Wheels04/28/2026

I experienced severe wheel instability on 3/29/2026 at around 630pm on I74 West while traveling on the highway at high speed. I was forced to perform emergency maneuvers to avoid a catastrophic collision, resulted in a terrifying near-miss incident that required an emergency tow to safety. Upon inspection, it was confirmed that the lug nuts on the left rear wheel were not properly torqued and were dangerously loose as outlined by the tow report below :-----Please see the following service report regarding PO 3166 for a 2025 Infiniti QX80. When we arrived on scene, the customer stated that the vehicle made a sudden jerk and veered unexpectedly while being driven. Before touching or loading the vehicle, we took photos and observed that the left rear wheel appeared to be close to coming off the vehicle. Upon further examination, we found that 3 of the 5 lug nuts had broken off completely. The remaining 2 lug nuts were still in place, but were barely holding.I advised the customer that the safest course of action was to jack the vehicle up and tighten the 2 remaining lug nuts as much as possible in order to reduce the risk of the wheel falling off during loading, unloading, or transport. This was done strictly to help avoid additional body or vehicle damage---: Most critically, my [XXX] child was in the vehicle during this life-threatening event placing my family in immediate catastrophic near miss dangerous event. Forward Collision Avoidance /Back Over Prevention04/28/2026

I am submitting a safety complaint regarding the driver assistance system (ProPILOT Assist) in my 2024 Infiniti QX80. The behavior of this system creates a potentially dangerous driving condition. When ProPILOT Assist is engaged, the vehicle consistently delays braking until the last possible moment, then applies sudden and aggressive braking rather than smooth deceleration. This creates a high risk of rear-end collisions, especially in moderate to heavy traffic where gradual speed adjustments are expected. In addition, the lane-keeping function appears unstable. The vehicle tends to drift or “hug” one side of the lane instead of maintaining a centered position. At highway speeds, the system makes abrupt and overly aggressive steering corrections, even when the vehicle is already within lane boundaries and at a safe following distance. These sudden inputs feel unnatural and reduce driver confidence, requiring constant manual correction. Overall, the system behavior is unpredictable and does not align with reasonable expectations for a driver assistance feature. Instead of enhancing safety, it introduces unnecessary risk by combining delayed braking with aggressive steering inputs. This issue occurs under normal driving conditions on clearly marked roads and does not appear to be an isolated event. Given the size and weight of the QX80, these system responses could lead to serious accidents if not addressed. I request that this issue be investigated, as it presents a significant safety concern for drivers and others on the road.

Electrical System /Unknown Or Other /Forward Collision Avoidance04/05/2026

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Two components have failed: the infotainment/Apple CarPlay system, including the USB-C connectivity port, and the front collision detection/crash sensor system. The entire A/V unit was replaced on August 1, 2025, yet the infotainment defect persisted. Both systems are currently installed in my vehicle and are available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The front collision detection system malfunction directly compromises my ability to rely on the vehicle's built-in safety features to prevent or mitigate crashes. Additionally, the infotainment screen has frozen and reset while the vehicle was in motion. I have also been locked out of my vehicle twice while the engine was running, which created a dangerous situation. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. On July 25, 2025, a technician at Georgetown Infiniti attempted and failed to connect their own phone to the CarPlay system, confirming the defect was in the vehicle and not my personal device. The collision system malfunction has been documented across multiple service visits at both Georgetown Infiniti and Grubbs Infiniti. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Yes. The vehicle has been inspected and serviced by authorized Infiniti dealerships, specifically Grubbs Infiniti and Georgetown Infiniti, both of which are manufacturer-authorized service centers. Most recently addressed 2/4/20226. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes. The infotainment screen displayed warning messages, froze, and reset while driving. The front collision system displayed malfunction warnings on the dashboard.

Seat Belts02/27/2026

The contact owns a 2025 Infiniti QX80. The contact stated that the middle seat belt receiver failed to function as intended. Upon inspection, the contact became aware that when the third-row seat was folded under, the seat belt receiver was crushed. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was confirmed that the seat belt receiver was damaged by the third-row seat. The vehicle remained at the dealer pending the repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 3,000.

Structure02/17/2026

While driving my Infiniti QX80, 2025 model, the driver's side mirror is constantly shaking and vibrating, especially on uneven roads or at speeds over 40–50 mph. The vibration blurs the mirror, making it impossible to see clearly and posing a safety risk. I brought this to the dealer, but they could not resolve the issue. They replaced the mirror, yet it did not help and actually made the vibration worse. Now they claim this is "normal" and that nothing can be done. However, the vibration is constant and unacceptable for safe driving. I request further investigation and resolution.

Unknown Or Other12/27/2025

While driving at normal speed, I suddenly heard a very loud explosion-like “boom” coming from the roof of the vehicle. I immediately pulled over and discovered that the panoramic roof glass had shattered, leaving a large opening/hole in the glass. There was no impact from any object, no debris strike, and no visible impact point or damage consistent with road debris. Nothing hit the vehicle before or during the incident. The failure occurred suddenly and without warning, creating a serious safety concern. Shattered glass could have entered the passenger compartment and startled the driver, potentially causing loss of control. Based on the nature of the failure (loud explosive sound, sudden collapse, no impact evidence), this appears to be a spontaneous glass failure / manufacturing defect of the panoramic roof. This incident raises concerns about the safety and structural integrity of panoramic roof glass on this vehicle model.

Electrical System /Unknown Or Other10/15/2025

Camera monitoring system or rear visibility system. The rearview/backup camera has intermittently malfunctioned in my QX80 numerous times since I purchased the car in February 2024, including (1) displaying a frozen image from the backup camera when putting the car in reverse which stayed frozen (for example, did show a car driving directly behind me which I almost hit) and displayed the frozen image to the driver the entire time driving the car, including at highway speeds, and which could not be manually removed from view (including by pressing the camera button); and (2) the backup camera not turning on at all when the QX80 is put in reverse, not could the backup camera be turned on manually by pushing the camera button. I attached some photos of the frozen rearview/backup camera which remained displayed to the driver the entire time driving the car, including while traveling on the interstate at highway speeds (65 mph) when the photos were taken attached below. The date below is the date of the photo, however backup camera malfunctions has occurred numerous times and dates. I also have numerous videos of the malfunctions described herein that I can also share.

Air BagsCRASH05/08/2025

A lady driving a Honda Fit pulled out in front of my wife while she was driving her Infinity QX80. My wife was driving about 40-45 MPH at the time of the crash. The driver at fault in the Honda Fit I noticed all air bags deployed. My wife's QX80 had none of the air bags deployed. The officers at the scene were shocked to see the amount of damage to my wife's QX80 while not triggering the air bags to be deployed. One in particular told us to make sure we reported this to the insurance company.

Unknown Or Other02/09/2025

Sunroof shattered after a loud boom without warning. No preexisting damage prior to this happening. Nothing overhead that lead to damage. Just literally exploded

Unknown Or Other01/13/2025

Sunroof exploded. There is a sunshade which protected passengers. Infiniti dealer and it is my understanding that the Company are aware that it happened. Repairs have been made. Three appeared to be no reason for the sunroof to explode.

Suspension /Vehicle Speed Control /Unknown Or Other12/26/2024

New QX80 should be taken off the road. The Infotainment system is the central computer system to the car. Countless times where the system reboots WHILE DRIVING yielding electronics cluster (Speed control, Heads up Display, etc) blacked out. Upon "reboot", the stereo system is blaring loud, without ability to turn down volume, creating a dangerous driving environment. Only resolution, to date, is to press and hold for 10-15 seconds the powerbutton to shutoff. Having to do this while driving is dangerous. Other isntances where the car pneumatic suspension system - connected to said infotainment system - faults and creates the car to go up/down while driving. This is similar to a friend who has the same exact car, who's having the same exact issues. There is no resolution. This car NEEDS TO BE TAKEN OFF THE ROAD UNTIL INFINITI CAN PROVE STABLE COMPUTER FUNCTIONALITY. IT WILL CREATE ACCIDENTS/DEATH. This has happened numerous times. Photo is from most recent after driving "blind" on the cluster back to our driveway to take a picture.
