Recent Owner Complaints
Direct reports filed with NHTSA by Genesis GV60 owners — 2023–2026 model years.
The Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) on my Genesis GV60 called Highway Driving Assist (HDA) would randomly turn off without warning ever since I purchased the vehicle. I use it pretty much daily for my commute to work (but have to watch closely since it turns off often without warning) and the system would randomly turn off a least a few times a day so I would need to take over quickly. Yesterday when I was driving in the carpool HOV lane in the Los Angeles area where some sections of the freeway have lane markers that are very close to the center divider and the car decided to randomly turn off ADAS without warning which resulted in a car swipe against the center divider and damaged the front bumper as well as a broken side rearview mirror. I did a random search online and found lots of complaints from other Genesis/Hyundai/Kia owners who have similar issues am surprised why nothing has been done about it so I decided to report this. The repair would cost me almost 4 thousand dollars all because of the manufacturer defect that probably could be easily fixed with over the air update. Please investigate to prevent other drivers from getting into a crash for this defective. Thanks.
Brakes failed completely and car rolled down a steep driveway and flipped.
My wife and I have both experienced intermittent power loss on the vehicle — specifically after stopping and restarting, such as at traffic signals. During these incidents, the car moves extremely slowly even with the accelerator fully pressed, before eventually resuming normal acceleration. This has happened 3–4 times between us, and on one occasion, the car nearly stalled in the middle of an intersection, which was genuinely frightening. I brought the vehicle to Genesis of Charlotte in mid-January 2026 for diagnosis. After multiple checks, the service team was unable to identify any issues and advised me to take the car back. When I asked whether they had checked with Genesis for any known reports of this issue, the service manager told me, "That's not how we work — we diagnose by ourselves." I was surprised by this response, as I have since found this issue reported by other GV60 owners online (including on community forums), suggesting it may be a broader, known concern.
On December 1, 2025 the car gave a series of messages on the screen indicating that there was an issue with the electrical system. I was within a mile of home and so drove home because it was operating normally at first. Driving home the car went into a limp mode and could only go very slowly 15-20 mph probably). The car was towed from my house on 12/1/2025. The issue turned out to be a bad Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU). The car was fixed on 12/16/2025. I just wanted to make sure this failure was counted .
On March 1, 2026, while driving at normal roadway speed on a double yellow-lined road, my 2024 Genesis GV60 Advance displayed a "Check Electric Vehicle System" warning. With less than one minute of the warning appearing, the vehicle lost propulsion and rolled to a stop. I was able to steer into a parking lot, but I was stranded miles from home. There was minimal advance warning before complete loss of drive power. The vehicle could not be driven and required towing. The vehicle previously had the ICCU recall campaign marked as complete on January 3, 2025. Despite that prior recall remedy, the vehicle experienced sudden loss of propulsion. The vehicle is currently at the dealership for diagnosis and repair. The dealership has indicated extended diagnostic time and that related parts are on backorder. I am filing this compliant because sudden propulsion loss with little warning presents a significant safety risk to both occupants and surrounding traffic.
The ICCU failed again. This is the second failure and this failure occurred after the previous recalls were applied.
I purchased a used 2023 Genesis GV60 on [XXX] from a franchised Genesis dealer in New Jersey (Genesis of Wayne, Wayne, NJ). At the time of delivery, the vehicle had an open safety recall with an available remedy and it was not completed prior to sale/delivery. After purchase, Genesis’ official recall/campaign lookup for my VIN showed at least one open safety recall listed as “Incomplete.” The dealer had represented that recalls were addressed, but Genesis’ system continued to show the safety recall as open. Vehicle: 2023 Genesis GV60 VIN: [enter full VIN] Recall/Campaign information shown as open/incomplete: •Campaign/Recall 027G (NHTSA Recall No. 25V474000) – Instrument panel cluster display may go blank (software update). Status shown as incomplete at/after delivery. •[If applicable] Campaign/Recall 028G – [Windshield molding / other campaign], status shown as incomplete at/after delivery. I am submitting this report because the vehicle was delivered to a consumer with an open safety recall that had an available remedy, and the manufacturer’s own system indicated the recall remained incomplete. I can provide supporting documentation upon request (Genesis recall lookup screenshots showing “Incomplete,” dealer sale paperwork, and communications). INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Car stopped taking a charge. ICCU and fuse seem to have died. This widespread problem needs to be addressed by the manufacturer. It's dangerous and careless to not have fixed the issue years later.
While driving car, I heard a "pop" sound coming from the back seat, my ICCU had failed and then there was a sudden loss vehicle power and the car went into a limp mode. The car only had 5,650 miles on it. This is a serious safety hazard. The car was towed to the dealership and a new ICCU was installed. The replacement part was the same model number that had failed. I was advised by the service adviser that I could possibly experience another ICCU failure in the future.
Complete ICCU failure resulting in loss of power on the freeway during rush hour, extremely dangerous for me and everyone around me. Car was towed twice over three years for the same issue, despite having all recalls done. Eventually lemon law eligible, did a buyback.
Electrical failure. Car was stuck in neutral on a hill with houses behind. Could not put in park, apply hazard light, or apply emergency brake. Could not exit the car safely due the fact if you took your foot of the brake the car would roll backward down hill uncontrolled. Steering was very stiff or locked so is was impossible to direct car to safe spot at the bottom of the hill. Have video documentation.
During a routine left hand turn at low speed (~10-15MPH), the vehicle engaged emergency braking. The dashboard indicated emergency braking was enabled. There were no objects in the vehicle's path. Acceleration was not possible during the event. Because the braking was unexpected and unintentional, the vehicle behind nearly collided with me.
