Electrical components failed car shut down while driving and put me and my daughters at risk I had to have a part with the lightning bolt that come on the dash replaced but that's all the inspection there was no warning only flashing engine light and it shut down it first happened June 2025 and has happened 3 times since. Also the cruise control when set will accelerate on its own and I have to hit the button multiple times and the brake to get it to stop and shut off.

While driving at any time, the speedometer will instantly drop and the car feels like it's about to shut itself off. After a diagnostic with a mechanic, they stated this was the crankshaft issue; similar to a recall for other 2016 jeep compass. My vin is not currently associated with this recall notice, however based on these safety defects, it seems it should be considered under the recall

Continuously stalls out regardless of speed it has stalled on the highway, in the middle of intersections losing power steering. sometimes restarts right away, sometimes not. leaving me stranded in in the middle of highway/intersections sometimes in very dangerous places. It has had a recall repaired in 2017 before I owned the vehicle however it has had the exact same issues as the recall since I’ve bought it. I’ve spent the past few years trying to look up recalls and communicate with the dealership with zero luck at all. I’ve been told time and time again that it has already been repaired and the 2 years warranty is has expired since. (expired before I even bought the car) Yet the car clearly has has not been properly fixed for the same issues to keep happening. Because lack of help to resolve this issue I have paid out of pocket to have these issues repaired. However again the same issues keep happening leaving me and my family in very dangerous positions time and time again at the mercy of other drivers paying attention. What am I to do? I Cannot afford to keep replacing something that isn’t fixing the problem and leaving us in dangerous positions. Check engine light comes on after the car stalls but goes away after a little bit of driving.

The engine failed while driving on the expressway putting us in a dangerous spot on the outer lane. It was towed to Etscorn’s in Louisville, KY and we were told despite everything looking ok on the outside, there was an internal engine failure of some kind and it would cost $900 to take it apart just to find out. I don’t have that kind of money.

The Airbag light keeps coming on. And I regularly diagnose and service my car by the Jeep dealership and the diagnostic scan shows that everything is good with the car, still the airbag light keeps coming up on the dashboard. This is highly concerning and I'm afraid that it might blow up anytime while in driving. The car also has some transmission issue that is not showing up on the diagnostic scan report. But because of this issue I can't and haven't been driving on the highway for 1 year now. Because everything when I drove the highway, after 20 min of driving the car suddenly slows down and does not move forward even though I press the gas pedal. And this happens while I was driving on the highway, in the middle of the highway. It is very dangerous. I think there is a factory fault with this car. And I'd like to get help with this. Thanks.

The vehicle is having issues with power loss while driving and issues with starting at times of cold weather where it cranks very hard for extended periods of time without being able to fully start. I took the vehicle to a local shop to be looked at. They did a diagnostic and physical inspection and identified the issues as a catalytic converter and senor issue. When they looked up the vehicle vin number is showed two NHTSA recall Bulletins: 16V907000 and Emissions recall u67. Jeep when I called them to figure out how to address them said that there are no recalls on this vehicle. They wont fix anything. WHY are there recalls on the vehicle listed and they are saying there are "none that need fixed". Did jeep lie when I had it in their shop before and say they fixed them and they were not?

Head rest on passenger side popped out while driving and hit me, the passenger, in the head. I found that this particular model did have a recall a few years back as said below, however, our car was not recalled, why not? I’m having problems with my Catalytic converter

I have had problems with Jeep suddenly losing all power while driving with NO WARNING! Everytime ive had it checked they could not find anything wrong with it. Just recently it happened again and since then when I drive it doesn't seem to want to accelerate. There are no noises,instrument lights on any codes showing up. I had to wait a month for my appointment at the dealership and then another month for them to even tell me what was wrong. They said i need a new transmission which is ridiculous since my car only has 89,956 miles and a majority of those miles are from military moves. The only thing they did was run a diagnostic test (nothing showed up) and said they had 2 people test drive it ( but my mileage was the same going in and going out) They told me it would cost 7500 before taxes for the transmission. They could not give me a clear answer when I asked what exactly is wrong with the transmission. I was told that its something internal but they couldn't tell me exactly the problem because that would require them to take it apart. I asked if I should get a transmission flush to make sure it wasn't that since I just learned that cvt should be flushed earlier than usual and he told me probably not. I decide to take my car home and will never use them again. I went two months without a car and was unable to work because they did not offer me any time of vehicle while I had to wait. Im concerned because Mopar discontinued the transaxle package with torque converter, part number 68000676AH that is for my vehicle because it is known to be defective. I bought this car brand new and thought it was clear of any defects or safety issues. A new transmission for a car that is less than 10 years old is ridiculous and seems like a lemon. Since Jeep knows this Jatco transmission is defective and also discontinued it with a different part then why arent they offering a goodwill repair or at least a warranty adjustment. I will now have to quit my job or buy a new car.

I have a major ground issue, where I lose power and it makes my headlights, cab lights, and my cluster to constantly flicker. There was no warnings or anything, and has been confirmed by a professional auto care center. Another issue is the engine cooling and there is no leaks I have also had it looked over by the same professional auto care center, I also had to replace the throttle body 4 times in less than 6 months. My jeep compass falls under the problems of the S89 recall but my local dealer is stating my vin doesn’t meet the recall. 1 it’s a safety issue 2 I will be going down the road and the engine completely shuts off and I have to coast to the side of the road turn the ignition off. Seat belt will randomly disengage and not remain clicked into the lock on the both front seats but is more common with the drivers side. Will need to click it in and out of the lock until it finally re-engages the lock.

My car cuts off while driving, I took it to the dealership December 5th, 2024 and they said there’s a recall for the catalytic converter which makes my engine stall! In November 2024 while I was driving, it cut off while I was turning and traffic was heading my way! My wheel started to locked so I had to pressed on my brakes to control the wheel. I made an appointment to the dealership where I financed the car, but they told me they don’t have the part because it is back ordered, but by law since my car is a safety hazard for me and others. I bought this car year and half ago and I been doing a lot of repairs in it and now the engine light came on and stated the bank 1 and bank 2 sensor camshaft and engine is stalling and car is jerking very dangerous I did allighment new control arms engine mounts I repaired a lot I put new tires I can’t drive it on the high way it starts to jerk left and right and steering is very hard to control seats are horribale and so are the seatbelts.

Vehicle displayed an air bag light for the passenger seat. I disconnected the battery let it sit for an hour. Then I cycled the key to run and back to off. I checked the seat connectors and detached and reattached the connectors. Then reinitializes the battery. I got in the vehicle turned the key on and cleared the codes with a obd2 tool. When the airbag module cleared the side curtain and front airbags deployed with the vehicle not running.

I bought my 2016 Jeep Compass Latitude in September of 2021 with a warranty which because of some rotor and other issues they gave me a loaner vehicle while they did the repairs for a week or so. It didn't give me too many problems for a while but then in these last two years or so then a lot has been breaking on it or acting up & I only got a little over 86k miles on it, but any warranties are expired at 80K. I've replaced the battery, the rear hub/bearings 2x, all of the rotors & brakes 2x now, I go through engine oil even though I do regular oil changes on it, and most recently it was doing a "death wobble" that was so unsafe I was afraid to drive it myself let alone have my son with me in case it did it & it was very unpredictable when it would happen too, generally over 45 mph and after I had been driving for over 15 minutes would be the most likely time for it, unfortunately not always though & the 1st mechanic I took it too couldn't even get it to do it. The 2nd mechanic suggested changing the driver brake line to the caliper to see if that helped since I'd just replaced that brake caliper but that the majority of my front end suspension, hub/bearing & axle, spring coils, etc. would all need replaced because of how worn out they was already looking too (it was exactly 86003 miles when I went to the 2nd mechanic) and if it was still doing it after that then he would figure it out, thankfully replacing the brake line seems to have stopped the "death wobble" problem for now. I'm not sure this is even a valid complaint, if not then I apologize but I've never seen so many parts, issues at once, esp. with that mileage. The unpredictable "death wobble" is definitely a safety concern at least & incase others have all these costly problems at once too. I just got my jeep paid off & have to have cervical & lumbar surgeries asap so I will just have to fix it asap. Originally, via Mopar site, I was here trying to find my jeep's specific specs/build sheet for those parts.

I went to adjust the headrest, The headrest popped and hit me in the head. There was some plastic pieces that came out when the headrest popped, it stayed connected. but headrest stayed (open) for the lack of a better term. about 2 to 2.5 inches. makes driving of the car really uncomfortable. had to strap the headrest back to the hard plastic, so that I don't have the headrest pushing my head forward. and I don't have to drive with my back away the back rest of the seat. This happened before I started driving.

Crankshaft position sensor was replaced twice in 2022 and once in 2023. It now needs replaced again

On Sunday, 4/14 as I was driving, my Jeep suddenly lost power and stalled. I was able to get to a median. I waited a few minutes, started the vehicle and was able to reach my destination. The next day I was driving on the highway at approximately 65mph when the engine shut off again. Fortunately there was not a lot of traffic and I was able to coast to the berm of the road. The check engine light came on. Family members came to help. We started it a few times and tried to drive but would only get a mile or two and the same thing would happen. I had to have it towed to a repair shop near my house. The mechanic drove it the next day to see if it would act the same way. He also lost power and it stalled again. He told me that the code that came up was a crankshaft sensor failure. He replaced the part the next day.

Airbag light came on for about four days I called dealership but then went off for a week, so appointment was canceled. After that airbag light came on again scheduled another appointment by time I reached dealership light was back off. After diagnostic was performed results came back Airbag Module Internal Failure needed to be replaced and reprogram

My passenger side headrest imploded on my 2016 Jeep Compass without an accident or collision. Dealership is only replacing the passenger side headrest; told me that they weren't doing the other side because it hasn't deployed yet.

In the summer of 2020, my front passenger headrest spontaneously popped while I was loading my child into the back of my car. The noise was scary and the popping could've easily hurt someone if there had been anyone sitting in the front seat. I contacted my local Jeep dealer quickly who informed me that there was a recall and that I could get a replacement. The replacement took well over a year to come in and wasn't replaced until October 2023. This entire time, the passenger headrest was popped out making it uncomfortable to sit and also decreasing the safety for that passenger. Now, just two months after it was finally replaced, the front passenger headrest popped AGAIN while my husband was driving and I was sitting there. Again, it was a very loud, scary noise and the jolt was both painful and shocking. This is extremely dangerous and I'm very disappointed that it happened again after taking a very long time to be fixed. I would like to know my options moving forward.

We were driving down the road and the car started violently shaking, the check engine light went on and the car wouldn't move. The car needed to be pushed to the gas station and we almost got hit with my son in his car seat. I do believe this is a safety concern that needs to be looked into for a possible recall. I’ve had plans with my Transmission. This is its third time. First two times were under 30,000 miles and still under warranty. And were replaced by the dealer . Using my warranty. There was also a motor fire. Brakes and rotors all the way around mind you all under 30,000. Transmission was put in. I am now at 101,500. And transmissions going out so it’s been parked. The car just shuts off on me while driving. All lights come on on dash and car shuts off and I have to get it off the road stop it and turn it off wait for about three to five mins. I purchased the vehicle in dec 2018. The odometer read 40248. I had to replace the alternator 3 times. Last one in 2021. the vehicle would loose power on the road causing a safety hazard. I drive a 2016 jeep compass and I was heading into work at 5AM when my electronic throttle control light, check engine light and traction control light all came on. I lost the ability to accelerate so I pulled off on the side of the road and turned off my car. When I turned it back on only the check engine light came on so I started driving once again but my throttle control light blinked on a couple of times causing my vehicle to automatically slow down. I limped my car to work then home again with the same problem(same lights on). I have looked up to see what other jeep owners have said about this and they're several complaints of the throttle body failing but jeep not doing anything about it. This is a big problem that needs to be taken care of before someone seriously gets hurt when it goes out.

Yesterday I had the Crankshaft Position Sensor replaced because of the ongoing stalling while idle and stalling while in motion issues. Today it has stalled 5 times while in motion on surface streets and the highways going over 40 mph and twice in a parking when sitting idle or initial startup. For the times when in motion and it stalled I was able to get off the road and avoid any collisions. This is unsafe, the truck must sit for an unknown period of time before it will restart. I am currently sitting on the freeway with hazards until it restarts. I spoke with Chrysler recall and they say there is nothing wrong with the truck and the information online showing multiple 2016 Jeep Compass stalling issues doesn’t mean anything because it’s not in the Jeep database. In the past when it stalls the check engine light normally does not come on. In my research it shows other owners being told the dealer cans dx anything because no errors. We are supposed to just drive these death traps until one of us dies before Chrysler will do anything. I am not financially able to go to a dealer and pay for diagnostics and repairs. As it stand I paid over $400 yesterday for that one part to be replaced. When will Chrysler be held accountable for these safety issues related to driving a vehicle that stalls and loses power while in motion. Then will not restart for an unknown amount of time. Why do we have to possibly pay with our lives. If this truck actually held value l could trade it in. But I can’t it’s worth 5k on kbb and the note is at 17k. In a previous complaint I got the mileage wrong and stated 116k.

While driving the vehicle shut down, I lost all steering. It has a history of stalling while driving, stalling while idle, and not restarting for random periods of time. After getting the vehicle restarted it stalled again two more times while driving. I parked in a parking lot for a shopping center. When I cam out after a period of 30-45 minutes - the vehicle will not start and just turns over and over. I used FIXD to determine the camshaft position sensor was listed as a "major" issue - error P0335. I believe this vehicle is unsafe and it is only a matter of time when I will be injured due to the stalling and non-restarting issues. I also believe Chrysler is responsible for this problem. Considering the vast amounts of user evidence online of other owners having the same issues - Chrysler is just waiting for them to age off the road. I purchased the vehicle from Carmax on 6/18/2022 and feel I was sold a lemon. I have made a complaint on this site before. I have called Chrysler and they say there is nothing wrong with my vehicle - it has been repaired and they did their part. Obviously this is not the case for mine and thousands of other owners across the country. Why are we the ones who have to suffer at the negligence of the automaker? Do I have to die or become severely injured for them to take responsibility for their design and manufacturing flaws? Do others have to suffer irreparable damage also? Why won't the government do something about these unsafe vehicle we were sold? It is not enough to say "well there are no active recalls".

First noticed condensation on the inside of the windshield and dealership alledgedly unclogged sunroof drains.Then noticed ice formed on the inside of the windshield and passenger floor-board carpet damp specifically by door jam seal. While driving water pooled and leaked through front dome light. Having water fall through the ceiling via the light while driving through an intersection presents a safety issue because of distraction, visibility and potential electrical issues due to water damage. The Vehicle is currently back at the dealership and they are trying to recreate the problem. There were no warning lamps, messages other than the condensation, ice on the inside of the windshield.

I have been having issues with my vehicle for the past month or so. I took it to a mechanic and they said that my Power Transfer Unit is bad and my vehicle currently doesn't have 4 wheel drive capability. I was driving my children to school, my car started shaking and hesitating. No engine light came on. We live in the middle of nowhere, poor cell reception. Down the road, I turned onto a main highway and my car continued to shake and hesitated. My car would hardly go forward. I had lots of cars in front of me and behind me. Had cars passing me cause I was going to slow. finally had to pull on side of the road and turned into the airport parking lot. Here I shut off my car, and turned it back on. Finally the check engine light came on. I tried to put jeep in drive wouldn't move forward. I tried to put into reverse and wouldn't move back. My car was on, but wouldn't go any where. I had to call my mom to pick up my kids for school and wait on a town truck driver. The auto repair transferred my car to a transmission specialist who stated my transmission had a lot of damage and I would need a new transmission for over $4400. I believe these jeep compass should be recalled for faulty transmission and faulty warning that anything was wrong with the car. My engine light came on way too late, only at the part where my transmission failed. Seems like a person is owed a light to know to take this in to get fixed. Vehicle will stall and die while driving for no reason. It happens everyday at least once a day. No check engine light, no warning. It's extremely dangerous to just stop moving in the middle of an intersection. Or on the highway. When I turn the key to try and start it again it gets stuck cranking even when letting go of the key. I have to turn it off to stop the cranking. I've had a mechanic look at it multiple times and they don't know what the fix would be or what is wrong.

My engine is shutting down, sometimes in the middle of me driving. My car will shut done and I will stop in the middle of merging into traffic. Or waiting at a light my car will shut down. In May 2020 as I was driving down the road at approximately 50 mph I suddenly lost the ability to accelerate and dropped down to 25 mph immediately. I tried to accelerate, but the vehicle would not go over 25 mph. The check engine, traction control and another light illuminated on the dash. I pulled the vehicle over and shut it off. I waited approximately 5 minutes and restarted the vehicle. All of the lights went off except the check engine light. I started to drive again and it appeared that I had function back with the accelerator. This happened again several days earlier. It seemed to happen most when I needed to accelerate to climb a hill or slight incline. This is not safe, especially when in traffic or with traffic behind you. I brought it to my local garage and it was diagnosed with a bad throttle body sensor. The sensor was replaced in May 2020. I have just begun having similar issues again recently. The vehicle seems to hesitate when the accelerator is pressed as though it is not getting enough gas. I brought it is to the garage again, and again it was diagnosed with a bad throttle body sensor. This is not something that should be replaced twice in 2 years?

Engine would intermittently stall while driving without warning. Some cases the engine would go into limp mode and other cases the engine would completely shut off. Problem occured while driving on city streets as well as driving on highway at highway speeds. Severe risk of collision occurred multiple times to myself and all other vehicles around me. A local repair shop misdiagnosed the problem multiple times as there was no check engine light present. A private mechanic determined that my vehicle needed the Chrysler s89 recall fix. A licensed dealership declined to perform the recall because my vehicle was manufactured in November of 2015. The private mechanic replaced the three electrical terminals that connect to the crank/camshaft sensors which unofficially completed the Chrysler s89 recall fix. Vehicle ran problem free for two weeks with about 300 miles driven before engine stalled again this time with check engine light illuminated as well as an emissions light. Vehicle was towed to a licensed dealership. Licensed dealership found codes C2101 and P2173. Dealership replaced throttle body and a sensor. Between a local repair shop, a private mechanic, a licensed dealership and multiple tow companies I spent over 3,000 dollars (assuming the throttle body failure is a result of the Chrysler s89 recall).

Have replaced Cam Shaft AND Crankshaft Positioning sensors to no avail. Check engine light will come and go, sometimes with the traction control lights as well if the brake is engaged for any length of time. After these lights come on, the jeep loses the ability to accelerate, leaving the car in limp mode. Light goes off after each sensor is replaced, will drive fine for a day or so, and then will leave you stuck. All attempts to diagnose, end in codes that have already been fixed

On October 12, 2021about 1:30pm, I was at my dentist office. As I was leaving, my 2016 Jeep Compass would not start. I called my wife to bring jumper cables to me. I jumped my vehicle and started towards home. My driveway has a slite income and I drove just inside the overhead door and stopped. For a moment, I took my food off the brake pedal to draw my drivers mirror inward, at that moment, the vehicle started forward. I slammed my foot unto the brake pedal and the pedal went to the floor, not stopping the vehicle before hitting my work bench. The front edge of the hood had five dents in it. I made an appointment with the local Jeep dealer for October 19, 2021. I explained to the service adviser, about the battery and brake pedal, both happening on the same day. Later in that day, the adviser called me at home. They could not find a problem with the brake system, However, they said I needed a new battery. I gave them the okay. Several times sense that time, I have felt like my pedal was going to the floor, while stopping the vehicle.

Friday 06/17/22 Parked care to go to excise class for 1 hour, when returned the car was running/had been started , I thought maybe the key control hit another set of keys in my pocket however, when I arrived home, and cut car off, and went in house the car started again and this happen several times that day.06/18/22 went to Walmart and parked car, when returned to car and unlocked the car door ,the car automatically locked it self, I unlocked it and it locked itself again.then when got home locked the car and went inside the house, the car then started up and was running again. also, the Radio AM/FM stations not working , only the Sirius radio stations are.

As I was backing out of a driveway, I heard a loud pop and felt something hit me in the back of the head really hard. My headrest burst open spontaneously. I now have a bad headache and sore neck.

I UNDERSTAND THERE WAS A REPLACED PART AS PART OF THE CHRYSLER S89 RECALL IN APRIL OF 2017, WHICH IS OUT OF WARRANTY ACCORDING TO CHRYSLER. THE PROBLEM IS STILL PERSISTING AND IS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR ME CONSIDERING IT STALLS RANDOMLY AND WHILE IN MOTION. I was recently driving my vehicle at a speed of 50mph when all of a sudden the engine light and the electrical light came on and I was unable to accelerate. I was able to pull over. Restart the car and get to my mechanic. A diagnostic was run and it was determined it was the throttle body actuator. I said fix the part. Apparently it is on backorder and there is nothing Jeep can to and the only way you can get one emergently, is to have your car break down The following day I was driving and my vehicle completely stopped without warning. I was able to pull over. My car was not drivable and had to be towed. I called Jeep and the service manager laughed and said the part was on backorder. My brother was able to find an aftermarket part to replace it. I filed a claim with Jeep to cover it and replace the part and they told me there is no recall and they will not do it. My car is 6 years old, which is not old for a Jeep. Upon looking on-line, this is an ongoing issue with Jeep Compasses since 2015. Jeep knows this is a SAFETY issue and they are not recalling the part. If I was on the highway when this happened, I would have been killed. There is no warning at all. You are at a speed and then the car just shuts down. There is no warning. This needs to be investigated as it is a serious safety defect with the vehicle that Jeep knows about and is refusing to put the safety of their customers first.

When I’m at a stop and I go to push the gas the vehicle stalls out, or Whalen I slow down and then push the gas to merge onto interstates/highways it completely stalls out and has potentially killed me more than once.

Headrest on passenger side popped without any collision or impact. It just popped. It was very scary. I’m thankful it didn’t cause any injury to anyone. The noise was very loud and happened without warning.

This morning (08.20.21) I was driving to work when about 1 mile in I was going 45mph and my car started stalling, causing it to drop to 10mph. While driving during the work day on a busy street my Jeep Compass stalled out putting myself and others at risk of an accident. No lights or warning signs were visible on the dashboard making this a sudden and scary event. After being it to the dealership they assessed the issue as the crankshaft power sensor, after doing more research I see that this has been an issue as well as a previous recall on other 2016 Jeep Compass’ and feel that now mine should be added to the list as the safety of myself and others were put at risk as a result.

Occasionally, while driving, the vehicle will exhibit catastrophic electrical system failures. I was driving home just last night, and my headlights, turn signals, horn, windshield wipers, dash lights, hazard lights, and cruise control all turned off. I was able to limp it home with the help of someone driving in front of me, because I could not see. Imagine doing 45 mph on a turn at night, in an area with no streetlights, and all of a sudden your headlights and running lights turn off. I'm lucky I didn't hit a tree. No hazards means no one would have seen me on the road waiting for help until it was too late.

BUT I NOTICED IT AFTER I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE FROM CARITE VERY SOON AFTER I BOUGHT IT.

ALL OF MY LIGHTS CAME ON OUT OF NOWHERE THEN CAR WOULDN'T TURN BACK ON. AFTER DIAGNOSTICS IT WAS DETERMINED TO BE AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE WITH THE WIRING HARNESSES & ALSO WAS TOLD THAT THERE WERE ISSUES WITH MY AIRBAGS BEING ABLE TO PROPERLY DEPLOY. VEHICLE WAS ON. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AT ABOUT 30-40MPH. I WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO MAKE IT HOME AND BE ABLE TO PARK MY CAR AND I WAS FORTUNATE I WASN'T ON A HIGHWAY OR IT COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY DANGEROUS ACCIDENT.

I WAS DRIVING UP A MOUNTAIN HIGHWAY DOING ABOUT 55 MILES AN HOUR AND MY CAR COMPLETELY STALLED OUT. IT'S LIKE MY CAR JUST COMPLETELY SHUT OFF BUT I STILL HAD POWER. I WAS ABLE TO DRIFT OFF ONTO THE SIDE WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED MY CAR HAD JUST SHUT OFF. I TRIED RESTARTING IT THREE TIMES WITH NO SUCCESS. I WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND TRIED TO RESTART IT AND IT STARTED. I TESTED IT AND IT WAS RUNNING SO I TRIED TO GET BACK ON THE HIGHWAY WHERE IT INSTANTLY SHUT OFF AGAIN THIS TIME THE ENGINE SHUT OFF AGAIN AND I LOST CONTROL OF MY STEERING AND JUST ROLLED BACKWARDS. NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED BACK DOWN THE MOUNTAIN. I WOULD LIKE TO NOTE I HAD SUFFICIENT GAS AND OIL. ON MY WAY HOME FROM ADVANCED AUTO I WAS STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT ON SOUTH RAILROAD STREET IN PALMYRA, PA. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN FOR ME TO GO, I WENT TO RELEASE MY FOOT OFF OF THE BRAKE AND THE VEHICLE JUST COMPLETELY SHUT OFF - IT WAS JUST COMPLETELY DEAD, NOTHING WAS WORKING. I THEN WENT TO PUT MY FOOT BACK ON THE BRAKE, AND I FELT PRESSURE UNDERNEATH THE BRAKE THAT WOULDN'T ALLOW ME TO COMPLETELY PRESS IT DOWN. AFTER A FEW MINUTES I TRIED TURNING MY KEY AND RESTARTING THE CAR, AND IT TURNED BACK ON AND I WAS THANKFULLY ABLE TO DRIVE IT BACK HOME. ON MONDAY, 9/21/2020 I CALLED A TOW TRUCK AND HAD IT TOWED TO LADD-HANFORD IN LEBANON, PA. ON 9/22/2020 KELSEY SHELLEHAMER CALLED ME FROM LADD-HANFORD TO INFORM ME THAT THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR WAS FAULTY, THAT THERE HAD BEEN RECALLS FOR THE SAME MODEL BUT JUST NOT MY YEAR, SO SHE WAS GOING TO CALL CHRYSLER AND SEE IF THEY WOULD PAY FOR IT ANYWAY. ON 9/23/2020 I RECEIVED ANOTHER CALL FROM KELSEY. SHE STATED THAT SHE SPOKE TO CHRYSLER, THEIR WARRANTY DEPARTMENT AND ALSO MVP, ALL OF WHICH DECLINED RESPONSIBILITY FOR FIXING THE PART.

I SPOKE TO TYLER AT LA PORTE CHRYSLER IN LA PORTE, IN AND SET A SERVICE APPOINTMENT. A S89 RECALL HAD BEEN ISSUED, BUT AN INCOMPLETE RECALL HAD BEEN PERFORMED. ONLY TWO OF THREE WIRING HARNESSES HAD BEEN REPLACED. THEY STILL HAVE MY VEHICLE. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT NOT KNOWING WHEN OR WHERE IT MAY STALL. IT STALLED UNDER A VARIETY OF CIRCUMSTANCES, BUSY THOROUGHFARE OR AT THE ATM.

SOI PULLED IT OVER AND WE HAD IT TOWED HOME I HAD A DIAGNOSTICS TEST IN IT'S C1221 I BELIEVE WAS THE CODE WE HAVE NOT DRIVE IT SINCE.

CAR WILL NOT START, HAS POWER BUT NO TURNOVER, NO CRANK. IT HAPPENS RANDOMLY, HAVE HAD BATTERY, ALTERNATOR AND STARTER CHECKED, IGNITION AND KEYS BUT NO CODES KICKING OUT. DEALER HAS BEEN ABLE TO REPLICATE ISSUE HOWEVER NO IDEA WHAT THE CAUSE IS. THERE ISN'T A SPECIFIC TIME OR REASON IT JUST HAPPENS. SOMETIMES YOU CAN JUST SHUT IT OFF AND TRY AGAIN AND IT STARTS AND SOMETIMES IT LETS ME SIT FOR 15 - 30 MIN BEFORE IT STARTS. CURRENTLY THE CAR IS BACK AT THE DEALERSHIP BUT THEY HAVE NO CLUE.

WORKED FOR ABOUT 2 MONTHS AND IS STARTING AGAIN. THE AUTO START WILL START IT BUT WHEN I PUT THE KEY ON AND PUT IT IN THE ON POSITION IT SHUTS DOWN. IF I LET IT SIT FOR A MOMENT IT STARTS.SOMETIMES IT DOESNT HAPPEN FOR A WEEK OR TWO, SOMETIMES A COUPLE TIMES A DAY. I DONT WANT IT CUTTING OFF ON ME WHILE DRIVING THE BUSY ROADS I HAVE TO TRAVEL ON.

THE CAR HAS BEEN TO MULTIPLE JEEP DEALERSHIPS AND IT KEEP STALLING AND SHUTTING DOWN BUT NO PROBLEMS FOUND. IT HAS SHUT DOWN IN TRAFFIC! THIS HAS HAPPENED ON MULTIPLE DAYS. WE HAVE CHECKED RECALLS AND NONE APPLY TO THE JEEP. I HAVE TWO SMALL A KIDS AND THIS IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS.

THE SEAT BELT LATCH WILL NOT ENGAGE TO PROPERLY RESTRAIN. IT COMES UNDONE WITH VERY LITTLE FORCE OR PULLING.

WHILE MERGING ONTO THE 110S FROM THE 10E, THE ENGINE TURNED ITSELF OFF. I WAS GOING ALMOST 60 MPH. THE STEERING COLUMN WAS COMPLETELY LOCKED INTO PLACE AS THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SLOW, PREVENTING ME FROM BEING ABLE TO STEER EFFECTIVELY. I HAD MY TWO CHILDREN IN THE CAR - MY 1 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AND MY 7 YEAR OLD SON. LUCKILY, I WAS NOT INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. I WASN'T ABLE TO GET ONTO A SHOULDER COMPLETELY AS I COULDN'T STEER. I TURNED THE KEY INTO THE ENGINE OFF POSITION, WAITED A FEW SECONDS AND TURNED THE ENGINE OVER. IT STARTED WITH NO PROBLEM. HOWEVER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON. THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS NO LONGER ON WHEN I STARTED THE CAR SEVERAL DAYS LATER - I DIDN'T DRIVE IT FOR OBVIOUS SAFETY REASONS. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC FOR A DIAGNOSTIC WHO TOLD ME THAT THE VEHICLE IS IN NEED OF A NEW CRANK SHAFT SENSOR AND TWO CAM SHAFT SENSORS - THAT ALL THREE SHOULD BE REPLACED AT THE SAME TIME. I CALLED JEEP, AFTER A FRIEND SENT ME A RECALL NOTICE ON 2016 JEEP COMPASSES WITH THIS SAME ISSUE. I WAS INFORMED THAT MY CAR'S VIN DID NOT MATCH THE VEHICLES THAT WERE RECALLED DESPITE EXPERIENCING THE SAME DANGEROUS MECHANICAL MALFUNCTION.

WHEN THE VECHILE IS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT OR STOP SIGN THE MOTOR WILL JUST STALL WE WILL HAVE TO PUT IT IN PARK AND THEN START IT AGAIN AND IT WILL BE FINE IT DOESN'T HAPPEN ALL THE TIME BUT I HAVE HAD IT A YEAR AND IT'S HAPPENED 4 TIMES AND WE JUST HAD THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED AND IT'S STILL DOING IT

THE VEHICLE STALLS INTERMITTENTLY. WHEN I'M ON THE HIGHWAY OR JUST DRIVING SOMETIMES. THERE WASN'T ANY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON OR ANYTHING. FOUND OUT IT WAS THE CRANKCASE SENSOR. I SAW THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE WHERE HAVING THIS ISSUE. *TR

I WAS PULLING OUT OF THE PARKING LOT AT WORK WHEN MY HEADREST JUST EXPLODED AND HIT ME IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD. I HADN'T HIT ANYTHING OR STOP SUDDENLY I WAS JUST PULLING OUT OF A PARKING LOT. I HEARD A POP AND THEN GOT HIT IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD FROM THE HEADRESTS.

THE CAR IS AUTOMATIC BUT STALLED AS IF IT WERE MANUAL. WHEN I COME TO A SUDDEN STOP IT WOULD STALL OUT & SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. MOSTLY HAPPENS AT STREET LIGHTS & STOP SIGNS. IF I ACCELERATE FROM A STOPPED POSITION FOR EX: TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC OR TO GO AT A GREEN LIGHT. IT JUMPS AS IF NOT BEING ABLE TO CATCH A GEAR SHIFT. WHEN BROUGHT TO THE MACHANIC, THEY DIDNT NOTICE ANYTHING WRONG UNDER THE HOOD. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING ON A REGULAR BASIS SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR IN 2017. I'M WORRIED IT WOULD CAUSE A CRASH.

EVERY. SINGLE. TIME I TRY TO OPEN MY HOOD, THE RELEASE LOCATED UNDER THE HOOD (NOT INSIDE THE VEHICLE) WILL NOT MOVE. I HAVE HAD TO USE A BOARD TO PRY THE LEVER OVER AND HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAD TO USE A GIANT SCREWDRIVER. IT IS PRACTICALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO OPEN THE HOOD BY MYSELF. JUST NOW I TRIED PUSHING THE LEVER WITH A BOARD AS I HAVE DONE BEFORE, BUT THE LATCH WILL NOT BUDGE EVEN THEN--IF ANYTHING IT ONLY MOVES FURTHER ONTO THE "RING" INSTEAD OF OFF FROM IT. IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY, IE. A BEGINNING FIRE OR POSSIBLE FIRE IN THE ENGINE, I WOULD NOT EVEN BE ABLE TO GET A FIRE EXTINGUISHER IN THERE, I WOULD JUST HAVE TO STAND BACK AND WATCH MY CAR GO UP IN FLAMES. WHEN I MADE IT HOME I ENTERED MY VIN ON VEHICLE HISTORY.COM AND IT STARTED RECALL CAMPAIGN 16V907000 FOR MY CAR HOWEVER ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE IT SAYS THERE IS NOT. IM GOING TO CONTACT A JEEP DEALER IN THE MORNING TO SEE IF IT CAN BE FIXED.

I BELIEVE MY VEHICLE FITS RECALL OF THE CANAM OR POWER TRAIN SENSOR THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED. MY ENGINE KEEPS COMING ON. THE CAR BUCKS BUT NOT ALL THE TIME. FEELS LIKE SOMETHING GOING ON WITH TRAINMISIION AND AT 87,000 THAT IMPOSSIBLE. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS MATTER. YES BELIEVE RECALL FITS MY CAR

WHILE DRIVING MOSTLY ON HIGHWAY CAR HESITATES LIKE IT WILL STALL OR NOT GETTING ENOUGH GAS. HAD COILS REPLACED BUT AFTER AWHILE DID SAME THING. AFRAID TO DRIVE CAR AS MAY CAUSE ACCIDENT. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR A FEW MONTHS GOING BACK AND FORTH TO DEALER UNSUCCESSFULLY. NEED TO KNOW WHAT TO DO BEFORE SERIOUS ACCIDENT OCCURS.

I BOUGHT A 2016 JEEP COMPASS BRAND NEW FROM THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER ONLY THREE YEARS (72,500 MILES), THE TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY FAILED WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY. THE JEEP, WHICH IS A MANUAL 5 SPEED TRANSMISSION, WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO ANY GEARS. IT MADE HORRENDOUS GRINDING NOISES AS THE VEHICLE FAILED AND FAILED TO SHIFT INTO GEAR. PRIOR TO IT COMPLETELY DYING, IT WAS STALLING OUT ON ME AND SLIPPING OUT OF SECOND GEAR WHILE DRIVING IT. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN, NOT TO MENTION HOW DISAPPOINTING THAT A CAR WHICH IS ONLY THREE YEARS OLD WOULD HAVE A TRANSMISSION THAT COMPLETELY FAILED ON IT. THE JEEP WAS WELL-MAINTAINED AND GARAGE KEPT. IT WAS NEVER DRIVEN ANYWHERE EXCEPT MAIN ROADS AND HIGHWAYS.

FORTUNATELY, NO PASSENGER WAS SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AT THE TIME OF DEPLOYMENT. IT MADE A REALLY LOUD NOISE WHEN IT DEPLOYED STARTLING DRIVER, CAUSING DRIVER TO SWERVE AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. IT APPEARS A PIECE OF PLASTIC BROKE OFF INSIDE THE HEADREST CAUSING THE HEADREST TO DEPLOY.

MY THROTTLE BODY SENSOR IS COMING ON AND CAUSING MY ENGINE TO BUCK AND STALL WHILE DRIVING (HAPPENS AT ANYTIME). I UNDERSTAND THERE IS A RECALL ON SOME 2016 MODELS BUT SHOULD BE ACROSS THE BOARD FOR 2016. I AM LITERALLY PAYING OUT OF POCKET FOR A KNOWN ISSUE FOR THAT YEAR.

I NEAR CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WITH THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC ON THE HIGHWAY

JEEP WILL NOT START WITH KEY. THEN I HAD TO PRESS ON GAS TO GET CAR TO START, NOW IT DOESN'T START AT ALL WITH KEY. I HAVE TO USE MY AUTOMATIC STARTER TO GET MY CAR TO START THEN PUT MY KEY IN. THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED. THIS IS NOT SAFE, AND OBVIOUSLY A JEEP PROBLEM. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS, AND SO MANY JEEP OWNERS HAVE THIS PROBLEM.

ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO MY CAR STARTED STALLING OUT ON ME OUT OF NOWHERE, I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC SO THEY COULD TRY TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM, THEY THOUGHT IT WAS THE BATTERY SO I BOUGHT A NEW ONE( $183). 2 DAYS LATER THE CAR STARTED STALLING OUT ON ME AGAIN WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY A COP HAD TO PUSH MY CAR OUT OF THE WAY BECAUSE I WAS BLOCKING TRAFFIC AND IN AN UNSAFE LOCATION, I HAD TO GET IT TOWED ($80) & TOOK IT TO A DIFFERENT MECHANIC TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM ($198) THEY SAID MY CAR HAD A SAFETY RECALL DUE TO THE CRANKSHAFT/CAMSHAFT SENSOR THEY RECOMMENDED THAT I SHOULD TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THAT IS THE MANUFACTURERS FAULT AND CHRYSLER WILL FIX IT FOR FREE. WHEN I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY SAID MY CAR DOES NOT QUALIFY AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO REDIAGNOSE MY CAR FOR $200 AND PAY $540 FOR THEM TO FIX THIS ISSUE WHICH I AM NOT AT FAULT FOR. I ASKED IF I WOULD BE ABLE TO GET A RENTAL THROUGH THEM THEY SAID I WOULD HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR IT. I STARTED A CASE WITH CHRYSLER ON 07/29 AND AM STILL WAITING ON THE SPECIALIST TO REVIEW THIS. I AM FRUSTRATED. EVERY DAY THAT GOES BY IS ANOTHER DAY THAT I HAVE TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET TO WORK WHETHER IT BE ASKING FOR A RIDE OR PAYING FOR A RENTAL OUT OF POCKET. WHILE GETTING ONTO A HIGHWAY, MY RPMS DROPPED AND I TEMPORARILY LOST POWER STEERING AND STARTED SLOWING DOWN, THEN IT "CAUGHT" AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT STRAIGHT TO A CAR PLACE TO GET THE FREE DIAGNOSTICS. EVERYTHING CAME BACK NORMAL SO I LEFT. LATER IN THE DAY AS I WAS PULLING OUT OF MY NEIGHBORHOOD IT STALLED AGAIN AND COMPLETELY SHUT OFF THIS TIME. WHEN TRYING TO TURN IT ON AGAIN IT EITHER WOULD BUT THEN WOULD IMMEDIATELY STALL AGAIN OR IT WOULD JUST NEVER START. WHILE TRYING TO TURN IT ON, ALL THE DASH LIGHTS LIGHT UP INCLUDING CHECK ENGINE, WHICH HAS NOT BEEN ON UNTIL THE CAR STALLED THE SECOND TIME.

MY VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN DOWN A HIGHWAY AND WAS PULLED OVER IN THE EARLY MORNING BY A STATE TROOPER. THE OFFICER CAME UP TO THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO TAIL LIGHTS. WE WERE GIVING A WARNING AND WAS TOLD TO GET IT FIXED AND WE WERE ON OUR WAY AGAIN. SINCE THEN STILL HAVEN'T COME UP WITH A SOLUTION TO FIX IT. ALL OTHER LIGHTS LIKE HEAD LIGHTS, REVERSE LIGHTS, TURN SIGNALS, BRAKES LIGHTS AND BRIGHT LIGHTS ALL WORK JUST NOT THE TAIL LIGHTS. I BELIEVE THAT IT IS SOMETHING WITH THE TIPM BECAUSE I RAN A DIAGNOSTIC ON IT AND WAS GIVEN A CODE WHICH ALSO STATED THE TIPM READING IS LOW. IT HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED YET DUE TO HOW MUCH IT COASTS TO GET IT REPAIRED.

WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 (FIFTEEN) MILES ON A CITY STREET, I NOTICED MY CAR HAD CONSUMED 1/3 OF A FULL FUEL TANK. AT THE DEALERSHIP, THEY REPLACED AN ABS SENSOR AND A FEW TIRE SENSORS. SINCE THEN ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS THE VEHICLE HAS RANDOMLY AND INTERMITTENTLY STALLED WHILE DRIVING. I CAN BE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND THE VEHICLE WILL RANDOMLY LOSE ACCELERATION, POWER STEERING, AND BRAKES. IT HAS HAPPENED AFTER A TURN, WHILE JUST GOING STRAIGHT AT 45 MPH, WHILE IN STOP-AND-GO TRAFFIC, AND WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE AFTER SITTING AT A RED LIGHT. THERE IS NO RHYME OR REASON. THE IGNITION HAS TO BE TURNED OFF AND TURNED BACK ON TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. I HAVE NEARLY CAUSED A COLLISION TWICE. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP ON JUNE 22ND AND THEY HAD MY CAR UNTIL JUNE 25TH. THEY REPLACED THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION CARRIAGE, AND SOME FRAYED WIRING. THE ISSUE HAPPENED 3 MORE TIMES AFTER THOSE REPAIRS. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP ON JUNE 27TH AND IT IS STILL IN THE SHOP (TODAY IS JULY 2ND). THEY ARE TELLING ME THEY CANNOT RECREATE THE PROBLEM AND WANT ME TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK WITHOUT DOING ANY REPAIRS. I AM NOW WORKING WITH THE GM AND CFO OF THE DEALERSHIP TO TRY AND RESOLVE THIS AND I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH CHRYSLER (CASE #59096741). I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND I REFUSE TO PUT MY CHILDREN IN IT. ALL SERVICE RECORDS THAT I HAVE ARE INSIDE THE VEHICLE AT THE DEALERSHIP.

AFTER PULLING OVER AND TURNING THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON THE ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON AND THE OTHER LIGHTS GO OFF BUT AFTER DRIVING A BIT THE PROBLEM OCCURS AGAIN. AFTER RESEARCHING ONLINE THERE ARE MANY REPORTS OF THIS HAPPENING TO OTHER JEEP COMPASSES. PLEASE NOTE THIS HAS HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY IT HAS BEEN A PARTICULARLY SCARY SITUATION DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE JEEP RAPIDLY DECELERATES AND THE TRAFFIC BEHIND ME HAS HAD DIFFICULTY SLOWING AS QUICKLY.

I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT ON FEBRUARY 28, 2019 WHEN I VEERED OFF INTO A DITCH, MY VEHICLE FLEW INTO THE AIR AFTER HITTING A DRIVEWAY, AND FLIPPED AT ABOUT 55 MPH. I WAS DRIVING ON A RURAL FARM TO MARKET ROAD. I WAS DRIVING AND THE ONLY ONE IN THE VEHICLE. MY SEATBELT NEVER LOCKED AS I WRECKED. IT WAS BUCKLED BUT NEVER ENGAGED. I SUBMITTED TO JEEP FOR REVIEW AND THEY DENIED MY CLAIM AND SAID THE SEATBELT WAS WORKING PROPERLY. MY SEATBELT WAS ALL THE WAY STRETCHED OUT AND EVEN FRAYED AT THE TOP WHERE THE LOOP IS. MY L1 INSTANTLY BLEW UP INTO MY SPINAL CORD AND I SUFFERED SEVERE INJURIES.

MY CAR HAS NOT BEEN STARTING UP. THE CAR WOULD SIT FOR 5 MINUTES AT THE LEAST AND WOULD NOT START UP RIGHT AWAY. I WAS TOLD IT COULD BE ONE OF MY SENSORS SO I CHANGED THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR BUT AM STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS BUT WORSE. IT MAKES A CLICKING NOISE LIKE IT'S TRYING TO START BUT WON'T AND THE LIGHTS FLICKER, EVERYTHING RESETS BUT DOESN'T TURN ON. NOW IT DOES THIS ANY TIME I TRY TO START THE CAR. AT SOME POINTS THE LIGHTS WOULD GO OFF IN ITS OWN AND COKE BACK ON OR JUST FLICKER AFTER IT HAS BEEN STARTED. IF AND WHEN I CAN FINALLY GET IT STARTED, WHEN I PRESS THE GAS TO ACCELERATE OR GOING UP A HILL, IT HESITATES AND PULLS BACK HARD. I THEN CAME ACROSS THIS PARTICULAR RECALL ON MY EXACT VEHICLE AND WONDERED IF MAYBE THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE CAUSING THE SAME PROBLEMS. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A FEW MONTHS NOW.

THE BRAKE FAILURE RECURRED. THE ACCELERATION FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,117.

RIDE DOWN THE HIGHWAY GOING 70 AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE SPEEDOMETER BEGINS TO DECREASE. I HAD ALL POWER, BUT NO ACCELERATION. I PULLED OF THE ROAD AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. TURNED IT BACK ON AND IT RANNED FINE. NOT MORE THAN 5 MINUTES ITS WAS BACK NO ACCELERATION. SO THANK GOD I WAS ABLE TO USE THE FORCE FROM THE HILL TO CRUISE ON HOME ON THE BACK ROADS. THE CAR IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD AT 79,000 MILES. SO NO WARRANTY!!! IT HAS TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP! NEW VEHICLE SHOULD NOT BE HAVING PROBLEMS LIKE THIS!!!!

AT 60,000 MILES A WHOMP, WHOMP NOICE STARTED FROM THE REAR OF THE JEEP WHILE DRIVING. MOST NOTICEABLE AT 45 TO 55 MPH ON HIGHWAY. DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED IT AS A REAR HUB BEARING. TOTAL COST FOR REPAIR WAS $613.00 BEFORE TAX.

I TOOK MY CAR TO GET FIXED AND THE JEEP COMPASS WAS HAVING ISSUES WITH THE CRANKSHAFT MY CRANKSHAFT HAVE TO BE COMPLETELY REPLACED AND I JUST FOUND OUT THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE 2016 JEEP COMPASSES. I TOOK VEHICLE TO JEEP DEALERSHIP AND WAS ADVISED THAT THE CAUSE IS THE CRANKSHAFT CENSOR BUT IM BEING CHARGED $350 FOR THIS SAME BAD PART BECAUSE MY VEHICLE IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. I ALMOST DIES ON THE HIGHWAY DUE TO THIS FAULTY PART. I TOOK MY CAR TO 3 MECHANICS AND WILL OUT OF POCKET $800 BECAUSE THE RECALL DID NOT EXTEND TO MY VEHICLE. ITS WRONG AND EXTREMELY UNSAFE!!!!

I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WENT OUT WITH THE SERVICE MGR AND REPLICATED THE ISSUE. CAR DID NOT STALL AT THAT TIME AND I WAS TOLD WITH NO CODES, OR NOT BEING ABLE TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE THEY CANNOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE. SPARK PLUGS REPLACED $300 LATER NO JUMPING BUT CAR IS STILL STALLING!!!!!!! THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE SITUATION. WAITED ANOTHER MINUTE,TRIED AGAIN AND THE CAR STARTED AND NOW THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. I DROVE TO WORK AT 55 MPH WITH FLASHERS ON - TOTALLY UNSAFE ON THE PA TURNPIKE. I CALLED MY DEALER IMMEDIATELY AND LEFT ANOTHER MESSAGE FOR THE SERVICE MGR AROUND 3AM THAT THIS HAPPENED AGAIN. HE ADVISED TAKE TO AN AUTO ZONE TO HAVE THE CODE CHECKED SINCE THEY DO FOR FREE. I HAVE NO CONFIDENCE IN THIS CAR-I DRIVE ALMOST 2 HRS TO GO TO WORK I AM SO SCARED OF THIS CAR AND AFRAID I AM GOING TO GET KILLED ON THE TURNPIKE BECAUSE OF THIS. I STRONGLY BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SINCE THEN HAVE MADE SURE TO DOUBLE CHECK BY PULLING ON IT TO SEE IF IT'S FULLY ENGAGED. EVERY SINGLE TIME I DRIVE THE VEHICLE THE MOTOR RANDOMLY STALLS OUT WHILE DRIVING SEVERAL DIFFERENT TIMES. MY CAR IS VERY WELL MAINTAINED AND DRIVEN EASILY AND EVEN WITH THE GAS PEDAL UNDER LIGHT LOAD IT STALLS OUT LEAVING ME IMMOBILE OR THE VEHICLE MISFIRING AND JERKING FORWARD VIOLENTLY STRUGGLING TO DRIVE WHICH PUTS MY CHILDREN AND I IN DANGEROUS OR POTENTIALLY DEADLY SITUATIONS. THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. THIS IS DUE TO A BAD CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR AND OR BAD WIRING FROM THE FACTORY. WHEN I TYPE MY VIN NUMBER INTO THE NHTSA WEBSITE FOR RECALLS IT SAYS MY VEHICLE HAS NO ACTIVE RECALLS. THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHER JEEP COMPASS'S OF THE SAME YEAR AND MODEL WITH THIS EXACT ISSUE UNDER RECALL AND MY VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE INCLUDED IN THAT RECALL AS WELL. MY CAR IS ONLY TWO YEARS OLD IT SHOULD BE A RELATIVELY SAFE AND RELIABLE VEHICLE NOT SOMETHING I WORKED SO HARD TO BUY AND AN AFFRAID TO DRIVE.

CRANK SHAFT SENSOR , CAR STALLS, FIRST STARTED IN JULY 2018...CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THREW BACK CODE FOR CRANK SHAFT SENSOR

MY JEEP COMPASS 2016 HAD BEEN TO THE MECHANIC IN 2 DIFFERENT GARAGES. FOR 60 DAYS I'VE EXPERIENCED ENGINE SHUT OFF WHILE IN MOTION. THERE WAS NO WARNING, NO ENGINE LIGHT. NO WARNING WHAT SO EVER. THIS SITUATION WAS VERY DANGEROUS AS MY CAR WOULD LOSE POWER IN THE MIDDLE OF THE 4 WAY INTERSECTION, IT WOULD SHUT OFF ON THE FREEWAY. STALL OUT AND SHUT OFF AT STOP LIGHTS. I WAS AFRAID OF DRIVING MY CAR BUT I HAD TO GET TO WORK WHICH WAS 30 MILES AWAY FROM MY HOME. 2 MECHANICS TOLD ME THAT THE ENGINE ON DIAGNOSTIC TESTING SHOWED NO CODES, THEY DID NOT KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT. FINALLY A MECHANIC LOOKED AT MY RESEARCH AND AGREED TO REPLACE THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR WHICH HAD BEEN RECALLED ON 2016 COMPASS JEEP BUT MY VIN WAS NOT UNDER THE RECALL (WHY) AFTER THIS SENSOR WAS REPLACED THE CAR DROVE PERFECTLY, NO MORE STALLED ENGINE AND SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. I BELEIVE THAT JEEP CHRYSLER SHOULD PAY FOR THIS REPAIR AS IT IS A 2016 JEEP COMPASS AND THEY HAVE FIXED OTHERS. I WILL NEVER BUY A JEEP OR CHRYSLER. MOST SCARY CAR PROBLEM I EVER ENCOUNTERED. I AM A 55 YEAR OLD DRIVER, HAVING DRIVEN OVER A MILLION MILES IN MY LIFE TIME. TO HAVE A CAR SHUT OFF ITS ENGINE IN MID FLIGHT IS VERY DANGEROUS. WE BROUGHT IT TO A MECHANIC WHO TOLD ME HE COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT AS THE DIAGNOSTIC TESTS SHOWED NOTHING , HE STARTED IT AND CLAIMED HE DROVE DOWN THE RODE AND BACK AND IT WAS FINE. I PICKED UP MY JEEP AND DROVE IT HOME BUT WAS AFRAID TO DRIVE IT ANYWHERE. I CALLED MECHANIC NUMBER 2 WHO TOOK A LOOK AT IT AND TOLD ME HIS DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT SHOWED NO CODE, HE DROVE IT AND COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM HE REPAIRED THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACE IT AND CLEANED IAC VALVE AND MASS AIR FLOW SENSORS. THERE IS SOMETHING VERY SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH THIS JEEP IT COULD EASILY BE INVOLVED IN A COLLISION AS IT IS UNPREDICTABLE WHEN IT WILL STOP, ENGINE DIES. I WILL TAKE IT BACK TO MECHANIC NUMBER 2 FOR A SECOND EVALUATION. I HAVE CALLED THE DEALER. THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD CHARGE ME FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND IF NO PROBLEM I WOULD HAVE TO PAY THEM $117 FOR THE HOUR THEY WOULD PUT THE MECHANIC ON IT TO CHECK IT.

VEHICLE WAS GOING TO BE TOWED BUT IT RESUMED TO RUN AFTER 30 MIN. NORMALLY. VERY BIZARRE!!!!!

CAR IS NOT ON RECALL LIST BUT IS ACTING THE SAME AS THE RECALL 2016 JEEP COMPASS CRANKSHAFT OR CAMSHAFT SENSOR. KEY NOT WORKING SOMETIMES AND CAR WILL NOT GO PAST 20 . IN SHOP MORE THAN WE HAVE HAD IT.

AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE AND LETTING IT RUN FOR A FEW MINUTES, WE TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND LEFT THE VEHICLE. WITHIN A FEW MINUTES, WE NOTICED A FIRE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. WE ATTEMPTED TO PUT OUT THE FIRE WITH THREE EXTINGUISHERS BUT WERE NOT ABLE TO DO SO. ANOTHER EMPLOYEE CALLED 911 AND THE LOCAL FIRE DPT. PUT OUT THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS A TOTAL LOSS. WE CONTACTED CHRYSLER WHO SENT AN INVESTIGATOR TO INSPECT THE DAMAGE. CHRYSLER LATER SENT US AN E-MAIL STATING THEY COULD NOT DETERMINE THAT THE FIRE WAS A RESULT OF A "MANUFACTURING OR ASSEMBLY ERROR". WE BELIEVE THE DAMAGE IS A RESULT OF A DEFECT IN THE VEHICLE. EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY, CHRYSLER REFUSES TO COVER THE LOSS.

ON 12 JAN 2017 A LADY BACKED INTO MY CAR AT APPROX 35 MPH AND DESTROYED THE PASSENGER DOORS - THE ENTIRE RIGHT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE - THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY RESULTING IN INJURIES TO MY SON AND MYSELF. I WAS PARKING IN A PARKING LOT AT THE TIME AND SHE WAS BACKING OUT AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED WITHOUT LOOKING.

I MADE AN APPOINTMENT AT MY DEALERSHIP AND WAITED AROUND FOR TWO HOURS ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THEY DON'T HAVE THE PART. AFTER CALLING DEALERSHIPS AND THE JEEP HOTLINE INNUMERABLE TIMES, IT APPEARS THAT NO ONE HAS THE ACQUIRED PART. *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE ENGINE COULD STALL WHILE BEING DRIVEN DUE TO THE CAMSHAFT WIRE HARNESS BEING DEFECTIVE. *JS

MY 2016 JEEP COMPASS HAS STALLED OUT TWICE WITHIN APPROXIMATELY A 7-WEEK PERIOD. ONCE IN A PARKING LOT (2/8/2017) AND TODAY (3/29/2017) A STALL-OUT OCCURRED IN TRAFFIC. TODAY, I WAS STOPPED ON THE HIGHWAY TO MAKE A LEFT-HAND TURN. TRAFFIC WAS BACKED-UP, SO WHEN IT BEGAN TO MOVE, I MOVED MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE TO THE GAS PEDAL TO MAKE THE TURN, AND THE JEEP STALLED. I PUT THE JEEP IN NEUTRAL, AND IT IMMEDIATELY STARTED. HOWEVER, THIS WAS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. BETWEEN THE STALL-OUTS, THE VEHICLE WILL "JERK" PERIODICALLY, ESPECIALLY AFTER SLOWING DOWN AND THEN HAVING TO ACCELERATE. THESE HARD "JERKS" HAVE BECOME MORE FREQUENT AND ARE OCCURRING ON A DAILY BASIS. BOTH ISSUES APPEAR TO OCCUR WHEN SPEED IS LOWER AND/OR HAVE TO DECELERATE OR ACCELERATE BECAUSE OF TRAFFIC. ALSO, IF THE VEHICLE HAS SAT OVERNIGHT OR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME. NO LIGHTS APPEAR ON THE DASHBOARD DURING THESE "JERKS" OR STALL-OUTS. TODAY WILL MAKE THE 4TH TIME WITHIN THE SEVEN-WEEK PERIOD I WILL HAVE THE VEHICLE BACK AT THE DEALERSHIP'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE NEW AND HAVE HAD IT LESS THAN ONE YEAR. IT HAS APPROXIMATELY 11,500 MILES ON IT.

WHEN IT IS RAINING OR WHEN THE SNOW ON MY JEEP BEGINS TO MELT, THE SUNROOF LEAKS. THE SUNROOF CONTROLLS AND OVERHEAD LIGHTS (WHICH IS LOCATED NEXT TO THE SUNROOF) FILLS UP WITH WATER AND LEAK ALL OVER; ON THE DRIVER, FRONT PASSENGER, DASHBOARD, ETC. CREATING A DISTRACTION WHILE ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE

ON DECEMBER 9, 2016 I RENTED A JEEP COMPASS AND ON THAT DAY I HAD A ROLL OVER ACCIDENT. I WAS DRIVING IN THE COUNTRY. VERY LOW TRAFFIC AREA. BEFORE APPLYING THE BRAKE, I WAS DRIVING AT A SAFE SPEED FOR THE ROAD CONDITIONS - FIFTEEN TO TWENTY MPH ON FRESH SNOW AND SOME PACKED SNOW OVER A PAVED ROAD BASE. AT ABOUT TWENTY TO TWENTY FIVE FEET BEFORE A STOP SIGN I BEGAN TO APPLY THE BRAKE. THE BRAKE DID NOTHING. THERE WAS CLICKING NOISES AND THE COMPASS SEEMED TO ACCELERATE. I CONTINUED TO APPLY THE BRAKE AS I ROLLED THROUGH THE STOP AREA FOR THE STOP SIGN. THE PAVED ROAD ENDED AT THE STOP SIGN AND TURNED INTO A DIRT ROAD BASE. AT THIS POINT I TURNED THE WHEEL AS THE MOMENTUM CONTINUED. I WAS HOPING THE DIRT ROAD BASE WOULD PROVIDE GRAB FOR THE TURNED FRONT TIRES AND STEER THE COMPASS TO THE DIRECTION OF THE DIRT ROAD. THERE WAS NO GRAB AND THE COMPASS CONTINUED TO DRIVE ACROSS THE DIRT ROAD FOR ABOUT ANOTHER TWENTY FEET AS I CONTINUED TO APPLY THE BRAKE. I HAD APPLIED THE BRAKE FOR ABOUT FORTY-FIVE FEET WHEN I SEE THE TEN FOOT DROP DITCH AHEAD OF ME. THE COMPASS DIDN'T SLOW, EVER. IT SEEMED TO ACCELERATE. IT WOULDN'T BE DIRECTED BY STEERING IT. I HAD NO CONTROL OVER IT. AT THIS POINT I DID ALL THAT I COULD THINK OF TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. I LOOKED AT THE DITCH AND KNEW THAT THE SUV AND I WOULD RECEIVE DAMAGE. THE COMPASS ROLLED INTO THE DITCH. WHEN THE SUV FINALLY STOPPED I WAS UP SIDE DOWN. FOR ME TO BEST DESCRIBE THIS JEEP COMPASS IS THAT IT WAS A "TERMINATOR". IT HAD A MIND OF ITS OWN. ONCE I APPLIED THE BRAKE, I HAD NO CONTROL OVER IT. *TR

I WAS ON A VACATION TRIP AND MY SON WAS DRIVING. THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND HE CRASHED INTO A POLE. MY WIFE AND I THOUGHT THE STEERING WAS ROUGH BUT THOUGHT IT WOULD EASE UP. AFTER THE CAR WAS HIT THE AXEL ON THE RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE WAS DESTROYED. HE WASN'T MOVING FAST ENOUGH FOR THE AXEL TO GET DAMAGED WHICH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THE AXEL WAS POORLY CONSTRUCTED IN THE FIRST PLACE. NO MY CAR IS STUCK IN A FRIEND'S DRIVEWAY WITH NO WAY OF GETTING IT HOME. THIS HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE.

SEVERE TIRE WEAR ON JEEP COMPASS ON 05/12/16 I TOOK A RENTAL CAR (JEEP COMPASS, MILEAGE: 10417) IN LAS VEGAS. ON 05/26/16, JUST AS WE HAD PASSED THE MOUNTAIN ROUTES FROM DURANGO TO OURAY, I DISCOVERED BY CHANCE THAT BOTH FRONT TIRES WERE COMPLETELY WORN OUT ON THE INSIDE (SEE PHOTOS). I DID NOT DISCOVER IT EARLIER, BECAUSE THE TIRE TREAD WAS O.K. ON THE OUTSIDE AND THE BODY HIDED THE REST OF THE TIRE. THEN I DROVE VERY SLOWLY. SOON AFTER CAME THE WARNING LIGHT FOR THE TIRE PRESSURE: THE LEFT FRONT TIRE LOST PRESSURE (MILEAGE APPROXIMATELY: 12250). I CHANGED THE WHEEL AND WAS HOPING THAT THE RIGHT TIRE HELD AIR TO THE NEAREST TOWN. WE REACHED THE TOWN WITHOUT FURTHER PROBLEM. AS I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE TIRE SHOP, THEY TOLD ME, THAT THE TOE WAS COMPLETELY WRONG AND THAT WHEEL ALIGNMENT WOULD BE NECESSARY (SEE ALIGNMENT REPORT). SUMMARY: THE CAUSE OF THIS SYMMETRIC TIRE WEAR IS MYSTERIOUS: THE CAR HAD RELATIVELY FEW MILES AND THERE WAS NO EVENT (SUCH AS AN IMPACT TO THE WHEELS), THAT POSSIBLY COULD HAVE CHANGED THE TOE. NEVERTHELESS I THINK, THE CAR WAS NOT ROADWORTHY AND I'M GLAD I NOTICED THE PROBLEM BEFORE IT CAME TO AN ACCIDENT. I SEND THIS REPORT FROM GERMANY. AFTER AN UNEVENTFUL DRIVE TO A STORE, WHEN I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND ATTEMPTED TO PULL OUT OF THE PARKING LOT INTO MOVING TRAFFIC, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED VERY SLUGGISHLY, LIKE IT WAS STUCK IN TOP GEAR OR THE ENGINE WASN'T ABLE TO BE REV'ED UP. PUSHING ACCELERATOR TO FLOOR CAUSED ENGINE TO REV UP TO APPROXIMATELY 3500 RPM ONLY, AND RATE OF ACCELERATION DID NOT IMPROVE. TRIED SHIFTING INTO NEUTRAL AND BACK INTO DRIVE. THIS DID NOT RESTORE THE EXPECTED ACCELERATION BEHAVIOR. TRIED TO PUT TRANSMISSION INTO MANUAL SHIFT MODE BY MOVING GEAR SHIFT LEFT OR RIGHT, BUT GEAR INDICATOR IN INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SHOWED THAT TRANSMISSION DID NOT SWITCH INTO MANUAL SHIFT MODE; IT STAYED IN FULL-AUTOMATIC MODE. PULLED OVER AND TURNED ENGINE OFF, THEN RESTARTED ENGINE. EXPECTED ACCELERATION BEHAVIOR RESTORED AFTER RESTARTING ENGINE.

THIS CAR WAS A RENTAL CAR. MY SPOUSE WAS DRIVING THIS CAR AND WAS INVOLVED IN A CAR ACCIDENT. HE WAS HIT BY A CAR AND THEN PUSHED INTO ANOTHER CAR. THE JEEP WAS TOTALED BUT YET NOT ONE AIRBAG WAS EVER DEPLOYED. THERE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE SIX AIRBAGS IN THIS VEHICLE BUT NOT ONE EVER DEPLOYED. MY HUSBAND SUFFERED A MINOR HEAD INJURY AS A RESULT.

WHILE AT MILOSCH PALACE CHRYSLER JEEP DEALERSHIP IN LAKE ORION I NOTICED THE POWER STEERING RETURN HOSE WAS CONTACTING THE FRONT SUSPENSION SWAY BAR AT STATIONARY CURB CONDITION. THIS IS A DESIGN VIOLATION WHICH I TOLD FCA ABOUT WHEN I WORKED THERE IN 2014. THE ISSUE HAS EXISTED NOW FROM JULY OF 2014 UNTIL NOW. THE HOSE CAN WEAR A HOLE IN IT DUE TO A 2 INCH RUBBING INTERFERENCE WITH SUSPENSION MOVEMENT AND THE VEHICLE WILL LOSE STEERING ASSIST AND POWER STEERING FLUID CAN SPRAY IN THE EXHAUST SYSTEM CAUSING A FIRE.
