Recent Safety Recalls — MINI Countryman (2022–2026)
BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2025 MINI Countryman S ALL4 and JCW Countryman ALL4 vehicles. The armrest support bracket on the rear side door panel may be improperly secured, allowing the armrest to detach during an air bag deployment.
Remedy: Dealers will replace the left and right rear side door panels, free of charge. The vehicles have not been sold from dealer inventory and therefore no owner letters will be mailed. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
BMW of North America, LLC. (BMW) is recalling certain 2023-2025 BMW, MINI, and Rolls-Royce vehicles. Please see the recall report for a complete list of models and model years. The integrated brake (IB) system may malfunction and result in a loss of power brake assist or cause the Antilock Brake (ABS) and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) systems to not function properly.
Remedy: Dealers will replace the integrated brake system, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed between June and December 2024. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417 or Rolls Royce customer service at 1-877-877-3735.

Recent Owner Complaints
Direct reports filed with NHTSA by MINI Countryman owners — 2022–2026 model years.
I was driving my 2025 MINI JCW on a partly cloudy day 42degrees Fahrenheit. I was diving between 35 and 40 mph when the sunroof exploded. There weren't other vehicles nearby, and I didnt hear any rock hit, it just exploded.
The vehicle onboard screen is very slow to connect to our Android phones. This has been an issue from the very beginning. A drivetrain fault message appeared on 04/01 (NOT a joke!!) and the car was not responsive to going in reverse gear. The transmission stopped responding and we were barely able to make it to the dealership. The car wouldn't go past 40mph. We've had the car since mid-December and it only has a little over 1200 miles.
The vehicle experienced intermittent electrical failures, including screen blackouts/reboots during startup and while driving. These events affected visibility of vehicle information and settings. The drive mode selector malfunctioned, limiting the ability to select Eco, Normal, Sport, or Off-Road modes. Drive modes directly affect throttle response, braking behavior, and vehicle control. On multiple occasions, braking and acceleration behavior felt inconsistent with selected drive mode, creating safety concerns. The issue is intermittent and was reported to an authorized dealer. The dealer was unable to consistently reproduce the issue but did not dispute that the concern was reported. The vehicle remains available for inspection.
The vehicle exhibits a persistent and repeatable service brake defect involving jolting/binding at complete stops, accompanied by uneven brake application and a failure of the friction surfaces to clear oxidation during normal operation. At low speeds and during final braking load, the vehicle produces a distinct clunk/release sensation, as if braking force is abruptly released just before stopping. This creates an unexpected weight-shift and inconsistent stopping behavior. The condition has occurred consistently since approximately 4,000 miles and has persisted through multiple dealer service visits. Physical inspection shows progressive circumferential rotor banding, pitting, and corrosion on all four wheels that does not clear with normal driving. This indicates the brake pads are failing to make uniform contact with the rotors, compromising the integrity of the vehicle's primary safety system. The dealer has acknowledged the symptoms but has declined Integrated Brake (IB) Module–related repair, stating the VIN is not currently flagged for recall. However, these symptoms are materially consistent with the failure modes described in NHTSA recalls 24V-104 and 24V-697 involving the Integrated Brake Module on this platform. Despite three documented repair attempts (October 2025 – December 2025), the manufacturer has failed to rectify the underlying mechanical defect. Due to the unpredictable braking behavior and visible degradation of the braking components, I have limited the vehicle’s use and do not consider it safe for highway or emergency braking situations.
Not even 2 months from vehicle being purchased had to replace 2 tires and then 5 months later tire comes completely of the axel while driving on a highway and caused an accident were vehicles was declared total
The center display and driver display shut off while car was in motion. There was no speed indication or any information about the car available to drive safely. The computer system is occasionally slow to load. There are no indications prior to the problem happening. It has happened twice while driving. The car has less than 6,000 miles. I have reported this problem to a dealer. There have been additional problems to the software systems, and the dealer service department did a complete software reload/reflash of the system. This problem has occured after the service.
On October 10, 2025 at 8:15am my entire moonroof shattered spraying glass over myself, son and dog. This was a sunny morning 37 degrees, no traffic, no cars beside or ahead of me as starting ascent up hill. I immediately checked on everyone, called the BMW dealership and after receiving no answer on service, business and sales turned to travel down to dealership with glass still falling from roof. I bought this car October 8, 2025 so had it for 2 days maxiumum. Pulling into service bay several people crawled up to take pictures. He said a rock probably hit it but as I insisted there was NO traffic ahead or beside me. This had nothing to do with environment or any impact. The roof literally spontaneously exploded. I want to report this for others safety and to have it on record for history. As of this point I do not know what they plan to do. I have also contacted my insurance to let them know of this incident but I do not want a claim through them. This has every responsibility pointing to a warranty through their dealership and the manufacturer. Thank you.
Aug 8, 2025, I was stopped in a parking lot, I decided to roll forward, when I took my foot off the break, the car jumped 5-6 ft forward. I immediately slamed on the break to stop it from moving. The car hit with a low speed impact a pole like thing with concrete around it. The speed didn't even register on the speedometer. My car shows no damage, I have photos. However, my car immediately flashed the Yellow warning "Restraint system." along with RED highlighting both the seatbelts and airbags. I called Mini USA as instructed. Mini USA said "That warning should go away a few hours after calling. If you see no damage then it should be fine. If not, call the dealership." It did not go away. I called Schomp Mini the dealership, [XXX] who used to be the general manager said: "Call the insurance company, this sounds like it's not a mechanical defect since it is an outside event." I called Geico. Geico said "If there is no damage on the bumper, then we consider it a manufacturing fault, and the dealer has to pay for it." I then later called Mini USA again, I was transferred to a head technician, who said "Oh, yeah, That warning isn't telling you that the restraint system is broken, it's telling you the forward sensor is. There is no protective barrier between the sensor and the bumper, so it can easily get broken without any damage to the outside of the car. It would be a manufacturing issue. Call the Service Manager at the Dealer to take care of it." The Service Manager, he said "The computer will flag every event if you did a hard stop with the break and it won't necessarily tell when the sensor is broken." So I said "So then if someone hit my car in a parking lot I wouldn't know?" he said "yes." There are thousands of reports of lurching with 2025s. This is clearly a manufacturing defect. I might be stuck with a bill nobody will pay. This is frightening me. Apparently you can even KICK the sensor on any mini and break it without anyone knowing. The contact owns a 2025 Mini Countryman. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V104000 (ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC), SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. The morning of Tuesday 12/24/24 while driving the car at 30-40 mph, in the dark, all systems suddenly shut off - by all systems I'm mean the engine, all interior and exterior lights, the "computer" screen. Everything went black in an instant. After a second of two the car lurched back to life. I was able to pull over at that point. The only "idiot light" that came on was a yellow engine symbol. I opened it and a screen came up that said "Check Control", "No entries". If this had happened with traffic around I could have been injured in an accident. If it had happened on the nearby Interstate and highway speeds, I could have been killed. I am taking the vehicle to the dealer today for evaluation. There have been no professional inspections at this time. For the two months that I've had this car there have been repeated problems with the "boot up" process when trying to start the car. It at times displays wrong information, does not recognize the "key fob", forgets previous settings, etc. This has been told to the dealer and to a BMW/Mini factory rep on 12/23/24. These were considered nuisance problems; however, a complete system failure while driving is not a nuisance.
Daily numerous warning alerts that the “Reduced Driver Assisantce - Forward Collision Mitigation, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Warning, Parking Collision Warning and many more would constantly flash. 2 weeks in the shop and a camera was replaced. The warnings still continue. Feel very unsafe with all the failures.
When making a right turn, and turning speed, our new cars braking system activated, locked the brakes, and steering wheel, causing the vehicle to slide into oncoming traffic. The cars safety system overrode the driver, now allowing me to maneuver away from on coming traffic until the vehicle came to a complete stop. I believe the reason it did this, is the cars safety system thought it was about to be in a head on collision being fed wrong AI to the cars computers and cameras. The vehicle had less than 300 miles at the time of the incident.
