I own a 2024 Genesis G90 with two active NHTSA recalls: 25V474 and 25V833. On April 19, 2026, the vehicle suffered a total electrical failure: “Check brake system” warning Engine would not start Electronic door handles failed; occupants trapped inside for over 20 minutes Turn signals operate abnormally The dealer previously repaired only by reset (no recall fix). This is a life-threatening safety defect affecting brakes, electrical system, and egress. Please open an investigation and enforce recall repairs. I am pursuing Lemon Law relief.
About every 45 days the car will not turn off. Safety items like the rear view camera will not work. The main viewing screen will go dead. I called the dealership. They said this was a common problem with my car. The only fix is to attempt a full system reboot with a paper clip. This has now happened three times to me. Once the car started without me pushing the start button. Twice while I was driving.
Inattentive driver alert activates randomly and without cause. Seems to happen when wearing sunglasses, regardless of drivers actual state of alertness. genesis has removed the ability to disable this feature starting with the 2025 models year, which poses a safely issue due to repeated audio and visual warnings while driving.
Seatbelt disengage on its own. I noticed my seatbelt disengaged the other day while I was in a drive thru. I was not driving at the moment I was waiting in the line. I know the seatbelt had been latched prior to it unlatching. I mentioned it to my husband and he said the same thing recently happened to him. Upon research I noticed this may be common with Hyundai.
Similar to the GV80 issue, when the vehicle decelerates from 80 to 70 there is a loud whining noise coming from the vehicle.
I purchased a new 2024 Genesis g90 vehicle from Key Genesis in Jacksonville Florida. I live in Navarre Florida near Pensacola so I took the vehicle into the Pensacola dealership for service. For almost a years time I have been notifying the dealership of a serious safety issue wirh the vehicle. There is a condition where the vehicle slams on the brakes on the highway for no apparent reason. The vehicle slams on the brakes at highway speeds while straddling two lanes. A vehicle in either lane being me could easily crash into the rear of my car when it does this. It took the dealership and Genesis corporate almost 8 months to confirm the problem, even though I had videos of the event happening. They wouldn't accept my video evidence. Consequently, they finally verified the problem and have been trying to fix it for months. They have no idea why it is doing this or how to fix it. But they have deemed the vehicle to be unsafe to drive and will not give it back to me. I have asked them to replace it with a new vehicle but they have refused. I went through the Lemon Law option and all they would offer me was to repurchase it for $23,000 less than what I have into it. They offered to pay me $9,000 and to keep the car but they have no idea what's wrong or how long it will take to fix it. So that offer is meaningless. I would like some help to try to get them to replace it with a new vehicle.
Since purchased as a new vehicle from dealer, the TPMS ( Tire Pressure Monitoring System ) menu has been absent from my dash as an option to choose so that I can monitor the tire pressures. The menu widget that contains the TPMS also contains other options that are suppose to be available, but also do not show and are unavailable to the driver.
on Thursday 10/24/2024 I went to use my car which was parked in my garage and although the car was unlocked none of the doors would open. The car was completely dead and I had used it just several days before. Nothing would open doors, trunk no response from the key fob. A tow truck had to be called and the truck dragged the car out of the garage and placed dolly wheels on the front and towed from the rear to a Genesis dealer. My concern this electrical problem locked the car if a child was in the rear the only way to get the child out would be to break a window and then entry through the broken window as well as exit. The included metal key would not open the door and no access to the trunk or under the hood. The doors are electronic and power operated
PROBLEM: It has happened multiple times (about 20-25 times since the purchase of the vehicle in November 2022), always while having the engine running from a stop (variable stop length); when pressing the gas pedal to re-initiate the running, the car doesn't respond to the pressure on the gas pedal for 1-2 seconds and usually responds again during the uninterrupted pressing of the gas pedal. It has usually happened, more frequently than not, while turning the car left or right with normal immediate initial response but 2-3 seconds later has a similar type of unresponsiveness lasting 1-2 seconds. Has been alarming to me as in several occasions vehicles have been driving against me and being afraid of a “T-bone collision”. On [XXX] I brought the car for selective Oil & Filter change (my choice) and to address such problem but Tony Vrenna informed me that the issue had to be addressed by “GENESIS DIAGNOSTICS” and I was given the Telephone Number to call and make an appointment. George, from Rick Case Genesis (Broward County, Florida), was the person taking care of such call and he did give me an appt for [XXX] and to bring the car to SERVICE (again) and talk to Tony Vrenna that day. The car was left overnight at Rick Case and checked but George could not document the problem himself and the car was returned to me. I was not advised about any further check regarding this problem as "there are no recalls thus far". I did then report the problem once to Genesis after being invited to a survey but no eventual call back or response thus far. The problem has continued to occur in occasional instances. I have not reported the problem to the police or to insurance representatives. I have not seen any warning lamps, messages or other accompanying symptoms or signs of the problem prior, during, or after the failure. It makes sense that the fuel pump failure previously recalled in multiple Genesis 2022 and 2023 model years might presumably be the cause. Seat memory #1 was working when I purchased the vehicle on 9/30/2021. Meaning as I got into and started the vehicle the seat automatically went into the correct driver's position to safely drive the vehicle. It was later learned that one of the options on the vehicle was an easy out feature. Meaning the seat would move back all the way so the driver could easily exit the vehicle. The seat at this time did not go back all the way. So, the dealership installed the new part on April 6, 2022, to correct the easy out feature. After the new part was installed the seat memory for #1 would not work at all as before. Meaning the seat would not go into the number #1 position to drive the vehicle safely. Also, the new part after the installation did not correct the easy out situation either meaning the seat will not move all the way back at all for an easy out. Now when I get out of the vehicle, I have to manually repeat manually move the seat all the way back and down to force myself repeat force myself to hit the number #1 seat position when I get back into the vehicle to reset the seat in order to safety drive the vehicle. The dealership has said per Genesis the seat is operating as designed. I was not informed of this design flaw when I purchased the vehicle and if I was, I never would have purchased the vehicle.
Hello. We came within one foot of running over a jogger and had pedestrian avoidance activated. I read the owners manual and found disclaimer that PA does not work in dark and for other scenarios. The PDA is essentially a daytime pedestrian avoidance and does not work half the day. Indeed many other safety features such as lane keep assist do not perform as sales people disclosed. There needs to be much better disclosure (such as with medications) about limitations of new safety features. I specifically said the reason I was buying a car was to update safety, especially PDA to avoid my grandkids, bikes and joggers. I was not fully disclosed. Many might trade-in cars to update to new features to include those who can barely afford a new car. Then become trapped due to "drive off the lot" depreciation and cannot afford a car which does perform as needed. They may be better served by waiting another year or so until PDA etc would perform as they should. I am blessed and can afford to withstand the "hit." Agree that safety features are a step in the right direction and is new territory for regulation We must in my opinion have regulations for full disclosure of safety features limitations before a sale is made. We do not all read the owner's manual before purchase and do rely on truthful sales people. Safety is not a "buyer's beware" territory. The car I purchased happened to be a Genesis, but I think this is a problem across many manufacturers. I used to do forensic pathology and know fully well what traffic safety is about. Thank you for listening. I am not writing this for any personal reason as this was a near miss with no damage done. This I think is a general problem and just wanted for your agency to have increased awareness. [XXX] MD INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
