Recent Owner Complaints
Direct reports filed with NHTSA by Toyota Camry owners — 2022–2026 model years.
The contact owns a 2026 Toyota Camry Hybrid. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V869000 (HYBRID PROPULSION SYSTEM); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle made an abnormal rattling and humming sound. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the vehicle was operating as designed as a hybrid vehicle. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle might stall while driving. The dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact sent a letter to the manufacturer, but had not received a response yet. The failure mileage was approximately 45.
The manufacturer has no solution to the recall of my vehicle. I cannot drive the vehicle due to a risk of the powertrain shutting down or worse, a fire. It’s been months that I cannot use the vehicle. I think the manufacturer should buy the vehicle back.
The vehicle experienced a safety-related issue involving the hybrid system, which may cause sudden loss of power while driving. This issue is associated with a manufacturer recall (Toyota campaign 25TB15). Due to the risk of power loss, the vehicle was deemed unsafe to drive. The vehicle was taken to a dealership for repair, where the issue was confirmed. However, no repair has been completed. The vehicle has remained at the dealership for over 3 months without a confirmed repair timeline. This creates a significant safety concern, as loss of power while driving could increase the risk of a crash, especially at highway speeds. No accident, fire, or injury has occurred, as the vehicle has not been driven due to the safety risk.
The contact owns a 2026 Toyota Camry Hybrid. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V869000 (Hybrid Propulsion System). The local dealer was contacted and offered a loaner. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted regarding a buyback, but no assistance was provided. The contact had not experienced a failure.
Vin was not located on the rear camera recall, rear camera does not activate when trans is placed in reverse, first started reverse camera screen would go blank, now screen remains on home and doesnt acknowledge camera , blind spot not active, rear collision detection system not active
The radio/audio system has twice stopped working completely during travel--without warning--which is a safety issue since no emergency alerts can be received. The outage cannot be fixed by turning off the radio or any known practical intervention while the vehicle is moving. Audio reading of incoming text messages also fails. AM/FM/SiriusXM are all affected. Audio resumes at the next vehicle start-up. The vehicle is available for inspection. Safety is compromised since emergency alerts may be missed during these complete audio outages. Due to the randomness of the audio outages, independent confirmation has not been practical to date. No inspection by manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others has been requested or yet occurred. Other than the abrupt audio cut-off, no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure have been observed. Thank you.
There is a recall for this vehicle for a loose inverter bolt. NHTSA recall No. 25V-869. The inverter bolt can become loose leading to a loss of drive power or fire while vehicle is on which can cause an accident, injury, or loss of life/property if the above mentioned occur while operating the vehicle. Information given by Toyota Brand Engagement Center has stated the remedy was supposed to have been available in February 2026. When follow up calls were made after February passed with no recall update, Toyota stated that the remedy should be available by the end of the 1st quarter. When the first quarter passed with still no update regarding the recall, another follow up call was made to Toyota with no updates available and no idea when an update could occur or when a remedy could possibly become available. They have failed to provide an update to the recall and when its potential remedy will be available in a timely manner allowing the continued use of these vehicles, knowing the potential for sudden loss of drive power could lead to accidents with the potential for catastrophic outcomes such as loss of life. This delay in remedy seems unacceptable and reckless at minimum.
I am filing a complaint against our 2026 Toyota Camry XLE AWD, this complaint probably impacts all new cars. I have no issues with the mechanics or the car, its mileage, etc. However, the so-called safety features, what you call ADAS, are nothing more than a driver distraction. The reason for the complaint is that there is no means by which these distractions can be permanently disabled. I understand that there was a law suit a number of years ago whose outcome resulted in the distractions being permanently on. However, this is wrong! Adding a disable feature to the system is trivial; and to avoid future lawsuits, only allowing the dealership to activate this feature once the car owner signs a form that prevents them from filing suits is easily accomplished. I urge you to change the rules so these distraction features can be disabled. They are certainly going to cause accidents because the driver pays attention to the car and not that which is happening outside the car.
The contact owns a 2026 Toyota Camry Hybrid. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V869000 (Hybrid Propulsion System); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. The VIN was not available.
the pedal sinks while I hold it for while.....and there are no visible leaks outside the car
Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2025 Toyota Camry. The vehicle was an IAA auction sale. The contact stated that upon purchasing and picking up the vehicle from the auction dealer, the contact scanned the vehicle with an OBD reader to clear the check engine warning lights, and the odometer reading changed from 6,000 to 54,000 miles. The contact discovered the mileage discrepancy while the vehicle was still at the auction lot. The dealer was notified, but no assistance was provided. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 6,000, but it was later discovered that the mileage was 54,000 upon scanning the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2026 Toyota Camry Hybrid. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V869000 (HYBRID PROPULSION SYSTEM); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer and Toyota Walnut Creek (2100 N Broadway, Walnut Creek, CA 94596) were contacted and advised that the vehicle needed to be dropped off at the dealer and to retrieve a loaner vehicle; however, the contact declined because the contact preferred to store the vehicle in the garage. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and referred the contact to the dealer for assistance. The contact had not experienced a failure.
