The sunroof’s drain ports clogging up is a known common issue to Infiniti dealers, as I have learned while taking my car in after the entire dashboard & electronics shorted out. The mechanic told me this is a common occurrence during the rainy season. Water may intrude the body through the clogged ports and the first location the water goes, happens to be the lower passenger side which ALSO happens to be the location of the body control module (BCM). The car has stopped operating on me in the middle of driving, and also wouldn’t allow me to get out of the gear I was in. What could be a $50 - $150 repair turns into a $2500 - $2800 repair.

I have been having issues with my passenger airbag warning light. The issue is warning light will not go out. I took my vehicle to an Infiniti dealer for a diagnostic. Dealer found code DTC B1018 OCS unit failure. Much to my disbelief and, dealer recommends new passenger side air bag diagnoses module and lower seat frame before further diagnosis. What really angered me was the price to repair a safety issue on this vehicle that wasn't caused by an accident or repair . The quoted module price was $1275.00, price for lower seat frame is $7695.00. Note, this is the price for parts and didn't include labor. At that point, I didn't ask what the labor cost was because I was flabbergasted and taken aback by the the excessively high price for repair. After reading 100's of forums, many are having the same issue with their Infinities and other Nissan Vehicles. Infinity and NHTSA must be aware of this massive problem and Infiniti/Nissan needs to correct this flaw in engineering at the companies expense. We as consumers who pay a lot for these vehicles should be protected. My concern is I have lupus and Arthritis and have chronic pain daily and need my car for numerous doctors visits. Since my health diagnosis I haven't been able to work the past seven years and can't afford to pay over $ 9000.00 to fix a otherwise good running vehicle but also can't afford to get into a car accident because the airbag will not deploy. Since I do have an illness, a car accident without a working airbag system my injuries or worst would be exacerbated by this Infiniti/Nissan flaw in engineering. Please advise as I need assistance with getting my car repaired.

Sunroof drain has malfunctioned multiple times, even after having the Infiniti dealer replace with brand new ones. This was a very expensive repair and has already failed again. Upon searching the internet, this is a known, common problem and Infiniti should have recalled this issue. Water has leaked into my car onto my electronics. Luckily, nothing major has occurred while I was driving like it has for other owners of this same vehicle, but my power functions are malfunctioning because of this flawed component. The vehicle has been inspected and repaired by an Infiniti dealer, who also told me that this is a very common issue with this vehicle and sometimes causes the car to shut off while it is being driven. There are no warnings for this issue - just a bunch of water leaking straight into the car and underneath the floorboard, where many electrical components are housed.

The occupant sensor in the front passenger seat has failed, rendering the Supplemental Restraint System (airbag) compromised and partially nonfunctional. Upon inspection, dealer states that they cannot ensure that entire SRS will function properly unless repaired. The proposed solution is to replace the Occupant Sensor Unit at a cost of $4,905. The SRS indicator light remains on as I have not agreed with Infiniti Dealer's proposed costly replacement. This puts the driver and any/all occupants at risk. There is a reasonable amount of internet discussion concerning this problem/safety issue with Infiniti.

I just bought this vehicle from carmax mid May 2022 and a little over 1 month now the car completely died. I drove it the prior day came home parked it in my driveway as aways and the next day when I had to go to work I was not able to unlock car doors with the fob key. I then proceeded to trying to unlock the car door with the option on the door handle and that did not work either. At that point I was already irritated and had to call work to let them know my current situation. I then tried the manual option key to open the door which worked but everything was dead. No lights no noise no clicking from the engine when push to start just dead. I assumed that I was sold a vehicle with a bad battery which already has me questioning carmaxs point inspection before selling a vehicle. This is already causing such an inconvenience on me but I need my vehicle for work so I then call my car insurance due to having roadside assistance and let them know I need a jump start because I’m really hopping that’s what it is. When roadside assistance arrives they set up the cables and then I’m told to start my vehicle. OMG. It did not start. At that point I was now feeling mad, taking advantage of, annoyed. Why am I going through something like this when I just bought the car over 1 month ago. Yes I know it’s a pre owned vehicle but having 62k miles you’d think you’d avoid these situations since they are always saying low mileage is better and it was still priced tagged at 23K at carmax and with financing well you get the picture. The roadside gentleman tells me that this car has seems to have something major that caused it to just die. I’m just like WOW. This is ridiculous. Now I have a complete dead vehicle that needs to be towed and I guess I have to contact carmax to let them know. This has been a nightmare and so extremely inconvenient on me and I might as well just mentioned that I also had the worst experience in my life buying this vehicle with carmax. I feel played.

This is a well known problem with this particular vehicle and cost 7000 plus to fix at dealership because the entire seat needs replaced. Airbag sensor bad. Due to poor design of location of sensor, The repair for this sensor involves the complete removal and replacement of the front passenger seat. The cost of the repair for this sensor estimate from dealership is $4200. Neither Infiniti nor Nissan will financially assist with this obscene repair cost due to design and location of sensor. Without this repair, no airbag in the car will work as intended. We were told that should the driver continue to drive the vehicle without the repair, the airbag could spontaneously deploy, potentially causing great bodily harm to driver and the public. The other issue that is likely to occur is that should the vehicle be involved in an accident, none of the airbags will deploy as intended. The car can not be driven at this time. The airbag light flickered and then stayed on beginning June 2022. The Infiniti dealership in Clearwater, Florida inspected the issue and diagnosed with repair estimate. They offer no other remedy nor any further financial assistance to repair this vehicle from regional nor corporate offices of both Infinit and Nissan.

Two weeks after having my G37 serviced at the Las Vegas dealership the engine shut down while driving on the freeway at full speed. The car rapidly lost power and speed. The gas peddle was unresponsive and after decelerating, the car would only move forward at very slow speed. A major accident was avoided only through the quick actions of trailing traffic which had to slam on their brakes. After towing back to the dealership they reported the heater hose failed. Their vehicle inspection report provided to me two weeks early reported the heater hoses and connectors where inspected and did not require replacement. When I Questioned this they stated it was a plastic part within the heater hose that failed and they don't check that. I consulted the maintenance manual for the car and at now mileage or time point does infiniti recommend replacing the hose. I have had this car serviced at an Infinity dealership every 7,500 miles since bought new. At no time did they ever recommend replacing the hose. This may be more of a safety issue with Infiniti's service program than the car. But the car computers response to the condition also but driver safety at risk.

I am writing the complaint to inform you and request an investigation into the Infiniti Advanced Air Bag System (AABS) passenger seat sensor. I recently purchased a 2011 Infiniti G37x sedan with approximately 62,251 miles on June 28th, 2021. This vehicle has had one owner prior to me and has a clean CarFax report with no issued accidents or collisions reported, based on the overall evaluation from an independent repair shop. The main issue experienced with the G37x vehicle and the reason for the manufacturer should create a safety recall was the air bag seat sensor was malfunctioning, as verified by an independent mechanic. I have experienced other vehicle manufacturers issue voluntary recalls and repairs because these passenger occupancy sensors may degrade and fail to detect a passenger in the front seat. This appears to be a very common recall issue. The fault code presented from the ODB-II confirmed to be the air bag seat sensor was malfunctioning and required to be replaced/repaired completely, or all the airbags would not deploy at all to the passenger and both the driver. I am therefore requesting that INFINITI/Nissan North America to investigate and note this experience/issue with the air bag seat sensor and issue a recall for this particular issue to the owners of such affected vehicles. I deem that there is a risk of many vehicles that are having a similar issue with the seat sensor which will cause the air bag system to not function properly in the event of an accident or collision when the air bag would needed to be deployed. THE CONSUMER STATED THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. UNLIKE A PREVIOUS HARDTOP CONVERTIBLE I OWNED (VOLKSWAGEN EOS), THE ROOF ON THE INFINITI GOES DOWN EVEN WHEN THERE IS AN OBSTRUCTION IN THE TRUNK SPACE (SUCH AS A BOOK). [THE ROOF OF THE EOS WOULD NOT GO DOWN UNTIL THE OBSTRUCTION WAS REMOVED]. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE WITH THE INFINITI, CAUSING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS OF DAMAGE TO MY CAR. MY CONCERN IS THAT IF A CHILD WERE TO CLIMB INTO THE TRUNK (GOD FORBID) AND THE TOP WERE TO BE ENGAGED, THERE WOULD BE NOTHING TO STOP THE ROOF FROM CRUSHING THE CHILD. ON SEVERAL INSTANCES, WHEN PULLING OUT OF A DRIVEWAY INTO ONCOMING ARTERIAL TRAFFIC, THERE HAS BEEN NO RESPONSE TO THROTTLE INPUT. A DELAY OF 2 ~ 4 SECONDS HAS OCCURRED AND CREATES AN EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS SITUATION. THIS FAULT HAS ALSO OCCURRED AT FREEWAY SPEEDS WHEN ATTEMPTING TO PASS FROM SPEEDS BETWEEN 40 & 75 MPH! THIS BEHAVIOR WAS NOT OCCUR INITIALLY, UNTIL THE CAR HAD ABOUT 3,000 MILES. I HAVE CONTACTED INFINITI USA, AND KEPT AN APPOINTMENT WITH A REGIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE REP. ALONG WITH A DEALER SERVICE MANAGER IN TACOMA, WA LAST DECEMBER. THE OUTCOME OF THIS DIALOG WAS THAT THE VEHICLE DID NOT EXHIBIT THE "FAULT" ON THAT TEST DRIVE, THE MANUFACTURER IS AWARE OF "SOME CUSTOMER CONCERNS REGARDING THE 7-SPEED AT BEHAVIOR", AND THAT THERE IS NO SERVICE BULLETIN AS-YET TO RESOLVE SUCH A FAULT. THE REGIONAL REP. DID SUGGEST THAT (UN-OFFICIALLY), THERE IS AN EFFORT SEEKING TO RELEASE A SERVICE BULLETIN UPDATE IN THE FORM OF A PCM / TCM FLASH OF ROM DATA (MAPPING) TO RESOLVE THE ONGOING COMPLAINTS OF UN-RELIABLE TRANSMISSION & POWER TRAIN RESPONSE BEHAVIORS. THERE HAVE ALREADY BEEN 2 SUCH SERVICE BULLETINS TO RESOLVE OTHER MINOR ANNOYANCE BEHAVIORS REGARDING SHIFT QUALITY, BUT NOT FOR THIS GROSS LACK OF COMMAND / CONTROL. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE CONTACT APPROACHED A STOP SIGNAL, ENGAGED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD WITH AN INCREASE IN THE RPMS. THE IDENTICAL FAILURE OCCURRED FIVE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON SIX OCCASIONS REGARDING THE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE OR DETECT A TROUBLE CODE DURING THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST; HOWEVER, THE ELECTRONIC MODULE WAS REPROGRAMMED. THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,000.

AS I WAS WAITING TO CROSS A MAJOR HIGHWAY JUNCTION IN UPPER MARLBORO, MD, I ALMOST HAD A COLLISION AFTER CROSSING THE HIGHWAY DUE TO WHAT I SUSPECT A FAULTY TRANSMISSION WITH HESITATION IN SHIFTING. THERE WAS A SUV WAITING TO TURN AND WHILE I HAD THE RIGHT OF WAY, THEY PULLED OFF AND AS MY CHANCE TO CROSS THE 2 LANE HIGHWAY, THEY DID TOO. I PUNCHED THE GAS AND IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, THE ENGINE TOOK A FEW SECONDS TO GET INTO GEAR SO I LITERALLY WAS IN THE ROAD OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC THAT WAS DRIVING AT SPEEDS IN EXCESS OF 55+ MPH. IT HAPPENED WITHIN 5 SECONDS BUT AFTER I CROSSED AVOIDING A FRONT AND SIDE COLLISION, I PULLED OFF THE ROAD BECAUSE I WAS SHAKING. OTHER INSTANCES WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THAT I PULL INTO THE LEFT HAND LANE TO PASS A CAR IN FRONT OF ME AND THE ENGINE IS SLOW TO RESPOND AS IT ACCELERATES FROM A LOW GEAR RESULTING IN A LAGGING SOUND/ READING OF THE TACH JUMPING AROUND AS I'M NEARLY HIT FROM BEHIND BECAUSE THE CARS HESITATION IN ACCELERATING. I'M ALSO HEARING THE ENGINE REV UP WITH NO TAKE OFF, SHIFTING IN DRIVE SPORT (DS) MODE IS NOT RESPONSIVE AND EVEN USING THE PADDLE SHIFTERS ISN'T ANY BETTER.
