2019, I BOUGHT A 2019 CHEVY TRAVERSE WITH THE UNDERSTANDING THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN GOOD CONDITION WITH NO DEFECTS. ON JULY THE 18 WE TOOK VEHICLE TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT, DUE TO THERE WAS A VERY STRONG ODOR WHEN INSIDE THE CAR. IT WAS CAUSING BLOODY NOSES AND BREATHING ISSUES FOR MY FAMILY. THE SMELL WAS SO STRONG THAT IT COULD BE TASTED. THE DEALERSHIP TOOK ABOUT 15 TO 20 MINUTES TO DIAGNOSE CAR AS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. WE TOOK IT HOME. ON AUGUST 1, 2019, THE VEHICLE STARTS GOING CRAZY WITH ELECTRICAL ISSUES. WHILE MY WIFE IS DRIVING WITH MY KIDS THE HORN, LIGHTS, AND EMERGENCY LIGHTS START TURNING ON AND OFF AND THERE WAS A LOUD UGLY SOUND FROM THE ENGINE. THE CAR HAD TO BE PARKED TO AND I HAD TO GO DRIVE CAR HOME DUE THE UNSAFE CONDITIONS OF VEHICLE. AS I LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD, I COULD SMELL A BURNING SMELL AND SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. SO WE TOOK VEHICLE BACK TO DEALERSHIP. AFTER BEING ON THE SHOP FOR ABOUT A WEEK , WE GOT OUR CAR BACK AND ACCORDING TO DEALERSHIP IT WAS FIXED, ALONG WITH THE SMELL THEY TOLD US IT WAS A RARE SITUATION BUT THAT WE HAD MOLD AND MILDEW COMING OUT OF THE AC UNIT WHICH WAS CAUSING THE ODOR AND HENCE BLOODY NOSE AND BREATHING ISSUES. THEY ALSO FOUND THAT THE BATTERY WAS THROWING SPARKS AND WAS BURNING ELECTRICAL WIRES IN THE ENGINE. AT THIS POINT WE JUST WANTED OUR CAR BACK. THE FOLLOWING DAY MY WIFE AND KIDS WERE PUT IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION DUE TO DEFECTIVE CAR, WHILE DRIVING THE TRAVERSE IT TURNED OFF ON THEM WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY. MY WIFE AND KIDS ARE TRAUMATIZED AND SCARED WHILE BEING PUT IN THESE DANGEROUS SITUATIONS. UNFORTUNATELY, YOUR VEHICLE HAS NOT PERFORMED WELL AND IS NOT SAFE EVEN AFTER IT WAS MADE CLEAR TO US THAT IT WAS SAFE AND FIXED.

ON JULY 11, 2019, WHILE OPERATING THIS VEHICLE, AN ERROR MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD WHICH STATED, 'POWER STEERING MALFUNCTION.' AT THE TIME OF THIS ERROR MESSAGE, POWER STEERING HAD FAILED AND MANEUVERING OF THE VEHICLE BECAME DIFFICULT. DURING THIS INCIDENT, THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A HIGHWAY. VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO A CHEVY DEALER AND THE RACK AND PINION WAS REPLACED DUE TO AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE.

ODI #11234006UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE

I WAS DRIVING VEHICLE AND STOPPED AT LIGHT. THE CAR COMPLETELY CUT OFF. I HAD TO PUT IN PARK TO RESTART THE CAR. THATS WHEN THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. RECEIVED AN ADVANCED DIAGNOSIS THAT STATED ISSUE WITH ENGINE/TRANMISSION SERVICE WITHIN ONE DAY. TOOK CAR IN 7/16 AT 7:30 AND GOT BACK THAT DAY STATING THAT CAR TRANSMISSION COMMUNICATION DROPPED. THE VERY NEXT DAY 7/17 AM, SAME THING HAPPENED. TOOK THE CAR THAT AFTERNOON BACK TO DEALER AND IT HAD BEEN THERE SINCE. THEY STATE THEY ARE WAITING TALK TO GMC. NOTHING YET.

ODI #11229844STRUCTURE

ALL 4 DOORS HAVE BECOME MISS ALIGNED 2 WEEKS AFTER PURCHASING, TRAVERSE IS A NEW CAR NOT PREOWNED. THERE'S A RUBBING NOISE THAT COMES FROM ALL DOORS WHILE DRIVING ESPECIALLY WHEN CAR TURNS LEFT OR RIGHT AT AN ANGLE. AS DAYS PASS THE RUBBING NOISE FROM THE DOORS HAS INCREASED AND CAN BE HEARD WHILE MAKING A STOP AND WHEN DRIVING STRAIGHT.

ODI #11228561SERVICE BRAKES

THERE ARE CONTINUOUS DEFECTS AND CONCERN FOR SAFETY REGARDING MY 2019 CHEVY TRAVERSE. I PURCHASED A NEW 2019 TRAVERSE REDLINE ON MARCH 22, 2019 AND THE PROBLEMS BEGAN WITHIN TWO WEEKS AND LESS THAN 400 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. I WAS DRIVING MY NEW VEHICLE ON A RESIDENTIAL ROAD AND BEGAN TO SLOWLY PRESS THE BRAKE WHILE APPROACHING A STOP SIGN WHEN THE 'SERVICE BRAKE ASSIST' ALERT APPEARED, THE BRAKES MADE A GRINDING AND CLICKING NOISE WHILE SHAKING AND FELT LIKE THE BRAKE PEDAL NEEDED TO BE PUSHED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR TO STOP. I BROUGHT THE CAR IN AND THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT REPLACED A VACUUM BOOSTER SENSOR WHICH THEY SAID WAS FAULTY. THEN TWO MONTHS LATER, WITH ONLY 1800 MILES ON THE VEHICLE, THE SAME ISSUE OCCURRED AGAIN WHERE THE 'SERVICE BRAKE ASSIST' ALERT APPEARED, THE BRAKES MADE THE SAME NOISES AND SHAKING. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO BRING IT IN FOR SERVICE. DURING THIS SECOND OCCURRENCE, THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SUGGESTED IT MUST HAVE BEEN A 'BAD BATCH' OF PARTS AND OFFERED TO REPLACE THE SENSOR AGAIN. I RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP TO PICK UP MY VEHICLE AND DURING THE LESS THAN TWO MILE DRIVE HOME, THE SAME ISSUE OCCURRED FOR THE THIRD TIME. I IMMEDIATELY RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN AND THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS CAUSING THE PROBLEM. AFTER REPLACING THE SAME PART FOR A THIRD TIME, THE SAME ISSUE OCCURRED AGAIN. ULTIMATELY, THE SERVICE TECHNICIANS & ENGINEER ARE UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE ROOT CAUSE OF THE ISSUE AND MERELY SUGGESTED REPLACING THE SAME PART FOR THE FOURTH TIME. WHILE THE SERVICE MANAGER HAS OFFERED TO CONTINUALLY REPLACE THE SAME PARTS, THEY ALSO ARE UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE ROOT CAUSE AND STATED I NEED TO CONTINUE DRIVING THE VEHICLE UNTIL IT HAPPENS AGAIN AND PERHAPS THERE WILL BE A NEW PART UPDATED IN THE FUTURE.

ODI #11221121VEHICLE SPEED CONTROLCRASH

MY VEHICLE HAS THE FUEL ECONOMY SHUTDOWN SYSTEM AND IT'S NOT WORKING. IT USED TO SHOT DOWN WHILE ON A STOP AND THEN RESTART WHENEVER THE BREAKS WERE NOT ENGAGED NOW IT'S NOT DOING ANYTHING. THE AUTO STOP DOESN'T WORK IT'S STAYS ON A HIGH IDLE AT ALL TIMES

ODI #11191492ENGINE

WHEN BRAKING TO DO A U-TURN AND NOT STOPPING THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF AND DOESN'T COME BACK ON RIGHT AWAY. AND IT ALMOST CAUSED ME TO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT FROM A CAR FROM THE OTHER DIRECTION. WE HAD THIS CAR FOR 3 MONTHS AND IT'S HAPPENED ABOUT FIVE TIMES NOW.

Chart Analysis

The blue line shows 406 total NHTSA complaints filed over 8 years, with the worst year being 2025 (86 complaints, including 2 crash reports).

The amber reliability line is declining — recent years score around 78/100, lower than earlier in the vehicle's life. This pattern indicates issues are accumulating over time rather than being resolved, which is a concern for used buyers.

The recall (red dashed line) followed the first complaints by 2 years — a typical response window; neither unusually fast nor a pattern of denial.

Red dots on the amber line flag 7 years (2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2024, 2025, 2026) where complaints included crash events — these are the highest-severity incidents in the dataset.

COVERAGE:10 years / 150,000 miles from original sale date

Active Fuel Management (AFM) lifters on 5.3L EcoTec3 and 6.2L V8 engines collapse prematurely, causing a metallic ticking noise, oil consumption, and potential engine damage. GM issued Special Coverage #N202338470 and related programs for affected vehicles.

HOW TO CLAIM: Visit any authorized Chevrolet, GMC, Buick, or Cadillac dealer. Provide your VIN — the dealer will confirm coverage via GM's warranty system. Repair includes lifter replacement and sometimes oil consumption correction.

Coverage eligibility depends on your VIN, original sale date, and current mileage. Always verify with an authorized dealer or manufacturer customer service — programs may have been updated since this database was compiled.
