While driving in slow, heavy highway traffic, the vehicle suffered a structural failure of the rear crossmember / rear subframe due to severe rust. This is a safety-critical structural component and part of the rear suspension mounting system. When braking, the vehicle swerved hard to the right and crossed into the shoulder. Fortunately, the vehicle was already in the right lane, which likely prevented a more serious incident. The failure created a serious risk of loss of control and crash. After the incident, I took it straight to a mechanic on the way and the condition was identified as a broken rear crossmember caused by advanced corrosion. The failed component is available for inspection.

I had just gotten a safety inspection 15 days prior to this event to renew my registration. The car had been driving perfectly. Me and my wife had drove to my daughter’s school to pick her up. The school is about 10 minutes away from our home. Once we left the school we got about 3 minutes down the road and started smelling a strong electrical/plastic burning smell. Suddenly the car stalled and shut off. Then it cranked back up. Then it shut off. It did that several times. Smoke started pouring out from under the hood. I was barely able to get the car off the road and into a parking lot before it completely died and stopped cranking and stalling. I immediately got my family out of the car and had them run to safety. There was several other family’s with their children who had also just been picked up all around us. So I ran to car and popped the hood. There was so much electrical smoke coming out from driver side area. It appeared to be coming from the hybrid high voltage system under the ECM. I quickly disconnected the negative terminal on the 12v battery to shut down the electrical systems on the car. I have called Infiniti and I am dropping car off tomorrow to have a full inspection done to find out what happened. I am reaching out to you because I know that there is documented reports of this exact thing happening to other cars and that there was a recall R21B4 that they did a software update for. I believe that that update did not work to prevent this catastrophic event from happening. I don’t know if they will try to act like this was not related to the recall so I am trying to cover all my bases here by filing this complaint with y’all as well. I also have an open claim with Infiniti corporate. They are trying to just say that I no longer have a warranty for my car but this is a safety concern not just a warranty issue. I will be taking my car to Infiniti Clear Lake in Houston Texas tomorrow for them to look at it.

LaFontaine Import Novi, Inc. DBA LaFontaine Novi, a franchised Infiniti entity with actual knowledge of these recalls (16V-244; 15V-033; 13V-445), failed to disclose or remediate these "Risk of Crash" and "Risk of Injury" defects before selling me a 2014 Infiniti QX60 on Nov 5, 2025. The dealer provided a "Pre-delivery inspection" record on November 4, 2025 to CARFAX, but delivered the vehicle with these open recalls and multiple "Red Alert" mechanical leaks in the engine, transmission, and fuel systems. Only 588 miles after delivery, on Dec 26, 2025, the vehicle suffered a catastrophic cooling system failure (the radiator and transmission cooler) which demonstrated that the vehicle was not safe or roadworthy. The Service Manager admitted on January 6, 2026, that the radiator was defective and needed full replacement, which confirms the vehicle was sold with a pre-existing systemic failure

The contact owns a 2014 Infiniti QX60. The contact stated that while driving 25-30 MPH, the vehicle shuddered and failed to accelerate as intended upon depressing the accelerator pedal. Additionally, the contact stated that upon shifting into reverse(R) and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to reverse and drove forward instead. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The manufacturer informed the contact that the VIN was included in Infiniti Campaign Number: PC501. The manufacturer scheduled an appointment with the dealer on the contact's behalf. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, and the dealer informed the contact that the TCM software was updated; however, the failure persisted. The Service Advisor at the dealer informed the contact that the transmission needed to be replaced. The regional manager was contacted and informed the contact that the dealer had stated that the service campaign had not been performed, and the vehicle had not been diagnosed. The contact was informed that no assistance would be provided. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 122,000.

This vehicle started shaking and juttering at a lower speed and made it very difficult to drive. Then I could accelerate and it would not go faster. I took it to a repair shop and they were getting CVT codes for the transmission. I looked online a found that many other people had these same issues as well as a Class Action Lawsuit that was settled a few years ago for 278 million for these problems. I was never informed that this CVT was a problem and could have it replaced from Nissan for no charge. I am not sure why Nissan would allow an unsafe transmission to be installed into a vehicle that would make the car unsafe to drive.

The whole vehicle experiences strong vibrations when accelerating to 30 miles per hour and higher. It also gives strong judder or kicks when turning. Hard to control the vehicle at high speeds. No warning light is on. Took the vehicle to a local dealer (Houston Southwest Infiniti) and found that the problem was caused by a defective rear differential coupler.

On Jan 11, 2023 my infiniti qx60 hybrid AWD that I purchased with Premium and Technology packages that includes forward Collison warning (FCW) and intelligent braking system (IBS) failed to work. I got no warning and/or my emergency brake was applied by these systems that I paid high dollars for. I had to apply the hard braking myself to try stop my car from collision but it was too late and ended up rear ending someone in multi car chain accident. I am extremely concern that the Infiniti QX60 FCW and IBS are just sales gimmick and does not work all or not at the right time when you need them. The weather was cloudy but no rain or anything that could have blocked the car sonar and radar. However none of these systems worked. Prior to the accident I have noticed that occasionally I get IBA switched off obstruction warning with nothing in front of the car. The same issues have been noticed on the infiniti's sister brand Nissan's Pathfinder, Rogue and others. Thankfully no one got hurt in my wreck. But I lost my car. I bought all these expensive systems to protect me and my family for these situations. However infiniti systems failed to work on mine. Not sure what options I have to pursue as there are others who have the same issues that I noticed. Hope no one lose their lives before Infiniti and/or nissan can fix this problem. I would also like to know what my options are against a car manufacturer that sold systems that does not work, while the average public buy these expensive systems hoping to be protected from the unforscene accidents that can happen to no fault of their own. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? If it completely fails, the car can become inoperable while driving at any time. I was also told by the dealer that the differential could damage the transmission over time. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, the dealer had diagnosed this issue. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No warning or messages. There is grinding when turning at low speeds and when driving sometimes there is a "bump" at around 40 mph. This was first diagnosed by the dealer in 2020 and again in 2022. There was a recall of the rear electronic coupler for the same year, make and model but, Infiniti says that it did not apply to my VIN. The TSB is 12-072C. My research of this issue shows that this issue common for my make, model and year. Clearly, this issue affects many more VINs than, originally recalled. The recall for this issue should be expanded to include my vehicle and extended so that this very expensive repair can be made without cost to me. I purchased this car because, I wanted a safe and reliable car to transport my small children. These critical issues jeopardize the health and safety of my family every day. My car is no longer safe or reliable. Additional, in 2020, at the time that the electronic coupler failure was diagnosed, something related to the CVT was replaced because of a recall. This year, I had to have the the transmission replaced. I now wonder if that could have been related to the CVT issue. My catalytic converters also had to be replaced this year.

CVT have been told by one Infiniti Dealership the the fluids never need to be flushed, changed or filled. Then I hear about the Transfer Differential which I am assuming is the Transfer Case is leaking and that it would need to be replaced entirely along with the rear coupling costing nearly $10K in repair (Estimated $8,500 alone on these two items). I have found online people and even other Infiniti dealerships where these fluids are flushed and refilled regularly of which in discussing with the dealership these findings, they advised they never have to be flushed, but it is recommended through forums and other dealerships of such. In finding more about the history of my car, I have found that it has NEVER had a flush of the Transfer Differential or CVT or other factors of changing fluids. I advised I recently had a burning smell along with grinding. They only say I need to completely change that out. If I have a leak, then that should have been the first directive in fixing the seal (since this is a sealed compartment). I have 3 times where the power wasn't going to the transmission where I almost got into accidents. Thankfully, the other driver's were able to merge or brake as these were primarily city streets. I found a video where a gentleman had the same issue, the CVT was replaced, and the issue only got worse. How is this allowed or possible?

This repeats over and over and over if I continue to get to the grocery store for essential needs but it is not safe to drive and will for sure cause a collision if it keeps happening. I DROVE HOME PUZZLED BECAUSE WHEN I DROVE TO THE DEALER THAT MORNING THE ONE OF THE LIGHTS OF OFF. SO I TESTED THE LIGHTS AS SOON AS I GOT HOME AND THE LIGHT DIDN'T GO ON. I IMMEDIATELY CALL THE REP THAT HELP ME AT THE DEALER AND LEFT A MESSAGE. SINCE IT WAS CLOSE TO 5:30 PM I FIGURED THE REP WOULD BE CALLING ME NEXT DAY IN THE AM. NO ONE DID AND I FORGOT ABOUT THE PROBLEM DO TO WORK. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED ON AN INTERMITTENT BASIS UNTIL THE LIGHT STOPPED WORKING. BY NOW THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTEE BUT THE PROBLEM WAS NOT AFFECTING MY DRIVING OR IT WAS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. HOWEVER, JUST LAST WEEK, ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DRIVER SIDE ARE NOT WORKING EXCEPT FOR THE FOG LIGHT. WHEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY MECHANIC, THE TEST REVEALED THAT THE PARTS TO FIX THE PROBLEM AS PER HIS DEALER CONTACT COST $1600. IT IS THE BALESTER. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER REP THEY HAVE HAD LOTS OF PROBLEMS WITH THOSE; HOWEVER, IF THAT IS THE CASE I NEVER RECEIVE ANY COMMUNICATION FROM INFINITI EVEN AFTER ME BRINGING MY VEHICLE FOR REPAIRS. THE COST OF REPAIR WITH LABOR NOW IS GOING TO BE OVER $2000 WHEN IT COULD HAVE BEEN FIXED WHILE ON WARRANTY.

IN THE FIRST INSTANCE, THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WHEEL STARTED MAKING SOME GRINDING NOISES WHILE DRIVING, AS IF THE BREAK PADS WERE LOW. THE NOISE STARTED OFF A BEING VERY LIGHT WHEN BREAKING, THEN CONTINUOUS GRINDING. IT WAS NOT UNTIL FURTHER INSPECTION THAT WE REALIZED THAT THE ENTIRE CALIPER FALLEN FORWARD AND WAS RUBBING ONTO THE INTERIOR OF THE WHEEL RIM. WE MADE THE REPAIR AND REPLACED THE BOLT AND ASSUMED IT WAS A FLUKE AND JUST ONE OF THOSE RANDOM THINGS. TWO WEEKS LATER, WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WITH MY FAMILY IN SAN DIEGO, WE STARTED TO HEAR THE SAME NOISE AGAIN. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION WE DISCOVERED THAT THE OTHER FRONT CALIPER HAD ALSO BECOME DISENGAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE NEAREST INIFINTI DEALER FOR INSPECTION. IT WAS A SATURDAY EVENING AND WAS NOT TILL TUESDAY MORNING WHEN THEIR SERVICE DEPT REPLACED THE MISSING BOLT AND RETURNED THE VEHICLE. AFTER THE SECOND INCIDENT, I RESEARCHED THE ISSUE ONLINE TO DISCOVER THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ISSUED ON THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM WE EXPERIENCED, WITH THE CALIPER BOLTS NOT BEING TORQUED ON DURING THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS. HOWEVER AFTER DISCUSSING WITH THE DEALER AND INFINITI, I WAS TOLD THE RECALL DID NOT INCLUDE THE MANUFACTURING DATE OF MY VEHICLE. ON MARCH 18,2014 I MADE A VISIT TO DEALERSHIP AND MET WITH THE SERVICE CONSULTANT AND THE SERVICE MANAGER. I EXPLAINED WHAT I EXPERIENCED AND ASKED IF THEY COULD LOOK INTO IT FOR ME. WHEN I PICKED UP THE VEHICLE I WAS TOLD THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE MY CONCERN. I THEN CONTACTED INFINITI CONSUMER AFFAIRS VIA EMAIL AND EXPLAINED MY CONCERN. I RECEIVED A PHONE CALL FROM THE CONSUMER AFFAIRS PERSON, AND WAS TOLD TO CALL THE DEALERSHIPS SERVICE MANAGER TO SCHEDULE A TEST DRIVE OF THE SAME MODEL. I FOUND IT TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AS MY WIFE'S CAR. I CALL THE CONSUMER AFFAIRS PERSON AT INFINITI AND TOLD HIM WHAT I FOUND. HE EXPLAINED THAT WAS HOW THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS DESIGNED AND IS NORMAL. ON NOVEMBER 19,2014, I REQUEST TO BE NOTIFIED WHEN THE INFINITI REPRESENTATIVE WOULD BE AT THE DEALERSHIP. THE INFINITI REPRESENTATIVE HAPPEN TO BE IN THE SERVICES MANAGERS OFFICE SO I EXPLAINED MY PROBLEM TO THEM. THE SERVICE MANAGER SUGGESTED WE GO FOR A TEST DRIVE, AND HE DROVE. HE SET THE INTELLIGENT CRUISE CONTROL AT 40 MPH, WHEN WE STARTED DOWNHILL THE VEHICLE PICKING UP SPEED. WHEN WE REACHED THE BOTTOM WE CONTINUED TO PICK UP SPEED, ALMOST 30 MPH. THE SERVICE MANAGER CONTACTED THE INFINITI TECHNICAL SUPPORT GROUP AND EXPLAIN WHAT HE EXPERIENCED, AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS NORMAL. IT WOULD COME ON FOR SEVERAL MINUTES THEN GO OFF. THIS OCCURRED RANDOMLY AND WOULD OCCUR DAYS APART. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY ADJUSTED THE SENSITIVITY. THE ISSUE STARTED BACK A MONTH LATER AND WE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK ON 2/26/14 AND THEY PERFORMED A ZERO POINT RESET. THE ISSUE CAME BACK AND WE RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT WORKED AND MY WIFE WAS TOO LIGHT(WEIGHS 135 POUNDS) OR SITTING INCORRECTLY. THEY RECALIBRATED THE SENSOR. THE ISSUE CAME BACK AS THE AIRBAG OFF LIGHT WOULD STAY ON WHILE MY WIFE WAS SITTING IN THE SEAT. THIS WOULD HAPPEN RANDOMLY AND SOMETIMES COME ON DURING A TRIP AND STAY ON FOR AN HOUR THEN TURN OFF. WE RETURNED THE VEHICLE ON 6/25/14 DURING OUR SERVICE TO ADDRESS ISSUE AGAIN. RETURNED THE VEHICLE AGAIN ON 10/15/14 AND THE DEALER "RESET" THE PROGRAM AND SAID EVERYTHING WAS FINE. THREE DAYS LATER THE AIRBAG OFF CAME BACK ON WITH MY DAUGHTER IN THE SEAT(100 POUNDS) AND THEN A DAY LATER WITH MY WIFE. I CONTACTED INFINITI CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND THEY INFORMED ME THIS CAR WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL AND HAD ME RETURN TO THE DEALER TO DO THE SAME "FIX" THEY HAVE DONE EVERY OTHER TIME.
