I am reporting suspected odometer fraud on my 2018 Audi Q7 3.0T Prestige (VIN: [XXX] ). Between May 8 and June 13, 2025, while I was the sole driver of the vehicle, Audi dealership service records show an odometer increase of 5,282 miles (from 78,260 to 83,542). However, independently verified GPS trip data from the Audi Connect system confirms I drove only approximately 2,103 miles during this period — a discrepancy of approximately 3,178 miles. The vehicle was serviced at two Penske-owned dealerships: Audi of Arlington (3200 Columbia Pike, Arlington, VA 22204) and Audi of Chantilly (14839 Stonecroft Center Ct, Chantilly, VA 20151). Only authorized dealer diagnostic equipment can alter odometer values. This manipulation resulted in the wrongful denial of my extended warranty coverage and a 37,567.16 out-of-pocket engine replacement. I have a fully documented demand letter with ten supporting exhibits including service records, Audi Connect trip data, and a detailed timeline. The dealerships did not respond to my demand letter. I’m reporting a serious safety issue with my 2018 Audi Q7. Both rear suspension springs failed suddenly while I was driving at highway speeds 70 MPH, with no warning at all. This was extremely dangerous—I almost lost control of the vehicle when it happened. The rear of the car dropped and handling became unstable immediately. There were no prior signs, noises, or issues leading up to the failure. This kind of failure should not happen under normal driving conditions, especially on a vehicle like this. Having both springs fail at the same time creates a major safety risk not only for me but for others on the road. I had to replace both rear springs at my own expense. Based on what I’ve seen, this may be a known issue and not just a one-time occurrence. I’m asking NHTSA to look into this problem and determine if there’s a defect with the suspension system on the 2018 Audi Q7 that could require a recall or further action.

The car has always (including during warranty period) required addition of engine oil in between scheduled maintenance interval, and problem got worse as function of age/miles. Audi has diagnosed this issue and it has been determined that the engine consumes excessive oil and requires new piston skirt. The cost of the labor is not something Audi is willing to pay for and there is a class action lawsuit. Audi has sent an email/letter to certain owners of the vehicle. My VIN for some reason wasn't included but now Audi has verified, but not willing to pay for the cost to replace the engine or fix it.

The crankcase ventilation valve is malfunctioning resulting in excessive oil consumption and unsafe idling. The Extended Warranty dated 5/24/19 with Number AWA-19-03 should be extended to other model years.

Right Front Parking Light Defective

2018 Audi Q7 piston melting diagnosed by a certified mechanic due to excessive oil consumption due to defective pistons. A class action suit was filed. And a warranty extension extension issued. There is no record of a warranty extension and should be. Please advise

This vehicle developed low oil alerts within 6 weeks of me receiving it with normal city driving. Multiple testing visits and comprehensive consumption testing later, it continued to have the low oil alerts very frequently and various random malfunction alerts like parking brake alert etc. For each complaint I took it to the dealership and did whatever they recommended but no eventual resolution was found. Early October this year, in the middle of traffic multiple alerts came on including drive system malfunction, parking brake malfunction and start stop malfunction. So many that the whole console just lit up and the car started rocking in the middle of traffic and I had to slow down to keep the vehicle in control. The car was rocking visibly and I had difficulty in maneuvering it to a safe location . I contacted the dealership and they gave me an appointment 4 weeks out saying that since the lights were solid and not flashing I could choose to drive the car. However it didn’t look safe to drive so I didn’t use it thereafter. They later told me after a diagnostic evaluation that the engine needed to be replaced as the slapping piston rings had scraped the cylinder walls.

Catastrophic engine failure, this occurred 2 weeks after a service appointment where nothing was detected. The car only had 86,000 miles and it is unrepairable. We have now found that this could be due to a design flaw in this model which we were unaware of.

I am reporting a progressive oil consumption defect that led to a catastrophic engine failure in my 2018 Audi Q7. The vehicle was purchased Certified Pre-Owned (CPO). I reported the excessive oil use to an Audi dealer. The dealer attempted to address the issue by performing an engine cleaning/flush, but the engine failed shortly afterwards. Over time, the vehicle required frequent top-offs between service intervals. Eventually, the engine suffered a mechanical failure, resulting in a broken exhaust valve and internal engine damage while driving on the highway. The Audi dealer provided a repair estimate of approximately $12,000. Audi of America offered 40% assistance to make the repair, but does not recognize the underlying excessive oil consumption issue. Furthermore, the proposed repair only replaces the damaged valve and related components, but does not address the underlying excessive oil consumption that caused the failure. This means the vehicle may still: •unexpectedly run low on oil, •lose power while driving, •suffer additional internal damage, or •again experience sudden engine failure while driving. These conditions can cause dangerous drivability issues, including loss of acceleration and potential stalling at highway speeds. This appears to be a serious safety-related defect involving lubrication failure, component breakage, and potential loss of power. I am requesting that NHTSA review this issue to determine whether similar failures are occurring in other Audi Q7 vehicles with the 3.0T engine.

The console displays side marker light defective warning, but both the side marker lights are working

The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at various speeds, an orange triangle warning symbol and a message that the "Driver’s side Front Marker Defective - See Owner’s Manual" was displayed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the front driver’s side marker needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 84,901.

While driving on I-90 in January 2025, the steering wheel malfunctioned causing loss of control of the car. The warning message came on the dashboard to immediately stop driving. Was able to pull off to the shoulder, turn the vehicle off, and call AAA for assistance. They towed the car to a repair shop.

The broken coil can puncture a tire, causing loss of control which can result in an accident. The vehicle is garaged year round, maintained very well, with no excessive wear and tear. The rear passenger side suspension spring coil broke while driving. The possibility of this failure puncturing a tire, dislodging from the vehicle into traffic, or causing control/stability issues of the vehicle is significant. The vehicle has been towed and is sitting until a fix is determined. No warnings were given before the incident. It happened on a smooth, flat, straight road at the time of occurrence.

This is a well known issue and multiple People have reported on this issue to Audi. It’s is very common in Audi Q7 models from the year 2017 - 2023 where the PCV valve have a defect and the marker on the front passenger and driver side lights as well are out. These are both very costly repairs that are thousands of dollars that truly hurt the consumer. They know that the 3.0 L engine had a severe problem with the PCV valve and crack case and they have not warned customers and it’s truly hurting the consumer in this economy. The Audi MMI system, which controls almost everything (radio, navigation, vehicle settings etc) shuts down and restarts every few minutes all by itself. The MMI system restarts completely randomly. It started out of nowhere a few months ago and happens whether driving or parked. Since then it is happening more and more frequently, making the system unusable at times (meaning navigation, radio, etc do not work). I'm afraid this issue is in the vehicle's computer and other components of hte car could be faulty, putting myself and other drivers with Audi cars at risk of injury or death if something with the computer fails. I have researched this issue extensively online and this seems to have appeared in numerous different Audi models and years. This also seems to have started happening fairly recently in most cases. I have not and will not take my vehicle to the dealership for diagnosis because I know they will charge a few hundred dollars just to tell me they cannot find anything (this is what many people have already posted online). There is an OBVIOUS computer system issue with Audi vehicles affecting their MMI system and some sort of fix is needed, for the safety of all vehicle owners.

We had a warning light go on on the dash advising there was an issue with the driver's side side marker lamp. In looking at the lamp, it is still illuminating, just not as bright as normal. This is a known issue with Audi - several complaints have been made already and there is even a recall on certain vins. My vin was not included in this so the cost is falling on me (in the form of $6200 not including tax) despite this being the exact same issue in the recall.

The engine burns oil. At about 60k miles started to burn about a liter every 10k miles. Once the engine got to about 80K engines it started burning a leter about every 1K miles. The high amount of oil consumption fouled the spark plugs, coils, injectors and sensors. This resulted in a drive system malfunction, caused loss of power in the engine that ultimately ruined the engine with less than 100K miles.

Twice, without logically-relevant symptom or warning, when the vehicle attempted to accelerate from a low speed in the middle of a busy intersection, the AEB incorrectly activated, suddenly stopped the vehicle, startled the drivers, and nearly caused accidents. Turned out, this was known behavior caused by a design defect software bug in the "door control modules" for which a software update had been released but never publicly announced. Audi charged us $315 for the software update, but since it is a manufacturing defect causing a critical safety issue, it should be covered by a safety recall, all owners of Audi vehicles with the affected "door control modules" should be proactively notified of the software update and should receive it without cost.

For over 24+ months now, the engine has been showing signs of excessive oil consumption. I've had the engine light come on requesting for me to add a quart of oil...on average, every 2,000 miles. I'm concerned with this excessive oil consumption as it is a major safety issue, as the piston rings may fail due to a possible faulty engine design (most likely since this excessive oil consumption is a frequent occurrence with other drivers of this vehicle). When discussed with the dealership, they are aware of the situation (2017-2019 Audi Q7 excessive oil consumption) and they request that I pay for an engine compression test. This amount of oil consumption shouldn't happen.

First time on highway since getting it back from the car repair vendor two days prior. Drive system malfunction occurred on the highway drive approx.13 miles from my house. Car lost power and would stall and would barely idle. Stopped in the middle of highway traffic 3 times. Got the car towed to vendor that had serviced my car 2 days prior which involved changing rear brake pads and rotors, 6 supercharged spark plugs and air filter. Estimate of issue was damaged exhaust valves on cylinder 2 & 4. Recommended service was remove the cylinder heads, replace all exhaust valves, clean pistons and combustion chambers $8,032.99.

The vehicle developed a misfire on cylinder 1. The dealership ran a 3 hour diagnostic that included using a borescope on all cylinders. One of the valves on cylinder 1 was identified as bad. The dealership indicated the only solution was to replace the engine and suggested trading the vehicle in for a new car.

Getting error message again regarding "Front Right Side Marker Light Defective". This issue was already addressed back in late 2024 by my local Audi service center, but has popped back up again for the second time. My car has a little over 100K and has no other problems. There was an Audi recall Campaign 97CB (NHTSA campaign ID #16V642000) that addresses this exact issue and applies to some affected VIN numbers, but mine is not included. Seem to be occurring with a lot of regularity based on research online.

Bad water pump and thermostat for 2018 Audi q7 59,000 miles I see it has been a class action lawsuit on the water pumps

A very distracting warning about an issue with a front left side marker keeps popping up - on some rides multiple times in a minute! - and the only way to address it is, according to the dealership, to pay almost $7,000 to replace the entire headlamp assembly. It’s so distracting I do not permit the new teenage driver in our family to drive the car because I do not think it is safe. The visual is alarming and appears in the display immediately behind the steering wheel, so it is distracting. I think it makes a Ping! noise too, each time it appears. The car passed inspection because the light still works, there seems to be some other problem deep in the assembly that is causing the distracting warning. Given the cost and the safety issue from the distraction, I was surprised there is not a recall on this. So, I am reporting it now. Error code for right front side marker light faulty. Light seems to be working. I've had two mechanics look at the car. They can't figure out what's wrong. Error message appears randomly. Brakes are very squeaky. I took the car to Audi and they said it was normal and I should brake more aggressively.

At my 100k mile inspection it was noted that an engine mount is leaking. With a repair cost in the multiple thousands I checked online and have found this to be an extremely common occurrence with possible disastrous implications.

We were driving down the expressway when the car began to vibrate. We pulled over and had lights on the dash. We had it towed to a dealership where it was diagnosed as a burnt valve and ruined motor. I believe a new Audi engine quote was around $26,000. We took very good care of this car. This is a common issue and will become more common as these engines fail.

Car starting giving an error that the “Front right side parking light is defective”.

The contact owns a 2018 Audi Q7. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 15 MPH and attempting to make a left turn, the steering wheel seized without warning. The contact stated that the passenger’s side front and rear wheels struck the curb causing the vehicle to spin out. The contact was able to regain control of the vehicle. The vehicle was brought to a stop and was towed to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the steering rack had failed due to a loss of communication with the steering module. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had not been made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 64,851.

There is rapid pecking noise / vibration when traveling during all right directional curves in the road. When I head in to a slight curve where the steering wheel only needs to be moved a few degrees to the right, the noise is such that I can feel it around the firewall and footwell of both driver and passenger side not to mention it is very loud and annoying. I notified Bill Jacobs BMW along with the brakes squealing while backing up) where I bought the vehicle and they said to take it to an Audi dealer. I went to Audi of Lexington KY and they were wanting to charge me over 8K to replace the exhaust. I did have the exhaust replaced and new front brakes completely replaced and the issue for both are still present. Very disappointed since I found TWO TSB's relating to my vehicle after paying so much for the work. There is a TSB for the Exhaust downpipe and mounts as well as a TSB for squealing brakes. Being told, all German cars have squeaky brakes is BS.

I researched this issue and noticed a widespread problem with the light detection of the 2017 modes and the 2018 Audi Q7 left front-side marker light. I have had this issue with my vehicle twice, resulting in over 4,000 dollars in repairs each time. I noticed that the 2018 models were left off, but I am sure there are more owners with this exact problem, and I believe this recall should be granted to 2017-2019 owners since the vehicles are in the same generation and have the same vehicle components on them. This is a widely known issue and a clear cash grab for Audi as the repair process to fix this is over $4,000 dollars each time, and the issue has not been resolved and is not covered under many warranties.

Front left side marker light malfunction warning came on. All lights seem to be working but warning light is still on . All forums online indicate a common issue with no resolution other than disabling the safety feature which is not a good option. Seems to be a prevalent issue with the q7 and should warrant a recall

My 8-year-old's finger was in the door frame and the door came close enough to engage the soft close feature and she tried to pull her finger out as we watched the door slowly continue closing on it. After 4 x-rays the doctor determined it was not fractured, but it is badly bruised, swollen, and was cut. This should not be possible that it doesn't sense her finger. On a car not equipped with soft closing, this incident wouldn't have occurred.

Audi Quattro (differential) noise is being heard while turning the car. The problem was identified to be due to different speeds between the front and rear differential, the locking effect of the center differential can differ significantly in tight bends. – unless there is a design flaw, there should be no noise coming from the differential . this is totally unheard of from any car I have owned. Problem was reported to Audi dealership and no definite solution was offered other than changing the oil for the center differential oil and checking to see if the problem goes away. if it does not, they would do further investigation. This is an Audi Quattro differential design fault that can be very dangerous if it fails on highways or under adverse weather or at high trafficked areas. I started an incident case (Reference #06217801) with Audi USA and Regional Case Manager (MR) told me that "our responsibility is to service the vehicles within the parameters of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty. This covers manufacturer’s shortcomings on parts and labor for 4 years or 50,000 miles (whichever occurs first) from the vehicle’s in-service date. Once these parameters have been exceeded, repairs do become the responsibility of the owner of the vehicle. Any diagnostic cost would be customer pay." This is why Audi has more class action law suits against them than any other auto brand. Keep in mind Audi has had more class action lawsuit (and lost) against them than any other Auto company. I have received 5 notices of Class Action lawsuit that Audi decided to settle in the last 6 years - just on one model. Needless to say, Audi (VW) puts faulty dangerous products on the road, hoping NHTSA has no appetite to go after them.

Rear Drivers side spring cracked failed and corrosion on the bottom mount. Passenger side corrosion also visible and needed to be replaced. Confirmed and documented by dealer and repaired on 7-12-24. Vehicle has 93K miles and was last brought in for multi point inspection at 50K.

I have received two "cylinder misfire" notifications. The first occured in December 2023 on a remote stretch of freeway. The second occured in June 2024 on a remote stretch of highway. In both cases, I immediately lost power and put myself and cars around me at risk because I had to pull over onto the side of the road to re-start the car. After the second incident, I now have no confidence in taking my car, only 6 years old and with 74K miles on it, out of the city and into the countryside. The symptoms of this issue include frequent oil burn / oil top-offs. My car requires a quart of oil every 200-300 miles. There are no leaks in my driveway. The leaking all seems to be coming from the cylinders. I am taking my Q7 into a mechanic, again, next week and I am concerns the solution will be "new engine" which costs more than the car is worth.

Front right side marker light defective warning message populates when the vehicle is started, and also when temperatures are low, or conditions are wet. It also causes the ADAS components to be deactivated some of the times it occurs.

Audi Q7 sunroof front sunroof glass spontaneously exploded while driving on freeway at 8:30am going 75mph. No extreme temperature swing, no water on glass. Heard loud gunshot sound and looked up to see hole about 5-7" wide in sunroof. Tempered glass pieces falling onto fabric sunscreen.

Warning light comes on stating front left side marker light is not working. However, light is on. Warning continues to come and ding non-stop despite the light working correctly. Searching the internet shows that this has happened to thousands of people. Audi is trying to charge over $5K for a known defect. Dangerous to have these lights not connected properly to the car's system.

Rear passenger side coil spring broke. Vehicle has 85K miles. Happened when traveling on a highway - heard a loud bang. Car still ran however sitting 1' lower on that side. Repair estimate in the $1500 range. Research in online forums shows this is happening to a lot of 2017-18 Q7s. definitely a design/component flaw.

HVAC flap motors (2 of them) failed for the second time impairing visibility during inclement weather. The first time was under warranty. This second time is costing me $1550 plus tax. When these flap motors fail, they remain closed and do not allow the heating or AC to blow into the vehicle which results in windows fogging up completely. It is impossible to drive without windows open which is not practical in the winter cold rainy season.

67,000 miles and broken rear right coil spring. Very serious issue as it can cause an accident while driving. No warnings or messages. Heard loud pop and rear right was sagging. Many other people with this model Q7 have had the same problem. A part like this should not be failing at 67,000 miles.

Noticed a lower level of coolant (below the MIN mark) at the coolant reservoir - checked with mechanic and was told there is a slow coolant leak at the one of the water pump seals (which has corroded). Need a water pump replacement. Was told it is a very common occurence with these cars - but was surprised to experience this issue on a car with less than 20K miles driven.

As noted in one such lawsuit (that apparently settled), the engine failure caused by the defective Audi piston ring and piston assemblies could result in sudden loss of power to the engine. “It goes without saying that a sudden loss of power poses a clear-cut safety risk—it can prevent the driver from accelerating, maintaining speed, and even adequately controlling the steering wheel, engaging the brakes, all of which drastically increase the risk of collisions …” [XXX] v. Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. {XXX]) The problem with our Audi is consistent with the reports by plaintiffs in these lawsuits, as well as other Audi owners—including Q7s—who have shared their experiences online. Starting at around 60,000 miles, our vehicle increasingly consumed oil until eventually, we needed to add a quart of oil less than every 600 miles. And that’s despite our: 1) having followed all of the required oil change and other related maintenance standards published by Audi; and 2) having replaced the car’s CCV valve and PCV breather, which we were told sometimes corrects the problem. Most recently, in December 2023, I was driving with my children in the vehicle, and the engine started sputtering and laboring. Then the check engine light appeared. I was able to drive the car home but have been advised that, in order to make the car drivable, we’d have to replace the engine. Obviously, even if we have the engine replaced, the rebuilt Audi engine could have the same problems. Given the risk that the affected Audi engines will fail in vehicles traveling at high speeds on U.S. highways, the NHTSA should investigate this matter immediately. Car is consuming 1 quart of oil every 600 miles.

The rear passenger side coil spring broke at 43,000 miles—no hard driving or potholes.

Rear coil spring broke without any load on the vehicle. This condition causes some of the safety features to not work such as adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking.

Brakes were firmly applied to avoid a collision, the 3rd row seatbelt did not engage and the passenger was thrust forward and hit their head on the 2nd row seat. Took the vehicle to Audi for inspection and they found the locking mechanism on the belt was faulty and replaced it.

Fuel pump failed and is leaking on my 2018 Audi Q7. Audi has confirmed it will need to be replaced at my cost. Audi also confirmed it has an extended warranty to replace the faulty fuel pump on other model years on the same q7 vehicle model, for 150,000 miles. It appears that to rectify the issue, the same part is replaced as on the warranty fix. Why was model year 2018 not included in the warranty if it is the same part?

coolant leaking @ 50K miles and also their warning system is not as effective. I got into a fender bender 2 months in owning the car as brand new.

Both rear springs broke at 70000 miles.

Just had the vehicle in for the it’s 60k mile service and no issues reported. Today, at 63k miles I had the same dealer look at a headlight malfunction and the service technician reported the rear coil springs are failing and need replaced.

Did not have an issue until I heard an exhaust rattle today. Upon inspection, the exhaust pipe tip on the right side could be physically manipulated upwards and downwards but appeared to be rusty. The exhaust pipe extension (Audi part 4M0253682M) eventually fell off completely within 50 miles of initially noticing and fell onto the roadway, as I was pulling into a parking lot causing a hazard. Upon picking the item up, the clamp and exhaust pipe were rusted through.

The contact owns a 2018 Audi Q7. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the passenger’s side air bag warning light remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local service center who diagnosed that the passenger’s side seat cushion needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 65,000.

Passenger side rear spring broke near the base on a 2018 Q7 with 66k miles. From looking online, this is a common problem with this model/year. VWofA issued a recall for rear springs for the same year of the VW Atlas, a car that shares the same platform with the Q7, so they know there's a problem. Looking online, many people are having this issue, and it costs, $2400 to replace the springs.

While driving, car stops and message " Drive System:Malfunction! Please Contact Service" comes on along with check engine light and message indicator.

Right engine mount fluid leaking under factory warranty(diagnosed at 50k service, 44k actual mileage). The leaking is not obvious and cant be identified unless lifting the car up.

The problem: I was driving and noticed a high remaining fuel range, or a fuel gauge that appears to be stuck at a specific level, I ran out of gas while in motion, and my engine stalled almost causing a crash on the highway. My vehicle was towed to the Kansas City Audi dealer and they have identified the same issue in the recall in the NHTSA campaign number: 22V155. Audi’s own number for this recall is 20DN. The dealer has quoted $5,000 to make the repair (My vehicle is currently at the dealer). My 2018 Q7 has the same engine as the 2018 A7 where there is a recall regarding the same reported issue. "The fuel level sender, which is located inside the vehicle’s gas tank, may get stuck on the gas tank’s ventilation pipe, leading the dashboard display to show an incorrect gas level and remaining range level."

Twice now, the front windshield defroster has malfunctioned. First time was late last winter and the car was undriveable due to almost no visibility out of the windshield (and it malfunctioned during my wife's daily commute). We had it repaired under warranty at the time. The same issue occurred again yesterday (2/27/2023) evening while commuting to my son's school. Due to inclement weather, visibility was extremely poor without the defroster and had to drive with the windows partly rolled down. As the vehicle is out of warranty now, the repair costs will be out of pocket. In a span of a year or less, this issue has occurred twice now.

Water pump failure. This can lead to catstrophic engine failure if not addressed. Dealer has confirmed the failure. No fault codes appeared in any scans. Only warning signs were rapid coolant loss & the smell of burning coolant.

This vehicle was maintained by Audi/VW for 60000 miles under a service contract. While changing my snow tires I noticed the spring was broken. My wife did claim she heard a rattling in the back of the car, this must have been it. I’ve found multiple complaints from different owners on car online forums claiming they found the same spring, the right rear, unexpectedly broken. A suspension failure can have devastating results especially with a 7400 pound towing capacity.

Engine coolant leak reported only at around 30K miles. Leak detected and fixed at owners cost.

The contact owns a 2018 Audi Q7. The contact stated while driving approximately 30 MPH, the seat belt on the passenger’s side the second row started to make a clicking sound and tightened independently around the contact's son. The contact’s son reported that he felt pressure on his chest and shoulder as the seat belt tightened but was not injured. The contact stated that the seat belt failure had become a constant issue and had stopped using the seat belt. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V606000 (Seat Belts). The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

The car's parking brake system is not engaging when a door is opened while the car's transmission is in "Drive." Normal operation requires the parking brake to be engaged when the door is opened. Audi is aware of the issue and has issued a software patch to flash the car's firmware. See https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2019/MC-10158462-9999.pdf However, this is only done for cars in warranty. Since this is a safety concern it should be done for all cars as a car can roll when a door is opened and the parking brake is not automatically engaged as originally designed.

My Audi with 42k miles ran out of gas on the Interstate Highway without any warning. Failure was a fuel sending unit which provides fuel quantity info and the low fuel light. The erroneous display indicated just less than half tank and the display indicated 185 miles to empty. This failure of the engine to suddenly quit on a busy freeway is potentially catastrophic! At a minimum there should be a safety recall requiring the Audi company to design the low fuel light to be on a separate circuit.

At approx 56,600 miles I received a low engine coolant error on my vehicle. Upon inspection, all engine coolant was gone from the tank. Engine coolant was refilled by me at home. The next day, I received a low oil error on my vehicle. Upon inspection, the oil was below the minimum level. 1 quart of oil was added to my vehicle and we promptly took the vehicle in for inspection as this did not seem like a coincidence. Upon inspection at Motor City Euro Repair, it was noted that the water pump was leaking causing the engine coolant and oil levels to decrease. Water pump replacement required, which should typically not be a required repair until 100,000 miles. Audi is aware of this issue, but no recall has been made. There is also a class action lawsuit for this issue, but the 2018 Q7 Prestige 3.0 is not part of the vehicles in the suit. Total cost of repair was $1,375 as the vehicle is 6,600 miles out of warranty. Again, this is a know Volkswagen/Audi issue and Audi US is not recalling.

1.Interior color light bars: These light bars developed inconsistency. Audi repaired the inconsistency however now the light bars only display pink (not white) during start up. The dealership tried telling me it’s not pink, then claims to be color blind. I have artiest friends who maintain the color is pink. 2.Engine start-stop: Dealership confirms the Q7 will shut down as part of the start-stop feature before the vehicle has stopped. I explained to the dealership that the Q7 speedo claims moving 1 to 2 mph faster than it is moving. Therefore, during slow speed braking, stop sign, the Q7 will shut down before it stops moving. Without the engine on, the Q7 will lurch to a stop or and forcing the transmission to turn. 3. Low oil light comes on between oil changes sometimes.

I purchased car July 2nd 2021 with 74956 miles, I just had it towed to audi do to coolant level light coming on. I purchased extended warranty at time of purchase and though this would be covered but was told warranty only covers water pump not the thermostat. Now they are demanding over 2100 to fix. I have seen several other audi owners that have experienced similar issues and believe this could be a dangerous to the owners especially when going on a long trip which my leave you stranded.

Sunroof exploded. No trauma to the sunroof it just popped and glass shattered going down interstate

285 45 R 20 All of the treads on each tire is delaminating. The tires are not even a year old and have 90% tread heigh left. There are less than 20000 miles put on this vehicle. I went to have my tires rotated and my mechanic pointed out that the tires were dangerous and treads were cracked and delaminating on all 4 tires. you may need to blow up pictures or zoom in to see accurately

Water pump stopped working properly, creating hazardous situation with my car. Had the car overheated and stopped working while driving, this could have been catastrophic. The only symptom was loss of coolant and resulting warning message from the car. I took it to an independent service center, who diagnosed the problem and replaced at my own expense of $961.07.

After the shutdown of 3G network, my 2018 Audi Q7 Prestige lost some great features. Audi USA sent a recall 91CD which is basically the notice that 3G network will be shutting down from 2/22. This deactivates app based features like lock/unlock, vehicle monitoring, vehicle related data etc. When taken to the dealership "Audi Minneapolis" with letter from Audi USA, dealership just upgraded the software but refused to upgrade the hardware. They asked $400 to upgrade the hardware. This is really inconvenient for the customer and also a safety issue as I am thinking. Please look into this and pressure Audi USA to come up with a resolution. Attached is a chat script with AudiUSA. Basically customer has to live with the issue.

I recently purchased a CPO 2018 Audi Q7, and shortly after purchase, I encountered the problem indicated in this TSB about break squeal (https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2018/MC-10153128-9999.pdf) I contacted the dealer (Audi North Austin, located at 12971 Pond Springs Road, Austin, TX 78729) to fix this problem, but was refused because my car does not meet the criteria specified in the TSB, namely 24 Months / 24,000 Miles (my car has 27,700 Miles). In doing so, I found another TSB (https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2018/MC-10153129-9999.pdf) with the same problem as in my car. And it has different criteria, namely 48 Months/50,000 Mile. In this regard, I would like to ask why there are different criteria for the same problem? Why are 2017 Audi Q7 models has 48 Months/50,000 Miles to fix this problem, but 2018 Audi Q7 only 24 Months/24,000 Miles ?

Icy road, pulling up to stop sign, at 5-8 MPH , had just pulled out of parking space, touched brakes to slow down, brakes locked up, tried to pump to release brakes with no response, car stopped brakes released.

Low coolant, and found coolant leaking from waterpump

Noticed front Goodyear Eagle Sport 285/45R20 tread are cracking and peeling. This is my second set of at the same OEM tire having the same phenomenon as original tires that came with vehicle when purchase new. Per dealership, this is a known issue with Goodyear tires and was recommended to switch to Pirelli tires. Current tires are still under manufacture warranty but if there is a known issue, why is Goodyear still selling tire? This failure seems to occur after about 15k to 18k miles of usage. Concern tread will tear apart at high speed and could cause an accident on there road.

Dear Leadership @ NHTSA, On July 5th, I reported an incident of Air conditioner not working on my Audi Q7 car with Dealer- Audi Bellevue, located at 1533 120th Ave NE, Bellevue Washington 98005. Findings from the service team was, faulty Control Module and it was replaced. However, this replacement did not fix the problem. Further Investigation led to puncture in the Condenser as the cause. I was told the Condenser had to be replaced. I spoke to my service advisor and Supervisor of the service advisor. My question to them was “How can the condenser get punctured, which is under the hood of the car. My car never met with any accident”? Per Dealer Supervisor, While driving rocks from the road, can make its way through the front grill and make a hole on the Condenser and this is a known issue. My concern is, if this is a known problem, why is Audi still sticking to this Design where it can let rocks pass through the front grill to make a dent on the Condenser. This is causing a huge inconvenience/hardship to customers like me. I had to spend $1,542.62 for the condenser replacement(though I had a Platinum extended warranty) and had to leave my car at the workshop for 11 days. Now that the Condenser is replaced and working fine, the issue does not resolve here, rocks can potentially come through the front grill and can make a dent on the condenser again. This is still an OPEN issue. If that happens again, I will have to go through the same cycle of hardship/hazard/inconvenience. From inspection standpoint, the punctured condenser should be available with my Dealer. I have not made a claim through insurance, so no inspection is made on this condenser. I am not certain when the rocks would have puncture the condenser and there is no indication when the condenser was punctured. Since I noticed my Air conditioner not working on June 27th, I believe this incident of condenser puncture could have happened a week before.

When I was driving and trying to make a right turn to merge into the traffic, the transmission suddenly stalled and stuck in neutral, put my car in the right lane with large traffic on the lane and forced other cars to make sudden stop. After restarting the engine multiple times, it was suspected that somehow the transmission is always in neutral while the onboard system showing it is in driving mode. I had to get out of the car to push it to a safe side road. This is all sudden while car engine is running. Initially the onboard dashboard shows Transmission Malfunction, but after restarting even that error message disappeared, while the transmission is still not engaging.

STATIONARY VEHICLE: FOR THE LAST 3-4 WEEK THE SEAT BELT DOES NOT WANT TO FASTEN. I HAVE TO REALLY WORK WITH IT TO FASTEN. ALSO ,IT IS DIFFICULTY TO UN-FASTEN ONCE IT IS FASTENED. THIS PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT AND IS GETTING HUNG MORE FREQUENTLY. I ASK THE AUDI DEALER IN MELBOURNE TO CHECK THE SEAT BELT ABOUT 5- MONTHS AGO. THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM WITH THE SEAT BELT. BUT TO ME THIS IS A REAL SAFETY PROBLEM.

AT TIMES, THE "STOP-START" SYSTEM SEEMS TO FALTER WHEN THE VEHICLE HAS SLOWED TO ALMOST A FULL STOP, BUT NOT QUITE. IF I TRY TO ACCELERATE I GET A FEW SECONDS WHEN NOTHING HAPPENS. I FEEL THAT IT IS EITHER A TRANSMISSION CAUGHT BETWEEN SHIFTS OR AN ENGINE FALTER. I HAVE MENTIONED THIS TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS TOLD THAT "THAT'S HOW IT IS".

THE CONTACT HAD THE MANUFACTURER TOW THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL DEALER BELL AUDI (782 US-1, EDISON, NJ 08817) WHO DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE AS A STEERING WHEEL SYSTEM ISSUE THAT WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO COST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,328.

SUN ROOF SPONTANEOUSLY EXPLODING WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT ON A HIGHWAY.

IN MAY OF 2020 I SEVERELY HIT MY HEAD (LEFT SIDE OF FOREHEAD) ON THE C-PILLAR WHILE EXITING THE LEFT-REAR SEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AT THE TIME AT THE TIME OF MY HEAD INJURY. THE INJURY WAS CAUSED BECAUSE THE C-PILLAR IS VERY CLOSE TO THE REAR HEADREST, AND TO EXIT THE VEHICLE ONE GENERALLY HAS TO LOOK DOWN AT THE GROUND WHERE ONE IS ABOUT TO STEP. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THERE IS CURRENTLY A SAFETY RECALL (70H8 NHTSA: 20V658) FOR THIS VEHICLE, A 2018 AUDI Q7. (THE C-PILLAR IS THE THIRD VERTICAL BEAM FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE.) THE RECALL STATES "AN INCREASED RISK OF INJURY IF AN UNBELTED PASSENGER'S HEAD CONTACTS THE C-PILLAR IN A CRASH." MY EXPERIENCE IS THAT THERE IS ALSO AN INCREASED RISK OF HEAD INJURY ON THE C-PILLAR AS PASSENGERS EXIT THE VEHICLE FROM THE REAR DOORS WHILE THE VEHICLE IS PARKED. I REPORTED MY PROBLEM TO THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY RESPONDED ON DEC. 22, 2020: "AUDI OF AMERICA HAS REVIEWED YOUR CONCERNS AND WE SEE THE EXPERIENCE AS BEING NO FAULT OF THE VEHICLE OR THE 70H8 CAMPAIGN."

LOUD SQUEAKING NOISE WHEN BACKING UP/ON REVERSE COMING FROM FRONT BRAKES. ADVISED AUDI DEALERSHIP AT ROCHERST HILLS, MI FOR THE ISSUE WHEN THE CAR WAS LESS THEN 2 YEARS OLD AND WITH ONLY 20,000 MILES ON IT, BUT SERVICE ADVISER SAID THERE WAS NO BULLETIN TSB, SERVICE CAMPAIG OR RECALL FOR THE THE ISSUE. I SHOULD PAY OUT OF MY POCKET FOR THE SERVICE. AFTER SPEAKING TO AN AUDI REPRESENTATIVE DIRECTLY, I WAS ADVISED THAT THERE WAS A TSB FOR THE CAR AND MY CAR IT SHOULD BE SERVICED. WHEN CONTACTED THE SAME DEALERSHIP I WAS ADVISED THAT I WAS OUT OF 24,000 MILES (BY 1,000 MILES) OR 2 YEARS WARRANTY (OUT 4 MONTHS) AND THEY COULD NOT FIX IT. WHEN I COMPLAINED TO THEM THAT THE OTHER ADVISED TOLD ME THERE IS NO COVERAGE AVAILABLE, WHEN MY CAR WAS UNDER COVERAGE LIMITS, THEN THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT THE ADVISER DOS NOT WORK WITH THEM ANYMORE. I OPENED A COMPLAIN WITH AUDI CUSTOMER CARE AND AFTER 2 WEEKS, AUDI CUSTOMER SERVICE STATED THAT THE DEALER ADVISED THAT I NEED TO REPLACE ROTOR AND PADS DUE TO DUST'.. AUDI COULD NOT DO ANYTHING AS THEY HAVE A RELATIOSHIP WITH THE DEALERSHIP, AS PER CUSTOMER SERVICE REPERSENTATIVE. THE SQUEAING IS VERY, VERY LOUD, MY 3 KIDS AND PEOPLE AROUND GET SCARED OR WONDERING WHAT IS HAPPENING WHEN I PRESS BRAKES WHILE ON REVERSE. NEITHER AUDI USA OR AUDI ROCHERSTER HILLS, MI CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS SAFETYBUT JUST OUR MONEY.

FRONT BRAKES HAVE ISSUES FROM THE BEGINNING WITH BRAND NEW TIRES FROM THE DEALER. DEALER CHANGED ALL TIRES WITH BRAND NEW TIRES AGAIN AND BRAKE PADS FOR FRONT BRAKES SIX MONTHS AGO. VEHICLE MAKES NOISE WHEN I PUSH BRAKE. VEHICLE IS NOW WITH THE DEALER AND THEY ARE TRYING TO FIGURE OUT. THIS IS NOT AT ALL ACCEPTABLE BEING A $80K VEHICLE. AUDI SHOULD DISCONTINUE THESE DEFECTIVE VEHICLES AND REFUND THE MONEY. THIS IS ALSO A ROAD HAZARD AND RISKY ISSUE TO DRIVE. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE.

I WENT TO PICK MY 3 YO TWINS AT SCHOOL. OPENED MY DOOR, GOT OFF THE CAR AND CLOSED IT, WITH KEYS INSIDE MY PURSE AT FRONT PASSENGER SEAT (MY USUAL ROUTINE). WAS ABLE TO OPEN PASSENGER'S BACK DOOR, BUCKLED MY SON TO CAR SEAT AND CLOSED HIS DOOR. WHEN TURNED TO OTHER SIDE TO OPEN THE DOOR FOR MY GIRL, NOTED CAR WAS LOCKED AND IGNITION TURNED OFF WITH MY 3YO SON INSIDE. ALL DOORS WERE LOCKED DESPITE KEYS BEING INSIDE CAR AND IGNITION OFF. REMOTE CONTROL WAS OPERABLE WITH BATTERIES FUNCTIONING WELL. SCHOOL DIRECTOR CALLED 911 AND FIRE DEPARTMENT WENT TO ASSIST. THEY WERE UNABLE TO OPEN DOOR AND AFTER ~20MINUTES OF MY SON BEING INSIDE, BUCKLED AND IN FLORIDA HEAT, EMT AND FIRE FIGHTERS HAD TO BREAK A WINDOW TO GET HIM OUT. WHEN I WAS ABLE TO GET HIM, HE WAS EXTREMELY HOT WITH ELEVATED TEMPERATURE AND SOAKED IN SWEAT. THANKFULLY I WAS NOT WITH MY 3MONTH OLD BABY THAT DAY. SINCE MY BOY'S TEMPERATURE WAS COMING DOWN NICELY WITH SUPPORTIVE MEASURES I DID NOT TAKE HIM TO THE HOSPITAL AND DECIDED TO OBSERVE AT HOME. CAR HAD SERVICE 6 DAYS PRIOR TO THIS EVENT IN AUDI FORT MYERS NEXT DAY ON 10/08/10, TOOK CAR TO AUDI FORT MYERS AND REPORTED EVENT TO SERVICE DEPARTMENT, COMPUTER SYSTEM WAS CHECKED AND NO EVENT WAS REGISTERED. THEN I WAS TOLD BY EMPLOYEES AT AUDI, THEY COULD NOT EXPLAIN THE EVENT BUT NOTHING THEY CAN DO AND NO NEED TO REPORT TO AUDI USA.

KEPT LIGHT APPEARS ON DASH THAT ADD 1 QT OF OIL FOR 6 TIMES. BEFORE THIS LIGHT APPEARS, CAR ALWAYS SUDDENLY STOPPED WHILE IM DRIVING OR PARKED. LAST SATURADAY 1/11, MY CAR WAS SUDDENLY STOPPED ON HIGHWAY AND ENGINE WAS RUNNING AND SO LOUD AFTER CAR STOPPED BUT CANNOT CHANGE ANY GEARS FOR FEW SECONDS. I'M SO FRUSTRATED AND SCARED TO OPERATE THIS VEHICLE. I WENT TO AUDI SERVICE BUT THEY DON'T FOUND ANY PROBLEMS AND REFILLED OIL AGAIN. IN MY 6 TIMES OF THIS EXPERIENCE, LIGHT WILL BE APPEARED AND CAR WILL BE STOPPED WHILE OPERATING AGAIN. MUST BE FIXED THIS MATTER BY AUDI

PURCHASED A NEW 2018 AUDI Q7 LATE JUNE 2018 WITH GOODYEAR EAGLE ALL SEASON TIRES (285/45R20). I NOTICED ROUGH HANDLING AND ROAD NOISE AT 7,000 MILES. I CHECKED THE TIRES AND THEY WERE WORN UNEVENLY. THE DEALER SAID THEY NEEDED TO BE ROTATED AND THAT IT WOULD GO AWAY, BUT IT'S BEEN ANOTHER 9,000 MILES AND IT HASN'T IMPROVED. THE TIRES ARE PIRELLI SCORPION VERDE ALL SEASON RUN FLATS. THEY ARE WEARING HORRIBLY ONLY ON THE INSIDE HALF OF THE TIRES. I HAD A FOUR WHEEL ALIGNMENT DONE, BUT IT HASN'T HELPED THE UNEVEN WEAR. THE WEAR PATTERN IS WAVY, LIKE A ROLLER COASTER. I BELIEVE THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THESE TIRES. THE CAR IS A 2018 AUDI Q7.

THE OEM GOODYEAR EAGLE RUN FLAT TECHNOLOGY (RFT) TIRES THAT WERE ORIGINALLY INSTALLED ON THE VEHICLE ARE STARTING TO "CHUNK" ON THE OUTER EDGES OF THE TIRE. THE TREAD IS STILL AT 8/32 AND THE CAR ONLY HAS 9,700 MILES ON IT. THIS IS A WELL DOCUMENTED ISSUE ON 2018 AUDI Q7'S WITH THIS TIRE, SO MUCH SO THAT THERE IS A TSB OUT FOR THE ISSUE. HOWEVER, AUDI AND THE DEALERSHIP HAVE DECLINED TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE TIRES EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE CLEARLY WEARING DIFFERENTLY THAN THE BACK ONES. THEIR EXPLANATION IS THAT THIS IS "NORMAL WEAR", BUT NO OTHER CAR I HAVE DRIVEN HAS HAD THIS TYPE OF TIRE WEAR.

THE DRIVER ASSIST SYSTEM ON THE CAR HAS BEEN COMPLETELY MALFUNCTIONING. IT WILL SLAM ON THE BRAKES WHEN TURNING, AND HAS ALMOST CAUSED SEVERAL ACCIDENTS. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE DEALERSHIP FOR A TOTAL OF MORE THAN A MONTH WITH NO RESOLUTION

DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 29 AND SUV STARTED ACTING FUNNY AND THEN STOPPED. CALLED AUDI CARE AND THEY HAD TRUCK TOWED TO OMAHA NE. THEY PUT IN NEW FUEL TANK, PUMP AND LINE. HAD MY SUV IN SHOP FOR TWO WEEKS LESS THAN TWO WEEKS LATER DRIVING AND ALL THE SUDDEN MY GAS LIGHT COMES ON. I STOPPED AND PUT GAS IN AND GOT HOME. DROVE INTO THE GARAGE AND FUEL WAS RUNNING OUT FROM UNDER THE TRUCK. CALLED AUDI CARE AGAIN AND COULDN'T GET TOWED UNTIL FUEL STOPPED LEAKING BECAUSE OF SAFETY CONCERNS. TRUCK HAS BEEN IN SHOP FOR OVER TWO WEEKS AGAIN. SO, OUT OF OVER 6 WEEKS I HAVE HAD MY Q7 FOR LESS THAN TWO WEEKS TO DRIVE.

EXCESSIVE TIRE WEAR CONTINENTAL TIRES INSTALLED AS ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT WORN OUT AT 14,000 MILES; IDENTICAL TIRES INSTALLED AND SHOWING EXCESSIVE WEAR AT 3500 MILES.

VEHICLE GETS LOCKED AND CAN'T UNLOCK IT EVEN WHEN KEYS ARE IN PANTS POCKET. NEED TO GO TO DRIVER SEAT AND UNLOCK IT. IT HAPPENED TO MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN I HAD THE KEY IN MY POCKET AND I CAME TO BACK SEAT TO GET SOMETHING AND CLOSED THE DOOR. CAR GOT LOCKE AND COULD NOT UNLOCK IT FROM REAR SEATS. THE VEHICLE HAD COME TO A COMPLETE STOP WHEN A RED WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND INDICATED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICING. THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN IF THE DRIVER ASSIST FUNCTION WAS FAULTY AND COULD CAUSE A CRASH. AFTER THE FAILURE RECURRED, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER FOR FURTHER DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THE CONTACT WAS WAITING TO DETERMINE IF THEY HAD A REMEDY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

OUR Q7 3.0T PRESTIGE ENGINE BLEW WHILE DRIVING AND LEFT US STRANDED ON A COUNTRY ROAD AT 12:45 IN THE MORNING. THEN TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY, AFTER FIGHTING WITH AUDI CARE FOR THE LAST MONTH THEY ONLY AGREED TO REIMBURSE US $200 OUT OF A $525 TOW BILL BECAUSE WE DIDN'T CALL THEM TO SCHEDULE THE TOW. WE DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THAT SERVICE EXISTED AND AT 12:45 AM WITH A CAR THAT JUST DIED AND WAS IN THE ROAD, WE JUST WANTED TO CONTACT THE CLOSEST PLACE AND GET OUR CAR OFF THE ROAD AS WE WERE WORRIED ABOUT OUR SAFETY AND GETTING HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE.

AUDI HAS A PRE SENSE FEATURE THAT WILL AUTOMATICALLY SLAM ON THE BRAKES. IT FAILS CONSTANTLY AND SLAMS ON THE BRAKES AT VARIOUS TIMES. I BOUGHT A BRAND NEW 2018 AUDI Q7 PRETIGE WITH GOODYEAR RUN FLAT TIRES. ALL FOUR TIRES FAILED OR ARE FAILING WITH TREAD LOSS AND TREAD SEPARATION/DELAMINATING. I BOUGHT TIRE HAZARD COVERAGE AT ADDED COST. AT 6500 MILES ONE TIRE LOST A LARGE TREAD SECTION, AND THIS TIRE WAS REPLACED BY AUDI BEND OREGON. AS OF TODAY WHEN I TOOK CAR TO AUDI NAPLES FL, NOW THE OTHER THREE TIRES AT 17000 MILES ALL SHOW DEFECT. AUDI WILL NOT STAND BY THE WARRANTY STATE NO IT'S OVER 12000 MILEDELAMINATION/FRAYING TREAD. THE CAR CAN BE LOCKED BY A TODDLER FROM REAR SEAT EVEN WHEN THE CHILD SAFETY IS ENABLED WHILE THE CAR IS IDLE. IT DOES NOT MATTER WHETHER THE REMOTE/KEY IS INSIDE OR OUTSIDE THE CAR. WHEN THE CAR IS IDLE, YOU CANNOT UNLOCK THE CAR USING THE REMOTE AND THE TODDLER WILL BE LOCKED INSIDE THE CAR. THIS CASE IS THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE CASE OF NHTSA ID NUMBER: 10626358, WHICH WAS REPORTED FOR 2014 AUDI Q7 IN 2014. I SEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND LOTS OF PEOPLE ARE REPORTING SIMILAR PROBLEM. BUT THIS CASE POTENTIALLY CAN BE DEADLY FOR THE TODDLER IF THE CAR IS PARKED IN A NON-OPEN SPACE. THE 2014 CASE REPORT MENTIONED THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN THERE FOR AT LEAST 5 YEAR BEFORE 2014. SO, IT HAS BEEN ALMOST 10 YEAR SINCE THE PROBLEM WAS REPORTED. FORTUNATELY, THE MOTHER WAS INSIDE THE CAR TOGETHER WITH THE TODDLE AND SHE UNLOCKED THE CAR FROM INSIDE. OTHERWISE, IT WILL BE A TRAGIC DAY FOR US WITH ALMOST 0 DEGREE AND THE SNOW STORM. AUDI NEED TO DISABLE THE 'LOCK ALL DOOR FROM REAR' FUNCTION. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN AND AUDI SHOULD PAY ATTENTION TO FIX THE PROBLEM. IN SUMMARY, THERE ARE TWO SITUATIONS THAT THE TODDLER CAN LOCK HIMSELF INSIDE THE CAR: 1. THE CAR IS NOT RUNNING. THE TODDLER CAN LOCK HIMSELF IN THE CAR IF THE PARENTS ACCIDENTLY LEFT THE REMOTE IN THE CAR. FOR THIS CASE, THE PARENTS CAN UNLOCK THE CAR WITH THE OTHER SET OF REMOTE. 2. THE CAR IS RUNNING. THE TODDLER CAN LOCK HIMSELF IN THE CAR NO MATTER WHERE THE REMOTE IS. BUT IN THIS CASE, THE DOOR CANNOT BE UNLOCKED WITH THE REMOTE. SO, IF YOU ARE OUTSIDE THE CAR (FOR EXAMPLE, JUST FINISHED BUCKLING UP THE TODDLER), YOU ARE OUT OF LUCK. I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU CAN DO BEFORE THE CAR IS OUT OF GAS. AND THIS SITUATION IS MORE DANGEROUS.

I WAS TAKING A U-TURN UNDER A FREEWAY IN MY 10 MONTH OLD AUDI Q7. AS I WAS FINISHING THE U-TURN A STABILIZATION ERROR MESSAGE APPEARED AND MY BRAKES WENT OUT. I WAS FINISHING MY UTURN AND COULDN'T SLOW DOWN SOI ENDED UP RUNNING INTO THE CEMENT BARRIER WITH MY RIGHT BACK WHEEL AND WENT ONTO THE FEEDER. LUCKILY IT WAS AT 5AM SO NO OTHER CARS WERE ON THE ROAD. HITTING THE BARRIER SLOWED BY CAR DOWN TO 5 MPH. AS I STRAIGHTENED OUT MY CAR, THE BRAKES STARTED WORKING AGAIN. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP SAID AUDI OF AMERICA HAD TO LOOK AT IT. THE ENGINEER FINALLY CAME TO LOOK AT IT ON JAN 3RD (3 WEEKS AFTER THE ACCIDENT). HE SAID THAT THEY COULDN'T TEST DRIVE THE CAR BECAUSE THE CONTROL ARM WAS BROKEN BUT THE TESTS THEY RAN SHOWED THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE CAR AND TOLD ME TO CALL MY INSURANCE. I ASKED HOW THEY KNEW NOTHING WAS WRONG AND THEY SAID TESTS WERE RUN. I ASKED HOW THEY EXPLAINED THE ERROR MESSAGES (STABILIZATION ERROR AND SAFETY ERROR). THEY SAID THOSE CAME UP AFTER THE ACCIDENT. THEY DON'T THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT SO HOW DO THEY KNOW THIS?. I TOOK PICTURES OF THE ERROR MESSAGES AND KNOW THE TIMING OF THAT. I ASKED FOR A PRINT OUT OF THEIR FINDINGS 3 TIMES. IT HAS BEEN 10 DAYS AND I STILL HAVE NOT GOTTEN ANYTHING FROM THEM. THE CAR IS STILL SITTING AT THE DEALERSHIP.

THE BRAKES HAVE SQUEALED SINCE 3K MILES. NO MATTER THE WEATHER CONDITIONS MAY BE. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IS NORMAL, BUT I AM RESEARCHING OTHERWISE. AT 5AM LEAVING THE HOME, THE BRAKES SQUEAL, AT 2PM SQUEALING, 5PM SQUEALING, MIDNIGHT SQUEALING. FOR BEING A LUXURY VEHICLE I LOVE AND TRUST, THIS MAKES ME EXTREMELY NERVOUS AND EMBARRASSED WHEN NEIGHBORS ARE OUT AND HEAR THIS SQUEALING. THE BRAKE FOOT PEDAL DOES NOT GLIDE WHEN BEING USED. THE STEERING WHEEL HAS A LOCKING MOTION WHEN BEING USED ON TURNS.

CAR IS EQUIPPED WITH 360 DEGREE CAMERAS AND SYSTEM DEFAULTS TO GRAPHIC MODE (VS CAMERA MODE) IN AN UNPREDICTABLE MANNER. THIS REQUIRES THE USER, WHILE IN REVERSE, TO CHANGE THE SETTINGS BACK TO CAMERA MODE IN ORDER TO SEE THE VEHICLE CLEARLY IN THE SYSTEM. THIS IS A SAFETY-RELATED DEFECT DUE TO THE DISTRACTING NATURE OF THE UNPREDICTABILITY OF THE STATE OF YOUR BACKUP CAMERA, THE COGNITIVELY COMPLEX AND DISTRACTING STEPS NEEDED TO CHANGE TO CAMERA VIEW WHILE YOU ARE BACKING UP, AND THE SAFETY ISSUE CAUSED BY NOT HAVING THE CAMERAS WORK PROPERLY. I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS AFFECTS NEARLY EVERY AUDI WITH THIS OPTION SOLD IN THE 2018 MODEL YEAR. IT IS ALSO MY UNDERSTANDING THAT AUDI HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THIS SAFETY ISSUE BUT HAS REFUSED TO OFFER ANY SOLUTION FOR OVER A YEAR -- AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, HAS CONTINUED TO KNOWINGLY SELL THOUSANDS OF VEHICLES WITH THIS DEFECT, AND HAS MISREPRESENTED THE SAFETY FEATURES OF THESE CARS.

WHILE IN REVERSE BACKING UP, THE BACKUP CAMERA UNPREDICTABLY REVERTS TO USELESS "GRAPHIC" MODE DESPITE REPEATEDLY BEING SET TO "CAMERA" MODE. CHANGING THIS SETTING WHILE BACKING UP IS DANGEROUS, DISTRACTING AND UNPREDICTABLE. SOMETIMES IT WORKS CORRECTLY AND STAYS IN CAMERA MODE, OTHER RANDOM TIMES IT REVERTS TO GRAPHICS MODE. THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT OF MOST 2018 AUDI VEHICLES AND HAS BEEN UPDATED IN LATER RELEASED VEHICLES, BUT NO UPDATE TO EXISTING VEHICLES HAS BEEN OFFERED.

THE OVERHEAD CAMERA VIEW WILL NOT STAY SET. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS ONE CANNOT SEE THE AREA AROUND THE CAR WHEN PARKING. THIS IS APPARENTLY A SOFTWARE PROBLEM AND HAS BEEN KNOWN TO AUDI SINCE AUGUST 2017. THEY HAVE YET TO ADDRESS IT.

REVERSE BIRDS EYE CAMERA OFTEN FLIPS TO A DIFFERENT MODE AND YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT CAMERA VIEW YOU WILL GET. HAPPENS ONCE OUT OF EVERY 2-5 REVERSES. THIS IS A SAFETY-RELATED DEFECT DUE TO THE UNPREDICTABILITY OF THE STATE OF YOUR BACKUP CAMERA. I MUST THEN GO THROUGH A MULTI STEP PROCESS TO REVERT IT BACK. THIS APPEARS TO AFFECT NEARLY EVERY AUDI WITH THIS OPTION SOLD IN THE 2018 MODEL YEAR.

WHEN CAR IS PLACED IN REVERSE A "P" OR PARK IS STILL DISPLAYED IN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THIS HAS HAPPED SEVERAL TIMES. AUDI SERVICE WAS PROVIDED PICTURES AND VIDEO OF OCCURRENCES AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD GET BACK TO ME. THEY NEVER DID. ALSO NOW HAVE SOS MALFUNCTION WARNING DISPLAYED. CAR ONLY HAS 7K MILES ON IT.

WHEN ATTEMPTING TO CROSSOVER A BUSY INTERSECTION, AND TRYING TO DETERMINE THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND MYSELF, THE 2018 AUDI Q7, HAS A HESITATION BEFORE THE VEHICLE STARTS IT ACCELERATION. I HAVE HAD TWO OCCASIONS WHERE THE VEHICLE JUST WOULD START A SLOW ACCELERATION BUT WOULD HESITATE BEFORE ENGAGING AT ITS HIGHER ACCELERATION. THIS CAUSING THE ONCOMING VEHICLES NEARLY HITTING MY VEHICLE. I HAVE TAKEN THIS TO THE LOCAL AUDI DEALERSHIP AND SAID THAT IS NORMAL. I VALIDATED THE OPERATION, WHEN THEY LET ME TEST A NEW AUDI Q7, AND HAD SIMILAR OR WORSE SYMPTOMS. THEIR ONLY WORK AROUND IS TO ENGAGE THE VEHICLE INTO "SPORT" MODE. THAT MODE HELPS WITH THE RESPONSE. BASICALLY IF, I STEP ON THE GAS PEDDLE, I SHOULD EXPECT IT TO DRIVE AND BE RESPONSIVE AND NOT HESITATE. HAVING THAT HESITATION, MAKE IT VERY DIFFICULT TO DETERMINE WHEN ACCELERATE.

THE 2018 AUDI Q7 HAS BEEN IN FOR SERVICE THREE TIMES SINCE I LEASED THE CAR ON 9/11/2017. YOUR TEAM PROCEEDED TO CHECK THE VEHICLE BACK IN FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATION. ASIDE FROM CONTINUED REBOOTS OF THE AUDI COMPUTER SYSTEM OR MMI SYSTEM, THE CAR WOULD FLAG AUDI PRE SENSE WARNINGS AND FORCE THE CAR TO STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERSECTIONS, MID TURN. ONCOMING TRAFFIC WAS ESTIMATED AT 150 YARDS FROM THE INTERSECTION WHEN THE CAR JAMMED TO A STOP. THE SENSORS APPEAR TO STOP THE CAR AFTER IDENTIFYING A FALSE READ. THE CAR IS THEN STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION CAUSING SIGNIFICANT SAFETY RISK. AUDI REPLACED THE MMI SYSTEM AND THE FUEL TANK AFTER IDENTIFYING A FAULTY VALVE. AFTER THE REPAIRS, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUES. AUDI WAS NOT ABLE TO IDENTIFY THE SOURCE OF THE ISSUE AND CLAIMED THAT THE PRE SENSE SYSTEM SENSORS WERE SET TO A HIGH SENSITIVITY. THEY ALSO CLAIMED THAT A POTHOLE OR A BIRD COULD SET OFF THE SENSORS, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION. THIS SEEMS LIKE A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. BY THE WAY, I WAS DRIVING A LOANER CAR FOR OVER THREE MONTHS WHILE THEY ATTEMPTED TO FIX MY VEHICLE AND FALSE PRE SENSE WARNINGS ARE COMMON.

2018 AUDIO Q. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO PARKING BRAKE MALFUNCTION. *LD THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE MUST BE PUT IN TO NEUTRAL AND SELECT THE "P" FOR PARKING. THE CONSUMER STATED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS NOT ACTIVATED BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS ON LEVEL LAND. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE ROLLED INTO A PARKED VEHICLE. NO ALARMS WENT OFF INDICATING THE VEHICLE WAS NOT IN PARK. THE REAR LIFTGATE WOULD NOT OPEN WHEN USING A FOOT. IT NEEDED TO BE CHARGED. *JS
