My brakes are very squeaky and loud 3 months into buying my brand new car its been squeaking and the dealership is ignoring my issue they said my breaks were fine and tbe pads have alot of life left Its been a year and its still making noise
I have had a constant squeek with my brakes since the day I got the car.
I took my vehicle in several times for issues regarding the brakes. I was told for months nothing was wrong. The brake percentage was rapidly declining on the display and they just kept saying it would fix itself in an update. Finally the service brake alert came on prompting me to take it to the dealership again for the brakes. I was told my front brakes were completely gone and needed new pads and rotors and my back brake lines were severed and pouring brake fluid everywhere. I was told I was lucky I brought it when I did because I could have gone to stop and just not been able to. It was concerning because there was no warning or indication there was anything wrong and I kept being told everything was fine
Back in December 2025 took car in because there was a coolant leak until the car started. Alerting me that it was overheating in the middle of the freeway. I had to find a place to pull over while the car was alerting. With urgent urgent urgent alert to pull over. Took it into dealership and it Turns out it had a coolant hose leak . I took the car in for an oil change TODAY and turns out has a host leak again. The dealer did the inspection and I don’t have the part available to fix it. And this is a brand new car giving me issues. I travel far on weekend so this would be hazzard. The dealer said the water tank low because of the leak. It’s also the rear backseat window would not go Thank you It’s leaking, and that’s a safety issue. Because if there’s Down emergency, we can roll the window down. We also had an issue with the break pad alert system alert me. There was no brakes. It turned out to be in update issue and again I was going to travel on vacations. Those are other issues. I’ve had with the car but the maintenance issue today is at the clothes again is leaking and is a safety hazard because if I’m driving and the car and it overheats.
On the car seat there are two indicators to tell you if the seat is locked in place because it is a rotating car seat. Both indicators never fully go in the “green” meaning the seat is fully locked into place. The car seat is less than two years old and both indicators are malfunctioning, they aren’t going fully in the green. I reached out to the company with pictures and videos and they have done nothing to help. They said from the video it looks like the car seat is functioning properly and they will not fix or replace it.
Car stalled in middle of intersection. Had to get out push it out of the way turned on again after trying few times. Stalled again at stop sign won’t turn on locked out turned off car tried few more times got out pushed it out of the way tried few more times turned on again.
At purchase, I noticed that the brakes felt spongy and were screeching when the salesmen pulled up. The salesmen stated that new brakes always screech due to burned plastic. Weeks later, I scheduled a servicing appointment with Chevy Crews in North Charleston, due to brake screeching, the repairmen told me again that the brakes had condensation on them, so he dusted them off and the screeching would stop in 3 weeks. 3 weeks later I returned again, the salesmen told me that GMC made the vehicles with faulty brakes. My vehicle was seen over 4 times for screeching brakes, thousands of consumers have complained about the same issue, and GMC has failed to act.
The 2024 Chevy Traverse has super cruise. It is basically an auto drive feature. It has sensors in the top part of the steering wheel. This plastic area is known for cracking and the dealership said there is nothing they can do. This is absurd. They know there is an issue with the wheels cracking and they are not fixing them under the warranty.
Vehicle driving 32 miles an hour had sudden brake failure. The brakes did not work. Then, the vehicle had the following faults; ESC fault, traction and stability control fault, brake system fault, air conditioning failure (blowing hot air while 92 degrees out), lane assist fault, power steering fault. The vehicle almost slammed into traffic as it could not stop. The vehicle has 14872 miles.
Approximately four weeks ago on 02/03/2026, during rainy conditions, the brakes on the vehicle did not function properly, creating a serious safety concern. At the same time, a hose connected broke and there was a strong burning smell coming from the vehicle. I also noticed fluid leaking from the vehicle. I immediately took the vehicle to the dealership for repair, and the vehicle remained there for approximately five days for inspection, parts, and repair. Additionally, this is now my third time bringing the vehicle in for service. During previous visits, I asked the service department about the condition of my brakes because they were making a squeaking noise and I was concerned about their performance. I was told by the service department that the brakes were fine, that I still had plenty of brake life remaining, and that the squeaking noise was normal. However, as of March 4, 2026, my vehicle displayed a new warning message stating “Service Brake Pad Monitor – Front Brakes.” This is concerning because the vehicle currently has approximately 25,490 miles. Given the previous brake concerns I reported and the dealership’s response that the brakes were normal, the new warning message raises additional concerns about the safety and reliability of the braking system. Because this defect involves the braking system and creates a safety concern, I am requesting that General Motors review my case under the applicable Lemon Law and advise me on the next steps toward either a vehicle replacement or buyback if the issue cannot be fully resolved.
Vehicle overheated while driving on interstate in 32F weather. No warnings lights warning of low coolant - only noticed climbing temperature gauge and cooling fans running at full speed. Pulled over and drove slowly to nearest exit with service station. Found coolant reservoir completely empty but with no obvious leaks. Chevrolet dealer diagnosed leaking radiator hose - typical with numerous social media report of similar issue with the 2024 model year Chev Traverse Generation 3.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The front and rear brake system is malfunctioning. Both front and rear rotors have developed significant premature heat “hot spots,” causing loud, persistent squealing and excessive heat from the front wheels. It began with the front brakesm July 2025 and as of October 2025 the rear brakes had the same issues. This vehicle is available for inspection upon request. ----- How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? This issue involves the primary braking system. The front and rear brakes become excessively hot and produce loud, constant squealing. I am concerned about potential brake drag, caliper malfunction, or premature rotor damage, which could reduce braking efficiency or lead to brake failure. Because this affects stopping performance, it presents a potential safety risk to myself, passengers, and others on the road. ---- Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. The Chevrolet dealership confirmed that both front and rear rotors have heat hot spots and advised replacement of the rotors and brake pads. Although I replaced the front break parts as suggested this did not repairthe issues. The vehicle is currently under review by a GM technician, but they have delayed a response sense January 14, 2026. ----- Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Yes. The vehicle was inspected by a Chevrolet dealership and reviewed by a GM technician. It has not been inspected by police or insurance representatives. --- There were no dashboard warning lights. The primary symptom was loud, persistent squealing from the front and rear brakes and noticeable premature heat spots on all the roters. The noise developed within approximately one year of ownership and at relatively low mileage for a new vehicle.
This was one of about ten times this has randomly happened when using Super Cruise. We were heading south on I-41 and super cruise is active and set around 80 mph, I entered an area where Super Cruise became unavailable or the system indicates that road information is not available, the vehicle immediately began to rapidly decelerate to under 60 mph within 5 seconds of the vehicle notifying me with red bar on steering wheel and one buzz of my seat. Causing serious concern for safety of my family in the vehicle. During this deceleration, I am unable to override or stop it — pressing the brake pedal does not cancel the slowdown, applying the accelerator has no effect, and no control buttons will disengage Super Cruise. All pedals are dead. All buttons to cancel do not disengage what the CAR is doing. The vehicle continues to slow down on its own, which poses a significant safety risk on highways and interstates.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while driving out of the dealer's parking lot at 4-5 MPH and depressing the accelerator pedal, the messages "Service ESC System" and "Brake System Failure - Press Hard to Brake - Do Not Drive" were displayed, and the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to respond while depressing the brake pedal, and the vehicle rolled to a stop. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where the failure was associated with the braking system. The dealer disconnected and reconnected the battery, and the dealer cleared the codes. The dealer informed the contact that the vehicle was repaired and returned the vehicle to the contact; however, the contact stated that the dealer had failed to determine the cause of the failure and to perform an adequate repair of the vehicle. Additionally, the contact stated that the brakes had been making an abnormal squeaking sound while the brake pedal was depressed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was filed; however, the contact had not yet been contacted. The failure mileage was 16,876.
The contact's wife owns a 2024 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while his wife was driving 60 MPH, the brake pedal was depressed and went to the floorboard, and the vehicle failed to respond. The driver engaged the parking brake; however, the vehicle failed to respond. The driver swerved to avoid the vehicle in front, drove over an incline, jerked the steering wheel, and the vehicle eventually stopped. The message "Braking Module System Failure" was displayed. The contact stated that the incident was frightening for his wife and his two children, who were also inside the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was acknowledged that the braking system module and the parking brake had failed; however, no official diagnostic information was provided. The vehicle was repaired under warranty, and the contact was advised that the vehicle was drivable; however, the contact advised the dealer that there were safety concerns because the cause of the failure was not yet determined, and there was no guarantee that the failure would not recur. The vehicle was driven back to the residence, although the contact remained concerned. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was filed, but no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 28,000.
The car has a check engine light. Code reads P3075. The app shows an Engine Cooling System error. Please schedule service now. The dealer diagnosed the issue: the coolant pipe to the radiator has failed and needs to be replaced. The part is on backorder, and there is no ETA for the repair.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that after arriving at the intended destination and turning off the vehicle, the vehicle failed to restart. There was no warning light illuminated; however, the OnStar App notified the contact that the battery voltage was low. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, but the cause of the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.
I experienced complete brake failure while coming up to an intersection during rush hour. To avoid crashing into the vehicles in front of me I went off the road onto the shoulder and coasted until I stopped. During this “brake failure” popped up on my dash. (I have a picture) I ended up turning the car off and then starting it back up. Everything appeared to be fine, however I was not fine. I called the dealership right away and brought in. They diagnosed it as needing brake master cylinder and it took about 30 days for the vehicle to get fixed. Now I’m experiencing transmission fluid leaking. The vehicle shudders when accelerating.
My vehicle began to really wobble and shake so I brought the vehicle to the closest tire shop. They told me right away that the belt broke on one of my tires, the tire was bulging, and the tire was beginning to split apart. Then he showed me how the other front tire was beginning to do the same. He said had I not taken it there, it would have soon blown out. This is a serious safety concern. My vehicle is less than 2 years old and has 28,000 miles on it. Bridgestone tires should last at least between 50-60,000 miles. Tire: 255/65R18 111T M&S.
This has happened two times. Driving down the road between 35-55mph. "Speed limited drive with care" no CEL. Took to dealer, advised with a CEL or no codes nothing they could do for it. Multiple nights I get home and the fan stays running after engine shutdown. Engine overheat within 10 min of drive time. OIL SMELLS LIKE FUEL. This time engine throttles back and nearly caused accident with not being able to merge.
I am filing this complaint regarding a persistent and unresolved defect with my 2024 Chevrolet Traverse, VIN: [XXX] . The first occurrence of this issue was in June 2025. Since then, the vehicle has repeatedly experienced a “Check Engine” warning, engine misfires (cylinder misfire), loss of power while driving, and severe engine shaking. These symptoms make the vehicle unsafe to operate. The vehicle has been taken to an authorized Chevrolet dealership approximately 20 times for the same ongoing issue. Despite multiple repair attempts, the problem has never been permanently resolved. In total, the vehicle has spent about three months out of service at the dealership. As of January 14, 2026, after the vehicle has been at the dealership for over two weeks, I was informed that the dealer is unable to repair the vehicle. They have escalated the case to the manufacturer, General Motors, because they cannot identify a permanent solution. The current mileage of the vehicle is approximately 41,700 miles. This ongoing defect makes the vehicle unreliable and unsafe for normal use. The repeated failures to repair suggest a potential manufacturing or design defect rather than an isolated incident. I respectfully request that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration review this matter and determine whether an investigation or further action is warranted. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
I am experiencing a recurring battery/charging system detection warning with my vehicle that has not been resolved despite multiple service visits. The warning continues to reappear after the vehicle is returned to me, indicating the issue has not been properly diagnosed or repaired. My vehicle has been in the shop approximately 5 times for this same issue. Each time, I am told the problem is resolved or that they cannot replicate the issue, yet the warning returns shortly afterward. To date, no permanent fix has been provided, and the underlying problem has not been remedied. I have made repeated attempts to work with GM and the dealership, but meaningful assistance or escalation has not occurred. This ongoing electrical issue raises concerns about the reliability and safety of the vehicle, as well as GM’s failure to correct a known, documented problem. I am requesting appropriate escalation and resolution, including further diagnostic intervention by a regional service manager or field engineer, or consideration of alternative remedies if the issue cannot be permanently repaired.
I got my 2024 traverse little over a year ago. So far I had bring it in 3 times now first I got oil change and they told me something leaking from back so I went chevy and the transmission was leaken bolts wasn't put in all the way. Also my breaks said they was due I bring back to them they said its a sensor probelm they just turned it off. Now im back again horse is Crack and they said I could come get the car and drive it that it would be fine just to keep checking collent.i got 38,000 miles
Recurring failures related to brake system. When reversing, the rear brake assist system slams on the brakes for no reason even though no obstacles are present. This startles everyone in the vehicle and nearby traffic. On other occasions, the vehicle shows an error on the instrument cluster stating "Rear Brake Assist Unavailable". More recently, a persistent error began appearing on the instrument cluster stating "Service Brake Monitor", indicating a failure of the brake pad sensor. On top of all of this, the brakes are noisy and squeaky to the point where it wakes up my neighbors.
Vehicle experienced uncommanded automatic emergency braking with no warnings or obstacles present. Sudden hard braking caused fear of collision. Children were in vehicle as well as two adults. Vehicle has prior collision repairs. Owner fears highway driving due to risk of recurrence.
My car is leaking coolant. There is no warning light or anything. Had to be towed to the dealership. Dealership confirms the truck is not driveable and needs an upper radiator hose which is on backorder until January. There aren't any loaner vehicles according to the dealership.
To date, I have brought the vehicle to the service department four times, primarily due to the check engine light and other critical malfunctions. Below is a summary of the incidents: First Visit (approx July 2024): The vehicle suddenly lost acceleration while I was in traffic, leaving me stranded in the roadway. This posed a serious safety risk. The vehicle remained in the shop for 28 days. Second Visit (September 29, 2024): Multiple warning lights illuminated, and several diagnostic codes were detected. Third visit (do not recall the issue): Will find work orders if needed Most Recent Visit (December 3, 2025): A coolant leak caused the temperature gauge to spike, resulting in the air conditioning shutting off due to overheating. The next day the check engine light came on. I had no warning prior to the guage spiking. In addition to these major issues, the following concerns remain unresolved: Brakes continue to squeal. The dealership advised this is normal and that front brakes wear faster. Reverse sensor activates randomly, causing the brakes to engage abruptly. Also the front crash sensor triggers without any obstruction ahead. The dealership recommended disabling this safety feature. These recurring problems raise serious safety concerns and significantly impact the reliability of the vehicle. The advice to disable safety features is unacceptable and does not address the underlying issues.
Purchased my vehicle brand new in October 2024 and around 3000 miles give or take the front brakes started to squeal. I reported the issue to the dealership on several occasions and was told this is normal due to dust, etc. I have owned 3 brand new vehicles in my lifetime and I have never had this issue with a brand new vehicle with 3000 miles or less on a vehicle; especially a vehicle purchased for almost $60,000. My vehicle currently has 17,000 miles and the squealing continues just as it was at 3,000 miles. My front brakes currently show 18% brake life left on the dash in the vehicle status. This is unheard of for a brand new vehicle to be needing brakes this soon. Which would explain the squealing brakes, they have placed cheap brakes, rotors, etc on this new model. If it weren't for this vehicle status feature showing the life remaining for each component, I could possibly unknowingly experience brake failure and would not have been aware that the brakes were at the end of life so soon; almost less than a year from purchase. This issue needs to be addressed with the manufacturer and looked into before someone driving a brand new vehicle, thinking they still have good brake life ends up killing themselves or someone else due to brake failure.
Coolant radiator failure at 15,000 miles no available fix from Chevrolet
The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse includes Front Pedestrian Braking and Rear Cross Traffic Braking as part of its standard Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). However, these systems tend to malfunction on rainy days when the sensors become wet. In such conditions, the vehicle may brake abruptly even when there are no hazards in front or behind. For example, while attempting to drive around a vehicle waiting to make a left turn at an intersection, my Traverse suddenly stopped in the middle of the intersection, incorrectly detecting a potential collision. Another frequent issue occurs when backing out of my driveway on rainy days. The system applies the brakes, mistaking raindrops for obstacles. Due to these recurring problems, I have deactivated the safety systems and now drive without them enabled. This situation not only creates inconvenience for me as a driver but also poses risks to other road users if the vehicle stops unexpectedly in traffic. Additionally, repeated hard braking can lead to premature wear of braking components.
My 2024 Chevy Traverse is leaking coolant within the radiator hose system. While driving on a busy interstate, the vehicle went into protective limp mode reducing acceleration, creating a dangerous situation for myself to manage. A check engine light did come on with the reduced acceleration notice. I am having to add coolant to the vehicle constantly to drive it. Parts on our national back order now due to the huge influx of others experiencing similar issues. Dealership has confirmed leak - however I’m told it is not covered until manufacturer warranty and can be costly to repair!
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Defective brake causing sudden brake loss How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Yes Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Not yet Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Not yet Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? After the incident a message appear on the dashboard
Engine light came on . Warning low coolant turn car off engine over heating. Fan still running after turning off. Happen several times. Serveral days. Took in in to dealership because still under warranty. No longer car available despite under warranty. Also breaks alerted low break pad life in around July 2025 and took it in the dealer and said it was a update not completed.
-The radiator hose malfunctioned and began to leak fluids onto my garage floor for 7 straight days. -My safety as well as others on the road were at risk because at anytime my vehicle could have lost all coolant and overheated. -The problem was confirmed by the service team at my dealership when I dropped it off for diagnosis. -There was absolutely no warning lamps or messages prior to failure. The only symptom was the leaking from under the car on the front driver side. The issues first appeared on Saturday November 29th 2025.
Engine overheating light comes on, car leaking fluid. Possible radiator or radiator hose. Unsafe to drive breaks are squeaky and bad.
Bought vehicle on 11/28/25. By 11/30/25, brakes squealing and large puddle of coolant in driveway. Took back to dealer on 12/1/25, told special radiator hose that is on backorder all over country. Unknown ETA.
Squeaky breaks Coolant leak Engine heating warning Check enginelight comes on after each gas visit Car sounded super load when engine is running due to constant coolant leaks Car doesn’t feel safe to drive with 4 young kids!
My 2024 Traverse was delivered with defective third-row seat headrests that do not return to their normal upright position after being folded, compromising passenger head and neck protection in a collision. On October 28, 2025, the vehicle developed a coolant leak confirmed by the dealer, but repairs have been delayed due to a national parts backorder, creating a risk of engine overheating or sudden breakdown while driving. Additionally, the front brakes began squeaking excessively about one year into my ownership, and the brake pad wear sensor shows only 18% life remaining at 18,454 miles, which raises concerns about reduced braking efficiency and increased stopping distance. All issues have been reported to an authorized dealer and remain unresolved except for the third-row headrests. These conditions pose significant safety risks to occupants and other road users.
Upper radiator hose leak with 20k miles. Coolant reservoir was completely emptied. Hose needed to be replaced on top of a parts not in stock. No warnings to overheating or coolant leak. Also Brakes squeal since day of purchase.
The upper hose is leaking and vehicle is losing coolant
Radiator leaking fluid from top right of radiator. Hose is dry where it connects to radiator, but coolant is leaking down the right side of the radiator, starting at the top.
Completely disgusted with Chevy traverse. Upper radiator hose busted and radiator leaks at seem, squeaky brakes since day one purchased then sensor on brakes went bad causing it to say brakes are less than they actually are says 18% and it’s actually 88% caused the engine light to come on ppl can’t afford a payment and be at the dealer all the time and without transportation. It’s my only vehicle and I need it fixed but everyone says part is back ordered or something this is a shitty vehicle Chevy needs to pay to replace brakes sensor hoses and radiators even if it’s past factory warranty these vehicles cost to much not to last past 36,000. Ridiculous there needs to be a recall this is becoming a very well known problem Chevy should have to cover to fix it and make it right and provide a vehicle while it’s in the shop. Very upset with Chevy and it’s quality and this needs to be recalled asap
Coolant hose has broke twice. Happened 4/22/25 and 12/3/2025
Break pads wear unevenly after only 20 thousand miles and need to be replaced.
Grinding/ squeaky brakes. Worse after sitting for a while, like first drive of the day. Seem better after warming upm
At around 22,000 miles my vehicle went into reduced power mode with no indication of why. This happened while I was going up a steep hill and the reduction of power slowed my vehicle dramatically, and I was nearly rear ended. The vehicle had no check engine light on until the next morning. I got the check engine light read at Autozone and they indicated that it was for a coolant pump. When i checked the coolant reservoir, it was empty. I added GM approved coolant and the check engine light turned off, but I had already set up for the vehicle to be serviced at Earnhardt GMC, so I still took it in on 9/19/25. They had my vehicle there for 5 days and said it was a valve that was causing a leak, and they had replaced it. On 10/12/25, my vehicle went into reduced power mode on the freeway again. I still had no check engine light. I had to wait until the morning to take it into the dealership again. In the morning the check engine light came on again, so the dealership was able to read it and it was the same code as before. This time they only needed the vehicle over night, and said the coolant leak was from a bad water pump. on October 27th, my vehicle once again went into reduced power mode on the freeway, and again no check engine light. The next morning the check engine light was present and I again took my vehicle to Earnhardt GMC to have it diagnosed. Once again it had the same code. The next day I received a text message from my service advisor, that the issue was from the radiator hose and that they will be ordering it. So at this point I am in a rental car that was covered by my warranty. I asked if they had any updates 2 days later, and was told they didn't. On 11/3/25, while looking at a Facebook group for 2024 Traverse owners, I saw a number of people with the same issue I was having and getting month long ETAs for repair. It was later confirmed that my part will not be available until between 12/16/25-12/30/25. My vehicle is currently still at the dealership.
"Phantom Braking" with over 13 events the 2024 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE LT unexpected and abrupt activated the Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system when there was no obstacle, vehicle, or collision risk present! If an Mac Truck was behind us tailgating at the time we would have been killed! The dealer is downplaying the issue acting like they have never seen this before. They question is we know what AEB is and how it works "WE DO!". On top of that the 2024 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE LT breaks are completely defective. Deal inspected them on 6/25/2025 then we purchased on 8/14 drove it for 2,290 miles and they claim the breaks needed replacement. So we paid for that and still the breaks make a bad grinding sound and it is hard to stop the SUV. Please investigate ;(
Coolant/Radiator Hose leaking - noticed leak on driveway , no messages or warnings , Leak is being reported on numerous chevy traverse vehicles, needs a recall before it becomes a safety concern
I had my upper radiator hose leaking coolant after only owning this brand new vehicle about a year and half. Has less then 20,000 miles on it. I was able to get it into a Chevy dealer and they confirmed the leak. Seems the original part was defective. Was told I could take it home and drive it until the part came in(no eta on that) but to monitor the levels of coolant. Within two days I had a huge puddle of coolant in my driveway and had to bring it back to the dealer immediately. Thankfully I had coolant on hand and was able to refill the reservoir to make it to the dealer. This is a big concern because this is my wife’s car that she uses primarily to transport our two young children around. Thankfully she didn’t get stranded somewhere.
My vehicle began to leak heavily from the front drivers side- under carriage. No warning lamps, On Star notifications came on but the vehicle was loosing a lot of coolant which could result in the engine overheating. I took it to the dealership and they diagnosed that I needed a lower radiator hose- this needed to be replaced. The part that is needed is on back order until end of December.
I was leaking coolant and took to the dealer. They say it's my upper radiator hose and it needs replaced but it's on a nationwide back order. I was at 42000 miles and was not covered under warranty. I'm reading that a ton of people having the exact same issue and nobody knows why are recall hasn't been issued on this. This can't be good for the environment having a bunch of traverse vehicles leaking coolant all over the country. Also a safety issue as your car can over heat!
After only having the vehicle for one year, we found a big puddle underneath our vehicle. Not knowing what this liquid was and just thinking that it was the air conditioning. We continue to drive it while driving at one afternoon. The car told me to stop immediately as my engine had overheat overheated. We are now stuck in a rental until further notice due to the upper radiator hose needing replaced. It concerns me that a vehicle so new is out of order for so long that if it were to have any more issues, I would out of a vehicle again
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while depressing the brake pedal, the brakes made a squeaking sound. The ABS warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times. The dealer diagnosed that the brakes had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The ABS warning light was no longer illuminated. The vehicle was returned to the dealer, who was unable to diagnose or repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, opened a case, and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.
The problem I have it the cover that is on the roof of my car that I am assuming of for the antenna has fallen off.
Our Traverse spontaneously caught fire.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 MPH, the Brake Assist Fault warning light illuminated, and the vehicle failed to stop in adequate time. The contact applied more pressure to the brake pedal for the brakes to properly engage. The contact was able to drive the vehicle home, while needing to apply excessive pressure to the brake pedal and allow for additional stopping distance while depressing the brake pedal. The dealer was contacted, and an appointment was scheduled, but the vehicle was not taken to the dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 76,000.
Brake monitor alert came on, car is only a year old, lots of people claiming same thing in the Chevy owners group on fb
2024 Chevy Traverse transmission failed at 5,200 miles while exiting a major interstate. Vehicle struggled to downshift and switch gears. Transmission fluid leaked excessively while driving and parked. The vehicle was not drivable after failure. Unreliable and clunky acceleration and slowing down put passengers, including children - especially those in the rear-most seat - in danger. The problem was confirmed by the dealer. No further inspection outside of the dealership has occurred. There were no warnings prior to the failure or even during the failure. It wasn't until 20 minutes after the first observation of unusual handling, when an attempt to put the vehicle in reverse was made, that the notification was on the dashboard. When starting the vehicle 18 hours later to take a photo of the exact mileage, no alert was on the dash at all.
On July 31st, while backing up on a clear road in rain the brakes locked suddenly. The brakes applied & a message saying Emergency Parking brake engaged. Must be manually released. This happened twice in a 30 second period before there was enough room for me to pull forward out of the spot. I called the dealership on August 1st to see if this was a known issue and they said no. Brought the car in on August 2nd. They scanned for errors & found a message Lost Communication with Parking Assist Control Module with 9 other error message. They said this was not a known problem and to them it appeared to fix itself but would let me know if there was any way to fix. Car has just been in for regular multi point inspection on July 24th. On August 20th went to get in the car but none of the key fobs would open it. Called two dealerships but neither could come up with answer. Chevy Roadside was called & came to get into the car and ended up jumping it. At that time the battery was tested and it appeared fine. It was recommended to run it for a half hour. I ended up driving it for an hour with no extras on. On August 25th the next day I went to drive it the battery of this 1 year old car was dead. Called the two dealerships to see what could be done & was told to bring it in. Called Chevy Roadside Assistance who dispatched someone to open the car and jump the battery. This person found the battery was not holding a charge & said nothing when I said I was driving it to the dealership. Got 3 houses away & a message that the Brakes have failed. Press hard to brake popped up. In addition the steering locked up. I missed hitting a lady with a kid in a stroller by 6 ft but managed to get it to the curve & with 3 pushes into park. It was towed to the dealership. When it arrived at the dealership the brakes locked up so it would not back up off the flatbed. It had to be forced off. Dealer blames poor battery but can't explain July 31st or why battery readouts say okay.
Emergency brake engaged while driving in reverse causing the vehicle to abruptly stop 3 times leaving the driveway. This continues to occur as we left the house moving forward decelerating the vehicle. My [XXX] infants were in the vehicle causing them to scream, and this defect could have easily caused a crash. I no longer feel safe driving the suv. We proceed to call the dealership we purchased it from (Rick Hendricks Chevrolet of Naples) Spoke with management the guys name was Jack. He said this is an ongoing issues they are working on and told us to bring it in. I’m not driving this vehicle on the highway an hour away so we are now escalating the situation to headquarters. The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that upon entering the vehicle after rainfall, the contact became aware that there was rainwater on the passenger’s seat. The contact stated that the water had entered the vehicle through the sunroof. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the sunroof housing and the passenger’s side drain hose were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 53,494.
Bought 2024 Traverse end of June 2024 from show room at Flow Cheverolet in Salem, NC. In Sept 2024, took it in for glitchy screen/radio black and colorful lines displayed, squeeky brakes, and dashboard rattling when hitting 60+ miles. Chevy fixed the screen but said they could not do anything about brakes or the rattling of the dashboard. March 2025- brakes still squeeked and brake failure message came on, took in they had to order and replace brake sensore. I informed them that when backing up the automatic brakes come on stopping the car when no vehicles are coming would take 3 to 4 tries to back out from driveway but this problem was not addressed. July 2025- check engine came on, was told cylinders 2 injection pulse offset exceeded minimum learning limit suppositely just needed some STP August 2025- check engine came on again took in to Cheverlote they said they needed to order and replace Fuel injection pump because it was faulty, but that day recieved a text from the car saying battery was dieing while at Cheverolet service department. Car has been at the service department for over a week and they still can't figure out why its not holding charge. Battery has been replace twice while at their shop. Most important issue the millage is stating it has 25,400miles but we know for sure we have not traveled or driven but maybe half that millage in the pass year and chevy's mechanic is stating there is no way for them to confirm that. Too many issues for a car bought brand new only a year ago and because of the faulty odameter we only have about 10,000 miles left of warranty.
08/08/2025 Brake system failure. Went through an intersection and was not able to stop. Dealer found internal leak in the master cylinder/hydraulic BPMV assembly. Warning lights and messages did not come on until the moment of failure. Had no warning before.
noise will develope (sounds like going over rumble strips) than the steering wheel gets a vibration and when you leave go of the steering wheel it begins to shake and becomes more profound (I have video). this also becomes more profound when applying the brakes.
DRIVERSIDE TURN SIGNAL HAS GONE OUT 2X WITHIN A YEAR AND ITEM IS NOW BACK ORDERED WITH NO ETA. the first time this happened was 02/2025 the second time 8/2025
I was taking my daughter to school; we were about 5 minutes from our home. I came up to a red light and stopped no problem, it turned green and as I proceeded through the intersection to the next red light to make my left-hand turn to get on the freeway, my rearview mirror camara flickered and that was my first indication that something was wrong. After that the ac started turning on and off and my dash lights all started lighting up. Fortunately, I was only going about 15-20 mph, so I was able to get the car to stop without incident. I had a few seconds to decide what to do, I determined that making a U-turn when the light turned green was the safest option, that's when I realized I had no power steering. I was able to safely get the car back to my driveway and called a tow truck. The car is now at JK Chevrolet Nederland, Tx and now waiting to hear diagnostic.
Right rear brake light and turn signal are not operating, making an unsafe driving condition. Vehicle taken to dealership and parts on back order preventing unsafe condition to be corrected.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while attempting to open the hatch, the hatch opened and then unintendedly lowered within seconds. The contact stated that her husband had sustained a minor injury to the head while placing groceries in the vehicle when the hatch closed. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the rear hatch motor was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 12,000.
Was out of town and at that time was in the highway when notification came up advising no brake pad life and brakes started squeaking. Took it to dealership next day and was advised there is a problem with the master brake cylinder which is in nation wide back order. Has been at the dealership since then
Experienced severe vibrations while driving and when I got out of the car there was a burning smell coming from inside the driver's side front tire. No warning light or messages on my dash. Brought to the dealer to find that the master brake cylinder is defective and I am currently waiting over a month to have it repaired as the parts are unavailable.
When a lighter driver is operating the vehicle the seat will move and make a clicking noice causing a safety concern when the vehicle accelerates or stops. This happens only when a lighter driver is operating the vehicle with a weight of around 160 lbs. it does not have the same issue with heavier drivers but does cause concern for the safety of the vehicle in the event something were to happen when operating the vehicle. Have taken to dealership twice with no resolution. Those that were testing the safety of the vehicle were larger than the person who normally operates the vehicle experiencing the problem and no resolution was provided after both of the visits to the dealership.
While making a left turn in a residential area, I slightly accelerated and noticed the RPM's shot up significantly. The vehicle did not shift as expected and felt like it was stuck in higher gear or slipping. Even after I let off the gas, the RPM's remained high longer than normal. This created a moment where the vehicle did not respond predictably, which could have put myself and others at risk if traffic had been heavier. The vehicle has approximately 16,500 miles. There were no warning lights, error messages, or sounds at the time. I did request for the issue to be recorded in my service record. The component suspected to be at fault is transmission or the transmission control system. This is concerning given the low mileage and recent model year.
I bought my car May 26th. It started shaking when coming to a complete stop shortly after the purchase. I have taken but back to the shop 3 times and this last one it has been in the shop a month with no end date. The dealership states they don’t know how to go about fixing it.
We have experienced phantom AEB warnings and braking (60+ warnings w/o braking, around 10 brake activations) since owning the vehicle a little over a year now, purchased new. We took it into the dealer in May to have it addressed and they determined the AEB system was inoperable due to a defective front camera (windshield). After replacement and reprogramming, we picked up the vehicle and noticed a decreased sensitivity to our rear/side alerts AND ZERO forward AEB or proximity alerts of any kind. Not car, pedestrian, object or wall. Forward AEB alerts were completely disabled. Additionally, the vibrating safety seat which was previously inoperable (we assumed our car didn't have it) was on and functioning for all side/some rear alerts. We took the car back into the dealer and after 5+ days they determined it was a "faulty batch of cameras" and they replaced the front facing camera again. Today, we picked up the vehicle, being told everything was tested and reset so functioning properly- with our 3rd new forward camera. Yet, the AEB system was clearly inoperable again, zero front facing AEB/collision/proximity alerts - even though all settings 'on.' Rear alerts still seemed delayed and less accurate than before we brought the vehicle in the first time. I returned the vehicle to dealer and demonstrated again. My service rep agreed - it does not seem like it's just the front facing camera and must be a larger issue electronic issue. To date, I've been in contact with GM corporate executive team and have very little real concern or amelioration of these QC issues with the vehicle. We have spent over 20 days in the shop within 12mo. They refuse to acknowledge that there significant defect with the vehicle to warrant repurchase. These safety issues are only part of what appears to be serious QC deficiencies that put my family at risk. My wife and kids are in this car 98% of the time. I have video documentation from both camera repairs if you want to see them.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, several unknown warning lights illuminated indicating brake failure. The contact depressed the brake pedal and stood on the brake pedal and the vehicle stopped. The contact turned off the vehicle. While attempting to restart the vehicle, there was an unknown warning light illuminated. The vehicle was driven to the residence. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the gear shifter independently shifted into park and the vehicle independently turned off. The vehicle was towed to the dealer however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The contact stated that the vehicle had been at the dealer for thirty days. The contact was informed that a diagnostic test provided no information of a failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 9,010. The VIN was not available.
Incident 1 - Dashboard Electrical Failure Date: June 11, 2025 Mileage: approx. 10,000 Problem: Multiple dashboard error lights activated simultaneously, including false "dead battery" warnings despite the vehicle starting normally. The vehicle could not be shifted into gear and could not be shut off through normal ignition procedures, requiring manual battery disconnection to resolve. Incident 2 - Power Steering System Failure Date: June 12-13, 2025 Problem: Complete power steering failure. Temporary resolution achieved by battery disconnection and reconnection, indicating systemic electrical issues. Incident 3 - CAN Bus Communication System Failure Date: July 6 and 9, 2025 Problem: Check engine light with diagnostic code U0073, indicating Controller Area Network (CAN) bus communication failure - a critical vehicle system malfunction. On July 11, 2025 my wife had the oil changed and the mechanic assured her, “It’s just a glitch ma'am, like a computer. Just restart the car 2 or 3 times.” Incident 4 - Recurring Power Steering Failure Date: July 12, 2025 Problem: “Service ESC and Power Steering”. Power steering system failed again, demonstrating that previous "fixes" were ineffective and the underlying defect persists.
My vehicles battery died, camera systems unavailable, cruising systems unavailable, breaking system breaker on clear highway at 55MPH with my kids in the back. The car is faulty!! 8+ months now waiting on a resolution! 7+ service visits now I’m being ignored!!
Brake on driver side front became super hot and started dragging causing the steering wheel to shake. Dealership stated calipers are fine need pins replaced. Pins on back order. In the meantime they cleaned the pins and re-lubed them and said I was good to go until the parts come in. 5 days later same exact thing. Now my tire is discolored (brownish)and my rotor is also discolored and rusted and brake dust all over rim. I seriously concerned with the integrity of the tire, wheel and whole braking system on that side. My computer show 36% front brake pad life on both sides. I have never had a vehicle wear that much in less than 1 year. Now my car sits because it is not safe to drive. DO BETTER GM!!
Brakes emitting squeaking and scratching noises. Brakes are spongy. Dealerships are refusing to change the brakes or apply brake grease.
I purchased the vehicle September 2024. The brakes have been squealing every time I drive the vehicle since 2 days after purchasing. I have made several complaints to multiple dealerships who keep saying squeaking is normal on brakes. Brakes squeaking continually is not normal and should not be on any vehicle. GM and Chevy is refusing to fix or replace the brakes or see the issue. This same issue is happening to several vehicles and needs a recall. The brake system can just fail at any given moment since no one knows the issues. Brakes have squeak anytime the car is driven on a brand new vehicle is not normal and they need to be held accountable for correcting the issue. They keep saying nothing is wrong.
While backing out of a driveway into an unobstructed road with no oncoming traffic from either side nor any pedestrians or cyclists approaching, the automatic emergency braking system applied the brakes and then locked up leaving the vehicle as an obstruction in the road. To disengage the locked brakes required a large amount of pressure on the accelerator pedal bringing the engine RPMs up to a sufficient speed to disengage the automatic emergency braking system. Had there been traffic approaching what would have been an otherwise safe amount of time to bring the vehicle into the flow of traffic would have been insufficient and may have caused an accident. There was no warning indicating any of the vehicle sensors detected an approaching object or obstruction. This is the second incidence of the occurring in the last week.
Cameras stop working suddenly after a start where it feels a connection is going off. Then everything that depends on camera system also goes off. Two visits to the dealership couldn't fix the problem yet.
While driving i was stranded due to the oil pump failing and locking up the engine. Vehicle was towed with 3,333 miles on it. Engine, oil pump and turbo were all replaced after 4 months waiting. 2 weeks after car is fixed the engine is making shuttering noises and is in for a 2nd replacement with only 3,450 miles on the vehicle.
Purchased vehicle brand new. Six months and 10,000 miles later vehicle giving codes that say key missing / check for key. Then another that says key not found put key in center console left cupholder. When the key not found error or key missing error comes on the vehicle will not start. Thankfully this issue happened when I was local as this could strand the occupants in potentially dangerous situations (heat/cold weather, remote locations, ect.). This also prevents the vehicle from shifting into neutral for towing purposes, therefore forces the tow company to "drag" the vehicle onto the flatbed and "shake" the vehicle off the flatbed as the wheels are locked. This happened on and off, sometimes once a day and sometimes can not start car at all that day. The vehicle has been at the dealership for TWO MONTHS now as they have not be able to fix the issue. The dealership has been able to reproduce the problem and has confirmed it is a problem. GM has been contacted about the issue as well. This is the exact same issue as NHTSA ID Number: 11645578
We were driving on a street and the vehicle suddenly just stopped. We could not get it out of park. We could not get into neutral it would not shift into any gear and it said transmission needs service. That is such a dangerous thing because luckily it wasn’t a busy street because it just stopped in the middle of the street and we waited there for an hour and a half to get a truck to tow it off
FLUID LEAKING FROM BOLTS ON TRANSMISSION REQUIRING FULL REPLACEMENT
Bought it back in July. Had it taken back that first month for the 3rd row headrest issue. Then the check engine light kept coming on, 1st time they said it was a cylinder misfire code, they rest it and said try getting gas from a different station.. light came on 3 more times, but by the time we took it in, they “can’t replicate the issues”. Then the tire sensors went out, took it in and they had to order a new sensor. Then this past weekend we lost total power steering while driving 40+mph. Then it happened again the next day, but this time we lost complete control, entire car shut down, screens off, no breaks, no power steering, no nothing. We let it coast to a stop then put it in park. Took it to the dealership the following morning. They read a bunch of codes. Said they’d call with an update later that day. Now it’s been 3 days, and they can’t replicate the issues and are at a loss as to why it happened or how to fix it to prevent it from happening again. Said it might be something to do with central computer system.
* What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The breaks continually squeak so loud. They have done this since the first month I had car. The dealership said that they compared it, and it is normal for the car. On paper, they wrote could not replicate, even though they could. It’s so loud and annoying. New car should not sound like this. Tires slide on snow and ice. * How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? In any weather conditions, yes. I have slid on ice many times. I had a near death experience on a snowy morning hiting a slick spot and fish tailing. The tires provided should be better than what they are. Another time last week I drove over melted snow (40 degrees out) must have been ice under, car would not break and I was unable to stop at the stop sign! It skidded through. * Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Break sound has been reproduced and they said they can’t do anything. They documented that they couldn’t reproduce it. That was frustrating. Tires I will share concerns when I return. * Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? * No * Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? * My check engine light has come on at least 3 times. That’s a separate issue with this car. Multiple check engine lights with no known issue to solve at dealership.
Vehicle keeps giving codes not even a month after purchased that say key missing check for key. Then another that says key not found put key in center console left cupholder. This has happened multiple times already and the dealership supposedly said the first time it was a programming issue and needed to be reprogramed. They did that and the vehicle did the same thing. Errors for low battery service battery pop up. Along with service keyless start system. When the key not found error or key missing error comes on the vehicle does not start. I have been stranded when this happens because it does not recognize the key therefore the truck wont start at all and has to be towed. The codes usually pop up first then the vehicle does not start. I took it in because I started getting the codes again and again after the vehicle was releasd to me it again did the same. Happened a 3rd time and after several attempts of starting the truck after getting stranded again the 4th time it happened was at the actual dealership when i prayed it would start to get me there. The service write disconnected the batter to clear the codes so he can start it to move the vehicle because it was in his way. Now im being asked by the dealership that the engineers want to know what I am plugging into the vehicle to make it interfere w the vehicle not starting. I filed a claim w gm to have the vehicle swapped out but the dealership has not returned their emails. There was damage like if someone backed into me that thr dealership said knocked off sensors and was causing it to go out of whack. I paid to have everythjng repaired which was told would resolve the issue and a few days after repaired happened again. I was told it was failing all tests. But because the bay the vehicle was on was needed they reset the codes again and now the engineer cannot get the truck to fail.
Since June of 2024 my 3rd row seats will not let down. Problem when you pull tether strap it will not release the seat to allow it to fold down. I am not able to use my third row at all. I informed Maxie Price Chevorlet about the issue. I called GM and they have no clue about a recall. I bought a brand new vehicle and can not use it for the reason I bought it for!
When turning using signal upon straightening back out the lane change signal activates for the opposite direction I actually turned. Seems to happen on sharper turns than wide turns. I believe this is a safety issue and it looks to others that I may be switching lanes or turning again.
The car seat is a spinning seat, the seat is no longer locking into forward position leaving the seat to free spin which could cause death if I were to get in an accident. Nuna states I need to buy a new frame
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact noticed liquid underneath the vehicle where the radiator system was located. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the radiator and coolant system had failed. The radiator and coolant were replaced. After having the repair completed, the contact had the vehicle inspected for the DMV admission test and the vehicle was reported as failed. The vehicle was returned to the dealer who could not find the cause of the failed test. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 18,000.
Following an overnight snow storm, I completely cleared the vehicle of snow and ice including the windshield and hood while running the vehicle to get it to operating temperature. During my morning commute, snow, slush, and water began accumulating on the windshield and froze to the outer four to six inches on both sides. The wiper edges were clear from the night before, as I had raised them off the windshield. They were able to maintain a clear view in the middle of the windshield. I ran the defroster at full temperature, the "HI" setting, with the fan speed at 6 out of 8. The external temperature was 14 degrees Fahrenheit. Driving speeds varied from 30mph on county roads and 65mph on the interstate. The front defroster vent does not run the full width of the vehicle, so there is no way to apply warm/hot air to the outer edges to keep it from refreezing and maintain full visibility. This creates unsafe driving conditions by narrowing the forward view.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH and depressing the brake pedal, the message "Brake Assist Failure" was displayed. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road. The contact stated upon turning off and restarting the vehicle, the message was no longer displayed, and the vehicle operated as needed. The contact stated while driving 25-30 MPH at the airport, the failure recurred. The contact stated that upon turning off and restarting the vehicle several times, the failure persisted. The messages "Brake Assist Failure" and "Forward Collision Not Available" were displayed, and the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to drive 5 MPH and pulled over to a safe location. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the brake master cylinder had failed and needed to be replaced. The dealer was awaiting the parts to repair the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 1,900.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that after lifting the third-row driver’s side seat from the down position, the head restraint remained in the folded position and could not be adjusted. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 240.
The left (driver) side third row seat in 2024 Chevy Traverse is unsafe for a passenger to use due to a defect in the head restraint. The vehicle’s third-row seatbacks can be folded down to increase the cargo area. The head restraints are supposed to automatically fold out of the way as each seat is folded down so as not to interfere with the second-row seats. Also, per the owner’s manual, “the head restraint can be folded down to allow for better visibility when the rear seat is unoccupied.” Upon returning the seatbacks to the upright position for passenger use, it is required to manually return the lowered head restraints to the upright position. Per the owner’s manual, “when an occupant is in the seat, always return the head restraint to the upright position. Pull the head restraint up and push it rearward until it locks into place. Push and pull in the head restraint to make sure that it is locked.” Upon lowering and raising the third-row seats of my All New 2024 Chevy Traverse, shortly after taking delivery on 15 August 2024, I discovered that upon raising the seatbacks to the upright position the head restraint of the left-hand seat will NOT reset and lock to the upright traveling position, thus making it unsafe for passenger use. Also, upon lowering the right-hand seat, the head restraint of the right-hand seat does not fold down, as required, to avoid interference with the right-hand second row seat or to allow for better visibility when the rear seat is unoccupied. Upon taking the vehicle to the selling dealer’s service department on 4 SEP 2024 to report the defect, they initially claimed surprise at the defects. Upon further online research, I learned that Chevy was aware of the head restraint issues with the “All New 2024 Traverse” as early as June 7, 2024, as evidenced by their Bulletin number PIT6184A, which the dealer acknowledged as having been received, even though they continue to sell the All New 2024 Traverse with these safety defects.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the check engine warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to several dealers and the contact was informed that the issue was related to the OnStar feature. The contact called OnStar but was informed that the App was not responsible for the check engine warning light being illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and a reset was performed of the check engine warning light. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted without warning. In addition, the contact stated that upon turning off the vehicle, an abnormal, banging sound was coming from the engine. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer however, the cause of the failure was not yet determined; however, the contact was informed that the front drive axle was leaking. The front drive axle was replaced; however, the failures persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance and the contact was provided a case number. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 500.
With only 1017 miles on vehicle, the transmission leaked all of the fluid out. Incident happened on a side street, thankfully not on the freeway as this would have been even more of a safety concern. Vehicle was sent to local dealership for inspection. NO warning lamps or messages appeared before, during or after the transmission fluid leaked out of the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that there was fluid leaking from the vehicle onto the driveway. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the transmission was leaking transmission fluid. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and opened a case, but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 2,200.
I am writing to report a serious safety concern with my newly purchased. I believe this issue, if unaddressed, could lead to accidents. Specifically, when I am stopped at a stop sign with another vehicle behind me and the light changes to green, I begin to drive forward. However, as the vehicle behind me starts moving toward me, my car suddenly and violently applies the brakes. The force is so strong that it feels as if I've been rear-ended. This abrupt braking creates a dangerous situation as it increases the likelihood of me being rear-ended by the car behind me. It is important to note that I am in "Drive" mode and moving forward, not in reverse, so I would not expect the car to brake under these circumstances. This issue is not isolated, and I have experienced similar sudden braking on several occasions, but this scenario is the most concerning due to the potential for accidents. I took the car to the dealership, assuming it might be a programming error. However, the dealership informed me that this is a known issue with this model, but no recall has been issued to address it. I strongly urge the NTSB to investigate this matter further, as I believe it poses a significant safety risk to drivers and passengers. Thank you for your attention to this issue.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated while driving approximately 15 MPH, the brake pedal was depressed, and the vehicle jolted forward with two unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the Forward Collision Avoidance and 4WD Unavailable messages were displayed. The vehicle was towed to a dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the "Rear Driver Side Sensor" needed to be replaced. The contact stated that two different parts for the rear sensor were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 2,631.
Bought this car on Monday by Wednesday the check engine light went on and had gone off the following day. The next week Friday the check engine light went on and the acceleration was not changing out of gear. Staying at one speed on the highway. Finally got the car in and the car has transmission problems. The car is brand new!!
The third row headrests will not fold down. This is not allowing the third row seats to be folded down. Straps are pulled, but headrests do not go down.
on multiple occasions now this vehicle has applied automatic braking for no apparant reason. the vehicle has applied an extreme braking scenario. And applied the full brakes causing the vehicle to skid and extremely jar the interior passengers. this automatic braking was almost like driving the vehicle into a wall as it was immediately stopped. in the latest instance the vehicle behind me was barely able to avoid running into the rear of my vehicle.
This vehicle was advertised as having the Super Cruise feature along with "following distance indicator", "forward collision alert", "lane keep assist with lane departure warning" and "intellibeam" (auto headlamp dimming feature). We purchased the vehicle expecting all of these to function. When we took delivery and went on our drive with the salesman so he could explain all the features, we found that the Adaptive Cruise Control and the Super Cruise would not work at all. We thought maybe we were trying to engage it incorrectly, so the salesman advised he would check into it the next day (we took delivery after regular service hours) and get back to us. We took the vehicle home. Upon driving the next several days, the Forward Collision Alert malfunction indicator light came on in the driver information center. We had made an appointment and took the vehicle to the dealer. We were advised that bulletin #PIT6167A was issued by GM on 6/20/2024 stating "Super Cruise Unavailable" and it was a known problem and at the time there was no fix. We were advised by the Dealer that the issue was a software engineering issue that GM does not have a solution for repair. GM allowed this vehicle to be sold knowing that the Automatic Driver Assist (ADAS) safety systems on this vehicle would not function at all. We knew the Adaptive Cruise Control and the Super Cruise systems would not work, but we found out on the road in the dark that the "Intellibeam" system was not working when oncoming traffic started flashing their bright lights. This was a safety concern. This was very irresponsible of GM to sell these vehicles with ADAS issues. How did this vehicle pass the quality control process at the factory? Research shows there are other models affected. Today I learned that there is a newer version of the GM service bulletin (new number is PIT6167C) that states there is still no repair process for the Super Cruise (and other affected ADAS systems) available yet. GM refused to buyback.
I was stopped at a red light in rush hour traffic in the middle of three lanes. When the traffic light turned green, I pressed the accelerator and the engine revved, but the the vehicle did not accelerate in a normal manner. The CEL came on in the DIC along with a message "Reduced Acceleration. Drive with Care." I was able to slowly change lanes and turn into a parking lot while cars maneuvered around me to avoid a collision. I was unable to exceed 10mph while surrounding traffic was moving approximately 50mph presenting a safety hazard. Per an Onstar On-Demand Diagnostic scan, the PCM indicates a P0746 code. The vehicle was towed to a nearby dealer. The dealer indicated the transmission will be repaired under warranty. There were no warnings (slipping gears, rough shifts) prior to the incident. The vehicle has less than 3200 miles on it.
I was driving in the rain and drove through a puddle something I have done many times with previous vehicles. All of a sudden the car stopped accelerating. I would press the gas,the engine would rev, but the car would barely move if at all. I barely made it to a safe location.
With less than 9,000 miles driven on the vehicle, the entire brake system failed as I was driving. I have since learned that there was a faulty master brake cylinder installed when the vehicle was built. No brake fluid was getting to any of the brakes. When the incident occurred, I was able to pump the brake pedal all the way to the floor in order to get the vehicle to stop. I felt the power brakes go out, the service light started flashing on the dash, and several warnings popped up. These warnings included: "Brake System Failure", "Speed Restricted", and "Hard Braking Required". Even with hard braking it was difficult to get the vehicle to stop. I was very lucky that I was not travelling at a high rate of speed and was on a low-traffic road when the incident occurred. Had it been 2 minutes later I would've been on a major interstate and could've put my own and others' lives at risk. The vehicle has been diagnosed by the dealership I purchased it from and will be in their position for the next month while waiting on a new part.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the vehicle shut off while on the interstate, with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the driver’s side door became inoperable, with the plastic frame hanging off the door of the vehicle. The vehicle was restarted on the third attempt; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was driven to the dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the catalytic convertor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 3,900.
3rd row headrest will not let down when the seats are folded down.
With 103 miles on odometer, vehicle check engine light illuminated, warning message appeared on DIC regarding reduced acceleration, then vehicle proceed to downshift causing the vehicle to reduce speed dramatically almost causing the vehicle behind to hit my vehicle. Vehicle now does not shift properly and is at over 4500 rpm, while driving at a speed of 55 mph.

The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle with a front seat passenger with the front seat passenger’s seat belt latched, the “Fasten Front Passenger Seat Belt" message was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who serviced the vehicle but after retrieving the vehicle, the failure immediately reoccurred. No further information was available. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 3.
The transmission suddenly failed on this vehicle. I was later informed that it was the clutch piston. Fortunately, the failure occurred at a stop light when I attempted to accelerate from a stop. The vehicle initially did not move as expected. If this had happened when turning into traffic, or merging onto a highway, it could have been dangerous. There was no warning light or indication at first. The service engine light only came on after about two miles. I was able to drive the car but accelerating was very slow. This car was purchased on [XXX]. I am seeing some documents online that indicate GM knew of this problem, and the dealer possibly should not have even sold me this car. As of this date, the car sits at the dealer with no replacement parts available. I took the vehicle to Phillips Chevrolet in Frankfort, IL. The representative there is who told me it was clutch piston that failed. There was never any warning or indication. This problem occurred suddenly. Transmission I stop at stop sign, when I proceeded to continue to drive the car made a roaring sound and my Chevrolet Traverse 2024 would not go into the second gear. The check engine light came on and has not gone out. I took it to the Chevrolet dealer where I purchased the vehicle, the looked it over and now have to order a transmission overhaul kit. I’m now waiting for further information.
Transmission issue: Dealer was not able to replicate issue due to it only happening periodically. When putting into drive mode and going to accelerate it feels as if the transmission is slipping and give a big jerk. Also will sometime make a loud noise like tranmission is "dropping". Or when foots off gas peddle after going at a steady speed then go to accelerate again it will jerk. Dealership said that is normal as there is a "learning phase" which I've owned several new vehicles n never experienced this before. No warning lights have been shown. Reverse automatic breaking issue: Several occasions while reversing vehicle will slam into park mode when nothing is behind me. Brought to dealer, dealer said to shut off the notification. However, I don't want to have to shut it off. Tech did experience this once while attempting to reverse vehicle. But service advisor said there is no fix for this issue. Very startling to anyone in vehicle when it quickly locks up.
On May 14 a service bulletin was released by GM for an issue with the transmission #N242446290 causing a reduced acceleration suddenly and finally zero acceleration after a few minutes unexpectedly. I purchased this car brand new on [XXX] and was not made aware of this potential problem. On [XXX] we took a family vacation road trip from TX to Gatlinburg, TN. The transmission failed and the engine gave zero acceleration the night of [XXX]. I had to have GM roadside tow the vehicle to a Chevy dealer there in Tennessee and then rent a car out of my own pocket to drive home. This is a safety hazard for sure with the vehicles listed on this bulletin as it gives no warning of failure while driving. I was pulling onto the road with traffic when the engine light came on and I lost all power, unable to move out of the way. 3rd row headrest will not go down when straps are pulled to put the seat down. This prevents the 3rd row from being able to be put down. Summit white paint chipping/peeling within 2 weeks of ownership. Normal driving, no gravel. Under 1,000 miles.
While car was in motion a warning suddenly came onto screen stating "Brake assist problem, service asc, vehicle speed will be reduced for safety". Pedal was very hard to press, and was almost impossible to stop car with the speed less then 20 mph when the problem occurred. Dealer reports that the Master brake Cylinder needs replaced. This car has less then 500 miles on it at time of occurrence. At this time I am unaware if part is being evaluated as a safety issue. The dealer has been unable to get GM to provide a replacement part.
1. When reversing, the emergency braking is very sensitive. On 6/20, it was pouring rain and every time I tried to back out the car kept slamming on the brakes thinking there was an object in the way. it also happened when we were leaving an appointment that same day. It wasn’t pouring rain, but rain was dripping down the back of the car and the car slammed on the brakes at least 5 times trying to back out. This also happened before when backing put of a parking spot and there was a shadow behind my car. The car kept slamming on the brakes thinking there was an object there. 2. Very jolting and unexpected movements. Not safe when trying to back out. 3. Unable to reproduce at the dealer. Took to the dealership on 6/20 after this happened. It was no longer pouring rain at that time, so was unable to reproduce the issue. 4. No inspection. The dealership did look at the sensors to make sure they weren’t pushed in or obstructed. 5. No warning prior to the issue.
The blue line shows 121 total NHTSA complaints filed over 3 years, with the worst year being 2025 (71 complaints).
The amber reliability line averaged 10/100 across the vehicle's life — dropping as low as 10 in 2024 when complaint severity peaked.
Notably, despite 121 complaints on file, no recall has been issued — either the defect pattern has not met NHTSA's threshold for a formal campaign, or a recall may be forthcoming.
Estimated 5-year cost of ownership: $31,344 (~$522/mo). Repair risk buffer is standard due to vehicle risk profile.
20% estimated recall probability — some indicators present but not alarming.
