My wife was driving down the freeway with the panoramic sunroof closed. The sunroof glass without warning made a loud popping noise and there was safety glass all over the interior of the car. She was not operating the sunroof at the time. The fabric sunshade was open at the time. Dealership refuses to cover the damage 2200 under warranty.

The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, an abnormal sound was heard coming from under the hood and would shudder towards the front-passenger side. In addition, the contact stated that the failure caused her to crash into a rail guard, and the rear driver-side tire had deflated, and the rim was damaged. No injuries were sustained, and no medical attention was sought. No police report was filed. In addition, an independent mechanic arrived on scene to replace the tire. The local dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired due to the warranty having expired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

After driving IN RAIN for about 27 Miles then idling in slow traffic, vehicle started running poorly, stalled and would not run properly. Got "Reduced Engine Power, Visit Your Dealer Message". Engine would start but stall when put in drive. I held up traffic for several minutes. After several minutes of restarting and stalling, I ran engine in park for 2000-3000 rpm for about a minute. The car then ran fine and I drove for over a week before I could get it to the dealer. It seemed to be run fine during this time. Dealer found code P010014, MAF sensor and replaced the sensor. Toyota TSB T-TT-0763-24 appears to describe this issue but it does not appear to have a real resolution for this. It is 'under investigation' Just replacing the sensor, if it is just another one of the same type does not give me confidence that this dangerous condition may not happen again. There are many reports like this one.

I turn off the car and let it sit for one hour. Come back start it up and it does, only to repeat the shudder and then throw the same code. I had it towed to Toyota of Auburn, WA. Everything working properly and just fine until Monday 3/2/26 when I started the vehicle to go to work, the main radio multimedia screen was black and did not display anything. No sound was playing either along with when I placed the car in reverse, there was not the backup camera display as well. Everything was pitch black. I then proceeded to drive the car to work and then decided to take it to the Toyota dealership near my house at the earliest convenience which was today (3/4/26). In the mean time until I brought the car to the dealership, I researched information and videos on how to diagnose it myself and try troubleshooting my self. Also, when car is running, I got a message stating malfunction with AEB/FCW. Tried the fuse route and tried disconnecting the negative battery terminal for 15 minutes and tried holding the main power knob for 30 plus seconds. All of those did not work. I then took into dealership and once I got there, the service technician saw the screen working and then also saw the screen acting up and turned on but had lines in the middle of the screen. The technician had me turn vehicle off and once we turned back on it went back to the black screen. So once I went the route of having them diagnose it, they said they could not duplicate concern that we saw with the lines in the screen etc., therefore the technician gave the vehicle back with the screen not working still until we do have it working with the lines. I was about to leave and then the issue with the screen and lines cam up on the screen and I was able to have the technician look at it and diagnose. That is when advisor came to me and said the radio head is completely not working and cannot be fixed or saved. Repair is $2,769 with labor for a new radio head per the advisor. Car is not under warranty because of how many miles are currently on vehicle so I cannot get this fixed for free under warranty. Would have to be out of pocket and I denied that. Please help me get this fixed.

The Apple CarPlay/navigation system in our 2024 Toyota RAV4 consistently drifts and displays incorrect vehicle location while driving. Navigation apps (Apple Maps, Google Maps, Waze) provide inaccurate positioning and incorrect directions. This creates a distraction and unsafe driving condition, particularly for a teenage driver. Additionally, when connected to the vehicle, the iPhone’s GPS location also drifts, preventing accurate real-time location tracking by a parent. Even once disconnected the drifting on the phone navigation continues. The vehicle has been taken to a Toyota dealership multiple times. All software updates have been completed, but the problem persists and appears to have worsened. Toyota has no solve and refuse to put in a new navigation/CarPlay system. This defect has existed since the vehicle was purchased new in 2024.

On 12/24/25 I was pulling into a parking space, took foot off accelerator to brake and vehicle suddenly accelerated and engine revved. I kept pushing the brake, but the vehicle kept lurching forward and slammed into car parked in front of me before finally stopping. My vehicle was going so hard forward that it pushed the car I hit 2 to 3 feet out of it's parking space and even punctured the radiator. It was not raining, the floor mat was not in the way, I did not have cruise control engaged. On 12/10/25 I took my car to Toyota dealership because I had a slow leak in one tire, which had to be replaced. At that time, the service department also updated parking assist software (could that be the problem?). In answer to above questions: * brakes and accelerator malfunctioned and it is available for inspection upon request. * no one was in the car I hit. I was not injured. * the problem has not been reproduced to my knowledge or confirmed. * the vehicle has been inspected by a third-party that Toyota engaged and also Erie Insurance. A police report is available. * there was no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure on 12/24/25.

The vehicle's dashboard and 9.5" screen go blank while driving down the road. It is random at times and you have no idea how fast you are traveling, viewing screen, etc.. It just goes completely black. The Certified Toyota dealer says that there is a recall on the 12.5" screens blacking out randomly but not on the 9.5" screens so the vehicle does not qualify for the recall and Toyota is saying they don't have a fix for the vehicle. Have tried to contact higher level Toyota contacts (claims) and they have not been of any help. With the screen going completely black, an individual has no idea how fast they are driving, what service indicator lights might be on, no idea how much gas there is in the car. The entire dash and associated screen which also houses the back up camera are completely useless. It happens at random points in time while driving. This is a safety issue as one does not know speed of vehicle or any warning lights. Dash and screen are completely blank.

The contact stated that while his daughter was driving at approximately 35 MPH, she had crossed an intersection when she was crashed into by another vehicle making a U-turn from a cross street. The other vehicle's front end crashed into the driver's side tire and front door. The contact stated that the force of the crash had fractured the left front axle and pushed the tire into the engine compartment. The contact stated that the frame was bent and the driver's door was difficult to open. The contact stated that the side air bags had not deployed and that the seat belts on the driver's side and the passenger side could not be unbuckled. The contact stated that his daughter had sustained injuries to her left shoulder, left arm, and leg as well as head and neck injuries. The contact stated that his wife had sustained injuries to her right ribs, right arm and shoulder, and lower back injuries. The contact stated that his wife and daughter were taken by ambulance to the hospital. The contact stated that the police were on scene and wrote a report, but he did not have the report number. The contact stated that both vehicles were towed away from the scene of the crash. The contact stated that their vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.

I have had multiple instances where the vehicle has failed to accelerate when making a left hand turn. Each time this has occurred, my car has rolled into the intersection from a stop at a small decline, but the gas seems to do nothing. My car silently rolls forward and then I have no power or gas and am trapped with no acceleration. I’m worried this is going to get me into an accident and seriously injured. It does not happen super often, but enough that I know there is a problem. Dealer has not been able to see any codes, and we have not been able to recreate the issue in front of the service advisors.

I am submitting this complaint to document an unresolved vehicle safety concern and loss of confidence in safe operation. My vehicle experienced serious safety-related malfunctions and warnings, and despite service visits, I was not provided written confirmation that the vehicle was safe to operate. After repairs were reportedly completed, I repeatedly requested written safety verification, which was not provided. Due to the unresolved safety concerns and lack of written safety assurance, I did not feel it was safe to resume driving the vehicle. A loaner vehicle was provided while the safety issues were being addressed. The loaner was later recovered before my safety concerns were resolved and without advance notice, leaving me without a vehicle that I could confirm was safe to operate. I am reporting this because I continue to lack confidence in the safety of the vehicle and want this documented as a safety concern. This complaint is not about customer service, but about unresolved safety issues and the absence of written confirmation that the vehicle is safe to drive.

2024 Toyota RAV4 XLE AWD, VIN [XXX]. Steering defect appeared at approximately 12,000 miles (April 2025). Vehicle pulls significantly to the right, requiring constant steering correction. Driver must continuously hold left side of steering wheel to maintain straight path. If steering wheel released, vehicle immediately drifts right. Pull is constant and especially noticeable at highway speeds. THREE REPAIR ATTEMPTS FAILED: June 2025 (14,715 miles): Two wheel alignments performed same day - both failed to correct pull. November 2025 (16,091 miles): Replaced blown passenger rear shock absorber - pull persisted. December 2025 (16,819 miles): Performed 10+ wheel alignments. Toyota Corporate Technical Assistance filed case #53530239 and instructed ABS/SAS reset - failed. Technicians documented "rear suspension binding" but did not mechanically repair. SUSPECTED CAUSE: Strut mount bearing binding/failure or suspension binding. Dealership replaced shock but not strut mounts (industry best practice is replacing both together when shock fails at low mileage). Documented binding issue was not mechanically repaired - only software reset attempted. CURRENT STATUS: Vehicle unsafe to drive. 16,819 miles in two years. New rattling noise developed in right front dashboard after December repairs. This is a manufacturing defect appearing in first year at low mileage, not wear and tear. SAFETY CONCERN: Driver must maintain constant corrective pressure on steering wheel to prevent rightward drift. Risk of vehicle drifting into adjacent lane or off road if driver momentarily distracted. Defect creates dangerous driving condition, particularly at highway speeds. During a head-on collision with a tree, the vehicle sustained major front-end damage and the airbag deployed, resulting in a cracked sternum, three fractured ribs, and a three-day hospitalization. No warning lights or prior symptoms were present, and the incident has not been reproduced or confirmed by a service center. The vehicle is currently held at the insurance-approved collision facility and remains available for inspection. Law enforcement and insurance representatives have reviewed the vehicle, but no manufacturer evaluation has occurred. Given the severity of the injuries and absence of prior indicators, I believe further investigation is necessary to determine whether a safety-related malfunction occurred and to help prevent potential risk of death to other drivers.

I pulled in into the garage and after sitting off for about 10 minutes, it started fine. I've seen multiple posts about this same issue. It's definitely a safety concern.

Then it started to idle strange/ shaking and I see the rpms are jumping between 1k-2k I try to give it gas and nothing happens. I end up turning the car off and back on and the car starts but sputters/shakes and turns right off this happens multiple times. I leave it alone and start it 30 mins later it starts but is shaking very badly. I turn it off and call for a tow to the dealership. I go back and start it an hr later it starts fine and runs fine. I get it towed to the dealership and they keep it for 1 1/2 days they find nothing wrong saying everything is running the way it is designed to run. I go and pick it up and they state they completely inspected and drove multiple times there is nothing going wrong. I take the car and drive it for 3 mins around the block then park the car engine shuts off on its own but everything is still on message states engine stopped power steering low. Took it back the dealership has no idea what’s going wrong. This is a concern because it can happen while driving and the car will stop on its own and cause an accident. This needs to be addressed due to the dealership not knowing what is going on and it being a safety concern.

Driving on a city portion of Highway 69 between Prescott and Prescott Valley, traveling about 45mph, the panoramic moonroof suddenly exploded. There was no one near us and the road is newly paved so no obstacles. Glass shards rained down on us. This happened on a normal day about 75 degrees. Totally unexpected. I did sustain a cut on a finger. This could have harmed one of us with flying glass. We have contacted our insurance company and directed us to a collision compare place. In checking online, I see that others have experienced the same problem and there are lawsuits about this issue.

Recently, I have been noticing that my defroster has not been working properly. Only defrosting a portion of the windshield in the front. I have also noticed that my GPS screen will sometimes go completely black while driving. On the highway, I have had sunlight flashing in my eyes which poses a safety concern, due to this hood flexing. I bought this car, gold certified, a few days ago and it has persisted since. This seems to be a common problem for which there is a TSB for a Lexus vehicle already.

Had to have my 2024 Toyota RAV 4 towed for a second time in 2 month after driving in heavy rain. During the first instance, I drove less than 10 miles on the highway in very heavy rain. Arrived at my destination, put the car in park and the engine and RPM meter started pulsating, revving feeling as if the car were going to stall. Turned the engine off, had the vehicle towed to the dealership who found "no issues" with the car. Again on September 23, 2025, I drove through a heavy rain storm, arrived a my destination and again the engine/RPM were pulsating/revving. An hour later when I went to leave (in no rain), started the vehicle and the engine began to sputter, all warning lights on the dash board went on including in part "Parking Support Brake Malfunction Visit Your Dealer", "Pre-Collision System Malfunction Visit Your Dealer" and "Engine Stopped Steering Power Low", and the engine sputtered and shut off. Had the vehicle towed to another dealership where it has been for 5 days with the technician telling me he cannot replicate the issue. This is a serious problem for a new vehicle with 17k miles. Not only is this is a safety risk due to vehicle failure/shut down, it is a serious defect in a product that I paid $40,000 for. Please do all that can be done to force Toyota to fix this issue, as it appears based on review of similar complaints on this website that this is happening quite a lot. Separately, it is more than concerning that total engine failure does not generate codes sufficient for Toyota technicians to diagnose such a fatal problem.

However, the inspection at the AutoNation Buena Park dealership concluded the windshield blurriness to be caused by external factors and not a factory defect. This makes no sense as we cannot touch or influence what's inside the windshield.

The car entered my lane from his entrance ramp to the right most lane in front of me. The car was about 20 feet in front of me. The entering car's speed was was greater than mine. When the second the car left the entrance ramp and pulled into my lane about 20-30 feet in front of me, my brakes slammed on, causing me and my passenger to lurch forward. My seat belts protected me and my passenger from harm, but it scared the **** out of us. This kind of nonsense of so-called "safety features" has to stop. Its bad enough that I have to put up with a car that stalls out when the car stops, even for a second, but what happened above is unacceptable as a "safety feature." I could have easily reacted by jerking the steering wheel to the right and gone off the road at full speed, fast enough to roll the car causing considerable harm to life.

Although I braked, I was not able to stop the vehicle before damage was done to the front end. I have reported this incident to Toyota and they sent someone to download the analytics from the black box. I have a copy of that report. I believe Toyota is responsible for the repair of this vehicle which had less than 5.000 miles on it at the time of the incident. My vehicle had been serviced at a Toyota dealership on 7/23 for it's 5,000 mile service. I am now scared of my own vehicle and fear this will happen again.

When idling with intermittent wipers on, the vehicle began smoking under the hood, engine light came on dash as well as “steering power low” warning, then engine shut off. The vehicle was unable to be started again after waiting a few minutes. The gear shift could not move from parked. The vehicle was purchased new and had only 20,000 miles on it. I ended up having it towed to a Toyota dealership but by that time the battery was drained from leaving the hazards on too long. They could not identify any other problems and sent me on my way with a working vehicle. After talking to a manager at another Toyota dealership, they identified that this is an occasional problem with this vehicle. The manager was able to contact Toyota who suggested they replace the air intake tube and bezel. Hopefully after these new parts are replaced I will not experience a random shutdown again. It’s such a specific set of conditions to cause the problem but a quick search online showed that other people have encountered similar situations with the wipers on intermittent while idling. Someone mentioned pressing the switch to turn off the automatic engine shut off as a temporary fix. I was blocking traffic and police had to direct traffic around me while I waited for the tow. Thankfully the traffic was not moving fast.

Tire size 225/65R17 On [XXX] the front tire on the passenger side blew out on [XXX] just west of the exit to [XXX] as I was driving from Warren MI to Horseheads NY. I was able to safely steer off the highway to the shoulder. A man stopped to help, he put the donut on the car and put the blown out tire in the cargo space. I have the tire in my garage. I drove off the highway a few miles to the exit for Hornell NY and called Williams Toyota in Elmira NY, they had a replacement tire in stock but couldn’t fit me into their service schedule until July 15, 2025. I had to extend my stay in Horseheads by 2 nights so in addition to the cost of mounting and balancing the new tire I had to pay for 2 extra nights at the hotel where I was staying. I bought my RAV4 from Golling Toyota in Warren MI in February of 2024, it had 9843 miles on it, the tire was original equipment, and I have had the tires rotated as required by the maintenance schedule. I purchased a brand-new 2024 Toyota RAV4 on November 18, 2023. Since early ownership, the Apple CarPlay/Bluetooth system has been defective. The system repeatedly disconnects, powercycles, and will not reconnect unless I pull over and restart the car, creating a serious safety hazard when I rely on navigation and hands-free features. I have taken my car to the dealership six times under warranty, leaving it for full days, providing photos, videos, and documentation (dates, times, temperatures) as requested. Toyota’s technical representative confirmed in 2023 that this is a known wiring issue affecting the radio WiFi/bluetooth system and said I “just have to wait for an update.” Toyota has admitted the defect but refuses to replace the radio, rewire the vehicle, or provide a 2025 model (which has the updated system). I was told multiple times the delay is due to “FCC approval for the software update,” which is misleading — only hardware needs FCC approval. Toyota’s Bend representative assured me my warranty will apply once the update arrives, but with 10,000 miles left, there is still no fix. This issue is widespread and a clear safety concern because drivers cannot reliably use navigation or hands-free features, forcing unsafe phone use or emergency stops. Toyota is not taking ownership, and this should fall under Lemon Law protections. I request NHTSA investigate this defect in 2024 RAV4s, as the 2025 models already have the corrected hardware/software, leaving earlier owners with unresolved, unsafe systems.

At the beginning of April, 2025, Toyota began sending unrequested solicitations to subscribe to its “connected services” to the multimedia display in the center of the dashboard of the RAV4. Those solicitations take over the entire screen and prevent any other use of the display until the driver takes affirmative steps to dismiss the solicitation. They also interrupt the connection between an iPhone and the display, which requires the driver to completely reset the connection between the iPhone and the display. It can take up to five or six separate steps to click through additional screens, in different locations on each screen, before the display returns to its original state. This is particularly dangerous when the prior use of the display was for navigation, as the map cannot be returned to without going through those screens and presses. The steps required to remove these unwanted solicitations create a materially dangerous likelihood of distracted driving. I have never at any time given Toyota permission to send me these unwanted and intrusive electronic message solicitations, and I have explicitly revoked any and all such permissions which Toyota might claim were created by my purchase and.or operation of the vehicle. I request that an inquiry be opened and that the inquiry determine that Toyota's forced interruption of the operation of a vehicle such as my RAV4 is a safety defect and that Toyota be ordered to discontinue its dangerous practice.

On April 4, 2025, my wife was driving at about 40 miles per hour when her vehicle struck an obstruction in the road. The impact caused relatively minor collision damage to the vehicle (a bent wheel strut). However the side curtain airbags deployed, startling my wife and limiting her vision on either side of the vehicle. Fortunately She was able maintain control of the vehicle, steer to a safe location and stop off the roadway. When inspected by the auto body repair shop where the vehicle is currently being repaired, the technicians were puzzled that the side airbags went off for such relatively minor accident, particularly since the impact to the vehicle had been to the front and not the sides. Under the circumstances, the premature deployment of the airbags could have actually made the accident worse if my wife had lost control of the vehicle. Under the circumstances, we felt compelled to report the incident to you for investigation in the event other RAV4 owners are experiencing the same problem.

Bought a 2024 Rav 4 on Oct 4 ,2024. Has a little over two thousand miles in it now. On two different occasions the vehicle has lurched pulled forward while I was sitting stopped foot on the brake. The first incident I was stopped at a stop sign waiting to enter a highway. All of a sudden the motor revved up and vehicle began lurching forward the brake I was pushing on would not stop the vehicle. I was dragged from the stop sign to the highway. I had to turn the key off to stop the Vehicle. The second incident was about a week later. I was stopped at a red light. Foot again on the brake. Suddenly the engine began to rev up and lurching against the brake. I immediately turned the engine off this time. Finally got the vehicle towed to Postoak Toyota in Midwest City where I purchased it. Postoak had told me three different times that I would have to to pay the tow fee or drive the unsafe vehicle to them. About an hour and a half drive. Finally Triple AAA said I was covered through Postoak. Had vehicle towed on May 31 2025. On June 3,2025 I was informed by a Postoak mechanic there was nothing found wrong with my vehicle. I was informed the vehicle has a start stop feature and letting my foot off brake when stopped would cause a small lurch. What happened to me twice in the Rav 4 was no small lurch. Literally dragging me with my foot squarely on the brake. I drove an Escape for six years which had the same start stop feature. Never did the Escape lurch forward.

I bought my car in the end of November 2024, and in April 2025 which is less than 5 months and the car's been driven less than 2,000 miles, I noticed the black plastic parts of my car in the front have been melting. This is a defect in the material composition. I see a good amount of other people sharing their similar melting experience on online platforms. When I brought the car and shown pictures to a local Toyota service center, Toyota says it's due to solar convergence. I also called Toyota corporate, and they told me it's not my fault. I have heard of this happening in the 2021 Rav 4's. The sunroof was looked by a Toyota dealership and they didn't say anything about it, only saying it was not covered under warranty. There not indications of cracking or any else prior to the shattering.

On my way home from work it started to rain, and my pre-collision light came on. The rain slowed down as I was home put the vehicle in park to take a picture of the pre-collision light, and the light went off. This happens around October to December of 2024. I checked and cleaned Front windshield and front Toyota emblem. I couldn't find anything wrong. One day in January 2025 after church on a sunny day as soon as I put my vehicle in gear the pre-collision light came on again which I was able to get a picture of. Each time I checked windshield and front emblem and found nothing wrong. I took the vehicle to Hendrick Toyota to have the pre-collision light checked January 23, 2025. I was told no codes were found and the reason my light came on it because my vehicle sensor is dirty. I told the service adviser when my light went of the vehicle was clean including all the sensor. The only reason the vehicle was dirty was because it had snowed the day before and I had to drive in the snow, slush, and salt to get to the dealership. April 4/28/2025 I brought the vehicle to the dealership again to have the pre-collision sensor checked. This time they said they found codes from way back. I was driving home in exceptionally heavy rain. Before getting home, I decided to stop at a coffee drive thru. It was still raining pretty heavily as I drove up to the pick up window. I had my foot on the brake as I waited for my order. A few minutes went by when suddenly the car shook a bit and completely shut off. A warning sign came up on the dash screen that read “engine stopped, steering power low” and instructed to put the car in park. That warning message would come up every time I tried to put the gearshift back in drive. I kept trying to restart the car many times, the engine cracked but no start. At one point I even tried putting the car in neutral to attempt to push it out of drive thru lane but the car and steering wheel were locked in place. There was no way to move either. It’s still raining at this point but it has significantly lightened up. About 15 - 20 minutes later, the car started up like normal and I was able to put the gearshift in drive. The car is less than a year old and nothing like this has ever happened before. There were absolutely no warning signs prior to this happening, everything on the dashboard and the mobile app associated with the car showed the car was in “good health.” I am SO incredibly lucky this happened at a drive thru and not in the middle of a highway or busy intersection. You are left completely helpless since the engine completely shuts off and the steering wheel locks. If this happened on a highway, it would immediately create a multi vehicle accident or potentially worse. This is a HUGE safety risk that needs to be addressed immediately. I plan to take the vehicle into the dealership for inspection because I do not feel 100% safe anymore.

Insurance deemed it totaled due to frame damage. I also complained to Toyota. They hired a software engineer to investigate. Just received official letter from Toyota there weee no defects in their safety system. The issues are the airbags not being deployed at the time of impact and pre collision auto braking non existent. The impact on the wall according to the people inside the nursing she works felt like an earthquake inside. But our main concern is the auto brake feature did not function. This accident could have been worse. Good thing seatbelt was not an inch lower from her chest preventing injury to our unborn child. The impact could have been worse if it was made of wood and could have injured other people in the nursing home. The auto brake feature should have worked because there were many obstacles at her front including first the bushes and eventually the wall. Their response letter is frustrating for us because they are claiming there were no problems in the car. But our concern is their safety system is not reliable compare to other car companies. Kia and Honda safety system is more reactive based from my driving experience. I think there are lapses in their system.

I was in a parking space at the local library, waiting on my children. It was raining, and had been raining most of the day. I had driven about 60 miles in the rain before going to the library. This is a follow up of an incident reported on 3/30/2025, after the vehicle was driven approximately 30 miles in the rain, then stopped for 5 to 10 minutes idling with windshield wipers on intermittent setting. The service advisor was informed that there are other complaints online by other owners of the same symptoms under similar weather conditions while the vehicle is idling. The abs kicking in while braking on dry pavement has never gone away. At about 28,000 miles, i started to hear a brake squeaking noise coming from the front drivers side tire while braking at slow speeds, and when backing up. It came and went and now it is consistent and does it all the time and also squeaking when not breaking and turning to the right. I had a mechanic remove my tire and he said the bolt to the brake caliper is loose and the caliper itself is loose and that the brake pads are fine. I am now seeing there is a safety recall for this exact complaint for my exact car, Toyota rav4 hybrid 2024 , however, when checking if my vechile is part of the recall, by entering my VIN #, it says my vehicle is not part of this recall. This needs to be addressed and fixed by Toyota as this is a manufacturing defect. A caliper bolt should not come loose on its own if properly installed.

I am experiencing (along with many other customers) software issues related to navigation. Toyota acknowledges the issue, wherein the head unit on the car gives bad gps data when it communicates with the phone via AirPlay. This causes the any navigation system to think that you’re in the wrong location. Symptoms include having the navigation think you’re not on the highway and it rerouting you every time there is an exit. I almost got into a car accident following erroneous routing. While it’s a software issue, (technically, the head unit is not clearing the memory in the onboard computer properly, there’s a memory leak) it makes the car undrivable and we bought it brand new. The most disappointing part is that Toyota says there’s no fix and we just have to live with it. We have 10.5 monitor that displays completely false and dangerous information. That’s like saying I buy an iPhone but my calling function on the phone doesn’t work and Apple saying your stuck with the faulty phone. Given the sophistication of a modern day car, I believe software problems are just as important as faulty brakes or airbags. In fact this issue is dangerous everytime you get in the car. I experienced this issue occurred when I was on the highway when I had no way to stop and could not rely on my navigation. It is so dangerous. It’s reprehensible that Toyota does not have to be held accountable for this. I don’t know what to do with my car. I don’t feel safe driving it. Just to be clear, my phone works on other Toyotas, so not a phone problem. I’ve also tried other phones on my car and all have the same problem. The master technician said he sees this commonly on cars but he has no fix. Toyota will not replace the head unit. They are unable to do anything.

I then heard the noise of wind. My sunroof had exploded. Fortunately, I had the sunroof and the interior screen closed, so glass did not fall into my car. Once I was able to pull over, I examined the sunroof to find it had shattered and there was no indication of anything falling on or colliding with it. I took two photos and proceeded slowly to the Toyota dealer (Ourisman Toyota in Richmond, Va.) where I purchased the car brand-new/off-the-truck in February 2024. The dealer stated that they would not cover glass, including a spontaneously exploding sunroof on a new car, and so I am required to pay out of pocket. I just purchased a 2024 Toyota RAV4 SE Hybrid in March 2024 at Summit Toyota in Akron, Ohio.  On [XXX], the  A/C was not blowing cold air and was making loud noise when turned on.    I made an appointment for the car to get checked.    Our RAV4 has approximately 3200 miles and is used by my wife sparingly around town.   Summit Toyota called me on 8-19-24 and said there was damage to the compressor from “possibly” a rock.   They said it would not be covered under the warranty.  The total cost is around $1.250.00.  We currently have a 2020 Highlander and many other Toyotas before our current ones.  We decided to purchase this RAV4  because we wanted the reliability of a Toyota.   After today’s assessment from Summit Toyota that this was “possibly” caused from a rock then there must be a design flaw in the grate opening size.  This is a safety concern if rocks/road debris can damage components of the vehicle this easily. I am unable to use any GPS system when connected to the Multimedia function via Apple CarPlay. The location of the car on the maps is inaccurate. I could be a few feet to a few miles off. I called Toyota Brand Engagement to report this. Initially I asked if they could give me a complimentary subscription to their "Direct Connect" as suggested by the Toyota Service center at my Dealership. Ihad hopes that this might improve the location services. This was denied. I have taken it to the dealership 3 times in an effort to resolve this. I was told that they have seen this a few times and have replaced the radios in some cars previously with some success. At the last service visit Toyota was contacted by the service center and they were told to NOT replace any more radios and Case #240705001763 was initiated by the Toyota Brand Engagement center concerning MY car. No fix has been supplied yet nor have I received any communication about this. On Friday August 9, I spoke to "resolution specialist" who said she would escalate this as a safety issue. I have not received any communication since (except the post call survey). This is a safety concern as it renders all GPS wayfinding apps inaccurate( Waze, Google maps, Apple maps. This is a huge problem if you are relying on these. I paid almost $50,000 for this car and I expect the GPS to work

I purchased the car 1/31/24 the very next day I experienced a rough idle and the car revving up its own. Toyota was unable to duplicate the problem. In May, I experienced a small leak by driver side pillar A. I was told the vehicle was fixed. In June, I had a leak in the same pillar as well but additional areas were showing a leak. I was told the first leak was from the sunroof. The 2nd leak I was told it was the windshield. The windshield was replaced in July. In August, I am now experiencing a leak again in the same places. Toyota is deeming the care safe and drivable regardless of the fact that the car is still leaking The dealership suggest I trade in the vehicle. Aside from the leak, I’ve dealt with steering/alignment issues which have been looked at twice.

Pulling lightly, or with any degree of resistance, will not allow the shoulder strap to be loosed so it can be used. As a result a passenger cannot be seated in the center of the rear bench seat. Also, the cover assembly for the rear cargo area was installed incorrectly so it cannot be pulled out and secured to the slots. It appears this was a dealership prep mistake.

I lost confidence in Toyota and feel nervous as similar damage may happen in future also. How can you ensure that they recall and install better wind shield. Dealers sell Warranty for the same when we buy new cars, so that Financial impact is taken care by additional 3-4 K. $ warranty sale. But what about Passenger in front if the windshield breaks and cause face / eye injury. The wind shield of RAV4 is too thin for it large area (size). It may be OK for windows and rear, but not OK for front. Do they test the impact test on Wind shield (1/2 cm stone or ice (hail) hitting the wind shield from their vendors? Waited all day, even called a Tow truck. Right when tow was about to show up, I started the car again, no message, and car was fine. I told dealership, and they told me it was because the engine got water in it. But looking online it's because of a faulty battery or alternator from the factory. Two days later, it happened AGAIN as I was parking. I saw the warning momentarily as I was turning off the car. I turned it back on again, and no message. Please look into this. I fear for everyone who buys a Rav4 from the factory. It seems to be a common occurrence for brand new Rav4, not just a one or two happenstance.

I'm driving a rental Toyota RAV4. I stopped the car at a curb, pushed the button to turn off the engine, and got out. There was a beeping sound (accessory on beep). I ignored it, as I wanted to quickly check something outside. I started to walk away and someone yelled 'car rolling'. I ran back, couldn't block the heavy car, opened the door and jammed on the foot brakes. Then I noticed the car was still in Drive. With no engine-transmission torque against the wheels. The car is proximity-keyed, but does not require the transmission to be in the Park position, to turn the engine off. This has happened twice in my driveway as well. In retrospect I'm lucky not to have been struck or run over by the car or clipped by the door. -------- Yes I 'should' have put it in park. But every regularly keyed vehicle I have driven won't let me remove the key until it is in Park, and as I said this has happened when I was doing other things in the car in my driveway. Going proximity keyless has dropped the transmission interlock requirement. This is a recipe for disaster.

Very unfortunately, the vehicle is behaving dangerous to our lives because I've only had it for about 8 days and 300 KM on it on [XXX], I drove about 50 km into the city, while driving the vehicle seemed to start losing power and bucking. Several error symbols flashed including the engine light. I managed to pull mostly off the road but not all the way off. My rear was still on the road. The car was unresponsive. I waited a few seconds then tried to turn off and restart the car. The message "Steering Power Low" came on as well as several warning lights. I turned the car off totally and waited. I tried restarting again. Same bucking and error message. I turned the car off. and reported the issue to Brampton east toyota, they perform some checks and found battery issue and ask me to report if comes again I was promised this issue would not come again, but second time on Friday [XXX] evening this happened again and the car lost all power and slightly hit a road side wall, thanks to the the [XXX] the car was not in speed or on a express highway otherwise Toyota would found 5 dead bodies including a 5 year old child in car. Now with the "Steering Power Low" inow steering is not getting automatically back to the normal position I have to roll it back to normal and behaving really strange and since its in garage and Also The car is driving in the parking mode ON and the reverse camera is also displaying. I really don't feel safe to take the car out on the road, I don't want others to have problem because of my car I have showed all the videos and I would appreciate it if you could organise it before you find us with injuries on a highway or dead. and We look forward to an immediate action settling this matter amicably. Searching online and a lot of other people are having same issue, causing there cars to die and not restart when they are in traffic. Most people reporting the same issue have had their cars die on them while on the highway in stop and go traffic, which could lead to a wreck. I don’t want this to happen to me or anyone else as I travel a lot with my two small children in the vehicle. Other items to note, almost all the people I found online with same issue have said that it was also raining, with their windshield wipers on and the start stop function turned on. I am also have an issue with the alignment.
