Critical Deferred Risk
Critical deferred failure risk — 3 safety-critical or high-cost components are past their service interval. Without immediate attention, repair costs will compound significantly.
No odometer data on record. Mileage is estimated at ~96,000 mi based on average annual driving. Items marked EST. OVERDUE may already be due — verify service history with the seller. Items marked OVERDUE are confirmed past-due based on vehicle age alone.
DUE SOONCriticalTiming Chain Tensioner
Service interval: 120,000 mi · Est. ~96,000 mi (no odometer on record)
Schedule Timing Chain Tensioner service before 120,000 mi
Worn chain tensioners cause timing chain skip or snap — common on GM 5.3L/6.2L, Ford EcoBoost, VW/Audi EA888, BMW N47/N63. Listen for cold-start rattles.
EST. OVERDUECriticalWater Pump
Service interval: 8 yr · Vehicle age: 8 yr · Past due by age
Service Water Pump immediately — already past the 100,000 mi / 8 yr interval
Water pump failure causes rapid overheating. If the engine overheats even once, head gasket damage is likely — turning a $400 part into a $3,000+ repair.
EST. OVERDUEHighTransmission Fluid / Service
Service interval: 5 yr · Vehicle age: 8 yr · Past due by age
Service Transmission Fluid / Service immediately — already past the 60,000 mi / 5 yr interval
Degraded transmission fluid destroys clutch packs and solenoids. CVT transmissions are especially sensitive — neglected fluid can result in a $4,000–$8,000 replacement.
EST. OVERDUEHighCoolant Flush
Service interval: 5 yr · Vehicle age: 8 yr · Past due by age
Service Coolant Flush immediately — already past the 100,000 mi / 5 yr interval
Degraded coolant loses corrosion inhibitors and attacks aluminum engine components. Can cause head gasket failure and water pump corrosion.
EST. OVERDUEModerateSpark Plugs (iridium/platinum)
Service interval: 8 yr · Vehicle age: 8 yr · Past due by age
Service Spark Plugs (iridium/platinum) immediately — already past the 100,000 mi / 8 yr interval
Worn spark plugs cause misfires that can foul and crack catalytic converters. A $150 tune-up can prevent a $1,200 catalytic converter replacement.
DUE SOONModerateFuel Injectors
Service interval: 120,000 mi · Est. ~96,000 mi (no odometer on record)
Schedule Fuel Injectors service before 120,000 mi
Dirty or failing injectors cause rough idle, reduced fuel economy, and increased emissions. Cleaning costs $100–$200; replacement $800–$1,600.
CASCADECriticalFailure Cascade
Cascade already triggered — downstream damage likely in progress
Have a specialist inspect all systems connected to the failed component before purchase
One failed component has created stress on connected systems. Repair costs compound quickly — a $500 fix can become $3,000+ if cascade damage is ignored.

The contact owns a 2018 Dodge Charger. The contact stated that while driving at slow speeds, there was an abnormal, repetitive thud sound coming from the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the wheel bearings were replaced; however, after the repair, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the mechanic, where a diagnostic test was performed, and it was determined that the driveshaft needed to be replaced. The contact purchased the driveshaft and had the part replaced by the mechanic. Despite the repair, the failure returned after exiting the highway. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V281000 (Power Train) and associated the failure with the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and the contact was informed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

I have had to replace the vapor canister on 2 dodge chargers I have owned seems to be a common issue. Check engine light came on both instances one causing issues with inspection the other with emissions test and I had to replace the vapor canister on both in order to fix my issues delayed the process in getting my vehicle registered by the state. Seems there was a previous recall on the issue but has since lapsed the time period to have fixed with reimbursement had the issue checked by an auto services establishment and family member to confirm my issues and then repaired issues each time with a family member. I have also had several issues with the key fob the initial one I received the key itself was never cut for my vehicle so would not unlock my car had to have someone cut the key to access my doors, also the fob itself stopped working I had to pay to get replaced which stopped working several days later and they had issues when programming the key it had flagged issues in their systems giving issues programming since I still have not been able to have an operating key fob.

The UConnect functions will not work and randomly initiates functions so it changes stations, adjusts heating/cooling, asks if I want to contact 911, etc. This is very distracting and unsafe. Most of these functions on the Uconnect inaccessible. The car began having intermittent problems in 2021 just after the "Warranty" expired. The dealer said it would cost about $2,200 to replace and Chrysler will not take responsibility. I see this issue is very common amongst other dodge owners. I am surprised there has not been a recall since it appears to be a common problem and it is unsafe. Been driving it over the past 2-3 years and it is totally non operable. I was hoping it would eventually be recalled. I keep same radio station on every tab so when it skips around, it at least stays on the same station. Only thing that works. If not recalled, Stellantis should at least bear some of the cost (not to make a profit) to assist in the replacement

My safety & the safety of others was at great risk while driving my 2018 dodge charger sxt. While driving my dashboard lights went completely dark and the steering wheel locked. I was unable to move out of lanes threatening my life and the life of others around me. Independent mechanic put scanner in my car days later and code that appeared was “U0100 Lost Communication With ECM/PCM” I looked up my vin # on mopar.com and noticed my vehicle did have a “Important Safety Recall: Reprogram Powertrain Control Modulel”

ODI #11614479ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

The Uconnect screen in my 2018 Dodge Charger SXT Plus began to delaminate, leading to unresponsiveness and phantom touches on the screen. This created a distraction while driving and impacted the use of essential vehicle controls, such as navigation, climate settings, and the backup camera was completely non-functioning. At the dealer I was initially quoted a price over $2,000 and I know from researching the internet many many many others have had this issue. I contacted both Chrysler and a local dealership. The dealership at my 2nd visit replaced the screen for free under a goodwill repair, and Chrysler also contacted me later promised to get the issue resolved if the dealership could not help me. I am reporting this issue because it is a significant defect that could affect the safety and functionality of the vehicle.

ODI #11614487STRUCTURE

I experienced an issue with the trunk lights on my 2018 Dodge Charger SXT Plus, which would not illuminate when the trunk was open. Additionally, the dashboard display failed to indicate that the trunk was open. This posed a significant safety concern, as the car allowed me to drive without alerting me that the trunk was open. Normally, when the trunk is ajar, the vehicle displays a notification and prevents the car from being driven without addressing the open trunk. However, with the broken latch, no such alert occurred, and the car could be driven with the trunk accidentally left open. Furthermore, the remote start feature, which typically only works when all doors (including the trunk) are closed, was compromised. The car could be remotely started via the keyfob regardless of whether the trunk was open or closed. This is a serious safety concern, as the vehicle could be driven or left running with the trunk open without the driver’s knowledge. This repair cost $301 to fix. Repair Details: Date of Repair: January 17, 2023 Description of repair from dealership: Trunk lights and dashboard indicator were non-functional, and no alert was provided when the trunk was left open. The latch was internally shorted, causing the malfunction. After the latch was replaced, the lights and notifications worked correctly, and the vehicle's safety functions returned to normal.

The Uconnect system in my vehicle has been delaminating and has been causing several issues in my vehicle where the Blindspot detectors are not working properly and the back up camera is not working properly to notify me and alert me with whistles and chimes if a vehicle is driving behind me while I’m backing up or if a pedestrian is on my Blindspot crossing near my car. The Uconnect system in my vehicle is also causing issues where it is ghost touching and glitching my screen and clicking buttons I’m not clicking. Example trying to change the clock when I’m not clicking anything and when navigation is in, use the system clicks out of maps and starts clicking FM radio. It starts to change stations and put people on hold when I’m on voice connect over the vehicle. It will put someone on mute by itself mostly the fact that the camera is not functioning due to the Uconnect being connected with the vehicle and causing it to malfunction. I’m worried it will start to click on other settings in the vehicle. There are many reports with Dodge Jeep, Chrysler, and ram on all forums about this issue. I’ve notified the Dodge dealership and Uconnect and all the want to do is have me pay out of pocket for a new system that is $2000 not including labor . The uconnect system should be recalled from all vehicles from 2018-2023 .

They are melting in place causing non contact. I have never seen a fuse melt and not blow. Potential dangerous situation especially if you have the owners replacing with a higher rated fuse then what is called for. Lighting: When vehicle was purchased i noticed condensation in both head lights got 1 replaced per warranty, they would not do both at same time and within 1 month moisture was in replaced headlight again. The electric steering rack failed. I was turning into a parking lot and suddenly there was no power steering. Luckily I had both hands on the wheel and was able to avoid an accident. A dash light came on at that time related to steering. My mechanic was able to pull the code. I was able to drive home. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? I have the EPS unit right now - but it is a Core and I have 14 days to return. Please let me know ASAP if you want me to keep it. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Sudden loss of power steering without advanced notice. Old cars with power steering often make a "noise" prior to failure. Electric Power Steering like on my car doesn't provide advanced notice of issues. Also, failures of power steering at 57K miles are rare. But Dodge (Chrysler) have had prior NHTSA issues and recalls prior with EPS. Also, it seems like this may be a common issue - as there are almost no new parts available, no reman/aftermarket parts, and very difficult to find used. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No - out of warranty Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Nothing prior - but warning light after EPS failure.

The screen can no longer be controlled to use hands free phone which is critical for my job and soon to be a new law in Michigan. Radio "ghost dials" different stations. Cannot control the climate control etc. Car is out of warranty, but I believe should be repaired at no cost because I have read many complaints about the same problem. I also saw websites like Top Class Actions and ClassAction.org that were inquiring information about similar issues on several Chrysler products from I believe 2017 - 2020? This does become a safety issue and wanted you to be aware of this. Our problem started in early 2022 and has continued to get worse.

The control touch screen has delaminated. The radio and the vehicle operation functions will not work most of the time. The screen is also apparently sensing input and randomly initiates functions so it beeps, changes stations, adjusts heating/cooling, etc. This is very distracting and I'm concerned that at some point all of these functions will become inaccessible. The car has 5,000 miles, is barely over 3 years old and neither the dealership nor Chrysler will take responsibility. I see this issue is very common. The cost of the radio is over $2,000 and Chrysler will not confirm if the replacement is the same version that came with the car - if so, should I expect to pay another $2,000 in 3 years?!?

The screen cover separates from the touch screen on the radio. This makes the radio not function but more importantly other vehicle operational features are inaccessible. Apparently the screen feels random touches so even when I power it down it turns itself back on constantly beeping changinging stations, adjusting the heating/cooling controls, the clock etc. This is very distracting to a driver and I did nothing unusual to this device. I contacted the dealership and just the screen alone is over $1000. Before I pay this I wonder if anyone else has had similar issues or if its been previously addressed.

Experiencing delamination of UConnect touchscreen on my 18 Dodge Charger. This is causing a bubble to form under the screen. This causes “ ghost touches” to the screen. This causes quite a bit of distraction while driving as the the system will register touches on its own and go into the various controls that are controlled through the touch screen such and radio, hands free calling, navigation and the various performance “tunes”, traction controls and other performance monitors that are controlled through the touch screen. Through my research I see that this is a common issue that affects Dodge, Jeep, Chrysler vehicles. Dodge has advised me that they will not repair this issue outside of the 3 year warranty. Another issue I have found in my research is that as the gel that is between the screen and monitor delaminates it’s oozes out the bottom of the screen potentially affecting or damaging other electronic components below it.

Hello, I am not sure if this is the correct place to report the issues that are plaguing 2014 and up Dodge Charger and challenger owners. The door panels and center counsel on our cars are coming apart it is a manufacturing defect that exposes the electronic systems on our doors including the locking mechanisms and window regulators to moisture and heat. This is the second time this has occurred the first time my car was under warranty now it is not and Dodge does not want to repair the panels they said because there is not a recall on it they do not have to even though it is a widespread issue. Thank you for your time. Thank you,

I have a Dodge 2018 Charger, recently I am seeing the Uconnect touchsceen began delaminating and the buttons are being ghost pushed randomly, Sometime the clock setting pops up and suddenly the volume goes to 100% and sometimes it randomly does SOS dial or dial's someone else, this is a safety hazard on driver's attention as when you are driving down a freeway it freaks you out if the volume suddenly rises to 100% for the music or it randomly dials something when you are on a emergency call maybe and wont let you talk while on 911 call, Clearly this issue is seen on all models after 2017 (Details can be found on the internet). A lot of accident's can happen because of this as the driver is taken in awe by suden changes in the cabin.

The touch screen will intermittently ask me if I want to change the clock settings and beep. It will keep beeping until I select the X on the touchscreen. Then when I touch the X the same message will pop up again and the beeping will continue. It will continue doing this until I shut the car off and then may or may not be present again when I start the car back up. It is random when this issue starts. Sometimes right when I start the car up and sometimes when I am already traveling down the highway. This is very distracting while I am trying to drive since it is beeping and I have to keep taking my eyes off the road to get rid of it. The screen is also useless for navigation or anything else while this is going on. It happens on a fairly consistent basis (about every other time I drive the car. Dodge seems uninterested in helping with the issue unless I pay thousands to get the radio replaced.

The screen in my 2018 charger is melting. At first it just started to delaminate, a very common issue I wasn’t worried about. But now the screen becomes very hot to the touch, to the point where you wouldn’t want to keep your hand on it very long. Just recently and why I’m making this report is because there are now what appear to be visible drips inside the screen that look as though something is now actually melting. I believe this is a safety concern because this seems like a fire hazard if this continues to heat up and melt.

ODI #11469445FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

I am tasked with maintaining a fleet of Dodge Charger police vehicles. I have a constant and concerning problem that needs to be addressed. On nearly all of the vehicles in service, the fuel pumps crack and leak raw fuel onto the ground, hot exhaust. aside from the toxic fumes trapped in the vehicle, this presents a MAJOR safety issue as the raw fuel could be ignited by the exhaust system. I have video of raw fuel leaking onto the ground after filling the fuel tank. When posted on social media, followers complained that their vehicles also did this with as little as 30k miles. Dodge has yet to address this issue and if the warranty is expired, they charge full amount to replace the fuel pump.

Video display began prompting me to set my clock settings (Daylight Savings time). This occurred WHILE I WAS DRIVING! Pressing any or all buttons had no effect. I had to turn the radio off, which meant I could no longer take hands free phone calls. This is a serious safety issue. I have found forums where this issue has been discussed. See https://www.jeepgarage.org/threads/uconnect-issues.229602/#post-2021329920. Now, my key fobs are acting up. Perhaps releated? Could not start my car or unlock remotely. When I used the key, the panic alarm began going off. I could only turn it off by using my second key fob, which is also acting up. I've had issues with the back-up camera not turning on as well. Or the radio not working. There is major issues with the electrical/display panel on these cars and trucks! It seems intermitant, but the clock display issue has been pretty consistent, though off and on. I have a video of the issue if you want it. I will attach an image.

I viewed the recalls and it’s still having the same issues like it’s never been fixed, first off when I start the car it has a foul gas odor and the dealership said it was okay but I’m more than positive it’s an exhaust leak, also when I first got the car the heated seats wouldn’t turn off because of the radio malfunction I’ve actually took it to where I bought the car(John Gibson Autosales) to get it fixed but all they did was inserted a new radio screen for me and it made my problems even worse I asked them to fix it and they said I’d have to pay for any other work they did in the car.. It’s having multiple electrical issues and in my opinion I don’t believe the car is safe to drive at all with the heated seats turning on by themselves and having no control over it.

2018 Dodge Charger R/T uConnect system has a well-documented history of delaminating causing a series of hazardous conditions. The screen will jump from menu item to menu item, from one control to another, will disconnect phone calls, will prevent phone calls from being made, will exit out of navigation screens while driving, will distract drivers with constant beeping at loud volumes, will cause backup camera systems to cease functioning, will prevent users being able to access security features, and will generally have a negative impact on the mental state of drivers while driving down the road. These are dangerous conditions and the product should be recalled regardless of warranty status. 2018 Dodge Charger with only 6900 miles. Issue began in fall 2020 at about 6700 miles, shortly after the 3 year bumper to bumper warranty ended. U-CONNECT 8.4 System malfunctions as often as twice per second and perhaps 30 times per minute, causing unsafe distractions (multiple beeps) and possibly more. Sometimes it is the radio switching channels, with an annoying beep each time. Sometimes it is a clock setting display which pops up with a beep asking "Do you want to change clock settings?" When these thing happen, other electronics act up - map and navigation goes crazy, phone bluetooth interface goes crazy. When U-Connect is acting up badly, the rearview backup camera sometimes does not work when transmission is shifted into reverse. The U-Connect can be used to adjust drive-train performance thus representing the possibility of an additional safety hazard. Disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it seems to reset it but only helps for a little while; from 1 minute to a day before it starts acting crazy again.

SLOWING TO A COMPLETE STOP AND ACCELERATING IT WOULD LOOSE RPM THEN GO UP THEN IT HARD SHIFT UP UNTIL THE 4 GEAR. PUTTING IN REVERSE IT WOULD MAKE A ROCKING NOISE UNDER THE HOOD. TO STOP IT I WOULD HAVE TO PUT IT IN PARK. THIS HAPPENED 4 TIMES. I BROUGHT IT UP TO MECHANICS THEY COULD NOT FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM. *TR

DODGE CHRYSLER (AND OTHER AUTO MANUFACTURERS) HAVE SOYBASED WIRING INSTALLED IN THE NEWER CARS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS THE SOYBEAN BASED COVERING ON THE WIRES IS ALSO A RODENT ATTRACTANT MEANING RODENTS ARE EATING THE WIRING THAT CONNECTS THE ABS BRAKE SYSTEM, FUEL PRESSURE SYSTEM AND OTHER SENSITIVE SYSTEMS. WE WERE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH AND SLOWING DOWN TO MAKE A RIGHT HAND TURN TOWARDS OUR HOUSE, OUR SUNROOF EXPLODED FROM THE INSIDE OUT. THERE WAS NO IMPACT OF ANY KIND. I WASN'T SURE WHAT HAPPENED EXACTLY, BUT WE PULLED OVER TO CHECK WHAT MIGHT HAVE HIT US. THERE WAS NOTHING THAT WOULD INDICATE AN IMPACT OF ANY KIND, YET THE SUNROOF WAS SHATTERED AND BOWED UPWARDS INSTEAD OF DOWN TOWARDS THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE WHICH WOULD BE MORE INDICATIVE OF SOME KIND OF IMPACT TO THE SUNROOF. IT ALMOST LOOKED LIKE A BLOW OUT FROM INSIDE OUT LIKE PRESSURE HAD CAUSED IT. WE CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP TO TELL THEM WHAT HAPPENED (THIS CAR IS BRAND NEW, IT WAS BOUGHT ON 5/13/18), THEY ARE TELLING US IT HAD TO BE AN IMPACT. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE DISINGENUOUS. I HAVE NO REASON TO LIE ABOUT THIS INCIDENT. I WAS THE PASSENGER IN THE CAR AND I WAS PAYING ATTENTION WHEN IT HAPPENED. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A SAFETY RISK FOR DRIVERS. IF WE HAD NOT HAD THE SLIDER BELOW THE SUNROOF CLOSED, BROKEN GLASS WOULD HAVE RAINED DOWN INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND POTENTIALLY DISTRACTED MY WIFE AND CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. JUST THE SOUND OF THE SUNROOF POPPING WAS EXTREMELY LOUD AND CAUSED A LOT OF IMMEDIATE CONFUSION. I HAVE SEEN SIMILAR STORIES ONLINE ABOUT EXPLODING SUNROOFS, AND I BELIEVE IT TO BE A LEGITIMATE SAFETY CONCERN.
