Critical Deferred Risk
Critical deferred failure risk — 4 safety-critical or high-cost components are past their service interval. Without immediate attention, repair costs will compound significantly.
No odometer data on record. Mileage is estimated at ~120,000 mi based on average annual driving. Items marked EST. OVERDUE may already be due — verify service history with the seller. Items marked OVERDUE are confirmed past-due based on vehicle age alone.
EST. OVERDUECriticalTiming Chain Tensioner
Service interval: 10 yr · Vehicle age: 10 yr · Past due by age
Service Timing Chain Tensioner immediately — already past the 120,000 mi / 10 yr interval
Worn chain tensioners cause timing chain skip or snap — common on GM 5.3L/6.2L, Ford EcoBoost, VW/Audi EA888, BMW N47/N63. Listen for cold-start rattles.
EST. OVERDUECriticalWater Pump
Service interval: 8 yr · Vehicle age: 10 yr · Past due by age
Service Water Pump immediately — already past the 100,000 mi / 8 yr interval
Water pump failure causes rapid overheating. If the engine overheats even once, head gasket damage is likely — turning a $400 part into a $3,000+ repair.
EST. OVERDUEHighTransmission Fluid / Service
Service interval: 5 yr · Vehicle age: 10 yr · Past due by age
Service Transmission Fluid / Service immediately — already past the 60,000 mi / 5 yr interval
Degraded transmission fluid destroys clutch packs and solenoids. CVT transmissions are especially sensitive — neglected fluid can result in a $4,000–$8,000 replacement.
EST. OVERDUEHighCoolant Flush
Service interval: 5 yr · Vehicle age: 10 yr · Past due by age
Service Coolant Flush immediately — already past the 100,000 mi / 5 yr interval
Degraded coolant loses corrosion inhibitors and attacks aluminum engine components. Can cause head gasket failure and water pump corrosion.
EST. OVERDUEModerateSpark Plugs (iridium/platinum)
Service interval: 8 yr · Vehicle age: 10 yr · Past due by age
Service Spark Plugs (iridium/platinum) immediately — already past the 100,000 mi / 8 yr interval
Worn spark plugs cause misfires that can foul and crack catalytic converters. A $150 tune-up can prevent a $1,200 catalytic converter replacement.
EST. OVERDUEModerateFuel Injectors
Service interval: 10 yr · Vehicle age: 10 yr · Past due by age
Service Fuel Injectors immediately — already past the 120,000 mi / 10 yr interval
Dirty or failing injectors cause rough idle, reduced fuel economy, and increased emissions. Cleaning costs $100–$200; replacement $800–$1,600.

Have been having power steering problems over the past few years. Started by displaying a shift to park message while driving, my car would then lose power and shut down completely and power steering would lock up. Have taken to dealerships and independent mechanics and was told it was the wiring harness which they repaired several times and the car continued to have the issue. Approximately 3 months ago I was driving 55mph on highway when suddenly without any warning, the power steering failed and locked up making it very difficult to turn the wheel to get the vehicle off the highway safely. The power steering locking up put myself, my passengers and other drivers at risk bc I had no control over the steering. When I got the vehicle off of the highway a message repeatedly coming on and off saying “service power steering “ and another message saying power steering assist off service system. I was able to get the vehicle home, however the steering was extremely difficult especially in turns which is a major safety concern increasing a risk of an accident. I have done a lot of research about this issue and have found that there are numerous others with the same issue and same make/model as my 2016 Chrysler 300 C. I took the vehicle to another independent mechanic and they told me they couldn’t figure out what is wrong with it. I made another appointment with another mechanic and when I attempted to drive it “manually” as I had to do when it initially started doing this, the electric power steering has now completely locked up and the wheel is not functional at all and power steering has completely failed. This is not only a huge inconvenience but a serious safety hazard and should be investigated by the manufacturer.

The contact's son owns a 2016 Chrysler 300. The contact stated that the horn was inoperable. Additionally, the contact stated while her son was driving 60-65 MPH, the vehicle lost power steering functionality inadvertently. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the driver was able to veer to the side of the road. The contact stated that the driver turned off and restarted the vehicle, and the power steering became functional. The contact stated that the driver was able to drive to the residence. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the failure could not be duplicated, and the contact was referred to the dealer. The dealer was contacted, and an appointment was scheduled for a diagnostic test. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 31,000.

Main Fuel Pump and accompanied electrical connect. The fuel pump and electrical wiring harness is available upon request. My safety was at risk due to a faulty electrical connection inside the fuel tank. My vehicle made a loud hmming sound at a stop sign, upon continuing forward the vehicle shut off randomly. Upon inspection, the fuel was not sending to the engine. We bought a new fuel pump and replaced at the side of the road. When inspecting the OEM fuel pump and accompanied electrical connection, we noticed over heated wiring and melts plastic inside the fuel tank on the underside of the fuel pump, as well as burnt connections on the outside of the fuel tank on the tip side of the fuel pump. We have pictures to support. No warning signs, signals, or lights were present at the time of failure. When purchasing new fuel pump, there were no instructions for replacement of electrical connections. The only indication we found as to what was happening was through public forums online, showing the electrical wiring was faulty and needed replacing with the alternative wiring harness due to wiring (hot wire, b+) being located too close to the grounding wiring causing it to burn amd/or arch creating a problem with which could cause fire and explosion. No information was readily available nor have we received any information on potential catastrophic injury or failure.

My door panels are peeling away from the area where the trim and window meet on my driver side and passenger. Upon research, I've discovered this is an issue going back ever since 2014 with Chrysler and Dodge vehicles Upon further research, this issue can lead to issues with side air bags not being able to possibly be deployed (I have not experienced this),driver & passenger window being affected by heating and cooling of the AC (I've experienced this with my windows not being able to adequately defrost fast enough, as well as my windshield), and issues with the doors automatic locks not locking. Hundreds of thousands of Chrysler & Dodge owners have experienced this and evidence can be found online, especially in forums - in particular Mopar Forums and Reddit. My vehicle hasn't been inspected by Police, Insurance, Manufacturer in particular to this issue, as I've discovered there's nothing can be done since I'm out of warranty and refuse to pay for this. No warning lamps of that nature have illuminated. This has been an issue since late 2018, early 2019 for me. I've owned my vehicle since May 2018.

THE SMELL WAS ALSO SUPER STRONG OUT SIDE OF THE REAR AND SIDES OF THE CAR TO THE POINT OF FEAR OF SOMEONE WALKING BY AND DROPPING A CIGAR AND BLOWING UP FROM THE FUMES. THE SMELL WAS THERE WHILE SITTING AND MOVING. THE DEALER ADVISED ME NOT TO ADD MORE THAN 1/8 OF A TANK OF GAS FROM EMPTY OR THE FUEL WOULD ESCAPE FROM THE CRACK OR HOLE AND CAUSE THE CANCEROUS SMELL. THE TECH AT THE DEALER REPORTED THAT THE FUEL WAS LEAKING AT THE FILLER CONNECTOR.

AFTER A RECALL WAS PERFORMED ON 6/11/19 (U08) CAR STARTED SKIPPING SPORADICALLY UPON ACCELERATION. THIS LEAD TO IT STALLING ALTOGETHER SPORADICALLY UPON ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. THE DEALER (AUTONATION CHRYSLER JEEP PEMBROKE PINES) HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM AFTER 3 WEEKS AND, BECAUSE IT DOES NOT SHOW UP IN THE COMPUTER, THE DEALER SAYS IT'S LIKE IT HASN'T HAPPENED. THEY HAVE NO IDEA OF HOW TO REPAIR MY CAR. IT IS STILL AT THE DEALER. I HAVE SHOWN THEM A PHOTO OF THE ERROR MESSAGE ON MY DASHBOARD: SHIFT TO P THEN DESIRED GEAR, AND A VIDEO OF THE GEARSHIFT BLINKING IN DRIVE POSITION. THE ONLY WAY THE CAR WILL MOVE WHEN THIS HAPPENS IS AFTER I PLACE THE CAR IN PARK AND THEN BACK IN DRIVE. THIS IS VERY HAZARDOUS AS I AM IN TRAFFIC WHEN THIS HAPPENS AT A STOP SIGN OR STOP LIGHT (ESPECIALLY IN LEFT TURN LANE). I DO NOT DRIVE ON THE EXPRESSWAY BECAUSE OF A FEAR OF HAVING TO STOP ALL OF A SUDDEN, AND THE CAR STALLING. I HAVE ALREADY EXPERIENCED IT SKIPPING WHILE ON THE EXPRESSWAY, WHICH WAS SCARY. THE DEALER SAID THEY HAD SENT A STARCASE TO CHRYSLER TO ASSIST IN THE REPAIR, BUT WHEN I CONTACTED CHRYSLER, THEY SAID NO STARCASE HAS BEEN FILED. EVEN IF THE DEALER IS ABLE TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM, THERE WILL BE NO RECORD OF IT IN THE COMPUTER. I BELIEVE THE COMPUTER PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE ADDRESS, AS WELL AS THE STALLING HAZARD.

THE PROBLEM WASN'T TOO BAD AT FIRST, BUT THEN GOT EXTREMELY BAD AS OF 08/07/2019. STEERING WAS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE, AND THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD GET STUCK N ALMOST EVERY TURN, MAKING DRIVING ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE, AND VERY DANGEROUS. AS OF 08/09/2019, THE STEERING WHEEL IS ALMOST CONSTANTLY STUCK, AND REQUIRES EXTREME FORCE, OR SLAMMING ON THE BRAKES TO TURN OR CHANGE DIRECTIONS AT ALL. EVEN SLIGHT TURNS ARE DIFFICULT AND DANGEROUS. THE CAR IS NOW COMPLETELY UNSAFE TO DRIVE, AND HAS SWERVED OFF THE ROAD SEVERAL TIMES, AND EVEN SCRAPED A DIVIDER BECAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED INTO PLACE AND COULDN'T BE CORRECTED. THESE WERE ALL WHILE DRIVING, DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, STEERING WAS SLIGHTLY EASIER. BUT THAT IS WHERE THE CRASH WITH THE DIVIDER HAPPENED. DRIVING ON CITY STREETS WAS MORE DIFFICULT BECAUSE THERE ARE MORE TURNS AND THEY ARE SHARPER. THIS IS NOW COMPLETELY IMPOSSIBLE. WHEN THE CAR IS STATIONARY, OR IN PARK, THE STEERING WHEEL IS LOCKED IN PLACE AND CAN'T BE TURNED.

The blue line shows 74 total NHTSA complaints filed over 10 years, with the worst year being 2020 (14 complaints).

The amber reliability line shows an improving trend — scores have risen from the earlier years toward 67/100 more recently, suggesting the most serious issues are older and may have been addressed through repairs or recalls.

The recall (red dashed line) followed the first complaints by 2 years — a typical response window; neither unusually fast nor a pattern of denial.

Red dots on the amber line flag 4 years (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019) where complaints included crash events — these are the highest-severity incidents in the dataset.
