No odometer data on record. Mileage is estimated at ~60,000 mi based on average annual driving. Items marked EST. OVERDUE may already be due — verify service history with the seller. Items marked OVERDUE are confirmed past-due based on vehicle age alone.
MONITORCriticalWater Pump
Service interval: 100,000 mi · Est. ~60,000 mi (no odometer on record)
Schedule Water Pump service before 100,000 mi
Water pump failure causes rapid overheating. If the engine overheats even once, head gasket damage is likely — turning a $400 part into a $3,000+ repair.
EST. OVERDUEHighTransmission Fluid / Service
Service interval: 5 yr · Vehicle age: 5 yr · Past due by age
Service Transmission Fluid / Service immediately — already past the 60,000 mi / 5 yr interval
Degraded transmission fluid destroys clutch packs and solenoids. CVT transmissions are especially sensitive — neglected fluid can result in a $4,000–$8,000 replacement.
EST. OVERDUEHighDifferential / Transfer Case Fluid
Service interval: 4 yr · Vehicle age: 5 yr · Past due by age
Service Differential / Transfer Case Fluid immediately — already past the 50,000 mi / 4 yr interval
On 4WD/AWD vehicles, neglected differential or transfer case fluid causes metal-on-metal wear. Replacement costs $1,500–$4,000.
EST. OVERDUEHighCoolant Flush
Service interval: 5 yr · Vehicle age: 5 yr · Past due by age
Service Coolant Flush immediately — already past the 100,000 mi / 5 yr interval
Degraded coolant loses corrosion inhibitors and attacks aluminum engine components. Can cause head gasket failure and water pump corrosion.

When driving home on the evening of 3/24, I was on the interstate (70mph) when my 2021 Nissan Rogue started to decelerate and would not gain speed. I got off at the next frontage road exit and when at the stop sign my check engine light came on and shortly after my car started sputtering when stopped and would barely gain speed. There was no prior warning lights or signs to indicate an issue. The car dealership was already closed so it was taken the morning of 3/25 where a diagnostic was performed. They said that they would need to replace the Engine Assembly - Long Block and that it wasn't covered since my vin wasn't affected. I called consumer affairs and I am outside of the extended warranty by 2000 miles so they will not assist. This has been a known issue wth Nissans enginea failing, and their extended warranty isn't long enough. My engine should not have juat failed with no warning.

ODI #11716460ELECTRICAL SYSTEMFIRE

I am reporting a serious safety incident involving my 2021 Nissan Rogue, which caught on fire unexpectedly on Feb. 6, 2026 approximately 4:30 am. The fire originated from the vehicle without warning and posed an immediate danger to life and property. The vehicle was parked at the time of incident. There were no actions taken that would reasonably explain a fire of this nature. This incident could have resulted in severe injury or death. I believe this may be related to a manufacturer defect involving fire risk, and I am submitting this report so NHTSA can investigate and take appropriate safety action to protect other drivers and passengers.

ODI #11713832SERVICE BRAKES

I purchased my vehicle in October 2025 for over $20,000, and It just started having issues on December 8, 2025. I have taken it to the dealership and made the head office aware of the issue I am having. The vehicle experiences delayed or absent braking response when brake pedal is applied. Dealership claims no issue found, but the vehicle fails to decelerate as expected, creating an imminent risk of collision. The vehicle has been at the Coggin Nissan dealership in Jacksonville since January 22,2026. I am not receiving any feedback or response on addressing the issue. I am now renting a car for which Nissan headquarters said will reimburse until yesterday but my issue is not resolved and my car is not safe to drive. Thank you for your help on this matter. I was on the freeway, going 65mph. Suddenly, i felt my car partially brake. Thank God I was close to an exit and got off safely. My car partially braked again while i was going 35mph down the street. As i cautiously drove home, the FCW kept blinking, even though there was ample distance between me and other cars, and at times, no car in front of me. It's winter time and there's snow on the ground. This could cause an accident!!!

ODI #11703532SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

I was driving on a four lane road, no car in front in my lane, only a car in the lane to the left and a car behind, when the forward collision warning came up and immediately activated the automatic emergency braking. There were no cars or objects in the road ahead that would have triggered the forward collision warning. Fortunately the car behind did not hit me despite the abrupt and unexpected stop. For context, I have had an ongoing issue with this car detecting shadows when in reverse (mostly in my driveway) and thinking they are objects or people, which triggers the automatic emergency braking. On the day of the incident described above the weather condition was sunny.

2021 Nissan Rogue Sport. While driving, the Forward Collision Warning/Automatic Emergency Braking system will sometimes activate without reason. The vehicle applies the brakes suddenly, even when there are no obstacles, vehicles, or hazards in front of me. I believe my cars computer is being hacked. Some things I’ve noticed are stereo issues the volume goes up and down or the music skips intermittently. Some times the music turns off. The collision symbol prompts on the dash. Acceleration issues. Antilock breaks don’t work, sometimes. Safety features are being turned off. My maps goes offline. My update for maps in Nebraska isn’t listed but all the other states are listed. Awd button doesn’t work, sometimes. I am worried for my safety. I took it to Nissan and they updated the sonar component system. It helped some. Stereo issues are still present. Music is still turning off by itself. Volume is still going up and down and the radio not a CD is skipping intermittently. Nissan stated they have no testing to see if any malware has been installed. I contacted Nissan consumer affairs. They are chosing to do nothing at this time.

ODI #11565494ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,UNKNOWN OR OTHER

UNKNOWN I fell victim to a wiretapping incident that is still under Federal investigation that began in my vehicle on June 23rd, 2023. This concern is in regard to life safety and loss of control of the vehicle on or around the same time, due to radio transmission feedback beeping coming from the passenger side speaker, as well as what sounded like an emergency response unit radio. The noise would not stop until I pulled the plug on the battery of the car as well as the fuse panel to the head unit. While driving the vehicle in Converse TX around August 1st, 2023, I noticed the speedometer locking at a higher than average speed for the area I was in, like it would go into cruise control automatically, without my consent. I then hit the brake to slow it down, but the speedometer locked again and would read what I believed to be 5mph over the speed limit, but I could hear the engine revving and feel myself speeding up. I parked the car and pulled the majority of the fuse panel after this event, barely used it, reset the firmware version on the head unit and do not have this issue today. I reported this to Nissan twice in person, once on the phone and twice in writing. Nissan refuses to look into it until I pay for them to plug up their equipment to determine what happened and that there is nothing wrong since there is not yet a recall leading to my event.

ODI #11561475UNKNOWN OR OTHER

The actuators on the doors are failing, so the door locks are unreliable. I paid to have the front passenger door's actuator replaced at a cost to me of almost $700. Now I am having the same issue with the driver's side actuator, which means another $700 repair. I worry that the same thing will happen to the two back doors. To me, this is a quality issue. The car is barely 3 years old (i purchased it in August 2020). If I don't spend the money to get this fixed, I run the risk of getting carjacked or the car broken into. I have tried and failed to get any kind of resolution from Nissan consumer affairs - they keep using stall tactics rather than being straightforward. I am also unhappy with the resolution of the jackknife key recall. They did the bare minimum to resolve this issue and now I have a key that is forced to stay in the open position at all times. The key is now over 4" long. It's also sharp and I've lost count of how many times I've stabbed my leg and put holes in my pants pockets.

ODI #11554268UNKNOWN OR OTHER

I went through a recent DDoS attack by a neighbor where they used signal boosting to spoof my key fob. From there, they were able to access the Intelligent Drive System, GPS and audio. On June 25th, the same criminals tracked me down through the GPS outside of Marshall TX and attmpted to hijack the vehicle. I had to call 911 and run for safety, it was terrifying. The entire day I could hear interference over the radio, this remained an issue for weeks. I took it to a Nissan Dealer to show them the mass amount of Malware that was installed, but was told I could just buy another car instead. To make matters worse, at one point in time, this group that hacked the vehicle, was able to alter my speed remotely. It is impossible to have anyone at Nissan take me seriously on this matter, yet you can see online that this is a known concern for this model specifically. I believe it is pertinent that Nissan review boot loader settings on these vehicles for a known fatal flaw that leaves the user vulnerable to these types of attacks, this could have caused me to crash several times and is downright scary that anyone with a little background could penetrate these systems so easily.

Unknown, this is what I remember, As I was traveling on this highway I pushed the lane correcting button on because it was raining and I don't like being out in the rain. I had put on my Cruse control and after about halfway to the exit I turned the Cruse control off so that the vehicle could slow down and I could cost to the exit however out of nowhere my steering wheel starts pulling to the left so I tried to turn it back to align with the back of my truck and the steering wheel was stuck it would not move so, I braced myself for impact. I am still scared. No one will help me and the vehicle is available for request if need be. I really could have been killed and someone else too if they had been near me at the time of the accident. The guard rails saved me from going into the opposite side of traffic on the highway. Because of what I was doing no one will help me. So I don't know what to do now. There were no warning signs before the accident however I did have an oil change and my tires rotated 3 weeks before my accident. Everything happened on the day of my accident. No 1 will look at it. My insurance will not cover me so they will not help and the people I was driving for are basically not responsible and now I am out of my vehicle and I need it inspected but no 1 will help me.

The steering wheel and brake peddle locked (unable to steer or pump brakes) causing me to lose control of the car. I ended up sideswiping a tree and rear-ending a parked pickup truck, totaling my car. This malfunction was an ongoing issue that I initially reported to the dealership which the car came from and also after occurring 2 additional times (with video evidence). The dealership stated that because they were unable to duplicate the malfunction, they could not fix the problem and due to my state's Lemon Law, Nissan Corporate could not get involved until the same malfunction occurred for a 4th time. This exact malfunction (unable to steer or pump brakes) had only occurred while the car was in reverse but unfortunately for me, the 4th occurrence happened while the car was in drive. My son and I are VERY fortunate to have walked away from this very avoidable accident with minor injuries, although the trauma will be there for a while.

It almost does one or more of these when out driving. I mentioned it to the dealership and they say it has a break in point and I needed to drive it for at least 1500 miles. It just went over 1000 miles.

When driving I got close to the rumble strip and when getting back into the lane the side airbags deployed not the one on the wheel or in front of passenger seat. The car didn't hit anything either

ODI #11446710STRUCTURE

I have a 2021 Nissan Rogue in the collision shop (highly reputable corporation) for rear door scratch repair. When customer dropped off stated that her front door would not open from inside or outside. It only had 702 miles on it and still with the drive out tag. Once the door was able to get open after having to remove trim panels and such, noticed that the front drivers door release cable was too long and kept popping out of the handle base on door. Pulled the entire lock assembly and base out and works just fine, because there’s no pressure on the cable. Once installed back into vehicle, after 3 or 5 handle pulls, the handle would not unlock anymore once again. Noticed again that the release cable popped out once again out of the base. After repeating the whole process 3 times with the same result, I am now writing this concern. It would be devastating if a actual accident did occur and the cable popped off again and customer couldn’t escape out of her vehicle

ODI #11444507SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCECRASH

Sensors that stop the car reversing if someone is behind them malfunction and you cannot reverse. Sensors that are meant to slow car for fwd collision do not work at all, or stay on with no obstruction causing you not to be able to drive. Dealer stated issue when temp is below 35 degrees and reset, issue not fixed. Nissan rep states no issues with car take to dealer. Multiple other people with issue on a group page. I hit a deer at 15mph the sensor never detected anything or stopped car. Nissan rep stated it was to stop.car for pedestrian not a deer.

Chart Analysis

The blue line shows 35 total NHTSA complaints filed over 6 years, with the worst year being 2023 (9 complaints, including 4 crash reports).

The amber reliability line averaged 51/100 across the vehicle's life — dropping as low as 10 in 2023 when complaint severity peaked.

The recall (red dashed line) were issued in the same year or before complaints peaked, suggesting the manufacturer identified and acted on the defect relatively quickly.

Red dots on the amber line flag 4 years (2021, 2022, 2023, 2024) where complaints included crash events — these are the highest-severity incidents in the dataset.

Nissan CVT Extended Warranty (Jatco JF016 / JF017)
Transmission – CVT (Jatco JF016E / JF017E)
COVERAGE:Extended to 5 years / 60,000 miles; some class action settlements provide additional coverage

Nissan's Jatco continuously variable transmissions (CVT) suffer from overheating, shuddering, sudden deceleration, and premature failure. Nissan extended the CVT warranty following class action lawsuits. In some cases the warranty was extended further to 84,000 miles for documented repeat-failure vehicles. A class action settlement (Ponzio v. Nissan) provided additional reimbursement rights.

HOW TO CLAIM: Contact Nissan Consumer Affairs (1-800-647-7261) and provide your VIN to check for any CVT extended warranty applicable to your specific model year and variant. Ask the dealer to check for any open special coverage authorizations in their warranty system.

Coverage eligibility depends on your VIN, original sale date, and current mileage. Always verify with an authorized dealer or manufacturer customer service — programs may have been updated since this database was compiled.
