Originally, in April 2013, Hyundai recalled 1,059,824 model year 2007-2009 Accent and Tucson, model year 2007-2010 Elantra, model year 2007-2011 Santa Fe, model year 2008-2009 Veracruz, model year 2010-2011 Genesis Coupe, and model year 2011 Sonata vehicles. In September 2013, Hyundai informed the agency that it was adding more vehicles to this campaign, representing an additional 652,512 units. The total number of vehicles being recalled is now 1,712,336. In the affected vehicles, the stop lamp switch may malfunction. A malfunctioning stop lamp switch may cause the brake lights to not illuminate when the brake pedal is depressed or may cause an inability to deactivate the cruise control by depressing the brake pedal. Additionally, a malfunctioning stop lamp switch may also result in intermittent operation of the push-button start feature, affect the operation of the brake transmission shift interlock feature, preventing the shifter from being moved out of the PARK position and cause the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) malfunction light to illuminate.

Good afternoon, my name is [XXX] . I purchased my 2009 Hyundai Azera limited edition in 2019 used with 98385 miles after I had the car for 9mths the car stopped running and the company I purchased the car from uses a repair company called Silver Rock which maintained the car I was told a belt popped after receiving the car back 2 days later the engine blow. They replaced the engine and from there The check engine light stayed on the Diagnostics check stated the O2 sensor needed attention repaired that light went off for a week after a week the check engine light returned had it checked again and the O2 sensor showed up again so I had someone else change them again light went off 2 days later the check engine Light appeared again but with ABS on ESC off TPMS on had another Diagnostics completed and it still shows O2 senors And ABS failure and to constantly replace the issue and it's not working properly afterward has a little upset. Now I saw that Hyundai has a recall on My 2009 Hyundai Azera for the ABS and the interior light which has stopped as well from my understanding but when I called to get help I was told my car is not a part of that recall which is confusing because I am very much having problems with those systems and from what I've read in the manual multiple chain reactions occur With an ABS stops. My car is now not allowing my keyfob to work, the drunk switch on the door and inside the clove box has stopped, and the release for the back seats is not responding I was never given a master key so I can't access the trunk, and the system will unlock the driver door but none of the others there is an issue where the main power box under the hood is not responding to fuse 3,4,17,18,19,20,21,22,23,24 and the same issue is happening to my fuse connection on the inside of the car and when you turn the engine everything is in reverse meaning: door usually lock now the unlock, the AC comes on, the radio comes on, the back window curtain moves. THE MECHANIC ADVISED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE ALSO EXPERIENCED WATER DAMAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

TOW TRUCK DRIVER TESTED BATTERY AND FOUND LOW ALTERNATOR OUTPUT. REPLACED ALTERNATOR AND VALVE COVER GASKET WHERE OIL WAS LEAKING ONTO ALTERNATOR. ONCE REPAIRED, CONTINUED TO GET P0108 ERROR CODE AND STALLING AFTER 20 MIN OF RUN. REMOVED PAINT AND ADDED ELECTRICAL GEL TO ALL MAIN GROUND WIRE TO BODY/FRAME POINTS (ALL WERE PAINTED, UNSURE HOW IT WAS GROUNDED IN FIRST PLACE). PROBLEM PERSISTED WITH NEW CODES NOW P2106, P1295, P0122, P0222, P0123, P0108, P2173, P161B. LIMPED CAR TO LOCAL SHOP AND CALLED HYUNDAI, WHO ASSIGNED CASE #16592407. SHOP SAID MAP SENSOR WAS BAD, REPLACED WITH NEW SENSOR. PROBLEM PERSISTED WITH P0108 CODE IN DRIVEWAY IDLING. DID VACUUM CHECK ON TUBING BUT FOUND BARE WIRES ON WIRING RUN THAT HOLDS OIL PRESSURE, MAP SENSOR, ENGINE TEMP SENSOR AND OTHERS ON 1/1/20. UNDER FABRIC WRAP AROUND WIRE BUNDLES, ALL WIRING INSULATION HAS DISSENTIGRATED CAUSING SHORT CIRCUITS AND BAD MAP SENSOR VOLTAGE. ALL WIRING IS BAD THAT RUNS ACROSS ENGINE TOP HAS BAD INSULATION ALMOST TO ALTERNATOR. EXTREME FIRE HAZARD. ATTEMPTING TO CONTACT DEALER. INSULATION ON WIRES CANNOT HANDLE ENGINE TEMPS AND DISINTEGRATES LEAVING BARE WIRES. 2009 HYUNDAI AZERA WITH 3.3 L V6, 123,000 MILES.

WE WERE IN HEAVY TRUCK AND CAR TRAFFIC BUT WERE ABLE ,BY LUCK TO GET INTO A STRIPPED AREA TO STOP. WE LOOKED IN THE MANUAL AND FOUND WE COULD RESTART THE ENGINE BY TURNING THE IGNITION ON AFTER SHUTTING IT DOWN. THIS HAPPENED 3 KMORE TIMES UNTIL WE WERE ABLE TO GET TO A SAFE PLACE AND WERE ADVISED BY A LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALER NOT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE . WE EVENTUALLY GOT TOWED TO OUR HOME ON LONG ISLAND BY AAA . LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALER SENT US TO ATLANTIC HYUNDAI FOR REPAIR.

THIS PART SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A CRITICAL SAFETY ITEM AND TESTED TO FAILURE FOR THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. FAILURE OF THIS PART CAN LEAD TO ACCIDENTS RESULTING IN INJURY OF DEATH.

WHILE THE CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY THE DEALERSHIP HAS ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR THE ISSUE SEVERAL TIMES, AND YET THE ERA CODE STILL REAPPEAR. THEY ARE UNWILLING TO REPAIR THE TPMS ERROR LIGHT THAT CONTINUES TO APPEAR. IT SEEMS THAT THIS IS A DEFECT IN THE CARS TMPS SYSTEM.

ON 10/28/14 I HAD TO REPLACE THE LEAKING VALVE COVER GASKETS AT 50,288 MILES ON THE 2009 AZERA AND ON 12/6/14 I HAD TO MAKE THE SAME REPAIRS ON THE 2008 AZERA AT 54,035 MILES (VIN# [XXX]). THE AZERA HAS THE EXACT SAME ENGINE AS THE HYUNDAI VERACRUZ. MODELS 2007-2012 OF THE VERACRUZ WERE RECALLED ON 7/10/14 FOR THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM (RECALL 121). WHEN I CONTACTED HYUNDAI THEY REFUSED ANY ASSISTANCE AND SAID THEY WOULD ONLY MAKE FREE REPAIRS ON THE VERACRUZ EVEN THOUGH THE ENGINE IN THE AZERA IS EXACTLY THE SAME. THE AZERA SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE RECALL WITH THE VERACRUZ AND HYUNDAI SHOULD MAKE THE REPAIRS TO THE AZERA FREE OF CHARGE. THANK YOU FOR ANY ASSISTANCE YOU CAN PROVIDE. I PAID A PREMIUM FOR AN IN-DASH NAVIGATION SYSTEM. HYUNDAI HAS NOW DECIDED THAT THEY ARE NOT PROVIDING MAP UPDATES FOR VEHICLES PURCHASED BEFORE 2011.
