She was not operating the sunroof at the time. The fabric sunshade was open at the time. Dealership refuses to cover the damage 2200 under warranty.

After driving IN RAIN for about 27 Miles then idling in slow traffic, vehicle started running poorly, stalled and would not run properly. Got "Reduced Engine Power, Visit Your Dealer Message". Engine would start but stall when put in drive. I held up traffic for several minutes. After several minutes of restarting and stalling, I ran engine in park for 2000-3000 rpm for about a minute. The car then ran fine and I drove for over a week before I could get it to the dealer. It seemed to be run fine during this time. Dealer found code P010014, MAF sensor and replaced the sensor. Toyota TSB T-TT-0763-24 appears to describe this issue but it does not appear to have a real resolution for this. It is 'under investigation' Just replacing the sensor, if it is just another one of the same type does not give me confidence that this dangerous condition may not happen again. There are many reports like this one.

The hood on the Rav4 has excessive vibration at speeds 60 to 70 mph. This is very distracting to the driver. It was reported to the Toyota dealer (Gettle of Charlotte County Florida). Their response was they drove another one on the lot it had the same issue. It has happened since purchased new.

I was driving the car for 25 minutes over main roads and freeway. There was lots of rain and water on the roadways, plus we just had major snowfall recently that was melting. I get to my destination and had my car in idle for 7 minutes in park. I shift into Drive and my car shudders and the engine shuts off with an error "Engine Stopped- Steering Power Low". I turn off the car and let it sit for one hour. Come back start it up and it does, only to repeat the shudder and then throw the same code. I had it towed to Toyota of Auburn, WA. They don't know what the problem is.Reddit forums have consumers with the same car complaining about this issue with no resolve.

The 12.3 in multi media display keeps going blank while driving I have taking it back a couple of times and still does it on the way back from a trip this year the screen went blank while I was using the map in a city and about got into a accident

Everything working properly and just fine until Monday 3/2/26 when I started the vehicle to go to work, the main radio multimedia screen was black and did not display anything. No sound was playing either along with when I placed the car in reverse, there was not the backup camera display as well. Everything was pitch black. I then proceeded to drive the car to work and then decided to take it to the Toyota dealership near my house at the earliest convenience which was today (3/4/26). In the mean time until I brought the car to the dealership, I researched information and videos on how to diagnose it myself and try troubleshooting my self. Also, when car is running, I got a message stating malfunction with AEB/FCW. Tried the fuse route and tried disconnecting the negative battery terminal for 15 minutes and tried holding the main power knob for 30 plus seconds. All of those did not work. I then took into dealership and once I got there, the service technician saw the screen working and then also saw the screen acting up and turned on but had lines in the middle of the screen. The technician had me turn vehicle off and once we turned back on it went back to the black screen. So once I went the route of having them diagnose it, they said they could not duplicate concern that we saw with the lines in the screen etc., therefore the technician gave the vehicle back with the screen not working still until we do have it working with the lines. I was about to leave and then the issue with the screen and lines cam up on the screen and I was able to have the technician look at it and diagnose. That is when advisor came to me and said the radio head is completely not working and cannot be fixed or saved. Repair is $2,769 with labor for a new radio head per the advisor. Car is not under warranty because of how many miles are currently on vehicle so I cannot get this fixed for free under warranty. Would have to be out of pocket and I denied that. Please help me get this fixed.

The Apple CarPlay/navigation system in our 2024 Toyota RAV4 consistently drifts and displays incorrect vehicle location while driving. Navigation apps (Apple Maps, Google Maps, Waze) provide inaccurate positioning and incorrect directions. This creates a distraction and unsafe driving condition, particularly for a teenage driver. Additionally, when connected to the vehicle, the iPhone’s GPS location also drifts, preventing accurate real-time location tracking by a parent. Even once disconnected the drifting on the phone navigation continues. The vehicle has been taken to a Toyota dealership multiple times. All software updates have been completed, but the problem persists and appears to have worsened. Toyota has no solve and refuse to put in a new navigation/CarPlay system. This defect has existed since the vehicle was purchased new in 2024.

This is my 2nd report to NHTSA and the 3 rd time in one year that this has happened to my 2024 Rav 4. It’s raining and I just pulled in to a Publix parking lot and not even 5 minutes of me sitting here preparing to go into the store my engine starts sputtering and shuts off. I’ve taken my vehicle to a Toyota dealership both previous times and they said they didn’t find anything

On 12/24/25 I was pulling into a parking space, took foot off accelerator to brake and vehicle suddenly accelerated and engine revved. I kept pushing the brake, but the vehicle kept lurching forward and slammed into car parked in front of me before finally stopping. My vehicle was going so hard forward that it pushed the car I hit 2 to 3 feet out of it's parking space and even punctured the radiator. It was not raining, the floor mat was not in the way, I did not have cruise control engaged. On 12/10/25 I took my car to Toyota dealership because I had a slow leak in one tire, which had to be replaced. At that time, the service department also updated parking assist software (could that be the problem?). In answer to above questions: * brakes and accelerator malfunctioned and it is available for inspection upon request. * no one was in the car I hit. I was not injured. * the problem has not been reproduced to my knowledge or confirmed. * the vehicle has been inspected by a third-party that Toyota engaged and also Erie Insurance. A police report is available. * there was no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure on 12/24/25.

The vehicle's dashboard and 9.5" screen go blank while driving down the road. It is random at times and you have no idea how fast you are traveling, viewing screen, etc.. It just goes completely black. The Certified Toyota dealer says that there is a recall on the 12.5" screens blacking out randomly but not on the 9.5" screens so the vehicle does not qualify for the recall and Toyota is saying they don't have a fix for the vehicle. Have tried to contact higher level Toyota contacts (claims) and they have not been of any help. With the screen going completely black, an individual has no idea how fast they are driving, what service indicator lights might be on, no idea how much gas there is in the car. The entire dash and associated screen which also houses the back up camera are completely useless. It happens at random points in time while driving. This is a safety issue as one does not know speed of vehicle or any warning lights. Dash and screen are completely blank.

The contact stated that both vehicles were towed away from the scene of the crash. The contact stated that their vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. Vehicle rolled backwards in reverse while brake pedal was pressed all the way down. Claim was filed with Toyota. After two months, they have said it is a non-issue.

I have had multiple instances where the vehicle has failed to accelerate when making a left hand turn. Each time this has occurred, my car has rolled into the intersection from a stop at a small decline, but the gas seems to do nothing. My car silently rolls forward and then I have no power or gas and am trapped with no acceleration. I’m worried this is going to get me into an accident and seriously injured. It does not happen super often, but enough that I know there is a problem. Dealer has not been able to see any codes, and we have not been able to recreate the issue in front of the service advisors.

I am submitting this complaint to document an unresolved vehicle safety concern and loss of confidence in safe operation. My vehicle experienced serious safety-related malfunctions and warnings, and despite service visits, I was not provided written confirmation that the vehicle was safe to operate. After repairs were reportedly completed, I repeatedly requested written safety verification, which was not provided. Due to the unresolved safety concerns and lack of written safety assurance, I did not feel it was safe to resume driving the vehicle. A loaner vehicle was provided while the safety issues were being addressed. The loaner was later recovered before my safety concerns were resolved and without advance notice, leaving me without a vehicle that I could confirm was safe to operate. I am reporting this because I continue to lack confidence in the safety of the vehicle and want this documented as a safety concern. This complaint is not about customer service, but about unresolved safety issues and the absence of written confirmation that the vehicle is safe to drive.

2024 Toyota RAV4 XLE AWD, VIN [XXX]. Steering defect appeared at approximately 12,000 miles (April 2025). Vehicle pulls significantly to the right, requiring constant steering correction. Driver must continuously hold left side of steering wheel to maintain straight path. If steering wheel released, vehicle immediately drifts right. Pull is constant and especially noticeable at highway speeds. THREE REPAIR ATTEMPTS FAILED: June 2025 (14,715 miles): Two wheel alignments performed same day - both failed to correct pull. November 2025 (16,091 miles): Replaced blown passenger rear shock absorber - pull persisted. December 2025 (16,819 miles): Performed 10+ wheel alignments. Toyota Corporate Technical Assistance filed case #53530239 and instructed ABS/SAS reset - failed. Technicians documented "rear suspension binding" but did not mechanically repair. SUSPECTED CAUSE: Strut mount bearing binding/failure or suspension binding. Dealership replaced shock but not strut mounts (industry best practice is replacing both together when shock fails at low mileage). Documented binding issue was not mechanically repaired - only software reset attempted. CURRENT STATUS: Vehicle unsafe to drive. 16,819 miles in two years. New rattling noise developed in right front dashboard after December repairs. This is a manufacturing defect appearing in first year at low mileage, not wear and tear. SAFETY CONCERN: Driver must maintain constant corrective pressure on steering wheel to prevent rightward drift. Risk of vehicle drifting into adjacent lane or off road if driver momentarily distracted. Defect creates dangerous driving condition, particularly at highway speeds. Front Brake Squeal/Squaek Noise when light or moderate braking. Started around 10000 miles.

During a head-on collision with a tree, the vehicle sustained major front-end damage and the airbag deployed, resulting in a cracked sternum, three fractured ribs, and a three-day hospitalization. No warning lights or prior symptoms were present, and the incident has not been reproduced or confirmed by a service center. The vehicle is currently held at the insurance-approved collision facility and remains available for inspection. Law enforcement and insurance representatives have reviewed the vehicle, but no manufacturer evaluation has occurred. Given the severity of the injuries and absence of prior indicators, I believe further investigation is necessary to determine whether a safety-related malfunction occurred and to help prevent potential risk of death to other drivers.

I was driving home, about a 30 min drive, in heavy rain. Once I got home, I left my car running to run inside. When I came back out the car was shaking and idling funny. A "low steering power" diagnostic came up and then also a parking malfunction. I turned the car off. It would barely turn over and still multiple diagnostic lights on. I pulled in into the garage and after sitting off for about 10 minutes, it started fine. I've seen multiple posts about this same issue. It's definitely a safety concern.

Refusing to replace bad suspension components under warranty due to Toyota being above the law and more concerned about profits than safety on the road ways.

Front camera quit working and it costs 2000 to replace which is absolutely ridiculous for a 2024 car. It should not have went out in a year and a half. It causes all the safety things on the car to not work properly.

Rav 4 2024 Mileage 44,780 Got off work and started car and drove home no issues was driving in the rain for about 30 mins. I get home and park and my car is sitting for a minute. Then it started to idle strange/ shaking and I see the rpms are jumping between 1k-2k I try to give it gas and nothing happens. I end up turning the car off and back on and the car starts but sputters/shakes and turns right off this happens multiple times. I leave it alone and start it 30 mins later it starts but is shaking very badly. I turn it off and call for a tow to the dealership. I go back and start it an hr later it starts fine and runs fine. I get it towed to the dealership and they keep it for 1 1/2 days they find nothing wrong saying everything is running the way it is designed to run. I go and pick it up and they state they completely inspected and drove multiple times there is nothing going wrong. I take the car and drive it for 3 mins around the block then park the car engine shuts off on its own but everything is still on message states engine stopped power steering low. Took it back the dealership has no idea what’s going wrong. This is a concern because it can happen while driving and the car will stop on its own and cause an accident. This needs to be addressed due to the dealership not knowing what is going on and it being a safety concern.

Impact is to software. Apple car play is malfunctioning. Will not allow bluetooth calls while apple car play is active. Phone will continue to ring on screen however, and will not be able to take call handsfree while driving. Call will not allow communication from driver to caller, only can hear caller. Concerns have been ongoing since May.

The display panel keeps going blank. I called the dealer months ago to notify them and was told they have not been notified of ANY recalls!!! I called two weeks ago to be told there IS a recall but nothing is available to correct this issue! The backup camera is useless at times. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE!!! Airbag light indicator is on showing baby seat is in front passenger seat even when an adult is sitting in the seat. Airbag light indicator switches from baby or booster seat to airbag light indicator when there is no one in the front passenger seat.

In addition, the contact was informed that if the failure occurred while driving the vehicle, the instrument cluster would be disabled. The contact was informed that the safety features would not be available because of the unrepaired recall. The contact was not satisfied with the information. The contact was very frightened to drive the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle was the only means of transportation. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The contact had not experienced a failure regarding the unrepaired recall repair.

Driving on a city portion of Highway 69 between Prescott and Prescott Valley, traveling about 45mph, the panoramic moonroof suddenly exploded. There was no one near us and the road is newly paved so no obstacles. Glass shards rained down on us. This happened on a normal day about 75 degrees. Totally unexpected. I did sustain a cut on a finger. This could have harmed one of us with flying glass. We have contacted our insurance company and directed us to a collision compare place. In checking online, I see that others have experienced the same problem and there are lawsuits about this issue.

The first time I was stopped at a red light and the car started acting like it was missing and then it shut off this was during rain the message on the dash said engine stopped steering power low. The next time this happened I was parking it a parking lot and the engine did the same it rpm started going up and down like it was missing then it shut off and showed the message engine stopped steering power low this was also during rain after I had been driving in the rain. After about 20 minutes both times the car would start and drive as normal. I have looked online and multiple people have had the same issue.

The vehicle on board information screen will either fail to connect to phone for gps service, or will disconnect mid drive causing the gps service to stop. When the phone fail to connect with the screen it forces me to use the map on my phone causing me to look away from the road and at times have to hope my phone in my hand or risk missing my stop/exit.

Recently, I have been noticing that my defroster has not been working properly. Only defrosting a portion of the windshield in the front. I have also noticed that my GPS screen will sometimes go completely black while driving. I am also having to reconnect my phone every time I am in the car after it has already been connected for some time throughout my drive. I am not sure completely what’s going on, but I have noticed that the recall that is currently out for Toyota. My car is having the same issues. There is no warning lights or anything that have come up. I did contact Toyota customer care about the issues.

The hood flutters, and this shimmering is distracting, especially on the highway. The dealership adjusted the rubber stoppers, and this did not fix the problem. On the highway, I have had sunlight flashing in my eyes which poses a safety concern, due to this hood flexing. The problem was noted by the sales rep at the dealership when test driving, and even after a service visit two days later. I bought this car, gold certified, a few days ago and it has persisted since. This seems to be a common problem for which there is a TSB for a Lexus vehicle already.

Had to have my 2024 Toyota RAV 4 towed for a second time in 2 month after driving in heavy rain. During the first instance, I drove less than 10 miles on the highway in very heavy rain. Arrived at my destination, put the car in park and the engine and RPM meter started pulsating, revving feeling as if the car were going to stall. Turned the engine off, had the vehicle towed to the dealership who found "no issues" with the car. Again on September 23, 2025, I drove through a heavy rain storm, arrived a my destination and again the engine/RPM were pulsating/revving. An hour later when I went to leave (in no rain), started the vehicle and the engine began to sputter, all warning lights on the dash board went on including in part "Parking Support Brake Malfunction Visit Your Dealer", "Pre-Collision System Malfunction Visit Your Dealer" and "Engine Stopped Steering Power Low", and the engine sputtered and shut off. Had the vehicle towed to another dealership where it has been for 5 days with the technician telling me he cannot replicate the issue. This is a serious problem for a new vehicle with 17k miles. Not only is this is a safety risk due to vehicle failure/shut down, it is a serious defect in a product that I paid $40,000 for. Please do all that can be done to force Toyota to fix this issue, as it appears based on review of similar complaints on this website that this is happening quite a lot. Separately, it is more than concerning that total engine failure does not generate codes sufficient for Toyota technicians to diagnose such a fatal problem.

Hood vibration/fluttering at 40 speed and more at highway speeds, visible shaking even when closed. I took my car to dealer but they said no recalls. No help me with the car issues. That vibration distracted me and made me feel not safety as well as my passengers.

While driving, I heard a loud noise on roof of car. The sunroof/moonroof spontaneously shattered, pieces of glass around edge came loose and flew off and part of the frame dislodged. No cars around that could have thrown something up on top of car to cause this. I took to Toyota dealer and they said it was not under warranty and refused to cover. I filed a claim with AAA insurance and they don’t think they can cover because, according to their assessor, it appears to be a defect with no single point of contact to cause the shatter. As is, the car is not safe to drive for fear of glass completely breaking and flying off, as well as there being no protection from the roof, as the sunroof/moonroof critical to the integrity of the car.

AC drainage system easily clogs and creates undetectable leaks on the interior of the car that create flooding in the car and mold growth at least a month before visible water collection and smell. This is widespread across Toyota vehicles and my dealership reports at least 4 cars a month with this issue which is a high occurrence. This issue is undetectable and is a major health concern for passengers causing a major safety risk, especially since undetected. There is documentation of this issue across Toyota models and Lexus models

The windshield has a huge blurriness that started forming few weeks ago and has expanded across driver's side of view. The blurriness on the windshield severely affects visibility as it makes the driving difficult, especially at night. We are certain and consulted with another person working at another dealership who said that the blurriness can only be caused by defective glue between the two windshield panels. However, the inspection at the AutoNation Buena Park dealership concluded the windshield blurriness to be caused by external factors and not a factory defect. This makes no sense as we cannot touch or influence what's inside the windshield.

Car Play, GPS, Voice Control system. Car Play and GPS is always off, sending wrong directions to get to a place. Voice control system interacts without being started by driver. I have been to the dealership where I bought the car; they know and acknowledge there is something wrong but they said there is no resolution at the moment.

I was heading south on I-495 (Massachusetts) in right lane at just under 65 mph. I had just passed an entrance ramp and overpass. A car was entering I495 on my right and coming up to speed. The car entered my lane from his entrance ramp to the right most lane in front of me. The car was about 20 feet in front of me. The entering car's speed was was greater than mine. When the second the car left the entrance ramp and pulled into my lane about 20-30 feet in front of me, my brakes slammed on, causing me and my passenger to lurch forward. My seat belts protected me and my passenger from harm, but it scared the **** out of us. This kind of nonsense of so-called "safety features" has to stop. Its bad enough that I have to put up with a car that stalls out when the car stops, even for a second, but what happened above is unacceptable as a "safety feature." I could have easily reacted by jerking the steering wheel to the right and gone off the road at full speed, fast enough to roll the car causing considerable harm to life.

The contact's daughter leased a 2024 Toyota Rav4. The contact stated that after receiving the vehicle from service, the contact noticed a glare on the windshield and a cloudy film, causing difficulty in seeing while driving day and night. The contact's daughter reached out to the dealer, who diagnosed the vehicle; however, the diagnostic result was unknown. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the issue and informed the contact to take the vehicle back to the dealer for assistance. The failure mileage was 6,000.

On July 27, 2025 I was pulling into a parking space at a local pharmacy. I had removed my foot from the accelerator pedal and it was resting on the brake pedal. My 2024 Hybrid Rav 4 lurched suddenly and then accelerated at a fast rate of speed. It was as if the vehicle was possessed. Although I braked, I was not able to stop the vehicle before damage was done to the front end. I have reported this incident to Toyota and they sent someone to download the analytics from the black box. I have a copy of that report. I believe Toyota is responsible for the repair of this vehicle which had less than 5.000 miles on it at the time of the incident. My vehicle had been serviced at a Toyota dealership on 7/23 for it's 5,000 mile service. I am now scared of my own vehicle and fear this will happen again.

When idling with intermittent wipers on, the vehicle began smoking under the hood, engine light came on dash as well as “steering power low” warning, then engine shut off. The vehicle was unable to be started again after waiting a few minutes. The gear shift could not move from parked. The vehicle was purchased new and had only 20,000 miles on it. I ended up having it towed to a Toyota dealership but by that time the battery was drained from leaving the hazards on too long. They could not identify any other problems and sent me on my way with a working vehicle. After talking to a manager at another Toyota dealership, they identified that this is an occasional problem with this vehicle. The manager was able to contact Toyota who suggested they replace the air intake tube and bezel. Hopefully after these new parts are replaced I will not experience a random shutdown again. It’s such a specific set of conditions to cause the problem but a quick search online showed that other people have encountered similar situations with the wipers on intermittent while idling. Someone mentioned pressing the switch to turn off the automatic engine shut off as a temporary fix. I was blocking traffic and police had to direct traffic around me while I waited for the tow. Thankfully the traffic was not moving fast.

Tire size 225/65R17 On [XXX] the front tire on the passenger side blew out on [XXX] just west of the exit to [XXX] as I was driving from Warren MI to Horseheads NY. I was able to safely steer off the highway to the shoulder. A man stopped to help, he put the donut on the car and put the blown out tire in the cargo space. I have the tire in my garage. I drove off the highway a few miles to the exit for Hornell NY and called Williams Toyota in Elmira NY, they had a replacement tire in stock but couldn’t fit me into their service schedule until July 15, 2025. I had to extend my stay in Horseheads by 2 nights so in addition to the cost of mounting and balancing the new tire I had to pay for 2 extra nights at the hotel where I was staying. I bought my RAV4 from Golling Toyota in Warren MI in February of 2024, it had 9843 miles on it, the tire was original equipment, and I have had the tires rotated as required by the maintenance schedule. Brakes failed to respond wheels locked and steering shut down

The hood of the vehicle vibrates excessively, especially at high speeds. I have reported this issue since the day of purchase and have taken the vehicle to the dealership four times without a resolution. This situation poses a significant safety risk to me and my family, as I believe the hood could open and cause a serious accident. I request an official inspection and resolution regarding this matter. Please advise on how to proceed with a possible warranty claim or further investigation.

Vehicle has stopped in the middle of the road 3 times so far each time I’m getting a message: Engine stopped Steering Power low

I purchased a brand-new 2024 Toyota RAV4 on November 18, 2023. Since early ownership, the Apple CarPlay/Bluetooth system has been defective. The system repeatedly disconnects, powercycles, and will not reconnect unless I pull over and restart the car, creating a serious safety hazard when I rely on navigation and hands-free features. I have taken my car to the dealership six times under warranty, leaving it for full days, providing photos, videos, and documentation (dates, times, temperatures) as requested. Toyota’s technical representative confirmed in 2023 that this is a known wiring issue affecting the radio WiFi/bluetooth system and said I “just have to wait for an update.” Toyota has admitted the defect but refuses to replace the radio, rewire the vehicle, or provide a 2025 model (which has the updated system). I was told multiple times the delay is due to “FCC approval for the software update,” which is misleading — only hardware needs FCC approval. Toyota’s Bend representative assured me my warranty will apply once the update arrives, but with 10,000 miles left, there is still no fix. This issue is widespread and a clear safety concern because drivers cannot reliably use navigation or hands-free features, forcing unsafe phone use or emergency stops. Toyota is not taking ownership, and this should fall under Lemon Law protections. I request NHTSA investigate this defect in 2024 RAV4s, as the 2025 models already have the corrected hardware/software, leaving earlier owners with unresolved, unsafe systems.

Small stone hit front windshield exactly in middle where window wiper sensor attaches and windshield split down the middle in two. Something is defective with these windshields. This is NOT normal to completely split like this.

Car is one year old, 13k miles and is having transmission issues, most likely related to e-CVT system. When braking you can hear grinding sounds from under the middle of the car. Acceleration is sluggish going up hills and engine seems to slip or race going down hills. Car is being taken to dealer Tuesday July 15 for diagnostics. No warning lights appeared on dash and no alerts on my mobile app. Internet search shows other RAV4 AWD Hybrids are experiencing the same issues.

Wipers turn on by them self, the radio shuts down on its own and then comes back on

THE CAR WENT OFF THE ROAD AND INTO TREES TOTALING THE VEHICLE - AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY.

At the beginning of April, 2025, Toyota began sending unrequested solicitations to subscribe to its “connected services” to the multimedia display in the center of the dashboard of the RAV4. Those solicitations take over the entire screen and prevent any other use of the display until the driver takes affirmative steps to dismiss the solicitation. They also interrupt the connection between an iPhone and the display, which requires the driver to completely reset the connection between the iPhone and the display. It can take up to five or six separate steps to click through additional screens, in different locations on each screen, before the display returns to its original state. This is particularly dangerous when the prior use of the display was for navigation, as the map cannot be returned to without going through those screens and presses. The steps required to remove these unwanted solicitations create a materially dangerous likelihood of distracted driving. I have never at any time given Toyota permission to send me these unwanted and intrusive electronic message solicitations, and I have explicitly revoked any and all such permissions which Toyota might claim were created by my purchase and.or operation of the vehicle. I request that an inquiry be opened and that the inquiry determine that Toyota's forced interruption of the operation of a vehicle such as my RAV4 is a safety defect and that Toyota be ordered to discontinue its dangerous practice.

On April 4, 2025, my wife was driving at about 40 miles per hour when her vehicle struck an obstruction in the road. The impact caused relatively minor collision damage to the vehicle (a bent wheel strut). However the side curtain airbags deployed, startling my wife and limiting her vision on either side of the vehicle. Fortunately She was able maintain control of the vehicle, steer to a safe location and stop off the roadway. When inspected by the auto body repair shop where the vehicle is currently being repaired, the technicians were puzzled that the side airbags went off for such relatively minor accident, particularly since the impact to the vehicle had been to the front and not the sides. Under the circumstances, the premature deployment of the airbags could have actually made the accident worse if my wife had lost control of the vehicle. Under the circumstances, we felt compelled to report the incident to you for investigation in the event other RAV4 owners are experiencing the same problem.

Driving down the highway in the pouring rain. Pulled over because the engine felt like it was about to stall. Whole engine cut off and check engine light came on with “engine stopped - power steering low”. Would act like it wanted to start again but shut back off every time. After about 30 minutes it started back up without any check engine lights or messages. This is the 3rd time its happened. Always in the rain.

Bought a 2024 Rav 4 on Oct 4 ,2024. Has a little over two thousand miles in it now. On two different occasions the vehicle has lurched pulled forward while I was sitting stopped foot on the brake. The first incident I was stopped at a stop sign waiting to enter a highway. All of a sudden the motor revved up and vehicle began lurching forward the brake I was pushing on would not stop the vehicle. I was dragged from the stop sign to the highway. I had to turn the key off to stop the Vehicle. The second incident was about a week later. I was stopped at a red light. Foot again on the brake. Suddenly the engine began to rev up and lurching against the brake. I immediately turned the engine off this time. Finally got the vehicle towed to Postoak Toyota in Midwest City where I purchased it. Postoak had told me three different times that I would have to to pay the tow fee or drive the unsafe vehicle to them. About an hour and a half drive. Finally Triple AAA said I was covered through Postoak. Had vehicle towed on May 31 2025. On June 3,2025 I was informed by a Postoak mechanic there was nothing found wrong with my vehicle. I was informed the vehicle has a start stop feature and letting my foot off brake when stopped would cause a small lurch. What happened to me twice in the Rav 4 was no small lurch. Literally dragging me with my foot squarely on the brake. I drove an Escape for six years which had the same start stop feature. Never did the Escape lurch forward.

I bought my car in the end of November 2024, and in April 2025 which is less than 5 months and the car's been driven less than 2,000 miles, I noticed the black plastic parts of my car in the front have been melting. This is a defect in the material composition. I see a good amount of other people sharing their similar melting experience on online platforms. When I brought the car and shown pictures to a local Toyota service center, Toyota says it's due to solar convergence. I also called Toyota corporate, and they told me it's not my fault. But they're not helping me fix the issue and repair my car. This should be under warranty. I just bought my car. I do not live somewhere with hot weather. It doesn't make sense, and it isn't acceptable for the car's plastic material on the outside to be melting like this. It's a safety concern that my car parts are melting.

Driving on the interstate highway when the sunroof glass just shattered. Luckily the cover was closed so no one was hit by the glass. Cars behind me could have been hit by flying glass. I have heard of this happening in the 2021 Rav 4's. The sunroof was looked by a Toyota dealership and they didn't say anything about it, only saying it was not covered under warranty. There not indications of cracking or any else prior to the shattering.

On my way home from work it started to rain, and my pre-collision light came on. The rain slowed down as I was home put the vehicle in park to take a picture of the pre-collision light, and the light went off. This happens around October to December of 2024. I checked and cleaned Front windshield and front Toyota emblem. I couldn't find anything wrong. One day in January 2025 after church on a sunny day as soon as I put my vehicle in gear the pre-collision light came on again which I was able to get a picture of. Each time I checked windshield and front emblem and found nothing wrong. I took the vehicle to Hendrick Toyota to have the pre-collision light checked January 23, 2025. I was told no codes were found and the reason my light came on it because my vehicle sensor is dirty. I told the service adviser when my light went of the vehicle was clean including all the sensor. The only reason the vehicle was dirty was because it had snowed the day before and I had to drive in the snow, slush, and salt to get to the dealership. I also informed them this not my first vehicle with forward Collison sensor. I had owned 3 Toyota Corolla with the same tocology. I was also told by another service advisor that She has seen other Rav4 with pre-collision light problems. About one week after dealership checked the pre-collision sensor it came on again and once again, I checked and made sure all sensors were clean. April 4/28/2025 I brought the vehicle to the dealership again to have the pre-collision sensor checked. This time they said they found codes from way back. I asked them how far back and were these codes back from my first service. Service adviser didn't know. But on my paper receipt it said they didn't find any codes but notice a very small rock chip in the glass and blamed it on that, which was not there when my problem had started with my issue of the pre-collision light. They said replace the windshield and that should fix it. I was told by another service advisor,

In addition, the contact stated that the pre-collision warning light illuminated; however, the warning light did eventually go off. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer, however the cause of the failure was not determined. The contact was informed that the failure was due to a dirty screen and a rock chip in the windshield. The contact was informed that the front windshield needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 4,000.

I was driving home in exceptionally heavy rain. Before getting home, I decided to stop at a coffee drive thru. It was still raining pretty heavily as I drove up to the pick up window. I had my foot on the brake as I waited for my order. A few minutes went by when suddenly the car shook a bit and completely shut off. A warning sign came up on the dash screen that read “engine stopped, steering power low” and instructed to put the car in park. That warning message would come up every time I tried to put the gearshift back in drive. I kept trying to restart the car many times, the engine cracked but no start. At one point I even tried putting the car in neutral to attempt to push it out of drive thru lane but the car and steering wheel were locked in place. There was no way to move either. It’s still raining at this point but it has significantly lightened up. About 15 - 20 minutes later, the car started up like normal and I was able to put the gearshift in drive. The car is less than a year old and nothing like this has ever happened before. There were absolutely no warning signs prior to this happening, everything on the dashboard and the mobile app associated with the car showed the car was in “good health.” I am SO incredibly lucky this happened at a drive thru and not in the middle of a highway or busy intersection. You are left completely helpless since the engine completely shuts off and the steering wheel locks. If this happened on a highway, it would immediately create a multi vehicle accident or potentially worse. This is a HUGE safety risk that needs to be addressed immediately. I plan to take the vehicle into the dealership for inspection because I do not feel 100% safe anymore.

I was sitting with the car in park. The car was running. My vehicle started shaking and said “Engine stopped, steering power low”.

It has happened two times. When is raining if you stop the car put it in park. The car starts to shake and it shuts off. Called road assistance brought it to the dealer. And they said there is nothing wrong with it. After researching it seems to be an ongoing issue several rav 4 owners 2024 xle have reported it on line. After a few minutes. The car starts up

I drove through heavy rain and after sitting in park for about 15 minutes, my car started shaking and the dashboard lit up. I received a power steering low message and when I tried shifting into drive, it said car not ready to drive. I turned it off and back on and it started, but eventually stalled after a few seconds. I called a tow truck to have it taken to the dealership and by the time he arrived, it start up like normal. Based on what im seeing online, this is becoming more of a common problem.

While attempting to restart the vehicle, there was an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle. The engine stopped; engine power was low, and the message “Not ready to Drive” was displayed. The contact stated that the gear shifter failed to move, and the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, who determined that the vehicle was working as designed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer informed the contact that there were no diagnostic trouble codes saved in the history. The manufacturer was contacted, and referred the contact to another dealer, but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 8,063.

My pregnant wife is parking her car at her work when she accidentally step on the gas pedal instead of the brakes. She panicked and she drove all the way to the wall. Airbags were not activated. 911 was dispatched. Police report made. Only minor injury finger fracture and chest bruise. There was a severe frontal damage to the car. Insurance deemed it totaled due to frame damage. I also complained to Toyota. They hired a software engineer to investigate. Just received official letter from Toyota there weee no defects in their safety system. The issues are the airbags not being deployed at the time of impact and pre collision auto braking non existent. The impact on the wall according to the people inside the nursing she works felt like an earthquake inside. But our main concern is the auto brake feature did not function. This accident could have been worse. Good thing seatbelt was not an inch lower from her chest preventing injury to our unborn child. The impact could have been worse if it was made of wood and could have injured other people in the nursing home. The auto brake feature should have worked because there were many obstacles at her front including first the bushes and eventually the wall. Their response letter is frustrating for us because they are claiming there were no problems in the car. But our concern is their safety system is not reliable compare to other car companies. Kia and Honda safety system is more reactive based from my driving experience. I think there are lapses in their system.

I was in a parking space at the local library, waiting on my children. It was raining, and had been raining most of the day. I had driven about 60 miles in the rain before going to the library. The car was on, but in park. The car started slightly shaking (like a big truck was going by), and it looked like some smoke was coming out of the engine. The car then flashed some lights on the dash and gave the following message: Engine Stopped. Steering Power Low. It then turned off, and I tried to turn it on multiple times to no avail. After researching online while waiting for a tow truck, I saw multiple references on Reddit to this problem. I waited about 20 minutes and was able to turn the car on, though it was hesitant. I was able to cancel the tow and drive the short distance home. It was scary because it came out of nowhere and this is a BRAND NEW CAR with only about 27,000 miles on it. I am not happy that this would be something I will have to worry about in the future. I have not reported it to the dealership, but saw online most people had no luck at the dealership and were told to report it here.

This is a follow up of an incident reported on 3/30/2025, after the vehicle was driven approximately 30 miles in the rain, then stopped for 5 to 10 minutes idling with windshield wipers on intermittent setting. Engine began to shudder, engine rpms increased/decreased erratically as the engine shook. The vehicle was turned off. After approximately 5 minutes, restarted vehicle and engine again ran erratically and then stalled, displaying “Engine Stopped, Steering Power Low” on the message center in the driver’s display. After the engine stalled, the vehicle would not restart and had to be towed. After being towed, the vehicle started and ran smooth. A short while later, the vehicle was started but again ran erratically, but did not stall right away and was turned off. The next day, 3/31/2025, the vehicle was taken to the dealership service department. The dealer stated that there were no diagnostic trouble codes stored in the vehicle computer, the battery was good condition, and the charging system was operating normally. They had no explanation for what happened. The service advisor suggested that when the gas tank was filled, it was overfilled after the gas pump clicked off. This, in fact is not the case. The gas tank was not overfilled. The service advisor was informed that there are other complaints online by other owners of the same symptoms under similar weather conditions while the vehicle is idling. The advisor stated that if it happens again, have it towed to the dealership service department

SUV shut off during heavy rain storm and won’t crank back up until after at least 5 to 7 minutes. I have had this happen four times and have had my vehicle towed to the Toyota dealership, etc..

- While driving the vehicle engaged in the automatic emergency breaking system due to the car in front of me, the car was awaiting to turn left, but my lane was clear and I actually did not have the car in front of my vehicle. - While driving to work, at about 40 miles per hour speed, during a not so windy day, in an non-graveled road, my sunroof glass shattered out of nowhere. the dealership checked the affected area and confirmed there was no foreign objects that might have caused the incident. (not covered under warranty)

Today on 4/1/2025 while driving home, the roads were wet/slushy, it was actively rain/sleeting outside. During the drive, my lane assist and front impact assist was disabled due what the dash read of "sensor blocked" or somthing similar. I got home minutes later and pulled into my garage, put my car in park and sat with it idling in park for about 2-3 minutes, at that time, is when I felt it start to shake a little bit and then it shut off by itself. A warning popped up on my dash that read "engine stopped, steering power low".

On 3/30/2025, I drove my 2024 Toyota RAV 4 Adventure about 30 miles in the rain with the wipers on. I then put the car in park, with the wipers still on intermittent setting and the engine still running. After sitting in park like this for approximately 5 minutes, the engine began to shudder, with engine RPMs decreasing and increasing erratically, and the engine was also shaking as the RPMs increased and decreased. I then turned the car off for approximately 5 minutes. When I restarted the car after 5 minutes, the erratic RPM resumed, and then the engine stopped running, and my display screen showed the following message: “Engine Stopped, Steering Power Low”. The check engine, check steering, and check battery lights were also illuminated on the dashboard. The vehicle would not restart after several tries and ultimately ended up having the vehicle towed 30 minutes. Once the tow truck dropped it off, the engine started right up and the error messages were no longer displayed.

Car was stationary in a fast food drive-thru. The car started shuddering/idling funny and rpm needle was jumping a bit. Turned the car off and tried to turn it back on and the car would not crank. (I then had to put the car in Neutral and have some workers at the restaurant push my car out of the drive-thru). After about 5 minutes of sitting in the parking lot, the car finally cranked and I was able to drive it home normally. This happened after a heavy rain. Message on the dash said something like "Engine off Power Steering Low."

Sunroof imploded. No point of impact, glass broken on seam of sunroof

The forward panel of the panoramic sunroof on my 2024 Toyota hybrid XSE spontaneously imploded. There was not impact from a rock or other object, no potholes or other defects in the road, and this did not occur under overpass. The car is less than 1 year old and it appears to be a common occurrence in similar models over the last few years. Toyota denies that this a defect in their materials or manufacturing and continues to insist that each instance of the panoramic sunroof must have been caused by outside factors.

I noticed at 3 thousand miles my abs light would come on and the abs would kick in and hear a grinding noise when braking over a slight dip in the road and entering a parking lot (breaking on incline slope or decline slope. I brought it into the Toyota dealership and they said they looked at everything (only 5 minutes) and nothing was wrong with brakes. The abs kicking in while braking on dry pavement has never gone away. At about 28,000 miles, i started to hear a brake squeaking noise coming from the front drivers side tire while braking at slow speeds, and when backing up. It came and went and now it is consistent and does it all the time and also squeaking when not breaking and turning to the right. I had a mechanic remove my tire and he said the bolt to the brake caliper is loose and the caliper itself is loose and that the brake pads are fine. I am now seeing there is a safety recall for this exact complaint for my exact car, Toyota rav4 hybrid 2024 , however, when checking if my vechile is part of the recall, by entering my VIN #, it says my vehicle is not part of this recall. This needs to be addressed and fixed by Toyota as this is a manufacturing defect. A caliper bolt should not come loose on its own if properly installed.

Moonroof spontaneously shattered, much like an explosion, while driving.

Vehicle said steering power low and caused engine to shut off. Tried to crank several times and car would come on but would not crank correctly. I believe water got into the power steering due to it raining outside. This is the first time I have had this happen with my car

SRS Airbag System Malfunction light came on. After I got gas for the vehicle and got in start up this error popped up. I heard this is a common problem with these vehicles please have a recall to fix the problem

While trying to stop on red light, I noticed break did not have enough strength and it was skidding a for second and break suspended message appeared on dash board. I went to Toyota dealership and they said if they can't replicate the problem, fee of $225 need to be charged. And I need to drive with them and due to time constraint, I had to return. I also mentioned about Toyota's voluntary recall on break which I found on Google but as I have not received any notice from them, I am not qualified.

Engine block cracked at 3600 miles on a 74 degree day. At 5714 miles, vehicle had another issue of coolant loss.

It was raining and we drove about an hour, parked and shutoff car, went into the store, came back out and car would not turn on. Error message that came up was “Engine Stopped Sterring Power Low” This is a brand new car just bought last year. We kept trying to turn car on and error message kept coming up. Waited for tow truck and car ended up turning on. Looked online and it seems a lot of other people are having the same issue in the rain.

While parked car engine stopped and got a message that said “ Steering Wheel Power Low”. Windshield wipers had been on for a while. Car will not start.

I am experiencing (along with many other customers) software issues related to navigation. Toyota acknowledges the issue, wherein the head unit on the car gives bad gps data when it communicates with the phone via AirPlay. This causes the any navigation system to think that you’re in the wrong location. Symptoms include having the navigation think you’re not on the highway and it rerouting you every time there is an exit. I almost got into a car accident following erroneous routing. While it’s a software issue, (technically, the head unit is not clearing the memory in the onboard computer properly, there’s a memory leak) it makes the car undrivable and we bought it brand new. The most disappointing part is that Toyota says there’s no fix and we just have to live with it. We have 10.5 monitor that displays completely false and dangerous information. That’s like saying I buy an iPhone but my calling function on the phone doesn’t work and Apple saying your stuck with the faulty phone. Given the sophistication of a modern day car, I believe software problems are just as important as faulty brakes or airbags. In fact this issue is dangerous everytime you get in the car. I experienced this issue occurred when I was on the highway when I had no way to stop and could not rely on my navigation. It is so dangerous. It’s reprehensible that Toyota does not have to be held accountable for this. I don’t know what to do with my car. I don’t feel safe driving it. Just to be clear, my phone works on other Toyotas, so not a phone problem. I’ve also tried other phones on my car and all have the same problem. The master technician said he sees this commonly on cars but he has no fix. Toyota will not replace the head unit. They are unable to do anything.

While I'm driving 2024 RAV4 hybrid, driver side door suddenly got opened (it was looselu hanging itself without fully being opened so I immediately grabbed it). As the vehicle was in driving, all doors were locked, and yet the driver side door suddenly got unlocked, and I had to stopped the car. I was lucked I was not on freeway. This could have been a huge accident if it got fully opened. I tried to call Toyota to report this but as this was around 6:05pm, there were closed. Also, Toyota doesn't make it easy to report issues.

Vehicle hood vibrates under both idle and driving speeds. At highway speeds or bumpy roads the vibration / flexing of the hood metal causes sun and light glare (like a strobe light effect) causing visual disturbances making it hard to stay focused on the road. There is no seal above the headlights which allows additional air under the hood - the faster the speed and / or windy conditions , the more the hood flexes and causes reflection to the drivers eyes. The easiest explanation is if the hood safety latch is engaged and you see the mood moving up and down prompting you to stall and see if the hood is loose.

My 2024 Rav 4 showed a power steering level low message on my dash then powered off, after I was sitting in a parking lot for 10 mins in park, windshield wipers had been going that day. Tried restarting - vehicle did restart but seemed to have issues, was shaking slightly, let me drive for about a minute more in the parking lot then had a message showing to park in safe place and power steering level low and vehicle shut off again. Started vehicle about 15 mins later and everything was fine, did not experience issue again that day or next day so far. I feel I have an unreliable vehicle - what if this happened on the highway and my car just shut off in traffic, how dangerous this issue is. Several other complaints online also regarding use of windshield wipers and electrical power steering issues happening in correlation with one another. I took my vehicle to smart Toyota after this happened but no techs were left for day. Manager said power steering is all electrical / no actual fluid. I have appt with my Toyota dealership in town for next week but without the issues on my dashboard any longer (no error message on my dashboard now) I was told they don’t know if they’ll be able to find anything wrong. This is extremely upsetting and I worry about my safety and others that this is happening to. It is a serious concern.

While sitting idle in the parking lot at work, I suddenly got a "engine off steering power low" warning on my vehicle. The check engine and power steering warning lights came on. I could no longer operate the vehicle. When trying to restart the vehicle, it started up but the entire vehicle began shaking and the engine shut off again. I have researched this problem on Toyota and Rav4 forums online, and this problem has been happening to a lot of Rav4 owners. I had the vehicle towed. Toyota claims that everything is fine and they cannot find the cause of the problem. Some owners have reported that water is getting into the engine because of a faulty lower area intake tube. One user said that Toyota specifically told them to make a complaint here so that is what I am going to do as well. I no longer feel safe operating the vehicle and I am in a constant state of worry while I am driving. Other owners have reported near misses/accidents because of this problem. There were no symptoms/messages/warnings before this problem suddenly happened all at once.

1) Connectivity for hands free electronics usage, including but not limited to cellular communication and/or GPS. Vehicle and devices are available for inspection. 2) Routine disconnection by the vehicle causes inability to safely use directions from GPS and/or handsfree communication as mandated by state laws. The disconnection frequently, but not exclusively, happens while using the GPS function in unfamiliar and/or unknown areas. 3) The problem has not been reproduced, but has been confirmed by the dealership. The dealership has additionally confirmed that the manufacturer knows this is an issue but no fix is on the horizon. 4) The vehicle has only been inspected by the dealership. 5) There are no warnings before happens. It may reset itself after turning the car off and on, it may continue connecting and disconnecting, or it will go days without being able to stay connected.

I was traveling on the interstate this morning, driving approx 70mph in 55 degree weather when the sunroof exploded and glass shattered everywhere inside my vehicle. The sunroof was closed at the time, and the interior cover was opened, so the glass was all over me and the inside of the car. There were no other vehicles near me and no evidence of a rock or other debris hitting the car. I have filed a claim with my insurance company however I see online that there are several other cases against Toyota RAV4 vehicles who have experienced the same issue. It was an absolutely terrifying situation and thankfully I didn't hit another car or hurt anyone else in the process.

Unknown I was taking a sharp right turn into a parking spot next to another vehicle. My foot on the brake I was just stopped in the spot and the vehicle lunged forward and ran into a brick wall

- Passenger side rear tire failed - Tire is at dealer and available for inspection - Extremely dangerous situation, tire failed on a section of interstate highway under construction. Only 2 lanes available and they were narrower than normal width. Part of the shoulder was converted to driving lane so almost no shoulder to pull off on. The incident happened on a Sunday afternoon and interstate was extremely busy with weekend traffic. My wife was extremely lucky not to be involved in a serious accident. - Tire has not been inspected by anyone other than the car dealer - If the tire pressure warning light came on it wasn't noticed. There were no symptoms or warnings prior to the failure.

After parking car in driveway, a puddle of fuel is left directly under fuel tank. Girlfriend thought it was ac condensation. I stuck my finger in puddle and smelled the gasoline. Girlfriend is taking car to dealer.

This incident occurred on the morning of [XXX]. I was driving my new, 2024 Toyota RAV4 hybrid on the highway (it has less than 20,000 miles on it). There were no vehicles or other obstacles or road debris of any kind near me. I suddenly heard an incredibly loud, explosive sound. It was like a gunshot or as if a body had fallen on my roof. I then heard the noise of wind. My sunroof had exploded. Fortunately, I had the sunroof and the interior screen closed, so glass did not fall into my car. Once I was able to pull over, I examined the sunroof to find it had shattered and there was no indication of anything falling on or colliding with it. I took two photos and proceeded slowly to the Toyota dealer (Ourisman Toyota in Richmond, Va.) where I purchased the car brand-new/off-the-truck in February 2024. The dealer stated that they would not cover glass, including a spontaneously exploding sunroof on a new car, and so I am required to pay out of pocket. Brand new vehicle recently purchased 9/28/2024 at the Dealership, Toyota of AA, Michigan. While driving at highway speeds greater than 70 mph, the flimsy hood balloons/bubbles up and starts flexing visibly and violently with almost 2 inch amplitude waves and looks like it wants to become unlatched and slam into the windshield. Pretty scary! This is definitely a safety risk that raises the fear in me of a potential serious crash. Vehicle dropped back at the Dealership 10/7/2024 for inspection.

I was pulling into a parking space at work and went to break to park and my car accelerated up a hill. After I released my foot from the break,and tried pumping the break the car eventually decelerated and I was able to come down off the hill to park. I had damage to the passenger corner panel and had to file and insurance claim for repairs. I called the dealership and they said they had not heard of any type of issues with breaks on this model and to file an insurance claim and they would inspect the vehicle for default.

On 3 separate occasions, when pulling out into traffic, the car wrongly senses oncoming traffic as being too close and slams on the brakes once you're out in a lane, preventing acceleration and leaving you stuck and at risk of being hit from oncoming traffic.

I just purchased a 2024 Toyota RAV4 SE Hybrid in March 2024 at Summit Toyota in Akron, Ohio.  On [XXX], the  A/C was not blowing cold air and was making loud noise when turned on.    I made an appointment for the car to get checked.    Our RAV4 has approximately 3200 miles and is used by my wife sparingly around town.   Summit Toyota called me on 8-19-24 and said there was damage to the compressor from “possibly” a rock.   They said it would not be covered under the warranty.  The total cost is around $1.250.00.  We currently have a 2020 Highlander and many other Toyotas before our current ones.  We decided to purchase this RAV4  because we wanted the reliability of a Toyota.   After today’s assessment from Summit Toyota that this was “possibly” caused from a rock then there must be a design flaw in the grate opening size.  This is a safety concern if rocks/road debris can damage components of the vehicle this easily. I am unable to use any GPS system when connected to the Multimedia function via Apple CarPlay. The location of the car on the maps is inaccurate. I could be a few feet to a few miles off. I called Toyota Brand Engagement to report this. Initially I asked if they could give me a complimentary subscription to their "Direct Connect" as suggested by the Toyota Service center at my Dealership. Ihad hopes that this might improve the location services. This was denied. I have taken it to the dealership 3 times in an effort to resolve this. I was told that they have seen this a few times and have replaced the radios in some cars previously with some success. At the last service visit Toyota was contacted by the service center and they were told to NOT replace any more radios and Case #240705001763 was initiated by the Toyota Brand Engagement center concerning MY car. No fix has been supplied yet nor have I received any communication about this. On Friday August 9, I spoke to "resolution specialist" who said she would escalate this as a safety issue. I have not received any communication since (except the post call survey). This is a safety concern as it renders all GPS wayfinding apps inaccurate( Waze, Google maps, Apple maps. This is a huge problem if you are relying on these. I paid almost $50,000 for this car and I expect the GPS to work

I purchased the car 1/31/24 the very next day I experienced a rough idle and the car revving up its own. Toyota was unable to duplicate the problem. In May, I experienced a small leak by driver side pillar A. I was told the vehicle was fixed. In June, I had a leak in the same pillar as well but additional areas were showing a leak. I was told the first leak was from the sunroof. The 2nd leak I was told it was the windshield. The windshield was replaced in July. In August, I am now experiencing a leak again in the same places. Toyota is deeming the care safe and drivable regardless of the fact that the car is still leaking The dealership suggest I trade in the vehicle. Aside from the leak, I’ve dealt with steering/alignment issues which have been looked at twice.

This was a rental car. The center rear seat harness is locked so it cannot be used. Pulling lightly, or with any degree of resistance, will not allow the shoulder strap to be loosed so it can be used. As a result a passenger cannot be seated in the center of the rear bench seat. Also, the cover assembly for the rear cargo area was installed incorrectly so it cannot be pulled out and secured to the slots. It appears this was a dealership prep mistake.

The cover and insulation material around the steering shaft came off and it is interfering with the brake and acceptation pedals. It looks to be a safety risk. TOYOTA claims that it is not cover under warranty, but I am concern if this can eventually cause an accident. Refer to the picture attached.

Car was left inside garage for about 20-24 hrs. Car was locked and turned off with no one in it. Upon going to use the vehicle after this amount of time had passed, it was found the passenger side dash airbag had deployed at some point in time since last parked.

The car self accerated while I was pulling into a parking spot and hit a cement wall. The brake sign came on and I braked. Damage to the front of vehicle and the collision sensor was demolished.

I was pulling into a parking spot in a parking garage. My foot was off the accretor ready to brake and then the car self accelerated and hit the cement wall. The red brake light came on and I slammed on the brake but the damage was done. The front bumper was cracked on the left side and dented on the right side. There whole front end was scraped and scratched. The collision sensor is damaged

I have driven 20 years in USA, where I had observed a debris (dirt/ rock) from road hitting the wind shield and have never had damaged by car wind shield. My new TOYOTA RAV4 xe, wind shield cracked by UN-noticeable debris hitting it. Wind Shield quality has been compromised by TOYOTA. It is so thin and week that it gave way. I lost confidence in Toyota and feel nervous as similar damage may happen in future also. How can you ensure that they recall and install better wind shield. Dealers sell Warranty for the same when we buy new cars, so that Financial impact is taken care by additional 3-4 K. $ warranty sale. But what about Passenger in front if the windshield breaks and cause face / eye injury. The wind shield of RAV4 is too thin for it large area (size). It may be OK for windows and rear, but not OK for front. Do they test the impact test on Wind shield (1/2 cm stone or ice (hail) hitting the wind shield from their vendors? Toyota is not considering this in Manufacturing Warranty. Relying on Toyota's quality, i denied Dealer's warranty, as I am a safe driver (no incidence in my 40 years of driving. As per Toyota's office sent email on the April 17th stating the vehicle is fit and safe after claiming highly on the investigation report and put me again into unsafe vehicle, Unfortunately, again last Sunday Morning [XXX] 2024 Time around 2:45 AM on the highway 10 near Orangeville this happened again when the vehicle was on the speed of 80KM a BIG Red steering wheel with exclamation mark appeared with warning sound and for a few seconds steering lost all its power by putting me and family in a dangerous situation and I had to stop the vehicle and its regain the power to pull over on the safer side. I called emergency roadside assistance of Toyota at 3:15 AM after taking car in near safe place, They said they would need a few hours to reach out me and requested me if you can still drive vehicle can park at home and contact your dealer, I had no choice than driving the vehicle as I was with my wife on the rainy night and dark road, I took this risk to reach home. I informed Toyota after reaching home safely. It's brand new car

I bought a brand new 2024 Toyota Rav4. It was raining heavy, I drove through some deep puddles. I parked at my jobs parking lot, let my car idle for a few minutes, and I received a message on the dash "Engine Stopped. Steering Power Low." I went out 2 hours later, tried again, same message. Waited all day, even called a Tow truck. Right when tow was about to show up, I started the car again, no message, and car was fine. I told dealership, and they told me it was because the engine got water in it. But looking online it's because of a faulty battery or alternator from the factory. Two days later, it happened AGAIN as I was parking. I saw the warning momentarily as I was turning off the car. I turned it back on again, and no message. Please look into this. I fear for everyone who buys a Rav4 from the factory. It seems to be a common occurrence for brand new Rav4, not just a one or two happenstance.

The vehicle simply shutoff while driving. I am told Toyota is aware of the defect related to water intrusion in the air intake. It causes water to intrude into the air filter and map sensor which in turn causes the vehicle to simply shut down.

I'm driving a rental Toyota RAV4. I stopped the car at a curb, pushed the button to turn off the engine, and got out. There was a beeping sound (accessory on beep). I ignored it, as I wanted to quickly check something outside. I started to walk away and someone yelled 'car rolling'. I ran back, couldn't block the heavy car, opened the door and jammed on the foot brakes. Then I noticed the car was still in Drive. With no engine-transmission torque against the wheels. The car is proximity-keyed, but does not require the transmission to be in the Park position, to turn the engine off. This has happened twice in my driveway as well. In retrospect I'm lucky not to have been struck or run over by the car or clipped by the door. -------- Yes I 'should' have put it in park. But every regularly keyed vehicle I have driven won't let me remove the key until it is in Park, and as I said this has happened when I was doing other things in the car in my driveway. Going proximity keyless has dropped the transmission interlock requirement. This is a recipe for disaster.

On the [XXX] I purchased a TOYOTA RAV4 XLE AWB I VIN: [XXX] from Brampton East Toyota, 2 Maritime Ontario Blvd, Brampton, ON L6S 0C2 Canada. Very unfortunately, the vehicle is behaving dangerous to our lives because I've only had it for about 8 days and 300 KM on it on [XXX], I drove about 50 km into the city, while driving the vehicle seemed to start losing power and bucking. Several error symbols flashed including the engine light. I managed to pull mostly off the road but not all the way off. My rear was still on the road. The car was unresponsive. I waited a few seconds then tried to turn off and restart the car. The message "Steering Power Low" came on as well as several warning lights. I turned the car off totally and waited. I tried restarting again. Same bucking and error message. I turned the car off. and reported the issue to Brampton east toyota, they perform some checks and found battery issue and ask me to report if comes again I was promised this issue would not come again, but second time on Friday [XXX] evening this happened again and the car lost all power and slightly hit a road side wall, thanks to the the [XXX] the car was not in speed or on a express highway otherwise Toyota would found 5 dead bodies including a 5 year old child in car. Now with the "Steering Power Low" inow steering is not getting automatically back to the normal position I have to roll it back to normal and behaving really strange and since its in garage and Also The car is driving in the parking mode ON and the reverse camera is also displaying. I really don't feel safe to take the car out on the road, I don't want others to have problem because of my car I have showed all the videos and I would appreciate it if you could organise it before you find us with injuries on a highway or dead. and We look forward to an immediate action settling this matter amicably. Rav 4 will randomly shake and turn off saying engine stopped steering power low.

After driving the vehicle in the rain, pulled into work and the car died. Would not restart, it popped up with power steering low error code. After leaving work car started right up and drove normal. Searching online and a lot of other people are having same issue, causing there cars to die and not restart when they are in traffic. Most people reporting the same issue have had their cars die on them while on the highway in stop and go traffic, which could lead to a wreck. I don’t want this to happen to me or anyone else as I travel a lot with my two small children in the vehicle. Other items to note, almost all the people I found online with same issue have said that it was also raining, with their windshield wipers on and the start stop function turned on. Thank you for looking into this for me and other customers.

Moon roof spontaneously shattered while driving. No impact from any object caused this, no other vehicles around and vehicle was only at 5 MPH at time of shattering. It’s as if the glass just shattered outwards from inside the cabin of the vehicle. Showered driver with glass and could have caused injury especially if glass fell into eyes.

Vehicle exhibits a squeal/squeak noise from the front brakes with light to moderate braking while driving at low speed.

None of the doors has puddle/ courtesy lights which can cause hazard situation when doors need to open in dark environment. Those lights when available alerts oncoming vehicles pedestrians or cyclists. Oncoming vehicles cyclists at danger of poor visibility if the doors open. There use to be lights on all 4 doors few years ago on any motor vehicle. Then certain manufacturers made them available only on front doors. Now they are all gone from all doors at least in the car I have. In my opinion this should be a safety requirement. Kindly evaluate and see if what I mention make sense. It was a simple technology which may have prevent certain hazardous situation.

1 - there is no hatch release button on the remote or inside the vehicle 2 - there is no tune knob on the radio. Dangerous when using the touch screen to change channels while driving 3 - the door handles are close to the door hinges. Extremely hard to carefully open and also have to pull very hard to close doors. There is no grip in the door armrests. 4 - gearshift should be on the left side of console, not the right 5 - no ability to customize what you want displayed on the touchscreen, ie mpg, direction, temperature, date, time, channel, etc. It’s all or nothing. 6 - trip info doesn’t display current mpg compared to trip mpg 7 - passenger seat has pocket on back, but driver’s seat does not

The drivers side mirror is distorted like if you have on a pair of glasses that are stronger than they actually are. It makes my eyes go cross-eyed everytime I look into that mirror & it's going to cause me to get into an accident if it's not addressed. I already went to the dealership & the service consultant said he could see what I was talking about but the service technician said he saw nothing wrong with it. I am also have an issue with the alignment. It was off when I brought it in for my inspection sticker & had them look at it & they said it was slightly off so they adjusted it but here it is 3 days later & my alignment is off once again. I contacted the person that sold me the car & a service manager is suppose to be getting in touch with me. That's also what they said last week when I first mentioned the issues to them but I never got a phone call. So we shall see.
