Year/Make/Model: 2022 Jeep Gladiator RESPONDENT DEALERSHIP DETAILS Business Name: Lake Norman Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Physical Address: 20320 Chartown Dr, Cornelius, NC 28031 On July 17, 2026, the vehicle referenced above was presented to Lake Norman Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram for the express purpose of executing the mandatory remedy under NHTSA Campaign 26V363 (Mopar 21D). This recall governs an electrical defect within the Electric Hydraulic Power Steering Pump (EHPSP) connector that creates an imminent risk of spontaneous vehicle fire while the vehicle is parked and the ignition is in the "OFF" position. The service department performed a cursory visual inspection and asserted that the vehicle "passed," thereby refusing to perform a physical component replacement. Recognizing the progressive nature of high-resistance electrical defects and the severity of the fire hazard, I explicitly requested a physical hardware replacement of the connector harness. The dealership management flatly refused to order the necessary manufacturer remedy parts or execute the component installation. IV. LEGAL VIOLATION AND REQUEST FOR INVESTIGATION Under federal law, 49 U.S.C. Chapter 301 and specific National Highway Traffic Safety Administration mandates, authorized franchise dealerships are legally obligated to remedy safety defects without charge and to the full satisfaction of eliminating the risk. A simple visual evaluation fails to alter the underlying manufacturing deviation or secure the long-term safety of the vehicle.By refusing to provide the physical component remedy, Lake Norman Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram is in direct violation of its statutory recall obligations. I request that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration initiate an immediate investigation into this dealership's non-compliance, compel the submission of all service records for this visit, and enforce my federal right to a complete physical hardware remedy to mitigate this safety risk.

What happened: Driving on road, check engine light and traction control light appeared, smelled metallic-type odor, pulled over, before I could put it in park smoke started pouring from under the hood on passenger side. Unable to extinguish due to ball of flames hitting me as I opened hood. Burned it to the ground. Which component: I'm assuming it was the electric hydraulic power steering pump (EHPSP) wiring. The fire was on the passenger side. The vehicle is available for inspection in a tow lot near [XXX]. Safety: It caught fire on a small dirt road in the country. I was the only occupant and I was uninjured. There was nobody on the road at the time. Thankfully the woods got rain recently or it would have caused a massive forest fire. Problem reproduced: No Inspection: No one has inspected the car yet. Warning: There was no other warning other than described above and the truck was behaving perfectly normal. Other: The vehicle was taken to Tri-Lakes Ford in [XXX] to replace the high pressure fuel pump (another recall). They told me they didn't have the parts to fix the steering yet, so I planned on coming back when they did. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

ODI #11736720EXTERIOR LIGHTING

The third brake light is not working on my 2022 Gladiator. It was working, but shortly after purchase it stopped working. This seems to be quite the issue as I have seen many Gladiators of all years with the third brake lights not working. This is a safety issue and will not pass inspection if not working. Since there are so many years of Gladiators with inoperable third brake lights it shows that the manufacturer has not addressed the issue. They then turn around and charge up to 100 per light replacement. Unacceptable! This is a government mandated item for vehicles, and as a mandated item it should work more than a couple of years. This is the first vehicle I have ever owned that has issues with the third LED brake light. If the government does not help correct this situation the manufacturer will never correct the situation, and replacement third brake lights will fail within a short period of time leading owners to pay for a part that fails continuously. I have read about many owners simply replacing the light with another Jeep third brake light and not reporting it, only to have it happen again later. Please do something about this highway robbery.

When filling gas tank and letting the pump stop on it’s own, Tank gets full, pump clicks off, fuel pushes back out of the fuel filler and I end up with fuel spill on my car and the ground. I worry that fuel spilling and any source of ignition equals a posible fire hazard. Jeep dealership replaced the fuel filler neck but the issue continues. After one repair attempted , I took the car back to dealership two other times for the same concern. 2nd time they say unable to replicate and the 3rd time did not perform any repairs. I had an issue while I was driving my 2022 Jeep Mojave as I was accelerating to join traffic on the highway, and merging to the left. I suddenly lost my power steering capability. I no longer had power steering throughout my entire drive at Highway speed however once I encountered traffic on the highway and I slowed down to approximate 20-30 mph suddenly my power steering returned. This was extremely dangerous and thankfully my kids weren’t driving when it happened. Jeep doesn’t have any fix but this should absolutely be a recall! This car only has 20k miles on it and has never been mistreated in any way. All over the forums and also YouTube are stories of people having this exact issue. While my vehicle was still under factory warranty, a mechanical issue was diagnosed by the dealership and a replacement part was ordered. The part was placed on backorder, and I was advised I would be contacted once it arrived. I was never notified when the part became available. By the time I was contacted weeks later, the warranty period had expired. I immediately scheduled service once I learned the part was available. During the repair visit, I was informed that the prolonged delay resulted in additional damage, including components related to braking and sealing. These components are available for inspection and were identified by the servicing dealership. Brake system involvement raises safety concerns, as reduced braking effectiveness can increase stopping distance and risk to occupants and others. The condition was confirmed by dealership technicians during service. The issue was not caused by misuse and occurred due to a delayed repair that originated under warranty but could not be completed due to parts unavailability and lack of notification. The vehicle remains under dealer inspection and repair. Warning symptoms were present prior to service, and the condition was confirmed by the dealership upon inspection.

Safety Complaint: Suspension Failure Following Major Axle Rebuild In June 2025, my Jeep Gladiator underwent an invasive rear differential rebuild under TSB 03-002-24 at AutoNation. At that time, a certified Multi-Point Inspection (MPI) marked all suspension components and fluids as "Green/Safe." On February 5, 2026, a Shop Foreman at Gillman Jeep identified a catastrophic failure of the rear stabilizer links and leaking/bouncy front shocks, along with "diluted/failed" fluids. These safety-critical components went from "Certified Safe" to "Failed" in only 6 months/12,000 miles following the axle rebuild. The Safety Risk: The failed stabilizer links and shocks have compromised the vehicle's stability and handling. This is a documented Workmanship Failure (likely due to improper torque at ride height/bushing bind during the June TSB repair). The Manufacturer Response: Jeep Corporate Case Management (Case #95545827) is currently refusing to authorize safety repairs under the 24-Month Mopar National Warranty, citing internal dealership billing issues. They are intentionally obstructing the repair of a documented safety hazard and ignoring the contradictory safety inspections provided by two authorized dealerships.

ODI #11716570STEERING,SUSPENSION

While driving at highway speeds, my daughter experienced, without any prior symptom, a violent shaking of the vehicle in general, accompanied by violent shaking of the steering wheel, making the vehicle difficult to control. We have since discovered it is a known issue "popularly" known as the "Jeep Death Wobble". My daughter was startled and frightened by the extent of the shaking and nearly lost control of the vehicle while driving 6o+ miles per hour on a highway. She managed to pull off the side of the road and call me to come pick her up, unwilling to drive the vehicle any further. We currently live in Ohio; if we still lived in San Antonio, TX and she was driving on one of their raised overpasses, I fear what might have happened. I believed this to be an anomaly, but have now experienced this phenomenon on four out of five Jeep Wrangle/Gladiator vehicles within my own family, a failure rate of 80%. All occurred prior to 36,000 miles (but after three years). When I took the vehicle in for repair to the Jeep dealership, they modified my statement of the problem on official paperwork because, they said, if they mentioned "death wobble" on paperwork, they would have a team of engineers descend on their dealership (which they did not want). They also recommended a repair that did not fix the problem. As an engineer, I recognize this as likely a resonance design flaw. My fear is, based on this statement and my lived experience, this serious safety issue is being greatly under-reported. While some years/models have received recalls, not all have ... and Jeep appears complicit in addressing this safety issue across all vehicles exhibiting this frightening, potentially accident-inducing issue. I cannot understand why a recall does not cover all affected vehicles ... unless, as I mentioned, the issue is being under-reported by the company. Please investigate/address this issue before someone dies. I honestly believe I came close to losing one of my daughters that day.

I suspect there is a design flaw with the gas tank. Everytime I put gas in the vehicle, and I go to multiple gas stations, the automatic shut off on the gas pump will stop pumping gas when the tank is full but the aperture to my gas tank regurgitates a great deal of gas onto the ground. Even when pumping at the slowest speed, I manage to spill 4 plus ounces of gas onto my car and the ground. This happens every time, and I doubt I am the only person this happens to. I have never had this issue with my other automobiles. This occurs every time I get gas.

It happened last week when I was passing a car, I shut the jeep off and the problem went away until today when I was passing a car. When traveling around 35-40 mph and a bump or dip in the road (think manhole cover) is hit by either the left or right wheel an extreme wobble and vibration in the steering column occurs. This will last 5-15 seconds until it works itself out. Research on the internet indicates that this is a common problem called a “death wobble”. The concern is that this may cause loss of control resulting in crash. This is an unmodified jeep gladiator bought new at the dealership with all mopar parts. When speaking to the dealership they do not acknowledge that this is an known problem and state that they cannot reproduce the issue. Which is reproducible as I have done it. Since this is a widely reported issue on the internet I believe this to be a severe safety issue that needs to be fixed by jeep. I do have video of one of the many incidents and can provide upon request.

On 10/15/2025, I left work and started my 2022 Jeep Gladiator. The Instrument Control Panel was blank. I researched to see if it was something I could do. I checked the F15 and F41 fuses and all connections to the battery. During my research, I noticed there was a recall for this exact problem. I input my VIN to find out that my Gladiator was not involved. The EXACT same problem as the recall. Why not mine? I'm currently using my GPS to monitor my speed on my phone. I have no other warnings or information to know when I'm driving; being a HUGE SAFETY ISSUE!

My vehicle has just under 45,000. While driving at freeway speeds I hit a small bump in the road. The vehicle front end wobbled until I slowed back down under 50 mph. This happened 3 times on the same trip. I immediately took it in to a dealer for repair. It is known as a "Death Wobble". The problem was a steering damper had failed. There are other Jeep models that have the same designed front end and have active TSBS for this exact issue. When searching Jeep forums online it is widely considered a problem for the Jeep Gladiator.

I need to report an issue. After bringing my Jeep in for a minor muffler noise, the dealership contacted me and informed me that the vehicle would not start. They suggested it could be related to the diesel fuel, but they were unable to identify the exact cause. To rule this out, I contacted the city to have the fuel from the gas station tested, and no contamination was found. This was the same station where I had filled up the day before. Additionally, I had already driven the Jeep approximately 80 miles prior to leaving it at the dealership, which further indicates the fuel was not the issue. The dealership proceeded to drain about three-quarters of the diesel from the tank, emptied it completely, and replaced the bottom fuel lines. However, the problem persisted. They then replaced the fuel pump, but even after that, the issue continued. Eventually, they determined that the fuel pump itself was defective. Importantly, this is the same fuel pump that had already been replaced once before under recall. please let me know if you need evidence. I have all the email from city and more txt , etc.

Component Affected: Engine – Camshaft and Rocker Arms Summary of the Problem: My 2022 Jeep Gladiator experienced a failure of the camshaft and rocker arms due to scoring on the camshaft. This issue occurred at approximately 52,000 miles. The vehicle is currently inoperable (on and off flashing check engine light) Dealership gave me the vehicle back to drive while awating parts for repair. The required components are on national backorder with an estimated delay of over 4 weeks, leaving me without a functioning/safe vehicle. Safety Concern: This failure occurred without warning and could have led to a dangerous situation if it had happened while towing. I use this vehicle to tow a 3,500 lb camper, which is well within its rated towing capacity (6,500 lbs). The sudden loss of engine performance could pose a serious safety risk, especially on highways or in remote areas. Additional Notes: I am reporting this issue because I have learned that other Jeep Gladiator owners have experienced similar camshaft and rocker arm failures. This may indicate a broader defect in the engine design or materials. I believe this issue warrants investigation for potential recall or manufacturer accountability.

I am filing a safety complaint concerning my [Year] Jeep Gladiator (VIN: [Insert VIN]), which has experienced two high-pressure fuel pump (HPFP) failures—the latest occurring on [XXX]. This issue is directly related to the Jeep HPFP recall previously issued in 2023. After the first HPFP failure, the fuel system—including the pump, injectors, fuel lines, rails, filter, and tank—was replaced under warranty using Jeep’s reengineered HPFP component. The vehicle then sat at the dealership for five months awaiting parts and repair. Jeep also issued a compensation check, which I accepted based on the belief that the reengineered pump was a permanent fix. However, the same failure occurred again on [XXX], requiring a nearly identical replacement of the full fuel system. The recurrence of this failure, even after the “fix” Jeep implemented through the recall, raises serious concerns about the reliability and safety of the reengineered HPFP. I am concerned this is a systemic design flaw that has not been resolved. To date, my vehicle has been out of service for extended periods, and these failures could result in engine stalling, fuel leakage, or loss of power, increasing the risk of a crash or injury. Jeep has not provided adequate assurance that the reengineered part will prevent future failures. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate whether the reengineered HPFP provided through the recall is effective and whether additional action is needed to protect consumers. Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

In the early afternoon hours of July 5, 2024, our 2022 jeep gladiator rubicon with only 18,000 miles spontaneously combusted in our driveway after being parked there for just under 24 hours. While working in the yard, my husband noticed thick black smoke coming from the engine. The smoke quickly turned into flames then rapidly intensified as it spread throughout the engine, cabin and then ultimately the entire jeep. The jeep was a total and complete loss with Jeep claiming no responsibility whatsoever. We have over $60,000 in damages to our home, driveway, landscaping and soil (PFAS) from the fire, NOT including the jeep itself. Note *The engine light did go on about a month prior to the fire, which from what we were told by Jeep service dept, was due to multiple misfires. This issue was resolved immediately. After the fire, the jeep was inspected by our insurance company and also by Jeep. Because the fire was so intense and quickly spread, there wasn’t anything left. Jeep never returned our calls and never once tried to make things right! Our safety was at risk for obvious reasons. The Jeep spontaneously started on fire due to no fault of our own. Had we not have been home, or had the Jeep been parked in our garage, facing the garage or the fire started at night while we were sleeping, the outcome would have been quite different. The damage it DID do to our property along with the mental anxiety and stress of trying to pay for repairs is significant enough without actually having our house burn down to the ground. The High-Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP) failed while I was entering a downhill curve on a paved but narrow mountain road with no shoulder. The HPFP had been under an active recall, (Y78 / NHTSA 21V-880) but every time we went in for service our Jeep dealership said a remedy was not yet available. When I asked if it was safe to drive, they said yes, continue to drive the vehicle and that they would call us when a remedy became available. Not very sage advice. The failure happened while we were on vacation in a remote area of New Mexico, four hours away from home. An unrecognizable warning light flashed but did not remain on. The engine remained running, but the HPFP failure caused a complete loss of power to the engine and transmission. Steering became difficult. I gently braked and coasted to a safe spot. Luckily that spot was a forest service road about a quarter of a mile from where the Jeep lost power. We had the vehicle towed to the nearest Jeep Dealership. They confirmed that the HPFP failed. Left for the day and as I started to drive began to smell gasoline. Looked for a gas trail and didn’t see it. Continued to drive and occasionally would smell gas. When I arrived at home, looked in the engine bay and it was dry. Looked underneath and saw that the passenger side undercarriage was dripping with gas. So much the fumes filled the garage and began to move into the house. Parked the vehicle on the street and contacted local dealership. Dealership via phone said only appt is approx more than 2 weeks out and couldn’t give an answer what would happen if the vehicle was brought in and or towed in. I explained the safety aspects of an active fuel leak and they still couldn’t find a way to make an appointment. The next morning a small plate sized leak of fuel as on the asphalt directly under passenger side (where fuel tank is). Vehicle hesitated when starting, when it finally did I looked for active fuel spilling and could not locate. I began to drive to dealership. At one one point when I stopped for a long red light the smell of fuel was overwhelming. Arrived at dealership where you could and smell gas. Went into office and again was told that with out an appointment that was over two weeks out nothing could be done. Again explained the safety aspect of an active fuel leak and was blankly looked at and then told the only appt is more than 2 weeks out. Finally asked for supervisor and they said that it could be left but wouldn’t be seen for 4-5 days. They rented me a vehicle and boldly stated that “if” the cause of the defect wasn’t done by aftermarket parts or vandalism then they would contact jeep to see if the vehicle could be repaired under warranty. This was stated several times. The vehicle is 2 years old and has approx 19000 miles on it. No aftermarket fuel or engine parts have been installed and there was no

I had contacted Jeep to complain about safety in regards to what I think is a defected airbag and they had asked me to send photos of my Jeep after the incident. And without asking how fast I was going and having everything based on the photo, Jeep states they will not do any further investigation because based on the photos the deceleration of my car during the incident was not enough to deploy the air bag. I tried to ask them multiple times to email me an explanation of how they determined that the airbag is not defected based on the photos I sent and have not gotten a response except that the case was closed. They refused to email an explanation and would only want to schedule a phone call to explain. I told them I rather have it email for documentation purposes. While driving in snowy conditions, snow built up in front of the headlights, blocking them. I had to stop multiple times to sweep the snow out from the socket the headlight is recessed into to get light to project onto thr road. These are the factory LED headlights, which do not produce enough heat to melt the snow, unlike halogen headlights. Not having lights while driving in the snow is scary, as is having to stop in poor conditions on the side of the road. The lights need to be heated or shielded in some way to prevent this from happening.

The vehicle is factory stock with 30,000 miles on it. At highway speeds it experiences what is referred to as the "Jeep Death Wobble" - the vehicle and steering wheel shake violently until I reduce speed to below 50 mph. It is difficult to control and slowing rapidly on the highway is additionally dangerous. It is at a Jeep dealer, but they only want to change the steering dampner. This part is not a real fix - something is loose or not property aligned to cause the shaking. The dampner is a temporary fix that addresses the symptom, not the cause of the shaking. I feel Jeep is not adequately addressing the issue or taking it seriously.

When driving in snowy conditions at night the LED headlights and driving lights do not put off enough heat to keep the headlights cleared of snow. This results in the snow packing in the headlight area disbursing light in every direction but straight ahead. The snow coming at you as you drive is thus lit up but there is not enough light emitted forward to light the road. Driving around 30 mph yields a light only a couple of feet in front of the vehicle. This creates a very dangerous condition.

Vehicle is 2 months old and has 3,704 and 3,839 miles at each incident. When driving about a mile from home, the power steering went out, beeps and every system shutting down one at at time. Wipers turned on and took many tries to both turn the truck on on off. The vehicle was immobile. and could neither be shut off or on without multiple tries After sitting waiting for a tow (dealer was only about 500 feet away) I retried and had enough power to get it to the dealer. They "fixed" it saying the shifter was loose. 2 weeks later, the same problem occurred and got stuck in my neighborhood. The vehicle could have been uncontrollable at higher speeds and shifter eventually locked wheels/gears when in motion, when trying to begin moving from a stopped position. There is a possibility of being stuck on railroad tracks or compromised with steering control on winding terrain or poor weather conditions. I was stuck in the middle of the road on both incidents and at risk for being struck by oncoming vehicles. No warning signs were initiated before the incident or during multiple immediately preceding driving trips. Notification of system problems was only made after the incident and power steering failure happened and as the driver manually brought the vehicle to a stop. The first incident of this was reported to the Jeep dealer, who inspected and reported as a loose shifter component and documented as repaired 2 weeks prior to the 2nd incident. I have video of the dash board waring signs after the vehicle was stopped. Other owners have posted the same issues and same recordings on social media. Vehicles reported on-line involve different Jeep models and years.

The side impact airbags did not deploy despite the impact being quite severe. The front airbags did deploy despite there being no impact to the front of the vehicle. Both the seat belts failing and the lack of side impact airbag deployment presents a safety hazard to the rear occupants of the vehicle in the event of a crash. The front airbags deploying without the requisite impact presents a safety hazard to front occupants of the vehicle. The seat belts still will not lock with any amount of pressure. The dealer will not discuss the issue and the insurance company, through a repair shop, currently has possession of the Jeep. There was no warning of any kind that the seat belts would not lock and the airbags would not deploy/deploy.
