Recent Owner Complaints

Direct reports filed with NHTSA by Dodge Durango owners — 20222026 model years.

Unknown Or Other04/19/2026

My vehicle is only one month old. Bought brand new from the dealership. While I was driving down the road my sunroof spontaneity exploded. Nothing hit the sunroof, there was not prior crack or chip in it. I had the window closed but the cover open. It sounded like an explosion and then glass just rained down on top of me. Dealership is refusing to cover cost after spending almost $60,000 with them one month ago.

Exterior Lighting04/07/2026

Front right turn signal went out after three years and I’m told I need to replace the entire light which is 1400 by itself. These led lights are supposed to last a long time.

Suspension /Unknown Or Other /Engine04/02/2026

1) Major transmission failure, fluid leakage, and visible undercarriage corrosion on a newly leased car with under 3K miles on it. Additional: Losing vehicle function. Car would not shift into gear and would not move. Car is currently at the dealership in which it was leased. 2) Yes, huge safety concern. Losing vehicle function while traveling on a bridge—with limited ability to safely stop posed a serious risk to our safety and to others on the road. 3) Yes, problem has been confirmed by dealer. 4) The vehicle has not been inspected at this time by anyone other than the dealership in which it was leased. 5)While accelerating at approximately 30–35 mph, the vehicle began emitting a high-pitched whining noise, similar to sound of a remote-control toy car. The vehicle then started jerking back and forth during acceleration. Shortly after, the “Check Engine” light illuminated. We activated our hazard lights, reduced speed to approximately 10-20 mph, exited the bridge, and pulled into an emergency stopping area. There was no prior warning that there was a problem.

Exterior Lighting /Service Brakes04/02/2026

Taillights holding water/condensation and making lights go dark.

Exterior Lighting03/21/2026

2022 Dodge Duranago I bought last March of 2025, certified preowned with 26,700 miles. As of today March 21 2026 there was water build up in the rear racetrack light. Upon starting the car the lights began flickering and the entire racetrack bar die with no light illumination at all. I could clearly see water build up in the bottom right hand corner of the light as well as water condensation on the lower left corner of the light. Many other Durango owners reported having the same issue with the dealerships not covering this.

Visibility/Wiper03/19/2026

on march 18th 2026 my vehicle was sitting in the driveway and my back windshield exploded. The glass fell outwards and not inwards. There was no cracks or anything on windshield prior to this incident. There was no one around the vehicle at the time and our cameras did not show anyone throwing anything at the vehicle. The side it exploded on was facing the sun.

Suspension /Electrical System /Back Over Prevention03/14/2026

The infotainment system always reboots. The screen will stay black or frozen. The system is constantly needing to be rebooted by holding the power button until the dodge logo comes up. The back up camera gets stuck when in reverse then going to drive. The picture stays frozen in time for about 4 minutes and the rcta doesn’t work during that time. The backup camera is always delayed to convert back to standard infotainment mode.

Exterior Lighting03/03/2026

This is a fairly new SUV and front turn signals are out. This puts me in danger of having to turn and other drivers not aware. It is not a simple bulb fix. All have to be removed. This was confirmed by a couple of independent mechanics. Vehicle has not been inspected by manufacturer. No warning lamps or messages prior to issue.

Exterior Lighting03/02/2026

The contact owns a 2022 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that after her husband restarted the vehicle, the driver's side headlight failed to illuminate. The contact related the failure to the headlamp assembly; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.

Exterior Lighting02/26/2026

Multiple reports on every forum on the Day Time Running Lights both Driver and Passenger side going out on 2020 to current Dodge Durangos with less than 20,000 on most at time of complaint. It cannot be repaired, only replaced with new headlight assembly at $1200 each. I have owned three (3) Dodge Durangos. #1 2020 Dodge Durango GT Driver side DRL went out at 5500miles. It was totaled in a MVC before it could be repaired under warranty. #2 2021 Dodge Durango GT. Driver side DRL went out at 7600 miles. Dodge made an offer on it during the Covid shortage and we took the offer. #3. Current vehicle is a 2022 Dodge Durango GT Plus. Driver side DRL went out at 62,000 miles. Dodge warranty will not cover the replacement.

Exterior Lighting02/15/2026

The Driver's side daytime running light white LED strip is inoperable. After internet research this complaint is very common and similar to the tail "racetrack" light recall. Because daytime running increases visibility of vehicles on the road, this is safety related. I have since observed several late year model Durangos with this exact fault. Stelantis/Dodge/Chrysler will not warranty the fault and the corrective action is to remove and replace the entire headlamp assembly at an estimated cost of $2k parts and labor.

Exterior Lighting02/13/2026

Drivers DRL failed within 3 yrs. This is LED and supposed to last 10-15 yrs. Extended bumper to bumper warranty won’t cover. It’s nearly 2k to fix. Risk is less visibility during daytime to other drivers. Is this led bulb, electrical, fuse, ballast? No one seems to know. 2 dealerships say have to replace entire headlight system for nearly 2k!!!
