Vehicle overheats while at a stop. Problem has been happening for past 8 months. Leaking antifreeze under transmission. Shop unable to diagnose problem after various attempts. Researched problem online and discovered many 2017 durango owners are having issue. Many saying it's due to manufacture problem. It's a safety issue for my family and I since I don't know what the problem is to fix it.

Runaway vehicle, police was called after car stopped and I was able to safely park it on the side of the freeway.also a police officer on motorcycle came the the scene to make sure I was able to get a towing scheduled. Dealership currently confirmed gas pedal accelerator needing to be replaced.

While driving the ABS light came on causing the abs lock to turn off increasing instability to cars performance.

The vehicle involved is a 2017 Dodge Durango. The primary systems malfunctioning include the engine cooling system, braking system, and electrical system. The engine repeatedly overheats while driving and has produced smoke from under the hood, creating a risk of breakdown or fire. The braking system is unreliable, with the brake pedal going down too far and not providing proper stopping power, increasing the risk of a crash. The vehicle is currently not reliable or safe to operate due to these ongoing safety defects.

I am submitting this complaint regarding a serious safety‑related failure involving the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) in my 2017 Dodge Durango. Although my vehicle is not included in the 2011–2013 recall window for Safety Notice R0 / NHTSA 14V‑115, it experienced the same dangerous malfunction described in that recall. The TIPM failed without warning and caused a catastrophic failure of the fuel pump. As a result, the vehicle would crank but would not start, leaving my wife stranded and requiring a tow to an automotive repair facility. The repair shop confirmed that the TIPM malfunction caused the fuel pump to fail internally and come apart inside the fuel tank. The TIPM installed in the vehicle is part number P68251629AC A, vendor code 16238DA, with an additional number of 16317G. The TIPM was not inspected anyone other than the repair facility and there were no warning lights or codes prior the failure. The quoted cost for parts and labor to correct this safety‑related defect is 2,100. FCA has refused to cover the repair because my vehicle falls outside the recall years, despite the failure matching the symptoms and safety risks identified in NHTSA Campaign 14V‑115. Given the severity of the failure, the safety risk posed to my family, and the clear similarity to the known TIPM defect, I am requesting NHTSA’s assistance in reviewing this incident, determining whether the recall should be expanded to include additional model years, and supporting my request for FCA to cover the full cost of repairs or reimburse me for the necessary corrective work. This failure created a hazardous situation and resulted in significant financial burden for a defect consistent with an already‑recognized safety issue. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate this matter and take appropriate action.

Approximately 3 years ago we noticed water accumulating in the rear light. They refer to it as a race track light bar. Went to dealer who said not covered under warranty, and it would be $1,455 to replace. I did not have the money at that time to replace it. So we kept draining the water, as I noticed the light getting dimmer. I charged the $1455 and replaced it. 1/8/23. I did find that there were numerous complaints. and this week I found water in the entire light had approximately 3 inches of water in it. We drained it and I contacted the dealer who advised that the 24 month warranty was up Jan 2026 (two months ago. I just found information that there is a class action lawsuit regarding this and since they determined ti is a safety issued there is a jury trial scheduled end of this year. and the manufacturer refused to repair or replace. I just took pictures and noticed a fair vertical crack. l am trying to included a picture but cant convert to jpeg. I am very concerned as the rear lights will dim and hopefully I dont get rear ended.

Race light tail lights went out. Water can get in around light . Known issue in class action lawsuit

Push start vehicle stalls 3 to 5 times. While driving the dash board flickers on and off. Navigation system screen blacks out radio turns on when I have it off. Reverse camera also glitches and works sometimes. The inside lights dim up and down. The passengers window goes down on its own.and has caused the rain to damage personal items of ours.

We have researched and noticed there was an open recall in the past with the PCM. We are now experiencing issues such as rough idling, poor fuel economy, stalling and poor acceleration.

I am filing a complaint regarding a known defect with the rear racetrack taillight assembly on the 2017 Dodge Durango GT. The rear racetrack taillight allows water and moisture to enter the sealed housing. Over time, this causes condensation buildup, corrosion, and partial or complete failure of the LED lighting. In my case, the racetrack light has gone out and shows visible water inside the assembly. This issue creates a safety concern because the rear lighting becomes dim or nonfunctional, reducing visibility to other drivers, especially at night or during rain. In some cases, the electrical issues may also affect other vehicle lighting or electrical components. This problem is widely reported by many Dodge Durango owners across multiple model years, yet the taillight assembly design has not been properly corrected. I bought my car with 50,000 miles. I didn’t even have 55,000 and my car started have electrical issues with the speedometer, my dashboard started glitching with all the lights including an A with exclamation mark. I took it to the Dodge dealership in Huntsville and said they couldn’t do anything about it since the recall seemed to be repair but they couldn’t clear the code. My truck has had the same issue with the recall. My car was never repaired from the recall. My vehicle is dangerous to drive on the freeway as I will get this code a! And the speed will automatically drop. I really need help as this recall was never resolved on my car

While driving; the vehicles dashboard, navigation system, entire vehicles light glitches as well as speed diminishes but doesn't completely shuts off only for seconds at a time causing the vehicle to continue accelerating while also pulling back like a chocking sensation as dashboard speed goes from 0mph to a lower speed vehicle was previously traviling at.

I had just parked my vehicle in my drive and turned it off. I opened my door then sat back in my seat to stretch my back, sitting straight up with my head against the headrest, before getting out. As soon as I leaned my head against the headrest it, for lack of better terms, exploded into the back of my head. It hit me with such force I was not sure what had happened as there was nobody around me that could’ve cause it. Sure enough there was no accident to cause it. I have had a headache and back pain for a week due to it.

The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle jerked and hesitated to respond, and the engine made an abnormal revving sound. No warning lights were illuminated. While driving, the Active Headrest Restraint deployed on the passenger side WITHOUT accident. It appears the plastic piece that holds the pin broke. Luckily there wasn't a passenger present but this could've done serious head injury. This also puts the driver at risk for the driver side could deploy randomly. There were no messages or warnings or any symptoms indicating to the failure.

Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2017 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that while attempting to add the vehicle to the insurance company policy, the Carfax history report showed a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 69,752; however, it was later discovered on the Carfax history report that the mileage was 153,000 on December 22, 2022.

Lower portions of rear tail light are failing due to water infiltration.

Cruise control will engage and disengage. The cruise light will flicker on screen. When pressed it will not engage or come on at all

When backing with trailer or and hitch usage the car will not allow the driver to turn off the parking assist “off” button its been a ongoing issue with many dodge vehicles and the dealer ships will say a update is needed and charge for it. How ever we dont know when its needed and get stuck in a parking lot tryna back up or in the middle of a street trying to back up a trailer. When you turn it off the button will turn it self back on and brake as if it is an emergency so your stuck with a trailer on the vehicle and cant park.

Bought a used 17 Dodge Durango from Audi Hunt Valley of autonation July of 2024 nothing but any problem misfires camshaft issue camshaft has been replaced twice now in less than a year and now it needs a new transmission. I purchased an extended warranty for engine and transmission. Now they are not covering it I spoke to somebody through corporate office. Put a complaint in. I also contacted Dodge. There’s also a claim with them as well. Nobody has reached out for the corporate office so I bought a vehicle that didn’t even last a year that needs a transmission. That’s not a reliable vehicle safety concern I have all documentation from repair shops that work has been done. I’ve also have been in contact with an attorney about this so something needs to be done ASAP before I file a lawsuit. I want a different vehicle or my money back.

Rear liftgate taillight assembly seal has failed allowing water to get in. As a result, the led lighting element has failed which dramatically reduces rear visibility by other vehicles.

I'm reporting the race track tailgate light on my 2017 durango has been taking in water from top of the light. I have been reading about a law suit against Dodge cause of this issue on 2014 thru 2023 dodge durango. So im putting my complaint in on my cause its doing the same thing. part of the lower left side on mine has shorted out due to the water leaking from the top of the race track light.

My race track tail lights and license plate lights just stopped working all together. This poses visibility issues of a safety concern for those approaching from behind me. No warnings or other symptoms/issues were present. No LED lights were burnt out prior to all of the lights not working all at once. They all were working in the morning when I left for work and then did not turn on when I left work that day. I checked the fuse which is fine. All other lights on the side of the quarter panels (ie. turn signals, reverse lights, tail lights) work and the brake light at the top of the lift gate works properly.

The driver’s side headrest deployed while I was driving. There was no warning and no impact. The headrest pushed my head forward, slamming into the back of it. This could have been a disaster, gigantic safety risk.

The rear lights on the tailgate on these vehicles continue to fail due to water inclusion. This affects night time visibility. I've noticed this trend on many Dodge Durango models spanning many different years. My vehicle had this occurrence with roughly 70,000 miles. Many vehicle owners have had much earlier failures.

My car started leaking oil I took it to a local mechanic and I was told that the oil filter housing needs to be replaced. He said that he sees that problem with thos vehicles he even sain that he is surprised that it has been recalled because apparently it breaks easily and it needs to be changed to a metal. Again he mentioned how he sees this problem often with this specific car.

Started the vehicle, my wife was in the passenger seat. The headrest exploded apart and hit her in the back of the head. It hit her pretty hard in the back of the head. She had a headache but no medical attention was needed. I'm hoping this does not happen to the drivers side while I am driving.

Bought a used 17 durangoGT on July 29th 2024 notice a crack in tail light and told the used car manager about it and brushed it off now there is an issue with racetrack light and water is getting in and is now half lite the dealer said there isn’t a problem so took it to dodge and had a 2nd option and they said it was the crack and on top of that there is a class action lawsuit against dodge for the track light and it can cause electrical issues and license plate light and rear camera issues this is unsafe and I got a invoice from dodge of the issue too

While parked, the front passenger headrest split apart. The active headrest appears to have broken or deployed. The vehicle was in park. No collision. Drive seat did not deploy. Reset of headrest doesn’t not seem possible. latches appear broke. No noise when this occurred. Back seat passenger witnessed the headrest randomly split open

We have had engine issues since the first couples months of having this car, the engine has been replaced 2 times, and now tipm and start/stop is having issues, this car needs to be recalled

Vehicle would not fill up with fuel. Took to dealership, dealership quoted $2700 to fix the issue. Issue was stated as fuel had entered the evap canister (somehow) and would need to be replaced and because this needed to be replaced the fuel tank needed to be replaced as well. 10 days later I received a bill for $2700 for a replaced tank and cannister with no real explanation as to why it happened. After reading on NHTSA, this seems to be a more than "random" occurrence with this vehicle and needs to be updated to a manufacture defect/recall. Customers should not be paying for a defect directly from the factory. Especially when said defect is costing customers $2000+. Additionally, with the exposed risk of gasoline spewing out of the fill nozzle on to owners, this poses a serious threat to health and safety of the environment and owners of these vehicles. Not to mention the fueling stations as well.

Engine cut off while driving down the interstate, traffic was moderate and thankfully made it to the side of the road. After about 20 min, the engine started. Seemed like a lack of fuel. Replaced the fuel pump and it ran fine for about a week and then while fueling it at the gas station, it wouldn't start again. After about 20 min, it started. While dropping the fuel tank, I noticed the connector that is located to the rear of the fuel tank on the passenger side and the main wire for the fuel pump was melted in the connector. It was evident that there was significant heat on that pin and I am in the process of repairing the wiring as well as the connector. This is a known issue in previous models, obviously it is not a issue for Chrysler to fix it until someone is killed in an accident.,

Lost power steering after I started vehicle after driving. It happens to remove power steering unavailable code after restarting vehicle several times and power steering returns. I believe it may be something with ABS as the ECU and EPS is all connected. If something is off then it goes into limp mode. ABS was resetted and worked fine and not needing to replace the entire electric power steering. All started when I had 88K miles. One time the steering wheel locked on me while I was driving over a bridge with snow and ice on ground.

On [XXX] 2024 my wife, son, and I were sitting at a stop light on [XXX] at approximately 16:40 hours when we heard a loud pop in the vehicle and my wife's head was pushed forward by the passenger side seat head rest, causing pain to my wife's head and neck, and shoulder muscles. Upon inspection of the head rest, it had become separated in the middle (pictures attached). Vehicle is equipped with the active head restraint system. My wife has not received medical attention yet but is quite sore this morning. We will contact our dealer to replace the head rest (and the driver's side head rest) and request the defective head rest be returned to us so it is available for NHTSA inspection. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance rep, or others yet. There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. This happened suddenly without any warning while we were stopped at a traffic light. Our safety was put at risk by the sudden failure and violent expansion to the head rest causing pain to my wife. Had this occurred on the driver's side while the vehicle was in motion, it could have caused a motor vehicle crash resulting in severe injury, property damage, or even death. Rear tail panel lights don’t work, water intrusion causing failure

The “race track light” on the rear hatch of the vehicle has allowed water to get in to the electrical LED components and has caused a portion of the light to fail. It seems to be a common failure and it creates a safety issue with visibility of the vehicle at night. In addition, the component to replace this light is very very expensive, with no hope that the new part will not fail in the same manner.

Just bought the vehicle two months ago and have had to replace multiple things on the vehicle. The first issue was the diming lights and passenger window rolling down while driving along with remote start not working got that fixed now the car wants to turn on when it feels like it. It could be working for two weeks straight then you go to turn the car on after just turning it off five minutes prior and it does not wanna work you mess with the wires, try to jumpstart the wires and unhook the passenger seat heat and adjuster then it starts..

The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided the contact with 2-star cases. The approximate failure mileage was 99,414.

The manufactured plastic oil housing unit cracked during negative temperatures on [XXX] in Webb City MO. I had a pool of oil under my car, and now my engine shakes during low idle. Water intrusion on Track Light started with small section becoming dim March 2023. Left license plate bulb/housing went out october 2023 with corrosion on plug. February 2024 entire hatch lighting out (track light + both license plate lights).

Car started leaking coolant underneath. The dealership told us the lines that control the rear heat are leaking. And it’s a major job. $ 3100.00 we were told. The coolant lines are back ordered and have had it for over 5 weeks and still not fixed. That is ridicules for a vehicle with only 74K…

Water has been collecting in the right hand side of my racetrack taillight on my 2017 Durango causing my entire strip to burn out completely. It seems as though debris and bugs have also made their way into the tail light as both are visible and trapped within the light assembly. The taillight flickers upon starting the car and then completely stops working. I attempted to dry the light out by removing it, getting all condensation and collected water out, sealing up the parts that were weeping and cleaning up the gaskets that had weak spots but the entire assembly seems to have totally failed. This car has had no rear end damage and nothing happened that would have compromised the unit to cause this issue.

On my 2017 Doge Durango RT the “Racetrack” light has failed and created a safety issue for my vehicle. The LED light on the hatch has failed from poor manufacturing and has allowed water it get into the light shorting out the whole taillight. This has not only made a running light not work while I’m driving, but has caused the license plate light and the rear backup camera to fail. This is an over 1000 dollar repair. I will replace it for the safety of my family and those who drive on the roads with me. I have seen many other dodge Durango of the same model years that have a similar problem. There is a large online community who report the same issue. I hope this issue has not caused an accident for anyone else.

The rear center tail light, “Racetrack light” has water in it and is defective now for the second time, this is a well known issue, but continues to fail. Dodge will not cover the repair even with a maximum care warranty, pushing a well documented issue back to the consumer.

The rear tail light(race track light) has lost its seal and water has protruded the sealed of the LED tail light causing disruption in the light functioning properly. I have taken my vehicle to the dealership, it does have an extended warranty from Mopar on the vehicle, but the dealership will not cover. The replacement cost of repairing the rear tail light. The dealership informed me that this was a reoccurring issue for Dodge Durango‘s. I am concerned that the tail light will completely fail, and I will be involved in an incident due to the driver behind me not being able to recognize my vehicle with the tail light not functioning properly..

Bought brand new in 2017 with regular car maintenance, this 2017 dodge durango starting having engine problems now with almost 100k miles on it. at first we had the check engine light on. It has smoke and misfire on cyl 3car didn't star. Mechanic repaired head on rt head on all related gaskets, replaced starter. Now, out of the sudden car starting leaking oil, took it to the mechanic and they said the engined must be replaced because a cylinder rod went through engine block. The car only has 103k miles, it always had regular and proper maintenance.

Vehicle was sitting, not driven and parked for a couple days, got into the car and the saw the front passenger headrest airbag had deployed. Vehicle has not been in an accident or been damaged.

Electric Power Steering failed at 3 years (2020) as of this date (6/2023) no repair parts (paid for years ago) can be had. Even junkyard parts are VIN-coded making them also useless.

I took my 2017 Durango RT AWD in for my steering rack locking up on me while driving and after being parked out in the cold for about 10 min. The two technicians working on it did there multi point inspection and stated that my CV boot had a slight tear and needed replacement as the gears had sediment but were not able to recreate my issue as no codes came out minus a message stating Steering Rack was hot and was limited. A few hrs later they called and said it was done and when I picked it up after paying over $1000 I was not able to leave parking lot because the steering was locked. The brought out the techs and tried to get some codes with no luck. I did even ask to see the old CV boot to see what happened and they told me that they could not show it to me because it was a core they had to swap out. Either way, they told me that the worst thing they did not want was that I needed a new rack and pinion and was looking upwards to $5000 with labor($2K for part alone). It took me about 20 min in their parking lot moving forward and backwards until it unlocked on me. Essentially, I made it home 45 min later fighting with steering which locked up on me while driving almost crashing into the bridge rails on certain occasions or other obstacles as I had to get to the median so I could turn the wheels back in order to warm them up or vehicle to warm up as I was driving in cold weather. When i got home i looked under the vehicle and noticed the passenger steering rack boot cover being really stiff. I waited an hour and cut open the boot and noticed water had accumulated and there was lack of grease. Purchased another dust cover boot for $50 and cleaned and lubricated the steering rack and lucky that has stopped my issue for a while but keeps locking the wheel momentarily.

With the electrical system, the vehicle's rear lighting allows for water intrusion and causing the lighting to short out. This issue costs between $1100-$2000 to fix and requires a whole new rear tail panel. For the visibility/wipers, when the driver attempts to clean the windshield using windshield wiper fluid the windshield wiper fluid line disconnects itself causing the driver to have to come to a stop and re-connect the line.

Water intrusion into the large tail light causing a short and corrosion that intermittently disables blinkers and running lights

My vehicle only has 112,008 miles on it and it suddenly/randomly blew a head gasket. I have been told to purchase a new engine. I get ALL my regular and routine maintenance done on time. This has to have been a bad engine that was in my vehicle originally.

Shifter knob moves freely without having foot on brake so the shifter doesn’t lock into a gear. Message appears on dash “Service Shifter”.

This is now the 2nd time the racetrack light that houses the rear taillight assembly has allowed water to gain entry into the electrical system. Causes the lights to corrupt and short out. FCA refuses to acknowledge this issue. This is a problem not just with my vehicle but there are 100's of these reported on the internet. Including a pending class action lawsuit because FCA refuses to acknowledge the issue. We need someone with higher authority to hold FCA accountable and issue a recall with a permanent fix! Please help me and all the other owners!!!!

While I was merging onto the freeway with my daughter, I accelerated to a speed of 60 mph and it felt like my transmission dropped. My car was revving at 5k rpm’s and would not allow me to go any faster than 45 mph. Luckily no accident occurred as I was able to safely get my child and myself off the freeway. I now have a service appointment scheduled with dodge to see why this happened. But after ready these other complaints, I now see this is a potential recall! Hopefully my warranty covers this repair…

Water in tail lights. Complete failure of marker lights

While driving, the transmission gave out. There was no prior indication of any issue - no warning light and no different noise. The car wouldn't change gears, which was an extremely dangerous situation in traffic. This transmission is "supposed" to be so good that there isn't a way to even check the transmission oil - there is no dipstick. Dodge claims that the oil doesn't need to be checked, it is that good. Howerver, after the failure and having it towed to the dealer, the report was that the transmission was was black! How is a consumer supposed to be able to check a basic, required fluid with no dipstick? There isn't a way to have any preventative check on the transmission, yet it just fails without warning? There are at least two design flaws that compromise safety - no way to check the transmission oil, and the transmission completely going out without so much as an engine light coming on first. I purchased the car new, and it only has 70,000 miles on it - a transmission should not have black fluid and go out with that little use.

Apparent defect in racetrack light. Water gets into the racetrack light and causes it to burn out. This will cause the racetrack light to not fully light up when braking. Multiple people have almost rearended me. Did some research and other owners have reported an electrical smell or possible burning smell. Defect was confirmed with car dealership that water is getting into the racetrack light. Sometimes its part of light sometimes its the full light. Unable to pass inspection in NYS without light being completely lit up so this needs to be recalled as it is a safety issue and should be fixed by Dodge.

The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that while driving the vehicle, the rear brake lights failed to illuminate. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the rear brake light bulbs had failed due to water and condensation inside the rear taillight assembly housings. The light bulbs were replaced, and the failure was temporarily fixed; however, the failure reoccurred. The contact stated that the rear taillight assembly housings had been replaced on two previous occasions for the same failure. Additionally, the rear back-up camera malfunctioned and no image was displayed. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 60,000. The contact stated that the rear brake lights were replaced for a second time but the problem still persists.

The car shut off while in drive. I was at a stop sign behind another car. They pulled away, I went to pull up and the car shut off. It started back up after being turned off and restarted.

The contact was informed that a circuit chip was burned due to contact with an unknown fluid. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The oil cooler/ filter housing leaked causing oil to pool on the motor and leak from the vehicle. It’s apparently a common problem with this engine. It’s said that if the oil leak wasn’t noticed at first the engine would’ve seized. Definitely a defect on the manufacturers end.

The sunroof spontaneously exploded and shattered all over while driving on the highway at approximately 65 miles an hour. Mother and child were in the vehicle. The sunroof was opened on "vent" position. The sunroof cover was also opened (cover inside the vehicle) Mother and child sustained minor physical injuries however, this could have been a major much bigger accident with many other vehicles on the road involved.

Rear Tracklights has water intrusion. This is a safety hazard and should be a recall asap

All of my lights on the back of my vehicle are out due to water damage. This is a known problem with these vehicles. The vehicle has less than 50,000 miles. The cost for a replacement is $1500. Dodge has known of this issue for many years has done nothing to correct it. It will not pass the state safety inspection with the lights out. It is a safety issue because I have no rear lights. We contacted Dodge. They told us if this becomes a recall, they will reimburse us for repairs. This has been an issue for many years and they have neglected to repair the problem. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

The whole back panel of tail, break, blinker, licenses plate lights do not work. The seal does not perform properly and causes water to build up in the lights and fries them. It causes the vehicle to be unsafe when driving due to no lights working. No warnings were given at all just completely quit working.

The electrical power steering failed making it nearly impossible to steer.

Passenger Seat Headrest deploys

Driving down the road around 35mph and front passenger active headrest deployed out of nowhere. Luckily my daught wasn't taller than what she is or it would have impact the backnof her head.

When driving on the freeway I went to accelerate the car then begin to accelerate by itself even when I was hitting the brakes it would not slow down. Finally after a few seconds it slowed down. About a week after that started feeling like the transmission was having issues. Now I cannot drive my car. And this happened about three times with the acceleration of the car doing that by itself.

Started car and got a C2217-00 code Electic power steering module internal. Electric Power Steering is disabled. The part is unavailable. Making the vehicle useless. Can't use a used part, the VIN is programmed into the unit, on starting you get a VIN mismatch error and the Electric Power Steering is again disabled.

Airbag warning light comes on and off when vehicle is moving or when vehicles is in park. It’ll take off at times but will re-appear randomly.

No lights on the dashboard were on but the radio/ climate control center screen was flashing. Shut screen off. Was involved in motor vehicle accident with front end collision. Police report and insurance notified. Air bags did not deploy. Approximate speed on impacted was 30mph. Two days prior the auto stop and start system was flashing on dashboard.

The car has a defect on the construction or installation of ridge coolant lines making them very susceptible to failure. Countless reports online of coolant leaks that were not easily recognizable and requires extensive maintenance to correct. My car will requires the transmission to be completely removed and drop to be able to fix a coolant leak.

I have taken it twice to the dealership. There is an issue with the rpm and i receive several light on my dash. The most dangerous is when I try to speed the RPM goes so high and it stops driving. They told me it had something to do with the recall but the recall has expired so now i have to fix it.

The rear “track light” which includes the camera within the assembly collects water from a failed seal. This causes lights and electrical components to be damaged and stop working. Drivers losing function in their brake/tail lights and cameras causes dangerous situations on the road. This is a common issue in the 14’-‘20 models.

Have had ongoing issues with the electrical system since I purchased this vehicle new yet the dealership continued telling me they couldn't find anything until now. My SUV is 5 years old and now all of a sudden needs a new wiring harness.

The suspension rod that lifts and holds the liftgate open snapped at the bolt and broke. The liftgate can only be opened and close manually now. It has fallen on my arm and caused bruises multiple times. I fear it can fall on my head or my children's. I haven't taken it to get repaired as I'm sure it will be costly and money is very tight. I only had this vehicle for 4 years when this happened and it has low mileage. I have read about other Durangos having this same issue.

Water leaking in the race light and now for the third time water is in there again and now the right side is burnt out!

There is a gap between the lift gate lamp and the frame of the vehicle allowing for water build up in the lighting causing for the brake lights to malfunction and go out at random times. Dealer wants to charge 1,500 to replace light but refuses to acknowledge that the issue is cause by the gap between the frame and the light. Constantly have to bleed out water from my brakes until they went out

The rear tailgate lights, which operate in conjunction with the tail lights, fills up with water over time. The water then shorts out the LED lights.

Water is able to leak into the rear hatch “racetrack” tail light by means of a faulty sealing system used on the tail Light across the back hatch. The water then grounds out the break and tail light function as well as numerous other electrical systems (in my case the radio and whole vehicle control system located in the dash). The seal on the light is a non serviceable item and the manufacturer claims the only fix is to replace the entire light at a cost in excess of $1,500.00. The gap in the seal is large enough for insects to enter the light as well, so not at all water tight as a external light should be.

When driving the vehicle there is loss of acceleration and doesn't go faster than 10 miles per hour while I was on the freeway. I had to pull over to a stop on a busy freeway with 4 children and myself a single mother. I was scared that I may be rear ended while on the freeway. I had it towed to the dealer and they said it was the transmission.

The vehicle was taken to another local dealer; Star Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (211-10 Jamaica Ave, Queens, NY 11428(844) 291-4802) who was also unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer contacted the owner and informed him a specialist would be looking at the vehicle; however, no further assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 80.

When shifting the vehicle it says “service shifter”. Once again I look up this issue on the web and hundreds of others are saying they have the same issue with jeeps and a variety of dodge vehicles.

The tail light on the tail gate accumulates water and causes the light to go out. This could cause the entire brake light to short and could result in a rear end collision. 85 percent of the Dodge Durangos I see have the same issue. This isn’t a wear and tear problem, the lights weren’t sealed properly from the factory. Attached are just a few photos demonstrating the problem. Dodge owes it to the consumer to have this recalled

The air bags light goes of and on and I got it fixed when I purchased the car and it is doing it again and air bags light is coming of and on and is always beeping saying its urgent the dealer won't look at I any more because they say it might be a recall

Back on Aug 24th, I brought in my 2017 Dodge Durango for what I suspected was a burnt out headlight bulb on the left side. Turned out, I needed a new ballast. Today, it's now my right side that needs a new ballast. I have looked over the complaints for this SUV and it is not an uncommon issue.

Vehicle was traveling around 60 moh.. Jumped curve and hit a tree. Air bags failed to deploy. Driver sustained multiple injuries including fractured pelvis, torn aeorta, hemothorax under ribcage, and several cuts, scrapes, and bruises requiring stitches.

The vehicle has a rear parking assist function. Via a Uconnect (touchscreen) system, the function can be enabled or disabled. The Uconnect system allows the operator to select whether the function will provide an audible warning or brake automatically if an object behind the vehicle is detected by any of 4 sensors installed in the rear bumper. The function can also be enabled or disabled via a physical button below the Uconnect system. I purchased the vehicle new and have owned the vehicle for 3 years. I have towed boats many times. Until recently, I was able to successfully use the touchscreen or physical button to disable the function when backing up with a trailer connected. Now I cannot disable the function or braking via either method. It appears to turn off for about 1 second before turning back on. I've tested in various conditions such as park/neutral, with/without a trailer, etc. to no avail. I thought I would try resetting software in the rear parking assist controller, so I disconnected both batteries and removed the proper fuse, but that didn't fix the issue. That got me worried because the failsafe should be that if the control system goes bad, the function should be disabled. I believe this to be true, because sometimes you need to back up to avoid collisions with irresponsible drivers, etc. If you are towing a trailer, you wouldn't be able to back up if the system failed. I understand about failsafe design from working on safety-critical aircraft computers. I reviewed the users manual and information online, and found that if connected to a trailer or exceeding 7 mph in reverse, the function should disengage. However, the function has NEVER, in 3 years, disengaged when towing a trailer, and I am unable to exceed 7 mph when towing due to the automatic braking. I tested this again by plugging a trailer into both factory-installed electrical receptacles provided with the tow package. I could not disable it. Other vehicle owners have the same issue.

Additionally, the license plate light was also inoperable. The contact was able to continue driving back to the residence. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer to be inspected. The contact was informed that there was a cost for a diagnostic test. The contact declined due to the cost. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 84,506.

The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that the headlights would turn off inadvertently after driving for 30 minutes. The contact was made aware of the headlight failure when she was pulled over by the police. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and diagnosed that the headlight assemblies were faulty, but only the light bulbs were replaced. The failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unavailable. The Vin was unavailable.

The climate control system is malfunctioning, and the windows will not roll down. The heat comes on full blast and cannot be turned down or off, and it is summertime. On a hot day the car cannot be driven more than a couple of miles because the interior becomes so hot that it becomes difficult to breathe and remain conscious with the heat on full blast and the windows up. The controls for the windows do not work. The controls for the heat do not work. The climate control system is connected to, or is controlled, by the Uconnect System, which also does not work. I cannot safely operate this vehicle for more than about 5 minutes on a hot day. The vehicle is available for inspection. The problem was reproduced by an auto dealer, who said that it is likely a problem in the electrical system and would take about 3 hours to diagnose. The vehicle was not inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. However, I called FCA. They told be to do a software update for the Uconnect System. I successfully updated the software, but it did not resolve the problem. There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. However, about three months ago the Uconnect System began malfunctioning by occasionally and intermittently rebooting – i.e., flashing on and off. After a couple of weeks, the rebooting occurred more frequently, and now it will work at all.

The rear center tail light, or track light, was poorly designed and it allows water to get trapped inside and sit, resulting in the lights burning out. This single light assembly consists of a brake light that is the width of the rear hatch, a backup camera, and reverse lights. The only way to fix this problem is to replace the entire light assembly which costs over $1,000. This is a very widespread problem with Dodge Durangos based on the vast number of complaints for this specific issue, and I am surprised that this is not a recall considering the number of complaints associated with this problem. As you can see from the picture that I have attached, the bottom lights on both sides no longer work because of the sitting water inside. I tried to get this problem fixed, being that it is a manufacturer defect, but Dodge is unwilling to help me because my 2017 Durango is just out of warranty. I would greatly appreciate help with this problem. Thank you

BOTH SECOND ROW SEAT BELTS FAILED. THE DEALER COMMENT IS THAT BOTH RETRACTORS BROKEN. THE SEAT BELTS FAILED WITHIN 3 YEARS, BUT OUTSIDE THE MILEAGE RESTRICTION FOR WARRANTY REPAIR. THE VEHICLE IS PREDOMINANTLY FOR BUSINESS TRAVEL, WITH LIMITED SECOND ROW PASSENGERS, AND AVERAGING 25K MILES PER YEAR. A DODGE CASE WAS OPENED ON MY BEHALF, BUT I WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND NO ACTION WILL BE TAKEN. THE PARTS ARE ROUGHLY $250, BUT LABOR TO INSTALL THEM IS SUBSTANTIALLY MORE, AS THE INTERIOR HAS TO BE DISASSEMBLED. IT IS UNREASONABLE FOR SEAT BELTS TO FAIL WITH 75,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE, AND UNDER 200 USES.

THE RACETRACK LIGHTS HAS WATER IN IT AND IT HAS FLASHED OFF AN ON. ONCE THE WATER WAS OUT IT CAME BACK ON

THE LEFT TURN SIGNAL AND THE BACK TRACK LIGHT GO OUT AT THE SAME TIME INTERMITTENTLY. MY CENTER TAIL LIGHT KNOWN AS THE RACE TRACK LIGHT HAD GOTTEN MOISTURE IN IT AND SOME OF THE LED LIGHTS WENT OUT. I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF TRYING TO FIND A SOLUTION AS TO WHY THIS HAPPENED AS MY VEHICLE IS NOT EVEN 4 YEARS OLD YET. THIS ISSUE STARTED NOVEMBER OF 2020. WELL FAST FORWARD TO 2-13-21 THE WHOLE CENTER PART HAS NOW COMPLETELY WENT OUT AND DOESNT WORK AT ALL. GEAR SHIFT WILL SHIFT FROM PARK TO DRIVE. VEHICLE WAS PARKED WHILE RUNNING AND SHIFTED TO DRIVE WITHOUT ANYONE IN THE VEHICLE. VEHICLE ALSO SHIFTED OUT OF GEAR WHILE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC SIGNAL. WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK. HAD TO SHUTOFF VEHICLE AND RESTART IT TO GET OUT OF PARK.

DRIVING CAR ON FREEWAY WHEN THE COMPUTER LOCKED UP SYSTEM OF AWD AND SENSORS. THE BACK TIRES WOULD NOT TURN AND CAR STARTED TO JERK AND SLOWED DOWN. THE DASH BOARD LIGHTED UP AND ALL SENSORS SAID OFF OFF OFF . THE MILEAGE SPEEDOMETER CHANGED TO KILOMETERS AND THE MAPPING SCREEN HAD THE CAR GOING IN A CIRCLE. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS STIFF AND CARS WHERE PASSING ME BY. THE CAR MADE A CLUNKING SOUND WHEN IT FIRST HAPPENED. I GOT SCARED TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT TO DO. I SLOWLY GOT OUT OF TRAFFIC AND OFF THE FREEWAY TO PARK THE CAR. HAD THE TOW PERSON COME AND WE HARD TIME GETTING IT TO STAY IN NEUTRAL. I HAD TO STAY IN THE CAR SO IT WOULD NOT SHUT OFF. WHEN GOT IT TO DEALERS FOR REPAIR THE REPAIR PLACE SAID THE COMPUTER MUST HAVE RESET ITSELF AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG?? I FEEL THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM? THIS SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO AS IT COULD BE LIFE THREATING WHEN DRIVING ALONG AND THE COMPUTER TAKES OVER LIKE THAT AND YOU HAVE NO CONTROL OF THE WHEELS. MY TOW PERSON SAW WHAT IT WAS DOING ALSO NOT JUST ME. SO I KNOW IT WAS HAPPENING. SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THAT COMPUTER SYSTEM WHERE IT JUST SHUTS DOWN LIKE THAT. THE REPLACE TAIL LIGHT ALSO HAS WATER POOLING IN THE BOTTOM PART OF THE LIGHT. THE DEALER WON'T REPLACE THIS ONE FOR FREE BECAUSE THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED.

THESE THINGS HAPPEN ON CITY STREETS AND THE HIGHWAY WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN-MOTION. ISSUES TYPICALLY TAKE PLACE WHEN THE TEMPERATURE IS BELOW 30-DEGREES FAHRENHEIT. THE NEW TRACK LIGHT HASN'T BEEN INSTALLED FOR 1 YEAR YET AND WATER HAS GOTTEN BACK INTO THE TAIL LIGHTS CAUSE SHORTAGES AND OUTAGES. THIS IS A HAZARD THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY DODGE

THE LIFT GATE BRAKE LIGHT GETS MOISTURE INSIDE DURING RAIN. THE WATER BUILDS UP AND BURNS OUT THE LED LIGHTS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. YOU NEED BRAKE LIGHTS.

1. MY FUEL TANK WILL NOT FILL UP ALL THE WAY AND WILL STOP AT EACH FILL UP. I HAVE TO MANUALLY KEEP TRYING TO PUMP THE FUEL. ALMOST ALWAYS I CAN NEVER FILL FULLY UP. I PREVIOUSLY REPORTED A FUELING PROBLEM WITH THIS CAPLESS FUEL SYSTEM. THIS IS TO UPDATE THE INFORMATION AND PROBLEM. FUEL STILL CAN'T BE PUT INTO THE TANK. THE RELIEVE VALVE OR SOMETHING IN THE SYSTEM FORCES THE GAS STATION FUEL PUMP TO CUT OFF EVERY FEW SECONDS. THE SOLUTION FROM THE DEALER AND ONE MECHANIC IS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE FUEL TANK AT $1500-$1600. IF YOU CAN'T PUT FUEL IN A VEHICLE THAT'S 3 YEARS OLD WITH 45K MILES, HOW CAN IT BE SAFE TO DRIVE? I BASICALLY HAVE TO STAND THERE FOR 10-15 MINUTES CLICKING THE FUEL PUMP OVER AND OVER WHILE HOLDING THE FUEL PUMP LEVER AT 1/3 ON. I NOW HAVE NO WAY TO KNOW IF THE TANK IS ACTUALLY FULL OR NOT OTHER THAN GUESSING BY HOW MANY GALLONS I THINK SHOULD BE GOING INTO THE TANK. THE CAPLESS (NO GAS CAP) FUEL SYSTEM WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO PUT FUEL IN THE VEHICLE. IT HAS SOME SORT OF CHECK VALVE THAT IS FAILING AND CAUSES THE FUEL PUMP TO SHUT OFF EVEN WHEN YOU ARE RUNNING ON EMPTY. IF YOU SEARCH THE INTERNET, THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME PROBLEM. IT STARTED AS AN OCCASIONAL PROBLEM WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS 2 YEARS OLD. NOW AT 3 YEARS OLD, THE ONLY WAY TO FILL IT, IS TO TURN THE GAS PUMP HANDLE UPSIDE DOWN WHICH CAN CAUSE GAS TO LEAK OUT ON THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND THE GROUND. EVEN THIS METHOD ONLY WORKS 60% OF THE TIME. IF YOU CAN'T PUT GAS IN THE VEHICLE, YOU ARE AT RISK OF RUNNING OUT OF GAS ON A BUSY INTERSTATE WHICH IS A MAJOR SAFETY PROBLEM.

PARKSENSE MODULE FAILED. VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 33,000 MILES. WHEN PARKSENSE BUTTON IS PRESSED IT CHIME ONCE.

THE DURANGO HAS LESS THAN 35,000 MILES AND DUE TO IT COMING FROM CANADA THERE IS NO FACTORY COVERAGE. SEEMS AFTER LITTLE RESEARCH IT IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND VERY COSTLY TO OWNERS. TO THE TUNE OF $1200 AND UP FOR DEALERSHIP REPLACEMENT AND LABOR. *TR

THE DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT WENT OUT. MY CAR WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY SO I TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE WHOLE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THE BALLEST WAS BAD WHICH CAUSED THE BULB TO BLOW. WITHIN TWO OR THREE WEEKS THE PASSENGER SIDE ONE WENT OUT AND WAS TOLD THE SAME THING. THE CAR WASN'T UNDER THE MANUFACTURE WARRANTY AT THAT POINT SO ENDED UP COSTING ME MONEY TO REPLACE IT. THIS IS CLEARLY A FAULT IN THE DESIGN BECAUSE THERE WAS ANOTHER CUSTOMER THERE THAT HAD THE VERY SAME ISSUE. BOTH LIGHTS WHEN YOU STARTED THE CAR THE LIGHT WOULD FLASH ON AND THEN AFTER STARTING TO DRIVE THE LIGHT WOULD THEN GO OUT. *TR

THE LIGHTS IN THE CAR ARE GOING OFF AND ON BY THEMSELVES, THE PASSENGER WINDOW GOES DOWN WITHOUT THE WINDOW BEING TOUCHED. AND THE CAR WILL TURN OFF WHEN IDLING IN THE PARK POSITION AND THE AUTOMATIC SHUT OFF IS NOT ON OR OFF.

LEAVING A FRIENDS HOUSE MY '17 DD WITH 32K MILES STALLED OUT WHILE I WAS IN A TURN LANE ON A BUSY STREET JUST AT AN INTERSECTION LEADING TO THE HIGHWAY. AFTER CALLING THE TOW TRUCK AND SITTING FOR ABOUT AN HOUR (SCARED I'D GET HIM BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC) I LOOKED IN THE MANUAL AND ONLINE TO SEE HOW TO MANUALLY ENGAGE THE NEUTRAL POSITION. AFTER A FEW FAILED ATTEMPTS I WAS ABLE TO ENGAGE IT AND MOVE IT SAFELY FROM THE STREET. TOW TRUCK ARRIVED AN HOUR LATER AND NOW NO BUTTONS WORKED. HE HAD TO USE THE MANUAL KEY TO UNLOCK DOORS AND THE DASH WAS LIGHTING UP WITH SEVERAL WARNINGS. GOING TOO FAST TO SEE OR DESCRIBE. APPT IS SCHEDULED FOR 5/28 PREVIOUSLY SCHEDULED BECAUSE TWO DAYS PRIOR TO THIS EVENT GAS GAUGE INDICATED ALMOST EMPTY. WENT TO FILL UP AND WAS ONLY ABLE TO FILL 7.7 GALLONS BEFORE GAS PUMP INDICATED THE CAR WAS FULL. AFTER I STOPPED PUMPING THE NEEDLE ONLY READ HALF A TANK BUT WOULD NOT LET ME CONTINUE TO FUEL AS IT INDICATED IT WAS ALREADY FULL. *TR

DRIVER SIDE HEAD LAMP REPEATEDLY FAILS AND BURNS OUT AFFECTION NIGHT TIME DRIVING VISIBILITY. WHEN EACH AND EVERY BULB IS REPLACED IT HAS BURNED TERMINALS CAUSING LIGHT BULB TO SHORT OUT. NOT ONLY IS THIS EXPENSIVE TO REPLACE EVERY 3 TO 4 WEEKS, IT IS UNSAFE TO OPERATE THE VEHICLE WITH LOW VISIBILITY AT NIGHT. IT ALSO, MAKES MY VEHICLE LESS VISIBLE TO ONCOMING DRIVERS. IN ADDITION, IT IS CAUSING UNDO DISTRESS BEING CONSTANTLY PULLED OVER BY LAW ENFORCEMENT AND BEING EITHER FINED OR WARNED FOR DRIVING ILLEGALLY WITH ONE HEAD LAMP I HAVE SEEN ON YOU TUBE AND OTHER OUTLETS ON LINE THAT THIS IS A TYPICAL PROBLEM FOR THIS MAKE AND MODEL OF VEHICLE.

WATER COLLECTED IN THE REAR LIGHT BAR HOUSING CAUSING THE LIGHTS ON EACH LOWER CORNER OF THE HOUSING TO BURN OUT.

VEHICLE HAS TRANSMISSION GEAR ISSUE OR SOFTWARE PROBLEM WHEN DOWNSHIFTING. CAR IS SUPPOSEDLY LEARNING TO DRIVING HABIT BUT TRANSMISSION SHIFTING JERKS ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU ARE DECREASING SPEED BEHIND CAR IN FRONT AND AS IT IS FULLY STOPPED AND ENGAGES INTO IDLE(1) IT JERKS HARSHLY TO POINT OF ALMOST HITTING CAR IN FRONT. EVEN WHEN PUTTING CAR INTO AUTOMATIC TO PADDLE SHIFTING MODE IT JERKS JUST TO ENGAGE THE GEAR. ECO MODE IS SPORADIC, SPORT MODE IS LESS, AND MANUAL PADDLE SHIFTING IS LEAST NOTICEABLE SINCE IT IS CONTROLLED BY USER. FURTHER, THERE WAS A DIAGNOSIS OF BURNT CONTACTS THAT WERE THE CULPRIT. IN REMOVING THE BULB, IT APPEARED TO BE NOT BURNT OUT, BUT THE CONTACT WAS BURNT. I REPLACED IT AND THE NEXT DAY IT FAILED TO WORK AGAIN. NOW IT AND THE OTHER ONE WORK INTERMITTENTLY. IN REMOVING THEM, I FIND THAT THE CONTACT IN THE RECEPTACLE IS ALSO BURNT. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A PREVALENT PROBLEM ON THIS VEHICLE MODEL (GIVEN THE INTERNET COMPLAINTS), AND THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. FURTHER, I AM REQUIRED (FOR SAFETY REASONS) TO HAVE FUNCTIONING TURN SIGNALS ON THIS VEHICLE. I CONTACTED THE DEALER AND THEY CLAIM THAT THERE ARE NO OUTSTANDING RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE. I NOTICED WATER GETTING INTO THE MIDDLE LED RACE TRACK LIGHTING. THE MIDDLE LED LIGHT IS ALREADY OUT BECAUSE OF THIS. I BELIEVE THE HOUSING IS A FACTORY DEFECT, MY TRUCK ONLY HAS 40,000 AND THIS IS ALREADY HAPPENING. EXTENDED WARRENTY WONT COVER THIS BECAUSE OF "CONDENSATION."

THIS DESCRIPTION OF THE INCIDENT HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY I GO TO THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE AND OPEN UP THE BACK HATCH. ONCE IT IS OPEN ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS I HAVE CUT MY UPPER ARM/FOREARM AT THE POINT WHERE THE REAR TAILLIGHTS ARE SEPARATED. I HAVE FELT THE AREA AND HAD FAMILY AND FRIENDS DO THE SAME. FOR THE PAST 2 WEEKS THE LIFT GATE WILL OPEN ON IT'S ON UNLESS DOORS ARE LOCKED. LATELY THE DOORS WILL UNLOCK OWN THEIR OWN AND THE LIFT GATE WILL OPEN IMMEDIATELY. TODAY THE HOOD AJAR ALERT IS ON MY DASH WHICH IS A SECURITY GUARD FOR THE REMOTE START.

I DOWNLOADED AND SUCCESSFULLY INSTALLED A RECOMMENDED SOFTWARE UPDATE TO MY 2017 DODGE DURANGO THIS PAST SUMMER. THIS OCCURRENCE HAPPENS WHEN STATIONARY, OR WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION.

WENT TO HEAD HOME FROM VACATION AND STOPPED AT A STORE WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING. VEHICLE ENGINE SPUTTERED THEN CUT OFF. TRIED TO START VEHICLE AND VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS TURNING OVER.HAD TO HAVE CAR TOWED 2 1/2 HOURS TO OUR DEALERSHIP. ONCE IN DEALERSHIP FOUND TIPM TO BE DEFECTIVE WHICH CAUSED THE FUEL PUMP TO BREAK. 16 DAYS LATER THE WATER PUMP FAILED. AT 28,000 MILES 3 MAJOR ENGINE PARTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED. NOT TO MENTION ALL THE OTHER FLAWS IN THIS VEHICLE. PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW ALSO WORKS INTERMITTENTLY. VEHICLE IS STILL IN SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOR THE SECOND TIME IN LESS THAN A MONTH.

ON MAY 3, MY WIFE DROVE TO A LOCAL BUSINESS, AND WHEN SHE RETURNED TO THE VEHICLE, IT WOULD NOT START. WHEN IT WOULD FINALLY START THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON, AND IT STAYED ON FOR TWO MORE CYCLES OF THE ENGINE. THIS HAPPENED ON TWO MORE OCCASIONS. OVER THE COURSE OF THE NEXT SEVERAL WEEKS THE SERVICE PERSONNEL HAVE DISCOVERED NUMEROUS LOOSE WIRING HARNESSES, THOUGH THEY STILL HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO COMPLETELY REMEDY THE ISSUES. DOESN'T MATTER WHAT THE LOCATION/DIRECTION OF THE NOZZLE IN THE TANK FILL VALVE AREA....YOU CANNOT FILL THE TANK. I'VE TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN 4 TIMES TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR AND I AM STILL UNABLE TO FILL THE TANK. THEY HAVE REPLACED THE FUEL NOZZLE, REPLACED THE GAS TANK, REPLACED THE FILTER & COMPLETELY DISASSEMBLED AND REASSEMBLED THE GAS TANK.

I HAVE A 2017 DURANGO, THE REAR SHOCK ARE BAD ON IT, THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 26500 ON IT. DODGE CURRENTLY HAS 200+ OF THESE SHOCKS ON BACK ORDER. WILD SHIELD WIPERS ARE NOT EFFECTIVE DURING HEAVY RAIN. STEERING WHEEL MAKES NOISE WHILE TURNING. BREAKS ARE NOT GOOD QUALITY.

COMPLAINT INVOLVING SHIFTING PROBLEMS. WHEN I GET IN MY CAR AND I PUT IN DRIVE THE LIGHT STARTS FLASHING AND MY VEHICLE DOES NOT MOVE. I HAVE TO PUT IN PARK TURN OFF THE VEHICLE AND TURN IT BACK ON AND DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN UNTIL IT FINALLY CATCHES THE GEARS AND LETS ME DRIVE OFF. I ALSO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WHEN I PUT THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE. THE LIGHT THAT FLASHES IS THE ONE ABOVE THE SHIFTING NOB.

AFTER DRIVING HOME (APPROXIMATELY 25 MINUTES OF DRIVING), WHEN WE PUSHED THE BUTTON TO TURN OFF THE CAR, IT STAYED ON "RUN". WE PUSHED IT AGAIN, AND THE CAR TURNED OFF. AFTER OPENING THE DOOR, THE RADIO AND LIGHTS STAYED ON. EVEN AFTER CLOSING AND LOCKING THE CAR, THE RADIO STAYED PLAYING. AFTER SEARCHING THE HANDBOOK AND GOOGLING, WE DETERMINED THAT THE ONLY WAY TO GET IT TO TURN OFF WAS TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE MORE, WITH JUST THE CAR STAYING ON "RUN" AFTER PUSHING THE BUTTON, BUT AFTER PRESSING IT A COUPLE MORE TIMES, THE CAR AND RADIO TURNED OFF. AFTER CONTACTING THE DEALERSHIP, WE WERE TOLD THAT THEY HAVEN'T HEARD OF THIS HAPPENING. *TT *CN *JS

DURING RAIN OR WASHING, WATER COLLECTS IN THE REAR BACKUP LIGHT ASSEMBLY CAUSING CONDENSATION INSIDE THE ASSEMBLY.

BOUGHT THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW HAS A LITTLE OVER 10,000 MILES ON IT NOW, STARTED NOTICING STANDING WATER IN THE RACETRACK (BACK GATE) LED LIGHTS TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO FIND OUT WHY WATER WAS GETTING IN THEY INFORMED ME THE BRAKE LIGHT HAD A CRACK WHICH I THOUGHT WAS A SEAM (WHERE THE 2 PARTS MET) IT IS A STRAIGHT LINE DOWN, VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN A ACCIDENT OR DAMAGED, SO THE BRAKE LIGHT CRACKED IN ITS OWN. AFTER A LITTLE RESEARCH I FOUND OUT THIS IS VERY COMMON AND DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THIS CAN BE SAFE SINCE WATER IS GETTING INTO SOMETHING ELECTRICAL AND CAUSING LED BRAKE LIGHTS TO FAIL OR BURN OUT.

I HAVE REPORTED MY CAR NOT GOING IN THE GEAR SELECTED AND INSTEAD GOING INTO NEUTRAL OR PARK. IT HAS ALSO DRIVEN FORWARD WHEN IN PARK. THERE HAS ALSO BEEN ISSUES WITH THE AUTO PARK NOT ALWAYS WORKING IF DOOR IS OPENED AND THE CAR IS IN GEAR. NOW I AM BEING TOLD MY CAR EVEN THOUGH IT CAME WITH THIS SAFETY FEATURE WAS NOT SUPPOSED TO COME WITH IT, AND DODGE IS LOOKING TO REMOVE THIS FEATURE. WHEN THE CAR IS PUT INTO PARK AND YOU EXIT IT WILL SOMETIMES STILL DRIVE FORWARD. WHEN SWITCHING INTO REVERSE OR PARK THE CAR SOMETIMES LOCKS UP AND WONT MORE. THE RPMS GO UP BUT ITS STILL AS IF ITS IN PARK. I HAD TO PUT MY CAR INTO REVERSE TO TRY TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT AND THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT ENGAGE INTO REVERSE. BURNING SMELL COMING THROUGH THE VENTS DURING ENGINE OPERATION ABOVE 4000 RPM. IT IS CONSISTENTLY HAPPENING SINCE BRAND NEW AND NOW AT 10,000 MILES. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER 4 TIMES FOR VARIOUS OTHER REASONS AND THIS WAS REPORTED EVERY TIME. DEALER ADVISED US TO LEAVE CLIMATE CONTROL ON RECIRCULATION. THERE IS ALSO A DIFFERENT STRONGER EXHAUST SMELL THAT COMES INTO THE VEHICLE WHEN IDLING FOR S LONG PERIOD OF TIME. THIS HAPPENS INCONSISTENCY BUT IS SO STRONG THAT IT MAKES THE OCCUPANTS SICK. WE HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THIS SMELL FOR THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE TECHNICIAN. DODGE CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS BEEN CONTACTED REGARDING THESE ISSUES.

WHILE DRIVING MY 2017 DODGE DURANGO CITADEL (6980 MILES) HOME FROM WORK, I HAD THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL SET. I WAS IN A STEADY LINE OF TRAFFIC AND CARS LINED UP BEHIND ME. THE TRUCK STARTED TO STEADILY DECREASE IN SPEED, THERE WERE NO OBJECTS IN THE PATH OF THE VEHICLE AND THE CAR IN FRONT WAS AT LEAST 6 CAR LENGTHS AHEAD. WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE NOTHING HAPPENED WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE, I THEN ATTEMPTED TO BRAKE, MY BRAKES WERE NOT ACTIVE AS WELL. I PLACED MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON AND ATTEMPTED TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL SLIGHTLY TO MOVE MY VEHICLE FROM THE ROAD. HOWEVER, AT THIS TIME MY STEERING HAD TIGHTENED AND I COULD NOT MOVE MY VEHICLE. I ENDED UP COASTING TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD UNTIL MY VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP. NOTHING WAS WORKING ON MY TRUCK. I COULD NOT OPEN MY DOOR OR LET MY WINDOWS DOWN. IT WAS LIKE I WAS TRAPPED INSIDE. FINALLY, I WAS ABLE TO GET MY WINDOWS DOWN AFTER 3 OR MORE MINUTES. WHEN THE TOWING SERVICE PICKED MY VEHICLE UP, THE BACK WINDOWS WOULD NOT ROLL UP AND MY LIFT GATE OPENED BY ITSELF. WE GOT THE LIFT GATE BACK DOWN MANUALLY. HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. IF YOU PLACED YOUR FOOT ON THE BRAKE, PUSHED THE START BUTTON IT JUST MADE A CLICKING NOISE. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP AND WILL BE LOOKED AT TOMORROW, 9/26/17. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A HORRIBLE, FATAL ACCIDENT. SOME TYPE OF INVESTIGATION NEEDS TO TAKE PLACE INTO THIS MATTER. MY SON AND I TRAVEL MANY MILES A WEEK AND THIS WOULD HAVE DEFINITELY BEEN FATAL IF WE WERE ON THE INTERSTATE ON AN INSIDE LANE.

THE DASHBOARD SCREEN WAS ALERTING ME TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK. ONCE IN PARK, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AND I WAS UNABLE TO RESTART IT. I HAVE VIDEO SHOWING THE INDICATIONS IF SOMEONE NEEDS TO REACH OUT TO ME. MY BRAND NEW DODGE DURANGO SXT 2017 WAS STOLEN AT A SERVICE STATION. I GOT OUT OF MY CAR THAT WAS ON AND LOCKED. THIS PERSON USED SOME TYPE OF DEVICE TO OPEN IT WITHOUT THE KEY. IT IS 36 DAYS OLD.

I STARTED TO BACK OUT OF MY DAUGHTERS GARAGE AND FELT THE TIRE HIT SOMETHING. I DIDN'T WANT TO BACK OVER IT SO I PULLED FORWARD, PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK, OPENED THE DOOR AND STARTED TO GET OUT. I GOT ONE FOOT ON THE GROUND AND THE VEHICLE TOOK OFF IN REVERSE. I WAS THROWN BACK INTO THE SEAT. THE DOOR BEING PARTIALLY OPEN HIT A BOX WHICH FLUNG THE DOOR COMPLETELY OPEN. THE DOOR CLIPPED THE GARAGE DOOR JAM AND PUSHED THE DOOR INTO THE FRONT FENDER DAMAGING IT AND THE DOOR. THERE IS A NOISE COMING FROM THE FUEL TANK (RIGHT SIDE SECOND ROW) I HAD TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY STAYS THAT THERE IS NO NOISE, THEY HAD BROUGHT ANOTHER DODGE DURANGO WITH THE SAME FUEL TANK AND THAT PARTICULAR VEHICLE DID NOT MAKE THE NOISE AS MINE DOES.

THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES CONSISTENT WITH A CERVICAL STRAIN AND BRUISED RIBS, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE OCCUPANT IN THE OTHER VEHICLE SUFFERED NO INJURIES. THE OFFICER DRIVING THIS VEHICLE HAD PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK. THIS VEHICLE HAS THE ROTARY KNOB STYLE GEAR SELECTOR. THE OFFICER WAS GETTING HIS K9 PARTNER'S FOOD AND WATER READY IN HIS BACKYARD. ACCORDING TO THE OFFICER, AFTER ABOUT 10 MINUTES, HE HEARD A LOUD NOISE. WHEN HE WENT TO INVESTIGATE THE NOISE, HE FOUND THAT THE SUV HAS DROVE THROUGH HIS GARAGE DOOR. THE OFFICER STATES THAT THE GEAR INDICATOR SHOWED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK.

THERE IS A DISTINCT THUD OR LOW PITCHED BANGING SOUND WHEN DRIVING OVER A TRANSITION CURB FROM A CITY STREET INTO A SERVICE TYPE DRIVEWAY OR VICE VERSA, DRIVING OVER MAN HOLE COVERS, DRIVING OVER INSIGNIFICANT ROADWAY POT HOLES, HITTING SHARPER BUMPS IN THE ROADWAY. MOST TIMES THERE WILL BE A SIDE TO SIDE MOTION, BUT ALWAYS A BANG OR THUD AT THE LEFT REAR SHOCK ASSEMBLY AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 25 TO 40 MPH. THIS CONCERN HAS BEEN PREVIOUSLY ADDRESSED FROM THE NHSTA TO CHRYSLER DATING BACK TO 2011 AND CHRYSLER HAS ISSUED 4 TSB'S THAT CONTINUE TO BE INEFFECTIVE. CHRYSLER CONTINUES TO IGNORE THE SAFETY RELEVANCE, REGARDING THE VEHICLES REAR SUSPENSION.

AS A RESULT, THE TRANSMISSION PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 300.

AFTER TWO DAYS OF USE AND THREE HUNDRED TOTAL MILES ON MY VEHICLE I DISCOVERED AN OIL LEAK. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE TECHNICIANS INFORMED ME THAT THE LEAK FROM THE REAR MAIN SEAL ON THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, THE NEXT MORNING I NOTICE OIL LEAKING FROM THE SAME AREA. I TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A SECOND TIME AND AFTER A COUPLE OF DAYS I WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD A DEFECTIVE OIL PAN THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. A WEEK GOES BY AND THE DEALERSHIP INFORMS ME THE VEHICLE IS READY FOR PICKUP. THE NEXT DAY I CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP TO ARRANGE TO PICK UP THE VEHICLE AND WAS TOLD THE LEAK IS STILL PRESENT WHICH RESULTED IN A STAR CASE WHICH THE MANUFACTURERS ENGINEERS ARE ASSISTING THE LOCAL TECHNICIANS IN RESOLVING THE ISSUE. APPROXIMATELY TEN DAYS LATER I WAS TOLD THAT THE TRANSMISSION PUMP WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY IN THE SHOP WITH NO RESOLUTION BY THE MANUFACTURER. AFTER REVIEWING COMPLAINTS FILED ON WEBSITE VEHICLE FORUMS I DISCOVERED MANY VEHICLES ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUES AS THE ONE I OWN. WITH MY EXPERIENCE TO DATE I FEEL THE MANUFACTURER IS NOT DISCLOSING THE SEVERITY AND EXTENT OF THE PROBLEM INHERENT WITH THE VEHICLE TO ITS CUSTOMERS CREATING A SERIOUS RISK OF INJURY TO THE OPERATORS/OCCUPANTS OF THE VEHICLES INVOLVED. THIS START STOP FEATURE CAN BE DISABLED AFTER THE VEHICLE IS STARTED, BUT CANNOT BE SET BY DEFAULT TO DISABLE THIS FEATURE. I UNDERSTAND THE FUEL SAVING ISSUE, HOWEVER BUT MANY OF US HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR MANY YEARS AND WE DO A LOT OF THINGS UNCONSCIOUSLY BECAUSE THESE ACTIVITIES ARE SO COMMON TO US. WHEN THIS FEATURE IS ACTIVATED AND YOU COME INTO YOUR DRIVE WAY, YOUR GARAGE OR A PARKING SPACE AND FULLY COME TO A STOP, THE ENGINE TURNS OFF AND ALL GOES QUIET. SUBCONSCIOUSLY BECAUSE OF A LIFETIME OF DRIVING EXPERIENCE, YOU THINK THE CAR IS OFF, YOUR TRAVEL IS OVER AND YOU ARE READY TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. YOU START TO OPEN THE DOOR AND RELEASE THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY RESTARTS AND MOVES FORWARD. IF A CHILD OR SOMEONE ELSE OR A BUILDING WALL IS IT FRONT OF THE VEHICLE, A SERIOUS ACCIDENT COULD HAPPEN. PLEASE RETHINK THIS. IT IS NOT AN INTUITIVE PROCESS WHEN WE HAVE YEARS OR DECADES OF A DIFFERENT DRIVING EXPERIENCE. WE THINK THE CAR IS OFF, SAFE TO EXIT. WE NEED A WAY TO DEFAULT DISABLE THIS FEATURE RATHER THAN DEFAULT ENABLE. I KNOW THERE IS AN INVESTIGATION REGARDING DEATH OR INJURY WITH REGARD TO THE TRANSMISSION ON THESE VEHICLES, SPECIFICALLY A CLAIM THAT VEHICLE COULD MOVE WITH SELECTOR PUT IN THE PARK POSITION.
