I live in Lake Charles Louisiana. I have a 2016 Tahoe LTZ my transmission went out .

I purchased a 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe on March 8, 2026, in [XXX] . After the sale, I discovered that the vehicle has serious undisclosed safety defects, including evidence that the airbag (Supplemental Restraint System) had previously deployed and was not properly repaired or restored to working condition, and were actually cut and removed from the vehicle and glued and covered up. This defect was not disclosed prior to purchase and represents a significant safety hazard. It is available for inspection. This put my safety and others at risk because if I had not noticed that the airbag system was not working and was removed and if I had been in a wreck who knows the injuries that me or somebody else could have sustained. The problem has not been confirmed or reproduced by anybody other than me I have physical documentation pictures and diagnostic reports showing the issue. The vehicle has not been inspected by police manufacturer or insurance as of yet but will be completed in the very near future. There was an airbag warning light on on the dash of the vehicle when I purchased it my assumption that it was just an error or a warning since I knew that the vehicle had been in a minor incident but I would’ve never thought that all of the airbags would’ve been cut out and hidden in the vehicle. Through my own investigation, I also located what appears to be the seller’s Facebook Marketplace account, where he has dozens of vehicles listed under a personal profile. This suggests he may be operating as an unlicensed vehicle dealer (curbstoning) and potentially selling multiple vehicles with undisclosed defects. I have attempted to resolve this matter directly by sending a formal demand letter and allowing time for response, but the seller has failed to respond or offer any resolution and has ceased communication. I have documentation and evidence including photos, videos, messages, and screenshots of vehicle listings that support these claims. Hello, I has problems driving my car like by brakes braking out of nowhere. There was even a couple times I felt like the car swerved, even though I did not do anything to the steering wheel. Then I found out I had a recall that said not to drive the car because it was dangerous so I parked it in my driveway and I have not driven it for many months as I’ve been getting rental cars. Eventually, I brought it into Antelope Valley Chevrolet and they told me they were going to fix it but then they actually told me that I had to pay around $1000 for a part that I found out later only cost under $100 and takes three minutes to put in. This is apart from Chevrolet and not some knock off from China that I found for under $100 online. So I’m a little upset that I came in for a recall and they’re trying to get me to do a repair for almost $2000. They never even offered me a rental car and they’re threatening me saying that if we don’t move forward with it, they’re gonna charge me $50 a day for storage. I feel like they’re intimidating me to try to make me traded in for a new one, but I am not ready to get a new one. I just want to get my car on the road again.

Vehicle: 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe Mileage at failure: 96,700 miles Component: Powertrain – Transmission While driving on the highway returning home from Columbus, OH, my 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe experienced a sudden transmission failure without any warning. We were traveling in the third lane at approximately 70–74 mph when the vehicle abruptly lost power and rapidly slowed down to approximately 15–25 mph. This occurred in active traffic and created an immediate and severe safety hazard. The sudden loss of speed nearly caused a collision with surrounding vehicles traveling at highway speeds. There were five occupants in the vehicle, including three children. Due to traffic conditions, other drivers were braking, honking, and swerving. I was only able to avoid a crash by immediately maneuvering across lanes to reach the shoulder. The vehicle was disabled and had to be towed. The transmission required full replacement. Total repair cost exceeded $6,000, and the vehicle was out of service for approximately two weeks. I am submitting the repair receipt from the transmission shop with this complaint. After the failure, I learned that sudden transmission failure is a commonly reported issue with Chevrolet vehicles, including the Tahoe. This failure occurred without warning and represents a serious safety defect that put my family and other motorists at risk.

At first it started with my brakes. I was at DQ and all of a sudden the brake peddle was hard and would barely go down. I then put my car in park. Now I have all new brakes, rotors, etc. Then now the car after 139,000 miles and only owning it for 3 years has this hesitation to go. It stumbles and once would go at all. I had to park right where I was, and restart the car. I have 5 kids, one at which is always with me whom is only 3 years old. This vehicle is not safe. Why it it that so many of us are having the same issue, but no recall has been done? I go this weekend to take the car in. Praying for some sort of miracle. And no other warning signs. Just starting acting crazy. Lights just came on this week.

At 155,000 miles transmission shudders and slips gears. Torque, converter went out and started slipping more and whining and making a grinding sound. Transmission had to be completely rebuilt, with all six clutches, and a brand new torque converter had to be installed.

The contact had to pay out of pocket for the repairs. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and advised the contact that the recall had been previously repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 102,000.

TSB states "thermal cycling creates a crack that may allow refrigerant to escape." Safety Risk: AC system failure after sun exposure creates dangerous interior temperatures lasting 30-45 minutes with family including two teenagers in 95°F+ NC summer heat. Risk of heat exhaustion/stroke during highway travel where immediate stopping impossible. Dealer Confirmation: Hendrick Chevrolet diagnosed refrigerant leak from upper left condenser on 7/22/25 (Invoice CTCS913252, $1,904.60). Official work order documents identical symptoms and repair operation covered by GM TSB 17336-05 Special Coverage. Manufacturer Knowledge: GM issued TSB 17336-05 acknowledging their combi-cooler design cannot withstand normal thermal cycling, affecting 908,000+ vehicles. GM provides Customer Service Satisfaction Campaign 17336-01 free repairs for this exact defect but denied my reimbursement (Case #72260590) solely due to mileage, claiming manufacturing design defect becomes customer responsibility after 60k miles. Symptoms: Problem began summer 2024 - AC functions normally when parked in shade but requires 30-45 minutes to cool after direct sun exposure, exactly matching TSB heat-soak failure pattern. No warning lights as system retained sufficient refrigerant until complete thermal stress failure.

The sunroof shattered when nothing hit it driving down the road.

The stabilitrak notification comes on constantly. While we are driving/reversing and turn our steering wheel the whole car will shut down and the steering wheel jerks. It's happened multiple times. It takes forever for the car to turn back on.This is super dangerous and cause myself and my children to end up getting hit by another vehicle while on the road.

The vehicle shudders and shakes going down the road causing a safety hazard when failing. The transmission fluid has been changed multiple times and yet the transmission remains unstable with no errors or check lights appearing. When taken to the repair shop it seems there is a large number of failures for this transmission type.

There are times that the brake assist will stop working. The bake assist light has started coming on once in a while. I looked up the vin and it said all recalls were repaired. I have a concern that the vaccume brake issue was not properly taken care of at whatever dealership that claimed to fix the issue.

Air conditioning could cause a safety problem during hot days, forcing the driver to drive with all windows down and still remain very hot and sweaty while driving. The A/C system in this vehicle is so poorly designed that I've spent $6,000 in 8 years of ownership just to keep the A/C running. The primary problem is that is has a separate rear HVAC zone, which requires both high & low side freon lines to run under the length of the vehicle to a rear condenser. These lines are not shielded in any way from being hit by road debris. I'm replacing a leaking rear A/C for the third time at a cost of $1800. These lines should be shielded so they are not getting pelted by rocks and other debris. It's a very bad design that exposes a potential safety issue. When these lines break, it also dumps all of the freon into the atmosphere.

I was driving on the freeway when I lost power and the engine started to vibrate. Had to have it towed back to the dealer. They stated it was a bad lifter in cylinder six. It will cost 8K+ to repair. I have had the car less than a year and less than 90k in mileage.

Shuttering started with transmission which ultimately lead to the transmission failing at 140,900 miles. Costly repair for a vehicle that was serviced regularly.

Engine failure - lifters and cam shaft . Also, transmission had previously failed and had to be replaced as well as air conditioner condenser (pin hole leak).

The vehicle was taken to dealer, where it was diagnosed that the camshaft and the engine lifters had failed. The dealer determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.

My engine is blown at only 80,000 miles. Dealer said bad lifter. I was on the freeway and with no warning I lost power and black smoke. No warning. And now $16,000 to repair. Only 80,000 miles. At 100,000 you change spark plugs. I cannot afford to fix it. I spent 6 years saving up for just the down and now it’s gone. And I could have been very hurt on the freeway and hurt other people. I hope someone can help me.

Summary: The straps on this car seat came loose with a firm pull with my baby already buckled in. Description: On Saturday April 5th, we place our baby in the Britax One4Life ClickTight All-In-One Car Seat. My husband had our baby fully buckled in with the straps tightened when for some reason (thank goodness he did), he gave the straps a pretty firm pull (not holding the strap release lever down) and they loosened up. We were very shocked that this could happen. I also tested it as well and had the same result. This concerning because with a forceful pull on the car seat straps, they came loose. If we had been in some sort of collision and were unaware of this issue, the force of an accident certainly would have loosened the straps which could have had a lethal outcome ever for a minor collision. Because we weren't sure why this was happening with this car seat. We ordered a new car seat from a different manufacturer due to this safety concern. On Monday April 7th I called Britax twice to see if I could get an answer as to why this may be happening. I could not get a live person so I left a voicemail. I also scheduled an appointment for a video call on Wednesday the 9th in an attempt to contact someone. I was able to speak with someone on Wednesday the 9th. The person I spoke with asked me to check if there was any debris under the button to release the strap. with her on the call, I shook the car seat upside down, and vacuumed under the release button. Once that was done, the straps did function again as expected, not loosening with a firm pull. The representative did mention that she had seen this issue before with something even as minor as sand getting stuck under the button. If you have kids, you know how impossible it is to keep car seats completely clean. The seats get dirty from kids being at parks, daycare, in their own back yard, eating snacks, etc.. I believe this is a design flaw of this car seat and it needs to be investigated for safety.

When driving the dash panel all arrows go to zero, disconnects cruise and just about everything else on your list above. We have had it to the dealer many times over three months and I am concerned that when the system drops out my safety devices that it says check will not work if I’m in a collision.The list is to long to list. I bought my Tahoe from Dan Vaden Chevrolet in Savannah, GA with approx 58k miles. At around 88k miles I noticed the transmission hesitated when putting into reverse or drive from the park position. I had my transmission fluid changed at 70k and 100k miles. Now, at 112k miles, it has significantly gotten worse with shuddering between gears 1-3 and jerking when in reverse. Major hesitation when accelerating at any speed and high pitched whining noises that randomly happen, even after putting it in park and turning it off. Also, my ABS and Stabilitrak lights will illuminate and then go off every few days. As well as another random icon that randomly comes and goes. This Tahoe is now unsafe to drive but it’s the only transportation I have. I already missed a radiator replacement recall by 1,500 miles and had to pay for that out of pocket. Now Chevrolet isn’t recalling this transmission when it has over 190 complaints on this website alone, and thousands of others on other online forums. What will it take for the manufacturer to do the right thing? Will someone have to die in order for this to become an issue they stop ignoring? We have all spent money we worked hard to earn and deserve a vehicle that’s safe for our families.

Driving down the freeway at 75 mph and the headlight started flickering any time I would use my blinker. 5 minutes later the car automatically breaks hard all by itself along with the dash lights going off and the doors locking and unlocking. 3 days later driving in town taking a hard left suddenly I get alerts on the dashboard saying, "parking assist off" and "stabilitrak" then suddenly my steering wheel JERKS VIOLENTLY all the way to the right. This happened 2x when I am driving!!! It is available for inspection upon request. If this steering wheel malfunction happens to someone driving down an interstate someone could die. It just happened yesterday so I have not gotten it in to be looked at yet. There was zero warning it all happens suddenly and out of nowhere.

The stabilitrak light comes on and the whole vehicle shuts off, this happens while driving and turning, the entire vehicle loses power. I have had it inspected at the dealer, they said it’s normal. This is a continuous problem. When it shuts off I have no stealing breaks or anything. This put my life, my children’s life and fellow travelers lives at risk. Something is wrong with this yrs vehicle and I don’t know what it is.

Transmission down shifts into gears,causing vehicle to stall out in traffic

The brake vacuum pump is bad. It was hooked up to solious and that's the codes it's throwing. Out of no where while driving on the highway my brake pedal became very stiff and difficult to push down. I could barely stop in time off the exit. Now when the truck is in Drive it doesn't even move. When you do go u have to put all your might into pressing the brake down to stop. Even then the pedal won't go down. Very dangerous especially since I had my [XXX] daughter with me. Very scary situation. I looked up recall for VIN but I have 0. Which is weird because there's a recall on 2016 chevy tahoes for this exact symptoms and part. Now I did go to [XXX] and found a recall under my Vin and also a warranty for this part under my Vin. The touch screen glitches. While traveling depending on maps I can't safely drive and follow the screen.

Most the time my passenger airbag will not detect someone sitting there. However, when it does, it will shut off and on.

I have had several incidents this past couple months where my forward collision red light indicator will go off for no reason while driving. This literally scares me to brake when I shouldn't have to. Very annoying.

Several months back I took my car in to my local dealer for a recall and asked them about what was going in with my navigation and radio because when I'm driving the navigation system will deter from my destination that I put in and then start flipping through radio stations on its own and will not let me change or control it at all.

I called my local Chevrolet dealership to get the recalled on my Tahoe fixed and they can’t fix the recall for a full month. I’m very concerned because it’s a recall on the vacuum pump so it affects my brakes. My truck is a daily driver so I will have to gamble for a month on the streets and pray the brakes don’t get any worse.

On 4 plus occasions, the steering wheel would lock up, I would get warnings that the stabilitrak, the park assist was disabled. The engine shut off. This happens during driving.

I was driving to drop 3 out of my 4 children off at school when the transmission failed and started slipping and completely died in the middle of the road. The road is an extremely busy highway in our town. I turned the car off and back on and it went into forward gear just enough for me to get onto the shoulder. My children and myself were put into danger due to the transmission failing on a busy highway. I have had the car inspected by a mechanic. There is metal shavings all in the bottom of the transmission pan. There were no signs, and no warning lamps on the dash.

The contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the stabili-trak, ABS and traction control warning lights remained illuminated, and the vehicle would not immediately stop while depressing the brake pedal. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the ABS module and ABS pump were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 150,000.

While driving up a hill on a road trip the vehicle felt as if it wouldn't speed up when pressing on the accelerator- this was short lived. Upon parking in the driveway after the trip my husband noticed a fuel smell coming from the rear driver side of vehicle. The next day it was difficult to start and fuel smell was even more pronounced. As it was the weekend we did not drive it and waited to contact the dealer on Monday. Drove the vehicle to the dealership to have the smell diagnosed and while the engine was running and vehicle was in park, fuel began pouring out underneath. There were NO warning lights whatsoever. Fortunately our granddaughter had just been taken back to her parents as she had previously been in the vehicle! This could have caught fire!!! The vehicle is currently at the dealership and a leak in the fuel line has been diagnosed and is scheduled for repair as soon as the part comes in.

There’s a modulator in the rear end of my SUV that has been melting near exhaust every since purchased had taken to the dealership it was purchased from and also back to a Chevrolet dealership. At the time my warranty was still on vehicle at both places was told I will have to cover cost. This issue is very defective afraid of a fire being caused. I have small children and this matter needs to be addressed as soon as possible. The dealership states to just tuck it in keep a way from exhaust pipe which is dangerous and impossible to keep away when driving.

the paint is failing on the car. i have extensive research on it and it appears this is a big issue over the years 2015-19. there is no recall on this yet. i called the chevy 1(800) number and they told me to file a complaint to you guys.

Feeling of significant shudder and shake, especially at highway speeds. This is caused by a defective torque converter manufactured by Chevrolet. Shuddering can be felt when apply light throttle between 20-80MPH. Chevrolet dealership is asking for $8000 to fix their defective Torque Converter (GM 6l80). From all the vehicles that i have owned in the past, I have never received a bill this high for a part that has been proven to have failed in many vehicles manufactured by GM. I appreciate any action that can be taken to issue a recall and prevent any accidents due to this. Thank you.

Vehicle purchased new from Chevy dealer October 2016. Recurring vibration/shuddering in drive train with noticeable surge in engine rpms, most noticeable at approximately 30-45 mph. Dealer diagnosed as defective transmission, with following service performed: April 2017 -16,835 miles - Dealer rebuilt some internal parts inside transmission; February 2022 - 86,700 miles - Dealer flushed and replaced ATF fluid; October 2023 - 104,218 miles - Dealer advised defective transmission, replaced transmission; January 2024 - 105,537 miles - Dealer advised no repair needed however manufacturer was well aware of recurring shudder/vibration problem with no resolution

2016 Tahoe Fuel problems/ transmission jerking mostly going up an incline/hill. Warning ️ lights/ check engine light flashed only 3 or 4 times, I stopped the vehicle, about 5 minutes then I started back to drive . I took it to Edward Chevrolet in Bham Al , I told them I may have pumped some bad gas, because it was spudding & jerking especially when I when up an incline/ hill. But they told me that the gears going out in the transmission & I need a transmission. I took it to them because the truck was spudding when driving. So when I got my vehicle back now the truck making a winding noise, it’s changing out correctly but when I go up incline/ hill , it hesitates, spudding, jerking. I have two other vehicles, I haven’t drove the vehicle enough to have a transmission problem. I asked other people that have Tahoes, even mechanics, said they been having problems with the transmission in 2016 Tahoe & Chevrolet trucks that carry that particular transmission, having the same problems. I think it need to be a replacement of transmission or recall established on the 2016 Tahoes & pickups!!! Sign please help, I don’t have no 6,200 for no transmission & haven’t even driven my truck enough to have a transmission problem! While pulling up to the drive thru window to pick up our food, at very low speed, vehicle would not stop had put all of my body weight on brake pedal to get it to stop and avoid hitting car in front of us.

I’ve had my struts repaired and they still squeak and the truck bounced all over the road. There is a defect with the struts

Brake Assist failure at low speed making vehicle extremely hard to stop. GM recall N182202780 does not cover all VIN numbers of the model years affected. GM states this VIN number is not covered yet the vehicle has the exact failure outlined in this recall.

While driving at low speeds, the brake pedal became very difficult to engage and the car did not stop as intended. This affects the ability of the vehicle to stop in areas with frequent pedestrian traffic such as driveways and parking lots creating a substantial safety risk. The vehicle has not been to a repair shop or dealership to investigate further at this time. There are no warning lights or messages from the vehicle computer system. This issue sounds like an issue researched on the internet for Chevy vehicles, but this VIN is not covered by a prior recall. While driving in atleast in awd and I think it happened in 2wd. My abs light comes on with stabilitrack and trailer break. Once that happens driving feels weird like breaks are closing in. Turning is extremely difficult cause it feels like all this are breaking. Then once I stop the car it kicks forward after the car is off

I have a 2016 Chevy Tahoe LTZ. It has the air ride suspension. I need all new shocks and struts and a new air ride air suspension pump. Reported this issue when the vehicle had 60-66k miles on it. I was never told what was wrong until about 2 weeks ago. The grand total of replacing these issues is over 6k. I called Chevy/GMC theres nothing they will do as it’s out of any warranty even though the problem has been reported/documented way before it hit 84k. Jim Shorkey Chevy is a joke and Boby Rahal has no clue what warranty they’re selling people. This makes for a very loud, very rough ride that’s hard to control going any speed. There was also a valve that would squeak when it went from the V4 to the V8. In order to fix that i needed a whole new exhaust and muffler. Chevy would not cover any of this even though there is warranty for emissions through Chevy I can’t remember the year but i know the miles were 90k. I don’t have that on the car and for whatever reason an exhaust and muffler are not considered emissions even though if there was a hole or malfunction with them I wouldn’t pass the emissions here in PA. Make that make sense. All of these problem were reported within the year of buying this car back in 2020. I didn’t get a diagnosis for these problems until 2023 and 30k miles later. I did and still do have issues with the brake even though the vacuum pump was replaced back when I bought it. My antenna also leaked and I had to pay for that out of pocket. I’d love to stay with a gmc/Chevy but if I’m going to constantly have to pour money into it I’ll never go back.

While driving at low speeds, the brake pedal became very difficult to engage and the car did not stop as intended. This affects the ability of the vehicle to stop in areas with frequent pedestrian traffic such as driveways and parking lots creating a substantial safety risk. The vehicle electrical system malfunctions. The vehicle stalls when the turn signal lever is shifted. When the steering wheel is turn to the right or left the vehicle stalls. Upon acceleration, particularly on the highway, and when the turn signal lever is shifted, the vehicle's gauges go haywire. The engine light comes on, the gauges move rapidly back and forth, a "Stabalink" error appears, the doors lock and unlock. My family and I have been put in unsafe conditions because of the electrical issues with this vehicle. We have been traveling on the highway when the vehicle stalled out. We have turned into intersections when the vehicle has stalled in oncoming traffic. The vehicle has accelerated and decelerated spontaneously causing us to loose control. The issue started approximately one year ago. Approximately three months ago, we took the vehicle to a Chevrolet Service Center in Woodbridge, VA to have it inspected. We were advised they could not locate the problem and the vehicle was returned to us without any repairs. The problems with the vehicle have started to occur more frequently. We have stopped driving the vehicle because of concerns for our. One week ago we dropped the vehicle to a Chevrolet Service Center in Baltimore, Maryland, which is over 50 miles from our home to have it inspected. The vehicle currently remains at the service center.

I ALSO TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP THAT I PURCHASED IT FROM AND THEY ALSO DID A DIAGNOSTIC AND GOT THE SAME 2 CODES ( tORQU CONVERTER FAULTY) SAID I NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION FOR $6800!!! I HAVE NOT EVEN HAD MY TRUCK FOR 3 YEARS AND BEING TOLD THIS IS OUTRAGOUS! I'M SEEING THIS SAME COMPLAINT LISTED OVER AND OVER SO WHAT CAN BE DONE TO HELP VEHICLE OWNERS LIKE ME?

Fuel started leaking from top side of fuel tank. Seems to only leak while vehicle is running. My wife and family where all in the tahoe when this occurred. Also tahoe would shut down while driving just out of nowhere. Total loss off power and control. After a couple minutes it would start right back up. My family and kids were also in the car when this has happened.

I was driving down highway and saw a wall of cars and brake lights in the distance, so naturally my foot tried to push the brakes. The pedal was hard, and I panicked because my tahoe was not stopping at all! I continued to stomp on brake pedal all the way until my car actually hit 3 vehicles and then the guardrail! My brakes did not work , because if they did then I would have easily prevented this accident!!

I noticed out of the blue that the Tahoe was down-shifting hard and making a slight whining noise. I brought the vehicle to Supreme Chevrolet in Gonzales for them to diagnose the problem. I was absolutely shocked when they told me that my transmission would need to be replaced. This 2017 Tahoe has only one owner and has not been used for towing, I bring the vehicle to the dealership for regular maintenance. the vehicle only has 127,612 miles. This problem is a huge safety concern because the vehicle could just stop and will not be drivable while driving. This is very dangerous! I have seen hundreds of complaints regarding this same problem on the same make, model, and year. Something needs to be done fast to ensure the safety of the driver and passengers.

My car was acting like it didn’t want to go. I felt the car trying to change gears but it was unable to. Almost caused an accident and I had my two children in the car. No check engine light came on until 2 days later after it began causing problems. I have researched this issue and it is a recurrent problem with Chevrolet Tahoes 2016. My husband had the same problem with his 2016 GMC sierra and had to have his transmission replaced at 118,000 miles. Seems like a recurrent problem with GMCs and CHEVROLET vehicles. It’s very dangerous.

Purchased the car new for a local dealer in Surprise, Arizona. Over time the brake pedal has become spongy, soft and pulsating. This happens mostly at slow speeds like backing out of the driveway or garage. Did a search of the NHTSA web site and see that there was a recall on my model year vehicle to replace or reprogram the vacuum pump. However I never received a recall notice. I am now afraid to drive the car because I am concerned over a complete brake failure. I do know that during one of my normal service maintenance appointments I was approached by the service advisor about his concern over a suspected brake issue. He wanted to replace my entire brake system, master cylinder, vacuum pump, etc for a cost of about $1,500 as I recall. I declined the repair as I was not aware of that the problem I was experiencing was including in the recall. Again I never received any notice of a recall of the vacuum pump for the brakes but clearly I am experiencing the symptoms as was described in the recall notice on your website.

While braking the engine will try to accelerate. not like normal downshift acceleration. sometimes while my speed is below 5 mph the engine will accelerate to the point that i have to apply extra brake pedal pressure to keep from hitting the car in front of me.

Steering assist warning message came up on dash and then transmission failed … had transmission fixed and steering assist warning is still there … checked into it and it’s the stabil track system that supposedly there is a recall for but my vin number doesn’t show it as a recall but other vehicle’s matching mine does

I bought this vehicle brand new crossed over into the 133,000 range and the transmission just goes out and upon reading up on this it’s happening a lot with the 2016 Chevy Tahoe the ball was dropped on a recall regarding this vehicle it’s funny how it’s happening a lot to people

While traveling a major highway (70 mph) over the holiday weekend, I experienced a loss of engine power. The RPM's went up to 5 while I decreased speed. I had gone from 75 MPH down to 35 while trying to maintain speed up a hill. I pulled over to the break down lane to let traffic pass and when it was safe, I tried to engage the vehicle to speed. It would slip gears and continue to lose momentum. The check engine light came on so I pulled it into a rest area and called for a tow. When the tow truck arrived and I needed to turn the car on to put it in neutral, the check engine light had turned off. After having it towed and a mechanic diagnose the issue, it was found that the transmission was blown. The transmission fluid is black and contains metal slivers. I had just had my transmission fluid checked during a tune-up. The fluid was changed at 70,000 miles. I have 113,000 miles on it now. The only warning I got just prior was a vibration similar to needing a front end alignment. There were no other warnings. Like I said, the fluid was checked a month prior to this incident.

Brakes barely stop at low speed

Lifters in engine failed, bent rods, 3 of 8 cylinders scratched; engine need to be rebuilt. Engine failed at 47K miles. AC Condenser cracked at 47K miles. Engine failure is safety issue. Known issue at Chevrolet where already extended warranty from original manufacturer's warranty. Engine could have ceased while driving putting driver and passenger(s), if any, in immediate and imminent danger.

After lifters on engine failed on original engine at approximately 47K miles, engine was rebuilt. Received Tahoe back with 47,791 miles on odometer. Brand new Chevrolet lifters failed prior to odometer reaching 48,903, bending rods and requiring that the engine that was just rebuilt to be replaced or rebuilt again. While driving engine loss oil pressure with red light warning coming on telling to immediately turn off engine. Engine may have ceased while car was in motion, putting driver and passenger(s), if any, in immediate and imminent danger. it was almost 7 months to rebuild engine last time due to GMAC parts being unavailable. Brand new parts failed at roughly 1K miles, there may be a quality control and/or design issue with lifters.

At 34, 716 right front strut needed to be replaced. At 40,719 both rear air shocks needed to be replaced. Suspension was loose and made steering difficult on surfaces that were not flat and smooth.

Driver side seat belt female part broke inside. Can not insert & clip in male part.

GM has a known problem with the sensors for the side detection system that are placed outside in the rear of the vehicle. Tires splash water and salt directly on the sensors causing them to short out. This short not only causes the side detection to misreport whether a vehicle is in your blind spot, it also manifests itself with lift gate malfunctions and various other messages displayed on the DIC like Service Park Assist System or Service Trailer Brake. My Tahoe has had all these issues. To date GM has not recalled my Tahoe or any other GM vehicle with this problem. The dealership quoted me $1,700 for the fix and are having trouble sourcing the new sensors since apparently I am not the only one affected. Howabout your agency looking into this and suggesting to GM to man up on this and cover the repair through a recall and a reimbursement for those who paid out of pocket.

I bought this 2016 Tahoe in January of 2023. I was very excited to purchase my first Tahoe and sunk my savings into paying for it. A couple weeks after I purchased it, I got a service trailer break message that came up on my screen. I have had several different mechanics look at it, but still, it hasn't been fixed. This message pops up probably 60 times while I am driving, and continuously. It flashes across my screen, and when I dismiss it, it will go away for a second and then pop up again. This dinging message continues while I'm driving it. I feel that it is a safety hazard as I am very distracted by it when I am driving the car. I don't have any other choice, as I spent all my money I had for a car on purchasing this car, and don't have another car to drive, so I have to drive this one. I would really like for GM to issue a recall for this, and tell technicians how to fix this. The technicians I have seen tried replacing the battery and a corroded wire. We've replaced the switch, but still this message returns. I am very frustrated by this, as I traded my old car in for this one, because I was having car trouble. I wanted to trade to avoid car problems, but just got a car with more problems. I am going insane with this message and not having a fix for it.

Accident occurred on 05/22/2022. The airbag did not deploy. Me and my 3 passengers were injured. The vehicle was not inspected. Allstate insurance auctioned the vehicle before it could get inspected. No warning lights prior to accident.

Hello, I purchased my truck last year in December and I told them the problems I was having with the truck when I got. They act like they fixed it but it’s still doing the same thing. I’ve put struts on it and control arms 3 times and it still is giving me problems. My suspension and driver assist warnings always pop up. When I get up to 85 mph, they truck shakes really bad and the speed won’t go over 85 mph. When I got brakes, the trucks pulls to the left and right which I know that could mean a line up but even after I line it up, it still does the same thing. I feel like it’s a defect with the suspension and driver assist systems with those model trucks. I love my truck and really don’t want to get rid of it. I’ve taken my truck to my dealership several times and I don’t want my warranty to run out before I can get my truck fixed. Can you help at all???

My 2016 Tahoe just shut off on me and my daughter inside of the tunnel with heavy traffic. When I placed the gear in drive the vehicle roll back instead of moving forward. I was afraid because the traffic was steady moving. The emergency wrecker pushed my Tahoe to safety out of the tunnel. I had it towed to my mechanic he said it’s the transmission . Hello to whom it may concern, I purchased a certified pre-owned 2016 Chevy Tahoe in November of 2019 from a Woodland Ca dealership. Over the last six years, I have put only 31k miles on the truck. In 2022 I have put in a new transmission at 120K and now not even a year later I’m getting a warning message popping up on the dashboard service Trailer brake system. I have NOT towed anything in the last two years since my move. However, on January 4th of this year 2023 when the warning started, I thought it was just that I accidentally hit the trailer switch. I hit the switch again and the warning went away. However, the warning is increasing in the number of times it’s coming on. I took it to a mechanic and discovered they said that a wire needed to be replaced. When I went to YouTube, I noticed that there were several videos on the same issue. This unexcitable that a company as big as GMC wouldn’t take care of the part that results in the warning. My vehicle is not safe to drive in that condition. Near collision with pedestrian in crosswalks on left turns and near collision with pedestrians crossing multi lane roads who entering from a landscaped center island. I have repeatedly experienced this situation even though I am acutely aware of the view obstruction created by the large A-pillar, air bag and drivers side mirror. It has become evident from the incidents in my neighborhood that trucks and SUV's are involved in the fatalities at crosswalks and multi lane roadways. An recent fatality occurred on December 10 2022 in Poway at the intersection of Midland and Edgmoore Rd. 35yr old women killed in crosswalk by driver making left turn. The January 24th 2022 fatality happened on Community Rd. in Poway 92064. It would appear your forms are incident focused and not geared to identify safety hazards that have not been considered. Brakes failed to work at low speed. Traveling in stop and go traffic on I-40 and the brake pedal became hard as a rock and was pulsing. Had to pull over and coast to a stop. Performed a test on the median of the highway and again the brakes failed to work. We were towed to the repair shop. Awaiting the repair diagnosis and cost.

My 6 yr old chevy Tahoe felt like it was hesitating when driving. I called my local garage and dropped it off. They informed me after inspection that the lifters have failed and now cylinders are in deactivation made. The fix is a new Engine. 10-14k dollars. They informed me this is a known issue in this model. I called chevy customer service. I Took Tahoe to a chevy dealer. They confirmed the diagnosis. I have no recall, no engine light on and am told driving it will cause more serious damage and eventually will not run. Chevy is unresponsive to my pleas for financial assistance and I am left without a driveable car.

Frequent vacuum brake failure. The brake pedal goes all the way to the floor.

The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

The fuel supply hose/line from the fuel tank to the vehicle connection rubbed through, due to a loose fit where it attaches to the tank, causing a fuel leak. There were no indicator/warning lights, though a hard start/extended cranking time occurred on occasion. Raw fuel could be smelled with a very slight drip, which could only be seen on clean concrete. Vehicle had only 54,000 miles on it and driven very lightly, but does drive on dirt/gravel roads.

The transmission malfunctioned and left me unable to move forward (uphill) in a high traffic area. I had to turn on the hazard lights, allow the vehicle to roll backwards (in traffic) to a parking lot. Very dangerous. The vehicle would not engage the transmission and was just revving without gear engagement. I had to get the vehicle towed and I am now looking at an expensive repair bill. GM is aware that they have transmission issues on 2015-16 Tahoe models but they choose not to do anything about it. Very frustrating.

This complaint is with respect to the GM Infotainment System. While driving on the 405 freeway in Orange County, CA, the sound level of the infotainment system went to maximum. This being extremely painful, I tried to turn down the volume of the sound system. All controls were frozen and inoperative. I had to pull off the freeway and find a parking spot so I could turn off the engine for a short time to allow the electronics to reset. I had my wife and granddaughter with me. I have had this infotainment system freeze at other times such as using the navigation system, or the sound system. This could be a very dangerous condition while driving. I can imagine a driver being greatly distracted while attempting to deal with a problem such as this, or even a lesser problem. What is needed is a way to reset the electronics while driving. This could be a special button or pushing a pair of existing buttons. I consider this a very dangerous problem. I queried the dealership for a reset procedure but they had nothing to offer.

The break pedal pivot nut loosened to the point where it fell off and the break pedal became inoperative.

On 18 Apr 2022, my 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe LTZ was found to have a gas leak around the fuel tank area when the car was taken to the Chevrolet Service Center for an oil change. On that day, there was both a strong fuel smell and presence of a pool of raw gas. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. Additionally, I was not notified by GM/Chevrolet that this could be an issue. After inspection and diagnosis, the service technician found a "rubbed spot" on the the feed pipe and replaced it. He noted that he "made sure the new pipe is secured on tank as designed to prevent future occurrence". This vehicle is used as primary transport for my family. The fact that it leaked gas while I was driving put my family's safety at risk. I also believe that other owners and their families could be at risk. After researching the problem, I have found several posts from other owners and a service bulletin that describes the issue and the service procedures to fix it. I believe there should be a recall for this well-known major safety issue. I have emailed GM/Chevrolet's customer service department and provide them with details of my complaints and supporting documentation also attached in this compliant form. The items are: 1. My service invoice 799356 dated 20 Apr 2022. 2. Picture of the pin hole on the defective fuel feed pipe removed from my vehicle. 3. Service Bulletin 17-NA-304, dated February 2020 which provides guidance to professional technicians on the issue(s) and service procedures to fix it. The first edition of this bulletin was released in September 2017 which is after I purchased my 2016 Tahoe. 4. Several forum posts from other Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban owners who have experienced the same major safety issue.

When I apply the brake it goes to the floor, I have to pump my brake pedal. Once the Tahoe slows to a stop it rolls forward as the brake is still engaged and pressed to the floor. When backing up in reverse the brakes grind when using a downhill grade. Lastly the brake assist light has illuminated on the control panel.

Brakes do not work when driving in slow speeds. I could not stop my 2016 Tahoe in a shopping center parking lot. Pedal was stiff and non responsive. I had the same issue parking in my garage. Vehicle did not stop and went into the wall!!

The DIC shows “CAL” and will not allow direction of travel. The navigation system will not re-calibrate after many efforts to do so with instructions from manufacturer.

-body- hood paint defect (aluminum oxidation) -brakes- vehicles doesn't stop and brakes get hard to push, and they also feel like they are skipping. -power train- brakes and transmission shifts hard from time to time. -electronics- DVD and rear inverter 110 a/c plug power went out, and cell phone charger doesn't work. -seats- get stuck and won't go up or down at times. Forward and side collision warning - will alert when nothing is there.

When driving at low speed (parking lots i.e.) brakes don’t work properly and the brake assist message pops up on dash, it only happens at very low speed

2016 Tahoe with 57,000 miles. All 4 of the shocks are locked up. The truck bumps very hard with no give making control at high speeds dangerous. This problem is known to Chevrolet if you look at the reviews but nothing is done to recall or fix. Instead they expect the customer to discover it and pay $4,000 to replace. I discovered because of bad situation on the highway. Are they going to wait until someone is killed? Chevrolet should not only replace them in recall but should pay all customer back for their costs.

Slow speed braking problems brakes don’t work good at slow speeds

I was driving on the 405 freeway, passing through Orange,, County, CA. While adjusting the sound level of the radio, part of the Infotainment system, the volume jumped to maximum level. These automobiles have superior sound systems and the sound was at a painful level. Nothing that I could touch had any effect on the sound level. Also in the car was my wife and a young granddaughter who started crying. So I had to exit the freeway and find a parking place where I could stop the engine and allow the Infotainment system reset and I could then select a normal volume. This could have been the cause of an accident because all of my attention was turned to the electronics. Freezes and non operation of the other features of these electronics has also occurred which causes the driver to turn his attention to getting things working again. What is severely needed is a way to easily reset the electronics by the driver. This could be a simple button on the steering wheel or a combination of buttons that would safely reset the system back to normal while driving.

The contact pulled over to the side of the road during the failure and waited for approximately 5 minutes before the wipers started to operate as intended. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure or diagnose the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened a case. The approximate failure mileage was 44,000.

Braking causes vehicle to accelerate

First sign of problem was Thursday night, 10/7/2021. When on an incline there is no brake vacuum assist, takes both feet and all the force I can apply to stop vehicle going very slow. On flat surface it feels different than normal, when applying brakes there is a feeling of rough resistance but the brakes do work almost as normal. I see there is a recall for brake assist pump that is fixed by software update. I have only owned this vehicle since July of this year. I have checked the NHTSA data base and it shows no non-repaired recalls. I do not know how to confirm if a recall notice was actually sent out on this vehicle. This is not a random occurrence, it started Thursday and has not stopped. I am afraid to drive this vehicle for fear of dying.

This vehicle is less than 5 years old, has less than 63K miles, and the front struts are blown and leaking oil and rear shock is locked up. This makes the vehicle dangerous to drive and difficult to control on bumpy roads.

The transmission is defective. Bucks, jumps, and hard shifts decelerating or accelerating. I drive for cancer treatments with my kids and grandchildren. Monday we were almost unable to make it home. Inability to accelerate to merge onto interstate. So hard and loud we thought the transmission was going to fall out in the tunnel. After researching I noticed Gm has a pending class action lawsuit for the issue. Dealership kept telling me it was the spark plug wires and plugs. Replaced twice to no avail. I noticed there are issues reported for the Tahoe and the traverse. WITHIN 2 MILES OF DRIVING THE VEHICLE AFTER SITTING FOR THE 8 HOURS, THE VEHICLE WAS HAVING SEVERE PROBLEMS SHIFTING INTO THE APPROPRIATE GEAR AND THE RPM WAS ALL OVER THE PLACE. THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL AND EASILY COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO GO APPROXIMATELY 2 MORE MILES. AFTER THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP AT A RED LIGHT, I TRIED TO ACCELERATE AND THE VEHICLE DID NOT MOVE FORWARD. THE RPM WAS GOING UP, THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING, AND THE VEHICLE WAS IN DRIVE BUT ACTED LIKE IT WAS IN NEUTRAL. I TRIED PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND BACK INTO DRIVE WITH NO SUCCESS. I ALSO TRIED TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF AND RE STARTING IT WITH NO SUCCESS. THE VEHICLE BLOCKED TRAFFIC AND WAS IN AN UNSAFE LOCATION UNTIL A TOW TRUCK CAME AND MOVED THE VEHICLE.

AS I APPROACHED A RED LIGHT THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED NEARLY TO THE FLOOR AND WITH NO WARNING A POPPING NOISE SOUNDED FROM THE VEHICLE FOLLOWED BY THE BRAKE PEDAL SUDDENLY DEPRESSING COMPLETELY INTO THE FLOOR. I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND GET THE VEHICLE TO A SAFE LOCATION GIVEN THE LACK OF BRAKING ABILITIES. THIS IS A SEVERAL TON VEHICLE AND I EXPECT THE BRAKES TO WORK AT ALL TIMES. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER ONCE BEFORE TO REMEDY THIS RECALL BUT IT WAS CLEARLY NOT FIXED. THE LOSS OF BRAKING ABILITY WAS FOLLOWED BY A MESSAGE ON THE DASH STATING "SERVICE BRAKING SYSTEM IMMEDIATELY", FOLLOWED BY "SERVICE BRAKE ASSIST". A LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH AS WELL AND I AM UNSURE OF THE SPECIFIC MEANING OF THIS LIGHT. A SECOND LIGHT SHOWING "ABS" WAS FLASHING TO ALSO CATCH MY ATTENTION TO THE CURRENT ISSUE AT HAND.

I CONTACTED CHEVROLET AND I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP. WE TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND TALKED WITH THE ASSISTANT MANAGER IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. HE BROUGHT OUT THE MANAGER AND HE CONFIRMED THAT IT WAS PAINT FAILURE. SO THEN THE DEALERSHIP GETS INVOLVED WITH CHEVROLET. THE FIRST CALL COMES BACK AND SAYS THEY WILL COVER 20%. I TOLD THEM THAT SOME ONE WAS GOING TO COVER THE REPAIRS AND IT WON'T BE ME. THEY SOLD ME A PROTECTION PLAN THROUGH FINISHING TOUCH FOR THE PAINT AND THE INTERIOR SO SOMEONE NEEDS TO COVER THE DAMAGE. AFTER A FEW DAYS I GET A CALL STATING THAT BETWEEN THE DEALERSHIP, CHEVROLET AND FINISHING TOUCH IT WOULD BE REPAIRED AT NO COST. NOW IT GETS BETTER. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE HOOD AND THE ROOF REPAINTED. AFTER A WEEK AT THE BODY SHOP THE CAR IS READY TO BE PICKED UP. WE WALK UP TO THE CAR AND IT IS ALL SHINY AND LOOKING GOOD. BUT THE COLOR DOESN'T MATCH. WE CALL THE SERVICE MANAGER OUT AND HE SAYS HE CAN'T SEE THE ISSUE. THE TAHOE IS A BROWNSTONE METALLIC AND THE HOOD IS MORE BRONZE THAN THE REST OF THE VEHICLE. HE TELLS ME HE CAN GET THE PAINT MANAGER TO COME SPEAK TO ME BECAUSE HE CAN'T SEE THE PROBLEM. AT 50K MILES THE DELAY IN ACCELERATION WAS FAR MORE NOTICEABLE. I WOULD ACCELERATE AND RPM WOULD GO UP TO 4,5 OR6 BEFORE CAR WOULD MOVE START TO MOVE. BROUGHT BACK TO DEALER, DID ROAD TEST WITH TECH AND HE ACKNOWLEDGED THAT SOMETHING DIDN'T FEEL RIGHT STATED HE WOULD HAVE TRANSMISSION SPECIALIST LOOK IT OVER. AFTER HAVING CAR FOR 2 WEEKS WE DID ANOTHER ROAD TEST WITH MASTER TECHNICIAN AND HE STATED HARD SHIFTING WAS NORMAL ACCELERATION FOR THIS TRUCK BECAUSE OF VARIABLE TRANSMISSION. HE SAID ULTIMATELY THERE ARE NO TROUBLE CODES SO CAR IS 100% FINE. AT 63,000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION GAVE OUT! I DROVE CAR ON HIGHWAY ABOUT 145 MILES WITH NO ISSUE, I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET WHEN I STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND WHEN I PRESSED ON ACCELERATOR CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. FINALLY AFTER A FEW SECONDS OF ENGINE REVVING CAR JERKED BACK AND ROLLED FORWARD SLIGHTLY. WAS ABLE TO DRIVE CAR INTO STRIP MALL PARKING LOT. TOOK BACK TO DEALER AND THEY ARE SAYING THE TRANSMISSION IS OUT BUT CAN'T EXPLAIN WHY WE STILL HAVE NO TROUBLE CODES! THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO COVER BECAUSE IT IS 3,000 MILES OUT OF WARRANTY.

TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP FOR ENGINE LIGHT AND COMPLETE POWER LOSS WHILE DRIVING 70MPH ON HIGHWAY. WAS TOLD UNEVEN WEAR ON BRAKES, THAT THEY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED SOON (25083, MILES ON VEHICLE)THEY DID NOT INFORM ME OF THE NOTICE ABOUT UNEVEN FRONT BRAKE PAD WEAR BULLETIN #PIT5377D. ANAOW AT LATEST CHECK , METAL TO METAL, WAS INFORMED OF THE BULLEIN FROM A BRAKE PLACE. DEALERSHIP WAS WELL AWARE OF VEHICLE HAVING DEFECTIVE PADS AND ROTORS, YET DIDNOT INFORM CUSTOMER!

WAS DRIVING TRUCK AT 70MPH ON HIGHWAY, WENT TO CHANGE LANES, WAS IN CRUISE CONTROL. LOST ALL POWER, THEN ALL WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AND OFF. ENGINE CODE WHEN TAKEN IN TOO DEALERSHIP WAS P00700 AND U0100

I HAVE AN ISSUE WITH MY TAHOE AND I NOTICED SOME OTHER VEHICLES HAVE THE SAME ISSUE BUT MINE DOESN'T HAVE THAT RECALL. I BEEN SEEING SERVICE BRAKE ASSIST ON MY DISPLAY, AND WITH THAT I HAVE PROBLEMS STOPPING MY VEHICLE AT A SLOW SPEED. IT USUALLY HAPPENS WHEN I'M BACKING UP OUT OF MY GARAGE, OR TRYING TO PARK AT A PARKING SPACE. I HAVE TO PRESS DOWN ON THE PEDAL HARD TO STOP, AT ONE TIME I HAD TO PUR IT IN NEUTRAL CAUSE I COULDN'T STOP. I'M AFRAID ONE OF THESE DAYS IT WON'T STOP AND I WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT OR DAMAGES CAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. VERY POOR COATING ON FRAME. COATING PEELS AND FLAKES OFF, EVEN ON A LIGHTLY USED VEHICLE. AFTER COATING PEELS OFF THE FRAME AND COMPONENTS BEGINS TO RUST.

ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS I HAVE LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE FIRST TIME I WAS TURNING AND THOUGHT MAYBE I HIT A SLICK SPOT ON THE ROAD BUT THE SAME THING DID NOT HAPPEN TO OTHER CARS. THE SECOND TIME I WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT ON A SECONDARY ROAD AND OUT OF NOWHERE THE CAR STARTED SLIDING LIKE IT WAS ON ICE BUT THE BRAKES AND STEERING WERE NON FUNCTIONAL. I COULD TURN THE WHEEL AND PRESS THE BRAKES BUT NOTHING HAPPENED. THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT THERE WERE ANY ISSUES WITH THE CAR, NO ALARMS OR MESSAGES CAME UP BEFORE, DURING, OR AFTER THE INCIDENTS. I WAS VERY LUCKY IN BOTH INSTANCES IN THAT THERE WERE NO ONCOMING CARS. THIS HAS BEEN EXTREMELY TERRIFYING AND I REFUSE TO DRIVE THE CAR ANYMORE. HEAVEN FORBID MY CHILDREN OR ANYONE ELSE HAD BEEN IN THE CAR.

JUST RECENTLY GOT MY BRAKES RE-PROGRAMMED AND IMMEDIATELY THEY CONTINUED NOT TO FUNCTION CORRECTLY. THE WARNING LIGHTS DON'T COME ON BUT THEY STILL DO NOT STOP IN TIME. IN A PARKING LOT I COULD NOT STOP AND HIT A SIGN IN FRONT OF THE PARKING SPACE. WILL CHEVROLET FIX THE DAMAGE CAUSED BY MY CAR. SINCE I HAVE BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE IN 2016 I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT CONTINUOUS PROBLEMS WITH IT. 1.2016 TAHOE W/ 96,000 MILES BEGAN RIDING EXTREMELY ROUGH ANY SPEED. SO MUCH BOUNCE AND JARRING THAT THE CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE ON ANY ROUGH ROAD. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, THE MAGNETIC RIDE CONTROL SHOCKS AND STRUTS FAILED AND ARE FULLY EXTENDED. COST TO REPAIR OVER $3,000 FOR 4 SHOCKS/STRUTS. 2. MY FUEL INJECTION IS HORRIBLE AND HAS CAUSED ME TO LOSE MPG ON MY MILEAGE. IT HESITATES ON ACCELERATION AND WHEN IT SET ON CRUISE - BASICALLY ALL THE TIME LIKE ITS CHUGGING CONSTANTLY. 3. MY BRAKES HAVE BEEN RECALLED AND THE PRESSURE IS NOT CONSISTENT ON THE,. ALL OF THIS BEFORE I EVEN HIT 100,000 MILES. I PAID $74K FOR THIS VEHICLE IN 2016 AND I HAVE HAD TO PUT LITERALLY ~$8K IN VEHICLE MAINTENANCE IN IT SINCE. VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED!!

I AM A POLICE FLEET MANAGER THAT HAS AN ALL CHEVY TAHOE FLEET. IN OCTOBER 2019, I RECEIVED NOTIFICATION FOR CHEVY RECALL N192268490 AND EVERY VEHICLE IN THE FLEET WAS TAKEN IN FOR THE RECALL. THE RECALL WAS TO REPROGRAM THE BRAKES, SO BRAKING WOULD STILL BE POSSIBLE EVEN IF THE BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED. HOWEVER, THE RECALL DID NOT ADDRESS THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM, WHICH IS A FAULTY SECONDARY HYDRAULIC BRAKE ASSIST VACUUM PUMP. I WAS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE I HAD TWO TAHOES ALREADY HAVE A VACUUM BOOSTER FAILURE, WHICH RESULTED IN AN EXTREMELY HARD BRAKE PEDAL WHICH WOULD NOT STOP THE VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM ARISES DURING SLOW SPEED BRAKING, SUCH AS PARKING LOTS OR SLOW SPEED PATROL. LESS THAN A WEEK AFTER TAKING THE VEHICLES TO CHEVY FOR THE RECALL, AN OFFICER WAS MANEUVERING SLOWLY IN A PARKING LOT. THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED AN EXTREMELY HARD BRAKE PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP. THE OFFICER WAS ABLE TO TURN THE VEHICLE, BARELY AVOIDING A COLLISION. OBVIOUSLY, GM'S BAND-AID RECALL DOES NOT FIX OR EVEN OVERRIDE THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHERE THE SERVICE PROVIDERS AGREED THE RECALL WAS A PLACEBO AND THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE VACUUM BOOSTER. AS PER A RECENT LETTER FROM GM, THEY HAVE GIVEN AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE VACUUM PUMP, FOR FREE REPLACEMENT. SO, OBVIOUSLY THEY KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM. THE LIABILITY PLACED ON MUNICIPALITIES, WHO HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE BUT TO USE THEIR FLEET VEHICLES WITH KNOWN BRAKING ISSUES, IS AN UNFAIR BURDEN AND RISK. GM NEEDS TO RECALL AND REPLACE THE VACUUM BOOSTERS! *JS

IN MAY 2018, OUR UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLIES WERE LOOSE AND MAKING NOISES WHEN DRIVING OVER BUMPS. WE TOOK THE CAR TO LES SCHWAB AND THEY FOUND FAILURE OF BOTH FRONT CONTROL ARMS. THE UPPER AND LOWER BALL JOINTS WERE LOOSE AS WELL BEYOND WHAT WOULD BE EXPECTED. THEY REQUIRED USE OF OUR EXTENDED WARRANTY TO REPAIR THE DEFECTS.

HELLO MY TAHOE WAS IN A CHEVROLET DEALER ON OCTOBER 25 BECAUSE OF A BRAKE RECALL, THE TRUCK WAS 'FIXED' THAT SAME DAY. THE ONLY THING IS THAT MY TRUCK WON'T START ANYMORE SINCE THEN. THE VEHICLE IS LEAKING GASOLINE FROM THE TANK. SUSPECT IT IS LEAKING FROM THE FUEL LINE ON TOP OF THE TANK--NO HOLES OR IMPACT ON TANK APPARENT ON THE UNDER SIDE. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE IS STILL LEAKING OIL FROM THE DRAIN PAN EVEN AFTER RE-SEALED BY DEALER. THIS IS ALL IN ADDITION TO THE A/C GOING OUT TWICE....AND NEW LIFTERS IN THE ENGINE.

WHILE TRAVELING SOUTHBOUND ON A FOUR LANE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 65-70MPH (POSTED SPEED LIMIT OF 65) MY 2016 CHEVROLET TAHOE SEEMED TO HAVE NO STEERING, SIMILAR TO HOW A STEERING WHEEL FEELS WHEN VEHICLE IS OFF, AS THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING OVER A KNOLL WITH A SLIGHT CURVE TO THE LEFT. THE ACCELERATOR WAS PRESSED TO CHECK TO SEE IF VEHICLE WAS IN FACT STILL RUNNING, WHICH IT WAS, BUT THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT MOVE. THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED AT WHICH TIME THE TAHOE DARTED LEFT INTO THE OTHER LANE WHERE ANOTHER VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING, CAUSING THAT VEHICLE TO HIT THE TAHOE IN THE DRIVERS SIDE BACK DOOR. THE TAHOE THEN CONTINUED BROADSIDE UNTIL IT BROKE FREE OF IMPACT WITH THE OTHER VEHICLE, AND TURNED BACKWARD INTO THE MEDIAN. THE TAHOE TRAVELLED BACKWARDS THRU THE MEDIAN FOR APPROXIMATELY 80FT AT WHICH TIME THE ACCELERATOR WAS PRESSED TO THE FLOOR IN AN ATTEMPT TO KEEP THE TAHOE OUT OF NORTHBOUND TRAFFIC. THE TAHOE CAME OUT OF THE MEDIAN BROADSIDE, BACK INTO THE LEFT LANE & STOPPED. THE STEERING WHEEL NEVER MOVED DURING THIS ACCIDENT. THE STATE TROOPER SUGGESTED THAT THE FRONT WHEELS WERE LOCKED THE ENTIRE TIME BASED ON THE BLACK MARKS IN THE ROAD. ALSO, EVEN WITH A DIRECT SIDE IMPACT BY THE OTHER VEHICLE, THE SIDE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY.

OCCASIONAL LOSS OF POWER STEERING WAS EXPERIENCED EARLIER IN WEEK WHICH RESULTED IN A NEAR ACCIDENT WITH ONCOMING VEHICLES WHILE WIFE WAS DRIVING TO WORK. THE SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER NEAR ON UPCOMING SCHOOL AREA AND INTERSECTION RESULTED IN THE CAR STAYING ON A STRAIGHT PATH DURING A TURN AROUND 20-25 MPH UNTIL MY WIFE COULD LUCKILY MUSCLING THROUGH THE STEERING TO STRAIGHTEN VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO DEALER AND DIAGNOSED WITH FAILING OR FAILED POWER STEERING RACK BUT A PART WAS NOT IN STOCK. THE 2016 LTZ TAHOE HAS NOW LOST COMPLETE POWER STEERING ABILITIES AS WE WAIT FOR DEALER TO OBTAIN OEM REPLACEMENT PART.

AT LOW SPEED (GRIDLOCK TRAFFIC), BRAKE PEDAL BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO PRESS AND WOULD NOT FULLY STOP THE VEHICLE

GPS ANTENNA LEAKED WHILE PARKED IN RAIN. SATURATED HEAD LINER, STEERING WHEEL, AND DRIVER SEAT. WATER PUDDLED IN DRIVER FLOOR MAT. GPS SIGNAL LOST UNTIL THINGS DRIED OUT. ALSO HAS IMPACTED COLLISION AVOIDANCE SYSTEM. HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES IN LAST 2 MONTHS. PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT BECAUSE VEHICLE IS GARAGED MOST TIMES. DOESN'T OCCUR WHILE DRIVING DURING RAIN, ONLY WHEN VEHICLE IS PARKED AND WATER CAN STREAM IN THROUGH GAP ON BACKSIDE OF ANTENNA AND ENTER THE DEFECTIVE INNER SEAL. I HAVE SEEN MANY ACCOUNTS OF THIS ON FORUMS. GM NEEDS TO CONDUCT A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM.

ATTACHED IS A PICTURE OF THE CONDENSATION IN THE HEADLIGHTS ISSUE. IT JUST NEVER DRIES UP AND HAS BEEN LIKE THIS FOR OVER 6 MONTHS STRAIGHT. ALL THIS WATER BLOCKS THE HEADLIGHTS FROM WORKING PROPERLY AND SHINING CORRECTLY. IT INTERFERES WITH THE SAFETY OF MY HEADLIGHTS. I READ SEVERAL BLOGS OF OTHER TAHOE'S IN THIS AGE GROUP OF 2015, 2016 THAT ARE HAVING THIS VERY FRUSTRATING ISSUE. I BELIEVE IT SHOULD BE A RECALL AS THERE'S NO WAY I SHOULD BE HAVING TO REPLACE HEADLIGHTS FOR $750 EACH THIS SOON. IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE LIKE THIS.

I'VE USED THIS VEHICLE TO TOW MY BOAT. WHEN IN REVERSE AND BACKING BOAT INTO WATER AT BOAT RAMP I'VE APPLIED THE BRAKES AND IT SEEMS TO TAKE A SECOND OR TWO FOR THE BRAKES TO REACT MAKING IT FEEL LIKE THE VEHICLE IS STILL MOVING IN REVERSE. NOT SURE IF THIS AN ISSUE WITH THE RECENT BRAKE RECALL SEPT 2019 OR TRANSMISSION ISSUES.

AFTER VEHICLE HAS BEEN PARKED, WHEN PUT IN REVERSE TRYING TO BACK OUT OF A PARKING SPACE THE BRAKES DO NOT ACTIVATE AND BARELY CAN GET THE VEHICLE STOPPED. . IT HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. FEEL LIKE I CAN'T GET THE VEHICLE STOPPED EVEN PRESSING OR PUMPING THE BEAKES!! IT'S A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE I HIT SOMETHING. VERY SCARY! WHEN I SHIFT IT INTO DRIVE TO GO FORWARD THEY WORK JUST FINE.

THE CAR WAS PARKED. WE GOT IN & SHUT THE DOORS. WHEN I TRIED TO START THE CAR, THE DOORS LOCKED AUTOMATICALLY. I COULD NOT OPEN THE DOORS OR ROLL DOWN THE WINDOWS. IT WAS WELL OVER 100 DEGREES IN THE CAR. WE WERE TRAPPED IN THE CAR. WHILE ON THE PHONE WITH 911, I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO RELEASE THE DOOR LOCKS AND WE ESCAPED. THE DOORS AUTOMATICALLY LOCKED AND COULD NOT BE OPENED. EVIDENTLY THE BATTERY WAS DEAD AND THE SYSTEM SHUT DOWN. THERE WAS NO INDICATION THE BATTERY WAS LOW. HAVING DOORS AUTOMATICALLY LOCK AND BE DISABLED DUE TO A BATTERY IS A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD.

BRAKE PEDAL BECAME EXTREMELY HARD TO PUSH FIRST INSTANCE WAS SLOWING TO MAKE A RIGHT HAND TURN AFTER NEARLY CRASHING GOT VEHICLE STOPPED AFTER SITTING FOR A WHILE BRAKES RETURNED TO NORMAL OPERATION. SECOND INSTANCE BACKING INTO PARKING SPACE PETEL WENT TO FLOOR NO BRAKES THEN PETAL CAME UP AND WAS EXTREMELY HARD TO PRESS DOWN HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE IN THE PROCESS. AFTER A PERIOD OF TIME BRAKES WENT BACK TO NORMAL OPERATION.

THE GPS HAS A X THROUGH IT AND DOES GIVE DIRECTION AT ALL. THE ARROW ON THE MAP IS USUALLY IN THE MIDDLE OF NO WHERE,

TRUCK MILEAGE IS 48K. DROVE ABOUT 8 MILES TO RESTAURANT FOR DINNER AND ALL WAS NORMAL. CAME OUT OF RESTAURANT AND STARTED TRUCK IN PARKING GARAGE AND STEERING WHEEL WOULDN'T BUDGE WITHOUT GREAT EFFORT AND THEN ONLY IN HALF INCH INCREMENTS. TOOK A CAB HOME AND AND HAD TRUCK TOWED TO SPORT CHEVROLET FOR SERVICE. BRAKES REQUIRED REPLACEMENT OF THE VACUUM PUMP UNDER WARRANTY. THE STEERING RACK HAD TO BE REPLACED FOR $2880 NOT UNDER WARRANTY. ISSUE IS SUDDEN TOTAL STEERING RACK FAILURE WITH NO GRACEFUL DEGRADATION. SMELL OF GASOLINE. DEALERSHIP CHECKED THE VEHICLE AND AT FIRST COULD NOT DUPLICATE. THEN RIGHT BEFORE RETURNING THE VEHICLE BACK TO ME, THE DEALERSHIP WAS ABLE TO RECREATE THE SMELL. AFTER TESTING THEY RETURNED THE VEHICLE WITH A CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR TO BE KEPT INSIDE MY PASSENGER DOOR COMPARTMENT ON DRIVER SIDE. THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO COME UP WITH A DETERMINATION AS TO WHY THE SMELL WAS SO STRONG, BUT DID STATE THEY WERE ABLE TO RECREATE THE SMELL IN THE 2016 MODELS BUT NOT THE 2017S. THEY STATED THERE WAS NOTHING MORE THEY COULD DO UNLESS NEW COMPLAINTS ARE FILED. THE ODOR IS UNBEARABLE AT THIS POINT AND AM NOT WILLING TO HAVING MY LITTLE ONES CONTINUOUSLY EXPOSED TO THE TOXINS. THE SMELL HAPPENS UPON START OF THE VEHICLE. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW OFF LOT LESS THAN 50 MILES AND IT HAS BEEN AN ISSUE SINCE I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE.

BUT, AFTER MUCH RESEARCH, VIDEO REPLAY AND TRYING TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, I THINK I MIGHT UNDERSTAND HAPPENED. YOU CAN ACTUALLY PUT THE GEAR SHIFT LEVER IN A POSITION WHERE IT THINKS ITS IN PARK, WITHOUT THE TRANSMISSION BEING IN PARK. THE INDICATOR SAYS ITS IN PARK, AND THE DOORS UNLOCK, THINKING ITS IN PARK, BUT THE TRANSMISSION ISN'T ACTUALLY LOCKED IN PARK BECAUSE THE LEVER IS IN AN UP POSITION AND NOT BACK. IF YOU HIT THE POWER BUTTON WITH THE LEVER IN THIS UP POSITION, AND GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE WITHOUT LOOKING AT THE DISPLAY SAYING THE "SHIFT TO PARK", THE CAR CAN ROLL BECAUSE ITS ACTUALLY IN REVERSE. FOR ME NO DISPLAY SHOULD SAY ITS IN PARK IF ITS NOT.

I TRAILERED THE VEHICLE TO OUR HOME A FEW MILES AWAY. I DID NOTICE THE LONG BOLT HOLDING THE NEW COMPRESSOR WAS LOOSE (1/4" SPACE BETWEEN BOLT HEAD AND WASHER). I DO NOT WANT MY FAMILY'S LIFE IN DANGER JUST BECAUSE THE ISSUE CANNOT BE REPRODUCED WITH THE TRANSMISSION. I WAS ALSO TOLD THE SUSPENSION AND STEERING WAS FIXED, BUT I IMMEDIATELY NOTICED THE ISSUE PULLING OUT OF THE DEALERSHIP.THIS IS ANOTHER SAFETY CONCERN. I WAS TOLD THE NAVIGATION WAS FIXED, BUT THE NAVIGATION AND VOLUME PROBLEMS ARE HAPPENING MORE OFTEN THE LONGER I DRIVE THE VEHICLE. YET ANOTHER SAFETY CONCERN. IF THEY ARE GOING TO MAKE A CAR THAT SHAKES, NOT TELL THE CUSTOMER ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND THEN CHARGE OVER $50,000 FOR THE VEHICLE, SHAME ON THEM. THIS WILL BE THE LAST GM VEHICLE THAT I PURCHASE. I WILL ALSO GLADLY DISCOURAGE ANYONE LOOKING FOR AN SUV TO PURCHASE A GM VEHICLE.

THE CONDITION IS CONSTANT WHILE IN PARK IDLING AND SLLIGHY PRESENT WHEN IN DRIVE WITH BRAKE APPLIED.

THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,004.

IF LEFT IN DRIVE, (ELECTRIC START) NO BELLS OR ALARMS WENT OFF. DOORS WEREN'T LOCKED AS PERSON IN BACK SEAT WAS ABLE TO EXIT. WE WERE IN THE STORE FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES. ON VIDEO, THE TAHOE WAS IN ITS SPOT FOR QUITE A WHILE BEFORE ROLLING BACK. MY WIFE HAD THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. THERE WERE SEVERAL WITNESSES.

ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS, THE 2016 TAHOE I AM DRIVING HAS JUMPED FROM DRIVE TO NEUTRAL WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 45-60 MPH. ON ONE OCCASION, I WAS FORTUNATE TO AVOID A MAJOR ACCIDENT WHILE MERGING ON THE INTERSTATE. I HAVE SINCE TURNED THE VEHICLE IN. GM DEALERSHIPS IN BATON ROUGE, LA REFUSE TO FIX THE VEHICLE. I HAVE SEEN QUITE A FEW COMPLAINTS ON THIS SAME ISSUE AND HOPE THAT GM STEPS UP TO THE PLATE BEFORE SOMEONE DIES. OWNERS AROUND THE WORLD NEED TO BE NOTIFIED BECAUSE SOMEWHERE SOMEONE MAY HAVE ALREADY LOST THEIR LIVES IN AN ACCIDENT AND DID NOT LIVE TO TELL ABOUT WHY THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED. AFTER LETTING OFF ACCELERATOR WHEN THE ENGINE WINDS DOWN TO AROUND 3500 REVS IT SEVERELY ENGAGES INTO GEAR WITH A LOUD BANG AND JOLTS THE ENTIRE VEHICLE. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES AND IS GOING IN TO DEALERSHIP IN 4 DAYS. VEHICLE HAS 4473 MILES ON IT. VEHICLE ALSO HAS SEVERAL OTHER SEVERE ELECTRICAL ISSUES BUT AFTER EXHAUSTIVE PROCEDURE TO HAVE GM REPLACE OR BUY BACK VEHICLE THEY HAVE REFUSED. THIS IS MY FOURTH TAHOE AND WILL BE MY LAST. A LOYAL TAHOE OWNER FOR A LONG TIME AND THE NEW ONE IS THE WORSE. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR A VEHICLE OF OVER $77,000 AND LESS THAN 5000 MILES ON IT.

NO FURTHER CONTACT BY ME TO GM, OR FROM GM TO ME.

WHEN DRIVING, DRIVER AND PASSENGERS GET SEVERE HEADACHES, DIZZINESS, AND DISORIENTATION. THE CAR ALSO VIBRATES QUITE A BIT. THE PRESSURE INSIDE THE CABIN CAN BE FELT UPON TURNING ON THE VEHICLE, AND OPENING THE WINDOWS DOES NOT HELP. THE SENSATION ALMOST FEELS MAGNETIC. THE ORIGINAL TIRES FAILED A ROAD BALANCE TEST AND WERE REPLACED. THIS DID NOT HELP THE ISSUE.

TAHOE HAS A VIBRATION WHEN IT SHIFTS INTO V4 CONTINUES FROM 40MPH THROUGH 55 OR WHEN YOU PUSH ON THE ACCELERATOR. HAVE HAD IT IN SHOP THEY RESEALED THE BOWS IN THE ROOF , ROTATED TIRES , CHECKED THE EXHAUST NOTHING HAS FIXED. I THINK THE PROBLEM IS IN THE MOTOR WITH UNBURNED GASES WHEN IT SHIFTS INTO V4.

I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY LOOKED AT IT AND TOLD ME YES ITS A KNOWN ISSUE BUT GM HAS NO REPAIR PROCEDURE YET FOR IT.THE VEHICLE HAS 89 MILES ON IT, HAVE ONLY HAD THE VEHICLE FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS. THE WINDSHIELD IS PERFECTLY CLEAN AND NO OBSTRUCTIONS OF THE FRONT CAMERA. THE DEALERSHIP SAID I WILL HAVE TO LIVE WITH IT UNTIL THEY HAVE A FIX FOR IT. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE FRONT CAMERA RUNS MOST OF THE HIGHLY TOUTED SAFTEY FEATURES SUCH AS THE, FCA FORWARD COLLISION ALERT, LANE DEVIATION ALERT, EBS EMERGENCY BRAKING SYSTEM, AND ON AND ON...... SO NOW THE $70K+ VEHICLE THAT WAS HYPED UP TO BE SOOO SAFE FOR MY FAMILY NOW HAS MOST OF THE SAFTEY FEATURES NON -FUNCTIONING AND GM KNEW ABOUT THIS AND STILL CONTINUES TO SELL THE VEHICLE AND WONT REPAIR. THERE ARE ALSO MANY OTHER ELECTRICAL ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE, BUT WILL NOTIFY IN DIFFERENT REPORT. THIS IS TERRIBLE FOR A VEHICLE OF THIS CALIBER. IM A LOYAL AND DEDICATED PAST TAHOE OWNER BUT THIS ONE MAY BE GOING BACK. IM APPALLED THAT GM IS LETTING VEHICLES CONTINUE TO BE SOLD WITH KNOWN SAFTEY ISSUES ESPECIALLY SINCE THEY JUST GOT CAUGHT WITH THE WHOLE IGNITION SWITCH FIASCO.
