Recent Owner Complaints
Direct reports filed with NHTSA by Nissan Rogue owners — 2022–2026 model years.
Our front and backup camera do not work. We took it to a Nissan dealer on April 20, 2026, and was advised that the AVM control unit has to be replaced. They found and recommended: "All system scan found AVM missing from dtc sheet. Performed can diag found AVM offline. Rec replace AVM control unit." Research shows that there is a defect in the rear wiper grommet or seal allowing water to enter the liftgate, contributing to the overall failure of the rear hatch components - water corroded the rear backup camera unit.
Multiple recalls issued, we were informed by Cochran Nissan there were “no fixes for the these recalls.” Yet this vehicle left us stranded along highways and busy roadways on numerous occasions. Leaving us in unsafe places while waiting for the vehicle to be towed. Each time multiple warning lights were illuminated and the car lost power. The final repair involved engine replacement and other extensive repairs. Only to have the engine leak oil less than a week after these extensive repairs. When the dealership could not fix the vehicle or determine the cause, h why blamed us and claimed the warranty was voided. Months of ongoing issues, repeated visits and incorrect diagnoses caused entirely by improper and inadequate repair attempts. Despite bringing the vehicle in multiple times, the repair issues were never properly resolved. Instead, the dealership repeatedly placed temporary fixes on the problem, each time making the situation worse. The technicians failed to identify or repair the root cause of the issues, resulting in additional damage and subsequent repairs that should have been covered under warranty. Instead of acknowledging these ongoing failures, the dealership blamed us for the damage and claimed that the warranty had been voided—an accusation that is both unacceptable and inaccurate given that the damage stemmed directly from their own missed diagnoses and improper repairs. Because of the dealership’s unprofessional conduct, lack of accountability, and sub-par workmanship, we ultimately no longer have the vehicle. This situation has caused significant stress, financial loss, and inconvenience to our family.
The passenger side roof is leaking water. It’s leaks through the roof and through the headliner. The water leaks onto the passenger curtain airbag before it leaks onto the headliner. It’s on the pass side between the sunroof and the passenger door of the car and on the A pillar. Worried it will affect airbag or make the roof moldy. It’s hard to see in photos but easy to see in person
Despite having recall repairs completed, I have experienced two separate accidents within a 3–4 month period and no longer feel that this vehicle is safe to operate. Given the known safety recalls associated with this model, including engine failure risks that can result in sudden loss of power, I am extremely concerned that my vehicle may still be affected by an unresolved or improperly remedied defect. This situation presents a serious safety risk to myself, my passengers, and others on the road.
I was sitting in stopped traffic when the incident occurred. My sunroof was open at the time. Without any warning or external impact, I heard a sudden loud “boom,” and the sunroof glass shattered. Glass fragments dispersed throughout the vehicle, and the lower portion of the sunroof appeared to have exploded. There were no objects, debris, or other vehicles that made contact with my car. The failure appeared to be spontaneous. Vehicle Information: Year: 2023 Make: Nissan Model: Rogue Conditions at Time of Incident: Speed: 0 mph (stopped traffic) Weather: Clear blue skies, sunny, approximately 84°F Safety Concern: This incident created a significant safety hazard. The sudden explosion of glass without warning could have caused injury to occupants or led to a loss of vehicle control if the vehicle had been in motion. I am aware that there have been other consumer reports of sunroof glass shattering unexpectedly in similar vehicles across the industry, including reports involving Nissan Rogue models. This raises concern about a potential defect in the sunroof glass or installation.
Vehicle Information • Make/Model: Nissan Rogue (2026) - purchased as a lease in August 2025 • Mileage: 7,810 • VIN: [XXX] • Date of incident: 4/20/26 • Location: Highway travel (Pennsylvania) Engine stall / sudden loss of power while driving While driving my brand new 2026 Nissan Rogue at approximately 75 mph on a highway, the vehicle suddenly and completely stalled without warning. The engine lost all power while the vehicle was in motion, resulting in an immediate and dangerous reduction in speed. There were no prior signs of malfunction before the stall. The vehicle became unable to maintain highway speed and effectively lost propulsion while in active traffic conditions. This created a serious safety hazard, as the sudden loss of power at highway speed placed me and surrounding vehicles at risk of a collision. I had to maneuver the vehicle to safety while attempting to avoid traffic. The vehicle is brand new and should not experience a complete engine stall under normal highway driving conditions. This incident raises a significant concern regarding a potential defect in engine performance, fuel delivery, transmission control, or electronic power management systems. Because the failure occurred at highway speed without warning, it represents a critical safety risk that may affect other drivers if it is a systemic issue. Actions Taken After Incident • Vehicle was brought to dealership / service center • Case opened with manufacturer (Nissan) • The vehicle was towed and currently getting the engine replaced I am requesting that NHTSA: 1. Review this incident as a potential safety defect 2. Determine whether similar complaints exist for this model/year 3. Investigate whether this issue warrants a safety recall or manufacturer investigation 4. Ensure appropriate corrective action is taken to prevent recurrence I am reporting this to ensure it is documented and reviewed as part of national safety monitoring. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
On 4/22/26, while driving on a main road, my 2022 Nissan Rogue with about 74000 miles displayed an engine malfunction warning and went into reduced power mode. This created a safety concern because the vehicle lost normal power and acceleration. This is a safety concern because the vehicle lost power in traffic. I had the vehicle inspected by a Nissan dealer, who diagnosed a failed EGR pressure sensor and a clogged EGR screen. I was given a repair estimate of 2808 dollars. I am reporting this issue because reduced power while driving can affect safe operation in traffic.
I was mailed a letter about a recall for engine bearings. When i called the dealership, they told me they did not have the parts and that Nissan would reach out. Then i received another letter so i called back and scheduled an appt. Before the appointment, the car started exhibiting stalling behavior which included causing me hit a pot hole. Then critical engine warning lights came on, so Nissan towed it to the dealership. The dealership wants $5,000 for a bad turbo and says it is not covered under the recall, only engine bearings and a turbo hose are covered. I believe the ongoing engine failures, bad manufacturing, negligence on behalf of Nissan is causing these issues and it should be covered. This can also cause the throttle body to go bad, which would be another couple thousand dollars. This car is 3 years old, and i still owe 4 years of payments for an unsafe vehicle that i can not drive. I am attempting to escalate this with Nissan, but so far, it has not been covered.
I closed the passenger door on my car and the rear window disintegrated.
On November 3, 2025, the rear window spontaneously shattered. The vehicle was parked under the carport under cover at home and was not in motion.
The contact owns a 2024 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked and turned off, the rear glass unexpectedly shattered. The contact stated that the vehicle was parked at the workplace, and camera footage provided by the Police Department confirmed that there was no external impact to the glass prior to the glass shattering. The dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 57,101.
Went to turn car on engine made knocking sounds and lost power and sputtered out. Errors came on and said "warning loss of or reduced power to the engine" as well as something else I can't remember. Every warning light came on and stayed on. Car cannot be driven and is currently being towed to Nissan.
