Lemon law eligibility depends on state law, number of repair attempts, and days out of service. Consult an attorney for actual eligibility.
The same components appear in both official NHTSA recalls and owner-filed complaints — a double-confirmed failure signal.
Worn chain tensioners cause timing chain skip or snap — common on GM 5.3L/6.2L, Ford EcoBoost, VW/Audi EA888, BMW N47/N63. Listen for cold-start rattles.
Water pump failure causes rapid overheating. If the engine overheats even once, head gasket damage is likely — turning a $400 part into a $3,000+ repair.
Degraded transmission fluid destroys clutch packs and solenoids. CVT transmissions are especially sensitive — neglected fluid can result in a $4,000–$8,000 replacement.
Degraded coolant loses corrosion inhibitors and attacks aluminum engine components. Can cause head gasket failure and water pump corrosion.
Worn spark plugs cause misfires that can foul and crack catalytic converters. A $150 tune-up can prevent a $1,200 catalytic converter replacement.
Dirty or failing injectors cause rough idle, reduced fuel economy, and increased emissions. Cleaning costs $100–$200; replacement $800–$1,600.

The contact owns a 2020 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the steering wheel became sticky and jerked while turning in either direction. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic to be diagnosed, and it was determined that the electronic steering rack needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V744000 (STEERING). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 64,000.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda Civic. While driving 50 MPH on the highway, the passenger’s side wheel felt as if the wheel was about to detach, causing the vehicle to veer to the right. The vehicle returned to normal functionality and operated as designed. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 25E071000 (Wheels). The approximate failure mileage was 63,000.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while driving 60 MPH, a bobcat crossed the road, and the bobcat was struck by the vehicle. The contact stated that there was extensive front-end damage and undercarriage damage to the vehicle. The driver’s and passenger’s side air bags did not deploy. The contact was unsure whether there was a warning light illuminated. The contact was not injured. The vehicle was driven to a gas station, inspected, and then driven back to the residence. However, the vehicle failed to accelerate above 40 MPH. The vehicle was taken to a collision center for repair. The contact received a call from the collision center and was informed that all the air bags in the vehicle had been removed and that the wires were cut and twisted together, which led the sensors to believe the air bags were still connected. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 78,000.
On 04/2025 the car was driving fine with no warnings or indication of a problem. Turned my car on at a parking lot and as I was driving away the car suddenly stopped, all the warning lights started coming on. I was able to turn it back on and drove it to a nearby dealer. I am the second owner of the car and Honda dealer said the fuel pump had already been replaced due to a recall. This time they said it was a secondary fuel pump that was the problem and the very expensive repair was done. Fast forward to 2/2026 and the same thing happened. This time it was scarier as it shut off as a car was backing up from a parking spot. Fortunately, the driver saw the car and was able to stop before running into me. The car failed to start, and I had to get it towed. Could not tow it to the dealer since it was late in the evening. The next morning, the car did start, but all the warnings continued to flash on the dash. The car is being towed to the dealer where the "repair" was done. All this happening within a year of repairs. This should be a recall and Honda should refund my initial repairs as this is happening to other drivers as well.
Clutch started slipping all of a sudden. Check to see if it was under warranty said the warranty had expired because the car was over 36,000 MI did not know about the extended clutch warranty at the time that Honda was extending it due to defective parts so we replaced it ourselves. Upon tear down it was discovered that the clutch disc was only about 30% worn down there were no hot spots in the flywheel or the clutch cover so the problem was related to the holding force of the clutch cover have we continued to drive the car the way it was it would have burnt it up because it would barely move. I've been in Autotech for 50 years never seen a clutch slipping with this much material left on it and the parts in this condition it is obviously a defect with the part and I submitted a claim to Honda and they denied it had I had known Honda would have taken care of it I would have brought it to them.
Fuel pump issue. There is an active recall for this make and model but this vin isn’t included. The car will be fine and either completely shut down or once parked it won’t restart. After about an hour it will start and be fine. We took to a local mechanic who diagnosed the fuel pump. Said there was a recall so we went to the local dealership. They said it isn’t included and they can’t get the fuel pumps as they are being held for recalls only. The car continues to have this issue which is unsafe. I’ve contacted Honda corporate who are trying to get a fuel pump for us. We believe this should be included in the recall and should be looked into further I’m listing the most recent incident date but it’s happened at least 20 times since August 2025
This model Civic Si was build by Honda with a defective clutch. Mine began to fail at less than 60K miles. It started in the higher RPM 5K to 6K in the taller overdrive gears. This clutch design was unable to support the torque of the motor, which led to its premature failure. It's well documented in Honda forums that the clutch is weak and prone to early failure. It usually starts to fail in the upper gears under moderate acceleration. Once it starts to fail it does become a problem. Honda appears to be aware of the problem as they did have a TSB out that allowed for replacement for 5 years of 60K miles. However, reports on the internet seem to state Honda charges $2K just to tear down the car to look at the clutch. My car was low mileage and still hasn't hit 60K miles but outside the 5 year warranty. However, even if Honda had agreed to replace the clutch they reportedly leave the original dual mass flywheel, which would contribute to a shorter life span for the new clutch they just installed. The OEM manufacturer Exedy won't sell you the same clutch that Honda put into this car, and will only sell you the clutch from the type R. Thus it does appear clear that both Exedy and Honda were fully aware of the manufacturer defective clutch. A clutch like this should last over 100K miles. However, Honda rather then recalling them appears to have just thrown it to the wind and is willing to just let whatever happens pan out and see what's left . The failure of this clutch once it starts to slip does appear to be a relatively short process before total failure. Although it appears there has been no deaths so far there is a good chance someone will delay replacing that clutch because of cost, which could lead to a severe auto-accident or death. Even if Honda doesn't want to do a recall or reimburse their car owners they should at least issue an alert to owners about their defective clutch with free inspections. Respectfully submitted.
The air conditioning system in my 2020 Honda Civic EX has a refrigerant leak at the evaporator assembly, causing very weak or almost no cooling even when set to the lowest temperature settings. This happens consistently, including in moderate to hot outside temperatures, making the cabin uncomfortably warm during drives as it could get pretty hot in inland southern California. The A/C evaporator assembly is the failed component, and the part remains in the vehicle available for inspection if requested. This issue creates a safety risk because reduced visibility from window fogging in humid or rainy conditions (due to lack of proper dehumidification and cooling) can impair safe driving. In extreme heat, it also increases driver fatigue and distraction from discomfort. The problem was confirmed by a Honda dealership through diagnostic testing, which identified the evaporator leaking refrigerant. They previously repaired a related condenser leak under warranty, but the cooling issue persisted and was later traced to the evaporator. The vehicle has been inspected by the dealership (manufacturer-authorized) on multiple occasions for this A/C concern. No specific warning lamps or messages appeared on the dashboard related to the A/C system. This appears to be part of a broader pattern reported by owners of similar 2016-2021 Honda Civics, where condenser failures (sometimes covered by extended warranty) are followed by evaporator leaks, possibly related to the vehicle's use of R-1234yf refrigerant and system pressures. I recently received partial goodwill assistance from the manufacturer toward repair costs, but the issue highlights a recurring defect in the A/C system that affects cooling reliability. This car is driven by my 20 years old daughter as a commuter car to college and she is really suffering. I feel I am putting her at risk and need to get it fixed ASAP at whatever cost.
vehicle turns on in to accessory mode, does not allow me to turn off vehicle sometimes car turns on at night by itself, alarm goes off when parked and locked
The contact owns a 2020 Honda Civic. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V064000 (AIR BAGS). The vehicle was taken to the dealer for the recall repairs, and the contact was informed that the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.
The collision mitigation braking system consistently detects objects in the road and forcibly brakes when the road ahead of me is completely empty. This has happened 4 or 5 times just in the last year. The first time it happened I was driving on a completely empty road when the CMBS activated and kept slamming on the brakes until I pulled over and restarted the entire car. I don't always have to restart the car every time, but if it ever happens on a busy road it will cause an accident. The dealership refuses to inspect the system or try to recreate the problem despite the fact that there was a class-action suit against Honda for this exact CMBS malfunction in several other models. They just tell me to manually turn it off every time I get in the car. I am human and sometimes I forget, so this is not a solution. I'm afraid that this buggy "safety" system is going to get me and my child killed one of these days. I am happy to have the system inspected, but it doesn't keep a log of every time it activates so there's no real way to verify the false positives, and it happens randomly so it's very hard to recreate.
I was driving to work in the rain on the highway and I heard a big thump and I thought I had hit something and my wheel went sideways and I kept trying to keep my car on the road even though I didn’t hit anything.
My 2020 Civic Si had a total clutch failure at <32,000 miles matching TSB22-017 exactly. The vehicle failed to accelerate on a major interstate. The posted speed limit is 65 mph. While attempting to reach that speed the vehicle was revving at >6000RPM in all gears. I was able to reach 50 mph for short periods, but the vehicle would then slow to 45 or lower. An extreme safety risk on a busy highway. When the vehicle was pulled to the shoulder and stopped, the car would not go into 1st gear at all, leaving me stranded on the side of a busy interstate highway. This vehicle has been properly maintained with no modifications and no abusive driving.
Honda CVT transmission fluid seal leak cause by failed torque converter. Car has a perfect maintenance history, all fluid changes done on time with Allen Honda at Bryan Texas including filters associated. Car is garage kept, not driven hard. Always driven in economy mode for smooth efficiency. Failure occurred at 86,165 miles. Significant enough I am reporting this, as it is a safety issue, however don't know if other Honda civics have had this issue. A normal CVT transmission should last 150,000 miles before issues start according to manufacturer (Honda) who built the car. Two photos attached displaying the leak and puddle on my driveway. Leak is a slow drip, fixing it in the morning at a shop which will put me out of almost $3000 not under warranty because car is 6 years of age instead of 5 years. Honda needs to be made aware this is a serious safety concern, had I not caught it, it could have led to crash possibly, or fire from overheating. Leaking areas circled in red. Car currently not drivable, having to tow it in the morning to replace failed parts.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while sitting in the vehicle with the vehicle turned off, the contact heard a pop. Upon inspection, the contact discovered that the rear windshield had cracked without impact. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 48,821. The VIN was unavailable.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda Civic. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V064000 (Air Bags); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The dealer was contacted and informed the contact that parts for the recall repair were on backorder. No information on when parts would be available was provided. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.
My 2020 Honda Civic's passenger seat weight sensor failed due to an internal electrical failure. This is an officially diagnosed issue from a Honda Dealership. This put's my passenger's at risk as the airbags will not deploy due to the sensor not reading the passenger's weight. The vehicle has not been in an accident that would have caused this sensor to fail. On 10/16 the SRS light (reading airbag system problem) first showed while driving. The light is still on.
My steering gradually stiffens then suddenly releases while traveling the highway. It cycled this way during the entire trip. It acted this way for the first time Oct 22, 2025 on the outgoing part of my hour long trip. It acted this way the second time Oct 25, 2025 on the hour long return drive home. I was the only one in the car at the time. Therefor, it put my own safety in jeopardy plus those traveling the highway at the same time I was traveling on the highway. I am calling my Honda dealership in the morning, Monday October 27, 2025, to set up an appointment to bring my car in. There were no warning lamps, messages nor other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure and when it first appeared on Oct 22, 2025. I find that I am not the only one experiencing this problem with a 2020 Honda Civic SI a 10th generation Civic.
The vehicle was moving forward at 10 mph and went over a manhole cover that was protruding 4 inches out of the ground that was on the driver’s side. The manhole cover came in contact with the underside of the car and set the front driver’s side airbag off.
Q: What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? A: BCM (body mechanical module) became faulty, causing car to turn on ignition by itself. Would be sitting in car with it off and the ignition would turn on causing issues with battery and gas consumption. Also in order to save that until it was figured out what was wrong I had to disconnect the battery causing multiple resets to my electrical system. Yes. Q: How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? A: Would be sitting in car with it off and the ignition would turn on causing startling and issues with battery and gas consumption. Q: Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? A: Confirmed and fixed so far by a small and independent electrical mechanic. Q: Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? A: No. Q: Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? A: No.
There is a known recall on the fuel pump and the last bulletin from Feb 25 #24008 lists All Vins except ones starting with JHM. My Honda has shut down on 6 occasions. I took it to a mechanic who diagnosed it as the fuel pump is bad. He showed me the bulletin. When I contacted Honda I was told this Vin is not included. it has under 50,000 miles on it. I believe this is somehow being overlooked in the recall for some reason This is dangerous for me to continue driving this car. It is an expensive repair for a car with under 50k miles. Please help
The steering wheel becomes "sticky" and requires more force than usual to move it to the right or left. This is particularly noticeable when driving in a straight line, and the issue becomes apparent after driving for roughly 10 minutes. This causes an overcorrection when making minor adjustments to stay centered in a lane. Doing further research online reveals that many others are having the same issue with their 10th generation Honda Civics, and many dealers are attributing the issue to the Electronic Power Steering system (EPS). A replacement EPS rack costs thousands to replace, making it unobtainable for some. There have been no codes or warning lights, and the issue has been going on for at least a year.
ALL SAFTY LIGHTS APPEAR ON DASHBOARD. SAFTY FUNCTIONS NOT ENABLED.
While driving down the road my steering wheel locks or sticks then quickly releases causing me to overcorrect the steering wheel. This happens on a continuous basis while driving. There are no warning lights or messages that come on. I took it to dealership for a diagnostics and they determined it to be the steering gear box but not considered a a recalled item.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda Civic. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V064000 (Air Bags); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was contacted, and informed the contact that parts were not yet available for the recall repair, and there was no information on when parts would be available. The contact called another dealer, Holman Honda of Fort Lauderdale (12 E Sunrise Blvd, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304); who confirmed the information provided by the first dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and opened a case. The manufacturer informed the contact that the parts were on back order. The contact had not experienced a failure.

I received an email from Honda regarding a safety recall, stating that the defective part is now available. However, when I called different Honda dealerships, they told me to disregard the notice because the part is not available. If the repair cannot be done, I am concerned why Honda sent the notice in the first place.
I am writing to formally report a persistent and widely experienced issue with the air conditioning system on Honda Civic models from 2017 through 2025 (10th generation). Many owners, including myself, have encountered repeated failures where the A/C system either stops working entirely or begins to blow hot air. These issues appear to be linked to faulty components such as the condenser and evaporator, which have become known problems within the Civic community. I've also noticed that people will fix this issue, only to have it return a few years later. I got lucky when we purchased my car in 2020. We added a Honda Care package, which is still under warranty. They will replace everything without additional payment. What’s concerning is that once the vehicle is out of warranty, owners are being quoted anywhere from $1,300 to $3,000 for repairs, costs that seem excessive for a known defect affecting a major comfort and safety feature. I respectfully ask that Honda recognize this issue and provide appropriate support or reimbursement options for affected customers, especially considering the pattern and volume of complaints. Please let me know how Honda intends to address this concern and if there are any extended warranties or recall programs currently in place for the affected A/C components. Sincerely, [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The contact owns a 2020 Honda Civic. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, the air conditioner was blowing out hot air, and there was steam coming out of the passenger's side air conditioner vents. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where freon was added to the air conditioner system service port, and the contact was informed that there was no leak. The contact stated that the failure recurred a month later. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer, where it diagnosed that the air conditioner condenser had failed and needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired twice and was currently in the process of being repaired a third time. The contact related the failure to Technical Service Bulletin Number: 19-091(Warranty Extension: 2016-21 Civic A/C Condenser). The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and informed the contact that the failure would be recorded. The failure mileage was approximately 58,000.
The A/C system failed due to contamination from the ac condenser and compressor shaft seal leaking. It was inspected at Hardin Honda dealership and confirmed these systems were leaking and the entire system was contaminated. My vehicle is available for inspection upon request. My safety is put at risk because the contamination can cause the engine to fail. The problem has been confirmed by Hardin Honda dealer and Honda issued two warranty extensions to fix these issues. Hardin Honda put in writing that the defect code is 6C300 and one of the two warranty extensions is under this code. Honda issued Service Bulletin 19-091 for my issue, but they are now refusing to stand behind their warranty extension. When we took it to the dealership they said our issue was not the same and that we had to pay thousands of dollars to fix the entire a/c system. The dealer said they cannot fix the two parts under warranty because the whole system is contaminated but the whole system is contaminated because of those two parts leaking. We reached out to Honda Corporation and they refuse to correlate our issue with the warranty extensions even though we have in writing from Hardin Honda that our A/C issues are the ones under the warranty. Honda issued these warranty extensions and are refusing to pay for the damages that my car is experiencing. The A/C system stopped working on 7/14/2025 and I took the car to the dealership on 7/17/2025 to get it checked out. Honda issued these warranties because of a manufacturing fail on their part and now they are refusing to fix their own issue and making us pay for damages that we had no idea were happening until our A/C system went out. If Honda had issued a recall for these faulty parts, then I would have taken my car in to be fixed right away and my whole a/c system would not be contaminated. We have been in communication with Honda Corp but they will not assist us and will not stand behind their warranty extensions.
Phantom braking. Really dangerous
I bought this car from a Honda dealership in Cincinnati. I searched for this specific year and color. It had about 48k miles on it when I got it. I have only put on 14k miles now. I purchased the warranty. After a year of owning it. My paint on the plastic pieces started to chip off. The mirror is nearly completely paintless, and the door handles look bad as well. I have been trying to work with Honda. The dealership recognized this was an issue with this color. There is a class action for the white as well. The honda dealership said Honda corporate should do something about it since I haven't had this car very long. Honda corporate came back and told me that they would have only covered it in the year of 2020 which is silly because the car is a 2020. I purchased it at the end of 2023. So as soon as I got this off of the lot I was [XXX] essentially. I told them that I haven't even put that many miles on the car and they said it didn't matter. Online everywhere talks about the issues with the paint chipping on the plastics and they refuse to recognize it. I was quoted over 1000 to fix the more serious issues but another 400 more to fix everything and that was just for the parts and not the labor. The dealership service manager at Honda recognized this was a problem but corporate doesn't want to do anything about it. The issue started happening a year after I purchased it. I haven't even owned it for a full two years. Not even 14k miles on it since my purchase. Purchased the warranty and they refuse to help. Researched and found this has been a common issue with this make and model. Clutch slippage at random times when accelerating, reported to Honda dealership multiple times, stated there wasn’t any issue with vehicle and denied this was a common issue even though it has been reported by multiple owners of this year/make/model. 3-4 days ago, clutch started disengaging while driving and constantly had the burning friction smell. Fortunately I was able to get my vehicle to the dealership without having to be towed but it was a slow with lots of praying to the car gods. Now the dealership is charging me an outrageous amount to repair, even though I reported this months ago (prior to it getting this bad) and was told there wasn’t nothing wrong with it. My estimate for repairs came to just under $5k for something that should’ve been fixed when it was first reported (which probably would’ve been way less in cost to fix at that time). AND…I had to tell them what the issue was in detail because they treated me like I was stupid. This should’ve been a recall a long time ago with all the reports and complaints from so many people instead of Honda treating people like they’re stupid.

The vehicle stalled while I was driving. Myself or my son could of been very injured or worse if I wasn't able to get off the main road. The fuel gage said it was full of gas, but it wasn't moving with what miles the car said it had left. 3: N/A 4: I believe it was inspected because it states in the recall the the fuel pump impeller wasn't molded properly. 5: Yes, all of my check engine lights came on. While pushing on the gas peddle the car wouldn't move. The car started to slow down and shake. It first appeared a week after I got the recall fixed on 6/22/25 Side note: I don't currently have the documents in my possession. Its in the car at the dealership. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Both fuel pumps failed and were replaced. The parts were saved for inspection upon request. My car shut down while I was accelerating on the entry ramp to a major highway. If it had not been for my skilled driving and fast thinking, a major accident with injuries would have occurred. The mechanic who fixed my car said this was the 12th one he has repaired. The vehicle was not inspected by anyone from Honda but we did save all the old parts so that it could be verified. There were absolutely no warning lights, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. Honda has a recall for this exact problem, for this exact same car but the VIN for my car has not been released yet because they are doing it increments, apparently. What doesn't make sense is that they don't agree to accept responsibility for this recall on the cars that have broken down and been diagnosed with this recall because the VIN hasn't been released yet! This is a $1900 repair that I had to come out of pocket for and I need to be reimbursed in order to payback the money borrowed to pay for the repair. Can you somehow help with this problem. I have the receipts for the repair but don't have them with me at the office where I am sending this message. I can provide them if you need me to but the total amount paid for the repair was $1984.
My automatic Breaks that prevents me from rear ending a car keeps engaging when I am a few car lengths from another vehicle. It’s happened once yesterday and once today. Both times in heavy traffic areas. I’ve had the car for two years and this is the first time this has happened. Thankfully no one was following close behind because they may have hit me. I’m afraid this is going to happen one day when someone is too close and I’m going to get rear ended. It’s really scary and dangerous. I’m scared to drive my car.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda Civic. The contact stated that the front driver’s side door failed to open as needed. The contact stated that several attempts were needed to open the door. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to the steel beams inside the door. The contact stated that the failure occurred frequently. The contact had suffered rotator cuff injuries on both shoulders. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 25,000.
The evaporator in my 2020 Honda Civic failed without warning, causing the air conditioning system to stop blowing cold air. This posed a safety risk, especially in hot weather, as it affected driver comfort and increased the chance of fatigue or distraction. The issue was diagnosed and confirmed by a certified Honda dealership, whose staff acknowledged that evaporator failure is a common problem in 10th generation Civics and that Honda corporate is aware of multiple similar cases. While Honda has extended warranty coverage for other A/C components, the evaporator—despite its high failure rate—remains excluded. The repair is extremely labor-intensive and costly, often exceeding what many owners can reasonably afford, which discourages timely repairs. In many cases, the failure is due to leaking refrigerant, which not only compromises system performance but also poses an environmental hazard. There were no warning lights or messages before the failure, and the component is available for inspection upon request. I am requesting that Honda extend warranty coverage to include the evaporator and provide reimbursement for repairs due to the widespread nature, safety concerns, and environmental impact of this issue.
While making a slow right turn into a shopping plaza, I accidentally struck a median curb with only the driver’s side front tire. Despite the low speed and minimal impact, the passenger side front airbag deployed without cause, severely endangering my passenger. Aside from a flat tire, there was no damage to the body of the car. Fortunately, we were moving slowly enough to avoid injury, but had we been going any faster, it could have caused serious harm. After the incident, both front seatbelts locked, rendering the vehicle unsafe for both the driver and passenger. I later discovered that there are confirmed recalls affecting the passenger airbag system (specifically the front passenger seat weight sensor) for 2020 Honda Civics—my car’s exact make and model—but my VIN does not appear to be included, despite exhibiting the same failure. When I brought the car to a Honda dealership, I was told the recall did not apply and was quoted $10,000 in repairs for the SRS and seatbelt systems. Rather than addressing the potential manufacturing defect, I was instead hounded to trade in the vehicle. I believe this incident reflects a serious safety malfunction tied to an existing recall and deserves investigation. My vehicle may have been improperly excluded from a recall campaign affecting others with identical equipment and model specifications.
Very frequently, the brake alert system comes on while on the highway causing my vehicle to engage the braking system. This happens whether or not there is a vehicle in front of me.
While driving vehicle down the road the steering wheel sticks for a second or two then releases. This caused the car to veer off course until corrected. This has happened on a regular basis. I took it to dealership but they stated there were no recalls for the vehicle
The contact owns a 2020 Honda Civic. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V064000 (Air Bags); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was made aware of the issue but confirmed that parts were not yet available, and to wait for the second owner notification letter to be mailed. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
The passenger side seat belt light comes on when someone is sitting in the passenger seat. We have had to McGrath Honda in St Charles IL, but they say there is no recall. First time they did a diagnostic and said nothing wrong. Still came on sporadically. Took back, McGrath said they could do a diagnostic but it would cost $159. I said, you already did that. Why not change the sensor. They said we have a service bulletin that states it may be a problem, but you will have to pay to fix. I said it does not come on all the time, so obviously it is a Honda problem. Left the dealership. That was three months ago. It has started coming on again. This is ridiculous. Honda has a seat belt safety issue and refuse to address it. What can be done? Do I need to contact the Consumer Protection Agency in Illinois or the National Safety and Transportation board?

The steering wheel tightens up when going on the highway. Researching the internet it is for a lot of Honda Civic models. People in the internet call it "sticky steering wheel" & that is exactly how it feels. It is a safety concern.
Steering is very sticky and fights me to correct to center. It is especially bad at high speeds and wet road conditions. It is unsafe to have to fight my steering wheel when correcting back to straight after a curve in the road. Dealership has been notified and was dismissed as caused by wind. Alignment has been corrected and it is still an issue. No dash warning lights. Just difficulty steering on a daily basis.
I am the owner of a 2020 Honda Civic Sport, and my air conditioning system has stopped working due to a failed evaporator. A certified Honda dealer confirmed the diagnosis and quoted a high cost for repairs. After researching, I found many other Civic owners with the same issue across multiple model years (2016–2021). Honda has issued an extended warranty for the AC condenser but not for the evaporator, even though both are key components of the same system. This issue negatively impacts the comfort and safety of the vehicle, especially in hot climates, and appears to be widespread. I believe it warrants investigation and possibly a broader warranty extension or recall.
At high speeds and exceptionally worse during rainy weather, my steering is very sticky and fights me to maintain my lane. It is tough to make micro adjustments to stay straight and it sticks harder making a curve and coming back to straight. I have made my concerns with my dealership who said they felt it but blamed it on high winds at the time. It has not been rectified in non windy weather. It feels very unsafe while driving highway speeds. There are several of the same complaints from the same make and model year of this car on many forums

I received notice of the recall for my car more than six months ago, and since then, I have been trying to schedule an appointment at the Honda dealership in Paramus, NJ. However, they always tell me that the replacement part is unavailable and that they will call me back. It has now been at least six months, and my car is losing power and consuming more fuel than usual. For my safety and the safety of others, I request that this issue be resolved as soon as possible. Thank you.
Was driving and vehicle broke down. Pulled a code P0087 which has to do with fuel pressure and do to all the fuel pump recall and everyone else’s experience, I believe the 2020 ex civics need to be recalled as well. Put my life in danger breaking down while diving down the road.
the car gets wet in the floor area after it rains. took to dealer and said it was p/S issue. the car is 5 years old, yet now there is mold on the floor carpet due to the water damage.
2020 Honda Civic EX-L Bought In 2021, December 2024 car has 102K miles and transmission went out. No warning at all, in the middle of highway. It's now Febuary 2025 a used transmission provided under the power train warranty got installed. That transmission is also failing on the vehicle. Dealership service manager doesn't know what the problem is nor why it is showing failure. I have no update on repair as of now. My only options were to trade in or buy a brand new $10k transmission out of pocket. HIGHLY disappointed and stressed out. - Regular maintenance/service on vehicle performed at shop. - All documentation was provided to dealership and warranty, all documents were accepted. - vehicle never gave me a warning of any failure. - No car, no rental, no replacement. ***dealership and warranty have not provided any information in writing or documentation as requested.
The car cuts off while driving
After about twenty minutes of driving the vehicle, the steering wheel will become notchy and sticky feeling, making it hard to perform slight adjustments in the steering while driving in a straight line. This sticky steering feeling causes me to overcorrect in my steering because I am forced to fight the steering wheel. This becomes a larger issue at highway speeds, as this sticky steering issue can make it hard to keep the vehicle in a straight line which poses a safety concern for me and other drivers on the road. My vehicle has not been inspected by anyone. I am open to having my vehicle inspected for this issue. My vehicle has around 54,000 miles.
I believe my car is affected by this recall and although it isn't showing up by my vin number, I am experiencing braking issues that cause the pedal to bounce while braking and it is getting worse by the day. NHTSA RECALL NUMBER:23V-458 MFR CAMPAIGN ID:VEU CAMPAIGN DESCRIPTION:2020-21 Civic Master Cylinder Mounting Inspection Safety Recall RECALL DATE:06/29/2023 RECALL STATUS:17 Character VIN Required SUMMARY: American Honda Motor Co., Inc. (Honda) is recalling certain 2020-21 model year Civic vehicles. The brake master cylinder may have been improperly fastened to the brake booster assembly during production, resulting in loose or missing tie rod nuts. During application of the brake pedal, the tie rod studs may break, leading to the brake master cylinder separating from the brake booster assembly and a failure to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) 135 - Light vehicle brake systems.
While driving on interstate highway, main dash display went almost completely dark. Could not see speed, warning lights, gas gauge, engine temp, etc. Pulled over to check out problem and "push to start" button would not turn off engine. It did on second try. Dealer diagnosed fault in gauge control module. Must be replaced.
The vehicle’s emergency braking system randomly applies the brakes even when the front is not obstructed. Front sensors are kept clear of any debris, dirt, or bugs. I went to Honda of El Cajon in El Cajon, Ca and they could not help me even though the service advisor admitted that another Honda CR-V driver had the same problem the same day. This is a safety concern as my car has applied he brakes while on the freeway and at stop signs at random. Honda has failed to acknowledge the issue.
The steering wheel will often stick while turning at high speeds on the high way, causing forceful correction of the steering wheel for it to un stick. This also happens at moderate speeds on city roads. The force required to unstick the steering wheel can cause sharp swerving motions with the car. This can be unsafe.
Today my 19 year old daughter was driving and her car just died in the middle of the road. And it wouldn’t start back up. It finally did start and she was able to pull over out of traffic. This is a huge safety issue and about the 20th time this has happened to my daughter. It is maybe even happen more. I fill out one of these reports every time and I don’t feel like my voice is heard or that anybody cares. One of these times somebody is going to hit my daughter and I hope she doesn’t die due to an accident. This is a huge safety issue and I know there is a safety recall on fuel pumps. Just not my daughter‘s model. She needs this fuel pump fixed and replaced and Honda needs to pay for it. Every other 2020 Honda has a fuel pump recall except my daughter’s model and I think that this issue happening about 20 times warrants a recall. Would Honda rather fix the fuel pump or have somebody get into a serious accident because they didn’t. We don’t have the money to just buy another car or pay to get it fixed as it is expensive and I know that other cars are being fixed for free under the recall. If this is the wrong site to to bring this issue forward and have something be done please somebody let me know so I can address the correct people. Like I said I have filled this out about 20 times and nobody has ever contacted me or got back to me.
On January of 2024 I received a letter from Honda informing me that my vehicle was affected by a recall regardimg a seat sensor of the airbag. I contacted the dealership to get the recall fixed because my vehicle is used for a car rental business and with the recall I am not able to operate the vehicle for rental purposes. I was told by my local dealer that if my dash oard light is not on they cannot fix it. I called several times for several months, the last time being today, December 09, 2024. Basically, I received the letter to notify me of tje recall, bit the dealer will not fix it. The recall description is provided below. Manufacturer Safety-related recall issued NHTSA #24V-064 Recall #ZHF 2020-21 Civic Seat Weight Sensor Safety Recall
Steering sticks to one side, especially at highway speeds. For example, if you're going around a left hand curve, you can let go of the wheel and the car will continue turning left. When changing the steering direction at highway speeds, especially to maintain lane position, the steering initially has high resistance, then seems to suddenly release and the vehicle darts to the side. Confirmed that no driver assist was active when seeing this behavior. Have not taken it in to be examined, no warning lamps or messages.
Honda Motor Co. has not made replacement parts available. This recall is 8 months old, is a severe safety risk and dealers are unable to provide any estimates for when parts will be available. Although we have received a letter stating parts are available dealers tell us to call on Monday to see if replacement parts have been received. For an IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL, this situation is untenable.
Received 2 letters regarding fuel pump module and that parts are now available. However, contacted 3 dealerships and Honda National and now being told parts are unavailable till end of the year. Though I have option to have part replaced elsewhere are reimbursed for only part of expense. Problem ongoing since February 2024. I feel Honda is dropping the ball on this safety recall and someone needs to step in to ensure Honda complies and corrects issue asap and not make consumers wait another 10 months.

Clutch has begun slipping very badly at 40,000 miles, sometimes to the point of not being able to accelerate. It is worse at highway speeds. There is a known service bulletin 22-017 outlining this issue. According to the VIN, this vehicle was assembled in the Alliston, Ontario, Canada plant and further online research has found multiple others having the same issue on vehicles from the same plant.
I am writing to formally express my concern regarding a malfunction with the fuel pump in my vehicle, 2020 Honda Civic. The fuel pump almost failed, leading to unknown issues with the vehicle's operation. I can provide access to the vehicle for inspection at your convenience. This malfunction almost put my safety and the safety of others at risk. The vehicle almost stalled unexpectedly while stationary, creating a hazardous situation. The issue has been confirmed by an independent service center, where they noted the possible fuel pump's failure as the primary cause of the problems I've experienced. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer but I am prepared to facilitate this immediately. Prior to the attempted failure, I noticed a few warning symptoms, including sporadic engine sputtering. These symptoms first occurred approximately yesterday October 14th, 2024 at 9:36am. I would appreciate your prompt attention to this matter and look forward to your response regarding the next steps to resolve this issue.
CMBS automatically and unexpectedly deploys for no reason: there is no car or obstacle in front of the car. This has happened multiple times. I have taken the car to the dealer twice with this complaint and they were unable to duplicate the issue, so I was told they couldn't find anything wrong. I now disable the system each and every time I start the car because if I don't, I foresee a circumstance when freeway driving that I would be severely rear-ended, causing me major injury, or even death.
Once again while driving on the interstate at highway speed the car lost power and then died. At first it wouldn’t start and then finally did where it could be slowly driven to an exit for safety. I 100% think this vehicle needs included in the fuel pump recall! This is probably the 30th time it has done this. This is my 19 year old daughter’s car and it is very unsafe. We bought a Honda because we heard they are very good and safe and reliable cars. This hasn’t proven to be that! We can’t afford to just get another car or pay to have it fixed. I know there are many other Hondas with this recall in effect! Add this VIN number. I have reported this issue multiple times! Do better Honda and fix my daughters car before she gets in an accident that could injure or even kill her!
My fuel pump was causing some engine stalling and poor acceleration. It did not cause a breakdown but it could lead to flow disruptions of fuel, leading to potential breakdowns and costly repairs if not addressed promptly.

Electronic power steering was checked at Honda Jeff Wyler.Cost me $179.00. They are charging me $3200.00 and I have to fix this because this has been going on for a yr and has become increasingly difficult to drive. I am fixing it this week, with our savings. The steering sticks and then over corrects constantly. I am an UBER DRIVER, so driving others. Someone asked me if I was ok because they saw the jerking and was concerned. No warning lights. I searched Google and saw the beginning of a class action for the 2022 and 2023 civic. But not for 2020. We have to do something before I risk my and others lives. Another concern is that my wife and 2 daughters have 2020 Hondas as well. The cost is extremely high for cars that normally take 6 yrs to pay for. We are [XXX] and don't have an income that can easily afford this. I turn my car on To go to work realized I didn’t have my phone. Car was in park. I hadn’t touch the gearshift at all I get out of the car. Approximate 20 seconds after I walk away from the car, my home security camera shows the car creeping extremely slowly backwards up into my driveway going up across the crown of the road… across the street and falls into a 10 foot deep ditch. I am 100% certain that Car was in Park… There were no sounds when I open the door to alert me that it would be anything other than park.. The back up camera was not engaged, so it was definitely not in Reverse… When the tow truck pulled it out of the ditch, it was Still running It had stopped vertically before it hit the bottom of the ditch, and rear tire got stuck in muddy water…. There were no ruts from tire, spinning from the front end at all in the ditch or the grass above the ditch… There is a recall of some 2020 civics for brake failure, parking brake failure…. I strongly believe my car needs to be part of this recall, because obviously something is wrong… My road is 55 mph and a car had to stop to avoid hitting my car… I have video from my home camera That shows a clear delay between when I get out of my car and shut the door and the car starts crawling. I tested it after he pulled it out of the ditch just to see if I had it in reverse from the same exact spot wouldn’t move and it immediately moved so I’m certain something is wrong… Right now the body shop can’t even duplicated can’t even get it to get caught between Park and reverse. Please investigate And this could’ve easily been a fatality. I need to send more photos and videos, but it won’t allow me to do it but there’s definitely more for me to send If someone can give me an email
The fuel pump failed prematurely. Car would not start and had to be towed to mechanic. There were no warnings leading up to the failure. There is currently a recall for the fuel pump on 2020 Honda Civics, however my VIN is not included in the current recall.
The AC condenser has been replaced twice along with the shaft seal.Which then caused my evaporator core to crack and is now leaking and gonna cost me two thousand dollars
The contact owns a 2020 Honda Civic. The contact stated while driving 20 MPH, the steering wheel air bag exploded without the vehicle crashing with another vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the residence. There were no injuries sustained, and there was no medical attention needed. The dealer was not contacted nor was the vehicle repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
Vechicle was taken because the air blower was blowing hot. There is a recall the condenser on these cars but in addition the evaporator of the A/C equipement also has gone bad. They have said it needs to be replaced. The vechicel is still being paid for and its only has 38,593 miles. It definitely a manufacturing issue. They need to include this in their recalls.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda Civic. The contact stated while driving at approximately 25 MPH, the contact heard an abnormal popping sound and became aware that the passenger’s side rear-view mirror had detached from the vehicle. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the passenger’s side rear-view mirror needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 16,842.
There is a recall on my vehicle and I contacted Honda on April 1, 2024 to get the car repaired but was told there were no parts to repair the car. I tried to call back to schedule an appointment over 2 months later to remedy the recall but the dealership still does not have a solution or parts. This is unacceptable as it is unsafe to continue to drive the vehicle like this.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda Civic. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH, the vehicle came to an abrupt stop. The contact was concerned that the parking brake had engaged without driver input. The contact stated that after closing the windows, turning off the vehicle, and exiting the vehicle, she noticed that the windows and sunroof had opened independently upon her return. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact called the local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 51,815.
Clutch System/Transmission Failure 1st Occurrence: Driving on the highway one evening at 65 mph in July of 2021. The engine began revving and the clutch was no longer functional. The engine would rev and there was no ability for me to accelerate. The vehicle decelerated placing myself at risk of getting rear ended or side swiped by other vehicles on the highway until coming to an eventual stop on the side of the highway. The vehicle was no longer operational and was towed to the nearest Honda dealership which was John Eagle Honda. The inspection, service, and repair should be available for review at John Eagle Honda. 2nd Occurrence: May of 2023. As I was making a left turn, the clutch slipped significantly and the engine revved however, the clutch was still engaging but, acceleration was significantly hindered and increased the risk of getting into an accident as I was not able to pick up speed quick enough. The vehicle was serviced and repaired at David McDavid Honda of Irving in May of 2023. 3rd Occurrence: June of 2024. I was driving on the road when I noticed that the clutch was experiencing some slight slippage. Overall the vehicle was stable and it didn't cause much of an issue but, it was similar to what had happened previously. I still was not able to accelerate as I normally could. It still poses a risk of getting into an accident and hinders my ability to maneuver quickly if needed. The vehicle was service and repaired by David McDavid Honda. In either of these occurrences there was warning light indicators or other symptoms prior to the failures and slippage. John Eagle Honda of Dallas and David McDavid Honda of Irving are dealer centers. The vehicle was serviced by John Eagle 1 time and David McDavid Honda of Irving two times. In a span of 3 years. 3 clutch failures and the vehicle is under 43,000 miles. The dealers stated no recalls out on my vehicle and that everything is fine otherwise.
Gas door opens randomly and it’s happened more than a few times now which is becoming a safety hazard especially because I drive 80 miles daily for work. Also my automatic brake senor is a hazard because it’s going off when cars or objects are farther away; which leads to the 3rd issue with my seat belts which is either to tight on the chest area and possibly choking me when the car automatically brakes when objects aren’t near or in close distance to my car
Paint on car is starting to crack and peel.
Today while driving at highway speeds of 75MPH my car once again lost power. The RPM’s go up and the speed keeps decreasing. I had to pull over on the interstate and shut my car off and turn it back on after awhile to get it to run again. I 100% feel that this issue is related to the fuel pump recall and this vehicle needs to be added to that list. It is a danger to be driving on the Interstate and lose power like that. One of these times someone is going to hit me on the side of the road. This is about the 20th time or more this has happened to me.
On [XXX], 2023, my car's electrical system malfunctioned, leaving me unable to restart the vehicle after stopping. I had to call my car insurance for roadside assistance, and their representative jump-started the battery, suggesting I replace it. However, on [XXX], 2024, the same issue recurred, causing the car to stall unexpectedly and fail to start while I was out shopping with my wife and [XXX] daughter. Fortunately, I was driving on local roads; I shudder to think what might have happened if I had been on the freeway. Again, I had to rely on my insurance's roadside assistance for help. The safety of my family and me was jeopardized, especially since this is our only vehicle, which we frequently use to travel with my infant. These incidents are documented in two insurance claims. My car is among those recalled for fuel pump issues, but I haven't been able to schedule a repair with the dealer due to no available appointments. The online chat support also refused to book an appointment for the same reason. Additionally, my car has always adhered to Honda's regular maintenance schedule. From March 2024 to May 2024, the car's display screen, including the mileage indicator, intermittently malfunctioned while driving. On [XXX], 2024, when the car stalled, the screen also indicated a brake system error. Finally, I want to report another issue with this car: the cooling system is no longer providing cold air, resulting in the interior temperature being consistently higher than the outside temperature, especially during the recent hot summer days. The body control module is failing, read multiple posts online and Honda is not fixing it. My alarm goes off and I cannot turn it off, have to use my key. The vehicle powers up on its own into accessory mode when parked, vehicle off and no key fob in the car. This causes the alarm to activate, drains the battery and causes temporary safety features- collision warning, lane assist, cruise control etc to not work. As well as drains the battery. Honda has recalled this part on other models but not the 10th generation Civic.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda Civic. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V064000 (Air Bags) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
I financed this car 3 months ago, and I received a safety recall notice from Honda. Unfortunately, they don't have the necessary part until 2025. As a result, I've been unable to rent out the car on Toro for the past 2 months to make finance payments. Additionally, due to a previous car accident, I don't feel safe driving the car, which causes me anxiety. Now, I'm unsure what steps to take. I want to return the car without negatively impacting my credit score, as this situation is not my fault. I'm losing both money and payments because of the recall, and the car can't be fixed until 2025.
my car has been grinding ever since I purchased the car. The vehicle only had 17,000 miles when I bought it. I took it to Honda of Hollywood and let them know that my car was grinding and they said that I needed to change my brakes. I changed my brakes and went back to the dealership and they said I needed to sand the rotors. I went to get my rotors repaired and my car was still grinding. I went back to the dealership and they said nothing was wrong with the car. I don't hear any other Honda grinding like my car. On the freeway my car is rattling. The tires in the back of my car move around they are not straight. I looked under my car and noticed that the wheel bearing is broken. I don't think the dealership should be putting my life in jeopardy like that when my car was under warranty when I reported the issue.i need help.
I was driving on 4/24/23 going 75 MPH. The car made a rev up noise and be RPM’s suddenly increased and the speed was decreasing. The car was losing power. I had to pull over to the side of the road and shut the car off and let it sit for awhile. The. When I started it back up it ran fine. This is a safety issue as I had to pull over on the highway and sit on the shoulder and could have been hit. No lights came on the dash at this time.

Once again the car loses ability to accelerate after driving at highway speeds and driving for about an hour. The car won’t accelerate and has to be turned off and has to sit for awhile. Sometimes the car struggles to start back up. This may happen several times when I drive. This is a safety issue as the car isn’t reliable and can’t just not accelerate on the highway. I feel this is related to the fuel pump recall and that my kind of civic needs to be included in this.
Phantom braking, has occurred over a dozen times. Caused me to spill hot coffee all over my face and neck causing mild burns.
Again while driving at highway speeds the vehicle loses power. This is about the 10th time all this has happened. We have to pull over and turn the car off and let it sit for awhile. This time the oil light and the battery lights came on on the dash and then the air bag light and the electric power steering. After turning it off the car had a little trouble starting and then all the lights went away. This is my teenagers car and needs to be safe and reliable. I think this car needs to be included in the recent fuel pump recall.
Car loses power when driving at highway speeds after driving for about 45 minutes. The car won’t accelerate when this happens and shows no warning signs on the dash. The only way to get the car to run right is to turn it off and wait for about 15-30 min and then start it again. Sometimes this happens 3 times in a trip and when it happens is random but always at highway speeds. This makes the car unreliable and unsafe. I see some Honda civics have a recall for this issue but mine does not. I feel mine needs included in that recall to fix the problem and make the car safe as the problem has occurred multiple times. Have brought the car to a Honda dealer and it threw no codes so they couldn’t fix anything but I have read a faulty fuel pump throws no codes.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda Civic. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V064000 (Air Bags) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that the parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was contacted, and the contact was advised to go to the dealer to pay for the recall repair out of pocket and then be reimbursed. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
In a Walmart parking lot I bumped into a curb stone with the left front tire at low speed (5 mph?). The passanger side air bag went off and blew out the windhield. I do not believe the air bag should have deployed at such a low speed. There was no damage to the car body. Total cost for replacing the air bag, windshield and both front seat belts was around $3,500.

Was T bones September 3rd 2023 exiting the freeway by a Ford F-350. Injury to left side of vehicle mainly . Airbags not side airbags deployed. Went through insurance and was told to report it to the manufacturer. Due to this I now need double knee surgery as I have tears and fluid and now have spinal injury .
PLEASE SE CASES 14345966, CASE 14345965 AND CASE 11565182.The report submitted verbally to NHTSA CASE 11565182 took place on 01/12/2023 at approximately 12:17pm. At one point, I requested from Ms. Lisa (NHTSA assistant) to read again back to me the particular report and she did. Consequently, I realized some miss interpretations. Therefore, I’m submitting this new information in order to be as accurate as possible. At approximately 49000 miles the air conditioning was checked and presented low in fluid. The system was refilled and the same problem reoccurred at approximately 52000 miles. On 12/29/2023 the vehicle was brought to be checked at Freeway Honda. The vehicle presents several different air conditioning leaks according to freeway Honda. It follows: A. Leak at A/C CONDENSER WA B. Leak at A/C COMPRESSOR SH C. Leak at EVAPORATOR. At one particular point, freeway Honda indicated that 2 of out of the 3 leaks would be covered under warranty. The particular freeway Honda dealer refused to fix the 2 A/C leaks unless if I would pay out of pocket the amount of $1,929.89+TAX to fix the 3rd leak as well. Furthermore, they charged me the amount of $175.00 to check for the leaks which should be covered under extended warranty. THE CAR HAS FACTORY A/C PROBLEMS PREVIOUSLY REPORTED BY THE HONDA AUTOMOBILE DIVISION. THERE ARE MORE PROBLEMS WHICH ALSO EXISTS AND IT SHOULD BE TAKEN UNDER CONSIDERATION. INITIALLY, HONDA STARTED EXTENDING WARRANTY FOR THE AIR CONDENSER. THEN, FOR THE COMPRESSOR. HOWEVER, THERE IS MUCH MORE. “The Civic AC systems are allegedly unable to withstand the pressures when circulating the R-1234yf coolant. Multiple air conditioning components allegedly cannot handle the pressure, including the condensers, compressors, evaporators and discharge and suction lines”. than the current used refrigerant, it is potentially dangerous as it is flammable and ignites 405 º C. When flammable- it also emits hydrogen fluoride- DANGEROUS SUBSTANCE FOR THE HUMAN HEALTH.
WHEN RIDING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT THE SPEED OF 70 MPH THE CAR SLAMMED ON BRAKES ALL BY ITSELF, ALMOST CAME TO A STOP AND THEN EVERYTHING WENT BACK TO NORMAL . i AM AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION OF THE CAR. TSB 22-017 failing clutch on all M/T civic 2020&2021. Failed on highway almost caused severe accident. Honda is refusing to repair/replace under warranty.
Over the last few months, I noticed that the vehicle had poor acceleration when merging onto the highway. When I tried to accelerate, the RPMs shot up as the turbo kicked in, but the car did not move any faster. Previous to this, I had trouble getting the car into 1st while sitting still (50+ times). The final incident occurred during a short trip to a local store. The engine revved high and I couldn't get over 35MPH. Upon stopping, there was a burning smell coming from the car. I was able to drive it a short distance to a local transmission shop which diagnosed clutch failure. I purchased the car new from a Honda dealer in 2020 and am the only person to drive the car. There are only 70k miles on the car and everyone that I've talked to was surprised that it went out so soon. I don't abuse the clutch (never burned one out before even while living in the mountains). I see that I'm not the only one who has had this issue. Honda should issue a recall and reimburse the owners affected by this defect.
A lot of times the warning collision on dash will flash to “BRAKE” when going through caution lights usually around fire stations and also approaching steel bridges… I don’t know if it sees the steel deck and thinks it’s a car, but whenever I get in my car, I deactivate the automatic emergency braking system because I don’t want it to automatically brake for me like it’s done in the past.
While driving 20 mile/hr. the car's steering wheel got extremely stiff and difficult to steer. Made an appointment with Hoda Village to fix the issue. After diagnosis, service manager told me that it was rates chowing on electric harness and informed me this was not covered under warranty. Repair cost me about $700.00. Unfortunately, now the same issue is occurring, I have check all over the engine and don't see any rodent caused harness issues. Again, I called the dealer and spoke to service manager explaining the situation, they indicated I need to pay additional diagnostic charge plush any parts/labor. It's unacceptable what the dealer is telling me. This issue is extremely dangerous, to my safety and others as it may cause serious injury or death.
Purchased the vehicle on 3/5/2022 with less than 10k miles on it. Within the first 2 months of driving the vehicle, the infotainment screen would freeze while driving and reset. One of these occurrences happened while driving on the highway at which time when the screen froze, turned a different color, and all the lights on the dashboard turned on simultaneously resulting in me not having control of the vehicle mechanics. This lasted for a few seconds, however, driving at a speed of 65 mph without control of the vehicle mechanics was and is extremely dangerous which could have resulted in an accident causing damage, injury, and death. This occurrence happened a total of three times. After a few months owning the vehicle on the first attempt utilized the key fob to lower my windows which resulted in the battery draining and the vehicle inoprable. Since my vehicle is my kids and my only mode or transportation I had to go to the nearest open Autozone to purchase a new battery. Mind you this was on a Sunday night about 9:00 pm so I had to catch an Uber to the nearest open store about 25 miles away. Once I returned home I replaced the battery and the car started at which time I called it a night. The next morning when leaving home for work and taking kids to school the Infotainment Screen was frozen with a black Honda logo as well as a manlfunction with the reverse and side camera. I have taken my vehicle to the local Honda dealer twice on a Saturday since this is the only available free time I have, however, on both occasions both Service Associates conveyed they had not heard of this malfunction previously and that the vehicle would need a diagnostic test I could not afford. The incident occurred on 5/24/23.

The car has a problem where the clutch prematurely wears out and the cars acceleration cuts out. this happens at different RPM ranges and in all gears. it is very unpredictable. Several others have had to repair their drivetrains and honda claims its due to a production issue with the clutch. they have a dealer service bulletin for this issue however Honda needs to recall the part since this problem doesn't come on gradually. it is a sudden loss of a connection in the drivetrain which has caused several issues merging on the highway.
The contact owned a 2020 Honda Civic. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 MPH, the vehicle was on cruise control, and the vehicle slowed down as if the contact had depressed the brake pedal. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated or warning chime sounded. The contact crashed into a truck and bounced off the side of the truck and the vehicle hit the highway divider at the front end of her vehicle and came to a stop. The contact stated that only one side air bag had been deployed. The contact stated that the police and emergency services arrived but she did not seek medical treatment. The vehicle was towed to an impound lot and later declared a total loss by the contact's insurance provider. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The contact had researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V458000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The failure mileage was approximately 25,000.
Safety Concerns, see attached file.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda Civic. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 MPH, the steering wheel began to independently turn to the right and the left. The contact stated that the “Steering” and "Lane Departure" warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the steering wheel had become more difficult to turn. The contact stated that the steering failure was intermittent but had become a recurring failure. Additionally, the contact stated there was an abnormal gasoline and burned engine oil odor inside the cabin of the vehicle. The contact state that she had been noticing the odor for about a month. The contact also stated that the vehicle was overheating and was felt inside the foot wells. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that there were no failures found. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,776.
When turning the steering wheel, there is a clicking sound and a notchy feeling where the steering wheel seems to become stuck for a split second when making steering adjustments. It is worse when turning to the right but happens when turning left as well. During high speed driving such as the highway or roads above 45 mph, this can cause issues with maintaining the car's direction and leads to overcorrecting when the wheel becomes stuck and then breaks loose causing dangerous swerving into nearby lanes. The vehicle has never been in an accident and has not had any modifications. The problem arose around the 30k mile mark and has gotten progressively worse. The issue has not been inspected by any organization or separate party yet. There are no warning lights of error codes showing, only the sound and the feeling of the sticky steering. Component is available for inspection upon request.
Paint defects
Sunroof made loud noise and suddenly shattered without any warning while on freeway.
The steering wheel sticks at times. Driving straight and in turns. It's a slight stick, but increasingly more noticeable. While driving straight it happens if I don't touch the wheel for a few seconds. Then I'll need to make a minor correction and it's stuck. I have to put some decent pressure on the wheel to make it unstuck, which causes an over-correction. If i steadily make corrections it doesn't stick. Same in a turn. If I am making a slow or wide turn, wheel stays in same position for a second, it doesn't just roll out of the turn easily. I have to force it to come out of the turn. Again once it's unstuck it feels fine. Leaving it in one position for more than a second or two initiates the stuck
The contact owns a 2022 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed, and the contact heard an abnormal clicking sound. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 53,049.
I mainly am reaching out due to my brakes making a very loud creaking noise when breaking. I wanted to see if there were any recalls for brakes on my car so I could have the dealership fix it for free. The car is fairly new and I don’t think the brakes would sound like a old wood bridge creaking when I brake. Please let me know if there are any recalls on this vehicle related tot he issue. Thank you for you time and consideration to this message.
Bought my 2020 Honda Civic si at 48 k miles. Noticed mild clutch slip and vibration on the shift knob. Dealership states I don't know how to drive manual transmission. I've driven manual transmission for 18 years. I'm not stupid. Dealership states it's wear and tear and not part of the warranty. My window motor auto feature does not work. Bluetooth connectivity issues. Collision braking system activated with no vehicle in front of me while I was going 40 miles an hour. Could have been rear ended. I'm at 50k miles not a good buy and bad service from the dealership. Mossy Honda lemon grove ca
The contact owns a 2020 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle was drifting to the left. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that after a while, the contact started to hear an abnormal ticking sound coming from the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to a dealer and was informed that the power steering rack was defective and needed to be replaced; however, the part needed for the repair the vehicle was on backorder. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown. The VIN was not available.
On March 29, 2023 around 6:30PM on my way home from work, my car stopped me in the middle of I-78. The engine just kept revving when i push the accelerator but won't move forward. I was able to safely pull over to the side. No warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem noted prior to the failure. The following day (March 30, 2023), I dropped off my car to Planet Honda at 2285 US-22, Union, NJ 07083. Tel #'s: (866)226-2469; (609)236-2393. Then, I was informed that the transmission is broken or cannot be fixed, and a new transmission (Part #: 06200-5DJ-040-RM) were ordered and was told that it is covered by warranty. It's been 67 days now (2 months and 6 days) that Honda Corporate cannot give me the timeframe when will my car be repaired after numerous conversations from calls, and texts. My Case Number Honda Corporate Customer Service gave me is: 13736133.
On 4-23-23 the altenator belt came off of the car when I was driving down the road there was nothing wrong with the belt and the belt was put back on the car and i am concerned with my safety I have a 2020 Honda Civic Sport with 12,600 on the car when the belt came off Now i am afraid to drive my car
My infotainment center has repeatedly failed during operation. It is distorted while driving, freezes, stuck on previous screen display. This causes all safety features to be inoperable. I can’t see the camera back up display. I can’t see the map or upcoming exit/next direction. The Honda genius features are impacted by this. My vehicle suddenly thinks I am exiting while I’m driving and randomly slams on breaks with no vehicle or object in front of me, it jerks my wheel even though there is no car or barrier next to me. I have resorted to turn off all of the safety features due to the infotainment center glitches making my vehicle very unsafe to operate. I have been in several near miss single vehicle accidents. Picture added to show screen distortion and no direction listed. Should be displaying navigation and upcoming turn but is frozen and distorted.
I purchased a brand new 2020 Honda Civic SI in April 2020. Around 24,000 miles, the clutch started slipping. I took the vehicle into a Honda dealership where I purchased the vehicle and was informed the clutch assembly failed and the cost of the repair was $4,400. The dealership told me it was due to abuse of the clutch and clutches are considered wear and tear items so I would be responsible for the entire repair. I have owned 10 manual transmission vehicles prior to this Civic and I have never burned out a clutch--I was able to get more than 125,000 miles from one of my cars before the clutch had to be replaced. There are 15 complaints on this site regarding clutches wearing out on 2020 Honda Civics so could this be a problem on Honda's end. I placed several calls to American Honda customer service and their response is always the same, they don't see a problem with their clutches so they are not going to reimburse me for the repair. After many calls to the dealer, they finally agreed to cover 50% of the repair so ended up paying around $2,300.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda Civic. The contact stated that the weather stripping on the vehicle was previously replaced several times, in addition to the under carriage. The contact also stated that the driver's side door panel was detaching from the door. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who used physical force to move the door panel into place. The dealer informed the contact that the vehicle could not be repaired free of charge because it was out of warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the dealer needed to send a diagnostic report and estimate for consideration to cover the repair. The failure mileage was unknown.
Yesterday I was driving my 2020 civic when my sunroof exploded spontaneously. I have dash cam(front and rear facing video) showing exactly what happened. No debris hit the car, no bumps were hit, and driving conditions were perfect. I know for a fact that this happened without any reason and I looked into it and there is currently a class action lawsuit with Honda about this problem. There is a problem in the manufacturing process that caused this and should be fixed.
My car is have problems with wheel blance I don’t know why 1 year I have to took my car for alignment 2 or 3 times. It is something really wrong with the spring and the wheel blance.
Power windows rolled down on their own
The contact owns a 2020 Honda Civic. The contact stated while pressing the key fob to unlock the doors, the doors remained locked. The contact had to manually unlock the doors. The contact attempted to lock the vehicle with the key fob however, the doors failed to lock as needed. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 28,000.
Car won’t crank keep saying anti brake system lock
Can turn engine off but goes into accessories mode and cannot be turned off. Drains battery. This has happened repeatedly. Only option is to disconnect battery every time after you drive and reconnect before starting. Also, navigation goes blank/black while driving.
THE STEERING IS VERY STICKY. IT CATCHES MOSTLY TO THE LEFT AND WILL HOLD ITS POSITION TAKING YOU INTO OTHER LANE UNLESS YOU YANK IT BACK. IT STARTED ONLY AT HIGH SPEEDS NOW IT DOES IT ALL THE TIME. CAR SEEMS TO PULL TO LEFT IF YOU HAVE HAND ON WHEEL BUT GOES STRAIGHT IF YOU LET GO. IT WILL CATCH AND DART SHARPLY IN AND OUT OF LANES WITH THE SLIGHTEST MOVE. NOT ENJOYABLE DRIVING AT ALL.THERES BEEN NO WARNING LIGHTS OF ANY KIND. I GOT CAR AT 45000 MILES AND THIS STARTED AT 50000.DONT KNOW IF ITS RACK OR STEERING MOTOR BUT IT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED.CAUSES EXTREMLY ERATIC DRIVING.SO DAYS ITS ALMOST UNDRIVABLE.
Hello. I have a 2020 Honda Civic Hatchback Sport. The stock audio system makes a VERY loud crackle and popping sound before completely cutting out, this abrupt malfunction frightens me and hurts my ears. Additionally the malfunction of this audio unit may cause other safety problems because it is connected to the back-up camera which can freeze/reboot randomly when the electrical/software malfunction occurs. I listed the most recent incident date below however this problem has been intermittent since I purchased the car new in 2020. My car is now out of warranty and Honda refuses to address the issue even though it was present before 36,000/3 years. Thank you.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda Civic. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the steering wheel inadvertently seized, causing him to temporarily lose control of the vehicle. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle; however, the failure persisted. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to his residence nearby using his physical strength to steer the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the electrical wiring harness had been chewed by rodents, which caused the electrical failure. The contact notified a second unknown dealer for second opinion, and the second dealer advised that the failure could also be a manufacturing defect. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.
Manual transmission slipping when Turbo kicks in and you are unable to accelerate. We are contacting dealer tomorrow as they are closed. No warning lights on Just started happening .
The contact owns a 2020 Honda Civic. The contact stated that on several occasions when driving at various speeds, he sets the cruise control then it inadvertently engaged without warning. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle was not engaging in speed when accelerated. The contact notified an independent mechanic and was informed to have the vehicle diagnosed by a dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The dealer nor the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 49,000.
I was driving getting ready to switch lanes and all of a sudden my car made the beeping noise and slammed on the brakes on its own
2nd incident of clutch failure within a year and both almost caused a serious accident.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda Civic. The contact stated that occasionally the windows on the vehicle independently rolled down while the vehicle was turned off. The contact also stated that while driving at various speeds, the trunk opened inadvertently without warning. The dealer had been notified twice about the failure. After the first failure, a dealer employee acknowledged the failure; however, the contact was informed that there was no remedy for the defect. After the second failure, a dealer employee informed her that they had never heard of the failure before. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
When driving at highway speeds with adaptive cruise control, vehicle will slow down or brake without any object/vehicle ahead. This usually occurs at curves, with no vehicles in current lane. I would then need to immediately step on the acceleration in order to continue highway speeds. This may cause unnecessary stress on the vehicle due to constant issue occurrence. At times, a blinking warning message from the emergency braking system will appear on the dashboard during these conditions. This causes a safety issue because cars in the back will not expect braking/slowing down when there isn't any obstruction from all perspectives. This is dangerous on the highway due to the increased driving speeds of surrounding vehicles. I have not taken it to the dealer due to the vehicle being out of warranty, however it has always had this issue. Vehicle was bought new at dealership.
The passenger airbag deployed while I was driving at 5mph. Which no crash
i have experienced multiple issues with the sensors since I've had this vehicle in December 2020. The sensor issues have caused my vehicle to shut down and slowly stop as I was driving on the freeway. The latest incident caused my airbag to deploy without any reason while I was driving slowly in a residential parking lot. It went off in my face and I suffered from hearing problems. I am fortunate that this incident did not harm anyone as it put others at risk from the airbag unexpectedly blocking my view and distracting me from driving. Although the dealership, Tempe Honda, repaired the other sensor issues, they refuse to repair the airbag issue. They are claiming that I need to have my insurance pay for the repair. I have had two mechanics inspect the vehicle and confirm that this is a defective airbag sensor that caused the airbag to deploy. I have not driven the vehicle since this incident as it is unsafe for me to drive. The vehicle is available for inspection at any time. I have contacted Honda on multiple occasions. They have Case #12968314 is my case number and every time that I call, the representative tells me that a Case Manager will call me but I have not received any calls. I also sent an email to Honda on 02 May 2022 detailing this incident that occurred on 14 April 2022.
Took vehicle in to repair recall. Was told recall was fixed drove off engine shut off in the middle off the hwy. After several attempts to get the car restarted finally able to drive back to dealership. Was told the new o ring broke. Was told it was fix but the recall is still unresolved and still causing engine shut off issues. No prior issue other than leaving key part off uncer car after routine oil change which caused undercarriage damages. That still unresolved. uncompleted repair and recall.
Lights go off and on not sure if can drive at night. dealer said that they thought it is the control module but also stated that car could turn shut down at any unknown time. Did not offer a replacement vehicle and was told to just keep driving until part comes in. This problem has been going on sense january . was told today 04/21/2022 that it would now be june
The automatic brake system comes on and brakes when there are no cars in front of me. Then when the automatic brakes come on, it is a delay in speeding back up. So my car has slammed on breaks, with people behind me and would not increase speed. I have almost been rear ended twice because of this feature.
With my car just reached over 19k miles the clutch started slipping when driving on highway, problem continued to become more noticeable overtime. Many drivers with the same car have experienced the same issue with clutch slipping.
First tire rotation the inside of both front tires have been worn down. Got tires rotated and alignment done. Second tire rotation and new tires have the same inside wear on them.
Clutch went out at 25k miles - never stalled this car. Have several manual transmission Hondas no problems except this one. Lost engine power and had to pull over on the highway. manufacturer error causing pre mature burnt clutch. This should not be happening. Honda will not take responsibility
The automated emergency braking system activated bringing me to a sudden and complete stop. I was traveling at a lower speed (<20mph) with sufficient space both in front and behind my vehicle which prevented this incident from becoming an accident. This occurred at night. The braking system automatically engaged as I was releasing my foot from the gas pedal to coast. Should this happen at higher speeds or with traffic closer behind me, an accident could have happened. The system has not been inspected as of now and has not been reproduced or occurred a second time. There have not been any warning lights, messages, or other issues with the car since I bought it brand new.
On multiple occasions, the collision mitigation braking system has had false-positive detections. There is one section of road where this occurs extremely frequently (maybe 20% of the time I drive through). On this section of road, it will not activate the brakes, it only beeps and displays "BRAKE" on the instrument cluster, but is extremely disconcerting and distracting. On another occasion on a different road, there was clear road ahead of me when the collision mitigation braking system had a false detection, and did activate the brakes and was incredibly close to causing a collision with a car driving behind me. On this same stretch of road, Ive had this occur two other times (out of hundreds I've driven on it), but no one was behind me and would not have caused an accident. In both of these spots, the road is fairly straight and the speed limit is 40 MPH. This hasn't been inspected by a dealer. This hasn't been inspected by Honda, the police, or insurance. There were no prior warnings to this issue occurring.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda Civic equipped with a manual transmission. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the vehicle started losing motive power and was also shaking. Additionally, the clutch pedal was going to the floorboard. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact was able to pull off to the side of the road. The contact was able to restart the vehicle; however, the vehicle failed to move while depressing the clutch pedal. The contact smelled a burning odor coming from the clutch. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the manual clutch had burned out and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to a second dealer - Moss Bros. Honda (27990 Eucalyptus Ave, Moreno Valley, CA 92555) where it was diagnosed that the clutch pedal needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then taken to a transmission specialist who took the transmission apart and provided the same diagnostic. The contact stated that the clutch pedal was replaced; however, the failure persisted and the transmission continuously independently jumped out of gear while driving. The vehicle was taken back to the transmission specialist where it was diagnosed that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then taken back to the first dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the vehicle stalled while driving. The vehicle was towed to the first dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact also referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V215000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The manufacturer was notified of the failure but did not provide any assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 4,950.
The automatic braking system for my car went off in the middle lane of a 3 lane highway. luckily there was no cars driving around me so i was not hit. It sensed something and dropped my speed from 55 to 20 in a couple seconds throwing me forward. If not for my seatbelt and my arms my face could have hit the steering wheel. This happened multiple times.
Warning light appeared on dashboard for obstructed radar sensor. Sensor was not obstructed. This was followed by additional warning lights that safety systems were malfunctioning, ACC, collision warning, automatic emergency braking systems are offline. Reported to local dealer.
I hit a cow going 55mph on a state highway, and my airbags did not deploy.
I was driving and the passenger air exploded.
I was driving down the road and all of a sudden I heard a large explosion and pulled back the moonroof visor a little and could see the glass was all spiderwebbed and closed it again, I was about 3 miles from home and had my 80+ mother in the car so I got home before looking at the damage and found a huge blow out of my Moonroof glass. Not sure if it was a stone or something that hit it or if it just blew out spontaneously, was a frightening situation.
The contact owned a 2020 Honda Civic. The contact's son was driving the vehicle at 30 mph and while making a right turn, the vehicle failed to turn to cause the driver to crash into a city bus head-on. The air bags on the driver's side and the passenger side did deploy but did not fully inflate. The contact's son and passenger were not taken to the hospital or received medical treatment. The contact's son later went to seek medical attention and was found to have suffered a concussion. The passenger in the front seat hit his head on the windshield and also did seek medical attention. The police were on the scene and filed a report. The vehicle was declared a total loss by the contact's insurance company. The vehicle was towed to an impound lot. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.

While utilizing the turn signal, the screen options were not available. The contact stated that the shocks and struts became inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the shocks needed to be replaced. The contact mentioned the mechanic broke the suspension while attempting to perform the repairs. The vehicle was repaired however, the contact continued to experience a failure. The manufacturer was notified however, no further assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 9,000. The VIN was not available.
In early October 2021, my inforainment display screen stooped working. As a consequence, my rear view, and right side view cameras no longer show on the display screen. This has become a safety issue for me because I cannot see if other vehicles are in the right lane when I am planning to change to the right lane, or planning to make a right turn. Also, I can no longer rely on my rear view camera when I am trying to back out of a parking spot, or my driveway. I took my car back to the dealer, and they told me that this HAS NOT been reported by other 2020 Honda Civic owners. They also told me that they need to order the part to repair it, but that it will take 2-6 weeks for the part to arrive. It has now been over 12 weeks and the part has not arrived. During the past 12 weeks, there were a few times where other drivers had to blow their horns at me as I tried to pass into the right lane. I have also had a few close encounters with pedestrians while I was backing out of a parking lot in shopping centers. Have any other 2020 Honda Civic owners reported problems with their infotainment display screens not working? Thank you
Stopped at a red light, I was rear ended by a car going 30-35 mph and pushed into the car in front of me. The driver seat was in a reclining position after impact, I was sitting up when hit and wound up laying almost to the back seat after impact but the airbag never deployed causing my stomach to hit the steering wheel.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda Civic. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the Forward Collision-Avoidance Automatic Emergency Braking erroneously activated causing the vehicle to abruptly stop. The contact indicated that the failure had occurred on eight separate occasions while driving between 5 and 65 MPH. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 7,000.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while driving at 60 MPH, the vehicle ahead of him attempted to make a right turn. Although his vehicle was at a safe distance from the vehicle ahead, the Forward Collision-Avoidance feature independently engaged, and the warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact stated that the feature did not recognize that the vehicle was making a turn and that the abrupt stoppage could have caused a rear-end collision with the vehicle behind him. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 12,300.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while the vehicle was in park in the driveway idling and unattended with the emergency brake engaged, the vehicle rolled down the driveway and crashed into a tree. There were no reported injuries, no police report, fire or air bag deployment. The vehicle was towed to an independent repair shop. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified however no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owned a 2020 Honda Civic equipped with Continental tires, Tire line: Conti Pro Contact, Tire size: 235/40/R18, and DOT number: af2rwd3w. The contact stated while driving at 75 MPH, the rear passenger side tire blew out suddenly which the vehicle started to drift to the right of the road and go over and crash into a medium near oncoming traffic. The contact was able to place a spare tire on the vehicle for the contact to continue to drive to their residence. The contact took the vehicle to an auto body shop that inspected the vehicle and declared the vehicle a total loss. The contact was concerned that the failure that occurred with the vehicle was a defect on the tire that had blown out. The tires were the original equipment on the vehicle The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 11,045.
Drivers rear side tire had a blow involving the tread flying off exactly at the seam it is attached to the tire. This couldn't caused an accident or death to myself or other drivers on the road. These tires were purchased on the vehicle brand new in Sept 19 2020. The accident happened September 15 2021. The vehicle is brand new as well. The other Goodyear eagle sport tires on the vehicle had bubbles which would lead to another blowout. The car has under 25k miles. The car has had oil changes, etc per car doc agreement. There is something wrong with the integrity of the rubber of the tire or they are retreading and selling retreaded tires as new. My son decided with the knowledge of the tire mechanic, to replace all Goodyear tires due to the safety hazard they could create. He had to replace 3 tires.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda Civic. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the lane departure assist steered the vehicle into traffic or over the lines randomly due to a possible object being in the roadway. The beeping sound, visual detection, and lane departure message were displayed. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 120. The VIN was not available.
Breaking mitigation or control system was defective, seat belt didn't work properly and involuntary breaking led to incident in which face hit the steering wheel, leading to injury. The problems were evaluated by the dealership but they denied there were problems, and there were not other parties that evaluated the car. There were some warning lights that came on several weeks in advance of the involuntary breaking.
My steering wheel was not aligned after multiple services. I also heard a weird sound coming from the left of the car. Moreover, I feel like the car is not even and pulling to the left. Therefore, I bought this car for about a year and I need to do alignment 3 times. It is strange because the new car cannot so many problems unless the car is lemon.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda Civic. The contact stated while driving 40 mph, he heard an abnormal buzzing and grinding sound coming from underneath the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who informed the contact that they could not duplicate the failure. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred while driving. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer several times, but the dealer was not able to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was then taken to Curry Honda Chicopee (767 Memorial Dr, Chicopee, MA 01020) who informed the contact that they could not duplicate the failure. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who test drove the vehicle and diagnosed that the abnormal sound was coming from the transmission at the main shaft bearing. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 8,000.
Driving at roughly 6mph in a parking lot when my passenger side airbag randomly deployed. Resulted in shattered windshield, damage to dash, seat belts not working properly. Vehicle was not and has not been in any accident. No damage to the vehicle.
We purchased our 2020 Honda Civic Si on Jan 16, 2021 with 20 miles on the car. On June 29, 2021 while driving the car it failed to shift into 2nd/3rd. It stopped shifting altogether and we pulled off to see if stopping and starting may fix the issue. Apparently the clutch had blown out as the car wouldn’t even start. We had it towed up to Honda Dealership we purchased it from. They claim that the clutch “exploded” and wouldn’t cover it under warranty even though we have a power train warranty (and even an extended warranty). A clutch should not “explode” after less than 6,000 miles on a car. We drove in normal driving conditions. Online we see this issue repeated around.
Twice within a one week period, some type of animal, most likely a rodent, ate through my power steering harness rendering all safety features on the car inoperable. The car was undriveable as the steering wheel could not be turned. The dealership advised that the wiring for this vehicle is made of soy which is a food source for animals. Honda is aware of this issue and now stocks rodent tape to use over the wires. Honda should not be building automobiles with soy based wiring. No other vehicle sin my lot were affected--just mine because it was a Honda. I have the harnesses from the dealership showing where they were chewed on. The dealership is aware of other customers with this same problem. It is most definitely a safety hazard. Wires that were not completely chewed through could fail while the car is operating causing injury and/or fatality. This issue has existed for several years with Honda and they have not changed their manufacturing. Class action lawsuits were necessary. These vehicles should be recalled for replacement of a power steering harness that is not made of soy. My complaint to Honda was given a case number, but I have not been provided any status even after calling for same.
The contact leased a 2020 HONDA CIVIC. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the instrument panel would intermittently display images over the speedometer which would obstruct his ability to see his current rate of speed. The contact had brought the vehicle to the dealer where they informed him to document the failure and tried multiple repairs; however, the failure persisted after each repair. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and offered no assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 200.
Driving on the freeway was downshifting from 6th gear to 5th gear and the shifter locked up snd i could not shift into any gears except neutral. At a high speed i had to coast to the shoulder of the freeway. Luckily i was near an exit. Once i was stopped i tried to turn off and turn the car back on but i still was unable to shift the car into any gear
The contact owns a 2020 Honda Civic. The contact stated while stationary, the vehicle rolled backwards and hit a wall. The contact stated that the vehicle was equipped with a manual transmission. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with the parking brakes. The vehicle was towed and diagnosed but not yet repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 9,000.
The clutch in my 2020 Honda Civic si started slipping at 8k miles. Please look into defects related to clutch/flywheel/CMC/transmission
The contact owns a 2020 Honda Civic. The contact stated while inspecting and changing the oil, he noticed an excessive gasoline smell within the oil. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed, the dealer stated gas in the oil is normal and to bring the car back after driving around a thousand miles. The mechanic changed the oil. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The technician informed the contact that he would need to speak with the manufacturer for a further option for the repair. The manufacturer was contacted by the technician and was informed that the VIN was not under recall and that the vehicle was performing as designed. The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the oil dilution failure. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V215000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) as a possible solution to the failure however, the vin was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided a case number 12258099 for the Vin [XXXXXX]. The mechanic confirmed oil level to be slightly elevated 12-14MM above full mark, tech contacted tech line re#4404999. Manufacturer stated within normal operating standards. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximate 11,000. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).”
THE CONTACT OWNS A 2020 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNDISCLOSED SPEED, THE MANUAL CLUTCH FAILED TO ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO SHIFT ABOVE 2ND GEAR WHILE ENTERING THE HIGHWAY. THE CONTACT REVVED THE ENGINE HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THOUSAND OAKS HONDA (3925 AUTO MALL DR, THOUSAND OAKS, CA 91362, (805) 601-7301) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FLYWHEEL INSIDE THE CLUTCH WAS DAMAGED HOWEVER, THE PART FOR THE REPAIR WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OPENED A CAUSE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY ABUSING THE CLUTCH. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,400.
OUR PASSENGER SEAT AIRBAG DOES NOT WORK WHEN I SIT IN THE SEAT. OUR HONDA DEALER HAS SAID THERE COMPUTER DOES NOT SEE A PROBLEM WE DETERMINED THAT I MAY NOT MEET THE WEIGHT ALLOWANCE AS I WEIGH ABOUT 88-90 LBS. WE HAVE COMPLAINED TO THE AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR COMPANY AND WERE TOLD THEY WOULD GET BACK TO US BUT THAT WAS NEARLY A MONTH AGO.. ALL OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAVE SAT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT DID NOT EXPERIENCE THIS PROBLEM AND WE HAVE NOT RECEIVED CLEAR INFORMATION AS TO WHAT THE WEIGHT ALLOWANCE IS FOR THIS CAR. WHEN I SIT IN THE SEAT, THE AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS ON. I AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED ABOUT HONDA'S APPARENT INDIFFERENCE AS WELL AS THE LACK OF SAFETY I FEEL WHEN SITTING IN THAT SEAT. PLEASE LET ME KN OW IF YOU CAN FOLLOW UP ON THIS CONCERN FOR ME. THANK YOU.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2020 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, SEVERAL UNKNOWN SAFETY FEATURES WOULD ACTIVATE AND DEACTIVATE INADVERTENTLY. THE CONTACT STATED SEVERAL UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TONKIN GRESHAM HONDA (24999 SE STARK ST, TROUTDALE, OR 97060, (503) 667-7077) HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS STILL AWAITING A RESPONSE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 3,696.
THIS 2020 HONDA CIVIC SI HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT TROUBLE. FROM THE START I HAD THE WINDSHIELD CRACK ON ME FROM WHAT HONDA SAID WAS A TINY CHIP. I WENT IN TO WORK WITH MY WINDSHIELD SEEMINGLY FINE ONLY TO COME OUT TO A SPIDER WEB SPLIT ALL THE WAY ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD. HONDA WOULD NOT COVER CITING IT TO BE JUST AN 'ACCIDENT' AND I WOULD HAVE TO GET IT FIXED. THE WINDSHIELD ABSOLUTELY HAD TO BE REPLACED WITH FACTORY OEM GLASS DUE TO SAFETY FEATURES WHICH WAS ON BACK ORDER SO I WAS FORCED TO DRIVE AROUND WITH A BROKEN WINDSHIELD FOR CLOSE TO 2 MONTHS. COMPANY THAT INSTALLED GLASS SAID THIS IS BECOMING MORE 'NORMAL' SO TO SAY AS THE GLASS THEY ARE USING IS PAPER THIN IN HIS WORDS. ON TOP OF THAT FROM DAY ONE OF OWNING THE CAR IT HAS THE 'SAFETY' FEATURE OF LANE KEEP ASSIST AND THIS FEATURE WILL LITERALLY PICK UP HEAVY SHADOWS ON THE ROAD FROM POWER LINES AND TRY TO CORRECT YOU AS IF YOU ARE DRIVING OUT OF A LANE! COUNTLESS TIMES I HAVE HAD TO HURRY AND OVER RIDE THE ASSISTANCE JUST TO KEEP IT FROM MAKING ME RUN OFF THE ROAD! HONDA SEVERELY NEEDS TO LOOK INTO THIS ON TOP OF THEIR UNSAFE THIN WINDSHIELDS WHICH CRACK FROM THE TINIEST OF PEBBLES HITTING THEM. ALSO, I JUST HAD TO REPLACE THE CLUTCH AND COMPONENTS IN THIS VEHICLE AFTER JUST 20K MILES AND LESS THAN A YEAR OF OWNING THE VEHICLE. HONDA OFFERED NOTHING BUT A ONE TIME GOOD WILL ASSIST IN PAYING FOR PARTIAL LABOR AND PARTS. THIS STARTED HAPPENING AFTER A NORMAL DRIVE TO WORK ONE DAY WHILE GOING UP A HILL THE CLUTCH STARTED SLIPPING. MADE AN APPOINTMENT AND TOOK THE CAR IN AND WAS TOLD TO PUT ANOTHER 100 MILES ON THE CAR AND BRING BACK TO THEM ALTHOUGH THEY SAID THEY FOUND A TRANSMISSION LEAK AND NEEDED TO FIND THE SOURCE . THIS WAS CERTAINLY VERY UNSAFE AS WHILE DOING THOSE 100 MILES THE CLUTCH COMPLETELY BURNT OUT AND I WAS LEFT STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AND I WAS PUT IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION.
HAS NOT BEEN TAKEN IN YET. HOWEVER THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I EXPERIENCED THIS... DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AT 7AM IN NYS, DOWN SHIFTED FROM 6TH TO 2ND GEARS IN REVERSE SEQUENTIAL ORDER TO USE ENGINE BRAKING. NOTICED AS I WAS GETTING OFF THE EXIT RAMP OF THE HIGHWAY, THAT MY CAR WOULD SHOOT UP TO 6K RPM TO BARELY GO 20 MPH... THIS CLUTCH IS A HUGE PROBLEM FOR ALL CIVIC SI THEY PUT THEM IN. THREE YEARS AGO HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH MY 2017 CIVIC SI. WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS A WEAR ITEM AND WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY...
MY TIRE START HAVE A BUBBLE AND I JUST DRIVE 18800 BUT NOBODY IN BOTH COMPANY HONDA AND FIRESTONE WANT TO WARRANTY FOR ME. I JUST BOUGHT NEW ONE TO REPLACE IT BECAUSE MY SAFETY. TOO MANY PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR RECENTLY.
MULTIPLE ROCK CHIPS CAUSING LARGE STARBURSTS AND CRATERS. LOTS OF OTHER SMALLER NICKS. I HAVE ONLY HAD THE VEHICLE JUST OVER 4 MONTHS. QUALITY AND INTEGRITY OF THE WINDSHIELD IS TERRIBLE. YES I LIVE IN HOUSTON AND YES I UNDERSTAND ROCKS AND THINGS WILL CHIP WINDSHIELDS BUT I HAVE HAD TWO OTHER HONDAS FOR THE LAST 6 YEARS AND NEVER HAD THIS ISSUE. I'M HAVING TO LOOK AT GETTING THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED DUE TO TWO MOST RECENT ONES HAVE BEEN IN THE DRIVER SIGHTLINE.
I BOUGHT THIS CAR ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO. THIS IS NEW HONDA CIVIC 2020 AND IT HAVE 17000 MILES ON THAT NOW. I JUST HAD A FOUR WHEEL ALIGNMENT FOR THIS CAR. HOW COME THE NEW NEED WHEEL ALIGNMENT WHEN IT JUST ABOUT 17,000 MILES. I FEEL UNSAFE IF MY CAR WILL NEED WHEEL ALIGNMENT AGAIN.
ON 24 FEB 2021, WHILE DRIVING DOWN A STATE ROAD AT ABOUT 50 MPH, MY MOONROOF SUDDENLY EXPLODED OUTWARD. THE MOONROOF WAS CLOSED AT THE TIME OF THE EXPLOSION. I HAD NOT PASSED UNDER ANY OVERPASS (DROPPED OBJECT), NOR WAS I PASSING OR HAD I BEEN PASSED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE (THROWN DEBRIS). THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME WAS OVER 200 YARDS AWAY. WHEN THE MOONROOF UNEXPLAINABLY EXPLODED, MOONROOF GLASS WAS THROWN ACROSS MY ROOF AND TRUNK, SCRATCHING THE PAINT. THE REPAIR BILL FROM MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP FOR JUST THE MOONROOF REPAIR WAS $976.66. I FEEL THERE CAN BE NO OTHER EXPLANATION TO THE EXPLODED MOONROOF OTHER THAN SOME TYPE OF DEFECT WITH THE CAR. THE GLASS EXPLODED OUTWARD, AND THE ENTIRE GLASS WAS SHATTERED. IT WAS NOT A "ROCK CHIP" OR OTHER TYPE OF DAMAGE SINCE NOTHING ELSE WAS IN THE AREA.
I WAS IN A WRECK MAY 2020. I SWERVED TO MISS A DEER AND HIT A CONCRETE COLVERT, THE VEHICLE LAUNCHED AND MY AIRBAGS DIDN'T GO OFF. VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE, MY MOTOR, TRANSMISSION, AND TIRES CAME OFF. I SUFFERED FROM SPINAL INJURY AND NERVE DAMAGE.
REAR ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE FAILED WHILE IN PARK. THE VEHICLE HAD THE PARKING BRAKE ENGAGED, AND THE VEHICLE ROLLED DOWN A HILL INTO TREES, DAMAGING THE REAR BUMPER AND HATCH. THIS PARKING BRAKE ISSUE WAS ALSO DOCUMENTED ON EARLIER CIVIC MODELS FROM THIS GENERATION.
TIRE BLEW FROM UNKNOWN REASON IN SEPTEMBER 2020. CAR PURCHASED IN JUNE 2020. REPLACED TIRE IN SEPTEMBER FROM BROOKS HUFF. TPM LIGHT IS NOW COMING ON AFTER A SCHEDULED ROTATION/OIL CHANGE. BROOKS HUFF CHECKED PRESSURE OF ALL 4 TIRES AND LIGHT WAS RESET WITH CALIBRATION. LIGHT CAME BACK ON SAME DAY. TOOK TO HONDA DEALER ON 12/5 IN YORK PA AND WAS ADVISED TPM LIGHT WAS COMING ON DUE TIRE REPLACEMENT IN SEPTEMBER FROM A TIRE MANUFACTURED IN USA NOT FRANCE LIKE OTHER 3 TIRES. DEALER IS SAYING BROOKS HUFF SHOULD HAVE KNOWN TO GET ANOTHER TIRE MADE IN FRANCE AND BROOKS HUFF IS SAYING THEY NEVER HEARD OF THAT. SUCK WITH LIGHT COMING ON BECAUSE ONLY 10K MI ON CAR AND CAN'T AFFORD ANOTHER NEW TIRE AFTER 3 MO.
TRAVELING ALONG A FREEWAY ON A CLEAR DAY, IN FREE FLOWING TRAFFIC, THE ROAD DEPARTURE MITIGATION SYSTEM ENGAGED APPLYING THE BRAKES UNNECESSARILY, LIKELY DUE TO OLD LANE MARKINGS. MY DASHCAM RECORDING SHOWS THE VEHICLE WAS IN NOT IN ANYWAY AT RISK OF DEPARTING THE LANE, OR THE ROAD AND THE SYSTEM ACTIVATING PUT MYSELF, AND OTHER DRIVERS AT RISK.
I HAD JUST PARKED MY VEHICLE ON A CITY STREET, TURN THE VEHICLE OFF. I APPLIED THE ELECTRICAL EMERGENCY BRAKE. THEN MY PHONE RANG AND I TALKED ON MY PHONE FOR ABOUT FIVE MINUTES. I THEN GOT OUT OF MY VEHICLE GRABBED MY BAG FROM THE TRUNK AND STARTED WALKING TOWARDS MY FRIENDS HOUSE. WHEN MY VEHICLES AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKWAS AUTOMATED MY CAR STARTED TO ROLL FORWARD, IT STRUCK A VAN.
HONDA DEALER AND HONDA USA TELL ME THAT MY WIFE (95LBS) IS NOT HEAVY ENOUGH TO ACTIVATE THE PASSENGER AIR BAG AND MAKE THE DASH INDICATOR GO OUT. THE OWNERS MANUAL SAYS (PG47) THAT THE WEIGHT TO ACTIVATE THE AIR BAG IS 65LBS. IS THIS A HONDA PROBLEM ?
WHEN USING THE COLLISION MITIGATION SYSTEM IT WILL FALSELY DETECTS SHADOWS FROM BRIDGES OR TREES AS OBJECTS/VEHICLES IN THE ROAD AND SLAMS ON THE BREAKS. ADDITIONAL THE LANE DEPARTURE WILL TRY TO VEER OFF THE ROAD AT EVERY EXIT IF I AM IN THE RIGHT HAND LANE. BOTH THINGS HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREETS AND THE FREEWAY. THIS HAS MULTIPLE TIMES TO THE POINT WHERE WE HAVE TURNED OFF THE COLLISION MITIGATION AND LANE DEPARTURE. THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED WAS TODAY, 9/19/2020
AS SOON AS I DROVE OFF THE LOT WITH MY BRAND NEW 2020 HONDA CIVIC LX WITH ONLY 13 MILES ON IT I IMMEDIATELY HEARD A THUD COMING FROM THE LEFT SIDE OF THE PASSENGER FRONT TIRE AS TIME WENT ON I STARTED HEARING CLICKING NOISES WHEN I WOULD TURN I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND MENTIONED THE SOUNDA COMING FROM THE FRONT END AND THE DEARLY STATED THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE NOISE. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND THE SOUND HAVE BECOME MORE AND MORE FREQUENTLY NOTICEABLE I RETURNED IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD I NEED A NEW AXEL. NOW I AM TOLD I HAVE TO DRIVE IT FOR ANOTHER 10-15 DAYS LIKE THIS DUE TO A NATIONAL BACK ORDER I AM CONCERNED FOR MY SAFTY. THIS IS A BRAND NEW CAR THAT I AM INVESTING IN AND SHOULD NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT ANY OF THESE SAFTY ISSUES WHILE I AM ON THE ROAD TO WORK.
WE WERE TRAVELING EAST ON HWY 63 GOING HOME. THE LANE DEPARTURE ASSIST CAME ON BUT WE WERE NOT OUT OF LANE. WE KEPT TRAVELING A LITTLE FURTHER AND THE STEERING WAS STIFF. WE WERE TRAVELING ABOUT 53 MPH AND THE CAR ALL OF A SUDDEN JERKED VERY SHARP TO THE RIGHT AND WE WENT OFF THE ROAD HITTING PARKED TRUCK AND FLIPPED IT. THE WHEELS JUST TURNED THE RIGHT AND WOULD NOT LET US TURN THE WHEEL
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2020 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT FROM SECOND GEAR INTO THIRD GEAR. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO DECELERATE AND WAS SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL UNTIL HE WAS ABLE TO PARK ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO HONDA OF ANNAPOLIS LOCATED AT 1736 WEST ST, ANNAPOLIS, MD 21401, (443) 569-3477, AND WAS INFORMED THE VEHICLE HAD EXPERIENCED CLUTCH AND TRANSMISSION ISSUES. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AS OF YET. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,500.
I WAS DRIVING MY CAR FROM BENICIA,CALIFORNIA TO SACRAMENTO AND 20 MINS AWAY FROM MY DESTINATION MY CAR WARNING LIGHTS ALL TURNED ON AND I WENT FROM GOING 70 TO ONLY BEING ABLE TO GO NO MORE THAN 15. GOT IT TOWED TO HONDA AND FOUND OUT MY HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP WAS BAD. LOOK IT UP AND SEEN THAT MANY MORE CARS LIKE MINES HAD THE SAME PROBLEM
(SUN) MOON ROOF SPONTANEOUSLY EXPLODED WITHOUT CONTACT FROM A FOREIGN OBJECT WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEED. ADDITIONAL DAMAGE CAUSED TO ROOF & TRUNK EXTERIOR PAINT. NO POLICE OR ACCIDENT REPORT WAS FILED. CONTACTED DEALERSHIP FOR WARRANTY CLAIM AND THEY DIRECTED ME TO MY AUTO INSURANCE PROVIDER. *TR
MY CAR WAS BROKEN INTO WHILE PARKED IN A PUBLIC PARKING LOT. THE 2020 CIVIC HAS A FEATURE WHERE ALL WINDOWS ROLL DOWN IF YOU PUT THE KEY INTO THE DRIVER'S DOOR LOCK AND TURN IT TO THE RIGHT. ACCORDING TO HONDA OF OAKLAND SERVICE CENTER, SOMEONE USED A SCREWDRIVER TO ACTIVATE THIS FEATURE, WHICH IN TURN ROLLED THE WINDOWS DOWN AND THEY WERE ABLE TO ACCESS THE TRUNK LATCH NEAR THE DRIVER'S SEAT AND STEAL ITEMS FROM MY TRUNK. THEY WERE THEN ABLE TO ROLL THE WINDOWS BACK UP USING THE SAME FEATURE (TURNING TO THE LEFT) AND I WAS NOT AWARE THAT THERE WAS A BREAK IN UNTIL LATE THE NEXT DAY WHEN I WENT TO RETRIEVE ITEMS FROM THE TRUNK. A RELATED FEATURE IS THAT THE KEY FOB ALLOWS YOU TO ROLL DOWN ALL WINDOWS SIMULTANEOUSLY BY HOLDING DOWN THE UNLOCK BUTTON. THIS FEATURE IS VERY SENSITIVE AND CAN BE ACTIVATED IN A POCKET OR PURSE. I TESTED OUT THE RANGE OF THE FEATURE AND WAS ABLE TO ROLL MY WINDOWS DOWN REMOTELY FROM OVER 200 FEET AWAY WHILE INSIDE A BUILDING WHEN MY CAR WAS PARKED OUTSIDE ACROSS THE STREET. I TWICE CAME BACK TO MY CAR WITH THE WINDOWS ROLLED DOWN DUE TO THIS FEATURE WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE. THESE REMOTE WINDOW FEATURES POSE A SERIOUS SAFETY THREAT FOR CONSUMERS IN URBAN AREAS, ESPECIALLY SINCE THE DOOR FEATURE CAN EVIDENTLY BE ACTIVATED WITH JUST A SCREWDRIVER, AND THE KEY CAN BE ACTIVATED FROM HUNDREDS OF FEET AWAY. NOT ONLY CAN PEOPLE BREAK INTO MY CAR WITHOUT ANY EQUIPMENT, BUT IT IS NOT EVIDENT FROM THE OUTSET THAT A BREAK-IN OCCURRED BECAUSE THE FEATURE ALSO ALLOWS YOU TO ROLL ALL THE WINDOWS BACK UP REMOTELY. THIS MAKES THE MODEL AN EASY TARGET FOR FUTURE THEFT, AND I HAVE ALREADY HAD TO FILE A CLAIM WITH MY INSURANCE TO REPAIR THE MECHANICAL DAMAGE TO THE LOCK/DOOR RESULTING FROM THIS BREAK IN.
THE CRASH MITIGATION ACTIVATED TWICE IN TWO DIFFERENT SITUATIONS ALMOST CAUSING ME TO GET REAR ENDED TWICE. THE FIRST TIME WAS WHEN I WAS GOING THROUGH A ROUNDABOUT, THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME WAS A NORMAL CAR LENGTH AHEAD AS WE BOTH ENTERED THE CIRCLE. THE CAR IN FRONT TURNED LEFT AND I WAS GOING STRAIGHT THROUGH. AT THIS TIME THE CAR WAS OUT OF MY WAY AND IN THE TURN AND SUDDENLY MY CAR SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES ALMOST TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE CAR BEHIND ME ALSO STOPPED ABRUPTLY AND NEARLY REAR ENDED ME. MY LEFT HAND WAS RESTING ON THE WHEEL AND THE SUDDEN STOPPAGE MADE MY FINGERS CRUNCH UP INTO THE STEERING WHEEL FEELING LIKE A "JAMMED" FINGER. THE SECOND TIME THE CRASH MITIGATION ACTIVATED WAS AT 0550 IN THE MORNING ON THE WAY TO WORK. I WAS ENTERING A 4-WAY WITH NO VEHICLES IN FRONT OF ME. I WAS APPROACHING THE INTERSECTION AT AROUND 25 MPH AND MIDWAY THROUGH THE INTERSECTION THE CAR SLAMMED ON IT'S BRAKES ALMOST TO A CLEAR STOP. I DOWN SHIFTED AND WHEN IT RELEASED I PRESSED THE GAS AND ABOUT 2 SECONDS LATER IT ACTIVATED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME LAID ON HIS HORN IN ANGER THE ENTIRE TIME AS HE ALMOST HIT ME TWICE IN THAT EVENT. THE 4-WAY I WAS APPROACHING HAD NO VEHICLES GOING THROUGH, HOWEVER THE RIGHT SIDE ENTRY HAD A VEHICLE STOPPED AT THE LIGHT AND THAT PARTICULAR SIDE IS ELEVATED AS IT COMES DOWN A SLIGHT HILL. BOTH OF THESE EVENTS WERE TERRIFYING AND NOW I AM AFRAID THAT THIS VEHICLE WILL DO IT AGAIN AT ANY TIME WHEN I AM IN AWARE. I FEEL THIS VEHICLE IN IT'S CURRENT STATE IS UNSAFE AND MY CONFIDENCE IN IT IS VERY LOW. I DRIVE ABOUT 100 MILES EVERY DAY FOR WORK AND AM NERVOUS ABOUT THE CRASH MITIGATION SYSTEM CAUSING ME TO GET REAR ENDED. I AM 43 YEARS OLD AND HAVE NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND NOW I'M FEELING IT IS NOT IF, BUT WHEN. VERY UNSATISFIED WITH THIS PURCHASE NOW AND FEEL OTHERS MUST BE HAVING SAME ISSUES.
OVER 4 WEEKS AGO, 2 WEEKS AFTER LEASING THE 2020 CAR, THE DASHBOARD STARTED TO DISPLAY NUMEROUS ERROR MESSAGES. THE CAR WAS EVALUATED AT THE DEALER, HONDA OF FREEHOLD, NJ, AND I WAS TOLD THAT A CERTAIN MODULE FAILED. SOON THEREAFTER A TIRE WARNING LIGHT ALSO STARTED TO DISPLAY AND ONCE AGAIN THE DEALER TOLD US NOT TO BE CONCERNED AS IT IS LIKELY AS A RESULT OF THE SAME MODULE. NOT TAKING THEIR WORD FOR IT, I BROUGHT THE CAR TO A COSTCO REPAIR SHOP AND A LARGE NAIL WAS DISCOVERED IN THE TIRE. I'VE BEEN IN TOUCH WITH THE DEALER AND HAVE ALSO CALLED MANY TIMES TO THE CORPORATE OFFICES. THE SAME ANSWER WAS GIVEN ' THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER AND 'WE WILL CALL YOU WHEN WE GET IT'. The red dashed line marks recall issuance — the first recall came 5 years after owners began filing complaints, a lag that indicates the manufacturer was slow to formally acknowledge these problems.
Red dots on the amber line flag 6 years (2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2026) where complaints included crash events — these are the highest-severity incidents in the dataset.
