The contact owns a 2024 Genesis GV80. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V229000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at various speeds, there was an abnormal gasoline odor inside the cabin of the vehicle. While the vehicle was parked, the gasoline odor was also present outside the vehicle, especially while parked in the garage at the residence. The contact stated that there was condensation underneath the vehicle near the fuel tank. The vehicle was towed to a dealer, but was not yet diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 17,000.
4/2/26, very hard to start the engine and engine warning light was blinking. noticed significant amount of fuel leaking on driver side of engine. The vehicle was towed to Genesis dealership. 4/3/26, engine cylinder #4 fuel leaking due to broken o-ring per dealership. Crossover fuel pipe and o-ring were replaced.
I was driving my 2022 Genesis GV80 on Sunday April 5th, 2026 when the vehicle started to overheat. This is the second incident that happened due to the vehicle overheating. The first time reported was in December 2025 at a cost of $3400 out of pocket. Now I see this recall for a potential fire that can be caused by the manufacturer defect. This is very concerning, since the vehicle has been serviced since I purchased the Genesis as a gift to myself in November 2021. This does not sit well with me, with Genesis being a "Luxury" brand. I believe that I should have my vehicle repurchased by Genesis due to these mechanical manufacturer defects.
On Friday, April 11, 2026 I received an alert on my vehicle that there was a possible issue with the driver's side headlamps. After checking my headlamps I discovered that the driver's side headlamps were not on. It was night time when this happened and I was very concerned for my safety and the safety of others while driving without proper lighting. The issue has been confirmed by a Genesis Service representative stating that this is a very common issue with this particular vehicle. It was relayed that moisture gets in the light assembly and shorts out the ILCU, which kills light functions. I have not had the vehicle inspected by the manufacturer, police or insurance representative. I feel that this issue, being known to be a common occurrence, should be a recall item and I am requesting a goodwill repair. I purchased this vehicle used and have had it for nine months. It was out of warranty when I purchased it so I purchased an extended warranty but unfortunately for me it does not include lighting. I am an elderly woman on a fixed income and cannot afford an expensive repair like this (approximately $2,500). I've always wanted a GV80 and was so excited when I purchased it. I am hopeful that Genesis will stand behind their product and put this item as a recall or in the very least grant a goodwill repair.
In light of the recent fatality involving an automatic folding seat in a Hyundai, we tested the automatic seat function in the Genesis 2nd row to ensure it responds appropriately. First, my daughter (weighing 165 lbs) sat in the seat without a seat belt on and activated the folding mechanism. The seat did stop once it detected her, but only after it had already pushed her into an uncomfortably bent position, which suggests the detection point may be later than ideal. We then tested the seat using a Joie Mint Latch baseless car seat with a child in it (18 lb child, and the car seat weighing approximately 9 lbs). We did not secure the lower anchors or seat belt out of caution. When we pressed the button, the seat continued folding without stopping, and we had to quickly remove the child and car seat to prevent the seat from fully collapsing onto him. Although the button could be pressed again to reverse the seat, that would not have prevented a serious injury had we not intervened immediately. This presents a significant safety concern.
When the adaptive cruise control system is engaged while wearing prescription eyeglasses, either my regular clear lenses or prescription polarized sunglasses , a persistent audible and visual warning sounds approximately every two (2) minutes creating a distraction. The warning states "Keep your eyes on the road and drive safely. Driver assistance system is limited."
I have a concern with the power folding rear seats to increase the cargo space. It doesn't stopped if you are sitting in the seat and pushed the button. I tested it myself. This to me is very alarming and Genesis need to fix it or someone will get hurt or killed like the Hyundai Palisades case. A child shouldn't have to lose their life for Hyundai to fix a known issue. I really hope Genesis will follow suit and fix the problem before anyone else get hurt.
After a panic stop, back seat (opposite the driver seat) automatically collapsed. While I had it inspected at a Genesis dealership, hearing that Toyotas are experiencing a similar problem due to seat springs makes me wonder if that happened to my vehicle. Our small dog rides in this seat and would be crushed if the seat were to collapse.
Water enters headlamp assembly causing a he assembly to fail. Failed assembly ruins control module. Ruined control module disables multiple safety features (7 errors code show upon failure). Root cause is a faulty seal from original manufacturing. Manufacturer has corrected the faulty seal but did not issue safety recall leaving owners with defective and unsafe equipment as well as hefty repair bills.
My 2024 GV80 with approximately 15k miles started completely powering off while driving multiple times and the vehicle started itself while in my enclosed garage space with no one in the vehicle, no button/brake pressed, not key fob pressed. I turned this into the dealership for manufacturer repair on 9/13/25 and as of today, 2/5/26, I still do not have my car back. The dealership explains there is an intermittent parasitic draw that they have been unable to identify. The battery drain, they claim, resulted in the car stopping by itself and starting by itself. The company has refused buyback under Lemon Law (not covering CPO), letters to the CEO have gone unanswered, multiple claims with Genesis corporate have resulted in no help and the local dealership is horrendous- no response, having the vehicle 5 months, no timeline.
Genesis gv80 - DAW - need coffee Driver Attention Warning / Forward Attention Warning System This issue warrants immediate consideration for a recall. Despite wearing glasses, sunglasses, or no glasses, the problem This occurs regardless of the time of day, weather conditions, or whether I am sitting upright or reclining. The warning alerts even when eyes are persistently and continuously on the road. The warning randomly activates every 2-5 minutes and extremely disruptive and distracting to driving.
Genesis Connected Services is not functional on vehicle since December 23 2025. This module controls Emergency Services and communications, Navigation and vehicle safety features. Genesis has been contacted more than 5 times already and no solution or fixes have been done as of todays date.
